2024.06.09 19:01 Velligone Whata about meds?

Hello people. I developed sciatica 3 months ago, beginning from my left hip and gradually radiating all down to my toes. I have donr pt and still do once a week. I do my daily stretches, hot/cold packs and recently started pilates twice a week. I have seen improvement comparing with my first month but the last week has been worse and I am trying to get more educated around my condition in order to help my self as much as i can. It is really hard, minding that i am a designer and i can only work sitted, which aggravates the symptoms. But my question to you is about meds. I am on painkillers daily for 3 months. Sometimes i even take them twice a day. I am starting to get worried if this will affect other aspects of my health like my liver, kidneys or stomach. But It is impossible to work or get my daily stuff done without easing the pain.. Any suggestions?

2024.06.09 18:52 SecurityConsistent23 Eruptive cherry angiomas getting worse by the week in an unheard of demographic.

I've had this issue for a few years. It started with a few angiomas but rapidly progressed to thousands of varying size covering my arms, chest, and legs. I've had a normal CBC. My only other symptoms are gastrointestinal (diarrhea, irregular bowel movements, loose stool).
My doctor told me it was normal after a blood test showed it wasn't petechiae and likely cherry angiomas but I know from my own desperate amateur research (because apparently that's my only option) that this number for someone in my age range and sex is literally unheard of.
From what I've been able to pick out, eruptive cherry angiomas can be a sign of internal cancers, especially lymphoma. This obviously terrifies me, especially because I don't know how to relay this to a doctor in a way that won't make me seem like a hypochondriac. Maybe someone here has seen a similar case resolved? Please help me.

2024.06.09 18:28 Otherwise_Sweet_7480 Women who are 30+ years old, did your cycle change drastically in your mid 20's?

So, I turned 24 this year and have had my period since I was 12 and it has always always been regular, even after I had my first kiddo. I have one kid who's now 4.
2 months ago (April) I had a very heavy period that was very painful, which wasn't super out of the ordinary for me but was a bit more than I was used to and lasted 6 days instead of 5. I didn't think much of it, until May came around and my period was due. I didn't get it. I was 6 days late (going off of a 28 day cycle, when my cycles were usually 24-26 days long) and on the 6th day I started to lightly bleed, without cramps or anything, no other symptoms. Just light intermittent bleeding that hardly required a pad and would completely stop in the afternoons and start again mid-morning. This lasted 3 days, and remained the same for those 3 days and then stopped. Well, today the same thing has started again. Which would make my last cycle 28 days long. I do have mild cramps this time around and had different symptoms the last couple days than I've ever had with periods.
My question for all of you women is, did your cycles change around your mid twenties? Did they get lighter or shorter in length? Did you swap out some pms symptoms for others you'd never had before?
Relevant info: I haven't been diagnosed with any kind of condition like pcos or anything, I have never taken birth control of any sort, I have taken like 20 pregnancy tests over the last 2 months including 2 done at the doctor's office (all negative) and I also had a pelvic exam and swabs done (all normal) so I know it isn't pregnancy, and as it stands now it can't be chalked up to anything underlying. And I WILL be discussing this issue again with my doctor next month, she blew it off after a negative pregnancy test in her office right after the spotting had started.

2024.06.09 18:21 north510mob Pigment dispersion syndrome

After recently coming across a Reddit post regarding Pigment dispersion syndrome, a condition which results in the pigment of your iris slowly releasing, revealing the pale blue layer beneath, along with a host of other less than desirable symptoms including atrophy of the iris, blurred vision, and even glaucoma, this post triggered a memory within me, long since forgotten. So long ago that I’m uncertain as to whether it was a dream or simply the product of a child’s wild imagination.
I must’ve been four at the time. My parents divorced 2 years after my birth, and I had been at my father’s house for the weekend. It was summer, and I’d been running around the yard enjoying the tranquility of a warm summer day in the countryside, much like many of us kids did in the 90’s before the advent of iPads and other electronic distractions. I’d been collecting different kinds of bugs around the yard which had led me into the garden in the far corner of the yard. That’s when I spotted it—a small white mass within the confines of a bush. At first, it appeared to be a stone of some sort, before I noticed its octopus-like tentacles emerge from beneath it, pulsating with an otherworldly type of energy. Two large blue eyes fluttered open on the mass, glistening in the sunlight. It appeared to be studying me with its silent eyes. Being a curious child, I began to step towards it. And then it happened—the creature morphed before my eyes, taking the form of a majestic bird, one I’d never seen before, its feathers shimmering in the breeze. I was mesmerized, unable to tear my gaze away as it transformed again, this time into a white cat, its eyes still that piercing shade of blue. My four-year-old mind raced with questions, but before I could make sense of it all, my father called me from the house, snapping me out of my trance. I ran back to the house, turning back once more to peer at the creature, its movements fluid and unnatural.
Upon entering the house, my dad had prepared lunch as I watched TV. Slowly, my mind began to drift from the strange creature I’d encountered in the garden. After lunch, my father told me he had to run out for a quick errand, retrieving some tools from down the road from a neighbor he’d lent them to. He said he’d only be gone for fifteen minutes and asked if I’d like to come along. Being all but transfixed on whatever show had been playing on the TV, I asked to stay home. Being only a quick errand, my father relented and set off through the front door.
Minutes turned to hours, and still, there was no sign of his return. Anxiety began to gnaw at my insides as I paced the living room, waiting for the sounds of his footsteps. It had begun to get dark outside when finally he returned home, strangely entering the house through the back door. I breathed a sigh of relief—until I noticed his eyes. Those once warm brown eyes, now a chilling shade of blue.

2024.06.09 18:14 Significant_Form_973 Blood in stool for over 4 weeks, starving and stressed 😩

My daughter is 12 weeks old and has now had specks of blood in her stool for over 4 weeks now. I’m sorry the post is a bit long, I really just need some reassurance 😭
Mid march - LO was born via (sort of) failed induction which led to over 30 hours of labor and ended in me requiring a forceps delivery in theatre. Both LO and I were put on antibiotics due to a small temp I had during labour.
I noticed very early on that her poos were mucusy but when I showed photos to multiple medical professionals (GP, lactation consultant, health visitor, peads doctor) they all said they were normal so I tried not to worry. LO had mild colic as well (I say mild as it was not every day but could be quite bad on some days). She also had reflux and still does but we have managed this without medication (just by keeping her upright after feeds and in her cot at night as recommended by the GP)
I believe that I had an oversupply (milk would spray out regularly and I was engorged even after 6weeks) and LOs latch was not great (I was having nipple pain) but no one really cared as LO was gaining like 70g a day (she is now 7.2kg at 12 weeks). I decided to go to a private tongue tie practitioner who said that LO had a mild tie and we divided to have it revised. The afternoon after the revision I first noticed red specks of blood in LOs stool, I originally thought this was due to the procedure but it then carried on and has not stopped.
I have cut dairy (4+ weeks), soy (4+ weeks), oats (2+ weeks), wheat (1+ weeks) and egg (4+weeks) which I have introduced back this week because I was literally starving myself and I really worried for my supply (as well as my mental state!)
On the days where I was literally hardly eating anything the blood seemed to be better but now I have had to add things back in (to stop myself from starving!) the blood is worse than ever. It’s still specks of red blood but there is much more of them and her stools are greenish/yellow/brown with lots of mucus. She doesn’t have any skin issues, has tiny amounts of spit up but nothing crazy.
I feel beside myself with worry. My husband just says oh she’s just getting used to food but I can’t just see blood and mucus as normal. I feel like I am being robbed of the joy of having my baby right now when I just want to relax and enjoy it all. We are talking her abroad next week to meet her grandparents for the first time and I feel like I don’t even want to go. I am questioning everything I am eating and cutting foods out constantly thinking that they are hurting her. Crazily enough, although the blood/mucus seems to have got worse this week her temperament is not bad at all, she’s generally been a happy baby with a normal amount of fussiness.
The only thing I can think of is that she’s reacting to eggs that I have added in again this week and I need to cut them out again but without oats/eggs/dairy I am short on things for breakfast and worried I am going to hurt my supply by doing this.
We have seen a doctor but she just said keep cutting out the dairy/soy and she’ll see us again in 6-8weeks. But I’m worried, am I damaging her by allowing blood to remain? I’m not prepared to stop breastfeeding as there is no guarantee that things will get better on formula and I would be devastated to lose my supply and her still have these issues.
I would love if anyone has had a similar journey and could offer any advice or their own experience. Or if anyone has had symptoms get worse around 4 weeks before getting better? I’m just feeling really fed up and overwhelmed at the moment. Thanks 🙏🏻

2024.06.09 18:01 Strange-Bicycle-8257 Rescue dog losing weight

Rescue dog picky eater and is losing weight
I adopted a spanish stray dog 4 years ago. He was very underweight when I got him. He gained weight over the years. Fed him special diet food from the vet. His age is estimated 10 years. 3 weeks ago he started eating less and less kibble. So I fed him boiled chicken fillet. And his stool was loose. Not diarrhea. He is always a picky eater and his stool was sometimes loose. So it was not a red flag. And he started to scratch himself. No fleas, ticks, worms or wounds. He didn’t want to take long walks anymore. I thought it is his age. But in the house he is happy and playing. I took him to the vet past week, and he had lost 2 pounds. That’s a lot because he only weighs 14,5 pounds. The vet examined him and he had a higher temperature, not fever. And over all he doesn’t look sick. He has an enlarged heart, they took a photo earlier this year. So he couldn’t give a diagnose right away. He prescribed painkillers (corporal) and anti diarrhea pills. And Tuesday we have another appointment to take blood for more tests. He is still a very picky eater, I try anything to get him to eat and his stool is still sometimes loose. I take him on very short walks or let him in the garden. And I am very worried. What else can I do? Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong? Can it be leishmania? I checked his face and ears for bald spots . He hasn’t any bald spots.

2024.06.09 17:53 alleekitkat ER or wait a little longer?

Age: 31, Sex: Female, Height: 5’6, Weight: 216, no allergies, take Zoloft, trazadone, and Junel, no health conditions.
Two weeks ago I suddenly became violently ill. I had a fever on and off, I had diarrhea, nausea, and no appetite, as well as feeling tired and dizzy. I went to urgent care and got Zofran to help with the nausea, two days later I went to the ER for dehydration since I couldn’t eat and the diarrhea was constant. At the ER they did some bloodwork and found I was not pregnant and didn’t appear to have an infection based on my blood cell counts.
Fast forward to now: the nausea, loss of appetite and diarrhea hasn’t stopped. It has lessened thankfully, but it’s still there. I also will have to go poop very badly, but nothing happens, and when I try again 20 minutes later it’s diarrhea. I occasionally have stool. Two days ago though I developed a really sharp pain in my lower right abdomen. My whole right side of my abdomen is tender and if you press to the right of my belly button, or press to the right and below my belly button it’s painful. The pain doesn’t really go away. Occasionally I feel like a painful tingling that shoots down from my belly button. It’s not the worst pain I’ve ever been in, but it’s becoming more and more uncomfortable. The pain is also in a very specific spot. It isn’t all over my right abdomen. The middle of my back is also hurting on the right side now.
I have not thrown up at all during any of this, and I have also lost ~15lbs in two weeks.
My question is: should I be worried about this? Is this just my body still recovering from being sick and it’s just gas or something? Or is it more serious, and something like appendicitis which I should have checked out? Should I just wait? Is it worth it to go and at least get imaging done? I have an appointment with a gastroenterologist but the soonest I could get was the end of July.

2024.06.09 17:15 Oppenhellmer I feel a desire to dedicate the next 5 years of my life to meditation in isolation from the rest of society. What kind of therapist and professionals could help me?

I'm a 20 years old boy, suffering to study in college, In a major that I don't want, and suffering from mental health issues( like, I get extreme generalized anxiety and extremely physically and mentally agitated all day if not coped with practices like meditation and awareness of breath), (medications and CBT psychoterapy are not helping much, they don't really deal or help me with these symptoms)
and personal questions, along with existential/spiritual issues, and "adhdlike" symptoms( not considered as adhd by mental health professionals, and have no diagnosis).. I'm also level 1 autistic/Aspergers, discovered and treated ever since when I was a kid. These kinds of issues began in my first year of high school.
And I feel a need to stop using social media as much as I wish, as I can, and living alone in a house or with a relative or friend or whatever, and just dedicate the next 5 years to developing the habit of meditation and introspection and writing down thoughts and feelings, connect more with myself, find inner peace and become less susceptible to outside influences, opinions and views, and less prone to absorving everything that I hear or read like a sponge, like an inner urge to become an "actual thinker, a real/true free thinker, an actual ""Rene Descartes"" , let's say. And discover myself and prepare myself and my mental health, reducing my anxiety and dysfunctional executive symptoms, and read, watch videos and learn about topics that interest me inside a comfortable home without too much external contact, even with family. But still keep in contact with people that I love, and with society.
And play videogames, start reducing social media usage and instead start enjoying single player, maybe even Minecraft, with a peace of mind and content.
Unfortunately, this is an idealization in my mind, since as humans in a society, we need to work, find a degree, fit in and such. The only way I could not focus on job or college right now, would be through that the financial help from my mother.
My mother died of terminal disease this year, and as a single child with mental health conditions , here in my country I have a right for a lifetime pension that would be kinda like my mother's retirement money(don't know how much per month). Relatives that I trust and love are helping me with this issue already.
Krishnamurti is an author and thinker who influeced myself to have this inner desire and internal planning like this. 5 years is an arbitrary number that I chose, don't consciously know why I fixated on the number 5 in the long-term.
What kind of therapist could help me?

2024.06.09 17:12 A-R-U Warrior Cats Game Ideas/Possibilities

So I came across a post recently, where the person asked what we would want in a warrior's game, and it got me to remember a document I had made ages ago now regarding that. Now warning, this post is extremely long, and much of what I've written down probably isn't possible to achive (I'm no game develouper). But if you're curious, and find something you like on this list that's do-able, then feel free to run with it, cause I would love to see this in action. (Sorry for any weird spelling/grammar, this is my second language).
Character Creation:
Breed:
-Pureblood.
-Mixed between 2 (choose which trait you want from which breed).
-A specific breed with some minor differences/changes, due to mix breeding.
-A mix of several breeds (from 6 to 10 different breeds, choosing between which trait/look you want from which breed).
-Normal house cat (breeds unknown/unrecognizable/unimportant, free to choose whatever looks/traits from whatever breed).
Fur:
Patterns:
-Single color (with/without different areas with lightedarker markings).
-Single color, except for one, partly or fully, different colored body part.
-Two colors (choose where you want which color to be and the size and shape of the different colors).
-Tabby (choose if the markings are paler or darker in color compared to the main, solid one): Spotted, Classic, Mackerel, Ticked, Patched Tabby markings (in regards to the patched tabby, the player can choose where they want which color to be and the size and shape of the patched areas).
-Multi Colored: Tortoiseshell (bridled, patched), Calico (traditional, dilute, patched tabby). The player can choose where they want which color to be and the size and shape.
-Color Points: Lynx, Seal-Mink, Seal-Point, Seal-Solid.
Colors: Amber, light amber, smoke, black, blue, caramel, caramel 2, chocolate, lilac, cinnamon, fawn, light brown, red, ginger, cream, apricot, orange, white.
-Albino (half or full).
Choose realistic or unrealistic color patterns/combinations (unrealistic = the colors themselves are realistic ones that naturally show up in cats, but the colopattern combinations that can be mixed together aren’t).
Volume, Amount, Length, Appearance:
-Thick, dense, thin.
-Long, medium, short.
-Curly, glossy, wirehair, normal, fluffy.
-Extra fur around the neck, between toes and inside/on top of ears.
-Double layer coat.
-Hairless.
Build:
-Height: Small, big, normal, between small/normal and normal/big (a bar the player can slide to adjust the size).
-Shape: Skinny, lean, sturdy, muscular.
Looks:
Eyes:
-Color: Gray, yellow-gray, blue-gray, blue, blue-green, green, hazel, yellow, amber, orange, brown, red.
-In each: The same color in both eyes, complete heterochromia, sectoral heterochromia in both eyes, one eye with complete heterochromia and one with sectoral heterochromia.
-Shape: Almond, round, oval.
Nose:
-Shape: Flat, normal.
-Color(s).
Whiskers:
-Length.
-Shape: Straight, curly.
Legs:
Length: Hind legs can be longer than the front legs or all 4 can be of the same length.
Tail:
-Length.
-Look: Plump, feathery, thin, bushy or stumpy/bobbed.
-Tailless.
Ears:
-Size.
-Shape: Rounded, folded, floppy, loosely folded, curled (from 90 to 180 degrees), straight.
Shoulders:
-Size: Broad or normal.
Face:
-Shape: Flat (mild, moderate, profound, severe), round, triangle, square.
Scars: Choose the length, shape, how visible they are, where they are, the amount. (Some will show up after battle practice, and the others after fighting).
Mutation:
Face: Half the player character’s face is a darker color, the other half is a lighter one (the player can choose the two colors).
Paws:
-Split-foot (syndactyly).
-Extra number of toes - only front paws, or with back legs as well - , 4 to 7 on each (Polydactyly).
-Thumb-cat - 1 or more extra toes around the dew claw specifically - (Polydactyly).
Pelt: Vitiligo (players can choose between a spotted pattern, whole areas turning white, or both, and how much of the white color takes over).
Ears: Four ears.
Tail: Shortened and kinked (japanese bobtail gene), no tail (manx tailless gene).
Size: Dwarfism (dwarf cat gene).
Others:
-Missing body part.
-Reduced or complete loss of hearing or vision (one eaeye can also be completely gone - senses vice - while another is reduced, one eaeye can be gone/reduced while the other one is working, one ear and one eye each can be gone/reduced, and both eyes and both ears be gone/reduced. Although, I must admit, I have no idea how it would work gameplay vice if a character is completely blind and deaf, or has one eye/ear with reduced vision/hearing while the other 3 are completely gone).
Any missing/partly missing body part, mutation or reduced/complete loss of the senses will make the game harder and can cause the player character to go through a special training arc.
Other Choices:
Clan. (Player’s choice, or take an in-game test with the possibility of getting more than 1 clan as an answer - making the player a half-clan cat if they go with that, with the clan they got the highest percentage of being the clan the character is born in).
Blood ties: Full blooded, half-blooded cats (the player can choose what trait/skills they want from each clan. It will cause the player character to have a longer apprenticeship in order to prove the player character’s loyalty and dedication as gaining the trust of their fellow clanmates will be harder).
The half-clan option can lead to several different possible outcomes for the parents, the player character and siblings depending on how the player played the game and how well and how many in-game characters trust and like the player character unless the player chooses something specific. The player can also choose how far back in the family tree the half-clan blood runs and who (if only one) of the parents has it.
Family situation:
-If the player character’s parents live in different clans, if one of them moved to the other’s, if they’re still together and if they get along or not, if one or both of them found another mate, and if they end up switching clans at some point during the playthrough.
-Whether the player character grows up with their mother’s or father’s clan (if the parent’s lives in different clans. The game will provide the player character with a foster mother and siblings if the player chooses the father’s clan).
-If the player character grows up with siblings, and whether or not none, some of or all of their siblings live with the player character (if the parent’s live in different clans), and if the player character knows about their other siblings - and if the siblings knows about them, or only the siblings know - if they do live in different clans.
-The player can also choose if their character and clan knows or is unaware about the fact that they are half-clan (the player can also choose if only the clan or only the player character is aware/unaware of it).
-Parent(s) with half-blood (what traits they have from each clan, and if they’re in one of the clans they have blood ties to, or in one of the other three. If they are in one of the other clans this will give the player the opportunity to add traits from said third clan to their character, deciding how many/few traits the player character gets from each clan, as long as one of the player character’s other parent has blood ties to the third clan).
Most traits from=check off 6 boxes, some traits from=check off 4 boxes, few traits from=check off 2 boxes. In case of half-clans the player can check off 6 boxes from each side/clans, or remove some from one side and spend them on the other. If both parents have blood from the same clan, that clan/side has to be what the player character has the most filled out boxes from.
-What role the player character’s parents have (including being a medicine cat. The different roles affect how the player character is treated).
Character vice:
-Gender.
-The player character’s name (either the whole name or just the first part, in which case the second part will be given based on your dialogue choices/reputation and what specific skill(s) the player character excels at).
-Choose what the player wants their character to be honored for during the full name ceremony or have the game choose based on the player character’s game-play/performance (same with what lives the player character receives if they become clan leader).
Likes/Dislikes/Preferences, player character vice and npc vice:
-Fur color(s)/pattern, eye color, build, gender and personality regarding npc’s.
-Sayings/expressions.
-Rival clans.
-Other ranks within the clan.
-Half-clan cats.
-Places.
-Prey.
-Weather.
-Seasons.
How player character feels about:
-Rouges/loners/kittypets.
-The opposite gender.
-Different personalities.
These choices will affect the dialog options in the game.
After finishing the game the 1st time, the player will be able to go to the menu and choose one of the special powers mentioned in the series (maybe also some new ones) to give to your character. The player can also go into the menu and change it during the play-through if they want. And they can choose to play as a character from the Warriors series.
Possibly other choices:
-The personality of the player character’s parents (if they stay close or grow distant/cold towards the player character. What they feel about their former mate, if they still see the player character as their kit, or regret having them).
-The looks of the player character’s parents (unless they’re the foster family).
-The looks of the player character’s siblings (unless they’re the foster family).
-Number of siblings (unless they’re the foster family).
-The sibling’s names (unless they’re the foster family).
-The sibling’s genders (unless they’re the foster family).
-The personality of the siblings (unless they’re the foster family).
-The future position of the siblings (unless they’re the foster family).
-If the player character and the siblings are half-clan, what traits each of them got from the other clan(s).
-If the player character or one of the siblings are the player character’s parent’s favorite or if everyone gets equal attention/love (regardless if they’re the foster family or not).
-How the player character’s siblings feel about one another and the player character. Who’s their favorite sibling to hang out with, who they don’t get as well along with, if any (regardless if they’re the foster family or not).
-If the player character and the siblings are half-clan, what they feel about being half-clan, what they feel about the way the clan treats them and if they want to, and if they end up, switching clans.
-If one or both of the parents passes away and when (before birth, during your character’s kit-hood, as an apprenticeship, afteshortly after becoming a warrior), giving the player the possibility of being in a clan that mostly don’t trust the player character, with only the player character’s siblings for comfort if the player chose the “parents in different clans” option (if the player choose for both of the parents to pass away or the mom while the player character lives in their clan while the player character is a kit, the game will give the player a foster family).
-An option for it being certain and one for being uncertain about whether or not all of the player character’s siblings survive into adulthood/survive long enough to become elders, and whether or not the player character’s parent(s) survives long enough to become an elder.

-Spend time and share tongue with the player character’s mate and/or fellow den mates that made it into their senior years.
-Roam freely through the territory whenever.
-Take fallen warriors to the burial place and help bury them.
-Based on the player character’s dialogue/options, the player character can either pass away during a raid on the camp, defending their clan members one last time, or pass away in their sleep during peaceful times.
-A cut scene plays out where the player character hears the voices of old clanmates calling them, and their spirit stands up and walks upwards towards the starry sky.
-As the camera goes from the ground to the sky (birdseye view), the player sees the player character’s clan leader give their speech about the player character at their vigil, and then after zooming further up, the player hears the player character’s clan leader informing the other clans of the player character’s passing during the next Gathering, before the player start playing as a StarClan/Dark Forest cat.
The Kit path:
-Spend some time exploring the camp, playing, make friends, practicing the hunter's crouch, leaping, surprise attacks and wrestling, meeting clanmates and listen to the elder’s stories (after the first playthrough the player can go into the menu and reduce the amount of time the player’s new character(s) spends as a kit).
-If the player character’s spend some time with a specific warrior the odds of that cat becoming the player character’s mentor increases.
-Go through the player character’s apprentice ceremony (skippable).
Playthrough:
-Starts with the player character’s opening their eyes for the first time.
-Encounter different cats outside the player character’s territory.
-During hunting or stealth/sneaking mode make sure not to step on or brush against anything that can make sound or move giving away the player character’s position.
-Make sure the wind is towards the player character, and keep to the shadows if possible.
-Activate a “scent mode”, where the player character gets to see everything in different colors, each color representing a scent (the amount of it telling how old or new it is).
-The player character’s get points based on how well the player character hunts, fights and helps out inside the clan, and if the player character’s do well enough the player character gets taken to Gatherings.
-Getting caught breaking the code will result in punishment.
-Stay a clan cat, switch clan, become a loner, rogue or kittypet (which can cause the player character’s to not end up in StarClan/The Dark Forest).
-The game ends with the player character joining StarClan or The Dark Forest after a lifetime (or 9).
-How your clanmates remember the player character will be based on the player’s choices, how well the player played, and how much they learned.
After the first playthrough the player can choose to start with their new character as a newly made apprentice or warrior (starting with the ceremony).
Other stuff in the game:
-Day/night and seasons cycle.
-Easy, normal, though, challenging and random mode. Makes it so that events such as outbreaks of different illnesses, different natural disasters, harsh/long seasons, prey shortage (and prey getting poisoned/contaminated), conflict/tension, invading forces (other clans/groups of cats/animals), low number of warriors/shortage of new kits being born, losing territory, two/three rival clans joining together to face off against your character’s clan, clanmate(s) trying to overthrow and take over leadership of the player character’s clan, and wars happen a specific amount of time within each mode.
Easy: 0-2 things.
Normal: 3-5 things.
Though: 6-8 things.
Challenging: 9-11 things.
Random lvl button: The game picks (same with the other randomize buttons, the player can cross out the challenge lvl the player doesn't want to be included).
Random events list: Allows the player to cross out events they don’t want to happen, and check off events they specially do want to encounter, before picking a lvl/clicking the random lvl button.
-The player character could end up being taken prisoner if they’re found sneaking around inside another clan’s territory. The player will either have to try to escape, or wait until their clan sacrifices something for the player character’s return.
-If the player character ends up getting too many punishments from getting caught breaking the warrior code too many times, the whole clan can grow to distrust, and eventually, even kick the player character out.
-If npc’s finds the player character on their territory alone often, that rival clan will be on a look out, more hostile/aggressive towards, and talk about/discuss the player character in a negative way during Gatherings (this could have a negative effect on a patrol if the player character is part of a patrol traveling to an enemy camp).
-If the player character has a good reputation, enemy warriors will respect and enemy apprentices might look up to and admire the player character and talk in an positive light and exited way about the player character at Gatherings (this could have a positive effect on a patrol if the player character is part of a patrol traveling to an enemy camp).
-Kits could end up playing pretend as the player character regardless of the distrust/trusted status.
-Follow an evil route and the player character could end up becoming a scary story that keeps disobedient kits inside their dens at night/inside their camp.
-Follow a good route and the player character could end up becoming a popular and exciting bedtime story for the kits.
Stuff that could possibly be different between each playthrough:
-Different cats could end up becoming mates and different she-cats can become queens (also resulting in different kits being born).
-Different characters could end up dying or be named deputy if the player character isn’t.
-Different cats could start off as leaders.
-Different cats could end up being leaders, medicine cats, medicine cat apprentices, and warrior apprentices could have different mentors.
-StarClan can send new, or no, prophecies/warnings.
-Npc’s could keep their personality/alliance throughout the playthroughs, or end up changing, depending on: If they fall in love with an outsider or rival clan member. Who they follow. If they have something against the leadethe way the leader leads the clan, or the player character. What happens to them throughout their lives.
-The leader could turn evil and try to prove the clan’s strength and glory through endless battles, try to drive off one of the other clans, or try to merge several clans into one (and this could be challenges the player character could end up facing if they become the leader).
-The medicine cat could lose faith in or be angry at StarClan, and use their powers/knowledge against the clan or to shatter other npc’s faith in StarClan.
It will be up to the player character to help prevent/solve these npc/leademedicine cat events. The player will have the option to choose if these specific events can happen or not during their different playthroughs.
-Different npc’s could end up trying to befriend, fall for and become rivals (both friendly and non friendly) the player character. This could give npc’s from a playthrough where they weren’t in focus/as important more depth/personality.
There could also possibly be a list over the different npc’s, where the player can cross off if a/some specific npc(‘s) should be more in focus/more important during their playthroughs, and what specific role that/those npc/’s will play.
If the player makes several characters, the player can see them in camp, and on the territory if they’re in the same clan, or during border patrols, Gatherings, attacks, or if they arrive in the player’s current character’s camp with their leader if they’re in different.
Controls:
-The view could be behind/over the shoulder, or through the player character’s eyes, or both switching freely.
-Fighting, battle training, tree climbing, fishing, swimming, leaping, pouncing on prey and obstacle course could be a combination of using the moving buttons and mouse or button clicking).
-The player can save and switch characters whenever they want.
DLC or Sequel:
-At a young age, the player character, and their siblings and mother spot a group of strange cats traveling from the mountains to the moorland and forest area not far from the two-leg place, where the player character’s family lives as loners.
-The player character’s mother makes sure the player character stays well away from them, as blood is suddenly being shed over newly made borders and the prey within, kin attacking kin over the right for space and having prey in their mouths.
-When the player character’s mother passes, the player character must make a choice. Try to survive on their own, or join this strange, rouge group of cats?
-Will the player character stay in the group or leave and try to fend for themselves?
-Does the player character switch alliances to a different group, or do they stay with the group that took the player character in when no one else might have had?
-Learn a new way of life and survival depending on where the player choose to live.
-Try to survive and get enough prey through leaf-bare as hostile strangers and hungry rivaling groups eye the player character’s prey.
-Help keep the campmates safe by helping them fight off intruders with the goal of chasing the player character’s group off.
-Get through harsh seasons and fight off dogs, foxes and badgers.
-Learn how to heal campmates with herbs or help them by training kits and gathering prey.
-Attend their meeting every full moon and learn their history (as a tribe or their personal one) and about the other groups.
-Find a mate, start a family, and fight to protect and keep them alive through storms and diseases.
-Watch them grow into independent adults and expand the family tree.
-Walk in the paw steps of the mysterious mountain cats and become a true wild cat and a part of the early 5 clans.
-A cut-scene at the end of the DLC/Sequel will play, showing the player’s 1st character, or the/one of the character(s) from the same clan the player character is in in this DLC/Sequel, from the main/1st game, as a kit in the nursery, being told a story about one of their earliest ancestors, the character the player just played, in modern ThundeShadow/Wind/RiveSkyClan.

2024.06.09 17:01 Competitive_Pea_5104 Back in hell after many months of relief

Hi everyone, I’m unfortunately back with a recurrence of burning and aching pain in my ears, no idea why and what caused it? All I know is it’s devastating to be back in the depths of hell once again not knowing if this constant burning/aching pain will resolve..
Background; I had pre-existing noise induced Tinnitus for 12 years, September last year after exposure to a minute long loud music scene in a movie which I knew at the time was too loud but didn’t turn the volume down as my brother would complain (stupid mistake), woke up the next day to burning pain in both my ears. After searching online I found this subreddit, the overall advice given was to isolate from as much sound as possible, let my ears rest for weeks to months, then slowly introduce sound only once the pain subsides.
So I spent a couple of weeks back in September initially isolating in my room, no TV/digital sounds, no fan at night (which was awful as it helped mask my tinnitus), when I left my room I wore ear defenders, days were long and I was absolutely terrified of this new awful disease and thinking my life was over..
After a couple of weeks isolating the pain got slightly better but was still constant, I got frustrated and bored of isolating, I finally said screw it I might as well watch tv, listen to music (at moderate safe volume), live normally…it was a relief to be able to simply watch tv again, be around everyday sounds, this didn’t worsen the pain that was still constant, but helped distract me for periods of time.
After what must of been 2 to 3 months since the onset, the pain started to lower, then I was getting continued slow improvements, it started were I would be pain free for an hour, 2 hours, 3 hours at a time etc etc, this progressed to going days and weeks without any pain whatsoever, i was so relieved at this point, I’d gone from feeling suicidal, trapped in quiet room to feeling symptom free! I was that traumatised by the whole experience I didn’t even share my good news here, I simply mentally blocked out thinking about the hell i had been through, I put it all behind me and continued on as normal.
Unfortunately the Noxacusis didn’t fully resolve, I would go days, weeks with no pain, however the aching pain would come back, albeit a lot more milder severity (easier to ignore) for hours, days, up to 2 weeks at a time then disappear again for days to weeks at a time. Being the pain was much milder and being infrequent the condition was manageable and most of the time I’d even forget about it completely! The longest time pain free was up to May this year where I had gone at least 2 whole months without any pain, I thought I had completely recovered..
Then on the 10th of May I went for a 5k run for the first time in years, the next morning I woke to the familiar dread of pain in my ears once again, this time though the pain was worse and harder to ignore, however the next 3 weeks it was only during the morning time I would experience the pain, though still I was getting frustrated how it wasn’t disappearing again completely like it did last time, each day waking and mornings where painful, the rest of the day pain free.
Finally the past 4 days having been HELL! constant ALL DAY LONG burning aching pain in my ears, from morning until night, no breaks, no relief, just as bad as in September last year, I’ve fallen back into a deep depression, dark thoughts, frustrations, total bewilderment to why the Noxacusis is back as bad as ever…I haven’t been exposed to any louder noises than normal, with the exception of my little dogs who can bark at random times in the house and car, i would purposefully stick my fingers in my ears when they bark as it can be loud, but I don’t understand why my ears have started burning now after feeling mostly recovered!?..
I can’t believe the pain is back and constant again, I feel defeated, not knowing if this pain will leave again, I’m really reluctant to go back into sound isolation (it’s difficult as I’ve got dogs), but I may not have much of a choice as this pain doesn’t seem to want to go anywhere! :( thanks for reading.

2024.06.09 16:53 Character-Dig2135 I know nobody is a doctor here but what does this all sound like?

Today: went to the bathroom mushy and almost diarrhea twice, I did eat cooked carrots last night had mircogreens with salmon for breakfast and less then a spoonful of yogurt, don’t know if that’s why I’m going like that today. As of right now really no stomach pain
Yesterday: Woke up belch burping like crazy but had no pain in stomach just gassy at times, could eat more today but notice for awhile now I get acid reflux and depending on the food could be worse and only time I feel some pain is when I feel above my belly button when I press in I get a weird dull pain then it fades away. Overall I’m belch burping a lot and having lots of acid reflux and burning in stomach on and off. I could burp for an hour straight even without eating anything. I know my period is due in a few but I’m concerned I could have h pylori or stomach cancer. I saw many young people have stomach cancer in their 20s
Other day: still belching not as gassy in the moment, above belly button still feels a bit weird but pain went away and toward the left side a bit feels like a balloon at times then I belch and feel better. Overall don’t feel as bad as last night under belly button it is sensitive to touch a bit. Have burning in stomach after eating
Yesterday: Was feeling better even had somewhat of a normal bowel movement, later on I pressed right above my belly button going a little bit to the left and I got a dull burning pain going up a bit and around belly button and now it hasn’t left and I can’t stop belch burping again. I have been taking Zantac and it has been helping me keeping that pain bloated gas feeling away but not so much today maybe it’s also because I took ibuprofen and also I do not have a fever but my period is due in 8 days. Basically it feels like someone punch me in the stomach now
Say before: stomach feels kinda better today, went to the bathroom felt like I had a wall on the side of my rectum with sharp pain went very small stool and sorry for the tmi but it smelled horrible, besides that my face has been feeling flushed took my temperature and it’s between 100- 99.7 I’ve been highly stressed and my vertigo has been really bad today. Stomach overall as I said feels a bit better but kinda also feels like someone has punched me in my stomach/lower abdomen
Few days ago: Light sharp pain around my belly button that goes down to my uterus (kinda) and light pain around the belly button especially when pushing down around my belly button it feels funny weird light sharp pain and lower stomach pain area. Pressing around the area feels sensitive hurts a bit near my hips down, gassy and feeling slightly better after burping also symptoms could act up more after eating or when feeling more anxious. Took Zantac last night helped me a bit
Female/24, Back in January I’m not sure if I had a stomach bug or after years my ibs came back but for like two months I couldn’t really eat and belch burp a lot, after sometime it all kinda went away but my bathroom habits i noticed kinda changed. Recently few weeks ago I came down with a cold and was taking a lot of honey which I think cause me to get a flare up again with ibs and I was also extremely nervous under a lot of stress due to personal reasons, was constipated then started to go more normal once I added more veggies into my diet but I started having to be careful what I ate as I would have to run to the bathroom or start burping like crazy then last Sunday I felt everything kind of calmed down til Monday morning where I woke up feeling fine went to go eat some left over zucchini and within an hour I started to burp like crazy and have really bad cramps and kept going to the bathroom floating stools with watery D. also got a hive. Since Monday I have not been the same I can’t eat can’t even have water just some gatorade everything makes me burp like crazy for hours gives me lots of gas and hurts my stomach. Basically the gas, burping nonstop, and diarrhea/floating stools are back. I did feel like a band wrapped around my tummy whenever I ate something other then rice and some soreness in the right upper side of my stomach there the other day but I also did do a workout that did and haven’t felt anything today, also had some light pain that would go into my back for a bit but that stop as well.. right side has always stick out been bigger then the other side of my upper stomach for years. I know that I’ve been having a lot of stevia in my stuff recently and I just ovulated yesterday lastly I deal with vertigo and back attacks that put my body in fear mode overall I do have a very nervous stomach and all the pains feel like gas pains
I’m in a toxic relationship and have family issues I’m always anxious and stressed

2024.06.09 16:30 smartyates Taper

Husband was diagnosed in December and on mesalamine for five months. It’s been life changing and amazing. His doctor keeps insisting he start a taper. Tried one in March but was too soon. Trying again. He’s done every other day for the last 5 days and now he’s got mucus, burning and some loose stool. Is his doctor rushing him? Does he have to taper? How long should he suffer with return of symptoms before going back to his regular routine. After years of misdiagnoses and genuine torture before starting the meds this winter, I don’t think it makes sense that he relive those experiences. Especially when the suppositories make them go away.

2024.06.09 16:07 Pretend_Pool_1836 Appendicitis vs other problems, should I see a doctor?

24m white 210lbs generalized anxiety disorder and asthma. no meds.
4 days ago I noticed a pain when taking a shower on the bottom right part of my belly, and it felt like the muscle was hurting. it hurt to press there. the 2nd day it was near my belly button and again it felt like the muscles. the 3rd day it was near my belly button and both the right and left lower part of my stomach.i dont get consistent pain pressing on parts of my stomach now. yesterday I had some loose stools and had to go to the bathroom 3 times. today it's just very mild intermittent pain (1-3/10) like it has been the last few days and it affects random spots on my lower stomach, 1/2 is on either side and 1/2 is around the belly button. it's brief, pinching, and cramp like. when I get pain it feels like it's in a small area and I can point exactly where it is but sometimes it's a larger area. it lasts about a second then goes away.
edit: now having pain on the right side of my rib cage towards the lower middle part of the ribs. it's 1-2/10 on its own but it hurts more to rub the specific spot directly. not constant pain and dull.
I did the test where you land hard on your heels, no pain. I tried the test where you raise your right leg under resistance, no pain. no consistent pain while walking. yesterday I started not feeling hungry but probably because I was scared of appendicitis but I still ate. not really feeling that hungry now but I will probably eat later. no rebound pain. I had a brief fever after eating once but it went away with no meds.no nausea. feeling a little tired but most likely from staying up late.

2024.06.09 16:00 BrodogIsMyName Frontier Fantasy - Chap 42

[First] [Previous] [Next]
WaveOfWire Edits :D
- - - - -
Harrison’s vision was still foggy from waking up, several blinks failing to clear the tears from his drawn-out yawn. He just escaped the encompassing embrace of his four-armed guardian, leaving their shared bed for the bathroom, where he would have to say goodbye to his beard. If he was going to travel out of the settlement, a proper seal on his gas mask was a must.
It was a shame. The slow buildup of the hair over the last month or so was a representation of his growth in a way, building up alongside his experiences in this hellhole, be they life-threatening or informative. It was almost like wiping the slate clean, even if cutting some chin scruff didn’t really change anything at all—he’d never be able to forget anything he had seen here for as long as he lived.
And there was no telling how long that’d be.
The engineer sighed, splashing the lukewarm barracks water into his face from one of the many wall-attached sinks, allowing him to fully open his eyes and size up the damage done to his favorite black blood-and-sweat-stained t-shirt. It always stayed in good condition with washing and fabricator repairs, but somehow Shar’s talons always found a way to make small holes in it. She wasn’t trying to, but with the way she fully wrapped her arms around him, the tips of her sharp fingers sometimes ended up poking into the fabric and causing some cuts.
It was such a small issue that he never considered bringing it up to her. Plus, she’d probably do her whole guilty talon-tapping thing with puppy eyes and all… He shook his head, letting the stray beads of water on his face drip into the sink.
His palm ran across his beard while his other hand reached for the razor. There wasn’t any shaving cream or the like, but he’d make do. At least he had one of the proper tools for the job. He went into the task, the blade driving through his scruff, slopping off wide areas of his hair from jaw to chin for a few seconds before it was interrupted.
A short ‘woosh’ of the entrance caught his attention.
“Aww, you’re shavin’ it off?” Tracy commented dejectedly through a yawn, the lazy drawl reinforcing the fact that she just woke up. “Th’ beard was sorta growin’ on me.”
He eyed her through the mirror, his voice coming out in a dull tone. “Yeah. I feel the same.”
She squinted under the bright bathroom lights, rubbing an eye with her wrist as she walked up to the sink beside him and started her own morning routine. “Mmm… Womp womp. Why though?”
“Need it to get a gas mask seal,” he stated flatly, focusing on the task at hand.
The technician stopped momentarily, the gears turning in her head before she gave him a downcast frown. “You’re still set on going for the vehicle bay? You know we can just send some long-range drones out there, right?”
His short exhale echoed throughout the tiled room. The engineer closed his eyes, already mentally withdrawn from the conversation. They've had this discussion twice now. “It’s to be better prepared for any chemical, biological, or radiological surprises that might come up—not just for the excursion. Even more importantly, there’s no guarantee the module is in perfect shape. If I’m there in person, I’ll have the means to get through anything for those blueprints. Plus, it should only be four days, so the only issues we have are my beard and finding a way to protect the Malkrin from the radiation while we’re out.”
Tracy looked like she wanted to say something back, but bit her lip and cast her eyes down at the sink in front of her, twisting the knob before mumbling a quiet response. “I don’t think you need to protect them from radiation at all…”
“Hmm?”
She stared at him meekly, his dismissal of her worries having clearly dampened her mood. Guilt tugged at the back of his mind before her words further caught his interest. “I think they’re immune… or resistant or something. Radiation immunity is the whole reason they were sent here. You’ve added up the pieces together too, right?”
He stared down at her, running a hand through his hair with tired exasperation depressing his voice. “Tracy, I’ve been trying my hardest to just make it another day on this God-forsaken planet, not dig into their religion. So, no. I have not spent the time to add up the pieces. Enlighten me, please.”
“…S-Sorry. I just, you know, get a lot of time to think when working on drones, and Cera has been drawing all kinds of representations of these things.” Tracy paused, gesturing toward the engineer. “Okay, so you remember the whole backstory for why the Malkrin are on the mainland in the first place?”
“Pseudo-eugenics?” he commented dryly.
“Yeah.” She nodded, a sense of excitement leaking into her voice. “And what were the parameters of banishing someone?”
“Not getting sick from a rock.”
She eyed him feverishly, brows raised with a sudden zeal. “Aaaaand that rock represented the Sky Goddess’ wrath, which did what?”
“Uhhh…” He looked upward in thought, recalling his conversation with the paladin. “I think Shar mentioned nausea, vomiting, blisters, skin melting… off…” He froze, the pieces forming. “Wait, you don’t think…”
“I do. Those symptoms could mean a lot of things, but the anomaly field was the real kicker. You know that Shar just straight up didn’t have any lingering radiation effects or anything while you were nearly put… six feet under…” Her voice quieted momentarily, the speed of her speech outpacing her train of thought. “Sorry. Um… so, I was gonna say that she, uh, I mean the scanner mentioned she had damage from ‘alpha particles’ on her skin, but nothing else happened to her organs or anything.”
Harrison squinted at her for a moment, mouth slightly opened and prepared to give some alternative reasoning besides ‘immunity.’ Maybe her armor protected her from it? No… she didn’t even have full protection, radiation would have certainly gotten around her eyes or snout. What about her height? What if… No.
He didn’t just want to believe that somehow the Malkrin could just evade a force of nature, but he didn’t have any way of proving or disproving it on hand… Well, no humane way of testing it.
“I… guess?” the engineer grumbled, rubbing his eyes. “Even then, they still need armor and gas masks. The worst part of the radiation isn’t even the ionizing part. It’s the trace elements that get into your lungs and decay there. So it doesn’t hurt to use some CBRN filters.”
“Fair… but it’s interesting, isn’t it?” Tracy beamed. “Like, what kind of evolutionary factors lead to radiation immunity? Why do only some of the Malkrin have it and others don’t?”
The only real cause of radiation he could think of would be a massive nuclear proliferation of some sort. Maybe the anomalies? He ran a hand through his hair, pushing the lingering thoughts away. “I wouldn’t know. You could always ask Sebas to bring up some papers about it or generate some theories when you get the chance.”
“I probably will at some point… Maybe while I’m working.” She poked him in the bicep. “You’re still helping me with the mule, right?”
He bobbed his head, loose beard hairs itching up his chin. “Sure am. Gimme a bit to shave and test the fifty-cal ammo, then I’ll be free to assist.”
“Kay Kay.” The tradeswoman smiled and returned to the sink, washing her face.
- - - - -
“What the hell did you do to your shield?” a stunned Harrison asked the paladin, his face scrunching up in concern… and confusion.
Sharky proudly held up her once grungy orange shield with a smile, looking at its new… paint job? “Artificer Tracy has s—n to imbue my bulwark with the crest of the Sky Goddess herself! Observe the b—utiful wings that cover it!”
The engineer had just got back from setting up and overseeing the automated mule’s first excursion to the mine and back. It was a grueling task, requiring him to reset its pathing several times before it was able to make a round trip without input. Now, the maroon-skinned Malkrin in front of him had apparently gotten her massive aegis laser imprinted with crossing wings in the two hours or so he’d been gone. The areas between the black feather decals were colored with white and blue paints, contrasting with the new dark gray background.
A small weight was placed on his shoulder, Tracy’s forearm suddenly appearing atop it despite her being nearly a foot shorter than him. She beamed, staring up at him with all-too-proud eyes. “The scout regiment symbol looks good on it, right? Cera helped me with the laser engraving.”
“I…” His brows raised in perplexity. “The scout regiment?”
She shrugged, watching the paladin observe her shield from all sorts of different angles underneath the workshop’s light fixtures. “From an anime I used to watch. Men and women who were sent out to battle against massive titans for the greater good of the last settlement of humanity. Somewhat fitting, and fuckin’ awesome on her big-ass shield! Matches the bird’s wings on her armor too.”
He loudly sighed. “You wasted materials on imprinting wings on Shar’s shield? Really?”
“Hey!” Her brows furrowed into faux-annoyance, a smug grin betraying it. “It’s not a waste if you were never gonna use the paint we had on hand. Plus, we’ve got energy to spare with all the wind turbines and power cells you’ve been printing out.”
“Those paints probably could have been used for important designations… or something…” he grumbled.
“Doesn’t matter.” She stuck her tongue out at him. “Anyway, want me to put some scary teeth or something on that big ‘ol fist-sized muzzle break on your shotgun?”
“No?” he took an incredulous step away from her, letting her arm fall off his shoulder and to her side.
“It’s okay to admit you’re jealous of Shar’s awesome decals, bro,” Tracy teased, her smugness growing tenfold. “No need to get defensive.”
He groaned, figuring there wasn’t a point in staying to bicker with the tradeswoman, leaving the two vanity-focused females to their devices. He still had to figure out how to fabricate armor and gas masks for the Malkrin and himself.
“Hey! Where ya goin?” the technician called out, clearly disappointed that he hadn’t indulged in her taunts.
“Work.”
Short taps against the hard floor sounded out as she caught up to him. She leaned forward and curiously looked up at him as she walked, holding her hands behind the small of her back. “What kind? Can I help?”
“Just need to take some measurements and compare options. Right… Speaking of which.” He turned around and cupped his palms around his mouth. “Hey Shar! Get over here, I need your help!”
The addressed Malkrin perked up, snapping out of the small haze of admiring her new shield and happily making her way toward him. She stood at attention, her tail oscillating side to side. “What n—d do you have of me?”
“Just a quick task,” he briefed her, grabbing some measuring tape from his desk… that Tracy had decided was her new chair. He sighed and turned his attention back to the paladin. “Can I bother you to lean down for a few seconds while I take some measurements?”
“Of course. Pl—se, take your time.” She stepped forward and kneeled, her head brought down to his height. Her face wore that simple content look he was growing all too accustomed to by now—slightly vibrating frills, a little curl upward of her lips, and warmly glowing eyes.
He wasted no time getting to work, noting down the various distances around her jaws, snout, eyes, and ears, already piecing together how he could cobble together some gas mask designs to fit the dimensions. She sat there quietly, sometimes leaning into the accidental head scratches adorably. It contrasted heavily with the cold-sweat-inducing layers of razor-sharp teeth within her muzzle as he measured the angle her maw opened at, bringing an idle curiosity prodded his mind.
“Say, Shar, do your teeth grow back if they fall out?” he poked, absently observing the dozens of triangular bone protrusions in her mouth as he held the underside of her jaw.
“They do,” she confirmed, the way she was able to speak despite not moving her mouth still messing with his head. “Do y—rs not?”
“Nope. Only once.”
She attempted to tilt her head, but quickly returned it when it left the embrace of his palm. “Only once?”
He nodded. “Yeah, sometime a few years after birth. They’re replaced with the teeth I have now. Don’t get any new ones, so we gotta take care of ‘em.”
“Birth?” The Malkrin’s eyes widened. “You were not cr—ted as you are now?”
A shock of stress poured down his spine like a bucket of ice water, raising the hairs on his back. Fuck. How did he let that slip? He was supposed to have just appeared from the sky to her, right…? He was doing so well for so long in keeping that in. God, had he really gotten so comfortable with the paladin that he simply forgot what he was to her? His teeth clenched, a huff of air escaping his nostrils as he lightly shook his head. It was a bit too late to backtrack. It could be explained vaguely and brushed off, right?
“Yeah. I was born,” he affirmed flatly. His hand dropped away from Shar’s muzzle, her head falling an inch or two before she registered that she couldn’t keep leaning into his touch. “That’s it for measurements, so you’re free to leave.”
A frown carved through her small smile. “I… See… F—give me if I have brought up someth—g improper.”
His exhalation burned through his frustration at himself, his hand running through his hair to wash away the spike of anxiety. “You’re fine. You haven’t done anything wrong.”
“Th-Then I shall take my leave,” the massive alien stated softly.
He nodded, feeling a little regretful for pushing the kindhearted Malkrin away as he shuffled back to his desk. Tracy was still sitting atop it, giving him a disappointed reaction with low brows, forcing a pointed reaction from him. “What?”
The technician took a long inhale before shrugging. “Nothin’.”
“…Alright.”
The rolling chair squeaked lightly as he rested himself, his hands already going through the motions of opening the computer and the blueprint folders. There were plenty of tabs open of sensors and motor assemblies he hadn’t closed from the previous night. That wasn’t even mentioning the pile of notes he had on proper radio-protective methods, their corners bent from his frequent flipping through them.
“Soooo…” The short black-haired woman leaned forward from her perch atop the only clear part of his desk. “Can I help you with your ‘comparing options’ work, mister busyman?”
“Sure…” He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, raising a brow. “How much do you know about armor?”
- - - - -
“No way. The back support is a must, so you can have extra plating over your shoulders and chest.” Tracy pointed out from her seat beside Harrison’s, all but forcing him to pause his Malkrin gas mask designing to give her argument his full attention.
He calmly took his hands off the mouse and keyboard. “A back support needs leg assistants, which means I’ll need to have at least a fifteen pound battery pack somewhere. Those kinds of exosuits are either all in or not at all. You can go full armor and engine, or lightweight protection and simple limb support.”
“So you’re just gonna go out there with normal armor? Just run-of-the-mill plates and gear? Those fucking things would go through that shit like butter! I know we can’t make synthetic muscle yet, but at least consider wearing something a bit more. Please. Even Sharky has heavy armor!”
Harrison pinched the bridge of his nose, his brows furrowed. “Do I look like a several-hundred kilogram monster of pure muscle to you? I’m more than willing to put on a few extra kilos for protection, but I’m trying to weigh the pros and cons of putting on more armor rather than more equipment. I’d rather fifty pounds of magazines and ammo than fifty pounds of armor. You know what I mean?”
“Yeah yeah… You and your storage space…” she mumbled, swiping through a few more images on her data pad when a familiar Mars-pattern suit showed up, catching his eye.
“Hey, wait, pull that one up…”
She rotated the tablet for him to see a little better—despite already being shoulder-to-shoulder with him. “This one? What’s so special about it?”
He analyzed the few pieces of equipment on screen, noting the rusty-orange and tan color scheme, the old Martian-American flag attached to its breastplate, and the iconic quad-nod integrated helmet. “Holy shit,” he whispered. “That’s… We have that in our blueprints?”
She raised a brow, clearly confused. “Whaddya mean?”
“That’s an Orbital Drop Ranger’s standard kit,” he stated slowly, a simmering sense of awe bubbling up—why the hell was it in their blueprints folder? “It was used during the Sino-Venusian incursion of southern Mars. It still has the Old Earth American flag embedded into it, so you know it’s pre twenty-two-hundred C.E.”
“Oh shit… Pre-St.Loual’s construction? This is ancient, then, huh? Would it be any good?” She leaned in closer to him, eying the tablet further.
“Does it have the assembly view of the armored pieces?”
“Mmhmm.” She tapped a few icons, showing an isometric, exploded view of all the parts and their individual components.
It was a piece of history alright. The armor was produced just about the time when Mars was connecting their orbital stations and ground colonies to work in tandem, allowing for specialized forces to be trained in space and launched anywhere across the planet from drop pods in mere minutes, leading to common nickname of ‘Minutemen’ given to the troopers. The suits were expertly designed to withstand the harsh environments of Mars and give the soldiers the ability to engage with enemy combatants for several days before extraction, though the adept units usually completed their objectives within twenty-four hours of their landing.
The helmet was very angular and blended in with the expected rocky terrain of Mars, each component taking on a sloped frontal design with rectangular prisms flowing behind—radio, breathing apparatus, and vision modules all sharing a sleek, yet bulky look in their own right. It reminded him of some in-atmosphere ships, with the overhanging visor above the quad-nod viewport being the only non-aerodynamic pieces.
The chest and legs were a bit different, following the design of late twenty-second-century operators with tan lightweight rigs, and ammunition pouches alongside armored plates that ran from the shoulders to wrists in segments. There was a rusty-orange undersuit beneath it all for the purpose of keeping air in, which required some sturdy polymer structures to ensure it didn’t rip. Then, of course, there were the classic shock-absorbing leg supports. They weren’t too far off what Tracy was asking about earlier, but these ones didn’t provide any assistance in moving with any motors—just straight-up structural reinforcements.
Hell, the blueprints on screen even had the mag-grip gloves used to scale domes, buildings, and satellites alike. There was no doubt that the Orbital Drop Rangers had some of the coolest equipment on Mars, especially considering that it was the last to keep the ‘operator’ look… It was such a shame the government decided the orb-like helmets and rounded bubble armors were more effective.
“Hey, you know what?” he asked the technician, a shot of excitement in his voice. “This might actually work out as a suitable armor replacement.”
She perked up, her brows raised. “Oh? Actually?”
He shrugged, trying to play off the smirk plastered on his face. “Wouldn’t need a horrible amount of changes to work for our purposes. Just need to remove the oxygen converter on the back and put a gas mask replacement in the front portion of the helmet. Plus, we could probably get rid of the airtight aspect and just keep the undersuit for scratch protection. And, most importantly, it’s radio-protective.”
“Meets all your criteria, then?” She tapped through some UI interfaces, sending the armor assembly to Harrison’s monitor, which he accepted quickly.
“Sure does.” He readily clicked through the different parts and systems to differentiate what needed to be kept. “We have the resources for it, and all it needs is a layer of cadmium plus a few replacements. Definitely doesn’t need the heads-up display since there’s nothing for it to interact with either, so that’ll save on print time and materials too. Shame I cut up the beard… the Orbital Drop Rangers were allowed to have some cool ones.”
The tradeswoman scooted in even closer, practically resting her chin on his shoulder and watching him sift through the working parts. “Yeah, rest in peace, beard. Still, your armor situation is solved. What about the Malkrin?”
“I’ll be working on their gas masks, then I was thinking I’d use another one of your modeled armors for their protection since they’ve helped Shar a hell of a lot. Do you have any recommendations?”
“Mmmmm…” She looked up in thought, a smile forming along her cheeks. “You know, until we can make them any real power armor, I was thinking just some regular phobos-pattern armor. Could color ‘em based on their skin too.”
“Phobos-pattern armor?” he hummed to himself, clicking through the folder to find it. It was just as bulky as Shar’s armor, except it appeared a good bit smoother, with more rounded edges compared to her horns-and-spike-lined gauntlets and pauldrons. The blue suit Tracy was proposing didn’t have the four-armed protection compared to the chaos version, but it certainly had the same thickness of its metal plates. “Looks like it’d work pretty well. Does it have any electric components or anything?”
“No…” she huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. “Not so good with designing that stuff in the modeling program I did the WarHarberd stuff in. Could add in more sophisticated leg support or whatever if you gave me time, but for now it’s just maneuverable slabs of alloy.”
“I think that’s all we need for the time being.” He shrugged. “I just don’t want the others to be vulnerable to getting cut up by the little spider-crab grunts.”
“As long as it works for what we need, then.” Her elbow poked into his arm. “Here, how about I take care of that armor stuff while you finish up the gas masks? They need the extra arm slots too, yeah?”
“I’d actually appreciate that a lot.” He offered her a back-palm fist bump, to which she eagerly took, taking on a grin that he mirrored. “Thanks, Trace.”
“Don’t mention it. I wish work was always just doing my hobbies like this.”
\= = = = =
A grand pylon of metal construction taller than the mightiest female’s frills stood atop the beach. Blue-scaled surfaces extended near the foot of the tower, gathering the power of the sun itself. The lattice layering upon their sides hid the weaving wires and Goddess-blessed machinery. A staff the same as Shar’khee’s peeked from its top, the glass eye on its side given a wide view of the sandy environment it resided on, the defense it now provided becoming absolute. The aura it exuded as a creature of pure metal was awe-inspiring, its mere presence a showing of Harrison’s might and domain.
No abhorrent would dare step foot upon the meadow’s rolling hills, for such a mistake would ensure their immediate execution for encroaching upon his settlement—the ‘fifty-cal-e-bur’ bullet is not one to rend any beast with only simple injuries, especially with three hundred of them available at once.
The maroon-skinned paladin treaded up the hill, having completed her task of setting up the last turret. The craftsman, the juvenile, and the lumberjack had also assisted with its setup, pulling their weight in both mind and muscles to piece the components together. They completed a few others around the modules already, but this one was done without the star-sents’ oversight. The four Malkrin had practiced and learned enough to be entrusted with such.
The idea of Harrison having enough confidence in them sparked much conviction in the group, each of them more than eager to prove him right—none more so than Shar’khee herself, of course.
She finally returned to the workshop, the sun’s last rays pressing into the back of her head and frills as she crouched beneath the doorway, a small gnawing hunger for dinner digging within her stomach. The cacophony of machines soon reached her ears, the sounds of their efforts almost working in tandem with the strange melodic music playing from an unseen source above her.
Tracy was in her corner, working on new beings of metal as always. The bright lights above were turned off in favor of smaller, warmer emplacements atop her surrounding circle of desks. A hard worker, that star-sent was, though both of them were like that, the paladin supposed. Their kind was certainly intent on keeping their hands busy.
Shar’khee passed through the snakes of machines, finding her way to Harrison’s desk with an increasingly strong sway in her tail. He was working with a black object with light gray accents. It appeared to be partially flexible, yet firm in other places—notably, a large glass fixture on one side of it. There was very little she could make out about its purpose, but with the delicate touches he applied, it appeared to be quite important.
Her tongue clicked twice, garnering the attention of the Creator. He paused his work, swiveling his chair to face her and revealing a long blue-leaf jutting from his mouth. Her male appeared quite tired, but his voice did not show it.
“Oh, Shar, what’s up? Did y’all need any help with the last turret?”
She shook her head. “We do not n—d such, for it is completed. Would you care to join me for din—r? The rest of the settlem—t is enjoying their meals as of now. ”
He raised his brows before looking back at the myriad of notes, tools, and materials atop his cluttered desk. “Well, I’m kinda busy, but…” His jaw rolled around in contemplation. “Here. Let’s just test this thing real quick.”
Her head tilted. “What sh—l we be testing?”
“Your gas mask… er, well, a Malkrin gas mask. Kneel down real quick, I’ll run ya through putting it on.” He stepped off his chair and grabbed the equipment, uncomfortably rotating his shoulders. How long was he sitting on that chair? The male approached her and she did as requested. “I had the sewist help me with some of the design. Never considered you guys would ever wear hats.”
She nodded. “It is unh—lthy for one to have their frills touched by the sun for so long. Adequate shade is a must, and trees are not so p—valent along farm land.”
“Mmhmm. Shame this is just a mask… Alright, this might be a bit uncomfortable, but it’ll do the job.”
He stepped forward and slipped the black apparel onto her snout, pushing it over her face until it pressed against the sides of her head. A cool material rubbed against her skin, locking her into its embrace. It was encapsulating, surrounding her wholly.
Her breaths strengthened as she allowed the mask to cover her, a short shock of nervousness riding down her spine. She was only now registering how vulnerable she was, allowing him to possibly suffocate her… but she stayed put, keeping her four palms rested within her lap as he continued to apply the straps around her ears. She would allow it. She trusted him with her life. She would not falter.
The cords around the back of her head were tight, a few of which went along both sides of her frills, pushing up against their sides. He kept going, ensuring a ‘seal,’ but it was getting much too—
Pop.
A lightning bolt of pain rolled throughout the top of her head, sending her reeling. It stung for the briefest of moments, but its effects rebounded through her entire body, short sparks pulsing from its origin. She felt nothing but its agonizing hold for several more moments as the rest of her body caught up.
When her eyes opened once more, she found herself on the floor and staring at the ceiling. The star-sent rushed to her side, appearing to ask many questions while looking over her head, but all she heard was a piercing ring and the gruff vocalization he made whenever he shared his intent. No words reached her mind, only the now faint phantom pains from where her frills met her skull. It put everything in a haze, her eyes barely settling on her dearest’s, despite how nauseous she had become.
His deft hands quickly worked to loosen the straps, practically ripping them off until his voice suddenly reached her, like breaching the surface of the water. His voice was deep, attempting to be calculating, yet despite his calmly created stoic demeanor… she could feel his panic, his sheer worry almost flooding her senses through practiced medical queries. She slowly sat up on the floor, holding herself with two arms while the other pair quelled the kneeling male, assuring him that she was alright with their weight resting atop his shoulders.
“I am well, dearest Harrison. Do not fret for me. The straps were simply too tight.”
His anxious breaths barely slowed, narrowly allowing for his exclamation. “Too tight? Shar, you practically blacked out!”
“Too tight upon my frills, I mean. There was a pain there for a few moments, but it has passed,” she returned calmly, softly kneading his stiff shoulders with the joints of her digits.
He exhaled sharply, matching her gaze with regret in his eyes. “I’m so sorry, Shar. I should’ve known. I was just trying to see how…” He paused, resting his palm atop her forearm. “Nevermind. I just… Are you alright? Should I get you to the med bay for a quick scan?”
“I do not believe that to be necessary, no.”
His guard finally fell. “If… If you say so. Guess I have to redo the straps then. Definitely gotta make sure they’re not pressing on your frills like that.”
She smiled, appreciating his dedication. “Would you like my assistance?”
“As long as you don’t have anything else to do.” He shrugged, his shoulders barely moving upward against her massaging hands.
“There is no greater wish of mine than to be by your side,” she stated warmly.
He was frozen, the soft ministrations of his digits along her arm slowly stopping in contrast to the red flush growing from his cheeks to his ears. The crack of a smirk on his face finally with a short, heart-warming chuckle brought the statue back to life after a few moments. “You know… that’s probably the sweetest thing I’ve heard for years.”
Her brows raised in subtle surprise at his response. “It… was not intended to be such… However… you are more than welcome. You must understand by now that I am speaking only the truth.”
The two of them sat there in relative silence amongst the desks and machines; her half laying on the ground with her hands on his shoulder, and him on his knees by her side, a singular hand running up and down her comparatively large forearm. She felt… weak, in a way. A vibrating sensation rummaged through her stomach, attempting to pull her muscles and nerves astray.
It was warm, just like his palm, each motion of his hand sending lightning through her skin. The upward curl of her lips into her cheeks was suddenly an insurmountable force, incapable of being put down by a thousand females. There was a tear within her to either look away or… close the distance, and she suddenly found looking anywhere but his curious green eyes to be a waste of her time.
Her talons wrapped further around his shoulders and his back, ever so slightly bringing him into her embrace—
“A-HEM.” A voice cut the moment down to its knees. “The fuck happened here?” Tracy’s swift interjection caused the paladin to flinch backwards, allowing her to see that Harrison’s other hand had been hovering right beneath her snout. The female star-sent wore a furrowed brow and crossed arms, looking down at them. “I heard a crash and came over. Are you two alright?”
Harrison cleared his throat, ever-so-subtly scooting away from the paladin. “Uh, yeah. Shar fell because, um, I tied the gas mask a lil’ too tight.”
The artificer wore an expression that told of her disbelief. “She fell because of the gas mask?”
“It was something with her frills.” The male returned with a shrug, picking himself off the floor before offering the paladin a hand up.
She took it, despite not requiring it, and wiped off some loose dust from her pants. The three of them quickly returned to work soon after, with both her and the black-haired star-sent joining Harrison in his quest to produce the gas mask. She was much less… What did the Creator call it? Bubbly? Yes, that was it. She was much less bubbly than usual, sometimes sending a cold yet emotionless glare toward Shar’khee… Nevertheless, the two females offered input on the design and applied help where they could, eventually creating the final piece of equipment.
Tracy commented on its looks, apparently drawing inspiration from the Leviathan itself, as she believed it to be like that of a ‘Sea Dragon’s.’ The maw-covering portion held two cylindrical canisters on the adjacent sides, the bottom portion being capable of distention, so that the user’s mouth may open somewhat. Its motion created what the female star-sent believed to be ‘the coolest teeth design on a mask’ she’d ever seen with how the separation formed alternating triangles.
The monster-like appearance was furthered by her own frills and horns that peeked out from behind the mask. That was not even mentioning the see-through visor that formed a malicious glare of sharp brows. The paladin looked through a hand-held mirror, finding it difficult to disagree with the look. She could imagine the horror on a fisherwoman’s face as such a terrifying creature approached from the depths.
And yet, despite its nightmarish visage, it was apparel designed to save lives, not take them—much unlike the unassuming metal rods that spewed fire with a mere flick of a lever. Curious indeed. The star-sents were seemingly never out of surprises. They even spoke of grand robots and firearms larger than Shar’khee herself as possible future projects.
Only time could tell what machinations of alloy would be birthed from their hands.

2024.06.09 15:56 mywaggle Understanding Heat Stroke in Puppies: Causes, Symptoms, Treatment, and Prevention

Heatstroke is a serious threat to dogs of all ages, but puppies are especially vulnerable due to their developing body temperature regulation and heightened risk of organ damage. Let's dive into the symptoms, causes, and treatment of heatstroke in puppies, along with some valuable prevention tips. We can ensure our little furry companions stay safe and healthy by staying informed and taking the right precautions.

Understanding Heat Stroke in Puppies

When a dog's temperature rises too high, it can cause heatstroke, a severe form of hyperthermia. Unlike heat exhaustion, where the body struggles to cool down, heatstroke occurs when the body's temperature regulation fails. Due to their smaller size and less effective heat dissipation, Puppies are particularly vulnerable, especially in prolonged heat exposure.

Defining Heatstroke in the Context of Puppies

In short, heatstroke is a dangerous increase in body temperature, typically over 104 degrees Fahrenheit, caused by exposure to hot temperatures or environments. Puppies are especially at risk due to their smaller size, underdeveloped temperature regulation, and higher chance of organ failure. Unlike older dogs, puppies may have difficulty cooling themselves, emphasizing the need for quick action to avoid serious health issues.

How Puppies Are Susceptible to Heatstroke

Puppies are more prone to heatstroke than adult dogs because their temperature regulation systems are not fully developed. They have trouble cooling down efficiently when exposed to heat for long periods, putting them at risk even with slight temperature increases. Certain factors, like breeds with shorter muzzles, can make cooling down even more challenging for puppies. Pet owners must take extra care to prevent heatstroke in puppies, which can lead to organ damage and other serious health issues.

Identifying Symptoms of Heatstroke in Puppies

Recognizing heat stroke symptoms in puppies is crucial for prompt intervention and treatment. These signs can include physical changes and altered behavior. Being attentive to these signals allows pet owners to quickly cool down their puppies and seek veterinary assistance if necessary. Let's delve into these signs to ensure timely care for our furry friends.

Heatstroke Symptoms in Puppies

Look for heavy panting, lethargy, reddened gums, a rapid heart rate, weakness, or collapse in puppies—these are serious symptoms of heatstroke that require immediate attention. Recognizing these signs promptly can help prevent complications. Keep your furry friend cool and vigilant to ensure their well-being and safety during hot weather.

Behavioral Changes Indicative of Heatstroke in Puppies

Are you noticing agitation or confusion in your puppy? Keep an eye out for signs of disorientation or excessive restlessness. Any uncharacteristic behaviors could be a red flag for distress, as heatstroke may influence your puppy's usual actions. Stay vigilant for any unusual antics—they might be your pup's way of communicating discomfort.

Causes Leading to Heatstroke in Puppies

Puppies can experience heat stroke due to various causes, including environmental factors and puppy-specific vulnerabilities. High outside temperatures, lack of shade, and excessive physical activity can lead to heat exhaustion. Puppies, especially older or bigger breeds, with poor blood flow regulation are at a higher risk. Pet owners must monitor their dog's temperature and keep them cool in hot weather to prevent organ failure.

Environmental Factors Causing Heatstroke

Closed cars can become extremely hot quickly in the summer, putting puppies at risk. Do not leave your dog alone in parked cars to avoid heatstroke.

2024.06.09 15:53 gargoylin Success so far

I just want to let you guys know Ozempic is working for me and this community has been so helpful so I want to give back.
I have hypothyroidism and insulin resistance and a history of restrictive disordered eating/ED (orthorexia.) Also CPTSD and depression. BMI is high thirties but I’m super muscular. Prediabetic at 5.7 A1C. Long history of doing a lot of mental health therapy and meditation, yoga, dance, working out, every holistic thing on the planet, and even too healthy of a diet to the point it was causing mental distress.
I did four weeks each on .25 and .5. And the results are in:
-Daily loose stool I’ve had for years is gone within days of starting first dose.
-Depression that can be severe occurs notably less severe and often. There is an element of just not seeming to care as much or being too tired to care.
-Waking up in the morning is significantly easier. This has been a major issue as I am extremely groggy and even confused in the mornings and can’t wake up even when it’s important. It makes me late to work often. But I’m waking up a lot more refreshed.
-Seems to have increased REM sleep because I am dreaming much more often. I used to sleep well and score in the low eighties or high seventies according to my Fitbit before Oz but I haven’t worn it since starting Ozempic and need to retest it now. I used to be slightly low in REM compared to deep and light sleep but mostly within normal range.
-Appetite significantly suppressed and was eating less.
-Continued eating almost like normal otherwise and continued working out intensely a few hours per week and continuing my healthy lifestyle. Was afraid to drink but never drank a lot in the first place. The few drinks I had didn’t affect me too much.
-Side effects blessedly minimal with mild nausea 2-3x a week or so that I can tie to hunger pains reimagined by my brain. One chewable pepto gets rid of it.
-More fatigued during the day somehow but not sleepy. I’ve also worked really hard last year, so I’m burnt out and this could be the cause instead of the medicine. I’m resting a lot more.
-Fluctuating weight that seemed to be trending downward but I not a significant loss overall, up to ten pounds between highest and lowest weight but I weigh in the high 200s so not big for me. And it really goes up and down a lot.
-I have lost over a foot in inches according to methreesixty! I feel slimmer to the touch. I can really see it in the app.
-cravings for sugar increased kind of significantly. It’s not something I struggled with much before the medicine in the last few years.
Just started 1mg a week and two days ago. Since then:
-Weight loss seems to be really starting to kick in. A little too early to tell due to fluctuations but I it looks very promising.
-I can usually only eat twice a day instead of three times. Food is not super interesting to me. Never was actually, and before Oz eating felt like a chore sometimes. I’m relieved to not be physically hungry as I’m not mentally hungry.
-One day I did have pretty bad diarrhea with cold sweats and had to take an Imodium after having one drink and some fried chicken the night before. Unsure if that was just more like food poisoning or what because alcohol and fried foods didn’t bother me in the low doses.
-Cravings for sugar now reduced.
-Sick with a sinus infection now so I can’t tell how I’m doing beyond this yet.
TL;DR doctors suck sometimes. My OB gyn PA originally said she would write me a prescription for this years ago, and I wish I had started then. She had the good sense to check me for insulin resistance when my A1c was normal, and I did have prediabetes back then, but I had to started drinking more with a group of friends, and when I stopped drinking a few months later my A1C was totally normal again.
I was still thinking that I could do this myself, and was judging myself more than I care to admit now. I was offended by the suggestion I was that fat because I’m constantly offended by the fat phobia in our society, and people thinking I don’t live a healthy lifestyle or am not fit, because I am very fit and very healthy overall. Gave myself a damn eating disorder trying so hard. She is the one that I ended up messaging to get this prescription two or so years later as I’m still her patient. The sub and others like it have helped me realize that I really have medical conditions that I was trying to just white knuckle. I’m still getting used to the fact that I deserve help and trying to understand that I’m worthy of it. I sometimes wonder if whatever this drug does increases our sense of worthiness somehow because I find it really interesting how it works for addicts, too, and worthiness is often a main issue with addiction.
The first doctor I asked about this when I decided to do it basically told me that some people can die, and that he doesn’t recommend it because one of the side effects can be death. He insisted that insurance didn’t cover it. At the end he didn’t even put in my prescription for Wegovy I asked for as discussed until I messaged him afterwards, and then he finally put the prescription in but he still never did the prior authorization according the the pharmacy. I realized some doctors just don’t want to do this.
My other doc frustrated me so I messaged my original Doctor who suggested it. She had the prior authorization in immediately. I ended up asking for Ozempic because it seemed easiest to get. My insurance covers this completely for me with a $35 per co-pay. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield federal. So yes, some doctors suck. Get you a new doctor. I messaged the one that wasn’t supportive and let him know that it was covered, and I never received a reply. Ha ha.

2024.06.09 15:52 Fancy_Initial2192 Lenovo legion 9i Fan Speed and Power Management issues

Lenovo legion 9i Fan Speed and Power Management issues
Hello. I'm a newbie here so pardon my mistakes. I already posted another one and i have no idea what happened but it disappeared.
I have checked the other related posts but my laptop shows some additional symptoms so that's why I decided to create another one and get your advise.
Bought the laptop for a great price a few days ago. It's an expedition price but the condition seems really good. Under warranty as well but there are complications.
Jumping into the details:
Firstly, two days ago out of nowhere the Wi-Fi connection was gone, showing no Wi-Fi network available. I checked on phone and there were many available connections. Restarting didn't help. Windows network reset didn't help. Disabling enabling in device manager didn't help. It was also showing 'status_device_power_failure' for Mediatek Wi-Fi 7 lan card(will add the photo) . I managed to solve with another redditors suggestion by pressing power button to reset Wi-Fi and BT module.
Yesterday, the strange thing started with the fan. The fan speed accelerates quickly hits the max and drops. It's like breathing and randomly happening. Sometimes accelerates decelerates quickly in just a sec. Sometimes accelerates and stays on max for period randomly and drops again. All these happening during idle. I don't run anything heavy. I have no idea what causes this but lots of users complains after bios updates. Whatever the threshold they set the fan seems to be working right after that threshold. Instead of keeping a steady run, it chooses to go min and max out upon request.
On the top of all these, I see the rgb lights flickering. I set constant blue mode and randomly sth happens in the background causing it to to flicker. Also during the games(such as Tomb Raider), the game flickers, slows down like it's gonna crash and barely saves itself...
I will put a video recording showing you both fan speed and flickering issue. Luckily managed to get both at the same time because they happen randomly...
https://youtu.be/m2SGcw7muHc?si=ilMUB30Ug7mKic1k
I don't want to return this laptop due to the deal I got. It seems have premium warranty coverage but in another country. I'll try to ask and learn how it works from the seller.
Is there an easy way to fix this instead of dealing with all the underclocking? Seems like while Intel trying to catch up with Amd, they seem to be messing up with QC. if I paid for 13980hx, I'd like to get its performance not the performance from a inferior products by paying more money...
Could you please give some advise? What would you do if you were me?
Thanks in advance.

2024.06.09 15:46 forbiddencroissant Gut health and vaginal health (there's hope!)

Hi! I've been thinking of sharing how I finally stopped getting recurrent infections after nearly two years.
I had never been irritation/infection prone prior to getting my third covid shot (years later, there's multiple papers coming out stating the shots can cause dysbiosis... Drs. keep saying no of course!).
At some point I was dealing with one, even two infections in a month.. I was going insane. And even while not having an active infection I would get crazy irritation. Two showers in a day? Itchy. Sex? Itchy for three days. Sweat? Itchy. Period? Itchy. You get the picture.
Got a billion blood tests and had doctors shrugging saying everything looked fine and that sometimes "shit happens". Istg if I hear "you're a woman, this is normal" even one more time..
A doctor prescribed Fluconazole each month on the fifth day of my period, for six months. This seemed to make sense since I figured my healthy bacteria was just not getting enough time to recover and my monthly hormonal fluctuations were somehow messing with everything. It all seemed to work.. until it didn't. Got an infection literally the day after my last dose.
Anyway. I tried every product in the market, switched condom brands, soaps, detergents, lubes, changed my diet, spent hundreds on probiotics, even stopped having sex for a while and NOTHING.WORKED.
And when I brought up the possibility of my gut health affecting my vaginal health doctors would just say it wasn't possible or just straight ignored me. Literally saw about 10 gynos and a couple GPs in the span of two years.
As desperate as I was, decided I had nothing to lose and got a "Candida Support" supplement off Amazon AND started eating a raw clove of garlic every day. The supplement contains a bunch of things. Including garlic, aloe vera powder extract, caprylic acid, oregano powder and more.
Guys. Sorry for the TMI but within 5 days i got super loose stools. Even saw some mucus in there. Got some joint pain too and like a general "sick feeling". And then it all went away within 3-5 days.
This was 3 months ago. Since, I haven't gotten any migraines, infections, sleep got better, digestion got better, and no irritation. It was all correlated all along.
So anyway. If you keep treating your infections and they keep recurring.. the problem might be somewhere else. The body is an ecosystem y'all. Really hope this is helpful for anyone out there.

2024.06.09 15:34 Kanes-Observation Advice Needed

I have never had stomach issues or pain in my entire life until four months ago. I am praying someone has had similar symptoms because nobody knows what's happening.
I'll start from the beginning. I started eating healthy and exercising. I included oatmeal, grilled chicken, blueberries, greens, brown rice, healthy fats from virgin olive oil and almond butter, and eggs in my diet. My food macros were on point. After about two weeks, I started getting a dull ache under my right ribs. I didn't think much of it, but it started to get worse over the next few weeks and would radiate to my back.
I went to the ER. They did blood work and a CT scan with contrast but found nothing wrong. I noticed my stools were slightly lighter. Over the next few weeks, the pain worsened, and I felt fatigued and terrible. They checked my gallbladder, ran more blood work, and did an MRCP to check my pancreas; all came back good. They checked me for Celiac disease. I had an endoscopy and a colonoscopy, both of which came back amazing.
I finally asked the doctor to check my vitamin levels because I felt like I was deficient in something. Everything came back okay except my vitamin D, which was extremely low, which isn't normal for me. They did a stool sample and said everything was fine. I started taking vitamin D3, and my joints started feeling better. At this point, I got extremely depressed. I was still in pain and kept being told I was fine.
I stopped eating healthy and started eating poorly because I was so depressed. Here is where it gets strange. Over the course of six weeks of eating complete garbage, I started feeling better. My stools looked great in size and color. I still had that pain on my right side, right under my ribs, but it became just a slight dull ache that I lived with.
For three weeks, I started eating healthy again, and bam, two weeks into it, my symptoms were in full swing. The pain is bad and always hurts much worse when I am sitting, like I am squashing something inside. My stools look different, like they have grains in them, which is new. I can't figure out for the life of me what's wrong with me, and neither can any doctor I have seen. But something serious is happening, and I am just so lost.
I am praying someone knows what's up

2024.06.09 15:32 zerothinstance I think I got scammed :"] (slight vent)

This might be the wrong sub, but I don't care at this point. I'm 19 yo, visited a psych clinic alone today to get an initial assessment (which costed Php1,500) particularly for ADHD. It was a 1-hour session.
I have all of the symptoms for the inattentive type listed in the DSM5 criteria. I have at least 3 friends who also have symptoms. They think I might have it. I think (thought?) I have it. My father also has symptoms.
I thought it was a great session at first, I got assessed and it appeared I have some severe symptoms for some mental conditions (depression & dissociation, particularly) just as I fully expected. But when the psychometrist said "Huwag kang mag-alala, wala kang ADHD. Di ka makaka-sit still nang ganyan kung meron (I noticed I fidgeted but I didn't move around the couch)" it upset and broke me. Nagulat nalang ako na I was on the verge of tears na. In my head I was like "Not having that one symptom meant I didn't have it at all? Then what the heck am I??"
Two years ago I had cycled between thinking "Huh, maybe I have ADHD" and "Nah, it might be something else', and I did consider Autism but if I couldn't possibly have ADHD then that was even less likely. I simply could not resonate with any other condition/disorder.
The past two years I did not have the money, but now that I'm a scholar I decided I should try it. It was an impulsive decision. Three days before the visit they asked me to pay in advance and I immediately sent them it without questions. I really really am so fed up of every mess I do and I thought I really needed a diagnosis so I could finally get medicated because I know I can't stand any other treatment and it seemed to worked wonders according to content creators who are diagnosed with the condition. The session was just the psychometrist asking questions and filling up forms for one hour, yet it costed 15x my daily allowance nung high shool. Result? I got advice I could've gotten from the internet (i.e. The 5-minute thingy, and continuing with my coping mechanisms) thought I would feel more connected with myself once I had an initial assessment but somehow now I feel dejected.
I assumed the Php1,500 covered the entire ordeal but the psychometrist said the next session will cost a little more because then some tools will be used. I'm mad at them and I'm mad at myself and if this is how it's like everywhere then how are people supposed to get treated? I'm both upset about the cost and the hasty conclusion that I didn't have ADHD. I've been typing this for like an hour I could've finished three of my school activities in that time but snejdhahhrndj I hate this place
TLDR; Paid Php1,500 for an initial assessment, got told I don't have ADHD by a registered professional because I didn't fidget enough(?), realised this is too expensive for what it's worth, and now I feel useless and stupid for subscribing to that service.
