Toshiba BIOS Password lost (oops)
2024.05.15 19:33 KneeOk5922 Toshiba BIOS Password lost (oops)
I have a Toshiba B553/j, but when I try to enter the BIOS setup menu it asks me for a supervisor password which I don't have, but also which I never put . And so, I don't know how to reset this password. I also don't know if the technique of removing the CMOS battery works.
Thanks for answering !

2024.05.14 23:05 ianrobbie Refurbished Toshiba Fire TV - original remote not included - can't get past setup
I bought a refurbished Toshiba Fire TV off ebay but itidt come with a remote. I have a Fire Stick remote and an use it to advance past the language and location enus but it's stuck at pairing the remote. I've looked online and have tried all of the solutions I've found but none have worked. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I've tried - Connecting the TV direct to my router and used the Fire TV app. App won't recognise my phone despite it being on the same network. Holding down "Home" for 10/30/60 seconds (before and after unplugging the TV for 60 seconds). Removing the batteries frlm the remote. Using a different Firestick remote (so 2 x remotes and the app on my phone and tablet don't work)
Any other ideas? I've ordered a new replacement remote but it won't be here for a few days and, judging by what I've read online, that might not work either.
TV is Toshiba 55UF3D53DB. I have the newest Voice Remote that comes with the 4K Max Firestick.

2024.05.13 00:39 FewAnything8676 My pc start but don’t show display
Hello, my computer has had problems for about 3 weeks, there are times when the screen does not turn on, the fans of the GPU, CPU, and power supply turn on but there is nothing, the keyboard does not turn on its RGB, no power reaches the screen either. Seeing myself in this situation, I changed the 2 rams, the power supply and the mother's battery and it worked fine for a while but then it failed again, there are times when I disconnect certain USBs and it works and shows but there are times when it doesn't. Generally I disconnect the cable from the source and when I reconnect it after 5 minutes it works correctly but it is tedious, there are times it turns on and times it doesn't.
I can't restart the PC because if I press the restart button it turns off and the screen doesn't turn on again. I read there that it takes a USB as boot and when it doesn't recognize anything it doesn't start but it's unlikely.
When trying to turn on the PC without the rams it does not emit any beeps.
Thanks hope you can help specs below:

2024.05.12 11:21 AffectionateChard473 Slow Toshiba Charging Solution
My laptop is quite slow to charge, and even when it does, it only reaches up to 80% capacity. Despite searching through the settings, I've been unable to rectify this issue. Do you think investing in a new battery would be a viable solution? My laptop model is Toshiba R94SUS3.

Feel like I am going to regret this because this has been my most reliable Windows PC. I bought this laptop shortly after it was released and its been rock solid ever since. I dont have the confirmation email anymore, but the date on the shipping label on the original box is May 2nd, 2017.
I have done some upgrades over the years. Bought with the crappy 720p TN panel these shipped with and hated it. I upgraded it to a 1080p IPS panel shortly after receiving it. Was so long ago I don't remember exactly what panel it was, but I do remember I researched it a ton at the time to try and find a panel that Dell used in their upgraded models. The display looks great and I’ve been happy with it since. The original TN panel will be included as well. Also upgraded the wifi card to a Intel AX200 Wifi 6 card, and added a NMVE SSD. Battery was replaced somewhat recently. I can't remember exactly when, but the part was ordered direct from Dell. Upgraded from 8GB to 16 GB of RAM.
Specs: i7-7700HQ Quad core processor, 2.80GHz base, 3.80GHz Boost Nvidia GTX1050Ti Graphics card, Intel HD 630 Graphics 1080p IPS Display Intel AX200 Wifi 6 card Samsung 960 Evo 250GB NVME Boot Drive, Stock Toshiba 1TB SSHD Drive 16GB RAM

2024.05.11 18:24 allstar64 Laptop Screen won't stay on and a question about dynabook laptops
Hello everyone. I was hoping to pick your brains about an issue with my laptop. I posted this in
techsupport a week ago as the side bar suggested and got 0 responses so I hope it's alright if I post it here also. I have a really old Toshiba (they're called Dynabook now) Laptop
Satellite A505-S6960. We're talking like 15 years old but it's been in very good conditions and working fine. There were some incidents in the past but I was able to (with help) open up the laptop to clean and/or replace some parts which is why a 15 year old laptop still works. However recently when I went to turn it on, the screen refuses to stay on and I'm a bit puzzled as to what would be causing this. I'm slightly familiar with what the insides look like and could open it up though I would like to have an idea of what I'm doing in there if I do end up going in since at the moment I'm a bit puzzled. Here's everything I know so far.
- Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
- Upon powering on the laptop (or waking the laptop from sleep) the screen will usually turn on for half a second before cutting out to black and after that won't respond no matter what I do. In that half a second I can see it looking normal such as the login screen.
- If connected to an external monitor, it works just fine and I can operate it on the external monitor just fine.
- A few weeks ago, prior to this black screen issue, I began noticing an issue with the screen where it would start flickering, not on and off, but rather between high brightness and low brightness, though it would usually stop after a few seconds and I tried moving it to low brightness to get it to stop.
- I have tried completely unplugging the laptop and removing the battery with no changes to what I saw in bullet 1.
- The battery of the laptop is pretty old and if I unplug the laptop it will instantly give a "low battery" warning and will die shortly after although there is enough time on the battery to unplup the laptop, move it and the charger to a different room and replug it back in without issue. There's never any issue when fully plugged in.
- Since the issue started, at random, when waking up from sleep mode, the screen will work just fine and as long as it is in a "Working" mood the screen will not blackout again unless I put the laptop to sleep although it's been having fewer and fewer "working moods recently."
Because the screen will turn on and be fine for a second always and sometimes turn on normally I don't think it's a connection issue or the screen itself being dead but because I can use an external screen I don't think it's a hard drive so I'm a bit lost on where the issue would be and what would cause this behavior. Any ideas?
Also, if anyone knows, I was looking at Dynabook laptops for replacements and I see that they have some C40s and C50 laptops and I cannot tell what the difference between the two are as their pricing seems to be identical. From images I can see that C50s have a numpad and C40s don't but I'm not sure if this is their only difference. I tried contacting Dynabooks customer support but they literally just responded with "Here's a link where we are selling laptops" and didn't even attempt to answer the question (you'd think they'd want a sale).

2024.05.11 16:14 instagramballslover Questions about the NW-A306
My A105 broke and I'm looking to replace it but I have been considering replacing it and upgrading to the A306. Benefits include obviously battery life and higher quality audio when using streaming apps (I use Apple Music so no longer being capped at 48/16 would be fantastic). There have been a few complaints that I have seen around and was wondering what your experiences have been like.
Firstly, I've heard that there have been problems with the low end and that it is not loud enough or exciting enough. Curious to hear if you've shared that experience.
Secondly, curious to see how easy it is to mod it? I've heard about "de-googling" and did it to my A105 but am not sure if it will be that easy now that the A306 has full Android 12 installed. Beyond that, what other stuff can I do to customize the UI? Have any of you tried that?
Finally, if you have any better suggestions as to products that would better fit the bill, let me know. Just something with similar price, expandable storage, good compatibility with Apple Music and good sound. Thank you all!

2024.05.07 20:13 stoneforgemythic HDD not detected after formatting interruption
Hello world! I bought this 1TB Toshiba external HDD at flea market and it works (albeit only in two specific USB ports of my laptop), yesterday I formatted it but (sigh) the pc ran out of battery in the middle of formatting (NTFS, not the quick one). after that i tried everything but the pc can't read the HDD anymore. I checked in Disk management and there isn't any HDD detected. FWIW the blue light of the HDD turns on everytime i plug. is it dead? what can i do? it was empty, so no interest in recovering any data.

2024.05.07 15:53 AndrewZabar Hardware recommendation needed please.
Before anyone chastises me about there being a million lists online with hardware compatibility, recommendations, etc. that's the whole problem. Too many lists - often conflicting with one-another. Plus sites that are just cloned info from spider crawls, and incorrect info. So......
What I am using now is a Toshiba Tecra from 2011 so that should tell you where I am coming FROM. Honestly, it's been fine except something like rendering a video from OpenShot, for example, takes forever. Also, the battery model is not compatible and I'd really like to go on battery.
My needs are for mostly photo and video related work, office type stuff goes without saying but anything will handle that ok. I plan to continue running Kubuntu, or possibly Debian. Probably Kubuntu.
I want minimum 15" screen. My target CPU is honestly just as fast as I can afford. I've heard over the years opinions on Intel vs AMD bouncing back and forth about what's best. It is my understanding that currently nowadays they're both fine? I don't care as long as it is at most a few years old generation. Like I said I'm working with a 2011 system now and I would like to treat myself this time.
I have no problem changing/upgrading RAM and hard drive. My intent will be 16GB-32GB of RAM, hard drive should be at least 512GB. SSD goes without saying.
The most Linux compatibility is priority. I don't want a system that's designed against self-service, so, reasonably easy access to RAM, HDD, etc. is ideal. I was a tech for decades, so I'm fine with anything other than the ones that are engineered to be extremely tough to service.
I would like to keep the price under $800. I would LOVE to get certified refurbished, but if I can find used from a reputable vendor I would be okay with that. I just want to know what brands/models are best, and what to avoid due to known major issues.
Thank you very much, anyone who can offer even some insight would be really appreciated.

2024.05.05 17:28 benjaminpoole Transparent Panels Reloaded Extension Totally Breaks Panel Transparency Until Reboot
Hi all,
I recently installed the Transparent Panels Reloaded extension after seeing it recommended here and on the Mint forums, since I wanted a way to set panel transparency more precisely than the regular Transparent Panels extension allows (basically I wanted semi-transparent panels). For some reason, however, opening the Reloaded extension totally breaks ALL panel transparency until I uninstall it and reboot my computer, even if it isn't running. This includes Cinnamon & GTK themes that have desktop transparency such as Faded-Dream, or the regular Transparent Panels extension - both just turn the panel black while remaining opaque. Once I reboot, everything goes back to normal until I try to use the Reloaded extension again. Is the Reloaded extension just out of date, or are there standard troubleshooting steps for transparency issues?

2024.05.03 19:30 allstar64 Laptop Screen won't stay on, looking for ideas before opening it up
So I have a really old Toshiba (think they're called Dynabook now) Laptop, we're talking like 15 years old but it's been in very good conditions and working fine. There were some incidents in the past but I was able to (with help) open up the laptop to clean and/or replace some parts which is why a 15 year old laptop still works. However just today when I went to turn it on, the screen refuses to stay on and I'm a bit puzzled as to what would be causing this.
- Very recently and for a few weeks, I had noticed an issue with the screen where it would start flickering, not on and off, but rather between high brightness and low brightness, though it would usually stop after a few seconds.
Because the screen will turn on and be fine for a second I don't think it's a connection issue or the screen itself being dead but because I can use an external screen I don't think it's a hard drive so I'm a bit lost on where the issue would be and what would cause this behavior. Any ideas?

2024.05.02 06:45 Visual_Way7416 How do you tell the difference?
| So I was finally able to afford two (mid/low? Range) DAPs. I have posted abou them before. But this question is just bothering me now. Is there supposed to be a difference between the two (Sony A105 and Ruizu Z80)? Can people tell the difference in sound? The same goes for my Kiwiears and the Soundcore Life p3 Pro, I just can't tell the difference in quality. Is it supposed to be different? Now of course I'm no audiophile and am actually loving using these DAPs a lot. It is more like the Z80 is my main while the A105 is there to substitute for the Z80 fron time to time (battery issue). But I genuinely wonder, how do people tell the difference? submitted by Visual_Way7416 to DigitalAudioPlayer [link] [comments] |
