Hey and good afternoon y'all. I have a question about buying a handheld and what best to go with.
Some context: I work as a flight attendant and so am constantly on the go, not only that but I recently moved out of my country (USA) to live abroad for a while. Before I moved when I wanted to game I would always take my PS5 with me along with a portable monitor on my 3 day work trips to get gaming in sometimes on layovers and overnights in places where I didn't want to step out and spend money. It is bulky and heavy, but I was dedicated in large part to play games with my younger brothers still. However fast forward to today, and I am not wanting to bring that set up with me in and out of the country during my monthly commute, I am leaving my PS5 back where I now live. I had at first thought to get another PS5 to keep in the USA at my crashpad (it's like a dorm for flight attendants) for work, but realized how much more sense it would make to get a handheld instead.
The Steam Deck is very tempting, but some games I play with my younger brothers require windows, and I don't feel like having to partition or get it running on the side on the steam deck. And I also have lots of free games waiting for me on the Epic Games store (I know it sucks but at least there are games ready for me to play lol).
So I decided to get a Rog Ally X (pre-order) or Lenovo Legion GO. I wanted some advice for anyone who has experience with either of these. Being real I would like to play at a higher resolution (ideally 1080p) at 30FPS. Obviously I would really like 60, but I don't care about it as much playing on such a small screen in comparison to a monitor or TV. My wonder is if either of those handhelds would be up to the task of playing newer, more recent (and upcoming) games at 30 fps, 1080p? I understand battery life is an issue at that resolution, but I carry a decent power bank with me anyhow. I also wonder which of the two would hook up and work best docked to a TV or monitor if I decide to buy one also when I really want to settle in with it.
If either of them are not viable at that resolution/frame rate, do the games look decent at lower resolutions?? I know there are more expensive PC handleds past this tier of handhelds/those two specifically, but budget wise I would prefer to just keep it at around 800+tax max.

I know it's a little early, but I wanted to make a plan.
I have a big dog that hates fireworks, elsewhere if they were distant enough, he'd pace and settle once I turn up the TV and cuddle with him. Looking at past posts on firework activity around the week of the 4th. It seems like even though it's illegal, people still like to go pretty nuts on the edges of the city limits.
Can't find much on firework behavior close to downtown/uptown. Do people set them off so close in? Can you easily hear the fireworks from the outskirts in uptown?
Just trying to figure out if I can just turn up the TV volume in the basement, vs sedate, or do I need to book a place in the remote Olympic Peninsula that week? lol

I have an unknown antenna in my attic that was here when I bought the house and I've used it for years through an HDHomeRun Connect Duo and my Plex server.
Previously it's been fantastic for the few times a year I care to watch live local TV and it's still pretty great for most stations. However, for some reason ABC is just awful now and since that's the one station I want to watch for North American F1 races, this is quite frustrating lol.
I checked rabbitears.info to see if maybe the antenna needed to be adjusted but it was pointing pretty much exactly where rabbitears says it should be.
I did make a slight adjustment and then re-scanned through the HDHomerun interface as well as through Plex interface but ABC continues to be unwatchable.
Is there a way to boost the antenna or otherwise get a better signal with this setup?

i watched every episode twice bc i would go back and watch the side+ eps when they leaked after the yt eps lol. i want to say if you bought side+ for inside you got fucked. not only did they post all the content from side+ to youtube for free…. its literally maybe 15min of extra content per ep…… and not even anything interesting just elongated convos that you mostly already saw on yt. and there was no episode or anything yesterday i thought side+ would get exclusive unseen bits or something but nope !
the show itself i thought was actually pretty good for a knock off locked in to be fair. i do agree with everyone that it was rushed especially now knowing they filmed it two weeks ago meaning they had to crunch an edit 150+ of content. all the spoilers and mishaps make alot more sense. the challenges were pretty boring i cant lie none of them even stood out to me to even name them rn.
people hate the voting system but i think it worked perfectly. having them vote for each other causes more tension and is more natural than audience vote which would have just been a popularity contest and whoever the audience didnt like atm would get voted. i like it much better that the people who actually have a chance of getting the money decide who gets the money.
As for the contestants i think this was an AMAZING group together they genuinely saved the show. even though ppl are complaining abt basically everyone thats the whole point of reality tv.. the contestants and their personalities CARRIED. some more than others but everyone had their role in the house. ALSO the spending was the whole point was to spend money so icba to care if they spent 2£ or the whole mil .
leah - never heard of her before this. she went out second so not many opinions on her. she was very sweet and it was cute that she didnt want to spend the money but u had to know she was going to go out bc she (and nife i think) were constantly bringing up the money that ppl were spending. but very cute and determined.
joe weller- i know about him through sidemen but never been into his content. i actually didnt mind joe at all. i thought he was very wholesome and fun.i wish he was there longer to show more of his personality. his only mishap was when he decided to cause a scene instead of addressing manrika head on. i knew when he was yelling in room 19 after walking out of the room full of the whole cast wo saying anything to go talk shit he was gone. and everyone was on manrikas side (except castillo) even though they didnt want to say it. you can tell by the streams and things theyve said after the fact reacting to it. and i believe castillo was right no one liked him after that and the whole fanum beach ball debacle. and i believe he he was trying to play money manager as well.
castillo brev - never heard of him before either. THE MAIN VILLAIN every good show needs a villain and he was on that since day one i knew i was gonna like him. i was lowkey rooting for him. the only reason ppl didnt like him was bc he spent money ?? like what brev … everyone spent except nife and leah. SPAMGATE was OD and we all know he was lying about it being the spam bc before the spam even happened he said he was going to run the money up so im pretty sure he used that so he wouldnt seem like a piss baby for crashing out about the voting. (also side+ should have shown more of this) but idgaf cuz im here for entertainment and i was entertained. it was so awkward when he was fussing with the girls afterwards but everyone was doing way too much.
liv - never heard of her either. but i think she was a nice addition sort of like a spending leah bc they were both very calm not very trying to farm content type of personality which i can appreciate. she was there to spread her brand n have fun. the 40k sweets i have no clue wtf she was trying to do there at all? i guess she was trying to frame specs and then it sort of came back on castillo bc of spamgate but whatever. i think she fit in more w the girls but her and specs had some good convos too.
fanum - i watch amp/ fanum so i was hella shocked and excited when i saw him pop out . as an American who reg watches uk youtubers watching fanum try and figure out the slang is so funny. he started spamgate and almost crashed out as well. he handled it cool though i thought he was gonna be on some amp firework war type shit but unfortunately not. dysongate was lowk op nobody suspected a thing and when they found out everyone was like its you so we dont care LOL. i didnt want him to win nor did i think he would bc he has enough money nb was gonna let him have that tbh. he was top 3 in entertainment fr. i need a video w him ginge and specs ASAP! also specs n ginge in an amp video would go crazy!
ginge - i know ginge from locked in and danny aarons i dont really watch his content but after this i definitely will. him and specs are the two mvps of this season. i was genuinely mad he left for the the fa cup but at least YANITED won so it meant something. he was actually a-lot more chill than i thought he would be on inside. when he tried to call down the spamgate fights and everything i had to give props. he was was such a big instigator and nobody ever caught on to that LOL.
specs - ik of specs from the chunkz and filly podcast ep i think? i may have seen him featured in some others as well. actually the funniest guy. when i finished watching the eps and saw ppl were calling him a creep bc hes old i was like wtf?? saying he was “unnecessarily” touching on the “young” (literally pushing THIRTY btw) girls and implying that they cant speak up for themselves when they ALL went off on ppl and addressed multiple issues in that house is crazy. and you can literally see each one of them GO TO SPECS and initiate contact n convos.also ppl mention the comment to chloe abt sex but they literally know eachother from outside of the house, i seen a clip of them on her pod when hes talking abt her flat ass like come on. ik it was bullshit bc they never brought up how him and ginge constantly touched or him and EVERYONE just the girls who literally say they love him and theyre so close every five seconds. i was upset he got eliminated at the end but the games a game .
nife - never heard of her as well. basically another money manager but she was more chill abt it after she seen that it got leah voted out. a very good mediator for the group as well. her and fanums thing i didnt really see it tbh its like she said i dont think shes fanums type as well but it was fun to watch everyone try and get them tgt. i think by the end everyone knew it was going to be her and castillo out.
chloe - ive heard of chloe but never watched any of her content. she was pretty entertaining i cant lie im pretty sure she was tipsy from the moment they but alcohol in the shop. like she ALWAYS had a glass of something. watching her get so mad during spamgate had me dead. i think it annoyed some ppl but honestly they shouldve REALLY fucked up his bed like opened the spam fr instead of all that arguing but thats just my messy ass tho ! I DIDNT expect to see her in the finale at all but watching specs then fanum go out i was like well it has to be chloe and rika bc i never thought that liv was gonna make it. i definitely thought she was going to steal from manrika at the end there though .
manrika - never heard of her. one thing about me is i always root for the villian of the show. so when i saw that everyone was hating on her for a joke that had already been discussed and squashed it was between her and castillo on the win for me. her whole thing w castillo calling her an ass lick makes sense bc she told joe shed rather he just tell her right then and there he had a problem rather than wait . thats why she asked him right there what he meant. i think she went od to KEEP on asking thats when i was like girl let it go please. other than that i really enjoyed her antics and was so glad when she won w chloe.
tldr: i liked inside even though it was rushed. challenges were lame and i liked all the contestants.

I know I am not the only one. I just don't really know what to do about it.
Recently diagnosed. 7 years ago I hit a wall and couldn't bear being around people, and was actually thriving by myself. Traveling, going to restaurants, parks, week ends getaway, cinema, walks... I really liked my new found love for my personal and alone time (don't get me wrong, mental health was quite still awful tho).
I got quite sick three years ago, and became isolated even more. Too much. I couldn't hang out with people, I was barely making it through work. Now i'm getting a lot better, and I'm CRAVING a community.
I do hang with people more often, but it seems like it doesn't fill my hunger for connection. I'm brain foggy and dissociated most of the time, and while it's getting better, I feel like i'm really far away when I'm spending time with loved ones.
I moved to the country side two years ago, which was a dream of mine. I met my boyfriend when I was working at a hotel and did his check-in, and he moved all the way across the country for me =). We have a rescue cat that was lost in the woods. Access to nature everyday. I am also a warm person, quite expressive and I am really liked by people, so this is not an issue about not being liked by people and people not being drawn to me.
I see friends more, go to more group activities(yoga, cafés etc) , I see my family more, and I am surrounded by a LOT of people at work (I work in hospitality, oh my my lol).
But i'm so lonely, I can feel it in my tummy. I yearn for a community, I wish I could buy a huge piece of land in the forest and build houses with like-minded people, and we would garden and make homemade remedies together, bake and cook, and share food, services and wisdom. We wouldn't necessarily be ''hanging'', we would be all co-living and being around each other. No need to talk all the time, we would be moving and doing things along side each other. A big communal room with lots of bean bags, a fireplace, a nice movie playing on the TV and people just chilling there, on their phones, watching the movie, or reading a book, without necessarily talking. We would put music around the fireplace oustside and dance to regulate our nervous system. We would cry, hug, laugh, and take care of each other. Cold plunge in the winter in wild streams...
Crazy that just a few decades/centuries ago, that was how people were living. Now it seems like an utopia to desire this.

My 16-year-old girl is in fantastic physical health, but I’m looking for ways to make her overall life experience better. We previously had another cat (who she didn’t get along with), but since that cat’s passing in the fall she’s been extremely needy and wakes me up multiple times at night. She only likes me and refuses to play or interact with anyone else in the household. She’s always been a high anxiety cat, and I want to make her golden years enjoyable.
Things we have tried: 1) Outdoor time on deck (no access to birds/wildlife): sometimes interested, but if so much as look at her she will run inside. 2) Outdoor in grass on harness: lol. Screamed loud enough to wake the dead 3) Cat safe plants: catnip, etc., indoor or outdoor- not super interested. More interested in things that make her puke than catnip 4) Treats: she only likes squeezy treats, so no toys with treats or use of treats as a motivator will work 5) Robo-fish: not interested 6) Cat TV: not interested
She will only play with me, and only with a feather wand. She will also brutally murder a catnip bag from time to time.
I love her but can’t spend all day attending to her needy, needy needs. I feel guilty that she’s understimulated, and I do think that contributes to her kitty anxiety and nighttime screaming. Again, she’s in absurdly good health and looks much younger than she is. We could have several more years together.
We have toyed with the idea of getting another cat for company, but given that she didn’t get along with our previous cat I’m concerned it would cause her too much stress. She was always the recipient of the hissing rather than the hisser, so it’s possible she’d have a better experience with another animal. If we did get another cat, there’s a strong preference for a kitten (or two) from the kids in the family, but as we all know, kittens are nuts.
Anyone have any ideas for enrichment I could try, or thoughts on old ladies plus new cat(s)? Her wellbeing is my priority in any decision made— she was here first (even before the kids)!

A bit about me/some general interests:
I love to listen to music, my favorite band since I was 15 lol is Blink 182(have seen them live three times). I like to watch movies and tv shows(who doesn’t?) - my favorite genre is horror, but I like other things too - suuuuper excited for season 4 of The Boys next week! I love to shop and get my nails done. I love coffee. I’m very close with my family, we spend a lot of time together. I like to stay active, and exercise daily. This is what I look like

Hello there,
after many (!) moons passed I finally decided to go ahead with this little project of mine. I'd like to hear some thoughts from the more experienced people, as I'm not super into server stuff. So here's a few of the important things:

• This server is meant primarily for all the media I've collected over the years - all of it is currently spread all over the place on multiple computers and external hard drives. I want to organize this as much as possible. This includes movies and TV shows as well as personally captured media.
• This is the build I put together: https://at.pcpartpicker.com/list/Vtn3YN
• I got the HDDs (9x4TB and 1x2TB) from someone who didn't need them anymore (lucky me), the RAM and SSD I already have in possession. I don't plan on using all HDDs right from the start, but if I need more down the road, the MB should have enough SATA ports - the one i chose has 8.
• The MB and CPU support ECC RAM but I don't have any. Is it worth getting for my use case?
• My media solution of choice is Jellyfin - I support the project, I like the UI and it's available on almost all platforms I use, most importantly my Apple TV lol. I also plan to have the computer run a few *minor* applications, the CPU I've chosen is more than powerful enough.
• As I write this, I was reading through the Jellyfin support documentation and it seems that AMD implementation is still very rocky and won't change for some time. Recommendations for Intel CPUs and compatible boards that meet my requirements (see above) are welcome!
• My apartment is very small and so the server will be in the basement and data will be transfered and transcoded through Powerline. I've done some research and from what I've gathered the speeds it will hit are fast enough. Of course I will test this first and if it doesn't work out as I'd hoped, I would leave it in the apartment and live with the noise. It doesn't bother me with my gaming PC.
• I want freedom of OS, I won't be getting a Synology/Qnap NAS but I also haven't done much research on which OS I should use. It should be user friendly
• The build should be as power efficient as possible. That is a bit vague, I suppose. Might have to watch a few more Wolfgang videos.

Ok so my husband started a new job and I have found myself with time to watch some TV shows without him. Here’s the issue, we’ve watched most of the shows that get suggested here already; fleabag, Derry Girls, Class of ‘07, The Great, etc. (We tend to watch TV at the end of our day and have managed to watch everything lol.) I just binged Bridgerton (and Queen Charlotte) and I can say that I definitely don’t think he would have liked it very much because it’s a bit on the soap opera-y side of things (he wouldn’t hate it, it’s just not the type of period show he would prefer). I also tend to like SciFi/fantasy more than he does. So I would say shows that are in either of those categories would be easier for me to find stuff to watch that he doesn’t care about.
So to recap, I’m looking for suggestions for TV shows that my husband would probably prefer not to watch (a la Bridgerton or SciFi/Fantasy), but you’re gonna have to dig deep because I am/we are professional couch potatoes 😂 (not really we are very active but we do watch a few hours of TV in the evening of which I am now finding myself having a few to myself).

I’m in the marine corps and we’re currently in different states across country. For four months I encouraged him to go outside and go for a nature walk, do something anything. He won’t even go to the gym unless I’m there. He was in the navy and says he overworked himself in the gym so it’s hard for him to get back into it at a slower pace.
Anyways I’ve offered him many ideas and activities to go do but he’d rather play video games and lay on the couch watching tv all weekend.
I should add he recently lost his grandfather who was an important figure to him. He also had a falling out with his friend group last fall and has left the party scene to be more responsible for his body and mind.
Last weekend he flew across the country to see me and we were out all day every day he was here. He complained sometimes but he had fun for the most part even when I was shopping lol. We did a lot of outdoor stuff despite the heat like strawberry picking and sightseeing.
Today is Sunday and I asked him if he wanted to go for a walk at a nearby park and he said he just wanted to relax after his busy work week. I just find it odd given he loves hiking and has expressed that a lot. Before I left for a few months we went on a few hikes. We went to the gym together. He started to go to the gym on his own when I first left but quickly retracted and stopped.
He says he’ll go to the gym with me and he doesn’t like going alone. He has a lot of ptsd and anxiety and doesn’t even like going to the grocery store for long on his own. We have a kitty so he’s not alone at home. It concerns me that such an outgoing and outdoorsy person isn’t doing what his soul craves.
In a couple of months we will be living together again but I’m concerned for future deployments or if I decide to take a trip on my own how that could affect him. I’m hoping the navy friends he has out here and the friends he makes will help him get out of the house.
Please don’t tell me I shouldn’t hold his hand so much. It’s my job as his wife to care for him, as he cares above and beyond for me. We both come from military families and understand what that ptsd looks like in all of its forms.
I feel helpless not being able to live with him right now.

Hello! I have come to you all today to kindly request the game Battlefront 2. I've always been a fan of Star Wars, but didn't pick up this game on release. Since I'm in a bit of a slump and not playing much these days, I was thinking I'd try asking for it to have something to play. I know it's a bit expensive ($50CAD), but that's exactly why I need some help getting it.
What is Battlefront 2?
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is mainly a multiplayer class-based 1st/3rd person shooter that has 2 armies from all the different eras of star wars fight it out in a massive 40 player battle. There are also some other modes like starship battles, heroes vs villains, and Ewok Hunt (personally this sounds really cool to me. One side plays as the empire the other as Ewoks, it's like a Star Wars hide n' seek). There's also a campaign, but tbh that's not really what I want the game for.
Why do you want the game?
I've always loved Star Wars since I first watched it. But my absolute favourite era of it is the Clone Wars. The TV show was awesome. So's the newer Bad Batch one. Sadly, there aren't many games in that era. Most are before, like The Old Republic games, or after, like Jedi Fallen Order and The Force Unleashed. But, Battlefront 2 allows players to play as Clones. You can pick which type you are, be it a assault, heavy, officer, or specialist, then customize their armour to any of the legions from the show. 9yr old me would've absolutely loved this. And 24 year old me loves the idea as well lol.
Why can't I buy it myself?
Usually I'm not one to ask for stuff. If I could, I would just buy it myself and not bother any of you here. But, due to some stuff that happened, and just my general situation in life, I can't really afford games right now when there is stuff far more important to my wellbeing, like rent and food. Besides that, I hope that maybe in a few months time, hopefully not much more than that, I'll be able to pay it back to someone else here.
