Ok started with sore throat Thursday then headache body ache 101.4-102.4 fever Saturday night. SUnday began diarrhea and same range of fever all day.
Monday same symptoms but range of fever was 101.4-102.8. Cramps in upper stomach and vomiting began. Fever came down to 99.9 at midnight on Tuesday but then at 6 am temperature dropped to 95.5 and vomiting and diarrhea became more frequent. 20 minutes later at hospital temp increased rapidly to 103.3 and heart rate to 130. Diarrhea became bright green and VERY frequent. Fluids administered, doctors determined it's not sepsis, Covid, flu, or strep. So far have no concrete answers. She is 5 weeks postpartum and breastfeeding.

5 days ago I had fever and couldnt get out of bed. I took medication and 3 days later I was physically fine. But, I still suffer from headaches (especially when I bend) dry nose, painful throat and coughing). 4 days ago I trimmed my nose hair (hair free now) Could this lead to a meningitis? Im physically fine, but still coughing, throat pain, dry nose.

Started coughing last Sunday night but did not think too much of it as I was still recovering from a cold. On monday morning, my son started to get a high fever (40°C, don‘t know how much that is in °F) so we took him to the hospital where he tested positive for Influenza A. When we got home, my wife and I were also knocked out by high fever (39°C+). We are on day 3 and the fever seems to be gone for now. Of course there are still symptoms like coughing and sore throat but overall we are much better. Could this actually be? I always thought that influenza will knock you out for at least a week.

It started with my 4.5 year old daughter the week before mother’s day. Stomach cramps, vomiting, followed by a few days of diarrhea. She gets better the friday before mother’s day and my 1 year old son projectile vomits over me twice and my husband twice that same day . His has been a real kicker. he was lethargic all weekend and saturday night got a fever. Took him to urgent care on mother’s day and they said he has an ear infection. Because he just had amoxicillin for a different infection a few weeks back they prescribed cfedinir. This medication has its own issues - runny stools. He has been fussy and now has a runny nose andd cough and popping a tooth! I get the illness monday. Felt like I was on my death bed with vomiting and diarrhea. my in laws came to help. Next day i was better but trying to recover so my mom helped out. now my mom and mil are throwing up and my son is STILL fussy and his daycare provider required 100% symptom free. what is this virus from hell??? How long till the next one?? I’m worried about my son, the illnesses he gets from his sister kick his ass. I don’t think he’s been to a full week of daycare since february.

I know one-year-olds aren’t supposed to nap more than 2 hours in one sitting and should generally have wake windows anywhere from 3-4 hours long. Lately mine’s been having long naps with unusually short wake windows. He barely made it under 2.5 hours for the first wake window and then slept for two hours. Luckily he woke up so I didn’t have to wake him. Then he couldn’t even make it being awake for two hours before rubbing his eyes and getting really cranky and needing to nap again. He’s already been down for almost a half hour.
I couldn’t find anything about a 1 year old needing to sleep THIS much. He recently had a fever and the clinginess/crankiness/sleepiness made sense then, but that fever has passed since Monday afternoon and the only sickness symptom he really has is the occasional cough during naps and bedtime and decreased solids intake, but he is having normal pee and poo diapers. He may be teething, which I’ve heard is a mixed bag when it comes to affecting sleep. He apparently didn’t have any sleep issues yesterday except he skipped his second nap (which happens occasionally and is considered normal for his age so I’m usually not concerned when it happens) and was able to still go to bed close to his normal bedtime and get over 11 hours of nighttime sleep.
Is it possible he’s still just sleeping off a cold and will be back to normal in a day or so, or is this sleepiness indicative of something more serious? I don’t want to be messing up his nighttime sleep by letting him sleep so much during the day but I also don’t want to force him to stay awake for a 3-hour wake window if he’s rubbing his eyes and cranky.

[30F, 56 kg, 173cm]. Taking Ritalin (prescribed); took some designer benzos a couple of times during the last month to fall asleep (obviously, self-prescribed, half a pill before going to sleep. Yes, I know it's bad, not doing it anymore). Don't smoke, drink wine pretty regularly (never get drunk though), and a lot of caffeine. Have a full-time job at the computer and am a full-time student. Don't do sports, but walk around quite a lot. Have a stressful life in general, but at the moment it's more or less ok. No chronic issues that I know of.
Recently, had a pretty bad cold with a sore throat, cough, stuffed nose, and a fever. Usually, I never have colds or anything like that. It seems that I recovered from it, or almost recovered.
Now about the issue why I'm posting: a little more than a week ago I started waking up in the middle of the night from REALLY SEVERE headaches. They're always at the same spot - the top left part of my head, sometimes radiating to the left cheekbone, the left eyebrow, and the left temple. For the first time, it was so bad that I was afraid I was having a stroke or something, but no other symptoms of anything of that kind were present. I took a paracetamol+aspirin+caffeine pill and the pain subsided in an hour or so. The exact same episode repeated 4 more times since then, and last night, the painkiller didn't help. Even though I managed to fall asleep, I woke up with the same unbearable pain. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but after I took my regular dose of Ritalin, the pain disappeared almost instantly. Also, don't know if it's relevant, but I'm also on my period at the moment.
I'm going to go to the doctor soon-ish anyway, but right now, a comment from a professional on my situation could really help alleviate my worries (or prompt me to do something about the problem immediately, idk). Thank you in advance.

29F I see Hematology/Oncology this coming Monday 5/20 but am trying to ease my mind a bit until then. I originally got referred to hematology/oncology because I’ve been having blood clots including multiple SVTs, DVTs, and a PE. I failed Eliquis and now I’m on Warafrin and had a couple other blood thinners in between. I just saw Vascular and they said to keep going with the blood thinners.
I’m starting to put together my symptoms I’ve been having over the last 9 months and I’m starting to get worried. I’m having terrible night sweats where my clothes and sheets are soaked, a dry cough, fatigue even when I get a full 7-9 hours of sleep, back pain, slightly decreased appetite, arm and leg swelling (roughly where the clots were located), chest/collar bone pain/discomfort, pain/discomfort that starts in my left underarm and extends into my upper arm, that same area feels weird (like full) when I lay down on that side, quick light headed episodes, and recently started getting low grade fevers that last a day or so even though I’m not sick.
I went to the ER a couple weeks ago because my chest pain and coughing were getting worse and I was worried my PE was getting worse. They did a CT of my chest and thankfully the PE had resolved, but my lymph nodes under both my arms were “reactive”. I know this could be a weird combination of symptoms or something more serious. Has anyone experienced this before? Could this be anything else besides lymphoma or cancer? Any input would be appreciated!

Got COVID-19 in 2020, pre vaccine. Hospitalized. When I 'recovered' I had newly developed asthma and no white blood cells. They never returned to any normal level. I don't remember exactly numbers but the chart of blood draws over 1.5 years looked exactly like this: 📉
I get sick all the time post 2020 if anyone around me is sick; flu, covid, etc. I always catch it. Last month I was only healthy 1 week out of 4.
I've gotten covid 9 times.** I've been told by friends that thats unusual, maybe? Right now rashes cropping up all over my body. The cells on my tongue died one night few days ago and turned my whole tongue black. Im currently spitting up bits and pieces of the dead cells the inside of my mouth and cheeks that are shedding. I dont knowwhy. My lymph nodes are swollen and never stop being swollen.
I get woken up every single night with hot flashes of mild fever up to 101-2. then goes away. Affects my ability to sleep. I start seeing things in the corner of my eyes by day 3 of no sleep.
I'm extremely dehydrated and no amount of water will do it. I've had almost 2.5 liters, Feels like drinking sand, and my lips Crack and Bleed. I look so ugly. I look like a ghost. sunken eyes, gray skin, blistered mouth
Doctor won't run other tests or treatment other than more antibiotic
I don't know what I should do or look for. Or what I should ask my doctor to do next. Please let me know if there are any recommendations

Hello, I am 31M, I don't drink , I don't smoke, I don't use any recreational drugs.
You see my situation is the following:
About 10 days ago, suddenly and out of nowhere I got sick at night, having a sore throat, as the days went by my feelings began to get worse, suddenly I had a lot of discomfort when I swallowed food or drink things, then I had a very bad coughing, being all the time just coughing and coughing during the week, at times my eyes were itchy and I was worried if I got conjuctivitis too while I was sick with the flu or whatever happened to me, I felt dry in my throat and I was out of breath sometimes, my voice wasn't in its normal state, I was more hoarse/higher-pitched (I'm not sure which of the two is the correct term since English is my second language and I confuse those words even in my native language) the point is, my voice isn't in its normal state so I can barely speak normally and and I need to make a little effort to speak, I had a lot of mucus in my nose, and my throat and mouth felt just weird.
As the days went by, my symptoms improved, I didn't have itchy eyes ever again (it was something I experienced for about 3 days and only for a short period of time in those 3 days, like, it wasn't something I felt all day, it manifest on suddenly and lasted for about 2 hours at most), and I felt less bad because I remember that there was a day when I could barely even speak.
But after all that time, I'm still sick.
My biggest and main problem is that I still have a lot of cough and I spend the whole day coughing and they don't know when I want it to stop, and my voice is still not in its normal state so I can barely talk much, which is a nuisance because I usually talk all day on Skype calls for multiple reasons, among other things but at least the eye itchy is gone and I don't feel so exhausted.
Today I went to see a doctor to review my case, because a lot of time had passed and I still have this problem of coughing too much, and I wanted to help it.
And my doctor came to the conclusion that it doesn't seem like I have a cold, it's most likely that I'm having problems with an Allergy, and I was like "Uhm really??"
The bases that my Doctor had for that diagnosis were the following:

1. I've been in this state for 10 days now and it's weird that it lasted this long, if it were a Cold/Flu, I would have recovered and it should have ended at the 7 days of being sick, as I we well know.
2. I have a more dry cough, without phlegm/mucus.
3. It seems I haven't had a fever (but I'm not sure about that, I didn't worry about taking my temperature at some point during the week to see if I had a fever or anything really, before going to see the doctor)
4. I have not had chest pain.

In addition, the Doctor asked me to open my mouth to see how my throat was, and with the stethoscope he listened to my breathing and my body coughing.
But the Doctor's diagnosis that what I have seems to be a problem with an Allergy than something else, sounded very weird to me for several reasons:

1. It's illness season on my city and in my city practically everyone is Coughing a lot everywhere, Like wherenever I went (the medical center, the supermarket) there were A LOT of people everywhere coughing in the same manner as me.
2. In addition, my Mother was also sick at the same time that she presented the symptoms, but she recovered quickly, it lasted 3 days her symptoms at most, and she didn't have the Cough that I still had.
3. I've had problems with allergies before in my life, but I've never had an allergy that made me cough or anything, especially so persistently.
4. I have also never had an allergy that affected my voice or my ability to speak.

And the thing is that because everyone is sick everywhere in my city, I was waiting several hours for the Doctor to check me, but when the time of my consultation arrived I was tired and my brain wasn't in its best state, which leads me to worry that perhaps I didn't explain my situation well to the Doctor and I wasn't as attentive to his questions as I would have liked to realize that I was answering correctly, the Doctor was also tired because he had a long day reviewing many patients and I felt like he wasn't checking me in like great detail and I rushed the job a little because it was obvious that he just wanted to finish his job day.
So all these factors together lead me to worry if the Doctor did his job well and/or if I did my part well and a If actually correct Diagnosis was reached, because the idea that what I have is an Allergies thing given the reasons I explained sounded Odd to me.
Then the Doctor prescribed me that he had to take the following:

1. CAM ( 2,00 Mg Dexchlorpheniramine maleate , 0,25 Mg Betamethasone) every 8 hours <- Antihistamine , one tablet
2. Diclofenac sodium , every 8 hours , one tablet (50 Mg)
3. Bion3 (Something with Probiotics and Vitamins), one tablet the day.

Whenever I have to take Medications, I Google everything about them, and I understand what Antihistamines are and how they work, that they are these things that calm your Immune system, to put it in simple words.
And well, what my Doctor told me is that I am going to take these medications for a week, let's see what happens and next Tuesday he will check how I did with those meds.
So to be honest, I'm really quite Scared and worried that I maybe fucked up??
What if I have Bronchitis that for some reason is happening with a Dry Cough without mucus/phlegm nor chest pain, or I still have an Active Flu and this persistent cough that I want to end and my voice problems has nothing to do with an Allergy??
Since, if that is the case, shouldn't taking Antihistamines make my health much worse by calming my immune system when a real illness is still happening??
Like, that's what worries me, what if taking those medications and following the Doctor's instructions actually entails a risk to my health due to a wrong diagnosis??
Because what I want to read and have tried to investigate is that well.
Something, whatever, that tells me that if it turns out that the Doctor gave me the wrong diagnosis, and I have Bronchitis or the Flu that is still active or perhaps with few symptoms but still there, taking these meds (Antihistamine) for a week shouldn't it do much damange??
I know I sound a little paranoid, but I already had a crisis in the past with a Doctor (another one) giving me the wrong medications for an illness, which ended up making my health much worse and it was horrible and I seriously don't want to relive that experience again.

Anyone else ever had this ?

My daughter has a pretty bad virus right now. She’s very very stuffy and blowing her nose CONSTANTLY, fever for five days, a bit of a cough, and itchy throat and ears, as well as her eczema flaring up. She did say her ears hurt a bit one day but the next day they felt fine and we had a doctors appointment that day. Her doctor said it’s viral and to let it run its course but she gave us antibiotics because one of her ears was red and inflamed but doesn’t hurt at all anymore. She does still have a fever. I just thought it was weird to give antibiotics for her ear even though it doesn’t hurt her. Do kids have ear infections without any pain at all?

Sunday, on mothers day, I started to feel malaise. Throat hurt too, fever started around 8pm. Continued into Monday, I was convinced it was viral as my kids just had gotten over a throat infection (herpangina) and I thought it was probably that. On and off all day Monday I was fevering with a sore throat. I decided to get a good look at my throat and behind one of my tonsils I saw white patches, so Tuesday morning I went to med express. They swabbed me, positive for strep throat and prescribed augmentin. My kids were swabbed last week but negative for strep. My issue is, I’m worried I waited too long and it’s progressed into something uglier? My lungs apparently sounded fine yesterday and oxygen levels were good at the doctors but I am finding it hard to breathe in deep and it hurts. My chest and back mainly, I can’t tell if its muscular as I also have an intense and productive cough. It’s worse when I lay down. I’m getting sweaty easily too. No fever though. Does this sound like pneumonia?

Hi i am 3 days post OP and i am having high fever on Day 3, i had fever on Day 1 and Day 2 as well but i was hospitalised so the nurse checked on me regularly and my fever was down. Since day 3 from morning i am having high fever around 100-101 degrees. Is it Normal to have this much fever after your ACL surgery? Should i be concerned about this on and off fever. I took paracetamol and it lowers down a bit but still hovering around 100.5-101.

Hello I am a 19 year old female I am 5”5 about about 240 pounds
So I don't usually do this, and l've actually never asked a question on Reddit before but I am unsure where to go lol. I am a US citizen that is currently studying in Canada and am having a lot of trouble accessing health services here. I think I may have an anal fistula or like a perennial access that is extremely painful and has l believe burst (this is the second one I have had in the same spot) . I am also exhibiting symptoms of a potential infection maybe i am not sure It's painful and warm to the touch Pus is constantly draining from area and tenderness around the anus along with fatigue etc.. pus has also drained from the anus or around there I believe and I am having more bathroom visits than usual. I do not have a fever, but I have a throbbing pain down there and it hurts to walk/sit/cough etc…
I cannot get a doctors appointment until Tuesday and my doctor will then need to refer me somewhere else so it will take longer. I am in quite a bit of pain so I am wondering if I should wait until Tuesday or go to the ER if that is even worth it.

I’m on a 14 night trip from the UK, which I saved up for for years.
I got a niggly but not serious cough about a week in. I didn’t think anything of it as I thought it was just dryness from air con. But by night 10 I was coughing like crazy and then spiked a fever. I’ve been in bed feeling awful for two days since.
The only upside is that if I had to get sick, this is probably the best time. We had thankfully already ridden most of the rides we wanted to and were starting to take it a little easier, picking our favourites and going back to them. And hopefully the worst of my symptoms will have passed before my 10 hour flight home.
Though I did miss our Space 220 reservation last night and will miss our Oga’s tonight which is gutting.
It is just so frustrating because getting sick on vacation is one of my biggest fears, especially a vacation I planned and waited so long for. I wore a mask on the plane and in the airport, and have been sanitising/washing my hands diligently. Admittedly though, I haven’t been wearing masks in queues or on Disney transport.
I guess I just wanted to get this off my chest, and to warn people that if you’re on the fence with wearing a mask - just do it. It sucks being sick in the most magical place on earth.

I have a 9 wk old. Last week he developed a bit of a cough. Earlier this week I took him to the doctors. He’s never had a fever. Sleeping, eating and pooping like normal. She told me it was just a regular cold and his body had to go through the motions.
At the beginning I was giving him a low dose of Tylenol (he’s the right weight for it) however I felt like it did nothing for him so I stopped.
He is in great spirits but this damn cough won’t go away. He has some phlegm which he has no idea how to spit out so that has been causing discomfort. Yesterday it started to really affect his eating. He will eat fine but the minute he starts coughing and we remove the bottle, he refuses to take it back. I’m at my wits end trying to ensure he is getting enough food and not losing weight. I have tried all the at home remedies to help with the cough and nothing is working.
Any advice would be appreciated. I’m a first time mom and just worried that he won’t get better or that he will start to lose weight.
