2024.06.09 17:05 Hip_Hip_Hipporay ChatGPT generated some Malcolm scripts

Uploaded 13 MITM scripts. Asked it to write two scripts: one with a prompt from me and one without.
My prompt:
Reese is a billionaire. Having not showered for a month in an attempt to force a girl to dump him, medical science discovered a cure for cancer inside the mould on his body.
He enjoys being petty and lauding his new success over everyone. Malcolm is assistant manager at Lucky Aide; Craig is his boss. Dewey has some success in music. Francis and Piama have many kids. One was killed after the rocket-powered stroller Malcolm built went haywire and crashed into Lucky aide. Hal is Reese's dogsbody at the mansion.
**INT. REESE'S MANSION - DAY**
*The mansion is lavish, but the family’s interactions bring out an absurd contrast. The living room is enormous, filled with expensive decor, and an oversized portrait of Reese hangs on the wall. Lois, now in her early 60s, is sitting on an opulent couch, knitting furiously. Hal, also in his early 60s, is polishing a chandelier awkwardly, occasionally muttering to himself.*
**LOIS**
Hal, if that chandelier sparkles any more, it’s going to blind someone.
**HAL**
(balancing on a ladder)
It’s Reese’s orders, Lois. He wants everything to shine, especially his ego.
*The door opens and Dewey, now 33 and dressed in a casual yet stylish outfit, walks in with a guitar case slung over his shoulder.*
DEWEY
Hey Mom, Dad. Just got back from my latest gig. The crowd actually knew the words to my songs this time.
LOIS
(smiling)
That's wonderful, Dewey. Maybe someday they'll spell your name right on the marquee.
HAL
(teasing)
Don't get your hopes up too high, son. Remember when they called you "Dewey Decimal"?
DEWEY
(sighing)
Yeah, that was a low point.
*Reese, 38, enters, wearing an outlandish designer suit. He’s holding a champagne glass and has an obnoxiously smug grin.*
**REESE**
Ah, the smell of success... and the faint scent of cancer-curing mold. How’s everyone doing in my mansion today?
**DEWEY**
(sighs)
We’re fine, Reese.
*Malcolm, 37, enters wearing a disheveled Lucky Aide uniform, looking defeated.*
**MALCOLM**
Assistant Manager Malcolm reporting for duty. Another day of stacking shelves and avoiding Craig’s motivational speeches.
**CRAIG (O.S.)**
(excitedly)
Malcolm, you're late! There are sales figures to review!
**CRAIG**
(enters, looking chipper)
Malcolm, you need to embody the Lucky Aide spirit! Which, coincidentally, is just like your soul – non-existent!
**MALCOLM**
(deadpan)
Good morning to you too, Craig.
*Francis, 42, enters with Piama, 39, followed by a gaggle of children. They look tired but resilient.*
**FRANCIS**
Hey everyone, the gang’s all here. I barely managed to wrangle the kids into the minivan without losing one.
**PIAMA**
(holding a baby)
Francis, we did lose one. Remember? Little Jamie.
**FRANCIS**
(clearly struggling)
Oh right, how could I forget. Thanks for the rocket-powered stroller, Malcolm.
**MALCOLM**
(muttering)
I was just trying to help...
**REESE**
(laughing)
That’s right! Malcolm’s bright idea to save energy by rocketing Jamie around. Talk about a crash course in parenting.
*Hal finishes polishing and descends the ladder, his back creaking audibly.*
**HAL**
(to Reese)
Is there anything else you need, Master Reese?
**REESE**
(smirking)
Just your dignity, Dad. Oh wait, I already have that hanging on the wall.
*He points to a framed piece of paper that says "Hal’s Dignity" in elaborate calligraphy. Francis tries to gather his children, who are running around the room causing chaos.*
**FRANCIS**
Kids, gather round! Uncle Reese has some... interesting stories about how not to become a complete sociopath.
**REESE**
(grinning)
Careful, Francis, or I might just buy your children and send them to a Swiss boarding school.
*Lois looks up from her knitting, her expression stern.*
**LOIS**
Reese, why don’t you show a little humility?
**REESE**
(mockingly)
Humility? That’s rich coming from the woman who terrorized us all with her iron fist. Remember, Mom, you raised me to be this way.
*Piama finally speaks up, trying to maintain some normalcy.*
**PIAMA**
Reese, why don’t you use some of your money to help Francis and me find a place of our own? This mansion is... a bit much.
**REESE**
(smirking)
Why would I do that? Watching you all squirm is the best entertainment my money can buy. Plus, it keeps you all under my thumb.
*The family looks at each other, a mix of resignation and frustration. Malcolm, trying to muster some hope, speaks up.*
**MALCOLM**
You know, Reese, money can’t buy happiness.
**REESE**
(grinning wider)
No, but it can buy a rocket-powered stroller. Right, Malcolm?
*The family doesn’t laugh. They just continue with their tasks, each of them silently dealing with their own absurd reality.*
REESE Oh, come on. You all are acting like I haven't earned this. Remember when I stopped showering for a month to force my girlfriend to dump me, and medical science found a cancer-curing mold on my body? Yeah, when you become a billionaire by accident, then we can talk about humility and charity.
LOIS (grimly) I still can't believe that's what made you rich. It's like the universe played a cruel joke on us.
HAL (to himself) And I’m the punchline...
Francis tries to calm down one of his screaming kids, who is running around the room with a toy sword.
FRANCIS (to the kid) Hey, buddy, maybe Uncle Reese can buy you a real sword next time.
PIAMA Francis, don't encourage him. The last thing we need is Reese arming the children.
REESE (laughing) Now there's an idea. A fully armed and operational battle station... of children.
Lois, unable to take it anymore, stands up and faces Reese directly.
LOIS Reese, this isn't funny. You're sitting on all this money, while the rest of us are struggling. Have a heart, for once in your life.
REESE (mock sympathy) Oh, I’m sorry, Mom. Did you want a loan? Maybe I could throw you a few million to ease your pain?
DEWEY (flatly) How generous of you, Reese. Maybe after you’re done pretending to care, you could actually do something helpful.
REESE (smirking) Ah, Dewey, always the moral compass. How’s that working out for you in the real world?
Malcolm finally speaks up, tired of Reese's constant gloating.
MALCOLM You know what, Reese? Enjoy it while it lasts. Because at the end of the day, you’re just as miserable as the rest of us. Money can’t fix everything.
REESE (leaning forward) Maybe not, but it sure makes it a hell of a lot more fun.
The family continues their tasks in silence, each of them dealing with their absurd lives. The camera pulls back, showing the entire family together, yet worlds apart.
NARRATOR (MALCOLM) (TC) And there it is. Twenty years later, and we’re still stuck in this crazy dynamic. But hey, at least we’re in it together. Even if together means living under the reign of King Reese.
Fade out as the family continues to interact, each dealing with their bizarre lives.
END.
This is the script ChatGPT generated with no prompts from me.
INT. FAMILY LIVING ROOM - DAY
The living room looks lived-in and somewhat cluttered, but there's an air of warmth. Lois, now in her early 70s, sits on the couch, reading a book. Hal, in his early 70s, is trying to fix a broken lamp.
LOIS Hal, if that lamp could talk, it would ask you to stop torturing it.
HAL (holding wires) I'm almost there, Lois. Just a few more tweaks...
The door bursts open, and in walks Dewey, now 33. He's a music teacher with a calm demeanor but still carries a playful spirit.
DEWEY Guess who just composed an entire symphony based on cat meows?
LOIS (smiling) Let me guess, you?
DEWEY Absolutely. And I think the school might actually play it this time.
Reese, 38, enters, wearing a police uniform. He's matured but still has a mischievous glint in his eye.
REESE Hey, Dewey, did you finally convince them to give you real instruments?
DEWEY You'd be surprised how versatile a classroom full of recorders can be.
Malcolm, 37, walks in with a briefcase. He looks every bit the successful professional but carries the weight of his responsibilities.
MALCOLM (deep sigh) Tough day at the office.
HAL You know, I still don’t understand why you didn’t go for that cushy research job in Switzerland.
MALCOLM It’s called ambition, Dad. Plus, the world needs policymakers who understand quantum physics.
LOIS And your father needs someone who understands how to fix a lamp.
MALCOLM (laughing) Let's call an electrician before Dad electrocutes himself.
Francis, now 42, enters with his wife Piama, 39. Francis looks rugged and has clearly embraced his life on the ranch.
FRANCIS Hey, family! Guess who wrangled two wild horses this morning?
PIAMA (smiling) And then tried to convince them to wear cowboy hats.
HAL Francis, you always did know how to talk to animals.
FRANCIS Too bad it doesn’t work on my kids.
Jamie, now 22, enters, holding a baby. He’s grown into a responsible young man, taking after both Lois and Hal in different ways.
JAMIE Mom, Dad, everyone, meet little Lois.
LOIS (teary-eyed) You named her after me?
JAMIE Of course. We wanted her to have a strong name.
The family gathers around the baby, cooing and fussing over her. The doorbell rings, and Reese opens it to reveal Craig, in his late 60s, holding a cake.
CRAIG I heard there’s a family reunion and thought I’d crash the party with cake!
LOIS (sighs) Come on in, Craig. You’re practically family at this point.
CRAIG (placing the cake on the table) I’m honored. So, who wants to hear about my new job at the library?
MALCOLM (smirking) As long as it doesn’t involve you dressing up as a book.
CRAIG Oh, Malcolm, you wound me.
The family laughs, and the camera pulls back, showing the entire family together, enjoying the moment.
NARRATOR (MALCOLM) (TC) Twenty years later, and we're still as chaotic as ever. But I wouldn’t trade this crazy family for anything. Well, maybe for a Nobel Prize... but then again, probably not.
Fade out as the family continues to chat and laugh.
END.

2024.06.09 17:02 Particular_Age_4655 Not sure how I’m gonna live with myself after I get out.

Mornin ladies and gents,
I’m no one special, I barely made it out of high school and genuinely thought the corps would be where I found my purpose in life. It’s not, maybe it could’ve been and I’m just not the right person for it. I’ve got less than a year left of my enlistment and it’s brought about some self-reflection on how I’ve spent my time in. I won’t lie; I’m a shitbag and no, I don’t wear it like some sort of badge of honor. I’ve never excelled at anything within the corps MOS or Greenside. I’ve fucked myself over so much that no one will take me seriously. Hell, most of the time I feel like me getting my EGA was just some big fluke and somebody should have sent me home before I started. 4 years and I still can’t put my finger on the why I wasted my, and other people’s time being essentially a shame to this organization that I want to believe in. Apathy? Depression? Plain laziness? All of the above maybe? I’ve spent a stupid amount of time trying to figure where my malfunction is and I still don’t know. I don’t think my command is that bad, nor can I say most of my direct leadership is toxic. So it must be me, right? I’ve been told it’s just first enlistment BS but I doubt it would get better with time.
I don’t want to reenlist, I doubt I could even if I wanted to. I KNOW I want to just go home and get to figuring out what to do with the rest of my life. I guess my mistake is assuming the corps would consume my world the way I thought it would. Don’t get me wrong, I love this gun club. It brought me structure and taught me lessons that I sorely needed as a younger man, and of course I’ve made some wonderful connections with my fellow Marines throughout the years, connections I know I’ll look back on fondly far into the future. However I also know I brought nothing to the table, I was never the guy anyone needed at work. I am tolerated at best and avoided at worst. I became the one you warn your juniors not to be. You have all given me so much and I feel like I’ve let everything we stand for down.
I guess I just don’t want to feel like I signed away 5 years of my life to do nothing but be subpar.
Sorry for the pity party, I just don’t think I can bring this up with anyone else without being called a whiny bitch, and letting it fester with nowhere to go didn’t seem like a good course of action.

2024.06.09 16:58 g3thic [F4A][Literate] Attack on Titan!

I honestly feel like the AoT fandom has died lately, where are all the fans at? Seriously lol I haven’t heard anyone mention it in forever. But I’m still here! I’d love to do an AoT roleplay with somebody. The story is beautiful, even if it is quite gruesome and sad. There are still aspects that still shine out, one of the main reasons as to why it’ll always hold the place of favorite anime in my heart.
To start things off, a small introduction on my part. You can call me Hina or Hinata and I’m from Japan. I’m currently in the GMT+1 timezone temporarily for vacation but I usually am in the PST timezone. I’m mentioning this because sometimes time zones can matter or change the roleplay/roleplay friendships. I don’t mind what timezone you’re in, honestly, as long as we can talk things out without a longggg pause. I have been writing since I was 9 when I joined a writing campaign and a story competition held by my school which sparked the writeroleplayer in me and I am currently 22 years old. To finish my introduction off, I am someone who listens to goth music/vkei (i LOVE plastic tree. i’m so happy to see they got some of their popularity back on tiktok), I like to play and watch basketball, I watch anime and I am currently rewatching bluelock as a refresher, and.. I also play many video games.
Now onto things I’m looking for roleplay-wise. I mentioned something about Attack on Titan but I didn’t talk about anything really specific. That’s the thing. I don’t mind what story we do. It could be something modern AU with the original characters, another story of Mikasa and Eren, maybe even an OC with one of the characters in a more modern setting. It could also be something done in the original timeline. Going through the events of becoming a scout and the rumbling as two other oc’s or one OC and one original character. I’m honestly down for anything! Just hit me with it.
CHARACTERS
I tend to use character sheets to describe my character, these usually consist of names, background, and personality. More so on appearances, I prefer using animated or drawn references than real life people. I enjoy good enough references where I get the idea of how the character would look like.
The types of characters I write are either the lone wolf type that has some sad past which leads them to want to join someone for a redemption arc or the bubbly character who is the one that brings the mood up and is usually seen as trustworthy and of that kind.
I like all types of tropes, especially enemies to lovers or rivalry. I also really enjoy opposites attract as a whole from either opposite personality or something else they would be opposites in. Enemies to lovers takes my heart, though. I love seeing the characters go past the urge to ultimately hate each other and/or go past their usual way of disliking the others lineage or upcoming.
REQUIREMENT
I think this is my last paragraph on the roleplay. It’s the most important, at least. Requirements. All roleplay searches come with them. Or at least that’s what I heard! But don’t fret, there isn’t much.
I’ve seen this as one of the most used requirements, and I agree with it. As someone who’s first language wasn’t English, I understand that you may not be great at it. But please, I do require a partner that at least has proper use of grammar and punctuation. You don’t even have to use big words or anything, just at least know where to put your periods and the placement of your words.
My second requirement is for you to be LITERATE! Please. I’m a big writer, I tend to ramble on and tend to write more than what I thought I would. (like i’m doing right now) I write multiple paragraphs from the starter until the scene relaxes. I also understand that sometimes writing big blocks of words every response is tiring or boring so I don’t expect it all the time, at least after the starter has been made and in more important scenes. Dialogue also cuts my replies shorter.
Please please please be polite in OOC! We may just be role playing together but kindness goes all ways. If we do include OOC, I enjoy talking about many things. My day, movies, games, funny moments and stories, all of that!
I think that’s the end to this wonderful journey of an ad about my search. I hope you are still here, fellow writer! I would LOVE it if you reached out to me! This wasn’t all for nothing, right!
But don’t leave yet! I do have a passcode. I know this was a jumble of words and rambling but I still have to put one in. I heard that there’s a lot of people on here that don’t read things fully and miss out on rules or information! But.. Just because you read through this all, I’ll gladly give you options on the passcode! Also please put in an introduction of yourself! Don’t think “Oh maybe I shouldn’t bother this person with too much to read”! I like seeing big blocks.
PASSCODE:
What’s your dream country to travel to and why?
OR
Who’s your favorite TV show / Cartoon / Game / Anime character?
Feel free to pick both! Now, that’s all from me. Please don’t put your request as just “Wanna rp”!

2024.06.09 16:58 AsstonM My lifestyle is a content goldmine - need an expert’s help mining it!

On paper I have an absurdly great lifestyle for content creation, but I’ll be the first to say I’m out of my depth with social media strategy.
Rather than wasting time guessing and testing niches, I’d rather make a lot of money for myself and a manager by following their expertise.
I am committing to doing content creation full time to try and make it a career. I’d like to find a manager who has the expertise to squeeze every brand deal dollar out of my lifestyle from the jump. (I’m at 1,400 followers on IG @evelyn_martin, so essentially a clean slate).
MY LIFESTYLE:
I’m an attractive, 5’9, sample size 4, 30 year old single girl in Vancouver Canada.
I live in a stunning 2-story bachelorette pad loft with 18ft windows & 72 plants.
I throw 8-12 elaborately themed, high end house parties every single year.
I have been a brand ambassador / model for brands including Budweiser, Ducati, and johnnie Walker. Shot campaigns for them too.
I’m a trained photographer with full professional camera kit (Canon 5D Mark lll, R5, drone, steady cam, light kit, 70-200, 16-35, 24-70, 400 & more.). I’ve been to film school, and am a fluent user of the adobe creative suite

2024.06.09 16:53 No_Room2861 I quit drinking a year ago...now I'm bored.

I quit drinking more than a year ago. I've been drinking and partying regularly since I was 15. I have had some really really fun and interesting times. Created memories, traveled, met a lot of interesting people. Then a couple years ago I met my partner who does not drink and in recovery for more than 3 years. After meeting him, my drinking started to weigh on him.. So I decided to stop. I wanted to be healthier anyway. But now, a year later. I find myself CHRONICALLY bored. Nothing is fun any more. I have read like 9 books already this year. I don't have any friends that aren't his friends. I don't really know how to be social outside of drinking. I'm somewhat of a workaholic and realizing i'm so much more introverted that I would have ever admited a few years ago. Does anyone have a similar experience? I read things that say its ok to be bored and to find hobbies and go on walks. Which I do. But its so boring. I don't want to go back to school and try to be a millionaire. Money isn't that important to me, but I am struggling to find some kind of contentment. What is going on?! Is this life? Cooking, cleaning, working, petting cats, grocery shopping and binging TV shows? LIKE WTF!

2024.06.09 16:53 Accomplished-Cash746 Moral quandary

Greetings all. I’ve run into a morally tough problem.
Recently, the day of the total eclipse, my daily driver took a crap. She had over 400k miles on her so it was inevitable at this point.
Long story short, I lost my job due to lack of transportation. I live in a impoverished and dangerous area. Finding work was difficult with my background.
I enrolled in some schooling, and went back into car washing. I left the industry 5 years ago, just before covid. My schooling is in data analytics, codeing.
The wash company I was hired at needed a site manager and I fell into that position quickly. When I was hired, I just wanted to wipe cars and put some cash in my pocket while I did this data analytics course.
Anyways, I’ll mange the workload and earn my certificate. I structured my week to make it work. The company is in a transition period and there is ample opportunity for advancement with my previous experience and new skills I’ll be learning. They are old school and could use some guidance on moving into the future. I can help that without question.
My dilemma involves one of my employees. The previous manager hired a guy with a previous sex crime. He just got out like 9 months ago after doing 15years for his crime involving a minor. I don’t know the specifics, I haven’t looked.
My new bosses are not happy about this guy working there and are attempting to force him out. Only scheduling him one day a week, on the one day he needs off. They have confided in me their dislike of this guy. And in all honesty, his appearance is not desirable in a customer service environment.
Their background checks are laughable. They just go on public websites to search a guy up and see what pops. That why my background came clear. My cases are 30 years old now. I’ve been removed from all this public directories.
I pulled dude aside and basically told home I’d do my best to get him hours and whatnot. Said I’d go to bat for him when I could.
It’s difficult. They are unaware of my history, and honestly, I’d like to keep it that way if at all possible. But I don’t want to contribute to this guy’s struggles. I know that position. Hell I’ve been in it recently. But I can’t be too obvious in my support of him otherwise I’ll draw negative attention my way.
The pay bump I just got is significant enough that I don’t want to lose it if I could avoid that. I’m a single dad. My daughter is an adult now but she still at home. She works and contributes to the household, she isn’t ready for life on her own yet. My parents have both he kicked me to the curb in my youth, I refuse to do that to my kid.
My loyalty is to her. I feel real shitty participating in the discrimination against a fellow rso. I’m gonna do my best for him, but I can’t jeopardize my position and future as well.
I told dude I’d give him a rockstar reference if he found a different job. And I’ll get him into the wash as much as I can. Still feels shitty.

2024.06.09 16:50 kilwil Should I install a third-party OS?

Hey y’all! My new 4-bay pro just arrived yesterday. This is my first NAS, and I’m a little confused about OS. I’ve heard a lot of people talk about TrueNAS and Unraid, but it seems to me that the default OS is fully functional (granted I’ve only spent about an hour messing around on it).
That being said, I do have some security concerns. I’d be interested in considering a third party option, but I’m a little lost, and I don’t really know what’s best.
I very much like the convenience of the Ugreen phone app, is there similar functionality in other options? If so, how difficult is it to install a third party OS? What are the advantages / disadvantages?
Again, I’m very new to this whole thing, so I apologize if these questions are a little dumb.
For context, I’m planning to use the NAS mainly for family data storage (photos/videos), and I’m also interested in looking into something like Plex later on and ripping music/video. I’d like to be able to upload and retrieve data from my phone.

2024.06.09 16:49 stxrryfay13 Is clothing style something essential to fitting in here?

Hi everyone,
For some context I am a foreign born fully Japanese person who grew up overseas- I lived the first 19 years of my life in a Western country. I only came to Japan for maximum 4 week holidays during my life, but this year I’ve come to Japan to study Japanese at a language school. Since my parents are Japanese I can speak well but my reading and writing is atrocious. I have always been rather uninterested in fashion and my appearance; I do want to dress nicely and have nice clothes, of course, but actually doing these things I don’t really engage in, I’m just not really that type of person. By no means however, would i consider myself shabby, unmaintained or unclean; I still wear a bit of makeup and wear good quality clothes but without adhering to a particular style; I definitely chose comfort over fashion. But I would still consider myself presentable. I am here to study, not to make myself look better. I would definitely prefer to put more time energy and money into learning and cultivating my mind rather than my appearance.
Recently, my cousin wants me to have an image change since this is my study abroad year. He looks at photos of my other friends from Japanese language school from when we go out (they are all so beautiful and dress very trendy, and could be models) and says he wants them to help me dress and act better, and dress less nerdy. He says by the time I go home, “You’ll begin to wear clothes like that.” I know he just wants to help me but I’m quite surprised at how often he brings up this topic and also brings up wanting to take me to the hairdresser (i wear my hair in a ponytail every day). My foreigner friend from class also says I should wear nicer clothes when we go out - “so we can take photos”, or “please don’t wear what you wear to school on Saturday.” I find these comments rather hurtful and i find them largely absent in western culture. Side note- These comments are also coupled and compounded by my cultural outsiderness, I have been told by the friend that I am not Japanese, or “I can’t believe you are Japanese” when I do not know a famous food or shop. Additionally my lack of photography skills that are suited for social media sites such as instagram also does not help in me fitting in, as the same friend told me, “what are these pictures, nobody takes pictures like that,” or “your phone (iPhone 12) is too old.”
Should I really pay more attention to my style and buy more fashionable and on trend clothes and dress better? Is it essential for fitting in in this society?
Thanks everyone would appreciate any help.

2024.06.09 16:48 cocosmoski Decibel outdoor 2024 - questions from a first timer!

Hoi allemaal 👋 I am going to be in the Netherlands for the whole month of August because I simply love your music scene. I used to live there years ago but now I live back in the UK (sad times). I’m going for different events and festivals but most are techno ones (Dekmantel & Paradigm) as I’m a big techno enthusiast. I have recently started liking harder styles of music and have always wanted to go to a hardstyle festival. The Dutch do it best.
I absolutely love hardcore and I know decibel has a few hardcore, industrial and hard techno stages. So this is more me. I love hardcore and everything about PRSPCT recordings and old school gabber. I also like millennium hardstyle and older hardstyle but uptempo isn’t my scene (alas I’d like to see it at a festival!).
I’m going completely alone and I’m also a girl so a bit nervous about this. I am a bit clueless about the camping/hotel situation and I am not sure if I should just go for one or two days. Both days have good lineups that I think I would enjoy. But I do get tired pretty easy as I have chronic back pain and am a bit worried to stay alone or be over exhausted.
I guess I just want to hear from people who go to this festival. As someone who is more hardcore , which day would be better? Would you recommend this festival to me anyway?! And as for the sleeping , what are the different options that would be best for a solo traveller :)

2024.06.09 16:46 Battlesmith707 Dispossessed Homebrew Archetypes: Warden Prince, Cogsmith, Ranger, Alms Matron

So, having created my Runesmith Archetype as well as a Khazalid Runework mechanic, I'm going to build four more archetypes, each representing an aspect of Duardin society. It is strongly encouraged that you check out my Runesmith archetype, because at least two of these archetypes start with runes.
First we have the Warden Prince - a frontline fighter who also has some room to dabble in leadership or diplomacy skills.
Then there's the Cogsmith - a character with high crafting who is primarily focused on ranged damage using black powder weaponry, but also gets bonuses when operating war machines or artillery.
After that is the Ranger - a versatile class that specializes in stealth and ranged combat, but also has the tools needed to be a decent frontline fighter in a pinch.
Lastly there is the Alms Matron. The Alms Matron is a name I pulled from a novel called Chronicles of the Wanderer. From what I gather they're basically the Priestesses of Valaya. The Alms Matron is primarily a support class who can use Miracles - I've taken a bunch of thematic miracles from Alarielle, Grimnir, and Grungni, and reflavoured them around Valaya. She also has access to a number of skills and talents that may serve the party outside of combat.
All-in-all I feel like I've laid the groundwork to have a relatively balanced well-rounded party consisting of nothing but Dispossessed.
WARDEN PRINCE
Warden Kings are the rulers of the Dispossessed Clans, and like most Kings, they require heirs. A Warden Prince is the son of a Warden King. From a young age they are trained to fight and to lead, with the expectation that their father shall not live forever. However only one of these children - the eldest son - can take their father's throne. Which then raises the question of what the remainder will do. Some serve the new King as generals and advisors, while others are married off to prominent figures within the clan, or to different clans entirely.
Others become Soulbound.
Many young Dispossessed Princes (and Princesses) who find themselves low in the line of succession leap at the chance to join a Binding. It is an opportunity to earn glory for themselves and their clan without forever remaining in the shadow of their older siblings, and it is also a respectable way to avoid being assigned an unwanted marriage. It also provides a chance to travel the Mortal Realms and potentially even explore the lost Karaks - many Soulbound Warden Princes dream of the day they can say they were the first to set foot in their clan's ancestral home in over five centuries.
A Warden Prince is a trained and well-equipped fighter, who due to the length of Duardin lifespans may already have decades of experience under their belt. Not only can they fight, but they can also lead - having been raised with the expectation that they will play a commanding role in either the court or the armies of their father or one of their brothers. It is possible that a Warden Prince may even have experience leading Throngs into battle. Beyond that, Warden Princes are also royalty, which may prove to be a boon when interacting with the aristocracy of other factions. Thus they are a welcome addition to any Binding of Order.
While travelling with the Binding, a Warden Prince may insist that they explore any lost Karaks they discover if it does not interfere with the Binding's other obligations. The Prince may wish to either scout them out for possible reclamation, or recover lost treasures. The Prince may appear enthusiastic about this at first, but once they finally walk the empty halls they may find themselves becoming depressed, melancholy, or even angry as they are struck by the full reality of their people's fall from glory.

COGSMITH
The Ironweld Arsenal - the great union of Duardin and Human Engineering. As Engineers of the Ironweld Arsenal, Cogsmiths are vital to the Cities of Sigmar war machine. Working closely with their human counterparts, they design, build, maintain, and repair the machinery, vehicles, artillery, and firearms wielded by Sigmar's mortal armies.
It is perhaps little surprise then that many Cogsmiths are happy to become Soulbound. An extended lifespan aside and ample opportunity to test out their new inventions aside, they are also well-accustomed to working alongside and learning from other Order factions. The Cogsmiths for their part bring a lot to the table - they are expert tinkerers, able to help repair and even improve the weapons of their Binding. They are well-versed in war machines and vehicles, able to get more out of them than most. A Cogsmith is also a formidable combatant in their own right, possessing experience with a wide array of firearms and war marchines.

Ironweld Engineer
You are a member in good standing of the Ironweld Arsenal. Whenever you are operating a war machine, a vehicle, or a weapon mounted on a vehicle, and you are required to make a Ballistics Skill, you may choose to either gain double dice from your Training in Ballistics Skill or substitute your Crafting Skill instead - whichever one is more likely to yield a better result.
In addition to this, as an Endeavour and with 50D worth of crafting materials you can spend one week tinkering with a handheld non-Aetheric firearm to improve it. With three attempts, if you pass an Extended Crafting Test of DN 5:8, you may apply one of the following upgrades:
  • Improved Sights: When using this firearm, the wielder's accuracy increases by one step.
  • Longer Barrel: The firearm's range is extended by one zone.
  • Double Barrel: The firearm now has a second barrel. When you make an attack with this weapon, you may either treat it as a dual-wielding attack and split your dice pool, or as a single attack that does 2 extra damage. Unfortunately, whatever weapon you apply this to also gains the Reload trait if it does not have it already.
  • Armour-Piercing: The firearm gains the Penetrating Trait.
  • Armour-Breaking: The firearm gains the Rend Trait.
Only two of these upgrades may be active on a weapon at a time. They are not permanent and can be changed.
DISPOSSESSED RANGER
When asked to describe the natural gifts of the Duardin, few would ever think to list stealth as one of them. But it is - if they put their mind to it. Rangers fulfill a vital niche in Duardin armies - that of scouts, skirmishers, infiltrators, and sharpshooters. In the days of the Khazalid Empire, it was the rangers who kept borders clear of Monsters, Greenskins, and Beastmen. It was the rangers who would not only warn settlements of incoming attack, but also harry and harass the foe by any means necessary while the Throngs were mustered. Even today long after the Khazalid Empire's fall, the Dispossessed Clans have find use for rangers. Indeed, it was the rangers who weathered the Fall the easiest, for they were accustomed to wandering without a home.
The life of a Ranger is that of a wanderer and outcast - spending weeks or even months traversing the wilds, and camping under the open stars. The only Duardin who would voluntarily seek out this life are either outcasts or free-spirits, independently-minded with a strong sense of wanderlust. It is a thankless job - their greatest deeds are committed far from any settlement or army, and therefore go unwitnessed. Most Duardin find their lifestyle and tactics disturbing, and thus, treat them with (usually unwaranted) suspicion.
It is little wonder then that a Ranger would be eager to become Soulbound. As a Soulbound, they are more likely to be working with people who have fewer qualms about their tactics, and may even appreciate their skillset. They can spend greater periods of time travelling, being deployed throughout the Mortal Realms in direct service to a higher power, with no obligation of a clan to return to. It is also possible that the Ranger may have a Criminal past they are attempting to escape from. Members of a Binding may also find a Ranger's company preferable to that of other Duardin, for Rangers tend to be less hidebound than most of their Dispossessed kin, while still retaining a strong sense of duty and integrity.

While adventuring in this terrain, you can double the dice you receive from Training in Stealth. As a week-long Endeavour you can spend 50D to change the dye.
ALMS MATRON
Little is known about the Alms Matrons - also known as the Priestesses of Valaya, Duardin Ancestor Goddess of Hearth and Home. The birth rate of Duardin females was already low to begin with, and most Dispossessed Clans are fiercely protective of their women as a result. Even more confounding is the worship of the dead goddess Valaya. Despite all this, Priestesses of Valaya are an integral part of Dispossessed society - primarily serving as healers and mediators. They wield immense influence over the internal politics of their clans.
It is not impossible that, in less hidebound clans, Duardin of other genders may come to serve Valaya in the same capacity. But it would be regarded as unusual.
Valaya's fate remains a mystery. Some say she is dead, others say she is in hiding. Some say she died during the Great Betrayal, others say her death came long before that - possibly during the last days of the World-That-Was. Some say she will return, as the Fyreslayers believe Grimnir will, while others have given up any hope of this. In either case, it takes far more than the death of their God to make a Duardin abandon their faith.
Additional puzzlement comes in the fact that some Alms Matrons have been known to invoke Miracles of their goddess. Scholars can only speculate as to why this is - perhaps it is due to the power of their faith, or maybe Valaya does still exist in some form. Humans and Aelven scholars have also put forward the idea that perhaps Alarielle or Grungni are behind this.
It is exceedingly rare for an Alms Matron to become a Soulbound, primarily because it is difficult to convince a servant of Hearth and Home to leave both of those things behind. But it can happen, especially if there are other Duardin in the Binding or the Binding's goals align with the Clan's. Though not well-suited to direct combat, Alms Matrons can serve their Bindings in other useful ways - as healers, diplomats, scholars, and priests.

MIRACLES OF VALAYA
(Note: These Miracles are ultimately just reflavoured Miracles of Grungni, Grimnir, and Alarielle from the Core Rulebook and Champions of Order.)
Hearth Queen's Balance
Target: 1
Range: Close
Duration: Instant
You can heal the wounds of another by taking on a portion of their suffering. A creature you touch can reduce the severity of one Wound. In exchange, you must take a Minor Wound or increase the severity of a Wound you already have.
Blessing of Valaya
Target: Zone
Range: Long
Duration: Permanent
You infuse the earth with the essence of life, causing plants in an area to grow and bloom. This can be used to bolster crops and revitalise a land tainted by Chaos. You can also choose to shape the growth into simple structures, such as growing winding roots and vines into a ladder or small bridge, or creating cover for you and your allies. In combat, these simple structures can form bridges between Zones, or can be used to give one Zone the Cover Trait
The plants and wildlife created by this Miracle are permanent but will decay naturally if left unattended in an inhospitable environment.
Wrath of the Hearthqueen
Cost: 1 Mettle
Target: Zone
Range: Medium
Duration: Sustained
You fill an area with uncomfortable searing heat, scalding and disorienting any who trespass there. Choose a Zone within Medium Range. That Zone gains the Difficult Terrain and Minor Hazard Traits. Additionally, creatures entering or starting their turn in the Zone must make a DN 6:1 Body (Might) Test or be Restrained until the start of their next turn. When you use this Miracle, you can choose to spend an additional Mettle to increase the Complexity of this Test by 1, to DN 6:2. On your turn, you can spend 1 Mettle as a Free Action to sustain this Miracle.
Heat of the Hearth
Target: Zone
Range: Self
Duration: Instant
A wave of heat washes over your zone, comforting your allies and scalding your foes. Make a 5:1 Soul (Devotion) test.
  • You and your allies within your zone recover one toughness per success.
  • Enemies within your zone suffer one damage per success.
You may spend a mettle to trigger both effets.
Find Strength in Her Absence
Target: 1
Range: Long
Duration: Sustained
Cost: 1 Mettle
Choose an allied target within long range. While the target has no allies in the same Zone, its Melee and Accuracy increase by two steps and it gains +2 Armour. If an ally enters the target’s Zone, this Miracle’s effect is suppressed until the ally leaves the Zone again. On your turn, you can spend 1 Mettle as a Free Action to sustain this Miracle.
Hearth Queen's Endurance
Target: Zone
Range: Self
Duration: Sustained
Make a DN 6:1 Soul (Devotion) Test. Whenever you or your allies within Short Range suffer Damage caused by fire or heat, reduce the Damage by 1 for each success. On your turn, you can spend 1 Mettle as a Free Action to sustain this Miracle.
Cauterise
Target: 1
Range: Close
Duration: Instant
Heat can be used as a tool of healing. Make a DN 4:1 Soul (Devotion) Test as you place a Holy Symbol of Valaya on a wounded ally. They recover Toughness equal to 1 plus the number of successes. When you use this Miracle, you can choose to spend a Mettle to add your Soul to the Toughness recovered.
Comforting Embers
Target: Allies within range
Range: Short
Duration: Sustained
Cost: 1 Mettle
You call forth a rain of glowing embers that fill your allies with warmth and encourage them to press on. When you use this Miracle, allies within range increase their Speed by one step and ignore Difficult Terrain until the beginning of your next turn, though they cannot Flee or Retreat until the Miracle ends. On your turn, you can spend 1 Mettle as a Free Action to sustain this Miracle.

You dont choose who thinks you are uglt or beautiful. You didn't choose who loves you, you don't choose who hates you, you don't choose who to love, you don't choose who to hate, you don't choose the code of morality, you don't choose to have wars, you don't choose to have peace. You didn't choose to be on this planet specifically, orbiting this sun, in this solar system, in this galaxy, in this universe, obeying these laws of physics.Everything that happens in the present has happened because of past events, and on the same principle, the future is already decided for us because of the same past. Your whole life is nothing but a "movie" you watch from your own body. A very limited point of view, and a very short movie (even though it feels like alot), relatively to the scales of time of the universe's existence. Your role is already "scripted." Even the fact that I'm writing this and that you are reading it is just part of the chain of events ruled by the principle of causality. Even if it will have an impact on you or not, it was already decided long long long time ago, infact, it was decided from the first moments after the start of the chain of events which will end in nothing. From nothing, to something, to nothing again. Everything that is "good" in our life can be traced to or summed up as some physical need of the body. We work in one job that other people need, to get money, so we can get from other people's work what we need. And what we need is to eat, drink, sleep, "piss", "shit", and multiply. If you do that successfully, you have other needs and desires to fulfill; otherwise, you'll experience boredom and a sense of lack of meaning. Therefore people paint, travel, dance, play games, create music, read, watch movies, have hobbies or do some other activities we do "with the body for the body." When fulfilling all these needs and desires are not enough, people tend to have the desire to create more humans, and those who choose to create another person are therefore deciding for the created person that the value of the "good" things (which are just material physical needs forced upon us) is more valued than the "bad" things that can happen (which are also forced upon us) like crimes, wars, diseases, injuries, anxiety, depression, sadness, rape, murder, race discrimination, theft, slavery, heat, cold, hunger, thirst, tiredness, nightmares, boredom, hate, confusion, old age, and so on and so on. As I said earlier, because of the principle of causality, each proportion of this "good" and "bad" in one's life is already decided ahead of one's birth, and the sense of agency and free will are nothing but a perception from the inside of our body. This perception of free will itself is a cause of a lot of harm to many people because we don't choose anything, but we do give all the credit and assign all the blame for people's actions they are not choosing.Another tragic fact about the universe and existence is that everything that is "good" for somebody is bad for somebody else. For example, you enjoy your steak, which means some cow lived and died for it. Or you enjoy some vegetable or fruit, so it comes from a field that used to be a habitat for some other animals, and people have to pick it for you in hard conditions. You enjoy a book, some tree and habitat was taken down for it. You enjoy the roads, somebody had to pave them, and so on and so on. Every animal existence, humans included, are living at the expense of other animals or even humans. If it is true that all we do is serve our bodily needs, then there is no other way but to say that: The thing we call life is nothing but slavery to our body. The saddest thing in my own opinion is that you don't choose when you'll die and how. Even if you want to die as much as one can, you'll face challenges and moral dilemmas and all your natural instincts that evolved through millions of years of successful reproduction will kick in to prevent you from the risks of causing yourself harm. Also, the process itself is a cause of suffering most of the time and is very scary to us by nature. If you want to bring another soul to existence because you want company, it's selfish. If you want them to fight your wars, it's selfish. If you want them to fulfill your dreams, it's selfish. If you want them to help you in old age, it's selfish. If you want them to take care of your wealth or businesses when you are gone, it's selfish. If you want to create a legacy, it's selfish. If you want to change the world, your world, it's selfish. If you want to serve your god, it's selfish. If you want to serve humanity, which you decided should be protected by your morals, it's selfish. There is no such thing as an unselfish act because every act is done to gain some good for ourselves in some way or another, including having kids. No matter what the reason was, the reason is still, at its core, a selfish one because the parents benefit from this birth in some way or another. To conclude: Existence is bad. Creating other people is selfish. Don't create other people. I'm open to a civilized discussion. If you call me traumatized, depressed, or a loser, I'm okay with that. Maybe its true. I wish everyone luck in this life. Luck is all we need.

2024.06.09 16:44 theverylasttime Societal breakdown?

Today I made the unfortunate decision to spend a small amount of time in Bristol city centre after my 4 year old had been to a birthday party. Walking through Broadmead we were greeted by multiple unconscious/sleeping people in the middle of the shopping pedestrianised area at 11am on a Sunday, and piles of rubbish everywhere. I know homelessness is a terrible situation, but some of these people look like they just didn't make it home last night. It was not a nice place to be.
Then a delightful old man with 3 teeth, hunched in a door way, motioned 'come here' to my 4 year old and then started hocking up christ knows what in his throat, and attempted to spit at her. "Daddy, why is he making that noise?". I didn't have a good answer. He then later did the same thing as we walked back, even though we stayed as far away from him as possible. Clearly this wasn't a one off for him.
Then man and and woman stomped past arm in arm, both with massive stinking joints hanging out of their mouths, with totally inappropriate music raging from a Bluetooth speaker. "Motherfucker" was every other word, not to mention racial slurs starting with the letter N. What sort of person walks around a public area forcing their musical on everyone else? Especially with such anti social lyrics. When did people lose all respect for everyone else? Then I had to say no thanks to 3 different religious lunatics trying to force their beliefs on me. What gives you the right to do that? Fuck off!
After getting our jobs done as soon as humanly possible, we got the hell out of there. On the drive home through Stokes Croft I saw a guy walk up to a wheelie bin, tear off a bit of cardboard, and promptly drop his trousers and underwear and start scooping shit out of his bare arse as multiple members of the public walk by. What the hell is going on? Without exaggeration, It's like a dystopian movie scene.
Think what you want about my life, class, privilege etc, that's not important here. This isn't how society is supposed to act in public. At no other point in history have people had less respect for themselves and each other. I felt uneasy and unsafe in a city centre in the middle of the day. People were unpredictable and aggressive. It's a sad state of affairs.

2024.06.09 16:43 bobr0sss 26 [F4M] UK/Europe just a gal looking for someone to muddle through life with

Hey! It’s been a while since I’ve done anything resembling dating, and regular dating apps are exhausting so shooting my shot on here! I have made posts in the past and although I’ve met and spoken with some great people, nothing more really came of it, and I am nothing if not a trier, and am hopeful my person is still out there somewhere!
I would prefer to exchange photos sooner rather than later, as although physical attraction isn’t the only important thing, I think it does play a part in the beginning. I wouldn’t say I have a type, but I do love a strong nose and some nice facial hair, neither are a deal breaker however.
~A bit about me:~
· I live by myself, I’m self-sufficient and very much enjoy my own company. However, I have noticed myself putting up a lot of barriers when it comes to getting close to people and have gotten into a bit of a rut, and hope by putting myself out there and meeting someone, I will feel more ready to try new things! I have a small group of friends and am introverted, but with familiar people my social battery depletes a lot slower.
· I work with teenagers who have additional needs in a mainstream secondary school, and I’m also currently half way through my training to become a qualified children’s therapist. I have an arts degree too but since studying counselling and therapy, I truly believe that it is my ‘calling’ (if such a thing exists). (Disclaimer: I am a naturally empathetic person and although I will always be there to listen and support, I am not going to therapize you!)
· In my freetime, I enjoy sewing and felting, and other crafty things. I also like walking my families dog and like most other humans, music and films are a big part of my life. I was very much an emo kid in school but this still plays a huge part in my life (I have a my chemical romance tattoo). More recently, I have been identifying myself as ‘indie trash’ (which is a term of endearment), but listen to all sorts! I’m not a gamer by any means but I do enjoy classic wii games and the sims.
~Possible turn offs:~
· I have been in therapy for the past 3 or so years, and will continue to be there whilst I am practicing as a therapist myself. I am very in touch with my feelings and emotional intelligence is something I really value in a partner.
· I am on the chubbier side and have tried all sorts of diets and regimes and I’m not interested in trying any more. I am actively trying to make healthier choices, but am well aware that this does not happen over night.
· I do have a few tattoos and hope to get more.
~A bit about you:~
· Aged 25- 34: this is a fairly set boundary for me, but I could maybe sway a year either way if you think we’d be a good couple!
· Somewhere in the UK or Europe, for ease of meeting and time zones etc.
· Kind and caring and able to make me laugh.
· Someone who has their life together and has interests and hobbies and a career of their own.
· Willing to voice call- I really like getting to hear people’s voices, it feels a lot more intimate.
~A bit about the future:~
· I’m not tied down to living anywhere in particular, so would be willing to relocate. However, given the nature of my work, it would most likely be in an English speaking country.
· Hopefully a dog!
· I don’t know if I’d like children. If I do end up a parent that’s cool, but if I never have kids, that’s cool with me too.
I told myself I wouldn’t write too much but here we are! There is obviously loads more I’d like to say but I think this is hopefully enough to go off! I am looking for something long term and ultimately to settle down, and I’d ask that if you’re just looking to have a quick fling, don’t message me. If you’ve made it this far, I’d love to hear from ya, especially what stood out in my post, and a fun fact or two about you :)

2024.06.09 16:39 pipilejacutinga Questioning my diagnosis - no social difficulties as a child

I got assessed for autism recently, and the doctor diagnosed me with autism. I'm definetly not neurotypical and I have a lot of autistic traits (stereotipies, special interests, early learning as a child, very easily overwhelmed by sensorial stimuli, crave routine), but I don't feel like I fit the difficulty in socialization criteria.
I was exceptionally social as a child, I would initiate conversation with everyone - adults (like friends of my parents) and children at school (I was friends with literally the whole class). I vividly remember actually liking those interactions and being very excited to talk to people. I never lacked friends and was never bullied.
The only signs that I imagine could maybe be considered to fit this criteria would only develop in adolescence, where even though I was friends with everyone and very outgoing, I'd always:
After I became an adult, I learned to deal with those things although they never went away. And I actually like parties some times if I can just dance performatically and not talk to anyone.
Now the questions I have are: - Can this social phobia be autism related even if it only started at adolescence? Couldn't it only be social phobia by itself? - My autism acessment only lasted 1h40. Is this enough? Should I maybe go after another doctor to be sure?

Learn words in sentences and phrases not individual. Watch TV shows and online streams.
Watch movies/series/YouTube channels in English, with English subtitles at first and then without

Reading and listening are important. Listen to English-speaking radio. You can get lots of them on the internet. Try different English-speaking countries. Watch TV shows if you can. Get them on YouTube or other similar sources. Look for programmes like news or documentaries. You have the pictures to help you understand. Language in them is more genuine than in a soap opera. Look for programmes or things to read that are of interest to you. So if you have a hobby or other interest, look for things in English that relate to them. You will learn English and maybe something about your interests.
Lately, I've just found out this site ( https://www.conversationexchange.com/ ) where you can chat/speak with native English speaker, it's really cool.
Always have a notebook with me to makes some notes or write down some new vocabulary or phrases.
And the most important thing … speaking practice. I can recommend you ,,speaky app.,, It’s really cool. Lot of weird people which do not distinguish this app from tinder there but I have found some decent people that I am able to speak a few times per week with. I can even say that after few months they even became my friends.
  • try to embed yourself in english
  • persistance and constistnecy, do it daily, event if it’s just one new word its always step forward,
  • find an english speaking friend and stay in touch with him frequently
  • exercise your speaking muscles everyday for 5 minutes
https://discord.com/invite/english in there you can find people to speak with anytime
I've learned English on my own through YouTube.
Step 1. Unsubscribe from all the channels in your native tongue.
Step 2. Subscribe to all English Learning Channels you can find.
Step 3. Watch Videos from the subscribed channels whenever you have occasion.
In 2-3 months you will understand most of the content.
If you're a complete beginner, read books meant for kids.
Honestly I'd suggest trying a couple of nature documentaries first. The speech will be very slow and give you lots of time to understand what you heard. If you're still struggling with that, then worry about kids shows.
I'd also suggest looking at podcasts for English beginners. They should deliberately speak slowly and not use complicated words
Some that come to mind easily are two tv shows called Sesame Street and Peppa Pig because of their simple language (aimed at native English kids learning English).
For listening practice you could try this free Whatsapp group with daily British English listening practice - https://chat.whatsapp.com/ELjBO3HwTMgK3xxqq3mq6d
Try Nonsense.com :) It is free and you get to watch movies.
This explanation is a little long so you can translate it to your native language by using www.Deepl.com
There are many ways you can learn English as a beginner. First, I think it's important to find out exactly what your level is. A great framework for understanding language level is called CEFR "The common European framework for Reference". There are many free tests online you can take to find out your level. I recommend the EFSET test. It's free and fast. Here is the link.https://www.efset.org
After you have found out what your level is, you need to learn the necessary content. You also need to manage your time expectations. Each level of the CEFR A1 A2 (beginner) B1 B2 (intermediate) C1 C2 (Advanced) takes a different amount of time. The A levels take about 100 hours each. The B levels take about 200 and the C levels take about 300 hours.
To complete a level you will need to improve 8 areas:
  1. vocabulary = Improve your vocabulary by buying an appropriate vocabulary book. Try to learn 20 new words each day. Download an SRS app (spaced repetition) to help you learn the vocabulary faster. e.g. Anki or Quizlet. Also, try to make or use mnemonics to remember what the words mean.
  2. grammar = Buy an appropriate grammar book (I recommend Grammar in Use by Murphy) Each CEFR level has about 200 grammar structures. First, study the structures and understand what they mean, then activate them and make sure you can use them all in conversation. To help with this, you can use my Youtube. I post grammar lessons every day (Yes, I know this is a shameless plug) https://www.youtube.com/learngrammarwithstuart
  3. conversation = Make sure to practice what you have learned by speaking to a native speaker. There are a lot of great apps like Italki and Cambly where you can practice this for a very low cost.
  4. pronunciation = Improve this by shadowing (listening and repeating what people say) e.g. the audio content from the reading textbook. You can also improve your pronunciation by watching Youtube pronunciation channels.
  5. conversation = Make sure to practice what you have learned by speaking to a native speaker. There are a lot of great apps like Italki and Cambly where you can practice this for a very low cost.)
  6. reading = Buy a graded reader and practice reading at your level. To see if the content is at your level, use the following rule. If you need to translate more than 10 words per page, the book you are reading is too hard.
  7. listening = Improve your listening by watching TV shows that use simple English. I recommend kids cartoons and sitcoms e.g. friends. There are also lots of great youtube channels that you can use.
  8. writing = Improve your writing by using an app like Hello Talk or a similar SNS. It allows you to easily practice writing and communicating with other English speakers and language learners.
I hope this helps and good luck with your studies.

2024.06.09 16:35 Sizzlewump Flamma FS21 Drum Looper - Software Issue

Flamma FS21 Drum Looper - Software Issue
It was a great FX pedal until I filled all 40 memory banks with loops. It is another story when trying to wrestle with the Flamma software on Windows. This is the part no one is talking about or demoing in tutorial videos. Maybe they all are DAW savants.
Ok, here's how it works for me: I connect the pedal via USB and power cables to my PC. Downloaded and installed the correct Windows driver software from the Flamma site. Here's the limited options available for it:
https://preview.redd.it/tra1hiyf1k5d1.png?width=1239&format=png&auto=webp&s=03cbc5c1c074ed761f82796234d474c58d42aa92
Looks simple enough, right? Well, what happened was, Flamma has auto-created a folder 'COMPUTER' in the programs folder for me with only 100 available memory banks. That made 2 problems for me. 1- limited storage banks; I plan on making many loops and saving them w/o using a DAW. 2- limited SSD storage; I don't want to have all of these media files cluttering up my local disk space; I want to save them on another storage drive. So, there is a folder button on the top right where you can browse to a new storage location. Great. Using that method I spent about 2 hours migrating the loops 1-by-1 from the pedal to my external drive. Also, be prepared if you try this: when exporting loops from the pedal, the drum machine settings are not retained. You will have to go in and take note of your settings for each memory bank. Also note, if you rename the .wav file during this process (from the storage device) or alter it in any way, the .wav becomes unusable and you get this nice error:
https://preview.redd.it/an0uohk93k5d1.png?width=381&format=png&auto=webp&s=cb2fa9c42560db970bea8925c4de1dafc01e42c5
I looked up the error online and the general consensus is, Windows Media Player is missing the proper codecs to load and play the .wav file. I'm assuming Flamma has baked in protections to make sure you are not able to separate their drum tracks from the device itself.
That's as far as I got. So I have 40 unusable .wav files on my SSD and I want to get these files exported in working order so I can clear the pedal and get back to creating music. Has anyone solved this issue? Please let me know if you got it to work for you and how you did that.
Thanks!
Note: After solving the above issues, I will want to learn how to import a loop file from my PC back onto the pedal. Hopefully it is an easier process. I'm interested to know your thoughts on this too.

2024.06.09 16:35 Minute_Ad_2540 from being ‘delulü teenager’ to Awakening, Self-Discovery and Finding Purpose

Currently, in my early 30s, juggling roles as a wife and mother while living on our own with my small family, I've encountered a reality shift in my perspective. It's as if I can now see my past and the people in my life without being triggered intensely, and I’m gradually figuring out why I ended up the way I am today.
Our marriage isn’t the typical ideal, dream wedding scenario that a mature, stable woman might envision. Instead, it evolved from a period of post-college socializing, working and partying, then fast fwd to the intimacy of a private wedding after becoming pregnant.
Reflecting on my teenage years, I recall the emotional support I lacked, particularly from my adoptive mother. Discovering her infidelity during my high school years made maintaining silence in our home (during crucial developmental stages) even more challenging.
I found myself becoming a people pleaser, seeking validation and acceptance from a certain group of friends at the expense of my own identity. Despite coming from a modest background with a hardworking father, I became increasingly reliant on social media validation, leading to a sense of delusion about my life.
I can’t help but reminisce about my inner child – before the cheating and abuse. I was always considered one of the top students, consistently maintaining good grades. Though good grades don’t necessarily equate to good mental health, I must admit those were the last core memories where I felt truly happy with myself and was honest with both myself and my family.
Back then, family reunions were genuine—not perfect, but happy. My cousins were my first circle of best friends, and relationships weren’t toxic or confusing. In short, there was strong family support.
It seems that life indeed involves trade-offs. Exchanging your true self and values for superficial and shallow things ultimately comes at a high cost. Genuine connections are lost and replaced with what your current life values attract. It’s like betraying yourself = self-sabotage.
However, as reality hit hard, I realized that true fulfillment cannot be found in superficial validation. Going through late realizations and tough lessons, I've come to understand that healing invisible wounds and finding purpose and maturity are the true anchors in life, even as friendships come and go (especially when it’s not true and genuine).
Contrary to popular belief, your 20s aren’t the only defining decade of your life. Many people find that life truly begins at 30, and it’s never too late to start over.
Turning 30 often brings a sense of clarity and purpose that might have been missing in your 20s. This decade is an opportunity to realign your life with what truly matters to you, using the lessons and experiences of your past as a foundation for a more fulfilling future. ✨
