Hello i had already secured a place at Hempel, including having paid the deposit when I received yesterday an offer to live in Paul Bergsoe for almost half the price.
From what I heard Hempel is the best bdtu has to offer would it be worth asking for a refund and securing a place in Paul Bergsoe, taking into account I will have to buy all the furniture?

2024.05.16 18:19 clitsncigarettes Can my non-refundable holding deposit be refunded if the move in date has changed?

So myself and my partner (UK) applied to rent a property weeks ago. We were told on Tuesday that the landlord picked another tenant so we continued to view other properties. They got back to us today and offered it to us since the person who the landlord picked had decided to withdraw. We paid the holding deposit and sent over all of our references and things asked of us for the checks. We have been given no information on when we can move in, but the property advert stated end of May. I called up as I felt a little uncomfortable having lots of communication from agents then paying the holding deposit and having no little to no response. Upon phoning the agent I spoke to stated they weren't sure if we would be able to move in next week, being pretty much the last week of May. We NEED to move before then and we aren't sure of what to do. Is there a way we can get this holding deposit back despite it being non refundable if the date advertised wasn't fulfilled?

2024.05.16 18:08 no_name_man_2024 adjusted refund amount is higher than expected refund amount

We paper filed our taxes and on May 8 the federal refund was approved and was directed deposited on May 15, and the refund was nearly double what we expected. When I checked the status online, it shows "your adjusted refund amount", the amount we received and the expected amount, which is what was put on the 1040. I downloaded the transcript, and the TAXABLE INCOME PER COMPUTER was significantly lower than TAXABLE INCOME. TOTAL INCOME and TOTAL INCOME PER COMPUTER matched as well as ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME and ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME PER COMPUTER.
We went through the transcript and everything else matched up what we sent until we got to the section with the mortgage interest deductions. TOTAL INTEREST DEDUCTION PER COMPUTER was exactly double TOTAL INTEREST DEDUCTION (the number we reported on the 1040). We have not yet received the notice that explains the adjustment, but it appears to us that the IRS made an error.
Right now the money is in our account and I'm not sure what we should do. Should we immediately contact the IRS, or should we wait for the notice? If the IRS will eventually figure it out and want the money back, I don't want to also have to pay interest and/or penalties

2024.05.16 17:38 phil6298 Direct deposit is missing

I currently have direct deposits setup for three accounts including Yotta. I’ve been deposited in my other banks but not Yotta. I just changed my direct deposit and removed all my money from Yotta. Anyone else have this issue? Also months ago I’ve noticed misc charges on my Yotta account for multiple $100+ charges at a target in NY when I was at work in the office in a different state. I haven’t been to new York in years. I’ve called Yotta and they said they will build a case and told me to call the cops. They never did anything and said they couldn’t refund me.
I hate Yotta!

Hello, first time landlord here,
i did not make good judgement with this tenant. I initally rejected her but she was really agriessive i caved in. i gave the tenant a good deal in this apartment. My mistake was that I did not return her deposit within 14 days ny law, instead it took me a little over a month to respond to her with receipts of the damages that she did during her stay in the apartment. i feel that i may have lost this but also filed a counter claim bc of the damages that she did in the apt and have the receipts, do i have a chance at getting back the money for damages?

2024.05.16 16:58 samy_1980 Understanding Student Expenses While Studying in Germany

Monthly Expenses
1. Rent
Rent is typically the largest monthly expense for students in Germany. The cost varies significantly depending on the city and type of accommodation. For instance:
2. Health Insurance
Health insurance is mandatory for all students. The average monthly cost is around €125, depending on your provider and age. For example:
3. Groceries
Monthly grocery expenses typically range from €100 to €125. You can save by shopping at budget supermarkets like Lidl, Aldi, Rewe, Edeka, or Penny. Additionally, using apps like Too Good To Go can help you find discounted products.
4. Transportation
Most universities provide a semester ticket that covers public transportation in the nearby region. If your university doesn’t offer this, you can purchase a Deutschland Ticket for €49 per month, which allows travel across Germany. Students often get this ticket at a reduced rate of around €8.
5. Internet
Internet costs depend on your provider and plan. Mobile internet plans from providers like WinSim, Sim.de, O2, or Vodafone range from €10 to €20 per month. Sometimes, you might find deals offering 27 GB for just €10.
6. Dining Out and Takeaways
Eating out can vary greatly depending on frequency and location. To save money, it's advisable to cook at home and limit dining out.
7. Miscellaneous Expenses
Miscellaneous expenses, including shopping for necessities like stationery, clothing, and toiletries, usually range from €50 to €75 per month. Haircuts can cost between €15 and €30 for men and up to €25 to €30 for women.
8. Gym and Sports
Gym memberships typically cost between €25 and €40 per month, depending on the facilities and services provided.
Summary of Monthly Expenses:
Total: €800 to €815 per month
Quarterly Expenses
German Radio Tax (Rundfunkbeitrag)
Every household in Germany must pay a fixed radio tax of €8.36 per month, usually billed quarterly. In shared flats, this fee can be divided among the tenants.
Biannual Expenses
Semester Contribution
Every six months, students need to pay a semester contribution to their university, which ranges from €280 to €500. (Depends on your specific uni)
One-Time Expenses
Security Deposit (Kaution)
When renting a place, you must pay a security deposit, typically equivalent to three months' cold rent. This amount is refundable when you move out, provided there’s no damage to the property.

This is basically a repost from my last request that didn't get any response. I get it was high so I just thought I should lower it since it's my first loan. I can figure another way to get the last $100 I need.
I need money to pay for my college textbooks and the online programs that a few of them require. I go to CGTC, our summer refunds get deposited on 6/6. I'm getting about $2k back. I usually can use my pell to order books but they have very low stock during the summer so im having to buy them directly from companies. I can provide proof of schooling, my term schedule, and that I got a refund last semester if that helps at all

2024.05.16 15:09 Toplit Intensive Driving Course Refund Refusal

I booked and paid deposit for an intensive driving course, via a company that specialised in this, on the 23rd November 2023 with further payment to my assigned driving instructor on the 11th December 2023, but am yet to sit a single driving lesson.
Since then I have had driving tests booked but my instructor could not do those dates and asked me to continue the search. When we finally agreed on a date the instructor created a plan for us which included all the hours over a week before the test day. However, a week before the lessons were to begin she asked me if I could change some of the hours around so she could fit in another students test; I declined because I had already sorted out holiday with my work and had previously changed my plans to suit her. She was quite pushy but I stood my ground and eventually found out that our plan was still on. She then asked me to send an image of my provisional license for paperwork purposes, which I agreed to do.
Two days before our lessons were going to start I got an email to state that my driving test had been cancelled. When I reached out to the company that were organising my tests they stated that the test was cancelled "via candidate" on the DVSA website at around 6pm the night before. There were two problems with this; I had never accessed the DVSA website before as I left the company to organise my tests, and at the time of the cancellation I was away from home with family and was not on my phone. The only other person who has access to information to log into my DVSA account would be the instructor.
When reaching out to the company about this, they basically inferred that it was my fault, and when I asked about the situation with the instructor I was ignored. Please note that I tried to call them directly, but they do not handle customers over the phone.
A week or so ago I emailed the company to ask for a refund due to not receiving the services I have paid for 6 months later, and for poor services from them in general, however they have declined my request twice and were really quite rude throughout this whole process. I emailed them last week and did not get a response, and since emailed for a reply and was ignored. Today I emailed and mentioned looking into taking this to small claims and I immediately got a response telling me they will not refund me and will defend themselves if it were taken that far.
I feel like I am due at least a partial refund since I have not got what I have paid for, but I'm lost at this point - Am I really just out of luck and have to eat up the cost? It cost me ~£2k
Please note I did take my theory test which they organised, but that is the only thing I have actually completed so far.
I live in England

2024.05.16 14:23 LakesRed Clubcard Pay+ not being recognised as a Clubcard at the self checkout

Just got a Clubcard Pay+, the one card that doubles as both a Clubcard and a payment card that you top up. I figured it'd be handy as a "pocket money" card rather than having all my pub transactions etc on my main bank account and I'd also use it for Tesco shops of course.
Went to buy an item with a "Clubcard price" on the self checkout. No barcode on the card. I held the card to the card reader, no reaction. Tapped on "Pay" and the card reader said to tap your Clubcard or payment card. Tapped my Pay+ which is both. Got charged full price (confirmed on the Tesco Bank app, the receipt and on the screen)
Asked the staff there literally none of them had never seen a Pay+ card before so didn't know what I might have done wrong or how they work. They had to type in the number by hand and refund me some cash.
Any idea how to use these properly? Do I just have to carry my old Clubcard separately after all?
(I am using the physical card, NOT some card number randomiser like Apple Pay)

2024.05.16 13:33 Constant-Ad5261 Agreed to possibly illegal terms on rental application

I was trying to rent an apartment in Ontario, the prospective landlord asks for a rental deposit worth the last month of rent during the application process.
On the bottom of the application it states that the deposit is refunded if the application is rejected and non refundable if application is canceled when approved.
What happens if landlord just stalls and ghosted me after receiving money.
(Note, this is a legit company)
If I agree to this term, will I not get my money back if landlord just ghosted me? Will I lose the deposit if I request to cancel the application?

I made a post oin the landlord sub but reeceived mixed advice
accepted a tenant on my house.. He has signed the tenancy agreement (i havn't signed yet) and he has paid the 1st month of rent. He is due to move in on the 21st. He hasn't paid his deposit yet. He is paying it tomorrow.
I have changed my mind about the tenant because i have had another renter approach me and offer a higher monthly rent
What can i do here?
Can i cancel the contract by refunding the tenant the rent minus holding deposit he paid (since that was an appliocation fee) i had to pay for referencing etc. so that is a cost the tenant should cover
I keep getitng called by the tenant so would appreciate some advice asap as they say they are going to move in regardless even if i dont give them the key

2024.05.16 12:54 Icy_Way6273 Buyer threatening private seller.

Hi everyone,
I was selling excavator for $38k .I recently sold my excavator on Facebook Marketplace. The excavator was functioning normal and I wasn't aware of any issues with it.
Many people showed interest in the excavator, and most of them asked various questions, which I happily answered. Some potential buyers even came to view the machine themselves.
The person who ended up purchasing the excavator sent me a message saying they had $27,000 and agreed to the price. I was hoping they would ask more questions or schedule a time to view the machine, but they didn't. We then agreed that they would send a deposit, which they did, and the remaining balance would be paid upon pickup. The deal went through smoothly.
The buyer then decided to send a transportation company to pick up the excavator. Four days later, the buyer texted me, saying the excavator had a leak and they wanted a refund or send them $7500 back to fix the leak. I told them that the machine was now theirs, and I wasn't aware of the oil leak.
The buyer then texted me, saying they wouldn't take legal action but would do something else that's not legal action.I'm not sure what to do in this situation. What do you all think I should do?
He is texting words like " it's in your best interests to refund me the money" "it won't be legal advice I will use "

2024.05.16 12:28 AKKKKKKO have not received the refund from the UofG for 1 year

I applied for a Master's program at the University of Glasgow last year, was accepted, and submitted the required deposit. However, I decided not to attend and requested a refund within 14 days. The university agreed to the refund in February 2023, but they have not issued it and stopped responding to my emails.
Whenever they do reply, they act like they're unaware of my previous requests and repeatedly ask for my information (even though I've provided multiple times). I attempted to seek help from consumeradvise.scot, but they only offer assistance to Scottish citizens. I am currently residing in Canada. Does anyone have any advice on how to get my refund? Thank you.

2024.05.16 11:31 cazzayo Things to consider when choosing a nursery?

My first baby (baby boy) is due in July this year and I’ve had a couple show arounds at some local nurseries since we would like to book a spot for him when he starts next year.
I was hoping to get some advice on what aspects of a nursery are important to consider when choosing which one to go with. It’s my first baby so I’m still quite new to it all. Both nurseries we saw had the same ofsted rating (good), and were nice, clean and colourful places where the children seemed very happy. It’s hard to know which will be the better choice.
I’m unsure whether we will be eligible for the 15 hours fee funding from April 2025 (he won’t be 9 months until late April) so we could be paying full price from May-September which is a lot of money. There is a £12 per day price difference between the nurseries which is pretty significant.
Generally, we were more impressed by the more expensive nursery. It was bigger, had more outside space, the children were closer together in age in each of the rooms, and we connected with the staff better. However they are much more in demand. We need to give them confirmation of his spot within one week, and to give them a £100 deposit which is non refundable if we choose to change the days or hours. We don’t know how any of this is going to look yet so it’s a lot of pressure.
Is there anything else I’m missing or should be considering here?

2024.05.16 11:17 starberrybuu I ordered food on Grab worth over 600 pesos but ended up receiving a 44 pesos Yumburger.

I ordered food on Grab worth over 600 pesos but ended up receiving a 44 pesos Yumburger.
I ordered chicken spaghetti, a burger, along with their sides but ended up receiving a 44 pesos yumburger. I asked the rider bakit ayun lang nareceive ko since marami akong inorder. He said, "ay ma'am, sa Jollibee na po yan. wala po ako diyan," so I expected that and said, "okay po sir mag-aask na lang po ako sa Grab".
Grab gave me a refund, but I just realized that the food I received had a receipt from a different location than mine. I thought the rider might have given me the wrong order. Kasi before siya madeliver sakin, it was marked as "out of delivery (your rider is handling multiple orders)". which means marami siyang dala dala na order. Though I understand the hustle of their work, it's a bit difficult for me since my coworkers and I were supposed to eat this meal. Imbis na good for 4 yung meal, naging good for 1 pa HAHAHAHAHAHA

2024.05.16 10:52 Crafty-Reality6005 Is it normal for builders to want payment in cash rather than bank transfer?

Might be a silly question, but it's been bothering me. first home so I've not really got experience with building contractors.
I've lined up someone to fix up some stuff in our garden that needs doing. They seem great, they have great reviews (that look real, photos and all) and they seemed professional when I met them to do the quote. When I told them I'm happy to go forward with it though, the guy said they only take payment in cash on completion.
They're not asking for any deposit, so I won't be paying for anything up front. I get that it's probably a VAT dodge, doesn't really bother me as it's not like it's a huge company, it's a tiny family business, I just want to make sure that we're covered if something goes tits-up and that there's not something I'm missing? I guess I just need to make sure we get an invoice or a receipt? It's not a huge amount of money but it's not nothing, slightly worried about carrying around that much cash when I take it out.

2024.05.16 10:01 Urfuturecpalawyer Just had a record

Don't post on other plarform lol.
This is a long post hehe.
So nagdo-dorm ako sa place nearby my university. Actually, this is my second dorm na kasi medyo malayo at mas mahal yung nauna kong dorm. At mas malapit itong bago kasi literal na kabilang eskinita lang ang university.
If you will see my previous account, I have lots of reklamo sa lessor ko kasi paiba-iba s'ya ng sinasabi everytime na magkakausap kami. Like from free utilities expense worth 2k and so on. Tapos ang hirap sa kanya, nag-iiba s'ya ng terms nang hindi sinasabihan ang tenants.
Last issue was, ire-refund na lang yung deposit ko. Lahat ng usap namin, walang kasulatan kaya this time, I was so eager to have a written contract even if they think na I'm OA and sigurista for asking for a written contract.
Nagpunta ako sa authorities, city hall, and barangay hall.
Kaso she didn't take it lightly kaya nagsumbong sa anak n'ya. Lol, I was chill despite the chaos na sigaw nang sigaw yung anak n'ya at umaamba na, "Magkano ba binayad mo? Bibigay ko ngayon." Tapos yung kamag-anak na pinag-uusapan ako saying na, "S'ya ba yon?" "Yan yung babaeng nagre-reklamo." And bilang makapal ang mukha I said, "Yes po, ako po yun." Then rumampa ako sa harap nila.
I'm not a soft girl kaya tinitigan ko lang sila which I think made them more furious. They even say na this is the first time na pinatawag sila sa barangay para sa simpleng bagay. Which for me is not a simpleng bagay. Nanlalamang s'ya sa kapwa n'ya. Naniningil s'ya ng kung anong gusto n'yang singilin, tapos kapag nalulugi s'ya sa ibang tenants, samin n'ya binabawi yung lugi n'ya. Na hindi naman dapat namin babayaran.
TLDR: Pina-barangay ko yung landlady namin tapos nagalit yung anak n'ya kasi first time raw nila mapatawag sa barangay tapos ang liit na bagay pa. Which is di naman maliit na bagay yung naniningil s'ya ng kung ano-ano.

2024.05.16 09:20 Swe3tnL0w [landlord - Glendale, CA] After a 3 Day Notice, tenant is not curing. They've been renting here for almost 20 years.

Long story short, these current tenants took over as head of household about 2 years ago but they, as a collective family, have been renting for almost 20 years. I have a lease agreement written since 2023 with signatures and lease renewal etc but no other paper documentation of security deposit or identification. These tenants have been known to be 2-3 weeks late on rent so now with their dragged out lies, I want to take action. All they do is sit around, do drugs all day & all night, and ignore my calls/texts. I've issued a 3 day notice before, but they were able to cure it. Now it's another notice and they continue to ignore my messages. The 3 day notice is now expired and I want to take this straight to court, I don't believe these tenants are reasonable for doing 'cash for keys' and I don't want to lead into their lies anymore.
What are my chances of losing this case and what can I do to prevent that? I'm prepared for a lengthy case, I just want them out in the most reasonable way. What I'm afraid of is if they pull a failure to repair case or stating I didn't deliver the 3 day notice properly. They've complained about some minor (tenant damaged) repairs that needed to be done but never addressed anything in writing and I haven't heard anything in a year. As far as the notice , I taped it up on their front gate and sent it via Ceritifed USPS with return receipt. I didn't take pictures of the posted notice though, but I noticed they took it down shortly after posting it. Few notes: they rent with cash and we pay for their water bill. It’s a 2 house property (I live in one and they live in the other) Thanks in advance!
