2024.05.29 05:12 RestNester The Problems With The MultiVersus Relaunch
Now that MultiVersus has returned, there is debate as to whether the game arrived with either positive or negative additions to the now fully finished, polished, and launched game. Many argue that the new mechanics have actually improved on the gameplay from the Open Beta alongside other neat additions, while others argue that the execution of the Beta versions gameplay amongst other details were remarkably better than the excuse for a finished game in these people's minds. In my opinion, the Open Beta beats the Official Games "quality" by a huge landslide, and here is why I believe that.
The coloring of the opponent and allies team color on the fighters looks atrocious and weird.
The game has crashed and disconnected over 20 times due to lag that will come at you even if you had the best Wi-Fi and/or Internet on the planet.
If they were trying to make the graphics better with Unreal Engine 5, they failed miserably! Everything looks shiny and gross compared to the Open Betas graphics. "Work Smarter Not Harder" I guess.
The new dash attacks feel very clunky most of the time.
The scrapped Guilds mode sounds a lot better than Rifts mode. They are more or less the same, but the details about Guilds sound much more interesting than what we got in Rifts.
You cannot play as characters you don't own in offline modes such as "The Lab." (They took out the Training map from the game too)
Hopefully everything gets fixed, as I do want the game to succeed and be in the greatest state it can be because right now, everything is a dumpsterfire compared to the very low lows of the Open Beta days. - "The Camera Zoom And Slow Paced Gameplay:" A lot of people seem to be aware of the camera zoom system that was implemented in MultiVersus (Which by the way, cannot be modified to where it is completely gone), alongside the dramatically slower movement. It seems that a possible reason for why Player First Games included this monstrosity of an addition was because of players reporting the spam of attacks in matches alongside the seemingly way too swift gameplay, which of course lead to Player First Games including the previously mentioned implementations in the relaunch, thinking that players would "think outside the box" with attacks when playing. Back in the Open Beta days, there was a little something called "Attack Decay!" Sounds wonderful right? Well, my friend, here is a description of this glorious mechanic; Attack Decay basically made opponents attempts at spamming attacks utterly useless! This mechanic rewarded players who were already thinking creatively when utilizing their fighters moveset splendidly, but it seems that everyone at Player First Games thought that this aid for players who aren't spamming the same move forgot its existence to where it is M.I.A in the Official Game. About the fast-paced gameplay, let me present a question; Do you really prefer the new slow-paced gameplay, or the way the movement worked in the Open Beta? The movement was arguably floaty during the Beta days, but you would think that the gameplay that for the most part did not need any fixing whatsoever (in most peoples eyes) would be perfected by only editing the very small grievances and glitches in this way of playing the game, right? Nope; we would instead get gameplay that really shows the transparency of the playable characters not fitting in the new gameplay style at all (Iron Giants meets the Dexter's Laboratory Map for example) that seemingly only a small portion of players seem to be content with. I am willing to bet that if a dedicated fighting game enthusiast were to playtest both the Open Beta and Official Game versions of MultiVersus, the enthusiast would prefer the Open Beta's almost near perfect fluidity that was fun to participate in compared to the clunkiness of the Official Game that feels like a chore to play through after a couple of matches.
- "The Corporate Similarities To Other Free To Play Games:" From the removal of the beautifully drawn 2D renders in game to make way for the ugliest 3D renders, to the layout of the Fighters menu quite literally being the FTP Battle Royale Locker, to the exclusion of a proper fighting game character select screen, almost everything about the new UI for MultiVersus screams "Fortnite" and "Stumble Guys'" unoriginality instead of a celebration of a company's Intellectual Properties with colorful, vivid, and creative design that actually was in the Open Beta. When you launch a game like Super Smash Bros or any MARVEL VS. CAPCOM game besides Infinite, you can feel the authentic love and passion poured into every single aspect of the game. When you log on MultiVersus, you are bombarded with microtransactions that probably cost as much as a wedding ring when accumulated together. Adding to these problems, fighters who should be carefully selected and handpicked with the intent of being well thought-out inclusions to the roster are treated like the average skin that adds no value to the gameplay in the average FTP game. So many people are fine with the idea of MultiVersus having an infinite number of character slots and franchises one day that could give Fortnite's colossal library of franchises a run for its money, but has anyone thought about the example of not having every participant in a baseball game receiving the big trophy, as well as keeping the roster at a reasonable limit to avoid having the roster the same size as a MultiVersus fan roster on DeviantArt? We have characters like Banana Guard before Scooby Doo, Samurai Jack, and many other characters who are objectively better picks for a celebration of Warner Bros as a whole; and yes, every good fighting game has a good selection of joke characters, but MultiVersus has not even reached the excellence of other platform fighters with their current strategy (putting emphasis on the most laughable and unnecessary aspects of a game) to add a joke character in a roster that has missing combatants that are way more important to Warner Bros history. But hey, Warner Bros and Player First Games have to make that green paper somehow, and they more than likely don't care about the fact that adding a "Passion Project" like Banana Guard before Daffy Duck is a massive slap to the face to people who want beloved characters added to the game that are not treated as muses to sell rubbish.

Alright guys I got this job back in October of 2023 and loved it. But in switching jobs I took a $20k pay cut. When I received the offer I countered and they said gave me an added $2k and said they'd promptly review during their next period (April) and I thought to myself "well I can live off of that salary until that time"
April rolled around and I got a fantastic review. 5/5 across the board except in things I hadn't handled yet. I want to add her that this was a review with 3 people. My mentor coworker, my supervisor and my boss. The review went amazing and at the end they said that the two CEOs would be making the rounds and talking to people individually about how the company is doing and getting feedback. I stated that I wouldnt be in the office the next day or so and that they could find me next week. To me I thought "okay after the CEOs talk to me they'll mention a raise or salary adjustment" easy peasy. However. Two weeks ago by and they're still talking to people (as it's a small office I see people being pulled aside to go into a room with the bosses to talk) and they never talked to me. Now I'm to the point where it seems no longer "acceptable" to go and ask for a raise. (Don't ask me what I was thinking the anxiety and anti-confrontation monster got ahold of me hard)
Now it's almost 3 months later and I still have this shit salary and I am not being paid enough to do what I'm doing. I really just need someone to help me come up with what to say or do to even attempt to get a salary change. They didn't even adjust it for inflaation and I'm struggling. (Please note I can survive on this salary but surviving != Thriving. They're paying me the same salary as someone just out of school and I have 7-8 years experience)
Also want to add that were renovating the office and since I'm involved in some of the decisions I hear constantly that we're 100k+ over budget. So to me maybe they don't have the money? Idfk I know it shouldn't matter but I loved this company when I first got here but now I'm super undervalued and do not give two shits because they aren't paying me well. Please please help. I don't even know how to approach this conversation so far after reviews are done.
*I don't know if this matters but I'm mildly autistic/ADHD so step by step "this is what you write in the subject line of the meeting request" is needed

I was wondering if there are any (cigarette) smokers out there that can tell me if Zep helps them cut back. I quit smoking many years ago but a friend who's been trying to get GLP-1 for weight loss is also trying to quit smoking and I thought it sure would be good if there was something that could help with both!

Today is Lilia’s very last day of middle school ever. Her 8th grade graduation is tomorrow. Today is her last in service day of school. Jess is so sad dropping Lilia off. Jess sent her first born off to her very last day of middle school. The next time Jess drops Lilia off it will be at high school. Lilia’s graduation is not until tomorrow. Today is Lilia’s last academic day of school. Jess can’t believe that this day has come. Jess came to home depot because she will finish the bathroom this week. They have been doing it themselves. It is taking quite a while and is low on the priority list. Jess wants to finish it this week. On the way to home depot Jess remembered when she had Lilia. Jess was pregnant at 17 and had Lilia at 18. Even something as simple as calculating how old Jess would be when Lilia was 10. Jess feels like everyone does that when you first have a kid. Jess has always known that when Lilia graduates high school she will be 36. Jess was thinking about all the memories of Lilia. It dawned on Jess that she is 32. Lilia only has 4 more years left of school. 18 year old Jess thought that that moment was so far away. However it is here and not so far away. It was a blink of an eye. Jess will be a mess tomorrow at Lilia’s graduation. Jess already feels it. Jess is not a crier. (I already knew that. She fake cries all the time but no actual tears come out.) In The last 2 years Jess has gotten more emotional because she realizes more how beautiful life is. Everything is making Jess emotional. Even some movies Jess watches are making her emotional. Jess hates watching people cry because it is so annoying. Jess can’t believe that she is here and that this is happening. It goes by in the blink of an eye and then it is over. Jess still has so much time left. Jess is going to focus on the bathroom because it is getting out of control and is sad.
Jess is wearing Landen’s crocs because they were the only shoes she could find and they fit her. Kyson and Kaden’s shoes are too big. Jess wants to do a retro curvy strip across the bathroom wall. Jess is going to do 5 colors that complement each other and go with the theme. Jess doesn’t know how this will turn out. Jess is winging this. Chris had to come and save the day because they don't take apple pay. After Chris dropped the little kids off at school he came and met Jess at home depot.
Jess doesn’t have too much time because Lilia has a minimum day. The guys are working on the ADU today. Lilia has a minimum day since it is the very last day of school. Jess doesn’t have too much time. The rest of the kids are not out of school today. It is not their last day of school. They have a whole week left of school. They are on a very different schedule. They still have a solid week and a half. Today is Lilia’s last academic day. Tomorrow is her graduation. The following day is when Lilia leaves on her 8th grade trip to washington dc/new york. Jess is excited for Lilia but also nervous. Jess finished all of the cabinet doors and put the paint away. However she forgot a door so she had to put everything back out.
Jess is going to attempt the very first line of the bathroom. The wall is just so plain. Jess wants a little something to go across. Her vision is for it to go up the wall and over the other wall above the light fixture. There is so much space. Jess doesn’t know. She is going to completely wing this. Jess needs to finish off the wall paint. Jess ended up sticking with the darker pepto bismol color on one wall, and the lighter one on the other 2 walls. Jess went back and forth but she decided to try it like that. If she hates it she will repaint it. Jess does hate it but she didn’t want to repaint it and then she liked the contrast. They will see it with the strip on it. The strip will add another element.
Jess just came to Lilia’s school to pick her up. Yesterday they had a picnic outside for lunch. At some point in the day Lilia realized she was missing her airpods. She doesn’t know at what point she lost them. Lilia thinks she lost them somewhere out in the huge grass area. They checked lost and found but no one turned them in. They are hoping they are in the tall grass area. They are not catching a signal through the find my iphone setting. They are still not connecting. It is not looking good. They found them. Jess is shocked. They were buried in a patch of grass. That is a miracle. They were exactly where Lilia’s phone said they were. Jess can’t believe it. What a way to kick off summer. Jess is shook. Jess knew they could do it. Jess is so happy.
Addie has cheer today. Today is going to be a crazy day for Addie. Addie has cheer, then straight to dance for pictures. Landen got his hair repermed yesterday. Jess is confident about it this time because they cut it shorter which Jess loves. The guy that they take Landen to get his hair permed. The guy is so amazing that they started taking the rest of the kids to get their hair cut from him. Chris started getting his haircut from him. This was a really good find. The downside is that he only works 3 days a week so you have to plan for those days. Those days are the days that they have soccer. Landen goes from getting his hair freshly permed straight to soccer practice. Jess feels like it isn’t good but they don’t have any other options. This week their soccer schedule has completely changed because it is the end of the season. Jess feels like it will stick better this time because Landen wore a bonnet to bed last night. Jess is going to get Landen one for himself. Everyone should wear them. Landen isn’t going to practice and sweating it out and he is protecting his hair at night. Landen just has Jess’s hair texture which never has held a curl. Jess got a perm once or twice but it didn’t stick. It went straight immediately. That is exactly what Landen’s did. Jess thinks it also might be a hair texture thing. Even to this day Jess’s curls won’t last all day. It is flat by the end of the day. Even if Jess puts certain products in it it still doesn’t hold like others do.
Mango has been extremely happy. His beard isn’t black, his appetite is back and he is eating normally. Mango started dribbling from the side when eating. The lump has gotten bigger. (Well you decided to stop all meds and let nature take its course. Nature is taking its course.) His mouth is open on the side that has the lump. Jess doesn’t know why. The lump is getting bigger. However Mango is really happy and in good spirits. Mango is eating normal. Jess doesn’t know what to do. (How about going back to the vet and resuming the meds?) They are taking it day by day. Mango is happy and that is all Jess cares about.
Addie has flight school today. It teaches how to do lifts in cheer. Jess isn’t a seasoned cheer mom yet. Then they have to go straight to her dance dress rehearsal.

Mango has been extremely happy. His beard isn’t black, his appetite is back and he is eating normally. Mango started dribbling from the side when eating. The lump has gotten bigger. (Well you decided to stop all meds and let nature take its course. Nature is taking its course.) His mouth is open on the side that has the lump. Jess doesn’t know why. The lump is getting bigger. However Mango is really happy and in good spirits. Mango is eating normal. Jess doesn’t know what to do. (How about going back to the vet and resuming the meds?) They are taking it day by day. Mango is happy and that is all Jess cares about.
Addie has flight school today. It teaches how to do lifts in cheer. Jess isn’t a seasoned cheer mom yet. Then they have to go straight to her dance dress rehearsal.

Hello all, I recently created a character that I would like to attempt making my first full fursuit with. It is a humanoid crab, essentially wearing Halo armor. The head of the character is the carapace of a "normal" crab, and would be at least as wide as my shoulders. But right now as I get comfortable with a few new techniques, I am planning on only making the head for the foreseeable future. I am fairly experienced in sewing, but this will be the first time I have worked with upholstery foam.
I was wondering if that the traditional bucket method would work with this character? Also since the head would be rather large, should I make the head out of solid foam to get the shape I want, or attempt to cut one layer of foam to get the necessary curves? And finally, while this is a very long time off, has anyone "furred" their head with felt, rather than actual fur? (I ask since crabs don't typically have fur lol)

The past year has been extremely taxing, both on my partner and our relationship. I see him oscillating between exhaustion, burn out, and depression. He feels too fatigued to try to create social connections in the program or maintain them from home. He tried a counseling session once where he felt the therapist was dismissive and didn’t try to reschedule. He keeps saying he will call a psychiatrist but often gets out after their office is closed.
I feel constantly emotionally put off. Aside from our FaceTimes for a few minutes every night — often consisting of rants of patients from the day or exhaustion cutting them short- it’s hard to find intentional conversation or activity time. We try to schedule monthly check ins to discuss the relationship, a conversation question each night to connect briefly, etc but usually they’re skipped.
He keeps saying I don’t understand the extent of the exhaustion, and that is true to some extent of course. It breaks my heart to see him this way. He’s put on weight which has resulted in poor self esteem, he says he needs to study and workout and meal prep but can never find the time or energy to do any of those things. I just don’t understand what I’m supposed to do. We’re in our mid 20s, and I feel like I’m clinging onto this relationship in hopes that it will become better in attending-hood. It’s just a long wait with no guarantee. I feel like I barely know this version of him. I want to know if I should stay in this relationship or if it will always be this way, but it feels impossible to evaluate.
Should we try taking a break? Couples therapy? Break up? That hurts me to think about but this feeling is all consuming.

In my dream my significant other, my dog (a dog that died almost 5 YO) and I were in an apartment and I told my significant other look out on the ground and pointed to this huge black snake and small white dog that may have been a poodle. The snake looked scary asf but the dog not so much. For whatever reason though we was scared shitless of both of them and in my head the white dog wasn’t a dog. So I grabbed my dog and held him on my side to keep him from the floor as I stood on the chair. I looked to my significant other and told them to get a knife and chop their heads off. Idk why they didn’t but I do remember grabbing one of our huge knifes and cutting the black snakes head off, while being concerned it would bite me considering I would have my hand close enough to use a knife to cut its head off with. It didn’t though and the snake was dead. Next was the white dog. I again told my significant other to chop the dogs head off and they were scared to. Then did attempt to and basically sliced the side of the dogs neck. It was still alive and looks so pitiful and scared and was looking up at us in fear, pain and with puppy eyes but I just knew it was an evil creature. So I then took the knife back and chopped at its neck and its head was almost cleanly cut off but was barely hanging on. I took one more chop then it was off then I woke up in a sweat . wtf does that mean?

My(37m) wife (34f) and i have been together for 17 years. Married for 9 with a 5 year old.For the past few years, my brain has been hijacked by alcoholism and subsequent depression. Though I love my wife deeply, I allowed my disease to turn me into a nasty,miserable person, especially towards her. She finally got to a point where she went to a lawyer and filled out papers for divorce. When I found out, I immediately quit drinking and checked myself into rehab. I'm 25 days sober currently and have no want or urges to drink, I just want my family back together.
She says she needs space and time to figure out if she wants to try any longer, but it feels like she's already moving on. I'm living at my mom's so she can have her " space," but everything in me feels like it's a mistake to do so. It's such a terrible purgatory to be stuck in. I'm trying to respect her wishes in hopes she does somehow want to reconnect, but I feel by being apart, I'm just letting the distance between us grow.

The lady would fight and shout with literally everybody, from her boyfriend to the street vendors and the maid. They'd hog up all the space in the fridge and refuse to pay for a bigger one. They're always up till 4 or 5 am creating noise in the house.
I decided after just a month that I will be moving out and cannot live with them. April end, I told them that I'd be moving out by the end of May and that they should start finding another flatmate. For some reason they didn't start, and then asked for confirmation whether I'd be moving 15 days later. I said yes. They still didn't look for anyone and only started looking in earnest around last week. They obviously didn't find anyone and are now trying to screw me out of my deposit, saying we have to cut 15 days rent. They want to cut it further saying my cat damaged the walls (it's just paw marks from where he'd jump up on the windows. it can be wiped away using a wet cloth and I offered to do it, but they keep insisting on calling an urban clap guy, which they will conveniently only call after i will leave). The cat likes to climb up on the metal mesh on the windows and there are slight tears. I offered to fix it but they said we already got it done and I just have to give them more money.
Last night, we had a fight and she got violent. When I tried calling the police, she said she'd tell them I tried raping her and we'll see who they believe. I still went ahead and called them. They came, talked to her and went back. They called me 5 minutes later saying they were too drunk to interact with a woman and they'd sort it out later. I'm not from Hyderabad and am completely lost about what to do.
Will the police be of any help? Should I just let it go? Will it help talking to a lawyer?

My seasonal job ended at the beginning of May, and I need some money to stay afloat between now and student loan disbursement in August. I've been looking into freelancing, particularly at writing/editing jobs.
I'm a pretty confident academic writer, so when I saw an ad for EssayHub, I thought I'd check it out and maybe apply. My concern is that it's basically helping students cheat: clients pay you to write their papers for them. (I guess there's also the issue that probably not many people need academic papers in the middle of the summer lol)

It's this really nice sketchbook. No one in my family really draws, so it's been empty for years until I found it. I filled it out super quickly and LOVE IT. It has a super cool look with nice leather, and very high quality paper. I have put so many layers of watercolor and marker in it, and it has not bled or wrinkled once. As shown in the picture, in addition to the regular pages, it has thinner pages in between each drawing page to prevent smudging. I have never loved a notebook this much. The main problem is that nowhere on the sketchbook does it say who made it, the brand, or where it was made. There is literally nothing on it to indicate where it's from. In addition to that, it was probably made a decade or two ago. I know there's no way I can find the exact sketchbook I'm looking for, but if anyone has seen anything similar pleas reply! |

The man would question his wife about where the TV went, and why there was a hyper-realistic cake in its place. However, his wife was just as confused as he was about the entire situation at hand. The man would attempt to report this to his local authorities, claiming his TV had been stolen and replaced with a hyper-realistic cake. Only to be laughed off as a prankster due to his ridiculous claim. Angry at this, he would take his story to the local news station hoping for justice to be served to whoever stole his TV. Once again, his claims were laughed off and published as a mere joke. The man would claim that there would be more cases of people’s items being replaced with hyper-realistic cakes going forward and that they would all regret ignoring his case.
Day 29 Police reports coming from all over [REDACTED] New York would reveal the man’s words to be correct. Starting after a young woman would attempt to open her purse, only for the zip to completely come off upon being pulled and quickly break apart, taking some of the modelling chocolate with it. Soon people would begin reporting all over the area that their items had been completely replaced with cake. Phones, laptops, bags, earrings, necklaces, rings and even stacks of cash were discovered to have been replaced with hyper-realistic cakes. People are getting scared, they're worrying that at any moment, any of their prized possessions could end up being a hyper-realistic cake. Many are dying from starvation, and those willing to eat the cakes are usually branded as “cake people” and killed on sight. My system was apparently installed about 12 years ago. The service people are of course pushing for full replacement, but there are some barriers to putting a new unit.
The attic is very cramped and there's a pipe blocking the only entrance. The person who looked at it didn't think it would be possible to get the new one into the attic without doing something like cutting a larger intake hole or having that pipe rerouted.
I'm also looking to get out of the place in a year or three, I realize it will increase the value somewhat but I doubt it would be enough to compensate for the cost, and also I'm a bit strapped so doing this without financing would be difficult for me right now.
So, question, it seems like it's possible to switch out just the compressor on a system like this, either by reclaiming the existing coolant and finding a used compressor, or getting a new one and switching the coolant with R407c. Is this at all viable?
I do realize this has been asked before on the sub and most of the advice I've seen is to go with the new unit, but I did encounter some dissenting opinions and I wonder if the specifics of my situation might incline things enough for the other option to make sense.
I haven't gotten a quote for either yet, when I spoke with the technician earlier I didn't have any of this information, I did ask about replacing it and they basically told me it was insane and it would be hard to find someone willing to do the work.
