Balance Changes

The combination of towers you are able to pass round 1 with can change quite a lot in any overall strategy, especially for more restrictive game modes, so for this update we have made an effort to open up new starter combinations with improvements to a number of initial placement towers.

Tower Balance

Dart Monkey
While we have been working to increase this niche with many new maps, Juggernaut’s functions sub-optimally for the majority of current maps in the game as the knockback doesn’t scale well without good rebound opportunities; to help with this we’re increasing their knockback force slightly with even more emphasis on the less-favored crosspath. We are slightly reducing the cost of Super Monkey Fan Club to overall improve the value of taking multiple to maintain higher uptime
Boomerang Monkey
Boomerang base price is being slightly reduced, already a decent start in many cases though this seemed enough to make slight game start changes and price it differently to other towers. The main attack for MOAB Domination has been scaled up as overall it is a good upgrade but the pierce on this main attack was previously unchanged from the T3. Glaive Lord’s main thrown attacks will now be able to bounce back again and hit the same target multiple times, this can be a very powerful effect so there is a cooldown on how frequently any single Bloon can be re-targeted.
Bomb Shooter
Bloon Crush does its job locking down all movement in an area, but we feel it could see more damage to reduce the stall time without the balance really changing much. Bomb Blitz was recently refitted to a cheaper price range while proportionally keeping a similar power level for the cost, however seeing it now in this spot we feel keeping higher damage will give it the edge it needs to feel more impactful than spamming Recursives.
Tack Shooter
Tack is a very powerful base tower technically, but it is unable to achieve high uptime of that potential power in many early rounds, so some base cost is moving into the cheaper xx1 and xx2 upgrades to make it easier for other towers to start alongside the tack. Additionally, while we’ve held out on this change as there are strong use cases in prior upgrades, Blade Maelstrom lacks the single target punch to last late in Modern Bloons. While it is designed as a high pierce cleanup of low tier Bloons we want to try shifting some pierce to single target damage to feel good for longer.
Glue Gunner
Increased duration has limited use on upgrades that completely destroy targets anyway, so a better crosspath benefit is being added onto 401 glue puddles. Bloon Solver’s pierce is being reduced as it is over-overkill for how many Bloons you realistically see at once, but this reduction should not be noticed for most players. Glue Splatter stands out as weirdly expensive for T2, and is rarely even needed so we’re significantly cutting its price to bring it down to a more affordable range with less pierce, we hope this should make it more worth considering for splatter coverage over piercing. Now that Glue Storm is extremely good for damage type & debuff support we’re removing the bonus speed reduction that should otherwise require xx2 crosspath and lowering the duration of the Glue Storm. New Relentless Glue finally offers something quite powerful so cost is slightly increasing.
Sniper Monkey
Lower tier Shrapnel crosspathing balance doesn’t feel great currently, so the damage crosspath benefits at T1 & T2 are improving. Even with the high damage per shot, Cripple MOAB still has low value outside of debuff capability, we feel that these shots pack enough of a punch now that they should do a little collateral damage - so lets do it! (we’ve also increased shrapnel pierce at this tier to not tip crosspath balance too far to one side).
Monkey Sub
Bloontonium Reactor’s unsubmerged damage is increasing to encourage unsubmerged possibilities. The bonus to Lead on Reactor currently doesn't apply to T5, so this bonus is being carried up and improved along with a small price reduction to Energizer as strategies using it have fallen somewhat in viability. Nautic Siege Core’s hero buff is being improved as currently this is an under-utilized part of the tower.
Monkey Buccaneer
While buccaneer is technically already a very good starter tower for maps that happen to have ideal spots allowing it to attack in both directions we feel this situation isn’t common enough that the tower should be priced around that expectation - this reduced cost is added back to top and bottom T3 upgrades as they do not need the buff. As the paragon has exceptionally powerful scaling mechanics as well as being a paragon that continues to produce cash the XP Unlock requirement is increasing, this increase will not affect players who have already unlocked it.
Monkey Ace
Minor catchup changes to some parts have fallen out of line slightly due to balance changes for other parts of the Ace.
Ace - Goliath Doomship
A lot of stats shuffled around here; this should keep the power level roughly similar overall but with proportionally more of that power coming from the seeking attacks, and less from micro aiming the faster firing frontal gun.
Heli Pilot
Overall Comanche cleanup and stats shuffle; with the goal of improving baseline non-buffed performance and making it less demanding of Geraldo’s Pickle for high damage.
Mortar Monkey
Artillery Battery use has really exploded (!) and over the past few updates it has been sitting fairly steady in a great spot, the current power level feels good but we don’t want to create too big of a gap from the T3 yet so only a very slight cost increase. Blooncineration’s 025 crosspath currently works so much better with external buffs so we're tweaking the 205 crosspath to feel better in some situations.
Wizard Monkey
Wizard has a weaker base tower so the base cost is going down in exchange for a small price increase to the cost to value ratio for the effective Arcane Mastery. As Fireball becomes very forgotten at higher tiers and is hard to even see at Dragon’s Breath, we’re improving the crosspath and adding even more projectiles at T3 for wider explosive coverage. As Shimmer is the slowest de-camo in the game it is important that it not miss when it does trigger, so pierce is greatly increased. Wizard Lord Phoenix’s Wall of Fire hasn’t had any meaningful upgrade progression, so its damage is being increased. Magus is one of the more in-depth Paragons to use effectively so having it as one of the cheapest to unlock didn't feel right, the unlock XP requirements for this and Ninja are being swapped around.
Super Monkey
Super Monkey projectiles already travel most the map length so that total distance is being reduced and adding back via the range-focused middle crosspath. The recent Robo/Tech Terror nerfs had a larger impact on the Anti-Bloon, so it is seeing a larger compensatory price reduction. Legend of the Night’s special passive ability is being failsafe limited to 2 activations per round, per tower.
Ninja Monkey
While a great early game option, Ninja generally struggles with dominant crosspathing choices and also has relatively poor base tower value. Without going into every single change, T3s onward remain relatively unchanged with a lot of prices below T3 being moved around from less favorable crosspaths into bettehigher tier upgrades. Ninja Paragon is very simple to use so unlock XP requirements for this and Wizard Paragon are swapping around so Ninja is the faster unlock. This increase will not affect players who have already unlocked it.
Druid
Passive life generation is being removed in favor of the active ability being the only source of life generation, this allows druid-focus strategies to no longer ‘accidentally’ heal their Vengeance buffs away. Heart of Vengeance itself has been allowed to remain overpowered for a long time since life loss is not always an option in different challenges/modes, but with newer competitive modes being added over time that do allow for this mechanic to be, overindulged, shall we say, it feels due for substantial rebalance.
Banana Farm
Monkey Wall Street’s cost is being increased, but in return its special bonuses have been improved with more life generation and much more range for Banana collection.
Spike Factory
Spike Storm is now exceptionally strong so the ability cooldown is increasing a small amount along with the T5 cost. This comes along with a crosspath rebalance granting more 042 lifespan. Long Life Spikes can start creating a nice buildup of spikes in advance but most of the time feels fairly meh as a stepping stone into Deadly Spikes, a little price here is being shifted up to improve standalone upgrade value.
Monkey Village
Primary Expertise’s own attack is unreliable due partly to low bounce distance, so this is being increased. Base level Monkeyopolis continues to over perform, so the baseline cash generation is reducing.
Engineer
While better than many options, base Engineer still takes a lot of available starting cash so the cost is reduced slightly and being moved back up into Cleansing Foam & Bloontrap; also with a reduction to Double Gun’s price to reflect the lower value of the base tower. Sentry placements are slightly changing to improve their reliability, and will now spawn closer to the track depending on how much range the sentry has. Sentry Champion, while strong with them, is lacking without high buff support so we’re trying out an increase to the sentry damage on it.
Beast Handler
In going over our large list of price changes for Beast Handler’s lower tiers in 42 this change was received very positively, however we did not realize that in making this change we killed off all chance of dual-beast handlers being used as a round 1 starting option for under $650 in hard modes – So we gotta do that math all over again and convert it for difficulty, painful 😀 All T1 beast prices changed to allow 110 & 101 beast handler combos to be placed for under $650 in hard mode, all T2 & T3 prices shifted around to keep these same cost ratios.
Orca is very strong currently but Great White doesn’t do so much outside of max merge MOAB Takedowns, so damage is increasing to improve these non-maxed situations.
Similar to Sentries, Beast spawn placement will now scale closer to the track based on how much range the beast has.
Golden Eagle has stood out more than Condor against MOABs which has felt very wrong, last update it was nerfed against MOABs and now we are playing with the pierce & penalties to improve Golden Eagle further against non-MOAB-Class targets and for Condor more help with lower MOABs.
We’re slightly reducing beast reposition cooldown as the tiny range leaves movement very tight, which is especially painful for Microraptor path given the low range.

Hero Balance

Quincy
Quincy’s Rapid Shot starts with an extremely short duration that slowly increases over levels, the difference between min and max is huge but it doesn’t feel too impactfully increased at any point through the leveling up process, so we are increasing the base duration and instead moving the buff up to max duration all into his Lv13 which currently doesn’t do much.
Gwendolin
Gwendolin’s Heat it Up was recently reworked to allow for much more frequent triggering from attacks, however the 4.5s internal cooldown still limits it from being scaled up far so that internal cooldown is now also being reduced. Additionally, Heat it Up’s bonus buff to damage against Lead targets has been improved slightly so we can get more out of that niche.
Obyn Greenfoot
Obyn isn’t necessarily the best support for every type of Druid to reach its highest DPS, but with his more easy reliable design it feels appropriate for him to solve Druid’s biggest weaknesses in a more laid back approach with:
Benjamin
Benjamin’s Cyber Security and Skimming levels have been swapped around so that the early game skimming cash snowball doesn’t come quite so soon, and Cyber Security can come in earlier where it will make a bigger impact proportionally to the lives being lost.
Admiral Brickell
We’ll probably regret this, but the nerf made people very sad, and that is not a life goal 😢
Etienne
Etienne's drones are prone to missing due to very low projectile speed, this speed is increasing a fair amount to help with this as drones already have an inability to directionally aim well.
Psi
Purple Popping is underwhelming with how late it comes online, so this is swapping around with level 11’s slightly faster pop speed.
Geraldo
Geraldo has been far too powerful for a while and all-round nerfs are coming to many outstanding aspects, however in return a little quality of life is coming with some more forgiving stock capacities and much more flexible Fertilizer; with the % benefit being reduced in return for improved replenish rate, maximum stock and the ability to now work on all Banana Farm types.
Corvus
As Corvus’s power is still considerably top-heavy the mid game performance is being improved with buffs to underused spells, but also top-end power of his 2 most powerful level 20 spells is being reduced to lessen the pressure to ‘need’ to get this far.
Relics
Minor tweaks to Heartless which feels it has no competitive edge over most other Relics & Monkey Boost which overperforms on all available tiles.
Some Relics required more functional changes. As more range is situational and sometimes detrimental Going the Distance has been merged with Durable Shots to also grant increased Lifespan, Durable Shots now instead increases the pierce of all towers. As ‘Popping White Bloons’ is also far too situational Deep Heat now also grants Frozen Bloon popping and improves the duration of Freezes.
Boss Bloons
Bloonarius
This is really just for fun, bringing increased variety of Bleed Bloons from higher tier Bloonarius
Dreadbloon
Rock Bloons in the higher tiers of Normal Dreadbloon are very outscaled, and so their health values are being increased.
Phayze
In Elite mode Phayze’s speed bonus while shielded is being reduced by 5% across the board as it felt just a little too quick.

🔗White 20' x 20' Decorative Party Tent with Enclosure Kit

https://preview.redd.it/ovgkohpmt43d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dafcf36c8d5e524ec21894e581e2ce6705c0c53f
As a first-time tent purchaser for my family's annual cookout, I can confidently say that the ShelterLogic 20 x 20 ft White Party Tent & Enclosure Kit has been a game-changer. Gone are the days of renting a flimsy tent that barely protects against the elements or spending a fortune on an event venue.
Setting up this sturdy party tent was surprisingly easy. The tool-free frame assembly made it quick and simple, even for someone like me who isn't naturally handy. However, I did find that having another person or two helped quite a bit when it came to lifting the vertical support poles into place.
Once assembled, the ShelterLogic Party Tent truly shines. The 1.5-inch diameter galvanized steel tubes provide unmatched durability and strength, while the heavy-duty fire-rated PVC fabric not only stands up to the elements but also offers UV protection and waterproofing. Plus, the decorative scalloped valances and clear PVC windows add a touch of elegance to any event.
One standout feature of this tent is the Enclosure Kit, which includes complete wall and door panels. This versatile option allows you to have full protection from weather elements or enjoy an open-air feel depending on your event needs. Additionally, two double zipper doors enable easy access for guests without compromising structural integrity.
In terms of durability, I found that the ShelterLogic Party Tent held up well during a light rainstorm and strong winds. However, I would recommend using more robust ground anchors in case of extreme weather conditions.
Overall, the ShelterLogic 20 x 20 ft White Party Tent & Enclosure Kit is a worthwhile investment for anyone looking to host memorable outdoor events. While it may require a bit of elbow grease to set up initially, its durability and craftsmanship make it a reliable choice that will last through many gatherings.

I recently purchased the 20' x 20' Twin Tube High Peak Frame Party Tent - White for a garden party I was hosting, and I must say, it has been a game-changer. Not only was it incredibly easy to set up, but it also provided an elegant and spacious shelter for my guests. The high-quality materials, such as the 16 ounce PVC-coated polyester and the 2.5 inch anodized aluminum frame, ensured durability against windy conditions.
One feature that stood out to me was the frame tension design, which eliminates the need for center poles and side poles. This innovative design provided more space for my guests and equipment. Additionally, the cast aluminum corner fittings and the 8' tent legs ensured stability and strength during the entire event.
However, one downside I noticed was the weight of the assembly. Although it didn't hamper the ease of setup, it did make it a little more challenging to transport and store. Overall, I am thrilled with my purchase and would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable and stylish party tent.

I recently got my hands on the ShelterLogic 25777 Party Tent Enclosure Kit with Windows, and I have to say, it's been a game-changer for my backyard gatherings. This little beauty turns any 20x20ft canopy into an instant screen house - perfect for camping trips, picnics, or just relaxing in the backyard.
The highlight for me was definitely the ease of setup. In no time, I had transformed my plain old canopy into a cozy screen house that kept the bugs and pests at bay. However, one minor con was the lack of detailed instructions which made the installation a tad confusing at first.
Despite this, I must admit, the overall impact of this product on my outdoor activities has been incredibly positive. It has significantly enhanced our outdoor experiences, making them more comfortable and enjoyable. So if you're looking to upgrade your existing canopy, don't miss out on the ShelterLogic 25777 Party Tent Enclosure Kit with Windows!

🔗Easy-Up 20'x20' Standard Canopy Pole Tent - 80 Person Capacity

I recently got my hands on the 20'x20' Weekender Standard Canopy Pole Tent, and it has made my outdoor event preparations easier than ever. The tent sets up quickly and easily, even for those who aren't particularly handy. Plus, it provides ample space for various events like weddings, parties, and graduations.
One of the features that stood out to me was the translucent vinyl fabric that is not only 100% waterproof but also resistant to flames. The bonded panels and scalloped valances add a touch of professionalism to the overall look of the tent. Even though I didn't need them, the permanently installed sidewall ropes provide extra protection from wind and elements, should they be necessary.
The sturdiness of this product is another highlight that I've appreciated. With its galvanized steel tent poles and well-constructed fabric, I'm confident that it can withstand minor weather challenges during short-term events such as patio or backyard BBQs.
However, there's one issue that I've noticed with the product - durability. Even though it's advertised as suitable for various occasions, I've found the material to be somewhat delicate, making it prone to rips and tears from debris or sharp objects on the ground. To prevent this, it's recommended to use a ground tarp for laying out the tent top before installation.
Overall, the 20'x20' Weekender Standard Canopy Pole Tent has been a game-changer for me in terms of organizing outdoor events. While the material's durability could be improved, the ease of setup and the spacious shelter it provides make it worth considering for anyone hosting parties, weddings, or similar gatherings.

This compact yet spacious tent has been nothing short of amazing for my indoor product photography sessions. The installed light kit bundle offers a versatile range of backgrounds in white, black, gray, and orange, making it perfect for any product I want to showcase.
What truly sets this tent apart is how effectively it softens the illumination of my LED lights, giving a more professional and polished look to my product photos. I also appreciate the ease with which it folds down and fits into the included travel bag, making it incredibly portable for on-the-go shoots.
However, one minor inconvenience I've encountered is that the light stand is a bit wobbly and might require some extra support during use. Overall, the GTX Studio LED Shooting Tent 20x20 offers a fantastic combination of portability, performance, and versatility, making it a must-have for photographers of all levels.

The Weekender West Coast Frame Party Tent from Party Tents Direct is a game-changer for outdoor gatherings. This 20 ft x 20 ft beauty has changed the way I host parties. The ease of setting it up is unbelievable - no center poles needed, and you'll be good to go in no time. I love how spacious it is, even with a high 12' overall height and 7-foot tall legs that provide ample space for guests and equipment.
Construction-wise, this tent is built like a fortress with a sturdy galvanized steel frame and fittings. The PVC top cover is a masterpiece of strength and endurance, being waterproof, UV-resistant, and fire-resistant. The alligator clips and replaceable polyester sidewall ropes make adding sidewalls a breeze (sold separately). I must warn though, the instructions could use a little work. There were some instances where certain things were not very clear, but overall, it was manageable.
Its durability is impressive, withstanding a fair amount of wind and rain without showing any signs of wear. With this tent, I've hosted everything from casual backyard barbecues to formal corporate events, and it has never let me down. The only downside is that the nylon ropes tend to slip, causing slight adjustments from time to time. However, this was easily resolved by replacing them with ratchet straps, making it much more secure and less prone to slipping.
Storage and transportation are a breeze with the included storage bag, full instructions, care manual, and all necessary hardware. And the best part? The price is incredibly reasonable, making it an amazing value for anyone looking for a reliable, durable, and easy-to-use frame tent.
All in all, I'm beyond thrilled with the Weekender West Coast Frame Party Tent. It has single-handedly transformed my outdoor gatherings, and I can't recommend it enough. If you're in the market for a top-notch, easy-to-assemble frame tent, look no further! This gem is definitely worth checking out.

I recently got my hands on the ShelterLogic 20'x20' Blue/White Party Tent Enclosure Kit with Windows for my garden party. The first thing that caught my attention was its vivid blue and white color scheme, which added a nice touch to the overall ambiance. The fabric is sturdy and I could tell it's reliable in withstanding various weather elements.
I particularly appreciated the individual clear PVC windows that allow light into the tent while simultaneously maintaining privacy - perfect for a cocktail hour or reception. The double zipper doors ease the process of entry and exit, and the skirt anchors ensure that the entire structure remains stable on windy days.
However, there were a few cons that didn't sit well with me. One, the height wasn't as I expected and some of my taller guests felt a bit cramped. Secondly, the assembly process was fairly cumbersome and took much longer than I anticipated. Lastly, even though I got all the parts, the lack of a proper assembly manual made the whole process quite confusing.
All in all, this party tent offers a nice blend of aesthetic appeal and functionality. Despite some minor hiccups, it provides a decent shelter for outdoor events, given the right conditions and proper assembly.

I recently set up the American Phoenix Party Tent for a family gathering, and it was truly a game-changer. The thicker steel tubes and rust-resistant coating made it incredibly sturdy, even in windy conditions. The roof material was impressive too, as it was not only waterproof but also provided excellent UV protection.
The plastic windows allowed for ample natural light, and the zippered curtains offered privacy when needed. However, the assembly process was a little complex, and I found myself referring to the instructions quite frequently.
Overall, this tent is a reliable option for hosting outdoor events, though it may require some patience during setup.

As a frequent host of backyard gatherings, I was in search of a reliable and sturdy shelter that would provide ample protection from the elements. That's when I came across the Caravan Canopy Magnum Shelter, a 20 ft. x 20 ft. pop-up party tent. I must admit, setting it up initially was a breeze, thanks to the pull pin slider and height adjuster, which made the assembly process hassle-free.
One of the standout features was its full truss design, which allowed for added stability during even the windiest of days. The aluminum frame not only made it lightweight and easy to transport but also ensured that it was less prone to rusting than steel frames. While the pop-up design made it easy to set up and break down quickly, it did take some time to get the knack of collapsing the frame properly.
However, the spacious interior provided by the 20 ft. x 20 ft. square size has allowed me to comfortably accommodate my guests during various gatherings. The only downside I've encountered is that it can be a bit difficult to install the roof, as the elastic straps can sometimes become tangled.
All in all, the Caravan Canopy Magnum Shelter has made hosting events in my backyard a stress-free affair, and I eagerly look forward to using it in the future.

As a reviewer who's had some first-hand experience with the Impact 20 FT x 20 FT Event Canopy, I can attest to its sturdiness and ease of setup. The canopy is quite large, making it perfect for family reunions or outdoor weddings. Assembling the canopy can be a breeze, though it's worth mentioning that some users found issues with the instructions.
The canopy's durability is also worth mentioning, as it's made with thick materials to withstand harsh weather conditions. However, some users reported missing parts and difficulties with customer service, which can be quite a headache. All in all, the Impact Canopy is a solid option for those in need of a large event shelter, but it may require some extra effort in terms of communication and assembly.

I recently hosted a family reunion in my backyard, and thought a sturdy tent would be perfect for providing shade on a hot summer day. I decided to give the 20'x20' West Coast Frame Tent Top a try. This green and white tent definitely stood out, making my event look more organized and put together.
The highlight of this tent top is undoubtedly its durability. It's made of heavy-duty 16 oz block-out vinyl, which is both mildew resistant and flame retardant. I was really impressed with how well it held up against the windy conditions during our reunion. The aluminum reinforcement plates on the interior and exterior also added a lot of stability, ensuring that my guests stayed protected from the sun.
However, there were a few downsides to this tent top. Firstly, it doesn't include the actual frame for the tent, so I had to buy one separately. Additionally, while the fabric is designed to be waterproof, it's not very breathable, which made the interior feel a bit stuffy on humid days.
Overall, I'm glad I chose the 20'x20' West Coast Frame Tent Top for my event. Its durability and resistance to mildew and flame make it a reliable choice for outdoor gatherings. Just keep in mind that you'll need to purchase a frame separately and be prepared for some stuffiness on particularly humid days.

I remember when my friend and I decided to host an outdoor birthday party for our mutual friend. It was a risky move considering that the weather forecast had rain in the mix. But I had my trusty Outsunny 20' x 20' Heavy Duty Wedding Tent and Carport with me, and boy did it save the day!
The Outsunny tent is an absolute lifesaver, quite literally. It protected our friend's birthday car from getting drenched, and it turned our so-so backyard into an elegant party venue. Its weather-resistant capabilities, reinforced structure, and transparent sidewalls truly enhance the overall event experience. Plus, it was a breeze to set up and take down!
However, one issue I did face was with the anchoring system. The instructions mention using ropes and stakes, but I felt that the stakes weren't sturdy enough to hold the structure firmly in place during strong winds. That's something that could be improved.
Overall, the Outsunny tent has been a game-changer for me. I've hosted several outdoor events since then, and this versatile tent has always been at the top of my list. If you're in need of a heavy-duty carport with great weather resistance, look no further!

I was in search of a sturdy, attractive, and easy-to-assemble tent for our family gatherings and after weeks of scouring through different options, I stumbled upon Tent and Table's 20x20 High Peak Frame Party Tent. Oh boy, it was like finding a hidden gem!
The highlight of this tent has undoubtedly been its 16 oz block-out vinyl material, which has not only helped in keeping out the harsh sun but also provides a waterproof and fire-retardant layer of protection. The frame tension design and the use of tension cables have made the entire structure incredibly strong and stable, capable of withstanding the rigors of our wild family parties without compromising on the elegance and aesthetic appeal.
Another significant feature of this marvel is the fact that it eliminates side poles and the center pole, making it an ideal choice for gatherings that require more space. The 2.5" anodized aluminum frame and the included 8 3/4 x 22" galvanized steel stakes are worth a special mention, as they are incredibly durable and help in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of the tent.
However, just like any other product, the Tent and Table's 20x20 High Peak Frame Party Tent isn't perfect. I found the instructions to be a tad bit confusing initially, which led to a bit of a learning curve during the assembly process. Moreover, the overall height of the tent is slightly on the shorter side, making it a bit difficult to move around comfortably for taller individuals.
All in all, the Tent and Table's 20x20 High Peak Frame Party Tent has proved to be a valuable addition to my collection of camping and party gear. Its durability, ease of assembly, and elegant appearance make it a perfect choice for both indoor and outdoor gatherings, and I can't wait to share this fantastic find with my friends and family.

2024.05.28 06:18 MinuteMedium5833 Sharing My Standing Desk Experiences: Tips for Those Considering a Purchase!

I am quite a familiar user of standing desk (and ergonomic chair, too) and thought that maybe all the isssues and experiences I had with my standing desks as a long-time user can help those who are considering buying one:
  1. Never buy 1-motor standing desk, no matter how good its price is. Trust me on this as you will probably regret it shortly after 2-3 weeks of using it. First, 1-motor standing desk means weaker loading capacity. This will cause you trouble if you want to customize your desk. An average 1-motor standing desk can lift up to 100 - 150 lbs, but don't forget that this also includes your tabletop. A solid wood tabletop with the size 48''x24'' can weigh ~30 lbs already, not to mention all those stuff like monitor arm, 1-2 monitors and dozens of accessories on top of it (let's imagine you have a gaming monitor that's 34 inches wide, 2 sets of speakers, 1 CPU, keyboard, books, other decorations...ask yourself how long your 1-motor standing desk can survive with all these things). Apart from this, 1-motor standing desk also have high risk of causing uneven issue (because only 1-leg have the motor and the other doesn't) -> trust me, you don't want to buy a desk and plan to use it for 2-5 years, then constantly have to reach out to CS just because your standing desk has a silly problem)
  2. Invest in the frame, not the top: The most important part of a standing desk is its frame, not the top. The desk frame hosts all the technology inside it and directly affect 80% of your experiences. A deks frame that's considered good enough is one that is made of SPCC steel, can lift up to at least 200 Ibs. You should also check what's the max & min height of the desk frame to know if it's suit you or not. For me a good height range should be somewhere between 26'' to 53'' (some products in the market are now offering around 29'' to 52'', and for me it's okay but some of my friends said that with 29'' min height it's still too high for them). Also, normally after like 1-2 years, you might want to change your tabletop due to its decreased quality, or you just simply want to refresh your workspace. So you're gonna keep the frame and get rid of the old tabletop. That's why invest too much money on the tabletop in the beginning is not a wise choice to make.
  3. Choosing the right top: This can greatly vary depending on each user's preferences, but I believe most of the discussions would be about this thing: MDF or Solid wood. To summarize it: MDF is cheaper, lighter, and less affected by environmental changes (places where humidity is high can eventually affect the quality & finishing of solid wood furniture). In the meantime, solid wood top is heavier, sturdier and more aesthetically pleasing. Solid wood can come with different natural shapes and patterns if you a fan of these things. Also, there's one thing that lots of standing desk sellers or brands won't tell you, is that the shipping cost of solid wood top is quite pricey due to its weight. So if you plan to buy a solid wood, be aware that it's not that you are paying more for better quality, but sometimes you are paying more for shipping. I also asked some of my friends and colleagues about whether they like mdf or solid wood tabletop, and it's 50 50. But there's one thing I agree: people choosing solid wood top over mdf is not because of the finishing or quality but more about the looks and feels of it. As nowadays technologies allow standing desk makers to improve the finishing quality of their mdf top way better than before, and when it's out in the market it's difficult to pinpoint any imperfections on the quality (also, there's this thing called UV coating which is applied in the production of mdf wood top, the harder the UV coating is, the better the quality of the tabletop. you can search more on Google, I am not a technical expert so I will pass it here)
  4. Price: A 2-motor standing desk starts from $300 - $500 (Autonomous, Flexispot, Fezibo), or $600 - $800 (Ergonofis, Branch, Uplift), or above $1000 with some big brand names (HM/Fully, Secretlabs...). And it's really up to your budget, but for me it's not really worth investing in more than $1000 for a standing desk (I notice some brand like deskhaus sell their desk at $2000 which is crazy). I understand that higher price come higher quality, but please keep in mind this: will you actually use all of that crazy features and functions that go with that crazy price? For example, a $1000 desk frame (without top) is surely more sturdy than a $300-$400 one, and can lift up to 400 Ibs, but do you really need that capacity? For me, there are products that I just need them to be good enough and come with a fair price, and desk are one of them.
  5. Other things, keypad design, warranty...:. For some people, keypad design is a minor thing, as long as it functions well. But for me I have a different point of view. The interesting thing about the keypad are it's a small part of a standing desk but can significantly contribute to the overal feelings of user about the desk itself, depending on its design and how you interact with it. There a different types of keypad design in the market: Physical button; touchscreen (button or slide, like Ergonofis desks); and touchless (like the SmartDesk Levitate) Mine are physical button (from Autonomous), and it's alright. But I wish it has more cool features, like the touchscreen slider of Ergonofis or a integrating the keypad onto the desk top, like Secretlabs Magnus Pro. For me the important thing about the keypad is how cool/asthetic it looks, not its function. Because the memory presets and standing/sitting modes are way too basic to be considered, and almost all brands offer this so it's not a big concerns. But from the moment you interact with a cool, creative keypad design, you can immediately tell if you love that desk or not.
TL;DR: Go for 2-motor standing desk; invest money in the desk frame over the top; don't go for expensive standing desk (>$2000) unless you have to/or have budget; cool/creative keypad design can positively affect your overall experiences.

Stepper hat for Pi Zero
I've wired up two DRV8825 stepper drivers on to a Pi Zero prototyping board. I had been using an Adafruit Stepper bonnet, but the bonnet can't handle a more powerful 24volt NEMA 17 stepper that I wanted to upgrade to.
My plan is to use a large motor for the slide so I can move on an incline. Then use the existing motor with a gearbox to drive pan or tilt.
My plan is to use this on my work in progress timelapse slider. https://youtu.be/Z4fMwQC2de0?si=yRS_DdtjEPHtl_iG

2024.05.27 16:00 sonofabutch No game today, so let's remember a forgotten Yankee: Dave Eiland

"I worked really hard to be mediocre. But I studied. When I lay my head on my pillow, I’m very satisfied, not so much with my record or my numbers, but I know I gave it everything I had every day." -- Dave Eiland
Who is the only player in major league history to give up a home run to the first batter he faced, and to hit a home run against the first pitcher he faced? It's not Babe Ruth, it's not Shohei Ohtani, it's not even Roy Hobbs. It's Dave Eiland!
David William Eiland was born July 5, 1966, in Dade City, Florida. He was an all-conference football and baseball at Zephyrhills High School and then attended the University of Florida on a scholarship to play baseball and football, but an injury his freshman year ended his NFL dreams and he focused on baseball. He then transferred to the University of South Florida, where he was an All-Sun Belt Conference player and a preseason All-American in 1987. He also played for the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League.
The Yankees drafted Eiland in the 7th round, #185 overall, of the 1987 draft. He rose quickly through the Yankee system, jumping from Low-A to A-ball in his debut season of 1987; he went a combined 9-3 with a 1.87 ERA and 0.960 WHIP in 91.2 innings.
The following year he started in Double-A, where he was an Eastern League All-Star after going 9-5 with a 2.56 ERA and 0.980 WHIP in 119.1 innings, and was promoted to Triple-A Columbus, where he made just one start before getting the call: The soon-to-be 37-year-old Ron Guidry pulled his hamstring and was going on the Disabled List. Eiland was called up to take his place in the rotation.
Eiland's debut on August 3, 1988, was against the Brewers in Milwaukee, and the first batter he faced was future Hall of Famer Paul Molitor. The third baseman welcomed the 22-year-old rookie to the Show by cranking a 1-2 slider to deep left-center for a home run.
"It was the first batter. It only counts for one run." -- Dave Eiland
Eiland settled down after that, allowing just two more hits and two walks in seven innings. But then Eiland's leg started cramping up -- in the sixth, manager Lou Piniella and trainer Gene Monahan went to the mound to check on him -- and he was pulled after the seventh inning. Closer Dave Righetti came in to get the final six outs in a game the Yankees were winning 5-1, and he was bombed for five runs on five hits while retiring just one batter, and the Yankees lost, 6-5.
Eiland made two more starts that year, but he lasted a total of just 5.2 innings while surrendering eight runs on 12 hits, two walks, and two hit batters. The big problem, as demonstrated by the very first batter he faced in the majors, was the long ball -- Eiland gave up five in those 5.2 innings!
The Yankees sent Eiland back down to Columbus after his start on August 17, and he spent the rest of the season down there. The following year he started in Triple-A again. The Yankees called him up in June and again he looked pretty good in his first start, holding the Texas Rangers to three runs over seven innings and getting his first major league win. But over the rest of the season he went 0-3 in five starts, with a 6.26 ERA and 1.683 WHIP in 27.1 innings (and giving up five home runs). Once again he rode the "Columbus Shuttle" and he spent the rest of the season in the minors, and began the 1990 season down there as well.
Eiland -- still just 23 years old -- dominated in Columbus that season, going 16-5 with a 2.87 ERA and 1.067 WHIP. He was named the International League Pitcher of the Year, and the Yankees made him a September call-up. He finally looked good enough in pinstripes -- 2-1, 3.56 ERA, 1.187 WHIP in 30.1 innings -- that he looked like he'd stick the next season.
He opened 1991 in the rotation, joining previously forgotten Yankee Tim Leary, Scott Sanderson, Chuck Cary, and Andy Hawkins... yikes. It was not a fun time to be a Yankee fan.
Eiland went 1-3 with a 4.75 ERA in nine starts before hurting his heel in May and going on the Disabled List. He came back in August, got two more starts -- giving up 11 runs in 8.2 innings -- and was put in the bullpen. (Eiland later said he came back before he'd fully recovered because he wanted to help the team.) He was given two starts at the end of the year, and looked pretty good -- in 12.0 innings, he gave up just three runs on nine hits and a walk.
But that winter, the Yankees made a series of roster moves, signing free agents Danny Tartabull and previously forgotten Yankees Mike Gallego and Mike Stanley; trading Steve Sax to the White Sox for Melido Perez, previously forgotten Yankee Bob Wickman, and Domingo Jean; and acquiring Charlie Hayes from the Phillies for Darrin Chapin. They needed to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. Eiland was designated for assignment, and he didn't like it.
"As far as I'm concerned, it was a stupid move on the part of the Yankees and I'm looking forward to leaving. I've done a lot more for them than some of the people they have kept. I guess I didn't fit into their plans. It doesn't make sense." -- Dave Eiland
He was promptly signed by the Padres, who put him at the end of their rotation for the upcoming 1992 season.
Eiland started the fifth game of the year against the Los Angeles Dodgers in San Diego. He allowed an RBI double to future Yankee Darryl Strawberry in the 1st inning, but future Yankee Gary Sheffield tied it up with an RBI triple in the bottom of the 1st. Eiland retired the side in order in the top of the 2nd.
In the bottom of the 2nd, a walk followed by two outs brought up Eiland with a man on second base. He was facing yet another future Yankee, Bob Ojeda, and drilled a 2-2 pitch to left-center for a two-run home run!
As Eiland had been in the American League his first four seasons -- no interleague play then -- he'd never come up as a batter before. And so he became the first player to allow a home run to the first batter he faced, and to hit a home run against the first pitcher he faced. It would be the only home run of his career.
"It was a fluke. I wish people would talk about my pitching instead of my hitting." -- Dave Eiland
Eiland pitched two seasons in San Diego, going 0-5 with a 5.38 ERA in 16 starts and one relief appearance. They released him the following May, and he signed with the Cleveland Indians. They sent him to Triple-A, where he made eight starts with the Charlotte Knights (1-3, 5.30 ERA) before being traded to the Texas Rangers, who kept him in Triple-A for the rest of the season (3-1, 4.54 ERA). A free agent after the season, he signed with the Yankees during spring training in 1994 and spent the next two seasons back in Columbus, going 9-6 with a 3.58 ERA in 1994 and 8-7 with a 3.14 ERA in 1995. The Yankees called him up on July 21 and he made one start and three relief appearances, going 1-1 with a 6.30 ERA in 10.0 innings.
He signed a minor league deal with the Cardinals for the 1996 season and pitched in eight games, going 0-1 with a 5.55 ERA in 24.1 innings, before getting released in June. Three days later he returned to the Yankees for a third stint, going 8-4 with a 2.92 ERA in Columbus in 15 starts. He was a September call-up for that magical 1996 season, but never got into a game.
Returning to the Yankees on a minor-league deal in 1997, the 30-year-old Eiland battled tendinitis and went 5-3 with a 6.42 ERA in 81.1 innings across three levels.
Eiland spent the next three years of his major league career in the Tampa Bay Devil Rays organization, splitting his time between the majors and minors as a swingman. He went 6-12 with a 6.54 ERA and 1.663 WHIP in 137.2 innings with the Devil Rays.
After the 2000 season, Eiland signed a minor league deal with the Oakland A's, but he tore his elbow and missed the entire season after getting Tommy John surgery. An attempted comeback in 2002 was ended when he retore the same ligament 51 weeks later. In those days, a second Tommy John surgery was thought to be a death sentence for a pitcher's elbow. Rather than attempting another comeback, he retired to become a pitching coach.
In interviews, Eiland -- with a career 12-27 record, with a 5.74 ERA and 1.563 WHIP -- said his major league struggles forced him to be a student of the game, and that would serve him well as a pitching coach.
“I didn’t have the God-given ability to get over the hump, so to speak. I kept getting chances because I did my work and I think that helps me in the coaching aspect. I work with guys now who have ability. I can teach them how to work, how to study film, how to read swings, how to attack guys.” -- Dave Eiland
He was a minor league pitching coach at various levels with the Yankees from 2003 to 2007, and was credited with helping the minor league development of the Yankees' trio of promising pitching prospects -- Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain, and Ian Kennedy.
After Joe Girardi replaced Joe Torre as Yankee manager in 2008, Eiland was named the team's pitching coach, a position he held for three seasons. He earned a ring as the pitching coach of the 2009 World Series champions.
Eiland's contract was not renewed after the 2010 season, with Brian Cashman giving the cryptic explanation: "He knows why. He was given conditions that needed to be followed. So he knows why." In June of that season, Eiland had taken a three-week leave of absence from the Yankees which was never explained beyond it being a family issue.
After the Yankees, Eiland worked in the Tampa Bay Rays' front office and then was a pitching coach for the Royals from 2012 to 2017 (winning a second World Series ring as a coach in 2015). He served as Mets pitching coach in 2018 and 2019, and Jacob deGrom, Zack Wheeler, and Steven Matz credited their improvement as pitchers to his guidance. In 2020 he managed the Eastern Reyes del Tigre in the independent Constellation Energy League. In 2021 he was a pitching coach in the independent Atlantic League, and in 2022 and 2023, a pitching coach for the Miami Marlins' Double-A team.
Eiland is now Head of Baseball for Grand Central Sports Management.
Eiland Living
"It's about perseverance. Hard work pays off. Maybe not right away, maybe not overnight. But eventually, it does." -- Dave Eiland
Ten seasons in the Show means a lot to ballplayers. Ten seasons means you're fully vested in the pension plan. It also means you are eligible to appear on the Hall of Fame ballot (though the Baseball Writers' Association of America doesn't have to put you on the ballot, and they didn't put Eiland on it). Dave Eiland, a pitcher who described himself as someone who "worked really hard to be mediocre," worked hard enough to last 10 seasons in the majors, and that's pretty impressive.
He's also the answer to a cool trivia question and was in a pretty good baseball movie.
Definitely a Yankee worth remembering!

🔗Burnt Orange Yeti Tundra 45 Cooler: Unmatched Insulation & Durability

https://preview.redd.it/vvh0emspzx2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f704349f6c4e958f5b6dfa3d0efb85a25cc8ce13
Imagine a scenario where you're camping deep in a wilderness, surrounded by adventure and beauty. The sun beats down on your campsite, the temperature soars, and inside your cooler is ice-cold refreshments waiting to quench your thirst. But will the cooler hold up to the heat?
The Tundra 45 Cooler King Crab Orange, with its extra-thick walls, offers unmatched temperature retention. Like a fortress, its pressure-injected polyurethane foam in the walls and lid locks in that just-packed temp, making it armored to the core and almost invulnerable. Say goodbye to warm, soggy drinks!
But not everything is perfect. The YETI Tundra 45 Cooler, while sturdy, is not the lightest option available, which could be a drawback if you're doing short trips or need to travel long distances. The double-haul and lip grip handles make traveling a breeze but the weight might pose a challenge.
Despite the minor issues, the YETI Tundra 45 Cooler King Crab Orange with its orange exterior is a true companion for your adventures, ensuring your drinks remain chilled, no matter the situation.

🔗Thinner, Lighter Yeti Hard Cooler in Light Pink

During a recent outdoor trip, I was introduced to the YETI Roadie 24 Hard Cooler, Bimini Pink, and it exceeded all my expectations. This cooler is perfect for my adventures, with its tough rotomolded construction and advanced permafrost insulation that keeps ice frozen for days, even on blistering hot days.
One of the most impressive features of this cooler is its neverfail hinge system, which ensures durability and prevents snapping or breaking. The quicklatch feature allows for effortless one-handed access to the contents, while the heftyhauler handle makes for comfortable carrying and easy hauling. Plus, the cooler is designed to fit most standard wine bottles and two-liter soda bottles, making it perfect for carrying your favorite refreshments on the go.
The light pink Bimini color of the cooler is sophisticated and eye-catching, adding a stylish touch to any outdoor adventure. Overall, the YETI Roadie 24 Hard Cooler has proven to be a reliable and indispensable companion on my journeys, offering unparalleled convenience and reliability.

🔗Yeti Tundra 45 Cooler in Coral - Durable and Insulated

https://preview.redd.it/z5t7vksqzx2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f2a46089f9950232811e30dc0d0cea0957a30de0
My daily life has been forever changed since I received this incredible YETI Coral cooler. This is no ordinary cooler, this is a beast engineered to tackle any adventurous outing with unparalleled durability and ice retention. The Tundra 45 is like armored personnel carrier made for hauling ice and beverages, and it does so with aplomb.
The most remarkable feature to me is the unmatched ice retention that this cooler provides. The extra-thick walls are infused with PermaFrost Insulation, which makes it virtually indestructible. It can withstand anything the great outdoors might throw its way, from searing sun to rough handling. But it's not all brute strength; it's designed for practical use too. The cooler fits comfortably in the back of a vehicle and comes with detachable rope handles that are perfect for strapping onto your gear or tying down in the car.
Of course, no product is perfect, and YETI Tundra 45 had a couple of hiccups too. First, the weight; it's a heavy load to carry by yourself. It requires some muscle to lift, so you might want to think twice with it if you're planning a solo trip. Secondly, its compact size may make it too small for some camping expeditions, but it's perfect for a weekend getaway.
In conclusion, the YETI Coral cooler is worth every penny for the rugged durability, insulation, and thoughtful features. It's become an invaluable part of my outdoor excursions, whether it's a day-long fishing trip or a multi-day camping adventure. It's a piece of YETI toughness that can handle whatever Mother Nature throws at it while keeping your drinks and ice cold.

🔗Yeti 20 oz Rambler Tumbler with MagSlider Lid - Coral

https://preview.redd.it/bkiab5xqzx2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=416cc51812a5400d2a46cfcb405d37834e3d05df
I recently had the chance to try the Yeti 20 oz Rambler Tumbler, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer for my daily routine. The moment I held this stainless steel on-the-go cup, I knew it was something special. Its durability is unmatched - I could probably drop it off a cliff and it would still be intact (okay, maybe not that extreme, but you get the point).
One of the standout features of this tumbler is its ability to keep my drinks at the perfect temperature. Whether it's a steaming hot cup of coffee or an ice-cold beverage on a scorching summer day, this Yeti tumbler never disappoints. The double-wall vacuum insulation does the trick, ensuring my drinks stay just as I like them for hours on end.
However, there is one aspect that could use some improvement. The tumbler can be a bit slippery, especially for those with smaller hands like myself. A bit of texture on the exterior would make all the difference in preventing any accidental drops.
Another minor issue is the lid, which can sometimes become loose after a few uses. When this happens, it can cause my drink to spill out, leaving a mess on my shirt. However, I've found that a quick adjustment usually solves the problem.
Despite these minor setbacks, the Yeti 20 oz Rambler Tumbler has become an essential part of my daily life. Its stylish design and impressive performance make it well worth the investment, and I can confidently say it's the best tumbler I've ever owned. With its ability to keep my drinks at the right temperature and its sleek, modern look, I can't help but highly recommend this tumbler to anyone in the market for an on-the-go cup solution.

🔗Yeti Coral Hopper Flip 12 Cooler

https://preview.redd.it/fll6c1brzx2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2e7fa34c8b8576b53965dd89cc60a6bf0ca4c1ae
The Yeti Hopper Flip 12 Soft Cooler has been my trusty companion on various adventures, keeping my food and drinks cold and crisp. The wide-mouth opening makes it convenient for loading and accessing my items, while its compact, cubed body offers ultimate portability. I've used it for kayaking, hiking, and even taking it on a transatlantic flight to transport medication.
The insulation technology keeps ice frozen for an impressively long time, ensuring my beverages stay cold and my food remains safe. However, I've found the zipper to be a bit challenging to operate smoothly. Despite this, the Yeti Hopper Flip 12 has proven to be a reliable and versatile cooler that fits perfectly in my outdoor lifestyle.

🔗Yeti Tundra 45 Colorful Cooler with Rotomolded Construction

https://preview.redd.it/onisdqqrzx2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa46c3a3f72374edae5e743dbb2a8da48b40638a
The Yeti Tundra 45 Cosmic Lilac was my go-to cooler during a recent camping trip. Its durable rotomolded construction made me feel like the cooler could handle anything I threw at it, and the PermaFrost insulation kept my ice cubes frozen for days. The No Sweat design kept the outside of the cooler from getting damp, and the Bearfoot non-slip feet kept it securely in place.
However, one thing I found was that the cooler was quite heavy, especially when full of ice and food. But despite that, I was really impressed with the quality and efficiency of the Yeti Tundra 45 Cosmic Lilac.
It made my camping experience much easier and more enjoyable.

2024.05.27 10:39 gr3iau Temporary solar build antenna question

Hi!
I'm in the process of building a solar node based on the wisblock using the ideas from The Comms Channel's recent guide.
My plan is to be able to permanently attach this node to the top of my camping trailer with no antenna attached, and once I've set up camp attach a magnetic based antenna to act as a base node for the camp site.
I'm aware you should not operate the device without an antenna attached because of the risk of burning out the radio.
What I have realised however, is that this device will be solar powered with battery backup, and no easy way of powering off the machine. This would mean that I basically have to take the entire node apart each time I want to remove the antenna, and that's really not feasible for my use case.
I see in the Meshtastic app there is a slider for Radio Configuratin > LoRa > TX enabled If I connect to the device by Bluetooth and disable this setting (ie. TX disabled), do you know if I am then safe to remove the antenna until I have reconnected it at a later time? If not, is there another setting that I can enable via the Meshtastic software that would essentially disable the LoRa radio completely, allowing me to safely remove the antenna with the device still powered up?
Thanks heaps for your help, I can't wait to get this system up and running and give it all a test!

2024.05.27 07:51 capitan_raviolii Pc fan help :)

Hi there!
I got some very nice pc fans for super cheap at my local thrift store, so I'm planning on making a little laptop cooling thing! However I'm no pc builder and I need help figuring out how I'm gonna make these work.
1: Power I plan on using a cheap 3 pin to wall adapter with a slider so I can modulate speed. However there are 2 sets of cables running from the fans and I'm not sure if I need 2 power supplies, or if one is just if your pc can't take the other.
2: Asus Aura They came with Asus Aura compatibility and id like to take advantage of that. But seeing as their outside of a pc I'm not sure if that's a thing that I can actually do.
Anyways thanks for taking the time to read this and have a lovely day!

2024.05.27 04:19 PeerlessOG Engravings Calculator Updated

Engravings Calculator Updated
Hey, its me again who brought you Raid Information and Gold Calculator. So I've been building a new tool called an Engraving Calculator with a different design pattern than what I've seen online it's mobile, tablet and desktop friendly for all those users out there, to calculate your total number of engravings. I do plan on adding all engraving images as well eventually.
I hope you enjoy this version as much as I do.
How to Use: You select your Preset from the Top. By default this is Default and you can add new presets. You can delete any preset besides the default preset that you add
Then you select the engravings you want in your build. Then you select the engravings from the options and set it up to use it accordingly. If you're unhappy with an engraving you can clear that engraving only by pressing the delete. Otherwise you can delete all data by clicking the bigger trash can.
Let me know what you think. I used this approach since my thought process has always been Books first then going accessory by accessory rather than picking an engraving. I added a slider since you can select an option right away on mobile and once you get used to it vs doing 2 clicks with a dropdown which is twice as much work.
Open to feedback and suggestions let me know what you think. Enjoy!

Edit 8:30pm PST: Added a Grid as well since people preferred using a grid :)

2024.05.26 21:43 Naylor07 Looking to extend covered patio. Need ideas

Hello,
We are looking at having a contractor extend our covered patio. Looking to cover the entire area from the hot tub to the current covered portion but come out further. We would like to keep the ceiling fairly high but was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the best way to integrate a new covered part in with the current roof line and covered patio.
We also plan to see about taking the squarish window out for a slider of some form. Here is what our patio current looks like!

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated so we can discuss it with our contractor!

2024.05.26 03:27 Nutbrowndog Idaho Murders--BK Entered the Residence Via the 3rd Floor & Planned to Exit That Way Too, Except It All Went Wrong).

(Edited to "accused" instead of the name of the "killer", to correct the initials of one of the victims (XK instead of XG) and to reflect that one of the 3rd floor rooms was not empty of furniture, as I had originally posted. Thanks to everyone who corrected my errors.)
Sorry if this theory has been put forth--if so please ignore. But what if the accused tried the "safest" crime possible by entering the 3rd story balcony, believing his intended victim was alone up there? He planned to leave that way--virtually undetected on his way in and out. It just all went horribly wrong. This makes the most sense to me and explains so much.
  1. Accused was a criminology student. He was thinking about how to commit the "perfect crime." One victim. Easy in and out. But thrilling enough because there are other people in the house.
  2. He likely did a trial run. His intended victim was MM. She would be alone on the 3rd floor. He was a stalker. He was likely stalking MM and her roommates both in person and online. He likely knew her top floor roommate had recently moved out.
  3. He didn't count on KG sleeping over. KG was in MM's bed, The accused could have known KG's room was empty and he could break in that way (where the 3rd floor slider was--in KG's old room) and enter undetected. He could have staged it to be unlocked ahead of time--or maybe it was never locked.
  4. What if he didn't count on KG's dog? Likely, KG put her dog in her old room, since it was found in there. The dog was probably comfortable and familiar there.
  5. The dog barked when BK entered. The second floor roommate heard someone upstairs "playing with the dog." This could have woken up more than the downstairs roommate. KG was heard saying, "someone is here." The dog barking was an alert.
  6. About this time, XK had received her Door Dash and returned her trash to the kitchen. (Wasn't there some photo where the Door Dash trash is seen in the kitchen?) XK could have heard the commotion and gone upstairs or part way up to see what the commotion was. She may have encountered the killer. The downstairs roommate hears a man say, "It's ok. I'm here to help you." It makes sense for the accused to be trying to explain his presence to XK if she encounters him on or near the stairs. And more sense for the second floor roommate to hear this being said close to her door, since XK's room is many rooms away from the roommate who was an ear witness.
  7. The accused, who had never intended to come downstairs at all, now has to kill XK and additionally encounters EC ( since XK, having a head start, runs to her room.)
  8. He leaves via the second floor, straying from his original plan, because now he needs to get out quickly--and it's the closest and easiest exit. But he never intended it to all be so complicated and makes more sense as to why this seemingly "educated" criminology student made so many mistakes. He didn't understand or account for the unpredictability of college kids coming and going and ordering food at all hours of the night.
Let me know what you all think. I know there is no evidence he entered via the 3rd floor but from pictures it looks pretty easy for a tall, strong guy with evil intentions.
Also note: The Golden State killer always came prepared with dog repellent. There is even speculation from investigator Paul Holes, that the Golden State Killer stalked his victims, entered their homes in trial runs, and groomed his victims' dogs to be afraid of him by spraying them multiple times ahead of his crimes. Many of the Golden State Killer's victim's had dogs, but they never barked. Perhaps the accused came prepared with dog repellent just in case--explaining why the dog barked initially but then remained compliant afterwards. I'd like to know if the dog was checked for repellent, if the top floor slider was left unlocked.

2024.05.25 23:13 kgusev Help pick plywood thickness for kitchen drawers

Our kitchen went through a facelift before we bought the house few years ago with newer shaker doors and stone. Unfortunately that was it and internals are super outdated and gross( I spare you off watching pictures). No sliders. So I’m planning to redone drawers and add undermount sliders. Wondering what thickness of plywood should I hold with? The ones that we have now built 1/2” sides, 1/4” bottom and somehow with 3/4” fronts. Most of drawers in 15-19 width range, except couple that 27” wide. Would be 1/2” good choice for everything? Thanks! Also ( novice question): the width I mentioned is actual measurement. Does plywood thickness and dims match these days or its the same story as linear lumber where 2x4 is not 2” by 4”? Thanks!

2024.05.25 17:56 Veraksodk Azure SQL using all DTU

Azure SQL using all DTU
I have an Azure SQL DB running standard (Budget friendly) currently with 400 DTUs. Quite often it peaked and max out at the 400 DTUs.
I blankly admit, that I don’t quite grasp the concept of DTUs, I am more legacy kind of core and RAM kind of guy.
But was is my option from here?
I can push the slider up to the next level, which is 800 DTUs (and the double the costs). But there is also other options to choose from, but I can’t quite figure out, if there is a benefit to another plan (eg vCore).
Any suggestions?

2024.05.25 17:26 Hot_Blooded_ High Trail Conversion?

I currently have a TRX4m Defender, but the addiction is real and I bought a slider TRX4m on eBay. My plan is to do a Ford high trail build with it. My question: is there a way to convert the base TRX4 chassis to the correct wheelbase so the Ford HT body will fit.

2024.05.25 14:45 Your_Average_Neet EK remote doesn't turn on or charge

I would like to start this post by stating, that I got my cintiq 27 QHD touch with the EKremote included, used. The Cintiq itself works perfectly with no problems but the EKremote doesn't turn on or charge. I already tried popping the back off and pressing the reset button but that didn't work. I tried holding the on/off slider at the bottom, but that didn't work either. I currently have it plugged into a USD to charge, but there are no lights to indicate if it's charging or not. Because I got the Cintiq used, there's a chance that the remote just came in not working, which is fine cuz I was planning on buying a good ol tourbox anyways~ But it would be nice to get this thing to work if I can.
EDIT: I have the dongle, and the remote shows up on the wacom properties. It's just not turning on or charging, the LED won't light up at all and it doesn't work when I try to use it.
