I started this show the other day and absolutely loved it. What a thrilling sci-fi with real attention to scientific and historical detail, as well as memorable characters—a rare combination. After shows like Man in the High Castle, Person of Interest and Travelers, I’d missed this kind of television. I watched all of S1 in a single weekend.
Then I started S2 and it’s… different.
As early as the first episode of S2, I noticed something was off when Ed gave his ham-handed plot expose to the astronaut candidate. And when Margo said “It’s traveling at 30% speed of light. Which is really freaking fast.” Like come on, everyone in mission control should already know that!
I loved S1 for its creative vision, care for its characters, and trust in its audience not to need things dumbed down.
S2 feels nothing like that. Instead it feels like a Shondaland clone—an attractive ensemble in [insert setting] with endless drama and soapy dialogues, and the occasional [insert cool scene] thrown in to remind us of the setting.
So far it’s such a disappointment coming from S1. I saw there’s 4 seasons of this, with a fifth to come. Does it get better?

Gameboy Enhanced Firmware v0.5 for M5Stack Cardputer More than twice the FPS and Custom Controls, 12 Colour and Super Game Boy modes.
I've been eager to reach this point; when I can say that I have met my original goals when I started working with this firmware approx 2 weeks ago. Customizable controls, savegames, no memory limitations save for the cost in performance. A slew of other features I couldn't help but implement along the way too. v0.5 is now live on m5burner.

I've spent the time avoiding the user interface work I finally did yesterday, instead optimizing the rendering and memory subsystem to get more than twice the performance of my last announced release(v0.48). Super Mario Land 2 and Donkey Kong Land show more than a 100% improvement in frame rates (17fps -> 53fps in the overworld for super mario land 2)

Some more options; custom palette, performance related things
debug w/ Pokemon, figure out why it restarts the firmware
about information screen crediting Matteo Forlani for concept implementation; any one else who ends up contributing.
And in the would be nice category:
Wifi link-cable; I doubt it would get much use but the hooks for it all appear to be present in peanut_gb.
Custom borders (I wont sacrifice ram for this, but I could stream it from the sdcard, it is not redrawn during normal gameplay)
Any other ideas? If there are any pixel artist out there, there is room in the ROM for a cardputer themed border and I'm more than willing to entertain submissions in that area as well, with full credit of course going to the author(s).

* Reimplemented memory subsystem to use progressive partial page seeking/pruning; the original memory management code was the first I had typed in 14 years; after some thought I devised something much more suitable for a real time environment. This resulted in the average page seek time being much lower, and distributes maintenance of the paging system across successive calls. The results are the largest improvement to speed to date. Over double the frame rates from before; less stutter, smoother page transitions in memory. Donkey Kong Land averages around 45fps now; Super Mario land 2 gets an average 53fps on the overworld.

* Reduced rendering workload 6.25% by modifying peanut_gb to inherently skip lines that aren't visible due to scaling.
This prevents the engine from having to process the layer and sprite data for these lines all together. Why 6.25%? because 9 lines are skipped which is 6.25% of the lines that were rendered previously.

* Fixed bug in main menu causing selection to only move upward; you can now navigate properly again.
* added FPS display while Fn button is held, causes slow down which is subtracted from the FPS display. This is so I can evaluate performance improvements more than anything else, but it doesn't hurt to have so I'm leaving it in.
* new borders are on hold while I make decisions about the internal format (leaning towards argb1555,presently 565)

14.05.2024 v0.48 Added 12 colour mode, with the 12 palettes the game boy colour could apply to old game boy games as the first of this mode, but more to come in this area.
*Super gameboy support added for screen borders with gameboy skin set as default, followed by 1 (for now) of the official borders from the hardware itself. Activate by holding Fn and pressing '[' and cycle borders by holding Fn and pressing ']'. Because these are the same keys used for other visual modifications, I hope using the combination of Fn and these keys is intuitive.
* Super gameboy palette support added for balloon kid, the legend of zelda links awakening and kirbys pinball land
* Various other small tweaks you probably wont notice.
12.06.2025 V0.47 Added first iteration of Super Gameboy Mode with all 32 official palettes that were included with the original hardware. Nintendo included a table on the device to map certain games to certain palettes, and that functionality is partially implemented. Mario 1/2/Wario Land, F1 Racer and Tetris all autodetect and assign their colour scheme. This mode can be toggled on and off at any time during play with the '[' button, and the current cycle palette button will cycle through the 32 included palettes. Games with defined profiles with start with that palette selected automatically when Super Gameboy Mode is engaged for the first time each session.
*Lots of user interface changes; message boxes will appear to describe your palette selections, among other things - no console style debug remains in normal operation.
*Another 4k of memory allocated to ROM storage, may smooth out some edge cases of stuttering.
*Improved readability in the main menu; and made highlighted selection more apparent.
*Added smooth transitions to splash screen.
*Disabled unused (for the moment) configuration file

Huge performance improvements for larger ROMs with over 110k more ram available to the memory sub-system. Palette values are from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_console_palettes for accuracy.
10.05.2024:: 0.41 added savegame support. if a game uses it's onboard ram constantly though, use the manual backup button (=). The save feature will only automatically engage after the cartridge ram has been left untouched for a second.
08.05.2024: v0.4 forked from gb_cardputer, added memory management subsystem (paging) to manage random access to roms of any size the filesystem supports.
Yellow bars on either side of the display momentarily indicate that the cartridge ram has been backed up. The savegame format will not be changing, its a simple binary dump.

2024.05.21 12:56 BlacksmithPristine88 I often get problem with raid or rarer other event not spawning on Cassandra but I never get any specify error i debug log, maybe someone with better knowledge could look at my debug log and my mod list and give some clou what is causing the problem

I don't know what I can do anymore, as i get the bug whit raid not spawning really often without any error or clue, I is hard to test whit different mod list because i take a long time to tested. Maybe there are some more obvious problem on my mod list that someone better informed cloud spot? if something i deleted my user folder and content folder on steam and download everything again.

2024.05.21 12:55 BlacksmithPristine88 I often get problem with raid or rarer other event not spawning on Cassandra but I never get any specify error i debug log, maybe someone with better knowledge could look at my debug log and my mod list and give some clou what is causing the problem

I don't know what I can do anymore, as i get the bug whit raid not spawning really often without any error or clue, I is hard to test whit different mod list because i take a long time to tested. Maybe there are some more obvious problem on my mod list that someone better informed cloud spot? if something i deleted my user folder and content folder on steam and download everything again.

Hello all. I recently read a fic and it inspired me to write up a drafting of a similar premise and I wanted assistance in making a couple decisions.
The fic I read’s basic premise was that a member of house reyne survived the rains of castamere and fled north, taking refuge with the Stark’s of winterfell. The girl was betrothed to Jon snow and would become a house sworn under the starks (the fic was only one chapter, but I liked the premise and so wrote up notes of my own.
The question I have is this, if this were to have happened and Jon snow was bethrothed to the last scion of house reyne (nevermind the reasonings to justify such a thing) what land/castle would they most likely be allowed to claim and rebuild. I’ve heard arguments for a lot of the castles such as sea dragon’s point or queens town, and while Jon snow alone I could agree to such, with a house as proud/rich as the reyne’s tacked on for size, which would they most likely be willing to settle for?
(This is with the assumption they could smuggle enough gold as they need for whatever castle needs building/rebuilding/expanding, so no suggestions would be turned away)
I can imagine Ned not wanting to give away most Cailin to a foreign house, but they would have enough gold to rebuild it to its former glory, and they would essentially be marrying into a new house (no way would Tywin accept the reynes surviving, and would work to destroy the house as best he can) with Jon being the lord.
Queens crown on the other hand might be easier to sell to Ned, but it’s such a small keep with poor lands that I don’t see the reyne’s accepting such a place without a lot of concessions.
Sea dragons point doesn’t have any castles that I know of, so that could be a good place for a new castle and town/city, a sort of western version of white harbor and Newcastle.
I’m not aware of any named ruins other than those, so suggestions would be appreciated.
Also, for reasons of plot, I would prefer a castle on the western half of the north, or at least accessible from the western side via rivers and such, like most Cailin. (As in accessible to the ironborn).

Vanilla is a good time. Always ran with mods since probably my original run, but it’s refreshing not to cheat lol
Plan was to go BoS, but after actually getting into settlement building, setting up routes between locations, looting everything on missions (thank you strong back) and dropping off the components, afterwards, to the supply chain- I was surprised at how fun being a Minute Man is. 358 settlers across all my builds lol its crazy.
With all of that, i figured i might as well go for the MM ending, keeping all factions but the institute alive. The raid on the castle was bad ass they stood no chance. Two artillery cannons and i definitely wasnt shy on using the smoke grenades. Both Ada and Codsworth were posted there, both fuckin crazy ass death machines

Blackmont is a harsh place. A lonely castle high in the Red Mountains, it has long been a haven to raiders and mystics alike, home to an ancient dynasty, perhaps less infamous than the likes of the Wyls, but perhaps no less ruthless. It was here that Deziel Blackmont grew up. His mother, Lady Allyria, came from another age, a violent time when the Blackmonts terrorized The Reach, and at times were terrorized in turn by vengeful Reachmen. She was an expert in the ways of war, someone who knew the backways of the mountains inside and out. And while it seemed her son might grow up in more peaceful times, she had no desire for her oldest child to be soft.
From a young age, Deziel, Dez to his friends, took well to his family's teachings. From his mother and from his father, a scion of House Toyne, he learned a fast-paced, uniquely Dornish style of fighting with short swords and long knives, of moving lightly in the wilderness and of doing whatever he had to do to survive. Chivalry was for fat Reachmen who struggled to mount their fancy horses. If you needed to kick your opponent in the balls and then stab him with a hidden dagger, then you kicked him in the balls and stabbed him with a hidden dagger. Those were the rules of the Red Mountains.
But while Deziel was gifted as a fighter, growing up strong and fast and sparring with Dorne's finest, his true love was the wilderness itself. He was a soft-spoken lad who often preferred his own company, and even as a young boy he would wander far and wide alone, sometimes for days at a time, adventuring and exploring, hunting and hawking his own food and learning to find water in the harshest drylands. Out there, under the hard sun and cold stars, he felt wholly at peace.
As time went by, Deziel would take to the mountains more and more often, for life in the castle was growing more complicated. His mother had begun pressuring him to find a wife, but Deziel quite simply did not want one. He preferred the company of men, something that was less of a problem here in Dorne than it might have been elsewhere, but still presented certain issues. Mother wanted grandchildren, and Deziel wasn't interested in giving her any. He tried his best, he truly did, but no Dornish girls caught his fancy. He wandered the region, seeking beauty, and found it, but also found confusion. Always he found himself back in the mountains and deserts, the places where he felt closest to the divine, looking at the sky and wondering why the Gods had made him this way.
In time he found his voice. He fought in skirmishes with bandits and rebels, the kind of fiends who always haunt the backways of the Red Mountains, even in peaceful times. He killed his first man, then another and another. Bringing death haunted him, but paradoxically it made him more confident, more sure of his skills and himself.
While he's still an introvert, he's learned to speak out when he has to. He loves his mother, but sometimes his younger siblings need protecting from her venom. But he's also done his best to meet her halfway, as one does for those one loves. Hence why he's at this stupid fancy hunt. He'd never have come here, if he had his way, but such is life. Hunt yourself a buck, she tells him, and a maiden while you're at it. Deziel is more than a bit skeptical, but who can say?
The Blackmonts, on the whole, are not at home in this new Dorne, this new world, a world of opulent prosperity and the distant but ever-looming threat of dragonfire. But their particular skills, quick blows and flashing blades, are skills that never do go wholly out of style in Westeros, and perhaps they'll yet come in handy in the years to come.
