2024.05.15 01:55 theloquitur Motorola MB8600 MAC Addresses
Hi. I've begun designing the network for our next house in Netbox. I'm working on an entry for our MB8600 but I can only find one MAC address for it and it is listed in the Software screen and the label on the bottom of the modem. Not suprisingly, this MAC address is also in the device's logs as the CM-MAC. However, there are 2 interfaces on this modem, what about the other MAC?

2024.05.15 01:05 Many_Tour6493 Can't log in to Comcast Xfinity account because it's sending the "password reset" to an e-mail address that is defunct/no longer in use.
Called 1-800 number to no avail. Long story short, my Grandmas e-mail address is offline because it is not accepting the current password to her Comcast account. (MacBook) We went to the xfinity website to log in and see what is going on and it won't let her log into that either, and it sends a password reset link to an old e-mail address. this is a catch 22 situation and there seems to be no way of fixing it. Need some help please. Thanks.

This HTTP error, per standard, is when the backend server tells the installer that it is not authorized to access the path requested. Perhaps a mirror configuration problem?
Any way to recover or workaround?
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.15 00:05 Dat_Cool_Guy33 My Deco XE75 Network keeps giving everyone but me internet problems and now my roommates are mad at me :)
Hey Yall, So when my roommates and I moved into a 2 floor apartment, I recommended a mesh network. We bought 4 TP Link Deco XE75 WiFi 6e nodes, We set it up at first and for the first few months, it worked great. Then after a few more moths and a few Firmware updates later. All of a sudden, everyone else started experiencing random drop outs and download speeds less than 1mbps at seemingly random points throughout the day. At first I thought, maybe my QoS settings were too much since I wasn't experiencing the issue at all, (and neither are my 2 home servers either [a Raspberry pi and a GMKtek miniPC])
Turned off QoS, same thing, everyone else is having issues but me and on different devices too, Mac books, Windows gaming computers, phones, tablets, etc. So then I did some digging and fount the next few troubleshooting steps which I'll briefly explain one by one.
Disable Fast Roaming - Nothing changed
Disable Beam-forming - Nothing changed
Reboot the Deco - nothing changed
Then I call My ISP Verizon and asked why this could be happening and they sent a tech over that said the issue could be that my modem (really the battery pack for our modem outside the house) is connected to a surge protector and not directly to the wall. He said that he was seeing a bunch of errors relating to insufficient power delivery or something like that. So he gave me an outlet splitter to plug the battery pack to the outlet without the surge protector
Did that - It somehow got worse lol
I also found out where to pull the logs from the Deco so I pulled the logs and put it in Pastebin if anyone wants to take a look and see whats wrong:
https://pastebin.com/7mHyHGbp Any help or advice would be amazing. I also promise to tell my roommates and not just steal the credit. so if you want the love and respect of a bunch of college kids, this is the post for you :)

2024.05.14 22:57 ChurchSt77 Missing excel files after Mac update
Are the most recent files I have updated, was a mess after going from Big Sur to Ventura a year ago, now worse; possible “conflicted file”? Using Excel app on iMac; I logged into Microsoft site but they don’t have live or chat customer support. Files are not in Time Machine either! Have spoken to Apple Support for a long time with no resolution so far, is ongoing.

Depending on the privileges associated with the user, an attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than those who operate with administrative user rights.
RECOMMENDATIONS: We recommend the following actions be taken:
- Apply the stable channel update provided by Apple to vulnerable systems immediately after appropriate testing. (M1051: Update Software)
- Safeguard 7.1 : Establish and Maintain a Vulnerability Management Process: Establish and maintain a documented vulnerability management process for enterprise assets. Review and update documentation annually, or when significant enterprise changes occur that could impact this Safeguard.
- Safeguard 7.2 : Establish and Maintain a Remediation Process: Establish and maintain a risk-based remediation strategy documented in a remediation process, with monthly, or more frequent, reviews.
- Safeguard 7.6 : Perform Automated Vulnerability Scans of Externally-Exposed Enterprise Assets: Perform automated vulnerability scans of externally-exposed enterprise assets using a SCAP-compliant vulnerability scanning tool. Perform scans on a monthly, or more frequent, basis.
- Safeguard 7.7 : Remediate Detected Vulnerabilities: Remediate detected vulnerabilities in software through processes and tooling on a monthly, or more frequent, basis, based on the remediation process.
- Safeguard 16.13 Conduct Application Penetration Testing: Conduct application penetration testing. For critical applications, authenticated penetration testing is better suited to finding business logic vulnerabilities than code scanning and automated security testing. Penetration testing relies on the skill of the tester to manually manipulate an application as an authenticated and unauthenticated user.
- Safeguard 18.1 : Establish and Maintain a Penetration Testing Program: Establish and maintain a penetration testing program appropriate to the size, complexity, and maturity of the enterprise. Penetration testing program characteristics include scope, such as network, web application, Application Programming Interface (API), hosted services, and physical premise controls; frequency; limitations, such as acceptable hours, and excluded attack types; point of contact information; remediation, such as how findings will be routed internally; and retrospective requirements.
- Safeguard 18.2 : Perform Periodic External Penetration Tests: Perform periodic external penetration tests based on program requirements, no less than annually. External penetration testing must include enterprise and environmental reconnaissance to detect exploitable information. Penetration testing requires specialized skills and experience and must be conducted through a qualified party. The testing may be clear box or opaque box.
- Safeguard 18.3 : Remediate Penetration Test Findings: Remediate penetration test findings based on the enterprise’s policy for remediation scope and prioritization.
- Apply the Principle of Least Privilege to all systems and services. Run all software as a non-privileged user (one without administrative privileges) to diminish the effects of a successful attack. (M1026: Privileged Account Management)
- Safeguard 4.7: Manage Default Accounts on Enterprise Assets and Software: Manage default accounts on enterprise assets and software, such as root, administrator, and other pre-configured vendor accounts. Example implementations can include: disabling default accounts or making them unusable.
- Safeguard 5.4: Restrict Administrator Privileges to Dedicated Administrator Accounts: Restrict administrator privileges to dedicated administrator accounts on enterprise assets. Conduct general computing activities, such as internet browsing, email, and productivity suite use, from the user’s primary, non-privileged account.
- Restrict use of certain websites, block downloads/attachments, block Javascript, restrict browser extensions, etc. (M1021: Restrict Web-Based Content)
- Safeguard 2.3: Address Unauthorized Software: Ensure that unauthorized software is either removed from use on enterprise assets or receives a documented exception. Review monthly, or more frequently.
- Safeguard 2.7: Allowlist Authorized Scripts: Use technical controls, such as digital signatures and version control, to ensure that only authorized scripts, such as specific .ps1, .py, etc., files, are allowed to execute. Block unauthorized scripts from executing. Reassessbi-annually, or more frequently.
- Safeguard 9.3: Maintain and Enforce Network-Based URL Filters: Enforce and update network-based URL filters to limit an enterprise asset from connecting to potentially malicious or unapproved websites. Example implementations include category-based filtering, reputation-based filtering, or through the use of block lists. Enforce filters for all enterprise assets.
- Safeguard 9.6: Block Unnecessary File Types: Block unnecessary file types attempting to enter the enterprise’s email gateway.
- Use capabilities to detect and block conditions that may lead to or be indicative of a software exploit occurring. (M1050: Exploit Protection)
- Safeguard 10.5: Enable Anti-Exploitation Features: Enable anti-exploitation features on enterprise assets and software, where possible, such as Microsoft® Data Execution Prevention (DEP), Windows® Defender Exploit Guard (WDEG), or Apple® System Integrity Protection (SIP) and Gatekeeper™.
- Block execution of code on a system through application control, and/or script blocking. (M1038: Execution Prevention)
- Safeguard 2.5 : Allowlist Authorized Software: Use technical controls, such as application allowlisting, to ensure that only authorized software can execute or be accessed. Reassess bi-annually, or more frequently.
- Safeguard 2.6 : Allowlist Authorized Libraries: Use technical controls to ensure that only authorized software libraries, such as specific .dll, .ocx, .so, etc., files, are allowed to load into a system process. Block unauthorized libraries from loading into a system process. Reassess bi-annually, or more frequently.
- Safeguard 2.7 : Allowlist Authorized Scripts: Use technical controls, such as digital signatures and version control, to ensure that only authorized scripts, such as specific .ps1, .py, etc., files, are allowed to execute. Block unauthorized scripts from executing. Reassess bi-annually, or more frequently.
- Use capabilities to prevent suspicious behavior patterns from occurring on endpoint systems. This could include suspicious process, file, API call, etc. behavior. (M1040: Behavior Prevention on Endpoint)
- Safeguard 13.2 : Deploy a Host-Based Intrusion Detection Solution: Deploy a host-based intrusion detection solution on enterprise assets, where appropriate and/or supported.
- Safeguard 13.7 : Deploy a Host-Based Intrusion Prevention Solution: Deploy a host-based intrusion prevention solution on enterprise assets, where appropriate and/or supported. Example implementations include use of an Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) client or host-based IPS agent.

2024.05.14 21:39 Empty-Pressure-4707 Colour change when importing footage (Mac)
Hi everyone,
I'm editing a short (TikTok) for a client - I've done these in the past and they've been fine, but on this one it seems as though when I pull the footage into my timeline it becomes washed out and desaturated. I have no idea what's changed. I tried changing my settings to:
Preferences - General - 'Use Mac display colour profile for viewers' is ticked
Preferences - General - 'Automatically tag Rec.709 Scene clips as Rec.709-A' is also ticked
Colour science is set to 'DaVinci YRGB' and my Timeline colour space is set to 'Rec.709-A'
I'm sure it's also useful to note that generally this client shoots videos with his phone and I know that can affect the LOG files or whatever (I really have no clue). I don't know what he shot this one on as he hasn't gotten back to me yet (I'll put in the comments if I get an update) but for now here's the info on the footage I'm using:
Video Codec: H.265 Main 10 L5.0
Frame Rate: 30.00
Resolution: 2160 x 3840
Audio Codec: AAC
Sample Rate: 44100
and it's in stereo. To top it off this is an MOV file and I am also up to date with DaVinci Resolve (Studio version)
As a temporary fix I've just colour-corrected it back to the best of my ability but if anyone knows how to solve this permanently that would be amazing since I can't seem to find anything to help me online! I do longer form content with this client as well, and it would be far more effort to try and fix a 20 minute video the same way I've fixed this 20 second clip so I'm really hoping there's just a setting I've screwed up or something. Any help is super appreciated and I'm also curious to see if anyone else has had the same issue in the past.
Many thanks!

2024.05.14 20:41 Zealousideal-Boot135 Need support or a listening ear..
Need support or listening ear
So my d date was 7th of april. Our son was 11 months at the the time. I am 34 year old female and he is a 34 year old male. Weve been together since we were 17. My partner had a traumatic childhood but never went to therapy for it. The last 4 years he has been up and down moodwise, almost depressed at times but also had very happy times. We decided for a child in our happy time. Bear with me, english is not my native language.
The year our son was born was a hard year. Felt like he didn't really stood by me. A real difference from the pregnancy. Our son was sick alot in the winter with virus after virus. I breastfeed. Alot of the care especially at night came down to me. I feel like i may have had a mild post partem depression due to alot of stuff and not alot of support from his side. Our intimicy was low, the pregnancy was hard, recovery after the birth, and sex was kind of painful afterwards. I also was very tired and over stimulated by being touched all the time by our son. He wanted more intimicy but never really had a serious talk, just cynical jokes. Ofcourse i kind of neglected my partner but not intentional.
The night of the 4th/5th of april our son had to be hospitalized because of respitory issues due to rs virus. I stayed the night in the hospital with our son. We got released the next day, medication helped and he no longer had saturation dips. He told me a few days before he planned to go see friends on the 6th but told me the morning of the 6th he would be staying over. He never gave me a reason not to trust him but I told him i found it weird, he never slept at a friends house in 17 years and i felt like he should have discussed it with me, not just tell me since our son was sick. He said he needed a night to relax with his friends but would think about coming home. (Prior to this he asked me to buy pineapple, i did t buy it) he also asked me to make him a lunch before he went which i did. He texted me during the day and i asked him in the evening if he would come home. I felt lonely. He said no, give me a night for myself. I told him he was being shady. He said if you think I am thats your problem.
The next day he came home and when I was trying to pay for our daycare (i had acces to his email account because the invoice comes in his email) i see a digital trainticket to a different city his friends live. He gaslights me when I confront him. When I showed him more evidence and said his sweater smelled like womens perfume he still didnt cave. I was crazy. Once i made him swear on our son he said yeah i met a girl but it is friendship, slept on the sofa, i just stayed overnight because its a long trip. Nothing happened. Gave me her contact info. She is christian and swore on god nothing happened. I tell him we need therapy cause its not normal to hide a harmless friendship and i am not comfortable with this friendship. If he shared it with me she would have been welcome at our home. He agreed. Said he would cut off contact.
Fast forward a few days later he is being sneaky with his phone. So i confront him about the contact. After another round of gaslighting he admits there are feelings, the met up twice and had been physical also several times. He took a day off work to meet her. At the time he was drunk. Things got heated i told him he has to stop it now and he says no i am allowed to talk to whomever i want. I packed my bag took or son the next morning and told him i needed time away and he should think about what he is doing.
I stay at family who supported me. He keeps on texting me he missed me and wanted another shot but wanted to end it with her on his terms because he promised her he would give her an answer in a few days (keeps protecting her but not me, atleast thats how it felt like). I said it either ends now or i wont come home and we end. He ends it with her but while I am back home he is acting like a real a hole. Mad at me, keeps going back and forth on staying together. I am toxic, i made him do it. It was bad between us for years (it really wasnt!) I buy books about surviving infidelity but have a hard time letting the conversation go with him. Felt like he still wasnt truthful.
But we did end up having intimicy 3 times in a few days. Which was suprisingly good (why???) And made me feel wanted and like we were working on things. The end of april I had to work. I work in a residential setting for people who are suffering from mental health and are mentally disabled. I buy sexy lingerie (online) while working and get off early because some of the residents are at their parents house.
When I come back home he acts all weird. Why are you home early (not like happy to see me). I find this behaviour weird so the next morning when he goes to work i log into his computer and find disgusting messages and confirmation she had been at our house the day before and with my child while i had been working. We had missed each other by five minutes.
I go crazy, called him called her. She is ten years younger then me. She just laughed at me, was real evil acted like he was the love of her life.
He came home (i got a bit physical when he came through the door, not saying it was the right thing to do but i was so angry for him putting our child in that position, never been physical before nor do I intend to). The one thing that i have to protect. He knew I didnt want her near our child and he promised me she never was and she was also never at our house. (I doubt this now) but he knew how big of a thing that was for me.
He sees me getting a break down (also good to know his family already knew about some of the stuff and were angry with him for gambling with his family) and then says he cant go anywhere and calls the ap. I tell him if you go there dont come back tomorrow. You can go anywhere but not to her house. She picks him up. My mom and sister in law had to come because I was a wreck. When he is there he keeps om texting do you want me to go to a hotel, but if I go to a hotel i want to come back tomorrow. I say you have to do what you have to do for yourself, i am not making your decisions. He stays there for a week. Keeps on texting me he dreams about me.
We have our own house so after a week he comes back Cant deny him acces, its both our house.
He says he is suicidal, wants a chance. Please you are the love of my life etc. I say i cant give him garantees there is alot of stuff happening but ofcourse 17 years of being best friends, there are alot of feelings.
After a few days home he goes back to her for a few days. Tells me he wants to break it off but takes 4 days!! They did break it off but he is still in contact because she is doing bad mentally because of his decision and he feels responsible. He says to me I want you to commit at this point or else I wont cut off contact even though theyve broken up. I say i cant commit at this point because this all just happened and we need counseling and i cant garantee him if he and I are gonna work out.
Yesterday i caved, and we were intimite again. Why am i this stupid?? Maybe it was the love bombing, the way he was looking at me. But to me it felt like ok, maybe there still is enough love to work this out. Then his ap send a card here which said that he was her man etc. He didnt tell me about the card but did throw it out. I found it. He is still in contact with her and still says he will only cut her off completely when I say we are going for it a 100%. Which to me is crazy, how can I say that at this point?
We got into a fight again about the card about him still being in contact despite being broken off. About him being more protective of her needs than mine (she is hurt, she is not doing well, if I break off conract now she might do something)
And i am over here thinking, what is wrong with me. Why do I fall for his bs, and also what is keeping me here. Why do I still have a hard time letting go when he doesnt want to fully commit unless he has certainty.
I swear we had a great relationship before our kid. Sure we had our issues every now and again but we always had fun and i always felt like I was his home and he was mine. I am so sad my best friend is like a different person. Who recognizes these feelings???

2024.05.14 20:17 Less_Wallaby4251 AVF (real VM on android) Vs. native Translation layers (like Skyline) - Best methods for emulation-future
Hey, everyone. Sorry if the title seems a bit confusing.
I've been looking at this sub for a long time and thought its best to ask finally:
As I understand the whole emulation scene right now (especially for x86 and windows games - and forgive me if that understanding seems a bit flawed):
1.) You install termux. 2.) You install an ARM proot-distro in it. 3.) Then you install box86/64, wine, dxvk, turnip etc. in it. 4.) From
there, you emulate x86 architecture so that Windows games
might run on it. Kinda same for winlator too, I guess. perhaps exagear work like that too, though I'm not sure.
of course ARM-to-ARM translation - like Switch - works far better, not in the least because Switch is a considerably less powerful device to emulate.
This setup takes a fair bit of overhead, varies game-to-game, and controlleKB/Mouse support is finicky/suspicious (all those virus alarms that have people divided on subs).
MOBOX devs and others say that rooting your phone would offer considerable speed-ups, though many people are reluctant to do it for obvious reasons.
Now...
I don't know if you people are following it or not. but google has been working on some stuff called AVF for some time now. Short for
Android Virtualization Framework. Which would allow people to run, kinda real VMs the way it works on dekstops. Their solutiuon is pKVM, and back when android 13 was first launched, some ingenious folks over XDA had managed to run fairly speeded up Win11 on it.
On pixel 7 pro, without even rooting!
Qualcomm is damned notorious, however, because it didn't allow similar functionalitty to be exposed to users of their chipsets, although I read that's largely because ARM v8 architecture for phones simply didn't allow EL2 privilege level to work like that (or stuff... point is it didn't work. Only from 8.2+, it will. or so I gather. there's tweet from Mishaal Rahman somwhere about it, I'm sure.) But Google's being a wholly custom tensor job, meant it had the freedom to implement this stuff. though, its a real shame that tensors are real-tortoise-shamers in terms of speed and volcano-emulators in terms of thermals.
Now, 2 years later, things are heating up.
According to this report I read up yesterday on android authority, Google is privately showing some industry players how to boot-up ChromeOS on pixel 8s using the same tech:
https://www.androidauthority.com/chrome-os-on-android-hands-on-2-3442510/ December last year, (or thereabouts), Google also published this thing called "Virtual Machines as a
Core Android Primitive", using AVF.
https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2023/12/virtual-machines-as-core-android-primitive.html Around same time, Qualcomm made some massive changes to their Gunyah hypervisor
https://github.com/quic/gunyah-hypervisor And published an article on it in january:
https://www.qualcomm.com/developeblog/2024/01/gunyah-hypervisor-software-supporting-protected-vms-android-virtualization-framework Same with Mediatek and their GenieZone hypervisor update, on Dec '23.
https://lkml.org/lkml/2023/12/28/252 We also know that Qualcomm is hyping up theri Snapdragon X Elite line of chips and how its gonna be an ARM-based Mac-Killer in windows arena and all that. Early-glipsers/sneak-peakers had tested gaming on it and it was probably a mixed bag but they ran.
Not to mention those same chips are going to be inside Snapdragon 8 gen 4.
Also, nowadays pixels are def. coming with display outputs these days.
Given all this, here's my question to all you people because I don't really understand the half of it:
Do you think we're going to get native abilities to run VMs through Gynyah hypervisor on qualcomm phones? And GenieZone on mediatek? Without rooting and all? Android guys are calling it
core primitive after-all. But who the f**k knows, right? Maybe its all for those fancy notebooks. Just like google did it with chromebooks.
the only way to emulate (not translate) x86 had been Limbo PC emulator (correct me if I'm wrong though) and that one soon runs into problems because of single core and ram limits because of absence of KVM functionality.
So would it offer a considerable speed-boost if we had these VM functions - as compared to the MOBOX/WinLator and its translation layers, say? or Cassia - the holy grail in the future we all keep patiently waiting for?
What about GPU acceleration?
back when they managed to run Win11 on pixel 6/7,
esper.io people said the dev has no plans to implement it.
But for others, we do have Turnip drivers, no? (at least for qualcomm.)
Would they help in VMs, in GPU acceleration?
The VMs certainly should solve the controlleKB/mouse headaches as a minimum, I gather. No "Is Input-Bridge a virus?" question-barrages from anxious users.
And finally, would having native VMs help in Emulation on Android, in general I mean. because then you'd have acess to steam and perhaps other emulators that are already there on linux but not necessarily on android. Who knows, even PS3!
But seriously, what do you guys think? (and sorry for the long post, but it had to be gotten out of my system)

2024.05.14 20:14 oriol_99 icloud drive blocking entire finder app.
Hi Reddit! Greetings from Paris!
I use icloud drive to store documents trough my finder in macos sonoma 14.4.1. I've been using this method for some years now and i have never experienced any issue.
The problem here is that icloud drive is stuck in downloading (i don't know what) and it blocks the entire finder... for example, i go to safari and I try to download a file the entire mac freezes and i need to reboot this. If i disable icloud drive from my mac and log off my apple id the issue disapears and i can use it as normal.
Does anyone know why this is happening, i've spent hours troubleshooting and i can't find any useful information.
Many thanks if someone can help me out!

2024.05.14 19:48 dosangst NuPhy is on the fence between being another fly by night keyboard shop or an actual trusted and reliable business. Below I outline items that NuPhy needs to institute if they intend to retain this community's respect and business. Please add any items I may have missed. Discussion/thoughts welcome.
- QMK/VIA keyboards - Firmware must be updated on both the source tree and the downloadable file with a change log
- QMK/VIA keyboards must include the MCU used as well as the amount of RAM on the MCU. This must also include the number of layers available
- Newly released keyboards must ship in a FIFO order. People receiving units they just purchased, while people who pre-ordered keyboards are still waiting for their shipment is not acceptable. All orders must include a "ship by" date, with a window of delivery time based on region
- NuPhy needs to provide a US/EU warehouse for returns; shipping back to China is not an acceptable practice
- NuPhy needs to institute a working and visible ticket system for orders, products, pre and post sales support; Discord is not meant to replace a ticketing system, it is meant to be a community discussion platform
- New keyboards must include dates when they will be available in regional marketplaces like Amazon. Many people would rather order from a trusted vendor
- NuPhy must publish layouts with each keyboard; which keycap sets will fit, any extra or non-standard keys that will be needed
- NuPhy must provide a list of compatible switches, especially when listing low profile keyboards
- NuPhy must be swift to respond to firmware issues; provide triage, and an ETA of when issues will be repaired, i.e. double input issues
- NuPhy needs to provide a clearly written and legally binding warranty. Too many customers are being turned down when their keyboard either arrives DOA or stops working after a few days. This warranty must be clear as to what is covered by NuPhy and what is required by customers in order to make a warranty claim that does not get lost in a black hole
- NuPhy must provide clear instructions, especially with QMK/VIA keyboards as to how Windows and Mac layers are handled (which layer is the default Windows layer, default Mac layer). This should be included with each and every change log
- NuPhy needs to foster relationships with honest content creators who will be honest about their products without holding them responsible for NuPhy's faults. Creators are complaining that NuPhy will not work with creators who have even a single negative thing to say. People want honest reviews, not just commercials that paint their products in only good light
- NuPhy needs to list and link alternative QMK/VIA firmware files by community members
- NuPhy needs to abide by QMK's MIT, BSD, Apache, and GNU GPL as well as register their keyboards with VIA's database to avoid the need for VIA JSON files - If NuPhy refuses to do this, then they cannot list their keyboards as QMK/VIA products

2024.05.14 19:31 diamondsw Weird macOS DNS problem
EDIT: Case of being too "smart" for my own good. Details below.
I've had a seriously weird DNS bug for the last few months. I run a homelab with a variety of services and local DNS (dnsmasq) to provide internal addressing. This has worked great - except that macOS keeps losing
one DNS entry. In other words, the site will load, work fine for a bit, and between one page click and the next the DNS entry will drop out of the Mac's local DNS resolver cache and Safari/Chrome/etc won't be able to connect. Ping to the DNS name also fails. Flushing the local cache and restarting mDNSResponder fixes it for a while, where a while could be seconds or minutes - but typically not more.
All of the below are local DNS names being resolved from the same local DNS server, so there are absolutely no configuration differences between these names (as you can see, they even resolve to the same host which is using a reverse proxy to send requests to the proper container).

The temporary fix:
sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
This beats the hell out of me, as I cannot fathom why one entry works perfectly and another does not. I even changed that hostname and the weirdness followed the host, which makes
even less sense.
Anyone have any clue where to go with this goofiness? I find macOS nigh impossible to troubleshoot ever since Unified Logging and the proliferation of "private" data making even those logs useless.

2024.05.14 18:23 Dan_ScamHunter Stealing money from your card. The first post
I don't even know where to start, there is a huge amount of information that I wanted to share with you here.Let's start with perhaps the most common types of fraud.Theft of your credit and debit cards. There are several ways that you can part with your money from your cards. But where do the scammers get this data from?
The most common ways are
--You got to a phishing payment link,e-commerce
--Leakage of your data from the sites where you made the payment
--You have brought virus software to your PC by downloading a malicious file from an unknown source (Internet, flash card)
--You have got to a phishing site for authorization of an apple, Google, Samsung account, etc.
Now in order
You wanted to buy a product online on an unfamiliar site at a very attractive price.Despite the fact that the site inspires confidence, has an SSL certificate, the correct legal address, a beautiful domain name and other parameters, this is not an indicator of its reliability. After making a purchase, you will even receive a receipt for the cost and delivery time to your email address. And you are happy that you have saved a lot of money, keep going about your daily business. Next, it all depends on the methods of debiting funds from your bank card. It will be used either almost immediately or a little later.
The case is as follows. You regularly purchase any goods over the Internet in a local or large online store. For ease of use, your card and billing address are stored in these stores.Hackers study the attack vectors on these stores, exploit the vulnerability and gain access to the database of stores where you previously purchased goods.Your card data is usually encrypted, but not always, there are also methods for decrypting this data. This is how your card data gets to the attackers.
Do you like free software, movies and games downloaded from Torrent and unofficial sites?
Then the malefactor is already in your computer. There is a huge amount of malware for PCs on both Windows and macOS.All this malware has different tasks. We will focus on the stillers class for example.Stiller is a malicious software that extracts all information from your PC and sends it to an attacker.I will list only some parameters and data that stiller can extract, these are:versions of all software installed on the PC,IP address, time zones, keyboard layouts, fonts, autofill of any browser, cookies, hardware wallets and much, much
more.As a rule, your credit cards, which browsers keep so carefully, are located in the autocomplete lines. All other information such as billing can also be extracted from the log taken from your PC.
The most insidious way - these are phishing authorization sites.I'll give you a simple example: your iCloud ran out of storage space, and you wanted to buy additional space in the cloud. You logged into safari on your iPhone and entered an icloud request. You click on the first link in the search results, this is what everyone would do, even me.This link was an advertisement, but the domain was original, the ORIGINAL CARL!!!Next, you are redirected to an icloud-type authorization page icloud.scamdomen.com you enter your login details, you are asked to enter a confirmation code on your device, you confirm, that's all.You can say goodbye to your Apple ID and iCloud for at least a month, because hackers will get into your apple ID, delete your devices, change your password and phone number. And then they start using your information, connected payment methods, viewing your photos and videos, studying your notes, applications, and so on.As a result, Apple ID support will restore your Apple ID, but only after a month.
Now we have looked at the most popular ways to steal your data, in my next posts I will try to analyze each category separately so that you better understand how to protect yourself. Now let's talk about the safety recommendations.I understand that half of what I'm going to say is actually corny, and you know it without me, but nevertheless, it works and provides you with protection.
-Do not use the same password on different services
-Do not specify your first name, last name, date of birth in the password
-Use at least 12 characters in the password, using special characters
-If possible, use only prepaid cards with a known balance to pay at unfamiliar stores/locations
-If possible, do not use the standard autofill functions for usernames and passwords on a PC and smartphone, use only specialized applications in which you can install two-step verification.
-If possible, use a two-step verification
-Use only licensed software
-Install and use antivirus software on your computer and smartphone
-Do not download files to your computer and smartphone from unknown sources
I would like to end this post with this, I hope this information will be useful for you.Take care of yourself and your loved ones!

2024.05.14 17:29 3duckspeckinggrass MacBook Pro 2017 turns on but frozen and glitchy
| My MacBook Pro 2017 hasn’t been able to log in for the last five days or so - it’s just frozen on the Apple logo or on the log on screen - when it does manage to log in the odd time, it’s pretty much frozen and unusable. Any idea of what I need to do? Im able to boot up recovery mode fine - I’ve tried First Aid but says there are no issues. submitted by 3duckspeckinggrass to mac [link] [comments] |
2024.05.14 17:07 fammm_moas0180306 How do I fix this?
| Whenever my Mac restarts for some reason its default keyboard language becomes albanian. I've tried changing it but to no avail. It wasn't an issue before but now it's a reoccurring problem. I've had this laptop for 2 years and it's happening for almost the last 2 months. Even when I change the key board option it still registers the albanian keyboard and it won't change until I've logged in which is a challenge. I've worked around it before but this time around I can't seem to log in. It does not change no matter how many times I restart submitted by fammm_moas0180306 to mac [link] [comments] |
2024.05.14 16:40 ChicagoLarry Follow up to my laptop drama....
The nerve of some people, update on previous post
Am i screwed?. I'll keep this really simple, I sold a mac pro online, Was sent to Portland Oregon and received by signature 11 days ago. Person contacts me yesterday to say there's a lock on it and it's a company computer. This is not true, i got it from a points system through a company i do business with for free, it came to me sealed in the box, i used it for a month, literally just used it to watch some movies on a trip, decided i wasn't using it alot otherwise and really needed some extra cash so i thought I'd offload it as i got it for free
I already factory reset it and it was ready to go, but the guy contacts me showing me an Amazon log in screen for employees and says it's a bad computer. He then proceeds to tell me he knows a place that can unlock it for$200. I'm very suspicious so i fight it, he sends me a very small pic of the back of the computer conforming the serial number, to prove its the same. I receive no large pictures of the laptop.
We then decided after much back and forth that he's sending it back for a refund. I'm terrified he's sending me a locked computer in its place and I'll have to refund him... What can i do??
Edit....Do you know that I received the laptop back today and it wasn't even the one I sent. It was a completely different model. It is a night and day different model so this is a complete bait and switch he is trying to pull. I sent my old pictures and the new pictures to eBay. There is no way that they let him get away with this is there?? I mean he didn't even try to make it look like the one I sent, it's all scratched, he sent me a pic of my serial number to confirm and this one even has a different serial number on it. I mean who is he trying to fool. AND he didnt even return a charging cable, the audacity. Grrrrrr.
*****2nd edit.....5/14/24. GOT MY MONEY BACK!!!!!. I was denied after the first investigation but decided to appeal while supplying a police report. I was then asked to sign an official affidavit under threat of perjury that what i was saying was truthful and this morning they approved my return and it was done instantly. Faith restored, in ebay anyway not in that buyer. Keep at it and maybe just massive fate will work in your favor. I don't think I'll ever sell high end stuff again though.

2024.05.14 15:55 lonelygem Can't log into gmail in apple mail on mac os 10.14 Mojave due to captcha not loading
So I created a new gmail and I want to log it in on apple mail in my laptop running Mojave 10.14 on a Macbook Pro late 2013. Google requires me to authenticate in safari. Safari in Mojave is broken af at this point. It worked for a second and downloaded my 2 emails but then it kicked me out and required a captcha. The captcha does not load. At all. So is there no way to log into a new gmail in apple mail unless I get a newer OS? Hopefully none of my current emails will have to reauthenticate and get kicked out... anyone know a way around it?
