2024.05.29 06:50 DAFRIDGEY Children’s picture book, Rabbit

Hello,
I’m trying to remember a picture book my mother read to me as a kid in early 2000s. It was about a rabbit and I remember this one chapter where an alligator bit the rabbits tail off. It was a picture book with great detail for the illustrations. I believe the cover was of a rabbit with a yellow background? Idk. Please help if you can lol.

2024.05.29 06:49 MrMagnificentMedia [PC] [1990] A car game where you drove on hills?

I am looking for an old PC game. I believe me and my brothers used to play it on my dad's old Siemens laptop. The game should be from 90s - early 2000s.
It was a car game, I think visually it was similar to Need for Madness. I think I remember playing with an SUV, it had a blocky design, as in, no details. Just a plain solid coloured car. Maybe green?
Or am I remembering the solid green hills that I had to manoeuvre around?
I think some enemy vehicles would chase you. And I think I remember finding the game, or at least this part of the game rather difficult. I think the skybox of this level was orange-yellow, to emulate a sunset. I may be remembering things wrong, though.
Does anyone know what game I am talking about? :)

2024.05.29 06:35 blurryturtle 2024 Roland Garros Women's Singles Round Two Wednesday Matches

Wednesday WTA matches are below. I'll put the Thursday matches up tomorrow in the evening EST.

Swiatek vs Osaka :

Iga Swiatek will have a very high profile matchup in round two, and it should be entertaining tennis. Osaka has played admirably in her return to clay. She’s trying her best, she’s problem-solving on court, she’s complimentary to her opponents, and she’s winning matches. To do all that post-pregnancy and post-clay struggles is a great thing in itself, and it’s good to see her enjoying tennis again. Her backhand inside out remains one of the best on tour, and her serve and power are enough to making this interesting. 3 sets with Bronzetti indicates she probably won’t get within striking distance of Swiatek, but Bronzetti will make you really earn a win so it’s a solid second round performance.
The courts in RG are playing slow, and as DC insider redswader pointed out, the rainy conditions are making them even slower. It makes it really tough to hit through Swiatek, and she isn’t just a defensive test. She has the windmill forehand technique that Rafa made famous, and her backhand moves the ball well and is fairly hard to read. This should be fun, but Swiatek in 2 by at least 3 breaks.

Fett vs Bouzkova :

If you like 20 shot rallies, this is the match for you. Jana Fett has tons of experience, and is finding herself back on tour for the first time in a while. She’s a solid baseliner, and is playing someone who is best described as a wall. Bouzkova rarely misses with her backhand, and her defense and speed are good enough to keep her consistently in the top 50 on tour. Bouzkova is expected to be the stronger player here, but I don’t see a great way for her to win quickly. Her serve isn’t particularly great, and Fett beat a solid player in Bouzas Maneiro. Bouzkova in 2-3.

Golubic vs Potapova :

Big surprise for Golubic to beat Krejcikova in round one, and yet not a surprise at all for Krejcikova to lose in round one. Barbora has been really inconsistent for a while now, and Golubic is more than capable of keeping the ball moving enough to benefit if Krejcikova is spraying errors. Annnnnnnd she was. 51 unforced errors in total, although 34 winners is also pretty impressive.
Potapova won’t help Golubic win here, and she just hit through a similar test in Kamila Rakhimova. Potapova hits real big, and she’s hungry for these wins. I expect her to win in 2.

Wang Xinyu vs Tomova :

Tomova was expected to give Alexandrova trouble, but Alexandrova forgot to give Tomova trouble. It sets up a very winnable second round for Tomova. She hits a heavy heavy forehand and on these slow courts it really works. Wang is through after besting Niemeier in 3, and while she’s not at her best on clay, she has good enough tennis to win. This reminds me a bit of the Arnaldi Fils match. Wang has the game to beat Tomova if she’s patient, but she tends to go big a bit too often for clay and Tomova’s game doesn’t really fluctuate. Alexandrova is a better win than Wang on paper, but Alexandrova helped by making errors. I expect this to be closer. Tomova in 3.

Collins vs Danilovic :

Collins’ run continues. Danilovic is playing sharp, but the type of pressure that Danielle Collins applies can really bother anyone on tour. Danilovic needs to keep her first serve percentage high, and last round it was only at 59%. That’s not bad, but you want it higher against Collins. The good thing for Olga is she might be able to put some pressure on Collins’ serve with the power she has from the baseline, but the bad news is she’s lefty and going crosscourt will get her in trouble since Danielle loves to trade crosscourt with her backhand and tends to create a larger angle and more depth on every subsequent swing. Collins in 2.

Vekic vs Kostyuk :

Vekic got a forfeit, and playing fresh can be a big advantage. Kostyuk and her both have a similar approach. They hit hard, the end. Vekic does have dropshots at her disposal, but I think Kostyuk is a slightly better mover and in these slow conditions it’ll be tough to hit through her. A long match with Pigossi will have her hitting well also, so Kostyuk in 3.

Siniakova vs Paquet :

Huge surprise win for Paquet in round one, and I realized today I’ve been spelling her name wrong for a while (adding the c before the q). Sorry about that. Anyway, beating Shnaider is great, but I did not catch much of the match so I’m not sure how that happened. Siniakova is projected to win here, and aside from the Shnaider result there’s not much to argue against that. Somehow they’ve played twice with Katerina winning both, but those wins were in 2016-17. Siniakova in 2, but I would get too specific with any predictions here since Paquet is playing at home and her game is entirely built around her serve.

Volynets vs Vondrousova :

Volynets and Vondrousova has the potential to last 2 hours even if it’s a straight setter. Vondrousova has more ways to score here, but Volynets commitment to defense has elevated her game. Those little squash gets and lobs might get dismissed once, but having to execute over and over can draw errors, and Volynets speed can make people force shots. Vondrousova isn’t exactly automatic on her offense. Despite the hype, Volynets will have a really hard time scoring on Marketa, so I think extending rallies is the best she can do. Vondrousova in 2-3.

Gauff vs Zidansek :

Gauff didn’t bother with her usual slow start here. As she gets more comfortable on tour, the rough performances are less and less frequent, and she rights the ship and wins some of those anyway. Zidansek was a clay specialist and a mainstay on tour, but her game has fallen off a bit due to some injuries and inactivity. This should be fun, but Gauff should be a break better in each set. Gauff in 2.

Wang Yafan vs Yastremska :

Big win for Wang in round one. She’s ranked 68 now, but just a season ago she was winning Challenger events and hinting at a move inside the top 100. Wins at majors are hard to come by, so this was great for her. Her variety and defensive style might give Yastremska a bit of trouble here. Yastremska is supposed to win though, and she’ll have ample time to figure it out. Yastremska in 2-3.

Samsonova vs Anisimova :

Samsonova crushed Linette in round one and is a deserved favorite here, but Anisimova’s win should not be overlooked. Sramkova almost beat Ostapenko (third set tb) and has been one of the big surprises in the clay swing. Anisimova has a decent chance to beat Samsonova here but it will take her best tennis. Samsonova didn’t face a breakpoint in round one, and will likely continue to play well here. Anisimova has the h2h 2-0, but both were close. Conditions are better for Samsonova, and while I’m expecting this to be very close there really isn’t a result that would surprise me here. Both players’ levels can deviate a great deal, and both are lights out when their offense is flowing. Samsonova in 3.

Bucsa vs Cocciaretto :

Haddad Maia continues to struggle to close matches out. Cocciaretto was down a set against her but managed to win in three. It wasn’t smooth sailing and there were a number of breaks exchanged, but Haddad never really regained her best form. It sets up an interesting match against one of the tour’s more unsung but likely phenoms. Cristina Bucsa hits the ball huge despite appearing to only weight about 15 pounds. Her frame is light, but she will hit winner after winner when she’s in a rhythm. This matchup is all offense.
Cocciaretto has a better backhand and a better serve, but Bucsa moves better and ended the match with Starodubtseva in excellent form. Vaguely expecting this to go 3, but it’ll require Bucsa to avoid the errors that had her down a break early against Staro. Bucsa in 3. Feels wrong to type is but I think she’s ready to win.

Ostapenko vs Tauson :

Their two previous meetings have gone three sets, and both are playing decent. Ostapenko isn’t at the level that won her a RG title in 2017, but her offense is big enough to give Tauson trouble. Tauson probably isn’t quick enough to defend against Ostapenko’s onslaught, but her serving is good enough to keep her out of trouble for some portion of the match. Basically, neither player can run down their opponent’s power. I think Ostapenko actually has more stamina in this matchup, which is rare to say. Ostapenko in 3.

Kenin vs Garcia :

Another really hard match here. Kenin has beaten Garcia in all three of their meetings, but none of them were on clay and her current level should be considered independent of all earlier performances. Kenin is not the same player that challenged for major titles, and from round to round her level can disappear. She won a surprise in round one against Siegemund, and that’s actually the level she’d need to give Garcia trouble.
Garcia needs to isolate Kenin’s forehand to win this. Her own forehand is her best weapon, and if she’s serving well she should win the match. For Kenin, she needs to keep the ball in difficult spots for Garcia. Height, slices, and dropshots. Force Garcia to create her own power, because if you give Garcia pace she redirects incredibly well. Expecting another 3 setter here. Garcia in Garthreeya? Awful, awful joke. The h2h makes me think I’m wrong, but Garcia has simpler ways to score here. I’d avoid trusting me here because I didn’t see the Kenin/Siegemund clash.

Fernandez vs Wang Xiyu :

This is a fun one. Fernandez is clearly better on clay, and should win. All that is true, but Wang has so much power that it might not be possible for Fernandez to win in straights. Earning every point is tough, and early on in Fernandez’s career she had trouble against the bigger hitters on tour. Fernandez in 3.

Osorio vs Jabeur :

Osorio Kalinina was one of the most exciting matches of the entire first round, but it ended sadly in a retirement. Kalinina was hitting the ball huge and constantly breaking Osorio’s serve. Osorio was defending with incredible heart and managed to get back into the game multiple games each set. In the end, Kalinina had to withdraw. I had her beating Jabeur with the level she was at, but I think Osorio will have a tougher time. Jabeur looked pretty good in round one, and despite her slump, clay is still a great surface for her. She’ll be able to dominate from the baseline with power in the same way that Kalinina did, and Osorio had a really hard time holding serve so Jabeur should win. It’s always a big should with Jabeur, and with her sort of slump Osorio will know that it is possible to outlast her. Maybe not physically, but mentally. Jabeur can get discouraged, so this is a risky spot. Jabeur in 2 or Osorio in 3.

2024.05.29 06:02 Few-Spot-6475 [Spoilers Main] The great philosopher Socrates, Maegor Targaryen and Rhaenyra.

I don’t know how many follow or have read the books in this sub, but this is one of the most interesting things I’ve found after reading Rhaenyra being called “Maegor with tits” by the Green opposition.
This is all from the Internet. A click away from any phone.
Socrates was a Greek philosopher from Athens who is credited as the founder of Western philosophy and among the first moral philosophers of the ethical tradition of thought.
An enigmatic figure, Socrates authored no texts and is known mainly through the posthumous accounts of classical writers, particularly his students Plato and Xenophon. These accounts are written as dialogues, in which Socrates and his interlocutors examine a subject in the style of question and answer; they gave rise to the Socratic dialogue literary genre.
Contradictory accounts of Socrates make a reconstruction of his philosophy nearly impossible, a situation known as the Socratic problem. Socrates was a polarizing figure in Athenian society. In 399 BC, he was accused of impiety and corrupting the youth. After a trial that lasted a day, he was sentenced to death. He spent his last day in prison, refusing offers to help him escape.
There were four charges that were brought against Socrates. They were that he argued the weaker claim over the stronger claim, that he argue the physical over the metaphysical, that he was against the gods and that he was corrupting the youth.
Socrates was found guilty by a jury of 501 Athenians and was sentenced to drink a deadly poison, named hemlock. Many scholars have argued that the charges against Socrates were politically motivated and have understood his trial and conviction as an attack upon freedom of speech and an indictment of democracy.
The Last Moments of Maegor’s Reign, losing against a misogynistic society led by petty and ambitious nobles and against the Faith of the Seven, a religion that enforces gender roles and inequality between men and women.
By 48 AC Maegor's tyranny could no longer be borne by the realm. At Storm's End Aenys I's last surviving son, Prince Jaehaerys, put forth his claim to the throne, supported by Lord Rogar Baratheon, who was named Protector of the Realm and Hand of the King by the prince. Jaehaerys had two dragons on his side, his own mount Vermithor and his sister's mount Silverwing, against Maegor's Balerion. Grand Maester Benifer secretly escaped on a ship to Pentos. Ser Olyver Bracken and Ser Raymund Mallery, two of Maegor's Kingsguard, also deserted him. Lord Daemon Velaryon, the admiral of the royal fleet, and brother of Alyssa Velaryon was the first of the great lords to forsake Maegor, taking the royal fleet with him, and many other lords followed his example. The great houses of Lannister, Tyrell, and Arryn came out against Maegor and in the riverlands House Tully gave support to Septon Moon and Ser Joffrey Doggett, the leaders of the Poor Fellows.
Maegor called his banners in response, but few answered, giving Maegor an army of barely four thousand soldiers. Despite this, Maegor refused to surrender. At the end of the war council, Maegor remained behind alone in the throne room to brood. He was found dead the next morning by Queen Elinor, seated on the Iron Throne with his robes covered in blood and his wrists slashed. A spike from one of the swords on the throne behind him was impaled through the back of his neck. How Maegor died was never discovered. Some say he had been killed by Queen Elinor, others that he had been killed by a knight of his own Kingsguard. Yet others say he had been killed by a builder who escaped the slaughter three years earlier and desired revenge, and many believe that Maegor had been killed by the throne itself. Others believe that Maegor killed himself by opening his wrists on the blades of the Iron Throne.
The fate of Maegor’s loyal supporters.
Owen Bush was a knight of the Kingsguard during the reign of King Maegor I Targaryen. When Maegor suspected Queen Tyanna of the Tower of betrayal, he had Owen and his sworn brother, Ser Maladon Moore, bring her to the dungeons, where she confessed.
Maegor the Cruel gradually lost political support, resulting in a rival threat in his nephew, Prince Jaehaerys Targaryen. Two of his Kingsguard defected to Jaehaerys, and Maegor lost a third guard when Owen was found dead outside a brothel in 48 AC, his member cut off and stuffed in his mouth.
Maladon Moore was a knight from House Moore and a member of the Kingsguard during the reign of King Maegor I Targaryen. When the king suspected Queen Tyanna of the Tower of treason, Maladon and Owen were dispatched to seize the queen and deliver her to the dungeons, where Maegor was said to have slain her while Maladon was present.
After Maegor died in 48 AC and his nephew King Jaehaerys I Targaryen took the Iron Throne, Maladon was accused of being involved in the death of Queen Ceryse, allegedly restraining her when Ser Owen accidentally killed her. Maladon denied these charges, insisting she died of "shrewishness". While the charges were never proven, Maladon lost his head for his involvement in Queen Tyanna's death, of which he was guilty.
When Queen Tyanna of the Tower admitted to poisoning Queen Alys Harroway during her pregnancy, Tyanna promised the same would happen to Elinor. Tyanna was proven correct when Elinor gave birth to a stillborn abomination said to have been born eyeless and with small wings. Elinor was one of the two wives who survived the king, the other being Queen Rhaena Targaryen.
After King Maegor's death, Lord Daemon Velaryon proposed that King Jaehaerys I Targaryen marry Queen Elinor to reconcile with Maegor's supporters when a bride was being considered for the king, but nothing came of the proposal. After Jaehaerys's ascent, Elinor departed King's Landing dressed in the robes of a penitent. She visited her two elder sons at the Eyrie and Highgarden before retiring to her father's seat at the Three Towers with her youngest son.
Later, King Jaehaerys commanded Elinor to go forth and spread his Doctrine of Exceptionalism to the peoples of the Seven Kingdoms, as well as the goodness of Jaehaerys and Alysanne, becoming one of the Seven Speakers. Her queenly raiment became shabbier and more threadbare each day, and she eventually gave up all claims to nobility, becoming Mother Elinor at the great motherhouse in Lannisport.
House Rosby was one of the first houses to yield peacefully to House Targaryen during Aegon's Conquest, surrendering to Rhaenys Targaryen and Meraxes. The Rosby lands became part of the crownlands surrounding King's Landing. Lord Jon Rosby was named Warden of the Sands by King Aegon I Targaryen during the First Dornish War, but Jon was killed in the Defenestration of Sunspear.
Ser Rayford Rosby defended King Maegor I Targaryen during his trial of seven, but Rayford was slain during the fighting. Lord Rosby remained loyal to the king even as his downfall became certain, and was one of the last to see the king alive. In the chaos that followed the discovery of Maegor's body, Lord Rosby drank a cup of hemlock to join his king in death. His young son received forgiveness from King Jaehaerys I Targaryen at Dragonstone.
In 47 AC, King Maegor was dealing with the issue of his lack of heirs, despite having already married three women. Lord Daemon Velaryon, Rhaena's uncle and a member of Maegor's small council, advised Maegor to wed Rhaena, to unite their claims and prevent new rebellions, and to gain her as a hostage against any potential schemes of Dowager Queen Alyssa. Later that year, Maegor summoned Rhaena to King's Landing, and she did not defy him. At the Red Keep, Maegor married Rhaena in a triple ceremony, together with Elinor Costayne and Jeyne Westerling. As the three women were all widows of men Maegor had killed, they became known as the "Black Brides". Immediately following the wedding, Maegor declared Rhaena's elder daughter Aerea as his heir until he had sons of his own, while disinheriting Rhaena's youngest brother Jaehaerys in the same decree.
After Maegor’s death, discussion arose as to who had the better claim to the Iron Throne. There were some who suggested that Rhaena's claim, as the firstborn child of King Aenys I Targaryen and Queen Alyssa Velaryon, was the strongest. Her gender argued against her, however, and Rhaena herself had come to loathe King's Landing and its court. The claims of her daughters were argued for as well. If Maegor was to be considered a usurper, the true king would have been Rhaena's first husband, Aegon, who had claimed the throne before Jaehaerys had. As such, some suggested the throne should pass to one of his daughters by Rhaena, Aerea or Rhaella.
As time passed, Rhaena began to resent the fact that her claim to the throne, and that of her daughters, had been dismissed in favor of Jaehaerys, to whom she began to refer as "my baby brother". In addition, Rhaena begrudged her mother for promoting Jaehaerys's claim over her own.
Ser Walton Towers was granted Harrenhal by King Maegor I Targaryen in 44 AC after winning a melee in Lord Harroway's Town, but Walton died soon after from his wounds. Harrenhal thus passed to his eldest son. Lord Jordan remained loyal to Maegor during the king's wars, and Lord Rosby were the last to see the king alive before Maegor's death on the Iron Throne. Along with Lords Darklyn and Staunton, Jordan yielded the Red Keep to Prince Jaehaerys, Princess Rhaena, and Princess Alysanne Targaryen. The three lords were sent to the black cells, but were eventually pardoned by King Jaehaerys I after surrendering some of their land.
Jordan eventually died of a chest congestion. Harrenhal passed to Jordan's last surviving son, Maegor Towers, as Jordan's older sons had all died fighting for King Maegor.
Maegor's father, Lord Jordan Towers, was one of the last lords of the Seven Kingdoms who remained loyal to King Maegor I Targaryen. All of Jordan's sons died fighting in the king's wars, with the exception of young Maegor.
Maegor became Lord Towers after the death of his father due to a chest congestion. When King Jaehaerys I Targaryen began a royal progress in 53 AC to celebrate the new year, his first stop was to see the new Lord of Harrenhal, then only nine years of age.
Maegor was an impoverished lord who resided in the Tower of Dread with only a cook and three men-at-arms. Since the rest of Harrenhal was empty, King Jaehaerys settled his widowed sister, Rhaena Targaryen, in the Widow's Tower in 56 AC. Maegor and Rhaena eventually became friends, and she cared for his servants after Maegor passed away in 61 AC. Harrenhal was granted to House Strong after Rhaena passed away in 73 AC.
Maegor was sickly and poor.
Socrates speaks his last words to Crito: "Crito, we owe a cock to Asclepius. Please, don't forget to pay the debt". Asclepius was the Greek god for curing illness, and it is likely that Socrates' last words were implied to mean that death is the cure, and freedom of the soul from the body.
Asclepius, Greco-Roman god of medicine, son of Apollo (god of healing, truth, and prophecy) and the mortal princess Coronis. The Centaur Chiron taught him the art of healing. At length Zeus (the king of the gods), afraid that Asclepius might render all men immortal, slew him with a thunderbolt.
Zeus saw Asclepius & his medical skills as a threat to the eternal division between humanity & the gods. Asclepius met a tragic end when he was killed by a thunderbolt thrown by Zeus.
Socrates ultimately does not fear death because of his innocence, he believes that death is not to be feared because it may be one of the greatest blessings of the soul.
The reasons for Socrates not escaping when he had the chance the night prior; are made explicit before the Laws make their speech. Because escape defies the will of the Athenians, it requires stealth and bribery, shameful practices that are unjustified in the current situation.
Socrates Feared Democracies Would Elect Demagogues. The term arose in Greece in the fifth century BCE, right around Socrates's time, and is often used negatively. Socrates himself was extremely worried that the democratic format would give rise to a demagoguery.
Demagogues are political leaders who seek support by appealing to the desires and prejudices of ordinary people rather than by using rational argument.
Modern demagogues include Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Huey Long, Father Coughlin, and Joseph McCarthy, all of whom built mass followings the same way that Cleon did: by exciting the passions of the masses against customs and norms of the aristocratic elites of their times.
This is why Maegor and Socrates died. They challenged authority and lost. They were silenced by the powerful lords and by the elected council of Athens whom were given power by the common people.
They were “heroes”.
“My own heroes are the dreamers, those men and women who tried to make the world a better place than when they found it, whether in small ways or great ones. Some succeeded, some failed, most had mixed results... but it is the effort that's heroic, as I see it. Win or lose, I admire those who fight the good fight.
George R.R. Martin.
King Maegor had married all his brides and gave them Queenly status.
Jeyne was married to Lord Alyn Tarbeck. She was widowed when Alyn died during the Battle Beneath the Gods Eye in 43 AC. Jeyne was pregnant when her husband died, and gave him a posthumous son a few months later.
In 47 AC, Jeyne was being courted by a younger son of Lyman Lannister, the Lord of Casterly Rock, when King Maegor I Targaryen sent for her to be wed to him. She married Maegor in a ceremony at King's Landing, along with Lady Elinor Costayne and Princess Rhaena Targaryen. As all three women had been widowed due to Maegor, they became known as the "Black Brides". The stories told of the wedding night claim that Jeyne was given a fertility potion by Queen Tyanna of the Tower, and either drank it, or threw it in Tyanna's face. After the wedding, Queen Jeyne's son was confirmed as Lord of Tarbeck Hall, and sent to Casterly Rock to be raised as a ward of Lyman Lannister.
Lord Edwell Celtigar, the Hand of the King, announced half a year after the wedding that Queen Jeyne was pregnant, and Queen Elinor's pregnancy was announced shortly afterwards. Maegor, joyful, showered both his wives with gifts and honors, and granted new lands and offices to their fathers, brothers, and uncles. Unfortunately, Jeyne's labor began three months early, and she gave birth to a stillborn child, monstrous, lacking arms and legs but possessing both male and female genitalia. Jeyne herself died soon after.
In 48 AC, Tyanna of the Tower confessed to having poisoned Jeyne's child in the womb.
Tinfoil theory.
At the end of Maegor’s reign, House Baratheon, Lannister, Tyrell and Arryn rebelled against Maegor. Maegor had sent the young son of his fourth wife (Jeyne Westerling) as a ward(hostage) to House Lannister. Then he sent the two eldest sons of his sixth wife (Elinor Costayne) as wards(hostages) to House Tyrell and House Arryn. When the great houses rebelled, Lord Daemon Velaryon, the brother of Alyssa Velaryon, escaped with the Royal Fleet and left King’s Landing.
Maegor called his banners to fight against the threat but they were too few and Elinor Costayne begged him to surrender to save her two eldest sons and the son of the long deceased Jeyne Westerling. He banned her from the council room and refused to surrender and his lords and him and Rhaena made battle plans well into the night. At the end of the war council, Maegor dismissed everyone and stayed alone in the throne room to brood.
The following morning, Elinor Costayne found the King dead, his wrists slashed and throat impaled on the back of the Iron Throne.
This is all hidden in the awoiaf wiki.

2024.05.29 06:02 Infamous_Ad_6532 Antenatal Depression & Husbands

I have never posted to reddit so I’m not totally sure how to go about this but here goes:
I am 39 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I had a fairly average pregnancy until the last 6 weeks.
I normally have several hobbies that keep me occupied and happy but for the last 6 weeks I have been unable to focus or participate in any of them. I can’t read, write, watch tv, craft. Nothing. I have been on an early mat leave at the recommendation of my medical team these past few weeks due to some complications and working a very physical job. I am currently not allowed to bend over, vacuum, sweep, push or pull anything or lift anything over 10 pounds.
I am starting to feel like the only reason I am alive and breathing is to keep my baby alive and that every other aspect of my life is worthless. I do nothing all day, I just wait for my partner to come home. I love spending time with him, but he needs alone time. I am extremely extroverted and he is an introvert through and through. When he gets home, he is preoccupied and truthfully I don’t think he has any idea how to support me and I don’t know what I need for support. We are sleeping in different rooms at my insistance because of my constant getting up throughout the night. At least one of us should get a decent sleep.
He is a wonderful man but he just goes about his day as if everything is fine. Meanwhile I am anticipating the biggest change of our lives, not having time for one another for a long while and having intrusive suicidal thoughts. The nights are the worst. I cry myself to sleep and imagine not telling him when I go into labour because I don’t think he will be able to support me. Lately I am having thoughts that I wish I never got pregnant when prior to these few weeks, all I ever dreamed of was being a mom. But now I feel unbelievably lonely and apathetic.
How do I ask for support? What should I even ask of him?

2024.05.29 05:44 ZlyGuy7 Is my pregnancy scare fear irrational?

My girlfriend and I had unprotected sex using the pullout method on April 5th for the last time. That is last time we’ve had sex in this entire scenario. Around April 20th, she got her period, and it was a fairly normal period. Normal flow. Normal time. Now we are in May, and it’s the 28th of May and her period is late. She has also thrown up because she would get nauseous when eating food accompanied by extreme fatigue for a period of time. Early May she had the flu, but it had already passed by the time she started throwing up as I mentioned before. Today, she took a pregnancy test and it was negative. Does this sound like there is any possibility she is actually pregnant? (My brain still worried about a false negative) I’m just not sure why her period is so late and she threw up from eating. I’m thinking maybe it could be related to the flu and all the medicine she was taking, but I still find myself defaulting back to her being pregnant even though it would seem most signs point to no. Let me know! Thanks!

2024.05.29 05:36 astroredhead TW Miscarriage or horrible period?

After a year of breastfeeding I started to reduce the amount of pumps I’ve been doing and I thought I got my period on May24th but every day had been 6-7/10 level cramps and horribly heavy flow with fatigue. This has been 5 days straight. Pre-pregnancy I had short light periods that lasted maybe 4days tops. At first I was like this has to be because I haven’t had a period in a year. But now I’m not so sure. The period almost seemed to dry up this morning for the most part then right before bed the cramps came screaming back and gushing blood it feels like again like I had been the days before. This feels totally not normal for me and I can’t push it off as it’s just because it’s my first period after breastfeeding anymore. I’m making an appointment to see my Dr but could this be a miscarriage? I have noticed some cervical fluid a few weeks ago and we have had sex since then so it could be 😔 did anyone else have a super heavy period the first time it came back after it being gone for a while?

2024.05.29 05:22 sofsokhowru 16 days late and 7 negative tests

hi! i’m 21 years old and had unprotected sex (he pulled out early and finished on his own after like 15 seconds) 4 weeks ago. i’ve been testing every few days starting at 3 days before my expected period to now. my last test was negative on friday, 4 days ago. i don’t feel any early symptoms of period or pregnancy. i’ve had high stress because of college finals, job interviews, and also not feeling pre-period symptoms have caused me to stress out a lot these past 3 weeks. i’ve somewhat changed my diet and have lost 5 pounds in the last 2 months if that would affect anything. is there any chance i could actually be pregnant? i just want my period to come already 😭

2024.05.29 05:20 Fluffy-Pear-7644 AITAH Told my Sister She’s Petty

I (27f) have an older sister (28f) that seems to think we’ve been in a competition our entire lives. I feel like a lot of her resentment comes from early childhood years. My mom used to make me go with her wherever she went to make sure she stayed out of trouble. We went through our teenage terror phases at different times. At one point she was the bad kid, at another point I was.
As we got older we went through different phases of being close and becoming distant again. I chalked it up to normal sibling stuff. She had a baby in 2019, and I had one in 2020. I bought a house in 2020, and so did she shortly after. We talked about when we would want another kid and I mentioned within the next year or so. A couple weeks later she told me she was pregnant. I was so excited for her and told her congratulations. Shortly after I found out I was pregnant too. I didn’t tell her for another month as I was nervous for how she would react. Our babies would be born 1-2 weeks apart.
She didn’t react well at all. She went off about how I’m always copying her life and need to live my own. For example she got married, then I did. I’ve been with my husband for 10 years but we didn’t get married until 4-5 years after she married her husband. She said when we bought our house, we knew they were looking for one too and I just had to do it first. Then she went off about how I purposely got pregnant at the same time as her. My feelings were hurt. I told her life isn’t a competition and she was acting petty. I thought we could be happy for each other and how awesome is it to relate to someone so close about pregnancy stuff? I brought up our childhood and mentioned it seems like she has some resentment from when we were younger. We are close in age, it’s normal to have these big life events close together. She completely cut off contact with me for “copying her life”. AITAH?

2024.05.29 05:09 FunctionAlone9580 Is my path to financial security just plain stupid? 23f

I have no familial or any kind of financial support from other people. I had a rough upbringing. I was homeless for a few months at the age of 20. I am predisposed to mental health issues and am concerned with future disability or unplanned pregnancy or a failed marriage that fucks me up financially.
My main goal is just putting myself in a place where I could be financially secure regardless of circumstance in the short-term. I don't necessarily care about maximising long term wealth; I just want to have a sufficient amount to support myself for an extended period of time as quickly as possible.
Currently my income is 165k annually, which should increase 5-10% every year if I stay with the company. I live fairly frugally, spending about 20-30k a year.
Over the past year and a half, I've saved around 110k in savings across 4 brokerage accounts. One of them is a roboadvisor set to aggressive growth, one is entirely company stock, one is 7k in individually chosen stocks and 10k in money market funds, and one is a portfolio of ETFs. In contrast, I only have 5k in a 401k, which I contribute 2% to (my company match is only 50% of 2%).
As a numeric goal, I want to have 1 million in relatively liquid non-retirement funds over the next 7 years by the age of 30. After I reach that goal, I'd feel willing to put down more into retirement funds. Given my current spending habits, I think this should be doable.
I love working and I love my job; it mentally stimulates me and it feels fulfilling. I don't plan to retire early if I can help it. But I'm scared of my short-term financial future, I'm scared of homelessness again, I'm scared of not being physically able to work and I feel like I can't afford to think about my life past the age of 65 until I have enough in funds right now to feel secure. Is this plain stupid?

2024.05.29 04:54 Hour-Preparation-637 Resources for making abortion less terrifying?

I’m located in MN. I’ve been struggling a lot since finding out about my pregnancy with how I feel about it. I already feel an attachment and bond with this baby and no matter how much I tell myself it’s just the hormones it’s still made me terrified of having an abortion. My reasons for wanting one were that 1. Pre pregnancy, my bf and I had agreed to terminate if I were to become pregnant at this point in my life because 2. I literally have no job, live with my mother, have a genetic disease that makes everything harder, unstable mental health disorders, have no money and just don’t feel ready or like I could successfully support a houseplant much less a child. I read so many people saying they got to be put under for their abortions, or at the very least were given an anxiety med. However everywhere I’ve called says that’s not a thing and I would need to be awake and not medicated if I want one. I genuinely don’t think I can do that, in fact I know I can’t. I went through some serious medical trauma with my history of cervical cancer and I literally need a week to recover emotionally after getting a Pap smear, not to mention I sob and need to be held in place while getting them, because of how badly traumatized I am. There’s just no way I would be able to handle being awake while a bunch of strangers painfully scrape my uterus empty. I also can’t get the at home pill abortion because I’d need to take it by the end of this week and I can’t due to my sister getting married and I can’t be like heavily bleeding and cramping through that. I’m terrified because I know fear of abortion shouldn’t be a reason to have a baby, but if nowhere around me is even willing to give me any ways to make it less traumatic I’m at a loss. I’d appreciate any and all advice or resources, thank you.

2024.05.29 04:44 rimuru_saiki Pregnancy-safe products

I noticed that there isn't any thread here about pregnancy-safe products (skincare, makeup, bodycare). It can be a pretty daunting task to research every ingredient and ask your OB so I guess I'll share what I found that works for me. Feel free to correct me pls if there's anything wrong about my list!
Note: My OB just told me to avoid any products with retinol. From there, I did my own research and basically used the least products possible.
  1. Soap : Johnson's baby soap
  2. Conditioner : Luxe organix aqua boost
  3. Deodorant : Milcu deodorant powder
  4. Feminine wash : Human nature natural feminine wash chamomile cool
  5. Lotion : Johnson's baby lotion pink
  6. Moisturizer : Hada labo premium hydrating lotion yellow & Luxe organix aloe vera and snail soothing gel - I alternate between the 2 but mostly use hada labo
  7. Sunscreen : BLK mineral sunscreen stick - this is the only product I have that's specifically labeled as pregnant-safe
  8. Facial cleanser : Neutrogena deep clean gentle foaming cleanser - but I plan to replace this with a milder one like cetaphil
Makeup - I rarely go out so I don't really use these products as much: 9. Fenty concealer 10. Rare beauty liquid blush 11. Nars setting powder in crystal 12. Nars powder blush 13. Nars laguna bronzer 14. Vaseline / nivea lipbalm - I don't wear lipsticks anymore because I always wear a mask when I go out anyways
I also use this website to check the "safety" of products.
Every pregnancy is different and I know that some don't even use skincare anymore when they're pregnant. For me, I was starting to have melasma but these products helped me stop that! I'm also a first time mom so any help would be appreciated.

2024.05.29 04:44 stuffernutter Game toy with flashing lights and “dance moves”

Hello all! I’m trying to find this toy I had as a child (very early 2000s). I don’t have any pictures of it so I’m hoping a thorough enough description will help you to help me.
It was purple and ring shaped. You hold it vertically. The top had a few yellow lights and the bottom has a few yellow lights and the buttons to start the game. It was a Simon says adjacent type thing. It would call out a “dance move” (one of which was “slide”) and then you’d tap the correct couple of lights

2024.05.29 04:39 Key-Veterinarian-647 Looking to vent

Anyone else feel guilty calling out/ leaving work early? I am 7 months pregnant and have been fortunate to not be sick at all so far in my pregnancy. Well today that changed. I was very sick this morning. I felt hot, got sick twice on the way to work, and felt nauseous. I figured it was all pregnancy related and decided to try and make it through work because it's the day after memorial day and that still counts as holiday for us. I felt bad all day, and finally broke down and asked my ANM if she was going to send anyone home early (this happens daily on my unit due to so many discharges) and said I wasn't feeling well and asked if she would consider sending me home. She said they weren't sending anyone home as of now but since I'm sick I have to leave. I told her I think it's pregnancy related and I'm able to tough it out, it's just if she was going to send anyone home I wanted her to keep me in mind since I'm not feeling the greatest today. She was so nice but said I have to go home now. Well now I was told I may get 2 points if I can't get a doctors note for calling in, even though I worked half my shift and tried to stay. (you can get up to 6 point in a year, I have 0 but now possibly two) I know I screwed myself by bringing it up, but I have never been sick or left early and had no idea that would have been the outcome. Now I've spent the whole day laying down feeling bad (physically from the nausea) but also just down in general because I have not called off in years. I feel so guilty and like a bad employee. Anyone else havs guilt when they're sick??

2024.05.29 04:39 negotiablemorals question about early ultrasound

My sister in law is around 6 weeks pregnant for the first time and is very nervous and constantly going to imaging places because the doctor won’t see her until 8 weeks.
She’s had little pregnancy symptoms and is still having those, however, 6 days ago she went for an ultrasound and there was a rice-sized fetus and a detected heart rate. Today she went back to see if anything had changed but they didn’t see anything in the sac and no heartbeat and advised she may be having a miscarriage. No symptoms other than light cramping according to her, but I also experienced light cramping in early pregnancy.
I asked if her ultrasound was done vaginally and she said no, so I told her to wait to see a real OBGYN before she got upset. I don’t remember getting over the belly ultrasounds until around 7 weeks.
Has anybody experienced this before or have any personal insight? She’s calling in the morning to try to get in earlier than week 8 at her new OBGYN tomorrow even thought they said they couldn’t see her last week until week 8.

2024.05.29 04:27 Few-Spot-6475 [Spoilers Main] The great philosopher Socrates and Maegor Targaryen.

Learning of her brother's claim, Queen Rhaena Targaryen fled from Maegor in the night, escaping on her dragon Dreamfyre with the Valyrian blade Blackfyre, and her daughter, Princess Aerea, adding a third dragon to her brothers cause. Lord Edwell Celtigar resigned his position as Hand and returned to Claw Isle and Grand Maester Benifer secretly escaped on a ship to Pentos. Ser Olyver Bracken and Ser Raymund Mallery, two of Maegor's Kingsguard, also deserted him. Lord Daemon Velaryon, the admiral of the royal fleet, was the first of the great lords to forsake Maegor, taking the royal fleet with him, and many other lords followed his example.
Socrates ultimately does not fear death because of his innocence, he believes that death is not feared because it may be one of the greatest blessings of the soul.
This is all on the awoiaf wiki.
George is a better writer than we’ve given him credit for.
Lord Rosby was one of the last people to see his king alive and drank a cup of hemlock to follow him in death.
Lord Jordan Towers named his last son Maegor and died of a chest conjection after Jaehaerys’ ascension to the Throne.
Elinor Costayne left King’s Landing while donning the clothes of a penitent and eventually renounced all claims to nobility and became the owner of a Motherhouse in Lannisport.
Ser Maladon Moore was executed for his involvement in Queen Tyanna’s death whom had confessed to poisoning King Maegor’s wives.
Queen Rhaena was expelled from King’s Landing and her claim to the Throne was ignored because of her gender.
Ser Owen Bush was found dead in a brothel with his cock stuffed in his mouth.

Chapter 1
“Huff, huff”
Zhong Lin inhaled the heavy gray mist surrounding him, sizzling his already sore lungs. The rancid, musty air did little to soften his scowl aimed at the colossal slab of gravestone. The waning blue moon above casted eerie shadows on the ground, seemingly mocking his desperation.
A reckless punch born out of rage landed on the hard granite. But the carvings of incomprehensible beings responded with little other than broken nerves and muscles.
“HAHAHAHHAHA”
With a loud laugh of self-derision, he roughly fell on the cold, cobbled floor. The chest injury he had forgotten about flared up with the fall. He stared at the blood that flowed from his chest, akin to a river slithering down a mountain, dyeing the floor crimson.
He moved his right hand towards his chest, holding down on the wound. Physical pain was still more bearable than the heart. He had been long used to the pain. Both of heart and body.
“All that for nothing.”
A dispirited mutter left his parched lips as blood and sweat melded together. Divine sense showed his nascent soul in a similar state to his body. As the Qi and Blood competed to leave him, a strong dizziness assaulted his senses, spinning even the azure moon above.
He pulled out a jar with only one red pill left inside.
*Crunch*
Brisk chewing gave life to the hollow, misty temple of death as he gnawed on his final pill. He knew it was futile. When the slab showed no response, he already had a hunch that all his efforts were for naught. Yet, if living a mere moment would increase his non-existent odds, he would seize that moment with everything. He lost too much to stop here.
“You were wrong, father. Trying is never enough.”
Reminiscing about his lives, he couldn’t help but wonder how everything had gone so awry. When he transmigrated to this world, he thought he could redo everything.
A second, no, his first, proper chance at life.
And he had to admit, he had gotten lucky. A loving family. A shed above his head. A heart full of warmth. Brought by the simple act of his mother brushing his hair. By stern reprimands of his father as his sister laughed from behind. But that gave away to the question, had he been a bit too lucky?
“I am sorry, Rin. Your big brother is a coward.”
They say that your life flashes past your eyes before you meet your end. He could not confirm it in his last life, perhaps because he did not have a life worth remembering, but now he could see it clearly.
A scene that frequented him in his nightmares.
It was midnight when the mournful shrieks broke him out of dreams. He sat up to muffled screams, fizzling out, one after another. Even the unending darkness of night was eclipsed by an emerald hue, bleeding into his room from the small crevices of the windows.
From an interstice he watched the man in black robe. With a glowing blade, the dark figure painted the snow in crimson. He saw his father among them, kneeling. A warning in his eyes met his own. And he raced like hell itself chased him, away from the nauseating scent of blood.
And quickly hid inside the house, going away from his room. As fear grasped his soul, the realization hit, his sister was still sleeping, unaware of the carnage outside. Before he could reach out, a footstep froze him, burning him with a primal fear. Only a small, sleepy “Big brother?” reached him, before his heartbeats taking over once again.
But fear whispered at him, to not breathe, to not move, to not go. And he caved in to it, paralyzed, until the screams stopped and the morning sun shone. Only then did he go out, finding her there, lying peacefully.
Only, a bit of perplexity in her azure eyes, which had long lost all semblance of life. Her eyes would continue to stare at him, every night.
Like they did right now as his vision blurred.
“I am sorry, Rin. It should have been me.”
He croaked. There is no pill for regret. Like a gut punch it hit. Often, he wondered why he had been left alive. Before, he thought it was due to him hiding well, but only later did he know that he was spared. After all, there was nowhere to hide from a divine sense.
Sound sleep became a thing of luxury from then on as nightmares took over. Thus, a ten-year-old made revenge his life goal.
But it did not take him long to realize that smarts could not overpower those with the strength to break mountains. Hence, he ran after power, meticulously scheming. Ten years a valet of nobles. Hundreds a slave to immortals. Thousands of years of cultivation. Only to find an answer to one question.
Why was he spared on the night of snowfall?
But efforts matter less where talent is venerated. What took him years took the man of his nightmares a day to accomplish. And by the time Zhong Lin reached nascent soul, his figure of vengeance had long surpassed him by an impossible margin. And he despaired, for as long as he remembered.
Until Requiem landed on his hand, that is. A book of a God long forgotten. A different path to power, beyond what immortals could ever hope to accomplish. And he did whatever the book told him. For that was his only hope.
He found the missing pieces, assembled them, piece by piece. Hiding, running, stealing, slaughtering. Funnily enough. all his efforts only led to him creating his own burial. Perhaps it was karma. Slowly, He felt impending death crawling on his skin as the smell of blood got thicker and thicker.
Faintly, a sound of footsteps could be heard from afar. The firm noise of boots steadily made its way, like death. Inevitable.
Zhong mustered all his remaining strength to stand up, amplifying the dizziness. He had a faint idea of what approached him.
He who led him to the pit of hell.
A black silhouette wearing a gray overcoat slowly emerged from the haze of mist, holding a yellow lantern in his hand. Yet, all the light avoided his visage, scattering before reaching the inky blackness.
“To be honest, I never imagined that you would actually manage to find it yourself.” Zhong Lin’s face crumbled as he listened to the deep, gruff voice mocking him, but he had little to return to the derision reaching his ears. “I must thank you for saving me the trouble.”
Zhong Lin numbly gazed at the figure that went beyond his understanding. A being made of the vast cosmos. Hands made of stars, a face that resembled eternal darkness.
“Sorry. Kid. There was never any inheritance.” Zhong Lin listened to the voice that sounded like a death sentence. In his journey, he had considered many times a question, What if he does not get the inheritance? But he never considered that there was no inheritance to begin with. But all the despair only left as the haze cleared, and a profound numbness filled all that was hollow in his heart.
“Kid” A soft voice reached the ears of the listless Zhong Lin. He watched the inky black around the cosmic figure leave as he brought the lantern up. But more than that familiar voice and face, what brought him more despair is the one single line. “Do you remember the night of snowfall?”
No. It could not have been that early!
His face scrunched up, forming an expression of madness again, his knuckles cracking as they turned white. “Old hermit.” He whispered. He finally connected all the dots. It was not just after he got Requiem. For his entire life, he was but a simple pawn. Chess piece right from the very start of his journey. A mantis unaware of the oriole behind.
No wonder. The only reason why he managed to survive the impossible odds so far was because a higher being was aiding him. He attributed the random burst of luck and lucky encounters to destiny, thinking the world itself wanted him to succeed. How foolish of him when fate has done nothing but mock him.
He stared at the peaceful face of an old hermit; someone he had known for ages. His benefactor, a lifesaver many times,. “Kid, don’t misunderstand. It was never personal.”
“Why?” A quivering voice escaped Zhong Lin’s lips as all of his expression left his face, leaving numbness occupying it once again.
“Why was I spared?” He stared at the being that seemed eternal by now once again, with a black face, hands like the cosmos holding onto a lantern.
Old hermit laughed at the question. “Would you believe me if I said everything was merely a coincidence?”
Zhong Lin watched the burning golden eyes on his eternal black visage peek at his soul. Unfeeling, cold, relishing in his nightmare, refusing to fulfill even his final wish.
And he decided, right there.
The runic seals around his soul unchained as he quickly compressed the Qi on the bead, something he had been keeping inside his soul for a long while. The thunder and fire souls mixed together, creating a mad frenzy of Qi inside him. Soon, all seven souls were burning madly, before destroying themselves within seconds, like an avalanche of Qi.
*BOOOOOOMMMMMM*
The nascent soul destruction created a feint as he propelled the bead forward, to the middle of the gravestone, to the piece he had forged himself. He watched with his dimming divine sense as the bead slowly made its way with a bit of hope, to destroy one of the stones, to stop whatever his plan was.
But right before the bead could reach it. Hermit waved his hand, stopping all the chaotic movement of Qi and soul. Zhong Lin’s final bit of hope died out as he reached his eternal end.
“Almost succeeded. But you were too desperate.” The hermit laughed as he watched the desperate Zhong Lin’s final attempt. Walking towards the frozen bead, he stared at the brewing Qi that would have certainly taken down the entire temple if it hit. .
“And even if you damaged it, it would have only brought me a mild inconvenience.” He ran his fingers on the gravestone, muttering softly. A laughter of elation resounded in the empty hall as he brought out a key from his overcoat. As soon as the key reached the stone, a small hole opened up, like it was made for it. With a clink, the rectangular slab of granite transformed, into a small, unassuming olden black book.
A single ancient word was written on the black cover.
Requiem
“Right? Requiem.”
He stared at the bloody mess caused by the splattered organs and blood on the stone walls. Although he protected himself and Requiem, he shared not that feeling about the old temple of death. He gazed at the detonated Qi that intermixed with the soul energy, all seven souls had been unchained and intermixed.
“Did not even leave yourself a path out for reincarnation. But, kid, you may have chosen well.”
A sigh escaped his lips as he walked off into the dark maws of the door. As he left the temple, it broke down, piece by piece. The large pillars slowly slid underground like it were submerging in water, along with the rest of the temple, disappearing like it never existed, taking with it Zhong Lin's remains. From now on, the old temple of death will have never existed, alongside Zhong Lin.
Or that’s what was supposed to happen.
But an anomalous corruption in time and space was brewing,

First Previous Wiki
Penny gazed at the quartet of Elders. They were all wearing the merchandise she remembered from the last Judgment, which was exceedingly awkward. Mainly because they were wearing shirts with her face on them. But it was also oddly endearing, in a way. Until now, she hadn't seen too many Elders that were on her side.
Elders that weren't just Kashaunta or the familiar faces she already knew, like Spentha or Rho and Sai, actually showing appreciation of her, felt odd. Even if these ones went a little too far in it.
"You're even more beautiful in person, Liberator," one said.
"Uh, thanks. I appreciate that. I'm glad that you all like me. Rho and Sai told me that you all are interested in something I can give you?"
"Yeah. Maybe a short interview? We won't be like that airhead reporter. We'll ask the good questions."
"Yep, we will."
"Right then," Penny said. "Well, I'm glad to meet you."
"Thank you. Now that we're here, we'd like to know how you plan on taking care of the gang leaders."
"Well, presumably by imprisoning them. I don't think they deserve to die, even if others do. I'll leave that decision up to Justicar and his various judges in the criminal system."
Penny didn't like having to lie blatantly. She wanted to kill the slavers quite brutally, but doing that was a bad idea right now. Saying it also was a bad idea, for a similar reason. And Justicar's system was worryingly preferential to Elders, from what she'd looked up after the meeting with Pundacrawla.
"Aren't you worried that the Judges won't give proper justice?"
"I trust Justicar to do everything that is necessary."
Another lie. Justicar would do whatever he could to maintain his image. Hopefully, that wouldn't be at the cost of the Alliance's very existence.
"Got it. By the way, what's it like being human? Walking on only two legs. It seems kind of unstable. Do you fall a lot?"
A genuine curiosity from them was another breath of fresh air. It was the kind of question a quadruped would definitely ask, which put her more at ease about the nature of what they were trying to do. Even more than their evident support of her, with all the merch they were wearing. Penny felt a smile crack at the corners of her lips, unbidden.
"Not really. We can use our arms to steady ourselves pretty well. Obviously it's not as easy to balance on our two legs as it is with your four, but it's still good enough. In fact, the sprinters in the Olympics use all four limbs, since running as fast as possible also requires pumping our arms. As for what it's like to be human, it's hard to describe. For many of us, it will feel colder or warmer than Sprilnav would feel in the same temperatures, due to thinner skin. Our eyesight is more frontal than yours, given our lack of snouts, so our blindspots are a lot bigger. Our feet require shoes for rough ground, and we heal slower than you by around 20%. We can't really clack our jaws to the scale that you can, though we can make them meet."
Penny bared her teeth, showing as she opened and closed her mouth. It was nice to be able to talk about things like this.
"The Olympics?" one of them asked.
"It's a competition about athletics," Penny said. "Running, jumping, throwing, diving, swimming, skiing, snowboarding, and a lot of sports. There's specific divisions, too. Like how there's a 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, and even an 800 meter dash for those with high levels of psychic energy. Though really, psychic energy and genetic editing have been messing with the events for a while now. And there's a Winter, Summer, and Space Olympics, each with different sorts of events. They move from city to city, though the Space Olympics are pretty much always on either Luna, Ceres, or Mercury. There's a lot more information out there on various events, but it's an old cultural practice revered by the entire species. Even more so since Phoebe's increased the prize pools for everyone."
"How does your species handle space in general? I know that you guys did things way differently before First Contact."
"We did. Mining companies kept tight control on all asteroid mining, while nations controlled planets like Earth and Mars and large planetary bodies like Luna. Supposedly, a few people planned for a cloud city on Venus, but we couldn't risk having such a vulnerable population because they'd have to rely on giant balloons to survive. That would probably be the least secure way to live, given the existence of rogue organizations and all that.
As for spaceships, most of them since we really colonized Luna come equipped with spacesuit bays, zero gravity water and food packs, oxygen tanks, emergency seats, specialized anti-micrometeorite hulls, and radiation shielding. A lot of the older military ships also were equipped with big radiators until World War Three, when it all became masses of drone warfare, with the big ships kept mainly for cargo and lanes where mass drone control was impossible.
Once the Vinarii came and we got shields, we started building big again. After all, it provided a huge number of jobs, and in the post-war economies, especially with VIs in place, a lot of people needed work. But we still go and do asteroid and moon mining, star lifting, and energy gathering. We built an orbital ring around Mercury, the closest planet to Sol, to help with all of that. It doubles as a production hub, too. Now, it's all in more systems and with a lot more friends."
"Speaking of aliens, what theory does your people have on why so many creatures resemble one another? Our jaws are adapted for hard shelled creatures, and we're told that many planets have oddly similar variations of those."
"Crabs."
She guessed what they were getting at.
It is odd, isn't it? Nilnacrawla observed.
Perhaps that is another one of the Source's whims, Penny thought.
Maybe.
A few of the Elders made exclamations of shock.
"You even have a word for them that directly translates!"
Penny chuckled. "Yeah, carcinization is a bit of a meme in the science community. But I've heard the most mainstream theories since the First Contact are that the Source itself is uncreative. It has a certain template of creatures which it largely doesn't alter, though it can take in inputs from beings close to it, perhaps even influencing them."
"Influencing them?"
"Yes. Modern depictions of wendigoes, folkloric creatures from North America, a continent on Earth, are shockingly similar to the Knowers in appearance. The internet depictions of them in particular like to emphasize canine qualities, and often show them with skulls visible directly, and with dark brown or black fur. Recent depictions, as in the past 300 years, differ from their original appearances quite significantly, with the canine characteristics in particular being enhanced.
We have sorted through all known images of these creatures and found roughly 80% similarity with the Knowers and tens of thousands of images that are literally exactly the same as Knowers. The ones we searched all came before World War Three, far before even the First Contact with the Vinarii, much less the Knowers who were entirely underground at the time due to the radiation of their home star. We believe that the Source managed to influence this facet of human culture with the actual existence of a real creature.
Other examples exist, like how the Trikkec look very similar to Komodo Dragons, Vinarii look very similar to insects known as a mantis, and the Acuarfar look exactly like insects known as wasps with the single exception of their furry snouts and green instead of yellow markings. The Sprilnav species itself shares high amounts of similarity with a fictional species known as Elites in early 2000s culture, particularly with your jaws, though you all have red skin instead of grey or brown.
The Junyli, Dreedeen, and the wanderers are the main species without high amounts of appearance in our cultures at some point. This correlates with the idea of the Source being the influencer, as their predecessors all were used to fight it. Many species of the galaxy look like parts of our culture or Earth's creatures. The proximity of these examples makes this far more suspicious than if they were across the galaxy.
But since they existed first, the only answer must be that the Source brought the influence to us first and planted the ideas in our heads. As for the ones which look like Earth creatures, all of them are old enough evolutionary branches that copying from them to Earth makes more sense. Though the references centering around the early 2000s is quite odd, it is also roughly when the internet came into wide existence, so it is also possible the Source gave the ideas a push so they would propagate, for an unknown reason. Like if it seeded the ideas that propagated across the early global network Humanity used."
"Hmm. Fascinating. We've seen evidence of the 'seeding' process among some historical nations near the galactic region of Earth before. So the Source re-uses and alters depictions of life and also life itself?"
"Maybe," Penny said. "Unless the Source is more directly tied to life than we think. There's a conceptual Death, but no conceptual Life. Isn't that odd?"
"Conceptual Life died in the Source war."
How did that really work, though? Penny asked Nilnacrawla.
Imagine a conceptual being. A few of the Progenitors, as well as Narvravarana, went up to try to harvest its power. It refused, and Narvravarana used its unique abilities to try and force the deal.
Why was your civilization like this?
Excess and greed, partly. But we couldn't really do much more expansion. Vertical expansion also had its limits if we wanted to remain relevant for the remaining lifespan of the universe. So Narvravarana, along with a few of the greatest rulers and leaders of Sprilnav society, started looking to other dimensional planes. They figured it was best not to let the problem get too much worse. Or at least, that is what they say. I believe it was to harvest more resources to use against our surrounding enemies.
You didn't have any allies? Penny asked.
At that time, all the powers of the universe were enemies. All the allies eventually merged through millions of years of normalization. We happened to get on the universal stage the earliest, so other civilizations we encountered had little choice but to surrender their independence. Some fought, others didn't, but the outcome was the same.
That seems terrible.
It was, though the other universal civilizations were no better. Some of them just exterminated all alien life they found that couldn't fight back. In that sense, the pre-war Sprilnav civilization was one of the greatest, and that's why I fought for them. Obviously, I'm biased in that regard, though.
Thanks for telling me, father.
No problem, Penny.
She refocused back on the conversation at hand.
"But a thing cannot be alive if it dies. The concept of life doesn't work that way. So maybe the Source just... took in the concept of life? Or absorbed it into whatever psychic energy really is, considering that it's responsible for all of our existence?"
"That's so crazy it might actually be true," one of the Elders said. "You're incredible, Penny."
"Uh, thanks. You're all pretty great too." Her eyes drifted to the images of herself on their clothing. She couldn't really help it.
"I have a question for you."
"Yes?"
"Do you know what I'm fighting for?"
"I assume since you're asking it here, you don't just want a one word answer," an Elder said. "I would say yes, and for the liberation of the Sprilnav from the stain of slavery. Though going deeper into your history, you have also fought for other species, either in wars or just generally moving around. It does look aimless, mostly, since the galaxy's so big. But I'm sure you've got a way through that."
"In some way. Part of why I'm here isn't just about my people. It was at first, I admit that. But as I have lived here, on Justicar, for days and weeks, I've seen you less as alien. It makes it easier for sympathy and easier to break out of simple mindsets. So far, there are many problems, but there are distinct pieces. The first is that many people want to uphold slavery. I'm not sure why, but they do. It isn't profitable, and it isn't moral. Robots are cheaper in every way, and don't need food or water.
That means it's illogical or emotional. So I could try and solve the problem with violence alone, but it won't be addressing the cause, only the symptoms. I need to get to the heart of the matter. And I think it has to do with Elders' memories and the gradual woes they have accumulated going through life. I don't want to tear that away or drug them into believing they're fine. I want to find a way to outlet that productively. The second part I have identified is scale. The galaxy is enormous, and your species is incredibly numerous. I could fight planet by planet for the rest of my life, and liberation would still be difficult.
That also means I'd need a better way of doing things. Maybe an economic or political incentive. Emotional reasons will not work permanently, nor will logic, since we are in this situation. I have found several ways to address this. Sadly, since the gangs are likely monitoring this feed, I can't just outright say my strategy. All I can ask you all to do is to believe. Believe that I have a solution, and that I and those who stand with me are working on it. Believe in me because I believe in you."
None of the Elders questioned or ridiculed her words. Most of it was because they were fans of her. But one of them, an Elder named Rahautiti, had a distinct glint in his eye. Their gazes met only momentarily, but Penny could tell he knew.
And so she appeared in the mindscape, even as they concluded the interview, which would be the first of many. It was a ploy to just talk about human culture and ideals a bit more, to get it out there. Because the hivemind's theory was correct.
In the universe, ideas had power. That power could be weaponized against those who previously stood to gain. The first part of it was the image: Nova as an unbeatable bastion. Lecalicus as the Beast, a monster capable of star-crushing rage. Twilight as... whatever she did. Penny wasn't really familiar with the Progenitor's image too much, and the various names, like the Silent Night or the Smiling Darkness, were just so unbelievably edgy she cringed every time she recalled them.
But Rahautiti understood so she moved her mindscape avatar to see him.
"Hello again, Penny. I am no threat."
"I know. I'm glad that your group is led by someone as capable as you, as well as the other groups you dabble within."
"Who discovered it?"
"Phoebe. You met with Ezeonwha, and the android wanted to ensure you weren't a way for Yasihaut to kill him."
"Yeah. We did get approached about that, actually. We're supposed to kill Ezeonwha when you walk into the Judgment hall. Of course, we won't do this, and she won't be able to retaliate against us easily while there."
"Thank you for your honesty, Elder," Penny said. "It seems I'm in your debt."
"Nonsense. 2,839. That is the number of children I have had. 2,626. That is the number of children of mine which were enslaved. The remaining 213 died in unrelated incidents, with nearly half of those involving slavers killing them. I remember all of their names, and all of their faces, Penny. I want all the slavers in this universe dead."
"I cannot achieve that."
"You cannot," Rahautiti agreed. "Not with my help or even that of Kashaunta and Lecalicus. And certainly not right now. I have not lived this long to be incapable of compromise or patchwork solutions. You show great promise. I understand your aversion to killing and the circumstantial reason why you are not doing so now. I will not grow upset if you do not resume killing when the Judgment ends. Nor do I harbor a grudge against you for the speeding space entity you left outside the room to avoid uncomfortable publicity. You are incredibly young.
A sliver of a life. But you are strong, and you are mature. That sliver of your lifespan already outshines all I could do with a trillion more years, Penny. You are right in that this isn't something you can punch your way through. Trauma is part of why slavery still exists, despite it being a wholly unjust reason for the Elders to make such a sport of it. I am sure you know the story of the war, with a great hero in your head and Kashaunta at your side. My line of work is what I started to help you. Every thought about you being the Liberator, every eye that glances on you freeing slaves, helps you to gather conceptual energy. My talent happens to be great enough to sense the Pact of Blades you have, as well. If you want, I can teach you how to hide the mark on your soul and your mind."
"I would like that, yes," Penny said. "And thank you for being so reasonable. I will ask Kashaunta to protect you from what consequences come for refusing the offer on Ezeonwha."
"There are going to be attacks on him, you know. Him and your ship."
Penny felt an odd feeling in her soul. Cardi's power flared around him, and she squinted at the sky. She just barely saw a sliver of a tentacle. Most would have mistaken it for a normal speeding space entity. But here? On Justicar, with Exile obviously not being the cause?
Only one being would cause that. Fate.
Given the subject of their conversation, it was obvious what was going on.
Penny tapped Rahautiti's jaw, adding a thin mark of conceptual power so she could easily find him again. She focused on the conceptual mark she'd left on Ezeonwha. A twinge of conceptual energy came from it. It was accompanied by various impressions, like fear, pain, and acceptance.
"I have to go," Penny said. "I will be back later. Displace."
She appeared next to the 102nd Visitor Welcome Office but not next to Ezeonwha. It was carnage everywhere she looked.
"Champion!" an unknown Elder yelled. "I am Elder Na-"
Her rising fury surged, and it took all she had not to dismember him. The distant thought of the Judgment stayed her hands, though only just.
Penny's fist collided with the Elder's jaw at twice the speed of sound. A piece of his jaws flew free. Bone fragments hit the ground behind him. Hundreds of soldiers fired on her, and she slammed them to the ground with pure will. Penny tore their guns away and sent them each to pummel the Elder in front of her with as much brutality as she could. His powerful armor wasn't as capable of defense against physical attacks as it was against her psychic energy, and so he fell.
"You... cannot save him," the Elder spat. Fields of psychic suppression fell upon her, reducing her power.
"Manipulation through Determination," Penny growled. "De-"
No! Nilnacrawla said. Do not kill him! Not yet!
"What goes up will go down."
Air hardened around the Elder and accelerated rapidly.
The Elder smashed into the shield five miles above with a speed just slow enough that he wouldn't die. He fell from it and then hit it again at a more modest speed. He'd bounce on that until the Guides came to get him.
But Penny had another target. One she had to save instead of attack.

High Judge Tassidonia awoke to the sound of explosions. He grabbed his swords, his main gun, and the personal shield he reserved for only the most dire occasions. The sky was erupting in war all around him, and buildings were already falling nearby. The spires of skyscrapers rained down upon the entrances to the Underground, crushing thousands of fleeing Sprilnav under their wide impacts.
His implant identified members of the gangs nearby, making their way to his home.
"Retribution Cycle!" Tassidonia cried. A hidden door opened, and he boarded a small hovercraft that sported a high amount of defensive and offensive technology, a gift from Justicar for dealing with all that he had related to the Judgment. Only this time, he wouldn't be on the next one. But already, the destruction was spreading.
Micro-missiles rained upon friend and foe alike. Several detonated against the layered shields. The mounted turrets on the side of his hoverbike shot lasers into the enemies his implant identified.
"Elder Tassidonia!" an Elder cried nearby. "For the crime of defying the will of-"
Tassidonia called his fury to bear. He rammed his mind into the enemy Elder, disorienting her. She reeled, about to attack, when a thick laser smashed into her chest. It pushed her against the wall, and Tassidonia kept the pressure up until her body melted. He listened to her screams impassively, occasionally sending blasts from his gun at the gangs when their members started to stray too close.
The thick red beam did its work within twenty pulses. His swords began to float beside him, keeping pace as he sped away from his home. The entire apartment complex shuddered and began to lean, its foundation being destroyed by some effect below. Tassidonia abandoned it with only minor regret. He'd known this moment would come. Everything he needed was already with him.
He linked into the Guide network, directing squadrons to attack the breaches he'd identified. Orbital strikes fell upon them in quick succession. Thick beams of light pierced through the lower planetary shields from orbital platforms, their guns honing in on Justicar's enemies. Tassidonia's implant was linked to the grid as well. So when he eyed buildings occupied with too many gang members, orbital strikes fell on them a few pulses later.
Fire and plasma rained all around him. Explosions and smoke blossomed all around him. More missiles fell from his hovercraft. A fighter ship appeared beside him, its simple stealth revealing itself to his eyes. Tassidonia waited for the pilot chamber to open, and his craft stowed itself behind him when he got in. It was fully equipped, so soon, Tassidonia was in full control of a weapon of war.
His first order of business was detecting the gangs' most fortified areas. He peppered those bases in shield-weakening mines, followed by bunker-buster missiles. Several anti-air turrets hit him, but his shields prevented them from taking him down. He dropped three high-end Butcher Androids into the fray of the largest battles.
One of the adjacent fighter wings in the separate shield sector dropped a nuke. At that moment, Tassidonia made a decision.
Whatever insanity was going on right now wasn't worth staying here on his own. He turned his ship upward, narrowly avoiding nearly fifty missiles shot from another gang fortress, which was really just the lower floors of a supermarket. Thick slabs of concrete were being set up by androids and slaves from the Underground. All he could do was watch from above and attempt to mark those that might be a problem.
Justicar's Grand Fleet was moving in, though only the carriers and their escorts were doing anything of any scale. The armies were mobilizing, and it seemed that war had finally broken out. Justicar, while isolated due to the Judgment, would have to win a war that threatened to topple his rule entirely.

Ezeonwha woke when the walls around him shuddered.
An earthquake?
Groggily, he activated the lights in the room. Phoebe's android was charging in the wall. Her limbs swayed with the motion. The walls shuddered again, and the lights went out. Thin, tiny cracks spread in the walls, increasing his worry factors massively. His implant notified him that this wasn't a dream. Distant screams reached his ears, and he went to the window.
Hordes of Sprilnav were running on the ground, tripping over each other to escape. He heard the thump of footsteps approaching from outside. The android activated, standing up.
"Move away from the doo-"
An explosion tossed him across the room. A Sprilnav carrying some sort of mouth weapon faded into view for a moment, smoke recalibrating the stealth field. And then he was gone. Phoebe smashed into the Sprilnav, her fists pummeling the assassin faster than Ezeonwha could comprehend.
Phoebe's arms turned into swords, and she stabbed the Sprilnav at least fifty times in a single pulse. She turned to grab him, but before she reached him, a second explosion sent him flying out of the now-shattered window.
The massive skyscraper loomed large, and he saw the ground beneath it ripple. Dull thumps sounded from below, and large, circular caverns opened beneath the 102nd Visitor Welcome Office. The whole building started to list forward, and Ezeonwha frantically activated his emergency personal shield as he started falling faster and faster. A bullet hit the shield. And then a second one. Gunshots echoed out in the distance, and he saw other Sprilnav falling from broken windows in the falling skyscraper. Gunfire erupted on the streets as Guides engaged a growing army of attackers bubbling up from basements of shops and businesses.
He saw spurts of blood exit the Sprilnav nearest him, bullets tearing holes through the woman's body. Piercing screams surrounded him, a terrible chorus that reminded him of the worst wars he'd fought in. But here, his training could do nothing. She was already dead, and he knew that he was the target of this whole attack. His eyes watered, and Ezeonwha felt so powerless. So useless.
A Corrector emerged from the side of the tilting skyscraper, eyes fixed on Ezeonwha. Then he looked down. Somehow, Ezeonwha knew when the orders had been sent. He knew that it was Astipra in the distance, a jetpack on his shoulders burning a thick flame beneath him.
Astipra looked back at the building and flew toward it. Ezeonwha felt the wind rushing past the shield as pressure. Astipra, far above, vaporized falling chunks of the skyscraper with blasts from his arm cannons. He pressed back against the skyscraper, the jetpack going into overdrive. The metal bent inward, and the groaning and twisting structure continued its fall. Blasts of light from Astipra again vaporized the set of falling chunks.
"Penny," he said. It was almost a prayer, really. His desperate mind was scrambling for whatever it could get. "Please, save me!"
He didn't know if she could hear him. Logically, it was impossible. And in a battle such as this, unlikely as well. Rippling explosions erupted across the facade of the falling skyscraper as rockets struck it. More explosions bloomed as lasers from distant police vehicles, Guides, and Astipra destroyed more of the fast-flying missiles and rockets. They pounded on the world around him, a horde of madness threatening to break his brain. He could feel the wind and gravity equalize as he reached terminal velocity.
And all he could see was the world descending into war around him. The 102nd Visitor Welcome Office continued to slump and lean against Astipra's best efforts. More bullets hit Ezeonwha's personal shield, and peppered the Guides moving over to save him. Air ambulances were shot from the sky. Even small fighter crafts were shot down by powerful ground lasers. EMPs thumped, disabling all the higher functions of his implant before he could think to use it.
A much larger explosion bloomed out, and Ezeonwha followed the rocket's trail to an Elder on the ground, standing in the wreckage surrounding a sudden tunnel opening. The Elder stared at him in glee, and he lined up another shot. Two Guides fell upon the Elder, who flew up using a jetpack to cut them in half with his sword. A hard light hologram lifted a large gun, pointing at Ezeonwha as he fell.
His eyes widened. Ezeonwha did everything he could. He angled his legs and arms. He pushed at the air. He even hefted the meager psychic energy he had, struggling with all his soul to escape the death he could feel was coming to him.
Guides swarmed beyond the shield appearing, while gang soldiers died by the hundreds to carpet bombing. Personal shields sprang up to block the explosions, and the Elder had survived. A thick red laser cut one of the fighters in half from the smoke. Above him, the collapsing facade of the skyscraper consumed Astipra entirely, though large gouts of plasma and thick explosions emerged from within. He could survive if it fell upon him, but Ezonwha could not.
Penny materialized far below, closer to the field of battle. A sweeping wave of gang members began disappearing. A bullet smashed into her head and her stomach, detonating in bright explosions. A personal shield flared and disappeared. Missiles and lasers slammed into Penny by the thousands as psychic energy gathered. A constant roll of words fell from her tongue, but without his implant, they were not translated.
Missiles crumbled into dust. Lasers impacted raw space in front of Penny before bending down and back to their origins, destroying automated turrets. Bullets still hit Penny and the Guides by the thousands, firing too quickly and densely for her to entirely block. But the large ordnance from the gangs continued to work against them.
Penny looked around, confusion evident on her face. But amidst the thousands of wounded and dead Sprilnav falling from the broken windows, Ezeonwha was hidden too well.
Shattering glass could be constantly heard, and he could feel the distant screams in his soul. A bullet smashed into his personal shield again, disabling it. A pulse later, he lost feeling in his legs.
He tried to reach out to her mind, but the war in the mindscape was equally intense. Too many Elders and Guides battling it out along with various suppression artifacts made it all impossible. He could sense Penny's influence, but couldn't directly reach her.
He let out a breath, knowing it to be the final one.
I'm sorry, Penny, Ezeonwha thought.
I wish you luck in the Judgment, and I am sorry I caused this to happen to you.
Penny finally appeared in front of him, eyes wide-
Blood erupted. A searing pain in his head told him his implant had just shorted out. And in the mindscape, he saw a mental attack heading for him, its brutal power evident. He closed his eyes.

2024.05.29 04:00 Odtoast Stomach issues taking over my life!

Hi. This is quite a long post so please bear with me. I could really use some help. I’m gonna put as many details as I can in here.
Background details on me: I, (24 F) live in the UK. I’m generally healthy but slightly on the overweight side (my weight has fluctuated for as long as I can remember but the switch from on your feet retail work to office work has affected my weight) Ive never had any serious health issues apart from a blood clot on my lung when I was seventeen. Despite only being 24 - I am a recovered alcoholic. Over a year. My most recent liver function test was fine. I’ve given up cigarettes for almost two years and occasionally vape as a replacement (I know it’s terrible - I am trying to stop). I do not take drugs and am over 3 years drug clean.
My family history: on my mums side three generations have had cervical cancer. On my dad’s side stomach cancer and pancreatic cancer runs rife. My dad himself has a stomach issue called colitis.
The issue: Around eight months ago I started having these ‘pain episodes’. Always at night, never a specific food triggered it. About once every two weeks. This pain was on my left side underneath my ribs and lasted around five hours a time. It was too much to sleep but I could concentrate on a TV show if I wanted too. I originally passed it off as acid reflux but as it persisted I decided to go to the doctors. They felt my tummy. Asked me some questions about my diet and further said it was acid reflux. I was reccomended a common antacid and sent on my way.
Afew more weeks pass by and this pain persists. I now notice with every time it’s getting worse. I think to myself ‘surely acid reflux does not get THIS bad’. The pain episodes start lasting for around 7 hours. Does not matter whether I’m sitting, standing, laying down. Anything. I also noticed alongside this I felt I had a lot of trapped wind or like I needed to use the toilet without the ability too.
I went back to the doctor. They were annoyed I was back again with this issue but they listened. They now decided it could be a bout of gastritis caused by H.pylori and ordered me to submit a stool sample and IF it came back positive I’d be given antibiotics but they told me to eat bland food. Not spicy and not fried in the meantime. Which I did. This test came back negative and I was not contacted about any next steps.
More time goes by. I stick to the bland foods. The pain gets worse. I begin to get a lot of swelling in my upper abdomen when it comes. These episodes begin happening every other day. The only thing that makes me feel better? Forcing myself to vomit. And trust me, I’m not proud of it. But I tried hot water bottles, cold compresses, every position possible, antacids, encorperating more movement in my everyday. What else could I do? Once I realised the vomiting made the pain go away - that’s what I would do as soon as I felt it. I needed to be able to sleep because I had work early. I couldn’t be up all night in pain.
One night. I have a specifically terrible episode and end up in A&E. this time the vomiting didn’t help and actually made it worse. I now notice a little hard lump on my upper left abdomen that is there constantly. A&E take my blood and the results come back that my liver function is ever so slightly elevated. They feel my tummy. Tell me it’s gastritis. Send me home. By that point the pain subsided and I was exhausted. I wasn’t going to fight it.
I wake up the next day and the first thing I do is get a doctors appointment. I ask for the same doctor as last time. I give her all my symptoms. She notes the fact that I’ve noticeably lost weight since the last appointment. She feels my tummy and decides to refer me for an abdominal ultrasound to check my pancreas, liver, gallbladder and stomach. She also ordered blood tests to check me for celiac disease (again negative) and my liver again (it had returned to normal)
I waited for two months to get a refferal letter. As I write this - the scan date is just shy of a month away.
During this time. The pain has increased to daily. I vomit almost daily because it makes the pain atleast bareable verses unable to talk, or breathe, horrific pain. I went to A&E twice over it, nothing was done. I went to urgent care. They prescribed me lanzoprazole 30mg (one a day before food) hyoscine butylbromide 10mg (2 tablets 4 times a day). It helps, occasionally. I also still can’t go to the toilet and when I can (maybe once a week) it’s a real struggle. The movements are light in color.
I am always pale. I am always tired. My blood pressure is lower than normal for me but still in normal ranges
Basically. Any ideas of what this is? Anyone with similar stories. Are my doctors doing enough? I’m not convinced it’s gastritis or acid reflux. I’m doing everything I can. But this is getting pretty hard to live with.
Thankyou everyone.
