I'm just a dude who makes patches in his basement with his 3 home machines
Hello all! I've been designing and making patches since 2016-17...mostly GI Joe for The Finest Costume Club I belong to. You can check out my online catalog here: https://mediocreatbest2927.wixsite.com/patchczar2020 . I mostly like to do costume patches, but have others as well. I try not to make patches that already exist and I will not do law enforcement, military, or replicas of older patches of the above. I can't do great detail/lines, but I think what I do produce is pretty ok. I went through all of the GI characters from 1982-90-something and also the Classified Series (6" figures) and some vehicles and designed their tampons it insignias. I also take commissions and specialize in one offs or very small batches. Oat of the money I make off of patches goes to supplies, maintenance, and charity. My favorite thing is creating a patch designs nobody else does. I just love making patches.

2024.05.22 02:20 Almondjoyriding Can anyone please offer job/career ideas based on my interests?

I'm job hunting right now, and I'm trying hard to figure out a position that will actually feel fulfilling/wont be so hard to force myself out of bed for every day. I thought it might be helpful for myself to list out my interests/wants, and then I realised maybe the larger pool of people on reddit might have some ideas on positions or industries that I should look into, based on the list I've made.
So please, if the list below sparks any ideas at all of positions that might fit my personality, I would really appreciate any and all input!! Thank you!!

2024.05.21 23:36 CosmicMorpher The Symbol of Peace has fallen. Behold, the HPSC's solution to this... Make everyone All Might!

All Might defeated All for One in his original fight, but perished as a result. The Commission knows that Japan's safety is at stake from the loss of the Symbol of Peace. Crime would soon go on the rise.
To combat this, they turn the heroes of Japan and form them into something brand new: the Mighty Corps!
That's right. The Commission institutes new hero guidelines and procedures to make it look like the heroes of Japan are truly united against protecting peace. To put it simply, every hero's costumes and names now have to match All Might's. Same color scheme. Same design. Same variation of names.
Unless you have a support gear specifically designed to help you, your costume has to be All Might's. If you do have something, like say the newly dubbed "Eraser Might" has a capture scarf, then they are allowed to keep it.
As for the rest of the heroes, if they don't comply, then their licenses are immediately stripped away.
To give an idea of what this would look like, here are some examples...
Mount Lady becomes Mount Might. Kamui Woods is now Kamui Might.
If you can't pick a name like that, then one will be given based on your Quirk.
Like "Uravity Might" doesn't have a good ring to it. So, if you were to take the name of her Quirk, "Zero Gravity", you would get "Zero Might!"
Wait...

Any suggestion on how i can improve it?

2024.05.21 21:30 I_Want_an_Elio Any Star Wars cosplayers (actual or wannabe) out there?

My hobby is 3D printing and Star Wars offers a lot of models to print. I'm making a Mandalorian suit for a co-worker, but we are having a hard time getting plugged into any Star Wars activity. There was a Star Wars event at Washington Square on May 4th, but it was Lego. Nice stuff, but not costumes or props. I'm getting better at design and am trying to get into electronics/Arduino to "bring these things to life."
Any chance for some communication? I'd love to hear what you are doing, what you want to do, and see what you've done.

2024.05.21 21:27 bdonldn Beacon 23... it’s just a bit shit isn’t it?

Season one was ok ish, but season two is really bad. It’s reminiscent of Blake’s 7. Over wordy dialogue, poor acting, bad writing...but with a bit of a splash of budget.
Just watched s2e7 and because it was dull, the mind wanders and the costume design is bad too - the soldiers who come in are only two (hmm) and they’re wearing skimpy overalls but enormously cumbersome helmets, and then they get out extending sticks and go into tight corridors.
I did try to like it (I love sci-fi) but this is a bust.

2024.05.21 21:10 LolbitClone No, Frights and Tales canonicity is not confirmed.

Disclaimer: This is not a TalesGames or Stitchline debunk. I believe in both and think they are the most likely outcome.
Yeah, kind of a provocative title and flair. Full disclosure: I personally think that Tales and Stitchline are in the games timeline, that Burntrap and Glitchtrap are (mostly) the Mimic, all of the things that a lot of people in this subreddit probably agree with.
However, I've been seeing (mostly on platforms outside of reddit, but here as well), more and more posts talking about how a certain theory is "confirmed" and that those that dont believe in it are "lacking media literacy", "in denial", or "coping". This attitude makes the discourse extremely unproductive and just outright frustrating. As the canonicity of the books is the topic that tends to be discussed in such ways, I found it fitting to play devils advocate for a bit.
1.) No event from the books has actually been shown or properly referenced in the released games. There have been slight nods to them, such as the "Greg" and "Wizard" grafittis in RUIN, but they can easily be explained away. There's also no sign of the old attractions once built into the Pizzaplex (apart from the very debatable striped wires that MIGHT be from the storyteller). Sure, all of that can be explained away, but if Tales was unquestionably canon and Steel Wool/Scott had no issues with showing that, why not put a single Tales attraciton in RUIN or Help Wanted 2?
2.) No, The Mimic appearing is not confirmation. It only confirms that a book character can go from the book universe to the game universe, and that Tales was meant as a buildup. EVERYTHING else about his appearance in RUIN is essentially designed to not confirm Tales. It isn't built like the Epilogues describe it, it doesnt look like Burntrap, it wears none of the costumes described in Tales, it doesn't actually do its famous arm curl, there are no references to tigers, white or otherwise, ANYWHERE in RUIN.
3.) No, "Into The Pit" (the game) is not confirmation. Yes, a major game not being canon is a first. But so is everything about "Into The Pit"! It's our first book adaption, it doesn't actually intersect with the main ongoing narrative, therefore being our first true spinoff. Does it suggest the books being relevant? Yes! But before we get our hands on this book, nothing is CONFIRMED.
4.) No, "GGY" (and similar stories) are not confirmation. Does it very strongly intersect with the games timeline? Yes! Does it basically confirm Patient 46s identity? Sure does! But that really isn't much different from Into The Pit confirming the MCI date. It can happen without it being in game continuity.
Further such points can be made for other theories (like the fact that Glitchtrap and Vanny are not ONCE mentioned in Tales, therefore rasing the question why a story about Security Breach-adjacent material does not feature them, and that our supposed candidate for Glitchtrap doesnt have any relations to him), but you get my point, right? This isnt confirmed, and saying that those that do not believe in it lack media literacy is silly.

2024.05.21 19:30 certifiedbpdqueen Is Shameless realistic?

Hey guys, so I’m curious to see if you guys think Shameless is a realistic portrayal of a poor family. Personally, I grew up just as poor as the Gallagher kids with an alcoholic father just like Frank, and I think that some parts of the show are very realistic, but other parts are way too Hollywood. For example, how tf do they all have SO many clothes? Like seriously, they wear different outfits every single day, only occasionally wearing the same jacket or the same shirt in different episodes. Not to mention that Fiona’s outfits are super expensive in real life, I really loved the purple dress she wore in the pilot and I found the exact same one online, but it was 1200 dollars 💀 Like I wish the costume directors just went to Target or something and bought a bunch of clothes in order to make the characters’ outfits more realistic instead of buying designer dresses for a character that’s supposed to be living off of food stamps in the south side of Chicago. Another thing is the amount of food they have, which they constantly waste, and same with the cigarettes that they’ll just take two hits off of and then put them out. Like I swear in every episode they have a big ass bucket of KFC that still is half-full when they toss it in the trash. This show does remind me of how I grew up as a kid more than any other show I’ve watched despite a lot of its inconsistencies, but I’m curious to see what you guys have to say.

2024.05.21 19:24 Embarrassed-Fan-3108 Fashion queens offer nothing

Fashion queens offer nothing unless they are the ones making costumes and coming up with their own designs. I’m tired of seeing these tiny queens think they are the full English breakfast just because they put on old Versace and highlight their collar bone. Drag isn’t only about aesthetics, I WISHHH they could get that knocked into their head. Edit : I have not seen the new season of all starts but the fact that I already clocked the “vintage Versace” kills me lol

2024.05.21 18:33 helenwren Natural, simple brands to check out?

I'm getting married next May and am just starting to look at dresses.
I like natural, sustainable fabrics, and feminine but not revealing silhouettes. Nothing super low-cut as I will just spend the day thinking about whether my cleavage is too much. I'm also open to a history-inspired design, although I don't want my dress to look costume-y. I'm hoping to keep the cost under $1,000.00.
So far I've liked Sister Organics and Celtic Fusion. What are some other brands I should check out?

2024.05.21 17:32 kennystans Opinions on pony variants

Opinions on pony variants
So.. heres a thing gameloft is currently (maybe complete?) working on.. can I just say.. I hate the idea Like the images say/show, gameloft is planning on adding Rainbowfied variants of some “popular” characters (why tf is Sky Beak there??) 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝘁.
The rainbowfied versions should be kept exclusively to the mane 6 imo, they were in the show and deserve more recognition, theyre special and the mane 6 don’t stand out as much if theyre not the only ones rainbowfied. Theres so many clones for characters, a lot of them are good but its just getting ridiculous. This post doesn’t necessarily apply just to the rainbowfied variants, but things like hearths warming princesses (wheres hearths warming mane 6??? They have super cute winter outfits in the show) those could all be costumes?!?! Like I loveeee new designs, but when its just an outfit, make it a costume instead.
The Pony Editor feature (costumes) is so underused. When you get all of the costumes available, your tokens just keep piling up. Why not make more costumes for characters instead of variants? Give the princesses gala dresses, give them exclusive princess dresses I DONT KNOW, SOMETHING. Theres so many costumes in the show not in the game.
Anyway, instead of rainbowfied “popular characters” variants, if theyre not going to consider making costumes for the designs (they wont) why not make something similar to the cutie mark magic toyline? Like im not against rainbowfied characters, I just want the mane 6 to shine, if these new variants looked more like the cutie mark magic toyline I think itd be nicer, give them a couple extra colours in their hair too, idk, just not big poofy giant rainbow hair and pony, that should be for the mane 6. And the mane 6 only.
ALSO WHY NOT A RAINBOWFIED OR VARIANT FOR SUNSET?? DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY YOU COULD MAKE OFF SUNSET VARIANTS GAMELOFT?! A LOT
I probably shouldnt complain before their designs are even released, but based off the scootaloo one, its going to be like the mane 6 styles. Yk, THE ONES THAT ARE SPECIAL FOR THEM thanks for coming to my rant, PLEASE TELL ME YOUR THOUGHTS I HOPE THIS REACHES GAMELOFT STAFF LOL

Edd Tom, we promised to commit suicide when we get kids!
Tom Oh yeah.
Edd Tom, do you remember that safe in our old house?
Tom Yeah, the one that we left behind when it got destroyed?
Edd Yeah, that one. I was thinking we could go back and break into it. There’s bound to be some cash left in there.
Matt But what if the cops catch us?
Tom Relax, Matt. We’ll make sure no one sees us.
Edd We’ll go at night and make sure to cover our tracks.
Edd But we have no mask- (Tom, Matt are suddenly in Goofy Villain outfit) Edd Where did you even get those
Matt Dumpster!
Edd There's no way I'm wearing one of those! Act 1 Scene 3
(Cuts To) Ext. Old House - Backyard
The three friends stand in the backyard, wearing their goofy villain outfits, as Edd adjusts his costume with annoyance.
Edd (Cont'D) "This is ridiculous. I can't believe you two made me wear this."
Matt (Excitedly) "You look great! We're like the Three Stooges of crime!"
Tom (Grinning) "Yeah, but instead of just being fools, we're gonna be rich fools!”
Edd Matt did you cover our tracks?
Matt Yeah, look. (Shows an path of purple path leading right up to their location)
Tom Matt you know when I said I hated you?
Matt Yeah?
Tom I DIDN'T LIE!
Matt Aw...
Edd "Alright, let's just get this over with. We break into the safe, grab the cash, and get out. Simple enough."
Tom (Cocky) "Piece of cake, guys. We're professional criminals now."
Matt (Excitedly) "We're going to be rich!"
(The friends approach the safe and begin trying to open it.)
Edd Uh, does anyone remember the code?
Tom Not me!
Edd Matt?
(Camera pans to Matt admiring a picture of himself)
Matt I thought I lost you forever baby (Matt says as kissing it)
Edd
Tom(drunk) My idea is to blow up an orphanage!
Edd How do you get drunk off of Smirnoff in 4 seconds!?
Tom(drunk) Idk ask the unicorn in the sky!
Edd (Sigh) I'm going home.
As Edd turns to leave, Tom comes to his senses.
Tom "Guys, hang on. What if we try a brute force attack? Like, really give it a good ol' college try?"
Edd (Sarcastically) “Oh yes, because that's so much better than blowing up an orphanage.”
Tom (Ignoring the comment) “Just hear me out. We all know that safes have a maximum number of combination attempts before they lock us out. So, what if we just brute force it?”Edd But what brute force would... (Edd's eyes spark up with an idea, and a devious smile form's on his face)
Tom So... what's the idea?
Edd (Raises his eyebrows)
Tom I don't speak eyebrows?
Matt (Raises eyebrows)
Tom What!?
Edd (Overlapping Matt) THROW TOM!
Matt (Overlapping Edd) THROW TOM!
Tom Did I ever tell yall I HATE ALL OF YOU!As Matt and Edd start shoving Tom towards the safe, he starts resisting and shouting obscenities at them.
Tom (Yelling) "What the hell is wrong with you guys?! I'm not a goddamn battering ram!"
Matt (Laughing) "Oh come on, it'll be fine! What's the worst that could happen?"
Edd (Shoving Tom) "Just go with it, Tom. You'll thank us later."
Tom (Reluctantly) "Fine, but if I break anything, I'm suing you two.”(Edd and Matt lift Tom over their head and chuck him head first into the safe making a extremely loud smash)
Edd See Tom, that wasn't so bad!
Tom I think broke one of my hair bones
Matt Is it open?
Edd Nope. It's dented tho!Edd Still dented.
Matt Again-
(The gang hear police sirens)
Matt OH NO I'M TOO PRETTY TO GO TO JAIL!
(The police pull up and get out of the cop car with gun)
Cop 1 PUT YOUR HANDS UP!
(The entire gang puts their hands up with a ton of Matt's pictures falling out of his clothes)
(The police officers look confused as they witness the sight in front of them.*)
Officer 1 (Perplexed) “What the hell happened here?”
Matt (Innocently) “We were just trying to break into a safe. No big deal.” Act 1 Scene 4 Int. Cop Car - Midnight
Tom (Drowsy) “Why do my eyelids feel like heavy rocks…?”
Matt (Looking confused) “Hey, does anyone else smell pickles?”
Edd (Snickering) I knew I shouldn't have put on pickle deodorant!
Cop 1 (Driving) “Quiet, back there!”
Edd (Mumbling) Sorry Angry Mcgee!
Matt (Whisper) Pss, Edd!
Edd What?
Matt Get this! (Quickly throws a picture to Edd with his mouth)
Edd What is- Holy S**t I thought I lost this forever!
Camera pans down to show Edd, Matt, and Tom when they first moved in, including a old friend named Tord)*As the camera pans down to the picture, we see a glimpse of a time long ago. Three friends – Edd, Matt, and Tom – are laughing and smiling, with a fourth boy, Tord, standing beside them. They're holding balloons and standing in front of a house they recently moved into. Act 1 Scene 5
(Transition to) Jail - Cell - Midnight
Edd TOM! I'M DYING HELP ME!
Edd is dramatically lying on his back, holding an empty Cola can, pretending to have a heart attack. Meanwhile, Tom is sitting on a bunk bed and rolls his eyes.
Tom (Sarcastically) “Oh, yes, because your Cola addiction is definitely the biggest concern here. Not us being thrown in jail overnight.”
Edd OH WOE IS ME!
Edd writhes around on the bed in despair, while Tom just sits there, clearly agitated by Edd's melodrama.
Tom "Edd, you've been going on about your cola running out for hours now. Can you give it a rest, please?"
Edd (Frantically) "You don't understand, Tom! My cola was my life! How am I supposed to survive here without it?"
Tom (Tired) "Perhaps you should try sleeping or something?”Matt Uh, guys why is there a dude in helicopter trying to shoot us with a bazooka?
Edd (Sarcastically) Well thats just great.
(The group is flung back as the cell window is blasted open)
The man with the bazooka comes through the smoke.
Paul Hello, uh sorry I don't know your names. The Red Leader only refers people as code names.
Tom The Red who?
Matt My name is the beautiful Matt-
Edd covers Matt's mouth
Edd Don't tell him your name idiot!
Paul My name is Paul.
Camera Pans to Matt
Matt Why are your eyebrows 20 feet tall?
Camera Pans back to Paul
Paul They aren't even that big are you blind!?
Camera Pans back to Matt
Matt suddenly wearing blind glasses
Matt Yes
Patryk Hi my name is Patryk-
Paul PATRYK YOUR FLYING THE HELICOPTER!
Patryk Oh.
We hear a Helicopter explosion from outside. Paul and Patryk look down from the exposed cell wall, showing the burning half-destroyed Helicopter.
Patryk Don't worry I'll fix those scratches!
Paul Whatever.
Edd So, are you here to save us?
Paul Nah, we're gonna capture you!
Edd Aw, Bugger
Paul pulls out a "Super cool taser gun" as the label on the taser gun says.
Tom Lame.
(Tom is shocked and knocked out by the taser gun)
(The group watches in shock as Tom goes down from the taser-gun.)
Matt (Panicking) "Oh no, Tom! Edd, do something!!"
Edd (In shock) "What can I do? There's two nut jobs with a taser gun and an assault rifle who are trying to capture us!"
Paul (Casually) "Don't worry, if you don't resist, you'll be safe. The Red Leader just wants you guys for a special project.”
Edd Whatever.
Edd blacks out
(Cut to) Helicopter - Backseat - Morning
Edd wakes up
Edd (Distraught) Ow my head hurts!
Tom (Confused) What happened?
Edd (Deep Voice) Hey Babe.
Tom (Angry) Wtf Edd!
Matt is making muffled sounds because of a mask on his face that says "Beware ugly fish monster behind mask." Edd takes the mask off of Matt.
Edd (Disturbed) EW, the mask was right!
Matt (Angry) Hey!
Paul So you finally woke up!
Matt Uh, yeah
Edd This reminds me of when I flew a Helicopter when I was in the Uk Army!
Paul (Confused) You were in the army!?
Matt We all were can't you tell just by looking at us!
Camera pans to show all of the three boys looking exaggeratedly more stupid than usual.
Paul No.
The three friends look at each other in annoyance, feeling belittled by Paul's remark. Tom speaks up.
Tom (Sarcastically) "Oh wow, thanks for the compliment. Nice to know we look like a bunch of army rejects."
Matt (Defensively) "Excuse me, we are actually highly trained and intelligent individuals... in our own special way.”
Tom (Sarcastically) At least two of us are!
Tom and Edd high-five. Matt not realizing that they are inferring that he's the stupid one, keeps a smile on his face
Edd (Amused) Wait didn't your Helicopter crash like a few hours ago?
Patryk (Proudly) This is my 857th Helicopter!
Edd's Amused face goes to worried.
Edd (Unsettled) “Oh boy, this is going to be one bumpy ride…”
Edd At least we're away from the HELI-COP-TER
Everyone looks at Edd because of the horrible pun.
Tom So, where are we going?
Paul To the "SUPER EVIL EDGY VILLAINOUS BASE!"
The camera zooms out of the Helicopter to show that the place is actually called "SUPER EVIL EDGY VILLAINOUS BASE!"
Edd Well that's just silly.

2024.05.21 16:36 Billy3DWilliams Settle an argument for me on the designs used for the wormhole and blackhole in Interstellar.

Now the look of the wormholes and the blackholes are famously noted for their accuracy but those were not only models they had of either phenomenon. Below were the three options for the blackhole
https://i.imgur.com/ciAtejv.jpeg
The top is the one they used in the film. The bottom is the most "accurate version" that they discarded because it was visually confusing/awkward due to the assyemetric accretion disk and doppler effect.
This is the gif of the wormhole showing starting with the "short throat" wormhole that was shown in the movie and ending with a long throat wormhole that has the nested look. Both types are accurate.
https://i.imgur.com/IypevuX.mp4
My buddy thinks the 3rd blackhole design and long throat wormhole design should've been used. This isn't an argument of accuracy but aesthetic. He thinks they would've been more surreal. I can see the argument for 3rd blachole design but the long throat wormhole just looks ugly to me. If I were to give an example it would be like going from the sleek costumes in comicbooks to the overdesigned MCU constumes. But my buddy thinks Nolan dropped the ball on this.
What do you guys think?

We have kindly been lent some dance costumes that are designed to go over hoops... but we haven't been lent the hoops. Without them the dresses are too long and the girls are going to stick their toes in the hems and faceplant on stage.
I've got minimal budget and no time to make them, so which of the cheap nasty Amazon / Shein petticoats are the least bad? The one with 3 hoops, largest 33" with the tulle layer over - view 9 here? https://www.shein.co.uk/Wedding-Petticoat-Bridal-Hoop-Crinoline-Prom-Underskirt-Fancy-Skirt-Slip-p-34678814.html ?

2024.05.21 12:55 chanma50 'Hit Man' Review Thread

I will continue to update this post as reviews come in.
Rotten Tomatoes: Certified Fresh
Critics Consensus: A deceptively dark thriller that's also loaded with laughs, Hit Man is an outstanding showcase for leading man Glen Powell -- and one of the most purely entertaining films of Richard Linklater's career.
Score Number of Reviews Average Rating
All Critics 96% 81 8.30/10
Top Critics 93% 27 8.00/10
Metacritic: 82 (21 Reviews)
Sample Reviews:
“Hit Man” is studded with delicious moments, but as amusing as the movie is it has a plot that sprawls forward in a rather ungainly fashion, and it goes on for too long. - Owen Gleiberman, Variety
Smart and steamy screwball fun. - Leslie Felperin, Hollywood Reporter
The comedy is a deliriously entertaining star vehicle for actor Glen Powell. - Ben Croll, TheWrap
“Hit Man,” Linklater’s latest film, falls into the fun-with-a-heart (and brain) category. It’s got a lot going for it. For one thing, there’s Linklater’s deft touch, particularly when juggling comedy and romance (with a little crime drama thrown in). 4/5 - Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona Republic
A smartly written, sublimely comedic, and sexy human-scale relationship story with a touch of just enough suspense and hints of criminality to prove that its title is not a complete misnomer. 4/5 - Cary Darling, Houston Chronicle
In the hands of a lesser director, Hit Man would surely have felt rather thin and disposable. But Linklater is a pro, and he manages to make the film’s fripperies feel borderline profound. 4/5 - Xan Brooks, Guardian
An intelligent comedy that contains plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and references Kant and Nietzsche, it is also a thriller that is darker than it first appears. - Jo-Ann Titmarsh, London Evening Standard
Hit Man trips along on great writing, Linklater’s witty, light-touch direction and a rich sense of place, but what makes it especially pleasurable is Powell and Arjona’s naturally steamy rapport. 4/5 - Robbie Collin, Daily Telegraph (UK)
... An effervescent comedy from Richard Linklater that simultaneously snubs its nose at the entire genre while easily nabbing the honour of most purely entertaining film to grace the Lido so far. 4/5 - Kevin Maher, Times (UK)
Another, crueller writer-director would have pivoted to scenes of bloody violence, but Linklater prefers to ponder the question of whether you can will yourself into becoming a different person. 4/5 - Nicholas Barber, BBC.com
A sorta-true story about an average guy who finds himself caught in a web of crime and deception, Hit Man is a cute and clever (sometimes overbearingly so) showcase for Powell’s magnetic charm. - Richard Lawson, Vanity Fair
The police scenes are just light enough to be funny, the screwball sequences are just dark enough to keep you on the edge of your seat, and Powell... is obviously elated to be handling such twisty material. - Shirley Li, The Atlantic
This genial comedy/noir is a genuine crowdpleaser – funny, sexy, clever and confident in building a low-key humour which hits the target over and over again. - Fionnuala Halligan, Screen International
It’s a genuinely riotous time at the cinema and concrete proof Powell is perhaps our brightest hope when it comes to keeping the notion of the movie star alive. - Hannah Strong, Little White Lies
Hit Man is hot and hilarious, a winning combination amplified by a story that gets knottier at every turn. - Nick Schager, The Daily Beast
Powell’s ability to power through some dull material on charm alone only reaffirms the credibility of his stardom, and the film’s general lack of ambition keeps things from going awry whenever a joke doesn’t land. Aim small, miss small. B- - David Ehrlich, indieWire
I’s just fun to watch good old-fashioned comedy in which love, danger, and happy endings are all part of a damn fine evening at the movies. - Alissa Wilkinson, Vox
With Richard Linklater’s Hitman, the charismatic Glen Powell has been offered a plum opportunity to shape his image into something more complicated and often poignant. 3/4 - Zach Lewis, Slant Magazine
[A] light-and-lively comedy. - Jordan Hoffman, The Messenger
Comfortably Linklater’s best movie since Boyhood, Hit Man stands alongside School of Rock for big laughs and good vibes – albeit with a darker streak that slowly kicks in. 4/5 - Philip De Semlyen, Time Out
Powell and Linklater would have done better to take Johnson’s story as a launching point and then spun off into their far more complicated version of his life without literally tethering the movie to a real person. - Alonso Duralde, The Film Verdict
Linklater has long had a gift with playful humor, and he nails the tone here without turning “Hit Man” into the slapstick it could have become. - Brian Tallerico, RogerEbert.com
A comedy/thriller that’s in equal parts charming, nerve-wracking, and ethically challenging. - Glenn Kenny, RogerEbert.com
Every interesting aspect of the true story and the imagined story are smoothed out. - Drew Gregory, Autostraddle
The smoldering, wily, wild-but-true Hit Man returns Linklater to his loquacious take on romance, with a man using his gift of gab to shrug off himself. - Charles Bramesco, Inside Hook
A witty, relaxed, and cheerfully fictionalized comedy-caper-romance; in the bargain there’s some light philosophical meditations on the impermanence of personality. 4/4 - Ty Burr, Ty Burr's Watch List
It’s as if Linklater is playing posthumous wingman for his subject, giving him the rom-com-slick Hollywood ending he never got in life. - Keith Uhlich, (All (Parentheses))
SYNOPSIS:
Oscar-nominated director Richard Linklater’s sunlit neo-noir stars Glen Powell as strait-laced professor Gary Johnson, who moonlights as a fake hit man for the New Orleans Police Department. Preternaturally gifted at inhabiting different guises and personalities to catch hapless people hoping to bump off their enemies, Gary descends into morally dubious territory when he finds himself attracted to one of those potential criminals, a beautiful young woman named Madison (Adria Arjona). As Madison falls for one of Gary’s hit man personas — the mysteriously sexy Ron — their steamy affair sets off a chain reaction of play acting, deception, and escalating stakes. Co-written by Linklater and Powell and inspired by an unbelievable true story, Hit Man is a cleverly existential comedy about identity.

When I got my hands on the Cold Steel Trench Hawk Trainer, I was immediately impressed by its size and weight. The synthetic material felt surprisingly sturdy and authentic, making it perfect for learning the ropes without the danger of injury.
Not to mention, it closely resembles the actual Trench Hawk, so every training session felt like a real-life scenario. However, the weight was noticeably lighter than the real deal, which might not be ideal for those looking for a more accurate experience.
Overall, the Trench Hawk Trainer provided a safe and effective way to hone my skills, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to up their training game.

🔗Cold Steel Trail Hawk Axe: Versatile and Durable Outdoor Survival Gear

The Cold Steel Trail Hawk Tactical Gear is a versatile and durable axe that's perfect for survivalists, preppers, and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Its lightweight design, coupled with its functional hammer poll, makes it an invaluable tool for camping, hiking, and even self-defense.
While the thin blade may limit its chopping capabilities, its small size and affordability make it a great option for those seeking a practical and budget-friendly solution.

🔗Cold Steel Heavy Duty Nylon Cane with Rubber Ferrule

https://preview.redd.it/zff2qcd85r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49220e3304283938aeb10702863408684c69f846
I've been using the Cold Steel Heavy Duty Cane in my daily life, and it has proven to be quite the companion. The nylon handle provides an enhanced grip that makes it convenient to hold, while the steel construction ensures structural strength for long-term use. I particularly appreciate the rubber ferrule, which is designed to be slip-resistant, making it an excellent choice for uneven terrain or icy sidewalks.
One downside is that it might be a bit heavy for some people, especially those who don't need the extra weight for support. However, the overall design and engineering of the cane are top-notch, and it gives me a sense of reassurance knowing I have a sturdy and reliable walking staff whenever I need it.

🔗Cold Steel 1911 Guardian 2 Walking Stick for Comfort and Style

https://preview.redd.it/iows0cp85r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e4b98bc778859c22702efc1ea039213016671ef0
I recently had the opportunity to try out the Cold Steel 1911 Guardian II Walking Stick, and let me tell you, it's quite the conversation starter! The first thing I noticed was the attention to detail - the pistol grip-inspired handle is surprisingly ergonomic, making it a comfortable addition to my daily walks.
The aluminum shaft is both sturdy and lightweight, making it easy to navigate through various terrains. But what really sets this walking stick apart is the pebble grain synthetic grip - it provides a firm hold without causing any discomfort, even during long walks. I also appreciate the fact that it's designed to accommodate custom 1911 pistol grips, allowing me to personalize it further.
One of the most impressive features is the rubber ferrule at the end of the shaft. It provides excellent traction on wet, icy, or uneven surfaces, ensuring a safe and secure walking experience. Overall, I'm quite pleased with the Cold Steel 1911 Guardian II Walking Stick. It's not just a practical walking aid; it's a stylish accessory that adds a touch of flair to my daily walks.

🔗Introducing Cold Steel's Ultimate Synthetic Training Staff: Indestructible and Perfect for Martial Arts

https://preview.redd.it/2lba3y395r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eae250cdb4c8527b1445b9ee59b0d1ad6b42c837
As someone who has been training martial arts for years, I was drawn to the Cold Steel Training Staff for its durability and resistance to damage. I found that it was incredibly reliable and felt solid in my hands, making it the perfect training tool.
One of the standout features of this staff was its weight, which gave me a realistic feeling when practicing. While some users noted that it was heavier than they preferred, I appreciated the added challenge and authenticity it provided.
The thickness of the staff was another highlight, as it allowed for better control and maneuverability during practice. However, some users mentioned that it was slightly off-balance due to the uneven thickness at the ends. Despite this minor issue, the overall design was well-suited for martial arts training and flow art.
The polypropylene material used in the construction of this staff was another impressive aspect, as it proved to be virtually unbreakable and practically indestructible. It held up well to wear and tear, even after years of use. However, some users suggested that it might be too heavy for certain applications, such as hiking.
Overall, the Cold Steel Training Staff proved to be a reliable and effective training tool. It provided the necessary challenge for those looking to perfect their martial arts techniques and was a versatile option for various exercises. However, its weight and thickness might be a factor for some users, depending on their specific needs and preferences.

🔗Stylish, Durable Cold Steel Walking Staff for Urban Strolls

https://preview.redd.it/0lcmvxg95r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce2cc79129df519ebf5b3dbfa4bbda7468f92142
The Cold Steel Pistol Grip City Stick was my daily companion for quite some time, and I have to say, it proved to be quite versatile and durable. Made entirely out of eleven layers of fiberglass, I was impressed by its ability to withstand impact without a single crack. The 6160 Aluminum head provided an added touch of elegance and sophistication.
One of the most prominent features of this walking stick was its ability to function as both a cane and a self-defense weapon. The pistol grip design made it easy to hold and use, providing a comfortable and secure grip during long walks or in case of emergencies.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks. Firstly, the cane proved to be a bit on the heavy side. Granted, its heft gave it a sense of robustness and stability, but I couldn't help but wish it were a tad lighter for those extended walks.
Another minor concern was the screw holding the head to the shaft. It felt a bit thin, and although I never had any issues with it, the possibility of a break seemed somewhat of a risk. Overall, I would still recommend this walking stick for its durability, versatility, and elegance. It's surely a reliable companion for any adventurous spirit.

🔗Cold Steel Polymer Axe Head Walking Staff for Enhanced Support and Durability

https://preview.redd.it/20kthy0a5r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=95d46f72287d72e2b6fb76d5e39a9e2ea10485db
Recently, I got my hands on the Cold Steel Axe Head Polymer Cane, and it has been a game-changer for me. As someone who often goes hiking and enjoys long walks, this cane offers enhanced support that I had never experienced before. The polypropylene material is a significant highlight of this product; it not only makes it sturdy and durable but also stands up to harsh weather conditions.
One feature that stood out to me is the axe-shaped handle. It's comfortable to grip and holds well, making it an excellent companion for my adventures. However, one downside I noticed was the lack of any resistance mechanism at the end of the cane. This made it a bit challenging to keep it steady on hard surfaces, as it would slide around quite easily.
Overall, the Cold Steel Axe Head Polymer Cane has proven to be a reliable and versatile walking tool. Its solid construction and sturdy design make it an excellent choice for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts like myself. Despite the minor issue with the cane's resistance mechanism, I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a dependable and functional walking stick.

🔗Cold Steel Soldier's Targe Walking Staff

https://preview.redd.it/d4ugtuca5r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87d1c33224084b7fc7b653754e9e556b29578375
I've been using the Cold Steel Soldier's Targe in my daily life, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer! Made in the USA, this 19-inch diameter shield measures 0.5 inches in thickness with a weight of 2 lbs. 2.7 oz. Now, I know what you're thinking: what's so special about it, right? Well, let me tell you.
This shield is not only sturdy, but it's also incredibly reliable. Made from polypropylene, it's the perfect size to not only take on a variety of swords but also to provide years of hard service. The weight is just right – heavy enough to deflect incoming blows but not so heavy that it feels excessive.
Now, let's talk about the user experience. This targe is a great training tool, perfect for SCA rattan combat. And it's versatile! Not only is it great for training, but it can also be used for solo movements or even for self-defense – surprise!
However, one thing to note is that the weight can be a little more on the heavy side, especially when you're trying to lift it. But that's a small price to pay for such a reliable and sturdy shield.
Overall, the Cold Steel Soldier's Targe is a fantastic product that's perfect for anyone looking for a reliable and versatile shield. The price is quite reasonable, especially considering the high-quality materials and craftsmanship. Great for training, great for self-defense, and great for everyday use – this is one targe you definitely don't want to be without!

🔗Stylish Blackthorn Shillelagh Walking Stick with Clipped Thorn Design

https://preview.redd.it/pmy8wpqa5r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6b6be0956554eb7d7f21cc9fe61c45431308bc3a
My experience with the Blackthorn Shillelagh has been nothing short of a delight. Its distinctive charm immediately caught my eye, with its clipped thorns design elevating it from a mere walking stick to a unique accessory. Made from high-impact polymer material, it boasts an enhanced durability that's perfect for prolonged usage without the need for constant maintenance.
One of the most remarkable aspects of this product is its polished faux-wood head. Not only does it provide a smooth and premium look, but it also adds to the overall appeal and functionality of the walking stick. I found that its overall length of 27 inches and weight of 20.1 ounces offered a solid balance and ease of use during all my outdoor activities.
However, I did notice a few drawbacks. Firstly, the weight may not be ideal for all users, especially if it's to be used frequently or for extended periods. Additionally, the thorns on the shaft initially felt uncomfortable, which led to some modifications being made in order to enhance user comfort.
Despite its minor drawbacks, the Cold Steel Blackthorn Shillelagh remains a highly-functional and visually alluring accessory. Its durability and unique design make it a fantastic addition to anyone's collection of walking sticks, whether for everyday use or as a collector's piece.

🔗Cold Steel Heavy-Duty Nylon Walking Staff with Black Anodized Aluminum Shaft

https://preview.redd.it/536x4g4b5r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d414e75dbe38be619ceb08d2ec9519b3d5afb86a
Imagine taking a stroll with a walking staff that feels both sturdy and comfortable in your hands. That's the experience the Cold Steel Cable Whip Cane provides. I've had the pleasure of using this cane in my daily life, and it has made all the difference. The heavy-duty nylon handle feels durable yet provides a natural grip, while the black anodized aluminum shaft adds elegance and strength.
As expected from Cold Steel, this walking staff is made with top-tier materials and construction methods that assure it will last an impressive amount of time. The 37-inch overall length and 27.25-inch whip length offer ample support and reach, making it suitable for various terrains and activities.
However, there is one downside to the Cable Whip Cane. Its nylon handle, while comfortable, can get slippery during rainy or sweaty conditions. It would be great if Cold Steel could incorporate a texture or another material for better grip in such situations.
Overall, the Cold Steel Cable Whip Cane is a reliable and versatile walking staff that has greatly enhanced my outdoor adventures. Its unique design and top-quality construction make it stand out among other canes in the market. With minor improvements, this product could become a true essential for those seeking a durable and reliable walking aid.

🔗Cool Halloween Wand Walking Staff

https://preview.redd.it/k5ybp9ob5r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=edfce4069896de939b18eed54a2c30c5c01c8d72
Recently, I came across this unique Walking Staff, or as some call it, the Cold Steel Walking Stick. As a fan of both practical and eye-catching accessories, I was intrigued to try it out firsthand. What really stood out to me was the 62-inch length, which added a certain level of grandiosity to my wanderings, making me feel like I was on a quest for some hidden treasure.
Despite being made of plastic, the Walking Staff surprisingly felt sturdy and well-made, thanks to its realistic wood grain texture. This added detail gave it a touch of sophistication, making me feel confident in its ability to support me on my journey. With a weight that was far from burdensome, I quickly came to love the convenience it provided while strolling around town.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks as well. Although the black detailing made the staff visually appealing, it did attract a considerable amount of attention. This might not be a problem for some, but I found myself feeling a bit self-conscious as I used it. Additionally, even though it was lightweight, I couldn't help but feel that a more durable material like metal would have given me a stronger sense of security during my adventures.
In conclusion, the Walking Staff, or the Cold Steel Walking Stick, is a delightful and practical accessory for those who want to add a touch of magic to their daily life. Its unique blend of style and function, while not perfect, definitely makes it an interesting choice for anyone looking for something a bit unconventional.

🔗Cold Steel Walking Axe Head Cane: Combat-Inspired Self-Defense Stick

Recently, I've been using the Cold Steel Walking Cane with an Axe head. At first, the weight of the cane was noticeable, but it quickly became sturdy and trusty. I preferred to use the cane as intended, rather than attempting to modify it for a smaller size. The cane's handle was comfortable, providing a perfect grip for everyday use. However, the slick surface of the cane was a bit of a drawback when moving around on polished floors; it didn't offer much resistance, and sometimes it became difficult for me to keep a firm hold.
During my time using the cane, I found it to be an excellent choice when traversing various types of terrain. The axe head was both an appealing design and served a practical purpose. However, I also discovered that the product really needed a rubber tip on the end to prevent it from sliding all over the place. This, combined with the slight inconveniences posed by the cane's material and size, have led me to rate the Cold Steel Walking Cane with an axe head a solid, functional, and versatile tool for daily use.

I recently had the chance to try out the Cold Steel Walkabout Stick, and I must say, it truly is a versatile and sturdy tool. Made from solid black polypropylene, it's a durable option that's perfect for hiking or using as a self-defense weapon.
The weight and over-sized rounded pommel head give it a solid heft, making it an ideal companion for navigating tricky terrain or keeping an intimidating presence. The textured surface provides a comfortable and firm grip, while the simple one-piece construction ensures it remains lightweight when you need it. The walking stick is not just an aid for stability, but also doubles as a useful tool for outdoor activities, and I appreciate its stylish yet practical design.
Overall, the Cold Steel Walkabout Stick is a great addition to any walker's arsenal and a fun conversation piece. If you're looking for a reliable and all-purpose walking stick, this one is definitely worth checking out! .

As a nature lover and avid hiker, I was intrigued by the promise of the Blackthorn Walking Stick. After using it for a few weeks, I can confidently say it's a sturdy and reliable companion for my outdoor adventures.
One feature that stands out is the blend of polypropylene and wood-like texture. This gives the walking stick a perfect balance of strength and style. While it may not have the same rugged feel as a real Blackthorn staff, the faux wood knob at the top adds a touch of elegance and authenticity.
The walking stick is also surprisingly lightweight despite its substantial length of 59 inches. This makes it ideal for long treks without causing undue fatigue. The dimensions and ergonomic design make it comfortable to hold for extended periods.
However, the one drawback I encountered was that the thorns on the knob could occasionally snag on my clothing or backpack. While this might seem like a minor issue, it's something to be aware of when walking in tight spaces.
Overall, the Blackthorn Walking Stick is a great investment for those who enjoy hiking and camping. It provides both functionality and style, making it a worthy companion for any outdoor enthusiast.
