Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is an emerging game in recent times and also occupies a large position in the hearts of many players. Perhaps you already know Arena of Valor; this will be a pretty similar version to it but with a much more exciting style of play. Hello WalkScapers! We have a lot to cover this time, so let's walk jump right into it!

Wave 2.5

Wave 2.5 will be open between June 1st and June 15th. All supporters before June 15th 12:00:00 UTC will gain access to the game starting June 1st, or whenever you support during this time period. As usual, link your Patreon or Buy Me a Coffee (BMaC) to the WalkScape Portal. We are also planning to rework our integration with these platforms before Wave 2.5 starts. In the past, players had to wait up to 2 hours for their support to be recognized and beta access given, but we are hoping to provide a better experience by improving how this works. We will communicate when this goes live and would appreciate any reports on the new system.

Why not Wave 3?

We plan to stick to our original plan regarding the features we want to include in Wave 3. However, it seems this is taking more time than originally anticipated due to the prolonged struggle with fixing the Android pedometer.
I feel uncomfortable about delaying access for those who've supported our development efforts after Wave 2 until the completion of Wave 3. It doesn't seem fair, so we'll compromise by introducing "Wave 2.5", where only supporters will gain access in a shorter time frame than our usual waves.

New website and roadmap

Brand new WalkScape website!
Our new developer, Myzozoz, has been hard at work, and our redesigned WalkScape website has been released with just a few things to improve further.
Check it out!
The new website has a new look that is now similar to how the game looks and feels. Also, it has some awesome new features:

• You can see when the next wave is coming right at the top.
• You can see the newest development posts from Portal.
• You can see live updating stats about the game. I am personally super hyped about this, and the stats currently include a few fun things from the game plus daily updating steps gained by all of our players in a monthly chart.
• A press kit, trailer video, and more.

And most importantly: NEW ROADMAP (if it isn’t yet available, Myzozoz is still working on it but it will be released today).
In the roadmap, we're including what’s happened in the past, and also giving updated info on what’s happening next. We’ll try to keep this one updated as much as possible. I hope you like it!

Pedometer updates

So, we just released +242 earlier this week, and the great thing is that things are starting to look very stable once more in terms of the Android pedometer.
Just as a recap of why we went through a lot of hoops to improve it:

• The original pedometer for Android in the 1st Wave lost your step count when your phone updated/rebooted. This was not ideal, so I needed to come up with something that could retain your step count even when the phone restarts.
• The new pedometer retained your step count through reboots by introducing a background process for WalkScape that saves the count even while the game isn’t active. This, however, introduced a battery drain problem, especially on Pixel devices.
• I optimized the background process as much as possible, which reduced the battery consumption back to being negligible. By optimizing it, new edge case issues were introduced that weren’t caught in our internal testing due to our limited amount of devices.
• I started to fix these edge cases, and thanks to everyone reporting weird behavior. It’s great that we have so many devices in Closed Beta, as with your reports I managed to start tackling issues. This process was more or less whack-a-mole.
• With +242, we’ve now reached a point where we haven’t heard any serious issues apart from a few that I’ll cover below.

First off, this was a significant challenge from a development standpoint. Google's documentation on achieving this functionality without relying on their services (Google Fit or Health Connect) is… unclear. The fact that each manufacturer and Android version has different permissions and limitations with background processes made the development even more complex.
If you're still experiencing issues with the pedometer not counting steps while in the background, these issues seem to almost universally relate to the permissions you've granted to WalkScape. Currently, I don’t have the time to make the game smart enough to prompt you to enable certain settings depending on your manufacturer and Android version, as that would require a significant amount of work.
Common troubleshooting steps for background step counting, depending on your manufacturer and Android version, are (some of these may not be available/listed depending on your phone):

• Enable Autostart permission for WalkScape.
• Grant permission for WalkScape to run in the background.
• Turn off disabling permissions from WalkScape when it's in the background.
• In your system settings, try placing WalkScape in "Background usage limits" into "never auto sleeping apps".
• Try enabling notifications. You can disable the mandatory sticky notification from WalkScape in notification channels, it's listed there as "WalkScape sticky notification (disable this)". All other notifications from WalkScape are opt-in and customizable through in-game settings, this one comes from Android.
• Try enabling "Unrestricted Battery Optimization" in app settings.

If you've encountered an issue that required special settings to get the background steps working, it would greatly assist me if you could provide information about your device, Android version, and the settings that resolved the issue. This will help ensure that new players are notified of these permissions, eliminating the need for troubleshooting.

Now that the pedometer is mostly stable again, I've been able to resume where I left off, and we've made some progress.
In the past couple of weeks, I've been adding buffs and abilities to the game. They aren't fully complete yet, but the remaining tasks are mostly UI work.

Buffs & Consumables
Buffs are primarily temporary attributes that come from consumables. They can occasionally be gained from other sources too.
Your character can have one active food and one active potion being consumed at the same time (potions will be introduced later with Alchemy). This restriction is necessary to maintain balance.
When you're engaged in an activity and you have consumables in your inventory, you'll be able to select one to be consumed from your inventory while performing the activity. If your activity stops, the items that weren't consumed will not be wasted and will remain in your inventory for later use.
The UI for all of this is still being designed and developed, but I'll share it when it's presentable. We're trying to find the best possible compromise where the UI will be easy to understand and quick to use, while also minimizing the chance of accidentally consuming items. This is why selecting items for use during an activity would be best, as it ensures that the player intentionally wants to consume their items.
Abilities
This hasn't been covered in any previous dev blog!
Abilities are what we call actions you can perform in the game that have some sort of cooldown. The Syrenthia update will include some items utilizing this, mainly this very interesting item here:
What do you think it does?
Some items, and possibly other things later on, can offer you abilities to use instead of or in addition to their typical attributes. When you have an item with an ability, these and their cooldowns will be displayed in a new view in the game. You can also use these abilities from that view, triggering their effect and starting the cooldown.
Cooldowns can be based on real-world time, steps, and actions. For example, using an ability might have a cooldown of 10,000 steps until you can trigger it again.
Items containing abilities will be very rare and unique, and we want to keep them so that they don't add too much unnecessary complexity. If they have time-based cooldowns, they won't make you open the game every hour to min-max stuff.
Both buffs and abilities will be going live with Syrenthia, and I'll share more screenshots of them as the UI gets finalized. Feedback on these is always very welcome!

"Hope, guts and pride" is the name of the coalition agreement of PVV, VVD, NSC and BBB. In 26 pages they spell out what they plan to do. "Whether it's about security of existence, healthcare or money in the wallet, or the availability of sufficient housing, our ambition is great," the four write in the introduction to what they themselves call an outline agreement. "We also want to reverse the far too high influx of asylum seekers and immigrants. We want farmers, gardeners and fishermen to have a future again." The new coalition has broken down the intended policies, many of which still have to be worked out by the future cabinet, into 10 chapters. Below are the main points for each chapter:

Subsistence security and purchasing power

The four parties have agreed that the deductible in health care will be more than halved. This will only happen in 2027, because earlier would not be possible. Now there is still a mandatory deductible of 385 euros per year. That would then become 165 euros per year. Furthermore, the coalition wants a reduction in the burden on labor "for example by introducing an extra bracket in the Income Tax." And the four want to encourage job security, improve debt relief and make child care almost free for parents.

Grip on asylum and migration

As announced, the coalition is heading for the strictest asylum package ever. Thus there will be a temporary Asylum Crisis Act with crisis measures. In the event of a "crisis," far-reaching measures can be taken. The indefinite asylum permit will be abolished and the temporary residence permit will be modified. Asylum seekers who have been rejected will be "deported as much as possible, including by force." Also, asylum seekers with residency permits will no longer be given priority in the allocation of social housing. Automatic family reunification will also be scrapped, and the number of people allowed to chain migrate will be "severely restricted." The agreement also states that the dispersal law is to be undone (much to the chagrin of the law's creator). The new coalition wants to repeal the law, which has already been passed by both the House and Senate. Asylum is not the only form of migration the coalition wants to combat. There will be additional requirements for migrant workers from outside the EU, and "malicious temporary employment structures" will be cracked down on. Study migration will be curbed, including by offering more courses in Dutch, a cap on foreign students and an increase in tuition fees for non-EU students. As for civic integration, the four want knowledge of the Holocaust to become mandatory and language requirements to be raised. Under the same heading is regulation of amplified prayer calls [of mosques].

(Public) housing, infrastructure, public transportation and aviation

Structurally, 100,000 new homes must be added each year. One way to do this is to make more land available for building. "'Adding streets, inside and outside of cities." the agreement states. Procedures to build must also be accelerated.
For people who already inhabit a home, the coalition wants to curb rent increases (in social housing). Of new construction, at least 30 percent on average must be for social rent. For homeowners, the increase in property taxes will be capped. And also important for this group: "there will be no tampering with the mortgage interest tax deduction." In terms of infrastructure, 130 kilometers per hour may be driven "whereever possible" again, including during the day. Furthermore, the accessibility of rural areas must be improved "by strengthening bus transport between village centers in the countryside" and the construction of the Lelylijn, a train connection between Lelystad and Groningen, will continue.

Agriculture and fisheries, food security, and nature

Regarding agriculture, the BBB's spearhead, the coalition wants to "pull out all the stops" to adapt European directives. Efforts are being made to adapt the Nitrates Directive and "recalibrate" Natura 2000 areas. "Aimed at a main structure of robust nature areas instead of 'snippet nature'." The agreement also states that the Netherlands should no longer pursue a more ambitious nature policy than the rest of Europe. The coalition does not want a forced reduction of livestock. Energy, security of supply and climate adaptation

In terms of climate policy, the coalition wants to stick to existing goals, the agreement states. "Only if we fail to meet the targets will we make alternative policies," it says. The climate fund also remains intact. From that billion dollar fund, established by the current cabinet, climate measures are financed. The fund also provides money for the development of nuclear energy. The new coalition is heading for four large new nuclear power plants, and not two, as previously thought. The parties want to focus on more energy independence and own sustainable energy production. Furthermore, the heat pump will not be made mandatory after all. The current cabinet had thought of that, but it has been scrapped. Subsidies for electric cars to be scrapped by 2025.

Public facilities, healthcare and education

The four parties want to strengthen primary care, including general practitioner, district nursing and informal care. Furthermore, working in care (where there is a large staff shortage) must become more attractive. This should be done "by means of more autonomy, career prospects, good working conditions and limitation of regulatory and administrative burdens." There should also be better care for the elderly. In terms of education, teaching methods used should be "proven effective and otherwise politically neutral" and 'Englishification' should be reduced. On medical ethics, everything remains as it is. "The legal frameworks remain unchanged" around embryos, abortion and euthanasia.

Good governance and strong rule of law

The coalition is sorting out a new electoral system for the House of Representatives. Exactly what that should look like remains to be determined. In any case, it should strengthen "the regional link between voters and elected officials." The intention is to have the system in place by the next elections. Furthermore, steps must be taken for a constitutional revision so that laws can be tested against the Constitution. And by extension, steps should also be taken for the formation of a constitutional court to conduct constitutional review (a fervent wish of NSC leader Pieter Omtzigt). There will also be "a right to err". "A single mistake can no longer push a citizen deep into trouble," the new coalition believes. Dunning and collection costs of the government will be sharply reduced. Also, the number of civil servants and consultants in the government is to be cut, and a cut of one hundred million euros has been booked for public broadcasting. Hotel stays will become more expensive because the VAT rate will return to 21 percent. VAT on cultural goods and services will also go up, but not for cinemas and day recreation.

Domestic security

In the area of security in the Netherlands, the four want to strengthen the approach to organized crime. "Greater efforts will be made to confiscate assets" and "the anti-money laundering approach will be intensified." There will also be harsher penalties for serious crimes such as terror and serious acts of violence and sex offenses. The juvenile justice system will be made tougher, including by increasing maximum sentences.

International security

"The Netherlands will continue to support Ukraine politically, militarily, financially and morally against Russian aggression," the agreement reads. The NATO standard of 2 percent for defense is to be made legally binding. And controversially, there is to be an examination of "when relocation of the embassy to Jerusalem can take place at an appropriate time." Most countries have their embassies in Tel Aviv because of Jerusalem's complex status.

Public finances, economy and business climate

The business climate must be improved, the new coalition believes. And so recent tax increases for entrepreneurs will be partially reversed. This includes an increase in the energy tax. The forming parties have agreed to eventually save 14.7 billion euros per year. The same amount of additional spending (tax relief and investments) will be spent in return. On balance, spending will eventually be reduced by 4.7 billion euros per year.

When I first saw The Mandelorian Season 3 trailer, I figured that Din would go to the waters of Mandelor to redeem himself, but would eventually learn the lesson that his Mandelorian clan are stuck in their old outdated practices, and that leaving your helmet on doesn’t define you as a Mandelorian. Instead Din never removes his helmet and never questions the beliefs of his clan. It seemed to me that season 2 was so clearly setting him up for that arc, yet it went nowhere. Din is forced to work with Mandelorian’s who don’t follow his traditions and he and the clan eventually learns to work with the Mandelorian’s that remove their helmets. But Din never learns the lesson for himself. That what makes a Mandelorian isn’t the old traditions he’s been raised in, but your honor and willingness to fight for your people. I just don’t understand why the show stopped short of giving Din his whole arc, seemingly set up in previous seasons with him taking off his helmet more and more as the show progressed.
In my opinion, Ahsoka has similar simple writing mistakes that could’ve been ironed out, simply with another draft or two. To start, it was sorta an odd decision to start the show with a huge conflict we never see on screen. This wouldn’t necessarily be an issue if the dialogue about this conflict was written well enough to portray it accurately to the audience, but we never even get solid clarification as to what happened until the final episode. And not only that but it isn’t even a moment shared by the two characters involved. It’s revealed to us by Huyang when he’s talking to Ezra. What an odd choice, and missed opportunity for character development.
Second, Ahsoka and Sabine’s conflict is simply solved by Ahsoka deciding that because her master stood by her and her mistakes, she should stand by Sabine no matter what. Except Anakin didn’t “stand by her mistakes” he accepted her for them but still scolded her and taught her the correct path to take. I guess we’re simply meant to believe she’s forgiven her, but they never even got a chance to have a seen where she’s upset with Sabine, so it feels like she’s attempting to ignore a very costly mistake. And on top of this, the lesson Ahsoka learns from Anakin isn’t even clear right away. Rather than showing Ahsoka moments where she had failed, and then giving us scenes with Anakin showing his patience and compassion for her even when she makes a mistake, they decided that her lesson can be boiled down to “I choose to live” after Anakin says “live or die”. This idea isn’t clearly communicated at all as none of the dialogue between the two indicates what lesson Ahsoka is learning. What does this mean exactly, that Ahsoka was giving up on her life after she failed. Well that isn’t really true because she’s still attempting to save the Galaxy and get her friends back. So what lesson did she learn? To be more positive and lighthearted? At the end of the show we are essentially told that the lesson she learned was to stand by her pupil, but I cannot see how she came to that conclusion with what Anakin said to her.
Finally, the weirdest missed opportunity to me was that they set up a conflict between Ezra and Sabine and never pay it off. Ezra asks where Ahsoka is and how they plan to get home, and Sabine sighs and doesn’t answer, implying that she doesn’t want to tell Ezra that the decision she made to rescue Ezra may have doomed the galaxy. Yet this is never brought up again, like at all. There’s no way to critique this plot line anymore because there’s nothing else to it. I don’t really understand why you’d even write in a scene like that if you didn’t plan to take it any further. Just have Sabine explain things to Ezra so everyone’s on the same page. I guess maybe it shows that Sabine regrets or is sorry for her mistake, but I think there are easier ways to do that than accidentally setting up a non-existent conflict.
What infuriating about these is that they are such easy things to fix. I enjoy the many of the main ideas and plot lines presented in these shows, but simple things like this can take me out of the story sometimes. The core story can stay intact, even if you make the simple changes to what I’ve criticized. Even shows like Kenobi, which had its fair share of problems, still gave its characters full arcs and paid off everything that was set up whether you like the way they went about it or not. It just feels like they used the first or second drafts of these scripts and never got a second opinion. I don’t dispose these seasons at all, but I am disappointed with the way certain aspects were handled

Important notes: I would like to try to graduate with a double major (communications & cognitive science B.A.) in 3 years. I have one more CMN course before I'm finished with that, am done with me GEs/Topical Breath (besides the UWP which I would like to test out of), and would just be starting my CGS major. Graduating Early is my main goal, a whole year less of college expenses is worth it to me.
I've taken 17-19 units the last 3 quarters and have gotten all A- or better. This includes a language course, that I will clearly not be taking, and that in my opinion is the most mentally draining and time consuming class I could be taking given my major. I also find that it really doesn't take much effort for me on my part to keep up with the classwork of these classes despite all being upper divs.
I'm seriously considering becoming a research assistant (hopefully) - 10hrs/week with options to work weekends
I'm not employed - technically employed by UCD but it doesn't overlap with the school year. I get EBT and have enough money to afford rent and emergencies for the coming year.
I don't really do many extracurriculars. I do have a social life that satisfies me but I really just get tired talking to people, and I would be able to take some of these courses with my friends. I do best will well structured planned ahead schedules, which is why I'm even considering this in the first place.
Is it worth it? Should I wait until I'm not taking two 5 unit soc classes? Are any of these classes particularly difficult? Opinions would be appreciated.
