I'm applying for a lot of jobs lately. Probably not knocking th le right doors. Or my resume just sucks. I only got my prior and current jobs as a result of a direct human interaction as opposed to sending a resume, so this is pretty new for me. Any word of advice would be appreciated.

Right now I'm struggling a bit financially and am behind on bills. I need to catch up because I want to start a new chapter in my life, get caught up and go back to school and try to start a career I enjoy. Any little bit will help but I'm a few thousand behind. Hi, I'm 17 years old and recently I've started applying for jobs anywhere I'm qualified for. I live in Washington DC and i have been looking for part-time work as I'm still in High School. I've done over 150 applications within the past month on indeed, most of the employers have ghosted me. I've applied for most fast food chains, retail stores, and grocery stores on their direct job sites and these employers have also never responded back to me. I've only been selected to go to 4 interviews and 3 of them never responded back to me. I know that's how it usually goes at the beginning. My job searching is limited as i have zero work experience, i haven't done any volunteer work either. During the summer i was enrolled in a program with peers my age, but that was something i would not consider work. I really want to get a job so i can have my own money and become financially independent. So my question is is there anthing i can do to speed up the process of getting hired? Am I missing any steps? Any advice? Also my resume is down below. Thank you.

I'm looking for an alternative to Gmail as my main email provider because I just can't get on with it (I have a love/hate relationship with it atm even though I first had a gmail account back in 2005/06).

It's not really the privacy aspect I'm so bothered about, more the UI I don't get along with. I'm only using my email for messages for my kid(s) schools, appointment reminders, household bills and newsletters/social media etc. I have a proton Free account for the more sensitive stuff (I like to keep 2-3 accounts to keep things separate). I'm not Techie enough to host my own server, nor would I want to tbh. I'm old school, first introduced to the internet in the days of AOL and Lycos (anyone remember those? - my first account was Lycos in the early 90's, then I was with AOL for years) A desktop client doesn't really work as I need to access my emails on different computers/devices (I used to use Thunderbird), and they don't work on some of the devices I use. I don't currently own any apple tech so can't create an Icloud account (Should never have deleted the one I used to have years ago)

Ideally I would like IMAP/POP access and a decent SPAM filter. I prefer folders to labels (Old School lol). The ability to have a couple of different useaccount names on the one account would be an advantage. If there's an easy way to import messages from other accounts, that would be an advantage (That's what puts me off Tutamail). Ideally I need a free or nearly free service. Any suggestions to try? What are your favourites?

Currently I have an Android Phone, use a Windows 11 desktop and laptop and I also use a Chromebook laptop regularly (I know I need to keep a Google account for this, but it doesn't necessarily need to be my main email provider, if I can find something better I will just forward the Gmail messages to my new account) if that has any impact on your suggestions. Ideally I need to get my email to synchronize between all of them.

EDIT: I also use simplelogin aliases for a lot of my online accounts so it makes it relatively easy to switch accounts, it's just importing in older messages that could be an issue.

So far i've found:
Yahoo is ok, but sometimes messages go missing (which is annoying) - I know they have also had some serious security breaches in the past.
AOL is pretty much Yahoo these days (I still have a very old account lol).
Hotmail/Outlook - Like the UI but the SPAM filters are ridiculous and account takeover is way too easy for my liking. I've also heard it's got serious security flaws.
Tutamail - Ok, but no way to import in old messages.
Protonmail - I have an account for private stuff, but want a separate account for social media/newsletters etc - also no IMAP/POP without paying for it.
Icloud - doesn't work well unless you are invested in Apple's ecosystem. It's out of my budget atm.
Any I'm missing? What do you use?

Hi Reddit! My grandpa died 5 years ago due to old age, and with that, my grandma has expanded her "dating space." The problem is, they are all scams. We live in the Philippines. Some people here usually try to date a foreigner (AFAM, as we call it) because of money, clout, etc. Some of the people here have spouses or partners who are from the United States. Now, ordinarily, there is nothing wrong with that, but the issue is that the suitors she met online turned out to be scam artists. This happened when the pandemic started, when everyone was on their phones doomscrolling, and my grandma scrolled a lot until she stumbled upon Facebook dating. Ever since she discovered the app, she hasn't stopped. For example, when I was trying to sleep, she couldn't stop talking to her "lover" on her phone with her broken English (probably due to timezones). Even using my laptop (which I use for school) when she wanted to chat with them (yes, they are multiple)... She even had the guts to show our house to her talkmate via video call on WhatsApp. All her suitors have a similar story: either they are a seaman, a firefighter, a doctor, or do any blue- or white-collar job, but even though they have those highly paid jobs, they still ask for some money. I mean, it's her choice to spend her money on whatever she wants since it's her hard-earned money, but knowing that she gives out money for people to deceive her more is heartbreaking as a granddaughter. I don't know, and I don't want to know, how much she spends on her dating scams, since I don't want to be a total snoop. These scams also talk you out into giving your information to them and can possibly hack you with this. There are a lot of times where my grandmother will come to me and tell me about another problem in her phone; it's either her pictures got deleted, her Facebook account is signed out, her Gmail account is signed out, or another ad pops up in her phone. But there is a story that truly broke my heart, and it solidifies my hatred of scams... and love in general. I was the "tech savvy" in our family. During my study session, my grandma called me to go downstairs and write an email for her. It was a letter of paid leave in order for her lover to leave the country and visit my grandma in the Philippines. She was even requesting how much the pay is and how she will send the money, whatever she can, just to help her lover out. In those words, she let me type... "As his soon-to-be wife or his fiance." As I was typing that, it broke me. She has this on-going relationship, and she didn't tell anyone in the family? Has she betrayed her longtime marriage? I was typing it out. I looked at the email, and it is a Hotmail account. From the United Nations. I thought to myself, "An official multi-country organization, using hotmail?". She said to keep it a secret from my parents or anyone else. But I can't help it. I told my mother about this, and she fully agreed with my grandma. This is like how our conversation went: ME: "Ma, I can't help it; if she is falling for those scams, it might cause a domino effect. Next thing you know, we are out of money because of these scams." MOM: "Well, she can't help it either; she is at her old age. If that's her hobby, then go for it, as long as she isn't hurting you." ME: "I know, but there are a lot of Facebook groups for her that are suitable for her. Let her have zumba classes, let her join a baking class, let her join anything! As long as it doesn't keep her in danger." MOM: "She is at the house all day; she is bored; at this age, she is just enjoying life." ME: "You can enjoy life without giving money to other people!" Yadda, yadda, yadda, or something along those lines. It came to the point where she had to go to the airport via taxi (the airport is not near where we live) and wait for her lover to come to the Philippines. Morning to midnight. She waited for her prince to arrive, but it was midnight, and he hadn't arrived. My aunt just told us that she arrived at 3 a.m. that night. Hearing this, my father had enough of it, so he held a "family meeting" with me, my grandma, auntie, and my mother. Everyone knew that she had a "lover" from across the States, but she still continues to deny it. We just advise her to stop it, deleting all contact with them. A few months have passed, and she is at it again. It was during my study session again, and she called out my name, telling me that her WhatsApp data was gone. Even my father is stunned that she uses WhatsApp, as the majority messaging app we use is Messenger. Back to the story: I tried my best to fix the issue, but nothing. I talked to my mother about this, and it's just like the conversation we had last time. "She's too old; let her live!" I want to educate her about this because I love her and I want her to be protected. But considering the norms of the Philippines, if I even try to teach her something, it is considered disrespectful because the elderly are wise or some bullcrap. I can't accept the fact that she has fallen for this again. I want her to have fun while she's safe from anyone. So, here's where I need your help, Reddit. Should I confront her about it directly? I worry that she'll just brush off my concerns or, worse, get defensive and shut me out. But at the same time, I can't stand there and ignore her and continue to be taken advantage of. What advice can you give me? Any insight or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!
TL;DR: Grandma's been repeatedly scammed in online "relationships" since Grandpa passed away. Despite warnings, she doesn't care, even planning for a scammer to visit from overseas. The family's attempts to intervene met with resistance.

As mentioned above. But not cancelled for teachers. Here the totality begins at 3:14 and ends at 3:16, roughly. My school district thought it would be important enough to the students to let them go for the day do they could experience the event of a lifetime!

So good. Day canceled. Teachers being given alternate work for the day but at my school the principal scheduled an end of day staff meeting from 2:30 to 3:30 in the library. I mean, that's petty, vindictive, and spiteful. On all levels of management, right on up to the director of education for our district. Back in September I had an inkling of this. I scheduled a personal day for the 8th, nine months in advance. While I'm sitting under a (hopefully clear, blue) sky watching the sun getting eclipsed, my poor colleagues will be stuck inside a windowless school library being bullied about the usual shit we could be doing better.
Teacher antiworkers, I urge you to call in sick tomorrow. And send anonymous critical mail from hotmail addresses to your directors of education and admin teams.

I am looking for a software role & graduate in August. I am considering getting my network + cert or even my CCNA cert (Cisco Certified Network Associate) & move into a different field. I’d like to have a job when I graduate & it seems like that may not be plausible as of right now.
I am a full-time employee & full time student. Should I include my current & passed work experiences or mainly list my software experience?

I have had my same Hotmail account since I was a kid. Everything is linked to it (my current thesis research work included!). I have been locked out due to suspicious activity.
I had two options, verity my account by using my secondary email linked to the account or else fill out the regain/verify form.
Unfortunately because my email is SO old, my back up email linked to the account was my old high schools email, which now no longer exists, so I had to take the 2nd option.
Here comes the tricky part. I grew up in Ireland and Scotland, spent 50% of my time in either country. The security questions are Where was this account set up (I can’t remember if 11 year old me picked Ireland or U.K.)
The other security question is name of childhood best friend. I know the answer to this. However it is an Irish name, so I’m not sure if I spelt her name the English way, or the Irish way with the special markings on the letters (eg. á)
Anyways, I have tried all options and they won’t work. And of course my account has now been Blocked.
I really need to tag in this email address. I can’t find a way to contact Microsoft, can’t find any phone number to call or an online chat line.
To make matters worse I currently study abroad in Hungary, and there isn’t any Microsoft place I can go to for help.
Please please please if anyone could help me o would really appreciate it. I have been working on my thesis for my veterinary medicine degree, years of work is gathered there, and it’s not an option to lose it, I really need it back 😭😭 I need to graduate 😭

I have an 11 years old Hotmail account which is now an email provider for Microsoft . I rarely log in to it as I have another main email I use. However, I had a lot of other accounts linked to it such as Paypal and Facebook.
I also had very personal information such as photos of me, fam, and documents, addresses, phone numbers, cc account info, SSN, etc that I was unaware I still had under the "sent" folder. These were sent years ago during my job and school application era.
Long story short, my email was compromised. They were able to access my Pay pal, FB, Xoom among other stuff. They opened up Xbox account, Instagram, Temu, Etsy, Tinder, Enterprise Games, etc. Completed PP and Xoom transactions, linked several devices and apps to my Microsoft account. They also sent maybe hundred of random emails out some in different languages, and emails to my email itself where my password (the one they were able to crack) was listed. They mention my devices are all compromised and that they have all my data and of course threatening me unless I send money. I immediately changed passwords, contacted PP and my bank, locked my SSN, unlinked all devices (including mines), unlinked email to all my accounts. Unfortunately, I lost my Facebook account, the person or group of hackers were able to get complete access of my FB by changing it to a random email- hard to get a hold of FB but that's a whole different story.
My 2 FA is up and I still get lock out of my account everyday because of multiple failed login attempts. I also get notifications from my Authenticator App sometimes minutes apart to approve sign-in, meaning someone has my PW and just needs approval from a 2nd device to access it. All these attempts are random around the world. My PW are complex and very long. Now I am paranoid that I have a key logger in both my phone and laptop. Currently using my work computer.
I plan to delete this email soon but need to save all my pictures but am paranoid they have malware if I download them or send them to another of my emails.
I have taken all necessary steps to protect my accounts but been pretty much screw at this point.
What else should I do?
