Secure OCR and Biometrics Integration in Angular

2024.05.16 16:35 Emln-Idera Secure OCR and Biometrics Integration in Angular

OCR data extraction involves extracting text from scanned documents and text images. These include financial documents, ID cards, passports, medical records, and more. Since these documents contain personally identifiable information (PII), securing OCR data extraction is imperative. Moreover, depending on the country you’re operating in, you may be bound by regulations like GDPR or CCPA to ensure data security. This is where biometrics identification can be beneficial.
Biometrics identification involves confirming the identity of a person through fingerprints, facial recognition or iris scanning. It can serve as a powerful technology to secure OCR-based data extraction security.
If you’re an Angular developer looking to secure your OCR data extraction functionality, this guide is for you. In this guide, we’ll explore how integrating biometric identification with OCR (Optical Character Recognition) can create a powerful system for robust security.

Enhancing OCR with biometric identification in Angular applications

Security enhancement

Integrating biometric identification with OCR-based data extraction adds an extra layer of security. This integration in Angular apps can significantly enhance access control, identity verification, and authentication processes.
For example, the healthcare industry utilizes OCR to extract extra data from patient records and automate data entry. This digitization of patients’ documents helps improve patient care and streamline administrative processes. By integrating biometric identification, healthcare institutions can ensure the security of sensitive medical information.

Improved verification processes

Integrating biometrics with OCR has significantly enhanced the verification processes in various sectors. These include healthcare, finance, government services, etc.
For instance, the combination has strengthened the security process at airports. OCR is used to accurately extract information from documents like passports, visas, or ID cards. This data can include the traveler’s name, date of birth, passport number, and ID number. This information helps verify a person’s identity. Moreover, biometrics is used to confirm the identity of a person through their fingerprints or facial detection.
Thus, by combining OCR with facial recognition, airport security systems implement a multi-layered authentication process. This process significantly enhances security and reduces the risk of fraudulent activities, such as identity theft or document forgery.
Similarly, the banking/finance sector can utilize biometrics and OCR to prevent fraud. For instance, a fraudster can get access to a genuine customer’s checkbook and forge their signature. While the OCR will extract the person’s signature accurately, biometric authentication can prevent unauthorized transactions by confirming the identity through fingerprints or facial detection. This means even if OCR successfully extracts accurate data from forged or stolen documents, biometric authentication helps detect and prevent fraudulent activities.

Automation and efficiency

Another benefit of integrating OCR with biometric identification is that it automates and speeds up the authentication process. The manual verification process is time-consuming and prone to human error. This results in delays and inefficiencies.
Users can quickly authenticate themselves using biometrics, while OCR extracts relevant information from documents in real time.
Take, for example, a personal finance management app. Users can scan their receipts using OCR. They can then authenticate transactions using fingerprint or facial recognition. This automation reduces the need for manual data entry and verification. Thus, it saves time and enhances the user experience.

2024.05.16 16:35 MrAnchovy332 Is the player experience this bad on the technical side for everyone, or is it just me?

So, im very new to the game and found it pretty fun, however, i recently had a completely infuriating experience. So me and my friend logged onto Dota, and for some reason i had a 3 minute ban on me, which i dont even know why, since i think the only thing i did was play bad, never even communicated in chat, but no matter, just waited it out, but then when we found a match, my screen just locked on the "requesting player data" screen, and i couldnt do anything, not even open the chat, so when i tried to close and open the game again to reconnect, it would either crash or when i clicked reconnect it would throw me into an infinite black screen with the main menu music playing, and eventually i auto disconnnected and got banned. It was so frustrating i think i might actually quit, what do i do with it?

2024.05.16 16:34 lightpvrple McMaster (Hamilton) vs Western (London) vs Queen's Med

Hi all! Sorry to be making another of these posts but I'm desperate at this point. I was extremely lucky to receive acceptances from all three of these schools and was hoping for any input/advice from current/former medical students at these schools or from anyone who's also been doing research on them.
The two greatest factors that are making me teeter between my options are 1) distance from home (Mac is a lot closer to home and being near to my family is important to me) and 2) 4-year vs 3-year (I'm not certain that I want to do a competitive specialty but I definitely don't want to rule it out - if any Mac students currently in competitive specialities went in not having a clue what they wanted to do and would be willing to answer some questions, please let me know!). I don't love the self-directed learning aspect of Mac but it's not a huge deal, I think I'm someone who can lock in and get things done regardless of the teaching style.
Any and all insight would be appreciated - what you wish you'd known about these programs earlier, any key differences between them, what you like/dislike about them, workload/schedule, observership/research/EC opportunities, etc. Thank you so much in advance - I'd like to make a decision as quickly as possible to free up WL spots (and for my own peace of mind lol).
(Also as an aside, happy to answer any questions for folks who are applying! I never thought I'd be in this position.)

2024.05.16 16:34 Rio-Labs Rio: WebApps in pure Python. No JavaScript, HTML and CSS needed!

Hi everyone! We're excited to announce that our reactive web UI framework is now public. This project has been in the works for quite some time, and we're excited to share it with you. Feel free to check it out and share your feedback!
There is a short coding GIF on GitHub.

What My Project Does

Rio is a brand new GUI framework designed to let you create modern web apps with just a few lines of Python. Our goal is to simplify web and app development, allowing you to focus on what matters most instead of getting stuck on complicated user interface details.
We achieve this by adhering to the core principles of Python that we all know and love. Python is meant to be simple and concise, and Rio embodies this philosophy. There's no need to learn additional languages like HTML, CSS, or JavaScript, as all UI, logic, components, and even layout are managed entirely in Python. Moreover, there's no separation between front-end and back-end; Rio transparently handles all communication for you.

Showcase

Rio doesn't just serve HTML templates like you might be used to from frameworks like Flask. In Rio you define components as simple dataclasses with a React/Flutter style build method. Rio continuously watches your attributes for changes and updates the UI as necessary.
class MyComponent(rio.Component): clicks: int = 0 def _on_press(self) -> None: self.clicks += 1 def build(self) -> rio.Component: return rio.Column( rio.Button('Click me', on_press=self._on_press), rio.Text(f'You clicked the button {self.clicks} time(s)'), ) app = rio.App(build=MyComponent) app.run_in_browser()
Notice how there is no need for any explicit HTTP requests. In fact there isn't even a distinction between frontend and backend. Rio handles all communication transparently for you. Unlike ancient libraries like tkinter, Rio ships with over 50 builtin components in Google's Material Design. Moreover the same exact codebase can be used for both local apps and websites.

Key Features

Target Audience

Rio is perfect for developers who want to create web apps without spending time learning new languages. It’s also ideal for those who want to build modern, professional-looking apps without stressing over the details.
We welcome your thoughts and questions in the comments! If you like the project, please give it a star on GitHub to show your support and help us continue improving it.

2024.05.16 16:33 JoLem951 Questions from a newbie and manual reduction

Hi
I had tmj pain a few years ago (headaches, earaches, joint popping and ear closing, tinnitus, hyperacusis) My dentist said I was grinding my teeth at night so I worn a bruxxism mouthguard + regularly massaged my jaw and these symptoms pretty much faded for a few years. But after a while my mouthguard started disturbing my sleep so I stopped wearing it and didn't think about it again for some time. (I had other health issues at the same time)
Now since last year I've been having moments where my jaw slightly locks (or "pre-locks") along with rdm stuttering and gradual hyperacusis. Eajaw pain as well. Bruxxism or tmj didn't come to mind because I've got a lot of shit going on and believed it was related to something else. I do remember gently pulling my jaw back into place at some point a few months back (no popping).
Three days ago after massaging my right ear and yawning, my jaw felt slightly loose and painful on the right side. The opening is slightly reduced and my bite feels off. (upper and low teeth don't meet as they should). So I went to the dentists again. Had a x-ray and they told me there's nothing they can do because it's a joint/muscle issue and that I should actually go see a physiotherapist. (and that it would probably get better on it's own) My questions are :
  1. Did the x-ray actually prove anything in regards to what's going on ?
  2. It's been 4 days and Im getting anxious about letting my jaw in that position but I don't wanna cause more trouble by manipulating in the wrong way. Does it get worse the longer it goes on and is there a need for a manual reduction ? Or should I just try to relax the muscles/reduce the inflammation ?
  3. I believe I faintly remember a few years ago my ex dentist holding my jaw while asking me to pull away (or pulling in). Is it dangerous to try to gently put your jaw back into place by yourself/do a manual reduction ? There's supposedly another technique with a big syringe/pencils, does anyone have experience with that ?
  4. Should I put my mouthguard again every night ? Or could it make it worse ?
  5. If I see the pt, is he supposed to start manipulating my jaw/joints without further imaging ?
Thank you guys

2024.05.16 16:30 ShamanIsAGoodClass Should fishing rods be sold with more information?

This is coming from a bass fishing perspective.
I think most fishing rod store pages are missing three key things.
First one is rod weight. To me there’s almost no bigger differentiator between sub $200 rods than the weight of the rod. If I’m looking for a rod for a technique that requires twitching and lifting then I’ll always pick the lightest one.
Second one is rod balance point with a reel of a specified weight attached. I think this is the most crucial one. Here’s how they can do that. First, attach an unnamed 6oz, 7oz, or 8oz (whichever weight is the average of what’s sold) to the rod. Second, find the balance point. Lastly, record how far the balance point is from the locking nut or end of the handle, end of handle being the top end of the reel seat.
It’ll look like this: Balance Point (with 7oz reel attached): 1.25” from handle. The rod brands that also sell reels, like Lew’s, could instead have it like this: Balance Point (with Lew’s Pro-Ti attached).
Lastly is demonstration of the rod blank’s action and bend. Have embedded videos that showcases this or images of the rod at different levels of bend. Omnia is doing action demonstration videos with select rods and I hope they expand on it. I also believe some jdm brands do this with images.
What do you guys think?

2024.05.16 16:26 Few-Awareness-2809 GAME GOT HACKED WTF

OK so basically, I bought the game to play with my buddy and we went hard for about 70 hours, character was about level 90 when it happened. We were rocking through nokstella getting invaded every 3-4 minutes(the invasion system need major improvement, like the ability to turn it off among many other things)
Last invader of the night jumps in, is glitching all over the place, telpeporting, whatever. We get ready to fight, and my screen goes black. Opens to a cutscene where I wake up in a ruined lyndell with everything on fire. No idea how/why/what is happening. Steam achievements popped saying I beat Malaketh and Some flame giant.
So now I'm stuck at low level at endgame, I hadn't reached the mountains yet, so can't fast travel and zero way to get there on foot, the area is just beyond my ability to reach meaning I'm locked out of content (and higher bell bearings) forever, and my buddy can't be summoned in most areas because the game thinks I beat those areas already.
Created a Bandai Namco account and filed a service ticket to fix it, and they asked me the offending players steam name, like tf how would I know that??? Then they told me their only suggestion was to DELETE MY SAVE DATA and Uninstall the game. LIKE WTF??? they said they cannot fix or even alter the data (I said I would be fine with just one mountain travel point) just completely useless no help at all. If a random kid can hack my game and fight at the same time, they should be able to handle it, but no.
Just really pissed off feeling like I wasted my time now, thank you for listening to me vent

2024.05.16 16:26 ChannelAb3 How I Wonder What You Are by Al Bruno III

How I Wonder What You Are by Al Bruno III

I’ll know the time is right when the howling begins. It will be after sundown of course, the Mothers and Fathers of Jebsen only scream after sundown, and only on the clearest of nights.
There is no town of Jebsen listed on any map, even in its heyday of the 1940’s it was too small to be worthy of notice. It’s nothing more than a collection of buildings at the end of a dead end road. On one side it is bordered by long untended corn fields, on the other the swampy remains of Lake Campbell. The most noticeable of the town’s buildings is a red brick edifice with a wide domed roof of fractured glass. The rest is just barns and single story homes. Along the border of the swamp is row after row of barbed wire and bear traps.
I’ll let them scream for an hour or so, let them become tired. Even now it amazes me how I had learned to pick out the individual voices in the cacophony. The Widow Toth tires easily but the Garrets will be at it until dawn.
And what will I be doing while every able-bodied adult is on the rooftops? I’ll be slipping these pages into this mason jar and sealing it lid in place with the wax from a melted crayon. The Children of Jebsen won’t miss just one, especially not purple.
Twenty-five years ago a calamity befell the town of Jebsen. The authorities blamed it all on the after effects of an experimental insecticide but the Old Book the town elders read from every Sunday said otherwise. It told the citizens of Jebsen that a curse was carried by those twinkling dots in the sky. A malevolence traveling at 186,000 miles per second that would twist their Children into nightmares should a glint of it ever touch their skin.
That is why they scream at the starlight; hating it, cursing it, raging at it.
You can’t see what their Children have become and not feel the same way. The changes are heartbreaking and horrifying all at once but after you spend time with them you feel differently. There is mockery in the mis-set eyes that peer from those mollified skulls.
They know secrets. On quiet, cloudy nights I would put my ear to one families’ basement door or another and hear them murmuring and giggling as they writhe in their basement styes.
I think of their weeping mouths and soft teeth and remember that day half a decade ago the ill-advised shortcut and along the neglected county route 99. I remember approaching the train bridge and seriously considering turning around, it looked decades out of repair and I half suspected it would collapse as I passed under it.
But I didn’t turn back, my ego wouldn’t let me. I was right and the road was wrong so I drove under the train bridge, momentarily marveling at the strange and elaborate graffiti that covered it.
I was just past the structure when a small, bent figure ran out from the long grass.
The sounds are what I really remember; the squeal of the brakes, the thud of the body on the hood of my car, the thick crack of laminated glass.
I would later learn the name of the child I had hit was Julius McCarty but all I knew then was that there was an emaciated, bloodied shape lying halfway through my windshield.
Human instinct made me reach out, to see if the little boy was alive. When my fingers brushed his skin he twisted around to face me. His mouth lashed out proboscis-like and nuzzled into the flesh of my arm.
Pain bristled out from where the boy had latched on to me. I screamed, thrashed. I shoved the car door open and tumbled out onto the asphalt. The boy coughed once and died.
At first the wound held all my attention. How could it not? I had expected to see torn flesh and blood but instead the boy’s distended mouth had left behind a cluster of thick, festering ulcerations.
But then I became aware of the men making their way out of the tall grass. These were the Fathers of Jebsen understood immediately what had happened.
They had brought everything they might need to bring one of their Children back home to its basement; rope, bandages and cudgels. It was also everything they needed to make a captive of me.
They, dragged me away from the accident site, through the tall grass and over the collapsed remains of a chain link fence to leave me in the care of the Mothers of Jebsen. Those gaunt women had cudgels of their own and I was a mass of bruises and welts by the time the hole in the Earth had been made to their standards.
The menfolk returned carrying the child wrapped in a linen shroud. They dropped it roughly into the ground. There were no ceremonies, tears or headstone. It was well after dark by the time I had filled the grave back in.
Now here it is years later and I’ve had to dig a dozen more graves, one by one the Mothers and Fathers are dying out, it’s always a surprise when it happens. Every mother and father of Jensen is withered and white haired but every year a few more die in their sleep, or at work in the fields or at prayer in their red brick observatory.
The Children are dying too, not a one has ever lived past seventeen. One by one they waste away, except of course for the occasional accident like the one that trapped me here.
Despite these curse that has befallen them the people of Jebsen continue to reproduce, each mother convinced that this time she will give birth to the Great Redeemer as was foretold in the Old Book. Each time they fail and each time the result is locked away in it’s family’s basement.
You can’t imagine those basements, the smell of rotten meat, the ankle deep fecal matter and the perfectly clean toys. They draw equations on the walls, gold and silver crayons are their preferred color. Every Tuesday I have to visit each of those cellars and scrub the theorems and postulations away.
The youngest of the Children is a newborn, still angry from the womb, the oldest is seventeen and nearly rotted away. No matter the age they all taunt me as I work, sometimes with bites, sometimes with maledictions. Both have left unimaginable scars.
So many scars now, I’m marked, I could never walk among the people I’d known before. They’d refuse to recognize me and insist I was a stranger
The Widow Thoth says this is my penance for the death of Julius McCarty, she even went so far as to cite chapter and verse on the subject from Old Book itself. The Mothers and Fathers of Jebsen, base every aspect of their lives on that thick volume of prophecies and homilies.
I wonder if anyone will notice me as leaving. I doubt it, even when they’re not screaming their heads off a long dead suns they barely notice my comings and goings.
As I said before, the Mothers and Father’s of Jebsen have become so sure of me. Some families think I’ve become a true believer, the rest think the cinder block chained to my ankle is enough to keep me in my place.
I don’t know who you are or when you’ll find this message. My only hope is that you will believe me. If you do, please bring this document to the proper authorities. Don’t let my death be for nothing.
I go to the bottom of the swamp with two regrets. One is that I won’t be there when the town of Jebsen is discovered and burned to the ground.
The other is that six months ago I accepted Father Garett’s invitation to join in their celebrations. I went willingly with them to the old brick observatory. I prayed with them. I danced with them. I partook in all of their debasements.
And for a little while, perhaps an hour, I was happy.
They even asked me to give reading from the Old Book. I eagerly stopped up to the podium and began flipping through the thick volume.
Everyone waited for me to choose a passage and speak but all I did was shake and weep at what I beheld. My knees buckled. My mind shut down. I had to be carried out and put to bed.
You see, the Old Book was blank from cover to cover. You’re even holding some of those pages in your hands now.
I used them to write my story.

2024.05.16 16:26 radss29 Lock-in contract in employment

This reddit post was already posted to AntiworkPH but I need some legal queries kasi medyo naguguluhan ako kung iaccept ko pa yung offer or not. As the title says, normal lang ba na may lock-in contract ang ibang mga company? I was interviewed and sabi ng HR and one of the director na may lock-in contract daw sila, meaning once na mahire ako hindi ako makaka-alis sa company for 4 years. I was like, seryoso ba ito? 4 years ang lock-in. Nung nag-apply ako sa company na to way back 2018 is wala naman silang lock-in thing sa employment. I was applying for an accounting associate and yung magiging nature ng work is halos pang-accountant/CPA level na kasi nga wala pa daw silang nahi-hire na CPA. To make it worst, minimum lang din ang sahod, OTY kapag OT.
Normal lang ba talaga na may lock-in contract sa employment? Paano yung rights ko na iterminate yung employment ko sa company? Wala naman akong problema sa rendering kasi part naman yun ng pagresign sa work.

2024.05.16 16:25 brayvi shy or uninterested?

Mainly coming from my gut, F(20) it tells me this coworker has secretly been into me M(22). For a good 8 months.
Is that possible?
He’s a gentleman. Attempted to fix my tire and ended up giving me a ride home. I didn’t ask but I did complain a little about the stress and he offered his spare. Wasn’t compatible. So he offered a ride home.
Will be sweet at times and soft voiced. Very shy type, I low key or intimidate him in some way, hopefully in a positive light. He treats the others like homegirl/boys, but me, he stutters and breaks eye contact out of nervousness. We can’t even hold a conversation. If so, it’s forced and awkward.
I can tell he loves my eyes, by the way we just stare a little few seconds too long. Or maybe time just feels freezed. Our intense contrasting eye colors strangely intensifies the eye lock. He loves to take a good four seconds to respond before I ask him a question. Prolonged. Eye contact.
Got them just locked sometimes and its enough to leave me questioning, does he want me
Anyways, after my crush manifested I began to observe him a little.
He always needs to say bye to me. (Strange thing he does) compliments people around me when the compliment was obviously meant for me . Ex. said his homeboy smells like vanilla and has a mysterious aura. (I wear heavy vanilla perfume, i’m quiet asf and he isn’t gay just saying. His friend is the complete opposite as the description) BUT WHY if this is meant for me, is it said to his friend ?
Shy around only me. He treats me very different from others girls and easily chat up a storm. Funny enough, he’s a mute for the most part around me. He will talk confidently loud to his friends, but the moment I try to start a convo he cuts it short. And shows obvious signs of nervousness that wasn’t previously shown around the other girls.
The bad side of him is the jealousy i’ve noticed. Anytime we got new male coworkers he keeps me away after them, demanding me around if he noticed me talking to them. And giving me silent treatment after I talked to them.
Another strange thing he did was attempt to insult me if I somehow “hurt his feelings” Ex. I called him his brothers name on accident (they sound the same) and i didn’t apologize because social anxiety and busy w/ work during the shift.
And before he left to say goodbye he intentionally pauses long and turns staring at me stating “I forgot your name for like one second..” after saying my name like 10 times while demanding me the whole shift.
I can’t seem to understand why he got so upset over this? Was he being sarcastic? Why would he get that offended or petty? Does he like me?
Just weird part is we’ve been working together for almost 8 months now. Why no confession, I am just left with this agonizing gut feeling and a longing of just satisfying the tension in some way with an answer.
I know he thinks i’m cute , I think he’s cute. If he likes me he needs to grow pair, or stop with the unnecessary avoidance and random micro flirting. Hoping he’s just shy! But main question, why not make a move?
He does seem like the shy one, but still it’s driving me crazy wondering.
What do you think? Doesn’t like me? Does and is nervous? Please leave your ideas i’m confused. Need other view points, thank you

2024.05.16 16:24 bopete1313 Deciding between something like supabase and AWS for our pre-seed startup (we need database NOW)

Hey guys,
We are a pre-seed startup needing to have our server side built out FAST. Originally we were locking ourselves into AWS because we had a bunch of startup credits but those expired (didn’t know they expired at the time).
After exploring setting up multiple environments with their own PostgreSQL database in AWS, I’m worried. It’s super tedious and seems expensive and requires CDK, bastion hosts, vpc, internet gateway, etc etc.
Without much experience with AWS I feel like things could go very wrong. I also think that we really need a CRUD ui for our database to make managing data easier.
Do you think supabase would be a better choice?
Our needs are going to be like maybe 1000 api calls per day for now, growing to maybe 10,000 api calls in a year. Nothing crazy. And nothing that requires low latency currently.
Thanks in advance.

2024.05.16 16:24 nutzrgut Questionable choice?

In the sola dlc theres this festival area that we have zero access to and i find it very weird why they chose to lock it away. Its clearly been designed,put/programmed into the dlc even added it into the map just for us to only be able to look at it could it have maybe been rushed and then they ran out of time so they had to scrap it? What do yall think?

All feedback on tunes is appreciated - good or bad. Specially when tunes are bad. At the end of the day I am just the mechanic and you guys are the racers. Do not hesitate irrespective of your tuning knowledge or racing skills!
Tuning method: 1. Stock look - stock wheel rims and size, no aero (unless absolutely necessary for handling and stability) 2. Tuned for automatic/manual players by not skipping clutch+gearbox upgrades 3. Max performance with max handling possible 4. All cars tuned vs. Unbeatable AI, tracks/weather conditions are now unknown since time travel no longer works. Since release AI has been inconsistent between many car types and weather conditions, not every car will win 10/10 races vs Unbeatable AI without rewind/restart abuse 5. 2024.05.16 16:23 ShaneFerguson Reason not to have TMobile for both cell phone and home internet

I'm a longtime TMobile cellular customer who signed up for TMobile home internet after getting upset with Cablevision for the 100th time. I could have moved to Verizon but I was curious about the TMobile tech and was loving the price lock guarantee so I signed up.
Talking to a coworker today I realized that there was something I didn't consider when making my decision. He explained that his ISP was having an outage so he was getting his Internet access by tethering to his cell phone. By having two different providers he has redundancy built into the system. In my case I think that if TMobile home internet is down that it's also likely that data connections through my phone would be down as well.
Is my reasoning on this correct?

2024.05.16 16:23 GiantJupiter45 So, I finished Tideman... very fast. I'd like to give some suggestions to the ones solving it.

Tideman... the most hyped problem in the entire course of CS50x.
I tried to do it... and I could complete it relatively faster than others, but it was challenging nonetheless. Also, a very important note:
You can take as much time as you want, you can even solve Runoff (though I haven't looked at it till now). Only one thing: please DON'T think that some XYZ guy solving Tideman within 7 hours is implying that you need to do it too. Obviously not. Take your time...
This pset is challenging but it can even open an amateur coder's mind. I understood what Graphs are from this very pset.

Preliminaries

I want to say, understand structs very carefully if you have coded in Java and are learning C. For those who are getting to know about these algs recenty (applies to Python coders too), understand it thoroughly first. Also, if possible, write the algs which you are confused about. Like, try to use some website or stuff, or even ChatGPT (what I am about to say is reasonable) to understand how the alg works (NO DIRECT CODE), like certain analogies.
Anyway, the things that are hard in various algs are as follows:
Before understanding Tideman, please have a strong grasp in any of the sorting algs. Understand why the conditional is there, because the conditions will be different for this problem. You can even solve the hardest sorts if you know what the conditionals do in your sorting alg.
Also, recursion is really worth learning independently. Solve some problems you are trying to solve using iteration. Try to check whether something is a prime number using recusion. Try to do anything you have solved/can solve using iteration.
Recursion is just mathematical induction (for those who know maths): it's just dominoes falling. You need to check what will happen when the first domino or the last domino will fall (base case), and ensure that if a domino m is falling, ensure that the domino m+1 is falling too (recusive case).
Please watch the shorts and section for this week, in case you don't understand anything. Check for the materials you don't understand.
Also, PLEASE do the additional practice problems of week 3. There's no check50 or submit50 for these problems, you can check the results for yourself. Even as a experienced programmer, I'd recommend taking these baby-steps before trying to attempt Tideman. See, even if you did Java or Python before and you feel like finding the max value or making a WHOLE MENU is tiring, these are very easy problems, which are important for solving the later ones. For example, I was thinking, "Why just take the value? Why not take the index?" Then when I was trying to solve the Plurality pset, I realized that they were trying to tell us that there can be multiple winners... anyway...

Tideman

So, you've completed Sort, Plurality and, possibly, even Runoff and all the other psets... and you're trying to attempt this.
1) Open the walkthrough video/the pset page.
2) For newcomers, write (about) all the variables and their functions “in brief”. Or just look at the distribution code or the pset page. These are very essential, and you’ll have to refer to them frequently.
3) When the walkthrough video comes to the functions part, we’ll start focusing on THAT FUNCTION only. As David Sir said throughout the course till now, abstraction is the key. Like, think of only that part of the main method where a particular function has been implemented, how that part has been treated... Just don't think about the other functions you’ll have to do. JUST do that part and return accordingly. Write pseudocode like you’ve done throughout the course.
4) If you want, you can reuse the codes you’ve written…
Let's talk about what we can do in the individual functions:

Key Takeaways

If you haven't done the problem, don't read the section, you’ll lose interest/get confused.
This is probably one of the best examples of backtracking I’ve EVER SEEN. I could never do backtracking until now. This feels more like an intermediate-level competitive programming problem… except the fact that the problem is explained a lot. I myself neither implemented graphs nor backtracking before, so I was… confused while doing locked_pairs. Also, I’m very very bad at competitive programming, please don't think like I’m some experienced developer or something,; I’m just an amateur guy doing big projects once in a while…
Anyway, it was an amazing problem. Anyone can learn a lot from this pset.

2024.05.16 16:23 ChannelAb3 How I Wonder What You Are by Al Bruno III

2024.05.16 16:21 ChannelAb3 How I Wonder What You Are

2024.05.16 16:20 Queen_MujerM Need some support

So I have been on Trini for about 2 months & I am at 10mg. I honestly don’t know if I should up my dose to 15-20mg. I have anxiety that basically got pretty bad last year. Like I get intense physical symptoms (numbness/tingling in body, arms locking up, even can’t talk cause my tongue felt like it was swelling even if it wasn’t) lately I’ve noticed I have just been having rough weeks. I woke up exhausted sometimes due to intense dreams. I haven’t had any panic attacks (which is when the symptoms get the worse) since November 2023 when my anxiety got bad. First I was on lexapro but the side effects sucked, then I started Trini in March 2024. But now it’s like I’m always exhausted, sometimes I feel like I can’t take full deep breathes. It also feels like lights can bother me cause of brightness. Also Trini was prescribed to me for anxiety due to less side effects. I also feel very spacey sometimes like so out of it.
Also i talked to my psych like back in April he said we can either keep the dose or up it, it was primarily up to me cause I was a bit resistant to medication for myself. I am also scared of the side effects of upping my dose. I just feel like I still have anxiety especially physical symptoms like tingling in my body & tight chest. I am not expecting any type of professional medical advice here. I am merely asking for support, experiences & opinions. Thank you. Sending everyone who is struggling a hug
