Went to a diner with my mom in my high pop east coast state. Your typical diner here, plays catchy 80s music (“take on me”) and has a huge menu, though this one was run by Russians rather than the usual Greeks. When we went over to our booth two nice old Italian men said hi, which is already unusual for where I live, but when I sat down I learned he was a sitting congressman. Not state, real congress. Let's say I scrape (use robots to collect info) all the data I can get from a huge website (let's call it Y) to where people can list their used cars up for sale. Then I save this data to my database. Then I sell this data to multiple other companies by offering a paid API (simply said I open a channel for my clients to ask this info from me at any time with a monthly subscription). The website Y also offers their own official API but with a huge price. I plan to ask much less and not by using their API but using my bots to "go and visit website Y" every minute or so.
Is this legal? ChatGPT said no. Any way to make it legal? Maybe if I skip saving people's name and phone number and save only their car data and location with price etc?

So check this out gang, back in 2012 and forward a few years much of what the game was to be - was discussed and of course it's unrealistic to expect people to remember all of it so I'd like to make a reminder post about it. Specifically pertaining to the ship selections.
First, a disclaimer. If you want a realistic approach, I recommend NOT buying a ship for a gameplay loop you are unsure about, have limited to no experience in, and is not fully built out because changes are always coming, and it may ruin it for you. Also, each ship is designed for THAT purpose so if you try to use it for anything else but, it sucks. I read tons of comments advising ship sales to new player without asking what they like, their playstyle, hours/experience etc. If it's a starter ship like a titan or a nomad, sure, the general approach works. But I see people advising people buy 200$ + ships... knock that off.
I have an uncomfortable amount of money in this game because I'm dumb and I'm sure some people reading this will feel that in their soul, but we all need to remember what the devs say pertaining to this because your ship is literally your livelihood in the game (not in the alpha builds obviously).
Two important points were discussed years ago, the first is the different manufactures built and soon to be built for the same class. Such as the fighters/hauling/mining and so on. I see so much discussion about min maxing damage output and what is 'best' and also people asking why this ship and why that if another exists. Because it's not always about the numbers. They talked about this a few years back, why do you think you can buy 40 different sedan models that are basically the same thing with smaller tradeoffs for a car in real life? Choices and personal preferences, guys. I highly recommend you stop trying to spreadsheet your way through an alpha or even for when the game goes live... someday. It's an alpha... Chill.
Second, Stop buying or recommending ships to people if they don't even have a gameplay loop. If you want them, great, CIG will take your money but what I mean is don't buy for what they say it will be, buy for what it is. It'll avoid frustration when they change that loop later due to game mechanics or something unforeseen.

I bought a used 2022 G70 3.3t SP w/ 57k miles yesterday. The car was overall maintained pretty well. Oil changes every 4-5k miles. Had brakes and pads replaced at 51.5k miles. Dealership said they just did an oil change on the car before putting it up for sale.

I've been friends with L for decades. We've been what I had considered best friends. Our friendship has had some ups and downs, but nothing too major. When some years later I offered to pay for her and her new husband's tickets to come visit me if they got the travel documents, she never said no but never said yes. But she never tried to get the documents. I still cut her some slack.
Recently L moved to a different, neighboring, country and she's now 4 and a half hrs away by car. I visited her last year in her new hometown, then a second time we met up with her halfway (on her side of the border), and this visit was going to be my third time seeing her in this new country.
The first time I visited I went for just a couple of days and it was just me. Her mother-in-law was visiting as well at the time, so her husband was busy with work and entertaining his mom. My friend and I had a great time going everywhere just the two of us. The second visit when we met halfway, was very quick, just a few hours because she and her husband had to catch a ferry back. A lot of back and forth ensued where we planned to meet at 10:30 am because her husband had an online event earlier, but we could watch them have breakfast (I declined to have breakfast at that time given that we were eating lunch at 1pm), then chit chat and have lunch at 1 pm.
Day 4 she sent a message that she had a "fever" of 37ºC/98.6ºF and wasn't feeling well (again that is an even more perfectly normal body temperature). And she had the flu and didn't want to get us sick. She also said that the weather was rainy and bad and didn't want to get worse by going out in that weather (the day was sunny and clear). She sounded proud that she was telling me early enough that we could still get some sightseeing done. I was devastated to say the least. I took a while to reply thinking of all the things I could say, but I finally decided that if she just didn't want to see me I was not going to beg or point out the inconsistencies. I replied with the equivalent of an "Ok I guess". When she saw that, she sent a message about how she was going back to bed and how she "might" feel better if we wanted to stop by on our way out of town around 1 pm so we could say hi across the lobby while wearing masks. At that point, my husband and I had decided to just go home early because I was devastated and doubted she would see us. A couple of hours later, she tried calling, and sent tons of texts, again explaining that she had been sick with a fever and that the doctor had at some point (she did not see a doctor at this time) told her that she's contagious if she's coughing. And no, she was not going to be able to see us for the couple of minutes she had hinted at. I proceeded to ignore her messages as I was very upset and we were already driving back anyway.
The next day (my actual birthday), she sent a text in our group chat about how she was so sad she had been sick after all that planning, but happy birthday.
I don't know what to think. Was she avoiding me? Was she truly sick? If so, why tell me the not-really-fever temperatures? Is it bad depression? Was she having trouble with her husband and this was a way to cover for it? I kept telling her we could do anything she wanted, we didn't have to sightsee or go anywhere. She never suggested meeting at an open area to chat and not worry about being contagious until the very end. I am so hurt and upset, but part of me is wondering if this is one big cry for help. I know you can hook up power inverters to the aux power outlet in a vehicle (AKA the cigarette lighter) which can provide a certain amount of AC power to small electronics and whatnot.
Would it be possible to use one to power a sump pump via extension cord?
I see power inverters for sale that advertise a RANGE of wattages up to, say, 3000W. My Colorado's front aux Power outlet is on a 50 amp fuse, so a generous battery voltage of 12.6 would mean my maximum wattage is 630.
My Wayne sump pump is a 4 amp pump, running on household 120v (the sticker lists it at 115, but I'll use 120 for the calculation) so that comes out to 480 watts.
So...would an inverter running off the vehicle's aux power outlet be able to supply enough power to the sump pump in case of power failure? Is the inverter actaully going to provide the wattage advertised?
This isn't "the plan" but I'm just curious as we've been getting constant severe weather and storms and I worry the power might go out for a while, which has happened on occasion. And yes, I know generators are a thing too, I'm just inquiring about this possible angle. Athlough, another power failure and I might just buy one anyway.

Yall, I am beyond overwhelmed with all of these stroller options! I originally picked out one that sounded good after some research, but then I realized it’s a “jogging stroller”, and let’s just say your girl is not planning on jogging, like, ever. 😅
All of my friends and family are recommending the Doona, but I’m thinking that only works for them and their lifestyles because they live in the suburbs of Texas where everything is flat and the only walking they’re doing is on paved sidewalks. I live in Colorado where our walking looks more like unpaved trails, mud, snow, and lots of hills!

So my gf and me decided to sell our first house 2 years ago. We bought our first house at 24 years old and had a fairytale idea of buying our house. It was a complete housewreck, which me and my dad and gf would rebuild to a completely renovated house. It took us 5 years when we eventually had enough. We lived under so much stress that it almost cost our relationship and caused lot of stuff to happen in our lives, including job losses and family fights and everything. We had had enough and decided to sell everything with pain in our hearts. We went back to renting a home and were looking forward to experiencing a stressfree live for the first time since 5 years.
Fast forward to now, 2 years in our new home we are planning to move back to our home town because at our new home we’re experiencing a lot of stress because of our neighbours. They’re always so present in every possible way. Music, loud cars drifting, screaming, dogs barking 24/7, it’s driving us crazy. What makes it even harder is the fact that we’re starting an ICSI (sort of ivf) treatment which has us in a lot of stress already.
The thing which makes it so hard for us is the changed housing market in the past couple of years. House prices in/around our home town became sky high which makes it really hard to get yourself in the market. Everytime we had like 20-30k short so we’ve no other chance than to stay here and feeling all stressed out.
Are there ways to gain money so we might be able to fit ourself in het housing market? I understand that there isn’t a 1,2,3 way to becoming a millionaire, but there have to be tips to adding some extra money besides your normal job. I’m desperate to leave and want live a normal life with my gf, diving into our new chapter…

I don’t live in the middle of nowhere, but it is about 10 minutes out of town. I live off of a frontage road, so you just turn off the road main road and into my driveway. I leave very clear instructions on how to find it. “Red house with the red garage. Driveway is on the south side of the house. Look for the white truck 😊” (a literal copy and paste of my description)
Last night, I was doing some DYI on some furniture and was exhausted and it was already 9:30 pm so i decided to DD. The driver drove down my neighbors driveway on accident. I only knew this because I could hear him holding his horn and letting out one looongg honk as he drove up and down their driveway... at 10pm on a Monday.
He then got back on the main road and down the correct driveway, and sat in his car and blared his horn until I came out of my house and he just rolled down his window and held my order out of his driver window despite me requesting contactless delivery and made me walk to his driver door to collect my food

Basically title. I am 25 and I have no work experience outside of 4ish days at mcdonald's like 4 years ago.
I have depression and anxiety (diagnosed) and i suspect autism and adhd as well. I've been trying to find a way to earn money since i was 13. for 12 years I've struggled just getting more depressed in the process. I've decided i really would rather die than spend decades working for some corporation just to survive.
I live with my mother, but we are technically homeless. we sleep in my great grandmother's living room. our car broke down shortly after moving here and we only have my mom's disability that's around 800 a month to live on, but between bills and little treats to keep us alive we haven't been able to save up much, and I recently got hit with a court issued payment for an old credit card that's now taking up an extra $100 of my mom's money every month.
i don't want to die and leave my mother in this shitty situation alone. she's tried so hard my entire life just for me to not be able to meet expectations. I started college courses in high school but i was too depressed so i dropped out in 10th grade and really just kinda dissociated until graduation thinking I'd end up killing myself before then, so i didn't make any actual plans for life. i ended up accidentally sleeping through my SAT timeslot so i just never applied to any colleges. I wanted to get a working certificate but it was like $600 when i graduated and i had no job and no way of getting one, and my mom was at the time struggling to pay our $350 rent cause she herself was disabled with no disability back then.
I'm pretty creative so for a few years i made money doing whatever i could from home, trying to be patient about the "starting a business takes years" thing, but after about 3 years in the most successful thing i tried, the pandemic started and many people started businesses from home in my niche which basically took away the ability for me to stand out and do numbers that had helped me get that far. i kept trying for another year but sales were pretty much nonexistent and i got burnt out trying to keep up the work with no money.
since then I've kinda just been drifting by in life. after burning out while working at home i tried to get a job at mcdonald's which everyone said was a great starter job, but after a week i was left even more burnt out. I hate being around people and having to speak, ehich was so draining. customers are so vile to fast food workers, the bosses treated us like kids (even the ones that had long graduated high school), I am not good being watched or timed so i kept messing up, my bosses would pressure me to take early breaks and on my last day i didn't get a break at all, and every day after work my legs would hurt so bad I'd just sit and cry. i struggled even walking to the bathroom for a month after i quit, i genuinely thought i had done permanent damage to my legs and i had only worked for 4 days (not including the training which i never even got to finish). it was a nightmare and i never want to do that again.
I know I've listed probably way more information than necessary but I'm so desperate. i don't want to die, but if my options are work the rest of my life or end it early, I'm choosing the latter. but before i do that i just want to get my mom into a more stable situation. my grandmother is 91 and once she dies my mom will be on the streets. i don't want that for her. i just don't see any actual solutions.

Am I finally worth something somewhere else? I needed the accounting experience so I took this role and did my best to learn. I love my team and my job. But inflation is crazy in my area. Groceries for just myself are like 100 bucks a week, when they used to only be like 50 at most. Half my paycheck goes to my rent. The rest is for student loans, my car loan and gas. I'd like a bit more money.
Would any of you hiring managers hire me at $80K-90K with this experience?

New York. Been hit by a car a year ago. Lost my job. Alone. Losing my place to live in a few months and whatever energy I got is used to make sure this kid gets a home. BUT I cant cause Glen Cove, Huntington, The Five Fucking Boroughs and every other fucking place won't accept him because he's not in their town?! Even if I can get to them?! I gotta deal with red lining for a surrender?! It's killing me enough that I have to lose my cat. Why does death have to be so fucking slow Calling shelters for weeks and this pain is something else

So a year ago I changed cities for work and bought a new build row home. One of the very first built. Like a quasi-luxury complex. The plans called for 80-110 units.
We absolutely love the home and have zero issues with it. A couple of months ago I was called and told that they plan to change the entire complex. Build the rest “ more economically “ and turn it into a rental only complex. They wanted to buy the place back.
As far as I know there are only a few owners and the developers/builders are holding the other 15. Some were being rented before we ever bought. They then immediately pulled the sale of the rest and started putting up advertisements to rent. And then rented them out.
Large developers in my area, not known for being builders. The developers then started dragging their heels with us. Ignoring calls ect. Took about 6 weeks to get an offer with random conditions. Then when the condition were to be removed they balked again with zero explanation. Then nothing.
Any ideas what they could be doing??
I figure they never wanted to buy then once everything was rented backed out?
Why sign contracts? This makes no sense to us.
Realtor and preliminary conversations with a lawyer show that this is pretty rare and no one really knows what to do?
Can they just fundamentally change plans with the city when some are already sold?
I am imagining that being the only owners in a rental complex isnt great for my property value.
Cars and garbage are already piling up.
They have wasted months of our time. Talking to banks, finding new homes in this market. Its been really unsettling and stressful.
Any recourse at all??

Last Challenge:
I'm curious. ;-) Although I revealed that R5 was in Rhode Island, only four players guessed in that state. Did you just miss it? Or is there a display mode where you only see the challenge link? It's not the first time that I got the impression that players didn't notice clues that I posted in the description.
My map has several locations where you see a sign that you normally don't see in the given state. I tagged these locations in the map making app and remove them before I create a challenge seed. I forgot to tag this location so it stayed in the mix. I decided to keep this seed and reveal the state to show you that there are always exceptions to the rule.
R1: The silhouette of George Washington on the highway sign of Washington. We were somewhere along Interstate I-90 between Seattle and Spokane. We had the town name on the directional sign and the "Welcome to" sign. 10 perfect scores. :-)
R2: Idaho. The US highways are quite easy to find in Idaho. US 20 and US 26 are running in concurrency between Carey and Atomic City. 10 perfect scores. :-)
R3: Virginia. Some players guessed in Oregon. When I realized that Virginia and Oregon have similar highway signs, I used the following mnemonic to remember the correct signs: The sign of Oregon is round at the top, like the O in Oregon. The sign of Virginia is flat at the top, as if the two ends of the V in Virginia were connected with a straight line. I don't know any regionguessing tips for Virginia. 2 perfect scores. :-)
R4: New Jersey. Short reminder: Five states use a plain circle as their standard state highway shield. Delaware, Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi, and New Jersey. Sometimes, New Mexico also has a plain circle, but this sign looks different than the signs in these five states. We saw several cars with yellow NJ license plates. A bit further up the road was the green-yellow sign of the "Garden State Parkway". We were somewhere close to the water. Right next to us was a sign with the name of the bridge ahead of us: "Cape May County Veterans Memorial Bridge". Cape May is the southern most tip of New Jersey. 3 perfect scores. :-)
R5: Rhode Island. With everything I've written here so far, it was impossible to guess the correct state. Therefore I revealed the state. Everybody who was in the correct state also found the correct intersection. We were on the offgoing ramp from US 1. The end of "Kernick Street" on the other side of the highway should have helped to pinpoint. 1 perfect score. :-) Kudos to the two players who found a corresponding intersection in Massachusetts. :-)
