For the past several months, my 21-year-old son (we'll call him Cameron) has been dating a woman (we'll call her Sophia) that he described as a "free spirit." I hadn't seen her or met her, since they met at college in another state and I'm not on social media, but my wife and I invited them to come for dinner over the weekend.
On Saturday night, Cameron and Sophia pulled up in her car, which was a really beat-up old Honda that even had some missing hubcap covers. This honestly should have been my first clue that something was wrong, but I overlooked it because I hadn't seen my son in a few months. When she stepped out of the car, though, I realized that Cameron and I would need to have a frank discussion. Sophia had a large tattoo down her arm, as well as several piercings, but the thing I noticed most was that she buzzed her hair on each side of her head and had dyed what hair she had on top an unnaturally bright color of orange.
I rushed back inside, pretending that the food was about to burn, but it was actually to inform my wife of what I had just seen. I wouldn't call us wealthy by any means. We live in an upper-middle class neighborhood, only took a few vacations per year, and sent Cameron to above-average schools growing up. But this sort of appearance wasn't at all common in our area because families wanted to maintain a certain image, so you can understand why I was so shocked. The thing is, I was expecting my wife to be as bothered as I was, but she totally ignored me and greeted them both with hugs. She refused to back me up, and it made me look like a jerk, which was embarrassing to me. I had raised perfectly legitimate concerns.
From there on, the dinner got worse. Sophia revealed that her dad worked as a welder, and her mom was a bus driver, two jobs anyone with a high school diploma could do. I understand, of course, that she is in college, presumably to struggle less than her parents did, but I couldn't help but wonder what percentage of her paycheck she would be giving away to her family. It wouldn't be fair at all for my son to pay for the bulk of the expenses, assuming this relationship lasts a long time. I also don't want to be sending them my money because I firmly believe that two college-educated adults should be financially independent, like I was when I graduated.
I asked Cameron to stay behind for a few minutes and honestly laid out my concerns. I commended Sophia for trying hard in school, but told him that her tattoos and piercings would lower her earning potential. I certainly wouldn't hire anyone with her appearance if it were up to me. I implored Cameron to really consider the choice he was making by dating someone like her. Again, I told him that Sophia seems nice but that there were better options for someone of his upbringing. Long story short, my wife and son refuse to talk to me, and it's been almost 48 hours. They act like everything I said is completely off-base, and I know that it's not. I wish they could see things from my point of view. I don't know what more I can do to get through to them, and I even went out of my way to not voice some of what I was thinking. It's as if they think I deserve no credit at all. AITA?

So I would like to get certified in person. Unfortunately it seems most places in states the coursework is online, which would disqualify me for positions in some Middle Eastern countries. I plan to go all in so I want to make sure I have as many options open to me as possible.
While I do have some work experience with high school students and elementary, I have very little formal experience as a teacher. Not to mention the only state that I could get certified in a year while also gaining experience is Texas. Most of you are probably already aware of this theory. It has been around for years. The great twist of Yandere Simulator will be the reveal that Megami and Ayano are sisters.
This had been a widly accepted theory since the release of Megami's first design, back when she still had black hair. Her design at the time was extremely similar to Kill la Kill character, Satsuki Kiryun. For those who are unaware, Satsuki is the main antagonist of the anime, and the president of the student council the protagonist attends. The plot twist of the anime is that she is the protagonist's sister.
Considering Alex knows about Kill la Kill, as proven by several easter eggs, it's likely he decided to use the same plot twist for Yandere Simulator. Megami's design was changed to not give it away immediatly, but of course, Alex couldn't keep his damn mouth shut, so there are many, MANY details that confirm this theory. I said details ? I should have said pages.
However, I feel like a lot of people are glossing over many details about this theory, and have many misconceptions about it. Notably, about how Megami and Ayano are related. So I decided to give my own theory, including all the... uh... subtle evidences we get in the game.
Crazy Grandpa master plan
No need to beat around the Saikou family's bush (or should I say tree, wink wink), you probably know about the Saikou Grandpa eugenics tendencies. His goal is to create the perfect human being, and he plans on using that by acheving the perfect combination of genetics.
So you might not know about this, but there are two major theories about the development of an individual. It's nature against nurture. Is an individual as he is because he was born this way, or because he grew to be this way. Is a person a blank slate at birth, or is their individuality already present from birth. This plays into determinism, I won't go into more details for a Yandere Simulator dumb theory, but you can look it up if you're interested.
So, to go back to Crazy Grandpa, he was probably on the side of nature at first. He only reproduced after he found the perfect wife, as he didn't want his gene pool to be "tainted", going as far as to DNA her on random shit. How did he DNA test her in the 60s is anyone's guess but let's move on.
The result were two children, Ichiko and Ichirou. Ichiko was raised rather normally, and ended up leaving the Saikou family as she didn't want to become the CEO. Crazy Grandpa saw it as the failure of his belief in nature, and decided to switch to nurture with Ichiro.
So Ichirou was raised with high expectations, to the point he acted like a robot, but Crazy Grandpa was very proud about what he had become.

Saishou carefully designed a very specific upbringing for Ichirou in order to encourage the development of specific personality traits and interests, and discourage the development of any attribute that he considered to be 'unnecessary'.

The boy spoke formally at all times, never expressed emotion, and rarely changed his facial expression. The Saikou family's attendants often wondered if the boy was still capable of independent thought, or if he was simply an empty shell that had been trained to carry out his father's will." Beside that, nothing else is known about his personality.
Familiar, isn't it ? We also learn that this is Saisho's conception of an "ideal person".
It is mentionned Grandpa was the one to chose Ichirou's wife, with the same criteria as he chose his own wife. Again, a perfect wife, because he didn't want his son to waste all the work he had put to this point to have a perfect bloodline. To this point, grandpa got the living proof that nurture works, but he still can't let go of his belief nature plays a part in it.
If only there was a way to run an experiment that could give an answer to this question...
The theory
The sisters theory is that Megami and Ayano are sisters, but there are usually divergences on how they are related. Keep in mind that I will be using the old timeline from 1980s mode as a template. It's already inaccurate as Yandere Simulator isn't set in 2022 anymore, but in 2026. But I don't care, the events probably play the same way.
Megami and Ayano are revealed in this timeline to have been born in the same year. You'll notice that the timeline mentions the birth of "Ryoba's daughter", and the birth of "Ichirou's daughter". Keep in mind that Jokichi isn't mentioned as Ayano's father.
And that's where we come to the main misconception in this theory.
Who are Megami's parents ?
Ichirou is obviously Megami's father. However, many have theorized that Ryoba is Megami's biological mother. This theory goes both way, either Megami and Ayano are twins separated from birth, or Saikou kept an egg from Ryoba and inseminated the Wife. This would make her Ayano's maternal half-sister.
I don't suscribe to this theory. Well, first of all, considering the timeline, Crazy Grandpa was the one behind the deal we'll mention later with Ryoba. I don't think he would have wasted his time finding a wife with perfect genes for his son if he had planned for her to only be an incubator.
Also, another reason, Megami's little antenae. It's a part of her design that she gets from her mother. The Wife is also mentioned to have given birth to two children, Megami and Kencho, which wasn't a necessary precision. Alex would have probably found a way to circumvent this if she hasn't really have birth to Megami.
So no, sorry, Megami probably isn't a yandere.
So... if Ayano and Megami aren't related throught Ryoba... how are they sisters ?
Through Ichirou. Simply enough.
Yeah, as great of a dad Jokichi is, he is probably not Ayano's biological father. Ayano is a copy paste of Ryoba, so he doesn't share anything in common with Ayano design-wise, that could indicate he is indeed her father. We don't even know that much about him as an adult. The Characters page doesn't mention him being Ayano's father, he is only described as the student he was back in the 80s.
However, Ichirou is described as extremely similar personality wise to Ayano. While Ayano is probably emotionless due to the Aishi curse, she is way more stoic than Ryoba in her own mode. But that's still a weak evidence, this is way I will back this up with the timeline.
We know that Ryoba has given birth to a daughter very late compared to her own mother and grandmother. These reasons are said to be plot related and big spoilers. Again, Ayano's father isn't mentioned as a parent, only Ryoba.

I recently went through my text document that lists all character ages and birthdates and changed a few things. Aishi women now give birth at 18. Ryoba, however, gave birth at 31, for plot-related reasons that will be revealed in the true ending (or perhaps in the basement tapes).

So, this is my own theory on what happened.
Just shut up and tell us what happened already
In the timeline, it is mentioned Ryoba's mother kept her Senpai in her basement. In 1984, when Ryoba was still a child, Saikou Corp renovated all the houses in Buraza Town for free, including Ryoba's house. Why was this even mentioned ? Because it was the first meeting between the Saikou and Aishi families.
Crazy Grandpa found out about the weird shit happening in the Aishi's basement. He learns about the Aishi curse. He decides to keep an eye on the Aishi's daughter at Akademi. Everything Ryoba did to get her Senpai convinces him the Aishi gene is the perfect gene to create an emotionless heir.

Kocho is extremely reluctant to let Ryoba return to the school, stand on a stage, and hand her a diploma but was told by Saisho Saikou to let it go.

He orders his men to abduct Jokichi as an hostage, so she would agree to have a meeting. That's when they made a deal, that Ryoba would be the mother of the future Saikou heir. But not only is Ichiro not old enough, he wants to find the perfect wife for him. She can marry her Senpai and have well paying jobs in the meantime.
Ten years after that, Ryoba has a meeting with Saikou and his son. And according to Kencho, she is apparently a regular.

She walked straight through the waiting room and directly into Mr. Saikou's office, without even speaking a single word to the secretary.

How long had that woman been coming here? How often? What business did she have here?
Kencho asks the secretary details, and we are told :

The secretary was silent for a few moments, and then gave me some generic platitude about how "the details of Mr. Saikou's appointments must be kept strictly confidential."

So either Saisho fired the previous secretary, or this meeting must be extremely confidential. Because that secretary was a huge gossip when it came to Ichiro and Saisho's falling off.
We get the confirmation it is a big deal as all the employees act the same at the mention of Ryoba.

When they saw how distraught I was, they were eager to help, but...
...When I asked them about that woman who just walked by, they... their attitudes changed in a heartbeat.
They slowly turned away from me and returned to their work in silence.
They ignored me, as if I wasn't even there! I haven't been treated like that since I was a schoolboy!

It was as if that woman was a taboo subject that no-one was allowed to speak of...or that...
He asks about her several times but Crazy Grandpa shuts him down. Kencho mentions Ichiro was there for all the meetings, but he has only heard him speak a handful of times. However, we also know that Ryoba and Ichiro have spoken with each other.
2004, Ichiro is in his mid-twenties. He gets married to the Wife. That's when his two daughters are born : Megami is born to the Wife, as the official heir to Saikou. Ayano is born to Ryoba, away from the Saikou family, as the bearer of the Aishi curse.
How exactly what Ayano born ? It is unlikely Ryoba would have cheated on Jokichi, which is why many have theorized on an insemination. Considering Saikou is a tech company, it's not out of reach.

He had two children, in accordance with his father's wishes; 'One as a backup in case the first child fails you.'

Yes, this might refer to Kencho. But this might also refer to Ayano. After all, Saisho did have twin daughters, before having a spare...
One was raised to be emotionless. One was born emotionless. It was the old debate, nurture against nature. Which one would produce the perfect heir to the eyes of the Saikou ?
Crazy grandpa retires in 2019, right before Megami and Ayano enter Akademi, and Ichiro becomes CEO.
Ichiro wants to select the perfect heir. And for that, he decides he will select the one who will come out on top, between Megami and Ayano. He seals a deal with Kencho about Ayano.

There is...one tape...that I'm already prepared to part ways with... The tape I made after Mr. Saikou's recent, ah...demands. It's far, far too risky for a recording like that to exist... That one...must be destroyed...immediately.

We know this deal is about Ayano. When Kencho kills Ayano as he feels threatened, he says "Mr. Saikou, the deal is off".
Ryoba and Jokichi both work for Saikou. We know from the headmaster that Ryoba and Ichiro have frequent meetings. She is able to walk in his office regularly. Why ? To discuss their daughter.
When Ryoba announces they are going to America, and Jokichi worries about their job, she says she gave a call to their boss and "he was very understanding". I used to interpret this as their boss being scared of Ryoba. But if their boss is Ichirou, there might be a reason he was so understanding. If Jokichi and Ryoba were to get away from Buraza Town, they wouldn't get in the way of his plans.
After Ayano disposes of Osana, we get a cutscene where he is on the phone with Ichiro. He seems very pleased with the unfolding events, and tells Kencho these deaths are "necessary casualties" for the "progress of science". Normal CEO activity, nothing wrong here.
But Megami also learns about this, as she is aware of the presence of a dangerous individual. Either Ichiro told her, or she might have discovered it by herself. Ichiro keeps her away from school for several weeks. She attends school through Zoom.
In very early builds of the game, you could find a laptop in the school. You would get to see Megami as a shadowy figure, back when she still had black hair. And here's her monologue :

I know who you are. I know WHAT you are. My father won't allow me to attend school while you are... "active". He has a reason for tolerating your presence at this school. I don't. You are a vulgar creature that is only allowed to exist because you serve a purpose. If it was my decision, then every last one of you would be exterminated.

And here's the end of Megami's description.

Megami clearly has some very important information that would cause her to go to such extreme lengths...but what does she know? Does Saikou Corp have anything to do with it? And, more importantly, does Senpai have anything to do with it?

I've been using cannabis consistently for thirteen years, mostly every day, and have been a casual social drinker for most of that time too. Alcoholism runs in my family, both sides, and most of my relatives have either gone fully sober or let their lives be wholly consumed by their drinking, with almost no middle ground. In the past six months I started drinking much more heavily due to life stress, finalizing divorce, inflation, college woes, dating struggles, struggling to get my business off the ground, and just general depression. I was medicated for my depression from the time I was 12-18, when I stopped taking pills (they made me incredibly apathetic but the doctor and my family just said "anything to keep you alive") and I started using cannabis to regulate my emotions instead. I loved it. But I had a wake up call last month when I started dating an amazing and sober man who had gone to rehab. I botched the relationship quickly with some unhealed trauma (we no longer speak and I don't blame him) but I still decided to quit everything to better myself, as he inspired me to get sober. But the toll it's taken has been awful. I spend most of my time now weeping or feeling extremely worried and depressed, idealizing suicide and panicking over the future. I have three kids and my oldest is in middle school, so they're basically seeing the effects firsthand. I was always a chill mom, I coach local youth soccer and work in the forest, I'm a tattooed surfer and active outdoorswoman, very laid back. But since going sober I've become a monster. I lose my shit over small things, I cry at the littlest inconvenience, my temper is short, and I can't seem to focus in my classes at all. I try to be alone mostly now because I feel like I'm ruining everyone's time by being around them and not being able to control my emotions. I feel so stupid and ugly, (which I know isn't true, I'm a conventionally attractive woman and I get hit on a lot where I live). Part of the reason I started drinking more was because guys in bars would offer to buy my drinks and I almost never said no, even if I wasn't interested in talking to them because, hey, free liquor, cool. Now it's been nine days with no cannabis and no alcohol. I feel I have become a pathetic piece of shit. I am dreading coaching practice tonight because I don't want fifteen middle school boys watching me sob uncontrollably. Physically, I feel healthier and I look better already. My skin looks amazing and my sleep and muscle tone has improved. Mentally and emotionally, I feel lost, alone, and very sad, with no escape. I hope it gets better. I’m feeling pretty low this week for various reasons, but one thing that has made it worse is people constantly misinterpreting my meaning. I am very high masking, and I didn’t discover I was autistic until I was 32. I have spent a long time learning to improve my communication skills, even before I knew I was autistic, but it never seems good enough. No matter how carefully I think through and word things, no matter how many caveats and qualifications I add, and no matter how much I specify that I am *only speaking for myself and nobody else*, I am somehow always wrong and upsetting people. I have tried being concise, and I get misinterpreted. I have tried explaining myself thoroughly in excruciating detail, and I get told I’m “monopolizing the conversation,” “lecturing,” “ranting,” “being condescending,” or just plain old “talking too much.”
And the thing is, nobody *ever* misinterprets what I’m saying as more positive than I intend; they always, ALWAYS interpret my words in the least generous way possible and draw negative conclusions about my character based on their own projections. They do not ask clarifying questions, either. And then I am made responsible for their misinterpretations and projections. Even when I explain that they have misunderstood my message, they don’t care. They interpreted my words in a way that made them feel bad; therefore, it is *my* responsibility to fix their feelings.
And I get it, sometimes we say something that we don’t mean to be hurtful, but it hurts someone’s feelings anyway, and it’s good to apologize because we care about their feelings. That is a good thing. I am not asking for a complete free pass, but at least some graciousness in interpretation. The fact is that there are many things in life that are not inherently offensive or rude; they are just that way because someone interprets them that way. When it happens all the time and folks insist that their interpretation is the *only* correct one, despite what my actual meaning was, it puts me in the “lower” position in a relationship. Always being the one who is wrong and has to apologize leads to unhealthy relationship dynamics and can, frankly, get to a point of being abusive if it’s bad enough. This happens whether or not people know I am autistic. It is especially disappointing when they *do* know, because they refuse to take that into account when they consider the meaning of my words, and they expect me to do *all* the work to bridge the gap instead of meeting me in the middle. They refuse to acknowledge that communication involves two or more people who are equally responsible for making meaning together and put the full responsibility on me.
An example of this from when I was a kid: I was in school and someone would say, “Dang, that test was really hard and I had to study for hours.” My response would be, “Oh, I found that easy and didn’t have to study at all.” In my mind, I was thinking that we are each contributing to the conversation by sharing our experience and that I was just sharing a neutral fact about my experience. The person who hears that reads it as bragging: trying to put them down and put myself in a superior position by flaunting my accomplishments. But that was not at all the intent of what I said; *they* were the one who read all that into it and got their feelings hurt because of the way they chose to interpret what I said. It took me a long, long time to figure out why that upset people, and by the time I did, people had already decided I was an arrogant asshole. I was just trying to connect and participate the best way I knew how.
I recently turned 35, and I am just so fucking tired after a lifetime of this. Very few people seem to really understand me and my intentions. As an adult, I still regularly get ghosted by people who I think I’m on good terms with, and I almost never know why. Even when people tell me that they like hanging out with me, I can’t trust it because they’ll still ghost me soon after. I moved to a new city a bit over two years ago, but I stopped even trying to make friends a year ago because of this. It makes me not even want to bother trying to connect with others anymore even though I do care very deeply about people and having good relationships. *sigh*

Today I'm discussing Master of All, which is a perk from Generic Gamer. If you've never seen this perk or heard of this jump... this perk is probably the best singular perk in the jump (though ALL of them are really good), but it's not the INTENDED reason to come here. I personally think an early jump could stand to benefit from fusing GGJ with a more mundane jump (which is what my latest story-jumper is doing though not by choice) and grabbing this perk, it's appeal is kind of amazing. Now let's see the ACTUAL perk!

Master of All: Specialists focus on depth at the expense of breadth; generalists focus on breadth at the expense of depth. But what if you could focus on a single ability and have it benefit all of them? When you train one skill, ability, or power, that training and development applies not just to it, but to all of the skills, abilities, and powers you possess.

This is, understandably, a capstone perk. It is immensely powerful, and is the best TRAINING perk I've ever seen. There are BETTER perks out there for mastering stuff, heck I'll even include the other capstone in this jump just so you can see a better perk for MASTERING something.

Hyperspecialization: There’s focusing in a few specific areas, and then there’s this. Select a single skill, ability, power, Perk, whatever, so long as it’s possible to improve. At base, two things happen. A: the chosen ability progresses as if you’re training with it all the time, even when you’re doing nothing; if you were to actively train with it, the rate of growth would be effectively doubled. B: the rate of growth and development for the chosen ability is multiplied by a hundred.
Now, keep in mind that that’s just at base — both of these boosts increase gradually but exponentially the longer you focus on a single ability. Give it a few days, and the rate of growth will be multiplied by two hundred; a month, and by a thousand. You can change what ability you’re focusing on at any time at the cost of resetting the accrued exponential boosts.

Hyperspecialization IS a better perk if you want to master singular skills (or if you need a boost in power or skill in some SPECIFIC area but don't have the time to actually sit down and hone that area), but if you want to TRAIN something, if you value working for your goals, and if you want to be a jack of all trades Master of All is the better perk. And of course you could always grab BOTH perks, you could even do so without a SINGLE drawback AND you could still get other perks WITHOUT stacking drawbacks due to the discount mechanics of this jump. But I strongly prefer Master of All, personally.
Master of All is a very creative way to reward engagement in a setting which is something I'm always a fan of. A smart jumper who is not constrained by something like the notion of a fickle benefactor who ACTUALLY punishes boring jumpers might get something like Hyperspecialization and want to turtle up, but with Master of All you need to do SOMETHING for it to benefit you. Now WHAT you do doesn't matter, so long as you do SOMETHING that serves as training.
A very fun build could be for someone to snag both Skills, which is a function of the gamer system in Generic Gamer and then grab MoA and go to something like Generic School Years and diligently study. That studying will definitely count for MoA, since studying will definitely become or involve a skill as defined by Skills. This means that while you're studying you're becoming better at gymnastics, or cooking, or painting, or... using The Force, or mana management, or whatever other skills you've gained at this point in your journey.
One small facet of Master of All that is very interesting is how it stacks with uncappers and the very neat knowledge that there is a free uncapper in Generic Gamer (it's a facet of the gamer system!). This means that Master of All will eventually give you stuff like functionally limitless stamina and potentially unlimited strength, once you get the right upgradeable stuff at least. A fun thing I like about this perk is how it affects stuff like workouts. Workouts not only make you more physically fit with this, they also strengthen your perks, strengthen facets of your physique, and can even improve your luck (assuming there is a perk for your luck, which there IS in this jump in two senses: there's The Devil's Own Luck, AND there's a gamer function called Attributes, which CAN give you a luck stat if you want, I recommend it partially to mix with this perk). The idea that going for a joydrive can strengthen your telekinesis, or actively make you smarter is very funny but also very true with this perk and the right mix of gamer things.
This perk on it's own is somewhat limited, but a smart strategist who wants their jumper to be able to stand alone has a lot of options they can use. Two of my favorites here are Jack of All Trades and Experience Booster. JoAT is a fun perk that makes it much easier for you to hone new perksyou acquire along your chain, and Experience Booster is just a POWERHOUSE of a perk that boosts how much experience you get from anything that gives you experience, whether you only get it from defeating enemies or you get it from doing minor stuff, and if you mix it with Master of All you get a powerful combination since it makes it so that your workouts buff your brain by twenty times as much as they would otherwise. The best way to cheese it has got to be to go all in on game-ifying your life and taking the skills function of the gamer system, which allows you to make a ton of stuff into a skill, which thus plugs it into the Master of All functionality. Here, look at the description of Skills so you can see what I mean.

Skills (-100/-200/-300 GP)
For 100 GP, any ability or skill you possess becomes a ‘Skill’, with a skill level, increasing in power and efficiency as it levels up, done by gaining enough experience, which is gathered by using the skill; Level 1 is maximum inefficiency, while Level 99 is the maximum efficiency you could normally get — you can go even beyond that, though, with no hard cap to how high a skill’s level can be. The higher a skill’s level, the more experience required to get it to the next level. Generally, the more powerful and useful a skill, the slower it is to level up.
Any powers, skills, or abilities you already possess are automatically converted into System Skills. You may gain new skills by performing relevant actions; for example, throwing a knife might earn you the skill ‘Knife Throwing’. Skills will not deteriorate with time or disuse.
For an additional 100 GP, once a skill has reached Level 99, it may ‘prestige’, granting you an at least vaguely similar but much more powerful skill at Level 1 without taking away this one or, occasionally, traits if you’ve purchased the option. Prestige skills may themselves prestige. Prestige skills are especially difficult to level up.
For an additional 100 GP, you may ‘combine’ certain skills into a new one — without actually losing the ingredient skills.

This is hands down the best way to cheese this. This is also just a VERY good function in general, but guaranteeing that your skills can improve AND uncapping how good the stuff you do and the stuff you make can be is INCREDIBLE. This also allows you to become holistically better at everything just by cooking, or reading, and thus rewards you for having hobbies. This perk is very nice because it frees you from the constraints of training and having to incorporate stuff that makes you a stronger jumper but is more time-consuming and is not what a native would do.
I'm gonna take a beat to talk about Hyperspecialization again because one thing that's worth mentioning is that it's a passive trainer perk. It's MORE than that, sure, and in fact if you get it you're getting something worth every bit of CP you pay for it, but at it's core it's an enormously powerful passive trainer. There are other passive trainers. There didn't USE to be, at least not a LOT of them, but they exist now (these types of perks exist in several Edrogrimshell jumps, usually they are named "Dabbler" but not all of them have that name) so this perk has lost of some what made it unique. A perk doesn't have to be unique to be valuable, but it helps. Master of All, on the other hand is part of a, as far as I've seen, rarer type of perk: a training synergizer (something which blends types of training and studying together), and it's also a COMPLETE training synergizer which I've never seen before or anywhere else (normally the training synergizers I've seen link SPECIFIC skills, such as a perk from Generic Wizard which syncs how strong you are with your skill as a wizard, or a perk from Generic Culinary Warrior that links your cooking and combat skills). What this means is that if you miss out on Hyperspecialization you can go to other jumps and snag an equivalent perk there. In fact, you can actually grab something that is a MINOR improvement over Hyperspecilization, because all of the passive trainers I've seen let you passively train more than one thing at a time. It IS true that Hyperspecilization beats out these other, baby perks in how quickly it trains what you assign, but that minor aspect of its winning out is somewhat lessened in importance when you remember that placing something new in the lone slot hyperspecialization gives you resets how fast it trains the thing in question. Master of All is both less easy to compare to other existing perks and doesn't have any internal conditions that weaken active usage of it like Hyperspecialization does.
Now that's not to put you off of Hyperspecialization, if I were in a real chain I'd want to grab BOTH Hyperspecialization and Master of All (and not just because MoA completely removes the weakness of Hyperspecialization, but that's certainly a part of it haha), these are INCREDIBLY powerful perks, but one is... one is more universally useful than the other. Master of All is just an absolute S-tier perk. I cannot imagine any build where MoA is applicable where it wouldn't be an absolute GOD-TIER of a purchase. The only possible combination I could think of that might invalidate MoA would be the Sage x Spirit Touched combination from the ATLA Redux jump, and that'd be most of your base CP in a jump that has MULTIPLE sections worth of stuff to try and grab.
To put this in perspective, with a perk like this and the right combination of gamer things you can go into a setting like Chronicle and hone your telekinesis by working on your photography skills. You can become a better chef by doing your math homework and rereading whatever chapter of MacBeth you're on in English. Once you've gained the right skills you can become better at soccer and other sports while you design a website. Become a better wizard by practicing juggling. This is an incredible QoL perk that frees you from a lot of the time-crunchiness that comes with only having a decade in a setting as opposed to a lifetime. Honestly that's kind of the biggest strength of the particular nature of the Generic Gamer Jump, it does a LOT to free up your time and really let you optimize your time in a setting.

Generic Gamer As A Time Optimizer

So depending on the setting, a decade is either a LOT of time or it's BARELY any time. In Avatar the Last Airbender, a decade can be a HUGE amount of time (the entire plot of the first show is about one calendar year according to one of the show's execs), but in Harry Potter a decade is only a bit more time than the plot takes, and truthfully is barely a blink of an eye. So perks that allow you to have a special relationship with time are always good.
One of the critical facets of Generic Gamer is how it allows you to optimize time. There's definitely some underlying logic here, since game characters have INCREDIBLE growth rates, and I love that about this jump. Generic Gamer, for the cost of 50 GP lets you lose the need to sleep, the need to eat, and the need to drink. That is an INCREDIBLE boost to the amount of functional time you have in a jump, if you started your chain off as a base human and entered this jump as a non-boosted human or as an only minorly-boosted human. Getting rid of three of the most essential bodily needs for the cost of 50 points in a thing where you start off with 1350 points makes it a steal (You get different points for perks and for gamer system customization in this jump).
A big part of how essential this is, is how much time it saves you by eliminating sleep but in all honesty removing your need to drink or eat is also critical. I don't know how many jumps could safely be taken as first jumps that completely eliminate the need for sleep, food, AND water, but this one can and that's pretty OP given the costs. Also, bv eliminating the need for stuff like food and water you make entire other jumps wholly more viable. Minecraft, for example, becomes WILDLY safer if you don't have to work about starvation, since hunger is directly linked to your ability to recover from wounds but in Generic Gamer you can completely subvert this system by spending 100 GP: purchase Gamer Body (eliminating the need for food) and also purchase the HP System (which gives you fiat-backed regen, so long as you don't take a hit for a beat, giving you a passive heal much like some FPS games).
Gamer's Body & HP System guarantee you survive any setting that isn't actively trying to kill you, and also frees you up to more safely do what you want like explore or just have a good time. If you don't have to pay for food or housing for sleep, you either don't need money or you need a LOT less of it. Stuff like this is also DRAMATICALLY powerful for vampires and other creatures that are normally driven by, or at least associated with, constant hunger. Also this just makes zombie jumps hilariously easy for you to solo since the number of risks you have to take (while solo) are SO MUCH lower. Funnily enough the right set of perks here even lower the risks you have to take when you work WITH other people, as Inventory lets you both raid places by yourself (since you can store an infinite amount of stuff on you by yourself) AND lowers how much supplies you need for your friends (since time doesn't pass for stuff in your inventory, preventing it from going bad!).
This jump is also filled with training boosters, with Jack of All Trades, Experience Booster, Hyperspecialization, and Master of All all qualifying as training boosters broadly, they all just qualify as different TYPES of training boosters. This is very interesting, since one of the big things a lot of adventure jumpers will need sooner or later are training boosts of their own. The best training boost here is Experience Booster which buffs training by 100 times, a STUNNING boost to one's training, and this stacks hilariously with every other training booster here.
I have a lot of thoughts on this jump and I think I'll keep writing them down from time to time. It's just so good.

Hey everyone, this is my first reddit post ever so apologies if it is not up to mark.
I just finished my first year as a pre-med student at a state school and so far, I've gotten into Emory and Boston University to transfer. (still waiting on 2 schools) I applied to transfer because I feel like the school does not have enough opportunities and specialization for my academic interests, and also the more rural location and way of life, and lower rank. I do wish to be at a school that has more diversity, academic prestige and opportunities (esp pre-med), and a better location. Also my social life was pretty quiet until the middle of second sem for a few reasons, wouldn't rlly like that again so that is also something I am considering in my decision. Being a dude who had a pretty fun HS life, this was a bit of a weird change for me. I guess I just want a good work-life balance. I'm wondering which you guys think would be a better option out of the two. Overall I've been a pretty above-average student for basically my whole life. I have like a 3.8 gpa and a 1580 sat. I've listed my pros and cons for each school, based on what I've heard, and I guess I'd just like insight/opinions? I am definitely curious about the social life at Emory, and the supposed grade deflation at BU. Thank you!!

• (For me specifically) Its not in the city but kind of outside of it. Having grown up in a city I def do like a city vibe and lifestyle and I don't rlly know how students mesh ATL into their lives there if that makes any sense
• Bc of this, not exactly sure about what the social/party life is like there?? I don't rlly want to be somewhere where being in Greek life is the main thing but I am def curious
• I'd be flying which is ok I guess just kind of a change from being a few hrs drive from home

• I hear about grade deflation at BU? Which I feel like would be bad for my chances of getting into med school and also just stressful

28, high school grad, no college. I currently work in a blue collar “career” and I’m making about 50-60k a year. I enjoy it, but it’s incredibly stressful and I feel like my income growth is not keeping up with inflation.
Throughout my 6 years with this company I’ve been tasked multiple times with solving technical problems with our apps and computers. I spent almost a full 40 hours one week rebuilding our reporting forms from the ground up. I certainly know that working with conventional logic in a prebuilt app is not the same as IT work, I can’t tell you how engaging and enjoyable it was building out those forms. Seems stupid but the creativity and problem solving that was possible was super interesting to me. I’m still “supporting” them every few weeks when one of our techs reports problems or requests changes, and I look forward to working in the program.
I never went to school simply out of fear of student loan debt. That and I never really felt any sort of calling to any specific career. I’ve always enjoyed computer work. In high school I took a general computer class (don’t remember the class name) and it was the only class I ever got an A+ in. We did a little bit everything in that class and I had such a good time.
I did a bit of research and saw there’s a bunch of certifications you can get for IT. Is this the way forward? Spending a couple grand a my free time after work seems very manageable compared to quitting and going back to school. Without a degree and only certifications is there the possibility to hit 6 figures?
I just really feel like it’s time for a change, something I enjoy more. I also just want to be able to make more money. 50k is fine but I’d really like to make closer to 100k and I just don’t see that happening where I’m at now.

Hi all, long time lurker and first time poster from a throwaway as my main account has a lot of identifying information on it :) I hope this is the right place to post this.
TDLR: 1) I'd love feedback on my own finances right now to make sure I'm set up for success and 2) how to help my partner plan for a change in financial situation. Apologies in advance for the long post, but hoping I've shared most of the relevant info.

My own finances:

I (25F) live in a VHCOL and have been working for almost three years. My W2 TC is $122,000 (Salary $112,500 + $9500 bonus) and I anticipate that it will increase due a promotion to at least TC of $150,000, but I'm not counting these chickens before they hatch. I also have a side business (LLC) that brought in $40,000 last year, and I forecast will bring in a bit less this year (maybe around $30,000). Below is a breakdown of my savings and expenses:
Savings:
TDLR: Maxing my 401K and Roth IRA. I keep $25,000 in a HYSA for emergencies. I'm not sure if I'm sitting on too much cash.

• 401K: Currently at $42,000. I haven't always been able to max it out, but always have done at least the company match + a little bit extra. Will max it out this year, so $23,000 + 6% company match ($6750).
• Roth IRA: Currently at $27,000. I max it out every year; I was using my own Roth IRA in Fidelity and had not realized that my company also provides a match for this, so I've stopped my own contributions to the Fidelity for now and am instead doing the 6% for the match. I know the limit for Roth IRAs generally is $7000 per year - I've already contributed $1940 toward this year's limit and plan to get the full match now. How does having two Roth IRAs work? I've tried to research it and am still very confused.
• Brokerage: $76,000, all in ETFs/index funds except for $5700 which I keep in SPAXX. Should I invest the $5700 instead of letting it sit in the MM?
  • I auto transfer $800 per month into brokerage and if my checking account has too much in it, I'll toss a few thousand in.
• Primary HYSA: Emergency fund: $25,000 + Additional rainy day fund: $8,100 @ 5.5% APY
• Secondary HYSA: $1000 14% APY (14% only up to $1000, so once it's over $1000, I re-level it back to $1000 and move the money into my main HYSA)
• Checking account: $4400 to cover off credit card and rent. I use credit cards for everything, but treat them like debit cards. They are paid off every month and have never missed a payment.
• I don't have a HSA as I am still on my parents' insurance, but will move off of this onto my partner's starting next year, so may be able to open one after that move.

Monthly Expenses:
Some of these are not costs incurred monthly (such as clothes and travel - we don't travel every month and I'm not buying clothes every month), but roughly how much it would be per month from the annualized amount. No debt: No student loans, CC debt, we rent and likely will for awhile, and do not have a car.

• Rent: $1250 (We split, this is my portion)
• Clothes: $500 (My main hobby and in the middle of a wardrobe refresh. A lot of this is deducted from my LLC as the business is event planning related)
• Restaurants: $500 (My main way of hanging out with friends and how my partner and I spend time together)
• Travel: $400
• Groceries: $250
• Entertainment: $250
• Self-care: $200
• Health: $170 (Gym + fitness classes)
• Commute/transport: $125 (pre-tax benefit)
• Utilities: $120
• Uber: $50
• Subscriptions: $25

I'd love to hear any feedback or advice you have for me: Am I sitting on too much cash/how much should I keep in my checking account? Am I right to continue to prioritize putting money in the brokerage over the HYSA? What should I keep doing and what should I do differently?

My partner's finances:

My partner (25M) has been a student until now and will be starting a potentially very lucrative career in October after graduating. We've been very fortunate that both of us do not have any student loans or debt and that his expenses have been taken care of by a mix of largely scholarships and family support, so he is essentially starting from scratch. His starting TC will be around $245,000 (Salary $225,000 + Bonus $20,000) with a salary ladder for increases each subsequent year after.
We'll continue living in the same place, so rent will be the same ($1250) and we spend around the same amount on groceries ($250). Besides that, the only other expense he has is transport (~$120/month) and the gym ($10/month). I cover utilities/subscriptions for us). His only other expense is travel, which is probably around $2500 annually, which his internships in school have covered for him).
I had him set up a Roth IRA last year that he maxed out in 2023, besides that he has modest savings (~$5000 in a general savings account that likely generates next to no interest). This is the plan that I've helped laid out for him after he starts:

• Build emergency fund: I'm thinking around $25,000 in HYSA?
• Max Roth IRA since he'll be starting in October and his salary will still be below the income threshold (Am I thinking about this correctly?)
• Max 401K
• Set up a brokerage account and start chucking money in there once we get a handle on what his expenses will look like once we've not living the student life.

Beyond that I'm really not sure that makes sense and could use advice.

The finer details for that go as follows. My mother has always had a hand in most of my relationships. Contrary to what she believes, all of my partners blamed her for our break up. Whether it was her restrictive nature, her smothering, or her blatant control of my life and decisions. It was all too much for all of them. The latest ex had a slew of things to say about her. That she was a detrimental part of my life, that she was holding me back, etc. I didn’t agree with him at the time, but as more time passes, I find myself agreeing with him. So, becoming newly single I wanted to live my life solo. Be a free bird, you know what I mean? But, a woman has her needs. And when a solution to those needs come, who am I to deny it? This ‘solution’ started to become semi regular. What started as a fling became something more. However, I couldn’t tell my mom. Not just because of the taboo nature of how the relationship started. But because of her opinion of him. You see, this ‘solution’ was a friend at first. Someone I never looked twice at. Not because their sub par, but because they were my friend first before anything else. So, being a friend of mine, I would talk about him. My mom would throw small comments at him. “You can’t be with a veteran. They’re too violent and unpredictable.” (Yes, he’s a veteran that never saw combat. He was a glorified police officer who specialized in espionage and domestic violence) “He’s old. Which means he’s too intelligent and is manipulating you.” (He’s 31. I am 25/26. He is also an idiot for the most part) “Tattoos are sleazy. Only dirty people have tattoos.” (Yes, he has tattoos. And so do my family members, friends, etc. and I hope to have some as well one day when I can afford it) “He has mental illness. He’s a dangerous person.” (They do, and so do I. I’ve had depression since middle school that has caused me to self harm) To sum it up, she has an ignorant view of my ‘solution’. So, to try and please everyone, I lied. I lied about seeing him, I lied about my feelings for him, I lied about everything. All to make her happy. Did it make me happy to lie to her? No. I want to gush about someone that I’m dating. Talk about their lives and how interesting they are. Especially my mom. A person who should be a trusted confidant. But I lied. I lied because I wanted to be an adult and make my own decisions. I feel like I should have the right, you know? Make mistakes, take chances. And with this chance that i was taking, at the very least I couldn’t get pregnant (they have a vasectomy which made me more comfortable with sleeping with them). Cut to the now. My friend needs to move out of Florida out of a bad situation. I didn’t think to offer anything at first since I can’t dive that alone. However, my ‘solution’ (now partner) volunteered themselves. Not because they want to go meet my friend, or be branded the hero. They wanted the potential of an adventure with me. The tedious process of a road trip. The moments of silence and neurotic levels of talking about nonsense. Even before I go to leave my mom is dropping hints of something. You see, this is where I blame myself for a lot. I lied about a lot of this rescue mission. I said a whole other person was going to take me to Florida. I know, I know. Lying is bad. But the truth seemed worse. And I was very uncomfortable with the truth. Not because I didn’t like that truth, but because of how she’d react to said truth. So, I lied. Not my proudest moment. And she knew. Not too sure when exactly, but somewhere through it she knew. She would give little hints of, “I’m going to send you off….i need to meet the person who’s driving….etc.” I wanted to just sneak off. To run away and save my friend. But no. She came running out and demanded answers. I was stuck. All I could do was scream. Scream at 3 am in my own neighborhood. My father came forward with a seemingly ration response of, “you’re an adult, you will do what you want, you’ll make your mistakes.” Followed up by, “if you leave your mother will be miserable and it will make me miserable. So don’t make me miserable.” And there I was, stuck. My partner looking to me for my sign on what to do and desperate to talk to my trusted friend circle. Hours pass, arguments happen, insults here and there. And then the ultimatum.
“You can stay in this house if you break up with your partner. You will also now not be able to borrow my car to go anywhere outside of this borough. You will also get a full time job by February (I’ve been struggling with the job market and getting full time work). If you don’t, you will find somewhere else to live. I’m not kicking you out. You can stay here as long as you need to find a place. However, you need to leave.”
I’m floored of course. I’m 25 years old. Going in 26. I asked for adult responsibility, but not like this. So, what did I do? I had a friend come and get me who helped me pack very light bags and I left with my partner to continue my rescue mission of my friend. I’m still driving with my partner going through the motions of hysterical sadness and undeniable anger. Deciding to leave was my decision to pick myself. My freedom. My sanity. I still can’t help feeling like I did everything wrong though. That I’m the problem. Maybe I am. Maybe I’m not. Either way, I’ll be a free problem

MY REBUTTAL TO THE OBLIGATORY “IS THIS A SCAM?” QUESTION:
At the risk of sounding arrogant, I consider myself to be at least marginally more intelligent (both academically & socially) than the average person. Therefore, if I ever decided to suddenly risk prison time, risk my reputation, and risk enduring the wrath of modern-day “cancel culture” by scamming people out of their money:

• I certainly wouldn’t do it for such paltry amounts of money. (i.e., anything less than $1,000 per victim.)
• I certainly wouldn’t choose high school & college students as my “target audience” to scam, considering that most people without college degrees have abysmally low annual incomes. Why choose low-income victims when it would be much more profitable to target high-income, high-net-worth individuals earning at least six figures a year? I have knowledge in business consulting, and I promise you that a business owner would be a MUCH more lucrative mark than a low-income college student.
• I wouldn’t choose such a time & energy-draining method of scamming people. Also, communicating back and forth with potential clients is an absurdly long time sink since only less than 10% of all potential clients who reach out to me actually become paying clients of mine. This means that 90% of my time communicating with potential clients ultimately proves to be a colossal waste of my irretrievable time & energy.
• If you pay me to provide academic services and I don’t deliver, you can always dispute the payment with the payment app and easily get your money refunded. If I were in the habit of swindling money from people, then all of my payment accounts would have been investigated and be completely shut down by now. And I would have been permanently banned from opening new accounts. Therefore, the fact that all my payment apps have been fully active for years should be sufficient proof that I haven’t had people consistently disputing payments sent to me.

Hi everyone. I’m new here. I started watching BBT in the summer of 2012 when I finished middle school to when the show ended and I watched Young Sheldon from when it started to when it ended too. So here’s a fun fact about me. The dumbest thing I got bullied for growing up (for me it was high school) was for liking this show. I’m not joking. And what’s funny is that everyone who bullied me for liking BBT (cuz it was a show about nerds and how I was and am a nerd in real life too) all posts on social media now about how much they like YS and is sad it’s ending. Like, are you joking me? Do you not realize that YS is a prequel to BBT? But I want to know if anyone else got bullied just for liking BBT too or is it just me? Everyone I ever told about how I got bullied for liking BBT back in high school all tells me it’s a good show and that it was stupid I got bullied for liking a tv show.

I enjoy instructing but it sucks being broke all the time. I’ve got over 1500 hours, almost all of it in 172s or pa-28s. I don’t have cfii or mei, the school I work for doesn’t have a multi and my schedule is already maxed out with private and commercial students so I don’t really see the point. I do have multi engine land on my commercial certificate but I only have ~35 hrs of multi total. 0 turbine. What kind of jobs should I be looking for? I don’t think another 1000 hours in single engine trainers will make me much more competitive or am I wrong? I am willing to move across the country or live in the middle of nowhere if necessary.

Imagine a world where education from K-12 and even through higher education is accessible, free, and tailored to each individual's needs and interests without any of the predatory business practices or commuting to worry about.
With AI systems as robust as GPT4o appears to be; namely being equipped with vision and voice capabilities, I think Education would be one of the most practical and impactful ways to implement this technology.
Technology like ChatGPT4o could be the foundation of such a system. It already seems capable of interacting naturally with students, understanding their needs, and providing personalized learning experiences.
The technology certainly appears at a glance to be robust enough to replace tutors for primary education and support students through higher education.
We need to gather the best educators across various levels of education to collaborate on the design of comprehensive, adaptable curriculums. Leveraging AI, we'd be able to make sure curriculums are continuously updated and improved based on the latest educational research and feedback.
While ChatGPT4o is envisioned to be free for everyone, ensuring that everyone has the necessary devices and internet access would be crucial. This is of course an initiative we need our governments working on.
Non-profits and education organizations that actually want people educated and thinking critically would likely be easy to get behind such a goal in numbers.
Even if it wasn't implemented directly into schools but instead used as a supplementary source of high quality guidance and feedback. Or as a way to fast track kids who show extra promise when interacting with these AI Tutors and Curriculums.
I feel like this big of a leap could easily revolutionize the future of education.
Not only can we make education more accessible, but we could also make it more engaging and personalized, allowing people to finally discover their full potential!
How feasible does such a revolution seem to anyone else here? What would some of the key concerns be for you in such a system?
My biggest concerns would be the wrong people being able to mandate the contents of said curriculums, but we've already got that going on as it is.

hi! i’m a high school student who is dead- set on applying to stony brook’s basic baccalaureate program for nursing in my senior year. i just wanted to come on here and maybe hear outside opinions on my chances of getting admitted? a lot of my friends and family members think i can do it, but i know that the program is extremely selective, and i’d definitely appreciate any help i could get in strengthening my application! here it is:

• 4.0 unweighted GPA
• by the end of H.S. i would have taken 14 college level/ AP classes, some of which being from a local community college
• i haven’t taken the SAT so i can’t report that yet unfortunately
• i’m the co- president of a club at my school, and later this year i will be running for secretary for another club, where i also have other leadership experience
• i’m in many clubs, most of which i’ve stuck with since the beginning of high school
• i’m in all of the honors societies with the exceptions of math, science and art (that’s so embarrassing when applying to a STEM school ngl but it’s because i didn’t work hard enough in earth science/ algebra 1 when i took them in middle school. that was the covid era for me)
• i have extensive amounts of community service hours, in- school and outside of school

again, i’m really set on applying to stony brook, and i’m willing to do what i can in order to get in. it really seems like a great school, from what i’ve heard, and i’m super excited to (hopefully) be able to attend. with that being said, is admission for me possible? is there anything i could do to improve my application? (i know the information i gave is pretty limited and i apologize for that. maybe i’ll update this post with my SAT score in june and see what happens?)

I want to talk about who I was before getting introduced to this monstrosity. I was a 19-year old teen who was living in his prime. I was studying molecular biochemistry, in which I was really interested in from middle school. I had a fun part time job in a lab which paid me a lot, enough to feed a family of four, to say the least. I had lots of friends, a good social network, a loving and caring girlfriend... Everything I could have ever wanted. Each of days was extremely fun and I remember how enjoyable of a life I had. I also played the bass in a small band and even won a minor song contest. Life was, good. Then one of my high-school friends told me that there was this huge game called Albion Online and that they were all going to start playing the game. This seemed like a fun idea, since we have already done stuff like this in other games. Little did I know, this would change the entirety of my life, forever. That particular Saturday night was spectacular. We had so much fun that I had to call in sick in order to play more. A week of no school couldn't hurt, could it? I was going to go to work again after a week too. Except that I suddenly decided to drop out and quit my job. My family disowned me, my girlfriend broke up with me. They don't know, I thought, that I had to run more dungeons in order to get to T8. I spent the next year wasting my saved up money on Albion, premium was quite expensive after all. I had no idea that the real world around me was slowly falling apart. When I ran out of money, I started to sell my ex-girlfriends nudes online, when I ran out again, I would go onto the streets and beg people for spare change. But life was still good, what can I say? I was having too much fun with my guild until when the disaster striked. Our guild leader was going to meet another guild leader and buy war-mammoths for us. We paid him beforehand so that each of us could get that mammoth. Now, I have to explain my love for mammoths. I value this mount so much that I sold my apartment which I have bought when I still was a student and bought gold with it. When we sent our guild leader, we never heard of him for months, he was gone. We were scammed. Everything was gone. My life had lost its meaning. I couldn't live without this. I checked my wallet only to see my credit card debt and my student debt combined. Now I am in 300.000 dollars in debt and I have no one to actually talk to or get help from What should I do? This game ruined my life and I cannot just get everything back by doing a 10-hour gathering session this time. (I have already sold my left kidney, my right eye, my left testicle and both of my pinky fingers on the black market to pay some of the debt)

Calculus 2 (by far hardest but also my favorite): - Integrals (all transformations, indefinite integral, definite integral..) - Uses of integrals (Calculating area, volume, circumference..) - Partial Derivatives (Total differential, extremes...) - Differential Equations (Bernoulii, linear, homogeneous...)
Calculus 3: - Scalar and Vector fields (Gradient, Divergence, Rotor (Curl)...) - Line integrals (Green's theorem, first order and second order line integrals) - Surface integrals (Stokes theorem, Divergence theorem..) - Complex Analysis (Analytical functions, divergence, complex integrals .. ) - Series (Taylor..) - Differential Equations (but this time with Laplace transformations)
I'm making this post in hopes that someone else who feels beat down and depressed (like I used to) could maybe find some reassurance and motivation in completing anything that presents a huge academic struggle for them.
I was someone who was pretty horrible at math in my high school. I missed a lot of months of education in my middle school because of some very serious health issues that I was dealing with. I was primarily studying only enough of it to pass, with very unimpressive 2s (Ds) and some occasional 3s (Cs).
When I enrolled in faculty of mechanical engineering, I felt like a biggest dumbass of anyone who was in same year as me. I couldn't for the life of me absorb the material from even some basic subjects like Materials, let alone Calculus 1. I failed Calculus 1 3 times, before I finally realized where I was making some pretty big fuckups. I took my time, I started learning the basics in hopes of building a better foundation for success.
And you wouldn't believe it, I actually passed it, in fact I passed my oral exam on 1st try. It finally felt like I was able to achieve something that I personally believed I wasn't capable of, I proved myself wrong.
I passed calculus 2 and 3 on my 1st try (both written and oral exams) and I've honestly reached the level where people come to me in order to have some stuff from these subjects explained. Keep in mind, some of these people are people that I would compare myself against and feel stupid and inadequate, and yet here I am explaing ins and outs of trigonometric transformation to them.
Point is, you can do it. You're not stupid and you are not lesser than your peers. The only person that you should be competing against is yourself. Perserverence, hard work and strong will (mixed with bit of stubbernes in my case) will get you far and you're going to impress yourself.
