2024.06.09 14:00 pullupinthemonstA End treatment of braces getting worse than before?

So I’ve been on braces since May 2021. Since getting them I have always had days where I thought I looked nice and days where I thought I looked worse however I still would see improvement ervery few months.
My face in general has always had one side looking a bit different however I noticed that by symmetry started to improve with the braces on… UNTIL this year. It all started when my orthodontist was not in so another orthodontist decided to do my adjustments. After that my entire face just relapsed and got worse each adjustment even when my orthodontist came back the appointment after. That new orthodontist at the time always started telling me how “my teeth were ready for the braces to be off the next appointment” when in reality that was not the case at all as my bite still needed to be adjusted. Luckily my braces didn’t get removed as my regular orthodontist was back in however he still did book the next 3 appointments after that as the “final” check until he saw that my bite was just taking time to adjust. But to be honest I’m not seeing any more improvement at all. In fact it feels like my results are starting to relapse and some teeth are starting to become crooked again… My face and smile also looks like it started to go more crooked as well. Prior to braces, I had a smile that looked like a “smirk” however that was going away and I actually never saw my smirk smile again until this year !! And this time it looks even worse that every time I smile, one side is visibly more higher than the other. The asymmetry is even evident when I eat or talk now and I have no idea why this is all happening now. I haven’t gotten any extractions and only got 1 elastic but nothing else. I do have extra 5 wisdom teeth however was told I can get them out at anytime. I’m not sure if it may be that ? I also have a deviated septum which is getting worse so I’m not sure if that be it either?
Photos of me look absolutely horrendous now and less soft. It’s like my face I had prior braces but worse except my teeth are just straighter (with an uneven bite). I’m not sure if I’m overthinking as I have the tendency to do that but my mum did notice my smile looking more “smirkier” again however she is also someone that is paranoid and likes my “crooked” teeth better so I don’t think I can even count on her word. No one else has noticed anything and say they still see the same improvements.
I feel so sad because this is all happening towards the end of my treatment where I’ve paid most of the money already. I hate that this is happening all at the end as well , especially after I was having improvements. My orthodontist did assure he wouldn’t take the braces off until I’m happy and until he’s satisfied as well but I feel like he would definitely disregard any facial changes. I know without photos, it’s not gonna be much help but just wondering if anyone has gone through this ?

2024.06.09 13:57 Leading-Damage6331 realestate macro report

Executive Summary
The global real estate market in June 2024 presents a mixed picture. While a recent dip in mortgage rates has brought some relief for potential buyers, rising construction costs continue to pose challenges. Investors are adopting a cautious approach, with a growing focus on specific sectors like commercial real estate in Japan and sustainability features across the board.
Mortgage Rates Offer a Glimmer of Hope
A recent decline in global mortgage rates has provided a much-needed boost for homebuyers facing affordability hurdles. According to the Financial Times, average mortgage rates dipped below 7% for the first time in weeks, sparking renewed interest in the housing market. This trend is particularly welcome in regions where affordability concerns have been particularly acute. However, experts advise caution, as market fluctuations remain a concern.
Rising Construction Costs Dampen Enthusiasm
While lower mortgage rates offer some breathing room, the ongoing rise in construction costs continues to cast a shadow. A CNBC report highlights the impact on new development projects and affordability, particularly for entry-level homes. Developers face the difficult task of balancing rising material and labor costs with maintaining competitive selling prices. This situation could lead to a slowdown in new construction activity, potentially impacting housing supply in the long term.
Shifting Investment Strategies
Investors are adopting a more cautious approach in this uncertain market environment. The Wall Street Journal reports a shift in focus towards specific sectors perceived as more resilient, such as commercial real estate in Japan (Nikkei Asia). This trend reflects a desire for stable returns amidst broader market volatility.
Sustainability Takes Center Stage
A growing emphasis on sustainability is a defining characteristic of the evolving real estate landscape. The Green Building Council reports that energy-efficient features and sustainable practices are becoming increasingly important to homebuyers. This shift in preferences presents both challenges and opportunities for developers and investors. Integrating sustainable elements into new construction projects will be crucial for attracting buyers and tenants, while also mitigating environmental impact.
Regional Market Updates
North America - A Tale of Two Markets
The North American market presents a contrasting picture. The California Association of Realtors reports a deepening affordability crisis in the state, with a staggering 83% of residents now unable to afford a home. This issue demands innovative solutions, and Habitat for Humanity showcases success stories of affordable housing initiatives across the US.
However, the National Association of Realtors paints a different picture for the broader North American market. While rising mortgage rates and home prices are squeezing buyer budgets, the overall market remains relatively stable.
Europe - Brexit Looms Large
The UK market witnesses a significant development with Vistry Group announcing a major homebuilding project in collaboration with Blackstone & Regis (Vistry Group press release). This initiative aims to address housing needs, but the ongoing Brexit negotiations continue to cast uncertainty on the future of the European real estate market (European Commission).
Meanwhile, UN-Habitat offers a case study of a successful urban regeneration project in a European city, demonstrating the potential for revitalizing underutilized spaces.
Asia - Opportunity and Risk
News from Asia highlights both opportunity and risk. Caixin Global reports a lawsuit against China South City's state-owned shareholder, raising concerns about potential instability in the Chinese market. However, The Economic Times paints a more positive picture in India, with a surge in demand for office space leading to the expansion of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs). Additionally, Nikkei Asia and DBS Group explore the growing trend of co-living spaces in major Asian cities, catering to a younger generation of urban dwellers.
Investment Strategies for Uncertain Times
Investors seeking to navigate the current market environment require a well-defined strategy tailored to their risk tolerance. The Urban Land Institute offers insights for investors across various risk profiles, highlighting the benefits and risks of investing in specific sectors like student housing or healthcare facilities.
Furthermore, the rise of PropTech (property technology) is revolutionizing the way we invest in real estate. MIT Technology Review explores the impact of PropTech on investment strategies, from data-driven decision-making to streamlined property management solutions.
Remember: This report is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial advice. Please consult with a qualified financial professional before making any investment decisions.
Conclusion
The global real estate market in June 2024 presents a complex landscape with opportunities and challenges. While a dip in mortgage rates offers some hope for buyers, rising construction costs and broader economic uncertainties call for a cautious approach. Shifting investor focus towards stable sectors and a growing emphasis on sustainability are key trends driving the market forward

2024.06.09 13:56 SuperJumperGxJ Concerning the ruling on medical procedures

The mods have for some unknown reason seen it fit to remove the ruling regarding medical procedures, so I once more present my case to you, the council.
Six years and four months ago, a team of surgeons carefully replaced one of my bones over the course of almost 12 hours. The reason they did this was because there was a tumor growing from within the bone; no chemotherapy or radiation could reach it. In other words, they removed the bone BECAUSE of its strength.
Now, good strong-boned ones of the council, I have spent six years with this replacement bone, a composite of donor material and titanium. It has not broken nor failed. Is it perfect? No. But, while studying recreations of my tumor in rodents, they witnessed growth far exceeding the rate of the one in my bone.
Now, knowing this, I was informed four years ago that I was indeed among the esteemed ranks of the strong-boned. And yet, now it seems that the intent is to go back on this, to spit in the faces of those who have faced the blade. Such disrespect leads me to suspect that it is possible there are weak-bones fools lurking in the ranks of those we trust. If they silence me, we will know this is true. Stay strong, my allies, even if this proves a dark hour for us all.

2024.06.09 13:54 claire0619 What is the significance of EDA for an image data?

Hello! I'm an undergraduate student who has just started on Kaggle. I started to apply the insights gained from studying Kaggle to my thesis. I would greatly appreciate it if experts could answer my questions.
I am interested in the field of neuroimaging and am looking at discussions from a competition called TReNDs that took place four years ago. However, I don't fully understand the significance of the EDA process. It's hard to find notebooks that use data distributions found through EDA in preprocessing or model improvement. Is that usually the case? Especially for image data, EDA seems to primarily involve visualization. Besides getting familiar with the data, what other significance does it have?
Thank you in advance for your help!

2024.06.09 13:53 Important_Space_7730 Special consideration on top of short extension: Likely to be accepted or declined?

Hey guys, as titled, plus I submitted special consideration with an Updoc medical certificate today before the assessment is due at 11:55pm tonight (new short extension due date). In the certificate, it says "This document is to declare that in my opinion (name) is unfit for studies and should be allowed absence from studies for the dates between 09/06/2024 and 11/06/2024 inclusive." What are my chances?
Also how long do they generally take to reply?
In case if I am approved, would the extension apply until the 11th or from the day they approve for 2 days? (stupid question but I've just never applied for special consideration before)

2024.06.09 13:40 PinkSwallowLove What are my chances of graduating from college debt free? (Rhode Island)

I am currently 24 years old, low income, living in a homeless shelter. I live in Rhode Island whereas all of my family lives in California. My family will not be contributing a penny towards my education (though for personal reasons, I prefer it this way anyway). I am considered independent on the FAFSA.
I am enrolled to study at Bristol Community College (BCC) in Fall River, Massachusetts. I will be commuting. This will be my first semester, starting in September. Although I am a Rhode Island resident and I actively and exclusively live in Rhode Island, I was fortunate enough to qualify for the New England Regional Student Program’s tuition reciprocity agreement, meaning I pay the in state tuition rate for BCC.
As a Rhode Island resident, naturally, I did not qualify for any state level aid from MA but I did qualify for the maximum amount of the federal Pell Grant award of $7,395 to be disbursed semesterly. I did the math and the Pell Grant will basically be enough to cover all the tuition and fees of BCC as long as I take no more than 15 credits worth of courses per semester.
My bigger concern is what is going to happen when I transfer.
I would like to transfer to either Rhode Island College (RIC) or the University of Rhode Island (URI) after I finish my gen ed at BCC. I am leaning towards RIC because tuition is somewhat low at around $10,000 per year. Again, as an RI resident, I would qualify for both in state tuition, state level aid and federal aid for RIC and URI.
Another reason I am leaning towards RIC is because it has a transfer articulation agreement with BCC, so as long as I take all the required courses, all my credits are guaranteed to transfer. Plus, I am picking my classes mindfully so that it adheres to the transfer articulation agreement.
Now, let’s say I transfer to RIC. With the Pell Grant (I know it can be subject to change but for simplicity’s sake, let’s say it remains the same), the tuition would then get knocked down to $2,605 per year. Would state aid be enough to cover this difference? And what about other expenses like textbooks?
I work as a janitor at the shelter where I live but I don’t get too many hours (usually between 10 to 25 hours per week) but it does allow me to essentially create my own schedule, like what days I want to work and start time. This flexibility will be particularly helpful when I start my classes come September. In any case, should I give up the unparalleled flexibility of this job for a job that gives me more hours so I can pay for college? Should I also turn to merit aid? Will this be enough? Will I realistically be able to pull off college debt free?

2024.06.09 13:40 d34thr03 I'm a 23-year-old forensic technician/autopsy assistant. AMA! Graphic content

Howdy!
I (23F) am quickly approaching my 1 year anniversary of employment (June 20th). I really love my job, and because people are constantly asking questions about the work I do, I figure doing an AMA might be fun!
Some background information:
I have a B.A. in Anthropological Studies, with most of my interest being in cultural anthropology and death practices across various cultures. I had no intention of being in the medicolegal field or working with (sometimes) freshly dead bodies.
I have been told that "forensic techs" aren't a standardized position, so every office will require different levels of training. It is my understanding that we have a little bit more training than average, so we do eviscerations, specialized dissections, in-house dental (DEXIS), etc.
I have done autopsies on all stages of life, all stages of decomposition, simple cases like heart attacks and complex cases like amniotic fluid embolisms. Homicides, suicides, drug overdoses, traffics, etc. are regular, daily occurrences for us.
*Specific locations and the name of my office will not be shared. No identifiable information of specific decedents will be shared.

One Man, Nine Websites, Zero Respect (Salary-Wise): Where's the Remote SEO El Dorado Hiding?
Hi everyone,
I'm an SEO Specialist with 4 years of experience, currently based in Egypt. While I'm passionate about driving organic growth, my current role leaves me feeling undervalued despite achieving impressive results.
Here's what I've accomplished:
  • Boosted website traffic by a staggering 283% for a medical clinic, taking them from 50,500 clicks to 194,000 clicks in just 6 months.
  • Increased website visibility by 79,667% for a new website, generating a massive jump from 3 clicks to 2,410 clicks within 3 months. (See more details in my case studies!)
https://preview.redd.it/uqy2o4ln8j5d1.jpg?width=1517&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3b87f0a30fec980114c8c1b858b22f72da161abd
  • Successfully managed and optimized websites across various industries like medical, fitness, and e-commerce.
However, in my current role, my expertise isn't fully utilized:
  1. Limited resources and budget: Struggle to implement comprehensive SEO strategies due to resource constraints.
  2. Lack of recognition: My achievements haven't translated into a salary that reflects my skills and value.
This is why I'm exploring remote opportunities in Kuwait!
Is there a good chance for someone like me to find a fulfilling and well-compensated remote SEO position in Kuwait agencies?
Are there agencies known for valuing their SEO specialists and offering competitive salaries?

2024.06.09 13:30 LySerDick Volume imbalance (problem identified)

I created this post only for future people who are having the same problem as me, to find out the cause of this problem. Hope this gets to as many people as possible. I'm gonna shorten it up because it is kinda long story.
3 years back, I observe that left channel is playing louder than the right one. (I'm using headphones). I solved it by "earballing" the level in Windows and didn't care anymore. After few months of ignoring it, I thought I need to pinpoint the problem. It's the southbridge. Let me explain:
Things i tried:
Other USB soundcards, other headsets, clean Windows installation, different SSD with clean Windows installation, plugging the desktop computer to different electricity socket (because i was so paranoid that it might be electricity LOL but you need to be sure about everything haha) , buying a new PSU, cleaning the computer with compressed air, changing thermal paste on CPU as well as southbridge chip.
I thoroughly inspected the motherboard for signs of corrosion, puffed up condensators and other abnormalities. Nothing. Even after removing passive cooler block on southbridge there wasn't any trace of short circuit.
What should I've done:
Measure the southbridge traces / components with multimeter. (I don't have one, neither do I know what to measure).
Besides all of that, I think i can say with 99% accuracy that the issue is southbridge. All of the components that the southbridge handles, I have problem with.
If you're reading this, and you're having issues with volume imbalance, please observe if you have any problems with other components. In my case, it was just the volume. Only after few months it worsen up and was affecting even more components.
Solution?
Well, other than buying a new motherboard or re-soldering the chip, there isn't one.
The point of this post: If you suffer from volume imbalance, pay attention to other components handled by SB if they're showing any signs of malfunction. If so, and you don't want to blindly buy a new components, bring the device to technician and asked them if they can measure SB voltage/resistance.
My components are 10+ years old so it's not surprising that it is failing. (Even though some PCs can last much longer)

34yo everyday look - Not enough foundation?
I’m 34 years old and have never done Botox or anything. (If that matters. I just wanted to mention it just in case.)
I tried out a new light, everyday look. I’ve gotten feedback here before that I don’t need as much foundation and concealer as I think but now I’m wondering if this is too little and makes my skin look uneven?
I’ve included a picture of my face without makeup. My skin looks really oily but that’s just because I had just applied all the “potions and lotions” and was waiting for them to absorb before applying makeup. 😅
I usually use very red lipstick so this is a demure shade for me. 😂
(And seriously, how do you all take such lovely pictures of your makeup? It’s so hard to take a photo that’s both flattering AND shows off the makeup? I’m so impressed!)
Any other comments or feedback is greatly appreciated! 🌸💐
I used to be fairly good at makeup, or at least I wore it everyday 😅 but I’ve been studying and working from home for the last few years and I’m out of practice.

Also, if someone is on the fence about trying products from Victoria Beckham, I can really recommend them. Pricey but I’ve been very impressed with them and while this doesn’t affect the quality, all the packaging is really well-made, “heavy”/sturdy and feels luxurious and enjoyable to use 😂

  • BB-cream: Klairs - Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream (only comes in one shade)
  • Concealer: MAC - Studio Finish SPF35 Concealer in NC15
  • Setting powder: Laura Mercier - Translucent Loose Setting Powder in Translucent levels 1-2

2024.06.09 12:59 vishi_root 1 year of Por Thozhil!

Just loved the concepts and ideas that went behind the writing....
  1. "The Art and the Artist"- The way Sarath Kumar says "every crime scene should be treated like a case study and the staging of a "death" gives an insight into the killer's mind and motive.
  2. "The Glaister Equation"- The way Ashok tries to figure of TOD by retracing time using brain temperature drop in thermometer.
  3. "Eye for an eye"- The killer couldn't take abuse from his own wife. He's submissive at home. He takes out all those subverted emotions on other women instead by killing them and rejoicing their final moments as their souls leave their body. A form of "catharsis" for a wounded soul. A soul for a soul.
  4. "The CopyCat killer"- one killer replicating the Modus Operandi of another killer and framing him for the crimes. Ironically, #Kennedy had a better motive but he chose to retire after a point.
  5. "The Stovepipe Malfunction"- which brings out Ashok's book wisdom in the climax scene.
  6. "Breaking the Loop"- how Ashok stops the cycle of abuse in a stranger's house and makes the child feel loved. So that he doesn't grow up to be another Kennedy/ the villain because of bad parenting/ negligent/ abusive childhood.

2024.06.09 12:57 anjaanladka E-commerce clients!

So when I was learning web design two years ago I was reading case studies of people and most of people working with e-commerce clients said that they would never work again in the niche and I always thought why is that, I thought it was much easier than other niches until I got my first client last week, and let me tell you that everyone was right, they are a very big headache, unless it’s a an already established brand with not a lot of products it is not worth it! Like my client literally nitpicked even the smallest details, I had to change a product page nearly 8 times because she didn’t like this like that, I never had such a client as of now so this was my first, and the thing she wasn’t even paying that much, took me a literal week to create a website that was supposed to be simple because she can’t make up her mind! Now I don’t know if everyone is like this but as far as I heard most e-com clients are like this! But I guess it was a lesson learned for me! But it was a cool experience, and I am not sure if I would ever take another e-com client again!

2024.06.09 12:57 PabloXDark Should I change to another research group for my master's thesis? Or stay in the same where I did my bachelor's?

I am currently doing my Physics M.Sc in Germany. Here you get to choose the research group where you want to do your thesis in and I am starting to think about where to do my master thesis in. Half a year ago i did bachelor thesis in a wonderful research group with a very good advisor and an awesome professor. I know that I would probably would be accepted there to do my master's thesis and I'll probably also enjoy it.
On the other hand I study at a university with strong ties to a national research center. This means that there are countless of reaserch teams working here with varying research goals and specialities. Because of this I also think that I would be wasting an opportunity by staying at the same group and (most probably) doing reasearch in a very similar topic as I did in my bachelor's.
My ultimate goal is to hopefully work in academia/research in the future. What would then be the best choice?
or
I should probably mention that my speciality is (experimental) particle and accelerator physics. The research I did on my bachelor thesis was on "Top Quark physics" and in the case I change to another group for my master thesis it would still be on something inside particle physics and not a completely different speciality.

2024.06.09 12:49 HYV2812 People with morals are struggling and people with no morals are getting everything

I don't know what this society has become. I am 26 right now and I always wanted to have a woman in my life who I can love, travel with her, be with her, just live the life you know but I am not able to find anyone.
Whereas my friends, all of them who has girlfriends, don't take the relationship seriously and cheats on them. I don't know why people get in a relationship if you can't be loyal to that person. There's one friend of mine who is attractive has been in many relationships in his life, he went to Ukraine for further studies (before the war), and he was in a relationship with a girl at that time and still is. In Ukraine he hooked up with many women and his gf knows it. Now he's back obviously to the country because of the war but the thing is his gf knew about it and they are still in relationship. There's another friend who has gf but he keeps a hookup partner also witn him, and occasionally hooks up with other girls. On social media they act all lovey-dovey but seriously guys who are they trying to fool. I kind of get annoyed sometimes, because I know in my heart that if I get in a relationship I won't do these kind of things and will stick to my morals but the universe always support those people who are morally fucked up. People say that you should not feel jealous from someone, okay agreed, but when you see these types of examples in front of you, it is obvious that you'll get angry. I don't know if universe has always worked like this or this is in my case only. I feel that people nowadays don't want a healthy relationship. They want chaos. If I try to befriend girls I like, I always meet with ignorance and rejection. I didn't had good friends growing up and they used to always put me down when I used to discuss my crushes with them. This has affected my self confidence. I am starting to regain it slowly but seeing these kind of examples in my life and on social media kind of puts me down sometimes.
I don't know what to say anymore, i guess it is just a rant. I thank all who reads my post.

2024.06.09 12:48 Hasan_seo How do I increase quality backlinks in SEO?

How do I increase quality backlinks in SEO?
Backlinks are a fundamental aspect of SEO, playing a crucial role in improving your search engine ranking and domain authority. But not all backlinks are created equal. High-quality backlinks can significantly boost your SEO efforts, while low-quality backlinks may do more harm than good. Here's a comprehensive guide to building quality backlinks that stand the test of time.
Importance of Quality Backlinks
Backlinks are essentially votes of confidence from other websites. The more reputable sites that link to your content, the higher you'll rank in search engine results. A study by Backlinko found a strong correlation between backlinks and high search engine rankings, emphasizing the importance of quality over quantity.
Strategies for Earning High-Quality Backlinks

1. Create Valuable, Shareable Content

Content is king, and valuable content naturally attracts backlinks. Focus on creating in-depth, well-researched articles, infographics, and videos that provide real value to your audience. Content that solves problems, provides unique insights, or entertains is more likely to be shared and linked to.

2. Engage in Guest Blogging

Guest blogging is a win-win strategy. By contributing high-quality content to reputable blogs in your industry, you can earn valuable backlinks and reach a broader audience. Ensure your guest posts are informative, engaging, and relevant to the host blog's audience.

3. Leverage Influencer Partnerships

Collaborate with influencers in your niche to create and promote content. Influencers often have a large, engaged audience, and their endorsement can drive significant traffic and backlinks to your site. According to various case studies, influencer partnerships can be highly effective in generating quality backlinks.

4. Conduct a Backlink Audit

Regularly auditing your backlink profile helps you understand where your backlinks are coming from and identify areas for improvement. Tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, and Moz can help you analyze your backlinks, identify toxic links, and discover new linking opportunities.

Building Relationships for Natural Backlinks
Engaging with other websites and online communities is crucial for attracting natural backlinks. Participate in industry forums, comment on relevant blog posts, and offer your expertise in online discussions. Building genuine relationships can lead to natural backlink opportunities over time.
The Role of Social Media and Content Promotion
Social media platforms are excellent for promoting your content and increasing its visibility. Share your articles, infographics, and videos on social media to reach a wider audience and encourage shares. More visibility often translates to more backlinks.
Monitoring and Maintenance of Backlinks
Once you've earned backlinks, it's essential to monitor and maintain them to ensure they continue to provide value. Use tools like Google Search Console, Ahrefs, or SEMrush to track your backlinks and ensure they remain active and relevant. Reach out to webmasters if a valuable backlink is removed or if the linked page undergoes significant changes.
The Pitfalls of Black Hat SEO Tactics
Avoid black hat SEO tactics like buying backlinks or participating in link schemes. These practices may offer short-term gains but can lead to severe penalties from search engines, damaging your site's credibility and ranking. Focus on ethical, sustainable strategies that prioritize user value and long-term success.
Tools and Resources for Backlink Building
Several tools can assist you in your backlink-building efforts:
· Ahrefs and SEMrush for backlink analysis and competitor research.
· BuzzSumo for identifying trending content and influencers in your niche.
· Moz for comprehensive SEO insights and backlink tracking.

GAYS IN THE MILITARY
A great many people of the United States are alarmed at the state of their nation today. The US is b becoming spiritually bankrupt as is the whole of gthw world. Each one of us must search our soul to determine our responsibility for permitting this state of degeneracy. Our greatest responsibility is to our family and the people with whom we come in contact. We must make sure that we don't fall victim to the evil forces that we find all around us. We must pray harder, realizing our dependence on Almighty God. We must work harder, realizing g that evil succeeds because "good men" do nothing.
I would suggest you go b ack and re-read the "community rules for revolution" a few times, also. It works in perfect harmony with the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. WE shall print them also as space allows. YOU MUST HAVE ACCESS TO HOW THESE THINGS COME UPON YOU AND HOW CAREFULLY THE EVENTS HAVE BEEN PLANNED---FOR CENTURIES, AGAINST THIS DAY.
While our focus is on the moral decay and upsurgenof political plunder of the world, let us share with you a "response" top articles regarding the Constitutional Law Center (CLC) participation in the "Military---Gay" situation.
QUOTE:
The Constitutional Law Center responds to Pete Dexter and others who favor lifting the ban on the enlisting of gays into the military service.
_________________
Gene Dixon, director of the Sacramento branch of the Constitutional Law Center and author of then book entitled "COMMON SENSE, THE SECOND, WITH APOLOGIES TO THOMAS PAINE," has written and submitted this fresponbsb to Pete Dexter as a result of Mr. Dexter's column on Sunday, January 31, 1993.
Mr. Dexter, in your column of the above date you refer to the actions of President Clinton in promoting the removal of the restrictions of the gays in the military as the actions of a very brave man and such action is the decent and important action to take. You further castigated anyone who opposed this as being of a very bigoted mind.
The actions of President Clinton in this respect are not brave, decent and certainly not important at this time. Mr. Clinton is paying off a political debt to a very minority group that gave him 70% of their vote.
A history of that promise is outlined in our recollections of the several speeches that Mr. Clinton gave to various gay groups which led to his final commitment. Mr. Clinton's first speech to the gays was not this committing, but the promise occurred after he allowed himself to be manipulated into such a situation. Mr. Clinton made a number of promises prior to his election that were and are far more important to the economy of this nation than this commitment to the gays. To spend so much time and effort of his initial term on a matter that benefits few and outrages many is akin to stupidity and "fiddling while Rome is burning."
If the issue was one of discrimination, the answer is easily explained. The military is not a democracy and it was never intended to be a democratic institution. By its very need and nature it cannot be a democracy. If it were a democracy I could visualize the need for a vote and discussion before every battle.
The military discriminates in every possible way. They won't take you if you are too short, too fat, too skinny, too small, too smart, too dumb and in other physical and moral ways. Our military has become the most effective fighting force in the world and the greatest guarantor of our Constitutional rights based upon this concept of "discrimination".
There have probably always been a few gays in the service and undoubtedly some of them have served their country well, but they have not flaunted their lifestyle as normal and respectful. There are few things in life that you can perceive and view and declare to be normal and I would challenge anyone to find a more appropriate norm than the relationship of a man and a woman joined together too produce a family life style.
The gays would have you believe that this relationship is only the traditional lifestyle and they offer their lifestyle as an alternative. Their lifestyle is not traditional and it is not normal. It certainly flaunts the laws of Nature. When we talk to our children now about the birds and the bees and other things, the gays would have us tell our children of the alternative gay life style.
If it is not normal, its is immoral; if it is the result of a missing gene or one too many; it is abnormal. In either case, the military can consider the effect of introducing such a concept into the military.
It is not a lifestyle as it does not promote life. It is an existence that defies Nature and is based upon the concept of, "if it feels good, do it." It is totally self-destructive end not capable of reproduction of the species.
We have been so inundated in the past several years via the media that we are fast approaching the era of an AIDS epidemic and, from the information distributed, the major persons causing the spread of this virus are members of the gay community and particularly by the more aggressive members of the 17-25 year old age group. By chance, this group is most likely to want to join the military.
It is no secret but an open and known fact that sexual gratification is one of our most passionate and even uncontrollable urges. Does it make sense at all to force this environment among our sons and daughters of this same age group?
If we accept the views of the medical experts that the virus is undetectable and may lay dormant for as long as 10 to 15 years in a person's body and that in some cases it is transmitted by blood transfusions or saliva or other un known means, have we just not dumped on.our existing military the means to create an AIDS epidemic that might well wipe out our population.
There are other very practical reasons to keep the ban in place. Do you have to build separate facilities to house this group? What is the total tax bill cost to the taxpayer who is probably already out of work and wondering how to pay his bills?
What about rthw flamboyant gays? The ones who are convinced they are female? Do you accept them also, or do you discriminate within this group[?
Has anyone studied the inter-relation of the gays into the prison structure? The prisons have lived with this situation for years. What have been the results of that study?
The gays admit they are well organized, that they are well financed, that they are dedicated seed and disciplined and the have recognized their political power. It is time for the silent majority to recognize that this is not a fight of discrimination, but a fight to force the majority to accept their lifestyle as normal.
The Constitutional Law Center will not do this and this is why the Law Center will file a class action on behalf of any military person who does not want to live within such an environment. We will ask for individual damages to compensate every service person for the loss of his career.

POTENTIAL Crypto Hair Loss Scam: Hair Dao & Illegal Human Clinical Trials with Chemotherapy drugs
I want you to take a seat back and give this post some time. Or, just look at the points in the TL;DR section of this write up.
Hair Dao, a crypto project claiming to revolutionize hair loss research, operates as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) using blockchain technology and smart contracts. Despite its bold claims, Hair Dao has raised significant concerns. Led by a researcher named "Jumpman," the organization has conducted illegal human trials using unapproved chemotherapy drugs obtained through "group buying" from China, without safety or ethical oversight.
Alleged collaborations with Dr. Claire Higgins from Imperial College London appear dubious, as she denies knowing "Jumpman." Operating in the largely unregulated crypto space, Hair Dao faces substantial compliance risks with the SEC and FDA. The project’s co-founders are connected to crypto venture funds with suspiciously high returns.
Efforts to create credibility through legitimate researchers are overshadowed by their community's harassment tactics against YouTubers. Traditional funding methods for hair loss research offer more transparency and safety than relying on cryptocurrency. Given these red flags, I'd be skeptical and avoid the hype surrounding Hair Dao.
https://i.redd.it/7prd6rduti5d1.gif

Get some Popcorn...

Every so often, the hair loss community gets swept up by a new trend or treatment that, despite having only minimal evidence, often a mere mouse study, convinces many to invest in the latest product. Examples include Bioner's CosmeRNA, HairGuard's Growband, and potentially Niostem. However, none of these quite compare to the latest around a Crypto Token known as "Hair Dao."
Real quick, wtf is a dao? A dao, or Decentralized Autonomous Organization, is a type of organization represented by rules encoded as a computer program that is transparent, controlled by organization members, and not influenced by a central government. Daos are typically built on blockchain technology, like Ethereum, and operate using smart contracts, which are self-executing contracts with the terms of the agreement directly written into code. Keep in mind the decentralized aspects of this.
So, what exactly is Hair Dao? According to its creators, it’s a "Decentralized Science" Crypto project that claims it will "cure hair loss" by taking over the role of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the realm of hair loss research and early development. The NIH is a well-established U.S. government agency known for its role in funding scientific research. Hair Dao's ambition is nothing short of revolutionary—or at least, that's what they assert. In fact, its cringe and seems like... well your honour... a scam?
let's play a game

Some So Some Crypto Bros and their Crypto Venture Capital Firms.... umm ok

For further insight, you can refer to this article from Foster Cove Capital, a Crypto Venture Capital (CVC or VC) Fund owned by one of the co-founders of Hair Dao (by the way, is that even legal? what's the legality behind that one?):
https://www.fostercovecapital.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Internet_to_DAO_Comparison_Article.pdf
The article from the crypto VC states that government institutions often operate with significant inefficiencies in capital usage: so they think that these organizations when it comes to research are wasting money. Hair Dao aims to address this inefficiency in the hair loss research sector, suggesting that the government’s role in funding and regulating could be ripe for disruption. They liken their potential impact to companies like SpaceX and Anduril. However, such comparisons seem overly ambitious and here's why.....

Regulations

SpaceX and Anduril operate within rigorous regulatory frameworks. SpaceX collaborates with NASA and complies with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to ensure safety and operational standards in space travel. Similarly, Anduril works closely with the Department of Defense, adhering to national security regulations. In stark contrast, Hair Dao, as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), exists in the largely unregulated cryptocurrency space. The article itself acknowledges that this lack of regulatory clarity could pose significant risks, especially concerning compliance with U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations. This could lead to serious legal and financial challenges for both investors and the project's founders. Also, it raises some questions regarding ethics and the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which we will get into now...
Funnily enough, the Foster Cove Capital PDF article states that that regulation would help the government tax and make money off of DAO technology. This is very dumb. Let me say this, asking for government regulation of DAOs does nothing but turn you into a typical company on the stock exchange. You are bound by how fast you are making money, and due to the Consumer Identification Program FEDERAL LAW, anyone using DAOs and Cryptos must be identified by the government as a means of providing security to these trades.
The next crypto venture capital is owned by the other co-founder. ughhh lets see how fishy this one is... https://www.bizantine.capital/about3
i see it.... all of it!!
Their latest 2021 Annual Letter is a masterclass in financial acrobatics, so much so that it leaves me wondering if they’ve uncovered a secret trading algorithm, or perhaps a genuine crystal ball, that even the most seasoned Wall Street veterans would envy.
To say that Bizantine Capital had a stellar 2021 would be an understatement. Their self-reported returns are not just high—they're fucking stratospheric.
In 2021 alone, Bizantine returned +331.58%, outshining Bitcoin's respectable +61.18% and absolutely dwarfed the S&P 500's +26.89%.
Since their inception in April 2019, they've boasted an astronomical +2,626.39% return. That’s over 26 times the initial capital in less than three years.
To further scrutinize Bizantine’s claims, let’s juxtapose their performance with insights from a more grounded source: the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) Working Paper on private equity and venture capital funds. This pretty much shows how Bizantine is probably, if i were to bet, lying their asses off.
https://www.nber.org/system/files/working_papers/w28109/w28109.pdf
For buyout funds, the research finds little evidence of performance persistence, especially post-2000. Funds that were in the top quartile in previous cycles don’t necessarily continue to outperform in subsequent ones. This finding challenges the idea that past success reliably predicts future results—a cornerstone of many investment strategies.
In stark contrast, Bizantine Capital seems to defy this logic, suggesting that they consistently outperform regardless of market conditions. And we've seen crypto rise and crash..and crash...and maybe rise again?? many times within the last 5 years...
Bizantine Capital claims an Average Daily Return of 0.59% and a Standard Deviation of 5.58%, painting a picture of a wild rollercoaster ride compared to the S&P 500’s relatively calm 0.07% average daily return and 0.69% standard deviation. So in other words.... As Bizantine’s returns swing dramatically day-to-day, the S&P 500’s fluctuations are much more subdued.
And given these wild swings, Bizantine’s Sharpe Ratio stands at an impressive 2.000. The Sharpe Ratio is a key measure that helps investors understand how much excess return they're receiving for the additional volatility they're enduring. It's pretty much telling us how well an investment compensates for the risk it takes on. A higher Sharpe Ratio indicates better risk-adjusted returns, meaning the fund earns more return per unit of risk.
But, Bizantine's high standard deviation of 5.58% suggests significant daily volatility, which is usually a red flag for investors because it's implying a greater uncertainty and risk in the fund's returns. This high level of volatility means investors could experience substantial ups and downs. To me, this seems very inconsistent given their high Sharpe Ratio indicates they're generating VERY strong returns relative to this risk, Again, this is highly unusual and especially when this performance is done time and time again.
Zzzzz
Okay, enough with the finance talk...for now......

Hair Dao Researcher Involved with Group Buying and Illegal Human Experiments: The use of phase 1 chemotherapy drugs

Recently, Hair Dao found itself in controversial waters. One of their lead community researchers, known as "Jumpman," orchestrated an unofficial human clinical trial where individuals were persuaded to use phase 1 chemotherapy drugs among other compounds include on that the researcher claimed to have designed himself saying that it could potentially regrow hair on a bald scalp (according to some people in this groupbuy he literally just designed it and never tested it on a cell or any animal) to regrow hair.
These drugs, unapproved and largely untested in humans, were obtained through a "group buying" scheme. This method involved large groups of people pooling funds to purchase something from an entity: in this case drugs/chemicals from JennysChems, a Chinese company. Participants committed to buying specific drugs, which were then manufactured and shipped to them. So people essentially payed to be apart of a clinical trial that offered them no safety monitoring mechanisms and -...

Hair Loss Community Member using chemotherapy drugs to "regenerate" hair follicles. Dangerous and irresponsible. Bad science.

Hair Dao, wtf are you doing?

Well, there are allegations that one of the co-founders contemplated offering payments for blood work and "reimbursements" to those purchasing drugs through Jumpman’s chemotherapy group buy. Below are screenshots from their Discord server and Jumpman's Telegram, revealing these disturbing discussions. Essentially, Jumpman tells these people, many of who claim to have Post Finasteride Syndrome or distrusting of "Big Pharma" that by particpating in this groupbuy and using these chems, Hair Dao would be one step closer to the cure. Jumpman then encourages these people to upload their bio metric data to Hair Dao's "secure patient platform"
One of the co-founders (andy1) seemingly supporting of this group buying. Also, wtf? dsmo? that increases the absorption of WHATEVER you put on your skin...even chemotherapy drugs.....
real screenshot...
Jumpman states that Hair Dao will pay for the blood work for those that participate in the group buying
Perhaps this is the TM community that Andy1, a co-founder of Hair Dao, was talking about?
This is worrying because we essentially have Hair Dao co-founders and team researchers running an illegal human clinical trial. I wonder where their ethic ID/code is for this clinical trial? Well who cares... it can't possibly get any wors--
Well, Jumpman seems to be collaborating with an actual University Researcher from the Imperial College London named Dr. Claire Higgins. I say seems to because that's what Hair Dao states on their twitter
https://archive.ph/KVJgY
So, let me get this straight...this guy who was organizing an illegal human clinical trial is apparently collaborating with a University researcher along with that university's research department? Why would Dr. Claire Higgins, a briliant researcher, be associated with such a thing? It seems that she is working with Hair Dao on something and Jumpman has something to do with it, right? She must know who Jumpman is and what he's about? Right? RIGHT??
Well...probably not? In this video, a youtuber who had been dealing with harassment from members of Hair Dao's research team and discord server exposes that Dr. Claire Higgins denies knowing who Jumpman is (and she does this rather aggressively at that). https://youtu.be/n6LvAhxWJ64?si=AjEK5qrKHlWUq8wm&t=213 at 3:42
So, someone here is lying of over exaggerating something...and in either case is could defiantly count as a securities violation (US SEC).

So, where does this leave you?

Well... Just don't fall for their schemes. Honestly, think to yourself, what would the funding of hair loss research require CRYPTO at all? The most transparent thing these crypto bros could do would...well not make a crypto? And also register as a non-profit. In the United States, non-profits are required to state to the public on how they get their funds and use it. Simple. Shut. Done. You should not need to use crypto for this operation when you have websites like GoFundMe that can facilitate crowd funding.
They've been making some hardcore attempts to spread this crypto all over YouTube and members of their discord server have taken to harassing youtubers to support the crypto project. Don't be fooled by their donations and affiliations with some actual university researchers and doctors: this could very well be a case of credibility laundering, where, the association with legitimate figures somehow furthers the ethos of an individual/person. After all, do you remember Theranos? https://youtu.be/jIqF95qiQSs?si=Cv9hK-DcuOY1ypmg
Members of this server have even doxxed and created fake screenshots of youtubers all as a means to gain favor to push this project. Who would ever take this skibidi crypto serious?

2024.06.09 12:20 Little_Acanthaceae87 Research study: "A review of brain circuitries involved in stuttering" (2014)

PDF document: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4233907/pdf/fnhum-08-00884.pdf

Abstract

Stuttering has been the subject of much research, nevertheless its etiology remains incompletely understood. This article presents a critical review of the literature on stuttering, with particular reference to the role of the basal ganglia (BG). Neuroimaging and lesion studies of developmental and acquired stuttering, as well as pharmacological and genetic studies are discussed. Evidence of structural and functional changes in the BG in those who stutter indicates that this motor speech disorder is due, at least in part, to abnormal BG cues for the initiation and termination of articulatory movements. Studies discussed provide evidence of a dysfunctional hyperdopaminergic state of the thalamocortical pathways underlying speech motor control in stuttering. Evidence that stuttering can improve, worsen or recur following deep brain stimulation for other indications is presented in order to emphasize the role of BG in stuttering. Further research is needed to fully elucidate the pathophysiology of this speech disorder, which is associated with significant social isolation.

Broader Implications
The Basal Ganglia and Speech Pathways in Stuttering
The basal ganglia (BG) are crucial in selecting and disinhibiting voluntary motor programs while inhibiting competing ones, thereby playing a central role in voluntary movements without generating them. Dysfunction in the BG can lead to movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease (PD), dystonia, and tremor. Evidence suggests that stuttering may also be a BG-related movement disorder, with altered connectivity in the basal ganglia-thalamo-cortical circuit seen in people who stutter (PWS).
Speech Pathways and BG Dysfunction
Jürgens (2002) identified a cerebello-thalamo-cortical pathway critical for normal speech production. Lesions in the cerebellum and ventrolateral thalamus, which projects to Broca’s area and the supplementary motor area (SMA), can severely affect speech. Functional studies show increased activity in these regions during speech tasks, suggesting their involvement in speech production. Alm (2004) proposed that PWS have dysfunction in the BG-cortical pathway, leading to compensatory overactivation of the cerebellar-cortical route, supported by evidence of cerebellar overactivity in stutterers.
Role of BG in Dysfluent Speech
Studies indicate that increased neural activation in the putamen and caudate nuclei correlates with stuttering severity. For example, event-related fMRI studies show increased putamen activation following fluency-inducing therapy, but this activation diminishes over time. Giraud et al. (2008) found a correlation between stuttering severity and BG activity before therapy, which was lost post-therapy, suggesting BG involvement in stuttering. Their model suggests structural abnormalities affecting information flow from Broca’s area to the motor cortex may cause BG dysfunction, similar to mechanisms in PD and dystonia.
Stuttering and Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)
DBS, used for BG motor disorders like PD and dystonia, provides insights into BG’s role in stuttering. Cases report both improvement and worsening of stuttering post-DBS surgery. For example:
These cases highlight that DBS can modulate speech pathways in the BG, affecting stuttering severity variably. Some report improvement with specific stimulation parameters, while others note new onset stuttering or worsening of existing stuttering post-DBS, often depending on the target region and individual patient history.
In conclusion, stuttering appears closely linked to BG dysfunction, with evidence from structural and functional studies, similarities with BG-related movement disorders, and variable effects of DBS on stuttering symptoms. Understanding these pathways may guide future therapeutic strategies for stuttering.

Neuroimaging of Glucose and Dopamine Neural Metabolism in Stuttering

Glucose Metabolic Rates
State-Dependent Changes
Permanent and Reversible Hypometabolism
Dopamine Synthesis
Focal Segmental Dystonia

Brain Imaging Studies

Specific Activation Patterns

CONCLUSION

The etiology and pathophysiology of stuttering remain poorly. Stuttering is a disorder associated with significant psychological burden and social stigma, and work toward achieving successful therapies has been focusing on its psychological or psychodynamic causes. The increased recognition of a structural or functional neurological cause can render stuttering potentially amenable to surgical or medical intervention. Further research on the cortical and subcortical anatomical and functional changes in stuttering is needed. In this study, we have reviewed evidence demonstrating that dysfunction of the BG and of their cortical targets are a likely pathomechanism underlying stuttering.
