I am offering this information in the hopes that it will help the developers at Arrow Head with weapon balance and consistency.
Ballistics is an inceadibly complicated science and trying to translate it into a game is a daunting task and I don't envy anyone who has to do it.
That being said lets jump in and break things down a little. Lets start with the obvious, ballistic weapons use bullets to do damage. It is the cartridge inside of the weapon that determines the mass and velocity of the projectile/bullet that actullay and ultimatly does the damage.
The weapon can have some influence over projectile velocity I.E. longer barrels can increase velocity over shorter barrels, so two different weapons using the same cartridge but with different barrel lengths can have different damage values in a video game. But more on that later.
The question here is, how do we make things balanced and consistant?
My sugestion is, let's use some very basic ballistic math to get a base line for the cartridges our video game weapons might be using.
(Mass) x (Vellocity squared) devided by (64.89)
is the formula used to determine how much energy in foot pounds a projectile will have at the muzzle of a weapon. In this formula Mass is in pounds and Velocity is in feet per second.
The plan is to use this formula to set a base line that we can use for comparison of our video game weapons.
For example a 5.56 NATO (5.56x45) cartidge fires a 70grain bullet at 2900 feet per second out of a 20inch barrel.
Let's plug this data into the formula. This formula requiers the mass to be in pounds so we need to convert the 70grain weight of the bullet to pounds (1 grain = .000143 pounds) so (70grains) equals (.01001 pounds). Plugging all of this into the formula and we get a muzzle energy of 1297 ft. lbs.
So how is this usefull? Well we we have now established a base line to work with. Now lets attach this value to an in game weapon, say the trusty liberator assault rifle and we asighn the weapon a damage out-put value, say 60 points. now 1297 foot ounds of muzzle energey equals 60 points of in game damage.
Now lets say we have a weapon that uses a different cartidge, say the 7.62 NATO (7.62x51). This cartridge fires a 150grain bullet at 2800 feet per second out of a 22inch barrel.
Useing the same formula, again converting the 150grain weight to pounds first and we get a muzzle energy of 2592 ft. lbs.
After comparing the two cartridges we find that the 7.62 Nato cartridge is putting out twice as much energy as the 5.56 Nato cartridge, so this new weapon can do as much as 120 points of in game damage.
While it's true that there are more factors in this game than just base damage to consider this system can bring some consistancy to the difficult task of weapon balancing. Now for every new weapon introduced we have a base line for comparison and we can adjust barrel lenght, ammunitoin capacity, accuracy, rate of fire and various types of ammunition (incendary, explosive, armor piercing ect.) to fine tune the balance.
A note on barrel length for every inch of change in barrel length, shorter or longer, bullet velocity will decrease or increase by 25 feet per second, so there will be a 200 foot per second difference in velocity between a 16inch barrel and a 24inch barrel (to be clear, longer barrels produce higher velocities). This can be pluged into the formula and used as a comparrison, if there is a resulting change in velocity of 10% then the damage changes by 10%. This offers a little bit more fine tuning.
The other cool thing about using this system is that foot pounds of energy can be converted to watts.
(1 watt = .35582 ft. lbs. of energy) we can now compare the energy weapons to balistic weapons for further fine tuenig.
One final thought. If the damages on the higher powered ammunition seem out of hand convert some of that damage to knock back or stun.

I’m just here to say the HMG emplacement stratagem fucks unequivocally.
I just played last night for the first time in a couple weeks and I loaded into a lvl 7 bugs ICBM mission and brought the mech, air strike, EAT rockets, and the HMG emplacement with me. Not my usual loadout but fuck it I wanted to shoot as many bullets as I can in one round. And holy fuck I forgot how much fun the HMG is to use. I remember in my earlier levels it was something I carried with me everywhere but I stopped carrying it regularly once I realized NONE of the ship upgrades for sentries apply to it (please at least make the enhanced rotation oil or whatever it’s called apply like they all fuckin spin) but I almost want to add back into my regular loadout after last night.
Literally one of the most fun games I’ve played in my entire 240 hr career as a helldiver. I forgot how good it is at absolutely shredding anything that’s light and medium armor. I’d been feeling much more wary of brood commanders and spewers recently because I stopped bringing the AC for a backpack slot(I love the jump pack to the moon and back pun intended) and it was so refreshing to just mow them down from a distance while my teammates picked off all the chaff running for cover. It’s cool down is pretty fast too I don’t know the exact number off the top of my head but I know it has to be faster than the other sentries. And the fact that you can place multiple of them down without them despawning like the sentries queues up matches to have some fucking badass firefights.
At our extraction we had two HMGs down on high ground points covering different main choke points while I supported from behind in the mech with our last teammate. Hearing the two fifties blasting away with my mini gun going off was the most stimulating auditory porn I’ve ever listened to and watching the bugs patrols just get melted where they stood was so mf satisfying. We had a super smooth extraction with plenty of kills to go round and it spurred me to write the post because I swear it was the most fun I’ve had in this game in a while.
I know it takes forever for it to turn and it can run out of ammo kinda quick if you lay on the trigger but honestly, it’s just a lot of fun to use and that’s what’s important fr. There’s something cinematic about sprinting up to a raised rock and calling it down to support your teammates in a bind.
I’d even argue it might even be more useful than sentries depending on the situation and its overall a hell of a lot safer for your teammates. Being able to aim it yourself and focus heavier enemies instead of wasting high caliber rounds on scavengers makes it more valuable than the AC sentry that turns 180 degrees to point blank the hunter and collateral two teammates and itself imo.

Action Change Settings - To address button bloat, certain actions will be replaced by their follow-up counterparts on the same button upon use, instead of the follow-up actions being on a separate button. However, for those who would prefer it the old way, this setting allows you to choose whether or not those changing actions will be replaced by their follow-up counterparts.
Adjustments to Tanks

• Rampart and job-specific 30% damage reduction abilities will be upgraded in the 90s level range
• Reprisal’s duration will be increased to 15 seconds in the 90s level range

Paladin

• The second and third executions of Atonement have been changed to new actions with separate animations (the Atonement button will change to these actions automatically, so button presses will remain the same)
• A new action that can be executed after Blade of Valor will be added
• In order to execute Goring Blade, you will need to have Fight or Flight activated

Warrior

• A new action, which can be executed after three executions of Fell Cleave or Decimate while Inner Release is active, will be added
• A new action that can be executed after Primal Rend will be added
• Visual effects and animation of Inner Chaos will be adjusted

Dark Knight

• To reduce the number of inputs during burst damage phases, Blood Weapon will upgrade into Delirium, and the effects of Blood Weapon will be added to Deliirium
• A new action that can be executed after Living Shadow will be added

Gunbreaker

• A new action that can be executed after Fated Circle (via Continuation) will be added
• A new 3-step combo that can be executed after Bloodfest will be added (no cartridge cost)

Adjustments to Melee DPS

• Second Wind’s potency will be increased in the 90s level range
• Feint’s duration will be increased to 15 seconds in the 90s level range

Monk

• Basic combo mechanics will no longer center around maintaining a buff or DoT; instead, performing actions in a certain order will increase the next action’s potency. Adjustments will be
• Can accumulate up to a total of ten chakra while Brotherhood is active, to prevent chakra overflow
• There will be a potency buff to Six-Sided Star if executed while you have ten chakra stacks

Dragoon

• To reduce positional requirements for the single-target combo, the 5th combo action has been changed to a new non-directional action, Drakesbane (Fang and Claw/Wheeling Thrust will change to Drakesbane, so input execution will remain the same
• To facilitate maximum damage output at the beginning of a battle, Life of the Dragon will be available without accumulating Dragon Gauge
• To reduce the number of inputs during burst damage phases, certain actions will be removed or adjusted

Ninja

• Huton’s effect has been moved to a trait and will always be active (Huton will be changed to an AoE attack which grants the effect of Hidden)
• Actions which extend the duration of Huton’s effect will be adjusted in accordance with the above change
• Due to these adjustments, the Windmill logo in the job gauge will be removed

Samurai

• To simplify recast management, Tsubame-gaeshi will be changed to be executable after Meikyo Shisui
• Hakaze, Tenka Goten, and Midare Setsugekka will be upgraded into new actions
• Traits will be added that shorten the recast time for Hissastsu: Guren and Hissastsu: Senei

Reaper

• Plentiful Harvest’s effect will no longer increase the Shroud Gauge by 50, and instead will allow execution of Enshroud (now can be used when gauge is at 51 or more without waste)
• A new action that can be executed while Enshrouded will be added

Viper

• A fast-paced job that fluidly shifts between dual-wield blades and double-bladed strikes
• Has a similar total number of actions as other jobs, but is designed so that fewer actions need to be set on the hotbar
• Executing actions will build a job gauge, which can then be expended in an enhanced “Awaken” phase
• When applying buffs to yourself as well as debuffs to the enemy, certain other actions will be enhanced depending on which buffs/debuffs are active
• In addition to close-range melee attacks, there are also some long-range attacks available should you need to fight from afar

Adjustments to Ranged Physical DPS

• Second Wind’s healing potency will be increased in the 90s level range
• Damage reduction of job-0specific defensive abilities will be increased to 15% in the 90s level range

Bard

• Mage’s Ballad, Army’s Paeon, and the Wanderer’s Minuet will be changed into buffing actions which do not attack enemies
• Pitch Perfect will be changed into an AoE attack for ease of use in encounters with multiple enemies
• Single-target and AoE procs (Straight Shot Ready/Shadow Bite Ready) will be merged into one proc for better ease of use

Machinist

• Barrel Stabilizer will no longer increase Heat Gauger by 50, and instead will allow execution of Hypercharge (can now be used when gauge is at 51 without waste)
• A new trait which accumulates charges for Drill will be added

Dancer

• A new action that can be executed after Flourish will be added
• A new action which consumes Esprit and can be executed after Technical Finish will be added
• Certain skills currently triggered by Standard Step may now be executed without having to go through the step actions

Adjustments to Magical Ranged DPS

• Swiftcast’s recast will be reduced to 40 seconds in the 90s level range
• Addle’s duration will be increased to 15 seconds in the 90s level range

Black Mage

• Various adjustments will be made to streamline certain aspects of the job, such as restoring MP upon landing ice spells while Umbral Ice is active, instead of passively over time
• A new action which repositions Ley Lines beneath the caster once will be added

Summoner

• Solar Bahamut, a new summon akin to Bahamut and Phoenix, will be added (new summon rotation will be: Solar Bahamut - Bahamut - Solar Bahamut - Phoenix)
• A new attack action that can be executed after Searing Light will be added
• Summoner will keep Resurrection for Dawntrail, but may have it removed in 8.0

Red Mage

• Manafication will no longer increase Black Mana and White Mana by 50, and will instead allow the execution of enchanted swordplay actions without cost (can now be executed while mana is at 51 or more without waste)
• The AoE enchanted swordplay combo beginning with Enchanted Moulinet will now consume a total of 50 Black Mana and White Mana, similar to its single-target counterpart
• Whenever Embolden is executed, an attack ability will be enabled

Pictomancer

• Link to Pictomancer overview and gameplay demonstration in the livestream (I found this job much easier to understand by watching the demonstration, BTW)
• Job actions centered around Aether Hue elemental attacks (Red = Flare, Green = Aero, Blue = Water) and Motifs (Creature, Weapon, and Landscape)
• Aether Hue attacks build a gauge that can be expended on White elemental Holy attacks as well as Subtractive Pallette, which upgrades your other elemental attacks to higher-potency elements.
• Creature Motif involves rendering parts of a creature (eg. a Moogle) via attacks that will eventually summon the creature for a higher-powered attack
• Weapon Motif is a fast triple-cast combo
• Landscape Motif is a longer-cast action that deals damage to enemy and grants buffs to self and party members

Adjustments to Healers

• Swiftcast’s recast time will be reduced top 40 seconds in the 90s level range

White Mage

• A new action allowing the caster to quickly move forward will be added
• A new AoE attack, which can be executed up to 3 times after Presence of Mind, will be added
• New trait that increases Tetragrammaton stack number will be added

Scholar

• Seraphism, a new action which changes the caster’s appearance and enhances healing magicks, will be added
• A new AoE attack that can be executed after Chain Stratagem will be added; it will include a DoT
• A new trait that reduces recast time for Recitation will be added

Astrologian

• The card system will no longer be RNG based, and will instead simultaneously draw cards with offensive, defensive, and curative effects
• Every 60 seconds, you can draw one set of four cards (divided under Lord of Crowns or Lady of Crowns), each card having different effects, and you can use the cards in that set depending on your situational needs
• Astrodyne will be removed with the discontinuation of astrosigns
• New trait that increases Essential Dignity stack number will be added

Sage

• Eukrasia will now enhance Dyskrasia II into Eukrasian Dyskrasia, an AoE attack which deals damage over time to enemies within range
• A new party buff, which heals party members whenever the caster casts a spell, will be added (basically a ranged version of Kardion, but will only be in effect for a limited amount of time)
• New trait that reduces the recast time of Soteria will be added

PvP Updates

• Viper and Pictomancer will be added to PvP in 7.0
• New PvP actions, action adjustments, and adjustments to existing PvP maps are currently planned for 7.1
• Crystalline Conflict ranked matches will;; be in preseason between 7.0 and 7.1 (rankings will not be updated, but tiers and Crystal Credit will be affected by wins and losses

New Characters

• Two new NPCs that will appear in the Dawntrail MSQ were discussed: Bakool Ja Ja and Koana, who will both be competing for the throne of Tural. Bakool Ja Ja is a two-headed Mamool Ja, similar to Gulool Ja Ja, and Koana is the male Miqo’te from the Dawntrail poster.

• Benchmark software/graphics update: Some adjustments have been made based on feedback on the original benchmark. These include adjustments to lighting in the character creator, as well as corrections to graphical oddities in character models (addressing things like Keeper of the Moon Miqo’te teeth and Lalafell mouths/teeth). I am 43yMale and recently looked over my 401K and since they dont have a good target date fund, the money was divided into many high ER(0.6%-1.58%) funds (large/mid/low cap etc.) They did have some index funds available, but not picked by default, so i have since moved all the money to Vanguard and Fidelity Indexes. this is the before and after

EDIT: I have run some additional testing with some rather disappointing results.
I turned on advanced environmental effects in an old save and travelled to Bondar. The local environment showed an ambient effect of EXTREME AMBIENT HEAT. The temperature was at 461 degrees, but I'm not convinced that display value is relevant to any actual mechanic.
I put on gear to give me ZERO thermal resistance, total. Then I went outside and waited. After about 8 or 9 minutes (hard to tell exactly because of load times and status checks), my protection expired and I almost immediately got heat stroke which then immediately got worse.
I went back into my ship and healed everything up. I then maxed out my thermal resistance to 85 and repeated the experiment. The beeping countdown did not change at all. In fact, after about 7 or 8 minutes, I got both severe burns and heatstroke and my protection hadn't expired.
That seemed...off, so I did it again. I got the same exact result. 85 thermal protection had NO impact on duration of suit protection, nor did it seem to reduce the consequences in terms of afflictions. If anything, I seemed more vulnerable.
Is my save bugged? I don't know. Is the environmental stuff bugged? That's possible, or maybe I am drastically misinterpreting something.
I would greatly appreciate feedback from anybody else who has actually tested the resistances, because right now it seems to be completely broken.
I did confirm that the displayed resistances seem to max out at 85. I also confirmed that the Hazard Protection mod for packs just increases all resistances by 5, regardless of the quality or type of pack.

ORIGINAL POST:
Bethesda turned on play options that include what are presumably de-nerfed environmental effects. The system is, at best, opaque. Here is what I've determined so far...

1. It is different from damage resistance in how it works. From what I've read online, DR works as a flat reduction in incoming damage from the various damage types with a cap at 85%. This post on the other forum breaks it down:

The algorithm doesn't seem like it would make sense when applied to suit environmental protections.
2) Speaking of numbers -- the vast majority of spacesuits have a total of 60 resistance spread across the four threats. Packs and helmets each have 30, for a total of 120 for a full suit of the same type. A few, like the Mark I and Gran-Gran's, are slightly better. Individual values for each type tend to max at 30/20/20, for a total of 70 protection from a baseline set optimized for one element. A full set of deep mining gear will provide 70 airborne resistance, for examples.
NOTE: Starborn suits have higher values than this, giving 50 resistance to everything.
Legendary effects can boost a single resistance by 25. Three legendary pieces for a set optimum for a threat could theoretically provide a resistance of 145 versus a single threat.
You can modify your pack but not your helmet or suit to enhance resistances -- the Hazard Protection enhances all of the resistances, but I'm not sure if it is fixed for all packs or varies based on type or quality of the armor. Testing would need to be done for that.
3) Anecdotally speaking based on play, environmental protection appears to be ablative. In other words, your level of protection erodes over time. Your equipment will beep repeatedly at a faster rate of speed until your protection goes away. At that point, you start taking environmental damage and run the risk of afflictions.
The afflictions you suffer depend upon the type of threat, e.g., radiation can result in radiation poisoning or burns. It seems mostly rational in that respect.
The magnitude of the threat can vary. Protection might slowly degrade, but exposure to a potent source can immediately wipe out your protection.
Protection regenerates when you are in a "safe" location. This appears to be inside any building with an airlock or your ship (or when you move out of the environment entirely, e.g., fast travelling to Jemison). The game is NOT sophisticated enough to take things like overhead cover into account. Some POIs don't have airlocks and don't provide cover from things like solar radiation even if you have a roof over your head. (Side note: equipment in Starfield MUST have self-repair functions; you would suffocate the first time you got shot in vacuum if this wasn't the case; I'm going to assume this is a standard feature for making space travel reasonably safe for the average person.)
Weather events can change the threat level. Sandstorms and precipitation can definitely increase the threat.
The actual temperature that appears on your watch doesn't seem to directly correlate to things like extreme cold warnings. The characteristics of the planet, including the need for levels in planetary habitation to settle it, does not seem to directly correlate, either. It is possible that these factors are part of it, but you won't necessarily get the same level of thermal threat on two different Deep Freeze worlds.
4) Again anecdotally, it seems that further exposure can worsen the prognosis of existing afflictions. It also seems like having an affliction can make you more vulnerable to obtaining new ones. Using medicine to improve your prognosis is wasteful if you aren't regenerating your protection, as the prognosis will quickly degrade again.
There appear to be multiple severity levels that apply stronger debuffs as well. The "severe" levels of an affliction seem to replace the lower level. Healing does not change the severity back to a lighter level -- it solely improves the prognosis. You can progress from frostbite to severe frostbite, but healing can't reverse that progression.
5) You absolutely can die from environmental damage. It is not like O2/CO2 damage that stops at 10% health. You can also get persistent damage over time effects that will prevent you from resting or fast travelling.
CONCLUSIONS AND FURTHER RESEARCH

• The environmental protection is not just a damage reduction. You clearly have immunity that is wearing down over time.
• Threats vary in strength, so I think it likely that specific threats have a numeric strength that is in some way compared to your protection. That ratio likely directly impacts the time before you start taking damage.
• Threats can be either ambient, i.e., you're "outside" on a world map, or based on proximity, i.e., you submerge part of your body in water, stand over a vent, etc.
• Ambient effects can change in strength. Weather events are obvious sources. It's possible that other factors may play a role, e.g., solar flares, day vs. night, etc. Additional testing would need to be done (or we get a straight answer from Bethesda).
• It is unclear if there is a threshold of resistance that negates an environmental threat. This is definitely an area worth testing. For example, if my thermal protection is wearing down at 30, would it still wear down at 70 but more slowly? Is there a protection number that is just considered "fully protected?"

WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE

• While we don't need actual numbers, it would be nice if the game would alert you to a weak, strong, or moderate ambient threat before you leave the airlock so you can prepare accordingly.
• Planetary scan data should have some indication of potential threats from the environment. EDIT: Before people chime in with, "it tells you about dangerous water, temperature, and atmospheric toxins," let me clarify that I want something MORE explicit, like "moderate radiation threats common." In a setting with casual planetary travel, it would absolutely be more idiot proof.
• A change in ambient threat level should be forecast with something like, "Warning: Incoming Sandstorm."
• Your scanner should absolutely be capable of highlighting proximity threats. If I'm pointing at a highly irradiated body of water, the scanner should be like, "Dude, don't go in there."
• POIs should have some kind of icon indicating they provide protection from ambient effects. Sarah had dialogue that seeking shelter in a cave can be useful, but entering one didn't allow my suit protection to regenerate.
• Revise the resistances on clothing and armor items to be more sensible. A hazmat suit shouldn't have less radiation protection than an engineering outfit. It's clear a lot of this was hand-waved as not important when they decided to nerf the environmental effects.

Besides rotation swapping and fast one and done super shot. What else do you get?
Before i remember that honed shot basically ment getting a supper shot with 5 bullets worth of damage in a single 1 give or take.
But there has ben 2 passes to sniper damage that dont enhance the honed edge shot.
Wouldnt that mean that basically we "lost" a bullet worth of damage now? Basically its only exoticness now comes from "get the damage out faster to change to something else"?

When I first heard about Nervos Network's dedication to building a BTC Layer 2, I wasn't surprised. That's because the CKB public blockchain technology not only matches but also goes beyond BTC. It not only maintains BTC's native UTXO features but also allows for more complex programmable extensions. While surpassing BTC may seem challenging for CKB public chain, aiming to be a top-notch BTC Layer 2 seems like a smart choice. Why? Let's delve into my take on CKB.

The current BTC Layer 2 market is constrained by the mainnet’s limited validation capabilities, resulting in diverse alternative solutions. The simplicity of BTC's scripting language, combined with its near-zero computation and validation power, has created significant opportunities for market innovation.
As of now, aside from limited transaction validation and multisig functionalities within UTXO unlocking conditions, the BTC mainnet is incapable of directly handling more complex transaction logic involving data validation, state changes, etc. It relegates BTC to an asset settlement layer, relying on extending through a powerful public chain for local consensus and computational validation capabilities.
This leads to a lack of uniform standards or 'orthodoxy' for BTC Layer 2 solutions, making it challenging to rank them.
However, distinctions can be made based on the community's perception between narrow and broad interpretations:
Narrowly defined, only solutions like the Lightning Network state channels and the one-time seal approach of RGB qualify as truly 'orthodox' BTC Layer 2s. They effectively utilize BTC's limited script validation capacity without relying on or minimally depending on external local consensus.
In a more general sense, any extension chain that gains acceptance for its local consensus, along with a cross-chain bridge solution that ensures the safe migration of assets, can theoretically serve as a BTC Layer 2. This includes contemporary Ethereum EVM chains, Solana with its high-concurrency capabilities, and others.
Clearly, the BTC Layer 2 market is divided: on one end are highly-specific solutions like the slowly evolving Lightning Network and RGB, facing substantial challenges; on the other end are broadly defined solutions, where any performance chain capable of securely interacting with the BTC mainnet qualifies as a BTC Layer 2.
But is there a 'middle-of-the-road' option? Yes, and it lies in the Nervos Network, which adheres to the UTXO model at its core, enhancing its performance. Notable features include:
The CKB Network aligns closely with BTC, sharing the same 'UTXO model and mining consensus mechanism,' unlike the account balance model of mainstream public blockchains like Ethereum. The UTXO model has distinct advantages in transaction privacy, flexible transaction structuring, and parallel processing capabilities to prevent double-spending, which may be one of Satoshi Nakamoto’s most brilliant inventions. This is why post-Ethereum projects like Sui and Aptos have also adopted similar UTXO models. Bitcoin's capacity and block speed may be constrained by its era, but the UTXO model is remarkably forward-thinking. CKB adopts this UTXO model, evolving it into the 'Cell model', which preserves the pure transactional nature of Bitcoin’s UTXO model while also supporting the data states found in account models like Ethereum’s.
To simplify: In the Bitcoin UTXO model, the creation and destruction of coins resemble a continuous minting and melting process. The Cell model, however, omits the destruction aspect, focusing on verifying and persistently storing states. Each Cell includes Capacity and Data: Capacity measures the balance in bytes, similar to UTXO, while Data holds any kind of information, including the history of transaction states. Thus, the Cell model can accurately represent balances and manage asset transfers, and also handle a variety of complex smart contract states.
In summary, the Cell model is a more persistent and flexible transaction model that greatly broadens the scope of the UTXO model. It is crucial for CKB’s ability to maintain the security of the BTC mainnet while offering a 'speed boost' to slower Bitcoin expansion initiatives like the Lightning Network and RGB.
For instance, the recent rollout of RGB++ by CKB illustrates this. In the BTC ecosystem, developing a mature RGB solution involves challenges that are not so much about the one-time sealing process of the BTC mainnet, but rather the communication, coordination, and mutual state maintenance among off-chain client validation nodes, particularly in a decentralized setting. In simpler terms, RGB's theory might seem straightforward, but its practical implementation is hindered by foundational infrastructural limitations and various barriers. Recognizing this, CKB integrates these off-chain client validation nodes into its on-chain public validation process. This approach significantly accelerates the intended UTXO client extension pathway that RGB aims to achieve. Complex P2P consensus among off-chain nodes is notoriously challenging, fraught with complexity and obstacles such as potential data synchronization delays or inconsistencies, and susceptibility to fraud and attacks. Transposing this process onto the blockchain can simplify these issues.
With the increasing discussions around RGB++, let’s also look at CKB's Open Transaction data format, showcasing the chain's forward-thinking features. Open Transaction allows multiple participants to collaboratively build and aggregate different transactions over time. It supports partial construction, amendability, and incremental build-up and aggregation. For example, Alice initiates an Open Transaction to exchange a certain amount of Token A for Token B with Bob. The transaction, once started, remains in an editable state. Bob, upon agreeing to the transaction terms, can then add his Token B and finalize the conditions.
It might initially seem abstract. Take cross-chain scenarios as an example: Alice and Bob could independently execute asset trades on various distinct chains, significantly boosting the CKB chain's cross-chain interaction capabilities. In the realm of complex DeFi transactions, where market-driven dynamic adjustments are often necessary, Open Transaction allows contract participants to adapt trading conditions fluidly during the contract's execution. This undoubtedly enhances the ability to manage transactional complexities.
From my perspective, Open Transaction mirrors the UTXO transaction unlocking conditions, capable of amalgamating intricate unlocking conditions, multi-party signatures, and complex transactional environments. This represents an evolutionary and valuable innovation that builds on the foundational principles of the BTC main chain.
Interestingly, Jan Xie, a core developer from the Ethereum team, chose to embrace the BTC UTXO model for his inaugural major project. Despite the broader application of Ethereum's smart contract model, Jan and his Nervos team decisively chose to expand and refine the BTC UTXO model. This choice reflects a deep respect for Satoshi Nakamoto’s simplistic UTXO transaction model and also subtly lays the groundwork for its transformation into a native BTC Layer 2.
In conclusion, I am quite bullish about CKB’s potential as a BTC Layer 2. In the short term, it certainly has the potential to expedite the implementation of projects like the Lightning Network and RGB within UTXO-based chains, offering valuable insights for these 'orthodox' expansion solutions on the BTC mainnet. Looking long-term, the inherent features of CKB's chain and its innovative architectural compatibility may enable it to excel in the complex and standardless arena of BTC Layer 2s.

Hi fellow Singaporeans (little side joke, we just changed PM),
A little context, I'm currently learning at a CDC outpost location. My assigned car has 2 instructors (Instructor A & B), rotating every week.
Instructor A, has been great. Often, if not always, punctual. When I arrived at the pick-up point minutes before the starting time, I often see him chilling in the vehicle waiting. And we will start the lesson early. In addition, he will occasionally teach me things that are "only" supposed to be taught after finishing more lessons into the modules. For example, when I'm in Module 2, our usual change over (ending of lesson) at the bus stop was occupied, he will take this opportunity and instruct me to drive ahead near the pick up point and teach me (vaguely) on how to do a vertical park. Ending the lesson a little early, but never end 10 minutes earlier that the allocated time to end. That is about an average of 90-95 minutes of lesson and 85-90 minutes of me actually driving the car. Which is great, utilizing majority of the full 100 minutes that I'm am supposed to have.
Now, Instructor B is kinda opposite in terms on punctuality. Most of the time, never on time, 5 minutes late while I see the other CDC cars drive off from the pick-up point on time. (Okay lah, 5 mins not that extreme. Close 1 eye). When teaching, kinda by the book. See progress, last lesson cleared S Course, this lesson will do Crank Course and ONLY Crank Course (which is not bad nor wrong either).
But here comes the issue, during his lessons in CDC Circuit at Ubi, I notice he will always instruct me to exit the circuit thru the side gate more than 30 minutes before the lesson supposed to end. Then, a change over before heading back to the pick up point, ending the lesson more than 10 minutes before the end of lesson timing. Even more so, recently, the lessons have been ending earlier and earlier, while being late at the start. At first, 9 then 10, then 12 and more recently 15 minutes before the time the lesson should end. Which means that my lesson is only 80 minutes long and about 75 minutes of me driving the vehicle. If my maths didn't fail me, that's only 3/4 of the full lesson duration for me to drive and only 4/5 of the lesson utilized...
For the record, I'm not being (very) calculative. But when I'm paying close to $100 for every practical lesson, I at least expect that the instructor should maximize as much of the lesson time as possible. In fact, I have been driving slower than usual on the way back to the pick-up point in order to lengthen the duration of my lesson. The recent lesson ended 15 minutes early, and who knows, maybe the next one might end 20 minutes early, and so on...

I dont want to play all Nobz/Meganobz but have a somewhat competitive list. I love my Squigs but they dont really deliver for their cost since Codex release, Not even in their own Detachment.
So BullyBoyz Detachment works great for any list in my opinion due to the 2 Turns of Waagh! I cut out 1 Squad of Squigs and 1 Beastboss on Squigosaur to fit in 5 Nobz with Warboss and Trukk. Now im left with 100Pts. Ive got 3 Deffkoptas but I cant see anything useful they do that Stormboyz cant. So Im thinking about a Squigbuggy but it feels too expensive for what it does. The list including 2 Squig Squads with Bosses played well on a Tournament last Weekend but the Squigs did not deliver the cost and I dont want to go all Nobz/Meganobz. Any ideas?
The Squigs got too big of a footprint with how the unit composition works now. So they get blasted by everything at range as you cant hide them anymore. Obviously they got Rogal Dorned as I played a match against Astra.
