2024.05.14 08:30 BabyDollPuddin Bumps on the hands and elbows

Hello Docs, I am 20F, my height and weight are irrelevant I believe but I am in a good range for both. I am a type 1 diabetic so already have an auto immune disease and skin problems run in the family, excema, psoriasis, etc.
I am just seeking some information on these bumps on the joints of my hands as well as my elbows.
They're itchy, dry and overall are just irritating, I've been having them for a year or so now I believe.
I can't find any similarities between when they pop up, as it could be days between them or months, only that if I have them and get stressed out or have a lot of anxiety they become significantly worse, itching more, more appear, etc.
I don't tend to get them on my hands and elbows at the same time, and they're more prevalent on my dominant hand (right hand) than my non dominant hand.
They're not like spots/pimples as I can't really pop them if I try to, and If I do that just irritates them more.
I try to use Dermol500 cream or Oilitum cream regularly when they appear, which provides a bit of relief for a short while.
I also very rarely get them up my forearms.
Unfortunately because I cannot find a common factor in when they appear, I haven't been able to go to the GP in time for when they do, I have been trying to take photos whenever I can so I can seek clarity, but want to see what people here say.
Thank you! (I wanted to add photos but cannot due to guidelines of the community)

Armpit and leg rash after shaving
I consistently get a rash on my armpit every time I shave, went to a minute clinic and got super strong psoriasis cream. But it keeps coming back. However, more recently my calves have felt like fire ant bites and as I scratch these little bumps are starting everywhere. Not pimples because I can’t pop them and super itchy. I use cetaphil lotion for it but the itch doesn’t stop. And if shaving upsets my skin what else should I try?! Please help!! I have a wedding in August and I don’t want these rashes and hairy armpits 😭 (I also use dove soap for sensitive skin and tide gentle pods for my clothes)

Bump in re opened previous piercing
So I had a nose piercing that I had for around 4-5 years and a septum piercing I had around 2 years. Due to a long hospital stay and surgery I took them out around 3 years ago and assumed they had closed. I went to a piercer today to get them repierced and to my surprise they were still open. She use a taper to get a piercing into both. It was painful but not the same as getting the piercing brand new. Now just a few hours after getting it I have a giant bump that’s itchy and tender in the inside of my nose next to my septum piercing. It’s not on the septum piercing but pretty close. It feels hard and pointy I’m assuming it’s a pustule but not sure. How do I fix this and keep it clean assuming it’s so high up in my nose. And I don’t know if piercing care and rules are different since my holes were only stretched open again not actually pieced. Any advice is appreciated.

[Acne] Please help. I feel like I’ve tried everything.
The tiny bumps are what really bother me. The texture is awful. I’ve had acne and inflammation before, but never the rash-like bumps. They are all over my cheeks and chin. If I squeeze really really hard, a small white string comes out but they never go away and have been steadily getting worse. They are not itchy.
For reference, the last picture is what my skin looked like in February. I haven’t had any major changes, same skincare, diet, and meds as always. The only derm that takes my insurance is booked until October. I went to my GP and she prescribed me tretinoin 0.025% and a clindamycin/benzoyl peroxide cream. I use the tret twice a week and the cream every night. Otherwise, my routine is:
AM: Rinse face with water Innisfree cherry gel cream Paula’s choice SPF
PM: Paula’s choice cleanser Innisfree cherry gel water cream Benzoyl peroxide cream or tret depending on the night Hydrocolloid patches as needed
I am also on hormonal BC for a separate issue. I sleep on my back and wash my pillowcases. I’ve never had skin this bad and it’s really demoralizing. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? Thank you.

2024.05.14 05:30 Beautiful_Bit_7318 What’s this bump on my skin

What’s this bump on my skin
20, female here. I had a blood test done over 2 weeks ago and over the needle injection site formed a disfigured bump (the bump formed on the same day and continues to exist). It was really itchy on the first 2 days after the blood test and even now after over 2 weeks, the back of my hand still itches sometimes. What could this be and why would this happen? Could it be caused by an infection of sorts? It doesnt hurt though. Is this something to worry about?

2024.05.14 05:27 itadorichoso After the doctor saying it wasn’t bed bugs: it was

It’s been weeks… I’ve been waking up with randomly placed (mostly individual) itchy bumps. Some were small some felt more like mosquito bites. Obviously they were irritating me so I went to a doctor who seemed to think they weren’t bed bugs because of how sporadically the itchy spots were. Well guess what I found today! One, singular bed bug. After flipping my mattress for weeks and washing my things, one made itself known despite me unable to find its droppings or exoskeletons. I decided to flip my mattress once again cause I got two next to each other and knew that sh!t couldn’t be anything else right? Well now I’m cooked.
What should I do while I’m waiting for my landlord to get an exterminator to come check it out? I mean, it quite literally was one and I had no prior evidence (minus my random bites) beforehand so hopefully it’s not too bad… should I be concerned about my things. The people I live with seem fine but now they are spooked obviously. Now everyone’s skin is crawling.
But to that doctor who didn’t think it was bed bugs: please refund me and try again, ty. Granted, it was weirdly placed spots (primarily right arm. One or two on different parts of my leg. It was the two on the elbow and two new ones on the side that had me flipping the bed again)

2024.05.14 04:38 Signal_Worker_6908 I’ve had these bumps pop up all over my body for a few months, it scabies?

I’ve had these bumps pop up on my body (mainly my feet, hands and torso. They are constantly itchy I’ve tried tons of creams because at first I thought it was eczema but then my boyfriend started saying he got bumps to. My dr said it was dust mite allergy and it was the reaction at first, and another said eczema, finally I went to a third and she told me it was scabies. I got the treatment for me and my boyfriend we both did it cleaned all our sheet’s clothes and anything we can think of. 1 month later and it’s getting worse, I’m constantly itching them and he’s popping the small bumps on him, I’ve tried tea tea oil treatments and it hasn’t worked any help is appreciated.

Wondering if I’m struggling with blepharitis
My left eye has been giving me trouble for about 8 months now. It was always super itchy and I would get bumps on my eyes and my eyelid would become dry/painful. I also frequently get a bunch of eye boogers stuck in between my lashes and would have to rip them out for it to come out.
Other times I would get extremely teary eyed and have a bunch of liquid boogers. It’s acting up again. I just got insurance so I’m trying to get into an ophthalmologist

2024.05.14 01:57 Immediate_Peanut5096 Red circular raised itchy rash keep appearing on mainly lower extremities only.

I am 23 y/o F, H: 5' 2", W: 145 lbs, Race: South asian, currently living in US.
cc: experiencing red, circular, raised, itchy rash, warm to touch mainly on my legs. REFERENCE PHOTO
These rashes first appeared when I traveled to South Asia last summer. I woke up with chunky rashes all over my thighs and shins. You could see each individual bumps, they didn't all mesh together into one huge mass. They were circular but not perfectly. About 1inch in diameter. I used a very strong steroid to cope with the itching. As the rashes healed, they became blue bruises and then left small dark scars on my legs. It took about 2 wks for them to clear up.
After coming back to US, I had 1 flare up of these rashes about 4 months ago. Same in appearance and healing time as the initial rashes.
1 month, I started getting these rashes out of nowhere again. Same in appearance and healing time. Unlike the last 2 episodes of these rashes, where I would about 10 bumps all at once and they would go away within 2 wks, this time, I keep getting 2-3 new rashes every other day. Right now, I only have this one big rash at the back of my right knee ( SEE HERE ) and 2 small ones on my ankles that are almost done healing. It's extremely itchy and hot. The one behind my knee is SO RED. I have never seen any of these rashes look THIS red so it's kind of scaring me.
Also, noting that most of my rashes have only been on my legs. Except for the current episode that started 1 month ago, I got some on my lower back-upper buttock area and 1 bump on my arm.
Please help me figure out what might be going on. By the time, I manage to get any derm appt, the rashes go away and I always end up consulting the docs on the scars rather than the active episodes.
I do not drink/smoke/do drugs. Don't have any severe food allergies that I know of. I have gotten allergy tested before for ~30 allergens and nothing causes me hives. I haven't been spending time outdoor where I can attribute these rashes to bug bites. I haven't used any new cosmetics or eaten anything new. Nothing foreign in my environment that I can note.

2024.05.14 01:26 routan Minor rash fixes?

Hi I’ve been on 60 mg of cymbalta for about a month. It’s made me feel so much better. I had to be in an inpatient facility to get on it due to severe side effects I get from all antidepressants. I really do not want to change my meds at all. I just figured out it was not the detergent making my skin react and I will be seeing a dermatologist in a few days. Does anyone have recommendations to help control the itchy bumps on my face without changing meds. Im taking allergy meds too.

2024.05.14 00:03 Imaginary-Top8459 My experience with perioral dermatitis and my *current* remission

I have been experiencing perioral dermatitis for the better part of a year and I thought that I should share my experience and my *current* remission, including the process of which I *healed* my perioral dermatitis.
Presentation:
I presented with a rash that was very red and bumpy around the perioral region, including the nasolabial folds, the tip of the nose (with only redness), the sides of my chin, and just under my nose on the philtrum.
The rash itself was very red, bumpy, and itchy. It felt as if I had a severe sunburn and felt raw, as if I had been blowing my nose for a week straight.
The rash began one day after using a new vitamin C serum, but I believe this is also when I was trialing nasal steroids for post-nasal drip. I can't remember exactly.
Diagnosis/Treatment process:
I initially felt that the use of betametasone (topical steroid) would help the rash and I had some on hand, as I believed it was an irritant reaction to the new vitamin C serum I had used (or that it burned my skin). The steroids temporarily resolved the rash. I discontinued the new vitamin C serum (and nasal steroids, as I didn't like them), but the rash returned. At this point, I knew it was perioral dermatitis and the steroids weren't a good course of action, so I discontinued this too unless it was extremely irritated to temporarily relieve the burning/ripping sensation.
I then saw a dermatologist, who agreed with me that this was perioral dermatitis. I was advised to discontinue the topical steroids and to refrain from heavy moisturizers, which I had already done, but the rash persisted.
I work at an allergy clinic and decided to complete cosmetic patch testing to identify any potential contact allergens. Patch testing identified formaldehyde, propylene glycol, linalool, and gallates, of which are in almost every cosmetic I own.
I researched new cosmetics that I can use (as I am very into skin care) and found new cosmetics that were allergen free and safe for me to use, including my shampoo and conditioner(s), with the help of incidecoder.com (awesome website to find cosmetics free of specific ingredients).
The perioral rash resolved and the bumps, itchiness, and ripping sensation resolved after a week of my new skincare regimen. The redness slowly went down and it was as if everything was resolving.
After a month or two, the rash came back (though not as bad). I then decided to switch my toothpaste to a fluoride-free (and also SLS free by chance). This resolved the rash again, and it did not persist.
I did some work on a car part (that involved sanding, wearing a respirator, etc)., and my rash came back. I am also very allergic to thiuram, and I suspect that the mask had thiuram in it (also allergic to the epoxy in the clear coat, so that might have also played a role).
At this point, the rash was only really redness (which never really fully resolved) and a dehydration line in the nasolabial folds, but I did not have any itching, burning, or any visible bumps.
Over time, the rash subsided again. Except, now, every time I apply skin care (even ones I am not allergic to), I develop pin-sized red bumps all over the perioral region that look like tiny pimples (white top), though unpoppable. However, this occurs immediately after application of some skin care products (though not consistent; sometimes my cleanser, sometimes toner, sometimes moisturizer, etc), and then resolves within 30 minutes. This suggests to me that it is an irritant dermatitis and not an allergic reaction to my cosmetics.
Currently, I hypothesized that my previous perioral dermatitis, due to allergic reaction, fluoride, steroids, and/or thiuram, etc., compromised my skin barrier and I am now dealing with an irritant dermatitis.
I have removed all actives from my skincare regimen (was exfoliating every few days/twice weekly), removed treatment serums (i.e., THD ascorbate/vitamin C, niacinamide, etc), and decided to focus on repairing my skin barrier.
My current skincare regimen:
  1. Farmacy/Clean it Zero cleansing balm (at night)
  2. Dermalogica ultracalming cleanser (at night)
  3. Anua heartleaf 77 soothing toner (morning and night)
  4. Skin 1004 Hyalu-cica hydrating serum (morning and night)
  5. Skin 1004 centella ampoule (morning and night)
  6. Peter thomas roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Rich Barrier Moisturizer (morning and night)
  7. Supergoop Unseen screen (morning)
  8. A thin layer of penaten diaper rash cream all over the nasolabial folds, cheeks, and chin area (at night).
Following this regimen, I have had a full remission of my rash, including the redness and the dehydration lines are beginning to subside. I have been on this regimen for just under a week now.
Moral of the story,
  1. Remove fluoride, steroids, and the common perioral dermatitis triggers from regimen.
  2. Check for contact allergens. Almost all "hypoallergenic" or "allergen-free" products that I have found contain my allergens, as propylene glycol is not a common "allergen" in cosmetics.
  3. Focus on repairing skin barrier and hydration.
  4. Apply zinc barrier cream at night and/or in the morning if rash is particularly bad.
It may also be helpful to investigate for nutrient deficiencies. During this time, I also had dry, flakey skin (especially over my forehead/eyebrows) that I had considered was as fungal reaction; however, it was resistant to both moisturization and topical clotrimazole (anti-fungal cream). I was then found to be extremely vitamin D deficient, and the dryness/flaking went away with regular vitamin D supplementation!
Photos:
1-2. When my rash was its most symptomatic
  1. Cut out allergens, rash was beginning to settle.
  2. Rash gone, but left with extremely dry and flakey skin.
  3. Rash/irritant dermatitis immediately following application of any skin care product
  4. My skin 5 minutes ago, with a skincare regimen focused on barrier repair, void of known contact allergens, and applying zinc barrier cream at night time.
I hope that this may be of benefit to someone!

Hello everyone, this is from a cousin who lives in Long Beach, CA. She's just noticed these bumps on her elbow this morning, says their really itchy and has no idea what could have caused this. Some facts: 1.) She has a dog, but she's on flea medication and was.groomed a little over a week ago with anti-flea shampoo also. 2.) She checked her bed, no sign of bed bugs yet... 3.) She's checked the dog, no sign of fleas
Does anyone recognize this pattern of bites? Is it a rash?
