2024.06.02 08:22 Grouchy-Ad7827 My GF asked for a break, what do i do?

Let's cut to the chase, we both had separate MDW plans and everything was normal beforehand. She comes back and acted so weird on Facetime (im still at home) then i asked if anything happened and she said no. Then she texts me "im really upset you feel this way about me" when she asked me this question previously and it wasnt a big deal. We last talked beginning of the week and she facetimed me two days ago and we talked but she seems pretty deasdset on cutting things off. We have been dating for 9 months, i just dont know what to do. Something just feels so different, she was with all her single friends this past weekend who may have had a say but i dont think that should change how it is. I was laid off a few months ago and have been actively looking for a job but idk. Im just in a weird spot. Please give me advice

2024.06.02 08:22 BarDramatic7498 Family history of MH - range of reactions from MDs

To preface - I'm not in medicine (I'm a CPA) but MIL & mom are MD & RN so I'm not completely ignorant to the healthcare world. I have a family history of MH (great grandfather passed from MH event, grandfather, maternal uncle, and cousin {from a maternal aunt} all had MH events).
My mother has had surgery once and told them about her history but doesn't remember how they handled it. I had surgery twice as a child and my mother explained family history but again doesn't remember how they handled it. Neither of us have been tested.
My 5 year old had her tonsils out last year and when I brought up the MH history the resident anesthesiologist immediately got her attending. He was incredibly annoyed the info was not in her chart and as he was asking me questions he went to "that place" mentally, zoned out, and said "ok I think we'll be fine". I should have asked their plan (as in are they doing gas/IV/gonna have a cart ready) but was a bit overwhelmed. During recovery he (anesthesiologist) came through and briefly checked in but at the time I didn't think to ask him.
A few months later, I had surgery and told the anesthesiologist the exact same info and my surgery was late so they could flush everything and I had IV and not gas. I did inform my surgeon a week before surgery and she said "ok, I think that's only for succinylcholine" but that was it and I was still scheduled later in the day.
Based on my MHAUS reading it seems like absent of testing you should be treated like you could have a MH event and all precautions taken. Also that you can be susceptible and still successfully have triggering agents.
So redditors, do I just go get tested? A muscle biopsy sounds not cool but if it would give a definitive answer for me (and possibly my kids) I would do it. Just seems like we've had wildly varying reactions from docs. I explained all of this to our ped and he seemed...to act like it wasn't a big deal.

🔗Reliable, LED Distress Flare for Safe Navigation

https://preview.redd.it/zzs62njqp34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=240c4e8fd834bf3f8ff087f52826ee983db02bc0
As a boater, I've always been wary of traditional pyrotechnic flares for safety reasons. That's why, when I came across the ACR ResQFlare Electronic Distress Flare & Flag, I knew I had to give it a try. This innovative device has been designed to provide a safer, more reliable alternative to traditional pyrotechnic flares and can even be carried in lieu of them.
What stood out the most was the 360-degree visibility from over six miles away. Not only did it provide excellent visibility during emergencies, but it also had a significantly longer burn time than traditional flares. Its lightweight, compact size, and floatability made it incredibly easy to use – all while being fungus, corrosion, and water-resistant.
The ACR ResQFlare also comes with a distress flag, which, when carried together, qualifies as a replacement for traditional pyrotechnic flares. It's a perfect addition to any ditch bag, especially considering that it doesn't go out of date, saving me time and avoids the hassle of replacement.
One downside I faced was the lack of a lanyard attached to the device. While it floats upright in water, there are better options available that might be more visible in daylight compared to the ACR ResQFlare. However, as a safety device, the ACR ResQFlare still gets the job done without the risk of fire or injury.
In conclusion, the ACR ResQFlare Electronic Distress Flare & Flag is a great addition to any boater's safety arsenal. It's easy to use, safe, and provides excellent visibility during emergencies. Its longevity and added convenience make it a worthy choice as a replacement for traditional pyrotechnic flares.

🔗ACR ResQFlare Electronic Distress Flare Kit for Maritime Safety

https://preview.redd.it/92rrqywqp34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e11b308d08b2d402ce3c254de0f19a9912a2816
As someone who spends quite a bit of time on the water, I've often found myself worried about carrying traditional pyrotechnic flares due to their potential hazards. That's why I was thrilled to try the ACR ResQFlare E-flare and Drybag Safety Kit. This handy device is an excellent alternative - it's compact, easy to use, and most importantly, safe.
One of the features that stood out for me was its daytime distress flag. This flag is bright and noticeable, ensuring that I could be seen even in daylight conditions. Carried together with the ResQFlare, they meet the applicable U. S. Coast Guard requirements, making them a reliable safety tool to carry on my boat.
Of course, like any product, there are a few aspects I would have liked to see improved. The ResQFlare could benefit from a more durable design, as the plastic casing feels a bit flimsy. Additionally, considering the cost, I would have expected the kit to come with more than just one distress flag.
Overall, the ACR ResQFlare E-flare and Drybag Safety Kit has become an essential part of my boating gear. It provides a safe and effective way to signal for help in case of an emergency, and I feel more confident knowing I have it on board.

🔗Premium Extend-A-Fender Flares for Ultimate Tire Coverage

I recently added the Bushwacker 20971-02 fender flares to my car, and let me tell you, they looked pretty good on there. These flares are a bit on the thin side but once I installed them, they felt pretty sturdy.
The biggest downside was the rubber weather-strip, it kept falling off and seemed to be made of a poor quality material. I ended up having to call Bushwacker and they sent me a replacement part.
Overall, I'm happy with the product, but I wish the rubber weather-strip was of higher quality.

🔗Bushwacker Max Coverage Pocket Style UV-Protected Fender Flares

I've had the pleasure of trying out the Bushwacker Max Coverage Pocket Style Fender Flares, and I must say, I'm impressed! These bad boys add an extra 2.25 inches of tire coverage from the wheel well, which is perfect for my truck's bigger tires and wider wheels. The aggressive off-road style they bring to the table is truly one of a kind.
The fender flares install easily right out of the box, and they're built tough with Dura-Flex 2000 material. It's wrap-resistant and boasts added durability and flexibility on the trail, thanks to its thick construction. Despite their rugged appearance, these fender flares are a piece of cake to install without any drilling, and they blend in seamlessly with the rest of my truck's bodywork.
Sure, there can be a few minor hiccups in painting them to match your ride, but overall, the Bushwacker Max Coverage Pocket Style Fender Flares are an excellent investment for truck and SUV owners looking for enhanced tire coverage.

🔗Versatile 3/32" Thick Acrylic Sheet for Bulk Purchase

I recently got my hands on a 3/32" thick Cast Acrylic sheet, measuring 6" wide and 6" long. As someone who appreciates the unique blend of function and aesthetics, this product was a delight to work with. With its optically clear nature, it allowed me to create projects that were visually pleasing while maintaining strength and durability.
Despite being quite small, this sheet still served its purpose well in a variety of applications. Its moisture-resistant properties ensured that my work kept its clear edge even in humid conditions. The fact that it's thin made it lightweight to handle and easy to cut, making it a favorite for my DIY projects.
However, it's worth mentioning that while the product is strong, it might not be ideal for projects requiring extreme durability or heavy-duty usage. Additionally, if you're planning larger projects, you might find that ordering these sheets in bulk would be more convenient.
Overall, this Cast Acrylic sheet proved to be a reliable and versatile tool for my crafting needs. Whether you're a hobbyist or a professional, this product could have a place in your toolbox.

I recently gave the SOURCEONE. ORG Premium 1/4 Clear Acrylic Plexiglass Sheet a try in my home renovation project, and let me tell you, it was a game-changer. I used it for my kitchen window replacement, and it offered the perfect balance of durability and style. The clear 1/4 inch thick acrylic was incredibly easy to work with - I was able to saw, route, drill, form, bend, and even cement it without any hassle.
The result? . A stunning, sturdy window that has held up great against the outdoor elements. The best part? .
It's lighter and stronger than glass, making it an excellent investment for any outdoor application. Highly recommend! .

🔗Bushwacker FF Extend-A-Fender for Chevrolet: Premium Protection and Stylish Flare

https://preview.redd.it/1709b7lsp34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=08b0629a4fd8671ff89c840baa49f81bd7ce54cb
Just a few weeks ago, I stumbled upon the Bushwacker Extend-A-Fender Flares. I had been looking for a durable and stylish fender flare for my Chevrolet truck. With Bushwacker's reputation for quality and performance, I decided to give them a try.
First of all, installing these flares took no more than 10 minutes, even for someone like me with minimal car modification experience. One look, and I was sold on their sleek and modern design, perfect for my truck.
What stood out the most were the materials used. Dura-Flex 2000 material offers durability, flexibility, and built-in UV protection. It's safe to say that these flares have become an integral part of my truck's exterior, and the 2.25-inch tire coverage is just an added bonus.
But what sets them apart from other flares on the market is the fact that they resist chalking, cracking, and warping. I've had several cars and trucks over the years, and this is the first time I've found a product that genuinely stands up to wear and tear.
However, one downside I noticed was that the flares' finish seemed to get a little scuffed during the installation process. But since they're sold in an OE matte black finish, it blends in quite nicely. If you're someone who likes to personalize their look, you could always paint them to match your vehicle's color scheme.
All in all, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Bushwacker Extend-A-Fender Flares have been a game-changer for my car's overall appearance and performance. Highly recommended for anyone looking to upgrade the look of their vehicle.

What stood out to me the most was its strength and durability. As someone who loves DIY projects, I appreciated that this product could be heated and shaped without breaking it. It was also incredibly easy to cut through it, leaving no traces of cracking.
The transparency of this acrylic sheet was exceptional, and its light transmission properties made it perfect for displaying delicate objects. In fact, its smooth surface and high hardness made it an ideal replacement for glass, allowing me to create a custom protective cover for my aquarium.
However, one downside I noticed was the thickness of the acrylic sheet. While it was strong and durable, it also made it a bit cumbersome to handle during certain projects. But overall, my experience with this acrylic sheet was pleasant, and I appreciate the versatility it offers for various applications.

🔗Ferrero Collection Premium Advent Calendar 2023

I recently came across the R600a refrigerant, a life-saver when it comes to refrigeration units that require this specific type of refrigerant. The size of 14.8 ounces or 420 grams made it perfect for my needs, fitting nicely in my refrigerator.
The EPA's approval of R600a and its adherence to the regulations in 40 CFR Part 82.17 provided me with peace of mind. Using it as per their guidelines gave me confidence in the product.
One of the standout features for me was its purity, boasting a 99.7% pharmaceutical-grade quality. This high purity level ensured the efficient functioning of my refrigeration unit, and it didn't disappoint.
However, there was one downside that I encountered during my use. Despite the decent amount of refrigerant provided, it didn't last as long as I desired, and I had to make more frequent replacements than expected.
Overall, while the R600a refrigerant did its job in keeping my refrigerator cool and maintaining a consistent temperature, I wish it lasted a bit longer.

🔗Clear Acrylic Sheet: Versatile and Durable Glass Alternative

I recently gave the Fab Glass and Mirror Plexiglass Sheets a try, and I must say, they've been a game-changer in my daily life. These sheets provide a clear and sturdy alternative to glass, and I've found that they're ideal for a variety of applications. Whether I'm crafting a DIY photo frame or creating a chic welcome sign, the plexiglass sheets never fail to impress.
The most impressive feature is their durability. They've withstood quite a few knocks and scrapes without showing any signs of wear and tear. And the best part? They're just as effective outdoors as they are indoors, making them an excellent choice for a wide range of applications. The clarity of these sheets has also proven to be a major selling point. They allow light to pass through effortlessly, making them perfect for display cases and signage.
That being said, I did experience a minor drawback. The sheets do tend to attract dirt easily, which can be a bit of a hassle when it comes to cleaning. Overall, however, the pros far outweigh the cons, and I'd definitely recommend these plexiglass sheets to anyone in need of a clear and sturdy material for their projects.

🔗Cricut Acetate Sheets for Cutting Plotters: 12x12cm Transparent Sheets

https://preview.redd.it/jh1x5uxvp34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae7277dd1a69dc73305c266b044fb5833e791351
I recently had the opportunity to try out the Cricut Acetate Sheets, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint! I was working on a project that required some extra-clear stencils, and these sheets were the perfect solution. The best part? They worked perfectly in my Cricut machine without any issues.
The acetate sheets were incredibly easy to use, and the stencils I made came out looking flawless. I especially loved the protective film on both sides of the sheets, which kept them looking pristine until I was ready to start cutting. The acetate itself was crystal clear, making it a great choice for any project where a clean and precise cut is essential.
However, I did notice that the acetate can be a bit fragile if not handled with care. I had a few accidents where the sheets scratched or got a few small dings, but luckily, they were easily fixed with a bit of polishing. Overall, I'm thrilled with the Cricut Acetate Sheets and will definitely be using them in future projects. Highly recommended!

🔗Powerful Honda-Engine Aerator for Lawn Maintenance

https://preview.redd.it/j4x5qwyvp34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=761d9762bef12c5d829291b93cdde0ee08eed98d
My first experience with the Billy Goat PL1800 Mechanical Aerator was nothing short of impressive. The powerful Honda GX120 engine, offering up to 118cc, makes short work of those pesky aerating tasks, clearing up to 22,000 sq ft with ease. Its foldable handle truly comes to the rescue when it comes to transporting this beast between jobs, as well as providing a compact storage solution when not in use. I was amazed at how effortlessly it maneuvered over rough terrain, thanks to its 12-inch semi-pneumatic tires that add not just stability but ease of operation as well.
However, there were a couple of cons I noticed too. The maintenance aspect, although easy with one-piece removable covers, could be more convenient with a bit of tool-free access. Also, this behemoth could do with some noise reduction – a feature that would be welcomed by any lawn-loving neighbor. All in all, it's no wonder why this PL1800H model is the go-to choice for many lawn enthusiasts. Yes, it's a bit noisy, and the maintenance might be slightly tricky at times. But the power, the maneuverability, and that green, lush lawn it provides? Worth every penny.

These Cricut Clear Acetate Sheets were recently making a major splash in my daily crafting routine. Perfect for stamping, embossing, or cutting, these sheets have become indispensable for my creative projects. Not only have they found their way into crafting gift boxes, they also came in handy when I was making custom window cards for friends' birthdays. One of the key selling points of these sheets is their anti-scratch film, ensuring that the product remains in prime condition till the very end. With their ability to work seamlessly with Cricut machines or any other sturdy crafting machinery out there, I knew I had stumbled upon a product that would become a staple in my craft room for ages to come.
The user-friendly aspect of these sheets was definitely a standout feature. Not only were they easy to use, but they also made my project look so much better in an instant. In terms of drawbacks, there was a minor issue with the sheets potentially scratching easily especially after the protective film was removed. However, with a bit of extra care during handling, this was something entirely manageable.
My experience with these sheets was absolutely fantastic! They have been the perfect addition to my crafting arsenal. Their versatility never ceases to amaze me. No matter what project I throw at them, they always seem to pull through with flying colors. I highly recommend investing in these sheets for your next project, no matter what it may be.

2024.06.02 08:20 hsb89 82 vs 58 regular season

I am from Europe and grew up on soccer. But have been following the NBA closely for over a decade, listening to podcast, watching games and you know, trying to follow the general discourse of the league. A reoccuring thing is the length and decreasing interest in the regular season. I know the reason why the league dont change thing is mostly economical, but what does mosre seasoned fans think? To me, anything other than a regular season where every team play eachother twice (home + away) seems both a little weird and not completely fair. I think it would make the regular season a lot more competative - give teams time to actually plan for what team they are playing next, more time to practice etc. If a 58 game regular season was introduced next season, would you prefer it over 82?

"Twenty thousand light years... give or take," I said.
We had just gotten our twenty-fifth contestant from our improv game show "Are There Fates Worse Than Death?" -- which is to say we'd collected twenty-five occupied life support pods that Ettienne Dorn wanted for... reasons.
These were all bad people, mind you, and I'm not even talking about the wishy washy "for a given value of bad" kind of way. We checked their records and found they were not only repeat offenders with a number of murders attributed to them, they'd been incarcerated more than once, only to be let off on technicalities, bribes, or overcrowding on prison ships.
We were all lined up to head to Sol and meet this Ettienne when I realized I had a minor case of undiagnosed dyslexia.
It wasn't Sol he was at, it was Los... a system out in Colonia, which is, as I'd just said, twenty thousand light years away.
The Back Bacon Express can jump thirty at a go.
Reese smacked her forhead at the news. "I am not going to Colonia!"
"Why not? It'll be fun."
"With a bunch of meat popscicles to be towed to Doctor Frankenstein? No chance!"
I tried to be reasonable. "Look, I don't intend to hang out with them any more than you do. I have a plan!"
"Oh really." She said, with a degree of faith in my abilities normally resreved for my parents.... don't ask.
"Look, there are fleet carriers going out to Colonia all the time. I already found one for us. We dock, unload, rent a cabin, hang out in the bar, and chill until we get there. Think of it as a paid vacation."
Now Reese looked like I might be onto something. "Okay, I can live with that. Where is it?"
I smiled and brought up the info on the fleet carrier, the system it was in, and its ammenities. She was even more impressed... Then she frowned.
"Uh, boss?"
"Yeah?"
"This ship left six hours ago."
I checked the time stamp, got angry, got depressed, accepted.
Reese sighed. "So... we're stuck with a bunch of really bad people on ice in our cargo hold until....?"
I shook my head. "I honestly have no idea. You know what, forget it. We'll make do in the bubble. Let's offload the trash and I'll set out feelers for our next job."
"You know this is a pretty lax law and order system," Reese said. "We'll probably be fighting them again by next week."
I rasied an eyebrow. "You proposing they 'accidentally' get dropped in the cargo recycler?"
She shrugged. "Accidents happen."
And they had happened before. I believe in second chances, but by the time you're on your fifth or six you probably aren't going to change.
"Not opposed to the idea, but there're worth close to a million if we turn them in."
"Our accounts are pretty flush at the moment," Reese countered.
I thought about it and pulled out a credit chit. "What say we flip for it?"
They were, after all, very VERY bad people.

AI Training objection
As many other creators I am completely against meta using my stuff to train their AI. I got the email for opting out yesterday and did so with all my profiles. From what I’ve seen so far it’s been quite difficult for many to just opt out but weirdly it was super easy for me?
As they stated they’ll still use my data if shared by others that didn’t object wich I find … well, it’s typical to give yourself a loophole to keep doing whatever you want, so there’s that and there’s nothing I can do about it.
So, fellow creators (and anyone objecting for that matter) - what is your plan B? Where are you going to keep sharing your art/running your business/not being used to train ai?
I’ve heard of Cara for artists once any they seem to be completely against AI but is there actually going to be a shift? Is anyone fed up enough to leave Instagram?

https://preview.redd.it/ja2b7lv4p34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c22b1f25e5a77ceb54c08dc24d442b72edf65c3d

During my time sailing on the open seas, I encountered a predicament where my boat's batteries were not being charged properly. That's when I stumbled upon the Blue Sea 7621100 ml ACR Charging Relay. This ingenious device quickly solved my problem, and I couldn't be happier with the results.
The Blue Sea Charging Relay has an automatic charging system that manages the charging of two large battery banks, which was essential in my case. Additionally, it allows me to parallel my battery banks during emergency starting, providing me with that extra peace of mind while out at sea.
Another impressive feature was the 500 Ampere continuous rating, which supported my high-output alternators. This device truly proved its worth by handling the heavy-duty charging tasks with ease.
However, there was one minor issue I encountered - the dual sensing system that senses the charge on both battery banks sometimes caused a bit of confusion while troubleshooting. But overall, the pros outweighed the cons, and I wholeheartedly recommend the Blue Sea 7621100 ml ACR Charging Relay to any sailor in need of a reliable battery management solution.

🔗Alpha Wire 2844/7 Black Hook-Up Wire (24AWG, 304.8m)

https://preview.redd.it/j3j1u6c5p34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97c62f850a237c37eb6f15a071d9d5c26620aa60
The Alpha Wire 2844/7 BK001 hook-up wire is the perfect solution for your electrical needs. It's a 24AWG stranded copper wire that's silver-coated for enhanced conductivity.
The black PTFE jacket provides an excellent insulating layer, making it durable and resistant to wear and tear. The wire is compact, with a 0.036" diameter and a thickness of just 0.006", allowing for easy installation without compromising on its strength. And with a voltage rating of 250V, you can rest easy knowing that it's perfectly designed to handle most household appliances.
I've found that not only does it work well in my daily life, but it's also quite reliable in terms of durability. Overall, this 2844/7 BK001 hook-up wire from Alpha Wire is a top-notch product that I would highly recommend to anyone in need of a reliable hook-up wire.

🔗ACR Olas Core Base Station and Mob Alarm System: MOB Alert with Ultra-Bright LED and Audible Alarm

https://preview.redd.it/wlecdi06p34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b800e5142af720f1ec92550a3f19845540f0f8d5
I recently had the chance to try out the ACR Olas Core Base Station and Mob Alarm System, and I must say, it's a game-changer for boaters. This small yet powerful device has saved me on more than one occasion. Say goodbye to those "Man Overboard" panics and hello to a reassuring safety net for your crew.
One thing that stood out to me was the base station's ability to connect with up to 15 wearable or float transmitters. It's like having a virtual lifeline for your crew, all within arm's reach. I particularly love the option to connect to the ACR Olas mobile app, which provides directional screens and essential MOB positioning prompts during recovery operations.
However, there were a few things I wish were different. For example, the device could be a bit more user-friendly, especially for people who may not be comfortable using technology. Also, I found the wearable transmitters to be a bit bulky, which might be an issue for those who want a sleeker look. But overall, the ACR Olas Core Base Station and Mob Alarm System certainly has my seal of approval.

🔗ACR HydroFix EPIRB Release Unit: Seamless Emergency Beacon Release

https://preview.redd.it/57x7v0h6p34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ff1d8c07162364b1500a9a3a63945bc6e500b675
I recently had the chance to try out the ACR Sea Shelter unit, part of the HydroFix Hydrostatic Release Unit family, and let me tell you, it truly lives up to its reputation as a reliable and user-friendly device.
One of the standout features of this unit is its compatibility with various ACR EPIRB categories. I found the installation process to be incredibly smooth, thanks to the included ACR Sea Shelter, Sea Shelter2, and Sea Shelter3 brackets. These brackets made fitting the unit onto my EPIRB a breeze.
Another great aspect of this release unit is its lack of reliance on battery, blade, or pyrotechnic device to release the beacon when an emergency occurs. The design is built for a quick, seamless, and dependable release in such situations.
However, I did notice that this product is date-stamped and must be replaced every two years from the date of installation or four years from the date of manufacture. While this might seem like a minor inconvenience, it's a good incentive to ensure your device is always up-to-date and functioning at its best.
Overall, my experience with the ACR Sea Shelter unit was very positive. The ease of installation, reliable release mechanism, and compatibility with various EPIRBs make it a valuable investment for anyone looking to ensure their safety at sea. Highly recommended!

🔗Compact, Resilient Personal Locator Beacon with Return Link Service

The ACR ResQLink View RLS beacon I've been using in my outdoor escapades is a remarkably compact and robust device. It's been meticulously designed, tested, and engineered to withstand even the most extreme environmental conditions. This beacon is also buoyant, which gives it an added edge in watery adventures.
One feature that really stands out is the Return Link Service (RLS) functionality. It's reassuring to know that if I ever need help, my distress message will be received, and my location detected, giving me peace of mind. The device also has a handy digital display that provides live status updates, and with no subscription needed, I don't have to worry about hidden costs.
The battery life is impressive, with a 5-year lifespan and an operational life of 28 hours. However, it's worth mentioning that the device is quite lightweight, which might affect its overall durability. But considering its excellent features and performance, I'd say the ResQLink View RLS is a top choice for anyone seeking a personal locator beacon.

🔗Raco 2844 Metallic Cast Compression Connector for EMT Conduit

https://preview.redd.it/swmbwq67p34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9406a84d6abaf3b8ae7e37fc7cd81a6515416208
The Raco 2844 Cast Uninsulated Compression, aka the Acr Electronics 2844, is a meticulously crafted conduit fitting that boasts an impressive 5.0 rating out of 16 reviews. Designed for EMT conduit, this connector offers a natural finish and robust die-cast zinc construction.
As someone who's been on the receiving end of this product, their CSA and UL listed standards left me confident with the quality of the build. The 2.19 inch overall length and 3.5 inch trade size make this connector a versatile option for your conduit fittings, while the compression connector design provides secure and concrete-tight connections. The ease of wrench installation is also a major plus, as it ensures a snug fit without any hassle.
However, I should note that this connector is non-insulated, so it may not be the best option for certain applications where insulation is a requirement. Additionally, the connector's zinc material may be subject to slight corrosion over time, which could slightly hinder its longevity. Nonetheless, the Raco 2844 Cast Uninsulated Compression is a reliable and efficient conduit fitting, perfect for those seeking a solid, wrench-installed connection in their electrical projects.

🔗Alpha Wire 2844/7 BR001 Hook-Up Wire - 24AWG, Brown, 305M Cable

https://preview.redd.it/9d5e9gk7p34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a8c7e9b72b1d040ac5bc56663d7684b3a59f0804
I've been using the Alpha Wire 2844/7 BR001 Hook-Up Wire for a while now, and it's been a game-changer in my daily life. The stranded copper, silver-coated conductor and PTFE jacket insulation make it a reliable and durable option, perfect for hooking up my electronic devices.
The 24 AWG wire gauge and 305m length have made it easy to work with, and I appreciate the flexibility it provides. The brown jacket insulation has a nice touch and is easy to spot in my messy workspace.
However, one thing I've noticed is that the voltage rating of 250V might not be suitable for all applications, so I had to double-check to make sure it was compatible with my devices.
Overall, the Alpha Wire Hook-Up Wire is a reliable and convenient solution for my electronics needs, and I highly recommend it for others looking for a high-quality wire.

🔗Weather-Resistant Audio Intercom with Hands-Free Loudspeaking

https://preview.redd.it/iwf03qx7p34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ec4c2c0665ec78774b1e1c5f72024e2bb2066d5
Using the Alpha Communications AM612/04S in my daily life has been a breeze. The hands-free loudspeaking feature works really well, allowing me to communicate without any hassle. The weather-resistant mylar speaker is a standout feature, as it ensures the device performs optimally outdoors, withstanding various weather conditions. The self-wiping push button switches are convenient, providing hassle-free access to the intercom.
However, one downside I've encountered is the presence of plastic buttons and grille, which might not be as durable as I'd like it to be. Additionally, the decorative end caps, while visually appealing, seem a bit flimsy. I've also noticed that the slim-line surface-mount option can cause some installation challenges when mounting the device directly on the wall, despite it being easy to install overall.

🔗Violet 24AWG Alpha Wire Hook-Up

https://preview.redd.it/0qdh67g8p34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=14776e54330273e6d08353a6f1830dbd2598cc93
I was tasked with reviewing an Alpha Wire 2844/7 VI001, a Hook-Up Wire with a 24 AWG copper conductor, coated in violet PTFE insulation. I found the product both durable and visually appealing. The silver coating on the conductor gives it a professional look, while the violet insulation is easier to spot in a busy lab or workshop.
However, I did notice a minor downside. Connecting and disconnecting the wire from its terminals can sometimes be a bit tricky due to the conductor's small size. Despite this minor inconvenience, the wire held up well in my daily use, and I'd recommend it for anyone seeking a reliable and attractive hook-up wire solution in their electrical projects.

🔗15A Rackmount Power Sequencer with 9 Outlets - ETL Listed, EMI/RFI Filtering, and Dual Activation Delay

https://preview.redd.it/bxeintk8p34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fcf3d45eac75a7bbb9559d105613e3e3bca93def
I recently had the chance to try out Lowell ACR-SEQ4-1509 15A Rackmount Power Sequencer, and I have to say, it made quite an impact in my daily life. The first thing that caught my eye was its compact design. It fits easily into any standard rack, and its steel chassis feels sturdy and reliable.
What stood out the most for me was the sequencer's ability to control the power flow to my devices. The front rocker switch effortlessly activated and deactivated the "switched" outlets in the back. The adjustable delay of 0.5 to 10 seconds between each step allowed me to tailor the power sequence to my specific needs.
But, the highlight of this product for me has to be the LED status indicators. They are color-coded and make it incredibly easy to understand the status of each powered device. The addition of the optional momentary remote switches is also a nice touch for those who require hands-free control.
The only downside I found was the lack of an on/off switch. While not a deal-breaker for me, it may be something others consider when purchasing this power sequencer.
Overall, Lowell ACR-SEQ4-1509 15A Rackmount Power Sequencer is a handy tool that makes managing my power connections a breeze. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to streamline their power distribution.

2024.06.02 08:14 AkumaZ Dojo Guide to Higher Scores

Aka your roadmap to the leaderboard!
Who am I? A dojo obsessed masochist who is nearing the end of mirroring every dojo fight (beating enemies with their weapon and style)
I’ve gotten on the leaderboard a few times in the process and it’s gotten me more interested in how it all works and figured sharing what I’ve learned can help others
Alright let’s start by breaking down the scoring, which will lead into some more detailed breakdown of things
You’re score is based on 3 things
Time
Damage
Technique
First off, Time. This is really your DPS score, the faster you kill the enemy the higher the score, I’ve seen upwards of around 4600 I think and I’m not sure you can get much higher than that, but this is truly a measure of how well you kill things.
Next: Damage. This is actually scored based on how much damage YOU take, with a max score of 4200. Now if you take even a single hit, that drops down 1-200 points depending on the severity of it and can quickly drain your score if you keep getting hit
Now if you’re only worried about the master rank of 7k, you can kinda see how just no hitting and killing fast regardless of anything else gets you there
So here’s where it gets more interesting
Tech. This is scored on 3 different things. How many crits you get, how many countersparks you get, and how many martial arts you land
The martial arts part I think has a quality and quantity score, aka landing a few big ass hits scores just as well landing a bunch of weaker ones, which is why you’ll still see good tech scores from Greatswords and Odachis despite less total MAs used
Now prior to the most recent update, it was just Crits and Countersparks, and typically the ceiling for that score was around 1600 or so. Now though, you can get tech scores 2000-2500+ if you’re landing martial arts all over. Sometimes then it’s actually worth it to drag a fight out a bit longer in order to get more Countersparks and MAs landed. You might lose 2-400 points on the time, but potentially gain 800+ on tech in the process
Again for the 7k threshold, this is easy as hell to reach with the change, but if you’re going for something higher like the leaderboard, you more or less have to do damage exclusively with Martial arts. After all any regular hit done doesn’t get you any points in itself (but if it helps you kill faster then it helps your time score)
So it serves you well to figure out what combination of MAs work for you and your favorite styles. Violent Gale and Flash attacks are also pretty crucial to this, not because they score points by themselves but they allow you to more quickly transition from skill to skill so you can land more scoring Martial Arts. PLUS they help your Ki management and recovery.
So how do you get in the leaderboard? Simple really
Don’t get hit, counterspark damn near everything thrown at you, deal damage almost exclusively with Martial arts, and get at LEAST one critical hit in the process. 2 is better but not always possible
Pre 1.05 9000 pts was sorta the threshold for “great”, didn’t take a perfect no hit run but overall excellent play. 10k+ was the realm of absolute perfection (or pre nerf Unearthly Flame)
Post 1.05, 9k isn’t such a hard thing to achieve, I’d say 9700ish is the new equivalent of that, with 10k+ being the next step, and likely puts you on the leaderboard. Absolute perfection with a meta strategy puts you in the 11k range
And not all fights are created equally, as an example I think Genzui first dojo fight actually has a higher scoring potential than the fierce version because of the mock vs actual combat, allowing you to get an extra crit and more countersparks
Let’s also compare the 2 different types of dojo fights. Mock combat and Actual Combat
Mock combat is with wooden weapons, damage is much lower and fights tend to be longer because of it. For your gear you’re only benefiting from your 4 armor pieces and 4 accessories so builds are more limited. In these fights, you’re often able to get 2 crits and sometimes 3 if you play well
Oh and if you like running 6 katana styles you need to enter into the dojo with 2 equipped, once you’re in the menu only gives you access to one of each weapon (except bayonet because its rifle and shotgun bullets)
This has made some of my sequential mirror fights a pain because I try to double up on weapons to flash attack between the same style
Actual combat is basically toned down real shit. You have access to your normal weapons, though they’re downtuned for base damage which means your bond transferred skills and set bonuses also apply. The base damage is higher compared to wooden weapons, on top of having more of your build available, leads to shorter, bloodier fights. If you use hard hitting big weapons sometimes a second crit is hard to come by because of the sheer DPS. Oh you also get your grapple hook! That can be a big deal if you’re running the Dragon set to make use of its grapple max ki damage
And now we get into some more details about MAs I’ve found work EXTREMELY well for dojo scoring, my MVP list
Remember the tech score includes critical hits and MA landing? Well there are some skills that do BOTH, so you get a double count on your score for using them. I highly recommend having one in your arsenal, and several veiled arts are included so there’s some flexibility
Now the downside of these arts is your Ki recovery is slower to start up after use compared to a regular triangle crit so be aware. Also the actual critical blow portion tends to come at the end of the move, so there’s a bit of lead time with it. The slower ones you’ll maybe consider using to actually be part of the final depletion process, but if you’re committed to a big combo that ends up fully depleting an enemy, there may not be enough time to do the entire art with the crit at the end, in those instances just take the regular crit
I apologize if the names are off, I’m doing this off memory at the moment
The number one art? Nozuchi Drop on Odachi (Mumyo). This is a triple threat. It’s a skill, it does a crit on a Ki depleted enemy, and on a panicked enemy it suplexes them. Plus it’s FAST and useful even if you’re not in a scenario to use the extra functions. Even when it takes the crit it’s a very fast and short animation which can save you precious time for your score. Plus the crit happens almost immediately so you run less of a risk of missing the crit compared to other moves. Works great in combos too because of its speed and as a standalone for the panic grab after deflecting attacks
Next I like Roaring Blade on Tennen Rishin Latana. It does a big ki pulse that can do a good deal of Ki damage and the downward slash can take the critical hit, good at the end of a combo when an enemy is near depletion.
Night raven(Mumyo) and Spring Storm (Jigen) on Katana. These are triple threats in a different way, and are especially useful in Mock Combat because they count as grapple attacks, so they can trigger the Dragon grapple ki without having your grapple! Oh and they also can take critical hits, so excellent choices all around
Twin Dragons (Mumyo) on paired swords. This is a GREAT art, it is fast, does a bunch of hits, does great Ki damage especially when blocked, and can take the crit
Bone Shatterer on bayonet. This is another solid one, does a great deal of Ki damage, does a BIG crit hit on Ki depleted, and overall just fun to use
Demon Bear on Greatswords. Decent, animation for the crit is a little long but you do start regenerating Ki sooner when you use it compared to others
There are others, every style (except unarmed) I think has at least one Veiled Art that can also crit but these are my favs
A couple non criticals worth mentioning
Autumn Current (Hokushin Itto) is a solid choice, does great damage, even better Ki damage (especially if they’re blocking) and you can run it as long as you have Ki. Be wary of overcommitting with it though, its easy to do
Shadow Double, a bit slow overall but can strip Ki very well. Gives you a somewhat long range option too. Not sure it’s worth using as a VA on another katana style but Gikei is a solid shinobi style so it’s there for you
Mugai-ryu Firecracker. Not a veiled art, has a tricky range, and a long recovery after using it. But it does a FUCK ton of Ki damage, if you use it after a violent gale so that you’re very close to an enemy that helps ensure it hits. I’m planning to experiment more with this one after I finish my mirror challenges
And if you haven’t checked out the write up on Panic, I’d recommend giving it a read, as learning to understand, plan, and manage panic is really the key to getting those low to no-hit high score runs
https://reddit.com/riseoftheronin/comments/1d5d23l/panic_is_maybe_the_most_important_mechanic_in/
That’s all I can think of at the moment, so get out there and start scoring some points!

🔗Leupold Gold Ring 12-40x60mm HD Folded Light Path Spotting Scope

https://preview.redd.it/2v7w7gigo34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a8887ea0a1ec33298b6844bbcd933867019fbc8
I recently got my hands on the Leupold Gold Ring 12-40x60mm HD Spotting Scope, and I must say it's a game-changer! This little powerhouse boasts an Extra Low Dispersion Optical System, which maximizes color fidelity and contrast. It provides an incredible image across a wide field of view, all with best-in-class eye relief for easy viewing with or without eyeglasses.
One feature that really stood out for me was the Folded Light Path (FLP) system. Instead of using prisms, this system employs mirrors to compress a long optical path into half its length, making the scope incredibly compact and portable.
Another highlight is its magnesium housing. This lightweight material packs a serious punch when it comes to durability, making it ideal for rough outdoor conditions. And don't even get me started on the 100% waterproof and fog proof capabilities - this thing can brave any weather!
However, one issue I encountered was with the focus knob. It's extremely stiff and doesn't change smoothly as you adjust the magnification. It took me quite a few tries to get used to it. Additionally, there's no diopter adjustment, but the good eye relief somewhat compensates for that.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I've been thoroughly impressed by the Leupold Gold Ring HD Spotting Scope. Its top-notch optical performance combined with its rugged construction makes it a strong contender in the realm of spotting scopes. If you're in the market for one, this could be an excellent investment.

🔗TruGlo Crossbow Scope with Unisex Camo Design

https://preview.redd.it/d5ujr01ho34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=99a9af21cfa130e89f2820b2653cde1301f95524
I've recently had the chance to try out the TruGlo 4x32 Rangefinding/Trajectory Compensating Crossbow Scope, a nifty piece of equipment for enthusiastic crossbow users like me. The scope's main highlight was its ability to find the range and calculate the correct trajectory for my crossbow bolts. In my experience, this feature proved to be quite handy in my local archery range, particularly for those days when the wind and temperature were unstable.
One of the things that stood out to me was the scope's robustness. It was designed to handle the harsh conditions of the outdoors, as evidenced by the sturdy aluminum body and the shock-resistant construction. This scope also offered a generous 4-inch eye relief, a feature that helped protect my eyes during those blustery hunting sessions.
The scope's lenses were fully-coated, making them highly resistant to glare, a common concern for crossbow users shooting in low-light conditions. Additionally, the durable leavespring for windage and elevation adjustments were a welcomed bonus, allowing me to finetune my shots with ease.
On the downside, one of the screws on the scope rings was stripped, a minor issue that wasn't a deal-breaker. I also discovered that the scope wasn't rated specifically for a particular crossbow speed. To achieve optimal accuracy, I had to adjust the scope manually, which was a bit tricky and time-consuming.
Regardless of these minor downsides, the TruGlo 4x32 Rangefinding/Trajectory Compensating Crossbow Scope proved to be an essential piece of equipment in my hunting arsenal. Its ease of use, durable construction, and helpful features make it an excellent choice for anyone seeking to upgrade their crossbow hunting experience.

🔗Revolutionary Ravin Xero X1i Integrated Crossbow Scope

https://preview.redd.it/a63avkeho34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6a1427991123efa897ef066624798c6b3f4522f
The Ravin Xero X1i Crossbow Scope by Garmin quickly became my go-to after its impressive features caught my eye. I've always had a bit of trouble getting the distance right when aiming with a crossbow, but with its built-in rangefinding and digital auto-ranging, it made everything so much easier. I loved the 3.5x magnification, which allowed me to spot my target without any hassle.
But the best part was definitely the Target Lock technology, which let me know when the scope was locked on a target with consistent readings. It made every shot feel like a guaranteed bullseye, and I'm really pleased with the accuracy it offered.
However, the scope was a bit heavy, and carrying it around for extended periods was quite tiring. Also, while the digital display was easy to read, the interface could've been a bit more user-friendly for faster adjustments. Overall, the Ravin Xero X1i is an impressive piece of technology that definitely gives me an edge in my hunting game.

🔗Swarovski ATS-65 HD 20-60x65mm Spotting Scope: Lightweight & Comfortable for Outdoor Observations

https://preview.redd.it/w1lnhtqho34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec13ba12620d74d3a8c2376cbf84364bec4b4722
When I received the Swarovski ATS-65 HD 20-60x65mm Spotting Scope, I was ecstatic to finally have my own to join fellow bird watchers on our adventures. The first thing I noticed about this scope was its user-friendly ergonomic design. It was comfortable to hold and easy to maneuver, even with glasses on.
One feature that stood out was its bright, high contrast view. The SWAROCLEAN non-stick lens coatings did an excellent job of minimizing color aberrations, ensuring the image was clear and vibrant. However, I did find that the scope could be a bit heavy for long observation periods.
When comparing it to other spotting scopes, the ATS-65 HD truly shined in terms of its edge-to-edge sharpness and color fidelity. It was lightweight and comfortable, making it perfect for long days outdoors. Overall, I would highly recommend this spotting scope to anyone looking for a versatile and high-quality tool for their outdoor adventures.

🔗Advanced 15-45x60 FDE T Series Scope with ED Prime Glass and Mil-Hash Reticle

https://preview.redd.it/81jmd3bio34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4eee283aa324bd37f4207abb33fc79035e2800bf
I've been using this Bushnell T spotting scope in my outdoor activities, and it's been quite the experience. The Mil-Hash reticle works seamlessly with the Mil-Base riflescope reticle, making zeroing a breeze. The scope has a heavy-duty, militaristic feel with a rubberized coating. The Picatinny rail mounts are a nice touch, and they're also compatible with a red dot sight for added accuracy.
The optical clarity is what one can expect at this price point, but it does the job well enough. The lens caps make it a breeze to protect the glass from dust, debris, and other environmental conditions. The only issue I had with the front lens cap is the lack of a lanyard attachment, making it easily misplaced.
The case, on the other hand, left me concerned about Bushnell's overall quality. The Velcro stitching on the lens flap failed on the first day, and the scope case seems too small for the scope. The magnification setting ring could use some improvement as well, but overall, it's an acceptable addition.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the scope has proven to be durable and holds up well under rough outdoor conditions. Its compact design and easy-to-handle eyepiece make it a top choice for avid spotters. With a solid construction, good image quality, and an attractive price point, this Bushnell T series spotting scope is worth considering for your next outdoor adventure.

🔗UHD Spotting Scope with Apochromatic Lens System and Advanced Fully Multi-Coated Lenses

https://preview.redd.it/2lgb92nio34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4dc031a27faacc5b16ca564bee0c54e1e265a1d
In the world of optics, the Athlon Optics Ares G2 UHD 20-60x85 Straight Spotting Scope has made a name for itself. It's not just for the birders spotting variances in plumage from far away or for the precision shooters who aim for targets at 1,000 yards, the scope's extra-low dispersion glass provides vivid clarity and resolution in a full-size spotting scope.
Athlon has cleverly designed it to be lightweight although strong, making it comfortable to carry and use for long periods. The aluminum alloy chassis adds to its strength without making it too heavy. With its twist-up eye-cup, it allows you to set the eyecup to the perfect eye relief for your eyes, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience.
Its ESP Dielectric Coating gives you an advantage in viewing with an image that has little or no chromatic fringe for the clearest and sharpest image. The UHD Glass in the lens helps in converging refracting colors into one focus point, producing greater contrast, sharpness, and color definition.
Reflecting over 99% of the light to your eyes, the scope brings you a clear, bright image and accurate color reproduction, thanks to the BaK4 Prisms coupled with advanced fully multi-coated lenses. It produces perfect brightness and color across the entire light spectrum, making viewing under different lighting conditions a breeze.
And when it comes to durability, the scope doesn't disappoint. It comes with an extra protective layer coating that keeps the exterior of the lens free from dirt and scratches. It's also Argon Purged and Waterproof, ensuring weatherproof performance even in harsh conditions. Purging allows for better waterproofing/fogging, making sure your scope doesn't fog up when you switch environments.
Overall, it's a joy to use this spotting scope. It's not just about viewing in high detail but also the ease it offers in using it. You won't be disappointed with its performance and features.

🔗Zeiss Conquest Gavia 85 Spotting Scope - Angled, 30-60x85, 10.8ft MFD, 15.6in L

https://preview.redd.it/6ki9ix8jo34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=14fa9cebca0d9e023a6b70e7bce8d0960220f745
I recently had the chance to test out the Zeiss Conquest Gavia 85 Spotting Scope, and I must say, it's quite the remarkable piece of equipment. The first thing that stood out to me was its lightweight magnesium alloy housing, which made it easy to pack and carry on my outdoor adventures. I've used several spotting scopes in the past, but this one felt noticeably more comfortable to hold and maneuver.
One of the most impressive features of this scope is its impressive magnification and objective lens, which made distant objects seem as if they were right in front of me. I was particularly impressed with the sharpness and clarity of the image, even in low light conditions. The use of ZEISS' iconic T anti-reflection multi-coatings and LotuTec hydrophobic exterior lens coatings really made a difference when observing wildlife up close.
The eyepiece's 45° angle to the optical tube and adjustable tripod collar allowed for comfortable viewing in various positions, making it a great choice for those who enjoy hunting or birdwatching from different vantage points. I also appreciated the easy manipulation of the focus collar and zoom wheel, which made it simple to make adjustments without taking my eyes off the scope.
One thing that caught my attention was the scope's waterproof and fog-proof design. It was reassuring to know that I could use it in various weather conditions without worrying about damage to the optics. The universal tripod mount was also a great feature, as it allowed me to easily attach the scope to a variety of tripods I already had on hand.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks I noticed during my time with the Zeiss Conquest Gavia 85 Spotting Scope. Firstly, the price point might be a bit steep for some users who are looking for a more budget-friendly option. Additionally, while the scope excelled in most aspects, it did struggle with chromatic aberration, which was noticeable in some images.
Overall, the Zeiss Conquest Gavia 85 Spotting Scope delivered a fantastic, immersive viewing experience. Its high-quality optics, comfortable design, and reliable performance make it a top contender for anyone in the market for a premium spotting scope.

🔗Athlon Argos 20-60x85 HD Straight Angle Spotting Scope: High Quality, Durable, and Waterproof Optical Scope

https://preview.redd.it/uwi54iwjo34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=73e2ee0692eecb5fba353535c2f545ac53e532b2
I've been using the Athlon Argos 20-60x85 HD Straight Angle Spotting Scope for a few weeks now, and I have to admit, it has been a game-changer for my hunting adventures. The quality of the optics is impressive, with the high-grade Argon gas providing excellent fog-proof capabilities and the BaK4 Prisms reflecting more light to my eyes for a sharper, brighter image.
One feature that has particularly stood out to me is the strength and lightweight nature of the composite chassis, which is protected by rubber armor and filled with nitrogen gas for added durability and waterproofing. This spotting scope also comes with a soft case that allows you to mount it on a tripod and use it with the case on, which is a convenient and practical touch.
However, there have been a few minor drawbacks in my experience. Adjusting the eyecup to the perfect eye relief for my eyes can be a bit tricky, and the low thermal conductivity of the Argon gas can sometimes make it a little difficult to get to the optimal focus.
Despite these minor issues, the Athlon Argos 20-60x85 HD Straight Angle Spotting Scope has been an excellent addition to my hunting gear. It offers a great balance of quality and affordability, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking to level up their target sighting and bird watching experiences.

The Athlon Optics Argos HD 20-60x85 spotting scope captured my attention with its high-grade Argon gas and BaK4 Prisms, which deliver a fog-free experience and impressive image clarity. I was particularly impressed with the advanced fully multi-coated lenses that reflect more light, giving me sharper and brighter images. The composite chassis not only provides strength but is also much lighter than I had anticipated.
One feature that stood out in my experience was the twist-up eye-cup, allowing me to easily adjust the eye relief to suit my own comfort. In addition, the argon purged and waterproof design provided an added layer of protection during my outdoor adventures.
While I was largely satisfied with this spotting scope, I did encounter a couple of downsides. Occasionally, the image seemed slightly blurry when zoomed in at max power, though this was less of an issue overall. Additionally, some users reported difficulties with perfect focus, a challenge I experienced myself but found manageable with some adjustment.
Overall, I believe the Athlon Optics Argos HD spotting scope offers a solid balance of performance and affordability, making it a worthwhile choice for outdoor enthusiasts seeking quality optics without breaking the bank.

As a nature enthusiast, I recently had the chance to try out the Athlon Optics Cronus G2 20-60x86mm UHD Spotting Scope and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Boasting an Apochromatic Lens System and ED glass, I was able to achieve great color definition, clarity, and light transmission even in the trickiest of lighting conditions.
Even in the most challenging settings, such as dimly lit forests or shadowed treelines, the Cronus G2's enhanced contrast allowed me to easily separate my subject from its surroundings. Its versatile magnification ranges from 20x to 60x, offering unparalleled flexibility when scouting for game.
However, I did notice that the scope might be a bit bulky for some beginners, as it weighs around 40 oz. However, its overall performance and the smoothness of its single focus wheel make up for that setback.
In conclusion, the Athlon Optics Cronus G2 20-60x86mm UHD Spotting Scope is a fantastic investment for anyone looking for premium optics at an affordable price. I highly recommend it for hunters, birdwatchers, and nature lovers who desire exceptional clarity and image quality.

As an avid birdwatcher, I've been using the Vortex Razor HD 13-39x56 Spotting Scope for a while now, and it's been nothing short of remarkable. The compact design makes it super convenient to carry around, and I love how lightweight it feels. The clarity and sharpness of the image are outstanding, making it so easy to spot even the tiniest details on my feathered friends.
The adjustable magnification is another feature I've grown fond of. It's so effortless to switch between different magnification levels, giving me that extra edge when I need to zoom in on a specific bird. I also appreciate the ergonomic shape of the eyepiece, making it comfortable to use for extended periods.
However, the one downside I've noticed is the slight difficulty in focusing. Sometimes, it takes a bit of finesse to get the image looking razor-sharp, but once you've got it sorted, it's smooth sailing from there.
Overall, the Vortex Razor HD 13-39x56 Spotting Scope has been an absolute game-changer for me. Its superb optics, convenience, and ease of use have made it a go-to tool for all my birdwatching adventures, and I can't imagine going back to using anything else.

With its fully multi-coated lenses, the scope has breathed life into the game, allowing me to see the smallest details on my targets. It has a solid build with a waterproof and fog-proof body, perfect for the unpredictable weather conditions of nature.
One of the first things that caught my attention was its adjustable rotating ring, which allowed me to position the scope in the most comfortable angle for observation. This gave me a sense of control and comfort while I was out in the wild.
However, one aspect that could have been improved was the tripod, which felt a bit flimsy. But thankfully, I was able to replace it with a more robust one as per my preference.
Despite its minor drawbacks, the Athlon Talos Spotting Scope has been a reliable companion on my hunting expeditions. It has provided me with clear, bright images, allowing me to make accurate shots and successfully bag my targets. One of the standout features I've experienced is the incredibly smooth and powerful zoom, which has allowed me to truly get up close and personal with the wonders of the world.
However, I have to admit that there have been a few instances where I wished the scope had some additional attachments, like lens caps, to prevent losing them – although I'm a fan of the multicoated lens, which provides a stunningly clear and bright image even on the darkest of nights.
Overall, the Nikon ProStaff 5 has been an excellent addition to my toolkit for both leisurely nature walks and serious outdoor pursuits. Its exceptional quality and durability have not only boosted my appreciation for the great outdoors, but have also instilled a newfound sense of adventure within me.

Buyer's Guide

When it comes to choosing the right ACOG scope, there are several factors you should consider. In this buyer's guide, we'll discuss the general features, considerations, and advice to help you make an informed decision.

Why choose ACOG scopes?

ACOG scopes are known for their durability, reliability, and exceptional optical clarity. These high-quality tactical scopes are perfect for hunting, law enforcement, military operations, and serious shooting enthusiasts. They offer a wide range of magnification options, adjustable turret settings, and a variety of reticle styles to suit different shooting scenarios.

https://preview.redd.it/rtfkqq9oo34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5914d0818982dc4a4a6723345a3d6de4bc7fc1dc

Magnification

Magnification is a crucial factor when selecting an ACOG scope. These scopes typically offer varying magnification options, from 2x to 12x or even higher. Consider the type of shooting you'll be doing and the distance at which you'll be engaging targets. If you plan to take long-range shots or compete in precision shooting events, you may want to opt for a higher magnification range. On the other hand, if you're primarily focused on close-range shooting or engaging targets at short distances, a lower magnification range may be more suitable.

Reticle style

ACOG scopes offer a variety of reticle styles to suit different shooting needs. Some common reticle styles include the T2 MOA, T1 MOA, T3 MOA, and the SCR (Sniper Combat Rifle) reticle. Each reticle has its unique features and benefits. For example, the T1 is popular among long-range precision shooters due to its accurate and fine crosshairs, while the T2 has a more dense post that provides accurate ranging and holdover values. It's essential to choose a reticle that aligns with your shooting skills and preferred shooting style.

Brightness and light transmission

Another important factor to consider is the brightness and light transmission capabilities of the ACOG scope. High-quality scopes often feature multi-coated lenses that enhance light transmission and improve overall image brightness. This is particularly important when shooting in low-light conditions or during twilight hours. To ensure maximum visibility, consider a scope with an adjustable brightness setting that allows you to fine-tune the reticle illumination to your preference.

https://preview.redd.it/p8nf7hnoo34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d38f8abeb4ab54fa362568a24b09faf074429854

Construction and durability

ACOG scopes are known for their high durability and rugged construction, making them ideal for harsh outdoor environments. They are typically built with aircraft-grade aluminum and feature waterproof, shockproof, and fog-resistant design to ensure long-lasting performance.

Mount type

When selecting your ACOG scope, consider the type of mount you'll need. Some popular mount options include the ACOG quick detach, ACOG low mount, and ACOG high mount. The choice of mount will depend on the specific firearm and shooting scenario. Most ACOG scopes come with mounting hardware, but it's essential to ensure compatibility before purchasing.

Maintenance and care

To ensure the longevity of your ACOG scope, it's crucial to follow proper maintenance and care guidelines. Regularly clean your scope with a high-quality optic cleaning solution, and store it in a secure case to protect it from dirt, dust, and potential damage. Additionally, avoid exposing your scope to extreme temperatures, as this can affect its performance and longevity.
By considering these key factors, you'll be well-equipped to select the perfect ACOG scope for your specific needs and shooting requirements. Happy hunting!

2024.06.02 08:13 KiaraKawaii Guide: How to play FIRST STRIKE Nami

TLDR enclosed for each section directly under their respective subheading in bolded font

1. CONTENTS

Having originally posted this on NamiMains, I have come forth with a rune page that has been rising in popularity on enchanters: First Strike. Not only is this applicable on Nami, but on a lot of other enchanters who have decent range
The following guide has been split into these sections: - 1. CONTENTS - 2. Credentials - 3. So how/why does it work? - 4. ITEMS - 5. RUNES - 6. Core Mechanics of Nami W - 7. Final Words
Due to the length and detail of this guide, I can understand if some fishies don't wish to read everything. In which case, I have included TLDRs in this post. For ease of access, here are some formatting guidelines for the TLDRs of this post:
The following guide has been split into sections for easier navigation, if u are in a hurry for a specific section, scroll down to find the specific subheading that u need. Each explanation is also lengthy, but if u want a brief TLDR of each section, it will be enclosed for each section directly under their respective subheading in bolded font

2. Credentials

I know that some people really care about credentials, so I am leaving this here. Feel free to skip this section and jump straight into the content if it does not concern u
I am a Master tier enchanter main with over 2.7mil points on Nami. I am by no means a perfect player, I still make mistakes and have plenty of areas to improve on
So, please note that the following information serves as a recommendation and general guideline. It was compiled based off of my own personal experience. Said information is not concrete, nor is it a law that you must follow. You are entitled to your own preferences, playstyles, and opinions, which may differ from mine. My only intent here is to share information that some players may find helpful

3. So how/why does it work?

TLDR (for this section): - Take First Strike vs matchups you outrange - Nami E on allies procs First Strike - The new Jack of All Trades rune should be utilised (see below for how)
Before I get into the specific build, I first need to explain how and why this whole setup works. First Strike is mostly taken as a gold-accelerating rune vs matchups that u outrange, ensuring that u get the "first strike" onto enemies consistently. With the changes to First Strike giving more base gold on the initial hit and less gold on subsequent hits compared to before, it pairs really well with a lot of enchanters' poke patterns. Usually, we have one poke spell and not much followup. The current First Strike matches this poke pattern perfectly (think Nami W, Sona E, Seraphine passive-empowered autos etc), allowing us to get an extra 15g per proc on top of our support item gold
On Nami specifically, we have an additional way to proc First Strike, since Nami E on allies actually procs First Strike! The best part of this interaction is that ur ally can be hit by enemies with ur E buff, but bc it wasn't you being hit directly, u will still retain the First Strike bonuses if ur ally hits enemies back with ur E buff despite being hit first! A common issue raised with this point is "what if my ADC is bad and doesn't use my E buff?" Don't worry, I got u covered too! So, whenever u empower an auto or ability that is still travelling middair towards the enemy, if u E urself or ur ally during said auto/ability, the slow and bonus dmg from E will still apply on impact. So, if u notice that ur ADC has cast an auto or ability onto the enemy, try to E them while this auto/ability is still travelling towards the enemy. Not only will this maximise E duration, give enemies minimal time to react to the slow and extra dmg, but it will also ensure that u proc First Strike due to E buff, as well as Manaflow Band and other item effects
This also works on ur own autos and abilities, and chaining abilities tgt like this will also help to cancel Nami's lengthy spell animation for more efficient trade patterns, hence better First Strike usage. Since W is our most consistent poke ability, we ideally want to start with this ability when trying to proc First Strike. This differs slightly from the regular Aery setup where we want to auto -> E ourself while our auto is still middair travelling towards enemy -> W enemy -> bubble/ult or let the bounceback heal retaliate enemy dmg. Instead, we want to W -> E ourselves while W is still middair travelling towards the enemy -> auto -> disengage with bounceback heal or bubble/ult. Additional tip: If you hover over Nami's W, you may notice multiple rings. The outer ring indicates Nami's W range when self-cast, meaning that the ability has a slightly longer range when you cast it on yourself bouncing towards an enemy (25 more range) rather than casting it on an ally to bounce or straight onto an enemy. So if u ever need to W urself first, or need just a bit of extra range, make sure to utilise this. To execute this most effectively, I recommend using alt+W for self-cast
I'm able to come out of lane with 300-400 gold fairly consistently. Pair this with free boots or Cash Back, and u can essentially double this amount of gold. Since enchanters tend to be quite item-reliant, having this extra gold generation allows us to reach our item spikes a lot faster, further increasing the snowball potential

3.1. Jack of All Trades

Supports are actually able to utilise the new Jack of All Trades rune surprisingly well. Our support item alone already covers 3 of the 10 stats required. Here are the list of stats that we will generally be able to obtain on supports: - AP - HP - Health Regen - Mana Regen - Haste - Movespeed - %Movespeed - Heal/Shield Power - Armor - Magic Resist - Mana (?) - Magic Pen (?)
In order to get these stats, we will need our support item which gives HP, health regen, and mana regen. Most items will cover the haste component. Boots for the movespeed stat. Ardent will give us the %movespeed as well as heal/shield power. But if we don't need Ardent, then we can split this into any other heal/shield power item + Shurelya's. Armor + magic resist can be optained from Locket or Wardstone. Alternatively, if we don't need armor + magic resist, we can instead trade these stats for magic pen + mana instead (will also explain this in further detail below)
As you can see, the items required for Jack are situational items. It is important to identify during champ select if said items, particularly Ardent/Shurelya's + Locket/Wardstone, will be built for this game. Altho, these items will be applicable in most situations anyway
If u don't need these items for that particular game, or if u don't feel like u'll be able to reach all these stats for whatever reason, then Cosmic Insight is always a great staple. Lower summ cds for lower Flash and Heal cds, notoriously long-cd spells, as well as item haste. Item haste works on non-active item cds such as Dream MakeCelestial/Solstice/Zaz'Zak's cds, Mandate mark cds, as well as lowering trinket cd etc.

4. ITEMS

TLDR (for this section): - Skip paragraphs to see builds under their respective subheadings (4.1. Defensive Build and 4.2. AP Build) below - Each individual dot point reperesents one individual item slot
Alright, now that all the theory work is out of the way, we can finally move onto the specific build (what everyone is here for). There are two main builds to go about this. Each individual dot point reperesents one individual item slot:

4.1. Defensive Build

This build is run in situations where u need the defensive stats from Locket or Wardstone vs harder comps or matchups, with Locket being particularly good vs AoE and/or burst dmg. This build will also cover all the stats from Jack of All Trades (see list from previous section)
Ardent is the most efficient item for Jack due to it providing mana regen, heal/shield power, and %movespeed, all in one item. This will free up an extra item slot where we can buy a situational item, like antiheal, or if it's not needed then Dark Seal into Mejai's is always a great alternative for cheap AP (Nami has good AP ratios), or any other alternative item that u may need. Just make sure to buy Ardent before this situational item in order to max out Jack
However, it may not always be an Ardent game. In situations where it isn't an Ardent game (non-autoattack-reliant comps), u will need to split the %movespeed and heal/shield power stats into 2 separate items. Typically, Shurelya's + any other Forbidden Idol item will cover this. You can also go for any other item that gives %movespeed, but I find Shurelya's the most consistent. The main downside is ofc, the build being quite rigid if u go for this option (no room for antiheal or other situational items)

4.2. AP Build

This is a more AP-focused build in situations where u don't need to be so defensive. We omitted the armor and magic resist from Locket/Wardstone for mana (Archangel's) and magic pen (Sorc Shoes). Nami E on allies uses her own magic pen, hence Sorc Shoes here

5. RUNES

TLDR:
The more specifics to optimise ur runes to their respective builds:

5.1. Runes for Defensive Build

Omitted free boots for Cash Back. Since this is for the defensive build, we will need to rush Lucidity boots vs hard matchups. Not only are Lucidity boots a cheaper option so it gives a faster spike in movespeed vs skillshot-heavy lanes, the lower Flash cd will be good vs engage lanes. Jack vs Cosmic has been explained in previous sections
Manaflow + Transcendence is default. For in-depth explanation:
Manaflow is essential for defensive build. Only go Absolute Focus in situations where enemies lack poke, allowing u to maintain the HP threshold for the AP. Transcendence is a good default, when unsure u can always default to this due to Nami's long cds. Pair both these with double adaptive minor shards option. Celerity if u need the movespeed vs heavy-skillshot comps (pair this with the 2% movespeed minor shard option)
I personally don't recommend Scorch with the First Strike setup due to the scaling nature of this build. However, Scorch is typically good with early-game ADCs or matchups where u have early pressure. Scorch also barely adds any bonuses to First Strike, especially as the game progresses. Avoid Scorch if enemies have sustain, as they can easily outheal or outshield that bit of Scorch dmg. When unsure, or in any other situation, go Gathering Storm

5.2. Runes for AP Build

Due to the more expensive nature and higher scaling potential of this build, go free boots so that u can focus on rushing items. Since we go Archangel's with this build, we won't need Manaflow. For maximum scaling, I recommend Absolute Focus + Gathering Storm (also the greediest option). Otherwise, Transcendence as explained prior

6. Core Mechanics of Nami W

TLDR (for this section): - More than 100AP -> subsequent bounces heal/dmg MORE - Less than 100AP -> subsequent bounces heal/dmg LESS
Smth absolutely crucial to these First Strike builds, as well as any other AP Nami builds, is understanding her W bounce mechanic. I often get asked why AP Nami, so I will just include this section here as well. For the fellow fishies who already about this, please feel free to skip this section
The reason why AP Nami is a thing is bc of the way her W scaling works to begin with. We unironically heal more with AP builds than enchanter builds. Allow me to explain:
Patch 14.6: 'The damage and healing value is modified by *-15% (+7.5% per 100AP)** each bounce.'*
Patch 14.7: 'The damage and healing value is modified by *-10% (+10% per 100AP)** each bounce.'*
Before I explain how to get crazy heal/dmg numbers on Nami's W bounces, I first need to explain her unique scaling on W. Unlike most other enchanters who benefit from heal/shield power, Nami's W has a unique scaling where subsequent bounces become weaker pre-100AP, and become stronger post-100AP. This threshold was at 200AP before the most recent changes on her, so they buffed it significantly by lowering the threshold down to only requiring 100AP instead of 200, making AP builds even more potent now in terms of healing and dmg. As such, Nami benefits more from stacking AP than heal/shield power
To give some perspective, previously if I had 200AP my W bounces would be equally as strong as each subsequent bounce. However, with these changes, with 200AP our W is now amped by 10%, and will continue amping by 10% for every 100AP. Getting 400AP on AP Nami builds is very doable with the right setup, buffing our subsequent bounces by 30% per bounce. This means our second bounce will be 30% stronger than the first, and our third bounce will be 60% stronger than the first bounce, which does not need further explaining as to why this is absolutely obnoxious when it comes to dmg and healing values
These changes also mean that a lot of Nami players will need to learn to prioritise their bounces according to what they need. Before, some enchanter builds struggled to reach the 200AP threshold, so we could just autopilot the first bounce without giving it much thought. Now, bounce prioritisation will actually become a prominent part of her kit
To explain how to alternate W effectively with an example, if my primary target (the one I want to dmg/heal the most) is A and my secondary target (less priority target) is B, then I will alternate my W bounces as follows:
And ofc, if u have Mandate then make sure to use E before W to ensure ur W bounces do even more dmg and proc Mandate c:

7. Final Words

I really hope this helps out some fellow supports. This build can be a bit difficult to grasp at first, and will take some time to learn and get used to. But always rmb that when unsure u can always go back to Aery as it will always remain the most consistent option overall
I'm also aware that First Strike is being nerfed next patch from 15g -> 10g. Personally, I think it could still be situationally good. Also, I apologise for any typos that may have been made, as the post was quite lengthy (so I may have missed some typos while proofreading)
This is also my first time making a post to this this degree of length and detail, so if there are any formatting errors or discomforts, please feel free to leave feedback below for me to improve on! For those who stayed til the end, I genuinely want to thank u and appreciate ur time and support 🥺🩷🩷
**Disclaimer:* In order to avoid unnecessary conflicts and misunderstandings, please note that the above information serves as a recommendation and general guideline intended to explain the phenomena. It is based off of my own personal experience, as well as research of other players. Thus, said information is by no means perfect, nor is it a law that you must follow. You are entitled to your own preferences, playstyles, and opinions, which may differ from mine* ®

2024.06.02 08:08 smala017 "HTTYD: The Hidden World" is a thematic betrayal of the series

"How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World" is a total betrayal of the themes established earlier in the series, particularly in the first movie. "How To Train Your Dragon" was fundamentally about Hiccup proving to the adults in the room that humans and dragons could live together happily ever after, that Hiccup's wildest dreams were possible if he is willing to fight for them. These were great lessons that taught viewers to dream big, to stay true to themselves, and to never give up on what they loved.
And then the third movie rolls around and completely undercuts that. Now that Hiccup is the adult in the room, he stops believes that humans and dragons can coexist, he decides that his dreams of a future with Toothless and the dragons are not possible in reality, and he gives up on trying to make that happen. It's like the movie is saying "hey, HTTYD1, that's a nice fairytale, but Hiccup is grown up now, and all you viewers are too, so it's important for you all to know that fairytales aren't real!"
If anything, HTTYFD:THW symbolizes the moral corruption that occurs when a child becomes an adult and is forced to deal with the problems of the Real World; the child loses sight of the dreams and values he once knew and becomes one of the heartless adults his younger self would despise.

She informed them, in front of the media cameras, that she wasn't a hero, and she sure as hell hadn't voted for ANY of their 'spineless asses'."
"Are you alright sir?" His aid asked as he involuntarily inhaled the swallow of orange juice he had been taking.
"Yes, yes." He cleared his airway and waved for the man to continue. "Just went down the wrong pipe."
His aid looked back at the file in his hands, found his spot and continued. "She actively refused the subsequent Medal of Valor the Senate tried to give her at the time." He paused again. "Ahh, this may be why she was never promoted further. It seems Sgt Thornton, in one way or another while extremely qualified for Naval leadership has managed to piss off enough politicians that even if the Navy tried to get her promoted, they wouldn't be able to." He finished.
"Thank you Bill, anything else I should know before I kick the proverbial hornets nest called the Senate?" Asked President Owlan of the U.S. Alliance. Ms. Thornton deserved something for what she had just done, not to mention for her prior services for the Alliance. " Or how to reward Ms. Thornton and get her to accept it?" He ran his hand through his short brown hair.
"Well Sir, with the Senate being deadlocked right now there is no way of knowing exactly how they will take your offer to Admiral Vahl Mub and the Orion refugees. As far as they know the Orion's we currently have on the Phoenix and Titon 7 are the only surviving members of their species, except maybe a few spacers that might have been away from their system. So technically he has the right to speak for them in front of the Senate. However, we really need to find this 'Regent' that he keeps referring to. They will definitely have the authority to speak for if not the entire Orion species, then at least those refugees from their planet Farcee."
He nodded, it would be a lot easier to sell their entrance into the Alliance if they could find this Orion leader to speak for them. Problem was, during the incident at the B111 Gate pretty much everyone on The Claw and Regents Pride had jettisoned in life pods and though the U.S. Alliance had found a lot of them, in the debris field left from two ships reactors going critical, no one could guarantee they got them all no matter how good the Navy's search and rescue was. The Admiral refusing to speak for his people had put a hold up on his administration pushing through an amendment to allow Interstellar Refugees temporary civilian status. The current law's allowed for them to be accepted but would never allow for them to stay long term, or even offer them an opportunity to become citizens.
From the information he had been given on the situation, and the Swarm ships captured there after, Ms. Thornton had saved billions of Alliance lives, possibly even the Cradle itself if any of those bugs had managed to reach a planet. He had been briefed by Admiral Hornn on that evolving situation and watched a twenty minute POV feed of Master Sgt Grijjeki and his team tore through those insects like a tornado through a tissue paper house. Only two had received wounds in the altercation...out of 479 Broodlings, 12 Broodling Queens bloated with thousands of eggs, and 104 pregnant Varille, only one 21 Broodlings, 1 Queen, and 78 Varille had surrendered. And two Terran Marines lay in the ICU unit on Titan 7 as Navy Dr.'s worked to figure out what they had been injected with. Both were still in critical condition last he had been briefed.
The Admiral could have made it easier on them, he'd tried to convince him. But the Admiral had adamantly refused, saying, " I am a warrior, a soldier, and a grandsire. I can speak about honor, tactics, and the joys of siring a large family. I am not qualified for such a role unless none of the Regents bloodline remains. I can not, and will not represent the whole of my people in anything else at this time." He had then looked directly at him through the video call link, the Admiral's golden cat like eyes narrowed to slits. "I would rather 'suck space' as one of your lieutenants so elegantly put it, as to willingly enter that room with all those 'gratts'." (Snakes, his nanites had taken a second to catch the slang word and translate it.) He chuckled at the memory. He couldn't blame the man, most of the time he felt the same way. "And Ms. Thornton?"
"Well, I may have a workaround. Six cycles ago the Senate pushed through a Salvage law, ostensibly for one of the Senators son's to rake in revenue by....."
He listened to his aid, a smile spreading across his face. Ms. Thornton wouldn't be able to get out of her much deserved reward and promotion. Not this time.
Thanks for the interest folks :) I am not a writer and I can assure you my grammar is horrible on my best days. I will take some time later on and edit what has been pointed out and any minor tweaks needed.

2024.06.02 08:07 HelpingaFriend3000 25 M from Kansas

Hey there everyone! I’m a nondenominational Christian (though some of my best friends are baptist while I have a Presbyterian background) who is looking to possibly meet someone local to the Kansas City area. I’ve been on and off dating apps, but I realize that I strongly desire a different kind of connection than what some of the apps try to push. I really want to connect with someone on a spiritual level and push each other to be better Christians day to day.
A little about me - I am in the STEM field after getting through college, and I’m really wanting to settle down and start a family within the next few years. I value connections and keeping life interesting, as well as being around other believers who encourage each other to grow. Appearance wise I have brown hair, blue eyes, and facial hair, and I am a bigger guy build wise. I do want to improve my health, so I’m trying to increase my steps and get healthier as working a desk job is not helping my health. I also value always keeping the mind sharp and trying to always learn something new if possible. I like pets, and my parents have a cat and a dog that I spend time with often. More of a dog person if anything. I love being creative and exploring, among other things, and I really hope to find someone who loves to travel.
What I look for in a partner is someone fairly local or has the ability to relocate/visit often. I have been mulling over moving towards the Chicago area, so it’s a possibility as well. Age range, I’d say 21-30 is where I prefer. I do drink sometimes, but not more than one or two drinks typically. I don’t smoke or use tobacco, and I would prefer the same from a partner.
I hope my post gives a good start to start a conversation! I prefer to send pictures via chat and not be public with them. I wanted to give this a shot, but I am very much a go with the flow guy. I have been through some rough patches over the past few years and I won’t try to hide them, so mental health is a very strong passion of mine. I hope I can find someone who respects and encourages health in all aspects of life as we work on our Christian journey together. Hope you all have a great weekend!

First
"Sargent Barbara Thornton, 36, born in Olympus Habitable Dome 71D, Mars. Completed Sol Military Academy with top marks, and with distinguished merits in leadership, tactical acumen, and astro physics. For some reason not noted anywhere in her file, was never promoted further, though there is a LOT that has been redacted." His aid paused for a moment. He knew it was only him scanning ahead in Ms. Thornton's file so he casually took another piece of bacon and nibbled on it." She served five cycles admirably on three different ships before finding herself on the Hudson during the Omega Crisis on Proxima Centauri B's habitat rings. She was in charge of a team of specialists that managed against all odds to break through the Elladrin shield wall at Naball Power Core on the second habitat ring." Another pause, before the man across from him cleared his throat, licked his thumb and turned the page.
"While her team was successful, only three of them survived. Barbara was 'legally' dead, however, it's noted here that she still had rather strong brain waves in the initial medical scan and the acting physician had immediately placed her in an available Medical Regeneration Tube. While very expensive and wholly not normal procedure at the time, the Senate ordered whatever could be done for her, and the other two soldiers that they managed to pull out. The Senate wanted to use them as propaganda against the evolving A.I. threat. However, Sgt Thornton, upon fully healing had completed her sixth cycle while in the hospital, and coming up on the end of her physical therapy was ambushed by some overly eager politicians trying to force a photo opportunity. 2024.06.02 08:04 Odd-Cryptographer5 Credit Card recommendations for Mac purchase

Hello, So I need to buy a MacBook and have the means to pay it in full, but I thought this could be a good opportunity to build up some credit since I only have one credit card and my student loans.
My first option was to get the Best Buy credit card since they offer 0% interest for 12 months (would likely pay it off in 6mo). I could also put it on my credit card but since my limit is 2k I would be using over 30%. After reading some other posts some suggested to just open a credit card and this would make sense since I’m not planning on really purchasing much else at Best Buy. I have a credit score of 787, oldest account being 5yrs n 9mo, and I’ve never had a late payment.
I’m wondering if there is a credit card that will offer 0% apr for at least 6 months, will do some sort of earn back offer (I’m not sure if that’s what it’s called, but when you spend a certain amount within a certain amount of time of opening it and they give you back like $100-300), and would also like to find something that has better cash back rewards. I currently have the Wells Fargo Active Cash that offers 2% cash back. I would likely use the credit card for dining and outings since I have all my subscriptions on the WF card, but am open to hearing any other suggestions, I’ve just heard that some cards give higher cash back on certain purchases. I have been thinking of getting a travel credit card to start earning points bc I want to start making travel more of a priority (in a smarter way), but I’m really not sure what the best option would be.
I believe the offer on the laptop ends 6/2 so is this even possible to do within a day? Also will it be fine if I just spend that initial amount that is needed for the earn back reward and don’t make any other purchases until that is paid off? (Within the 0% period ofc) Will I need to open a bank account in order to apply for the credit card?
I’m obviously not very knowledgeable so please excuse anything that doesn’t make sense/ wouldn’t be possible.
I think that’s all I can think of.. greatly appreciate any input!!!

2024.06.02 08:04 thr0wdowned My (31F) partner (29F) always complains about her life. Is there some other way to approach this?

My girlfriend and I have been together for a little over a year. Due to some problems (pandemic, financial, depression), she's still in uni, barely halfway through. Her parents are still working their asses off to help her finish her studies and still lives with them (is the only one of her siblings still in their house). Though she's dropped hints and we have discussed it, I've been holding off asking her to move in until she's done with school because I know we're financially not ready to live together.
Now, considering that she still lives with her parents and is being set to uni by them, I've been telling her that she should be more understanding of them when they and her siblings make jokes like "So when are you going to graduate so we can retire?" I know that can be painful and frustrating to hear, and possibly could make her depression worse, but I just somehow can't muster up any frustration at her parents as well (I do feel bad when her siblings make the joke, I don't think it's their place to do so). They're old, they're tired, I kind of get it. She gets pissed and feels sorry for herself every time a topic like that comes up, and when she's not responsive to my input on it, I just try to comfort her (she often wants me to ask the "Are you just ranting or do you actually want my take on this?" otherwise it could lead to an argument -- it's almost always that she just wants to rant though).
But the longer we've been dating, the less understanding I become of her plight, I think. She lives mostly alone because her parents travel for work but they try to be home like 3x a week, and when they are and want to rest and ask her to clean up or whatnot, she complains (it's not like she's asked to do everything, her mom still does her fair share). She complains that her siblings (all of whom are already working or have their own families and live separately) do not get the same kind of treatment.
I don't think she's lazy because she takes care of the house most of the time and cleans up after their family cats, but she feels burdened by these tasks and other errands they might occasionally send her on. Though I feel for her sometimes especially on the days when I know she's already busy with uni and the occasional gig, in my head I sometimes can't help but think that it's the least she could do since she's still living with them rent-free; I know I did when I lived with my parents after graduating. I can't bring myself to tell this to her directly though because I know she'll just get mad or pity herself again.
Am I just being insensitive and do I need to adjust how I see her situation? It's just that every time she has these crises, I start having doubts about being with her because of how different out mindsets about this seem to be. Is that a shallow reason to end a relationship over? Please feel free to give me some harsh truths that I may need to hear. I can provide further context if anyone feels I'm giving just one side of the story, but I'm for now reluctant to give away too much info in case she stumbles upon this post.

2024.06.02 08:03 novenawildfell Any professional musicians pursuing sales? Do you feel like you have the flexibility to achieve what you want on your instrument?

I am learning to play the drums and it’s become integral to my life. Prioritizing mental health and well being for me = practice the drums 2+ hours a day (hopefully more). I know myself, the drums are the only thing that give me true LASTING happiness. Nothing else does.
I enjoy sales and “winning” but drums are the calling I can’t afford to pursue financially which breaks my heart.
Musicians who work in sales, has sales given you the flexibility to prioritize music? To a degree that actually satisfies you?
A few weeks ago a grad talked to our class. He said he had more time to practice music when he was a full time student w a full time job than he does now as a non student who works a full time job. He also said he has to take antidepressants to get up in the morning even though he “loves his job.”
I had a nervous breakdown when I went home and was uncontrollably sobbing because I don’t want a 9-5 to suck away the already limited time I have for music, as somebody with major, persistent depression.
I am a full time student but work more like 25-30h a week. Once I get out of school, I want to switch to something that’s either in an office or from home.
I plan on switching the sales I work in to in an office or from home once I get out of school. I like sales enough to pursue it even tho it can be taxing. I’m #1 on my small team of 5.
However, I only want to continue down this road if I can also prioritize the drums, AKA my mental health.
Not sure what to do career wise without sacrificing my mental health and safety.

2024.06.02 08:01 Fit-Chair2792 Information on the dolls used to symbolize the participants in the Decision game!

Copy and pasted from what I sent in a discord server on the topic.
ZTD and possibly 999 Spoilers ahead
Carlos (Action Figure)- a type of doll that is meant to be posed at all main joints (head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles, sometimes the waist) and be able to hold the pose, doesn't have any interchangeable parts and typically depicts more masculine figures (commonly superheros and other rigid designs such as mech suits are used as a basis as skin tight suits and armor are easier to model around posable joints than loose clothing)
Akane (Nendoroid)- Nendoroids are a type of collectable figure produced by Good Smile that are smaller than a standard figure often depicting characters in a "chibi" style. Most models also come with multiple replaceable parts including face plates for different poses and expressions. Good Smile did also release a general accessories pack to add extra little pieces to put on the Nendoroids which does include different color cat ears
Junpei (Voodoo Doll) - I'm sure most people already know what this is, I haven't done a lot of research on voodoo dolls or the cultures that may have used them so I don't want to say anything incorrect so imma say Google it in your own time if you wanna go in depth. This being used for Junpei is more than definitely a reference to the "For you" June doll in 999
Sean (Matryoshka)- also called a variety of names including Russian Nesting dolls, stacking dolls, and tea dolls. They were created with the intention of helping kids learn to count. Symbolically is used to represent a number of things including fertility, continuation of life, and less often; someone who is "two-faced" or has secrets.
Mira (dress up doll)- the image used in game most closely resembles a Bratz doll. Dress up dolls usually also have posable joints but the range of points of articulation varies greatly between specific models. The different outfits you can buy with them can be made from cloth and closed with velcro or be made from rubber with an open seam to slip on and off. Definitely made to be played with in a ton of scenarios that kids may come up with
Eric (baby doll)- this one doesn't require much explanation. Baby dolls were initially designed in the 1800s with ceramic heads and limbs attached to stuffed cloth torsos to be a part of "imaginative play" to give kids a more cuddly doll to use as a pretend baby instead of other common dolls that were completely made from hard material with no articulation. Modern baby dolls use soft plastic or rubber as an alternative to ceramic but still represents a baby to be taken care of. Not to be confused with "Reborn dolls" that are highly intricate pieces of art designed to look exactly like newborn babies.
Diana (Porcelain Doll)- Porcelain, while being a type of ceramic, is made from higher grade clays and fired at much hotter temperatures than normal ceramics. Dolls made from porcelain are made to be display pieces and not played with in the way a dress up doll or a baby doll would be. Antique porcelain dolls can sell for upwards of thousands of dollars (Diana's doll in mentioned to be made of bisque porcelain, which is what the most expensive porcelain doll, made in 1916 and sold for $300,000, was made of) and are rare due to porcelain being extremely susceptible to significant damage from minor trauma. They are the most used example of "Creepy dolls" used in media due to their glass eyes and typically blank expression.
Phi (Posable Paper doll)- most popular from the 1930s-1950s due to paper being a cheap and accessible resource during the depression era and world war 2. They were easy to mass produce using a printing press and were often found in old newspapers. Theyre used mostly nowadays as the easiest diy dress up doll as all you need is to just draw and cut out the clothes on another piece of paper and place it on top. For this reason they are also popular for fashion designers to work out how they want something to look like on a person (example: how long a skirt on a dress should be). Also used as puppets occasionally for indie animation due to their ease of use, small storage space required, and again, price. As mentioned by someone else, very very flammable.
Sigma (Nutcracker)- a number of jokes could be made here but I will refrain. Typically associated with the Christmas season and can be used to open nuts with harder shells but using their jaws. Original german Nutcrackers were designed off of people of power to give the common folk enjoyment of the idea of making the powerful work for them by "making them crack their 'hard nuts of life.'" Nutcrackers did not become associated with the Christmas season until they were used in the ballet "The Nutcracker" that opened the week before Christmas in 1892 and became massively popular in the 1940s when it started to be performed outside Russia. Nutcrackers are also used to represent good luck and frightening away evil spirits.
Zero II's doll found on a piece of paper in the Pod room looks to basically be a cloth or rag doll which can be used to symbolize a limp person who is unable to do anything (example: being paralyzed or in a vegetative state) which could be a little itty bitty hind sight nod to Delta spending all of Dcom and the decision game in the wheelchair believed to be incommunicable with before being outed as Zero II.

2024.06.02 08:00 Black_Sky_3008 8 more days left in the classroom before I am finished teaching and it's bittersweet 🥹

I started teaching in 2008. I've primarily taught in title I schools. 3 states, urban and rural. I hit a wall and had enough this year.
I'm expecting my 4th child in August. My oldest will also be a senior. My kids told me this year, their entire school career revolved around my students. We often stayed late (I did cut back this past school year) and they had to play on the playground or hang out in my classroom until I finished lesson planning or grading. I often volunteered for sports, clubs, PTO and other weekly commitments that required all of us to stay until 6/7 PM.
On top of that, some parents have (in the past 5 years) become insufferable. I'm tired of getting yelled at and accused of things by parents who are regularly tardy, irresponsible, in trouble in the community ( i.e. arrested/court) and don't even bother to call their students absences in (30-80 unexcused absences). It's some how my fault their kid is behind, despite not attending school regularly, not turning in homework, not completing their classwork or attending required/encouraged school events (like free tutoring, literacy night or after school programs) that would support them. I also had enough of getting cussed out and hit by students without consequence (I teach elementary) because it's more important for them to be in class (disrupting everyone and displaying agression) than it is for them to be at home.
I've had some great parents over the years. I've even had old students come to me and tell me what a great teacher I was. I still have students I run into that are older and give me hugs. This year I had several in my class and their parents love that I go the extra mile. I went to college for this and wanted to "be the change." Last month at an event there were 2 past parents that told staff how amazing I was with their kids and they missed me working with their kids. But I think with everything else my heart is broken.
My family and I decided that I will be a SAHM (for the 1st time ever, I've worked since I was a teenager) and homeschool through kindergarten. We're also debating if I should homeschool my 3rd grader, since I'm licensed preschool to 3rd and have an MA. We're leaving the older 2 in school so they can do sports and get the full experience. I'll also finally be able to make their school events, PTC (because El, Mid & HS do theirs all the same day in my district and I worked before), class parties and awards.
My kids are happy. I'm a little sad. It's bittersweet. I used to love my job. I liked dressing up, decorating and doing themes- I was that elementary teacher. But my own children need me and I'm not subject to verbal or physical attacks at home.
One mom this year told me she didn't care I was pregnant (because I had OB appointments and had subs) and accused me of not doing enough for her child, then reported me to admin (they did back me up and found out she was lying via conflicting messages and information on her part) but she didn't have to insult and yell at me in front of students. I'm always open to talking with parents after school and am super nice. Admin told me not to take it personal, because she's had issues with other staff but it was so crushing to hear what she was saying, I'd never talk to anyone like that. The last 3 years, I've come home crying several times.
Is this anyone else's last year? How do you feel? It's so hard to walk away, on one hand, but such a relief, on the other. How did you cope with leaving?
