2024.05.11 20:57 not_a_neet_Srysly Are you a extreme procrastinator that keeps 999999+ tabs open for no reason? Try this:
Whenever I'm doing something and I come across a video on YouTube that I want to watch later, I tend to open a new tab to save it for later. However,
this habit often leads to having a multitude of tabs open, mostly consisting of YouTube and Reddit tabs, as well as various other websites.
I tried using the Arc browser, which is designed for people with this problem, but it didn't work out for me. So, I decided to try something new:
The Edge browser (the one that comes with Windows) offers a unique feature called "make
any site as an app," which is not available in any other browser (Chrome and Firefox has it but just in some very specific sites)
So, here's my tip for procrastinating PC users:
Use everything as a web app. It will definitely increase your productivity if you're like me. If you want to check something on Facebook, simply open it as an app and close it when you're done. The same goes for Twitter, Reddit, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc. basically, just
fix the sites/apps that you access most in your taskbar and use it as your new "tab bar". I only keep a maximum of three YouTube apps open nowadays, mostly for productive stuff, a bit step up from before. It facilitates the organizing part very well.
You'll keep using a browser, obviously, but you'll see it will get more organized since most of the sites you use are now independent.
This feature serves as a reminder that you don't need to have so many tabs open, and it also works well for multitasking. Personally, I have an ultrawide monitor,
so I frequently use apps in different parts of the screen, in this screenshot I'm using Youtube and a Godot doc app i did, and i know that it technically could be done without this function, but it's definitely way easier that way.
It may sound dumb to some... i guess. But it definitely helped me a lot, so I'm sharing it. Have a good day!
PS: You don't actually have to use Edge as your main browser to do that, you don't even have to use it at all, It's just the webappp function that matters. You can still use another browsers, like Firefox, Brave, etc.
PS2: I've used Nobara and it already has a webapp function, so, if you use Linux maybe your distro already has this bult-in. Edge is just, by far, the easiest way to that in Windows.
PS3: Some people don't like Edge privacy-wise. A user in Reddit figured out a way to block Microsoft services in it,
here's the post. It's not as good as Ungooglee Chromium but it's something.

2024.05.11 17:40 ravenwaffles HID-Sony patch install confusion (How do I...)
So this is my main stumbling block with NixOS. I can get 99% of the stuff I want with a combo off appimages and the Nix repos, which out of the box has stuff that over in Arch is in the AUR or Ubuntu doesn't have.
I've been going in circles the past few hours trying to think how to sort a problem., that being that my cloned cheap PS3 pad isn't detected out of the box by the kernel. I'm unsure what the easiest way to have make this work is though since I've no clue what I'm doing with flakes or home-manager or overlays
The link is:
https://github.com/SimplyCEO/generikit-hid-sony/
I'm unsure if the easiest way would be to do a package request, or mess around with overlays and flakes, the second way is something I am not at all confident in though since I'm slowly going through the documentation but not understanding how flakes work and I want to keep my config as simple as is possible and not get too in over my head. So is the easiest way to send in a package request? I spent a few hours trying to get nix-shell to work with a FHS environment which did not go anywherre at all

2024.05.10 01:19 BarbarossaBMW Features/Content/QOL Settings for future titles
QOL Settings: 1) Ability to reposition the HUD elements so they don't block details of the car in cockpit view, this bothers many people.
2) More liberty with the seat position/camera customisation in cockpit view, it is extremely limited and I would like to position my driving camera anywhere I want in the car. If actual racing sims can have these basic QOL settings then a simcade game should definitely have them as well.
3) Ability to look around the entire car in cockpit view with Right stick on controller, as of right now it is impossible to look down for some silly reason.
Content/Features: 1) No proper career mode, this cafe book stuff is just lazy and uninspired. We are not asking for a Hollywood movie story mode with drama, we just want something more immersive, challenging, and rewarding for a career mode.
2) Not enough tracks and missing both a hillclimb track as well as a downtown city street circuit track, the previous games on PS3 had these type of tracks so there is no excuse.
3) Bring back interior modding and customisation, GT6 had a basic version of this with the ability to add gauges to car interiors. On current gen we should be able to change steering wheels, seats and gear knobs in road cars if we want. It looks very stupid when you turn a road car into a fully gutted race car but the interior still looks fresh from the factory with leather seats and airbags, total loss of immersion lol
Feel free to reply to this post and tell me what you think needs to be added to make GT the perfect driving game

2024.05.06 16:06 Netthers Fallout 4 is actually amazing, I want to know why everybody says is the worst fallout
Okay so let me just say I'm a casual in terms of Bethesda games only having played Skyrim which I loved and played like 100hrs. After that I tried playing New Vegas but on a PS3 and the experience was horrible, it did not age well at all and my biggest grip with the game were the dialogue options blocked by stats because I couldn't finish mission unless I leveled up my stats but the fastest way to level up was finishing those missions!
So after the tv show and the next gen update, I gave a try to fallout 4 and fall in love with it, everything that made my New Vegas experience a headache was no longer there and the best I can say about this game is the way that all factions quests are interwined made the story more enjoyable unlike Skyrim where factions have their own separate quests

2024.05.05 19:31 EheroDC Any Souls-like on PS2/GameCube?
I know Demon Souls on PS3 essentially invented the genre, but curious if there were any third person action games with a strong melee focus (attack, parry, block etc) on the PS2 or GameCube?
Edit: It doesn't have to be a FromSoft game, just that style of gameplay.

2024.05.04 08:54 wrensdoldrums Strategy for FFXIII Chapter 11 Boxed Phalanx Fight (no shrouds, minimal grind)
Hey everyone! I'm new to the trilogy and am really enjoying FF13 on Ps3. I ran into an infamous stumbling block in the form of the
Boxed Phalanx fight in Chapter 11 and was ready to grind out a solution (gil for shrouds, or CP, etc) but I was able to handle it and thought I'd share it since I haven't seen this solution around. I don't think this guide will have any spoilers aside from Lightning's Eidolon.
So there are many issues with this fight, but for those who don't know, it's a single
Boxed Phalanx surrounded by
Hoplites. He buffs the Hoplites and summons more until your party is quickly overwhelmed.
The common strat I saw floating around was SAB, MED, SYN to set up buffs and debuffs, perhaps swapping MED for SEN. The issue with this set up is that Hoplites seems to
ignore SEN's provoke and go for the target with lowest HP (untested, just what I've noticed.) Because of this, your buffers and debuffers will die from the Phalanx's heavy opening attack before you can even think to swap to building a stagger chain. It took me many, many attempts before I got around it. I got 3 stars and a second under the target time, so I think it's worth sharing for those who don't have shrouds or want to grind.
What you will need is Lightning (Leader) / Vanille / Fang, a Librascope, 3 TP, some good equipment, and a couple Paradigms. Note: I called this "minimal grind" instead of "no grind" because you need 3 TP (easy to build by killing mobs in the area with the Energy Sash on your Leader) and because RAV is not a native class to Fang and requires a bit of CP investment.
This is what I had for equipment, but feel free to mix and match as you need since you will have different trees unlocked in the Crystarium, might have more accessory slots or less, etc. My equipment is in no way optimal, it's just what got me by.
Lightning: Edged Carbine, Lv. 11, Tetradic Tiara Lv. 1, Shaman's Mark Lv. 1, Gold Bangle Lv. 1.
Vanille: Belladonna Wand Lv. 9, Shield Talisman ★, Sorcerer's Mark Lv. 1
Fang: Bladed Lance Lv. 8, Brawler's Wristband Lv. 1, Brawler's Wristband Lv. 4 (just went all out in STR here, probably better accessories out there for her.)
as for Paradigms:
Relentless Assault RAV / RAV / COM Set active for initial chain building
Tri-disaster RAV / RAV / RAV To reach stagger
Diversity RAV / MED / COM For general recovery
Combat Clinic MED / MED / SEN For emergencies
The basic idea is this: open with using a Librascope so Fang and Vanille's AI know to use Thunder (thankfully Fang unlocks Thunder early as RAV) and start attacking the Phalanx under Relentless Assault. Completely ignore Hoplites and switch to Tri-disaster ASAP until stunned, can occasionally run Diversity/Clinic for healing while building but focus on keeping Tri-disaster up as much as you can.
Then, when he is staggered, immediately summon Odin while still under Tri-disaster.
Odin will keep Lightning healed, and focus on the Phalanx with you. Don't go into Gestalt Mode until the Stagger % is quite high - personally, I waited until Odin's timer was almost done. When you switch to Gestalt, hold off on Zantestsuken until you've burned through a few of his moves. If the Stagger % is high enough, Zantestuken should kill of the Phalanx.
After Odin, switch to Diversity to mop up the remaining Hoplions and survive their remaining buffs (if you don't have a Medic they could kill your leader if they're still buffed.)
And... yep, that should do it! I'm not sure if this will actually help anyone playing for the first time (or replaying) but thought it was worth sharing since it's such an unexpected encounter. Happy gaming!

2024.05.03 04:10 PM_Me_Pikachu_Feet A guide for those trying to use the tamiya99 10million+ archive
| https://preview.redd.it/v8evamtdd4yc1.png?width=571&format=png&auto=webp&s=e353b257b143f875d1208a8c4fd742d0e74cc402 I spent a couple hours trying to figure this out because no one has a clear guide on this. Many people only know how to do this halfway, and many guides left out half of what you need. I managed to piece everything together and found out how to find your level, or another user's level from the huge archive, download it, and have it fully functioning on your moon. I feel its very important for people to know how to do this manually, and help further preserve LBP. Firstly, if you already know how to download your level, skip to the youtube video below if you need to learn how to get it actually functioning on your EmulatoPS3. secondly, try using this website to find the levels you want; https://maticzpl.xyz/lbpfind/?user=&name=Realistic+Objects+Giveaway%21+%28Furniture%2C+Logic%2C+Items%2C+and+More%21%29 If your level is not showing up from this search, then follow the steps below; - First you need "DB Browser for SQLite"
- Go to LBP online levels 2023 (database), show all files, and download dry.db
- Open dry.db in the DB Browser app
- Click Browse Data tab
- Set Table to slot
- on npHandle, search the creator's name. Or, to the right use the column simply named "name" and type the level's name instead.
- After finding your level, scroll to the right to the column named rootLevel, click this block corresponding to the level.
- You'll see a binary code on the right. Let's say for this example, the chosen level's numbers are 03 03 23 d3 97 d7 27 (And so on). Copy this.
- Now on the archive website, you will have to click on the catagory corresponding with the beginning of your level's binary code, only the first character. This example level I'm using's starting number is 0, so this means you go to "LBP online levels 2023 **(res 00-0f)**". Afterwards, click Show all Files
- Now on this page, you want to use the binary code's first 2 characters. Since this particular level starts with 03, this means you'll want to click (view contents) next to dry03. zip. So for example if YOUR level you want starts with 5b, then go to dry5b(view contents).
- Press CTRL+F to bring up a search bar for the page. Type the entire binary code into the search with no spaces. You should find the exact level. This might take a long time to load, and can even crash your webrowser. So let it sit, even if it says 0 results found. Sometimes it takes a minute. After it finds your level, you can click it to download it.
Now, for getting it to run on your LBP2's moon, follow this YouTube Video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coheJhU-qOY The video is almost perfect, the only thing I'd point out is you do not need to have the level named "Unnamed level.". This toolkit in the video allows you to replace ANY already existing moon level you currently have. So instead, I'd recommend creating an empty moon level, name it "Replace this level!" just so you know which one you're replacing. submitted by PM_Me_Pikachu_Feet to littlebigplanet [link] [comments] |

so essentially, my account is set up under my parents email address because the account was made when i was a child. recently, the account has had its password changed and many fraudulent payment attempts were made, leading to my bank card being blocked and replaced twice now. i have tried sending an email to reset it but they aren’t coming through. i have spoken to a support agent but they said i need to provide the serial number for my original console (a PS3 which i no longer have), and the transaction information which i don’t have because the payments were blocked by my bank. this means i can’t change my password at all and im at a bit of a loss because i can’t log into my account, and im worried im going to continue to be victim to this fraud and keep losing my bank card. any help would be hugely appreciated.

2024.04.29 16:41 SpectrallGamiing How did you get into Rise of the Ronin? Here's my story:
This is going to be a bit of a read, you've been warned.
I had just finished Infamous second son and the dlc first light. I had fun with the game. I realized that sucker punch, the devs behind infamous and Sly Cooper, also made ghost of tsushima. I had heard nothing but good things about it, everyone told me I should go get it, and that it was amazing etc.
So I pull up to GameStop to get the directors cut bc they had a used copy, and on the shelf right next to it sits Rise of the Ronin. Thing was, I hadn't heard much about the game except for a few people dissing and dismissing the game because of the games graphics, or dismissing the game because "I haven't heard anyone talk about the game so therefore its bad."
I'm not one to care about graphics. To me all that matters is if the gameplay is good. My issue was I simply lacked any real information about the game. For clarification, how "relavent" a game is doesn't matter to me either. People who say "I haven't heard about it so game bad" are dumb. My issue was strictly about the lack of information that I had. I hadn't heard anything other than the things listed above, and maybe some complaints about dumb enemy AI. I did see one clip of a guy blocking bullets with his flaming swords and then taking the enemy out, so that was cool, but other than that I was completely blind on actual information. I typically don't buy games I know absolutely nothing about, but I took a leap of faith and decided to give it a shot, and spent the 70 bucks for a new copy.
I came for Ghost of Tsushima, also bought Rise of the Ronin, and ended up sending GoT back to the store. Now, Ghost of Tsushima is a graphically beautiful game. It's visuals and atmosphere are top notch. It's presentation is stron... but that's literally all it has. Now I'm sure the story is amazing, but I couldn't even get far enough into it because the gameplay was so boring because it was literally piss easy.
It's combat system is extremely forgiving. Too forgiving. Sure there are some mechanics it tried to teach you, but you can completely ignore all of it and just spam dodge until you are behind your enemy and just stab them in the back. Now I'm not gonna act like I play the hardest games on earth. I've never touched dark souls or anything like that. However, I do think games should have unique gameplay and/or present some sort of challenge to the player. Sucker punch games haven't always been the most mechanically deep, but never have they been devoid of gameplay entirely. I quit after 3 hours.💀
Rise of the Ronin is on the opposite spectrum. It's graphics aren't the best as people have correctly pointed out, to me it looks like a late life cycle PS3 game that got remastered for PS4. But they are incorrect when they come to the conclusion that lower graphical fidelity makes the game ugly!
It takes more than some photorealistic water droplets or peach fuzz to make a game that looks good. Art style, lighting, setting, tone, atmosphere and the bigger picture in terms of the scenery as a whole play a huge part in a games visuals. An even bigger part I dare say than graphical fidelity. Visually it all comes together to create a game that's really great to look at. A game does NOT need to look like real life to look good, graphical fidelity is NOT everything! Despite what graphics detractors say, this game is absolutely beautiful in my opinion.
Visuals also have absolutely no bearing on the gameplay as well, which is phenomenal! It's some of the best gameplay I've gotten out of a Sony title probably ever. It can definitely be challenging but the game is always fair, and I'm having so much fun. Hell, The difficulty is WHY I'm having fun. I looked into the development team, and it turns out its team ninja, the people who made Ninja Gaiden. Im now adding all of the Team Ninja games to my backlog to complete after I finish RotR and Stellar Blade, which are shaping up to be my favorite games of this year!

2024.04.29 13:03 ajrobsonReddit Can’t leave comments on playstation blog, can you get blocked?!
I noticed this issue a few weeks ago. I’ve tried different devices and browser on and off my wifi but whenever I try to comment it says I need to login, I login the page reloads I scroll down to comments and it says I need to login.
I can see other peoples comments so comments are working but why can’t I post?
Does anyone else have this issue?
Could I be blocked for some reason?
I don’t know why I would be blocked I’ve hardly used the comments before and I’d never say anything block worthy anyway! I’ve had my account since the PS3 launch and spent a lot of money on the psn there’s no way I’d risk getting blocked by saying something stupid.

2024.04.27 14:17 RazzeeX Assassin's Creed (PS3): is my save file done for?
Hello.
I never played an
Assassin's Creed game before, and decided to start from the first one, on the PS3.
To be fair, the performance is pretty bad, and I wish I started on the X360 instead.
In any case, I managed to get to Memory Block #5, after just killing the 9th target.
Around that point, the game started acting funny, freezing while loading. There was a point when my character simply froze while walking, and all I could do was to move the camera. I even thought that it was intended and waited for a while, and nothing happened. Then I had to hard reset the system.
After so much freezing (while loading), apparently my character showed up in the Animus with no one else there, and I cannot interact with any object, open any door etc. Is the only way around it to someone else's save file? I already downloaded it. I'm not going to start the game from the scratch, but I'd like to resume with my own save file and progress.
The save file itself can be downloaded here:
https://www.4shared.com/s/fn0onsVGLfa If you do not want to download the save file, which sounds reasonable, the issue can be seen here, towards the end of the video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHE0rW1PUrI At about 2:07:00 you can see the character stuck in his animation. Just great.
Around December, I intend to fix my Xbox One X's HDMI out port to play this game again in 4K and get all achievements, but I really wish I could finish it right now on the PS3, since I already got so far in the game.
All in all, it was a insightful experience to see firsthand how bad it was the optimization on PS3 games in the early years of the system. Ubisoft did not really care at all. The frame-rate is all over the place and screen-tearing is pretty bad.

2024.04.25 08:46 Dilaudid2meetU Why are Mercury Steam’s Metroid games so well received while the Castlevania one (they made 3 but I mean the almost MV one) doesn’t seem to be?
I actually just looked and it seems like Mirror of Fate has decent reviews and ratings but it still seems to be largely ridiculed in both the CV subreddit and this one. I’ve only played the demo of Dread but from what I saw both games are mostly made in the same style with the same formula. They both feature Quick Time Events, which I actually hate in a MV game, but Dread seems plenty popular despite this.
For CV fans is it the alternate timeline that changes established character backstories? For MV fans is it the fact that the games is split into levels instead of having a single large map with unlimited backtracking? I’ve never played it on PS3 or Steam so I can’t say if presentation is closer to Dread on these platforms or it still looks like a 3DS game.
It would be easy enough to port to Switch but I understand why Konami doesn’t as it probably wouldn’t sell as well as the GBA or classic collections. I thought it was the closest thing to a 2.5D CV MV game and enjoyed it except for the issue I already mentioned but I feel like I’m in a minority. Is it the reasons I already listed or something else?
Edit: I’m seeing a lot of answers in two different categories where one makes sense and the other doesn’t. First the good - SDread are closer to classic Metroid than MoF is to classic Castlevania. This is obviously true.
The second is that Mercury Steam massively improved from MoF to Dread/SR. I don’t see this at all. Combat feels the same across all 3 titles with a pushed light up block/parry/dodge system. Boss designs are similar across all three, play close to the same and always end in QTEs. I agree whipping could be tighter in MoF but combat got messed up in Dread/SR too. Quality is the same by and large across all 3.
Honestly the most logical thing I am hearing is that Dread/SR aren’t very good either but Metroid fans are easier to please. This one is the best answer.
I still think MoF is massively under appreciated and adds a lot to 2.5D MV-Lite CV play. Not a series high point but better than PoR and OoE as they butchered the map in these two and they are even less of MV games than MoF.

2024.04.19 13:27 CrimFandango Splinter Cell 1 modding
I've been using the PS3 textures for the PC version of Splinter Cell for quite a while now. As some of you may know, this doesn't come perfectly as there are hiccups in the way they appear ingame. The wire fence at the beginning of Kalinatek does not display the lighting/shadows of the wire correctly as it should compared to the vanilla textures. The same issue can be seen in Pandora Tomorrow at the start of the second level, with what should be a partially transparent texture completely blocking out the light it should be revealing. My personal goal was to simply fix this issue.
My question is how feasible is it to still mod textures in this game today? I have endlessly googled for hours in the past which results in outdated suggestions to use various unreal 2 editors and such but even when those are hard to come by, there are still issues in the process regarding the exporting/importing of textures that have to be in the UTX file format. I've no problem getting my hand on the image files. The problem lies with the importing of those textures and the compiling of them into a UTX file.
I know deep down I'm going to get a "Not gonna happen" answer but hey, I thought I'd ask.
