So I’m trying to find a plastic surgeon that I’m comfortable dropping a couple hundred dollars for a consultation with. There’s a newer surgeon with very good reviews available that has a cheaper consultation than most, but since he only graduated from his fellowship last year he doesn’t have his FPS board certification, but does have his ABOHNS board certification. As far as I know, a surgeon has to practice for 2 years or something to qualify for FPS board certification.
He had a 5 year long residency for head and neck surgery and a year long fellowship with a couple well-respected facial plastic surgeons. Is it a bad idea to go with this guy? Should I only trust someone who has the FPS certification and way more experience? The only reason I’m considering is his consultation fee is cheaper and he has several great reviews.

I have booked in a consultation with a plastic surgeon in the UK. I payed for the consultation. However I wanted to get the surgery NHS funded because I do have breathing difficulties. However I was asked to fill in a form and I would need to pick self funded because I have yet to see my GP as I am changing GPs and the change takes a month. When I see the GP can I request for a particular surgeon and can I pick self funded for now but discuss NHS funding with the surgeon or would I need to see my GP instead?

I’ll start my story with context!
My chest seemed to explode in size when I was around 13 (I’m about 18 now), last I measured was around two years ago! Maybe three? I haven’t looked my surgeon up because I’m a truly anxious person but I feel like it’s fine? Idk. They put me on cancellation (if someone cancels their br, I’ll be called to take their spot)and like two weeks after we got a call. I take anxiety meds every day and a travel med but they told me the night before surgery, I have to start fasting at midnight. They mentioned I could take my usual meds and my travel meds (only for super long road trips which this is, because I get so unbelievably car sick) with the least amount of water I can. Im a person who gets physically sick if they get too nervous and that’s been the case so far. We are to arrive in the city the same day as my surgery so I hope I’m not too nervous lol. I also got two facial lip piercings about 8 weeks before this so they’ll be removing them for my surgery and I’m hoping they don’t close. A piercing place close to our hotel said they’d put my piercings back in if they could, but I’m still worried they’ll be closed.
