According to TV Tropes Akechi is a Dark Magical Girl
2024.05.29 02:48 Zackarix According to TV Tropes Akechi is a Dark Magical Girl
From the trope page: The traitor, Goro Akechi, also pretty much fits the bill apart from being male. They're a bastard child who was passed around an assortment of abusive foster homes after their mother committed suicide out of shame, their father having abandoned them before their birth. As such, their ultimate desire is receiving love and affection; Akechi not only revels in the public adulation he receives as "the second coming of the Detective Prince", but willingly becomes The Dragon for his evil birth father as part of a twisted revenge plan to make his father finally acknowledge him. On top of that, Akechi has the same "Wild Card" power as the protagonist; however, Akechi's borderline sociopathy means that unlike the protagonist, he's unable to cultivate the genuine friendships needed to unlock the wide assortment of Personas available to the hero. Finally, they're incredibly envious of the protagonist, as shown in their Motive Rant:
From his character sheet: The Spear Counterpart is what he is, at his core. He desperately wants the love and affection neither parent gave him, preferably from his actual living parent. Unlike most examples of the trope though, he can't let himself accept anything less.
I don't know if I like some of the phrasing, but maybe I'm just too much of a fan to be objective.
What do you think of this assessment? Is this an accurate trope to apply to Akechi?

2024.05.29 02:37 The_Naked_Buddhist I am currently watching through the Wendigoon portion of the video; wtf this is the craziest most insane thing I've heard.
I found elsewhere a reupload someone did solely the Wendigoon part of the video, I am currently going through it and will update this thread to basically sum up what is being said. Below I'll start by just copy pasting the comment I started to track this. This won't be refined at all; it's just my blind reaction here cause this is just insane stuff.
__________________-
This is the video people are upset he removed? I'm barely a minute in and already IPOS is coming across as incredibly condescending and completely unreasonable.
Like I have a degree in English literature, IPOS is just being snobbish from the off complaining that people who are in their twenties shouldn't be discussing classic literature.
Edit: Also just checked there and Wendigoon is currently 24, and was 23 at the release of the Blood Meridian video. So the opening statement is just blatnatly factually wrong. Context: IPOS claims Wendigoon is currently 21 years old.
Edit 2: WTF, he is now claiming that Wendigoon is part of a family ran crime organization. He provides no evidence for this bar a quote he claims came from Wendigoon. But he plays no clip of him making such a statement. According to IPOS Wendigoon's entire father's side of the family was part of a multi-million crime organisation that was busted by the FBI. IPOS brings this up to claim that Wendigoon has always been a millionaire his entire life.
Edit 3: He now is claiming Wendigoon can't make horror content cause his believes are contrary to what IPOS believes horror is about; the believes in question being "Gun usage" and "using his religion as a shield." I don't see how any of this is contrary to horror as a genre.
Edit 4: He has now went on to discuss the old Rittenhouse screenshots showing Wendigoon following him and tweeting about the trail. IPOS however claims these are only some in a series of tweets made by Wendigoon supporting far right individuals, he provides no screenshots of these tweets existence. He is now going on about the Boogaloo boy's thing while pointing to Wendigoon's reddit comment on the issue as evidence that he founded them as a hate group.
He is claiming that Wendigoon must secretly support the Boogaloo boys and be a racist cause he wears haiwan shirts and that's what some Boogaloo boys also wear. IPOS themselves is wearing a haiwan shirt the whole video. He also is claiming that Wendigoon must secretly be a member cause he became a horror youtuber afterwards.
Edit 5: Forwarded most of the next part, it's just him reading Wendigoon's comment and now analysing it. The "analyse" claims that Wendigoon is wrong about the term Boogaloo coming from Che Guavara (despite Wendigoon never saying that) and therefore is secretly racist. They also claim that the term Boogaloo only started being used online from 2010-2012 exlcusively among racists on the internet, as such Wendigoon is racist cause he can't possible be a founder of the movement. (Despite him never saying that.) Apparently because Wendigoon lied about founding the organisation he must be lying about other things too.
Edit 6: Now Wendigoon is secretly racist cause he used the term "Antifa members" rather than just "Antifa" and supposedly only the alt right do such a thing. Now he's addressing that Wendigoon couldn't possible have invented the term Boogaloo (despite Wendigoon never saying that, and just coming off a tangent of claiming that Wendigoon said they got the term from Che Guavara.)
Edit 7: He's now getting into Wendigoon's "Other far right" connections, listing among them Internt Historian. Again he provides no evidence whatsoever to show Wendigoon's "close friendships" with these people or what they supposedly had done. On the list he also mentions Nick Crowley and says that Wendigoon follows him and the Crowley is sick in the head for making true crime content and is suspicious cause he follows some of the same people Wendigoon does. WTAF! That's called a social circle! How tf is that suspicious!? (Also IPOS is a horror youtuber as well, why tf are they throwing shade at Crowley for doing true crime topics then?)
Edit 8: The next few minutes is just more stream of the above bizarre tangents. He just keeps listing people and for the most part fails to explain who they are and what they did, and provides no evidence for any statement he's making. If there is evidence it's like one tweet, and sometimes doesn't even seem related to his claim in anyway. The few names I recognised I know IPOS had to apologise too after getting the info wrong. I have to share one gem though where he says he can't find any evidence of a connection between Wendigoon and one youtuber, but people say they are and therefore they must be. WTF!
Edit 9: He references some controversy about the Faith video using fan art without permission and claims Wendigoon never took responsibility for it, while literally showing a tweet of Wendigoon taking responsibility for the mistake.
Edit 10: He's now going on about the Wendigo being mentioned by Wendigoon. He is claiming that Wendigoon is not of native American descent and that he's lying about that cause Wendigoon is racist and apparently racisits are known to lie about being Native Americans.
Edit 11: He now claims to know where Wendigoon lives, down to the exact town. But also states Wendigoon is in a completely different state and that they have multiple towns in between them plus a reservation. He claims everyone in the region is racist, and therefore Wendigoon is himself. (But IPOS isn't for some reason, depsite saying they live close enough for them to have intimate knowledge of Wendigoon's home town.)
Edit 12: Now Wendigoon is lying about his grandfather telling him local stories cause he wasn't raised on the reservation. Thus he can't have been told these stories as they aren't shared outside the reservation. Also he claims the nearest reservation doesn't have the Wendigo myth in them and therefore Wendigoon is lying cause his grandfather can't possible have moved; because Wendigoon never said he moved.
Edit 13: Now IPOS is going on a rant about how Wendigoon is lying about developing an interest in Cryptids in horror by being told such stories as a kid. IPOs says this must be a lie because he never had that experience, he is now saying Wendigoon is a bad person cause IPOS grew up in a poor town.
Edit 14: The above edit also means Wendigoon is racist now. Also we're a cult cause he's nicknamed "Dad." Then there's an anonymous conversation from 2 native Americans about Wendigoon; but no reference is given as to where this conversation came from or whose saying what. It's literally just IPOS talking to themselves.
Edit 15: He literally has a tweet pulled of Wendigoon saying he is not right wing or bigoted, and is claiming that is evidence that he is a racist cause why else would he say that. (Also he's racist for following less than 500 people on Twitter.)
Edit 16: So he just went on a long tangent saying he tweeted to Wendigoon once a while back complainging to him about all the above, and got people critiquing him on twitter for the next week as a result. He then proclaims the people critiquing him are also racist and homophobic for doing so, and that Wendigoon must also be so because he never acknowledged it.
Also Wendigoon followed IPOS on twitter after all this; and as a result must be racist and trying to intimidate IPOS. Apparently this entire video was made because of this one follow.
Edit 17: In order to demonstrate Wendigoon is a transphobe IPOS points to Wendigoon commenting support to a trans youtuber called Nyx Fears. This proves Wendi is a transphobe cause it means he's "watching her" and he did it to "undermine her channel." The screenshot he shows literally has the youtuber in question comment back happy for the boost. What world is this? Since when was supporting trans creators transphobic????
Edit 18: Now he's homophobic cause he once said he doesn't care for peoples sexualities. And cause someone put him in a meme once saying he supported gay rights???
He now concludes the video saying nothing of the above should be welcomed in horror as a result.
I have finished the entire video and genuinely all of it was unhinged and made 0 sense. Like most of it was just crazy logic or statements thrown at such speed to make schizo posters blush. It was actually wild, how did anyone see this and somehow think it looks good?
Edit 19: Okay In just going to finish on a note to say that genuinely I don't think there's any point to engage with the video or IPOS in general. Or8ginally I was going ti share the link I found for those that wanted it but won't now, (though it's still easy enough to find.)
After thinking a bit I genuinely believe that IPOS must be having some sort of breakdown. It's the only way any of this video makes any amount of sense to me. Like the way he's talking and discussing points genuinely come across as unhinged at points, I can only presume that somehow during a breakdown he wrote, recorded, and then shared this without realising how nuts it sounded.
Just don't bother, this thread here I think gives enough context as to what's in the video and I think should hopefully serve as enough testament that something is going on mental health wise here.

2024.05.29 02:28 SafelySelectedPrism Hammer Sprint Attack Launch
Has anybody else been constantly launched around while using the hammer? It only seems to happen to me while using the sprint attack with a shell-hammer equipped. As soon as I got the skill tree I unlocked the sprint attack because I felt it would open up combat a lot (and it did). Then when I tried the hammer out of curiosity, I found that hit-and-run play, sneaking in high damage hits then retreating to safety, was extremely effective against mobs, so I've been using the sprint attack with a hammer equipped as my bread-and-butter while exploring.
But as I've been using it a lot I've been noticing a very common bug occurring where I'm getting launched around the place while performing the attack, often in the same locations, usually around slopes (anecdotally seems to occur a lot in places where a slope changes from one angle to another quickly, eg. the seams of a sand bank in an open, hilly field). Sometimes it's small, most commonly Kril gets nudged backwards a foot or two (relative) and I just miss my attack, which I usually find funny, or a little nudge upwards causing me to go airborne for a second
A few times it's been more impressive, launching me well above the ground, which I often capitalise on to get a good ground slam in for free. Very rarely, however, it can be even more significant. In the kelp forest, up a ramp just before the gas bottle Moon Shell, are two archers on a platform well out of reach. I suspect you need the capstone fish-hook ability that lets you pull yourself to enemies to get up there.
I wouldn't know, as while fighting one enemy perched on some rocks at the elbow of the path, I was launched well over double that height, and with quick thinking positioned myself to land on one of the platforms just barely. Seeing no other way onto the path that follows from these platforms in my exploration of the level, I followed it to the fishing-rod shortcut in the little stilt village near the start of the area, activated the shortcut, and decided this was probably somewhere I wasn't meant to be yet (thinking this shortcut was for a later part of the kelp forrest), and went back to progressing the gas bottle. I have since returned and discovered what is beyond that shortcut, which I will not spoil.
The biggest launch I've experienced was in the starting area just yesterday, as I explored with new abilities to see if there was anything I'd missed. I was fighting a dog-sardine in the open area under the pipes, where the fallen-down traffic cone is. As always, tried to running attack, and was launched so forcefully that I exited the water. Yes, I splashed out of the ocean entirely, and continued that distance again, in the span of less than a second having been launched far into the air above the water. When I came back down it was even with a splashing sound as I passed back into the brine. I couldn't see anything below due to distance fog, else I might have tried to get back on the pipes post-boss, but the whole experience was wild.
So yeah, has anyone else had this happen? I'm playing on the Xbox Game Pass version of the game, on console

- Experienced pussy eater looking for NSA FWB - with a twist
Hi all! Thanks for checking out this post.
Hope we can all be mature adults here. If you want sex, just say it, that's what we're here for, right?
That being said, I'm looking for NSA FWB - with a bit of a twist that most people on here probably aren't looking for (twist at bottom of post).
Little about me (and the usual): I'm 48,Puerto Rican , 5'10 stocky build. I'm pretty experienced, have a high sex drive, and I love eating pussy. I'd love to make out with you first, play and suck on your nipples, spread your legs apart, put my head between your thighs, and orally please you. I can eat your pussy for a long time - make you cum over and over while you moan and squirm - and then lick it all up. Sometimes, I think being able to hang on while I'm eating you out would be the hard part 😂
It'd be awesome if you could show me how to make you squirt! It always blows women's minds when I'm able to do it, and watching you get turned on turns me on too. Reciprocation is not necessary, as I'm more than happy to eat you out, but it'd be awesome if you'd be down to :) I'm open to trying out anything you want to try - learning new kinks is so much fun! I can host!
Now for the twist: From previous experiences, I've found that getting to know a person outside of the bedroom makes sex so much more intense and intimate. I'd love to get to know you first over dinneboba/coffee. It's always fun learning about a person and their interesting stories - I've got a few wild ones to share. My interests include photography, cooking, walking/driving around, boba (lol), trying new restaurants, anything really!
Please say the word "DRIIP" in the first message so I know you read the post :)
Feel free to hmu in DM's if you're interested or have any questions! Look forward to chatting with you. !Unlock

2024.05.29 00:59 Hikajii [Windows/PC][2000s] A game about a mech/pilot in an anime style
Platform(s): PC/Windows Genre: Mecha/RPG
Estimated year of release: 2000s-2010 Graphics/art style: Anime style
Notable characters: The main image for the game's listing had a guy and in the background a type of mech that was lightly obscured
Notable gameplay mechanics: I have no recollection of the actual gameplay mechanics other than having the option to buy a sort of minigun attachment/weapon for the mech when you first start the game.
Other details: From what I can remember when I was around five or so, this was a demo that I pulled from WildTangent (at the time most of the games I played were their demos). If I can try to compare the art style it had the same vibe as Cute Knight (another RPG sim at the time from WildTangent) which leads me to think it was from WildTangent.
I know it wasn't MechQuest since the graphics and art style was different. The mech that I remember from this game was very blocky in design and short (similar to grunt designs in modern mecha games/anime) and its default color was black if I remember correctly.
I'd appreciate any help since I've never been able to find any info on this game ever since then!

2024.05.28 23:03 DTMBBrown Emerald Nuzlocking Tips
I just recently finished a perfect deathless nuzlocke run of Vanilla Emerald (in my runs, a "perfect run" is battling every single trainer and getting all of the possible encounters), and I wanted to provide some tips for those wondering what to do for fights or encounter routing for dupes clause. Before I begin, here is my ruleset:
-Standard deathless hardcore nuzlocke rules (1st encounter only, gym leader level caps, set mode, no items except for held items, 1 death = reset). -Shiny Clause: I can freely catch a shiny, but I have to use it on the E4 team (for the Champion Picture). -Rare Candies are hacked in to avoid grinding and time poorly wasted. -Battling wild encounters for the sake of grinding EVs is banned (This makes the game MUCH harder as you can only grind EVs off of the limited number of trainer battles). -Rematching trainers is banned (Limited EV investments and limited money). -Level Edging is banned. Once the Pokemon has reached the level cap, they are boxed until the gym fight. -Legendaries are permitted if they are under level cap. In other words, Rayquaza is unusable, but the Regi Trio is fair game. -Wallace is the end game. Roxanne Split: I prefer getting the following encounters, in ideally the following order:
-Mudkip on Route 101. He is undisputedly the best starter. Reset for a better nature/IVs than mine. I had Bold with bad IVs.
-Poochyena (Explicitly for Dupes Clause and Tate & Liza)
-Zigzagoon (HM Mule + Pickup. Reset if Zig is not the encounter on routes 102 or 103.)
-Wurmple (Reset game to roll Dustox)
-Taillow (Repel manip @ Level 8 on Route 116 for a 91% chance at rolling Taillow, after nabbing Poochyena. Reset if the game rolls Skitty. I also don't play with Shedinja, so no Nincada, not to mention Nincada is heavily inconsistent to encounter.)
-Whismur (Rusturf, useful for almost all of the repel manip strats)
-Shroomish (come back after getting Wurmple and Taillow for a 75% chance at getting Shroomish. Reset if Slakoth is rolled.)
Yes, I reset for ideal early game encounters. This set of encounters makes the game so much smoother. There is lots of coverage in this team and there are almost no chances for deaths if you play around crits and Bide Seedots. Use documentation in case you do not know what you are facing next.
- All of these particular encounters are about a 1 in 6 to get if done correctly.
- Taillow is great once it gets Wing Attack at Level 13.
- Zig should be Level 11 or higher for a small chance at picking up King's Rock.
- Whismur and Poochyena should not be past levels 13 and 14 respectively (for the next repel manip).
- I reset if Wingull appears, as you can catch one on the water routes after you obtain Surf.
Roxanne Fight: Use Mudkip for Roxanne's Geodudes and Shroomish for the Nosepass. Leech Seed until you win.
Brawly Split: Magikarp, Tentacool, and Repel manip @ Level 10 for a guaranteed Makuhita.
- Aron is not reliable besides boom fodder from Exploding Koffing
- Sableye is unnecessary if you have Dustox/Beautifly to fight Brawly with (plus you get one in Cave of Origin after catching Zubat in Seafloor Cavern).
Brawly Fight: Solo with Dustox/Beautifly or poisoned Taillow. Unpoisoned Taillow gets killed by Makuhita nearly every time.
Wattson Split: Roll your Route 117 encounter before rolling your Route 110 encounter. Remember your repel manip Poochyena and Whismur? Use these now. You want Level 14 Oddish on Route 117 and any of the other Level 13 encounters (repel manip to avoid Wingulls) on Route 110. Any encounter will do fine. If you roll Electrike here, you will need to roll the tedious 1% Kecleon on Route 118 (I typically go for Sharpedo on Route 122 for anyone trying to point out Carvanha).
Wattson Fight: This is a tough one. I make sure that Marshtomp, Breloom, Hariyama, and Gloom (if I rolled an Oddish) is all on my team. I hate that the AI is really stupid, so I typically do not bring Gyarados for that reason, unless I am intentionally switching between Gyarados and Marshtomp (Gyarados is great for pivoting in Rom Hacks where the AI is smarter). Equip a bunch of Cheri Berries onto everything, and maybe a Persim Berry on Marshtomp if you received one from the flower shop on Route 104.
Flannery Split: There are a lot of potential encounters here. Here are some highlights:
- Bring a Level 16 Pokemon with you for two different repel manips (Fiery Path and Route 113) and then once more at level 18 on Route 114 for Lombre. Repel manipping at Level 16 in Fiery Path eliminates the Slugma and Grimer encounters which are both pretty bad. If you want to increase your chances at Skarmory on Route 113 (explained in detail a few lines down), you can try your luck for Slugma here. Lombre sucks but Ludicolo will carry in the E4 when you give it Fake Out, Giga Drain, Surf, and Ice Beam.
- Repel past the Rock Smash rocks on Route 111 to avoid Geodude. If you do NOT roll Torkoal in Fiery path, get the Geodude so that you can guarantee Torkoal in Magma Hideout after Winona. Graveler is decent for Maxie, Flannery, Norman, and Winona. Garbage afterward. Geodude and Graveler are also harder to obtain in Magma Hideout because they will then have acquired Self-Destruct (Acquired at Level 21).
- I actually go for Skarmory here now. Waiting to roll Electrode in Aqua Hideout, then 50% chance for Magnet Pull Magnemite in New Mauville, then 55% chance for Skarmory on Route 113 is so tedious, and Skarmory does not have much use after Aqua Hideout anyways. It comes out to about a 26% chance to get Skarmory by doing all of this dancing around. But by repel manipping at Level 16, Level 14 and 15 Spindas and Slugmas do not appear, making Skarmory's chance of appearing significantly better because he is ONLY found at Level 16. It is approximately a 14% chance from the original 5% chance for Skarmory to appear. If you roll Slugma in Fiery Path, those odds are increased to approximately 19% Perma-box the encounter if you do not roll Skarmory.
- Save Meteor Falls for the 50/50 Bagon.
Nothing else major to note. Numel is nice to have for Winona (Evolves into Camerupt right at level cap). Spoink is guaranteed if you roll Numel and Machop. I've heard of useful strats out of Grumpig, but have never utilized those strats myself.
Maxie fight: Gyarados and Hariyama do well here. Graveler is notable. Marshtomp is ok. Bubblebeam Azumarill is great, especially if you have Thick Fat.
Flannery Fight: Oh boy, our first real run-killer if playing deathless like me. Everything can be washed away with Bubblebeam Azumarill or Tentacool except for Torkoal. Don't let her set up Sunny Day and don't get crit. Sometimes stealing her White Herb can help but it can also waste a turn for Sunny Day set up. Double Team is useful, but set it up on Slugma (Tentacool is ideal, just watch out for Body Slam crits from Torkoal, as those WILL kill without EV investment). Thick Fat Azumarill is actually ideal for this fight. Graveler Magnitude 10 will one-shot Torkoal. Dragon Rage Gyarados is great even though Intimidate does not work because of White Smoke. Try to avoid using Marshtomp, aa he does not do enough damage. Wobbuffet can be useful, but it is a guessing game on what move Torkoal will use.
Norman Split: - 50/50 for Trapinch. Good luck. If Sandshrew is rolled, give it the Dig TM for Norman and caves. He is otherwise the best candidate for Dig. If you do roll Trapinch, wait to evolve into Vibrava until Level 41 so that it gets Dig.
- Also, the fossil is open for fair game. I typically pick up Lileep for fishing, since the Suction Cups ability increases the chance of encounters appearing vis the rods. But Protect Battle Armor Anorith is a nice option for Norman.
- Watch out for the trainer with a Slakoth in the gym, as it knows Counter and will one-shot your Breloom or Hariyama if you are not careful.
Norman Fight: Here's my strategy. Persim Berry Hariyama will kill the first three mons on Norman's team. Do NOT use Fake Out on Spinda, as it knows Encore. Just click Vital Throw three times. Make sure Vigoroth does not crit, otherwise you might need a backup mon, like Breloom.
When Slaking comes out, send in your Torkoal, Anorith, or Dustox (or Pelipper if you don't reset for early game encounters like me and you do catch Wingull early). Equip a Leppa Berry on your Protect mon and slowly whittle away the brute. Sandslash is also okay if you know whether you are faster or slower, as Dig can be handy if you have good defensive investments. Remember that if Slaking is intended to attack on the turns Norman heals, Slaking will NOT attack next turn. If he heals on loaf turns, Slaking WILL attack the following turn.
Winona Split: Here's a list of the encounters you should roll, in the following order:
-
Wingull on Route 109
-
Electrike/Manectric/Kecleon on Route 118 (Repel manip @ Level 26 if you are going for Electrike/Manectric.)
-
Wailmer w/ Good Rod on Route 108 (you can also get this on the eastern water routes, I tend to forget about him if I catch him later though).
-
Feebas on Route 119. Yes, get the Feebas. This is the ONLY reason I choose the Root Fossil (Lileep) in my runs, is that Suction Cups increases the likelihood of rod mons to appear, including Feebas. Fish 2-3 times per tile and move on. You only get the lower section to work with (since the upper section is unlocked after obtaining Castform, which would be your encounter for the route). I've gotten Feebas as early as the 2nd and 4th tiles on two separate save files. Use Kelpsy Berries to evolve into Milotic. Surf, Ice Beam, Toxic, Recover. Boom, you have a lethal weapon on your team.
-Wait for the Route 115 encounter until after rolling the repel manipped Level 39 Altaria at Sky Pillar.
-Anything except Kecleon on Route 120. Absol can ruin your day with Swords Dance/Quick Attack/Razor Wind.
-Notice how Route 105 was not mentioned. This is just in case you roll the 5% Underwater Relicanth so that you can bring Regice to the E4.
Notes: Trainers begin to get tougher now, with halfway decent strats and cores to ruin your day. Read the docs to know what you're facing. Make good use of the Exp Share, Amulet Coin, and Macho Brace in all of your battles. If you are Exp grinding, make use of the day care, just make sure your useless moves are in the top slots so that you don't lose a good move you can't get back. Remember also that the day care does not EV train your Pokemon.
Winona Fight: Use Bolt Beam Gyarados and sweep. That's it. Alternatively, Camerupt and Manectric are good choices.
Tate & Liza Split: -
Shuppet on Route 121
-
Duskull on the upper levels of Mt. Pyre
-Safari Zone Encounter (Psyduck, Girafarig, Pikachu, Doduo, Rhyhorn, Natu, etc.): Go for the easy-to-catch encounters if you are playing hard Safari Zone rules (1st encounter only, no 2nd attempts for run-away mons). I like rolling Psyduck because they are guaranteed and are easy to catch.
-
Kecleon on Route 123 if he is not already caught
-Magma Hideout encounter (Torkoal or Geodude/Graveler)
-
Electrode in Aqua Hideout (Use the Master Ball sitting next to the Electrode, as you will not need the Master Ball more anywhere else more than on an Exploding Electrode. Your only other option is Damp Psyduck from the Safari Zone, whose ability is a 50/50 roll. and nearly dies to Spark Crit anyways.)
-
Magnemite in New Mauville (Magnet Pull is preferred if you still have not rolled Route 113.
-
Skarmory on Route 113 if you don't take my advice and roll for him in the late game. Just make sure Magnet Pull Magnemite is your first member in the party.
Get the Super Rod and use it for the following encounters (just be careful of over-leveled trainers) in no particular order:
-
Staryu in Lilycove City (Can be used in E4)
-
Luvdisc in Evergrande (Useless)
-
Corsola on Route 128 (Mostly useless, this can be swapped with Luvdisc)
-
Horsea on Routes 132, 133, or 134 (Useless without trades, with the exception of being a useful HM Water Mule)
-
Corphish in Petalburg City (Useful for Tate & Liza)
-
Sharpedo on Route 122 (Useful for Tate & Liza)
Once again, watch out for tricky strategies.
- Don't hesitate to battle trainers in single battles rather than double battles (Looking at you Rain Thunder Manectric & Weather Ball Castform combo on Route 120).
- There are a few Wobbuffets at this point who will ruin your day. One sitting at the top floor of Mt. Pyre and one in the purple room of the Mossdeep Gym. Use your Milotic or Dustox with Toxic, Will-o-Wisp mons, or Leech Seed Breloom to handle the Wobbuffets.
- Slaking double battle on Route 121 can be deadly.
- Magnet Pull Magneton can ruin your day on Route 123.
- Bring Gyarados or Pelipper to Maxie 2 as well as Hariyama and Manectric. They are also both useful in warding off wild encounters with their respective abilities (both Intimidate and Keen Eye reduce the likelihood of wild encounters appearing).
- Aqua Hideout is a cakewalk compared to Magma Hideout.
Tate & Liza Fight: Get ready to kill them quickly or be killed. My strat is as follows: Poisoned Swellow uses Facade on Xatu to OHKO it. Wailord uses Protect on the incoming EQ from Claydol or Water Spout if it is faster. Swellow either Facades again on Claydol, Protects, or switches out to a Water or Dark Type. Wailord blasts Claydol again or switches to something else. Some notable switches:
- Cloud Nine Golduck does well for the Sunny Day Solrock
- Mightyena gets Taunt right at Level 42
- Gyarados is immune to EQ and gets Surf
- Sharpedo and Crawdaunt do well with Surf/Protect if their Natures and IVs are not terrible
Make sure to have 2 dark types at minimum for this fight and leave Lunatone to be the last one on the field. Even though it has Calm Mind, the only attacking move it has is Psychic.
Juan Split: -Underwater Encounter. Yes, the location description is "Underwater," not "Route 124." You want Chinchou, regardless of whether it has Volt Absorb or not (VA is a plus). Manectric and Electrode both have a 50/50 chance of having the Static ability, which boosts the chance of electric types appearing when the beholder is first in the party. It does not make Chinchou guaranteed, but much more likely to appear than the less-than-fortunate 30% chance. This is why Pikachu is an option in the Safari Zone since it is guaranteed to have Static. Just make sure you feed the PokeBlock feeder the color that Pikachu likes (never used this method myself but there are articles about it online) to have a good chance to catch it. Relicanth is nice for Regice. Clamperl would be good if you could obtain it early game but you can't. Even with the DeepSeaTooth and Shell Armor it simply cannot do that much.
-Seafloor Cavern: Get the Luxury Ball first in the Abandoned Ship and then catch Zubat here. Bring Vileplume/Bellossom with Sleep Powder and then whittle it down with other moves to have the best chance for capture with the one Luxury Ball you are guven in the entire game.
-Shoal Cave: You do Seafloor Cavern first to guarantee Spheal here. Spheal is better than Snorunt. Trust me.
-Cave of Origin: Sableye (Useless)
-Sky Pillar: Repel manip @ Level 39 on the 2nd to top floor for a guaranteed Altaria. It does not have Perish Song. That is much safer than playing with an Exploding Claydol.
-Route 115: NOW you may get your useless Jigglypuff.
Get the Blue Shards and Water Stones. These are useful for Lombre and Staryu. Everything else is mostly useless except for a Leaf Stone if you are evolving Gloom into Vileplume (do it after level 35 for Moonlight).
Besides Archie (Use Hariyama, Manectric/Electrode/Magneton, Gyarados, etc.), this is a fairly easy split and you can obtain a LOT of money from the trainers underneath Juan's gym with the Amulet Coin. This is useful for all the TMs in the Game Corner.
Juan Fight: Use your electric type on everything except for Whiscash and Kingdra. Whiscash is defeated with a grass type, just kill it before it sets up Amnesias and PP stalls you out of your grass type moves. Alternately use a powerful physical attacker who doesn't die easily. Kingdra can be PP stalled with a recovering water type, and that is usually your best option. Once again Milotic shines here. Starmie is also rather good here, given you made sure to teach it Recover before evolving it. Otherwise, you can use a mon with Shock Wave/Faint Attack/Aerial Ace/Magical Leaf and some sort of recovery, and wish for a crit.
Elite 4 Split: -
Bagon in Meteor Falls. Watch out for Fire Spin trapping Solrock, as I had to reset once here this late in the game because of it.
-
Aron/Lairon in Victory Road. Cradily, Exploud, and Soundproof Electrode are your three options for catching this because all three are immune to Roar. This is why you go for Makuhita in Granite Cave because only Cradily is immune to Whirlwind Hariyama in Victory Road and it dies to Hariyama's Belly Drum + SmellingSalt. Hariyama is also so much more useful during the story than Aron/Lairon will ever be. Alternatively, you can roll for Mawile which is miles worse.
Victory Road trainers are tough. Make sure you battle the last two trainers one at a time because their strategies are top tier (Skill Swap on Slakings + Coverage). No Wobbuffets fortunately but plenty of other stuff to mess you up. Look at docs before battling each and every trainer. Having a Dig mon (Flygon/Sandslash) is nice to escape easily. Take Linoone to HM blast your way through the maze. Unlike what other sources say, you do NOT need Waterfall to get through Victory Road.
E4 Fight: I finished the E4 deathless with a mono water team consisting of Gyarados, Milotic, Starmie, Swampert, Ludicolo, and VA Lanturn. In my run, Starmie was almost never used, despite having some impressive coverage options and Recover. Milotic saved my run against Wallace. Gyarados can pivot into anything. Lanturn was the electric type for my team, though Gyarados also possessed T-bolt for Wallace.
Some other notable options include:
- Hariyama for Sidney (Bring another Persim Berry) and Glacia's Glalies.
- Manectric/Electrode for Glacia and Wallace if you miss out on Lanturn. Magneton is nice but gets shredded due to its poor Speed and Special Defense.
- Other bulky water types for Wallace. Make sure they have Aspear Berries in the last fight, as Wallace loves to freeze your team.
- Ice Beam mon for Drake. Doesn't matter, just make sure it is tanky.
- Something that doesn't die to Phoebe's coverage options. The Banettes are easy to handle but have coverage options like Thunderbolt. The Dusclops will quickly rid you of your PP. The Ace Dusclops has coverage beyond belief (Ice Beam, Earthquake, Rock Slide, Shadow Ball). Sableye is just there to cause trouble and frustration with Double Team.
- Wallace is the real threat that you need to set your team around. Everything else in the E4 can be covered with the tools that you bring. I opt for a mono water team often because it is so good at countering Wallace. You need OHKO answers for Wailord and Gyarados. You need to PP Stall his Milotic if you are not blasting it to the moon (Meaning you need either a Poison/Steel type or Rest to counter Toxic). You need an answer for Hyper Beams that Wallace will be launching at you. Use the Sludge Bomb or Aerial Ace TMs for the Ludicolo or stall it with a grass type. Nonetheless, this is the one battle you are truly prepping for. Everything else comes second.
If you have read this far, congrats and thank you. I enjoy completing nuzlockes in my spare time and wanted to share some information I could not obtain myself on the internet for others to read. If I missed or overlooked something, please let me know all about it.

2024.05.28 19:43 saltydoesreddit OC Critique/Help
Hi there, I'll try to keep this brief. I've been slowly & passively been making a RWBY OC that I have in a personal AU, although I want to emphasize that the story won't revolve around him. It's just RWBY from his perspective and any and all changes don't pertain to him being involved in some capacity.
But I digress.
So far the bare things I got for him is:
- Faunus born in Mistral
- Was captured and enslaved by the SDC for 6 years before escaping with dozens of other Faunus that rebelled
- Spent years in the wild/underbelly of Mistral due to not knowing where he lived prior to enslavement
- Made his weapons from studying the animals of Mistral which slowly gets upgraded as he matures/ends up in places where he'd have better resources.
- Met a young Pyrrha who briefly befriended him
- Unlocked his semblance named "Firebrand" which started out as simple pyrokinesis, but overtime, basically became Fire Kaioken. It allows him to bend/manipulate fire while removing his inhibitions, less getting a multiplier and more like bringing him to the full power of his current potential. In his own words, he'd describe it as "Imagine winding up a punch you want to make hurt. Firebrand removes the wind up and just skips right to the hard punch"
- Was a stowaway to Vale where he would eventually get accepted into Beacon at around age 17-18
- Became an honorary fifth member of JNPR with Ozpin's approval and Pyrrha's suggestion due to the latter remembering him
- Fought Adam during the Battle for Beacon while trying to protect a bunch of humans, was wounded, but rescued and transferred to Atlas due to Ironwood seeing potential in him.
His story is less focusing on his tragedies and more trying to be a story about someone who started at rock bottom (SDC slave) and slowly made his way to the top (Someone directly under Ironwood's wing) and I was wondering if this outline for this character is any good, as well as any potential suggestions on any allusions/Faunus he could be, especially something to justify him being heavily associated with JNPR.
At a few points, I entertained him being a Tiger Faunus and even being the son of Sienna Khan, suggesting that his abduction is what pushed her into becoming the first White Fang leader to suggest violence, especially seeing how she had no real leads on where he could have been. But I'm reluctant to go with that because it would leave that little tidbit about his character unresolved on his end since, you know...Sienna died.
But I'm open to criticism and suggestions on how I can make this guy better. Because I feel like this character has a lot of potential.

2024.05.28 19:09 DarkerDark0 [PC][90's]Childhood game
Platform/s: PC, was using Windows 98 at that time
Genre: Real Time Strategy + First Person
Estimated year of release: 90's to 00's I think
Graphics/art style: might be bias, my memories of it is very cool because of the concept of integrating first person into a rts game. At that time I was so into Red Alert, Starcraft, types of games. So when I played this game, my mind runs wild imaging if all Strategy games have the same concept.
Other details: I played a game once in 90's. Forgot the title and I was 9/10 y.o. when I played. It such a very interesting concept that I regret losing the CD and don't ever remember the damn title.
The gameplay : You have sort of a mother ship/space station. You can spawn units based on sort of energy consumption type of system. I remember tanks, fighters, helis, some sort of recon units. You can unlock more variation of unit through some sort of destroying technological structures. On the RTS part, you can give order on your units just like playing Red Alert type of games. The best part of it, it is when you can choose any unit and directly control the unit. Each unit types got different gameplay. I remember flying the recon units (some sort of satellite) which has the highest altitude but no weapons. Fighters has more speeds than helis.
In term of perspective, it is first person view. Has some sort of map that you can use to order your units around.
I believe the game has some sort of campaign mode that I gave up halfway through because either I don't understand the mission or it's too hard at that time. Then I lost the CD
I really want to relive that moment. I don't know if there's already a similar game in today's game.

2024.05.28 19:04 StudyGlittering5746 ***CASTING LA GUYS FOR NEW HOME RENOVATIONS SHOW***
2024.05.28 18:57 Crushing_Blow Tales of Grimm-Bies update
| (So this is kind of an agenda post, but I'm mainly posting this just to have this stuff typed out.) If there’s one creature that all beings fear, it’s demons! Now, who among these creatures of darkness is the mightiest? Well, there can only be one option, the Devil! Though, this next fighter is not the red demon with a pitchfork you’re all thinking of. The first recorded demon in history, all other demons named their own species by their language’s version of his name! The ancient scourge of the Slavic people, his mere presence drives those around him insane! His magic is the strongest among all of demon kind! His might is absolute! Yet despite this, he did not wipe out those pesky humans who opposed him. Why? Cause there would be no fun in it! This demon, above all else, seeks enjoyment! With his might, nothing else could possibly concern him! He enjoys a good drink, but above all else he enjoys a good fight! So why then is this savage beast fighting on behalf of Avalon? Simple, for one he is not fighting as himself. Now he fights as the King of Demons! Of course, he was uninterested in the role, but his brother being sealed away forced the strongest demon to finally face his destiny! So he took on a new role, for if that kingdom that stood in the way of all things magic was to fall sheer power would not be enough. So shechemed and he tempted, damning many of that land's top figures to hell! He drove their people insane, turning them into monsters to distract their heroes while Avalon gathered their forces! He's the one who is the true mastermind behind Onigashima! Now here he stands, ready to finally end thousands of years of work! For he is: The Strongest Demon! The Lord of Madness! THE DEVIL HIMSELF! BIES! https://preview.redd.it/f342qemyw63d1.jpg?width=714&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=621ddc1109eaa12995bb8146f8aae28939896342 Backstory: So you might have noticed that I changed Bies a bit, but there is a reason. Anyways, Bies started out as just a legendary monstrous demon. Every demon wanted their strongest to be King, but Bies was uninterested. He only wanted to fight and drink, so his brother Mephisto took the throne instead. During this time he stumbled upon a group of people who would later be known as the founders of Midgard. He could have killed them on the spot, but he had more fun simply messing with them. However, when Midgard eventually became the bane of all magical creatures, he was blamed for not killing the founders and eventually felt a twinge of guilt. However, his guilt would become tenfold when his brother was sealed away by Jack. He felt as if his people would have been far better off if he had become King way back when so he took the position. He took a more humanoid form like Mephisto did and in an attempt to fix his mistake, he became the Devil. Despite everything the thing Bies enjoys the most is fighting and he hates having to take an indirect approach but he did what he had too to be a proper demon king. Of course at first he tried to avoid this, but a thousand years ago the balance of power between Avalon and Midgard did not exist. If there was to be a war Avalon would be slaughtered. To prevent this, he created Onigashima to prevent Midgard from being able to got to war, and Onigasima would produce the infamous Oni that caused Midgard nothing but grief until Monotaro finally destroyed them all. After creating Onigashima Bies would act as the Devil. He would offer people from Midgard power in exchange for their souls. He gave evil powers so they could cause havoc, be stuck down by some hero and sent to Hell just to be forced to serve him. Now he finally has the chance to fix his mistake. Despite that though, he hates everything about this. He misses his life where he could just fight and drink without a care in the world. Opponent: You would think that with the changed backstory I would have come to like a different match up for him, right? WRONG! VS Cinderella. Lord of Madness vs Magical Girl Now, at first glance this one makes little sense. But that’s only if you don’t have much knowledge of the magical girl genre. A staple of the genre is that the Big Bad has some way to magically force people to temporarily be their minion, so they can serve as the Monster of the Week. Of course, they also have minions who serve of their own free will, and despite sending proxies the entire series to fight their foe they are always leagues above everyone they send. With his ability to drive people mad and the legions of Demons who would be loyal to him, Bies easily fits the bill as the main villain of a magical girl series. There is another thing though. Magical Gurl Villians tend to have some tragic backstory and many are portrayed somewhat sympathetically even if the commit some heinous atrocities. So with his new backstory, Bies is essentially a Shouen villain forced to play the role as the main antagonist of a Magical Girl Story. Even ignoring all the genre stuff, as Bies is the one responsible for monsters attacking Midgard this fight still makes perfect sense. Add on Bies taking all the magic girl BS Cinderella does 100% seriously (like, so serious it just sounds like he’s her biggest fan) since due to boredom watching her fight has been one of the more enjoyable parts of his current life., and you have an actual masterpiece of a fight! Well, that and Magic Girl series are well known for having insanely OP protags by the end of the series and Bies is logically one of if not the strongest magic user to ever live, so he could definitely keep up with the escalation! (All quotes will be giving Cinderella the most ridiculous-sounding magic girl attacks. Please understand that it’s peak.) Quotes: “I’m so glad we’ve finally met, my Archnemeis. Oh, we’ve never fought before, but you sure did make short work of every monster I sent your way! For your sake, I do hope you live up to the hype.” “Finally! You finally used the Burning Love Flame Saber! Honestly after you pulled it out on fight number 131 I kind of felt like it was an asspull, especially since you never used it again. But it’s still so damn cool!” “Darkness Heart Ice Storm?! Damn, now you unlocking that one was so emotional! You finally accepted the negative emotions you held, and realized that there was nothing wrong with them. You’ve really grown so much, I was so proud when I first saw it!” “Heat of Love, Full Flame Regalia. Your ultimate trump card, a blazing transformation first used when you were about to lose to Grand Dark Minister Daimon, which was your 200th fight by the way. It seemed all hope was lost, but yet you stood up. For being the guiding light in a sea of darkness, that’s what it truly means to be a magical girl! Well, if you’re going all out then I must respond in kind!” The entire joke behind this match up is Satan himself being a weeb, it's peak. I don't know what else you could want honestly. This is literally perfect. Of course, now there is even more perfection to this match-up, as under all the hilarity of the Devil being a weeb there are some more serious connections to this fight. Both Bies and Cinderella are tied to their role by Fate (As the strongest Demon Bies was always fated to be King despite not wanting to and Cinderella was always going to be the girl blessed by the Godmother.). While Cinderella enjoys being a hero Bies would rather not be the Devil. I also think that fight would serve to break Cinderella out of her naive mindset. I think Cinderella would see the world in black and white, and would start the fight seeing Bies as nothing more than a beast. As the fight goes on she would learn why he does the things he does (by seeing the turmoil in his heart of course. We should get Bies' backstory by Cinderella having some Magical Girl BS that just beams the backstory into her brain.). She would also be forced to learn that while a lot of the people she saved were innocents, a good portion of the people she saved were pure scum who the world would be better off without. By the end of the fight she would have a more nuanced view on the world. Bies' arc in the fight would be learning to enjoy himself again by fighting Cinderella. He would also see that despite everything he still ahs the full support of every demon, and this prompts him to revert back to his original monster form to finish the fight. https://preview.redd.it/nhrbfw4m473d1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=04688a0dba29d995433835a230cc8297aa18e0a1 The fight is sheer perfection, the best for both really. Powers-So the magic Bies uses is very different depending on which form he is in. As the Devil(humanoid form): - Fire Magic: While fighting as the Devil, his best magic type is fire. Fireballs, pillars of fire, stuff like that. Extremely powerful and can cover a large ran
- Elemental Magic: Of course as the strongest of all the demons, he can still use every other elemental magic to devasting effect. One of his favorite strategies is to cover the floor in water before striking with lightning.
- Mephistopheles: An axe made of light named after his brother. A beautiful and ornate weapon, the light imbued within it allows for attacks faster than most beings can even perceive.
- Morning Star: A technique made by covering his axe in fire. He then slams the axe into the ground with his full might, creating a burst of burning light that engulfs the entire arena.
- Dark Magic: Bies' uses of dark magic is not exactly offensive. He can use it to tear through space to teleport and to block attacks by forming a barrier of it around himself.
- While fighting as the Devil Bies stylishly dodges or blocks his foe's attacks and then counters with his devastating might.
As Bies(Monsterous form) - Wild Storm: In his original monstrous form his innate magical abilities are wind and lightning magic. Far superior to the Devil's Flames, these magic attacks can fell any foe in mere moments. Only the strongest of warriors can keep up with his Wild Storm.
- Elemental Magic: Of course, he can still use the other elemental magics.
- Formshifting-While in his true demon form, Bies can shift his size as needed, changing from average height to a towering giant depending on best suits the current situation. He can also take a more humanoid form similar to how he started the fight, except this time with his true might and having more similarities in appearance to his true form. (I think he would do this at the very end of the fight, finally realizing he can be both his true self and a fitting Demon King.)
- Chaos Magic: The primordial version of darkness magic. Befitting his preferred fighting style, Chaos Magic can only be used for offense. Wild bursts of magic that even Bies has trouble controlling, his Chaos Magic is the unrivaled number one in raw power.
- Hell's Madness-Forms a massive beam of wind charged by lightning then enhances the whole thing with all of his Chaos Magic. The result is a massive black beam that will strike the entire arena at once. The only options are to either overpower it or die to it.
So please, upvote Bies! He's the definition of peak! submitted by Crushing_Blow to ShuumatsuNoValkyrie [link] [comments] |

Bought the new Aaron Judge over the weekend but I don’t plan on using him in season 2 until I unlock my second wild card spot. Is it best to sell him now and buy him later in season 2, or do card prices remain the same due to players being in packs that are no longer available ?

2024.05.28 17:00 Chubby-Chicken1 A game idea where you observe animals, learn from them and own a dojo/shop
As an avid reader of martial arts and cultivation novels, I have the question: what if there is a game where you create martial arts, own a dojo and sell these to customers?
Game Concept: Martial Arts Mastery Shop
Premise: You are a martial arts master with a unique talent for observing and learning from nature. You run a dojo/shop where you create custom martial arts techniques inspired by the movements of animals and mythical creatures. Your goal is to become renowned for your mastery, attract students, and grow your business.
Core Gameplay Loop
Exploration and Learning: Adventure: Venture into various biomes (forests, mountains, rivers, mystical lands) to observe and learn from animals and mythical creatures.
Observation: Use a system similar to a "skill tree" where you unlock new moves by observing specific animals (e.g., Monkey Fist, Tiger Claw).
Challenges: Complete challenges to learn new techniques. This could include stealth segments (sneaking up on animals), combat trials, or puzzles.
Technique Creation: Customization: Combine different moves to create unique martial arts techniques. Where you have a 'base' move, say 'basic punch' it have a square grid (2x2) and it benefits from 'offensive' attribute that you can customise. Say you successfully obtained tiger claw, its going to be an L shaped attribute, and rabbit leap is a single grid attribute, for visualisation:
Punch: [T][R] [T][T] Using these inspiration you can create a basic punch with: 'tiger claw : (+10 damage, + 10% penetration rate) +20% compatibility (Str attribute) 'rabbit leap': (+2 agility + 5% dodge rate) -20% incompatible (agility attribute)
-)You can get new and better 'base' move that have more grids and maybe bonus attributes by buying, disciple quest, events, winning turnaments, etc
-)There are a total of 4 attribute, 'Str', 'Endurance', 'Agility', 'Neutral (which could be used in all moves without compatibility issues)"
Naming and Lore: Name your techniques and write a brief lore or description to give them personality and context.
Dojo Management:
Training: Train students in your dojo using the techniques you've created.
Quests: Students may go on quests and report back with items, money, or new inspiration for techniques.
Tournaments: Host or participate in martial arts tournaments to gain fame and attract more students, get prizes, etc.
Shop Management:
Sales: Sell scrolls of your techniques, training manuals. Customers can be wandering martial artists, nobles, or even royalty.(*you gain patent on your moves so other don't just yoink them). some may commission martial arts Reputation: Gain reputation by selling effective and innovative techniques. High reputation increases fame level and attracts more and wealthier customers.
Customization: Customize your dojo/shop with decorations and equipment that improve training efficiency / attract more customers.
Fame: With increased fame, more customers visit your shop, buying scrolls and training sessions, allowing you to expand your dojo and explore new areas.
Key Features Dynamic Environments:
Seasons and Weather: Different animals appear in different seasons and weather conditions, adding variety to exploration.
Mythical Creatures: Rare creatures offer powerful and unique moves but are harder to find and observe. Skill Development:
Instructor Skills: Develop your skills as an instructor, improving how effectively you can teach students and manage your dojo.
Narrative Elements: Rival Schools: Compete against rival dojos, each with its own unique style and story.
Mysteries and Legends: Discover ancient martial arts secrets and mythical artifacts that enhance your abilities. Interactive Combat:
Real-time Combat: Engage in combat using your custom techniques, either in training scenarios or against rivals and wild animals.
Tactical Choices: Make tactical decisions in combat based on your opponent's strengths and weaknesses.
Visual and Audio Design
Art Style: A vibrant and stylized aesthetic, drawing inspiration from traditional Asian art and nature. Sound Design: Authentic sounds of nature, combined with traditional music and sound effects that enhance the martial arts atmosphere.
Further ideas 1:
Diverse Learning Methods
*Observation:*
- *Basic Method:* Observe animals in their natural habitat to gain experience points (XP) towards learning their moves.
- *Proficiency Boost:* Prolonged observation of specific animals increases proficiency in similar types (e.g., successfully observing rabbits gain exp in the observation of agility-based creatures, say the first level is 0/3, after leveling up subsequent observation of agility based creature will start with 1 observation exp).
- More than one 'inspiration' from certain creatures, for example you may learn tiger claw(str move) 0/5 but you can also learn tiger's patience (Neutral move)0/3
*Interaction:* other than 'observation' which gain 1 exp to the move you are trying to acquire there are different ways to hasten this process:
- *Sparring:* Engage in combat with aggressive animals to understand their fighting techniques better. This is the fastest way to learn moves; during the turn based fight, you will have an inspiration guage in which you gain +1 exp for that move every time the guage is filled. restriction: only applies to 'medium' to 'large' size animals as small animals like rabbits will run from you, and there is a risk of dying and injuries(based on severity, Permanent disability> Severe > Mild > Slight) death equates to going back to the last save location. Success grants more XP and resources (like food or pelts)
- *Hunting:* Attempt to hunt small/ agility based animals (rabbits, deers, etc). Same concept and guage, success grants partial XP and resources (like food or pelts). Failiure equates to wasted time and stamina for 'small' creature, and injuries for mid to large size animals.
- *Dodging and Detecting:* Dodge and detect attacks from stealthy animals to learn defensive and counter-attacking moves, with similar inspiration guage. failiure equates 'poisoning' status or injuries, depend on the type of creature. (*same thing with combat) success grants more XP and resources (like vials of poison or other material)
*Training and Practice:*
- *Student Sparring:* Practice newly learned techniques with your students to refine and master them.
- *Personal Training:* You dont need this as you 'mastered' the move but your disciple could use dummies, training equipment, and personal drills to learn the moves faster. As the creator of the move you have 'perfect' understanding of the move, however your disciple have to start from scratch. progression: 'Beginer'(20% attribute)->'proficient'(50%)->'Perfect(100%)'->Limit break(150% attribute + 1 unique trait) you yourself couldn't achive 'Limit break' state as this state is only achieved by your disciple's own understanding and is unique to them, inspired by the quote “poor is the pupil who does not surpass his master.”
*Mystical Learning:*
- *Ancient Scrolls:* Discover ancient scrolls and artifacts that provide insights into rare and powerful 'base' techniques.
- *Spiritual Meditation:* Engage in meditation or rituals at sacred sites to gain unique abilities from mythical creatures.
Conclusion of Gameplay Mechanics for Learning Moves
*Observation XP System:* - *XP Accumulation:* Each animal has a required XP to unlock a move (e.g., Rabbit Leap requires 4 XP). XP can be gained through multiple methods, not just observation.
- *Proficiency Synergy:* Observing related animals provides partial XP towards similar moves. 2.. *Training Integration:*
- *Student Engagement:* Train students using newly learned techniques. Successful training sessions increase their mastery and understanding of the technique, this could be in the form of a minigame like a rythym game perhaps?
- *Sparring Matches:* Hold sparring matches where you and your students practice techniques, gaining minor XP boosts and refining skills.
*Mystical and Spiritual Elements:*
- *Quest for Scrolls:* Embark on quests to find ancient scrolls in hidden temples or caves. Each scroll grants a unique move or boosts existing ones.
- *Meditation Retreats:* Visit sacred sites for meditation, allowing you to learn from mythical creatures through visions or spiritual encounters.
Visual and Interface Design
- *Learning Progress Bar:* A clear progress bar for each technique showing XP accumulation and methods used. - *Method Indicators:* Icons or symbols indicating how XP was gained (e.g., eye for observation, sword for combat, rabbit for hunting).
- *Training Logs:* Keep logs of training sessions and student progress to track how practice impacts learning.
Further ideas 2: ### Genius Students
- Your dojo have a limited number of disciple, say 5 at lv 1
- All students have traits positive and negative but with rarity, base stats, and 'understanding' level( 'better quality students(genius)' learning things faster, like an %exp increase. 'dissapointment(50%)'bad(80%)-> average(100%)->good(120%)->excelent(150%)->Genius(200%)->Heaven defying(300%)
- Traits could range from: +exp gain for certain moves type(offense(punch, kick) , defense(block, parry), evasion), different rarity may equates to higher exp gain. some traits are negative for example 'sickly' improves the chance of getting sick, 'perverse' could reduce the reputation of your dojo, 'weak body' reduced health, etc, some are unique and is benificial in other ways for example 'lucky', with the highest rarity being 'son of destiny', inexplicable good encounter during quests. Finally there are ungraded, 'unique' traits like 'Madman' gain 50-200% exp during the study, etc
*this could make thing interesting, say we at a lv 1 dojo we could only have 5 disciple, will we kick our 'old' disciple in favour of a 'better' quality students
*Genius Students:*
- *Attraction Mechanism:* As your dojo's reputation grows, you attract more genius students. This can be tied to your achievements in tournaments, the fame of your techniques, and your overall dojo reputation.
further idea 3: romance?
romance who? the rival dojo? i have no idea
HEY! if you have read this far, it shows that you are genuinely interested. Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude for your time, and I am open to any suggestions for improving this concept. If you are passionate about creating this game, PLEASE DO SO(i aint doin this). I am a bit torn on how to implement the combat, should it be similar to punch club? i genuinely have no idea. Nevertheless, that's all, Thank you for reading and adios fellas.

2024.05.28 16:17 TheTrueNeiloken Infinite Gathering Tools - Legendary Armory Idea... yes another one.
I know here's a post like this every few months or so with a lot of instant nay-sayers, but I think we have a new tool to help the argument: The Legendary Relic.
For context, the Relic works in such a way that at the moment it has access to all core release Relics and now all Soto release relics, but in future we will need to unlock new relics on our account in order to gain access to them in the Leggy Relic. So can we not use this same idea for Infinite Gathering Tools.
This would make infinite gathering tools available for every character on your account, with all the skins available that you have unlocked (i did not know you could transmute gathering tool skins until very recently), as well as all the Glyphs you have currently account bound - allowing you to hot swap the glyph you need on a particular farming period.
The skins and glyphs provide some value to players who have already purchased multiple gathering tools, and it adds more value to existing glyphs out in the wild obtained from Black Lion Chests, even the crappy ones nobody uses.
Infinite gathering tools are usually the most expensive gem store items, selling for the same price as premium mount skins - 2700 gems. The main argument to these posts is always "why would anet do this when they can sell you 9 sets of gathering tools". Well why not treat them as mount skins? I have a skyscale, why would I want a plushie skyscale? Because it makes cute sounds when it roars and dopamine go brr.
Create new and interesting animations for people who love Fashun Wars 2 (I think the last one we got was back in August 2023). They can also add the
Black Lion Glyph Selection Container) or a randomized variant of it to the gemstore for people who want to complete their collection of glyphs for certain farms. They could also come up with fun new glyphs to add to the pool, like off the top of my head a glyph that has a random chance to give Essences.
I've looked back at previous posts just like these ones and all the same arguments against it come up. People have already bought 9 Volatile Magic Tools and that sucks, but using that as a standalone argument is like saying why should we have invented a car when I just bought a horse. The current system of having to buy 3 shared inventory slots, filling them with filler tools, swapping them on every character before you log out, and repeating ad nauseum for each of your characters is clunky and outdated.
In a game that's innovated in so many ways in the genre, that's constantly trying to attract new users, surely making a premium feature like this slightly more streamlined for those who forked over for it isn't a bad thing? A problem that as most like to say was designed just to sell the solution to it.
TLDR: - Hot swappable glyphs for the ones you've unlocked just like the Leggy Relic
- 0 cost tool skin swapping on the fly for Fashun Wars 2 just like any Legendary Item
- Options to continue monetizing infinite tools mentioned above
- I'm sorry if you bought 9 of the same tool already but I thank you for your sacrifice.
