2024.05.21 16:08 Thin_Course7564 want to leave florida
i was born and raised in central florida/orlando area and i'm ready to leave. i lived in el paso texas for 6 months when i was 15 and i LOVED it. i loved the sense of community and smaller city vibe. the condensed city compared to the horrific sprawl of orlando was so refreshing. i also moved to gainesville for 2 years for college and loved the same thing. the sense of community, the public transportation, and the smaller city vibe. i've been back in the orlando area for 2 years now and im losing my mind here.
the traffic is INSANE. it takes me an hour just to get to the other side of town. there is no real dense city center almost anywhere besides orlando and they won't stop building subdivisions. my once rural city has become a breeding ground for dollar generals and car washes. its such a bland life here, i need to be in a new community. everyone is always angry here- im tired of the hostility. i dont feel like anyone in orlando actually "likes" orlando- they were just born here and have never left. the only people that like orlando are the people who are there for the theme parks and i couldn't care less about them.
i'm 22 and most concerned with growth opportunities. i was in grad school to be a mental health counselor but didn't feel ready to have clients so i'm currently a high school substitute teacher which i love but it's only a temporary job. i know i love politics and social services but i dont know much else.
obviously affordability is a concern but i currently spend 60% of my income on rent and make things work so im okay moving somewhere with the same ratio as long as im happier in the area.
i want to move somewhere where the people feel a connection to their city and are proud of it. i want to live someplace with a bunch of community groups/activities. i don't have much to compare to but my grandma lives in seattle and tells me all about all the gatherings and events they have all across the city on almost any given day.
i dont want to move too far away from florida so im mostly considering the upper east coast with the exception of iowa lol
the places i've considered are: - des moines, iowa (SUPER affordable, smaller community vibe, but i dont think there's much room for growth or community building) - maryland - idk where, i just know i appreciate the diversity of large city (DC) and countryside (cumberland) - pennsylvania - all i know is the cost of living is better in comparison to most upper east coast states - virginia- it's pretty there? - chicago- ive heard it's walkable but idk anything else LOL
i really don't know much of anything about these places im considering moving. i was planning on moving next year but my landlord is moving back and has given me 3 months to move. i KNOW i dont want to stay in florida so im taking this as my opportunity to leap and jump into the unknown but with so little time and such little money i cant afford to travel to all of these places and rule them out myself.
please help me with any and all info you can š„ŗ

Frequently Asked Questions: Q: Why is X artist higher than Y artist on the 200 chart, even though X artist sold less?
A: This is because of a discrepancy between Billboard's ranking and the ranking from the website that the sales data is scraped from
Q: Where do you get the sales data from?
A:
https://hitsdailydouble.com/sales_plus_streaming Q: What does "err" mean on the 200 chart?
A: If you are seeing "err", that means that the bot I use to gather chart data couldn't identify sales data for a particular album because of a difference in album naming between Billboard and HitsDailyDouble

2024.05.21 16:05 ThrowRA242342342 Iām a good looking woman in my 30s absolutely broken with loneliness and feel there is no solution
I donāt know what to do. I have tried absolutely everything.
So Iām a woman in my 30s who has a degree, a good enough job and all I do is work, come home, eat alone and loneliness is eating me up.
I have felt this way since I was 23 years old.
I donāt have a community of friends. I have around 3 fairly close people who were from different parts of my life (one an old job, one from high school, one from college) who I see now and then but thereās no intense, talk constantly, I can tell them anything kind of friendship, they are just people I can grab lunch with now and then months apart.
My dating life has been horrendous. I canāt even explain how bad. It makes me feel like Iām this disgusting rat. All 3 friends and family members plus random people Iāve known throughout my jobs and things have all commented on how strange it is that I donāt have a partner and how badly things go for me.
The people I have dated in my past have all treated me very similarly. As in, Iāve never had an amicable breakup that ended nicely. Theyāve all left me feeling awful. Everyone has always been extremely blunt in telling me Iām basically not good enough. Some phrases Iāve heard were: āyou make me feel like I want to get myself backā āI didnāt ever see a future with you and didnāt know why I didnāt tell you this beforeā āyouāre boringā āI understand why your friends and family donāt bother with youā āI just donāt care about youā ā
I donāt drink alcohol and all these people told me at the start it wasnāt a problem for them. But sooner or later they would comment on how nice it would be if I joined them for a wine out on the porch after work or be able to go to a cocktail bar. And they would pressure me into doing it despite my strong stance on just not enjoying it. It almost seemed like everyone I dated was a disguised alcoholic even though they werenāt because that was the topic of a lot of our arguments ā¦ even though I know they werenāt in their ānormal lifeā but just with me alcohol seemed so important that I didnāt do it.
I always came away feeling awful. I have an array of hobbies and find myself interesting - care for animals, reading, hiking, nature, skiing, cycling, I draw, and also write stories - nobody was ever interested in reading any or caring.
Whenever I go out with friends their partnersā¦ care. Itās something I noticed a lot. Theyād text or call and ask for updates. Even when I was in relationships this didnāt happen. Iāve never, EVER had a partner or boyfriend who cared about me. This is not normal and Iāve never felt loved.
Both of my parents arenāt here either and I have a weird relationship with my brother. Heās married with kids and we arenāt close. Iāve tried and again I feel ānot enoughā. He tells me he doesnāt WANT to go on vacations with me because I donāt drink and he likes to go to bars and sip wine at nice places and Iād just not be compatible with him on holiday. He therefore doesnāt ever ask to hang out with me in our own country.
I was only ever close with my mother and miss her so much it hurts. I donāt feel connected with anyone and feel my personality must be so awful that nobody wants me around.
Iāve travelled a lot and even lived in other countries and feel deflated. If I do something pretty cool or a nice achievement I canāt tell anyone. Sure, a couple of my friends might send a nice text but I have nobody to hug, kiss or hype me up. I come home to my empty apartment and just have my own thoughts.
Every date I go on recently is a reflection of my past. People just seem to be super interested in the start, as in.. I have no issues getting matches and getting a good conversation flowing, sometimes even up to three moths of dating but then it ends. The same patterns occur where they suddenly donāt want a serious thing and are gone.
Iām broken making these constant deep connections with strangers only to then feel like I never knew them at all.
Friends have told me in the past I am too nice and fall too hard and people can see this but I donāt get it.
I pour my heart and soul into connections I do make, am sweet and caring and itās never enough for people. Iāve never ever felt anything was ever reciprocated.
Everyone around me has a marriage - a stable, grown adult marriage with house problems and real life stuff, kids or engagements, stuff like that. I want that so much. I want a person to share my life with. I am so tired of being alone and being on this age on apps and going through the same things feeling so unloved and unwanted.
I look around - and this is going to sound judgmental and I donāt mean to be. But I look around at others I knew from school and friends and things and even people who are either not very attractive or even people with horrific personalities (mean, screechy, drama central kind of people) have good loyal husbands and a fairly decent enough life.
I feel like Iāve witnessed multiple situations where people cheat, so awful things and still someone is FIGHTING for someone to stay, fighting for love, somebody is a staple in their life worth it.
For me thatās just exactly what I feel I donāt have. Nobody has ever fought for me. Never cared enough to even go into a serious, letās live together, maybe get married situations. Nobody has ever made effort the way I do. Iām good looking enough, not the most sexy person in the room but get told Iām natural beauty, cute and stuff like that. I try and take care of myself. I have that āsweet shy gentleā type personality and everyone I meet tells me I have such a good heart and soul. I really do everything for people. So I donāt understand.
Iām terrified of this continuing and Iām exhausted. I donāt feel like I belong anywhere. Iām absolutely broken with feeling like my whole life has been loss around me, in terms of death of my loved ones and also loss of people Iāve cared for and wanted something with, loss of friendships that were once more solid and now are casual, just loss of everything.
Like I said Iāve tried travelling, lived in other countries, joined so many hobby groups and clubs, the amount of nights Iāve sat at a random meet up of a social night with a soft drink and chatted and gave it my all for nothing to come of it is hard to remember, Iāve even reached out on social media to old friends from random hobbies and school and nothing comes of anything.
I donāt know what else to do. I enjoy my own company but Iām now at a point where itās depressing me so much. I donāt want this to be my life. I want to go to theme parks with someone and feel alive. I want to book holidays with someone and get excited. I want to pack together and prepare their bags. I want to ask someone about their day. I want to share plans. I donāt want to just come home anymore and stare at a wall. Constantly see people thriving on social media. Have no family at important holidays. Nobody to celebrate things, I feel so empty and not even a part of society when I see the beach packed with people, gifts for sale in stores, etc. itās not for me because I have no one.
I donāt know what else to do. If something cool happens in my day it didnāt really happen because I am literally by myself and have nobody who cares. I feel like other single people still have close friends or a mother or father who is interested, even a community of some sort. But I am literally alone.
Even when I do stuff with friends itās only for an hour or two and Iāll get a taste of what a nice happy life is like, maybe an hour walking along a nice beach or a nice dinner somewhere with people around us then Iām back to being alone when they go back home to their husbands and have a cute night.
I cry everyday and donāt understand this. Iām so envious of people who have tons of people in their life. I never will have that even if I find a partner. But it just kills that even that part doesnāt exist. I canāt even explain how empty I feel. My birthday went by with one text message from one of my close friends and the other two sent one days later saying they forgot and had been busy. Itās like I donāt exist. And Iām terrified and donāt know what to do.

2024.05.21 15:29 The_Better_Devil Moderation Update: Thank you and goodbye
Hey ya'll, it's Devil, your friendly neighborhood mod man again... though I won't be called that for much longer here.
Thank you First of all, from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank each and every one of you. The past few months have been incredibly troubling for us all, but you guys have made it easier to find my way through it. The community and the podcast will always hold a special place in my heart. For three and a half years I have worked as a mod of
FUCKFACEPOD to build a thriving community of comment leavers. In that time we have done incredible things together.
We left our mark on
Place in 2022, we held meetups at RTX, the mod team even tried streaming for Extra Life one year. And when the company was closing down around us, and we moved to a new subreddit, we quickly built a brand new space full of the same joy and humor that defined the old subreddit. However... this will unfortunately be my last stop.
It is with deep sorrow that I tell you all that I have been removed from the moderation team of this subreddit. After three and a half years, I will no longer be a moderator here for subreddit. I am so incredibly proud of this community and how far we have come. I will be forever grateful to the podcast, and to all of you for the memories and the laughter you guys gave to me.
But this isn't goodbye forever. I'll still be hanging around the subreddit as a regular ol comment leaver. I also will continue to moderate for
SoAlrightPod so go check out that place. I will also continue modding for
roosterteeth at least for now, though I do plan on leaving that one soon.
Goodbye To ANEGGG I say thank you. I cannot overstate the impact Rooster Teeth has had in my life. From my very first Achievement Hunter video in 8th grade, to the final episode of the Rooster Teeth Podcast. You guys are what ignited my passion for creating things, and you're what pushed me to pursue a degree in Film. Seeing you guys pop up in the subreddit has always been a joy (Eric's comments are always fucking hilarious) and I was overjoyed when I got to meet some of you at RTX 22/23. Thank you.
To the OG mods of
FUCKFACEPOD I say thank you. Some of you have only been mods for a months before we had to switch subreddits and you all adapted to the change wonderfully. The rest of you have been in the game almost as long as I have. I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to have worked with, nor better friends to accompany me. Thank you.
And finally, to the community I say thank you. I've had some pretty dark moments over the past few years, but being able to come to this subreddit and laugh at whatever random bullshit was happening has always managed to pull back into the light. I say this of not just the F**k Face/Regulation Pod community but for the wider Rooster Teeth community as well. Thank you.
I leave you now with this Spotify playlist I made. Reminiscing Now if you'll forgive me, I'd like to do some reminiscing about my time here:
- January 2021: u/Johnathan_Wickerino, creator of FUCKFACEPOD invites myself and three other mods to help him run the expanding subreddit.
- November 12th 2021: Myself, another mod, and a couple community members host F**kers & Flagons, a DND Extra Life stream. We raise $500.
- April 1st 2022: Place opens it's doors once more. While the Discord server is playing an April Fools prank by rebranding to a Face Jam server, the subreddit is working to build the F**k Face logo on the canvas.
- April 2022: A few weeks after Place, we celebrate the 100th episode of F**k Face.
- June 2022: FUCKFACEPOD Crosses 10,000 members. We celebrate by inviting people to play Halo Infinite. This was originally supposed to be a tournament, but due to lack of participation we just screwed around in custom games for a few hours. Thank you to Andrew Panton for joining us for the occasion.
- July 1st 2022: RTX opens it's doors in Austin for the first time since COVID. Through masks and face shields, we come together as a community once again. One of the other mods Trix hosts a community meetup outside the convention center which Geoff shows up to.
- January 2023: The first draft of many is released. We all gather round to listen to the Falls Draft.
- April 2023: The very first live Sloppy Joes Bingo takes place late at night on RTTV
- July 7th 2023: Nobody knows it yet, but this will be the final RTX. This year is my first and only year as a Guardian. While walking on the convention floor, Eric calls me over and asks me for a pen. As I hand him the pen I tell him who I am. When he's done signing autographs and taking pictures, he hands me a huge stack of baseball cards with his face on them and tells me to do as I will with them. I spend the whole weekend passing them out to people. When I get home I mail the leftovers out to 43 people.
- July 9th 2023: As Trix hosted the meetup last year, I host it this year. This year was thankfully indoors and out of the Texas sun. Two community members come to the meetup with bootleg golden gurplers and start passing them out to people. Another member brings a F**k Face Summer of 98 Yearbook which all of us happily sign.
- December 25th 2023: It is Christmas morning. Christmas has never really meant anything to me since I'm Jewish, but as I look at my phone and see a notification announcing we have hit 20,000 members, I definitely start feeling the Christmas Spirit.
- January 24th 2024: Myself and a few other members of the community play a game of Quiplash 3 using a custom F**k Face themed prompt pack. The video features a special introduction by Andrew Panton, as well as a recorded message by Eric.
- March 6th 2024: If this were to happen one week later I'd be able to make a "Beware The Ides Of March" joke. It is on this day that we learn that Rooster Teeth is being shut down.
- May 11th 2024: After two months of housekeeping and negotiations, Rooster Teeth is finally dead. Many of it's podcasts are now going independent, while others are forced to rebrand.
- Today: Who the fuck knows...

- Phonemic Awareness: Activities focusing on sounds, rhymes, and initial phonics lay the groundwork for reading skills.
- Listening and Comprehension: Worksheets that require following instructions or answering simple questions about a story improve listening skills and comprehension.
- Writing and Fine Motor Skills: Tracing letters, writing names, or drawing lines between related items fosters early writing skills and fine motor control.
Tips for Maximizing the Impact of English Worksheets Tailor Activities to Individual Needs: Customize worksheets to match the developmental level and interests of each child, ensuring that every learner finds the activities accessible and engaging. - Encourage Exploration and Discussion: Use worksheets as a starting point for discussions, encouraging children to ask questions and express their ideas related to the worksheet's theme.

2024.05.21 14:15 ContactMission2893 Advice about Mother
For the longest time, I've struggled with anxiety and low self worth. It's only been up until recent I've realized it's most likely stemming from my toxic relationship with my mother and things she had done to me during childhood.
One particular incident that stands out to me happened when I was 16. Me and my younger brother hadn't gotten along well at all and would fight very often. It grealy affected my mental health and my mother made the decision to let me live with my aunt in Texas. I truly enjoyed my time down there and felt a great improvement in myself and my mental health. A few months ater staying there, going to school, making new friends and being adjusted to life down there, I went to visit my mother for Christmas with the full intention of returning to Texas after about a week. Me and my brother were polite during this break. My mother took this as an indication that there were no longer any issues between us and refused to let me return to my Aunts. Emotionally, it was extremly hard for me, losing my friends down there and also being forced into an environment that was just toxic to my mental health.
There have been other things such as her critiquing my weight as a young middle schooler, being ok with me not eating meals anymore because of the weight I lost, using me as a therapist at times, and her having a rotating list of husbands. My mother has been married 10 times in my entire life span, with me having around 6 different step fathers until I went to college. She has also expressed jealousy whenever I ended up becoming close to one of my stepfathers, going as far as to sit me and my siblings down and explain that the men she married didn't truly care about us but simply wanted to use us to access her.
I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for here, maybe some reassurance. I just want to know what to make of all this. It makes me angry just writing and thinking about it again but I feel so reluctant to say my mother was abusive. What are your thoughts?

2024.05.21 14:13 -She-Beast- Our VOICE, a local nonprofit, addresses sexual harassment in the food and beverage industry.
| Thatās just what itās like working in a bar,ā some say. Others might push it aside for financial reasons ā āDonāt you want more tips?ā But local advocates say addressing sexual harassment and sexual violence is key to preventing it from continuing. Especially in the hospitality industry, where it is prevalent. A 2018 Harvard Business Review study of 76 female college students working in food and beverage service jobs found that more than two-thirds reported experiencing sexual harassment each month of the three-month study. The most frequent behaviors described included being told suggestive sexual stories, offensive remarks and crude, sexual comments. On a Monday afternoon in April, a small group gathered at Avenue M, a restaurant on Merrimon Avenue, to learn strategies to prevent and address sexual harassment in the service industry. The ā86 Itā training, held by Our VOICE, an Asheville-based nonprofit serving survivors of sexual violence and human trafficking, was organized by Asheville Food and Beverage United, a trade group for service workers. āHarassment can include ā¦ unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and other verbal or physical harassment of a sexual nature,ā according to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. However, āharassment does not have to be of a sexual nature and can include offensive remarks about a personās sex.ā Perpetrators and victims can be of any gender. Our VOICE prevention educator Mercy Sosa elucidates the many forms harassment can take in the service industry: female staff encouraged to wear makeup and form-fitting clothing; LGBTQ staff pressed to conform to gender norms in grooming and dress; sexist or homophobic jokes; letting unwanted behavior from guests continue due to the mentality that āthe customer is always right.ā āWe all know [sexual harassment] is something thatās kind of culturally accepted,ā says Miranda Escalante, manager and bar lead for Avenue M and a member of AFBU, in an interview with Xpress. āSo I think it is important for workers to have the tools and feel safe to say āHey, this is not OK.āā She continues, āThere are owners with reputations in our city, unfortunately, and there are places in our city that have these reputations for not being completely safe for their workers.ā Protecting each other ā86 Itā is one of several community trainings offered by Our VOICE. Others include preventing drug-facilitated sexual assault, bystander intervention and preventing sexual harassment in the workplace. Themes of the trainings overlap, and Aprilās ā86 Itā session addressed drug-facilitated sexual assault and how to intervene or interrupt potential harassment or violence. The former can look like drugging, or āroofie-ing,ā a personās beverage, pushing a person to drink more or targeting someone who is already intoxicated, Sosa explains. She notes that assault can still occur if someone has consumed substances consensually. Our VOICE adult prevention educator Allie Stec addresses the ā4 Dsā of bystander intervention: address the behavior directly, distract the parties, delegate or ask for help from someone else and document the behavior. Interrupting behavior can be as simple as telling a worker, āHey, they need you in the backā to separate the individual from a harasser, Stec says. TIME TO INTERVENE Our VOICE prevention educator Allie Stec explains several bystander intervention tactics to interrupt sexual harassment occurring in the food and beverage industry. It can be as simple as one worker saying to another, āHey, they need you in the backā to separate the worker from a harasser, Stec said. Photo by Jessica Wakeman Asheville City Council member Kim Roney, a former food and beverage worker who attended the ā86 Itā training in April, encourages people in positions of power to speak up when they see or hear inappropriate behavior. Cultural setting is an important aspect of addressing sexual harassment in the service industry, Sosa tells the group. Our VOICE suggests a āstrong, well-known policy that covers more than the lawā and established procedures for how to respond to harassment complaints. Sosa also advises frequent discussions about the policy, as well as trainings like ā86 It.ā Unwanted attention Sexual harassment in the form of unwanted attention can come from customers or co-workers, explains Sosa. Either way, unwanted attention needs to be addressed before the perpetrator escalates the behavior to sexual violence. Morgan Persky of Woodfin experienced a lot of unwanted attention and touching when she worked in hospitality at a restaurant for a year. She tells Xpress the harassment began after a few months on the job. The kitchen manager āwould kind of cornerā the female employees and ask them for hugs, which were ātightā and ālingered,ā Persky says. His āhands would be around an arm or back,ā and the women agreed that his hugs felt ācreepy.ā They would try to pivot their bodies to āgo in for a side hug,ā Persky explains. Yet this kitchen managerās lingering hugs were only half the harassment Persky endured. He and some cooks would make comments about her body, both to her directly and talking among themselves. And she says when the kitchen manager hugged her, he would ask, āWhy donāt we hang out? You never want to hang out with me!ā Persky says she never acquiesced. āIām sure I made some kind of excuse, like āIām tired,āā she explains. āI didnāt want to be outright rude, because I was afraid of any consequences. I didnāt know if there would be any.ā The owner of that restaurant was regularly on-site. Persky told him how she was being harassed, and he replied, āYou need to have thicker skin,ā she says. Persky adds that she knew a co-worker came to the owner about sexual harassment by the kitchen manager, too. At that, Persky says, the owner āpanicked.ā āHe was like, āDonāt say sexual harassment! I donāt want to hear that!āā Persky recalls. āāYou canāt go around saying that.āā The ownerās reaction felt as if āhe basically told me to shut up and deal with it,ā she explains. Angry, disappointed and feeling ātrapped,ā she quit the job three weeks later. āI knew it was never going to get better,ā she says. Getting physical Thereās a crucial difference between flirting and sexual harassment, Sosa tells the group convened at Avenue M. Generally speaking, flirting is consensual, and it feels good. Sexual harassment feels uncomfortable or bad, and it happens without the victimās consent. Heather Gressett worked in the service industry from ages 13-30, beginning in Chicago. She says sexual harassment wasnāt discussed in her workplace or in school. As a result, she didnāt recognize sexual violence when it was happening to her. āIt was just so normalized that even I didnāt know it was wrong,ā Gressett explains, adding that so many years in the industry and so many violent experiences may have ādesensitized [me] to a lot of stuff.ā In retrospect, Gressett sees more clearly how co-workers violated her, including when she was a minor. āI was sexually assaulted by so many men,ā she tells Xpress. At 16 years old, a co-worker in his 30s, who was married with kids, pushed her against a wall and kissed her, she says. And at another restaurant, a co-worker followed her into a walk-in refrigerator, turned the lights off and groped her. Gressett says she also engaged in sexual harassment in restaurants by grabbing guysā butts. āWe would all just do it to each other ā it was like a thing.ā Gressett says she cringes when she thinks about her actions now, referring to them as āa trauma responseā or coping mechanism. āIt was almost a way to normalize my own assaults,ā she explains. āIf Iām doing this to other people, itās not so big of a deal, right?ā Seven years ago, Gressett moved to Western North Carolina and worked at several restaurants and breweries here. While she says she saw some problematic behavior ā such as brewery owners who would not call a transgendered worker by their correct name ā sexual harassment wasnāt as extreme in the service industry here as it was in Chicago. āMaybe thereās a shift in me where I was, like, Iām not going to accept this anymore,ā she muses. Gressett also sees younger people in the service industry demanding to be treated with respect and advocating for their rights. As Escalante from AFBU puts it, young folks are no longer tacitly accepting sexual harassment as part of the job that must be endured. And people like Gressett, who experienced sexual violence in the service industry themselves, are motivated to be more responsible bosses than the ones they had. Gressett now runs her own business, Lily Maeās Desserts. Sheās currently the only employee, but sheās dedicated to fostering dignity and respect. āWhen I do have a staff, I want to set an example for how my work culture is,ā she says. āIt starts with me, right?ā submitted by -She-Beast- to asheville [link] [comments] |
2024.05.21 14:02 Soufiane040 Imagine Level 5 chose to do a high school series instead of the Ares/Orion reboot
| All the OG characters would be scattered across Japan in different schools just like the reboot. And they could incorporate the sponsors stuff and the other adult themes of Ares/Orion in a more serious tone They could also take in the challenges of getting older and show more personal relationships. It would work amazing like for example Ben 10 Alien Force which was a great sequel to the original Ben 10 where they were kids I really feel like we got robbed, GO had a 10 year time jump and what happened between is just unknown submitted by Soufiane040 to inazumaeleven [link] [comments] |

2024.05.21 13:30 Ishika2337 The 10 Best Movies Coming to Apple TV+ in May 2024
Apple TV+ is one of the strangest streamers out there, with almost no licensed TV or film content and a small number of originals. That makes the best movies on Apple TV+ easy to find. There simply arenāt that many! Apple is clearly taking a āquality over quantityā approach, with its money spread across genres and targeted at making its subscribers (many roped in with a deal that came with one of the companyās tech products) treat it like a real contender. It also helps that itās only $4.99 a month, or free for a year if youāve just purchased a new (and eligible) device.
With films from up-and-comers like Minhal Baig, arthouse favorites like Sofia Coppola and Werner Herzog, some A-list music docs, one of the best animated movies of the 2020s and Martin Scorseseās latest, Apple TV+ is actually making the case that it belongs in the conversation alongside the more established services. As long as it keeps adding good movies to its roster, that is. It recently snagged a few critical darlings like Killers of the Flower Moon and Wolfwalkers.
10. The Pigeon Tunnel
For a documentary about one of the most celebrated writers of spy fiction, The Pigeon Tunnel can seemāat first glanceādeceptively placid. Clocking in at just over 90 minutes, the film features an extended conversation between David Cornwell, AKA John le Carre, and Oscar-winning docmaker Errol Morris. Itās just that. Two people talking, with Morris off-screen, their parrying question-and-answers broken up with archival images and re-enactments of Cornwellās past, as well as snippets from the classic movies or TV adaptations based on his spy universe: The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and A Perfect Spy.
9. Hala
Writedirector Minhal Baigās Hala is an intimate coming-of-age drama held up by its personal writerly touches and a star-making turn from Geraldine Viswanathan as the title character. Halaās struggling with the same kinds of things we normally see high school characters struggle with: What to do after graduation, how to manage a relationship with her parents thatās not quite adult and not quite childish, and (of course) boys. Viswanathanās understated quiet and the warmth in which the situations are shot (almost always centered on her face)ābe they at a family dinner or a walk in a Chicago park or a reading of a high school English assignmentāmake the dramatic ricochet of Halaās minor rebellion rattle us all the harder.
8. Boys State
The tendency to read too much into Boys State as a representative of American politicsācontemporary, functional, broken and otherwiseādoesnāt quite line up with the event itself, in which every year the American Legion sponsors a sort of mock government sleepaway camp in Texas for high school boys (girls get a similar program of their own), where attendees join parties, run for office, craft platforms, run campaigns, hold debates, then ultimately exercise their right to vote.
7. On the Rocks
Sofia Coppolaās new movie On the Rocks starts out as a story of possessive fatherhood, with Felix (Bill Murray) narrating to his teenage daughter, Laura: āAnd remember, donāt give your heart to any boys. You are mine until you get married. Then youāre still mine.ā The girl laughs off the declaration as a jape, which turns out to be a catastrophic tactical mistake. In her womanhood, Laura (Rashida Jones), does indeed get married to a man, Dean (Marlon Wayans), and they have two beautiful daughters of their own, eldest Maya (Liyanna Muscat) and youngest Theo (Alexandra Mary Reimer).
6. Bruce Springsteenās Letter to You
The black-and-white behind-the-scenes documentary accompaniment to Bruce Springsteenās album of the same name, Bruce Springsteenās Letter to You is a beautiful and companionable tour through the music and its making from an American master. Director Thom Zimny buys into the albumās concept, which focuses on just how long Springsteenās been at this thing. Poignant juxtaposition with archival footage and pictures emphasizes just how long the E Streeters have been at thisāand reminds us of who and what was lost along the way.
Also Read: The Last Duel 5. Fireball: Visitors from Darker Worlds
Werner Herzog will show you multiple clips from Mimi Leaderās Deep Impact for no other reason than because he likes them, he finds them well-done and evocativeāhe says as much in that even-keeled, oddly accented voice overāthen soon after chastise āfilm school doctrineā when complimenting a field video shot by a South Korean meteor specialist in Antarctica. Like Nomad: In the Footsteps of Bruce Chatwin, his documentary from earlier in the year, Fireball (co-directed with Clive Oppenheimer, with whom he made 2016ās Into the Inferno) is less about what itās about (meteorites, shooting stars, cosmic debrisāand the people who love them) than it is about Werner Herzogās life, which is his filmography, which is a heavily manipulated search for ultimate truth.
4. CODA
Sometimes a movie so successfully plunges you into its world that it completely engulfs you in a lived-in experience. From the gorgeous, scenic opening moments of CODA, you can almost smell the Atlantic salt air and pungent scent of the daily catch. The movie transports you to Gloucester, Massachusetts and lovingly drops you into the life of one family. Seventeen-year-old Ruby Rossi (Emilia Jones) is what the title of the movie refers toāa child of deaf adults.
3. A Charlie Brown Christmas
We could get into plenty of arguments over which Charlie Brown animated special is best, but A Charlie Brown Christmas is my favorite pull of the bunch. Charlie Brownās confrontation with the Christmas seasonās commercialism (back in 1965 no less) and a sad little fir tree make this a cartoon classic, as the ultimate funny-pages shlimazel suffers endless social indignities (no Christmas cards) and the holiday blues.
2. Wolfwalkers
Wolfwalkers is filmmaker and animator Tomm Mooreās latest project out of Cartoon Saloon, the animation studio he co-founded in 1999 with Paul Young, and the capper to his loosely bound Irish folklore trilogy (begun with 2009ās The Secret of Kells and continued with 2014ās Song of the Sea). At first blush, the film appears burdened with too much in mindāchiefly thoughts on everything from English colonialism to earnest portraiture of Irish myths, the keystones of Mooreās storytelling for the last decade.
1. Killers of the Flower Moon
Martin Scorsese has made a career telling stories that tackle issues of justice, retribution and betrayal. From his overt and poetic crime films, through to his dark comedies, religious parables and character pieces, he has long been drawn to stories where the ambiguities of life collide with the complexities of survival, and where day-to-day choices result in consequences sometimes obvious, and sometimes far more subtle and insidious.

2024.05.21 13:29 Sumdak Help concerning neural networks and it's use
Hi guys, sorry to bother you about this, but I have a school project due in about 2 weeks, I coded a small Texas Hold'em (Poker) and the goal is to create an AI able to give a number of chips to bet knowing the bet of previous players, bets on flop, river, turn, as well as known cards. But now I have no idea how to use TensorFlow, let alone how to get a result from the neural network. From what I've understood, it will return a real number, depending on the activation function, but what should I do to get the number of chips to bet? For example, if I get something between 0 and 1, should I multiply it? I hope some of you will be able to help me, I'm open to DMs and I could send my code if it could provide some clarification. I'll comply with whatever is asked of me if you can help me, no problem.

But when I found it online again I just had to pick it up and I donāt regret it.
Taking place in the near future hover cars have taken over the world utilising magnetic technology to sit roughly a foot of the ground. Now hover car racing is the premier sport of the world and thatās when our protagonist, 14 year old Jason Chaser enters the fray with his 12 year old borderline autistic Brother, The Bug (his actual name and he is described as borderline autistic).
The two are a power duo with Jason being the daredevil who can expertly fly the car and the Bug being a mathematical whizz making him perfect as the navigator.
As a racing nerd I was able to give it some leeway but also some criticisms.
For one, all safety regulations are thrown out the window with the only safety coming from the racing circuits end being ādead zonesā which catch the cars if they go too far of track. But arenāt present everywhere. The hover cars are fitted with reinforced cockpits and assumably a roll cage with an ejection seat on the side. However the tracks seems to make the sport more dangerous by adding things like ādemag stripsā which remove power from the mag drives (the things that make the cars float and move, essentially the tyres of the new era) which make the cars crash out most of the time past the speed of sound. Then there are occasionally extra hazards such as a āmeat grinderā which is a tunnel that closes in on the driver until only the cockpit can fit. Now as a racing nerd, the governing body of most Motorsports, the FIA would NEVER allow this at 300 KM/H, let alone 800!
What I did love about the book was the use of racing terms, being Motorsport is underrepresented in fictional media I loved seeing terms like hairpin and apex being thrown into the fray and it was great! Another thing I loved was the characters, the good guys were well thought out and had some great character development. Now the bad guys are comically evil, and this isnāt a bad thing given the demographic, spoiler >!i.e a race fixing bookkeeper or a Frenchman named Fabian who uses dirty tactics Now being the book was made for younger kids it was way below my reading level and I saw all the twists coming, this isnāt a complaint per-se because I was reading the book to tie up a loose end more than anything but it was still an enjoyable read and I do recommend it to you if you want to turn off most of your brain and enjoy the vroom vroom of hover cars! Itās also a great book for younger kids if you ignore the swearing (shit being the worst word) as it gives some good life lessons!

2024.05.21 12:55 chanma50 'Hit Man' Review Thread
I will continue to update this post as reviews come in.
Rotten Tomatoes: Certified Fresh
Critics Consensus: A deceptively dark thriller that's also loaded with laughs,
Hit Man is an outstanding showcase for leading man Glen Powell -- and one of the most purely entertaining films of Richard Linklater's career.
| Score | Number of Reviews | Average Rating |
All Critics | 96% | 81 | 8.30/10 |
Top Critics | 93% | 27 | 8.00/10 |
Metacritic: 82 (21 Reviews)
Sample Reviews: āHit Manā is studded with delicious moments, but as amusing as the movie is it has a plot that sprawls forward in a rather ungainly fashion, and it goes on for too long. - Owen Gleiberman, Variety
Smart and steamy screwball fun. - Leslie Felperin, Hollywood Reporter
The comedy is a deliriously entertaining star vehicle for actor Glen Powell. - Ben Croll, TheWrap
āHit Man,ā Linklaterās latest film, falls into the fun-with-a-heart (and brain) category. Itās got a lot going for it. For one thing, thereās Linklaterās deft touch, particularly when juggling comedy and romance (with a little crime drama thrown in).
4/5 - Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona Republic
A smartly written, sublimely comedic, and sexy human-scale relationship story with a touch of just enough suspense and hints of criminality to prove that its title is not a complete misnomer.
4/5 - Cary Darling, Houston Chronicle
In the hands of a lesser director, Hit Man would surely have felt rather thin and disposable. But Linklater is a pro, and he manages to make the filmās fripperies feel borderline profound.
4/5 - Xan Brooks, Guardian
An intelligent comedy that contains plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and references Kant and Nietzsche, it is also a thriller that is darker than it first appears. - Jo-Ann Titmarsh, London Evening Standard
Hit Man trips along on great writing, Linklaterās witty, light-touch direction and a rich sense of place, but what makes it especially pleasurable is Powell and Arjonaās naturally steamy rapport.
4/5 - Robbie Collin, Daily Telegraph (UK)
... An effervescent comedy from Richard Linklater that simultaneously snubs its nose at the entire genre while easily nabbing the honour of most purely entertaining film to grace the Lido so far.
4/5 - Kevin Maher, Times (UK)
Another, crueller writer-director would have pivoted to scenes of bloody violence, but Linklater prefers to ponder the question of whether you can will yourself into becoming a different person.
4/5 - Nicholas Barber, BBC.com
A sorta-true story about an average guy who finds himself caught in a web of crime and deception, Hit Man is a cute and clever (sometimes overbearingly so) showcase for Powellās magnetic charm. - Richard Lawson, Vanity Fair
The police scenes are just light enough to be funny, the screwball sequences are just dark enough to keep you on the edge of your seat, and Powell... is obviously elated to be handling such twisty material. - Shirley Li, The Atlantic
This genial comedy/noir is a genuine crowdpleaser ā funny, sexy, clever and confident in building a low-key humour which hits the target over and over again. - Fionnuala Halligan, Screen International
Itās a genuinely riotous time at the cinema and concrete proof Powell is perhaps our brightest hope when it comes to keeping the notion of the movie star alive. - Hannah Strong, Little White Lies
Hit Man is hot and hilarious, a winning combination amplified by a story that gets knottier at every turn. - Nick Schager, The Daily Beast
Powellās ability to power through some dull material on charm alone only reaffirms the credibility of his stardom, and the filmās general lack of ambition keeps things from going awry whenever a joke doesnāt land. Aim small, miss small.
B- - David Ehrlich, indieWire
Iās just fun to watch good old-fashioned comedy in which love, danger, and happy endings are all part of a damn fine evening at the movies. - Alissa Wilkinson, Vox
With Richard Linklaterās Hitman, the charismatic Glen Powell has been offered a plum opportunity to shape his image into something more complicated and often poignant.
3/4 - Zach Lewis, Slant Magazine
[A] light-and-lively comedy. - Jordan Hoffman, The Messenger
Comfortably Linklaterās best movie since Boyhood, Hit Man stands alongside School of Rock for big laughs and good vibes ā albeit with a darker streak that slowly kicks in.
4/5 - Philip De Semlyen, Time Out
Powell and Linklater would have done better to take Johnsonās story as a launching point and then spun off into their far more complicated version of his life without literally tethering the movie to a real person. - Alonso Duralde, The Film Verdict
Linklater has long had a gift with playful humor, and he nails the tone here without turning āHit Manā into the slapstick it could have become. - Brian Tallerico, RogerEbert.com
A comedy/thriller thatās in equal parts charming, nerve-wracking, and ethically challenging. - Glenn Kenny, RogerEbert.com
Every interesting aspect of the true story and the imagined story are smoothed out. - Drew Gregory, Autostraddle
The smoldering, wily, wild-but-true Hit Man returns Linklater to his loquacious take on romance, with a man using his gift of gab to shrug off himself. - Charles Bramesco, Inside Hook
A witty, relaxed, and cheerfully fictionalized comedy-caper-romance; in the bargain thereās some light philosophical meditations on the impermanence of personality. 4/4 - Ty Burr, Ty Burr's Watch List
Itās as if Linklater is playing posthumous wingman for his subject, giving him the rom-com-slick Hollywood ending he never got in life. - Keith Uhlich, (All (Parentheses))
SYNOPSIS: Oscar-nominated director Richard Linklaterās sunlit neo-noir stars Glen Powell as strait-laced professor Gary Johnson, who moonlights as a fake hit man for the New Orleans Police Department. Preternaturally gifted at inhabiting different guises and personalities to catch hapless people hoping to bump off their enemies, Gary descends into morally dubious territory when he finds himself attracted to one of those potential criminals, a beautiful young woman named Madison (Adria Arjona). As Madison falls for one of Garyās hit man personas ā the mysteriously sexy Ron ā their steamy affair sets off a chain reaction of play acting, deception, and escalating stakes. Co-written by Linklater and Powell and inspired by an unbelievable true story, Hit Man is a cleverly existential comedy about identity.

2024.05.21 12:40 Gangiskhan Artist #100 Pretty Lights
Bio from The Festival Voice Artist Biography by Daniel Karasek
Pretty Lights is a music project out of Colorado started by Derek Vincent Smith. He started making hip-hop in high school and dropped out of college during his freshman year at the University of Colorado at Boulder to pursue a career in producing music. Derek released his debut album in 2006 titled Taking Up Your Precious Time under the moniker Pretty Lights. He toured on this album supporting STS9, the Disco Biscuits, and Widespread Panic. By 2010, Derek had released two more albums and had toured major festivals including Coachella, Ultra, Movement, and Electric Zoo. The next year he created his Pretty Lights Music imprint to release albums by Michal Menert, Gramatik, and Eliot Lipp. In 2012, Derek started working on Pretty Lightsā fourth album, which featured drummer Adam Deitch, Souliveās Eric Krasno, the Harlem Gospel Choir, and members of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and the Treme Brass Band. The idea behind the album was to capture a vintage sound while making it sound like what Pretty Lights had been known to produce. The resulting album, A Color Map of the Sun, was nominated at the 2013 Grammy Awards. The Hidden Shades EP came the following year featuring remixes and B-side tracks. Later in 2014, Derek moved to New Orleans to form a band he called Pretty Lights Live. This lineup toured for a few years with some Red Rocks shows included on the tour. Then, Derek fell off the map and became a whisper in the music community. He had to get himself sorted out with rumors of substance abuse being what stole him from the world and his fans. Then, after five years and a global pandemic, Derek rose from the ashes with Pretty Lights Live, featuring Alvin Ford Jr. on drums, Borahm Lee on keys, Michal Menert on guitar, and turntablist Chris Karns. The band toured in 2023 to sold-out venues across the country. Their live show now features drones, Lidar-crafted visuals, and free live streams that are available on YouTube.
To give a very simplified overview of how their set works, Derek acts as a conductor of sorts for all the other band members. Each member plays their instruments as a jam band and feeds in their audio to Derek. Derek then live mixes these sounds with a custom modular synthesizer to create what comes out of the PA systems at a show. Additionally, Derek will incorporate his own noise into the mix as well. While all this is going on, there are Lidar sensors onstage that are taking live 3-D mappings of the stage and sometimes the crowd and venue. On the screens behind the band, they project these mappings for visuals during the show. Oh, and they have a ton of lasers that light up the sky. And if that wasnāt enough, the rumor for Bonnaroo is that there will be a drone show above Pretty Lights on Thursday. Iāve seen what drones can do while I was at the Texas Eclipse Fest this year. It will be the best show of their 2024 tour.

2024.05.21 12:08 nielspeterdejong Thematic Idea: Grant starting clerics and oracles the option to choose a Starting Magic Staff
So I'm a big fan of Goblin Slayer, and how the series is pretty much a lovesong to old school Dungeons & Dragons. And what I liked was the idea that some clerics from more peaceful gods started out with a blessed staff to help with their spellcasting. So in Pathfinder terms, her staff was her Divine Focus, necesarry for her spells to be used. Which honestly is already plenty thematic.
However, I looked up what would be closest to a "magic beginner staff", and the description of Staff of Blessed Relief fitted the theme the most:
https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/staves/staff-of-blessed-relief which has the following description: "This simple wooden staff is given to young clergy when they first set out into the world to spread the charity of their faith." However, this staff costs a wopping 7200 gold, so its description does not seem to match the theme that it is trying to convey.
So I had been considering an idea that might be fun for starting clerics and oracles: Namely grant them the option to start with a "Staff of Mercy" (see below), however in exchange they start with only 40 gold. This way players will also be able to play into the whole "divine healer with her magic staff" theme.
Staff of Mercy: Starting Cleric or Oracle only. This quarterstaff can be used as a Divine Focus by its wielder. Provided its wielder has at least 1 Rank in both Heal and Knowledge (planes), she gains the benefit (and limitation) of the Healer's Hands (Conduit) feat without actually needing to have that feat. If its wielder already has the Healer's Hands (Conduit) feat, she can instead add her Wisdom or Charisma modifer (whichever is higher) to the amount of hit points she restores when treating deadly wounds, which stacks with the additional hit points she restores when her Heal check exceed the DC of Treat Deadly Wounds by 5 or more. If the staff's wielder is an Oracle, she can use her Charisma modifier instead of her Wisdom modifier when using the Heal skill. The staff's wielder only gains these previously mentioned benefits while not wielding a shield.
By spending 7200 gp as part of a ritual she can grant this staff the benefits of a Staff of Blessed Relief in addition to its original benefits, as if she had the Craft Staff (Item Creation) feat.

2024.05.21 11:42 Snoopysnakes AITAH for ācheatingā on someone online that Iām not in a relationship with
For context, I (19) live in New Zealand, and the friend (18), who I will call T, lives in Texas. So obviously there is some distance between us.
We have been friends since late 2021 when we met in an insanely toxic and traumatising discord server and I have been sure that I was 100% there for him as he struggles a lot with mental health. And over the years as we got closer we somewhat developed romantic feelings for each other, even āfake datingā at one point. But I never thought it was that serious. Though I probably didnāt help in this case as I sometimes made gestures that could be seen as romantic such as making playlists and sending him handmade gifts. We both agreed and told each other that if it wasnāt for the distance we would be together.
Recently though, I have started uni and moved into uni halls, and with that I have started regularly hooking up with someone. And because me and T werenāt official or anything and I didnāt think it was a big deal, I somehow let it slip in a conversation. Itās not like I was really keeping it a secret from him at all. This really upset him though and this combined with some other things have caused friction in our friendship. And we are on sort of a break.
I do love him and donāt want to hurt him, but I also donāt want to put my life on hold for someone who is half the world away and is too mentally ill that he is in and out of mental hospitals and cannot complete school, let alone get a job so the chance of us ever meeting each other is slim to none. I donāt want to upset him too much because he might hurt himself and it feels like I am walking on eggshells.
Any advice or comments are greatly appreciated

This is the daily discussion, so anything stocks related is fine, but the theme for today is on technical analysis (TA), but if TA is not your thing then just ignore the theme.
Some helpful day to day links, including news:
Technical analysis (TA) uses historical price movements, real time data, indicators based on math and/or statistics, and charts; all of which help measure the trajectory of a security. TA can also be used to interpret the actions of other market participants and predict their actions.
The main benefit to TA is that everything shows up in the price (commonly known as "priced in"): All news, investor sentiment, and changes to fundamentals are reflected in a security's price.
TA can be useful on any timeframe, both short and long term.
