2024.05.16 23:56 Training_Extent9440 Provide English-speaking Physiotherapy Service in Yokohama?

Hi, my friend is a physiotherapist from New Zealand. He recently quit from the clinic he used to work at, and wants to become independent. He is thinking about opening his own physiotherapy clinic targeting to people who look for English-speaking service.
In Yokohama, there seems to be many expats living there, and also not much competition yet. What do you all think? How much is the demand for English-speaking physiotherapy?

2024.05.16 23:32 Ok-Candle3810 Advice needed on kiwisaver USA Citizen in NZ permanently

I am a USA citizen living in New Zealand and have dual citizenship. I file taxes every year to the USA, but I don't know if my accountant is correctly doing them and filing my kiwisaver.
Does IRD send your kiwisaver amount to the IRS? How do they communicate with each other? Does anyone know?
I would like to stay compliant but also have a very simple filing as I work for the government and have spent my entire working life in New Zealand. I do not plan to leave, but also would like to keep my USA citizenship if needed.

Sneaky fees
I might be late to the party here but I just realized this and I’m very annoyed…I pay yearly for dashpass since I order delivery a lot and thought it was worth it. Silly me just noticed that while I save on delivery fees, the cost of the food ITSELF goes up when I choose delivery over pickup. So I’m barely saving anything! How is this even allowed??

2024.05.16 23:17 UKNZ87 Has New Zealand Rugby turned a corner?

This might seem an odd title for some non-kiwis, World Cup finalists, last years 7s champs and current female champs but Union has had a rough time here in the last 4-5 years. For me I think it hit the absolute worst point in 2022. Super Rugby until this year had been at its absolute worst, losing to Ireland, not many fans wanting Foster and not that many wanting Cane as captain. The problems were deeper though than just some bad loses. We saw a loss of interest in Rugby from fans and young kids. Grassroots numbers down, clubs losing player numbers etc etc. the other big story was the surge in support for Rugby League over here with the NZ Warriors having a good season last year. Media etc were hammering Union saying it was “dead”. In the last 12 months though some things have started to turn around. Firstly the World Cup wasn’t as bad as a lot had feared. After the France loss a lot of people here thought they would go out in the quarters. There was even some tongue in cheek talk about a group exit! Super Rugby has had its best year in a long time being much more competitive and a resurgence in Aussie sides. The past week we saw the highest crowd at a Highlanders game for 7 years and a very good crowd at Eden park for the Blues game. 18k for Highlanders might not sound that much, but if all 18k came from Dunedin it would be 14% of the whole town which puts it in perspective! There’s excitement here about Razor coming in and Cane has done the right thing to give up the captaincy which avoids the awkwardness of what happens with that. Also the NRL side the Warriors have reverted to type and slid back down the table giving a bit of an opening for the Blues in the city of Auckland. It’s just grass shoots of recovery but things feel a bit more positive here in the last 6 months or so. Thoughts?

2024.05.16 23:05 Less-Mess610 Etsy rugs from India

Hello! I dont buy from Etsy often, but I found a dupe of a rug that I want for more than half the price ($800 vs $2k). The Etsy seller is from India and has 4.8 stars with 800 reviews. Based on the reviews it sounds like the rugs are quality but I’m always skeptical. The seller claims it’s New Zealand wool and hand knotted. Does anyone have experience buying rugs from these type of sellers? How is the quality? The store is called floor and fabrics. Thanks!

2024.05.16 23:02 jaybbaby_1234 Christmas time ❄️☃️

Hi all, We (5 adults 31,32,36,37,66 and 1 child 4) are coming from New Zealand summer on 23 December to spend Christmas in NYC for a week (and then going to warmer weather). Always been a dream to have a winter Christmas (why I don't know - movies I guess). We have a Airbnb booked in North Bergen.
Any vague ideas on what to do would be marvelous
I only have one Must - 9/11 Memorial, and two nice to do's - Radio City Rockettes and a Ball game of some sort (love the look of the atmosphere of your guys sport).
Also any tips maybe for how to get from JFK to North Bergen 'cheaply' (lol) but also not difficultly (if that makes sense as we will have our niece and after 17 hours travel at 6pm kinda just wanna get to accommodation).
Thanks!!!! :)

2024.05.16 22:50 PelicanFrostyNips What will actually happen?

Many people, when discussing AI replacing jobs, mention something along the lines of “guess it will be time for a universal basic income.” But then I think… where would it come from?
Let’s say AI finally gets good enough to replace every job there is and all that is left are investors, shareholders, legislators, and elected decision makers.
UBI would have to come from taxes, but how are we going to tax people with no jobs? Companies use every trick in the book to avoid paying taxes, so who is left to be taxed?
Beyond not being able to feed a population, what if no tax revenue means no way to fund a military? Maintain infrastructure? How will entire nations continue to run? A government will have to spend its last tax dollars buying machines to be the military and maintain the infrastructure, instead of feeding people.
A company will never give money to anything that won’t give it back more. They never give, only invest. And if machines do absolutely everything for them, how are other humans an investment anymore? What is the ROI of feeding and housing people who can do nothing for you?
Passport/citizenship collecting is already a popular hobby of the rich who plan to flee when shit hits the fan. I hear Malta and New Zealand are popular “safe houses.”
For the people who have all the resources to feed us, what incentive will they even have to do so?
…we’re all going to be left to die, aren’t we?

2024.05.16 22:47 Zrepheas Playing on different servers?

So I play with my gf in America, and I'm in New Zealand. It looks like she is connecting to my server (Asia I assume) which leaves us with long queue times when we play together (I live on ET time so it's late night / early morning Asia). Is there a way for us to play on her Americas servers instead? She is the group leader always in case that was it

2024.05.16 21:38 pogboomn Urgent Visa Renewal - SWV and changing employers

Hi team, hoping to get some guidance on my visa situation as it has been quite stressful and my BRP ends soon so need to action my decision ASAP.
I'm a New Zealand citizen and currently on the YMV (BRP valid until 06/06/2024). My aim is to get ILR and my current employer has offered to sponsor me (3 years). They are in the process of applying for additional sponsor license allocations (please correct me of the proper term for this?) at the moment to sponsor me. They are going to pay for their sponsorship fees (roughly 1k or equivalent to paying for the YMV 1 year extension) but I will have to pay the additional costs of the SWV (roughly 4k pounds is what has been said).
I have a British partner so have also looked at the spousal visa option but would prefer to go the sponsorship route if possible.
My employer has advised me to extend my YMV for another year (at their expense) and then I would have been with my partner for 2 years and eligible for the spousal visa - which is the cheaper and good option, however I would still prefer to get on the SWV.
My main concern is the cost associated with the SWV and how that will impact me if I want to change employers as I understand this cost needs to be paid upfront. For example, if I pay the 4k pounds and get the sponsorship visa with my current employer and then get a job offer from a future employer - what cost will the future employer incur and will this hinder my chances of getting a job offer? I assume once I pay the 4k for 3 years IHS and application costs, this will carry over to my future employers sponsorship and they won't need to pay this again? If so, which costs will I or they incur for applying for new SWV with them?
Would be very grateful if I could get some advice ASAP on this as it is difficult to find online. I am wondering what your thoughts are on whether I should just go down the year YMV extension route and then spousal visa after that to save the hassle.
Essentially wanting to know if I go through with the SWV with current employer (and pay 4k of it), how financially tied down am I with them and what the process would be if I were to switch SWV to another employer with cost breakdown.
Thank you very much if you have read this far.
Cheers
