2024.05.24 09:12 EastOwl1882 Life in the ancient Uttarakhand

Life in the ancient Uttarakhand
On April 26, 1815, Almora was captured by British forces, and after 15 years, in 1830, William Traill was appointed as the assistant to E. Gardner. Due to the absence of E. Gardner, Traill utilized this opportunity to carry out surveys and wrote the remarkable account "Statistical Sketch of Kumaon." All of this happened at a time when there was very minimal contact between the Pahari people and mainlanders, hence we may have some archaic traditions left at that time, although there is minimal mention of them.
William Geroge Traill
From this and along with other sources, I have reconstructed some details of ancient Uttarakhanda.

Ethnic Formations

Assimilation has been happening in the Himalayas since ancient times. The original inhabitants have continually assimilated different peoples who migrated to this region, such as the Scythians (Shaka), Greeks (Yavana), and Huns in ancient times.
Legendary races (half truth and half myth): Gandharvas, Apsaras, Asura-Rakshasas, Yakshas, Kinnaras.
Proto-Historic: First Indians, later Harappans, Khasas (Indo-aryans), Kiratas ( a generalized term for Sino-Tibetan).
Later additions: Scythians, Greeks, Huns.

Political Formations

Uttarakhand has been ruled by various kingdoms such as the Kunindas, Katyuri, Chands, and Panwars. However, it has always been divided into numerous small principalities ruled by chieftains called Khasiyas, today known as Pradhans.

Social Formations

It should be noted that originally there were only two castes (roles) in Pahari society: the agricultural and artisional. This is also observed in the case of the Kalasha tribe in Pakistan. As the British began conducting caste surveys in the Himalayan region, the Pahari people began adopting castes from the plains and the titles of elites become the surname of common people.
The chieftains (Pradhans) or Khasiyas held titles like Rana and Thakur. Sometimes the elite warriors also held titles of Bisht, Negi, and Rawat.
People associated with music began to be called Doms. In the Tantrasarā, "Doma" means "a man of low caste who makes a living by music." Among the depressed classes, Tamatās were the most respected, deriving their name from "Tamrakaṭaka," meaning copper smith.

Clothing

Majority of regions worn the indigenous adaptation of the Scythian coat, the "kanchukah," in local language it is called "chogha" or "chola. It is a long woolen white overcoat
Katyuri era sculpture (male)
Katyuri era (female) ; credit: time (instagram)

Festivals

The most celebrated festivals were related to agriculture, such as Harela and Bishu. These festivals were important for socialization and provided paharis a break from their hectic, slow-paced life. People sometimes could also form relationships during these festivals, similar to the practices observed in the Kalasha society. In the Vedic texts, this is called "Gandharva vivah."

Food

William Traill noted that rice consumption was not widespread; the majority of the people depended on millets and various indigenous dals (pulses). They also consumed a lot of meat, including buffalo, goat, and even rats.

Men and Women

Women were typically married around puberty, this is evident from the Kumaoni word for wife, "Shaini/Syaini," derived from "Siyānī," सियानी meaning clever, mature, grown-up, or adult. The principal role of her was mainly of an agricultural worker.
  • Traill also observed Sati practice among high class (immigrant) rajputs which was a small minority.
https://preview.redd.it/64uwiezyqb2d1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=f643610e094c55bc90cbb6c4811b2c7a9ce6a0ef
The prevalent forms of marriage in Uttarakhanda were looked down in the Hindu scriptures, these included Asura (where the man pays reverse dowry), Gandharva (where the female can form relations with anyone), and Rakshasa (where the girl is abducted or marriage is conducted on the point of sword).
The men developed great martial traits in this environment. Major empires in ancient India often hired and praised them for their martial skills and capacity for hill warfare.
Altogether, William Traill was impressed by the simplicity and generousity of paharis.

Religion

People had extreme faith in their Ishta Devtas (personal deities), who were associated with agricultural prosperity. Among the most revered gods was the Nag Devta. Troubled by uncertain natural disasters, they had great faith in their gods and even worshipped malevolent spirits out of fear psychosis.

Apart from that there were various contempory gods and cults which require detailed expalanation.
All these topics will be discussed in detail later articles.

2024.04.16 06:59 Drax511 ऊँ Lord Harihara ऊँ

ऊँ Lord Harihara ऊँ
Picture 1 is a beautiful Painting of Lord Harihara (NOT DONE BY ME)
Picture 2 is a Beautiful Murti of Harihareswara from Karnataka India
Namaste my friends today I would like to dicuss something which is usually not discussed when talking about Hinduism
We normally here that there are 3 Divisions (not the 3 schools of thought) Shaivism, Vaishnavism and Shaktism
But predominantly the the first two which have dominated our landscape to this day
Here I Submit an Exerpt from Yajurveda which says:
"शिवाय विष्णु रूपाय शिव रूपाय विष्णवे । शिवस्य हृदयं विष्णुं विष्णोश्च हृदयं शिवः
यथा शिवमयो विष्णुरेवं विष्णुमयः शिवः यथाऽन्तरम् न पश्यामि तथा में स्वस्तिरायुषि यथाऽन्तरं न भेदाः स्युः शिवराघवयोस्तथा "
English:
"Shivaaya Vishnu Roopaaya, Shiva Roopaaya Vishanave
Shivasya Hrudayam Vishnur, Vishnuscha Hrudayam Shivaha
Yatha Shivamayo Vishnuhu, Yevam Vishnu Mayaha Shivaha
Yathaantharam Na Paschyaami, Thatha Me Swasthi Ra Yushi "
This mantra is found in the Yajurveda. It can also be found towards the end of the Yajurveda Sandhyavanam
Now let me get to the meaning my friends;
1) "Shivaaya Vishnu Roopaaya, Shiva Roopaaya Vishanave" -> Vishnu is none other and Shiva but also shiva is none other than Vishnu; I.e Shiva is Vishnu and Vishnu is Shiva
2)"Shivscha hrudayagam vishnu, vishnuscha hrudayagam shiva" -> Vishnu resides in Shiva's heart, and Shiva resides in Vishnu's heart.
3)"Yatha shiva mayo vishnuhu, yevam vishnu mayah shiv" -> Vishnu will be found in the same place you find Shiva, and Shiva can be found in the same place Vishnu is. Its if you find one, you have found the other
4)"Yathantaranna pashyami, thathatme swasthi ra yushi" -> They are one and the same. Until a person doesnt find any difference between those two he will be safe and live long
My friends you may think why I am ranting about this, but this is a very important topic to be had
Even in many online forums they ask if you are Vaishnava or a Shaiva, it was one of the top reasons which caused most of India to fall under forgein hands , we bickered over whose god was more Supreme...
But in truth both are the Same god, they both are Brahman but in different forms without each of them there avatars don't get complete; example Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman or Lord Narashima and Lord Sharabha
We forget to understand a Protector Is also a destroyer, Destroyer of Evil and the Destroyer is also the Protector, Protector of the Good from Evil. And Both of them are Creators , The Protector create a new path for humanity to walk on in each yuga and the Destroyer paves way for new creation itself.
KalliPurush said it himself, "I Love the people who gamble, drink liquor, abuse women and differentiate between Shiva and Vishnu"
It's also said that That Our Ancestors like the Cholas and Hoysalas used to Patronize only Shiva temples
This is entirely false, this is why I kept the the Hariharaeswara Murti picture, it's from Karnataka and was Builty around 1220 CE by the Hoysala King Veera Narashima II and there is Raja Raja Chola who commissioned many Vishnu Temples
It's true we bickered among who was the Supreme god but we used debate (Famous Example Adi Shankracharya and Guru Ramanjuacharya) rather than fighting about our beliefs forward and contrary to popular belief each side of the Debate did acknowledge the others god as a God and also worshipped them
I end by saying Let's not feed into Divisions kept my some historians, "We were , we are and will Always be united" regardless of which God we Pray
I would also like to apologise that I made this post too long, please forgive me, but I thank everyone who have read it till here
Thank you Om Hariharaya Namaha ऊँऊँ

2024.04.14 08:43 mmayor114 Dress Rehearsal Report: Ryan Gosling / Chris Stapleton 4/13/24

I was at the dress rehearsal for the Ryan Gosling episodes tonight (via standby) and can summarize what what was changed/cut to the best of my memory. If anyone else was at dress, feel free to correct or add anything I missed :)
Alien Encounter
Monologue
Engagement
Cabo Grill
Beavis and Butthead
Weekend Update: Colin Jost and Michael Che
Michael Longfellow
Caitlin Clark
Surgeons (They posted the dress rehearsal version)
Erin Brockovich
Cut for Time
\1. Canada Commercial (live sketch)
  • Ryan and Bowen speak directly to the camera in a commercial about Canada. "Not just America's hat." They say a list of things about Canada, with the last being that milk comes in a bag in Canada. They would then list some more things and then come back around to the bagged milk thing. They list famous Canadians like Shania Twain (photo), K.d. Lang (Chloe Troast stepping out), Martin Short (Chloe Troast stepping out in the same hair and costume). And they poke fun at the Canadian band The Tragically Hip. There's a quick bit where Ego and Longfellow curl across the stage. They go back to the bagged milk thing, showing how you put the bag in a pitcher and the cut the top open so you can pour and then you just kind of leave it like that. They also mention Canadian bacon and question why it is called peameal bacon in Canada.
  • Was pretty funny, but the audience didn't seem to like it so not surprised it got cut.
\2. Papyrus Sequel (Pre-Tape)
  • I'm not even gonna bother describing this now cause I assume they must be uploading it. ETA: Seems less cut-for-time and more an intentional digital exclusive.
\3. Weekend Update Correspondent: Kenan as O.J. Simpson (with Colin)
  • Kenan comes out as OJ, dressed in white with one of those fluffy white halos over his head. OJ tells Colin about how he's in heaven now and it's great. Says how he's really hungry all the time, but any time he grabs any food it turns to dust. And he plays football in heaven, too, but whenever he gets to the endzone, he fumbles the ball and it rolls all the way down the field. And the audience just stares at him and points. Also mentions snakes latching onto his nipples. And periodically a black glove appears on his hand which "fits perfectly." (A crew member under the table would sneak the glove onto his hand and then Kenan gets shocked by it). Colin questions if he really is in heaven. OJ says it is heaven cause his lawyers are there and there's a lot of priests too (audience shock reaction to priests joke). And god is there too, but he doesn't look like he expected. He doesn't have a beard and has bat wings and every day he cuts his own dick off and eats it. OJ does want to admit to something: that all his cars were rented from Enterprise. At the end, there was a slight mishap where a voiceover from "God/Satan" played and simultaneously the crew member did the glove bit again which Kenan reacted to, which drowned out the voiceover. As Kenan left the desk he shouted to the audience that the glove came too early.
\4. Escape Room (live sketch)
  • Ryan, Bowen, and Sarah are three friends led into a new section of an escape room by the host (Mikey) and are accompanied by Heidi, who is a "hot stranger" who they let join their escape room group. The trio reference a "tone" issue they had in the prior room. As they start on the new room, Ryan says something like "Guys, get it together!" and Bowen and Sarah immediately chastise him for yelling at them and then they proceed to have a back and forth with him about exactly what tone he used when he spoke to them, with Ryan saying "Guys" in various ways, eventually melodically, until they agree again. The same thing occurs except Bowen is deemed the aggressor. Mikey gives them a three minute warning, at which point Heidi admits that she's been sabotaging them by going around and swallowing keys. I think that's about where it ended.
\5. Pokemon Pitch Meeting (live sketch)
  • Ryan and Punkie are in a conference room pitching new Pokemon to Bowen and Kenan. They have an easel pad with a layout similar to a Pokemon card with at picture of a Pokemon in the top middle, with an attack listed below and below that a description. (The text on the "cards" seemed to match what Ryan and Punkie would say more or less). The first Pokemon: Pikachola, described as "Pikachu, but chola." with an image of Pikachu in stereotypical chola clothes. The rest of the Pokemon (about 3 or 4) all have some kind of existential issue. Pomobolo a mushroom Pokemon. Bobledon(?), basically just a rock with eyes, but it gets weird at parties, drinks too much, and then sends unsolicited nudes on the way home. Bowen and Kenan ask how this would battle Squirtle for instance. Ryan then describes Squirtle using water gun, Bobledon using send nudes, and then Squirtle screenshotting the nudes and sending them all to its friends and ridiculing Bobledon. Another Pokemon looks like a bunch of grapes each with a face. Two are green while the rest are purple. The two that are green are soul mates but are cursed to be on opposite sides of the bunch and never see each other. The last one was just a drawing of a woman in a skirt suit with a big hat named Miss Bianca. She is a surprise witness, so just when you think you are going to win the trial, she stomps in and ruins your defense. Bowen says all the Pokemon are approved and ready to be unleashed on the world.
I'm shocked they cut the Papyrus sequel. I also think all of the cut material was better than the Cabo Grill sketch. Perhaps they didn't want to shut out Marcello since that was his only role all night.

2024.03.22 14:59 Cranky_Yankee Why is Queen Sembiyan Mahadevi's statue naked instead of clothed?

Today I stumbled across the Wikipedia entry for Queen Sembiyan Mahadevi of the Chola empire (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sembiyan_Mahadevi) and the article includes a picture of a bronze status of her majesty where she is wearing a crown, a smile and not much else. Who chose to depict her as such and why did they do it? The article says the bronze is " meant to symbolize specific divine attributes" but I can't help think there is more going on here. Was it the fashion at that time and place for the women to be "dressed" like this? Was her husband, King Gandaraditha Chola, trying to say something along the lines of "it's GOOD to be the king"? Or was Queen Sembiyan trying to say "it's good to be the QUEEN"?

2024.03.14 14:34 Lampedusan Was India that ineffective militarily as is commonly thought?

I understand India politicially was fragmented but lets start with the premise that were talking about soldiers from that region. Because of British occupation and defeats to Turks and Afghans they’re seen as militarily incapable. However I think this is overdone with a few examples:
Im not saying India has been great militarily especially when you count its defeats. But I think their achievements need to be counted to and when you consider the full span of history and how others often fared worse against the same adversaries it makes a more mixed picture that India was not a pushover but still an underperformer for a country of its size.

2024.01.14 14:57 ashutosh_vatsa Prana Pratishtha Controversy regarding the new Ram Janma Bhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya.

There is a lot of controversy going around about the Prana Pratishtha Puja to be conducted at the new Shree Ram Janma Bhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya.
I tried to avoid writing on this controversial issue but there have been many posts regarding this topic in the sub and this issue needs to be clarified. The Ram Janma Bhoomi Mandir is too important and as such misconceptions must be addressed.
Claim 1 -
Many are claiming that conducting the Prana Pratishtha ceremony in an incomplete temple is wrong and that the Agama texts prohibit Prana Pratishtha at a temple where construction is not complete.
Facts -
  1. According to the Agamas, the Manditemple exists around the deity and not the other way around. The kṣetra radiates from the Brahmasthana which is decided upon the Vastu Purusha Sthapana.
  2. According to iconographist and Puranic scholar https://twitter.com/artist_rama , Prana Pratishtha can be done anytime after the Garbha-Griha (Sanctum-sanctorum) is ready. Completion of the entire superstructure is not necessary.
  3. Regarding the completion of the temple, 3 stages are important : Vastupurusha Sthapana, Prana Pratishtha, and Purna Kalasa Samsthapana.
  4. Vastupurusha Sthapana (Square Mandala) is done before the construction of the temple to decide the "Brahmasthana" which is Garbhagriha. This is the core & from here everything radiates.
  5. Once Garbhagriha is ready, Prana Pratishtha can be done anytime before the completion of Shikhara.
  6. Without establishing "Moolavirat ( Main Deity )" or deciding on a spot for him, it is difficult to decide on the "Brahma Randra" in the Shikhara.
  7. Prana Pratishtha ritual is left to the decision of King/Sthapathi/Mantri/Senapati/Vyapari. Rest all construction would take years to decades to even a century based on the magnanimity of the temple. If the Kostha devatas are not established, Nyasa won't happen.
  8. If Prana Pratishtha is done, Moolaviraat will receive Upacharas. If Maha mandapa is complete, then snapana/utsava murtis will come in to picture. Meaning, based on the aspect of the temple, the rituals keep adding up.
  9. Purna Kalasa Samsthapana above the Shikara is done only after the entire main temple is completed. Still, Aspects like Dhwaja, Balipeetham, Gopuram, and Prakaram can be incomplete. Each one of them needs celebration, Muhurtam, and rituals.
  10. In the case of Ram Mandir, the spot for Moolaviraat is marked. GarbhaGriha's Brahma Randra is fixed & sealed & now there is no danger of spoiling to MoolaViraat, all Upacharas can be performed.
  11. Hence, the Prana Pratishtha can be performed.
  12. Also, anyone who has grown up in a small community in India and observed the construction of a Mandir like me knows that it is common for the Prana Pratishtha ritual to be performed before the temple is complete because that sometimes takes years, if not decades.
  13. There are many examples of Prana Pratishtha being performed in an incomplete temple throughout history.
  14. https://twitter.com/tskrishnan lists some examples like the Rajarajeswaram temple
  15. Examples : Rajarajeswaram temple built by Rajaraja Chola. The consecration was done on the 275th day of Rajaraja's 25th regnal year (10th April 1010) as he has done the Prathishta of the 'Stuthupi', according to one inscription. At that time, only the Parivara Ganapathi shrine & the Chandikeswarar shrine were completed. There number of donations made by him for various shrines from his 26th and 27th regnal year. Apart from this, his commander Krishnan Raman built the entire outer wall (Thiruchchutru Malagai) along with the shrines of 'Dig Balakas' till Rajaraja's 29th regnal year. The other shrines as seen in the temple are built later. In fact, the shrine of Periya Nayaki was built during the period of Jatavarma Sundara Pandya. So it is not uncommon to continue with the rest of the construction, even after the consecration of the sanctum is complete.
  16. Most of the rock-cut temples are excavated top down. In that case that part of the temple is built first which is higher, so jagati and adhisthana of the temple emerge later, far after the Vigraha emerges and is consecrated.
  17. Matangeshvara temple, Khajuraho. Here, the Śiva Lingam is much bigger than the temple gates. So, the Vigraha that was consecrated first, and then the temple was built around it. It couldn’t have passed the gates after the temple was built.
  18. Bhaskaresvhara temple in Bhubaneswar. It is a two-storeyed temple with an unusual pidha deula śikhara (usually reserved for mandapas). The Śiva Linga inside is two storeys big. So, the only way that it happened was that they consecrated the Vigraha first and then built the temple around it.
  19. Shri Ulgalanda Perumala temple dedicated to the Trivikrama svaroopa of the deity also houses a Vigraha which is much bigger than the temple gate.
  20. First, they partially built the Garbha-Griha walls except one and then created and consecrated the Vigraha first. And later built the superstructure and the remaining wall.
  21. Many more temples built by the Hoysalas and Chalukyas, which are still living and always were, have parts of their śikhara incomplete. But the Murti/Vigraha has been consecrated and people worship the deity there.
  22. It is easier, according to some, to place the Kalasha above if the Vigraha is already there. And this has happened a lot of times.
Claim 2 -
The Dhwaja or the temple flag of the Ram Janma Bhoomi Mandir is not ready yet.
Fact -
The Dhwaja or the temple flag of the Ram Janma Bhoomi Mandir is already ready and has been delivered.
Claim 3 -
Why should the Prana Pratishtha be performed on 22nd January 2024 and not on any other day like the Rama Navmi?
Fact -
Multiple factors decide the auspicious time, which might not even come for years. So, it is important to adhere to the Muhurat date and time calculated by the experts as per the Panchang. On 22nd Jan there is a great Muhurat of 84-85 seconds during which the ceremony will be done.
Claim 4 -
PM Narendra Modi should not perform the Prana Pratishtha as the Yajamana because the presence of both the Husband and the Wife is essential for the KarmaKanda rituals.
Fact -
The Mukhya (Main/Primary) Yajamana of the Prana Pratishtha is VHP President Dr Rabindra Narain Singh who will perform the ceremony along with his wife. PM Narendra Modi will be a part of the ceremony as a Yajamana and he is properly following the Yama Niyama rituals required for the Prana Pratishtha.
Even when PM Narendra Modi performed the Bhoomi Pujan and laid the foundation stone of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on 5 August 2020, he was not the Mukhya (Main/Primary) Yajamana of the ceremony. That honour was given to former late VHP President Ashok Singhal's nephew Salil Singhal who performed the ceremony along with his wife.
So, the obvious question is Why all this confusion?
  1. The typical Hindu way. There is no consensus on most topics. The temple consecration rituals are decided as per the Agama Scriptures. Sometimes, the multiple Agamas contradict each other. Different sects and sampradayas emphasize different Agamas.
  2. The Pancharatra agamas - one of the 2 major agamas of the Vaishnavas is denounced as heretical by Adi Shankaracharya in Brahma sutras.
  3. There are different interpretations of the same scriptures and since Ramananda was inspired by Ramanuja they may follow the Pancharatra agamas which Adi Shankaracharya criticized. So it is complicated.
The Politics of it all :
Some people have issues that there is political involvement. If you were to look at the history of the Ram Mandir, politics has been an integral part of it for decades, if not centuries. Religion and devotion mixed seamlessly with Political and organisational will are how the Ram Mandir movement began and succeded. Without politics, we wouldn't have the Mandir today. It is certainly unfortunate but it is what it is. The Ram Mandir movement changed the political landscape of India and its consecration will echo in the political corridors for a long time. That is the truth we must all accept.
But, because of political motivations and personal ambitions, some will try to divide the Hindus even on the issue of the consecration of Shri Ram Janma Bhoomi Mandir which is a great unifier. We must stay united.
Additional Facts all of us must know :
The Ramanandi sampradaya, also known as the Ramavats sect, is the largest sect of Vaishnavas. Out of 52 gates of Vaishnavism divided into 4 Vaishnava Sampradaya, 36 are held by Ramanandi. They mainly emphasize the worship of Rama, Sita, and Hanuman. They consider Ram and Sita as Supreme Absolute who are non different from each other.
They have the greatest say in matters of the Ram Mandir. The Ramanandi Sampradaya has priority over all other sects in this matter. They have fought for the cause of the Ram Mandir for a long time. If they have no objection to the Prana Pratishtha, we shouldn't either.
Jagadguru Rambhadracharya belongs to the Ramanandi Sampradaya. He is probably the greatest Hindu Scholar alive right now, especially when it comes to Ram. He is a spiritual leader, educator, Sanskrit scholar, polyglot, poet, author, textual commentator, philosopher, composer, singer, playwright, and Katha artist. He is one of four incumbent Jagadguru Ramanandacharya.
Rambhadracharya has been blind since the age of two months, had no formal education until the age of seventeen years, and has never used Braille or any other aid to learn or compose. He is a prodigy. He can speak 22 languages and is a spontaneous poet and writer in Sanskrit and several other languages. He has authored more than 100 books and 50 papers, including four epic poems, Hindi commentaries on Tulsidas' Ramcharitmanas, a Sanskrit commentary in verse on the Ashtadhyayi, and Sanskrit commentaries on the Prasthanatrayi scriptures. He is acknowledged for his knowledge in diverse fields including Sanskrit Grammar, Nyaya, and Vedanta. He is regarded as one of the greatest authorities on Tulsidas and is the editor of a critical edition of the Ramcharitmanas.
He was consulted by the Supreme Court of India in the Ram Mandir Judgement. He is a scholar par excellence. If there was a problem with the Prana Pratishtha, he would know it and speak against it.
After a wait and struggle of 492 years, the construction of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple began. After a wait of 497 years, his devotees will finally be able to worship Bhagwan Ram at his birthplace in the proper manner again as they had been worshipping for thousands of years.
This is an example of Hindu resilience and devotion to Lord Ram. They kept the struggle going for 492 years so that they could worship God Ram and Goddess Sita at the holy site. It is an occasion for Hindus across the world to celebrate.
Let us not be divided over something that should be an unifier for us.
रमंति इति रामः
Rama” means “sarve ramanti iti ramah”. That Life Divine or Absolute Reality that enlivens all things and beings is RAMA!
Jai Shree Ram! Jai Mata Sita!
Swasti!
Edit :- Claim 4 and the relevant fact have been added later as an edit.

2023.12.11 05:35 besto_escapist Old lady gave me advice in the Astral Plane?

So this evening, it was raining, and I was lying with my cat under the blankets of my bed.
Purring cat + soft rain sounds = getting sleepy.
I could tell it was a short nap because it kept raining when I woke up for a few seconds, barely opening one eye (where I live, the rains in the evening usually last for 1 hour or less). In that short moment, I felt subtle vibrations, and I am familiar with them; however, I don't rely on them.
Just out of curiosity, I began imagining my body doing impossible movements such as spinning like a bottle or bending downwards, just to feel those vibrations and experiment. I practice lucid dreaming more than AP itself because MILD is like my comfort zone. I wasn't even thinking of WILD at that moment, even LESS about APing. A few vibrations more, and then it happened.
The transition was smooth like butter; all of a sudden, I'm slooooowly leaving my body sideways. Imagine getting out of a shell in a slow linear movement, almost robotic, no slow in or slow out, just moving to the ground with wide eyes. That's how it happened.
After it's done, immediately I think, 'That felt nice,' and begin crawling carefully. I'm 100% aware of what's happening and try to breathe deeply while looking at the ground details. Everything is more colorful and vivid, details in 6k because I looked at my clothing scattered on the ground; I could see the little holes in the fabric. After stabilizing for a few seconds, I crawl to my desk because that's part of my action plan. As soon as I reach it, I stand up feeling so light.
Then I panic; there was supposed to be something on my desk, and at that moment, I don't remember what it is. It was important, the key part of my practices, yet it wasn't there (revelation at the endl).
So my plan is ruined, and I don't know how to proceed. I was considering maybe checking on my cat, but as soon as I turn to see my body and my cat under the blanket, on the wall, there's a HUGE gap transitioning into a beautiful scenery of a Bolivian Festival. I'm from Bolivia, so I recognize it immediately from the clothing of the people and the distant Folklore Music.
Some children are sitting on concrete stairs, and on the railing, there's an old lady in pollera (Lady of Pollera or cholita means a woman who wears a cultural skirt called Pollera and a poncho; Google 'chola Bolivia' to get an idea of how the woman looked like).
As soon as I look at her, she turns her head to look at me, nods as if understanding I need help, and I approach her, meaning that I enter the gap and walk now in that new scenery. I immediately feel safe when she grabs my hand, and we watch the dancers for a moment, like a wave of safety and welcoming. I look at the sky, and it's the most beautiful sea of stars. It was so vivid; I can still recall it clearly like a picture in front of me. There are blue and purple colors mixed, and if you focus on the stars, they have a rainbow bloom outline, each one, and there were thousands.
I then decide to ask, 'Is this Chutillos?' (Chutillos is an important festival), and the lady looks at me and shakes her head. Then she begins to speak Quechua, which is a native language from Bolivia,
which I don't know.
I listen to her gibberish, maybe understanding a few words here and there. She moves her hand, gesturing to the dancers and pointing at the decorations, and I'm nodding at her, not understanding a thing actually.
Deciding to be honest, I cut her off with, 'I'm sorry, I actually don't speak Quechua,' I say a bit ashamed. She laughs, and I notice some of her teeth are golden, by the way.
She gestures for me to follow her. I see in the distance some stalls of local food, and I understand she is inviting me to dessert. As I walk behind her, I decide to ask, 'Why did I finally Astral Project, and so easily?' The lady stops to turn around and look at me, waiting for me to repeat. I say, 'Why do some people Astral project easily while others not? I say this because I read online...' and I begin explaining a bit and even mentioning DreamViews.
This was a top-tier question I have saved for higher beings alongside with other ones. I just asked that right away, and she sighs.
She is clearly disappointed of me, as if she was looking at an ignorant child in front of her. She speaks low in Spanish this time, a few subtle cussing and gibberish, but the message struck me clearly. I understood her feelings of disappointment and felt ashamed at that moment. Basically, her message was that 'I should never compare my experiences with others.'
She continues walking away mumbling stuff to herself because I can no longer understand her. I walk behind her, noticing she is a bit mad now.
I decide to find something else to do before all of this ends. I walk away towards big stairs that lead to another street. At the moment, I thought, 'Maybe I should try flying.' I jump, and for a mere moment, I'm floating. But, I look down, and because all was so real, so vivid, I felt scared. The street was downhill, so I thought I would roll down and hurt myself.
I suddenly fall to the ground not so gracefully, noticing other people/entities are looking at me. Suddenly, I hear a voice, 'Wanna go back now?'
'Yeah,' I say instantly. I don't know why I felt like ending it so soon, but I did. Immediately within a second, everything turns black, and I see quick flashes of light blue with bloom and dark blue lines, like when you are in a car and see the lights pass by quickly.
And I softly open my eyes, just in time because my cat wakes up and steps over me to get out of bed since my bed is positioned against the wall. I felt good and well-rested, though.
I stand up, and guess what, I checked my desk and gasp. I always, ALWAYS left a book on it, but this time it wasn't there. I remember this morning I moved the book for a moment so my cat could sit comfortably and watch outside the window.
The book is important because it is one I've never read, not even a look inside the pages. My top one goal for APing is to prove AP itself by reading a random page of the book.
THAT'S what I regret the most because with that, I could have proven if that experience was 10000% real or not in my opinion.
One thing that bothers me is the fact that I couldn't understand the lady well. I thought in the astral plane, everyone could communicate without talking, so this being a simple lucid dream is a high possibility, in my opinion.
If only I had left the book in its respective place :/
