Help choosing my first barefoot shoe
Hi! I've been meaning to buy a barefoot shoe for quite some time now. But since I'm from Argenitna shipping them is very difficult and expensive (the only brand avalible locally is Saguaro, but the prices are so high that it is almost cheaper to import them).
Because of this I need something that is as durable as possible under $70. I would just use them for the gym daily, mind you, on exercises that may involve stretching and bending them a lot. (+ walking/running to and from the gym, around half an hour total). Ideally I would want them to last some years, even if it's not in perfect condition, just usable (pic attached of my previous shoes, for reference: the only thing that made them "unusable" to my criteria would be the hole in the last photo). Also, I have no problem with normal shoes, I just enjoy walking barefoot a lot. But because of this I don't mind sacrificing some aspects such as a narrower toe box if it means a better overall shoe.
From the real brands, the only ones I saw on my price range were some Merrell Vapor Gloves, more specifically this ones: https://www.amazon.com/Merrell-Vapor-Glove-4-Green/dp/B07TZVM6YG/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
https://www.amazon.com/Merrell-Vapor-Glove-Trail-Runnedp/B01MZBW0BA/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 The problem is that I read A LOT of complains about their durability. Is it really that bad? Mi concern is that the main problem seems to be holes in the mesh, which is how mi previous shoes became unusable. And also... ¿Is there an alternative? I looked into ripoff brands. I see people very happy with Saugaros and Withins, with the latest one in particular being remarked for their "duarbilty". But are they really durable or is just people hyping them because they are cheap? Take into account that with the shipping they become almost as expensive as the merrells, the only ones where there is a noticable difference are the TSLAs (I also consider them).
¿Are any of this viable given my case? Remember, in my case buying them is really a compromise, I can't just return them that easily and all of them imply a subtantial amount of money. Am I better of just avoiding barefoot shoes for now given my situation? What about those "barefoot" water shoes like the one from aliexpress? I know those are not as good or strictly barefoot, but they are MUCH MORE affordable.

2024.05.21 18:55 MisterReuben [WTS] bro price modded Zaan (cursed)

The cursed zaan: https://imgur.com/a/89917pq Timestamp: https://i.imgur.com/kdLPywS.jpeg
So this zaan may be cursed... I posted it the other day and withdrew it shortly after posting. I got lowballed on it and decided to wait until the next knife arrived in the mail to choose if i should sell. Apparently the knife gods didn't like that. The next day I carried it to work and somehow some pitting appeared on the blade.
I work at a bar so I have no idea what could've caused this. I use my knife mainly to cut open liquor boxes, and i certainly dont purposefully expose it to chemicals or acids that could do this to magnacut. I can't for the life of me pinpoint what moment this could have happened.
I know I took it out of my pocket at one point in the shift and saw a black stain on the blade. I went to wipe it off and most of it came off minus this spec, which I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't rub off. "Surely some flitz will take care of that" I thought, as I put it back in my pocket and didn't pay it mind. I got home and hit it with flitz only to realize it wasn't something stuck to the blade, but rather there's two tiny pits formed in the metal.
Hopefully this is something CRK could cover in their warranty services.
So here it is again, at a reduced price to reflect this, to appease the knife gods.
Knife is a drop point Umnumzaan in Magnacut with a 06/27/23 DOB
Upgrades include a Pop's custom deep carry clip, geared backspacer from fastlt1nos on ig and vapor honing performed on the clip, scales and backspacer by Tom Jordan of Chris Reeve Knife Mods on Fb.
Condition other than the blemish discussed above is good. Knife was carried regularly for the past 2 months but barely shows signs of it, a few snails on the pocket clip. The edge was mirror sharpened prior to my ownership, and I have stropped it sporadically to maintain the edge but it can use a touch up if you want it razor sharp.
I disassembled to clean and lube everything including polishing the washers which has resulted in fantastic, broken in action.
Includes box, papers, stock clip, extra stock hardware, loctite and grease but no rag.
Price: Asking $400 OBO shipped to CONUS.
PayPal F&F with no notes.
No trades Please.
Kindly reach out with any questions.
If no one takes it at this price I will gladly keep it as a poop knife.

As a reviewer, I've been using the Red-Dot CCB 1-Gang RT Blank Cover in my daily life for a few weeks now, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for me. One of the features that stood out for me is the die-cast construction and industrial design, which offers a rugged, protective enclosure for my devices.
The clean cover edges provide excellent gasket sealing, keeping my wiring devices and electronic components safe from dust, moisture, and other potential hazards. I also appreciate the precision cast and machined surfaces that allow me to safely pull wires without damaging any components.
However, there's one downside I've noticed - it can be a bit tricky to mount the cover using the convenient mounting lugs, especially if I'm working in tight spaces. Despite this minor inconvenience, the Red-Dot CCB 1-Gang RT Blank Cover has been a reliable and effective solution to keep my wiring devices and electronics protected in a variety of situations.

As a sneaker enthusiast, I recently tried the Nike KD 13 'University Red' in men's size 10. The moment I slipped my foot into the shoe, I felt the comfort of the synthetic upper material. The rubber sole with a flat heel was perfect for my outdoor workouts. The round toe and full-length Zoom Air unit provided an excellent fit and responsiveness.
The shoe's standout feature was the all-over graphic print inspired by hip-hop culture. The metallic gold Swoosh branding added an opulent touch. However, I found that the design made the shoes a bit flashy for my everyday casual wear.
Overall, the Nike KD 13 'University Red' is a durable, stylish, and comfortable sneaker. While the graphic print might not be for everyone, the shoe's performance and comfortable fit make it a solid choice for those who appreciate eye-catching design.

🔗Hardwired Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector with AA Battery Backup

I've been using the Kidde Code One hardwired smoke and carbon monoxide detector in my home for a few months now. It's a reliable safety device that's been working smoothly. The photoelectric sensor detects visible fire particles, perfect for detecting slow smoldering fires. I also appreciate the electrochemical carbon monoxide sensor that uses an 85-decibel alarm when it senses a hazard. The unit is interconnected, which means all the installed detectors will sound their alarms if one detects a threat.
However, I do wish the unit would be a little more user-friendly in terms of the hush feature, as it seems a bit too sensitive. It can be quite tricky to get it to work without accidental activation. Another improvement needed is the battery backup, which, although convenient, can be less reliable over time.
Overall, the Kidde Code One hardwired smoke and carbon monoxide detector is a decent safety device for home use. It might require a bit of patience while installing and dealing with the hush feature. But once you get it working, it's a great device to have in your home to protect you from potential fire and carbon monoxide hazards.

🔗Kidde 10-Year Sealed Battery Smoke and CO Detector with Voice Alert

I had high hopes for this Kidde Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector when I installed it in my home. The voice warning system was a nice touch, and I appreciated that it had a 10-year battery life. But, it wasn't long before I started experiencing some disappointing issues.
Firstly, the device seemed over-sensitive. It would randomly go off in the middle of the night, causing disruptions to our sleep. Even when cooking with the stove or using the fireplace, the alarm would sound without any apparent reason. This unnecessary alarming made me question the product's reliability.
On top of that, the battery life didn't seem to last as long as advertised. After a year, I had to replace the batteries, which was quite inconvenient considering the product's claim that the batteries would last 10 years.
Despite these drawbacks, the Kidde Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector's biggest plus was its simplicity. There were no complex settings to navigate, making it easy to use, especially for people who might not be tech-savvy.
In conclusion, while the Kidde Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector had its unique advantages, it was let down by its inconsistent performance and battery life. I would recommend looking into other brands that promise better reliability and safety.

🔗Red Dot Vertical Weatherproof Cover for Co Witness

https://preview.redd.it/44zv4s5stp1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=202777ef12b46b199ad2e00e0ded464251fb825c
The Red Dot CKMUV is a versatile, weatherproof cover that's been a lifesaver in my outdoor projects. I've used it to protect receptacles, switches, and plugs in both dry and wet locations, ensuring their safety and longevity.
One feature I love about this cover is its deep design that keeps the elements out, even for large extension cords. The installation process was a breeze, and once it's in place, it's secure and stays put. While the cover is a bit taller than other options, it's a small price to pay for the additional protection it offers.
However, the one drawback I've noticed is that it seems to be attracting some corrosion over time, which may impact its performance in the long run. But overall, the Red Dot CKMUV has been a reliable and effective solution for my outdoor electrical needs.

🔗Red Dot VXG-11 Co Witness Sight Ceiling Light

https://preview.redd.it/s0hvlristp1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6708e3dc06e2f7b737482ff4adaf79dfa7f3ed9f
Recently, I tried out the Red Dot VXG-11-C ceiling cross feed vapor tight outdoor light fixture, and let me tell you, it was a breeze to install. The outlet box cap and globe make the whole process quite safe and easy. I particularly liked the copper-free aluminum and stainless steel screws, which really upped the corrosion resistance of the product. That's something we can all appreciate, right?
One thing I noticed was the high quality replaceable porcelain socket with high temperature leads - it's clear that they've put a lot of thought into durability. It's always a relief when you don't have to worry about replacing parts for a while. However, I did notice a limitation with the globe: it was only suitable for 200-Watt incandescent bulbs and certain compact fluorescent ones. This could potentially limit the flexibility of the fixture.
I appreciated the fact that the globe was made of lime crystal glass which is shatterproof. The fixture was UL listed, which added more peace of mind. So, all in all, it was a pleasant experience using this product, but there's always room for improvements. It's all about striking the right balance, isn't it?

🔗Smart Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Detector with Lithium Battery Backup

https://preview.redd.it/jfoe4vxstp1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bda157a1d57d3d383a80a24ed5e5dc63309215b6
I recently encountered the Kidde Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector, Hardwired with Lithium Battery Backup, and gave it a try in my home. The first thing that stood out was its reliability. Being hardwired, it's not dependent on batteries that need regular replacement, which is a great feature if you forget to change them. Additionally, the lithium battery backup provides an extra layer of protection during power failures, allowing you to rely on it during emergencies.
One of the most impressive functions is the interconnect capability, allowing you to link up to 24 of these alarms together. This creates an extensive network of protection throughout your home, ensuring every room stays safe.
However, there were a few downsides I noticed. The first was the sensitivity of the alarm, which could be a bit too reactive for my liking. It went off a few times unexpectedly, causing a bit of anxiety when there was no actual danger. Another issue was the difficulty I experienced with the disable feature. Although it's designed to be user-friendly, I found it a bit confusing and difficult to use.
Overall, the Kidde Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector is a reliable and robust device that provides peace of mind with its dual-sensor technology and lithium backup. The only downside is that it seems a bit more sensitive than necessary, which could lead to false alarms.

🔗Easy-to-Use Rust-Resistant Home Fire Extinguisher

https://preview.redd.it/4oqu3kfttp1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=46618a8a1e54b07c90c30bc640bfd69747a1778f
I recently added a Kidde Full Home Fire Extinguisher to my household, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer. First of all, it's easy to use - even if you've never had to operate a fire extinguisher before. The clear instruction label with graphics is a lifesaver, and the easy-to-read gauge ensures you always know if your fire extinguisher is charged and ready to go.
Speaking of the safety pin, it's designed to be easy-to-pull in an emergency, which is exactly what you want when time is of the essence. The rust- and impact-resistant nylon handle is a nice touch too, as it ensures the extinguisher stays in good condition for years to come.
The highlight of my experience, though, is the peace of mind I've gained knowing that I have a reliable fire extinguisher on hand. It's always in the back of my mind when I'm cooking or working in the garage, and that sense of security is priceless. All in all, I'd highly recommend this product to anyone looking to protect their home and family.

🔗Stylish Red Polka Dot Leather Wallet from Comme des Garçons

https://preview.redd.it/4wpe3oqttp1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b95acc9d26c7189fd9e71ca357c2d21ef92fc9a1
I recently gave the Comme des Garçons Red Polka Dot calf-leather wallet a whirl in my daily life, and let me tell you; it's a stylish and functional accessory that adds a touch of flair to my outfits. Made with high-quality calf leather, this wallet has a classic look that's perfect for any occasion. The polka dot print adds a playful edge, making it stand out amongst my other wallets.
One highlight of this wallet is its all-around zip fastening, which ensures that my essential cards and cash are safely secured without the need for any fuss. The main compartment and card slots are easy to access and use, making it a cinch to organize my belongings.
Though I love the design and functionality of this wallet, there's one aspect that could use improvement: the wallet's size. While it's compact enough for everyday use, it might not be the best choice for travelers who need to carry more than just the basics.
Overall, I'd recommend this Comme des Garçons wallet to anyone looking for a stylish and functional accessory to add to their outfit. Just be mindful of its size when planning to use it on the go.

🔗10-Year Worry-Free Sealed Battery Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector with Voice Alarm (2-Pack)

https://preview.redd.it/vu0l5f5utp1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fcb62ae75f00cb16be048bc07ac1ae7b93153588
I recently had the opportunity to test out the Kidde 10 Year Worry-Free Sealed Battery Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector, and let me tell you, it's quite the experience. While some of the reviews I came across had high praise for the product, I personally didn't have the best luck with it.
The first thing that stood out to me was the ease of installation. It's a simple process, and the instructions are clear. But once I had it up and running, I noticed something concerning: it would occasionally false alarm. Now, I'm not talking about a few random beeps here and there. This thing would go off like a fire alarm during a zombie apocalypse.
The voice alarm feature was supposed to be a perk, but honestly, it just made it worse. Instead of a calm, clear voice letting me know there was an issue, it sounded like someone hitting a red siren button. It was absolutely terrifying, and not conducive to a good night's sleep.
On the positive side, the sealed-in lithium battery did last for the full 10 years as advertised. And the end-of-life warning was a nice touch, letting me know when it was time to replace the unit.
However, the cons definitely outweighed the pros here. The false alarms were a huge issue, and the voice alarm feature was more of a hindrance than a help. After experiencing these issues, I had to permanently disable the alarm, which kind of defeats the purpose of having one in the first place.
Overall, the Kidde 10 Year Worry-Free Sealed Battery Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector didn't live up to my expectations. While it's a handy product to have around the house, I wouldn't recommend it based on my experience. There are other brands out there that might provide a more reliable and less terrifying solution.

🔗Comme des Garçons Polka Dot Print Zip-Around Wallet in Red

https://preview.redd.it/pin1exlutp1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f562c6c92ab556d91e3a39d5fbeb668207994bd
As a fan of unique and functional wallets, I was excited to try out this red polka dot-print zip-around wallet from COMME DES GARÇONS. Walking around town with this wallet drew a lot of attention from fashion enthusiasts, and I could immediately tell it's made from high-quality red and white leather.
One of the features that stood out to me was the partitioned compartment. It made organizing my bills and cards a breeze, eliminating the mess that usually comes with carrying around a wallet filled with miscellaneous items. The coin pocket was also a great addition, ensuring I didn't lose track of my loose change.
However, the zip-around closure did require a bit more effort to open and close, which wasn't the smoothest experience. Additionally, the debossed internal logo could have been a bit more subtle. Nonetheless, these minor shortcomings didn't detract from the overall style and functionality of this wallet.
In conclusion, this COMME DES GARÇONS wallet is a standout choice for anyone looking for a unique, high-quality accessory that carries both style and practicality.

🔗Premium Polka Dot Treat Bags for Gifting and Parties

https://preview.redd.it/i785gd0vtp1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=63d8f40a69c5df133b13eab339a9e8262a602e89
Last week, I was on the hunt for unique and vibrant treat bags for a friend's birthday party. I came across these polka dot cellophane bags and let me tell you, they truly stood out! The bright pink color added excitement and festivity to the festivities. The plastic material was a great choice, as it was sturdy enough to hold a variety of treats and the bags had a classic design that made them perfect for gifting.
Not only did they hold up well, but they also had the perfect size for small treats and candies. I appreciated that they could be used for various occasions, not just birthday parties. They were also reasonably priced, which made them an even better find.
Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase. The bags were easy to use, and their durability made them a convenient solution for party favors. The only downside I noticed was that the twist ties for sealing the bags were a bit short, but this didn't significantly impact my experience.

🔗Red Polka Dot Balloons for Birthdays & Celebrations

https://preview.redd.it/bfeem6evtp1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=17d5076d25bdb9b130de0a0161e8cebb4e5703db
Recently, I had the chance to use these Ruby Red Dots 12" Latex Balloons for a birthday party, and let me tell you, they were a hit! The vibrant red color and polka dot pattern really added a festive touch to the decorations. These balloons are great for any occasion, from patriotic parties to Valentine's Day celebrations.
One of the things that stood out to me was how sturdy they were. Even though a few of the kids played a little too rough with them, none of them popped. I was also impressed by their size, which made them perfect for decorating tables or hanging from the ceiling.
On the downside, I did notice that some of the balloons had a strange smell when they were first inflated. It wasn't overpowering, but it was definitely there. However, after a few days, the smell seemed to dissipate.
Overall, these balloons are a fun and affordable addition to any party. They're durable, easy to inflate, and add a touch of whimsy to any celebration. Just remember to keep an eye out for that peculiar odor when you first blow them up!

Buyer's Guide

A co-witness red dot sight is a versatile and practical accessory for your firearm. It allows you to use both traditional iron sights and the red dot for increased accuracy and speed during target acquisition. As you explore the market for co-witness red dot sights, there are several key factors to consider to ensure you find the best fit for your needs.

https://preview.redd.it/5h5sccqvtp1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f20e7ee4f17b86c330e001993683390708fd9dac

Important Features

  • Red dot brightness settings: Look for adjustable brightness settings that allow you to choose the best setting for your lighting conditions.
  • Motion sensor auto-shutoff: This feature helps conserve battery life by automatically turning off the red dot when the sight is not in use.
  • Reticle options: Decide if you prefer a single dot or a multidot reticle, and choose a sight that offers that option.
  • Battery type: Common battery types include CR2032, CR123A, and MR1634. Research the battery life of your preferred sight and be mindful of the availability of replacement batteries.
  • Water resistance: Ensure your chosen co-witness red dot sight is waterproof or water-resistant, as this is an essential feature for many outdoor shooters.

Considerations

When purchasing a co-witness red dot sight, consider the purpose for which you will use it. If you will primarily shoot close-range targets, a smaller sight may suffice. However, if you need to engage targets at greater distances, choose a sight with a larger objective lens for improved clarity and low-light performance.
Additionally, think about the durability and weight of the sight. Lighter materials, such as aluminum, can reduce overall weight without sacrificing durability. If you plan to use the sight frequently, durability becomes an essential consideration.

2024.05.21 04:05 verifiedj0k3r I paid a mechanic $900 to fix my car when a "service engine soon" popped up but I'm starting to think they scammed me. Is there anything I can do?

For context I have a 4 door 2007 Nissan Altima and what they put on the invoice was:
In hindsight my experience there was kinda shady, they kept telling me it was "better to pay in cash as the machine charges 4%" and when I was concerned about the price they told me "if you don't like the price you can go" (unrelated but normally I would leave after hearing something like this but my decision-making was impaired because of a recent medication switch).
When I went to go pick up the car, the light was still on. When I told the mechanic who worked on my car he scanned for an error code, told me it was the same error code as before and I'm not sure but I think he just turned off the light somehow? He told me it should be fine but the light came back in a week. I called them and dropped it off this morning but I'm not hopeful about it.
Am I just out $900 bucks? or is there something I can do about it.
EDIT: error code was "P0455 - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (Large Leak)"

2024.05.20 02:35 Enough-District1440 Evolv Kronos vs. Scarpa Arpia V2's

As the title states, but a little context:
I met someone who had the original Arpia's and I was just 😍 over them. The wetsuit-esque socklike feel to them, the casual and comfortable looking toe-knuckle area, and the perfect amount of mid-level aggression to the shape. The replacement model undergoes some changes, and I'm curious if anyone that has used the originals have any feedback on the new ones. The straps look beefier, the sole looks fantastic, but how is the comfort? The toe box has more top side rubber; The overall fit? Just what's your take?
On the flip side, my climbing buddy in high school, many moons ago (15ish years ago), rocked the Evolv Kronos shoes and loved their balance of comfort and capability, and price. At this point, the difference in price here is negligible, but I've never heard a negative word spoken of these shoes, and want to really consider them as well.
Any thoughts on this comparison are appreciated! Thanks in advance.
By the way I bouldeclimb primarily indoors.
EDIT: History of shoes I've used in the past were Mad Rock Tricksters and Scarpa Vapor V's

Storz and Bickel Mighty - complete kit
I am selling my very lightly used Mighty with all of the additional components I have bought for it, including a bubbler attachment. I have only used the capsules and have NEVER put any flower directly into the unit. My Mighty has only been used maybe 20 times and has always ran flawlessly. I am selling thais as I am downsizing my collection and have decided to just keep my volcano vaporizer. This is a fantastic vaporizer that is honestly more efficient in saving herb compared to the volcano. It just requires to be packed more often. This thing is a portability beast for sure.
I am asking $300 for everything listed FIRM. This is priced to sell and I think this is an extremely fair deal. Cash only
Components:
Mighty (first gen) - like new condition, used with dosing caps only
  • 2 heads units (originally only comes with one) - nice to have spare as you clean the other
  • 3 dosing capsule magazines (one of which is brand new in box with eight new capsules)
~ 30ish used dosing caps - they clean easy in iso
  • The original packaged spare O-rings with all sizes, brand new wax/oil pad to use in device along with two new metal screens for head units
  • Additional brand new seal ring set ordered as extra replacements for the mighty.
  • Official Storz and Bickel filling set tray for 40 dosing capsules with little dosing capsule “grabber” tool, little brush, and spreading wedge
  • Glass bubbler attachment with slit diffuser in almost new condition, with two whips, and a brand new extra glass mouthpiece for mighty
  • Original manual and Quickstart guide included for mighty and dosing capsule tray
I am in the west end of Henrico and would prefer to meet up around Broad street, preferably in the Second and Charles parking lot. I am flexible with time and can meet up after 5 PM on weekdays or anytime on the weekends. Cash only please

🔗Carhartt Ground Force Waterproof Work Boots: Comfort, Protection, and Style

https://preview.redd.it/cifkfyv3yc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b6ef9e2ec091f93ed8076fc4a8182036b534713
I had the chance to try out the Carhartt 6" Ground Force Composite Toe Waterproof Boots in Men's Brown, and I must say, they have been quite an experience. These boots are designed for those working in tough environments, and they definitely live up to that expectation.
The first thing I noticed was how comfortable the Insite technology footbed is. I was able to wear these boots for long hours without any foot fatigue. It was great to be able to focus on my job without being bothered by my feet.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks that I couldn't quite shake off. The boots felt a bit heavy, and the ankle support could be more effective. Additionally, some reviewers mentioned they had problems with the boots not being waterproof, which is a major concern for those working in wet conditions.
Despite the cons, I must say that the Ground Force boots are a game-changer for those looking for comfort and durability in their work boots. They are well-designed, and the features like the FastDry lining and EVA midsole really make a difference.
Overall, the Carhartt Ground Force Composite Toe Waterproof Boots are a solid choice for anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable work boot. Just be prepared for a bit of adjustment time as you get used to the fit and feel of these boots.

🔗Stylish Carhartt Work Boots with Wheat-tanned Leather and Rubber Outsoles

https://preview.redd.it/axigy1f4yc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=68d2c83a51c569ca8f26c8d3fdfc44091969b680
When I wore the Carhartt Wedge Boots for the first time, I immediately noticed the soft, unlined casual upper that felt comfortable from the start. The stylish wheat oil-tanned leather uppers were perfect for both work and casual settings.
However, the lack of arch support made my heels feel like they were on fire by the end of the day. Despite the cushioned foam footbed and good-looking design, the footbed didn't offer the best fit for my wide feet. Overall, the slip-resistant Goodyear welt construction and wicking lining made it a suitable choice for construction and landscaping situations, but the comfort level left something to be desired.

🔗Carhartt Men's 6-inch Waterproof Moc Toe Wedge Work Boots Black 10.5M

https://preview.redd.it/7fpsd5m4yc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d497360fa19c8554a553499ccb393186aa1c2751
I've been wearing these Carhartt work boots for about a month now, and I must say, they've really made an impact on my daily work routine. The leather is top-notch, and I appreciate the Storm Defender membrane that keeps my feet nice and dry even on those damp workdays.
One of the features that stood out to me is the dual-density rubber sole - it's incredibly comfortable, and I find myself walking more confidently on uneven surfaces. The Goodyear welt construction is another highlight, ensuring that these boots will last for a long time, even with the occasional accidental bump.
That being said, there were a couple of downsides to these work boots. The break-in period was a bit longer than expected, but once they fit comfortably, it was all worth it. Another minor issue was the size - I usually wear a 10, but I found that these boots ran a bit big, so I had to go for a smaller size.
Overall, I'm quite pleased with my Carhartt work boots. They're a durable and comfortable choice for long hours on the job, and I feel more confident wearing them on the construction site. I hope more people can experience the benefits of these boots, just like I have.

🔗High-Performance Carhartt Waterproof Work Boot for Men

https://preview.redd.it/pb5s4vw4yc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=527c9d624b7eb799cbdcd180770bcfa9e5945a83
I recently got these Carhartt Waterproof Soft Toe Hiker Boots, also known as the FP5070-M ones, and they've been a game-changer in my outdoor activities. One of the features that stood out to me was the Vibram Arctic Grip outsole for superior traction in wet and on ice. As someone who spends a lot of time in slippery environments, this came in handy on a recent hike where I had to cross a narrow bridge over a fast-moving river.
The olive nubuck leather and high abrasion resistant 1260D material was also impressive. I couldn't help but notice how resistant these boots have been to scratches and wear, especially after a particularly rough day at work. The waterproof and breathable membrane worked exceptionally well too, keeping my feet dry even when I had to wade through knee-deep water in a swamp.
However, there were a couple of cons that I noticed. Firstly, they fit a bit snugly, so it was a bit of a struggle getting them on and off. But overall, the benefits outweighed the minor inconvenience. Secondly, I found them to be a little warm during the summer days. But considering they're waterproof and offer great support, it's a trade-off I'm willing to make.
All in all, these boots are a solid investment if you're looking for reliable, comfortable footwear to take on rugged terrains or challenging outdoor activities. The combination of style, durability, and comfort makes these boots perfect for both work and play.

🔗Carhartt Men's Brown Waterproof Work Boot with Steel Toe Protection

https://preview.redd.it/e5h1ysg5yc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=40409c5a1ee92b84e152b6850d292f2753dbde34
I recently started using the Carhartt Men's 6" Brown Waterproof Work Boots, and I'm quite impressed by their performance so far. The first thing that stood out to me was the leather upper – it seems durable and looks sleek. But the true test came when I encountered wet and damp conditions at work. The Storm Defender waterproof and breathable membrane really kept my feet cozy and dry, which was a huge relief. I also appreciated the FastDry lining, as it wicked away sweat and moisture, keeping me fresh throughout the day. The cushioned insole was a game-changer, providing support, comfort, and reducing foot fatigue.
However, there was a downside to the break-in period. The boot initially felt a bit stiff, which made it uncomfortable to wear for long periods. But that's a common issue with work boots, and I expected it. Another thing I noticed was the potential for stitching issues, as one customer had mentioned. I'll keep an eye on that, but so far, so good. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase, and I'm looking forward to putting these boots through their paces in various work conditions.

🔗Carhartt Work Boot - Rugged Design, Durable Protection, ASTM Certified

https://preview.redd.it/2jla0bm5yc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=004ac68c2dded48a0e007b5dd84d1cb04491bcb9
For years, I've been on the hunt for a rugged and comfortable pair of work boots that can withstand the test of time, both on and off the job site. After trying out several pairs, I finally stumbled upon a winner: the Carhartt Men's Rugged Flex Steel Toe Work Boot. The first thing that caught my attention was the brown leather, paired with the Carstrong durable reinforced fabric that protects against wear and tear without being excessively heavy. The boots' FastDry technology lining is a game-changer for me, as I tend to sweat quite a bit in the heels of my footwear.
One of the standout features of this pair of boots is the composite toe that protects against both impact and compression hazards, ensuring I am always safe on the job site. The rubber heel bumper provides extra stability and protection, while the EVA midsole with cushioned polyurethane insole offers great support and shock absorbance - something my feet appreciate after long hours on my feet.
The Rugged Flex rubber outsole not only offers durable traction but also keeps me feeling flexible, enhancing my overall comfort while I'm at work. However, there have been a couple of cons worth mentioning. For instance, the boots took a bit more time than I would've liked to break in properly, which disrupted my workflow for a few days. Additionally, the FastDry lining didn't seem to work as effectively as it should have, leaving me with sweaty feet at the end of the day.
Despite these minor setbacks, I have found the Carhartt Men's Rugged Flex Steel Toe Work Boot to be a reliable and comfortable choice for those seeking top-notch work boots. The pros undeniably outweigh the cons, making these boots a worthy investment for anyone looking for durability, protection, and comfort in their footwear.

These Carhartt work boots have become a staple in my daily life. The leather upper and rubber outsole make for a durable and reliable footwear option. I was a bit skeptical about the removable insole, but it provides great cushioning and support. The fit is true to size, and the boots have a nice, snug feel around the foot.
One issue I did encounter is the tongue stitching. It gets in the way of putting my foot in the boot, which is a bit inconvenient. Also, I've noticed the FastDry lining doesn't do much to control odor, so I have to clean them more often than I'd like.
Despite those minor drawbacks, the boots have held up well during my day-to-day activities. The removable insole is a great feature and adds to the overall comfort of the boots. I would recommend these Carhartt work boots for anyone in need of a tough and reliable pair of boots for work or play.

🔗Carhartt Force Sneaker Boot: Lightweight, Comfortable, and Abrasion Resistant Men's Boot

As someone who loves the convenience of sneakers when it comes to working hard, but also needs the support and durability of proper boots, I was excited to try the Carhartt Force Lightweight Sneaker Boot in Men's Coyote.
From the moment I first wore them, I was impressed by the lightweight knit upper and the protective, abrasion-resistant heel and toe counter. The fact that it has a slip and oil-resistant Carhartt Force rubber sole made me feel confident that even though I spend a lot of time working outdoors and being exposed to various weather conditions, these boots would hold up well.
Another notable feature for me was the FastDry technology lining, which kept my feet comfortable and dry during my long, tiring days at work. The light and high rebound EVA midsole, along with the Insite technology comfort footbed, provided the cushioning and support I needed, even after countless hours on my feet.
However, there was one drawback to this otherwise great pair of boots. As mentioned in the title, the boots had a slightly oversized heel and were not as snug or comfortable as I would have preferred. Additionally, while I appreciated the soft toe design, it did make the boots feel looser than I had hoped.
Despite these minor issues, my overall experience with the Carhartt Force Lightweight Sneaker Boot has been positive. It's a versatile and functional boot, perfect for those who want the comfort and flexibility of sneakers, combined with the support and durability you'd expect from a top-notch work boot.

🔗Carhartt Men's Work Boot: Rugged, Waterproof, and Protective

https://preview.redd.it/icbitty6yc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=663ca55f6eee0ea91460a4afc93d89e9b447af73
Recently, I had the chance to try out a pair of Carhartt Men's Rugged Flex 6-Inch Waterproof Steel Toe Work Boots in brown. In terms of durability, these boots truly lived up to their promise. The oil-tanned leather and reinforced fabric provided a long-lasting wear that I appreciated as I went about my daily work tasks. The lace closure was a great feature, giving me a more secure and custom fit, which was important to me as I was often on my feet for long periods of time.
One of the standout features for me was the FastDry lining, which helped wick away sweat and fight odors. It kept me feeling fresh and dry even on the warmest days, which was a welcome relief. The composite toe offered excellent protection against impact and compression hazards, and it met ASTM 2413-18 standards. This gave me the peace of mind I needed when working in potentially dangerous environments.
The rubber toe and heel bumpers added stability and protection, while the EVA midsole with cushioned polyurethane insole provided support and shock absorbance. The Rugged Flex rubber outsole offered durable traction and flexibility, making it a great choice for tough outdoor work environments. I also appreciated the secondary protection against incidental contact with electrical circuits of 18,000 volts or less under dry conditions and the ASTM 2413-18 EH standards.
Though the boots were generally comfortable and supportive, there were a few minor drawbacks. One was that the insole was not as cushioned as I would have liked, which made long periods of wear less comfortable. Additionally, I found that they ran slightly big in size, which took some time to adjust to.
Overall, I was very impressed by the Carhartt Men's Rugged Flex Boots. They provided the comfort, support, and protection I needed for my demanding work environments, and I have no qualms about recommending them to others.

🔗Carhartt Ground Force Waterproof Work Boot for Maximum Comfort

https://preview.redd.it/gkg93ub7yc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e46ec3dfbceda06b69adb54668fc4e852f17f51
Imagine a day in the life of a Carhartt Ground Force Men's 6" Waterproof Composite Toe Work Boot wearer. He wakes up to the comfortable, supportive cushioning that reduces fatigue, all thanks to the Carhartt footbed with Insite Technology. He laces up his boots, feeling the durable oiled leather upper and the Storm Defender waterproof, breathable protection keeping feet dry and comfortable. As he starts his day, he heads out into his construction project, walking on earthy and rocky surfaces, his boots standing up to the test.
However, after some time, he notices his soles are starting to crack and peel - a clear sign that these boots aren't as sturdy or durable as he thought they were. The boots he bought 18 months ago should be in good shape by now, but they're not. He wonders about the boot's durability and if it's worth the investment.
He also expresses his dissatisfaction with the customer service. He reached out to the company multiple times but received no response. It seems like the brand isn't as committed to its customers as it claims to be with its products.
Overall, he appreciates the comfortable features of the Carhartt Ground Force Men's 6" Waterproof Composite Toe Work Boot. However, the concerns about the boots' durability and the lack of customer support cast a long shadow over his experience with the product. Would he buy these boots again? It's a difficult question, but the current quality and support issues make it a challenging decision.

🔗Carhartt Men's Oil Tanned Welt Work Boots: Durable, Comfortable, and Versatile

https://preview.redd.it/dpu8b2w7yc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=773e761f47270a607e1268e5c5a9ed3983c26833
I recently tried on the Carhartt 10" Traditional Welt Comp Toe WP Boot, specifically the 15 Men's Brown variant. Right off the bat, I was impressed by the oil-tanned leather and suede upper coated with high abrasion PU. It gave the boot a rugged yet premium feel. One feature that I found quite appealing was the molded rubber toe bumper and the Carhartt Heel Guard. It provided great support and protection to my feet while on the job without compromising on flexibility.
The Storm Defender waterproof protection was another aspect of the boot that stood out to me. Working in a rainy environment, I could feel the water resisting capabilities of the boot. It did a great job protecting my feet from getting soaked.
However, one downside I encountered with these boots was the removable foam cushion insole with TPU arch support. While it offered some comfort, it felt a bit off after some time, giving me unnecessary pressure on my arches.
Another thing I was a bit disappointed with was the rubber lug outsole, which while offering excellent traction and slip resistance, wore out much faster than I expected for a boots in this price range.
In conclusion, overall my experience with the Carhartt 10" Traditional Welt Comp Toe WP Boot was satisfactory. The boots have shown good support and protection for my feet, but they could use some improvements in the comfort and durability departments.

2024.05.19 04:40 No_Prize9087 Should I get a cheap $10-15K used car or is it worth going up to $20+ for newer and lower mileage? My priorities are safety and reliability

(TLDR at the bottom)
Why I’m looking for a car
In the US, been working remote but now looking for a new job and due to decrease in remote jobs available I think I finally need to get my own car again. I’m not a car person, don’t love driving and it makes me nervous especially on highways (which are usually unavoidable), so I put it off as long as I could but am hitting a point where I feel stuck in my current circumstances and am wanting to get a car to open up my job opportunities and relocation options, as well as more flexibility in social/hobby activities outside of work.
My original goal was to buy a used ~$10K basic car for commuting, but it seems like I can get much more car for ~15-20K, but is it worth it? I probably would put a below average number of miles on it per year. I also want to make sure it isn’t going to be a money sink of frequent repairs and a short life span though.
What I’m looking for
When looking at $10-15K cars vs $16-25K, is the higher cost worth the extra investment? Priorities are safety and reliability. But I’d would rather save that additional $5-10K. I’d like to be able to keep relying on it for the next ten years. but I’m also afraid to overspend now in case I really need a vehicle change sooner in the future (I want my next car to be an EV, so I’d want this car to last me long enough at least till when buying an EV is widely affordable and has infrastructure for it to be dependable even without a home charger)
What I’ve looked at so far
After researching, it seems like a Toyota, Honda, or Mazda are reliable fit the bill perfectly for safety and reliability. Though I always see people on here saying Mazda 3s are cheaper but when I looked they seem to be just as expensive if not more expensive than Toyotas and Hondas with similar mileage and years but maybe I am misremembering and unequally comparing them. I also see that private pay is often a better deal, but based on my super basic understanding it seems like getting something from a dealer that has a warranty and quality assurance is worth the extra cost, is this true? I know so little about warranties and car shopping. CarMax is what I’m most familiar with, but I see better deals elsewhere though so idk if it’s worth the extra for how “easy” Carmax seems to be compared to the stories I hear of pushy sales people at traditional dealerships who charge for vaporous extras.
In pursuit of a safe purchase, my budget slowly inched its way into looking at 2018+ Corollas in the $18-20K range because it seemed like it could be worth it to pay extra to ensure reliability and lower risk of it being a regrettable investment and money sink, like “an extra $5-6K now is better than having more than that in repairs (+inconvenience) and a shorter life span over the coming years.” But then I saw somewhere a $22K used 2024 Corolla and felt like maybe that’s worth the extra 2K, and then from there saw I could get a new one for $2K more at about $24K, and it’d probably have a better warranty policy since its new and almost zero risk of wear issues. And then at that point, I can ask should I spend another couple thousand for a hatchback version or a hybrid? But then it hit me how far I got from my original price range and I feel lost and going back to looking at $10K cars but they look so risky. I’m cautious as far as the saying goes, “buy it nice or buy it twice.” Long story short, I’m willing to pay extra if it’s really worth it, but I want to be as financially prudent as well and avoid overspending since I don’t truly need an excessive car (I try to save most of my money where possible). I’d like to pay extra for safety and reliability if it’s worth it but I don’t know where the point of diminishing returns is for reliability.
I read somewhere that Nissans have sucked but also that as of 2020 they started having seemingly more reliable transmissions. Is that true? I was afraid to get a Nissan but even a new one is less than $17K so it seems like a very budget-friendly option. I was at one point looking at Kia/Hyundai for their lower prices, but then I discovered the whole issue of them being huge targets for crime, and my parking spot isn’t visible from my window so I’d be worried about leaving it out of sight like that, as well as potentially high insurance costs. Mitsubishi mirage is cheap and potentially reliable but also is apparently not safe (plus I’d feel terrified feeling like I’m in a golf cart on the highway haha).
TL;DR
When looking at $10-15K cars vs $16-25K, is the higher cost worth the extra investment? Priorities are safety and reliability.

2024.05.18 23:49 Porkythehipster WTS Lamia nature grip v4, Modded Mini Arius, CRK backpacker, and PM2’s

Howdy swap, I have a few up for sale today. If you have any questions about any of these feel free to shoot me a message. Only trade I may be willing to make is for a Cortex XL but mainly just trying to sell. Yolo is king. Zelle only at the moment as I’m having issues with PayPal. Should ship out Monday. Other than that thanks for checking these out!
https://imgur.com/a/7hyTb1g
SPK Lamia nature grip: this one was from the swap so at least second owner, Elmax blade, nature grip handles, cut, carried, disassembled, and sharpened, no signs of snail trails or wear that I can see besides being sharpened, came in a pouch and will ship in same pouch. SV: $900 TV: $900 SOLD
Modded Koenig Arius: just picked this one up last week on the swap, wanted to try it out compared to the Rosie but still prefer my Rosie, came a little dull so I did sharpen it with the precision adjust pro but one bevel came out a little wider than the other side so adjusted price accordingly, other than that everything else is in amazing condition. Below are the mods done to it according to previous owner:*Custom Shepared cc custom carbon fiber scale with windows and micro milling. *Ted Rooney vapor honed the scales and anodized the hardware, backspacer and clip blurpuple. *Vapor Honed Scales and blurple anodized hardware, spacer and clip by Ted Rooney *Flipper Delete by geckcustom SV: $850 TV: $850 SOLD
CRK Backpacker: just picked up this one from the swap a couple days ago as well and was hoping it would be small and lightweight enough for me to EDC but I can’t find a way to comfortably carry it since I mainly wear athletic wear, was not cut or carried by me. Looks like there’s a little of the finish worn off on sheath rivets, other than that in great condition, comes with original box and paperwork, letting it go for what I paid for it. SV: $395 SOLD
Magnacut PM2: first owner, DLC coated Magnacut blade, black G10 handles, impulsively purchased this one last week but I doubt I’m ever really going to carry it so just going to let it go, LNIB condition, never cut, carried, or disassembled, just flicked open a few times. SV: $220
CruWear PM2: first owner, satin cruwear blade, natural canvas micatra handles, have had this one for a while, cut, carried, and sharpened, but never disassembled, pocket clip screw did get cross threaded and broke off inside handles upon attempt to remove, it was a user so pricing accordingly.
