2024.05.15 10:12 juiceson Pre Round Discussion Thread: Round 10, 2024

Okay friends and South Australians, here is the beginning of Sir Doug Nicholls Round(s) for 2024, as several clubs get taken over by their First Nations counterparts, mainly Melbourne getting merged out of existence by Narrm, and we also come closer to the 1-year anniversary of Sam Durham sending Damien Hardwick over the edge in the Dreamtime game.
On that note, what a set of games that we can't see on the fixture bar because some people don't bother updating things:
Odd fact, if the Dees win it'll match their longest winning streak against the Eagles (4 wins, which they achieved from 1988-90)
THURSDAY

FRIDAY
Sydney Swans vs Carlton - SCG, 7:40pm AEST

Euro-Yroke vs Walyalup - Marvel Stadium, 7:30pm AEST

2024.05.15 10:11 The_Kimchi_Krab Lovely place, come dump your expertise! I have some questions and need of guidance, semi-experienced with using mods and loadouts but new to Xbox.

Hey all! I'll try and keep this short and concise so we can focus on discussion. I'm on Xbox One for reference, the slim :/. I started out modding Skyrim and FO4 on PS4, have a Viva New Vegas/Frontier PT going with FNV on a crappy laptop, so I am glad to enjoy external assets on a console! I have no programming experience but I'm relatively intelligent so I can handle difficult concepts. I have the desire to understand what you all know from experience and will do my best to interpret!
Feel free to reference the numbered topics or offer random widoms at leisure. And of course don't hesitate to share your favorite mods in extensive detail...no holds bar I wanna hear it all. I know how it goes with the Bethesda Modding scenes...we are at our best when we share our individual testing insights.
1.) 2GB storage and performance.] Do mods affect performance by volume? Can I max out my storage cap for mods without any consequences, beyond mods introducing their own specific issues? I've seen some say a full 2GB makes Boston unplayable...?
2.) Mods that break Boston/performance...what is previs and precombine? What's the watered down explanation? How can I get Boston and other dense areas running?
3.)Are there any major no-no's currently (barring the recent update chaos)? For example I read that some time ago it was a crash guarantee in Far Harbor if you used UFO4P, due to the headers, which I won't pretend to understand, but I gleaned that it was a mere oversight. Are there any other such well known deadly combos I should be aware of?
4.) How do you personally manage the small memory budget in forming your playthrough's game build? Mainstay mods such as Armorsmith, Dak's Attachments, America Rising 2 etc are massive sacrifices of space. Seems one has to choose which areas to mod that have greater impact. I hate an intensely Love Hate (😏) relationship with 4...so I intend to fully overhaul it. This is proving to be a difficult task especially if topic 1 is as I fear.
5.) Tricks for navigating Bethesda's mod UI? It doesn't display my library or my favorites in their entirety, something I hadn't noticed on PS ever before. This means I can't favorite something I already have downloaded that I want to remove but not lose forever, without using the search bar to manually favorite it. And then, my favorites aren't all accounted for in the fav list.

This is a mobile game that I lately downloaded and tried. This game has relatively simple and easy- to- understand gameplay, suitable for those who like light entertainment after stressful study and work hours. What I like most about this game is the veritably different character system. Each character possesses his strengths, creating rich gameplay. The main task of the game is to destroy monsters coming from all sides, and what I need to do in this game is to control the character to move, avoid attacks, and use applicable chops to master them. they. still, there’s one thing I relatively dislike about this game we constantly see advertisements that we do n’t want to see at each, and there’s no way for us to escape, rather of staying 5 seconds until it allows you to skip the announcement and continue playing the game.

Different Adversaries AND master FIGHTS

  • The monsters in the game are also veritably different; some can be described as vultures, orcs, and indeed configurations. They will come decreasingly multitudinous as the game goes on, and of course, you’ll need everything you have to master them as they get stronger and further multitudinous. Although the challenge is great, I find it relatively intriguing because my chops will be challenged, and I enjoy these moments.
  • Fight crowds of Monsters The diversity of monsters in this game is irrefutable because every nanosecond we survive longer, a stronger monster will appear. Epic Boss Battles After we’ve survived a certain period of time, it’ll be ineluctable that you must master the master.

CHARACTER PROGRESSION AND spoil

This is quite a special game kidney and has just appeared not long agone . Unlike former games where we aren’t only allowed to level up our characters but at the same time we also need to level up and progress in the game to gain temporary chops during that match.. Besides leveling up in the game, the thing we must have is collecting; we need to collect our particulars by prostrating situations or opening cases vended in the shop. utmost people prefer opening cases in the shop because it has a better chance of getting rare particulars than hunting in battle.
position Up Your idol In the game, the only thing we need to do is kill monsters and position up to get important chops for survival. Customize Your figure There are numerous different icons for us to choose from with unique characteristics and munitions that we can equip for that idol.

hutch AND COMPETITIVE MULTIPLAYER

It seems like this is an offline game, and there will be no way for players to contend and compare their capacities. But we were wrong; we can fully contend with other players in the way the game offers. The first way the game allows us to contend with other players in the leaderboard system, where we will show off our loftiest achievements and plan how to master those with advanced achievements. me. The alternate way, and the bone that I find most special, is that the game will give a position for 2 people and will consider who survives the longest.
Join Forces in hutch If you suppose playing alone is relatively boring, you can try this point, in which you and one of your teammates will fight side by side. contend in PvP In this mode, survival can be unlimited, and the only thing that hinders both players is that monsters will get stronger over time. Whoever survives the longest will be the winner.

STRATEGIC SURVIVAL GAMEPLAY

Because the characteristics of this game are survival, the most important thing you need to have then’s the strategy you come up with. Then, you need to calculate the advantages and disadvantages of your character and also choose the most applicable skill for that situation. either, the chart is also said to be veritably large, where you can run in one direction ever, and it’ll noway stop. Your health in this game is presumably the most important thing that you have to save because you can not automatically heal, and the game will keep adding in difficulty, making you overwhelmed.
Resource Management Health and mana are presumably the two most important effects we should pay attention to when surviving. Explore the Charts The charts in this game feel to be endless, and every time the game gives us support drops, we’ve to run veritably far to get them.

2024.05.15 10:06 Lucemuss Royal Kludge Site

Hey everyone! Yesterday I received my new RK Keyboard and it’s working really well. I tried downloading the software from the site that appeared in the manual “rk.gaming.com” and it directed me to the English site “en.rk.gaming.com”.
It said the site was unsafe, and when I downloaded the software I got an alert as it said it was from an unknown publisher. I decided to uninstall and delete it just in case, but I wanted to make sure this was okay and not some form of malware (it is the site listed in the manual after all, but it looks so sketchy lol).
Thanks for your help!

2024.05.15 10:05 filthyheratic Legendary and Exotic Primaries should deal the same base damage.

  1. most legendaries primaries are extremely mid in higher in content, the only ones that feel pretty good are handcanons, ive just about tried every top tier meta legendary primary in legend onslaught and past wave 30 they do not feel good to use at all, this includes, smgs, ars, pulses, but handcanons feel pretty good tho.
  2. a while a go they said the reason they wanted exotics to deal more damage, was to justify their exotic slot, but from a gameplay perspective that reasoning makes zero sense, when you take into the fact exotics present unique archetypes, affects, subclass synergy, and improved damage perks, that regular legendaries just objectively could not compete with even if they did have the same base damage, that should already be a big enough reason to justify their exotic slot
  3. and the biggest problem imo, is the the fact legendaries are significantly harder to obtain than exotics, you can literally farm for hours trying to get alot of legendary weapons, playing some of the hardest content in the game to get some of the best ones, they should feel worth it. there are even a few primaries weapons right now that are more rare than exotic engrams.
  4. and alot of times its not always best to run exotic primaries, either because you dont want to, or the activity needs an exotic special or heavy, when that happens primary weapons should be able to hold their own in the hardest content
i hear we are getting a big balance update for the final shape in this weeks twid, im hoping they finally enable legendary primaries to be on the same base level as exotics.

2024.05.15 09:56 InsaneComicBooker Wizards...Nine? A proposal

UNMARKED SPOILERS BELOW, I will sadly go into spoiler territorry so often the post would look like a bad SCP Foundation article if I tried to black out every single one.
First thing I thought upon finding out about the Wizard Three in Sigil was to notice an opportunitty to include more iconic characters. As we learned more about their role I noticed several complaints about them. Like, "why are we having epic level NPCs relegating the work to mid-level party"? Or "isn't Tasha evil? What is she doing here?" Or "how the hell did Kas fool Tasha, who knows Mordekainen very well?". And so an idea to fix these issues all at once presented itself to me.
In this version of adventure, the PCs are summonned not by Wizard Three, but Wizard Nine. Nine iconic, high-level wizards or other magic users from across D&D worlds or even beyond. They were all summonned to Sigil, to each tap into one of Outer Planes of appriopriate aligment and channel that power into Wish, so the Will of the entire multiverse wishes of Vecna's death. Once it fails, the wizards realize it means one of them must nto be who they claim, possibly an agent of Vecna. So they immediatelly lock themselves in Sanctuary - only PCs can enter and leave because they weren't i nthe room doing the casting of that super Wish. And every time they return with next piece of the Rod, they find Wizards in most disfunctional game of Among Us ever, often probably erupting into violence - this is nine geniuses working AGAINST each other as everyone suspects everyone.
Now, you could keep the original reveal, where Mordekainen is the imposter. If you do, I would advocate against bringing any magic users who know him, like Tasha, Elminster, Storm Silverhand or Dalamar the Dark. If you decide to change the imposter's identity, you can happily bring in some of them, but I would avoid those who know each other (so if you want Elminster, then no Mordekainen or Dalamar).
Evil characters can work with this group because of several reasons, which they should be open about. They may vary from "You think I don't realize Vecna is going to screw ME over alongside everyone else", through "uppity gods need to be put in their place, especially this one" to "I would love what the guy is promising to do to all creation, but I'm not bending my knee to NOBODY!".
Below is a list of proposed characters to use from as many worlds I could think of. I will be comign back to this post to add more names and more worlds with further research, potentially going even beyond strictly D&D settings. You ca drop your own suggestions, I will happily add them to the list with next edit. All requirements are that the character is able to cast 9th level spells, if you have any notes for potential DM willing to use them, please provide them as well.
Eberron - I noticed most of suggestions for Eberron are of evil variety, due to the setting's lack of high-level heroic NPCs (with two exceptions that cannot leave their seats of power), but we'll work with what we have
Exandria (Critical Role) - I noticed most Exandria characters don't reach this high level - even Circle of Brass from Calamity were level 15. However, I found two options to provide a bit of fanservice for any critters at your table, both Chaotic Good:
Krynn (Dragonlance)
Magic the Gathering - there are many worlds in this franchise, but they're often very shallow, so I will group this stuff together.
Mystara - one of my beloved classic worlds, poses an issue because it never conformed to classic 9-types aligment, isntead opting for lawful (defined as "altruistic") and chaotic ("selfish"). A rare exception, 2e book Glantri: Kingdom of Magic, was a big help here.
Oearth (Greyhawk)
Toril (Forgotten Realms)
Domains of Dread (Ravenloft) - I put this one last because of unique use we could have out of Domaind of Dread in this campaign. You see, we know that characterstrapped in Demiplane of Dread cannot leave that easily, they need Dark Powers' permission. And Dark Powers are backing up Kas. I have also seen multiple complaints how both main antagonists of this campaign - Vecna nad Kas - are absent from most of it, with many ideas being thrown around about having Kas as an active rival that competes for pieces of the Rod. It occured to me that he may play that role, while we still have an impostor - another character trapped in Demiplane of Dread could be working with Kas and the Dark Powers in exchange for their freedom. This way we could even allow PCs to sherlock holmes who the traitor is between collecting different pieces of the Rod, and still can have Kas show up with hordes of monsters to steal the Rod later. All that matters is they do not impersonate a character of the same aligment. Here are some candidates for this role:
That's for now, but rest assured, I shall be returning to this post to update it with more characters, potentially more campaign worlds even. Your suggestions whom to add are always welcome.

2024.05.15 09:53 ThanosTheThird Im having problems with F4SE

So I have been trying to mod fallout 4 with the game downgraded, but no matter whether I try to launch with or without mods, downgraded or upgraded version of fallout 4, the F4SE refuses to work. I've tried every version available to download and every time I launch from F4SE it boots to a black screen for a second and then closes instantly. It works if I launch from steam where it is vanilla, but F4SE refuses to launch.

2024.05.15 09:35 ChaosUndAnarchie I have a very basic question...getting hands on pirated games isn't hard at all...but what do you do, when it comes to not included or non-official DLCs, mods and other community workshop stuff?

Since Steam is totally dominating the market, many mods and other addons don't get uploaded to other modding-sites anymore...many have closed for good and in my experience for 90% of all games, pretty much everything in terms of mods and addons, is ONLY on the Steam-Workshop...
I tried several online solutions, where you have to copy the exact URL of the mod/addon from the Workshop to another site and this site then somehow (i don't know how stuff like this works in detail) subscribes to the mod for you and enables you to download the files...
...the problem is, NONE of those Workshop-piracy sites, which i have tried, actually worked...it always says something like "in this case it's impossible, try a different mod", or "oops, we ran into a problem"...so i guess, Steam must have found a solution to prevent people from getting content from Workshop this way?

But which solution ACTUALLY works, then? How can i download mods and other files, which are only avaiable on Steam Workshop?

2024.05.15 09:29 caonguyen9x It a terrible idea to recommend mod pack to people who are new to Skyrim modding. Especially people who just recently played Skyrim. I don’t understand why people keep recommending them.

You should NEVER start out modding with mod pack for the same reason you NOBODY start a woodworking class by buying a COMPLETE wood furniture set. Start small, play the game. See what you don't like and wished to change. That way you understand the mechanism of its working, you see the quirks of vanilla game and hopefully at least a partial understanding of the mechanism that it operate on. Only then, when you understand what you desire you start to Download and follow the installation manual of that mod.
I don't eat pizza by stuffing the entire pizza in to my mouth at the same time, I have to cut it down to size, then I took a bite each time. It get easier that way, with each bite you learn about the taste and texture of the pizza. Sometimes the pizza have the kind of cheese that I do not like or burned bread so I spit it out. Not all bite is the same because pizza can be diverse even within a single pizza. People like to say eating or modding like it is a single step but it is actually not. If just a simplified figure of speech so we easily communicate on a surface level with over complicating something. Eating is not just eating, it actually desiring, finding, seeing, preparing, buying, paying, receiving, checking,....
With each mod that you install you learn something about your taste, your computer (because not all mods are made equal, some are more demanding than other: graphic mod,VFX and script heavy mod are frame killers), you learn about the game version that you have installed. Not all skyrim version are equal ( LE,SE,AE, Steam, GOG). Same goes for mod managers programs too (NMM, Vortex, MO2; honestly the only way to prevent permanently breaking your own game is to use virtual folder, that why Mo2 is superior, cause if you fail, it won’t be a reinstall, even then it might not be a surefire with some animation mod). Some mod are dependant on other mods. Some mod are outdated or outright broken because update by the game so you have to degrade your game version, sometimes the author break their own mod with their update, sometime the mod you want depend on other mod to work but that mod update so something is not working anymore for you, sometime Bethesda update their game, the list go on,...
And here is the lesson for people who are new to modding. You have to organize and approach information with care. You must think strategically before you do, like what does the mod I wanted to have is depend on. Don’t jump in blindly, expect all these complex mechanism to work perfectly. It will not. Keep a modding diary. Test your mod out individually then install new mod when you know it working and not incompatible, interact properly with the game & other mod. Always keep back up save and backup config files.
Modding is not playing vanilla game. You are not playing Skyrim. You are playing GOD. To these however miniscule and dumb NPCs in your game. You are their gods, their creator, their life giver. You are a Magna Ge who gave them life by sacrificing your time & energy.

2024.05.15 09:28 DevotedToExeter Destroyer spam discussion

IIRC right after rocket planes were nerfed (by being given a pre-launch delay) destroyer popularity surged massively. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say I can count the times I've been in matches with less than four destroyers per side on two hands (EU server, don't know how it is in the other regions) since that specific CV nerf.
With submarines being popular too, this has become oppressive. There can be as many as SIX (4 DD + 2 sub) small buggers with low concealment per team running around the map, and there's no middle ground here - the side with the better destroyers wins the match most of the time, simply because those destroyers can keep the enemy ships spotted and allow teammates to push them around and farm them.
Adding to the above an aircraft carrier, and life for battleships and especially cruisers becomes hell as many (especially the latter) rely a lot on concealment to find good positions from which to apply pressure to the enemy team (be it via DPM or through radar).
Personally I'd request a tweak to the matchmaker to give a maximum of four slots in each team to be shared between destroyers and submarines, even if this makes queues for those classes slightly longer (can't imagine they'd be as bad as War Thunder queues where it can take 2-3 minutes to start a match). Unnerfing rocket planes is IMHO out of the question, since those were way too good at shutting down destroyers.
Also, there's the recent planned changes to aircraft carriers which may or may not go live. While I agree plane spotting is also oppressive, I hope those changes will be scrapped because if they go live I expect destroyers to become THE most dominant class in the game, no ifs or buts about it (an unchecked DD can freely control his side of the map right now by the way, though currently one has to be a bit lucky to get such a scenario).
I touched a sensitive topic and I expect backlash, however I wish for there to be meaningful debate. Please discuss, thanks.

2024.05.15 09:19 thisvideoiswrong Quick Looks 3: Vo'Quv Carrier

By my count, there are 15 T5 ships available for just dilithium or a level 40 token, which someone might want a starter build for to help them finish off the episode missions and start the reputation grind. My Strict Budget Build covers the three science vessels, the Baby Step series covers the three cruisers with tactical ensigns, Quick Looks 1 and 2 cover the Hegh'ta Bird of Prey and the Jem'hadar Escort, and there's definitely an argument to be made that some are just bad choices. But there was one more I wanted to take a look at here. This series will not be as thoroughly researched as those previous series, and it will not feature optimized skill builds (there are many resources for that), but the builds will be proven in the Badlands Battlezone and in solo Defense of Starbase One Advanced, as well as extensively parsed in the Wanted (Argala System) patrol with comparisons to similar builds. That should adequately demonstrate that they can get you whatever reputation marks you need, using only mission, basic (generally Mk XII uncommon) Exchange, and Phoenix Store items. Each build will be allowed one Mk XV item to maintain parity with the Strict Budget Build, usually a forward weapon. It's also easy enough to put these together that I could be persuaded to do more if there's a ship that deserves it.
So, why the Vo'Quv? Well it's in the name, it's a carrier. Hangar bays are expensive to boost in this game, but that means they have to be balanced to have pretty good base damage. In this case the two hangars did more than half the damage of most of the other builds in this series with hardly any support for them. The downside to carriers is that they often sacrifice a lot for those hangars. Not so for Flight Deck Carriers, which are pretty much full cruisers, or any of the single hangar types, but the science carriers like the Vo'Quv don't really have an obvious path to getting ship damage, especially on this budget. Their turn rate is terrible, which is a problem for most things, they have only 6 weapons so getting a lot from energy weapons is out, and they don't have a secondary deflector, which did do more on my science vessel build than the hangars did here.
So where did I end up, then? Well, with 6 science ability slots and not a ton of options I couldn't see not using them for some direct exotic damage. And since that required me to face forward, and the turn rate was terrible and I couldn't do much about it, I concluded that I'd have to use turrets in the rear with either beam arrays or single cannons forward, the two widest arc weapon combinations possible apart from pure turrets, although their damage potential is limited. The Chronometric set also seemed like a must have, providing a large amount of EPG and some Polaron cat1 from the tac console, and a bit of aux power from the 2 piece, but I wasn't sure whether I'd want the Morphogenic set or not, since it would mean sacrificing a cannon. Then, I went to the TRINITY DPS Calculator from STO BETTER and started plugging in some rough options. Single cannons outperformed beam arrays even with the Chronometric 3 piece, so that settled that, and getting the crtd from the Morphogenic 3 piece and Cannon Scatter Volley was well worth losing a forward cannon for the torp. Attack Pattern Beta proved a bigger contributor than expected thanks to boosting the exotic damage as well, which is why that's at 2 and CSV is at 1, and easily outperformed including a Torpedo Spread as well. Finally I switched the power settings away from a balanced configuration toward weapons over aux and aux over weapons, and the high aux version did best. So that was the build.
How did it perform? Well it was sluggish, obviously, I expected that. But the DPS was pretty impressive and was reflected in how quickly it got kills. And the survivability was pretty good, with a lot of hull and pretty good healing I really couldn't complain, except that it was so sluggish it was hard to run out of range and heal if I needed to. On the other hand when I did withdraw the fighters kept fighting, contributing to the highest Wanted Elite DPS of any of the builds in the table with only one attempt needed to survive the whole mission (the science vessel could do better by charging in and dying a couple of times, but needed to play cautiously and sacrifice its CPB to survive). They were even powerful enough to handle the Birds of Prey in Starbase One Advanced without any help from the mothership, potentially even without player input, which could be convenient.

Captain Details

Captain Name  Stilt
Captain Career  Science
Captain Faction  Federation
Captain Race  Vulcan
Primary Specialization  Temporal  The best specialization for exotic builds, as well as for ground builds and a good generalist option, it provides debuffs, damage boosts, EPG, and survivability

Space Skill Tree

Lieutenant    Advanced Hull Capacity      Advanced Energy Weapon Training  Advanced Projectile Weapon Training
Lt. Commander  Improved Electro-Plasma System Flow  Impulse Expertise  Improved Control Expertise  Drain Expertise  Targeting Expertise  Defensive Maneuvering

Hazard Emitters III  Science Team III  Tachyon Beam III
Battery Expertise  Sector Space Travel Speed
Feedback Pulse III  Photonic Shockwave III  Jam Sensors III

24 (Ultimate)      Focused Frenzy
25 (1st Ultimate Enhancer)      Frenzied Assault
26 (2nd Ultimate Enhancer)      Team Frenzy
This skill tree is my generalist one from Strict Budget Build part 2, and it pretty much needs to be. This build relies on both energy weapon and exotic damage, so it can't afford to neglect either one. There are other generalist skill trees, of course, but that is what you'll need to be looking for, any single purpose tree isn't going to get the job done.

Ship Loadout: Vo'Quv Carrier

Slot  Item  Notes
Fore Weapon 1  Polaron Cannon  The one Mk XV, single cannons are usually a poor choice, but they will outperform beam arrays forward/turrets aft and provide 180 degrees of firing arc
Fore Weapon 2  Polaron Cannon  The Vo'Quv suffers from terrible turn rate so it doesn't want weapons with narrow arcs, but it needs to face forward for the exotic damage
Fore Weapon 3  Morphogenic Polaron Energy Torpedo Launcher   Here for the 3 piece set bonus providing 30% crtd to the whole ship

Aft Weapon 1  Heavy Chronometric Polaron Turret  Mostly need a turret, 2 piece provides some aux
Aft Weapon 2  Morphogenic Polaron Energy Weapon   Another turret, and contributes to the 3 piece
Aft Weapon 3  Polaron Turret  Just a turret

Deflector  Solanae Deflector Array Mk XII Very Rare  Provides more EPG out of the box than any other mission reward
Impulse Engines  Sol Defense Impulse Engines Mk XII Very Rare  With the bonus from getting hit this does just provide the best total turn rate out of the mission rewards at 14.7 degrees/s, replace with Fortified Competitive rep engines
Warp Core  Obelisk Subspace Rift Warp Core  This build only hits 122 aux so this doesn't actually help, could consider Deuterium-Stabilized but the benefit is minimal
Shields  Sol Defense Covariant Shield Array Mk XII Very Rare  2 piece is nice for survivability, alternative would be Jem'Hadar 2 piece for a bit of Polaron cat1.

Devices  Exotic Particle Flood  Crafted in Science R&D. I do have to admit that the materials are a little hard to come by, and Admiralty (with account unlocked ships) is the best source I've found.
Deuterium Surplus  Evasive Maneuvers in battery form, and you can collect 4 per day from the Alhena system.
Delta Alliance Reinforcements Beacon  Handy damage boost

3 Engineering Consoles  Console - Engineering - Trellium-D Plating Mk XII Very Rare  Good survivability console, could use a Neutronium instead
Console - Engineering - Polaric Modulator Mk XII Very Rare  Boosts Inertia, which is rare, as well as turn rate, and slipstream turn rate at warp
Console - Engineering - House Martok Defensive Configuration Mk XII Very Rare  Boosts turn rate and provides some survivability, an RCS would work too

4 Science Consoles  Console - Science - Temporal Disentanglement Suite Mk XII Very Rare  Nice crit and durability boost, plus some power.
Console - Science - Temporally Shielded Datacore Mk XII Very Rare  Slightly less EPG than Particle Generators but it makes up for it with the CtrlX
Console - Science - Particle Generator Mk XII Uncommon  Just need EPG
Console - Science - Particle Generator Mk XII Common

2 Tactical Consoles  Console - Tactical - Morphogenic Matrix Controller Mk XII Very Rare  For the 3 piece and some polaron cat1
Console - Tactical - Chronometric Capacitor Mk XII Very Rare  Good EPG, some aux from the 2 piece, and some Polaron cat1, and this build uses all of it

2 Hangar Bays  Hangar - To'Duj Fighters  These provide more DPS than any other hangar that's available by default, and they come with the ship, they will die in heavy AoE content, otherwise use two
Hangar - Delta Flyers  These have slightly less DPS than To'duj but almost never die in any content, but do require a level 65 KDF character for Cross Faction Flying. Could substitute B'rels for more DPS loss

Officer Details

Bridge Officers
Lt. Commander Tactical  Tactical Team I  Shield distribution and debuff clear, may cause firing cycle problems but I haven't seen it
Cannon: Scatter Volley I  Excellent weapon damage buff and also spreads APB to up to 3 targets
Attack Pattern Beta II  Unusual to slot this above the firing mode, but it boosts every damage source and weapon damage is only ~1/4 of the total

Lt. Commander Engineering  Emergency Power to Engines I  More than doubles speed and provides +2 turn rate, essential mobility for any build
Auxiliary to Structural I  Excellent heal and damage resist, and on a very short cooldown

Traits & Duty Officers

Trait  Name  Description  Notes
Personal Traits  Astrophysicist    A little bit of EPG
Cannon Training    A little more cannon damage
Conservation of Energy    Significant exotic damage while solo, but stacks don't last long
Deft Cannoneer    Boosts turn rate by 1, on this build we need it, from Cannons R&D
Fleet Coordinator    One of the best traits in the game when on a team
Give Your All    Excellent hull damage resistance, from Engineering R&D
  Operative    Some extra crit
Particle Manipulator    The most powerful trait for exotic damage, +50%/+29.6% crth/crtd on this build, from Science R&D
Photonic Capacitor    Extra Photonic Fleet is nice to have

Starship Traits  None    Unconventional Tactics from completing Strategist is definitely worth slotting here, but I kept it cheap.

Space Reputation Traits  None    You'll start picking these up very quickly, Precision and Advanced Targeting Systems are top picks.

Duty Officers  Projectile Weapons Officer    "Law" from A Fistful of Gorn, a bit of a pain to get there, but worth having
Projectile Weapons Officer    A common included in my first duty officer pack
Astrometrics Scientist    Uncommon, also in my first pack, handy to have set
Conn Officer    From Phoenix, a must have for mobility in any build

This table shows all damage sources in one Wanted Advanced run, with multiple lines from the same source summed together.

Now, let's talk keybinds. In STO on PC you're going to want to learn keybinding eventually, and most of it's not too hard and can be done through the chat window (although it is arguably better to create a separate text file with your binds, that's more complicated). The first thing I always do is to set up a secondary fire weapons button through settings, usually V, just in case I screw up and my intended fire keybind doesn't work. While I'm there I usually set Distribute Shields to Left Shift, it's a pretty good survivability boost, although a lot of people do say it can mess up firing cycles, but personally I've never noticed a problem. Then, the commands you'll want to know are "FirePhasers" or "FireAll", "+power_exec Distribute_Shields", and "+TrayExecByTray # #", where # is a number. Note that the list of commands needs quotation marks around it, and commands should be separated by "$$". So if you typed the following into the chat: /bind y "+TrayExecByTray 0 0 $$ +TrayExecByTray 0 1 $$ +TrayExecByTray 1 2 $$ +TrayExecByTray 1 3" That would create a keybind so that y would activate the first and second abilities in the row labeled 1, and the third and fourth abilities in the row labeled 2 (0 in a keybind means 1 in the UI, 1 means 2, 2 means 3, etc., that's just how it works), starting with the fourth ability in 2 and then proceeding backwards. From there on in it's personal preference, put things where they feel natural to you, where you're used to them being. What I use has evolved naturally over time, I make no claims that it's efficient, just that I'm used to it, and I use it on everything. For fire weapons, distribute shields, Emergency Power abilities, cooldown reduction, often Aux to Structural, and anything else I just want to keep active I use spacebar, like this: /bind space "FireAll $$ +power_exec Distribute_Shields $$ +TrayExecByTray 6 0 $$ +TrayExecByTray 6 1 $$ +TrayExecByTray 6 2 $$ +TrayExecByTray 6 3 $$ +TrayExecByTray 6 4" That's the first 5 slots in row 7, which is usually enough. Then for my firing modes, Attack Pattern Beta, and so on, things with short cooldowns I activate as I attack, I use the 7 key, no good reason for that it just happened, and the first 4 slots in row 3: /bind 7 "+TrayExecByTray 2 0 $$ +TrayExecByTray 2 1 $$ +TrayExecByTray 2 2 $$ +TrayExecByTray 2 3" And finally for my exotic builds I always put Gravity Well and Destabilizing Resonance beam on 2, using the next two slots in row 3, although it is true that the usual logic behind that doesn't apply here, I just did it out of habit: /bind 2 "+TrayExecByTray 2 4 $$ +TrayExecByTray 2 5" That's all the keybinds I use, everything else I activate manually, one at a time, but it does compress 13 keys I might want to be pressing down to 3, which helps a lot.
Now, the difficult thing about this build is that I really don't know how to suggest upgrading it, apart from the obvious necessity of some Competitive Reputation engines to get their Overcharge to improve turn rate, I made sure to use Aux to Structural to pair with the Fortified version of those. The damage is very divided between different types, with about 40% from hangars, 25% from exotics, and 21% from energy weapons, and it's not getting a lot out of any of them, but I'll provide my own ideas and the STO BETTER Basics links for all three. Currently the biggest damage source is the hangars, but trying to improve those would be expensive. Ideally you'd like to pick up Superior Area Denial from the Mirror Strike Wing Escort lockbox ship, or at least the Independent Wingmate space trait, but those are very expensive compared to this build. Even the more minor and less powerful Advanced Engineering – Hangar Craft Power Transmission consoles are starting at 1 million energy credits each on PC for either a Mk XII with a useless mod or a Mk II with an [EPG] mod, or 5 million for a Mk II with [Polaron], while Swarmer Matrix is going for 7 million. If you wanted to work on exotic damage you could of course pick up the Temporal reputation two piece, and then you might want Subspace Vortex or Very Cold in Space to replace the heals with some more damage, but those will cost you 9 million each, and really you'd want to pair them with Spore Infused Anomalies from the Somerville or Batlh C-store ships for a truly potent source of exotic damage. You might be able to get good exotic damage out of the Gravimetric Photon and Particle Emission Plasma torpedoes after picking up the Competitive engines, and those aren't as expensive, but they do give you a much narrower arc. And if you wanted to improve the energy weapons, of course there are reputation items you can pick up starting with the Discovery reputation shield, but you're pretty limited by the combination of poor turn rate and forward firing exotics. You could try to switch to dual (heavy) cannons, probably moving the torpedo to the rear and dropping the plain turret, but I don't think I'm a good enough pilot to pull that off even with Competitive engines, which would leave you with single cannons which have underwhelming base damage and very few set items to support them. I just don't know what direction to go in to make a really impactful improvement in this build.
Finally, here's the table of DPS testing in the Wanted patrol for all five equivalent budget builds. The Luna used the original, unaltered Strict Budget Build, using the mentioned swap of Emergency Power to Shields instead of Aux to Structural for better survivability against non-Borg. The Vor'cha sat somewhere between parts one and two of the Baby Step series, meaning it had exactly the same consoles as the Hegh'ta BoP and similar ones to the Jem Escort, and the beam equivalents of the phaser weapons, with exactly the abilities and personal traits in the Baby Step posts. It must also be said that the Vor'cha and Vo'quv were the only builds to never die on elite difficulty, and the Vor'cha was definitely the toughest, although all the builds took about 20 minutes to get through the mission so using them at that difficulty is a bad idea. The Hegh'ta of course used the Quick Looks 1 build, and the Jem Escort used the Quick Looks 2 build.
Elite (DPS thousands) Advanced 1 (DPS thousands) Advanced 2 Advanced 3 Advanced 4 Advanced Average
Hegh'ta Heavy BoP 20.0 20.1 21.5 22.5 23.2 21.8
Jem'hadar Escort 19.3 23.4 20.6 21.8 19.7 21.4
Vo'quV Carrier 27.3 26.3 28.2 26.6 25.2 26.6

2024.05.15 09:08 Regular_Roof2814 Fallout 3 tips for a newby

I recently downloaded Fallout 3 on the PlayStation and played an couple of hours the other night (I got to Megaton but no further). It already feels like there’s so much going on and so much to know. It’s a bit intimidating right now so I haven’t returned to it, but I’ve heard so many good things about it as a game that I really want to get into it.
So, any tips for a beginner?
Additional gamer context if useful: Previously I’ve played a lot more Nintendo games and only recently got a PlayStation. Big games I’ve played are: Legend of Zelda (both BoTW and ToTK), Baldur’s Gate 3 - neither feel that similar in quest/fighting style which could be why I’m struggling

2024.05.15 09:00 AutoModerator [Crack Watch] Weekly question thread

Ask any question you like, but also please read the Beginner's guide to CrackWatch before doing so

Q&A

Q: When will [insert game name here] be cracked?

A: STOP! CrackWatch members are not psychic. Games get cracked by completely ANONYMOUS SCENE GROUPS who don't disclose their progress or plans to the general public so NO ONE knows WHEN and IF a certain game will be cracked.

Q: What are all these NFO thingies? Where do I download it?

A: NFOs are text files included with game releases that contain information about the releases. CrackWatch only informs which games have been cracked. To download look for the releases on CS.RIN or torrent websites. Useful websites can be found in The Beginners Guide or Pirated Games Mega Thread .

Q: WTF is Denuvo?

A: Denuvo is a Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology used to protect games from being cracked. Games that have Denuvo are harder to crack and usually take much longer. See Pinned Post for a list of Denuvo games.

Q: An update is out, but it includes the base game as well! Can I only download the update without redownloading the entire game?

A: Yes. CS.RIN is your friend.

2024.05.15 08:48 JLGoodwin1990 I gave AWII an honest shot, and well...

So, I haven't been able to play AWII up until now because I simply don't own a Series X or game on PC (I still game on a base Xbox One and 360). I'm a massive fan of the original game and the American Nightmare digital add-on. I even purchased the novelization of the original game, and downloaded the little live action mini series they made years ago. I stayed away as much as I could from playthroughs on YouTube as I didn't want to be spoiled in terms of story or gameplay. Happily, a friend of mine who owns both a Series X and the game let me take a spin on the game from the beginning. I felt so excited to sit down and play it, especially after hearing the rave (non-spoiler) reviews it got. I played for about three and a half hours before choosing to hang it up.
Now, before I say anything more, I just want to say that these are merely my own feelings, thoughts and opinions on the game. If you loved the game, I genuinely am glad for that. Not all games are going to appeal to everyone, and the decisions and changes Remedy made for the sequel were what they thought was best.
That being said, as much as it pains me to say, after giving it an honest chance, I find it simply is not for me. To be completely honest, I didn't like much of it. There were a few things I did like, such as the Dark Place version of NYC, and especially the updated version of Bright Falls, as the town itself was one thing I adored about the original game. Watery was also a welcome addition. And Coffee World flat out cracked me up. And I also liked the updated look of Wake, and the character of Alex Casey.
But that's about where my likes end. I will try and avoid any spoilers in my own personal criticisms. But, the massive change in tone from the first game was one thing I honestly didn't like. I very much liked the, what I can only describe as Action-Horror style of the original, over the flat out Horror style of AWII (And I say that as a horror writer myself!) Maybe it's simply because I've played the original since I was 20 years old in 2010 to now, but it was just too jarring for me. The best way to phrase it, was that it felt like it was trying to emulate the Resident Evil remakes too much. I also missed the cliche, somewhat cheesy 70s and 80s movie tone the original had as it went more serious. To me, that sort of sucked the fun out of things. The same with the whole concept of the cork board and connecting pictures together. With either Alan or Saga. It just wasn't my personal cup of tea. It slowed things down too much.
I also disliked the change in combat. Many people found the combat of the original to be tedious, but I personally liked the swarming enemy mechanics. I like the rush of panic as you swing Alan around, pointing the flashlight and trying to land your shots. Making the enemies much harder and fewer just felt less engaging and tense to me, and making them venerable bullet sponges also wasn't that enjoyable to me. In addition, I also missed the driving segments that the first game had. Again, I know others didn't enjoy them, but I personally did. Getting behind the wheel and ramming into the Taken was a highlight for me.
One other thing I wasn't a fan of either, was adding a new, playable character. I won't delve into this too much, as way too many people have muddied the waters over this as I've stumbled across YouTube videos with titles about it. Suffice to say, the actress who portrayed Saga Anderson did a great job, but, if it makes sense, in a game called Alan Wake II, his character was the one I wanted to play, not another, even if it was chosen for story direction.
Beyond that, I also missed the licensed soundtrack that the first game had. It made the game, to me at least, feel more connected to the real world, which always helps increase immersion. Plus, a game filled with songs by artists I love such as Roy Orbison, Poe, The Black Angels, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and more just was all that and a bag of chips. Plus, to be honest, I wasn't a big fan of the new rendition of the in game band Old Gods of Asgard. The original songs sounded genuinely like ones a 70s rock band would have put out 50 years ago; the ones I heard didn't. Maybe I didn't get far enough in to the game to find they were supposed to be new songs that the Anderson brothers recorded, but still.
Honestly, I think I would more have preferred the version of Alan Wake II we were supposed to get 11 or 12 years ago, before it was shelved. I watched that footage back again when I returned home tonight, and found myself enjoying watching it more than what I played.
Again, if you did enjoy the game, I am truly happy for you, as it makes all your lives that much more enjoyable. Please don't let my negative reaction detract from your positive one! Enjoy the game!
But, for me?
I think I'll just stick to playing the original and American Nightmare.
