NFL Quarterbacks: Does Hand Size Matter? A Comprehensive Analysis
We’re back! Last week we dove into Quarterback Heights and if they effect performance. And just as we said we would, we've crunched the numbers and dove into NFL quarterbacks' hand sizes vs. performance this week. With help from Reddit comments pointing us towards realizing the hand sizes of the two smallest QB success stories (Brees and R.Wilson) falls DEAD CENTER of the hand size sweet spot range that corresponds to the highest success rates, everything we found is quite eye opening.
Further, there’s 1 player who matches a trend we found of 7 other players in the last 21 years. All 7 of those players had atleast 1 top 10 finish. Further, 6 of 7 had atleast 1 top 5 finish. There is one player has not had that top 10 finish. Making it 7/8 for this trend. Telling by the article picture, I’m sure you can tell who that lone player is. The raiders just loaded up on their offensive weapons and he could start at some point this year. Crazy, right? Well take a look at the 7 other players with the top 10 finishes matching our trend in the last 21 years:
Peyton Manning Donovan McNabb Kurt Warner Aaron Rodgers Carson Wentz Josh Allen Kerry Collins
The article dives deeper into what that trend specifically is, using all of the deep research we’ve done.
We plan on doing this series every Saturday. Your feedback will help add to the topics we will prioritize number crunching through! All of our research can be found on our Analytics page. Just comment what theories/myths you want to see verified or debunked and we will! Next week we’re looking at WR heights and trying to find the perfect WR height.

2024.05.24 17:24 RaphaelFernandez2001 Happy 35th Anniversary to Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989-2024)!

Happy 35th Anniversary to Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989-2024)!
Today, I saw Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), and it was arguably the best Movie in the Indiana Jones Franchise! This Movie is made by Paramount Pictures and Lucasfilm and Directed by Steven Spielberg and Written by Jeffery Boam, and it’s a slight improvement over the previous Movie Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)! I like writing, story, action, music, horror, and humor as well as the New Characters, like Indiana Jones’ Father Dr. Henry Jones and their Friends Marcus Brody and Sallah! This is the first Movie to have a PG-13 Rating unlike the first two Movies having a PG Rating, and the PG-13 fits well for an Indiana Jones Movie! I also like the dynamic father and son relationship between Henry and Indy! Walter Donovan is one of the best Villains in the Franchise who is a Nazi and wants the Holy Grail for himself! Elsa Schneider is a really good anti-villain who is Indy’s Love Interest, but also a Nazi working for Walter Donavan! But their romance was okay, but I wish she wasn’t a Nazi just like Water himself. It has a lot of fantastic Scenes, especially the Plane Fight and Indy and Sallah rescuing his Dad and Marcus from getting trapped in the tank! But Ernst Vogel’s death was one of the funniest but satisfying deaths in the Franchise! The Climax and ending are fantastic where Indy, Henry, Sallah, and Marcus arrive in Hatay, Henry gets shot, Indy finds a room full of cups where a Knight is at after he overcame the traps, Walter Donavan drank the wrong Cup and dies from aging quickly, Indy chooses the right cup and heals his Dad with it, and Elsa Schneider dies when she fell to her death after her attempt to leave with the Grail causes the temple to collapse, and Indiana nearly suffers the same but Henry stops him, and later, Indy and his companions escape and ride off into the sunset! Overall, I give it an S+! What a fantastic way to celebrate its 35th Anniversary of its Theatrical Release since 05/24/1989!

2024.05.24 04:35 Teal_is_orange Commenters in a missing child post in /r/Columbus (Ohio) go juvenile over pronouns.

OOP posts a missing child poster for their child, titling the thread with the following:
My son was picked up this morning by a person in a 2013/2014 Chevy Silverado extended cab with temporary tags. If you see this vehicle with two young boys in it, please contact the police immediately
Here is the description for the child that the poster has:
12-year-old, Macy “Aiden” Donovan was reported missing, last seen at home at 8:00 a.m., Thursday, May 23, 2024. She was last seen wearing a big pink sweatshirt, grey sweatpants.
Getting this out of the way first so you won’t feel worried while reading the drama: the child was found safe!
Let’s get started then, with the drama that appears when redditors notice a discrepancy between the wording the OOP used for their child, and the police’s wording:
So there was already a kid in the car, or was another grabbed with your son? I am so sorry, I hope your baby is found
I think their son is trans and Marysville police don’t recognize that fact beyond the supposed “nickname”
Good for the police.
Good for you kissing my ass :)
I’ll lick it darling.
Glad you know your place in life is kissing ass. Makes things easier for everyone else when you admit it.
It’s licking, not kissing. Fruit loop.
Either way you’re under someone else’s ass
the irony of an ass-licker who can’t mind their own business about a kidnapped kid calling someone fruity lmao
Which name is the “correct” one, according to some redditors:
Poor kiddo— get home safe Aiden ❤️
Macy
When a name is in quotes between their given first and last name, that implies the name they go by, which is Aiden.
Who is actually misgendering here? Mom or police? More redditors discuss:
Either the sheriff or the parent is misgendering this child, right?
Most likely the cops. The more masculine name is in quotations like a nickname.
It doesn't help to look for a boy when the kid is a girl.
There’s a picture. Look for that.
Lastly, a reply thread with a mass amount of downvotes (comparatively):
who is in the photo?
Presumably their son.
it's confusing because the description below the photo uses a different name than the headline of the announcement. it also specifically says "she", while OP said "son". edit: oops, the name under the headline is the Sherrif. sorry.
I’m making an assumption that the police are using legal gendepronouns and the parent is using preferred gendepronouns.
Nonbinary kid, I assume from the flyer.
I don't think your focus should really be on their gender. If you see someone who looks like that report it. Don't get into your right wing bs about if it's a male or female or anything like that. A parent is missing their child - that's as far has you need to take it.
something mentioned two children and there's only one photo. i was wondering if there was something we were missing. definitely not a right-wing nutjob, chill out
We're discussing an abduction, not what somebody wants to be called. You should not be offended.
If anything the parent doubling-down on the preferred pronoun thing is a terrible idea in this instance. The child looks like a girl with short hair, and people should be on the lookout for a girl with short hair.
yeah, it’s a terrible idea to…indicate the name and pronouns by which the child is used to being called and, therefore, will be most attuned/most likely to respond. 🤨
if the parent—who is the OP, and who is currently experiencing the unimaginable, let’s bear in mind—were refusing to let the flyer reflect all potentially identifying information the general public may perceive, that would be unwise, but they aren’t doing that.
people should be on the lookout for a child who looks like the child shown in the photo and described on the flyer. all the information is there—your personal assessment of the child’s gender presentation could literally not matter less.
A lot of hate in this thread - so sad. All I was doing was defending a kid and the barrage of downvotes ensue. Generally I've found Columbus to be accepting but the number of downvotes and negative comments is disturbing.
the OOP’s thread is likely to get deleted soon imo, but it’s still worth looking at

2024.05.18 23:48 AcceptableSet3916 "Jealous wedding guest ruins the money shot": An Essay About The Woman In The Photo

First of all, I would like to say THANK YOU to all of you that showed so much love to my first post ever in Reddit!
Since my girl Millie got too much hate for wearing white and ruining the best photo of the wedding, I decided to write her sad story and share it with all of you. It's a LONG tale, full of ups and mostly downs (TLDR at the end of the post). Sooo, grab some cookies and popcorn while I spill the tea ;)
******WARNING******** The story features what I believe to be unsettling content (pregnancy loss) for some. It's hidden as spoiler, so please don't click it if it's a sensitive issue for you. <3
Our story starts with poor young adult who shall not be named (because I don't remember her name). God (me) had big plans and challenges for her, as she started with 0 simoleons in an off the grid island, with hopes of her becoming a millionaire. She moved in the big island without money, a place to sleep, a toilet, nothing. The challenge goes like this: raise money from beachcombing, buy a towel to sleep on, buy a bush to pee in, snorkel, plant and build a life from zero. And, under no circumstances communicate with another sim.
This challenge was too difficult. The loneliness and hardships, the struggle to just survive and find food, led this young girl to her death by drowning in the middle of the ocean. It was too soon, so God decided to try this challenge again, giving the new sim a head start.
That leads us to the protagonist of the story, Millie Carson.
Millie Carson is a young adult who moved in the same island, like a castaway. All she found on that island was a towel, some planted trees, a toilet bush and a grave.
The ghost from the grave came often to haunt and tease her and finally became her enemy.
At first, young Millie tried to stay away from other sims but, since they kept coming and visiting, God decided that it was ok for her to have some friends.
Millie's neighbors were Miki and Ali, a happy couple with two babies. They kept visiting and bringing food to their poor young neighbor, since she was struggling so much. Millie grew close with Ali, who came swimming to her island sometimes.
Meanwhile, Millie learned some skills that earned her some money and food. She became really good at fitness, gardening and fishing. Little by little, she earned enough money to buy diving supplies and took up some diving photography and treasure hunting. All those helped her build a tiny wood home which finally had a toilet and a shower and even a fridge. Life was getting better for Millie, until she started having feelings for her married neighbor...
Millie was attracted to Ali: his long blond hair, his green eyes and dark skin. To her surprise, Ali was interested in her as well. She tried to fight it but it was over her own power to resist. They made sweet woohoo and became a couple, while he was still married with two kids.
Love makes you do stupid things and that's what happened to Millie. She fell in love with a married man and, surprise surprise, she got pregnant with his kid.
While on her 1st trimester, she visited her neighbolover's home to tell him the news. His wife, Miki, opened the door and the sight was unbelievable: She was pregnant as well, on her 3rd trimester. Millie chatted with Miki as nothing was wrong and even socialized with her kids for a bit. But it was now time for Ali to learn the truth. Millie pulled him aside and told him everything.
To her surprise, Ali was content with being a parent to their child. Millie felt his support and fell even harder for him, causing her to do the unthinkable: Woohoo with him all over his tiny house while his wife and two kids were inside! They woohood EVERYWHERE: The small single bed, the kitchen sink, the counters, standing... They almost got caught by Miki, but hopefully she was so pregnant that it took her an eternity to reach the woohoo spot.
Millie started thinking about their future. Tormented by her jealousy, she asked Ali about Miki. Miki's super pregnant belly was an indicator that Ali still loves and woohoos with his wife, two-timing both women. To her dismay, Ali confessed his love about Miki, but he was willing to keep his relationship with Millie. But that wasn't enough for Millie...
Without hesitation, Millie served Ali an ultimatum: It's her or Miki. No love triangles, no hiding. Her kid needed a father and she needed support as a poor young woman. All those pregnancy hormones made her unreasonable - she came between a happy couple and now she felt that her lover's wife stole him from her, even though they were already together! The irony!
Millie couldn't get over her feelings, so she invited Miki over and told her EVERYTHING. That she was pregnant. That the father was poor Miki's husband. Miki got even yelled at for sleeping with her own husband. Millie was out of control.
Like a tsunami, a force that couldn't be stopped, Millie called over Ali and told him to break it off with his wife. It was now or never. Ali did as told and suddenly Miki broke down crying, hating life and those two who ruined it.
Eventually, Miki left and the.. happy couple were finally alone. Millie asked Ali to move in and he gladly accepted. He even proposed and they stayed engaged until after their baby girl, Angelique, was born.
Meanwhile, even though Miki was hating them, she still came over with extra food like a good neighbor. But her relations with the couple never improved much.
The happy couple decided to get married. Millie wore a pretty but simple boho white dress, hair down and golden jewelry. But her joyful smile was the prettiest jewel she could wear. It was a lovely, quiet wedding on the seashore, during sunset.
Soon after, Millie got pregnant again but wasn't ready or happy for it. Unfortunately, there were some complications with the pregnancy and baby Donovan was born dead. They buried him under a lemon tree and cried for many seasons about him.
Ali started helping Millie with gardening, fishing and diving. But his dream was to finally earn his degree in Communications. He still had 3 classes to pass and then he could enter the PR world. He soon earned his degree with a low to medium score and was ready to start working. There was a huge problem, though...
The island was off the grid and he could not apply for the job, not use the very much needed internet. A decision had to be made: Should they live on this island forever, living off the land, or they should move somewhere else and follow Millie's dream to become millionaires?
The choice was easy. The couple moved to Finchwick, in a big cottage house with a big garden, front and back. They brought with them the plants they had gardened with so much love and also bought some chickens. Life was good for a while, baby Angelique was growing but woohoo life was... fine.
Ali found a job in PR and had to work all day, even from home. He had to polish his charisma and writing skills and meet new people. So, that made Millie a stay at home mom, a gardener, a housekeeper. But there was no time for her lifestyle needs: outdoor living and working out. She became frustrated and was always in a bad and uncomfortable mood. She had gained a lot of weight from her pregnancy, she hardly recognized herself in the mirror...All this bad mood made her cranky. Everytime Ali tried to woohoo with her, she had no drive. So, their love life went down the drain...
Meanwhile, Ali was doing great at work, earning at least 2000 simoleons per day. He had met many people, and one of them became a really good friend of his. His name was Gabriel and he was thin, with black short hair, dark skin and modern makeup.
Ali was tormented by his feelings when he hang out with Gabriel. He couldn't understand how a man can be attracted to another guy like that. He was open to the idea, but had never acted upon it. It wasn't the looks - Gabriel was pretty basic. But there was something about the both of them that made him feel... amazing. The attention he got from Gabriel, the friendship.. It was like they knew each other from another lifetime.
Every time Gabriel came over, Ali got excited. He was interested in his words and inner world, not only his appearance. One night, he couldn't take it anymore. While they were talking the backyard table, Ali started flirting with Gabriel. Things got heated fast and they shared the most beautiful first kiss. That was exactly what he always wanted to feel, but was missing from his other relationships. He proposed to have woohoo in the home office, while Millie and Angelique were sleeping unaware upstairs...
They woohood hard and many times. It was a total WoohooFest. Morning came and Ali, having not slept at all, got ready to go to work. He didn't forget to kiss his wife goodbye, but he spent the entire day thinking about Gabriel. By night, he had decided to ask Gabriel to become his boyfriend.
Millie on the other side, was getting better. She bought a walking machine and she often went swimming in the river. Her woohoo drive was coming back strong and that meant more time with her beloved husband. They started woohooing more often, but Ali was also missing Gabriel...
God suddenly had an idea! Ali should ask Millie to have expanded woohoo with someone else, and that someone else couldn't be other than (yes, you guessed it) Gabriel. Ali went on and asked his wife and God told her that yes, it would be fun! So, unaware of God and her husband's plans, she happily accepted to engage in multiple sim woohoo...
Ali was so excited! He couldn't believe his ears! He immediately called over Gabriel and explained the situation. Gabriel accepted as well and it was time for Gabriel to meet with Millie. Millie tried to get to know him but for some reason he was distant. She tried to flirt with him but he didn't reciprocate. Millie got embarrassed and locked herself in her room for some time, to recollect herself. It shouldn't be so hard, right?
At the same time, Ali made his move on Gabriel and they woohood. Gabriel was more than excited to get together with Ali. So, why not Millie?
After Millie got over her embarrassment, she came out the room. Ali proposed having multiple woohoo and they did it. Everyone had a pleasant time.
After that, they got together two more times. But, the last time, at Gabriel's house, was the final blow.
Millie kept trying to flirt alone with Gabriel, not getting the message but, DUDE. He was NOT into her. It was heartbreaking. She tried so hard for her husband, her self esteem and again, she was turned down. A second choice. She didn't deserve it. And then, she though about it. The flirt between Ali and Gabriel. How they would have woohoo, the three of them, but Gabriel was rejecting her. It was time for answers...
Millie first told Ali to end the expanded woohoo agreement. It was too much for her. He wasn't happy about it, but he agreed. And then, she asked the million dollar question: "What's going on between you two?". Ali tried to hide it, told her they were only friends. But God was starting to feel bad about poor Millie, so had her ask again: "WHAT'S GOING ON BETWEEN YOU TWO?"
The answer was like a knife, going through her heart. Ali loved Gabriel and that's all she needed to know. Their woohoo life was non existent before and now had found someone who made him feel better, more... alive! That's all Millie needed to know. She went over to Gabriel and try to make a last, desperate woohoo pass at him. Once more, he rejected her. It was all so clear. She was the third wheel.
Her ego and her heart were stomped on the ground, like a cockroach. A beautiful, kind, hard working sim shouldn't go through all that. She headed back home, to the privacy of her bedroom and cried her eyeballs out. Ali didn't come home that night and went straight to work.
The next day, Millie invited Gabriel over. Oooh no, she wouldn't let him have Ali so easily. She would humiliate him first. He came over and she started yelling at him. Her face was red and hot, she was fueled by rage. She ending up giving him the beating of his life. When Ali came home from work, both his lovers were black and blue from fighting.
Baby Angelique started crying. She had woken up. Millie rushed upstairs to help her toddler with her needs, but Ali and Gabriel stayed downstairs. Ali tried to comfort Gabriel, asking him to stay. He didn't care about his marriage anymore. God led them to the hall upstairs, outside the bedrooms. They started woohooing again, right there, like animals!
Poor Millie, as she opened her daughter's bedroom's door, she caught her cheater husband in the act! THE AUDACITY!!! And if it that wasn't enough, when she went over to slap him, he acted like she wasn't there and went to woohoo in the shower with his boyfriend - AGAIN! WTH!!!
At this point, Millie knew it was time to give Ali the boot and kick him the hell out of their home, and so she did. After Ali's lover left, the married couple had a long, heated conversation that only had one outcome - Ali had to move out immediately.
So, he left and rented a one-bedroom apartment in the city. He also decided to ask Gabriel to live with him, and Gabriel happily accepted. A new chapter started for Ali but unresolved things were left in the middle with his wife that needed to be dealt with.
While all these took place, Millie had gotten close with celebrity Rahul Chopra. They became good friends and she was invited to his wedding. It was a one of a kind event because Rahul had a shotgun wedding with his wife when they were teenagers due to unwanted pregnancy. After many kids later, Rahul's eldest daughter, with the villainous valentine aspiration (long story) decided to break her eternally faithful parents up for fun. So they did break up, but they were so made for each other, like puzzle pieces, that it was impossible to not end up together again.
Rahul fell back in love with his wife and they decided to do it right this time. They planned the perfect wedding event in San Myshuno's park, during sunset. The whole family was there and their 2nd child, Philip (YA) would take the professional pictures of the wedding.
The ceremony started, everyone (almost) was seated and the photographer (and me) were preoccupied with taking the happy couples pictures. As the ceremony ended, the couple was ready to share their first kiss as husband and wife. The air was filled with confetti that floated playfully around them, the fireworks were set off behing them and the sun was showering them with the warmest rays. It was a one time opportunity to get the perfect picture. Philip got ready to press click. And then, she appeared.
Millie, clearly bothered and heartbroken by other people's love, made a run for the exit and ruined Philip's perfect photograph. The angry look on her face would forever haunt Philip's mind. Why would that woman ruin this happy moment and why the hell would she wear white at someone's wedding? I mean, you wouldn't mistake her for the bride, who wore an expensive wedding gown, but still... Something was wrong with this girl and Philip had to find out...
After the wedding, Millie went back home. The days passed and the divorce was not finalized. She asked her kid who she wanted to stay with, but without reply. She called Ali over, but he texted back he didn't want to come over. Millie had her -now child- daughter call over her dad. This time, Ali responded positively and soon after he arrived. Millie took him straight to the lawyers to see who will get custody of Angelique.
This time, God had no plans, God left it all to luck. So, unfortunately, Ali won custody of Angelique, who immediately went to live with him. Now, Millie was alone. Only her and her money and her baby son's grave in the front yard. Now she was angry, NOW HE WOULD PAY.
Millie grabbed Ali and went once again to the lawyers. It was now time to split the estate. At least 100k simoleons in the bank, plus whatever the house is worth. Millie wants to get everything, but once again, God won't interfere. She comes back home, head down, beaten - she lost 80k.
She turns to her new friend, Philip. He is basic, but he's a good guy. He lives alone in an apartment in San Myshuno, studies Fine Arts in university, comes from a good family. He also has a girlfriend that lives across the hall from him, but Millie doesn't know. And God tells her to come onto him. Now Philip has two girlfriends and God must interfere.
God and luck are playing games with Millie's life.
As I'm writing her story, there's only one thing I feel: Sad.
This girl started out with hopes and dreams. So I think that we should forgive her for attending a friend's wedding wearing white. Some God forgot to change her formal outfit and it was all she had to wear. She's going through a lot!
Her story ends for now, but if you guys like it I might write more about her life's adventures.
Also, what should she do with Philip? Let me know in the comments!
If you read this whole essay / story , you are amazing! And thanks! Hope you liked it! :)
TLDR: YA woman starts with 0 money in off the grid island. Wants to earn a million. Gets pregnant by married neighbor with kids. Marries him and they buy new home. They get pregnant second time, lose the baby.He gets a good job, meets new people, gets new guy friend, has woohoo with that friend. The 3 of them have expanded woohoo. Woman breaks it off. Woman confronts husband about loving other man, he confesses he loves him. Woman kicks him out and he lives alone in flat. The other guy moves in with him. Woman heartbroken, goes to friends wedding wearing white, is angry at happy couple's love, ruins the married couple kiss photo. Photo becomes famous on Reddit. Woman loses custody of only child. Woman loses 80k simoleons after splitting estate. Woman becomes girlfriend of the photographer from the friend's wedding. Photographer already has another girlfriend.
*****EDIT*********** I can't believe I forgot to write this, but Millie also drowned in the ocean while being fatigued from diving for treasures. I decided to not save and give her a second chance. Her life is dramatic, UUUUUUGH!!!!

.
The 2024 NFL Draft has come and gone, as we wrap up our extensive coverage of this stage of the league calendar. Before we sort of transition over into the final stages of discussing how teams have built up their rosters, discussing how the new additions fit in across my divisional draft and roster review series starting next week, I wanted to show some love to a few players who didn’t actually hear their names called over the course of the weekend in Detroit.
Just last year, I called out Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent, who ended up starting four games, Vikings linebacker Ivan Pace Jr., who was a borderline Pro Bowl performer, and Buccaneers defensive back Christian Izien, who was their quasi-starter in the slot. So there’s always still talent to be found once the draft is wrapped up and while opportunity has to be taken into account here, in the right situation there are UDFAs that could play significant roles as early as this season, even if it’s not in a starting capacity necessarily.
Here are some names, who I believe are capable of contributing and are in a situation where they could get a chance to do so:

RB DeShaun Fenwick, Oregon State – New England Patriots

This was actually one of the first players I wrote about during this pre-draft process, when I outlined him as one of the biggest standouts from the 2024 college all-star events, having watched him consistency showing up in positive ways during East-West Shrine Bowl practices. Funnily enough, I talked a lot about what Fenwick did during one-on-ones as a receiver in that piece, considering he only hauled in 30 passes across 50 career games between South Carolina and Oregon State. You saw him detach from guys down the field on corner and streak routes, but really what stood out was his attention to detail in that regard, altering tempo, throwing in rocker-steps and freezing the feet of guys covering him. Along with that, he has clearly worked on his technique as a pass-protector, erasing the space to blitzer and striking them with a tight punch. As a runner, he plays up to his size at 6’1”, 220 pounds as a battering ram RB2 for the Beavers paired up with what could be a top-ten back in next year’s class in Damien Martinez. However, while the ran a lot inside and outside zone there, I also really like Fenwick’s projection into more of a gap-scheme oriented approach, thanks to how well he can press creases vertically, make subtle adjustments to get to the opposite edge after blockers after forcing guys on the second level to commit and get skinny through tight creases despite his size.
So as I consider what this Patriots offense could look like under their new leadership, I think this is a back that could fit very well. Coming over from Cleveland, I expect offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt to re-commit to a more downhill-oriented approach, considering the pieces they have on the O-line outside of maybe former first-round pick left guard Cole Strange, when they seemingly wanted to dabble more in the wide zone meta we saw across the NFL. While they did bring in Antonio Gibson as more of a receiving option and someone who can provide some big-play potential, I think he’s someone you want to take mental processing off the table as more of a one-cut-and-go zone runner. Yet, Rhamondre Stevenson for as an even slightly bigger back then Fenwick, has some pretty sweet feet to navigate around points of pressure and pace himself as he sets up pulling linemen. As a fifth-year player, I think the former Oregon State RB can operate in a similar mold, even though I don’t like him as much when he gets out to the perimeter and utilizes blockers in space, while lacking that extra gear to pull away from the pursuit. However, he can take some of the load off the starter with his willingness to drop his pads and have a cumulative effect on the defense taking those kinds of blows. Paired with that, for a rookie he can also be useful taking on pass-pro reps and only dropped two of 32 catchable targets in his career with consistent overhand technique. Neither JaMychal Hasty nor Ke’Shawn Vaugh have really established themselves as committee options and Kevin Harris, who the Pats drafted two years ago with a similar profile, has only been active in nine games and touched the ball 37 times.

WR Isaiah Williams, Illinois – Detroit Lions

Someone I didn’t bring up as a player who emerged from the college all-star circuit but had a solid Shrine Bowl week himself, was Isaiah Williams. Formerly recruited as a four-star dual-threat quarterback, he made the transition to catching passes three years ago and while Illinois put the ball in his hands to hit his fellow receivers a few times during stretch, he put up just under 1100 yards and five touchdowns on 94 touches this past season, earning himself first-team All-Big Ten accolades. However, the reason not him but teammate Casey Washington actually got drafted is that Williams that he’s on the smaller end at 5’9”, 180 pounds and ran a 4.63 at the combine. To me, unless you look at the former as a pure special teamer, the NFL clearly took the wrong guy here. Wiliams is highly elusive off the line with subtle shifts or more violent sticks to gain positioning on the release, putting the defender in trail technique off the snap pretty much and then he plays so much faster than hos 40-time would indicate, to where you see him rapidly get on top of guys with that burst in slot fades. He can accelerate through his cuts, packs some effective swipe-moves to create separation against tighter coverage at the break-point and consistently was friendly to his quarterback. His drop rate is a little higher (7.0%) than you’d like to see and his contested-catch rate (35.3%) lower, but he shows no hesitation of extending for the ball in traffic and you love what he provides after the catch. He already has that lower center of gravity to be efficient with his transitions and make more dramatic moves in the open field, but he also shows the balance to pull through wraps, forcing 51 missed tackles across 164 combined catches over the last two seasons.
So I look at this Lions depth chart, they just locked up Amon-Ra St. Brown as their “power slot extraordinaire”, they hope former first-round pick Jameson Williams can build on some of the flashes late last season as a field-stretcher and Kalif Raymond is back for a fourth season in Detroit as someone who’s averaged 560 yards per year with them and has been their designated punt returner. However, beyond that, you’re looking at Donovan Peoples-Jones, who they traded a sixth-round pick to Cleveland for, but only averaged just over six offensive snaps outside of a meaningless week 18 game. I kind of liked Antoine Green as a seventh-round pick for them last year, who was this vertical ball-winner for North Carolina, because they didn’t really have that skill-set outside of maybe Marvin Jones Jr. – who’s now off the roster – but the then-rookie only caught one pass for two yards. The only other receiver currently on the roster anybody would even recognize by name is former Saint Tre’Quan Smith, who was bouncing between practice squads and was only active for one game last year. So there’s a pretty good chance Isaiah Williams makes it through final cuts as this team’s WR5 at least. He provides the YAC skills that this team is somewhat lacking and can be an extension of this run game, just like he was for the Fighting Illini, being a fly sweep threats, running backside bubbles or just creating microwave offense on screens.

WR Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, Georgia – Washington Commanders

Sticking with the wide receiver position, we’re looking at quite a different profile to Isaiah Williams with this 6’1”, 205-pound Georgia wideout. Rosemy-Jacksaint was four-star recruit in 2020, who struggled to work his way onto the field for a deep Bulldogs receiving corp, with just 11 catches over his first two years. He became a bigger part of the rotation in 2022 (29-337-two touchdowns), but really established himself as a senior, turning 34 grabs into 535 yards and four TDs. I first became aware of this player during Senior Bowl practices, but I actually didn’t love what I saw there. In a setting that favors shifty separators, who can take advantage of the extended space provided to them during one-on-ones, his routes became somewhat predictable with no deceptive speed and footwork alternations. That’s not saying I didn’t also see him come out of his front-loaded staggered stance without any wasted movement and didn’t like how he was able to violently stick his foot in the ground for sharp transitions as a bigger body-type, along with catching the first touchdown on gameday through contact. Going to the tape, I thought he was very disciplined with his route-stems, snapped off curls well and I really appreciated his play-strength, battling for positioning, defeating leverage of defenders and nudging them off at the top of routes. You combine that with big, natural hands (zero drops on 98 targets over the past two seasons), large catch-radius with those 33-inch arms and competitiveness with the ball in air, hauling in seven of 11 contested targets last year.
However, what really made me buy in with Rosemy-Jacksaint and what I think the Commander coaching staff will fall in love with is what he provides as a blocker. Works up to off-corners under good control and is able to latch his hands inside their frame at a high rate. You can deploy him in closer splits, cracking back on safeties, getting a tight grip on the point-man of bunches or even pinning edge defenders inside on plays out to the perimeter. And you see this guy’s hands stay attached until the echo of the whistle a lot of times to take defenders for a ride. Is there anybody this profile reminds you of, thinking about what new GM Adam Peters had in San Francisco? – Jauan Jennings is who came to mind for me. Just like the Niner’s dirty-work receiver and chain-mover, the question with the former Bulldog is the long speed, backed up by running an abysmal 4.81 at Georgia’s pro day. I’m not aware of any off-field concerns, which led to Jennings going undrafted, who I believe offered more after the catch. Washington’s offense will have a much more spread-out look than San Francisco of course with the combination of OC Kliff Kingsbury and second overall pick Jayden Daniels, but to complement a smaller receiving corp that will likely rely on the guy they selected 100th overall in Luke McCaffrey – who I believe is still learning the intricacies of the position – I think as a big slot and role player to help get the run game off the ground, I think Rosemy-Jacksaint has a good chance to make the roster. Assuming they’re looking at different options for the return game, this guy offers more on offense than Dax Milne.

TE Dallin Holker, Colorado State – New Orleans Saints

One of the more surprising players from this list who ultimately didn’t get picked as part of a fairly underwhelming tight-end class is Dallin Holker. There were only 12 guys who got selected altogether, but I had him just inside my personal top-ten. That was more of a reflection of the quality of the group overall, as I only saw five TEs inside my top-100 while everybody else had some clear warts. For Holker, he wasn’t asked to line up next to the tackle or would create displacement in the run game, while as a receiver he would tip off defenders by drifting during his route stems, he ran a 4.78 at 241 pounds at the combine and he’s not the most natural at contorting his body for off-target grabs. With that being said, there is plenty of good with the second-team All-American, who just put up career-highs across the board in catches (64), yards (767) and touchdowns (six). I thought his actual game speed was a lot better than what he was timed up, watching him gain a step on guys up the seams or racking up yards after the catch when hauling in passes on the run. Holker can also drop his hips and create space for himself and generally navigates well around ancillary zone defenders to find openings. He tracks the deep ball well over either shoulder, not losing focus with someone on his hip, and generally does a good job taking advantage of his large frame to shield the ball and absorb contact, as well as being flexible enough to pluck passes below his knees. As a blocker, you’re best served to utilize him on the move, whether that’s sifting across the formation, inserting against linebackers or covering up bodies in space when you try to get the ball out towards the sideline.
One of the keys to Holker not at least getting a call late on day three is that he didn’t leave the greatest impression during Shrine Bowl week, with a couple of semi-drops with contact and not approaching the ball optimally. However, I didn’t notice that as a general issue for him and as he acclimates to a higher level of competition, I think he has a place on an NFL roster as someone who can earn opportunities by being a reliable target who will fight for extra yardage, and he even lined up some at fullback during team sessions of those aforementioned practices. As I consider how he might fit in with the Saints specifically, I’m looking at a fantasy sleeper from a year ago in Juwan Johnson who didn’t match his prior production in a more prominent role, Foster Moreau as someone who they limited to an underneath option in terms of the pass game and whatever you want to define Taysom Hill as. Whether the latter is on the roster or not, with Klint Kubiak now taking over play-calling duties I’m expecting a fair share of multi-TE sets and could see Holker earn a role as an H-back on early downs and someone with alignment versatility in defined dropback settings.

IOL Drake Nugent, Michigan – San Francisco 49ers

Moving on to the offensive line now, I saw a path where teams would pass on Drake Nugent compared to see more impressive physical profiles on day three, but I was still shocked to see him go undrafted entirely. Depending on what you count some of these tackle/guard flex options as, there were between 25 and 30 interior O-linemen selected overall. For me, Nugent was IOL18, even though I acknowledge that he may be considered a center only at 6’1”, right around 300 pounds with pretty small hands. After barely seeing the field his first two years in college, he started all 39 games between Stanford and Michigan over the past three years, earning first-team All-Big Ten accolades and helping pave the way for a national championship as the replacement for another highly-regarded transfer at the pivot in Olu Oluwatimi. Nugent definitely lacks some size and length, to where you don’t see him just overwhelming nose-tackles at the point of attack or stun interior rushers with his punch. However, he wins as a run-blocker with great technique and naturally built-in leverage, being able to execute down- and back-blocks as part of the Wolverines’ gap schemes where they pulled their guards a lot, but he’s also very capable of getting his hips around to reach-block first-level defenders or secure moving targets climbing off combos. As a pass-protector, he operates with good flexion at his hips, knees and ankles in order to protect a firm interior of the pocket despite only being around 300 pounds. He consistently fits his hands underneath the chest of rushers, showcases impressive reactionary quicks to mirror active movers and is able to guide crossing linebackers or loopers off track at a high rate.
Considering what Kyle Shanahan and company value in terms of the offensive line – particularly at the center position – I think Nugent fits those qualifications very well. While the rest of the measurements aren’t as intriguing, he put up borderline elite agility numbers at the combine and you see that short-area quickness on tape as well. Michigan didn’t run a whole lot of outside zone, because the guys around the pivot were much more power-based and they’d mash people inside, creating extra gaps with their guards being used as pullers. However, I think Nugent can absolutely get to the play-side shoulder of shades and 2i-technique, wall off bodies on the second level and then has the lateral movement skills to slide in front of blitzers with how much 5-0 protections San Francisco runs, because they want to get five eligibles out in the pattern. Outside of their starter Jake Brendel, the only guy under contract who has really snapped the ball in the NFL is Jon Feliciano, who they brought in third-round pick Dominick Puni (Kansas) to compete for the starting gig at right guard for most likely. So I’m not sure if the Michigan standout makes the active roster week one, but if Brendel misses any time and Feliciano wins that position battle, he may end up starting at center or at least be your primary backup. And I can see a world where Puni starts a few contests at right tackle as well (after he played on the blindside for the Jayhawks), which would open up further opportunities.

IOL Kinglsey Eguakun, Florida – Detroit Lions

You’ll see a couple of other teams make the list with two potential impact UDFAs, but Detroit is the only one with multiple guys on one side of the ball, as I could see both wide receiver Isaiah Williams and Florida’s starting center over the last three years make the cut. What probably hurt him in this process is the fact that he was lost a month into the 2023 season with an ankle injury and he also didn’t work out at the combine due to tight hamstrings. However, we did see him perform at the Senior Bowl and I thought he had a really nice week. What stands out right away as we compare him to Michigan’s Drake Nugent for example is that he may not even be a full ten pounds heavier, but Eguakun presents a much denser build. Thanks to that, combined with throwing out a nice snatch-trap move a couple of times, his ability to anchor against power-rushers and put people on the ground when they get off balance, made him a very effective pass-protector. On 145 pass-blocking snaps last season, he was only charged with one sack and five additional pressures. In the run game, he has some impressive reps on tape executing different assignment on zone concepts, whether he’s latching and sustaining against D-linemen deep into the play-clock, overtaking/folding underneath on combos or shove scraping linebackers past the target. And for what that more squatty build might suggest, he’s pretty effective with getting to further extended landmarks and secure bodies in space.
With that being said, I did have a few other names ahead of Eguakun in my IOL rankings and he certainly has his flaws. Whether that’s not always bending at his knees and bringing his feet along as a run-blocker, his hands generally sliding to high in both facets and needing to gear up the level of activity in his hand-usage to battle interior pass-rushers. Combining those issues, he was penalized an insane 31(!) times across 1029 total snaps these last three years combined. Nevertheless, not only do I believe those issues are fixable down the road with the right coaching, but I also look at a pretty clear path to earn the backup center job and provide value as someone who can probably jump in at guard as well. Right now, with Graham Glasgow expected to jump in at left guard for Jonah Jackson, who just left in free agency, the only other O-linemen on this roster currently are Colby Sorsdal, who they selected in the fifth round as a developmental tackle out of William & Mary last year, the guy they surprised us with in the fourth round of this draft out of the University of British Columbia, who is also looked at as a guy who isn’t NFL-ready but has intriguing athletic tools, and former Boston College guard Christian Mahogany, who went a good 100 picks later than I expected late in the sixth round due to some medical concerns. None of those have experience at the pivot and otherwise there’s no other drafted player on this roster. Depending on if Detroit signs another free agent on the tertiary market, I see a good chance for Eguakun to make it through cuts.

EDGE Gabriel Murphy, UCLA – Minnesota Vikings

Nobody hit a bigger homerun on the undrafted free agent market last year than the Vikings. I heard the concerns around linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. coming out of Cincinnati and thought he’d go later than where I valued him, considering he was my 90th overall prospect, but when he landed with defensive coordinator Brian Flores in Minnesota, I immediately thought he’d be an impact starter, and he ended up playing at a fringe Pro Bowl level. This time around, they brought in a player I considered a fourth-round prospect but had some similar concerns based on length. His 30.5-inch arms place him in the sixth-percentile, although the rest of his measurables and athletic testing all basically were in the upper third for the position. Now, that does create some issues when he’s in those close combats against offensive tackles in both facets and you didn’t really see him be asked to stack-and-shed on the edge in the run game, as he was more so allowed to “make plays”. However, there are flashes of him even lining up at three-technique and anchoring against down-block, plus he just has a knack for swiping away the hands of offensive linemen and disrupting the backfield. What you really bring him in for however is that he can probably contribute early on already as a pass-rusher. He effectively sets up cross-chops and beats guys laterally with almost “euro-step”-like footwork. Murphy shows a great feel for the weight-distribution of blockers and has the versatility to move along the front, creating issues on the interior with his quickness. Playing along a loaded D-line at UCLA last season certainly helped, but he racked up 62 QB pressures across 355 pass-rush snaps last season.
Looking at Minnesota’s EDGE situation, they basically swapped out long-time veteran Danielle Hunter for a younger version in Jonathan Greenard coming off a career-year at the end of his rookie deal in Houston. Unlike many suspected them having to trade away both their first-round picks for a quarterback in the top-five, they were able to move up to 17th overall to pair quarterback J.J. McCarthy with what many regarded as EDGE1 in Alabama’s Dallas Turner. And they did sign former Dolphin Andrew Van Ginkel to a back-loaded two-year, 20-million-dollar contract, in part due to DC Brian Flores’ familiarity with him. However, while Jihad Ward is currently listed as an outside linebacker, at 290 pounds you’re not really going to ask him to drop into coverage, which they do a lot in a system that either brings six or only three, being very extreme-oriented. Other than that, it’s down to Pat Jones, who just played a career-high in snaps but more out of necessity and he didn’t grade out particularly well, and a developmental guy in Andre Carter who they picked up as a UDFA from Army last year and primarily was used on special teams. As I consider who can give you the most production on passing downs right now, Murphy at the very least comes in fifth in that pecking order. So I think he could be used as a spinner over the center and be valued due to his sudden hands to quickly win those one-on-ones Flores generates.

IDL Fabien Lovett, Florida State – Kansas City Chiefs

While they’ve made more investments recently, the Chiefs have a history of finding quality contributors on the defensive line late in the draft and as part of the UDFA market. They signed an edge rusher that I think could give them some snaps as part of the rotation with his urgent, violent style of play in Charlotte’s Eyabi Okie-Anoma. Yet, I want to focus on the big bear they added in the middle from Florida State. Lovett was tied for tenth in my interior D-line rankings and I thought his skill-set was worthy of investing an early day three pick in him. In terms of owning his space and sliding off blocks in run defense, he was up there with anybody outside of Texas’ massive T’Vondre Sweat as a guy playing between the guard. What I always said about him was that he had an innate feel for where pressure was being applied from and how to counter it, as he dealt with double-teams. Yet, his ability to lock out against soloes and then how slippery he is at disengaging and eating up the ball-carrier is equally impressive. Now, he doesn’t offer a whole lot of pop out of his stance and short-area twitchiness to be a legit part of a third-down package in the NFL, but he does have some dominant snaps of putting guards or centers on skates when left one-on-one and his level of activity with his hands is commendable for a guy at 6’4”, nearly 320 pounds.
As a sixth-year senior who some people may look like as a two-down player, it’s understandable that the league may value other guys above him, but there’s no way he should’ve gone undrafted entirely. Considering how Kansas City has treated their defensive front, these types of players like Derrick Nnadi, Mike Pennel and others have been valuable contributors. Especially this past season, we saw them run the second-highest rate of base defense and generally they go fairly depth into their depth chart with that position group, to keep guys healthy and give them quality snaps. So while those names I mentioned are still under contract, I think there’s definitely a path to playing time for Lovett since they value those early-phase run stoppers. This guy can occupy bodies to allow their linebackers to run freely, as they just some speed with the departure of Willie Gay Jr., but when they mug someone like Leo Chenal up and create even numbers up front, his ability to work off blockers and create quick stops allows them to get to longer downs and be aggressive in their pressure-packages. Yet, when they run more stop-drop coverages, Lovett can stay on the field and contribute as a pocket-pusher or someone who frees up lanes by pulling multiple bodies with him. I think he makes that roster or at the very least is one of the first call-ups from the practice squad, and he stands out as people watch the All-22 in DecembeJanuary.

LB Easton Gibbs, Wyoming – Seattle Seahawks

Moving on to the second level of the defense, there wasn’t as obvious a choice at linebacker as last year, but there still a few guys I could see making rosters, at least if they are significant contributors on special teams. One of those names become keen of was the last in line of some quality Wyoming LBs in Easton Gibbs. I first laid my eyes on him during Shrine Bowl week, especially in terms one-on-one reps vs. the running backs in coverage. He displayed quick feet to redirect with opponents and kept them in front of him, to where even if he did surrender catches, he would’ve been right there to set the tackle for minimal yardage. He was asked to move over the slot quite a bit during team drills, where he showed the ability to read the eyes of the quarterback as a quasi-overhang, yet he’d toggle back to targets in his vicinity and his play of the week came at the goal-line, undercutting a slant route, where he would’ve been off to the races for a pick-six. On tape, his closing burst as a delayed blitzer or taking off as a spy popped a few tomes, as well as the force to plow through running backs in protection. At 6’1”, 230 pounds, Gibbs presents a pretty dense build, with a wide chest, strong arms and a powerful lower half. He excels at creating leverage and stepping past the hips of linemen in order to circle around for the tackle when the ball is going his way, yet his lateral mobility to track (wide) zone concepts from the backside is equally strong.
Now, Gibbs can be overly concerned with beating blockers to the spot and loses vision on the ball at times, where he runs himself out of the picture. His transitions as a zone-defender and in open field tackling situations can be a little heavy-legged, leading to a missed-tackle rate of 11.6% across three seasons as a starter. So I thought he projected best as a SAM in a defense that utilizes his edge-setting skills and ability to cover tight-ends. That role doesn’t necessarily exist in Mike Macdonald’s system, but I think if paired with more of a rangy player on the second level, he can be a useful piece. That’s where the pairing with former Dolphin Jerome Baker makes a lot of sense, who can be the one that drops out of mugged-up looks and match up with guys out of the backfield as Gibbs is used as a pressure player. As I look at what else they have on the roster, there’s really only Tyrel Dodson in terms of guys with legit NFL experience, who logged two third of his career starts last season (10). Otherwise, they only have 23 total defensive snaps to show for at off-ball backer. Seattle did draft Tyrice Knight out of UTEP in the fourth round, who is a fun player in terms of the violence he plays with, but it also leads to him running himself out of trouble quite regularly at this point. I think there’s an outside chance Gibbs actually wins that second starting gig at inside linebacker and unless they love what one of those other guys provides on teams, he’s at least LB4 for this group.

CB Josh Wallace, Michigan – Los Angeles Rams

This was an insanely deep corner class and it would surprise a lot of people probably to hear there was actual one more selected (36 total) than at wide receiver, which was the topic of discussion alongside the quarterback all draft season. However, there were still a couple left who didn’t end up hearing their names called, who I expect to battle for roster spots. Josh Wallace is one of those, as someone who spent the first four years of his collegiate career at UMass before transferring to Michigan for his final season of eligibility, where he didn’t intercept any passes but did start 11 of 15 contests, with four PBUs, one fumble forced and two recovered. He’s more so average-sized at 5’11”, 185 pounds, but he plays above that weight-class, where he can bother receivers at the line. When he’s playing straight-up press-technique, Wallace does well to deny receivers to get to the edges of his frame, when he’s allowed to shade inside, he can ride guys into the sideline and then he can stop his momentum pretty well. As a zone defender, he showcases impressive recognition for route combinations, is forceful with his hands to funnel targets towards the safety to his side and generally his awareness for down-and-distance and game situations is excellent. On the negative side, he lacks great twitch at the break-point to erase that window of separation receivers are able to create on him, flipping with vertical releases a step early raises concerns around Wallace’s long speed – backed up by running in the high 4.6s at his pro day – and he’s not really a play-maker with the ball in the air, only intercepting three of 32 total passes defensed in his career.
Having said that, he did have an impressive Shrine Bowl week, stacking over top of routes, forcing guys to widen their stem, without allowing guys to detach on him, at one point coming up with an awesome interception in the end-zone during red-zone one-on-ones, walling off his man, getting his eyes back on the quarterback and diving for the ball. And the big case for him is the physical presence he provides out on the perimeter. This guy steps downhill vs. the run with a purpose and is looking to be the one initiating contact with blockers, then aims low as a tackler and significantly cut down his miss rate this past season against top competition, only missing two of 42 attempts. So while we don’t fully know what the structure of the Rams D will look like under new coordinator Chris Shula, taking over the principles and largely personnel of the previous iteration under Raheem Morris, there’s a pretty clear differentiation between the bigger, more hands-on boundary corners like Tre’Davious White and Derion Kendrick, and the quicker field-side options such as Darious Williams and Cobie Durant. White and Williams coming in as free agents, with Williams having familiarity with L.A. already, are slated to start week one, but I think Wallace could battle Kendrick – who had similar speed concerns, which were even more prevalent on tape – for the backup role on the short side of the field, where he’s asked to disrupt receivers early but doesn’t necessarily stick with them all the way across the field, while having help over the top or inside.

CB Chigozie Anusiem, Colorado State – Washington Commanders

The other top-30 corner for me who didn’t end up getting selected is someone else I saw early on at Shrine Bowl week but didn’t get to study fully until late in the process. For reference, there were eight guys at that position who got drafted – a couple as early as the fourth round – who I had ranked below Anusiem. Unlike Josh Wallace, I really don’t understand why he ended up not getting taken, since he has even better size at 6’1”, 200 pounds and ran a 4.39 at the Colorado State pro day. A former three-star safety recruit for Cal back in 2018, it took this guy a little bit to find his footing and it took until the final two of his six seasons in college for him to become a fixture in the lineup, once he had transferred to the Rams, where he logged a pick and 12 PBUs across 23 total games. Anusiem operates with good balance and his eyes locked in on the belt of his man from soft-press alignment. He shows the football IQ for what routes to anticipate based on splits and formations, slightly adjusting his technique, and then has 32-and-¼-inch arms to impede to progress of the guy across from him as he commits to the release. He has the wheels to run with just about anybody, his closing burst once receivers try to separate on secondary routes is excellent and then his length allows him to bat down targets others would settle for the tackle on. On 228 snaps in man-coverage over the past two years combined, Anusiem allowed just 12 of 36 targets his way (33.3%) to be completed for 157 yards and one touchdown, while actively forcing nine incompletions. In reality, he might be at his best however playing top-down in quarters and closing on stuff in the flats, where he looks comfortable peaking back at the quarterback, mid-pointing routes and passing along or falling off for targets in his vicinity.
He can definitely get a little too aggressive with wanting to dictate the route development and gets turned the wrong way, leading to some wasted movement – which you saw during Shrine Bowl week against more skilled route-runners – he’s quick to get into that three-quarter turn in deep zone assignments and lose vision of the wideout at times and when he’s attacking downhill against the run, he’s more so just catching ball-carrier, allowing them to drive through him for additional yardage due to his high center of gravity. However, it’s not like he’s missing tackles (just 5.2% of his attempts last season, compared to 6.3% for his entire career) and he’s generally a strong edge-setter, where he’s sliding inside of receivers to create early stops when the ball bounces his way or he punches off receivers with those long limbs, not shying away from sticking his nose in the fan against bigger bodies out on the perimeter. That’s why I thought someone would bet on his traits, teaching him how to hone in his aggressiveness in man-coverage, since he’s pretty reliable against the run from day one. And looking at what new Commanders head coach values from that position, it aligns with a lot that he brings to the table in terms of dictating terms to receivers with a high rate of man-coverage. That’s why they brought in Michael Davis from the Chargers to pair with Benjamin St. Juste, while drafting Mike Sainristil to start in the nickel for the them, but I’m a lot more concerned about last year’s first-rounder Emmanuel Forbes, who was over-drafted based on speed and having a nose for coming up with interceptions. This new front-office isn’t as invested in him to succeed and I could see Anusiem end up as their primary backup on the outside, since he’s a good 20 pounds heavier and fits more with their mantra.

SAF Millard “Nook” Bradford, TCU – New Orleans Saints

Finally, I want to discuss one safety here. This is a class that receive a whole lot of publicity, but taking my top-100 big board and the guys I listed as “the next 30 names”, I had 11 names up there and depending on how you want to define a couple of them who ultimately got picked, there were are 20 selected total.

2024.05.08 04:33 No_Needleworker6734 Season 2 theories

Based on the newest cast additions, here are some theories that I have:
Side plots will focus on Tyler and Bianca separately as they do have interesting stories to tell from last season - Tyler to see who he really he is now that Laurel is (presumably) out of the picture. Is he really this horrible evil monster, or is he someone who is deeply hurt and angry and needs help? And Bianca with her mother and the Morning Song cult. Will it become known that she cheated her way into Nevermore through her siren song?
Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Deputy Ritchie Santiago) was promoted from the recurring cast to the main cast. Which means she's more than likely to become the new sheriff of Jericho and that Donovan was forced to resign.
Thandie Newton's character, Dr. Fairburn, is either Kinbott's replacement, or Tyler's assigned psychiatrist at the psych hospital he was presumably taken too… unless he escaped of course.
Wednesday might become Tyler’s master. I do see the scenario where if you kill a Hyde master, then you gain control of the Hyde itself. Since Christina Ricci is presumably not returning to reprise her role as Laurel, then it’s more than likely Wednesday killed her, and she now unknowingly has control over him. This might be a reason why Tyler transformed in the back of the van as soon as Wednesday passed by in the Addams Family car.
Australian actress Frances O'Connor was casted in the second season as a guest star. Considering her age and appearance, I believe that she might be playing Tyler’s presumed dead mother Francoise, who was also a Hyde.
Evie Templeton’s character is perhaps Eugene’s age. Maybe he will develop a crush on her?
What do you all think?

2024.05.07 23:56 Mysterious_Bath Into the Fire Booking - Booking any star from Prime TNA in the Ruthless Aggression Era - Part 3

We now enter 2006, and there is a fair shakeup within The Fallen Angels. Kazarian has assumed control of the team, feeling that Daniels and his constant losing were causing the team to fail drastically. Daniels confronts him about this, but it turns into the same predicament as last time, although this time it would be much more brutal than the last attack, with Daniels getting his ankle stomped out as he is forced to be helped backstage with a limp.
It's revealed that Daniels has a shattered ankle and will be out of action for an undisclosed amount of time, but right now that isn't relevant as Kazarian looks to add to his rookie year by taking the WWE Championship in the Elimination Chamber. He would impress in the match, showing to be much more invested in winning the world title than the other competitors in the match. Kazarian would manage to pick up an elimination in this match, getting rid of Kane as he looks a legitimate threat to take Cena's title. He would make it to the last two, facing the WWE Champion as he has the biggest opportunity of his life to become a double champion. He would fall at the final hurdle though, as Cena would dispatch of him with an FU and retain his belt (for like another 3 minutes until Edge cashes in).
As for Daniels, it's complete radio silence. Kazarian throws some shots at him, even calling him out on occasion but he is never there. Kazarian is still insistent on winning the WWE title at some point, and announces himself for the Royal Rumble match, feeling confident in his chances of winning the match. As for Low Ki and Skipper, they are having a resurgence with new management, regaining their tag titles off Big Show and Kane in the opener of the Royal Rumble as the Fallen Angels now have all the belts around their waist. As for the Rumble match itself, Kazarian shines, entering at 9th and lasting over 45 minutes in the match. He would meet his demise in the match though as a debutant would throw him over the top rope, with this being none other than a masked superstar named Suicide. He would enter the match, rush Kazarian and throw him out of the ring before jumping over the top rope and eliminating himself.
Kazarian would go on a search for this new guy, eventually finding him and challenging him to a match. Suicide says nothing, and just points at the IC belt, signaling he wants the title on the line. Kazarian knows this whole debacle is stupid and agrees to it if it means he gets to beat the shit out of Suicide. They meet in the ring as Kazarian thinks it'll be an easy ride, but it proves to be quite the opposite as SUICIDE WINS THE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP!! WHAT HAS HAPPENED HERE?!! Kazarian tries getting a rematch, but Suicide isn't open to it. Instead, he hosts open challenges every week, allowing anyone and everyone to challenge for the belt, except Kazarian. Skipper even gets a shot of the belt, but falls victim to the Suicide Solution.
Kazarian in his delusion starts conspiring, inspecting everyone in the RAW locker room to see whether they fit the build of Suicide. He then realises that he should look for who isn't in the locker room and comes to the conclusion. Suicide is Christopher Daniels. The Fallen Angels jump the barricade during one of Suicide's open challenges, attacking him and trying to rip off the mask, with Kazarian insistent that Suicide is Daniels. They struggle to remove the mask so beat him up further until DANIELS MAKES HIS RETURN IN CRUTCHES!! The Fallen Angels look shocked as now it's clear he can't be Suicide with the big cast on his foot.
This doesn't stop Kazarian wanting his belt back, eventually getting a rematch in mid-February, but once again falls short following a fan jumping the barricade and breaking up his pin after a Back to the Future. Suicide would use this distraction to hit him with the Suicide Solution and retain his belt. Kazarian would drag the fan into the ring and begin beating him up, with security trying to prevent this from happening. Suicide stops him, driving him out of the ring and helping the fan up. Things become more clearer now as the fan is revealed as DONOVAN MORGAN!! THAT'S NO FAN...THAT'S DANIELS OLD TAG PARTNER!! To the casual eye they'd probably say who the fuck is this, but for people who follow more than WWE, they'd see that Morgan used to be Daniels partner in ROH under the Prophecy. Suicide then takes off his mask and REVEALS HIMSELF TO BE DANIELS!! KAZARIAN WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG!!
Daniels would reveal that Morgan was the one under the mask when he arrived with crutches on, already knowing about his plan to attack him. Every other week however, it was Daniels under the mask. As well as this, Daniels' ankle was never broken, it was just minorly bruised from the Fallen Angels' attacks, but he needed the time away to reflect. Last year he was a bad man, he exploited people, used every trick in the book to play them, and was not the man he wished he could be. Now its 2006 and he wants to turn a new page in his story, and he's planning to do that as the IC Champion. The Fallen Angels come out as Kazarian confronts them once again for the role they had in keeping the title from him. Daniels and Morgan just admit that they're smarter than Kazarian and if he had've thought of it, he would still be champion right now.
Daniels would revert back to his normal self, continuing to defend the IC title as the road to Wrestlemania 22 is fastly approaching. Daniels keeps the run up of defending the belt, retaining against the likes of Carlito and Chris Masters. Kazarian is constantly waiting in the wings though, as all signs point to a Wrestlemania showdown between the two. Daniels eventually gives in and accepts the match after Morgan is forced to retire following an abhorrent attack on him from the Fallen Angels.
Wrestlemania 22:
If this story is to be finally put to rest, it needs to come at the biggest show of the year. Both Daniels and Kazarian have an undying urge to end the other, with Daniels clearly having additional fuel to the fire after the assault on Morgan. Kazarian shines in this encounter, showing why he belongs at the top of the card and why he deserves to be champion. Daniels has all the cobwebs shaken off him now, not experiencing any cowardness or stage-fright, being fully calm and collected here tonight. This would aid him in this 14 minute encounter as he would manage to retain his title in the encounter, however, not in the way you'd expect. He would gain a bit of help as LOW KI WOULD COST KAZARIAN THE MATCH!! HE'S GONE ROGUE AGAINST HIS OWN LEADER!! This allows Daniels to capitalize, hitting the Angel's Wings to get the 3 count and retain his title.
Result: Christopher Daniels (c) def. Frankie Kazarian by pinfall to retain the Intercontinental Championship (14:41)
Following 'Mania, Daniels would find himself aligning with John Cena as he takes on Triple H and Edge, two men who have been gunning for Cena's title since the start of the year. They would end up on the losing side, with Edge pinning Cena in a big moment for the former champion. He would quickly have his attention shifted as the Samoan Bulldozer, Umaga would arrive, with his presence sending waves through the locker room. He puts his sights on the IC title, meaning Daniels is in the firing line. After some back and forth between the two, with Estrada speaking Umaga's mind, the match is set for Backlash.
Backlash 2006:
Looking to make a sudden impact like Daniels did a year prior, Umaga proves to be an unstoppable force in this match, wrecking through Daniels and making him look like a toy. Daniels fights back though, showing why he is the Intercontinental Champion as he won't go down without a fight, which is something Umaga gets as Daniels throws everything at him, having to adjust his moveset due to being unable to pick him up for the likes of the Angel's Wings. This would inevitably cost him, as Daniels would attempt to pick him up for it at the end of the match, but Umaga stops him and HITS THE SAMOAN SPIKE!! 1..2..3!! UMAGA IS THE NEW INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION!! DANIELS STOOD NO CHANCE!!
Result: Umaga (w/Armando Alejandro Estrada) def. Christopher Daniels (c) by pinfall to win the Intercontinental Championship (8:16)
Daniels decides to move on from the IC title picture, throwing his name in the hat and trying his luck at the main event spot once again. He would get the opportunity to rectify his mistakes against Michaels and Angle, whilst also picking up some high profile wins against the likes of Big Show and Viscera before getting a massive shot, facing John Cena once again in a non-title match. This time he doesn't let the opportunity slip, and manages to beat the champ, thus making him the No.1 contender to the belt. They are friendly in their feud, knowing how big this match is but RVD is lurking with his briefcase, telling them that he's taking Cena on for the belt first. Cena and RVD have their match at One Night Stand, with everything staying the same except Daniels confronts RVD after the match.
The animosity between the two is clear, disliking each other even after Daniels turn to the good side. With Cena occupied with Edge, it gives the two men a clear view of what the future holds. A rematch between the two after many months. They agree upon a place, having their match in Charlotte at Vengeance. They would go back and forth, with the fans split on who they want to win as they main event the show, taking up 22 minutes to put on another classic as RVD walks home with the belt. That doesn't mean things are over between the two, although Cena and Edge are now being chucked into the mix once again. All of this culminates in a Fatal-4 Way being created, with this set for the main event of RAW.
RAW, July 3rd 2006:
A star studded lineup, and one which Daniels can win by pinning anyone in the match. This would prove to be a non-stop contest, with no-one in the match willing to lose this opportunity at having the biggest prize in wrestling over their shoulder. There's something about Daniels in this match though, wrestling like his life depends on it as he's the only one in the match to not hold the world title. They take up 28 minutes of the show, just proving how resilient each man is as they all endure multiple finishers and high risk spots, with weapons used and blood spilled , with this standing out as a MOTY contender. It would all come to an end though, with a new champion being crowned as DANIELS HITS EDGE WITH THE ANGEL'S WINGS AND PINS HIM FOR THE THREE COUNT!! CHRISTOPHER DANIELS IS THE NEW WWE CHAMPION!!
Result: Christopher Daniels def. John Cena, Rob Van Dam (c) and Edge by pinfall to win the WWE Championship (28:04)
A nice moment to end this short third part to the booking, as Daniels finally overcomes his demons, becoming a better man, and once that sits nicely on the top of the wrestling mountain.

With help from u/New_Budget6672 pointing us towards realizing the hand sizes of the two smallest QB success stories (Brees and R.Wilson) falls DEAD CENTER of the hand size sweet spot range that corresponds to the highest success rates, everything we found is quite eye opening.

With help from u/New_Budget6672 pointing us towards realizing the hand sizes of the two smallest QB success stories (Brees and R.Wilson) falls DEAD CENTER of the hand size sweet spot range that corresponds to the highest success rates, everything we found is quite eye opening.
2024.04.25 07:51 Legend27893 2 questions about blackjack card counting

I know how to count cards and have at a casino a few times just for fun. Have still not come out ahead long term (been to a casino about 20 times in my life). One question I have about counting cards is this: Say the count is +5 (true count)... Doesn't the house have a high probability of getting a 20 or a blackjack (heaven forbid that blackjack is with the 10 card up so you can't even take insurance)... In other words is card counting even worth it because the house even when the shoe is rich of getting a 20 or 21?
The other question is for card counters: What secrets did you use? I once brought a friend with that can also count cards and on the way to the casino we agreed to use jersey numbers from the AFC and NFC to communicate the count with each other to make sure we both knew it. AFC teams were negative (i.e. Lamar Jackson from the Baltimore Ravens is number 8 so if the count is negative 8 we stop playing until the next shoe... If the count is a Donovan McNabb then it is a positive 5 count and bet big). We would choose blackjack tables that had a TV on a sport channel and would of course blend the talk into what was happening on TV. "Hey that draft pick for the Colts reminds me a lot of Donovan McNabb the way he plays". The casino staff never caught on but I did get backed off once because I was at another casino counting alone and the pit boss basically said "you're way up and we know what you're doing". Got a free lunch voucher out of it though:)

The Collect
Almighty God, by the hand of Mark the evangelist you have given to your Church the Gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God: We thank you for this witness, and pray that we may be firmly grounded in its truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Readings:
Isaiah 52:7–10
Psalm 2:7-10
Ephesians 4:7–8, 11–16
Gospel: Mark 16:15–20
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
Commentary:
Today our study focuses on the last verses of the Gospel of Mark, as this day, 25 April is the day set aside by some churches to remember this Gospel writer. These verses, 15-20, are the subject of interest among theologians and academics, as these scholars tend to agree that Mark, ended his gospel with verse 8.
“He may have intended to add an account of the resurrection and ascension, but wasn’t able to do it—or the original ending could have been lost. Scholars believe that people, identity unknown, added the Longer and Shorter Endings long after the Gospel was written—because those people felt that verse 8, which focuses on the terror and fear of the disciples and fails to mention the resurrection, could not possibly constitute a proper ending for a Gospel of Jesus Christ.” (Donovan)
The reasons, cited by Donovan, for believing that verses 9-20 were added later include the following:
  1. Verses 9-20 aren’t found in the oldest (and presumably most reliable) manuscripts.
  2. They weren’t known to the earliest church fathers.
  3. They include a large number of words not found in Mark 1:1—16:8, and are stylistically different as well.
  4. They appear to be derivative—based on passages from Matthew, Luke, John, and Acts. Mark was the earliest Gospel, written before any of those four books. If it is true that Mark 16:9-20 reflects knowledge of those books, this Longer Ending would have had to be added long after Mark 1:1—16:8 was written.
Donovan asks the question, apparently rhetorically, if verses 9-20 were part of the original text or were added later; if added later, should we regard these verses as authoritative.
Christians have taken various approaches to that second question. Most modern translations of the bible make some attempt to acknowledge the problem. The NRSV, for instance, includes both the Shorter and the Longer Endings, and has a lengthy footnote that explains the problem. I suspect that most Protestants avoid preaching on these verses. However, the Council of Trent (1546) included these verses in the Catholic canon, and the Roman Catholic lectionary for Ascension is based on verses 15-20. Some commentaries conclude their verse-by-verse treatment with verse 8. Typically, they include a lengthy piece that outlines the questions about the Shorter and Longer Endings, but don’t try to explain the meaning of those verses. Some commentaries—usually conservative in their approach—did treat verses 9-20.” (Ibid)
As for me, I see no reason to not treat these verses with the same respect we give to the rest of Mark’s work.
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” (vs. 15-16)
To whom they were to preach the gospel. Hitherto they had been sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, and were forbidden to go into the way of the Gentiles, or into any city of the Samaritans; but now their commission is enlarged, and they are authorized to go into all the world, into all parts of the world, the habitable world, and to preach the gospel of Christ to every creature, to the Gentiles as well as to the Jews; to every human creature that is capable of receiving it. "Inform them concerning Christ, the history of his life, and death, and resurrection; instruct them in the meaning and intention of these, and of the advantages which the children of men have, or may have, hereby; and invite them, without exception, to come and share in them. This is gospel. Let this be preached in all places, to all persons." These eleven men could not themselves preach it to all the world, much less to every creature in it; but they and the other disciples, seventy in number, with those who should afterward to be added to them, must disperse themselves several ways, and, wherever they went, carry the gospel along with them.” (Henry)
This was a command, not a suggestion. “Interest in missions is not an elective in God’s university of grace. It is something in which every disciple is expected to major.” (Ironside)
The idea of a faith that should go into all the world wasn’t a part of the Jewish thinking in the days of Jesus. It wasn’t part of the pagan thinking either. It was a revolutionary idea in its time. This command was not obeyed immediately; for many years, the disciples stayed at Jerusalem, and it was only until the church was persecuted that it began to spread out to the world. But it did spread and continues to.” (Guzik)
During the colonial era, missionaries from the West traveled to the far reaches of the Earth to preach the Gospel to the various indigenous peoples. It is indeed ironic that we now see these Christians—who retained their saltiness while Western Christians became Progressive and lost it (see Matthew 5:13) —traveling to the West to bring back what has been lost, preaching the Gospel or giving needed rebuke to the American conventions such as the Methodists of Africa recently did at the UMC. (see Africa UMC Initiative, at Juicy Ecumenism, The blog at the Institute on Religion and Democracy.)
An army chaplain once said to the Duke of Wellington, ‘Do you think that it is of any use our taking the gospel to the hill tribes in India? Will they ever receive it?’ The duke replied, ‘What are your marching orders?’ That was the only answer he gave. Stern disciplinarian as that great soldier was, he only wanted marching orders, and he obeyed; and he meant that every soldier of the cross must obey the marching orders of Christ, his great Commander.” (Spurgeon)
Verses 15& 16 serve to briefly summarize The Great Commission as found in Matthew 28:18-20:
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;” (v. 16) “Matthew’s version of the
Great Commission includes a requirement to baptize people “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19)—and Christians have long-since practiced baptism as an essential ritual. However, the emphasis in this verse seems to be on belief versus unbelief rather than baptism. As such, it serves as a corrective to the disciples, who refused to believe the testimony of Mary Magdalene (v. 11) and of Cleopas and his companion (v. 13) who testiåed that they had seen the risen Christ. However, as suggested in the årst half of this verse, baptism is an important act of obedience once a person has come to believe in Christ Jesus. Baptism follows belief.” (Donovan)
Verse 16b in the KJV is a bit awkward for those accustomed to 21st century phrasing; “but he that believeth not shall be damned.” Other translations make these word of our Lord a bit more understandable such as that in the English Standard Version; “but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
A superficial reading of Mark 16:15-16 would suggest that sinners must be baptized to be saved, but this misinterpretation disappears when you note that the emphasis is on believing. If a person does not believe, he is condemned, even if he has been baptized.” (Wiersbe)
The omission of baptized with ‘disbelieveth’ would seem to show that Jesus does not make baptism essential to salvation. Condemnation rests on disbelief, not on baptism. So salvation rests on belief. Baptism is merely the picture of the new life not the means of securing it.” (Robertson)
At the same time, it would be terribly wrong to regard baptism as “non-essential.” It may not be essential to salvation, but it is absolutely essential to obedience. Jesus told the believer to be baptized, and they must do it. It becomes essential as soon as Jesus commands it.” (Guzik)
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;” (v. 17)
What power they should be endowed with, for the confirmation of the doctrine they were to preach (v. 17); These signs shall follow them that believe. Not that all who believe, shall be able to produce these signs, but some, even as many as were employed in propagating the faith, and bringing others to it; for signs are intended for them that believe not; see 1 Co. 14:22. It added much to the glory and evidence of the gospel, that the preachers not only wrought miracles themselves, but conferred upon others a power to work miracles, which power followed some of them that believed, wherever they went to preach. They shall do wonders in Christ's name, the same name into which they were baptized, in the virtue of power derived from him, and fetched in by prayer” (Henry)
In the Old Testament, signs and wonders served primarily to testify to God’s power. In the New Testament, signs are also used to validate the ministry of Christ’s disciples. That is how the word signs is used in this verse. The Greek word semeia is one of the several words found in verses 9-20 that is not found in the rest of Mark’s Gospel. It is an especially important word in the Gospel of John, and is used frequently there.” (Donovan)
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” (v. 18)
This promise is to be understood in the context of the dangers inherent in the worldwide spread of the gospel, as Paul was bitten by a snake and preserved on the island of Malta (Acts 28:1-6). Jesus never intended drinking poison or handling snakes to be a specific test or measure of faith.” (Guzik)
It has been a while since I last heard or read about a church where snake handling was a prime part of the worship service, but when these churches were in the news, it occurred to me that possibly, allowing your self to be bitten by a snake as a test of your faith, was very similar to the tests of Christ in the desert when Satan tried to get Jesus to jump off of high places. As for me, I prefer not to test God by jumping off of tall buildings or sticking my hand in front of an angry viper, but rather, I choose to rely on my faith, and I don’t have to prove it to any human, God knows what is in my heart, as he knows what is in your’s.
So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.” (vs. 19-20)
he was received up into heaven,” “ It was important that Jesus leave this earth in His bodily presence, Jesus had to ascend – so that confidence would be put in the power and ministry of the Holy Spirit, not in the geographical presence of Jesus. Jesus went ahead to prepare a place for you (John 14:3); to make intercession for us (Romans 8:34); and to give gifts to men (Ephesians 4:8).” (Guzik)
and sat on the right hand of God” “He is said to sit on the right hand of God, to distinguish him from angels, whose places are but places of ministration.” (Poole)
And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following.” “ When we go out to do the work of God, Jesus will work with us. The disciples did what Jesus told them to do, and Jesus then did what only He could do – the accompanying signs. This is an excellent pattern for ministry. The preaching came first and then the signs following. Signs are meant to follow believers, instead of believers following after signs. The final verse continues to this day. The followers of Jesus are still preaching everywhere, the Lord is still working with them, and He is still confirming His word through accompanying signs. Amen!” (Guzik)
We close today’s study with yet another quote from Matthew Henry; “These were properly signs following the word—the reformation of the world, the destruction of idolatry, the conversion of sinners, the comfort of saints; and these signs still follow it, and that they may do so more and more, for the honour of Christ and the good of mankind, the evangelist prays, and teaches us to say Amen. Father in heaven, thus let thy name be hallowed, and let thy kingdom come.
Benediction
Jesus called us to be the salt and light of the world, so as to make his kingdom a reality among us and to bring it to those around us by our words and deeds. The way to do this is to live as he lived: for others, in love and service. Almighty God, we ask you to continue to bless us and prepare us for this task. We ask these things in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Amen.

2024.04.25 02:32 BallerBerg THIS TIME: Supporting Michigan Football, Team 144 & Their Pursuit of the National Championship

December 31, 2022:
We had everything planned to attend the 2023 CFP National Championship Game at SoFi Stadium in LA - myself, Amy (wife) and Bill (dad). We'd secured tickets through UM Athletics, thanks to Bill's season ticket holder status and a little ticket lottery luck. All our accommodations were set. On New Year's Eve morning, with kids in tow, Amy and I drove from Ann Arbor to Chicago so that we could watch the semifinal game with Bill and the rest of my family at my childhood home. Everything seemed to be coming together. It was our time.
Maize and blue runs deep in our family. Amy and I met at UM as college students back in the early 2000s. We got married in AA a few years later and eventually put down roots there to start our family. Bill graduated from the UM B-school back in '70 and has been a football season ticket holder for over 40 years. I was 6 months old when I attended my first game at Michigan Stadium, better known as the Big House. As that story goes, on a hot September Saturday in 1982, a “bundled baby got redder and redder, until he was cooked just right” - a Michigan fan ever since. Fifteen years later, I was a highschool sophomore in '97, the last time Michigan Football won the National Championship. Too preoccupied with teenager life to appreciate it then, this time would be different.
Needless to say, we were all amped for that 2022 semifinal game. Our bags were packed. All The Team had to do was win. And then TCU happened. Pick six. Fumble. Pick six. Season over. Plans ruined. Total let down. I felt completely deflated. Collectively, we had a golden opportunity in our grasp, only to watch JJ and The Team literally throw it away with those interceptions. A week later, still distraught, I didn't even watch the National Championship game.
By the middle of January, wounds still healing, we started thinking about the next season and Team 144. JJ said they'd be back and I wanted to believe him. The third time could be the charm. Team 144 would be hungry, driven to redeem themselves and finish what they started together back in '21. Where is the 2024 CFP National Championship Game? Houston. Ok, that's doable. It's not southern California, but still warmer than Michigan in January. One can hope. Let's keep it in mind as the season gets underway.
August: The Plan
Summer's coming to an end and I'm itching for the start of the next season: Michigan Football season. After following The Team's progress throughout the summer, I'm now confident: this is the year. Amy and I start looking at January house rentals in Houston. We find a great place with something for everyone: outdoor pool, basketball hoop, billiards table, patio, arcade games, plenty of space. I check with Bill, who's 75, has bad knees and hasn't made it to a game at the Big House in a few years. These days he's often giving his tickets away to family or selling them. Just maybe he'll go for the Houston idea, since we were on the verge of going to California just over half a year earlier. Maybe, this time would be different.
Without hesitation, Bill is ALL IN. He's psyched. Sue (mom) and Ryan (brother) are coming too. Amy and I book the place. Book the flights. We tell ourselves that we'll enjoy the holiday break getaway in Houston with family, whether Michigan's playing or not. This would become my mantra throughout the season, an attempt to channel my inner JJ McCarthy, ground and convince myself that win or lose, it will be ok and we will enjoy our time in Texas, maybe.
September: The Domination
The season starts out as expected, even with Harbaugh suspended for the first 3 games, as Michigan pummels lesser opponents en route to easy victories. We half watch the TV, as you might with preseason, exhibition games. It's nice to have on in the background while summer winds down over Labor Day weekend, with the start of school and casual get-togethers to celebrate fall birthdays. All the while, when others engage in small talk about The Team, I try to curb my enthusiasm, not mentioning the Houston plans, for fear of jinxing it, coming off as cocky, crazy, or both. 4-0.
October: The Scandal
The calendar rolls over and The Team starts rolling through the B1G. We watch as The Team “cooks just right” in a Nebraska heatwave, then drops 52 on Minnesota, before returning home to do the same to Indiana. Next up: in-state rivalry week. I can't wait to watch The Team manhandle the Spartans. There's no doubt and there will be no mercy. And then the unthinkable - the “Sign Gate” scandal hits. What is this nonsense? Who the hell is Connor Stalions? How will The Team react? M 49, msu 0. Yes, msu was already deep in their own Sparty brand of turmoil, but it always feels great to beat the hell out of your in-state rival.
Rumors and speculation, and stories about rumors and speculation, continue to swirl like the Wizard of Oz twister. I dress up as Connor Stalions at work on Halloween, complete with “Michigan Manifesto,” headset to nobody, binoculars, iPhone camera and crusty M hat. The Stalions CMU allegations start flying that day too - complete with pictures - sunglasses at night. Welp, his career is over-over and now I just feel bad for him. So, I change up my costume for trick or treating with the kids. I don't need to kick the guy who's already down and now, all the way out. “Vast Network” feels a little more appropriate, all things considered. 8-0.
November: That Gauntlet
The bye week feels like forever as rumors and reports reach a fever pitch. Can we just get back to playing football? I head to the purdon't game with our college buddy, great friend and crazed M fan, Scott. My first in-person game of the season, I'm hoping we win 1 million to zero to quiet some of the media frenzied noise. The Team looks a little rusty after the week off, but takes care of business. Final preseason game: M 41, purdue 13. Ok, that's done. Let's play some meaningful football.
The first true test: penn state. Even before the scandal, everything pointed to this game. First ranked foe of the season. Time for The Team to finally show college football they are That Team. Then, the unthinkable and unprecedented: Harbaugh is served a second suspension, while en route to Happy Valley, less than 24 hours before kickoff. Wow, that's low, B1G.
I'm in complete disbelief. The Team might not even get a chance to prove their true moxy. Nevermind. Interim Head Coach Sherrone Moore's got this and That Team is ready for that stage. Amy and I cheer and scream and coach the TV screen from home on nearly every play. Take that, B1G. Take that, haters. Michigan 24, penn state 15. We too have tears in our eyes afterward as Sherrone and Blake give passionate post-game interviews on the field. Tears of pride, anger, unity, determination. I firmly believe. Texas or bust. We.Are.That.Team.
One more obstacle before The Game: Maryland. On a whim, and with the promise of unseasonably warm November weather, we decide to make a family road trip to see Michigan go for program win 1,000 against the Terps. It's a sunny, warm and windy day in College Park. Their stadium gives me some serious Northwestern vibes. And I've seen Michigan lose at N'Western, multiple times and in devastating fashion. With the boys alongside, we should make it through half-time, at least, hoping for M dominance early and often. Early, yes. Often, no. Maryland puts up a good fight. And we manage to make it through the whole game while That Team and That Defense does enough to get That W: 1,000. Michigan 31, maryland 24. Michigan fans outnumber Maryland in the stands and later on the field. Right after the game, an announcement is made about Maryland fan photo ops on the field. Then, the announcer immediately follows that up by asking Michigan fans to please leave the field. Yes, that’s our cherry on top.
Thanksgiving Week. The Game. The Anticipation. The Hype. Michigan vs. Everybody. This is it. The Game to end all Games. It's all I can think about. I text Scott, Bill and other M fans constantly throughout the week about Game day planning, strategy, and the overwhelming hype, mainly as an outlet for my increasing anxiety and excitement. Scott and his dad (affectionately known as Cap'n Ron), Bill, Sue and Ryan all make the trip to AA for it. Bill attends his first osu game in a decade, a precursor and physical prep for a hopeful National Championship trek. He believes too. And we all know how this one plays out. Zak Zinter goes down. The crowd rises up. Blake Corum scores. Rod Moore intercepts and calls “Game!” From our seats in the northeast corner, it sure looks like a clean pick to me and Amy. And once it's confirmed, The Celebration is on! Michigan 30, osu 24.
The field is flooded with M fans, same as in '21, but this time around, with a feeling of determination instead of relief. After many post-Game cheers at the golf course tailgate, we eventually make it back home to immediately watch the TV broadcast. The confirmation of the Rod Moore interception brings me the most joy in that moment. And in every rewatch since. Tears well up again, this time with Bill too. We are lucky enough to have experienced, in-person, the biggest Game there will likely ever be in the rivalry. Over 40 years since that first game, when I got "cooked." Regular season complete, 12-0. Houston dreams alive and well.
December: That Wait
The B1G Championship is just a matter of how much we're going to win by, right? Yep, Michigan 26, iowa 0. B1G Champs. Three-Peat. Here we come, CFP! Swept up in the excitement of it all, Amy and I decide to add a Pasadena detour to the Houston family trip. We book everything in. Season ticket holder Bill throws his name in the UM Athletics ticket lottery hat for the Rose Bowl. We find out a few days later, he didn't get them. Dammit. Demand was sky high to see M take on 'bama in the Granddaddy of Them All. Dammit. What now? Let's go out there anyway. Scott and Cap'n are going. We can hang out with them and support from the golf course, watch at a local sports bar and enjoy some California sunshine for a few days.
Prior to CA, we find out that we ARE eligible to get CFP National Championship tickets again. Lucky for us, the demand for those tickets isn't as high as the Rose Bowl among M fans. Maybe because it's on a Monday night? After the holiday break? Or the uncertainty of M needing to win the Rose Bowl first? Whatever the case, thank gawd, because prices on the secondary market are already outrageous ($1800+) and likely going to get worse, especially if Texas beats Washington. So, one year later, after all that, we're back in the same boat and familiar waters. 13-0, with California (and Texas) travel plans in place. It's time. Let the trip begin.
January: That End
On our way to the airport, I'm again trying to convince myself that this family trip will be fun no matter what. Think it into truth. What did George Costanza say? “It's not a lie, if you believe it.” Another year of New Year's Eve travel. We fly out of DTW, landing as the clock strikes midnight out west, in enough time to celebrate the New Year by picking up our rental car and hitting the road towards Pasadena. Here we come, 2024! We make it to the Rose Bowl golf course a few hours pre-game to tailgate with Scott and Cap'n Ron, who are attending the game. Beautiful Rose Bowl weather - sunny and 65 at 10:30am. Mountains and historic stadium in the background, this golf course feels like outside the Big House in September, about a 75/25 split in Michigan's favor. We party it up while the kids throw the football around for a couple hours. It's perfect. We talk strategy with the Albrechts and high hopes That Team is ready this time. About an hour before the game, we manage to make it out of the golf course, salmon swimming upstream, and to an LA sports bar. The kids have food, screens and chargers. I'm an edgy, nervous wreck, but there's nothing more I can do than find a good vantage point to watch without screaming in anyone's face. It's time. Let the game begin.
As with several games this season, it starts out poorly. Even through multiple rewatches, I still can't believe JJ's first throw. The muffed punt. The extra point. The missed field goal. The second muffed punt. Total special teams meltdown. Holy cow. Amy and I look at each other in disbelief. Is this TCU all over again? But, maybe not, as That Defense remains consistent and keeps the game within reach. As the California sun sets and that dim bar lighting takes effect, time is running out. 4th quarter, 4:41 left. Then: That Drive. 4th and 2 conversion by Blake. JJ first down run. Tipped pass, Roman catch and out of bounds at the 5. Roman TD to tie the game. Blake bowling over everyone in OT for the go-ahead touchdown.
Amy and I are coaching, nudging each other, again yelling at the TV, and pleading with That Defense to once again save the day. 'Bama first and goal - rush for no gain. Second down - Mason Graham bulldozer tackle for loss. Third down - pass complete, 'bama WR awkwardly twisted down at the 3 yard line. Injury timeout. 4th and goal. Michigan timeout. 'Bama timeout. Amy and I can't take it anymore as we pace around the bar. No more timeouts left, this is it. Here we go, bracing ourselves in a linebacker ready stance, like we're going to make this play. Low snap, 'bama quarterback dives towards the end zone. He's well short and emphatically flattened. Game. Over. Pandamonium in Pasadena. That Team rushes the field, sprinting and screaming in every direction, embracing each other: Victors Valiant. We scream out with joy and pride too, running around the bar, high fiving every Michigan fan in the place. Did that just happen? Every focus of Team 144 over the last 365 days has led to THIS moment. Blake Corum lets everyone know: “See you in Houston!” Rose Bowl Champions. Michigan 27, 'bama 20.
Scott and Cap meet us back at our LA rental and we collectively relive our experiences, from the stadium to the bar, rewatching the game immediately. This win feels like the breakthrough moment, the pinnacle of a truly unbelievable season. To defeat 'bama, Nick Saban and the program that has won the most CFP National Championships - not sure it gets better than this. California feels glorious for the next three days. Everything is right with the world. I run the neighborhood streets of LA three mornings in a row, decked head to toe in maize and blue, listening to my season anthem on repeat and there's only just enough gravity to keep me from floating away. 2024, off to a magical start and savoring every moment of it. This is what we missed last year. But, still, one more to go. Business isn't finished. 14-0, Houston dreams have become reality.
We make our way to Texas and settle into our Houston Big House. My parents and brother arrive and we reminisce about the Rose Bowl victory, rewatching the whole game (again), analyzing and cheering in prep for Monday night. Landing a day later and full of spirit, Scott and Cap join us too, with surprise guest, Melissa! On Sunday, we all check out the CFP fan fest, see Michigan board the team buses and leave for their final team walk through before the National Championship. Thumbs up and smiles from Coach Harbaugh. Ready to win, as Ted Lasso might say, “the whole damn thing.” That night, Ryan, Scott and I do 'Victory Cannonballs' into a pool that feels like the Polar Plunge, in the name of winning it all. We stay up too late. But, who cares, the next day is the National F-ing Championship and this time, everything's going to plan.
Championship morning comes and I go for a run in a warm Houston rain, knowing that I'm going to be an anxious mess all the way up to kickoff. Scott and Cap grill up a pregame tailgate feast for everyone at the Houston House and we all try to enjoy ourselves for a few hours during a day that we can't wait to turn into night.
Eventually, enough time passes for us to finally make our way to NRG Stadium. As we park, black storm clouds start rolling in, the winds pick up and it feels about 30 degrees cooler in 30 seconds. Storm before the calm? We book it to the stadium as fast as Bill's now 76 year old knees will allow. Like all the Wolverine faithful, he is on his game today and we only get a little wet. Thanks, pocket ponchos - not our first rodeo. As we make our way to the Michigan side of the stadium, our fans are as hyped as we've ever seen - cheers and chants breaking out constantly, as if we'd already won. And maybe we had. The Rose Bowl felt like the true hurdle.
Amy, Bill and I settle into our seats about an hour before kickoff, watch the teams' final on field preparations, starters announced and pregame band shows. With the thunderstorm raging outside, the roof is closed and it's warming up in NRG. Sweating it out as we approach kickoff, I'm channeling John Fogerty, “Put me in, Coach! I'm ready to play!” Nervousness, anticipation, and exhilaration all flow freely. We are ready to make history. Almost game time.
A Houston space launch hype video countdown keeps everyone on their feet after the Star Spangled Banner, roaring to kickoff. Michigan gets the ball first. And this time, everything goes to plan. No early game struggles. No waiting for the team to settle in. Nearly mistake-free football. Michigan marches down the field on their first two drives, scoring on back to back long TD runs from “The Don,” Donovan Edwards. To end the quarter, Blake busts loose for another long run and we can barely contain ourselves. We look at each other, wide-eyed, cheering, laughing, asking, “Is this really happening?!”
During the second and third quarters, we come back down to Earth, as the competition on the field levels out. When Washington scores a TD just before half to make it a one score game, the tension rises again in the stands. Out on the concourse during the break, a much different tone than pre-game. Anxiety fills the air as fans quietly make their half-time moves. While Bill and I battle a long pit stop line, the second half gets underway, immediately followed by a stadium shaking uproar from our crowd. What happened? Interception? Another M fan, watching on his phone, shows us the replay as All-American cornerback Will Johnson makes a spectacular pick. And just like that, the anxiety lifts after That Defense steps up and Michigan adds to the lead.
By mid 4th quarter, Washington battles back to make it a one score game again, despite our defense making life miserable for Penix on nearly every throw. The Michigan offense, relatively quiet and conservative since the 1st quarter, re-opens the playbook. JJ slings the pigskin to Colston and Roman, hauling in long catches and darting down the field. Then, Blake the Great weaves through defenders to score and Championship dreams take another step towards reality.
Time for That Defense to finish the job, one more time. The final nail: Captain Mike Sainristil's interception. We shout with pure joy as he follows a maize and blue convoy down the sideline and towards the end zone. Game. Over. Bill, Amy and I embrace in a “Holy crap, this IS happening!” moment. Hugs, high fives and tears all around. More hugs, more high fives, more tears. Sighs of relief, selfies, group photos, videos, all of it. This is real.
Over my 40 plus years, I've been lucky enough to attend many memorable Michigan Football games, defeats and victories, most thanks to Bill. Elvis Grbac to Desmond Howard for The Catch on 4th and 1 vs Notre Dame. The Kordell Stewart to Michael Westbrook Hail Mary loss to Colorado. Charles Woodson solidifying his Heisman in The Game. Anthony Thomas' fumble at Northwestern. Phil Brabbs' kick to beat WA. The Braylon Edwards’ game vs MSU. USC dominance in the '04 Rose Bowl. App State. Under the Lights vs ND. Program Victory 1,000. The 2021 and 2023 victories in The Game. And now, watching Michigan win the National Championship with my wife and father by my side.
In all the rest of my Michigan sports fandom, it's hard to imagine anything more meaningful than this. We, together, experienced this season with Team 144. The highs and lows, expected and wildly unpredictable. We witnessed Michigan achieve perfection. Several weeks later, I’m still basking in the glow, floating, framing as many pictures as my walls will hold to immortalize the experience. Still contacting Bill about the trip, looking ahead to next season as Defending National Champions, and referring to each other as “Champ” in most of our conversations. Savoring each moment and enjoying daily as the dream continues to slowly settle into reality.
Sometimes you plan and prepare and it goes to hell. Sometimes it's “cooked just right.” Michigan 34, Washington 13. The Team, That Team, Our Team: Team 144. 15-0. Perfect Season. Michigan Legends. National Champions.
January 8, 2024:
Thank you, Michigan Football, for a lifetime of memories, and Team 144, for this time in particular.
Forever, GO BLUE!

My sims live in an Apt. but I waiting for her at the lower level to come out and she NEVER DID! I’m scrolling thru the entire map for her household and I can’t find her at all. Is she a regular townie or do she belong to an household? If so can I please have help bcuz I want my baby back 😩 I’m not sure if this was a glitch/bug but I’m really tryna find her so I can get my baby back.
