So, English is not my first language even though I had studied it for years now, so, any grammatical error, please be excused. I also want to point out a few things up, this story is LONG, as it says on the title, we’ve been together for almost a decade, so there’s a lot of things to patch up, also, I’m not trying to paint him as the bad guy nor myself as the good guy, just trying to let it all out because there’s some details I cannot say to everyone I know, so it’s better for me to just talk about it with internet strangers, also, I don’t know if this place has a limit of characters, so if it has, it’s going to be some parts long.
So, to start this, I (27 F), broke things with my bf (26 M) Alan (Not his real name) after we’ve been together for little less than a decade because I was just so fed up with everything we lived together, not having the strength to even try and give this another go as he wanted us to. A year before meeting him on my last school year I was s*xually Ass*ulted by a man that I met on a park where I used to go dancing, not only that, but he made me believe that I was okay with what happened (I was sixteen and he was 21, here the age of consent is not until the 18th mark), he made me believed that I liked it, and made me believe that no one would ever believe me if I ever decided to report it, so I didn’t, but obviously it got me a pretty bad scar.
I met Alan one year later, his friend group was friends with my friend group, so in school we kinda merged together and he was a good guy, a great guy even, he always had something nice to say about me and he never blamed me for being scared of a group of people so anytime I wanted to buy something on the school market, he did it for me until he tried to make me come across my fear and was just behind me as I was approaching the big group gather on the market trying to make me feel confident enough to buy things by myself, after that we became closer and closer until one day I went with my friend group to recess with his friend group, but he wasn’t there, I asked one of his friends and he told me that he wasn’t feeling right and was still on the classroom, so off I went and looked up for him, we talked for a while and then he thank me for listening to him and not bug him with the “guys don’t cry”, that made us even more close to eachother and we started something, not a relationship, but a situationship from mid July to late November, when I graduated from school (He had one more year to go), on my celebration date, he asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes, I made him meet my family shortly after and I met his.
He was a part-time gamer, and the first straw was that he believed that I would made him choose between his games or me, but no, I didn’t, even so, I asked him to teach me how to play so we could play together, I was not good, at all, but I was just glad to be on his hobbies, little did I know that would be one of the reasons I broke things off. We had fights and arguments because he was a competitive type of guy on this online games and, because I was bad at them, we usually lost games because of me, it took us a lot of work to find a solution, he had to put down some bars, because it was not healthy, also the first “or else” that he made me aware of, was when I told him that I needed him to express his emotions to me, but he took it as “Show emotions or I’m leaving you” which wasn’t the case, but worked up just fine.
Some years passed and… You remember what I told you about the year before meeting Alan? Well, we couldn’t get intimate in that way and I had to sit him and explained what happened, he was supportive and we didn’t do it after our four year mark, but again, he wasn’t as supportive as I recall, he usually push over it and only stopped moments before I got a flashback of what happened. But that one time that we did it, I remember it well, I started crying out of emotion because I finally overcame my fear, but after we finished, he stood up, we cleaned ourselves and he made me get ready because he didn’t want to be late to a friend’s birthday. Speaking of intimacy, he had a really big drive and I didn’t, but every time I tried to say “no”, he got all frustrated so I started initiating moments after I saw him like that so I could brush that feeling off of him, our intimacy was like that until just months before our breakup.
Now into another thing, I have always work, even when I was still at school, I’ve always worked to get my things, I’m not good at saving money, but I work my butt off, so when he started to gain interest on a particular expensive game, we usually used his mother credit card and the one paying it was me, he said that when he worked he bought things for us, but… This is the thing about it… He only worked 5-6 months in all of our relationship, sure, he went with his father some times to do some work, but he didn’t even saw that money because it went directly to a gaming console for himself, so in years that we’ve been together, he worked 5-6 months and the rest was payed from myself and he still took his time working as a sort of argument against me.
Now, one time, when I was on the university, a random classmate just suddenly kissed me and I was in shock, so in shock that I didn’t kissed him back, nor could I stop him, but when he went for a second one, I backed out and I went to my boyfriend crying because I thought I was cheating on him because someone kissed me and I explained every detail to him, but the guy dropped off from college, so I never saw him again and then, another day, I was in the subway and encounter my ex boyfriend while he was, actually, coming back home after his own studies, I ignored him for the most part, but he actually asked politely to let him talk to me, so we went to a public park and he actually just wanted to say sorry because he cheated on me with his ex girlfriend while he was with me, we didn’t do anything besides me listening to him and giving him the closure he was searching for, we did not stay in contact, I just said to him that it was not something that I keep on mind to this day, but if it made him feel better, I would accept his apology and then we parted ways, everything I did and said I made my boyfriend aware of and he was such in a panic that one of his friends actually went to his house and they talked shit about me because I dared to let my ex ask for my forgiveness. Those are the only two time that I recall I made him feel insecure, two times and that’s it and he wasn’t letting any of those things go any time we got into an argument.
I remember one time we actually parted ways for some days and I kissed a girl, a girl that I have liked for a very long time and only then I figured that she actually liked me back, but I was stupid enough to not go for her, and wait for this guy for us to get back together and I actually told him everything, I know I shouldn’t do it, because it would only made him feel like on the edge, but by that time I felt like it was better to come clean about everything, he knew everything about me, it was only fair that I keep it like that. But then he got jealous everything I said I was talking to her in a friendly way (he never was banned from looking into my phone) and now I understand that his jealousy was not that unfounded, because I kissed this girl while we were separated.
There was numerous times when I wanted to break things with him, but he always managed to made me come back to him, one time we were walking on the sidewalk and I told him how I felt and that I was thinking about breaking up, he got on the ground, took a piece of glass and tried to h*rm himself, but I stopped him and we never talked about it again. Another time I was home, not at work because I was injured and we had a phone fight, not breaking up, but making it subtle, then a couple hours after that I received another phone call from an Unknown number, telling me that he almost threw himself on the subway and, Injured as I was, I went to get him and Uber us to his home.
I had to make two limits for him, I didn’t want him to call me before checking if it was possible for me to talk on the phone, unless it was an emergency, of course. And that I didn’t want him to go to my home unannounced, because he did it too much and he did not respect those boundaries until there was yet another conversation about breaking up and just then, he stopped doing it. He also lied to me one time when he went to the bus stop at freaking 7 am with the excuse of “I just wanted to get some air” and the proceeded to talk to me all the way about his problems and follow me to my workplace, and then he had the audacity to get mad when I told him I couldn’t stay longer because I had to get to work, just when we finally broke off he came clean that he was, obviously, trying to get a hold of me and not “Trying to get some air” as he tried to make me believe. I even started to go to my destinations by other means because I was afraid I would encounter him in every corner that I usually go to.
One of my college friends started a relationship with one of his friends and now that we broke things off, neither of them talk to me, so I am not sure what sort of fairytale he told them in which, he obviously was not in the wrong at all.
I am not asking if I was the AH here, nor asking if I should talk to him again, I am pretty confident That I shouldn’t, I just wanted to vent, thanks for anyone who would read this loooooong story. Cheers.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7L 2005
Jeep spent about 6 months in my yard as it needs some work, mostly around suspension. Engine works well.
Charged the battery and started it. Went to take it around the block to make sure everything is good but noticed the electronic pedal is odd.
When pushed down, it only very slowly comes back up, which makes the jeep give itself gas abnormally. Makes things dangerous so I plan on fixing that before anything else. Never did that in the past.
Should I be looking at the electronic throttle itself or something else?

I have a suspion that its the legacy of the dragonborn but I'm not entirely sure I have no idea what it is also lotdb started playing dungeon music after I did the robbery quest which usually happens after completing it I pulled my load order from loot so maybe one of yall will have the answer also I tried the music removal command but it persists I don't mind lotdb interior music messed up but hearing solstheim music on a loop in regular skyrim is annoying especially the same song over and over again the only thing I did was add community shaders recently for parallax heres my load order

I'm trying to make the spiritual successor to Xwing for 90s DOS everyone craved, but Lucas Arts never delivered. I was also inspired by Wing Commander Privateer who's title led me to imagining building a giant fleet by buying more and more ships and making friends.

I'm exhausted... I spent close to a year on this patch... And the last 3 months was nothing but sleep, code, sleep, code, body necessities, balanced against being stress sick, normal sick, and trying not to break down due to being isolated non stop working... 2024.05.13 22:19 AdAppropriate7838 2nd year ELEC experience/overview

Wasn't able to find one post that summarized 2nd year ELEC before I did it so I thought I'd make one. This is my personal opinion and an average student's perspective (sometimes even below average lol). 2nd year is a lot of mixed opinions about everything.
You want to have MATH 101, PHYS 158, APSC 160 and MATH 152 completed before starting 2nd year. Standardly you'll be taking 39 credits in the winter session. Although it's very common to take fewer (in fact I'd recommend it) credits.
Term 1 looks like: ELEC 201(4), CPEN 211(5), MATH 253(3), MATH 256(3), CPSC 259(4). Term 2 looks like: ELEC 202(4), ELEC 211&MATH264 (3), ELEC 221(4), ELEC 281(3), ELEC 291(6). You could take MATH 253 in the summer before 2nd year, take ELEC 281 before 2nd year after you've been placed in ELEC or also take it the summer after 2nd year. Utilize your summers to complete as many complimentary studies, free, impact requirement electives as you can. There is an option to take ELEC 291 in the summer after 2nd year as well but I wouldn't recommend that as it's a very time consuming design course and I've heard it's run differently in the summer and isn't as worthwhile in terms of what you learn.
ELEC 201: One of the harder courses in term 1, isn't very time consuming but isn't easy either. First time you'll be giving WebWork exams so the average is low but you'll be fine. Do the homework and attend class. I took it with Alireza Nojeh who was a good prof. Lectures were very organized and he writes and explains everything as he goes which is nice. Isn't scaled or scaled very slightly. Practice the WebWorks and lecture notes and also follow Linares's YouTube channel regardless whether he teaches it or not. Difficulty: 3.75/5.
CPEN 211: Hardest course in term 1 imo. Very time consuming, especially the labs, which would sometimes take entire weekends and eat time out of other courses and aren't even worth 2% each. So find a good lab partner. There's a lot to cover so be up to date. Although the lectures aren't very helpful. I'd suggest keeping up with the slides and making notes and GOING TO ANY TUTORIAL AND LECTURE where he/the TAs solve problems. Took it with Tor who teaches it almost every year. Too much content to be covered in lectures but he is helpful in office hours/after lectures. Do as many problems as you can find and try and understand every concept. Difficulty 4.5/5.
MATH 253: One of the easier courses in 2nd year. In a non-ideal situation can be done in a short time as well. Easier compared to MATH 100 and 101. In math practice is very useful so try and do as many problems be it before the exams or throughout the term. The course is taught online so is easily procrastinated but Professor Leonard and Alexandra Niedden on YouTube are very good resources. Took it with Mark MacLean who is a GOATED math prof. Clear communication from him about what's expected and needs to be done. Difficulty: 2.5/5
MATH 256: Easiest course in 2nd year imo (partially because of the prof). Cannot be done in a short time but is easily followed throughout the term. As usual practice is key. Took it with Neil Balmforth who is also GOATED. He makes the course much easier, the other section didn't have as nice of a time. His midterms and finals were basically identical to the sample midterms and finals. Difficulty: 2/5
CPSC 259: It's a much more theoretical than APSC 160. The only nice parts were the labs because they were coding and not theory. The quizzes and final were mostly theory and on PraireLearn so limited attempts (usually 2) which made the tests very very hard. Took it with Geoffery Tien who usually teaches it. He's a nice guy but okayish at teaching. Very monotonous. I read the textbook and did it's problems which really helped. Difficulty: 3.5/5.
ELEC 202: A hard course but Linares makes you spend so much time on it, it doesn't feel as difficult as the other courses by the end. Another course graded by WebWork so marks aren't easily obtained. Make sure you understand all the WebWorks, TopHat and questions from the slides. Linares imo is one of the best teachers I've had and is very knowledgeable about EE. But his personality takes a lot away from him as a professor. This course will solidify a lot of basics for you, some that you might have overlooked in 201 but they way he runs the course does make it unnecessarily time consuming and challenging. I'd say do take the course with him regardless of the horror stories, you'll be glad you did later on but be ready for having a weird time in this course. And yeah follow his YouTube channel like your life depends on it. Difficulty: 4/5
ELEC211 & MATH264: These 2 are run together as a one 3 credit course ELEC 211(2) and MATH 264(1). I pretty much had to do this course on your own. It isn't very time consuming but the term that it's in and the way it's taught will make it feel challenging. Took it with Carol Jaeger who taught the 211 part and Professor Demirbas who taught the 264 part. I don't mean to be rude but both were basically useless. I don't know if Professor Jaeger tried to teach because I stopped going after a few weeks that's how bad it was. It felt like she was just there because she has to be. For Professor Demirbas the way he teaches was very weird. Read a few nice things about him but didn't have the same experience. He speaks and teaches too fast for anyone to be able to learn anything but that might be because they're making him teach most of a 3 credit course (MATH 317-Calculus IV) as a one credit course in about 6-7 lectures all this along with a theory driven electromagnetics course. I'd recommend watch the last 4-5 lecutures of Professor Leonard's Calc III YouTube playlist right in the beginning of the course. That'll cover the MATH portion. Then follow the math lectures to practice and use that math you learnt to understand the ELEC portion. Wasn't able to find a goof YouTube resource for the ELEC part but just watch a bunch of different videos for each topic I guess. WebWorks are good practice. Difficulty: 4/5 (should've been 3 but the way they run it).
ELEC 221: A hard course depending on your proclivity for mathematics. It's a whole lot of new concepts so it's reasonable it'll be difficult. If the concepts of Fourier Series, Laplace Transforms (also in ELEC 202) and Differential Equations that you learnt in MATH 256 are really clear, that'll help. Took it with Joseph Yan who is a very kind and helpful person, but he just refuses to teach for some reason. He'll ask you to watch 1 or 2 20-30 minute videos before the week and the lectures will basically be a slideshow of previously annotated slides from a few of years ago and him just repeating "any questions?" without really explaining anything. His pre-week videos were helpful but they were only there for the first part of the course. I'd say watch his videos that are there. The examples in his slides are good for theoretical understanding and WebWorks are good practice for exams. Difficulty: 4.25/5
ELEC 281: It's a technical communication course, supposedly like WRDS 150B. Dropped it, taking it in the summer will update this here once I've taken it.
ELEC 291: Probably my favorite course from 2nd year. You actually get a sense of what it might be like being an engineer because this is a project course and you do hands on work. You get to work in teams which is sometimes good and sometimes bad. The only downside is it'll eat up A LOT, sometimes ALL of your time. First of all there are 6 labs that are due weekly which can take anywhere from 1-6 hours, depends on the amount of debugging you need to do. There's 2 projects which are much bigger than the labs. You have to spend a lot of time (can't put hours because I couldn't keep track even if I tried to) on the projects. There's no studying but a whole lot of doing. Professor Fraga is very helpful in the lab. Right course, wrong timing. Difficulty: 5/5 (60% because of the time it takes and 40% because of the actual work).

So as some of you know, Mega has NOT been cooking with the Halo line. On top of poor distribution and weird design choices with many of their sets, they also are barely making any sets in general compared to previous years. Because of all of this, I decided to cook up my own year long line up for the Halo line in the form of a bunch of set concepts to do my best to do this line some justice. Especially since its been so long since I done a post like this.
It will be split into 3 Waves as I think that would be the best way to release sets and I will go through them from least to most expensive in each wave. Btw Mega, I know yall browse the Reddit community sometimes. So if yall see this post, just relax and take notes.

Wave 1 (January release)

Halo Heroes

Skirmish on Reach $29.99 The builds are a HR Mongoose and a Covenant Ghost similar to the Ghost of Requiem one except with a different flight stand, a different control deck, a better color scheme, and a new more accurate hood. They come with 2 HR Army Troopers, 1 with a black HI Assault Rifle, and 1 with a Rocket Launcher, a HR Spartan with a black DMR, 2 Grunt Minors, 1 with a Plasma Pistol and 1 with a Needler, a Grunt Major with a Plasma Pistol, an Elite Minor with a Plasma Rifle, and a dark magenta Elite Officer with a new Plasma Repeater. You also get a couple Grenades for both UNSC and the Covenant.

ODST's Last Stand $39.99 The build is terrain with a destroyed tan Warthog that has a still functioning turret and it includes an ODST with a new Battle Rifle, 2 blue PROPERLY PAINTED Hunters, that have been retooled to allow for more posability, especially at the head, a Brute Captain with a Spiker, and a Grunt with a Plasma Pistol. There is enough pieces as well as some alternate pieces without battle damaged to allow you to be able to make a regular functioning version of this Warthog if you have a full one.

Halo 3 Co-op multipack $24.99 The set includes a H3 Master Chief using the HH14 Chief green color and has a Assault Rifle, Thel Vadam with 2 Plasma Rifles, and N'tho 'Sraom and Usze 'Taham with Carbines. All have painted weapons and are done up in HH quality. The set is in the same style as the Osiris and Blue team sets from years back and like wise, has a buildable modular base with stands for the 4 characters as well as includes some extra weapons for all of them.

2024.05.13 21:57 Helaton-Prime Game Feedback

Take this feedback with a grain of salt, I'm in the level 70's and usually play on 5-7 (with occasional forays into 8/9 when the team is willing). I consider 7 to be casual difficult (sometimes things go to hell, but usually have smooth runs, while Impossible/Helldive is usually full chaotic).
The game is amazing and based on past history, I think Pilestedt will keep the ship righted regardless of the doom n gloom on Reddit.
This is focused on a few things for the TLDR'ers:

Sound Problems
Use Lore/Storytelling for Weapon Balancing
Lean into Themes for the Warbonds
Crew Served Weapons
Environmental (Firenados)
Booster Balancing

I love this game, reddit gives it such a negative light though recently.

Sound Problems
Please do something about silent bots and bugs that weigh 2 tons sneaking up on you silently. Stalkers and Hunters, I can understand. If you make a cloaking bot, I can understand that too. Hulks and Devastators should not be absolutely silent.

Weapon Balancing into the Storytelling
Please keep all this in the Story. Doesn't matter whether its Sony, new content or Balancing. Go all in on the storytelling. Eruptor, crossbow,
Example: Purifier isn't great. Create the story:

It was found that the supplier responsible for fabricating the PLAS-101 Purifier Hyperchordium Charging Module was infiltrated by Automaton sympathizers several months ago contaminating the supply line for replacement parts. As the weapon has been in use in larger quantities and questionable replacement parts are now more common, the Purifier is under performing in the eyes of the front line and brass. The only other supplier for these parts is located in the foundries on Menkent, currently occupied by the Automaton menace. Liberate the planet and restore the supply line.

If something is over performing like the Quasar, then integrate it into Lore in the same way.

The Overabundium veins and stockpiles built into the LAS-99 Quasar's crystal focusing matrix have run out. Fortunately, R&D has managed to create an artificial crystal but its ability to focus and disperse heat between shots is greatly degraded.

Then you could have planets where Overabundium deposits are found (Ore Survey missions for example) and any missions on that planet will have faster cooldown times.

An Overabundium vein has been located on Fenrir II. While not enough to replace the current sythetic crystal matrix in the LAS-99 Quasar, it has been decided that Fenrir II will receive priority utilization of this natural resource for its campaign.

Lean into Themes for the Warbonds
Keep going with the themed warbonds like Cutting Edge. Polar Patriots missed it for a few reasons.

The incendiary impact grenade could have used the ice floweplant effect to freeze enemies for x time in a narrow sphere making it a viable alternative to the stun grenade.
Purifier charging could slow enemies down (with longer slowdown on higher charge). Then it wouldn't need all these damage discussion as it would be a support weapon (a more invested version of the Pummeler PDW).
Tenderizer could have several burst modes 2, 4, 6 rounds with minimal recoil on the burst. (Change magazine size to 36). This would give it a better purpose than standard Liberator for ammo conservation/dps selection. Bugs, I might want the 2 round burst. Bots I might want the 4 or 6 round burst.

The formula is already good for warbonds:

3 Armors with new passive
3 Cosmetic Helmets
3 Super Credits
3 Capes
3 Banner Cards
3 Victory Poses/Emotes
3 Primaries
1 New Booster
1 Secondary
1 Grenade

Each year have the October warbond be special for Liberty day (5 pages instead of 3).
Crew Served Weapons
Please allow anyone to service as weapon crew from that weapon person's backpack. (They can pull from their own pack first if they have the same weapon pack.)

Environmental (Firenados)
Please tweak the frequency of Firenados or lower the duration they swarm on the map. Getting 4-5 storms a mission and it takes 2+ minutes for them (and their lingering flames) to finally dissipate means that a good portion of the mission is spent avoiding these terrors. If they came down, moved around for 30s and went away with the current frequency, it wouldn't be as bad.

Booster Balancing
Most of the boosters are ok but there's two (good and bad) that could use a little tweaking/reworking.
Hellpod Space Optimization
This has become an essential item that nearly every squad has to take. Change it to a resupply buff that gives an extra 2 resupply (6) from a resupply stratagem instead of 4. (Take out the pedestal and some spaces between the resupply boxes and looks like you could fit an extra 1 on each side.)
Put the original benefit in the armor:

Med-Kit armor (+2 starting/max stims).
Engineering armor (+2 starting/max grenades), you start with 4 stims/grenades instead of 2.
Rifleman (new) armor that gives +2 starting/max primary/secondary magazines (or 20% more ammo for single reload weapons like SenatoPunisher).

Super Destroyer Bridge Upgrade > Hellpod Supply Optimization
For the original 'max ammo/nades/stims' of the Hellpod Space Optimization, make that the next upgrade in Bridge Super Destroyer show a welding guy soldering a supply box to the hellpod. You can pick up the resupply manually when you land. (aka All your reinforces come with a supply box.)

Flexible Reinforcement Budget
Allow this to regenerate Reinforcements overtime during the entire mission. 1 reinforcement every 8 minutes (you can regenerate even if you're not at 0 reinforcements) and keep the -10% reinforcement time if you reach 0. This keeps it useful throughout the mission rather than when everything is already almost lost.

I've been accepted to Temple University and plan on playing lacrosse while pursuing an engineering degree. Wanted to get your thoughts on my chances of being accepted to another college's engineering program. My biggest problem is my SAT score (only around 1200). My ACT is not much better. I must have some mental block with these tests.
I currently have:

4.8 GPA
Taking 5 AP classes with all As (Physics, Calc, History, etc)
I played 3 varsity sports throughout high school
Involved in many clubs and honor societies
1st chair Cello in orchestra
Only got around 1200 on SAT (this is what I'm really worried about). I think Temple is test optional so I might not list this. I would probably need other colleges to be test optional too.

2024.05.13 21:47 gothmog1313 Initial Impressions

I've had my Sela Green trial master for ~6 weeks now. I've done some light offroading, made a few mods, and I have ~800 miles on it. I'll be doing a break-in oil change soon. Overall I'm really impressed with the mechanical quality of the car. drivetrain, suspension, etc is great. I did upgrade to 285/70r17 tires and I'm running them at 38psi. This helps.
The only mechanical issue I've encountered is that it needs more caster. I maxed out the caster adjustment and that works pretty well. A set of longer lower links from a 3rd party will doubtless be released in the next year. it is mandatory to make that adjustment, and IMO, if you are here as an owner and haven't done it, you owe it to yourself to try it. it is transformative for highway driving. (I did it after 60 miles on the Odometer).
Software
The software is a whole different story. its shit. There is no way around it that their software engineers have missed the mark. To me, it is shocking that as good as the rest of the car is, the software can be so poor. Here's the breakdown.

the unit itself seems slow, though, I suspect the processor is actually fine given that touch inputs are good. but, the underlying OS is broken in some critical way.
for some reason, Ineos has chosen to keep the head unit in "sensor confirmation" only mode. I have no schematics or access to the code, but, it seems that the system does not register anything as having happened until an external sensor validates that it has happened. the classic example is that the lockers are active until the wheel sensors confirm the wheels are unlocked. BUT, I think the air conditioning does this too - it feels like the reason climate control is all over the place is that it acts as if it is relying on cabin temp sensors to confirm the commanded actions, rather than just commanding them directly. I suspect some kind of CANBUS hell going on here, but obviously I can't confirm.
the main loops of the software seem to have a lot of sloppy interrupts - if your wipers are on and the engine shuts down for there auto start stop, when the engine turns on again, the wipers pause. Why? because the ignition event reboots the electrical system for a wiper control module? or...because an interrupt pauses signal? who knows.
when you start the car, you can basically see the sensors report in and the computer processes those inputs real time. State isn't saved and updated, it all comes online from scratch every time. if it were me, I'd expect things like headlight/daylight mode to be stored, as well as ADAS prefs, off-road mode, etc. BUT, they're not. Fuel level doesn't appear to be stored, either. Except some of this stuff seems to be stored for some amount of time sometimes. ADAS settings will persist randomly as will some others. It's a mess.
It doesn't appear to have a "real time" kernel or any other kind of real time I/O system. I don't think the head unit actually interfaces with the critical stuff (thank god), so, I think they made some of the choices above for some other reasons, but, it has the effect of making the UI very aggravating.
some settings appear to be "hidden, but load on startup" - e.g. fuel economy units. The default is l/km, which shows even in the US when the vehicle is off - open your door and you'll see. Once you start the car, it quickly changes.

If I had to guess at the underlying issues, it appears that they don't reliably store/write/read state for preferences - the fact that there is objectively supposed to be four basic classes of settings:

Permanent - e.g. internal controls with a system variable set
user-settable permanent - e.g. warning sound volume, region, units, etc.
user settable, ephemeral - e.g. ADAS disable
controlled by sensors/physical interface buttons. This is the daylight sensor setting display brightness, the speed sensor for radio volume, and the inputs from wheel speed for lockers, and the climate control knobs.

It appears as if at boot, there is some kind of file that initializes all these settings (e.g. l/km to mpg, headlights on, etc) and sometimes ephemeral settings are not cleared. power cycling the car doesn't reliably do anything. The head unit reset (hold mute button) does seem to reset some stuff but....I think something more fundamental is wrong.

That said, the majority of this could be fixed with software updates, and if we as a community could confirm it - e.g. mess with sensor inputs and see what the response is, maybe we could learn something about the software.
I'm hoping that sooner or later someone manages to dump the entire software stack, too. given the digital approach to using the programming, ideally we'd be able to find out what's in that initial settings file and maybe play with the ADAS defaults...or, if we could locate the sound effect file for the clicker noises maybe someone could replace them with blank audio files.

All that said, I love the car and I'm keeping it. BUT, I'm not the kind of person to leave well enough alone. Anyone else have any deductions?

2024.05.13 21:43 Expert-Cupcake-8473 Problems porting construction.mdl to Garry's Mod.

Hi!
So i'm trying to convert the unused construction.mdl from Half-Life to the Source engine. I'm using Crowbar 0.74.
I did search for solutions, but the ones i did find said to re-export the SMD with blender. (bogus bone index)
This is where another problem appeared: trying to import construction_reference.smd to blender with the plugin outputs an error saying "expected 3 values, got 2".
I tried opening the SMD in notepad and looking up the "bogus bone index", of which i found multiple entries.
This is my first attempt at compiling a model, so i probably screwed up at one point or another.

2024.05.13 21:41 Assassin_Bunny Auto entry to engineering major with honor code violation.

I have just finished my second semester as a general engineer. I should be eligible for auto entry to my first choice major but as I was double checking the website I noticed it says no record of honor code violation. During my first semester, I self-reported an honor code violation due to my professor threatening our class with "evidence" of many people cheating. I received a small deduction in my grade and had to complete the AIDP modules. Will this affect my eligibility?

4.8L V8, 139k on engine and transmission, 249k on body, 342 gears in the rear so 22-24mpg as the owner of 10 years says
I am 16 and am wanting to buy a truck and this trucks mpg kinda latches me to wanting to buy it aside from liking the condition and looks. I am headed to college in September so 1 hour highway driving round trip I know a small car would be gas efficient but this trucks mpg sounds good giving me an alternative. I have 20k saved up and would eventually also like to put off-roading tires and a lift on it.
What do you guys think about it and reliability, should I get it or stay away from it. Id also have to really convince my dad to let me buy it and help me check it out in person to make sure it’s good since he’d just like for me to drive a smaller car for gas efficiency. Also does anyone know how to tell if it’s 4x4 or just by asking the owner? If it’s not 4x4 I probably wouldn’t get it.

Btw, from now on, I have decided to take more of a defensive position in these posts. I could explain why I think DN characters are generally underestimated in terms of intellect (especially on this subreddit) by naming specific feats, however fortunately people have already compiled most if not all of their feats in documents. I’ll link them here. Instead, I’ll focus on making counterpoints against arguments that say Death Note characters are stupid.

I got these documents from the SCD (Smart Character Debating) community, which basically sets itself out to analyze the feats of characters’ intellects.
Anyways…

“Light is too popular”

This is an argument made by people who believe Light is getting people to like him too easily. I do understand why someone would think that, Light doesn’t seem particularly likable. But that’s mainly because we know who Light really is. We get to see his evil, egomaniac self, but to everyone else, he seems like a really competent student. From my own experiences in school I can confirm that competent students were definitely more liked. Furthermore, we do see Light when he lost his memories of being Kira, and he does seem quite a bit nicer as well.
Additionally, Light makes use of his looks to be more likeable. This isn’t anything unrealistic either, it’s simply the halo effect doing its thing.

Light's slip up in ep. 10

This is one of the better ones. [Afaik, this theory originated from this video](). Interestingly enough, this would also give L more feats, but I digress.
Anyways, the issue here is that it was taken out of context. L already told Light that he suspected him, so it’s not an unreasonable statement to make.

Light’s desk drawer trap would not have worked

This is in reference to this trap Light build
The criticism here stems from the fact that gasoline, in real life, would just dissolve the plastic. However what people fail to consider here is that
A. This is a fictional universe, so certain chemistry might function differently there
B. Not all types of plastic are dissolved by gasoline

Mikami’s mistake

Probably one of the most infamous and definitely the most fatal blunder in the series. This one is actually valid, Mikami made an idiotic mistake which lead to his and Kira’s downfall. At least that’s the official story anyways.
But there is a theory, that if true, would actually change that. Now, I am not saying that it’s true, but it’s certainly something to consider. This isn’t a fan theory either, it was made by Matsuda in the manga. In it, Matsuda theorizes that Near used the DN to write Mikami’s name in it, ensuring that he wouldn’t check whether or not the notebook is real or not. As evidence for he it, he states that Mikami died 10 days later after the event, after “going insane”. Furthermore, Near burning the DN would be him simply erasing the evidence. It’s also worth mentioning how Obata, the artist behind the manga, stated how he believed Near to be the smartest character, because “he cheats”.
Anyways, that’s enough for this post, but I still have a lot planned. I think for the next time I’ll clear up some stuff around the memory loss plan.
