2024.06.02 06:36 Own_Ladder9066 Looking for others like me. In search of "My people"

I'm not really sure how to do this without some kind of background sob story, so bare with me. I a 30m am having a pre midlife crisis or something. I generally know I want to start multiple businesses, I do some coding and have built a full project. Besides that I am developing a game for kids/ families, I have ideas all the time. I'm also an artist and love woodworking.
But unfortunately I have little to no execution on my ambition. I get stuck in my head, or discouraged and I am so indecisive. I can't decide if I should go back to school or if I just need some additional skill building. If I should get a new job to free up some time. I have a family I need to support and that I want to give everything I didn't have. I grew up poor af, went into foster care, emancipated out and have been grinding since. But I want to make a logical, sound decision. I want to grow as an individual and as an entrepreneur.
I'm looking for friends, associates, colleagues etc. Like minded individuals or lost minded as well.
Let's build a guide to the galaxy.

Made vs. Created and the Nature of Orcs

J.R.R. Tolkien's stories are deeply rooted in Thomistic metaphysics and Christian theology, where the distinction between "made" and "created" is pivotal. This distinction underscores the nature of goodness, creation, corruption, and the intrinsic limitations of evil. The dichotomy between making and creating is most vividly illustrated through the origins and nature of orcs, the monstrous foot soldiers of Middle-earth's dark lords.

Creation: The Divine Act

In Tolkien's world, true creation, or creatio ex nihilo (creation from nothing), is the exclusive province of Eru Ilúvatar, the supreme deity. This act of creation involves bringing something into existence that possesses the Flame Imperishable (or the Secret Fire), which grants true life, free will, and inherent goodness. Beings created by Eru Ilúvatar, such as the Ainur (angelic beings), elves, and men, are imbued with this divine spark, making them fundamentally good and capable of independent existence and moral choice.
From The Silmarillion:
"Therefore Ilúvatar may not only send forth the Flame Imperishable into the Void, but he may also bestow it to others, who may then sub-create, though only as permitted by Ilúvatar".

Making: The Act of Sub-creation

In contrast, the Valar and other beings can engage in making or sub-creation, which involves shaping or manipulating pre-existing matter. They cannot infuse these creations with the Flame Imperishable. A notable example is Aulë, one of the Valar, who crafted the Dwarves. Initially, these beings were mere automatons, moving only according to Aulë's thoughts. It was only when Eru Ilúvatar chose to bestow them with the Flame Imperishable that the Dwarves gained true life and independence. This story illustrates the fundamental difference between divine creation and sub-creation: the former grants true life and free will, while the latter lacks these essential qualities until blessed by Eru. Tolkien clarifies this distinction in his letters:
"They [the Valar] shared in [the World’s] 'making'—but only on the same terms as we 'make' a work of art or story. The realization of it, the gift to it of a created reality of the same grade as their own, was the act of the One God".

Orcs: The Corruption of Creation

The origin of orcs in Tolkien’s mythos serves as a poignant example of the difference between making and creating. According to various writings, orcs were not created by Morgoth or Sauron but were made by corrupting pre-existing beings. In "The Silmarillion," it is suggested that orcs were originally elves who were captured, tortured, and perverted by Morgoth's malevolent influence. This corruption transformed them into beings of evil, stripped of their original grace and beauty. In Morgoth's Ring we find:
"It became clear in time that undoubted Men could under the domination of Morgoth or his agents in a few generations be reduced almost to the Orc-level of mind and habits; and then they would or could be made to mate with Orcs, producing new breeds, often larger and more cunning. There is no doubt that long afterwards, in the Third Age, Saruman rediscovered this, or learned of it in lore, and in his lust for mastery committed this, his wickedest deed: the interbreeding of Orcs and Men, producing both Men-orcs large and cunning, and Orc-men treacherous and vile.".
Tolkien emphasizes that orcs, though rational and capable of independent thought, lack the divine spark of the Flame Imperishable. This absence signifies that while Morgoth could mar and twist the creations of Eru, he could not create life himself. In Flame Imperishable, Tolkien is quoted as saying:
"Treebeard does not say that the Dark Lord 'created' Trolls and Orcs. He says he 'made' them in counterfeit of certain creatures pre-existing. There is, to me, a wide gulf between the two statements".

Their existence is real but heavily dependent and perverted, lacking true autonomy and the Flame Imperishable.

Philosophical and Theological Implications

The distinction between made and created has profound implications in Tolkien’s universe. It aligns with Christian theology, reflecting the belief in a singular, omnipotent Creator who alone can grant true life. This distinction underscores the inherent limitations of evil: it is parasitic, relying on the corruption of what is good rather than generating new existence.
Orcs epitomize this concept. They are beings made through corruption, reflecting the perversion of creation. Their existence as fundamentally corrupted creatures illustrates the limits of Morgoth’s and Sauron’s power. They can induce suffering and manipulate life, but they cannot originate a true life that burns with the Flame Imperishable. This underscores a central theme in Tolkien’s works: the resilience of good and the ultimate impotence of evil to truly create.

On Artificial Intelligence

This leads us to Artificial Intelligence. Modern large language models (LLMs) and artificial intelligence systems, despite their sophisticated capabilities, are constructs without true volition or understanding. Basically, an LLM is an advanced version of autocomplete. These systems operate on vast datasets and algorithms designed to predict and generate human-like text (or audio or images), but they lack genuine consciousness, intent, and moral agency. Unlike beings created with the divine spark in Tolkien's world, LLMs do not possess free will or intrinsic purpose; they are tools made by humans to process and mimic patterns. Some commentators have even referred to AI as an alien intelligence, a ~shoggoth with a human face~, meaning that while the text may look humanlike, in reality, it originated not from a human but from an unknowable, formless alien process, which is the LLM.
"Well, we're fooled by their fluency, right? We just assume that if a system is fluent in manipulating language, then it has all the characteristics of human intelligence. But that impression is false." --Yann Lecun on the Lex Fridman podcast #416
The outputs of an LLM are determined not by experience, education, and emotion but by the data and programming they receive, reflecting the biases and limitations inherent in their design. This underscores the crucial distinction between artificial constructs and beings endowed with the Flame Imperishable, with true life and volition. Parents, for instance, should think carefully about giving a child unbridled access to an LLM which has no discernible ethics. The AI is a soulless, thoughtless machine built by human researchers, much like an orc is designed by Sauron simply to act as an instrument of his evil desires. The ethical and philosophical results of deploying such constructs into our society is staggering indeed.

The AI is only the Tool of the Maker

Of course, while the analogy between LLMs and Orcs highlights the artificial nature and purpose-driven creation of both, there are clear and fundamental differences in moral intent and potential for ethical use. LLMs are not (as far as we know) inherently evil constructs. They seem to be neutral tools that reflect the intentions of their creators and users. As such, the focus should be on ensuring that AI development and deployment are guided by ethical principles to maximize their benefits and minimize potential harm. That said, as with social media, we may come to regret the technology and wish to fling it back into Mordor's fire.

Conclusion

Tolkien's distinction between made and created is a metaphysical aspect of Middle Earth. It emphasizes the unique power of Eru Ilúvatar's true creation and the corruptive nature of evil. The orcs symbolize this dichotomy, illustrating how evil can distort but not create. This concept resonates in modern large language models and AI systems, which lack genuine consciousness and moral agency despite their advanced capabilities. Orcs and contemporary LLMs demonstrate the ethical implications of using such technologies and serve to enrich the philosophical depth of Tolkien's work.

2024.06.02 06:35 Strawbz18 Do you try to make a personality with your Tav?

Do you try to make a personality with your Tav?
I usually create characters with a personality made before I start making how they look.
This is Io Cassini
She has led a fairly normal life in Baldurs Gate before joining the clergy of Selûne. She is outgoing and is unembarassed in how much she loves the world around her. She spent time learning how to master her healing abilities. Her medical knowledge isn't limited to spells, she spends a lot of her days making potions to give to those in need. She is a "Has no enemies" type of person.
My point is she is out of her depth when she is scooped up by a nautiloid and sent to hell. Despite being dropped in the middle of nowhere and having the worst day of her life, she tries to help the cleric she met on the nautiloid. She wrestles an Albino elf, saves a man from a rock and frees an angry frog lady. They meet a few more weirdos before beating up some goblins. They meet more frogs who are made very upset by our angry lady frog so they bravely ran away.
She goes on a date with The Sharran Cleric who she hates very deeply(is madly in love with) before the party goes into Act 2. In Act 2 Io starts to realize that her special little group of adventurers might have special needs. Gales grandpa showed up to give him a detonator for the nuke in his chest. Astarion is making her cast Lesser Restoration every morning and Karlachs engine needs to be cooled down because it's too cold outside(?) She starts off in Moonrise trying to save the commander of the Goblins who tried to kill her and succeeding.
She completes Shars Gauntlet and beats Ketheric in Moonrise. The party then heads down the road to Baldurs Gate. She is excited to return home despite the circumstances, she is excited to show her new friends the different places she likes to visit.
She visits a circus, meets a crazy person and gets beaten up Jaheiras "friends". She beats up a wizard, vampire and a hag before saving Boo and his loyal pet(Minsc). After beating up a greasy politician and taking his kidney stone, they visit a crazy murderer at her house before taking her Netherstone too. They can finally confront The Elderbrain and finish this. After a long fight(with almost no one dying because of how good of a healer she is) they can finally rest.
Epilogue: Io and Shadowheart stay in Baldurs Gate to help rebuild and help anyone who was injured. It takes time but Io's healing abilities are more than enough to help. Once that is done they purchase a cottage very far away from any city. Io is allowed to slip into her comfort zone again because she does not have to fight for her life every single day. She loves the life Shadowheart decided to share with her and she hopes that Shadowheart can grow to love the world like she does.
This is quite the read but BG3 gave me such a good outlet for stories like this. After years of playing games like Cyberpunk or Life Is Strange it feels really good to have an achievable good ending in this game. It made the journey feel worth it once I saw my Tav and their friends celebrating one last time.

2024.06.02 06:34 CorruptedGem Mystra prayed on my downfall and ended my first Honor run.

SPOILERS FROM START TO FINISH, DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVENT BEATEN THE GAME AT LEAST ONCE.
30 hours into my very first PERFECT Honor mode playthrough, decently into act 2 after completely clearing Act 1 with zero knowledge about "legendary resistance" (or whatever that mechanic is) i Died...
and i mean perfect, I Saved Minthara in act 2 without destroying grove, Saved Alfira from Dark Urge death, stole Raphaels OP armor in act 1, got the Zaithisk Buff, auntie ethel boon, Literally perfect Run, only to die to Netherese Orb in camp. 🙃
Excuse the future gramatical errors as my mind is so Shook right now (for lack of better word) as this JUST happened.
(Skip to the last run on sentence to skip the strategy/build setup)
the strat that was working for me was to ideally to solve 2 issues, 1. reduce the time i had to long rest to (2) reduce the need to eat, i solved both issues early on. (80 food count per long rest seemed insane until i got the strat down)
so i had myself set as a Dark Urge Githyanki Dex reverberation dual wielding Bard. (githyanki astral knowledge with bard persuasion easily hit every convo dice roll plus extra short rests)
I used Phalar Aluve dual wielded with blood of lathander with boots of stormy Clamour (amazing synergy i found by accident) as the boots apply reverberation whenever you applied a condition which lowered Strength, Dex, and constitution save throws by 1 per stack, Shriek from Phalar counted as a condition and so did the aoe light from lathander (2 free stacks) plus the added bonus of shriek making all attacks deal extra damage, i also had a circlet from the gith Creche final fight that gave Arcane Synergy everytime you applied reverberation (increased weapon damage) good synergy etc, etc.
I had Astarion as a ranger fighter archer fully stacked by act 2. (mostly ranger but with action surge) using Ritual Dagger (steal it in act 1 from Abdurak, absolutely amazing weapon) it gives a special ability called Blood Sacrifice where you can basically Bless yourself 1d-4 PER ROUND, no concentration, (No cooldown) for a bonus action, i would use the ability at the start of the round then go to town with archery, 4 hits at the start of the round with action surge, i also had gear that increased his range damage and used the Bow of the Banshee to pretty much fear every target.
(Absolutely recommend Ritual Dagger for spellcasters or archers, the 1d-4 really helps with everything including dice rolls)
My third companion was interchangable for quest purposes like Gith creche, temple of shar etc, but was mainly (fighter lae'zel) or Shadowheart (switched to light cleric with abilities that helped with saving throws for checks for Act 2)
The Problem was my Fourth companion Gale. I admittedly have an unhealthy obsession with Gale since he was the first romance of my very first run, going into the game with 0 knowledge he won me over everyone else. (Minthara would have won had i known she was a possible companion and not unknowingly killed her 😅) but i digress. So for my first Honor mode run ever i of course had to keep my favorite in the party at all time so i made him respec to my druid Healer.
Druid healer fit into my plans all because of Goodberry (this is where the issue comes in) i had never used Goodberry before this run but i found out that you could use the actual berries as camp supplies (goated level 1 spell fyi) so land Druid healer made sense, every long rest i used all my remaining spell slots and spell slot recoveries to spam goodberry to significantly reduce the amount of camp supplies i used per night (the night i died i had over 1k camp supplies) So with these 2 classes (bard and druid) i Solved my main issue, rest and food.
So how did i die? I was lowkey (highkey) leading Astarion and Lae'zel on but i didn't want to just end it with Astarion by getting with Gale cause the dialogue where he puts himself down as if him being left was inevitable is kinda heartbreaking; so immediately after entering act 2, knowing Gale would hit on me after the first battle, i killed (bombed🤡) the Drider, stole his moonlantern, and rushed to moonrise for the Blood trader dialogue which allows you the dialogue to become friends with Astarion instead of lovers which was all apart of ((My Design..)) become friends with Astarion and Shadowheart (maybe skip Raphael and let Orpheus die if i was chicken), Wyll and Karlach to avernus, Lae'zel the Githyanki egg ending, and i planned to Ascend Gale to Godhood (honor mode was hard work, i deserved that) So immediately after finishing the Blood vendors dialogue i went to camp to long rest, spamming goodberry on Gale but when i instinctually went to use natural recovery, the spot was replaced with a new Wheel with 1 single ability in the same location.
Trigger netherese Explosion 🙃🤡🙃🤡🙃
i went from Elminster straight to moonrise, then to camp in under 30 minutes, forgetting i was given that ability and it replaced the spot of my muscle memory, killing my entire party and ending the run (why isn't there a confirmation for that)
Anyone else got any good early game builds or strats to try? Im gonna try again eventually but i'm honestly drained after that heartbreaking experience now...

Just a heads up, this theory is posted at the time that only a few episodes of the anime have been released. Depending on how much the anime stays like the manga, details may end up changing. Therefore, the entire theory will be based solely on the manga. I will also leave snippets of the manga with the highlighted text to support my claim. Please be sure to read those as it will help this theory make sense. This theory is completely my own original thoughts. If anyone shares this, please be sure to credit me, Muphenz. Thanks!Hello, my fellow Platinum End fans! If you’re like me, the ending completely caught me off guard and left my head-scratching. Do not worry! I’ve overanalyzed everything and made a theory to possibly explain who god and those beings at the end of the story are, so you don’t have to. Those beings at the end of the manga, chapter 58, are drum roll…humans of the future who have achieved many scientific advancements who existed well before the story of Platinum End takes place and are simulating their own world with fake humans, fake angels, and a fake god. Why are the real humans running this simulation? Simply put, they’re suicidal and no amount of therapy is going to help with that. Why are they wanting to die? In the future, it is predicted by Gaku Yoneda that within 500 years, humans will achieve immortality. Once they achieve immortality, they will eventually master time and space and will be able to do things like teleport, time travel, see the future, etc. And once humans achieve immortality and are able to know all of the future, they will discover that the future cannot be changed according to Dr. Yoneda. Just like Dr. Yoneda’s prediction, the real humans are wanting to die which is why it’s stated by one of the real humans how annoying it is that there is no death. Whatever the process was that made the real humans immortal, it seems that it cannot be reversed to restore one’s mortality. Although it’s not stated how humans will achieve immortality and allow them to control time and space, this will somehow cause humanity’s apocalypse as well, destroying the original Earth. What makes these creatures more human-like than god-like is that they admit they were born on another planet, most likely the original Earth. They are also aware that they too were created by something that is above them. How do we know Dr. Yoneda’s predictions are right? It was stated by Shuji Nakaumi that his past predictions came true. One thing to understand about science is that it’s extremely good at accurately predicting things. Example 1: With Issac Newton’s law of motion, scientists can predict the position of an object at any specific time, past, present, or future. Example 2: In the 1840s, Fitzner astronomer Urbain Le Verrier was analyzing the orbit pathway of Mercury and found that it is changing very slowly over time. With technology limited at that time, it was hard to provide proof. In 1915, the famous German physicist, Albert Einstein was able to calculate the influence of the curved space in Mercury’s orbit. That is 75 years later that science proved its prediction was right. Although science cannot tell future events like a psychic will attempt to, I believe this is what the author was using to help advance the plot for the ending. The real humans already know the future and they’re aware that no matter what they try, death is not a part of that. If they cannot do it, someone else can. That is when these simulations come in. The real humans will create simulated humans. In one of the simulations, the story of Platinum End takes place. This would not be on a computer. This process would involve terraforming an entire planet to support carbon-based life. The planet that the simulated humans live on will be similar to the original Earth as well as the history and advancement of science will be similar to the real humans. As the simulated human’s society progresses, like in Platinum End, they would eventually learn how to become immortal and learn how to control space-time which would lead to them wanting to die just like the real humans. But unlike the real humans, the simulated ones may actually achieve a way to kill themselves once they obtain immortality that the real humans could use. But as we already know stated by the real humans, this specific simulation was a failure. Nothing was created that was capable of killing them. Thus, the real humans will move on to a new simulation. Pay very special attention to this picture. Notice right after all of the humans disappear when the fake god kills himself, the buildings are slowly crumbling away since no one is here to maintain them. According to World Building, it would take an average of 250 years for a building to start to break apart since materials like wood and plastic would be destroyed by the environment if not maintained. Metal would be expanding and no longer able to keep the building's structure in place. This would cause things like windows to fall off and shatter. So after a few hundred years, the real humans return to the planet after the simulated humans disappeared due to the fake god’s suicide. It’s possible that during this time they’re running other simulations on other planets and returned when this simulation was completed. Since the real humans have achieved master over space-time, teleporting to anywhere in the universe would not be out of the question. Since they cannot die, the amount of time it would take for the real humans to travel anywhere in the universe is irrelevant as well. Even though Gaku Yoneda’s predictions about the simulated humanity’s end were wrong, he was technically right. It did come true for the real humans. If Shuji Nakaumi, as the fake god, did not kill himself and wipe out all of the fake humans, they would of most likely learned how to cheat death and to control space-time in the future. Gaku was wrong about the fake god being a product of human belief in order to live. He even admits that the composition of the fake god was wrong. If the fake god required human belief to live, then Shuji would not have erased the memories of those who were not god candidates as it would have affected the fake god's existence if fewer people believed in him. There is one thing that begs the question. Why is a fake god needed to run these simulations? Why do the simulated humans have souls? Why not just create the simulated humans and leave them to figure out how to create an immortal killing machine without the process of a false god? This is because God and souls are actually real and are necessary for life to exist. To clarify, the “God” that Shuji Nakaumi was transmuted into is not the true God that I’m referring to. I’m referring to the first cause of everything, a self-aware creator, a deistic God who existed before time and space who created the universe and does not intervene in its creation. This means no miracles, prophecy, answering prayers, divine revelation, etc. Everything in the universe is governed by physics and these laws cannot be broken. The real humans who are running the simulations are aware that they are a creation made from a creator. However, since a deistic God does not interfere in the universe, the real humans cannot know of him, at least while they are still alive. Considering the real humans can control space-time, I can say for certain at one point, at least one person went to the very beginning of time and saw something that would be evidence of an intelligent designer creating the universe. When the real humans are conversing with each other at the finale, one human suggests identifying what created them and the second one replies that seeking their creator will be a waste of time. If a deistic God won’t intervene in its creation, the real humans would be wasting time by attempting to contact him. Even though they can control space-time, if the creator exists outside of reality, they would not be able to reach this entity. Focusing on figuring out who created them means that time is wasted if they're not figuring out how to die which is why it would take them further away from death. Just as the simulated humans have souls, the real humans also have souls. At some point, the real humans discovered the soul. They are aware that this is needed for life to be sentient. The discovery of the soul could have played a key part in the real humans achieving immortality. The fake god is engineered by the real humans to create souls so that life can be sentient, mimic the universe's deistic God by allowing the simulation to run with no interference, and act as a mod to keep an eye on life with the red and white arrows. The celestial realm was created so the fake god would not be a part of the simulated world. Even though time moves differently in the celestial realm, it is the closest thing that the real humans can engineer to simulate a deist God that is separated from its creation. This fake god does not have the powers of a supreme being. The fake god does not know everything, is not everywhere at once, and does not display any sort of omnipotent ability. There is a lot of things that the fake god admits to not knowing, such as who created him, why are souls preserved, and how long does the merging process take. Although we do see the fake god have the ability to observe humanity, I would say that this is the equivalent of having admin privileges to watch humanity live-streamed on YouTube. The fake god is aware that he is created by someone. The fake god noticed that there are things that had already been created that he was not a part of just by observing everything in the universe. Although he seems to not understand what created him. He even acknowledges the idea that humanity could have created him. All the simulated souls come from the fake god. This is done through a process of emanation, which means to flow from. In the Abrahamic religions, specifically Gnosticism, Jewish Mysticism, and certain sectors of Protestantism, instead of your typical creator being separate from its creation, everything is a spontaneous outflow from God. As pieces of God emanate from him, it becomes less divine, but these pieces will eventually become an individual soul that forms into human spirits, angels, demons, as well as other things that come into reality such as heaven, hell, and the world of the living. Eventually, everything that came from God, will return back to the creator. (If you’re still confused on what emanation is, I would do more research before continuing to read as this will play a key role in understanding who the fake god is.) Emanation is how the fake god created the simulated human and their soul, the fake angels, and the celestial realm. The fake god took a piece of himself and used it to create life. Since everything emanates from the fake god is connected to him, as he is dying, most of the angels are dying too. Due to this connection, when the fake god killed himself, everything that was tied to the fake god disappeared. But because the creation of the fake god is not connected to the physical world, the planet and everything that is not life remained on it. When the simulated human beings die, the soul goes to the celestial realm. This is the returning aspect of emanation. The souls that came from the fake god are returning back to him. You always see all angels, regardless of rank, having the task of carrying the souls to the celestial realm. It seems that the main purpose of the angels is to help with the return part of the emanation process. The more that the emanence is divided, the less divine it becomes. This is why the fake humans are considered sub-celestial in the hierarchy. It appears that there is a certain order to the flow of emanation. The newest creations emanate from the fake god. Kids will be the first in the line for the emanate process and their parents will be behind them. This is why when the fake god committed suicide, the kids were the first ones to disappear, then the adults. All things that emanate from the fake god are returning to the original source in reverse order when the fake god takes his own life. When the fake god merges with a human, this appears to go against the set pattern of the emanation process by breaking the order in which the emanence flows. This is why when Shuji merged with the fake god, it felt like there was something foreign in the fake god's body similar to how an infected person's body acts when the immune system detects foreign bacteria or a virus. The only way to get around it is by the fake god merging with a simulated human and having the fake god take over the new body when the fusion is completedIt is stated by the fake god that it is nothing more than humanity's assumption that God cannot die. This may be true for the deistic God, but not for a fake god. It is already known that the real humans achieved immortality. Although the fake god could have been engineered to be immortal, that would just create another being who would eventually want to die. The fake god was designed to live a long life, compared to humans, that could be extended through the process of merging with one of its emanated counterparts until the simulation was completed. This has been done throughout time in the form of the god choosing process. The fake god confirmed to Shuji that his purpose was to create life. Professor Yoneda confirmed that the fake god was created by human imagination and that its purpose was to end life.On the surface, this may seem like a contradiction. But both of them are right. The fake god’s purpose was to create the simulated humans. God is metaphorically a creation of human imagination. It was not by the simulated human’s imagination as stated by Yoneda, but it was designed and engineered by the minds of the real humans. Since the purpose of the simulation is for the fake humans to achieve immortality and figure out how to reverse it, you can say that the fake god is a part of that process of killing humanity. Right as all of the humans are disappearing, Dr. Yoneda realizes that the composition that makes up the creature is based on a science that the simulated humans have not discovered yet. The composition of the fake god is Aether. In medieval times, a common study among scholars is alchemy, which can be best described as the forerunner for modern-day chemistry mixed with the pseudoscience of metaphysics. According to Charles Gillispie, a historian at Princeton University, in his book, The Edge of Objectivity, An Essay in the History of Scientific Ideas, Aether is the fifth element, along with earth, wind, fire, and water, that are the basic building blocks of the universe. During medieval times, Aether is the substance that is believed to connect the physical world to the spiritual one. It was even a common belief that the Abrahamic God was surrounded by Aether and that all of the angels, demons, and souls that dwelled in the afterlife breathed it in as humans breathed in the air. According to Jakob Bernoulli, a mathematician from the 1600s, believed that Aether is what allowed souls to interact with their human bodies. All of these characteristics of Aether match the composition of the fake god. Aether is what allows life to become sentient, connecting all of the simulated humans back to the fake god from the physical world to the celestial realm. It seems at some point, the real humans discover this element. This discovery most likely led to the discovery of the soul. Using this element, the real humans used Aether to construct the fake god needed for the simulations. Everything that is a part of the simulation, the fake god, angels, the soul, the arrows, is made up of this element. The red arrow is what allows the god candidates to make other humans fall in love with them so much that the person who is under the influence of the arrow will do literally anything the person who is in control wants, even die for them. The white arrow has the ability to kill any life while all inanimate objects are unaffected. These were limits placed on the arrows by the fake god. According to Ogaro, the fake god can use the full power of the arrows at will. The red arrow is more than just making someone fall in love. The arrow does this by taking away their free will. The god candidates were limited to using the arrow on 14 people at once for a period of up to 33 days. With the fake god able to use the full power of the red arrow, he can enslave any or all simulated humans with a snap of his finger for as long as he desired. The red arrow also played a role in creating the first simulated life as well. The fake god stated that if life was left alone, it would multiply. The desire of falling in love and wanting to procreate was implanted by the red arrow when life was created. The white arrow is the opposite of the red arrow. This arrow can kill life instantly. The limit that was placed on this arrow is that only one white arrow can be shot at a time. Just like the red arrow, this arrow has a maximum range of 31.6 meters. When cycling the white arrow, there is a cool down period of 0.3 seconds. If these limiters are removed, the fake god can kill all humans with the white arrows with virtually no limit on distance, any number of arrows can be used simultaneously, and there would be no mandatory cool down period. The creation of the simulated humans involves two key ingredients. The first is the soul which comes from the fake god. The second is a physical body for the soul to be attached to. The real humans asked if it was worth planting another seed and another god as those are two separate things. The making of another god is obviously the fake god. But what is the seed? The seed is what makes the physical embodiment of all plants and animals that all emanence is attached to. I.E., souls attached to bodies. According to the fake god, before he created life on the fake Earth, there was some sort of micro-organism.This seed would be that micro-organism, specifically carbon-based bacteria that is capable of evolution. Around 3 billion years ago, the first life on Earth was bacteria. There are two types of bacteria, a classification of anaerobic bacteria that ate other organic compounds and simple sugars to survive. The other kind is autotrophs bacteria which is capable of self-feeding. Anaerobic bacteria would evolve into modern-day animals. Autotroph bacteria would evolve into modern-day plants that still have the ability to self-feed through a process of photosynthesis. It is possible to send bacteria through space. According to a 2020 study published in the Journal of Frontiers in Microbiology, bacteria were able to survive in space for three years. If the real humans were able to transport the seed through space in less than 3 years, it could easily survive. Considering they achieved immortality, it is within reason to think this would be a piece of cake for them. At some point, part of the anaerobic bacteria would come in contact with the fake god, who was on the fake Earth at that time to make life, recognized the fake god as food, and attempted to feed off of him to survive. The bacteria that fed off the fake god would eventually evolve into Nasse. The bacteria that did not feed off of the fake god would evolve into more complex forms of life on the fake Earth. Since Nasse was accidentally created from this event, it most likely means that she is the first angel that the fake god created. This means that she could serve as inspiration for the fake god to create angels for the celestial realm. The angels don't seem to share any ability to reproduce with each other. There is never any mention of any family heritage. It means that all of the angels were created around the same time. Since Nasse is the only angel that came from the seed/bacteria, her biological makeup differs from all the other angels. While the majority of her is angel, part of the genetic makeup is similar to carbon-based life. Although I would not say Nasse is an angel-human hybrid, she could be considered a type of Nephilim. Due to this biological difference, Nasse is the only angel that can interfere in both the physical world and the celestial realm. Much research has shown that facial expressions are innate among all animals, not just humans. The same animals that display facial expressions when expressing emotions, lying, determination, etc. use similar muscles in the face as humans do. For example, a Psychologist, Paul Ekman, studied facial expression from hours of film and ventured on to multiple isolated tribes who have very little contact with modern society. He showed them pictures of facial expressions and asked them to interpret them. These people were able to match facial expressions and their meaning with high accuracy. This is one of the many studies that show facial expressions are genetic. Even though Nasse is single-minded, she is able to understand facial expressions due to her biological relationship with the simulated life on the fake Earth. But hey, this is just a theory."

2024.06.02 06:27 Lefthandedcigar I Probably Shouldn't Think My Son's Pre-K Teacher Is Stupid ... But I Do!!!

I have been looking forward to my son’s Pre-K graduation for months. Although I am extremely proud of- and happy for him, a few things are weighing on my mind following the graduation. Maybe I’m overreacting – and I truly hope I am. If I am, please tell me.
The first thing that bothered me about my son’s Pre-K graduation is the total lack of security to enter. It’s a very small VPK, so I didn’t expect security guards, but there wasn’t so much as a sign in sheet for the parents / visitors. There were no ID checks; anyone could simply walk in. *
Second, when my son was called up to receive his diploma, the teacher called him by his first name only and followed up with, “I’m not even going to attempt to pronounce your last name”. We do have a longer Italian surname, but it’s not hard to learn, not hard to say, and the teachers has more letters in her last name than we do. In my 40 years, the only time people weren’t sure how to pronounce it was the first time I met them. Other than that, or simply not knowing me personally, you’re a telemarketer if you can’t pronounce it. You don’t need to know a different language ffs. We’re born and raised in the US for the last century. I expect the teacher who’s with my son 5 days a week or an entire school year to know how to say his last name. If my son’s peers can pronounce it, there’s no excuse. (And yes, this WAS his full-time teacher, not an assistant or different teacher, etc.) Here's the kicker. It's a class of like 16. It's not a school like Hogwarts full of kids with no vowels in their last names. *
Lastly, I was so happy when my son received two awards because only a couple kids received two. What could go wrong, right? His last name is spelled wrong on both of his laminated awards. Really? Come on, man! *
Oh, one more thing that I should have started with. Upon arriving at the scheduled time of the graduation, I found out that they were behind schedule by a full hour, and everyone had to wait outside. There was just a note on the door and the door was locked.
Really? We can do better than this. #DoBetter
I know these "problems" may seem miniscule compared to other "real" problems in the world. I know I have the choice to focus on the positive things that happened today and not let the "small" things live rent free in my mind. But should I turn the other cheek? Am I wrong to assume the brightest crayon in the box shouldn't be in my son's backpack - it should be teaching the class? Sorry, for the jokes. I'm trying to make light of the situation to cheer myself up. That was kind of funny, I guess. At the end of the day, all of this is just very discouraging when I think about who will be teaching my son.
Before I go, I want to give praise to ALL of the good teachers out there who care about the kids and their education and take the time to know their students, no matter if you're a Pre-K teacher or a Scholar, I commend you and appreciate you. I understand that it is not an easy job and I know you should be paid a hell of a lot more. I am in no way intending to bash all teachers or even most teachers. I TRULY hope this is an isolated issue in this smaller sized town in the SE.
I had many great, and memorable teachers in my life I will always remember, and I truly pray someone just like one of them finds their way into my son's classroom when he begins kindergarten this Fall.
ALL YOUNG CHILDREN DESERVE A TEACHER WHO AT LEAST CARES.
Thanks for listening.

2024.06.02 06:24 gooobegone A Few Eclectic Reviews

Hello all! I'm working my way through some samples and wanted to drop some reviews for you! I'm a bit verbose lmao and I don't want the post to be too long, so I will be making additional posts in the coming days. Hope these are helpful or interesting!
Evil Eye - Arcana Wildcraft
Protection against malevolent forces. An opening of bright Sicilian aniseed leads to a creamy, addictive, gourmand heart of Mexican vanilla, dark cocoa, sugar-encrusted blonde woods, warm amber, sandalwood milk, Cetalox, and soft golden tobacco. A woody gourmand with anise and chocolate.
Wet and in the bottle: Very strong, tangy wood, to me it reads like cedar. Reminds me of my parents cedar closet in the attic. I suspect it's the sandalwood. It's very very strong, you get a sense of a sweetness but it's very overpowering in this form.
Wet and just applied to skin: The intense woody tang remains, but a lactonic, no an oaty sweetness starts creeping up more and more the drier it gets. A noticable musk is peeking out here as well.
Dried down on skin: Now the frag has arrived where it should be, it's creamy and woody and sweet. The cedarey sensation remains but it's swirled into steamed, sweetened vanilla oatmilk. Like a wood latte. Feels like something they sell at dryad cafes. The musk grows with wear. I don't get a "cashmere" note that you usually find in scents that mention that. It feels more like a soft, plush musk, something there to keep it from being just gourmand, because strangely the cedar feels kind of herbal like those flower lattes. Comes a long way from the very non gourmand WOOD opening to where it reads like wood, but wood you can eat.
Final thoughts: I'm actually deeply obsessed with this fragrance. I really really love it, even the intense opening of it. This gave me a sort of paradigm shift, where I realized all my recent faves have been perfumey gourmands and not the realistic gourmands I once thought I preferred. Fantastically imaginitive frag, I certainly would've never thought of it. Does it Vampire Blood? (This is the part where I admit I layer everything with BBW's Vampire Blood bc I'm obsessed. This section of my reviews will denote if it can be layered with VB) I did layer it, and it was fine. They both kind of exist at the same time but don't really create something together. But they don't clash, which is great news because you know me and my VB.
Fleeced Skeleton Onesie - BPAL
freshly-washed fleece skeleton onesie and a little bit of smeared eyeliner
Wet and in the bottle: Sweet laundry smell. Reminds me of hugging a friend in high school and you can smell their "vanilla orchid" scented laundry soap their mom picked out. Idk why that specifically, but that's what it's giving.
Wet and just applied to skin: I saw someone say it smelled like banana to them and I get what they mean. There's a floral sweetness (like a banana) cut by something slightly vegetal, just the tiniest bit green. Finishes with a lipsticky quality, but creamy not powdery. From afar, it smells like it did in the bottle - sweet laundry, but with a proper sniff you get the separate elements making that up. The makeup sensation seems to get stronger as it warms.
Dried down on skin: Very much like Avon lipstick. My grandma was an Avon lady and had so much Avon cosmetics, and it really reminds me of her lipsticks. White floral with a creamy quality, but not lactonic. I've smelled this in other things, someone said it's giving crisco and that's almost exactly right. A smooth but sort of aggressively quality-less creaminess. There's something here that reads as very slightly lemon-ey to me, but it mostly just serves to keep it from being sugary sweet. The laundry smell is strong from afar, similar to bedsheet ghost but more floral and less "hot". This isn't just dried laundry it's a clean shirt you folded and put away the night before. But any closer inspection of the frag, a deep sniff, and it's a heady white floral with creamy elements.
Final thoughts: I usually don't like white florals, but I like this one! I wouldn't wear it all the time, it won't become a regular thing, but I do like it. It has a sense of nostalgia, and it really reminds me of scene kids for whatever reason, which I think is what she was going for. Does it Vampire Blood? (This is the part where I admit I layer everything with BBW's Vampire Blood bc I'm obsessed. This section of my reviews will denote if it can be layered with VB) Yes! I think the tangy fruity sweetness of VB calms some of the louder white florals, and it gives it maximum scene kid.
Asses Plus Long, Qu'un Siecle Platonique - BPAL
opal-gilded white rose petals, vanilla flower, and caramelized benzoin
Wet and in the bottle: Sharp, biting, headaching rose
Wet and just applied to skin: This is a true rose, leans more realistic than the kind of fantasy powder rose. It's a little peppery like fresh roses tend to be, a little astringent. Like floral in the most literal meaning of the word. Platonic ideal of a floral. Green, planty, smooth, peppery rose. Kind of arugula adjacent (this is how I feel about smelling most real roses).
Dried down on skin: I figured this would be pretty linear as a frag because of how almost solinote-ey it was for me for a good long while. It stays its perfect rose self, I can maybe get zome benzoin at the tail end, but it melds into the astringency of the rose to where it feels like it's mostly aiding in the solinote. But, after a good long while, like 3.5 hours, it becomes pure bitter zingy benzoin. Very very bitter. Like surprisingly bitter. I sniffed my wrist after a few hours to check on it and was like staggered a bit. Interesting touch, I feel like. Makes this kind of dark and spooky in a way.
Final thoughts: I like rose as an element often but I feel like this is too much rose. It's almost scary how much rose it is. I like it and I think it's well crafted and it's cool how realistic it is for me, but definitely not something I'll reach for often. I've been trying to give florals a fair shake recently, as for a long time I'd decided they were right out but for jasmine. And while this one didn't sell me on florals or rose as a whole, it made me think there's something more interesting there than I thought. Does it Vampire Blood? (This is the part where I admit I layer everything with BBW's Vampire Blood bc I'm obsessed. This section of my reviews will denote if it can be layered with VB) Yes! Makes it a bit more what I'm used to in terms of a rose. A kind of candied, fruity rose situation. More recognizable to me. I do think it gets weird with its endstage benzoin phase though.
We're Werewolves Not Swearwolves - S92
Ambroxan, trampled moss, soft tonka, boozy vanilla, smashed pumpkin, black coffee, acid-washed denim, wild grey musk
Wet and in the bottle: Dirty coffee, a bit of sweetness. Honestly not all that appealing in the bottle.
Wet and just applied to skin: Warm, delicious toasty coffee sweetened with damara sugar. Musk and something slightly salty make it read caramelled and also ground it. Amazing, almost smokey coffee gourmand here.
Dried down on skin: Becomes a spicy, salty coffee slush of sorts. So roasty toasty, but in a way that's super wearable. Doesn't smell like you just walked out of a coffee shop but rather than you ooze coffee, and it gets stuck in the threads of your lightly perfumed (choco musk perhaps) flannel. Smells like curling up to see the stars with a fancy starbucks coffee, the ones with the crunchy caramel bits on the top. So musky and addictive.
Final thoughts: Actually one of my new favorite frags, which is highly unfortunate because I have about half a slonk and don't feel comfortable ever ordering direct from S92. Will be looking for a fullsize in the swaps. I'm soso on coffee scents, I like them in theory but I think they're either very short lived or not gourmand enough for me, instead becoming a kind of interesting earthy note. But here it's all coffee ice cream type coffee but made round and full by some classical perfumey additions. Does it Vampire Blood? (This is the part where I admit I layer everything with BBW's Vampire Blood bc I'm obsessed. This section of my reviews will denote if it can be layered with VB) It's fine, not my favorite combination. They don't so much blend as sort of sit next to each other.
Boardwalk - S92
Coconut pulp, coconut milk, Coppertone, sand, sea breeze, driftwood, melted vanilla ice cream cone, sticky cotton candy
Wet and in the bottle: Very verbena-ey to me. That kind of smooth, almost creamy greenness. Touch of sunscreeney coconut, lots of sweetness. Reads like a fancy slushy summer drink.
Wet and just applied to skin: Much sweeter, coconut imparts a nice kind of nuttiness, very much like Coconut Lime Verbena from bath and body works, which I'm a fan of. Definitely has the sunscreen quality about it. I swear at the end of the sniff, it's exactly like fresh saltwater taffy. That kind of slight saltiness, nondairy creaminess. It reminds me of the blue ones in particular, which I think were blueberry but had a slight herbal quality about them. All of this comes together to really complete the "fancy, slurry summer drink" feeling.
Dried down on skin: This scent is pretty linear for its notes, it doesn't change much to me from the wet on skin phase. Maybe that taffy at the end becomes more the forefront. Not as coconuttey a drydown as I was hoping for.
Final thoughts: I like it, but I'm not a huge summer frag person these days. I think they tend to smell kind of samey to me unless they're doing something very specific. But it's very nice, very wearable, definitely sniffed myself a lot. I feel like it's missing something I'm wanting though, maybe just more coconut, or maybe it smelling like coconut lime verbena makes me want a limey note from it. Does it Vampire Blood? (This is the part where I admit I layer everything with BBW's Vampire Blood bc I'm obsessed. This section of my reviews will denote if it can be layered with VB) Yes! I love this combo bc VB reads very cotton candy to me, and I didn't really detect cotton candy in this frag, more just a general sweetness, and the VB helps to amp that.

As someone who's been using the Victagen Intelligent Charger in my daily life, I can confidently say that this compact charger has made my life a lot easier. The fact that it can charge 2 batteries simultaneously is a game-changer, especially when I need to power up multiple devices at once. On a side note, the charger itself is quite sturdy, built with scratch-resistant ABS. Not to mention, it comes with a user manual, a USB cable, and the charger itself. Given the reasonable price, it's definitely worth the investment for anyone who needs a reliable, versatile charger for their rechargeable devices.

In my experience, the PD2 2 in 1 Charger and Phone Power Bank by US Direct is a handy little gadget to have on hand. It's perfect for charging up your phone on-the-go or providing power to your flashlight when you're out and about.
The charger's versatility is its main selling point. It offers five different charging modes, making it compatible with a variety of devices. Plus, it's able to charge two batteries simultaneously, which can be convenient in situations where time is of the essence.
However, I did notice that the charger can sometimes get a bit hot during extended use, but that's a small price to pay for such a versatile product. Also, the indicator lights on the charger are quite bright, which can be a bit of an eyesore when charging at night.

What is a charger for an 18650 battery?

A charger for an 18650 battery is a device specifically designed to charge these batteries safely and efficiently. It is essential to use the correct charger to avoid overcharging, undercharging, or other damages to the battery, which can lead to decreased performance or even safety hazards.

Can I use any charger for an 18650 battery?

No, it is not recommended to use any charger for an 18650 battery without checking the compatibility. Chargers come in various types, like single-channel or multi-channel chargers, with different voltage and current ratings. Using the wrong charger can cause damage to the battery or safety issues, so it is crucial to choose the correct one based on your specific battery model and requirements.

What are the different types of 18650 batteries?

There are several types of 18650 batteries available on the market, including:
  • Protected (P) batteries: These have a built-in protection circuit, which safely prevents the battery from overcharging, overdischarging, or short-circuiting.
  • Non-protected (NP) batteries: These batteries do not have a built-in protection circuit and require external protection mechanisms.
  • Primary (P) batteries: These 18650 batteries are generally not rechargeable.
  • Secondary (S) batteries: These 18650 batteries can be recharged multiple times.

What is the difference between continuous discharge rate and peak discharge rate?

Continuous discharge rate refers to the maximum current a battery can provide continuously without overheating or causing damage. It is typically expressed in milliamperes (mA) and is a critical factor in determining the battery's suitability for specific applications, such as high-power flashlights or portable chargers.
Peak discharge rate, on the other hand, refers to the maximum current a battery can provide for a short period (usually a few seconds) before its voltage drops below a specific threshold. This rate is important when dealing with devices that require a high burst of power, such as high-performance handheld tools.
Both continuous and peak discharge rates should be considered when selecting an 18650 battery to ensure optimal performance and safety.

How should I store 18650 batteries?

Proper storage of 18650 batteries is essential to maintain their performance and lifetime. Storing them at room temperature (between 0°C and 40°C or 32°F and 104°F) in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or exposure to high humidity is recommended. Batteries should be stored separately from other electronics and metals to prevent short circuits.

2024.06.02 06:22 blurryturtle 2024 Roland Garros Men's & Women's 4th Round - Sunday Matches

Swiatek vs Potapova :

Swiatek had to have been happy with her third round matchup after waking up from the nightmare that Naomi Osaka presented. She made quick work of Bouzkova, who was outmatched in every department. Bouzkova did manage to battle back in the first and make the set close, and she served surprisingly well, but she just doesn’t hit hard enough to beat Swiatek. It was one of those matches where Swiatek looks a bit impatient because she’s supplying all the offense, and it seems like when it takes 3-4 shots to get an opportunity to hit a winner, she tries to just infuse extra pace or spin instead and unforced errors appear. Trying to make the ball explode doesn’t really work, and extra force applied tends to fall short when compared to smooth technique. I watched Rune and Zverev have similar trouble today against their opponents. Players wind up pushing because they hit bigger than their opponent, but don’t want to make errors. It’s accuracy that’s missing, and it’s something for Swiatek to work on in the off-season. I would say that accuracy is the main problem with her serve as well. It has plenty of pace and spin, but the ball lands towards the center of the box way too often. Less pace, and more location will go a long way.
If it feels like I’m levying criticism today, yes. Your turn, Potapova and Wang. Potapova was down 5-0 in the first set, and won 7 games in a row. Wang has a tendency to just go big on her forehand, and she doesn’t stop when she misses. Potapova was an uphill battle, but Wang doesn’t actually need to hit clean winners to score. Her forehand is one of the biggest in the game, and once she locks into a cross-court rally she usually can win provided the ball lands inside the court. Landing the ball inside the court proved difficult, and it felt a bit like watching Struff. All the ability in the world but a sense of urgency that doesn’t really match the moment. Yes you want to stay aggressive, but the weight of shot buys you time in the rally, you don’t need to escape a rally you’re in control of.
Potapova wound up losing the second, and down a break in the third. She dug in admirably, but there were some really poor decisions late in the match. After getting to triple break point by rallying with Wang and keeping the ball deep until Wang missed, she got a simple backhand return off a serve. She went for a clean winner down the line for some reason, and then suddenly the next point mattered. She lost it, and suddenly the “oh F I had it and now it’s gone” fears rose. The game ended up at duece, and she went to tactic B : screaming on every shot. You can’t scream your opponent off the court, so this didn’t really work. In the end, Wang coughed up errors and Potapova won, but it was a match that was managed poorly by both. Potapova was very reactive to misses and makes, which is fine but wastes a bunch of energy and tends to affect your decisionmaking in a readable way. You want to maintain some mystery, and at a minimum not give your opponent any inspiration or hope to work off of while you’re out there.
Swiatek Potapova should be another safe match for Swiatek, but Potapova has good power off both wings and she hits her backhand down the line decent. Swiatek will need more than she brought against Bouzkova, and chances are this won’t be a blowout. Potapova won their last meeting 6-0 in the third on clay, but it was in 2016 at the juniors. Swiatek in 2.

Danilovic vs Vondrousova :

Olga Danilovic has made the 4th round of a major. This changes her career in a major way. Tons of points, at least $250k, and a chance to win more. It’s even sweeter I would imagine because she probably shouldn’t be there. Her match against Donna Vekic was filled with many fumbles. Both players have enough power to hit past the other. Vekic was able to hit inside out forehands to great effect. Danilovic’s pendulum swing on her backhand was able to force errors from Vekic quite often. Her forehand down the line was almost a clean winner anytime she made it. In between all that though, they missed constantly.
The first set was a 6-0 beatdown from Vekic. She played excellent, and likely should have won the second. In the third, she went up a quick break. She gave that back, but broke to serve for the match. Immediately, she threw in a handful of forced dropshots and errors. Luckily, she broke again to serve for the match at 6-5. This gave her the opportunity to come up with a few more bailout dropshots and errors. If you watch highlights, this was an incredible match. If you watched the match, you saw two players whose games were affected by the situation. Vekic forced the issue and missed anytime she got control of the scoreboard, and Danilovic went through bouts of not missing at all followed by sending every ball wide. The tiebreaker was vaguely like watching a junior match. Every miss brought a huge reaction from the player. There were constant gestures and faces made to their boxes, and it was a little difficult to watch two great players struggle to focus and execute. Vekic managed to go up again 6-2 in the tiebreaker, but froze at that point and began hitting most of her shots long. She had trouble serving first serves in for the second half of the entire third set, but she really was unable to respond defensively once Danilovic got a full swing in.
After watching Danilovic down Collins and sort of defeat Vekic, it’s hard to count her out against Vondrousova. Marketa is a clear favorite against most players on clay, but the scorelines of her matches can be hard to predict. Against Paquet she was up a set and cruising up a double break in the second, and wound up back on serve. She closed out, but Vondrousova doesn’t hit that big and mostly thrives by defending and earning errors, so Danilovic will be able to compete. They played in the BJK cup and Vondrousova won in 3, and I’m guessing slower clay will give Vondrousova more of an edge. Vekic’s lack of speed really hurt her, and I think Vondrousova being able to put extra ball consistently in play will make Danilovic’s rough patches more of an issue. The emotional and physical output of Danilovic over the last few rounds has to take a toll, and I think she’ll fall a game or two short here. Vondrousova in 3.

Gauff vs Cocciaretto :

This is an excellent draw for Gauff so far. She’s playing great players, but stylistically they’re not a lot of trouble for her. This round is another good spot. Elisabetta Cocciaretto is a good server and has nice power, but she’s not the fastest around the court and she can make some unforced errors if she’s rushed. This means Gauff’s defense and power give her a great shot to win without trouble. Cocciaretto beating Samsonova was a surprise to me, but Samsonova doesn’t have the speed that Gauff does nor the consistency. This is a criminally short analysis but Gauff in 2.

Tauson vs Jabeur :

Great champions are able to elevate their games. This round, Ons will need to elevate hers. Clara Tauson is playing some great tennis, and coming into this match hers is the higher level. Jabeur was projected to have trouble against Fernandez and she did. It was another match where I felt like a good coach could have gotten their player across the finish line. Fernandez didn’t have a great chance in the first, but Jabeur was very willing to give the second away. Fernandez was able to dig in on defense and rally with Jabeur until she made errors or gave Leylah opportunities. Rather than keep rallying and really punish Jabeur, Fernandez went for winners … and missed them all. I’m not exaggerating here, in the second set she missed almost every offensive shot she went for, and it didn’t feel like she had to go for them. Jabeur hits bigger than Fernandez, so on the court it may have felt like she needed to do a lot, but most of her points come from consistency, so Leylah’s team will want to focus on having her focus on the mental battle going on in her opponent’s head rather than trying to be a big hitter. Physically, it’s just not in the cards for her to be slinging offense. Maybe she landed those same shots in an earlier round, so going for them was fine, but awareness on court is important, and Jabeur was trying to give the set away. After winning, Jabeur celebrated a bit which left me puzzled. It’s natural to be happy when you win, but I feel a little odd about these matches sometimes. Fernandez didn’t land a first serve for the last 20 minutes, threw in a ton of errors, and tried to hit an overhand winner for some reason off a return at 5-5 in the tiebreaker. It was a nice win, but Jabeur made this match hard on herself. I might be in hater mode today and I apologize, but it feels like sometimes players tap their head or pump their fist after overcoming challenges that they themselves created.
Positives for Jabeur were the times she put one extra ball back. She has had a middling season, and seeing her dig in is great. Her racquet skill is some of the best on tour as well, so the gets aren’t just a boost, they’re downright effective. She has the ability to stretch to her forehand and put squash gets back extremely low, and to flick cross-court forehands that seem impossible from how extended her arm is. Jabeur’s depth of talent is why she is still slightly favored in this match, because again, Clara Tauson is coming in at a high level. Tauson beat Ostapenko, and followed it up by putting Kenin through the ringer. Kenin had no chance in the first, but in the second she was able to reel back a break of serve and apply some decent pressure. Frustratingly, she just wasn’t able to execute in the big moments. At 15-30 5-5, Tauson hit a lob that was going a few feet out (to the side). While running backwards, Kenin seemed unaware of where she was in the court. She tried to play it overhead and missed. It was a momentum killer, and she ended up missing the remainder of her offensive opportunities.
Throughout the match, the big difference in the two was Tauson’s ability to score quickly. When she lands first serves, or if you give her a moment to get a full swing anywhere inside the baseline, you are toast. She has the type of power that Anisimova/Collins generate on their backhand, and she has a heavy forehand. That is why I suspect Jabeur will have a tough time winning this quickly. Jabeur has the endurance and variety to frustrate Tauson, but this feels like a battle of two big offenses, and Jabeur’s is a bit less consistent at this point. I want to believe Jabeur wins in 3, but she will need to step up her game and avoid the type of letdown she had in the second against Fernandez. Tauson is several tiers above Leylah and Osorio in terms of offensive opportunities, and both those players were able to get in winning position in at least one set. I’m still going to go with Jabeur in 3. Tauson has beaten some offenses, and some defenses, but Ons is the most complete player she’s faced so it feels very much like “prove it” territory for me.

Arnaldi vs Tsitsipas :

The story in Arnaldi’s match seems to be Rublev’s temper, but don’t let that overshadow Arnaldi’s performance. For me, Rublev’s temper is partially his fault, and partially his team’s. I’m especially sensitive to this after watching the last round, but being reactive to the outcome of points is a bit of a leak. If you are easily moved by events, then you are always able to be moved. It compounds, because if you are really good at something, there is no reason to believe that minor failures will continue, or even matter. It gives your opponent motivation, it wastes your valuable reserves of adrenaline and dopamine (depending on good/bad outcomes), and it’s honestly fairly distracting for an opponent. Just generally speaking, if my opponent is smashing his head with a racquet, I don’t really want to beat him. I’m still going to, but I want to compete and win, I don’t really want to add suffering to someone else. It’s unprofessional, it’s a detriment to his game, and it puts his opponents and umpires in an uncomfortable spot. Of course, he knows this, but it should hit home in this moment that he lost this match because of his lack of composure, and lost it to a player who thrives because of his composure.
Matteo Arnaldi plays steady consistent tennis. He works hard, he constantly works on his game, and he isn’t reactive out there aside from hyping himself up. He beat Fils because of deviations in his level of play and because he made it clear he wouldn’t miss. Fils forced shots and missed because he was unwilling to do the work. He beat Rublev because despite Rublev opening the match hitting clean and crushing winners, he just stayed the course and kept competing. When Christmas disappeared, Rublev noticed, and he did not like it. The crux of the issue is, he did not accept it. If I am upset about the way things are, that is natural. If I grit against the way they are, I suffer. If I accept the way things are, I am (counterintuitively) instantly free to begin working on changing them. It doesn’t mean we celebrate errors or loss, but resetting to the present moment is a major key to winning in professional sports and tennis players in particular have a difficulty with this.
I’m not trying to dump on all these players or attack them here either. All of them are tremendous athletes and are mostly excellent ambassadors and competitors. All of these struggles are natural and we all experiences the highs and lows of competition, but Rublev wants to win and this is something he needs to work on to do that consistently. If his coaches aren’t working on this with him, they’re doing him a disservice. If they are and he isn’t buying into it, he’s doing them a disservice. Everything is fine with Rublev’s game but the holes are clear. He needs more reps at net, he needs to develop dropshots, and he needs to not smash racquets.
For now, it’s Arnaldi vs Tsitsipas. Stefanos has been excellent this event, and he opens as the favorite for a reason. Zhang played solid in round 3, but he was helpless against Tsitsipas. Stef is holding serving quickly, and the speed with which he’s finding a forehand to the open court off of players’ returns is the catalyst of this. His stamina is a major weapon in these conditions and in this format, and his serve/forehand is one of the best left in the event. If Arnaldi wants to win, the plot is simple. Isolate Tsitsipas’ backhand, and get deep in sets. In the late stages of a close set, Tsitsipas is still prone to some shanks. I really do think Arnaldi needs to win the first set to have a shot here, but had Rublev been playing Tsitsipas I think we’d be expecting a somewhat close match so there’s no real argument for Arnaldi to get blown out here. He has a complete game, and he has good discipline. He’s lanky so he might be able to return well, and he can send his backhand down the line so Tsitsipas can’t just camp in his backhand corner. Forehand to forehand though, I think Tsitsipas wins. Losses to Ruud, Jarry, Medvedev make me think that Arnaldi has a bit of a ceiling, but all those were close affairs so Tsitsipas should have his hands full here. Tsitsipas in 4-5.

Alcaraz vs Auger-Aliassume :

Shelton and FAA was fairly hyped, but only Felix delivered. Shelton wasn’t really that bad, but FAA just showed he’s more comfortable on the surface. He faced no break points, and won comfortably in straight sets. His next match will be a lot more difficult, as he plays a version of Carlos Alcaraz that is cruising through the draw without really playing his best tennis. Alcaraz vs Korda was a strange contest. It reminded me a bit of Zverev or Rune playing matches they know they’re going to win. They don’t want to play extra sets, so they play a bit more carefully and just make sure to outlast their opponent. What ends up happening is the score stays close, and the stronger players needs to win a tense tiebreaker or break late in the set. Sure, they still win, but I think that an all-out assault from an earlier moment would allow them to fatigue their opponent.
These guys are all in tremendous shape (even Kotov), but there are levels/paces that they can’t hang at for long. Someone like Alcaraz can push the pace and wear Korda down, and once he breaks from that level, the odds of him winning the next sets easily are more likely. We watched Nadal and Djokovic do this to opponents for a long time, and the late sets were almost always blowouts after frantic openers. We watched Federer do the same thing mentally to opponents with a constant onslaught of offensive shots and tricky slices. If you don’t push the pace to a level your lower-tier opponent can’t hang at, they end up playing at a pace they’re comfortable with and then you play the same level of Korda in set 1 as you do in set 3.
Hater mode continues, but in this case I think it’s all assuming that Alcaraz is totally healthy. If he’s saving his arm for later, he played Korda perfectly. Sebastian continues to battle even with the best players on tour, and in the big moments he doesn’t change his game. 4-4 in a tiebreaker isn’t the time to force anything, but if you’re the underdog and have nothing to lose, it might be a good choice to ratchet up the pace a little, or take some chances. Instead, he seems to throw in rally ball errors. The two forehand misses he had in the tiebreaker were rough, but worse was that they weren’t even shots that were going to score. He was just guiding the ball in straight over the net. I guess in the end, beating Alcaraz, or even playing him even for a time, is a huge ask. It was a great match.
FAA will have his best chance to beat Alcaraz here. Alcaraz’s arm is potentially not 100%, and Korda probably should have won a set. I think the pace alone that Felix brings will wake Carlitos up a bit, and he has beaten FAA the last few times they’ve played so he’ll know which shots to employ and when. Even with his arm a question mark, Alcaraz’s speed around the court and ability to extend rallies are the right assets to score on FAA. Auger-Aliassime’s main issue on tour is that he can overhit forehands and cough up unforced errors. It should be noted also that FAA Shelton was played under a closed roof, which helps Felix’s serve a bit. The weather in Paris looks pretty nice for the rest of the tournament, so it’ll be warm and ideal for Alcaraz to wear him down and isolate his backhand when he can. FAA is good enough to compete at this level, but hasn’t been doing it regularly enough for me to think he can do so here for 3 whole sets. Alcaraz in 4.

Hurkacz vs Dimitrov :

Dimitrov leads this h2h 5-0. All the matches have been close, but you don’t get to 5-0 against Hurkacz unless you can reliably return serve. If you can reliably return serve, you can beat Hurkacz, and on clay it should be even more beneficial. Hurkacz has played excellent in this clay swing considering his status as a servebot, and leading into Wimbledon and the North American swing I think his baseline improves have him primed for some titles. He had a hard test with Shapovalov in round 3, and the new and sort of decent Shapovalov put up a good fight. Dimitrov had an easier time with Zizou Bergs, despite dropping a set. Bergs broke Dimitrov a bunch in this match, but Dimitrov’s slice gave him a lot of trouble. Grigor was content to just keep hitting the court, and it was enough in the end. Bergs had trouble lifting his forehand inside in off of the slice, and it meant going mostly inside out which Dimitrov was only too comfortable with. The quick turnaround is a concern here, but I don’t think the Bergs match was as labor intensive as it could have been. There were numerous rain delays, and the scores were close but only because Dimitrov didn’t redline. He served with control, he hit to big targets, and he secured the bag.
I don’t think Hurkacz gets beaten quickly here, and I don’t think Dimitrov is automatic just because of the h2h. He should win, but Dimitrov lost to Rune/Mensik/Fritz recently and those are all players right around Hurkacz level. If this goes to a 5th, I’d be pretty worried for Dimitrov’s chances. Picking Dimitrov in 4 feels tough, because Bergs got to a 4th and he wasn’t really playing his best today. The h2h is hard to ignore, so I’ll go with Dimitrov in 5. The quick turnaround might leave him tired but he should be able to outduel Hurkacz in most volleys and the low slices will be tough for the big dude to get down on.

Sinner vs Moutet :

Nothing like a seemingly simple one to end a full day of criticizing professional athletes for not being perfect <3. Moutet has been the most entertaining player in this event. He has won and lost lopsided sets, he has gone for every shot possible, he is chatting with the crowd, and he is giving the home country something to believe in. Considering he couldn’t even hit a two-handed backhand for a good chunk of the past year due to wrist surgery, it’s pretty impressive for him to get his game back to a really high level. Ofner was beating him early in the third round, but he was also sweating profusely. The workload of defending against Moutet’s big forehand strokes and his clever dropshots is exhausting, and Ofner’s game dipped as the match went on. It’ll be fun to see Sinner trading with Moutet, and it’ll be another look at his physical ability to see how quickly he moves to the frontcourt and how he defends Moutet’s forehand inside out. Generally with a hip injury, it’s sprinting forward and leaning wide to that side that becomes an issue.
Sinner has sort of entered a big however many group in terms of his results. He is able to beat the lower tier players for the entire match, and is consistently able to do so. There are no holes in his game, and aside from his hip issue there is no reason to think he loses here. Moutet has the game to make this the match of the day, but it feels like he’s spent a lot more time and energy on court and that’ll cost him. Sinner in 3.

2024.06.02 06:20 Exciting-Bloke7887 Serious Advice to Aspiring Pilots

As a person who recently passed their PPL, I want to give potential pilots advice so that they could avoid the same mistakes I made during training and during the checkride. I hope you guys find this helpful:
  1. Personally, I HIGHLY suggest part 141. I went from a part 141 to 61 because I had a terrible experience with a preivous flight school, which is another story for another day. A 141 program will give you structure and study skills whereas 61 you get to design your own curriculum in a way. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with making your own curriculum. Some people learn differently than others. But the problem is that you're entering into a skilled field that you have presumably never been a part of before, so you're gonna have to learn to walk before you run in both the air and on the ground. Now, I understand that people on this forum might have a different opinion than me on this topic, but as a new learner, I think the more structure the better goes a long way. Especially when it comes down to saving money and preventing gaps in your knowledge, in addition to having to spend hundreds of dollars of extra money like I did.
  2. Buy a good ground school IMMEDIATELY. Trust, me, this is going to bite you if you wait off for too long like I did. Buy a ground school (and a good one) so you have checkride knowledge and will be able to get at least an 85% on the PPL written. DPEs care about those scores, so make sure you're prepared.
  3. FFS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use checklists on the checkride and read the ACS before your checkride dates. Write down what you're good and bad at and work around it with your instructor. I literally cannot even begin to describe how many people bust their checkrides over bad reasons like this.
  4. After you learn how to do normal landings, practice short and soft field often. This is another common reason why people fail. They simply do not have their landings up to standard or maybe they just had a bad day on their checkride.
  5. DO RESEARCH BEFORE SELECTING A DPE. Here's the thing: There are many great DPEs out there who want you to succeed. Of course, they are not going to pass you if you are not prepared, but there are DPEs out there that are genuinely terrible people who are only fat it for the money and will have no guilt in failing you for stupid reasons. Ask what kind of experiences other pilots had with their DPEs and see if they would recommend him or not.
  6. Study. I don't have much to say about this. If you do not study and have a system in place that will keep you're knowledge on track as time passes, you WILL struggle BIG TIME and ultimately spend more money. Just read over the books for 45 minutes a day. AND START TO STUDY THE ORAL EXAM GUIDE COVER TO COVER EARLY IN YOUR TRAINING. If you do this you'll have that whole thing drilled in your head before you know it no matter how dreadfully long it is.
  7. Do your research on the school you go to. Also, be VERY careful of programs like ATP who promise you a bunch of benefits but don't deliver. They will take your money, leave you in debt and not give a single damn. Choose your school wisely, read reviews, talk to instructors, and make sure that you will not be treated badly. I learned this the hard way before switching flight schools. Also look up ATP stories on Reddit and other internet sites and you will see the bad reviews and false promises that I am talking about.
  8. If you're not doing well with your instructor (maybe he/she is not a good teacher). By all means, switch. A lot of people avoid switching because they're afraid that it may make the instructor feel bad. Trust me, it is ok. If you have a problem, maybe you're struggling on a topic, or you aren't absorbing info from your instructor, talk to your CFI to try to get it resolved. If not, switch.
A good CFI will know that some people click better with others in the long run. ALSO, occasionally take flights with other instructors. If you are struggling on a specific area with your current instructor, I guarantee you a few flights/grounds with another really good instructor will help you understand the material more easily. This is even if you simply couldn't get the knowledge through your head with your original CFI. If I had done this on topics I struggled on, I wouldn't have spent the time and money that I spent.
I hope you guys got something from this. Some of these are expensive lessons that I am giving to you guys for free. Hope this helps.

I recently got my hands on this OLIDEAR LED Headlamp Torch, and I must say it's been a game-changer in my outdoor adventures. I used it for a camping trip last weekend, and I was impressed at how bright the light was. The high brightness LED headlamp with its powerful T6 led spotlight shone like a beacon in the dark.
One feature that really stood out for me was its adjustable lighting angle. I could easily rotate the lamp holder as per my needs and ensure the light was shining in the right direction. The wide lamp cup was another added perk as it allowed me to illuminate a larger area.
The waterproof property of this headlamp was a lifesaver during my camping trip. With an ABS shell, it ensured that my device remained secure even in the wettest conditions. The elastic headband also helped it cling to me when I was running in the wilderness trying to catch a glimpse of a wild animal.
The built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery was another great feature of this product. The lamp lasted me up to 6-8 hours with its brighter mode on. Although I did not use it for hunting, I was able to use the lower mode for a prolonged period of time while reading by the campfire. It's great that this headlamp is versatile and can be used for various activities.
However, one drawback I noticed was that the rotating mechanism was a bit loose. This made it difficult at times to hold and lock the device in place. The weight of the battery pack was also a concern, as after an hour it did start to feel quite heavy on my head.
In conclusion, the OLIDEAR LED Headlamp Torch has been a reliable device for my outdoor escapades. Its high brightness, adjustable lighting angle, waterproof protection, and rechargeable battery are all positive aspects. But its loose rotating mechanism and the weight of the battery pack are areas that need some improvement. Overall, it's a pretty good purchase for outdoor enthusiasts looking for a functional and bright headlamp.

I recently gave the Aikertec Headlamp a try during an outdoor camping trip, and let me tell you, it was a game-changer. I loved the 90° adjustable feature which allowed me to direct the light exactly where I needed it, be it during a late-night bathroom run or while exploring the surrounding area. The super bright 6000-lumen LED lights had me seeing clearly even in the darkest of conditions.
But the best part? It's rechargeable! I no longer have to worry about constantly buying new batteries, and it's always ready to go when I need it most. Not to mention, it's Ipx7 waterproof, so even if it gets a little wet, it'll still work like a charm. The downside, though, is that the included batteries can run out pretty quickly when using it in the highest mode, but other than that, the Aikertec Headlamp has exceeded my expectations.

I've been using the Mateminco G02 Headlamp for a while now, and it's quickly become one of my favorites. The 1600-lumen brightness is impressive, and the camouflage design is perfect for blending into any environment.
However, I noticed a few downsides as well. The headlamp doesn't come with the 18650 battery, which is a bummer. Additionally, the impact resistance seems a bit lacking at just 1 meter. All in all, it's a great choice for those looking for a reliable, bright headlamp, but don't forget to pick up an extra battery!

🔗Powerful, Waterproof LED Headlamp for Hunting, Fishing, and Camping

As an avid camper, I've had my fair share of waterproof gadgets. This USB rechargeable headlight, however, stood out due to its IPX6 weatherproof design. It's always been a headache trying to maneuver my way through the forest during a downpour, but this headlamp managed to keep the rain at bay and my journey lit up.
An eagle-eyed lens with high refractive index offered the perfect mix of flood lighting and light-gathering effects. The rotating zoom switch added versatility to the headlamp, switching between flood mode to the right and focus mode to the left.
Three working modes - full bright, strobe, and adjustable brightness - catered to my different needs. Despite being small and powerful, the headlamp had a surprisingly long battery life of 6-12 hours after a full charge. The inclusion of a USB cable for charging and its ability to charge a cellphone added a unique and helpful feature.
The headlamp was comfortable to use too, thanks to its adjustable elastic band and head sponge pad. It's not only comfortable for adults but also suitable for children.
A definite must-have for those seeking versatility and functionality in an outdoor gear.

🔗Outdoor Camping Headlamp with 18650 Battery and USB Charging

Last weekend, I had the chance to try out the 46G XTE+COB Outdoor Camping Headlamp during a hiking trip. I was impressed by its sturdy build, thanks to the aluminum alloy and ABS materials used in its construction. The headlamp's secure press switch made it convenient to turn on or off while I was on the move.
Powered by a built-in 800 mA 18650 rechargeable battery, this little lamp never left me in the dark. It was waterproof, with an IPX4 rating, so I wasn't afraid to use it when the weather turned sour. It charged easily using the Type-C USB charger, and I appreciated its compact size when I needed to store it away.
When it came to functionality, the Headlamp offered six different light modes, which allowed me to adapt to various situations. I particularly liked the alternating flash mode for catching the attention of others, and the SOS mode in case of an emergency. The beam was bright and wide, with an impressive 180° LED coverage.
However, there were a few cons to consider. Firstly, the light modes were not as user-friendly as I would have liked, especially when trying to switch between them quickly. Secondly, the SOS mode was not as responsive as I expected, and I had to press the switch multiple times to trigger it.
Overall, the 46G XTE+COB Outdoor Camping Headlamp was a reliable companion during my hiking trip. It offered me the right balance of brightness, durability, and convenience, despite a few minor drawbacks.

FAQ

What is an 18650 Headlamp?

An 18650 Headlamp is a portable flashlight designed to provide illumination in various situations. It uses the 18650 Li-ion battery, which is rechargeable and has a high energy density, making it a popular choice among outdoor enthusiasts, campers, and emergency responders.

https://preview.redd.it/lkpd56xi434d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5796dd1d70a5cb3f7884eaa5d46e81ebbae158e6

What is the difference between an 18650 Headlamp and a conventional flashlight?

An 18650 Headlamp provides hands-free operation, unlike a conventional flashlight that requires holding it in your hand. Additionally, most 18650 Headlamps are more compact and lightweight, making them easier to carry and use in confined spaces or during activities that require the use of both hands.

What are the benefits of using an 18650 Headlamp over other battery types?

The main advantages of using 18650 batteries in Headlamps include: improved energy density, lower self-discharge rate, and extended battery life due to the rechargeable nature of Li-ion batteries. Furthermore, 18650 batteries are generally more environmentally friendly than disposable alkaline batteries.

How do I choose the right 18650 Headlamp for my needs?

  • Determine your budget and desired features (e. g. , water resistance, adjustable beam, etc. ).
  • Check the battery's capacity, voltage, and compatibility with the Headlamp.
  • Evaluate the Headlamp's lumens output and beam range to ensure it meets your needs.
  • Consider the product's overall durability and ease of use.

What should I look for in an 18650 Headlamp's specifications?

  • Lumens output: This measures the total amount of visible light emitted by the lamp. A higher lumens rating generally equates to greater brightness.
  • Beam distance: This measures how far the light reaches at a specific intensity level.
  • Battery voltage and capacity: Ensure the Headlamp's voltage and battery capacity can support your activities and preferences.
  • Water resistance: Some Headlamps are designed for outdoor use and offer a degree of water resistance, which is essential for activities under adverse weather conditions.

How do I maintain and care for an 18650 Headlamp?

To extend the life of your Headlamp and ensure optimal performance, follow these maintenance tips: recharge batteries as needed, clean the lamp regularly to prevent moisture or debris buildup, store the batteries separately from the lamp, and keep the Headlamp away from extreme temperatures or humidity.

2024.06.02 06:18 bangersonlyplz 40 weeks, family driving me nuts

I hit my due date today, and I have been all over the place emotionally. I’m super excited that my baby could come any time, I’m anxious about labor and childbirth, I’m scared by my inexperience with babies, I’m grappling with this new chapter of my and my husband’s life starting with just a cascade of emotions- and then there’s my parents.
They’ve been calling me every day, and sometimes when I answer they just immediately go “are you in labor?” before I can even say anything.
I’ve told them explicitly what the expectations are for when baby comes- they’ll get a text from my husband when we’re on our way to the hospital, another after the baby is born, and then they’ll wait to hear from us about when we’re ready for visitors, which will be after we get home from the hospital. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve outlined this for them.
But then they call, and call, and ask if they’ll be allowed to come to the hospital, and make jokes about sneaking in to see the baby. And they’re divorced- so my dad keeps saying he wants to be texted first before my mom, and I am just like- why are you putting this childish rivalry on me, a 36 year old woman who is 40 weeks pregnant?? They’re both saying they’ll leave work as soon as they get the text. I am like- “why? You will not be allowed to visit, I put “no visitors” in my birth plan.”
I have a physical reaction every time they make me repeat myself, I feel like my blood pressure must be sky rocketing. It honestly makes me not even want to tell them when the baby is born at all. I don’t think they would really violate my very clear boundaries by showing up unwanted, but the fact they’re making jokes and forcing me to repeat myself again and again is just stressing me out.
They’re also really only interested in the baby and knowing when he might come. They’re not asking about me at all- how I’m doing, what I’m feeling. It’s just “are you having contractions yet”, “when can we visit”, “are you sure you don’t want us at the hospital”, over and over again.
I know they are anxious and excited, but I am about to go feral and run away to birth my baby in the deep woods

2024.06.02 06:18 Signal-Fun2289 Good mid range wheels for this game?

TL;DR version. As the title says. Some good mid range wheels for this game?
Long version. The Game Pass free play days worked a treat by getting me to try out the game and end up buying it just a couple hours later. The learning curve was quite crazy as I'm a pad user coming from more casual games like Forza and F1, but managed to get a hold of it and do some pretty consistent laps. Decided to get out my very old and dusty budget Thurstmaster 458 which I never really used because I was always about 4 seconds a lap off on other games, but here I was straight away matching my controller times which really shows how beneficial a wheel is. All that yapping aside, what are some good wheels that aren't budget but also won't break the bank? I'm an Xbox user if that makes any difference

2024.06.02 06:15 Scyth3r_ 25M, Everything that you ever did brought you here on this post. Might as well, check it out!!

Hi, I am 25 y/o Physicist(not at all like Sheldon Cooper, lol), looking to make some long term friends. I have got some free time at my hand from work, so I thought why not use it to make some new connections.
So, when I am not busy unravelling the secrets of the universe, I like to draw, sketch and paint, read books, watch movies and TV shows, with my favourite genre being sci-fi and psychological thrillers, and listen to music. I also like to play football(soccer for my American friends) and video games on my PC. I have started learning guitar recently as well.
I like to have nice meaningful converstaions as well as light and funny ones too. I try my best to make people smile and laugh and provide a safe, non-judgemental space for them to open up at their own pace. You can talk to me about anything. Your day was good? Tell me all about it. Your day went bad? Vent all you want. Saw a cute person that you instantly had a crush on? Share what you liked about them. Had something nice to eat? Tell me how good it was. Have some problems in your life? Share them and we'll try to find solutions together but no compulsion if you only wanna vent. Just be yourself!!
If any of this rings a bell, you can send me a chat and we can connect and get in the process of knowing one another. I have no preferences over gender but I do ask that you be atleast 18+. Hope you all have great day!!

2024.06.02 06:15 pog90s Check Out my first APP, Binary Brew: A Free useless/useful macOS App to Keep Your Screen Awake

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to share a little project I worked on for fun – it’s called Binary Brew. It’s a lightweight, free app for macOS that helps keep your screen awake. I think this app is pretty useful for some. Honestly, all it is is a GUI for the terminal function "caffeinate."
Why I Made It:
I use the caffeinated terminal function often and used to rely on the Caffeine app, but it’s become quite overpriced. So, I decided to build Binary Brew as a free alternative. Feel free to take my code and make it better!
What It Does:
One-Click Activation: Keep your screen awake with a single click.
Custom Timers: Set it for 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
Simple and Lightweight: Easy to use without any fuss.
How to Get It:
  1. Download it from the GitHub Releases section.
  2. Drag Binary Brew to your Applications folder.
  3. Open the app and you’re good to go!
Feedback:
I’d love to hear what you think! Feel free to drop comments or issues on GitHub. I can't promise I'll update this often, because this is just something I did for fun. It's my first coding project.
GitHub Repository: Binary Brew
Thanks for checking it out!

2024.06.02 06:15 Ok-Mine-5994 Gvk kong help and gxk kong help and why gxk’s is better

In gvk it was irritating how they felt the need to save Kong around every corner yes ik it makes sense ( ocean fight, warbat, etc) but it honestly felt like he was being babysat which kinda makes sense again a bit since he’s travelling around the world and they need him for hollow earth. However in gxk it shows kong being independent. In hollow earth he’s free to traverse and live without human intervention. Whenever he has human help in gxk It’s him taking advantage of his human allies like for a toothache or for his froztbitten arm and it’s him trusting them since he’s much more tolerant and interactive with humans than Godzilla is. In gxk he doesn’t need help in monster fights unless it’s Godzilla which both need help of eachother to face skar and shimo ( and it’s the premise of the movie) kong seems to have hollow earth down top to bottom too and can handle most titans just fine.

2024.06.02 06:13 First-Sale-9052 Part 2 of my experience with a narcissist

So, last time, y’all caught his narcissistic behavior early. Let me just say that in-between those moments things were “okay” and we had a good time goofing off at work. That was what made distancing myself a bit difficult, don’t come for me.
But this solidified that I needed to get the fuck away from him. I’m going to try to make this short, but I probably won’t be successful at it.
SO! We were sitting outside the job. We were silent until he said, “I don’t like women wearing wigs. I like women who wear their natural hair.” I just so happened to be wearing a wig, so I ignored his comment. He continued, “You need to stop wearing wigs. And the lens of your glasses are so big, no one can see your eyes. That would bolster your self-esteem.”
Like, what?????
I told him I don’t really care about what he thought about my wigs or my glasses and all he replied with was that he was just trying to help since I had low self-esteem and that I was mad for no reason or some shit. I wasn’t, by the way, as I said, I will wear what I want and be happy with myself. He tried to analyze my body language and tone of voice. Then his ride was summoned, but before he left he told me to “use my natural hair more often,” like I had such disdain for my hair. Ugggh!
I was upset at that point. When I got home I texted him. Looking back, I had no NEED to explain myself but hindsight is 20/20, yeah? I texted him and here’s how it went.
Me: sorry, but your “advice” wasn’t helpful. I don’t even get my hair done sometimes cause it’s expensive.
Him: you could literally braid your hair for free if you have a good friend
Me (a day later): and I’m happy with how I look
Him: …. Good for you
Him: you caring about what I think is utterly wild to me
Me: I’m happy you went to “help” me but your unsolicited advice was not needed
The next few days or so, I did not speak to him at all. There were brief interactions. I even gave a way an extra soda for him, but other than that, nothing. He tried acting like we were cool, but I didn’t buy into it. I gave away that soda because I wanted to show him that I could be a good friend but keep playing with me, and I’m gone. Looking back now, that was weird.
After about for or five drafts I finally decided to post this so….what do you think???! Comment below!

🔗Mighty Nebo 12K Rechargeable LED Flashlight: Powerful and Versatile

https://preview.redd.it/bn0ebinu234d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5cf9a09bc7597de18ff9abd66e64e7e265cc629d
As a flashlight enthusiast, I recently had the chance to try out the Nebo 12K Rechargeable Flashlight, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. This flashlight boasts 5 different light modes, making it a versatile companion for any outdoor activity or emergency situation.
The highlight of this rechargeable flashlight is its impressive run time, particularly in low mode. With 12 hours of use on low mode, you can be sure it will last during those long power outages or camping trips. Not only does it have a long run time, but it also provides a powerful beam that reaches up to 721 feet.
One feature I appreciated was the 2x adjustable zoom, which allows for flexibility and precision when illuminating a subject. Additionally, the IP67 waterproof rating gave me peace of mind when using the flashlight in wet conditions, knowing it would not easily malfunction.
The NEBO 12K truly shines as a multi-purpose tool, effectively functioning as a camping light, hunting light, EDC flashlight, and even doubling as a power bank for your USB-rechargeable devices.
There were a couple of drawbacks, however. The flashlight itself can be quite heavy, weighing in at 2 pounds, which may be a consideration for some users. The high setting only reaches up to 3,000 lumens, which might not be the brightest available on the market.
In summary, the Nebo 12K Rechargeable Flashlight offers versatility, durability, and an impressive beam distance, making it an excellent choice for outdoor enthusiasts and emergency preparedness. The only downside is its weight and the relatively low lumen capacity on the highest mode, but overall, I am quite pleased with my experience using this flashlight.

🔗990,000 Lumen Rechargeable Flashlight: Waterproof, Portable, & Durable High-Lumen LED Light

https://preview.redd.it/wm2dbb6v234d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d7b313579d285df14ac1a93c9f20b157ae6b7350
I recently tried using this Super Bright LED Flashlight during a camping trip, and I must admit, it was an impressive and necessary piece of gear for my outdoor explorations. With a maximum output of 990,000 lumens, it was brighter than most of my other flashlights combined. The upgraded LED chip and battery really made a difference.
One of the standout features of this high-lumen rechargeable flashlight was the large 12000mAh battery that allowed for up to 24 hours of continuous operation at low light mode. It was perfect for nighttime hikes or scouting while navigating through dense forests. The fast charging port was also a nice touch, significantly speeding up the charging process.
I enjoyed the fact that this flashlight had 4 modes - high, medium, low, and strobe - which were incredibly useful in different situations. The easy-to-use switch made it simple to toggle between modes and turn off after use. The durable yet lightweight construction, coupled with its waterproof design, made it a suitable companion for any adventure.
Overall, my experience with the Super Bright LED Flashlight was both exhilarating and eye-opening, as it truly illuminated the darkness and provided comfort on my camping trip. One particularly impressive feature was the built-in rubber USB cover; it not only added durability to the flashlight but also made it less prone to accidents. Using this flashlight has been enjoyable and convenient, fulfilling its purpose as a powerful, rechargeable, and versatile light to keep away darkness and danger.

These SKNSL Rechargeable LED Flashlights truly shine with their impressive 900,000 lumen output, providing brightness you can count on. I was particularly drawn to the 7 modes, making it a versatile choice for all kinds of adventures.
One thing I really appreciated is the use of COB technology in these flashlights. It made the focus easily adjustable, switching between wide range and spot illumination, greatly aiding in my detection of surroundings.
However, it did take some getting used to with handling the light for long periods of time due to the intense brightness, which felt more like a sun's intense glare.
But overall, these LED flashlights provide a powerful and rechargeable source of light in emergencies or during your outdoor treks. With their IP6 waterproof rating and strong aluminum alloy body, they are built to handle any weather or situation.

It's perfect for search and rescue, but I've also found it handy for when I need a little extra light while camping.
The Fenix LR50R is easy to use, too. With dual stainless steel side switches, you can quickly cycle through its six brightness modes and SOS, beacon, and strobe functions. The built-in tripod mount is a nice touch, making it convenient to use in different settings.
Now, let's talk about the battery life. The included 16,000 mAh battery pack can be fast-charged with the USB Type-C charging cable, and it has enough juice to keep the flashlight running for over 58 hours on eco mode. Plus, the LR50R can also be powered by one to four 21700 batteries, making it a great backup for when your primary battery dies.
The Fenix LR50R isn't without its minor cons, though. It's definitely on the heavier side, so it might not be the best option for those who prefer a lighter flashlight. Also, while the flashlight itself is well-made, the included accessories could use some improvement - I found the holster and lanyard a bit flimsy.
Overall, the Fenix LR50R rechargeable flashlight is a powerful and versatile tool that's perfect for those who need a reliable light source in any situation. Its high lumen output, easy-to-use interface, and long battery life make it a standout choice among other flashlights on the market.

🔗Extra Bright, Waterproof Rechargeable Flashlight for Emergency and Outdoor Use

Last month, I decided to give the Yierblue Rechargeable Spotlight Flashlight a try during one of my usual camping trips. At first, I was skeptical about its claimed brightness, but it truly was extra bright compared to the small models I've used before. The LED light had a lifespan of 50,000 hours, which was impressive considering how often I used it, and its 1000,000 lumen beam was able to cast light up to an incredible 550 yards.
One of the features I found particularly helpful was its IP67 waterproof and floating ability. I submerged it into the river near my campsite by accident, but not only did it perform like a charm, but it actually floated back up to the surface! This added layer of durability was a definite pro, especially when paired with the High strength ABS housing and silicone protective case.
The flashlight's versatile capabilities added even more convenience to my outdoor adventures. With an output port that served as a power bank to charge my devices in emergencies and built-in 10000 mAh batteries, I was confident I would never be left in the dark. The 4 adaptable light settings made it suitable for various activities, from working on a farm to hunting or simply providing hands-free lighting.
Despite all its advantages, one thing I did notice was that the flashlight tended to be quite heavy in comparison to others, making it less ideal for extended periods of use or carrying around on long hikes. Additionally, though the provided red filter was great for specific purposes, such as hunting, I would've appreciated a more adjustable or easily removable feature to further customize the light.
On the whole, my experience with the Yierblue Rechargeable Spotlight Flashlight has been a pleasant one. The brightness, waterproofing, and versatility of the device made it a valuable addition to my camping gear, while its weight and filter issues were minor inconveniences. Overall, I would recommend this flashlight for anyone in need of a heavy-duty, extra bright light for their outdoor adventures.

Buyer's Guide

In this buyer's guide, we will provide you with the important features, considerations, and general advice to help you make an informed decision.

Important Features

Brightness

The primary feature to look for in a 12000 Lumen flashlight is, of course, the brightness. This amount of light output is suitable for various environments, including camping, hiking, emergency situations, and even industrial settings. Always check the manufacturer's specifications to ensure the flashlight delivers the advertised brightness.

Weight and Portability

A 12000 Lumen flashlight can be quite heavy, so consider the weight and portability when making your decision. If you plan to carry the flashlight frequently, choose one with a comfortable grip and a balance of size, weight, and power. Additionally, consider whether the flashlight comes with a carrying case, holster, or any other accessories that may aid in portability.

Durability

Since a 12000 Lumen flashlight is likely to be used in outdoor or rugged environments, durability is crucial. Look for a flashlight with a sturdy, waterproof, and shock-resistant build. Check the materials and construction, as well as the manufacturer's warranty, to ensure the product can withstand the wear and tear of everyday use.

Battery Life

A 12000 Lumen flashlight requires a significant amount of power. As such, it's essential to consider the battery life. High-capacity rechargeable batteries are usually recommended for these types of flashlights. Additionally, a fast charging time and the ability to use replaceable batteries can be great advantages.

Beam Type and Beam Pattern

Different flashlight models come with different beam types and patterns. A focused beam is ideal for long-distance illumination, while a wider beam pattern is better for close-up tasks. Consider the activities you'll be using the flashlight for and choose one with a beam type and pattern that suits your needs.

2024.06.02 06:11 Cardholderdoe My middling furiosa review, tagged for spoilers.

So I dumped this deep into one of the other threads, but am curious as to see what others think of it bounced up a bit.
The TLDR is that I think this is a good movie - my ranking is probably 6.8-7. It is.... real long for reasons I can't explain though.
Full thoughts are below but tagged as spoiler. Me and said friend walked out of the theater 7 hours ago.
Our biggest complaint by a mile is just... the movie is too long for what it is. Just way too long. There are several sections that could have been cut/trimmed in the beginning and middle that are just... there and heavily extended for no reason we could see. The biggest example I can give is that I had to use the bathroom shortly after the Rictus bit where he had taken her away from the other wives just before she goes full "pretending to be a boy" and they start building the war rig. I made a point to look at my phone while I was in the bathroom cause I thought things had probably gone on for a while by that point, and I was right. We were an hour and 10 minutes into the movie and the main character wasn't even an adult yet.
That's more of an example than the whole breadth of the issue, but that is a crazy amount of time for a prequel movie. There are loads of examples that would have covered what the movie had by that time in... 15 minutes if you were being drastic and 30 if you really wanted to explore the space. 45 if you wanted to go really above and beyond.
Another example we could think of was the action sequence with the horned warrior going rogue. This action sequence is in our opinion, probably the best the movie has to offer. It's the closest to the Fury Road style of action beats, has outstanding cinematography, a great story is told visually over the entire section. It's arguably the best 10-15 mins of the movie...
And yet it required an absurd amount of set up to get there involving a lot of characters that aren't really central to the plot at all. It's main point in the movie is to show how competent Furiosa is by that point and hit on her motives of "still getting home". It also sets up Praetor Jack as a mentoquasi love interest by the end of it and shows how she "earned" her spot in the convoy crew.
But the set up to get there primarily rotates around the Horned Warrior and why he decided to go rogue on Dementus, which earned probably 10-15 minutes of runtime beforehand to get to that point for a character who ultimately should kind of barely be a footnote to the movie.
There's a similar thing that happens with most of Dementus' more prominent crew mates get establishing shots and kind of almost fleshed out backstories, only for those same crew members to have extremely segmented deaths/not really do much for the story because the script is already accounting for 2.5 hours of storytelling and having a sizable payoff just wasn't in the cards.
The other issues we had with it were... honestly what felt like plotholes at worst, or framing mistakes at best. A quick hit list-
The Place of Aboundance is shown as a very advanced society with a lot of population and a clear warning system - people can hear Furiosa's whistle and at least 10-15 are rushing into the woods at a dime, but in the end, only two people follow to engage the raiders, and only one of them continues the pursuit.
While Dementus is having Jack drug for "his crimes", there's an establishing shot of Furiosa chained to the big rig, jack is being drug in a circle by one of the motorcycles, and then there is a larger motorcycle circle circling that and heckling. Somehow despite being in the center of at least one (maybe both) rings, Furiosa rips her arm off, sabotages the monster truck, steals a bike, and gets out without anyone noticing despite her being a central part (like literally, she's in the middle) to the whole affair.
There's basically no explanation as to how Dementus was able to take the bullet farm except "the king of the bullet farm was busy talking to joe about killing Dementus". This, theoretically should easily be the most heavily armed/defended of the three major stronghold cities, even if their leader isn't there. They legit just make guns/bullets, and have a very workable defensive wall with clear protocols to opening the gates. There's also... some uh... plot armor on said gate when the war rig cant back through but the monster truck rams it down after two bangs at short distance- we can chalk that one up to suspension of disbelief, but the idea that the farm didn't already have a thousand snipers ready to handle "idiots on motorcyles" hit us as off.
There were some other minor examples, and even these may have actual explanations we missed, but they're also pretty glaring on a casual watch.
Finally... we both kind of thought the max "tie in" was fairly weird/out of place except just to show "Oh hey max was here but didn't care about any of it until years later" and also to show "yes we promise tom hardy won't be coming back".
I really don't want this to come off as us not liking it, because we both agreed it was indeed a pretty good flick. It honestly has more in common with the very first film than anything else though - being a kind of biographical retelling of one person's entire life in the wasteland rather than any one event with a heavy grindhouse revenge plot... and both of those movies kind of suffer for it.
We both loved the amount of worldbuilding - I was especially geeked to see both bullet farmand gas town in the flesh. It was amazing to get an idea of what characters inhabit those worlds, although if they were already going ham, I would have preferred to see more of bullet farm's denziens.
I especially loved the new actor for younger Immortan Joe - I thought he was played expertly and was an outstanding contrast to Dementus being an upjumped minor warlord high on himself. Trading for a new "breeder" and a doctor was particularly inspired.
And it goes without saying in this franchise that the action scenes were all great. We both especially loved the aforementioned sequence with the horned warrior's crew. Despite the faults in the early sequences, the opening sequence with Furiosa getting kidnapped and her mother coming for her was also very excellent and visceral. The showdown at the Bullet Farm was also outstanding.
While slightly overdone, we both were also obviously very much loving Hemsworth hamming it up as a strong a villain as we've seen. He did great just being as over the top as possible, and we were laughing a lot - we both agreed at least some of this could have gotten cut since it seems like his character got more play than furiosa's in some ways, but the execution was outstanding and he's a great character to add to the series.
Finally, we both thought that Dementus' end was probably as cruel and fitting for this fucked up wasteland world and got a strong heavy nod.
At the same time, it felt like a very bloated production with a lot of set ups that ultimately don't feel like they go to satisfying places. In the pantheon of the franchise I probably have it tied with the original and above Thunderdome... but well well behind Fury Road and Road Warrior. Good movie, but there are very much flaws to be found.

2024.06.02 06:11 gholmey899 When I’m by myself (24F), I know what I want. But when I’m with my partner (27M), I think I want whatever he wants. What does this mean & how do I fix it?

As the title says, when I’m by myself, I think about all the things I want to change in my life — where I live, what I want to work toward, how I want to spend my free time, etc.
But when I try to talk to my boyfriend about making these changes, if he doesn’t also want those things, I leave the conversation thinking, “well, I’ll be happy whether I do X or not, as long as I’m still with him.”
For example, I’m not happy with where we live right now, and I want to move closer to my family. When we talk about it, he says he’s open to moving but would be sad to leave our current city — and then I feel guilty for trying to take him away from a place he loves and I think I’d be better off staying here with him.
Does that make sense? I feel very confused about what I want and how to keep sight of that in a relationship. I’ve noticed that I seem to have a pattern of doing this no matter what we’re talking about. Even with something small like dinner — I’ll say I want burgers, he’ll say he’s in the mood for pasta, and I’ll be like, ok yeah I’d actually be happy with pasta. And then I’m unhappy that I didn’t get what I wanted and a little resentful that I didn’t get to choose.
Is this normal? How do I keep my own needs/wants in mind in a relationship, even when they might make my partner unhappy ?

im holding off watching Godzilla Minus One online because I want my first experience of it to be in a Cinema
now I was one of those people who was very disappointed on Toho's decision on limiting the release of Minus One on chosen countries..... I really thought by the trailers that it is the best Godzilla movie so I wanted to experience it in a cinema... so I spared and saved up a bit of money expecting it would come in my country in dec 1 as well
I kept waiting till Dec 1 and any news on my country on its release and December came and went and nothing
I gave up and it bummed me out.... I thought I should just go with the digital release but an IDEA came to mind on how I could watch it in the cinema:
This idea is a bet that would make me wait for a year till next february of 2025 and its a gamble im willing to take the Japan Foundation helds a Japanese film festival that sets a stand on certain cinema branches on countries and does a FREE to watch Japanese films The lineup in the JFF are 2024:
And yet, you are so sweet (2023) Father of the Milky Way Road (2023) Gold Kingdom and Water Kingdom (2023) Voltes V: Legacy (2023)--------------- The First Slam Dunk (2022) A Man (2022) Angry Son (2022) Mondays: See you "this" week (2022)
We made a beautiful Boquet (2021)
Not quite dead yet (2020)
Detective Conan The Movie TPER (2006)
Voltes V The Liberation (1999) Detective Conan The Movie TTBS (1997) Tokyo Story (1953)
my point in showing the film lineup is showing that it has LATEST films around 2022 and 2023.... THE FIRST SLAM DUNK was released on december 2022 and was one of the biggest films on japan that year.... and with Godzilla Minus One, being released on 2023, being succesful and having a huge impact and message.... im taking a bet that Godzilla Minus One would have a spot on the JFF film festival 2025
\"I would love to recommend the FIRST SLAM DUNK to yall its a very good movie directed by Takehiko Inoue (creator of Vagabond, Slam Dunk and Real)

🔗Super Bright Camping LED Flashlight

When I first got my hands on the Tongtai Rechargeable LED Flashlight, I was excited to see how it would perform in various outdoor situations. As I tested it on a camping trip, the first thing that stood out to me was the brightness - the flashlight had a much wider field of view, thanks to the upgraded XHP70.2 LED bulb with a convex lens. This feature proved to be incredibly helpful when we were navigating through the dark woods.
However, I did notice that the flashlight wasn't completely waterproof, even though it had an IPX5 Waterproof Level. While I was able to use it in light rain, I wouldn't recommend submerging it in water for a long time. It's a minor drawback, but it's still great for the occasional splash.
The Tongtai LED Flashlight was perfect for our camping trip, as it provided us with the brightness we needed during our outdoor activities. Its portability and rechargeable nature made it a great addition to our camping gear, and I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a reliable LED flashlight for their adventures.

A couple of months ago, I stumbled upon the super bright NJ Forever Flashlight. It's rechargeable and boasts an impressive 900,000 lumens, making it perfect for emergency situations or outdoor activities. The fact that it's IPx6 waterproof and comes with a USB cable is a big plus, as it ensures the flashlight can handle a bit of splashing and makes charging a breeze.
However, something I wasn't particularly fond of was the chemical warning. It's the "Prop 65 warning, " which means this product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer. That aside, I must admit I've been quite impressed with how long the flashlight lasted during my tests; it consistently ran for about 12 hours on a single charge. The battery it uses is a Nickel–Metal Hydride battery, and while not as common as other battery types, it's still reliable and efficient.

I recently had the chance to try this rechargeable LED flashlight, and I must say, it's been a game-changer in my outdoor adventures. The 250,000-lumen brightness is unbelievable - it's like having a car headlight in the palm of your hand! And with an IP67 waterproof rating, it's perfect for all kinds of weather. Charging is a breeze too, thanks to the USB-C intelligent charging port. I also appreciate the thoughtful addition of a holster for easy belt clipping or backpack attachment.
One downside I've noticed is the bulky size, which can be a hassle to pack in tight spaces like backpacks. And while it's waterproof, it doesn't float, so if you drop it in water, you might have a tough time retrieving it. But overall, this super bright rechargeable flashlight has been a reliable companion on my camping, hiking, and outdoor excursions.

🔗Ultra-Bright 12000 Lumen Flashlight for Emergency and Outdoor Use

🔗9000 Lumen Military-Grade Waterproof Tactical Flashlight

Recently, I got my hands on the BengMxj Rechargeable LED Flashlights, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer. The flashlight's military-grade alloy body is built like a tank, and it's made to withstand rough handling. In the wilderness, I've found it to be super useful, as it's rated waterproof and designed for use in heavy rains, snow, and ice. The aluminum alloy body is resistant to scratches, corrosion, rust, and breakage, making it a durable choice for daily carry.
One of my favorite features is the adjustable zoom, which allows for both long-range observation and illumination of large areas. This flashlight isn't just for those in the military; its 5 different modes and 9000 lumen output make it perfect for everyone. You can switch to high, medium, low brightness, strobe, or SOS mode for different lighting environments. Plus, it's super lightweight, making it easy to carry around in your pocket or backpack.
However, no product is without its drawbacks. While the flashlight is durable, the included 18650 Rechargeable Batteries don't seem to last as long as I'd like, and the USB cable seems a bit flimsy. But overall, the BengMxj Rechargeable LED Flashlights have been a fantastic addition to my daily essentials, and I highly recommend them for anyone looking for a reliable and versatile flashlight.

Buyer's Guide

When it comes to selecting a 9000 lumen flashlight, there are a number of factors to consider. From battery life to durability, we've compiled a list of important features to consider before making your purchase. Let's get started!

Lumens and Brightness

https://preview.redd.it/outsicsi234d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=67ac11ea077b7591f30ee198d317db039969f4d5
The main draw of a 9000 lumen flashlight is the sheer brightness it offers. However, it's essential to understand how these lumens are measured and what they mean in terms of real-world brightness. Look for flashlights with a rating system, such as ANSI FL1, which will help you better understand the true output of the flashlight. Additionally, consider the beam distance and the beam type – whether it's a flood beam for a broader area or a spot beam for greater focus.

Battery Life and Charging

A flashlight's battery life is critical to its overall performance. Consider a flashlight with both rechargeable and replaceable batteries to ensure that you always have a source of power when you need it most. Look for flashlights with battery life indicators, so you can keep track of the remaining power and know when it's time to charge or replace the batteries.

Compatibility and Accessories

Accessories can greatly enhance the functionality of your flashlight. Consider buying a flashlight that offers additional accessories, such as holsters, belt clips, or diffuser lenses. Additionally, look for compatibility with other gear – headlamps or attachment options for other devices.

Durability and Construction

Flashlights with a sturdy build quality are more likely to withstand daily wear and tear and continue functioning correctly. Look for materials like waterproof aluminum or stainless steel, as they offer the best balance of durability and weight. You should also examine the flashlight's water resistance ratings, which will ensure your flashlight remains operational even in harsh weather conditions.

Ease of Use and Personal Preference

Finally, consider the ease of use and the specific features that would be most beneficial to your needs. Consider the flashlight's size, weight, and switch types. Some may prefer a push-button or tail-cap switch, while others might prefer a dial or twist control. Additionally, think about your personal preferences for operation – whether you need multiple brightness levels or strobe settings for emergency situations.
When purchasing a 9000 lumen flashlight, consider the brightness, battery life, accessories, durability, and ease of use. Choosing a flashlight that meets your specific needs will make all the difference in its performance and longevity. Happy shopping!
