im making this post on a throwaway account to avoid any family input or what have you. i want to start off by saying the dog i mention in this post has been close to me and my partner since my mother brought him home about 2 years ago and the reason for this is simply because we have been taking care of and raising him like he was ours since she got him because all she wanted him for was so that she could look cute with him on social media (where she basically lives digitally). about a year after she got him problems had arised in the household mainly because of me, i had just got back to her house after spending 2021 back in my hometown three hours from where we lived after she kicked me out of her house for questioning her on account of a current gf i had at the time (who did start the issue and waited until my mom kicked me out to come clean). it was fine with me i took that on the chin because at the end of the day i was wrong for coming at my mom for assuming she didnt like my partner bc she was white. fast forward a year later about early 2022. and we talk about our bond and she says i can come back and get myself together because she knew i was in a fucked up situation financially where i was staying. i come back to her house in 2022 and she had told me before i even came back that she just wanted me to focus on myself and not worry about her bills. i wasnt eager to go with this decision but it was smart considering i was basically starting from scratch with life in general. got a job not too long after i got back and met my current partner (we'll call her beck). beck is white while me and my family are black and trust me this information is important. beck comes into the picture and we hang out more and she starts coming over some days hanging out in my room and i went to her house twice because her mother kept the place in shitty conditions and basically tried to downplay her own daughter right in front of me both times. i could tell beck had issues with being home and she too was in the process of getting her life together without even saying any of this. so i knew being with me in my room at my moms house was her only escape. mom for random reasons started having issues with beck cleaning the house for her while she was at work or taking care of the dog in a way my mother didnt approve. then it graduated to beck "stealing" money from her but her never having the proof or the funds to back it up to begin with. my mothers partner at the time of like 8 or 9 years who we'll call randy was cool as hell but somehow never managed to avoid fighting with her verbally. this went on the whole time i was there and randy ended up leaving and they broke up. problem was randy left right around the time i started fumbling with my jobs and needing to look around. now i wanna say im no saint, i spent my time searching for jobs AND gaming bc im a gamer. problem was i was taking too long this time around and theres no excuse. she started turning the heat on me and my partner once randy left and i started getting fed up because she was now asking for rent money while belittling me and my partner for being "laid up in her house". again, fair point. so my next step was realizing whether i had a job or not this woman was a firestarter no matter what you had going on. getting up early morning to say little slick comments in the morning because she wanted to get a reaction. by this point me and my partner are looking for a new place to live while we figure things out. my mother catches wind of this and starts asking when we'll take the dog after we get the place. now me knowing that she wont take proper care of him, i agree to take him with us and her response is "well hes not going anywhere until i see the house that yall move to. i wanna see everything to make sure its good for my baby"(the dog). i immediately got pissed and told her its not going down like that and that she needs to start considering how she speaks to people mainly me because im not gonna keep dealng with it. she got offended and kicked me and my partner AND THE DOG out of the room mid convo bc she didnt like what i said. me and my partner go back to my room and close the door to which she comes out saying "disrespectful little motherfucker talking to your mother like that" super loud. i let that one get to me and i mistakenly opened my door and started and asks my partner if sai(the dog) has been out. my partner says "no we couldnt take him because his leash and collar are in the room and you locked the door. she had been locking the door ever since she started blaming beck for stealing from her. so once she realized the dog hadnt been out because she locked the door, she tells beck to "ask him if he'll take him out" by this point ive been told im not shit and im not needed and the first thing u say to me on my birthday is "can you take him out" i said no. rage ensued as she slammed the bathroom door on her way out of it. this time she kept walking passed my door talking more shit. more of the usual "i gave you life and you treat me like this" i told her to get away from the door with the nonsense and she started a full argument and said we had to go tomorrow. tomorrow rolls around and we wait for her to go to work so we can leave in peace. she normally got home around 9pm but on this day here she comes strolling in at 2pm right in the middle of packing. paces in front of our door talking shit and this time beck responds saying "we're leaving you need to let us be". this woman then told my partner she was going to beat her ass. i immediately shut that down too because i never seen my mother get tough with anybody. and here she is getting tough with the one person who hates confrontation. after i told her she wasnt even that type of person she replies with i'll stab both of yall in yall sleep. said weird stuff like "thats right i forgot i cant throw pussy on you and call you sexy like her im just the mother you dont have to respect". beck calls me sexy every day. its our little corny but cute word between us. anyway after 30 more minutes of bullshit arguing we leave for becks moms house which fucking sucked until my brother offered me a job in California working with him and my dad. throughout the 5 or 6 months of me being there i was making good money and even tho my mom was fucked up to me, i sent her funds when i could. my father found out i was sending funds to my mom AND my sisters (his daughters with other women) and the fuckhead accused me of using him then when i told him save it for after work(we worked the same construction site) the motherfucker sat there next to me and argued with himself bc i started ignoring the "i feel like your playing with me" comments because i told him "im a grown ass man and we are at work. you are not to question me about shit because you wont get an answer you like. i help my family out because its my money. simple" he then grabbed my shirt yelling "who are pushed sai off on us and dude practically lived with us. barely went home.fast forward to like 2 weeks ago. by this point we have our two cat boys cosmo and dexter. they are babies. 4months and some Idk what I plan to achieve with this post. Maybe it’s a vent, maybe i need advice. Also before I get into it, I want to say that I got the cat when I was 13 and she was 8, and I didn’t expect her to live that long, nor have so many issues. Please don’t tell me I shouldn’t have gotten her, or never to get pets again. I KNOW. I don’t plan to have any other pets or kids, I’m not fit for caring for another life.
So my almost 19 year old cat has been having a lot of issues these past few months. I knew she had benign liver cysts since she was 14, but I was not prescribed any treatment from the vets besides a couple shots when she stopped eating/drinking, not even any pain meds, and I just thought since the vets didn’t mention it, she probably doesn’t need it and mistook her symptoms for signs of old age. Keep in mind that I live in a third world country and vet care is not as advanced as it may be in the US or anywhere else. She was getting by relatively fine until the past couple months. It started with projectile vomiting liquid a few months, but that seems to have stopped. Since 2 weeks ago, she was eating v little, and for this, the treatment(meds) is ongoing. I got a blood test done and the vet says her kidney and important liver values are largely ok, but some of the liver values were bad but will get better with treatment. And recently I just found out she has a broken tooth, it’s broken all the way from near the top. So now, she’s eating nothing but fish probably Bec it’s soft. The last time(beginning of the year) I talked to my vet about whether the cysts can be drained, he said no Bec anesthesia or sedation is too risky due to her age and low weight. But that was before the blood test. I’m assuming the same will be said about a dental surgery. Around that time I did speak to another vet who said he could perform the procedure, but did seem hesitant and I don’t want to risk it, especially as I’ve heard many horror stories of vets’ neglect in my country.
Note that I live with my parents and it’s common in my culture(no I cannot move out Bec it’s not safe for females to live alone). and they will not stop pestering me about the cat and her frequent vet visits. The things they say about her are so hurtful, and it just makes me want to withdraw from her and I’ve completely lost all love for her despite being worried about her needs. She is only bringing misery into my life, I know it’s a horrible thing to say about a sick pet but I cannot help it, when I spend every waking minute thinking about how she isn’t eating, and neglect my own hygiene and am constantly angry and depressed or worried to the point I’m physically sick. I just want a life of my own. I want to be able to worry about myself too. To add to that, I have depression, social and general anxiety, and adhd, all unmedicated Bec I dont want the side effects. And now Bec of her constant health issues I’ll have to search for jobs as soon as my exams end. Call me lazy, but I really don’t think I’m at apoint in my life where I want to look for a job regardless of how easy it may be to find especially when the only thing plaguing my mind is my cat’s health. I have social anxiety and even if I do get a job, I know I’m gonna be miserable with the combined weight of the job+my cats health. I just want to bed rot.
The mental torture has gotten so bad that I considered rehoming, but no one seems to want her. I will NOT consider putting her in a shelter, I think that would be very cruel and she may be put down. I’m just so sick of this, and idk what to do. The vets don’t seem to give any conclusive advice beyond just putting her on meds. I guess all I can do is wait to see if the meds work and if not, ask them about the possibility of surgery, but she’s just so hungry and weak all the time and I cannot keep her going on only fish while I wait to see the results of the meds. I’m sick and tired of living this life where I have nothing to look forward to because of my anxiety about her health. And I’m angry as hell and losing sleep.

we’re both 22M. we’d been together 3 years up until 2 weeks ago.
when we met i’d just got my first job, and i moved out and started renting a flat near to where he lives when we’d been together for 6 months. he was spending so much time at mine i figured what the hell and asked my landlord if he could move in - landlord was fine with it but kept me as the only person on the tenancy agreement.
when my ex moved in he agreed that since he doesn’t have a job, he’ll do more chores than me while job searching, which i thought was fair. except he proceeded to do absolutely no chores, and barely any job searching.
for context - his dad died when he was teenager and his mom started using hard drugs to cope, so since he was a teenager he’s been living with his older sis & brother, the brother’s gf, & his 2 disabled nephews, with 4 borderline feral cats that shit all over their house. it was a 2 bedroom house, and he was sleeping in a cupboard. social services were involved but they let him stay with his older siblings bc he turned 16 during the process. everyone in that household is on benefits, which is fine (my parents claim benefits!), but once i heard one his siblings bragging about disability benefit fraud, my opinion of his family went down quite significantly.
my ex is still re-taking his GCSEs, and job searching is hard with no qualifications, so i figured that after 6 months it was fair enough he hadn’t found a job, despite logically knowing that he’d only applied for a couple and put zero effort into his CV. at this point, i ended up going through all his academic paperwork and getting him to talk me through all his work experience to make him a new & improved CV and but he didn’t use it.
during all of this we had arguments about the fact that he wasn’t actually doing any chores around the flat at all. he claimed he didn’t have time bc he was at college 2 days a week. i called BS bc i was working 40 hours and managing to do every single chore in the flat because of his inaction.
gonna be fr rn - my self esteem was / is pretty low, and while right now i can go “why the fuck did i stay with him”, i genuinely thought he was a nice guy who was at a huge disadvantage and i thought if we stuck together he’d eventually have qualifications & a job, and life would be good 🤦‍♂️
anyway, our first year together i was made redundant and ended up working 2 low wage christmas temp jobs at once (60 hours/week) to make ends meet. he had nothing to do since college had christmas break, but i was still cooking all the food & doing all the cleaning and tidying.
after that, i managed to land my dream full time job, at an entry level. at the same time, my ex started an “access to work” style course through his college and recently earned 1 of the GCSE qualifications he needs after i helped him revise. a couple months ago the college helped him get into an unpaid internship-style job (2 days a week) that was supposed to last 6 months, and while it sucked it would be smth to add to his CV, and he had nothing better to do.
well, he just got fired from his internship for poor attendance and repeated misuse of sick days.
he still doesn’t really do chores, although if we argue about it he’ll say he’s going to change and do chores for like 2 days before going back to his normal lazy self.
on the flip side, i just got a promotion, which comes with a decent salary for my age group. i’m also about to take some exams for a qualification i’ve been working hard towards for the last year.
2 weeks ago i realised that there’s no world where my ex actually gets off his ass and starts working hard to improve his life without me doing all the work. and even then, is it worth it? my family hates him, my friends want me to break up with him, and in the nicest way possible he has absolutely nothing to offer outside of a cute face.
so i broke up with him. lots of crying, i felt weirdly emotional and sad despite knowing this is the right decision, but ultimately my ex agreed that we’re too different for this to work.
issue is now - he needs to move out.
i’ve offered to help with setting him up on benefits and help put some money towards his costs of moving out, but he hasn’t even looked at places to move to.
his college are having a meeting with him in a couple days to try and help him with accomodations, and for the past few weeks they’ve been helping him to job search, but he’s only applying to jobs when college tutors are literally forcing him to, and he’s only to college when i force him to. i’ve been working from home bc i’m ill at the moment, so thankfully i’ve had the time to wake him up and force him to college, but that can’t continue forever.
his brothers have stated that while my ex can stay on their sofa for a few days, he can’t have his old room back bc one of his nephews now sleeps in there. my ex has no other family he knows of. my ex also doesn’t rlly have any friends willing to take him in.
i don’t want to end up looking after my ex forever, & this studio flat has zero privacy and the longer he’s here the more angry i am at the fact i put up with & enabled this for so long.
so, WIBTA if i gave him 3 months notice, and stuck to my word even if he ends up homeless????

Hello everyone, I recently got a job in Surrey and have to move to BC from ontario. I have been searching for accomodation. We are a family of 4. I need suggestions as to where to live. It's hard trying to figure it out without knowing the terrain. I am absolutely trying to avoid a hard commute and yet still stay within budget. We both drive! I will be working from home but will be coming to office (Johston heights/ Guilford area) maybe once or twice a week. Any suggestions on the best places to rent a home. My preference is a townhouse or a 2 bedroom with some personal outside space (patio). I also need to rent in a place with good elementary schools and diversity as a person of colour.

So me 16M. In my childhood, my dad used to travel a lot. When I was born, he always traveled all over the world, came for a vacation for less than a month, and then travels back. For this, every time my mom gave my dad a ride to the airport, I always watched the airplanes, and I was so impressed by the airport vibes and the airplane invention itself. When I was about 5 years old, I even searched on YouTube for planes and kept watching just planes flying without knowing how or anything. Days passed,and I forgot that aviation dream until 2023 (the year I turned 15). This year, I started to take that aviation dream back, and more seriously, I started reading books about planes and the manufacturing of planes and watching documentary shows about planes until I was sure I contained the most knowledge in aviation in someone my age and even more than old people. and to be a pilot i have to obtain 3 flying licenses and 2 certificates and for just 2 license are 50k usd, so we are talking to obtain my licenses and certificates i should have in a range of 100k usd and this is just the education money not included the house rent nor food or other needs and in my country there isnt any good flying academies so i have to travel to usa, south africa, or canada to start the program in their academies so that adds up to other +50k. And also, the percentage of me not landing a job in this field is more than 70% because airlines publish in the news every 5 to 9 years that they need a few new pilots. So if I took a bank loan for $150,000 and finished the 4-year flying program and didn't find a job as a pilot to repay, I would probably end up in jail. The even problem is that I am finishing high school in a year or two (I am igcse; I can finish high school by 2 years only or maybe 3 if I failed in any subjects), so I discussed with my parents what major I would be joining. We all ended up fighting because they want me to be an engineer, and thats not what I want, nor am I motivated to study hard for it, and being an employee sitting on a desk is boring (my dad just wants me to become an engineer like him). Instead, I want to be a pilot because I am so obsessed with this field and dont know what to do and my parents think that I want to be a pilot just because I am that silly boy that think that flying is just easy and get a lot of money , they dont know how many knowledge I consume in this field.
