2024.05.14 07:45 eatratshitt I’m struggling to figure out where I fit in on the levels scale
disclaimer before I get to the actual post: I’m not self diagnosed (fully support self diagnosis tho) but my country doesn’t use the level system I’m 20F diagnosed at the age of 17. I know I’m pretty good at masking, people who don’t really know how autism usually presents in afab people can tell that there’s something a little off about me and treat me differently but I don’t think it’s enough to the level 2 point? I was completely unable to say even a word to strangers when I was a kid but ig it was just brushed off as being shy. At school I never really talked to anyone and really struggled to understand how the hell do I make friends. It just felt like everyone was in on some big secret to how to socialize and I had no idea what it was. I only started making some friends at the age of 14 when I found other neurodivergent and mentally ill people but even then I always felt like an outsider. I also don’t know if my support needs are level 1 or 2. As a kid and young teen I wasn’t able to keep up with school or daily tasks like cleaning, showering on brushing my teeth. I don’t know why, I just couldnt ever get myself to do it and I didn’t really have a parent to help me with that stuff. I’d spend the whole time playing video games that brought me comfort. Mind you I did live in a pretty abusive household so that also for sure impacted my ability to function. As soon as I turned 18 I dropped out of school and got a job. The dropped out part was a good decision but the job destroyed me mentally. After just the first week I was so overwhelmed and dysregulated I attempted and ended up in a hospital. I went back to work after 2 weeks tho and managed to keep working by abusing alcohol until 3 months later I was so exhausted I ODed again (not as badly tho) to have an excuse not to go to work. I quit the job right after that and was unable to function for the next 3 months after which I gave in to my parents, societal and financial pressure and got another job that I lasted 9 months in. It was a little easier as I made sure I worked only 2-3 shifts a week but eventually once again I slipped into alcohol and my brain and body just stopped functioning properly. My tourette’s also got worse to a point of it making it even harder for me to work as my wrists would lock in one position. It’s been 8 months since then and I’ve slowly realized that I am disabled and I will never be able to live alone. I wouldn’t be able to get groceries, clean, throw the trash out regularly, work enough to afford to live and just do any other adult thing. But then again I know level 2 requires more communication issues? I’m just very confused and bothered by the inability to fit myself into one or another label

My college just announced a reorganization plan that involves adding student life under my director. This means the two of us will be tasked with overseeing student government and planning/executing all of the student engagement events. Most schools have a student engagement director or several people dedicated to only student life. We don’t have anyone assigned to student life currently, and it’s been a clear gap in our workforce as everyone is spread thin trying to tag team the student engagement work.
As I do all of the admin work for our department already, this reorg will cause a huge addition to my daily tasks. In the first year of this reorg, no one will be hired into my area to help out. Further, no mention of additional compensation has been mentioned. For more context, my job requires two years of experience and a bachelors degree. I have 6 years of experience and a Ph.D. I love my job, and it pays well, but I want to use the reorg as an opportunity to negotiate a raise.
My school pays employees on a step scale starting at A. You move up one step each year or 5% ish pay raise annually. I’m on step C. I’m nervous to ask for step E. What do you think is a reasonable ask?

Me and my fiance have lived at this residence for 9 months our lease is up in September and the landlord is a private landlord who lives in the home he's 20y/o and he told us on Saturday night he is calling his realtor tomorrow (sunday) and the house will be posted august 1st so it would be best if we can all be out by July so he could undergo fixing up the house to sell we pay 1200 a month for a room and attached bathroom. He said he's done with the drama because he recently moved in a child sex offender who hasn't been paying his rent and has been taking/using all of our food, laundry detergent, qtips? (And leaving the dirty qtips on the counter in the shared bathroom) Basically anything he can get his hands on. We live right down the street from an elementary school so legally he can't even live here. All the roommates hate him he is a mooch already owes me $200 for the groceries I bought and the piercings he guilted me into paying for with the promise to pay me back. He surprisingly does have a gf but she lives in another state and he legit cheated on her a week before she flew across the country to see him and she also was the one who payed a month of his rent btw she still doesn't know he fucked someone else btw. BUT ANYWAYS he (landlord) said he doesn't like how we all are hating on each other and blaming each other for things (the new roommate also has a tendency to leave crusty dishes in the sink and lock the one lock no one has a key to) and when we all point out none of these things were happening before this guy moved in he jumps to defend this guy. I have no clue why but at this point we are just looking for different housing there was an apartment perfectly in our budget that I wanted to tour tomorrow and I requested a specific unit literally earlier today my email got ignored and now it's taken off the website so I'm anxious to be able to afford other complexes we don't have a huge savings because we were planning on being here for a while longer and all of our money has gone into the wedding as of late so I dunno what's some good tips when it comes to apartments and no I'm not seeing landlord for breaking lease because at this point I would rather disconnect from this place entirely.

My water heater went out 😢. I need a place where I can shower on a semi daily basis because my supervisor is getting complaints about my hygiene. I have hears her out. My family looks down on me and will question me if I use theirs. I need a place to take a shower at least on a semi daily basis. I can always sponge bath at home, but my hair needs a real shower that has hot water.

I'll do my best to keep this short and punchy but I want to give my full backstory for clarity.
~5 years ago I lost 124 lbs (before and afters in my post history). I did it with diet alone. I used a cocktail of high protein (1g/lb of ideal bodyweight) low carb, daily time restricted eating, prolonged fasts, and keto cycling. I've since maintained my loss and now weigh 123-125. I continue to eat very low carb but have added back some vegetables, fruits, and nuts. But 95% of my diet is animal protein and I like to keto cycle about half the month.
3 years ago I was diagnosed with rosacea. About a year ago I developed arthritis. I've just begun to experiment with my macros and keeping a detailed spreadsheet. The reason being is that I keep noticing that when I'm very low carb or have slipped into ketosis that my rosacea flares are much worse and my hands are much more swollen. At first I thought it had to be a coincidence and that it was due to a specific food(s), but no.
For the last 2 weeks I've eaten a higher fat, higher carb, lower protein diet and am obviously out of ketosis. My first meal would be something like cheese, salami, nuts, clean crackers (I make them myself), and fruit. Next would be a protein with a high fat pan sauce and some potato. Last meal would be a salad with some vegetables, crumbled cheese, and a bit of leftover cold protein. Total protein around 80g, carbs around 70-80g, fat around 100g+. The result is that both my hands and face have been doing great. Very little swelling in my hands when I wake up (when it's usually the worst) and even in the hot weather my face hasn't flushed constantly and has been really comfortable.
Yesterday I went back to my normal macros/meals. I had salmon for breakfast, a flank steak and raspberries for lunch, and a ribeye and broccolini for dinner. Total protein 138g, carbs 22g, fat 65g. I woke up with terribly swollen hands and despite being in a nice cool room all day my face is flushed and painful.
These meals are just examples. I cannot seem to isolate a particular food that is bothering me. Ironically, back when I was morbidly obese I never seemed to have food intolerances.
I just don't understand any of this. For 6 years the LCHP/keto way of eating has been my lifeline. It saved me. I cannot get my head around how it could possibly be making my conditions worse.
Does anyone have any insight into how being in ketosis/LCHP could worsen my diseases?

I am a 50 percent owner in a deli . I was mostly a passive partner . The active manager took out a loan for “ buisness “ but transferred the money in a different account . The money was mostly not used for buisness at all . Our operating agreement explicitly disallow any financial transaction over 50k without both partners agreeing to the transaction . He took out over 150k . When I found out I took over the restaurant and cut off his access to bank and any administrative control . Going out he had not paid parole taxes, state taxes and on and on . I reached out to the bank to challenge the loan . The bank is refusing any responsibility. I have an attorney who thinks that we don’t have much of a case against the bank ? It’s a non collateral loan and I can simply shut down the deli and get rid of the loan however summer is here and any chance of making any money back is in the next few months . What are my options ? Law suit and even arbitration will cost more money . The bank has offered a 20 percent discount on loan but that still doesn’t make it where I will make any money this summer ( they take 13 percent of daily sales till the loan is satisfied). I thought about filing complaint with OCC and FDIC and let them take care of the bank and just suck it up . The business partner has all his assets secured in a trust and I am on hook for 100 percent liability currently . Can a bank be held liable for over looking the operating agreement ? I thought it’s a pretty straight forward yes . Am I bending screwed by my own lawyer ?

I would always be afraid to quit my job for another one, even though there I was disrespected daily and stressed out. I’d think I wouldn’t find another one. For a while I had really bad red acne and i used concealer that had different shade compared my skin. And I kept buying it, same shade. Thinking the other one would be worse. Now I cringe at the fact I even used concealer since I am a man, I literally get flashbacks from that - I was oblivious to the fact others could see it on my face, thinking it’s ‘invisible’. I went to college for something I didn’t like, and didn’t change major. I’d keep ordering food at restaurants I didn’t really like or where staff was rude to me. And many other instances like those. Anyone else?

I’ve been EP since my LO was about 3 weeks due to latching issues and for the sake of my mental health (she’s 4 months now). I’ve enjoyed EP for the most part but now that my LO’s intake is going up, I’m having a hard time pumping enough for the day and it’s stressing me out. I’m aiming for 32 oz a day but currently at 22-24 oz and I’ve been using my freezer stash but only have a few bags left. I try to pump 5-6 times daily but lately I’ve only been able to do 4 while juggling baby and work and so my supply hasn’t increased. I was thinking of BF baby at least once or twice a day in hopes of increasing my supply and making sure she’s fed if I didn’t make enough for a bottle or two for the day. Has anyone ever done this?
My thought process is that having her BF will definitely force my supply to go up since I plan on continuing to pump, and the times she breast feeds will just be a solid pumping session that I can’t skip on. Hello there diagnosed about 3 weeks ago and my fasted glucose was 315 (could have been higher I actually walked for about 2 hours prior to the appointment). Immediately put on 1000mg of metformin daily for 2 weeks which has been bumped to 2000mg a week ago. Haven't really seen any sort of quantitative difference in readings with the increased dosage to 2000mg daily.
My 2 hour post meal readings are almost always lower than my fasted readings I legitimately have no idea whats going on. Been exercising everyday and basically going super low carb just proteins and green veggies all very low glycemic index. I have noticed if I have a very bad nights sleep my morning reading goes through the roof comparitively to the range I'm used to seeing now.
For reference I'm 38 6'8'' and currently 240lbs. Lost about 25 lbs from my initial visit and either jog/walk/lift daily. Just really worried where things go from here if the max dosage of metformin is not enough.

35m been doing restoration for a few year but not consistent. Been quite consistent from end of last year. Currently at CI4. I been CI4 or 4.5 for sometime now. Normally using my DIY tugger, t-tape sometime but slipping issue, i dont prefer t-tape although it is comfortable. I think daily tugging hour around 8-10hr probably. Retaining over night using tape. However lately i wasnt feel motivated as there is slow and not much progress. Wasnt seeing obvious improvement nor progress. Feeling less motivated although i still do wear tugger everyday most of the time other than exercise. How you guys stay motivated from CI4 to 5 or 6. And is the progress slow after CI4?

Yesterday I went back to my normal macros/meals. I had salmon for breakfast, a flank steak and raspberries for lunch, and a ribeye and broccolini for dinner. Total protein 138g, carbs 22g, fat 65g. I woke up with terribly swollen hands and despite being in a nice cool room all day my face is flushed and painful.
These meals are just examples. I cannot seem to isolate a particular food that is bothering me and back when I was morbidly obese I never seemed to have food intolerances.
I just don't understand any of this. For 6 years the LCHP/keto way of eating has been my lifeline. It saved me. I cannot get my head around how it could possibly be making my conditions worse, and for that matter how I ended up with two auto-immune conditions at all when I thought I was finally in peak health.
Does anyone have any insight into how being in ketosis/LCHP could worsen my diseases?

~5 years ago I lost 124 lbs (before and afters in my post history). I did it with diet alone. I used a cocktail of high protein (1g/lb of ideal bodyweight) low carb, daily time restricted eating, prolonged fasts, and keto cycling. I've since maintained my loss and now weigh 123-125. I continue to eat very low carb but have added back some vegetables, fruits, and nuts. But 95% of my diet is animal protein and I like to keto cycle about half the month.
3 years ago I was diagnosed with rosacea. About a year ago I developed arthritis. I've just begun to experiment with my macros and keeping a detailed spreadsheet. The reason being is that I keep noticing that when I'm very low carb or have slipped into ketosis that my rosacea flares are much worse and my hands are much more swollen. At first I thought it had to be a coincidence and that it was due to a specific food(s), but no.
For the last 2 weeks I've eaten a higher fat, higher carb, lower protein diet and am obviously out of ketosis. My first meal would be something like cheese, salami, nuts, clean crackers (I make them myself), and fruit. Next would be a protein with a high fat pan sauce and some potato. Last meal would be a salad with some vegetables, crumbled cheese, and a bit of leftover cold protein. Total protein around 80g, carbs around 70-80g, fat around 100g+. The result is that both my hands and face have been doing great. Very little swelling in my hands when I wake up (when it's usually the worst) and even in the hot weather my face hasn't flushed constantly and has been really comfortable.

Some key points before you read; I moved to Orlando, FL from Washington state in February of 2023. It was closer to family and I had a lot of friends here. I truly love it here. I’m convinced there is something mentally not-okay with my mother and we’ve had a hot/cold relationship for years. My dad divorced her and got re-married to her and these days just puts up with it. We used to have a significantly better relationship but this has frankly tarnished all of that and he just puts up with it. My parents are real-estate investors in the Orlando area and generally buy some of terrible homes in even worse areas and somehow find renters. They act like they’re mansions but they truly are terrible. I’m 28 years old.
When I initially moved here, I got my own apartment in a great suburb of Orlando. My parents helped me move and were really excited for me to get back on this coast. At some point during my residency, my parents brought up a notion to attempt to “help” me by buying me a house. My credit is shot and there is no way I qualify for a conventional mortgage. Maybe before the big short but certainly not in today’s housing climate. I didn’t actively reach out to them for this sort of assistance but I toyed with the idea.
Given the fact that they are real-estate investors, their interest rate was going to be somewhere in the realm of 7%. That left me with a max value of about a $400,000 house in order to be comfortable with the payment. Daily my mom would send me listings to some of the shittiest homes I’ve ever seen and get upset when I say I don’t like it. That would generally be when I would cut off the conversation after I’m told I’m “ungrateful”. Mind you they haven’t even done anything yet.
Months pass and I find a decent townhome in a location that I’ve always wanted to live in. It’s a townhome that has 2beds, 2baths and was about $380K. In an effort to make my parents happy and not be so “ungrateful” I agreed that they can put an offer on it. Mind you this house is one that I would likely never buy with my own money, but given the interest rate I sort of had to stick with it.
The agreement was that they would put down $100K for the house, I pay the full escrow (mortgage payment, PMI, taxes and HOA dues) and, when it comes time to sell, I would get every dollar above the selling price. It was an enticing deal to get some equity that I otherwise wouldn’t get living in an apartment complex. This was all something that was verbally discussed and I can’t find any physical copy of this being said either over text or another medium. I very well could not see a dime out of this and have no recourse in the eyes of the law as far as I know.
I broke my least and move in came in October of 2023 which also happened to be when I met my beautiful and loving girlfriend who I am extremely happy with. My parents came over in December for Christmas and I actually had my girlfriend stay in my house while my parents were in town so we can all do stuff together. I thought it went well. My parents met her family, my friends and we generally had a great time.
That apparently wasn’t their idea of the week and they are super upset that my girlfriend basically lives here. Text exchanges with my mother generally result in me being called a disgrace, ungrateful, disrespectful, etc.
At the end of the day this is all stemming from the fact that I got a girlfriend, they apparently don’t like her, are losing control of me and now we’re both suffering navigating business and family. It’s taking a huge toll on me to the point where I woke up today and cried after receiving another demeaning text from my mother. That same person they hate was there to comfort me.
How should I navigate this? Every time I try to talk about it it just turns into an attack where she says some terrible things about me and my partner. Is it healthier for me to just cut ties? I’m at a loss. Being worried about my living situation everyday is really taking a toll at this point and I don’t have it in me to start another argument. Almost daily now I get random texts at random hours of the day with her picking a fight. There is no clear path to a cordial conversation.
