What sites can you get on at school to listen to music

I got an ear training question that I wanna get some opinions on.

2024.05.15 09:36 grandstankorgan I got an ear training question that I wanna get some opinions on.

So essentially for most of my bass journey I’ve been self taught and had teachers here and there. My technique , speed, and general theory has advanced significantly in comparison to my ability to play by ear and learn by ear. I used tabs a lot for majority of my song learning. So now I’m at the point where I desperately want to train my ear to be on par with my other skills. However at times when I try and learn parts from songs by ear whether it be the bassline, chords, melody or anything. I’m confident with what I transcribed by ear to be correct due to it being very pronounced in the mix. However there comes times in the song when the line I’m learning gets a bit more buried in the mix and I’m not as confident with what I transcribed or if even not even being able to tell at all what’s being played. If you have ran into this same situation what have you done to figure it out? On the contrary in today’s age there are software options that can extract basslines and other parts from a song to show exactly what it is. While this makes transcribing much easier I’m cautious if this would ultimately defeat the purpose of me being able to train my ear correctly and hear parts within music that are buried deep in the mix.

2024.05.15 09:34 some_random_name1519 Pre-Finale thoughts on Fantasy High: Junior Year

Since it's almost the time for the finale, I have to get my thoughts out there about Fantasy High: Junior Year. Prefacing this by saying that I'm really enjoying the season as-is, and have enjoyed most other D20 seasons as well. Let's just call this whole thing from here on out a spoiler. Spoilers/potential spoilers for all seasons and one-shots of Fantasy High, as well as The Seven, and possibly Pirates of Leviathan (though probably not the latter since it's fairly peripheral).
1) Problems with the timeline
There are massive timeline issues with the overlap of all of the in-world seasons, primarily The Seven, but also FHSY for some aspects. • The Seven takes place in this same year (Junior year for Zelda, Danielle, and Ostentatia), beginning with the first day of classes (Brennan narrates that it has been "about a year and a half" since the events of the Prompocalypse, so that works out to Junior Year for the Bad Kids too) • In The Seven, Sam establishes (multiple times) that Zelda has a current boyfriend, and that it is Gorgug; this makes the whole "here's a box of your stuff, I'm breaking up with you" thing makes no sense
2) Arthur Aguefort
Augefort being on a time-travel holiday with Ayda presents and causes all sorts of problems. • Arthur is present and reachable at the school at the beginning of The Seven's Junior year, as well as multiple times throughout, so how is it possible that he is not present while The Bad Kids complete this same year in time? • If the answer to that is Chronomancy, and he just redid a year then this brings up its own set of issues.
3) The Night Yorb
Really? They just...sealed it in the roof of the van and that's it? It feels like that was too convenient and abrupt.
4) Pretty much everything school-related this year
Seriously...why is the major focus on academics and downtime? Don't get me wrong, I'm still enjoying the season, but it seems like a really odd thing to focus on so heavily, specifically with regard to all the other related seasons.
5) Porter & Jace
OK, I'll admit that I do really enjoy this twist. However, as much as Brennan has said that he has been planning this for 5 years, it seems odd that he would deviate from whatever plan he originally had so heavily. Now, certainly they had no way of knowing if Dimension 20 would take off, so I can understand if the next 3 years of school weren't fleshed out in his world building, however there are very clear breadcrumbs throughout Freshman Year that lead to things which happen in Sophomore Year (eg. the Nightmare King is referred to by Fig in a very early episode - possibly episode 1? - not just at the end when the Crown goes missing). With this all being said, and taking into account that things will never be 100% concrete until the cast actually interacts with a session, it seems odd that an entire BBG would be axed in favor of a couple of teachers who are only bad because Emily hyperfocused on one of them.
6) What I think is actually going on
I think we are dealing with something dimensional/alternate-life related. Something à la "The Inner Light" from TNG. I'm guessing that the Night Yorb situation didn't actually happen the way we think/have been told, and that this has essentially been a "teachable moment"/potential end of life/what might have been thing.
I guess I'll find out if I'm totally hearing zebras instead of horses soon. See y'all at Bazrar's

2024.05.15 09:34 Alarmed-Meeting-2926 AITA? Tw-miscarriage

This will be a long post but I’m going to try my hardest to make it shorter!
I (30F) have been with my partner (28M) for 10 years. I fell pregnant 3 years into the relationship and we now have a 7 year old boy with autism. During the newborn stage my partner worked A LOT and went to college to learn a new trade to support us (he is now an electrician that works 12 hour shifts, 7 days on 4 days off, days and nights), so I have always been on my own a lot. During the newborn stage my partner never got up with our son, never fed him, bathed him etc. I devolved post natal depression, I have a history of mental health issues so this wasn’t a surprise to me, I just expected a bit more help. I went back to work once my MAT leave was up and started to feel better and more “Mel.
Fast forward to 3 years ago, I had a miscarriage and was in hospital with sepsis and needed a D&C due to the hospital missing “remains” I had in my womb. This then led to a mental breakdown and I was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder, PTSD, anxiety and OCD. During this time I was still on my own a lot despite begging not to be, still caring for my child on my own whilst hallucinating and being paranoid. I was still getting up and doing everything around the home and all the childcare despite now being on antipsychotics, the last time I had a lay in was 3 years ago when I was in hospital. My partner stays in bed till 10:30/11 on the days he’s not working, I do everything around the home, cooking, cleaning, school lunches, ironing, walking the dog, supporting and bringing up my autistic child, food shopping, baths etc. Every single thing you can think of apart from going to work I do. I get my nails done once a month, which I can’t really afford time wise, them 2 hours I’m out the home I could be doing the jobs I need to do around the home, he won’t do them just because I’m out, he’ll leave them for me to do when I’m home, including walking the dog. He won’t cook dinner, he wouldn’t even know what to put in his child’s packed lunch box and he refuses to feed the dog because it’s raw meat and won’t touch it.
Whilst I agree that me not going to work is a luxury (I was made redundant and recovering from a mental breakdown; I would not have been able to work), I feel more overwhelmed now than I did before I went to work. He says me not working is why I should do everything around the home, but I also done everything around the home when I worked?
He is always so irritated, shouts at our child if he is having a meltdown or sensory issues, struggles to keep his patience with him and doesn’t have much of a relationship (I never get time on my own to have a bath etc because I am my sons comfort and soul carer). He will either sit on his phone or sit on his PlayStation in the bedroom, eventually be irritated with that, shout and scare my dog and just ruin the mood in the home. I bring all of this up to him but he is like a petulant child and tbh I end up ignoring him because I cannot be bothered with it.
As someone who experiences MH issues I have asked him if he feels depressed and he says no, I ask for a reason as to why he’s to angry all the time and he says he’s just tired (understandable, I mean so am I but I’m not angry and I’m still able to parent).
The last 2 weeks I feel like I’ve logged out mentally in terms of my relationship and I told him this. On top of everything I do around the home, he finds it “weird” that we don’t have sex. I am treated like a maid, a cook, a cleaner, a child care provider and a dog walker, I’m not adding a sex worker to the list. There is no romance, no date nights as he is always working, and the odd occasion he isn’t working our date nights include me, him and his phone. I refuse to have sex with someone that doesn’t care about me enough to help me ease the load I have on top of me, who is irritated all the time and lazy when it comes to parenting and his home.

2024.05.15 09:33 Alieninvasi0n Our (preadoptive) daughter grew 3 grade levels in reading in one year!

Pretty much what the title says. I just need to tell our story to people who might be able to relate to hers and our situation a little bit. I often feel so alone and like nobody understands the intensity of what we have been experiencing over the past year.
Our daughter is in 6th grade and has been with us just over a year. We have no other children --we knew her from when my sister had fostered her a few years ago, and we just loved her. When we heard she hadn't been able to reunify with her mom we decided to go through the process to get licensed so we could adopt her. She's lived in 8 different foster homes, and her last placement made it very clear they would not be adopting her. She is definitely bonding to us, she's very affectionate, and soaks up all the snuggles and love she can get, which can be a lot at 12 years old but we know she needs it.
A little back story though--we have been going through hell for the past 6 months with anger and emotional outbursts during which she sometimes becomes unsafe and physically aggressive. After her outbursts she cries, tells us she's so sorry and she doesn't want to be this way, we talk through it, forgive and repair, only for her to turn around and do it again the next day. She has told us that she knows she's not going anywhere but when she gets upset, something inside tells her that we are just going to get rid of her anyways so she might as well just ruin it (by screaming, making messes, throwing things, etc). She doesn't act like this at school or treat anyone else this way. She does argue with teachers and classmates some but that's about it. We've had so many people tell us that she obviously feels safe with us to feel her feelings and let it all out, but that's not much consolation when you're being screamed at, sworn at, hit, etc. by someone that you've poured your heart into. It's really easy to get discouraged and feel like there is no point and that she's getting nowhere.
So back to the school thing..She's always been years behind grade level in all her subjects. She also has iq scores in the low 80s, is diagnosed with ADHD, learning disability, PTSD, ODD, and RAD. I've often thought that her low scores had a lot to do with her struggling with all aspects of testing and were not a true reflection of her abilities. At home we see how depending on her emotional stability and mood at any given moment she can be more or less logical, focused, etc. and on a good day, she often surprises us with the things she says and does. She still avoids reading at all costs but I've been noticing that when we are baking/following a recipe or she reads a sign or whatever, she is doing much better.
Well, low and behold, yesterday she had a great morning, went to school and took her through year NWEA reading assessment, and gained 36 points from her winter assessment. She went from a 1st-3rd grade level at the beginning of the year depending on who you ask to (for the first time in her life) meeting state standards for her grade level!!! Words cannot describe how proud I am I literally start sobbing again every time I think about it. She needed this win so much, she came home so confident and we had such an amazing day!!

2024.05.15 09:32 Suzuki-3 Am I just an autistic ISFP? (Aspie INTJ, sx5)

TL;DR, mental health conditions messing with cognitive functions?
In 2012, I was diagnosed with Asperger's at age 8 right before DSM-5 was published. Currently, I also feel like I am dealing with undiagnosed DPDR (Depersonalization-Derealization Disorder), as well as a minor form of DPD (Dependent Personality Disorder). (Asperger's only diagnosed). ...annnd an EXTRA, I am also thinking if Cyclothymia is also involved.
I am completely certain with all of my typology, except my tritype and MBTI. Some bonuses are Melancholic-Phlegmatic, rXUA[I] It's often said everywhere I look that an INTJ can not have EII and FELV.
(Probably a mess below, so please prepare)
When I was 11-12, I was a lot more extroverted and looked like a type 8, when my friend got into fights in school, I took the "You need to get through me, before you get to him." type of role. (Se inconsistency?)
I am inside my room basically 24/7, I have a bit of a sugar addiction, I struggle with exercise, general physical activity and I am still for most of the day. Though I am starting to pick up going for walks. (Se-grip or secondary Se?). I jump at random loud sounds from my family, and sometimes struggle to sleep when our neighbours play music, even when it's extremely quiet because the bass really gets to me, however back in 2022(?), I slept on a bed with no blanket, with a running truck right outside my room.
When I have disagreements with someone, I can be a prude and despise them based on their lack of morality, and it eithers leads me to withdrawing or stealing the INFJ door slam, though I notice myself occasionally letting them back into my life, and I don't know why I do that, it's like I just do it without thinking on it, only to regret it or continue to resent the person.
I can struggle coming to conclusions with my decisions, and often have someone else do it for me (DPD?), I am socially anxious, and get my friend or family to buy things at shops in place for me, so I can avoid interacting with shopkeepers, etc, to stop me from being anxious. When anxious, it's more of a feeling than thought. Because of Asperger's, I can't look at people in the eyes, including most of my family members too, it feels like my soul is being pierced with my subconsciousness telling me to look away at all costs. When I seek help, I tend feel like my family is incompetent, except for my friends or former counsellor.
I always look down, walking or sitting, with either a poker face or death stare, everyone would always ask me randomly if something was up, I would always be indecisive of what to answer, often it going unanswered, but this has led to me being comfortable with opening up, and asking for help, (DPD, or sx5?)
On the inside, I am often guided by my emotional atmosphere inside my head, inner world even. When listening to a song that gets to me, I just can't sit still, internally I can be in the moment, excited and inspired, without showing it at all on the outside, like a robot. I have some impulsive sides to me (Asperger's?), which has lead me thinking my tritype is 471, mixed with the idealism and high morality, this has got me thinking on Cyclothymia. Also a touch of OCPD included with the 1 fix... overall Cluster C.
Within the realm of empathy, I often offer logical solutions, offering guides instead of emotional support, though I offer emotional support about the times out of 3/10, it's occasional. It often feels heavily embarrassing and exposing to me when I try to be emotionally supportive, it's also the same when I want to show my gratitude, I would rather text a thank you, than say it in person because of how difficult it feels to do so, but deep down I know I would really like to, I am slowly but surely making progress on this.
I really feel like I am an INXX, but at the same time I think about how I am a very emotional, and intense INTJ who romanticizes things, or a robotic Feeler type. the cognitive functions of INTJ and ISFP are the same, and I relate to them them the most compared to every other cognitive function stacks. If I could invent my MBTI type, it would be: Fi, Ni, Te, Se.
If someone read this big mess, I really appreciate it, this has been eating at me. I hope this all made sense.

2024.05.15 09:32 Bloom-ing-9502 How i revamped my style with a little inspiration and a dash of creativity

Hey fashion enthusiasts! I've got a story that I think a lot of you can relate to. So, for the longest time, I felt like my wardrobe was a bit... meh. You know the feeling, right? Every morning was like a rerun of 'What Not to Wear,' and I was the uninspired star of the show. 😅 But then, something changed. I stumbled upon this subreddit and it was like a breath of fresh air for my stale closet. The stylegrids here are nothing short of art, and they inspired me to experiment with my own outfits.
I started laying out my clothes the night before, mixing and matching pieces I'd never dared to pair before. I even threw in some accessories I'd forgotten I had! The results? Let's just say I've been getting compliments left and right, and my confidence is through the roof. But here's the kicker – as I was curating my outfits, I realized I had an eye for this sort of thing. It sparked an idea, and before I knew it, I was working on a little project of my own. It's called Dashy.so, and while it's not a fashion site, it's definitely a product of the creativity and inspiration I found right here in this community.
So, for anyone feeling stuck in a style rut, my advice is to dive into the grids, play with your wardrobe, and let your creativity lead the way. You never know where it might take you – it took me to starting my own project! And if you're curious, you can check it out at https://dashy.so. Who knows, maybe it'll inspire your next big idea too! Keep slaying with those stylegrids, folks!

2024.05.15 09:30 KrizzyPeezy I 30M been usually finding people like 22F in PH online who fall in love with me the more I don't talk? And gets mad if I don't say "I love you?" Even though I stated clearly I am not their BF and no feelings.

I was making friends with a girl 22F from the Philippines in an app where you meet global friends. I am 30M. It's not really for dating but it can be. She 22F told me she recently broke up with a guy she hates because he cheated on her with other women and assumes every guy is like that.
In the first time we video called as friends which was the first day I talked to her after moving apps, her mother randomly grabbed her phone and ended up talking to me. I was being nice and respectful and then the mother was like "where do you live? What do you do? Can I see what your house looks like?" I told her it's very late it's 4am it's very dark I can't right now I'm about to sleep. Blah
After I responded with those questions a bit nervously, the mother stopped talking and she told her mom that I'm just her friend. After that I got turned off from that... I told the girl that it was pretty rude and that I don't like that.
Then after that she been calling me cute and handsome in tagalog non-stop. Her moms been asking about me a lot too. She been talking to me like I'm her boyfriend and future husband. I'm just her friend and I keep telling her that I don't have feelings for her. I barely talk to her yet she fills my dm's with messages iloveyou iloveyou iloooooveyouuuuu and paragraphs saying how much she'll wait for me to fall in love with her and that she is willing to wait to meet me. She doesn't even know what she wants to do in life and doesn't even go to school.. which makes it even harder because there's no way I'm going to meet her soon. I am not able to go there either. She said her mother is controlling her saying that she doesnt want her to go to school and in the phone call that day her mom said "shes staying here" even though I didn't say anything. Keep in mind I'm an introvert so I didnt ask anything to the mom. Lol
After that I haven't been speaking much but slowly less and less each day so she will probably lose interest. I just only want to be friends...
She told me she doesn't do anything right now. She is very poor and just stays at home. Gets really mad if I'm online and I don't message her back. Gets clingy if she sees another girl comment my photos or post and questions it. She even says "I know youre not my boyfriend and just a friend but I looooove you"... then gets mad at me if I don't say it back and forces me to say it. Then she unsends her messages if I don't say the same thing back to her.
She is really nice to me but I don't want to make her cry. I don't have the same feelings for her and I don't want to force it on myself to love someone I don't know. I already told her. She gets mad if I'm talking to others even old friends even dudes! Gets mad I'm not giving her my whole attention even though I'm single.
It seems like the less I talk the more she falls for me???
She keeps telling me she doesnt want to be hurt by me and she wants to not be an option. She keeps repeating herself. I keep telling her how I am feeling and I don't want to say I love you because I only want to be friends. She gets mad. She wants me to tell her everything I'm going to do every day even though I am not her boyfriend and gets mad when I don't.

City center apartments are frequently considered the greatest buy-to-lets, City center apartments are frequently considered the greatest buy-to-lets, but are they still a wise investment? Here, we’ll examine the benefits and drawbacks of this specific property type.

Why City Center Apartments (Can’t) Make Great Investments

Here are the primary factors that have contributed to new city center flats making excellent buy-to-let investments over time:
Are City Center Apartments Still The Best Btl Investments In 2023? 8

Residing Outside of Burbs and Small Towns

Many people who have always wanted to live in a big city eventually give in to its pull and discover themselves in a much more populated and concentrated location than they did in the suburbs.
Although many people prefer to relocate to a city, only some are suited to city living. It goes considerably quicker and significantly differs from life in a small town or the suburbs. Before leaving the suburbs for the big city lights, you must weigh the benefits and drawbacks of living in a major metropolis, as with any place.

benefits of residing in a city
Although city life has drawbacks, it makes up for them with all it offers. Large cities are important cultural hubs with thriving music and art scenes, a vast range of cuisine, additional attractions like museums, sporting events like ball games and concerts, and a diverse population sharing the urban lifestyle.

The Benefits of Living in a City

1. Meeting New Faces. Everywhere you go, you will meet new people. Nevertheless, in a metropolis, where a variety of people come from all over the world, the experience is different. A city also has a larger population. Thus you will frequently run into new people. It can be energizing and enlightening to meet and converse with new people who have had very diverse life experiences from your own.
2. Activities/ Night Life. You probably know your town very well and have done about everything there is to do if you have lived there for ten or more years. Even if you live in a major city for ten years, you won’t be able to take advantage of everything it has to offer. In a big city, there is always something to do to keep individuals from growing bored with their diverse interests. Most cities provide exciting nightlife, various cuisines to sample, shows of all kinds, museums, landmarks, parks, festivals, sporting events, and more. There are many options in big cities to join the scene if you are a musician, visual artist, or performer.
3. Public Transportation. The public transportation system is a decent alternative to driving your own vehicle and navigating big cities’ traffic and parking issues. You can go where you need to go using trains, subways, buses, taxis, and ride-sharing vehicles in cities. You can avoid the hassle of driving by using one of the many relatively reasonable public transit options, such as the bus or train. In most big cities, it’s possible to live without a car.
Are City Center Apartments Still The Best Btl Investments In 2023? 10
4. Big Events. Major cities host the largest events, including sporting competitions, concerts, festivals, and art openings. You don’t need to make the long commutes to and from the suburbs to attend a concert or a baseball game.
5. Share Experience. The fact that everyone in a large metropolis with millions of residents comes from varied backgrounds and experiences city life similarly can be incredibly reassuring. Large cities are friendlier than most people think, and if you frequent the same spots and engage in the same pursuits, you’ll rapidly meet new individuals who share your interests and likely move there for similar reasons to yours.
7. Free Activities. There are numerous free things to do when planned effectively, even if many activities are normally more expensive due to the greater overhead costs. You can spend the entire day keeping occupied for free by going to the park, window shopping, touring museums on free days, and taking in the sights downtown. Even though you won’t be spending any money, you will undoubtedly spend time at these breathtaking locations and maximize your urban experience.
Are City Center Apartments Still The Best Btl Investments In 2023? 11
8. Higher Salary. Employers are typically prepared to pay extra despite the high cost of living in the city. This is why many suburban residents commute into the city for a better wage while still taking advantage of the low cost of living.
9. More Jobs Available. Companies dominate city towers, so going without a job is difficult. However, locating one that pays your high rent could be challenging. But a city with many businesses also has many job prospects. You’re likely to find one you adore. According to statistics, those who live in major cities have access to more job prospects than those who live in the suburbs or smaller towns.
10. Close to Restaurants. In cities, there is always a need for fine dining. Within a mile or two, you can find a cuisine you appreciate, from fast food franchises to fine dining restos.
Although the city’s dining cost is typically greater due to increased rent, many restaurants offer lunch and supper deals and have food vendors available. You’ll need to research to take advantage of the best bargains.

The Disadvantages of Living in a City

Those who frequently travel to or work in a big city are aware of how troublesome they may be. Large cities might be more challenging to navigate because of the increased population, traffic, and neighborhood density. The biggest drawbacks of living in a big metropolis are as follows:
1. High Cost of Living. When people consider moving to a city, the increased cost of living is usually the first drawback they consider. Ordinary living costs like rent and utilities tend to be higher in big cities, and you can have additional costs like parking permits and laundry that you wouldn’t have in the suburbs. Major cities also have higher prices for gasoline, alcohol, food, and tobacco items.
2. Noise. Major cities typically have higher noise levels than the suburbs. Cities produce greater noise due to increased traffic, more people, trains, and neighboring airports with noisy jets flying in and out. A neighborhood may become noisier and more crowded due to special events like concerts and sporting events.
3. Limited Space. Downsizing your living area is nearly always required when moving from the suburbs to the city. Most people reside in flats in big cities; in some places, the apartments might be smaller. Having an outdoor area like a patio or yard is also uncommon. Homes with decent-sized yards are available in big cities but are significantly more expensive than homes in the suburbs. If you want to live in a city, you must be okay with your neighbors being on the other side of your walls in an apartment complex.
4. Limited Parking Space. Parking in a big city is an enormous nuisance compared to the suburbs. In the suburbs, parking is permitted in driveways and on residential streets, and most companies offer parking lots for patrons to utilize. Parking is only sometimes guaranteed in large cities. Streets with free parking quickly fill up because certain residential streets only allow permit parking, which requires you to purchase a permit. Some apartments have a designated parking place, albeit they are uncommon. Also, it is uncommon for businesses to have parking lots, so you will probably have to pay to park somewhere on the street, possibly even a few streets from where you need to go.
Are City Center Apartments Still The Best Btl Investments In 2023? 12
5. Higher Auto-Vehicle Insurance Premiums. Congested city life will increase your chance of accidents if you must have a car and live in a city. As a result, city residents will pay a greater insurance premium than those who live in the suburbs.
6. Increasing Crime Rates. You can bet on urban locations to be riskier than smaller communities, even if some cities have higher crime rates than others. Crime increases with population.

The Current Situation of City Center Apartments

The majority of people concur that the real estate market has altered recently. Thus, it’s crucial to take into account a few factors when determining if new city center flats are still wise investments:
  1. The real estate sector, notably the market for apartments in cities, has been impacted by Covid. People’s preferences for where to live (and rent) and what kinds of properties have been impacted. Nowadays, more people are working remotely. Some workers no longer require access to an office. Hence, renting or buying a home in the city center or living there is no longer necessary.
  2. Some business offices in the city center have scaled back on their floor space. Less demand for city center flats may result from fewer individuals working in urban areas. The practice of hybrid working, where people work partially from home and partially from the office, is becoming more widespread. The same goes for flexible working, which allows employees to choose how much time they spend in the office each week. Often, newly constructed flats in city centers are small and need more space for working from home. In the so-called “race for space,” some city dwellers emigrated to the suburbs and the countryside to find more space.
Are City Center Apartments Still The Best Btl Investments In 2023? 13
  1. People became aware of the value of outdoor space for health and well-being because of Covid. Outdoor space is uncommon in newly constructed residences in city centers. Many people need easy access to public parks and other outdoor areas.
  2. Currently, some things could be improved regarding the direction of the economy. There may be less demand for housing in city centers if businesses that employ people there cut their workforces. In certain cities, proposals exist to develop thousands of additional brand-new apartments in the city center. Apartments in these places may be harder to lease due to high levels of new supply and low projected demand. It could imply that their worth has not increased as much as it would have (or they might even fall in value).
  3. Due to economic worries, apartment developers in the city center might opt to cut back their plans. Supplies could decrease. Future shortages of this kind of real estate may occur.
  4. Renters and builders compete. In some cities, build-to-rent, or BTR, is growing in acceptance. Large developers and financial entities fund and construct flats to be rented out rather than sold. Build-to-rent apartment buildings give private landlords in the city center additional competition in the rental market.
  5. Co-living projects, where investors construct towers of studio apartments with shared facilities, are starting to pop up in several city centers. They may increase the level of competition for apartment rentals.
  6. but are they still a wise investment? Here, we’ll examine the benefits and drawbacks of this specific property type.

2024.05.15 09:29 Various_Diamond5933 I (23F) worked in an unsanitary dental office for 3 years and had no idea how bad it truly was, advice on what to do..

I 23(F) worked for an 80(M) Dentist for about 3 years, and what I observed and endured as an employee during that time traumatized me and made me quit dental assisting in general, not because I didn't like it but because I loved it just not the dentist and I'm going to just break it down the best I can.
Starting off this specific dentist is really well known in my city, he has been practicing for 50 years now. However not much has changed in that 50 years. His office is so old that patients will come in from 1989 and say how not a single thing has been updated or changed. The floor is carpeted with rotting wood underneath and he just doesn't care. He has like creepy dolls all around the office and creepy clowns. I almost feel like he won't change anything because he wants to still feel like he's in his prime like it's the 80's/90's still.
He denies the fact that he's getting older, he says he is 44 years old when physically and literally he is not. So maybe this is some type of symptoms of a disorder. This is just some background so you can understand the full picture.
So he only hires women of lighter complexions, also certain body size, small not to skinny but curvy but not too big. You have to have long blown out hair that's always fixed, his old rule used to be that you could not wear your hair up bc it's not appealing to him. Also you can't wear glasses for the same reason. If you were trying to get a girl to work there he would have to see a picture of her first and she couldn't have tattoos or "bad teeth" even though he would put braces on staff members for free and I witnessed that, if it was "too much" the person would be a no for him. Even having a simple nose ring was against his rules.
I started working for him when I was 19 turning 20. So I was pretty young and didn't really realize until later that all of this was just so toxic and it gets worse. And so when I found out my pregnancy was healthy I announced it and they decided to not train me on patients for pretty much my entire pregnancy because they thought i would just have my baby and leave
After being post partum and working while also being a first time mom to a baby, I begin to lose a lot of weight because I guess I was stressed. I went from being my normal weight 135 to 116 pounds.
The doctor would comment on my body and say things about my weight loss in front of patients. It made me very insecure and uncomfortable two things I have never felt in my life at a job. I started to have body dysmorphia from working for this man. When he looked at me it felt as if he was staring through me and picking me apart. And no one should I have to feel like that in the work place.
I fell into a deep depression because feeling like I can't go find a new job because as terrible as it sounds, I was attached to the toxic abuse cycle there. He would love bomb and compliment you so heavily that you almost felt bad for thinking of leaving cuz he was so old. He would say things like how much he loved your personality, you were the best employee, best with patients. It was definitely creepy. Also I felt as if I were to try to leave he would be upset or it felt like I was breaking a trusted bond. So I continued working and things...got worse
Enough about my personal experience but now for the patients. The doctor treated each patient nothing more than a dollar sign. Unless they were a known person in the community, a family friend, he would give them treatment but if they had questions or concerns about their teeth he would be very dismissive, and if they argued back he would pretty much belittle them and make them feel like they were stupid for asking a question. Saying what they wanted was "impossible" because that's "the way their teeth were". I watched him take braces off of patients and their teeth were still not aligned properly, I watched him accidentally set a patient on fire, I watched him give a girl bone loss, she lost her tooth because of something he did incorrectly.
Not to mention his entire staff has not been to any type of dental school, every single person hired basically with no experience. I was told because he couldn't "afford it", yet the man has multiple million dollar homes and luxury cars....
To even scam us further he sent us to take a super lax unsupervised "test" that he said would make us certified assistants. Came to find out that was nothing more than a piece of paper.
Not to mention probably more things he has done, like practicing half blind, also urinating on himself daily and it being reported and nothing done about it.The sterilization was absolutely horrifying. Their method is not to use an autoclave but to throw all dirty instruments in a basket and throw them in an old machine that had sterilization and water and put them through an oven baking them.
Also cold sterile which was not monitored properly, and did not soak for 24 hours. Sometimes 5-10 minutes. I just got so tired of not only him being misogynistic, but not caring for health and safety of patients, or even staff members.
And the rest of the current staff members, my heart does hurt for them for them to be in this kind of abusive cycle for so long and not want to remove themselves and realize they deserve better. This kind of environment should not be normalized. And I've watch him say god awful things about every single one of them behind their back and it's honestly sad. Why would you stand by this especially for the incredibly low amounts of pay.
Making yourself look weak to him while he sits back and laughs. It's really sad and I pray for them. And I'm telling the truth and stand by it on everything I say. No I did not get fired, I quit the job. Because I couldn't take the negativity any longer. But the more I think about it the more it angers me for people that give their money to this man.
Im currently enrolled in the Dental Hygiene program at a college. I'm really excited to become a an RDH but the thing is I'm scared working for him and just cold quitting will ruin my career. Also My question is should I report him to OSHA?

2024.05.15 09:28 Yurii_S_Kh Nikola, the only student at his school: “I mind the goats and play chess”. Travel notes from Kosovo and Metohija.

Nikola, the only student at his school: “I mind the goats and play chess”. Travel notes from Kosovo and Metohija.
Nikola Stankovic
“Have a good trip! Will you be so kind to bring me a chess set the next time you come? A deal?” This is what Nikola Stankovic told us when we parted the last time as we were leaving Slivova near Pristina. This is the place we return to once the opportunity presents itself.
It’s true that we come here often—to the suburb of the once glorious city of Pristina, once the intellectual, industrial, and cultural center of our Kosovo… People used to come here from everywhere, as the city attracted professors, engineers, writers, and artists. Before, Pristina was known for its flourishing cultural life, just as today it’s buzzing with commercial and shopping activity—full of intrusive and aggressive advertising by foreign companies, probably the only ones who benefit from the war. “Nuk ka me Pristine” (Albanian)—“Pristina is no more!” was the title of a novel published on the twentieth anniversary of the “March pogrom“ of Serbs. Serbs remember how yesterday’s neighbors, colleagues, and friends chased them out of their then Serbian city.
Things are no better in the suburbs of Pristina; they are completely cut off from the city. The nearby villages are dying out, standing isolated from the outside world and kept away from the blessings of civilization. Many Serbs were forced to leave or flee their homes. Many of them have died. Many of their houses were burned down… The tiny village of Slivova is a place where you can still hear people speak Serbian.
A Serbian school for a single student
“It used to be so wonderful here before the war! People worked in factories and in agriculture. Our village was bustling with life and there were a lot of children. I had more than twenty students in my class, and we are talking about a village school! But these days, after the war… Consider it a desert; everyone has moved or fled away,” Nikola's father tells us. He speaks of Serbs when he says “everyone,” as with every passing day, more and more Albanians settle into Slivova. For a long time now, the village is more than half Albanian. They come from the city in search of a quiet life and clean air, and they firmly settle here. I asked if there were any clashes. No, he replies, not yet, but who knows.
Basically, why would they want clashes when Serbs are already on the move, leaving their homeland behind. “Soon we will be left all alone. Our children have no future here. My older sons, for example, have long been living and working elsewhere.”
Nikola, the third son and the only school student in Slivova, is in seventh grade. We ask our old friend how he is doing.
“I mind the goats and play chess. Sometimes I look after Dragan, my younger brother (there are four brothers in his family), but he doesn't always listen to me!”
A young shepherd. A kind one
We are walking with our seventh-grader to his school, now located in a house left behind by a Serb. Since 1999, Serbian children never returned to their classes in their old school. It is the result of the “optimization of Serbian education,” the Kosovar way. We “snatched” Nikola for a short while—pulling him away from his herd. His youngest brother Dragan worthily replaced his brother in the line of shepherd duty. We sat down with him on a bench nearby to play a game of chess, Nikola’s favorite pastime. He admitted, embarrassed, that he sometimes played chess with his teacher at his “new” school, as well. But once he entered high school grades, he played against the computer, his main rival. It is not much of a conversation partner, but at least it offers an interesting game of chess.
We met Nikola for the first time three years ago. He won’t make friends with you lightly, or for no reason at all; it took him a while to grow accustomed to us. Village folk are like that. But once they get to know you, you can’t find a better friend. It was the same this time. When he saw us, he didn't say much, but his eyes shone with such joy that no words were necessary. And he is always trying to give us gifts.
“I recently went to a soccer game in Gracanica; my dad took me there. It was really great! Teachers come to the village every day, well, to teach me. So, I'm learning. What else can I do?”
Nikola
Nikola is one of our “trailblazers”. He took part in the summer school camp organized last year for Serbian children from Kosovo and Metohija by our charity organization called “Kosovo Pomoravlje.” Everything went well, but, as we have noticed, these children couldn’t get enough of playing soccer with their peers from other ghettos. For them, soccer is an important thing, a way to interact, no matter how you cut it. We asked him if he’s going to attend our summer school this year.
“I sure will! Only if you have more soccer time!”
We finish the chess game and say our goodbyes. We leave Nikola with his herd, kings and queens, and a chessboard under his armpit. We already know what we’ll bring him when, God willing, we come here next time: soccer cleats and a football. We wave and honk… and hope that we will be able to bring together the boys and girls from the enclaves of Kosovo and Metohija in our summer school. And yes, they’ll have more soccer time there—we’ve learned our lesson well.

What is a Wazifa?
A wazifa is a form of Islamic prayer or spiritual chant which is recited uninterrupted for a certain period of time to make one's desires or wishes be realized. Wazifa is a work of the prophets that has been approved by Allah and the continuous recitation of Quranic verses and prayers for a long time is included. • It is necessary to be able to sustain the wazifa of 101 times a day for 7 consecutive days without any interruption. Consistency is key.
    • Choose a tranquil, neat area in your home that will not be interrupted or a hindrance for the wazifa.

Here are step-by step guidelines to follow for this wazifa: 7 days wazifa for marriage
  1. Start the class by saying “Bismillah hir Rahman nir Raheem” and you will call the Allah in the front of the class.
  2. The process of three times blow of Durood Shareef was repeated. Thus, the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) is doing the service of Allah. For example, "Allah, then our beloved prophet Muhammad and his companions".
  3. The idea of the Surah Ikhlas is obviously in the mind at least three times, clearly. This is the chapter that actually validates the concept of Allah's oneness.
  4. Read the following verse from the Quran 101 times: "God, let my wife and the others who are from the offended and humiliated group, get together and pray and cry. "
This verse translates to: "Our Lord, be with us, from our family members, give us the comfort in our eyes and the ability to become leaders of the righteous. "
  5. In the short term, you should ask God for the forgiveness of your sins, Bless the prophet (DUROOD SHARIF) and ask for your wish to be granted.
    1. Carry out this habit every day at the same time and place and follow it for a week. Have faith and consistency.
On the very last day, it is more helpful to pray 100 times and strive to focus on each one. After the wazifah, you may chew a sweet thing yourself thus to complete the ritual. The wazifa will definitely be successful with the active involvement of really devoted people who are the creation of Allah insha Allah

2024.05.15 09:23 midnitedesperadoIV I Don’t think I can move for love

I know I should be talking with my partner about this but I like to lurk on the internet. So my current predicament needs some background. Roughly two years ago I was in a serious relationship for 7 years and my gf at the time (I’m a male) came out to me as gay and moved across the country not too soon after telling me ( we shared a house together and we weren’t married). I think we ended amicably at the end but it still hurt me. During that time I owned a home and hated my job. All of the above occurred in the summer of 2022. As soon as I quit my job and sold my house I started to an accelerated medical program also in 2022. This is where my issue starts. A girl I know we’ll say her name is “Tamara” asked me to be FWB.
Tamara knew me from the previous job but in process of her moving up in the company she moved to South Carolina. I currently live up north in the US. So she got in contact with me and wanted to come to the place I moved back to, to come and visit. I said sure because we were pretty good friends. (I want to add the medical program I’m in gives me the ability to work anywhere in the US so I can chose where I complete my clinical hours. This comes into play later).
The first visit nothing happened between us. In between visits she asks to be FWB I say yes but tells me it can be messy. I agree. This goes on for a year and a half. Mid way point last year because our relationship was just exclusively FWB we discussed at the beginning that we were free to seek other people out. So I went on few dates. Tamara was not happy with me so I ended up stopping the dates in between her visits. At the point when I stopped the dates I was about to start my clinical rotations and I had an interview for a site coming up. I was unable to get matched in an area near South Carolina which is what Tamara wanted so we could be close. I matched at a place up North an hour from me. So throughout my clinical rotation Tamara has been “gently” encouraging me to move in with her in South Carolina.
I have some concerns about moving because I know the area is saturated for the medical job I have and it’s damn near impossible for new grads to get work. So I press on through the program. 1/3 of the way through. I get a message saying we need to talk. I get a phone call from Tamara saying she has an STD and I should get checked. Needless to say I was not happy. A week later I got checked and had it also. I was beside myself. I knew I was being an idiot and I know people make mistakes but I definitely got checked after our encounters but I digress. After this things seemed to have cooled a little. With news of the STD I told her fuck it I’ll just move down after I graduate but I’m still struggling with the idea of fully committing to moving there because of the struggles I will face. Now currently I have a few weeks left of my program and I want to change my mind about moving down and I know it will break her heart but I was doing what was right for her and not for myself. So would I be the asshole for calling things off and staying put to get work experience?
TLDR: I ended a long term relationship. I got into medical school that allows me to work anywhere in the US. An old co-worker hits me up to hang but we live in different states. We become FWB. I get an STD from our interactions which soured my mood a little. I tell her I will move down to be closer to date but now I want to take it back because I know how hard it will be to get a job where she lives currently and I’m not sure I can commit to the things she wants.
Thanks for reading and sorry for any typos! I am writing this pretty late at night.

2024.05.15 09:19 kimikupkake Cat heart failure

I've just got home from having to put down my cat with unexpected heart failure. This is my third cat to pass in 6 months.
Last September I woke up to my special guy having passed overnight. Given his position, it was fast and I was heartbroken. He had many conditions but we thought he was stable however he wasn't expected to live a long life.
Last November, another one of my cats was hiding under my bath panting. In the 90 minutes it took me to get to an emergency vet, she deteriorated considerably and she was put to sleep due to bring in end stages of heart failure. She was absolutely fine up until that day.
In January, I took my remaining cat to the vet for a full check up, with a specific instruction to listen to his heart. He passed with flying colors, just needed to lose a little weight. I took him in for a recheck last week as he had lost weight. He was a bit wheezy and had fast heart rate but he was also stressed from the travel. Blood test came back fine, but he was given prednil for IBS. His second dose was 6am today. By 10am he was breathing 60x a minute. He was happy, eating, purring, sitting in the sun. I brushed him and he looked fine. No blue gums or panting. Could make it from the bedroom to the dining room and up gps scratching post. Vet advised to monitor. No change by 11. At 130 vet recommended I bring him in in case steroids have affected a previously hidden heart murmur.
In the 30 minutes it took me to drive him to the vet, he went downhill fast and there was no time to even remove him from his cage. He had very low blood pressure and it barely took 2ml to work. He was retching, foaming and spasming and it was the kindest thing to do.
I'm not sure what I expect out of posting this. I just need to get it out. I'm absolutely heartbroken. I feel like I should have done more, like I'm a bad cat mum because I'm at 3 for 3 now. It's so scary how it can progress in hours. Please if you comment, go easy on me. I'm beating myself up as it is.

2024.05.15 09:19 Strange-Library9722 Mother stuck in abusive home

Mother stuck in abusive home
Hello everyone , I’m going to be explaining my mother’s situation and I would really appreciate any updated advice that I can get to help her and let her know her options. She has already seen a lawyer , but she has some things that she is afraid of that I’ll list below. I appreciate any help I can get.
My mother has been married to this man for 16 years , she has two children with him. One is 7 and the other is 16. He has a history of abuse from hitting her years ago , he threw her down the stairs and bruised her up but she decided to stay but we already know that this cannot be used in court because it isn’t recent. He hasn’t been coming home at decent hours and we believe he is cheating , when this was brought up he went from 0-100 and threatened to kick me out for asking him if he was cheating on her while he was gone so I know it must be true but he has cheated before as well.
There was an incident a few months ago , he was in the bedroom alone and the 7yr old went upstairs to check on him. He was laying there cold lips pale as he took something and was OD’ing. As the paramedics arrived they asked questions but we had no clue what he took , he OD’d on fent. They asked him if he took anything but he kept getting upset with them and lied and said no but they let my mom know he did take something because the Narcan revived him. He has a history of hiding lighters , and bongs around the house. He doesn’t think clearly and operates like a child and cannot communicate healthy for the life of him. She fears she won’t be able to make it because he pays all the bills while she takes care of things at home but he sends her nasty texts. I’ll include everything.
She knows she can get alimony and child support but what she wants is to be guaranteed full custody of her children , he’s not responsible and only cares for himself. She takes the children to school everyday and is in need of new brakes and car maintenance but he took care of his first even though she let him know. He’s an ugly person and wanted to kick out her SISTER for having a good time. My sister and mother were both having a drink at home and he knows the sister was intoxicated he obviously doesn’t care if she is safe or not. I just would like any advice to get rid of this ugly man. If anything needs to be elaborated on feel free to ask I’m tired of seeing her lose her life in front of my eyes. Thank you all

2024.05.15 09:16 Exact-Anybody1734 My brother has turned into a pretentious jerk

Hi Reddit, so I’ll try to keep this as concise as possible while still giving you all the facts. Let us start from the beginning, my at the time 21 y.o. step-brother, was going through his first big break up. Instead of confiding in others or taking time to understand his emotions he instead picked up a book about the stages of love. Let me also explain that my brother has never been the smartest guy and mainly gets by on his good looks and charm in his life. Anyway this book gave the usual “love requires fighting to work it shows that you care about the other” you know stuff everyone already knows. I’m guessing because it came from a book ,or because it was plainly saying what he was too naive to understand about what he was feeling, he became infatuated with every line. Anytime I would have relationship problems he would quote the self help books he had read since and recommend me ones to read. This went on for while but eventually I finished nursing school and moved out of my family’s house (which is my mother’s house, this is important for later) to start working.
Now fast forward to four years later. I’m living on my own with my the love of my life, working the night shift in the hospital like I’ve always wanted. On my way home on night I called my mom to catch up on my drive home. We started talking and eventually I asked about my step-brother. She explained that he was still living at home and had no plans on getting a job or moving out (for context my brother graduated with a master’s degree a year ago). I found that odd and asked what he is doing now. My mom explained that he just makes music and does podcasts with his friends. He apparently says he wants to be an entrepreneur. Which is fine everyone wants to make it big doing what they love doing however. My mother also explained that he constantly invites people she doesn’t know to her house to hangout and when she gets off of work she comes home to strangers that expect her to cook for them. My mother then started tearing up saying “I don’t feel like it’s my house anymore”. That’s when I got upset. I asked her why doesn’t she kick him out or at least start asking for rent so he has to get a job. She explained that she wanted to do that but my step father wouldn’t allow it. My mother and step father have a wonderful marriage and never fight, but because my stepbrother is his son he has attachment to him. My mom recently had to kick her daughter (my blood related sister) into the camper as well since my step sister (19 y.o.) lets her boyfriend stay on weekends in what used to be the girls room. My mother keeps explaining that all of these situations are putting stress on their marriage and by kicking out her daughter she feels like she betrayed her just so my stepfather’s kids can get their way in her house.
After this phone call I was livid so I called my step brother to confront him. After asking the normal “hi how are you” I asked if he has started looking for a job and he said “why would I?”. I responded “so you can work and move out”. Then he said “im in my 20s this is the time you are supposed to chase your dreams” he then pointed out that I always wanted to be a YouTuber or streamer and I should go for it. I then said you know I have a job now and I have to give that job a lot of my time in order to afford the life I live. He basically laughed and explained that there is always enough time. Not much important was said after that.
Now fast forward a few weeks later I see posts from his Instagram talking about how “social media is poison, take back your life, put down your phone, etc.” (Crazy to post that on social media btw). I have also come across his podcast which are just him and his friend who both have the combined IQ of a beheaded chicken explain that the universe is big and has like billions of stars and stuff. 0.0 his entire personality now is saying basic facts at the surface level and then acting like it’s deep as fuck. Furthermore the constant insistence on following your passion mixed with the complete ineptitude of being able to comprehend how smug and pretentious he is during any interaction has breed some real distain from anyone who can see through his act.
All of these posts about self help combined with the complete ignorance of how his actions putting a negative effect on our family has really put a barrier between us. I really don’t think I can take it anymore and I want to either try to explain that he has become a pretentious douche who only keeps around yes men who all think a fact for 5th graders they learn at the zoo makes them better than everyone else, but I honestly think he will just say I don’t understand or maybe I should read this book about stress. I’ve went over the situation with friends of mine and they all laugh when they see his posts and hear him talk now. For God sake he held his 25th birthday party recently and said for everyone to bring a book to exchange knowledge to one another and wear business casual.
I just want my mom to feel like the home she worked tirelessly as a single mother all those years to afford for our family is hers. I have always been so close to my brother and I want him back as a friend. I want my sister to be able to live in the house she was raised in instead of in a camper.
Well that’s everything as of now left out a lot of stories about him being directly wrong about facts he tells us or times he got called out and embarrassed about shit but I think I’ll just leave it here. I plan on confronting him soon I just don’t know what to say. Thank you for your time.

2024.05.15 09:13 Beautiful_Location76 How do you interpret these bars from Kendrick's America Has a Problem verse?

Say Bey, yes, America got a problem Geeked up, choosy love, well, they chose violence Universal, please don't play possum I'm a businеssman doin' as follows
I noticed at least six or seven bars in Kendrick's recent diss tracks opposing the music industry, from very simple bars like "I'll crash out like fuck rap," "fuck you n***** and fuck the industry too," and "the industry can hate me, fuck em all and they mama," to what feels like a foreboding line in "the industry's cooked as I pick the carcass apart," and then obviously the more detailed demonization that makes up a lot of the second verse of Meet the Grahams. I've honestly really been wondering if these could be hints that his upcoming project will further explore corruption and depravity in the music industry and if his criticism of Drake was just a precursor, but that question could have a whole thread to itself.
With these themes in mind though, these bars stuck out to me when I listened to America Has a Problem again recently, but I'm honestly not sure what to make of them.
The most obvious line to consider is "Universal, please don't play possum." Were there any specific events going on at the time of this track's release that he might be referring to? Do you think he was already planning to go against Drake or the music industry at the time of writing this, and this will be one of those bars that is a lot more interesting down the line than it was initially? Anything else I or other fans might not be aware of here?
He sets interesting context for this line by referencing the title of the track and declaring that America indeed has a problem, and then elaborating that an ambiguous "they" have chosen violence. (Who is they? America as a whole? Pop culture? The music industry again? Universal specifically?) Then he follows up with the businessman line, which I also don't really know what to make of. Maybe the "doing as follows" bit is meant to be read as him having issues with the industry, but also recognizing the need for him to play the game (do as follows) to a certain extent in order to maintain his influence.
Who knows, maybe a few of these lines just weren't meant to be looked into that deeply, and he was just flowing, but Kendrick has conditioned me to really investigate what he might have in mind when he writes, and given the context of his recent songs and his attitude about the music industry, I'd be really curious to see if anyone has any extra thoughts about these lines that might give them more context or fill us in on what Kendrick is getting at here.
Do you think his next project will expand further on his issues with the music industry? I think that could be a fascinating angle to hear Kendrick's perspective on, especially considering again that there seems to be a lot of behavior going on behind the scenes that he takes issue with.
Edit: Right as I posted this, I considered that "doing as follows" may actually reference his next few lines:
Truthfully, I be lyin' in my rap song 'Cause I always fail to mention I'd slap homiе His career didn't come with no life insurance Hope his day one fans got some facts on him
Maybe this was also a hint that he was going to go at Drake and potentially others soon. He's acknowledging that he has built a very peaceful persona, but wants to remind us that he'll still slap homie if necessary, as he has clearly proven in the past couple of weeks. Those last two bars could even be taken as directly talking about Drake, saying that his career isn't big enough to protect his life itself (either from literal death or from fucking his life up by messing with minors and/or sex traffickers), and that he hopes Drake's biggest fans come to realize what he's actually been doing. Those same bars don't just have to reference Drake though, the same could be said for any big artists who Kendrick is anticipating being convicted of awful stuff down the line. So perhaps "doing as follows" was meant to prepare us for this brief exploration of how/why he'll slap homie.

2024.05.15 09:09 LucarioOfLegends [100 Girlfriends] No, body swapping is not an excuse to bypass consent.

100 Girlfriends is a series that I think is pretty neat, considering its been my hyperfixation for the past couple of years. It's very much a solid riff at the genre of harem romcoms and takes at lot of time to actually break down each member of its cast and really ask how their character quirks really affect them, eventually transforming into world's weirdest group dynamic, where more attention is given towards how each girl interacts with each other as the cast expands ever further. Though that doesn't stop the showcases of sheer love and dedication that Rentarou is willing to convey every time he gets the spotlight. Also its funny as hell.
Hardly means its perfect though, as people have pointed out the many flaws of the story, including its pacing, the questionable nature of its relationships due to the age gaps and familial relations, as well as a general dislike of the whole 100 soulmates plot device. I'd love to discuss and refute these point in a later post (particularly the last one boy do I have counterarguments to certain objections) but this prelude is long enough as is, so let's get talking about the main subject of this rant: Chapter 119 aka Fondle Festival 2.
Momiji Momi is the 15th girlfriend introduced, and she has a naturally contentious main quirk. She is a training masseuse with a fascination for soft things, a fascination that spreads specifically to the body parts of others. This results in a penchant towards groping both the girls and Rentarou alike, usually with no direct ask to do so from Momiji.
This is a questionable trait and runs the natural risk of turning her into a Mineta, but a few different factors keep it decently justifiable. The main point here is she is constantly giving out massages to Rentarou's Family and others, usually before any sort of inappropriate gropage. Hell, her first interaction was Rentarou finding her after massaging the school's entire tennis team, who had literally collapsed from the sheer pleasure and relief of the massage, and in her introduction to the group proper she straight up offers to massage the rest of the cast first and foremost, and only after is the cast willing to offer up their bodies for feeling up. It takes on a sort of transactional exchange, the cast gets free massages from Momiji, and Momiji gets to indulge in her urge to touch where she wants (sans probably the d and the v). And the entire cast seems pretty fine with it, not really reacting after a while most of the time.
Momiji also isn't just focused on the fanservice bits; her penchant for soft things stretches to bouncy house, hot buns, bread dough, and Nami boob mouse pads. Even just looking at the human body she is interested is far from boobs and butts, going to cheeks, stomachs, hands, arms, and backs. While she still is there to highlight the goods when the time comes, Momiji comes off much more than a character exclusively meant to justify fanservice, even if she is debatably the simplest and flattest girl of the main cast so far.
Enter Fondle Festival 2, generally considered one of the series few actual misses chapter wise alongside the obnoxious introductory chapters of Chiyo as well as Beef Tongue, which I could write an entire other rant about so help me god. But Fondle Festival 2 has its status for a reason, as it very much murks up the ideas of consent.
To keep things brief, Momiji ends up swapping bodies with Rentarou through the powers of a convenient drug brewed up by resident ridiculous scenario causer Kusuri, and immediately goes to grope the boobs of every single girl on the rooftop with her new boy hands without the girls realizing its Momiji for a significant amount of time and absolutely without them giving a clear thumbs up.
Consent is a bit of a grey area in 100 Girlfriends more generally, mainly because as a gag series it does have a status quo that it needs to maintain for its cast. Usually most characters are pretty good about their ridiculous demands in terms of directly asking about it, but no matter how many times the characters say no or tell them to stop, such questions and actions will of course continue in the next chapter simply due to wanting to be able to pull out those traits for jokes again. Momiji herself is a perpetrator considering how often her groping is considered a gag in a panel even if it is making the characters uncomfortable, though she is far from the worst offender (looking at you Hahari). For the most part characters are willing to call out stuff that is actively bad and say in pretty uncertain terms that its terrible, but this stuff still does happen due to the nature of the genre and how characters are defined.
In the context of Fondle Festival 2, the girls in question are...mostly okay with it? They acknowledge that this is a weird situation and bunch actually take advantage of said situation to fulfill their less than kosher desires, and by the end its revealed that basically all of them caught onto what had happened and were totally taking advantage of it.
The problems start with only most of the girlfriends being okay with it. Uto completely breaks her chuuni bard persona and is left frozen in shock at such an event, unclear if she was okay with it. Several girls try to get Momiji to stop and get an unwanted grope because of it, and Mimimi straight up slaps Momiji (who Mimimi assumed was Rentarou) and insinuates for them to stop, but Momiji continues undetered. Multiple girls very clearly and explicitly give a sign that they are not okay with this and they need to stop, yet Momiji continues to make them feel uncomfortable.
My largest problem, however, is when you realize that Momiji is using Rentarou's body for this. Rentarou is a bastion of chastity in essentially every regard, going to frankly ridiculous length to prevent any sexual advances from the girls or himself. He straight up does not allow himself to think of the girls in a sexual if he can allow it, as he sees it as demeaning of the girls themselves and that would be a failure on his part. Is it a kind of ridiculous belief? Yes. Is it still his own belief that he holds up to the best of his ability? Also yes, and that needs to be respected.
Fondle Festival 2, in my humble opinion, does not respect that belief in a really frustrating way. I can't say for certain what good body swapping etiquette is, but I don't imagine that going off in someone else body and doing something that stands directly against their characterization, especially since Rentarou was knocked out for most of this, and Momiji even ends up groping Rentarou/her own chest, which makes this even murkier.
Momiji does end up getting some level of comeuppance by the end of the chapter through a taste of her own medicine and she fully apologizes to the girls about the whole incident in the bonus page of the chapter, but I'd argue the damage has been done and it doesn't stop the gross feeling I got when reading the chapter, either the original japanese raws or the translated version.
While I can shrug off a lot about this series, this flagrant ignoring of both the girls and Rentarou in this situation for the sake of a bit did not jive with me. Consent is important y'all.
