2024.05.21 04:05 JoyUpNorth Does anybody have the one piece swim rashguard with shorts from Old Navy?

Hi! As the title states, referring to the one for toddler girls that comes in either floral or color block pink/white. This is the exact style I want for my daughter and I love the print, but the main selling point is the description says it comes with “hidden snaps on leg inseam” which is the real reason I want it over other ones as this is perfect for diaper changes and potty training. But the reviews seem to indicate that only the “smaller sizes” have the hidden snaps, and not the “larger sizes.” But they don’t mention which size they got that didn’t have the snaps! If can’t find anywhere what the cut off size is for the snaps. I did the customer service chat function and the dude said based on the description that all the sizes have snaps… but the reviews clearly say other wise.
So does anyone have this swimsuit, if so what size do you have and does it have the leg snaps or no?

2024.05.20 03:49 Sabrinaspfan I hate and love my siblings at the same time

This is a vent, I sometimes love my 5 siblings, but sometimes I want to put them on a eBay auction, I get along with some of them but 2 of them I hate with my life. I have to take care of them like I’m a free babysitter, my 10 year old brother is a literal psychopath and narcissistic coward, he takes joy out of others suffering. My 7 year old stepsister is an annoying “perfect” little brat who thinks everything revolves around her, she uses up all my conditioner because she REFUSES to cut her long hair. And I suffer when taking care of my 6 month old sister and 3 year old brother, my 3 year old brother scratches and hits people when things don’t go his way, and he throws everything in sight and my 6 month old sister is always crying, everytime I rock her, feed her a bottle, or change her diapers she’s still crying. And my 11 year old stepsister attacks me for random reasons, one time I showed her the pilot to a show, she gets on character ai to chat with a character, and attacked me when the character is being weird I hate being a free babysitter I hate living with psychos And I dislike my parents for having them

2024.05.20 03:43 passports_parakeets Dimmy Likes the Cup Holders in the Palisade and Her Makeup Stash is Street Urchin Kate’s Favorite Thing to Raid - The Dirtles’ Week in Review

Monday
Dimmy: I hope you all had a great Mother’s Day! Stevie Kate surprised me with a balloon, baguette, half-eaten apple, and pinworms she picked up from the feral Denner tots, and I surprised Stevie Kate and London with a Sol Brush powdered sunscreen shill and carcinogenic particles of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide in their lungs. Stevie Kate’s spent the past 48 hours in her pajamas tearing through a bag of rotisserie chicken, so I decided to resume potty training to get her to stop binge-eating chicken. I am finally ready to start potty training again now that we are going through so many diapers with twice as many Contentots in the house.
Dimmy: Ta da! Here is Stevie Kate’s adorable potty setup! Complete with balloons and princess underwear! Stevie Kate, are you ready to go on the potty and wear your underwear? Stevie Kate: I’m ready right now! Neighbor Boy Harry: Uh… Imma head out and go help my mom with her shitty stationery line! 🏃‍♂️🎒
Tuesday
Dimmy: Would you like to give us an update on how potty training is going? Sassy Kate: Would you like to give us an update on how you and daddy exploit your children on the internet for financial gain? Dimmy: I’ll give you a cookie if you detail every bodily function from the past 24 hours. So Fed Up Kate: I’ll give you a swift kick in your bad knee if you don’t stop talking about my toilet training. Dimmy: That’s it, your punishment for being sassy is you have to stay in your pajamas again all day. Sleepwear Kate: We all knew that was going to happen anyway.
Dimmy: I need to get your guys’ thoughts. With potty training, do I just stay at home? Or do I carry the miniature singing toilet with balloons attached everywhere we go? I’ve been staying at home the past 24 hours and it is torture! We haven’t even been able to go visit the Astroturf at the shopping center by our house. Stevie Kate’s been doing pretty good. We’ve had a couple accidents today, but she’s been doing really well for the most part- OW! Why did you kick me in the knee, Stevie Kate? Here, go play with this bag containing an entire rotisserie chicken and eat as much of it as you want. Mommy’s busy talking to the people in her phone who fund our lifestyle. Anyway, I can’t just stay inside for the next two weeks! That’s insanity! I need your help! How do I go out with Stevie Kate while potty training? Drop your tips in the box! I know I could just ask my sisters, Iris, or Meta AI on Instagram instead, but that doesn’t drive up my engagement numbers like responses from you sorry losers do!
Dimmy: Speaking of Iris, I did text it for craft ideas to keep School’s Out Kate busy this summer. Also I contacted Iris for a color analysis and Iris responded that bright orange parachute I wore car shopping looked great with my skin tone, and I should consider cutting up some of the parachute material to sew it into a dress. I tried to explain to Iris that it already was a dress, albeit a voluminous one, but Iris just responded with these bizarre outfit suggestions of monochromatic business looks for fall and winter where each outfit is the color of Tiffany’s self-tanner-applied orange skin. I tried to tell Iris it’s summer time and it’s hot as fuck here in Texas, plus I mainly wear athleisure and billowy dresses, not business clothes, but Iris said who cares, these aren’t real clothes anyway, just weird hypothetical Fashion Plates looks a robot mocked up. Iris said whatever I do, to avoid wearing cheetah print. What the fuck! That’s never going to happen. I love cheetah print. Still, I think you gullible assholes should subscribe to Iris anyway and use my code BOYAREYOUDUMB for 50% off your first month! Don’t you want to be able to TEXT Iris instead of carry a computer around 24/7 to use ChatGPT? I know that question makes no sense, since you don’t need four laptops in a Nordace backpack to use ChatGPT, but all of my followers are gullible idiots and will subscribe to Iris despite my idiotic statements!
Thursday
Dimmy is wearing loads of dark makeup and another gigantic billowy dress, and you know what that means… time to go car shopping again with paid pal Diana! Dimmy shared stories from Wednesday’s car shopping excursion to Hyundai and Kia and once again the trimmed-down troll was “too busy” to go along. Sidekick Kate was a good sport through the whole car shopping ordeal, despite hopping from bathroom to bathroom, the charge running out on her Tonies box, and her Mylar princess balloon sailing away in search of a beach to pollute. Screenie Kate forgave Dimmy for losing her balloon since she knows there’s always plenty more where that came from and she has Wina from Balloonish on speed dial. Dimmy sailed from new car to new car thanks to a strong breeze and her billowy dress, looking for the SUV with the most charging ports for all of her devices and the largest number of adjustable cup holders big enough to fit even the most gigantic of Stanley cups in her collection. She found the “Hun-Die” Palisade fit the bill, with chargers and cup holders galore. She wasn’t as impressed with the Kia “Tell-a-ride” because it didn’t have as many cup holders and ports to charge her numerous devices. Dimmy is now torn between buying either the Palisade or the Escalade because those were the only cars she found that rhymed with “getting paid.” Should she go with the practical, convenient “Mom car” Palisade or the super nice and luxurious Escalade?
Today Jen is grateful Kimmy, Stevie Kate and London are coming over to bring hugs and content. Stevie Kate was excited to show off her potty training progress to Minnie and Papa.
Jen: Stevie Kate, what are we doing today? Sugarless Kate: Baking sugar-free cookies on this damn, dirty floor, like usual. Jen: Why are you using ghost-shaped cookie cutters? Spooky Kate: Because Mommy is a ghost! Jen: Your Mommy is a ghost? Stevie Chef: Yes! Because I want her to disappear!
Tiffany was furious when she saw on stories that Kimmy, Stevie Kate and London were getting all of Jen’s gratitude and attention, so she threw a giant bow and no shoes on Lily and sped over to crash their party and divert all the attention to herself. She immediately whipped out her boobs to shill her Eby bra when she saw Dimmy nursing, claiming she and Jen might start lactating at any moment. Then she publicly shamed Stevie Kate for having an accident in her car seat on the way to Jen’s.
Meanwhile, London is still alive despite the clouds of Sol Brush sunscreen powder raining down on her face yet again as Dimmy’s fascination with demonstrating how to use the high-commission product continues. Dimmy headed to the airport to pick up yet another sister to help her out with London, but not before posting a Ritual vitamin shill so she could take the day off stories tomorrow.
Saturday
London is finally being a cooperative Contentot, smiling for Instagram from beneath her giant bow, and doing a picture-perfect Swaddle Stretch channeling her older sister’s performances from back in her newborn days.
Sol Brush is back in stock and Dimmy is bursting with joy at all the commission she’s going to make from more sales of the ineffective sunscreen, her kids’ lungs be damned. If Sunburnt Kate doesn’t convince Dimmy’s followers it doesn’t work, I don’t know what will.
Stevie Sunburn headed indoors to get a break from the sun and play with the robot bug toy Dimmy’s sister brought her. Thank goodness the Tacky Screech Owl found an Amazon link for the gift so she can make money off that too. Dimmy even had an active Active Skin Repair code, so she shilled it them sprayed Stevie Sunburn to give her some relief.
Street Urchin Kate looked like a Victorian Orphan by mid-afternoon as her Belle princess dress mopped up dirt, sidewalk chalk, Dimmy’s makeup, and everything else in her path. Dimmy left Disheveled Kate with her sister and cleaned herself up, threw on her Paris dress, and headed to a baby shower for the Houghtons’ wealthy family friend Anna. The beautiful florals and tasteful spread at Grange Hall were too elegant for the tacky turtle bunch, so Jen set the centerpiece flowers on fire with the votive candles to protest the lack of balloon arches, then escaped by helicopter to go terrorize another Texas city, Austin.
With two days off this week and tomorrow being Sunday, Dimmy’s Saturday shilling was at an all-time high. She’s linking up everything but the kitchen sink, and she’d link that up too if she had a code for it.

2024.05.19 12:11 MeatJordan Where CAN I protest this?

Let me start with the summary version:
It all began when I first stumbled upon Inside Edition's videos of women - that's WOMEN getting slammed, insulted, and blasted for "showing too much of their body (with kids around)". Then it escalates further when they show a school is photoshopping out women's cleavages to make them look "modest" for their yearbook. I feel this type of treatment towards the female human is all wrong! Like, can't anybody learn to appreciate and look at the female body without censoring it in any way? Can't you let ANYBODY, including kids, get a chance to learn about the differences between the male and female human bodies????
Then comes along... you guessed it. That one video Inside Edition publishes. And after seeing her top blurred, my inner voice in my head: "That's the last straw!" Like, can't some of us get a chance to learn something new that just aroused our curiosity? Such as how the human body changes with time in terms of both genders? Like, now, I can finally visualize myself (my whole body) from little boy to fully grown man. But when Inside Edition published that footage, the new question that took me by storm is: what would a female look like from little girl to fully grown woman?
But with YouTube's broken comment system GHOSTING certain-to-random comments, even on my backup YouTube account, I can't seem to get ANY messages across!
Speaking of which, when I tried to post this on Feminism and AskFeminists, they BOTH perma-banned me for NO REASON and muted me from talking to their mods for 28 days!
Why do I say "no reason"?
"Hello, You have been permanently banned from participating in this subreddit because your post violates this community's rules. You won't be able to post or comment, but you can still view and subscribe to it.
If you have a question regarding your ban, you can contact the moderator team by replying to this message.
Reminder from the Reddit staff: If you use another account to circumvent this subreddit ban, that will be considered a violation of the Content Policy and can result in your account being suspended from the site as a whole."
As you can see, there is no specific reason listed in the message above. So this is why I claim or what I mean by "banned from a sub for 'no reason'. - Even for something that was never officially listed on that sub's rule board.
Once more, I, along with these parents of their own daughter proved one major point: if a male can go topless/show their body, then so can a female - regardless of age!
Can't I get a chance to learn something new? Some evolution/development processes for certain things can be a little more complicated then you originally first thought.
Now here's the detailed version:
Ok, before you start reading below, I want you to visit this and read the whole article to better understand my situation: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/kitchener-waterloo/guelph-parents-angry-after-topless-girl-8-told-to-cover-up-1.3124762
I got banned from Lemmy social site servers for "CSAM" all because of this: the Napalm Girl pic and another thing I saw on Inside Edition's channel in addition to some nude statues - literally artwork of naked people - all because I was trying to protest ~the inconsistencies of censorship towards the female human~ - regardless of their race AND age!
Let me be clear on one thing: I didn't post any "CSAM" on the Lemmy servers! I'm protesting something that I feel is unfair towards the female human.
Please ~actually watch these before jumping to conclusions~ so you can actually understand what I’m really protesting!
Women Who Were Told Their Outfits Were ‘Too Revealing’
Mom Says She Was Kicked Out of Gym For Revealing Tank Top: I Felt Humiliated
Cops Dragged Woman Off Beach After Complaint About Her Bikini
It’s one thing to say a girl’s outfit or body is “too revealing”,
Teens React After Yearbook Photos Are ‘Modesty Edited’
it’s two things to photoshop out a girl’s cleavage to make her look “modest” for a yearbook or a portrait!
9-Year-Old Saves Family From House Fire
But censoring a topless preteen girl who thought up an ingenious strategy to stay cool like her friends in the same stuffy room while at the same time not caring who’s around her? THAT’S REALLY CROSSING THE LINE!
It's all thanks to some videos from Inside Edition's YouTube Channel. All these videos Inside Edition posted are developing a question in my mind that's getting the better of me: why so much hate on the female human - even as children? Like, why do they censor the little girl's chest? Can't anybody learn to appreciate the appearance of the female body? Just like those parents of their own 8 year old daughter, I too am genuinely outraged by this type of treatment towards the female human!
And what's the big deal with nipples? I'm just trying to ensure everyone is treated equally regardless of race, and gender... AND age (after what I just witnessed). And if no one's gonna speak up about this, I might as well step up to the plate. After all, somebody's got to do it!
That little girl in the final video made two non-verbal messages clear: one: if a boy can do it, then so can a girl! And two: no one is too young for anything! As long as you have the knowledge capacity and I.Q level to do it properly and safely, you'll be fine. I was able to refuel my dad's car and cook my own dinner when I was 6 and without setting anything ablaze by accident.
However, when I try to illustrate with that video, even though Inside Edition is an official news channel, the responses I get back are rather bitter! They remove my post or ban me from the sites I post on for "promoting nudity involving a minor"!
~WHERE~
~CAN~
~I~
~ASK~
~OR~
~SHARE~
~THIS~
~SUBJECT?!~
Due to my autism, I only know basic English. So I need to illustrate to get most of my messages through. I thought hard, I tried, and low and behold, they were removed hours later mainly because they "didn't fit the subject of the forum". Even though my multi-subject based thread does have some material relating to this forum's topic. These sites and mods are all really stretching my problem solving skills beyond the breaking point for this one. I'm merely protesting with these pictures and videos as illustration. I'm not that good with words, so I need pictures to get half my messages across as noted above.
Many subreddits or forum sites don’t accept URLs, pictures, specific website URLs, or even a combination! Thereby hindering my ability to fully explain what I’m witnessing! In this case, the sentences “It’s one thing to say a girl’s outfit is ‘too revealing’, it’s two things to photoshop out a girl’s cleavage to make her look ‘modest’ for a yearbook.” actually corresponded to several videos I beared witness to on Inside Edition’s YouTube channel.
I actually tried to post that URL with that blurred 9yo girl in a subreddit in the past and you won’t believe this: I actually lost my reddit account for 2 days for “promoting nudity involving a minor”! Other sites like the adult video forums who accept uncensored nudity-based images I mentioned just delete my thread! Another site I recall banned me for 1 year for “spam” - even though I only made this protest post twice (after they removed it once).
So that meant I had to approach this from a different angle: after that experience, I got a little paranoid from using that said video URL to illustrate. So I tried explaining this protest without the URLs - and this is in conjunction with certain sites restricting my ability to post images, URLs, certain site URLs, or a combination. It seemed to end up making things worse! Because without the visual evidence, it makes it much harder to fully explain what I’m witnessing.
So without the URLs included - that visual illustration, on the sites I tried along with Lemmy World, it actually made things worse! That’s what lead Lemmy.World mods to ban me for life for “CSAM” or made other people think I watched child porn when I clearly didn’t. The lack of visual evidence (due to my past reddit experience combined with the site’s posting restrictions) is what lead to this “pedophile” confusion. So please help me talk some sense into the Lemmings world, Lemmy.ml, and Lemmy.world mods that this was all a major misunderstanding and Lemmy is pretty much the only reddit alternative out here where I can try asking another question. My attempt to appeal has failed on 3 Lemmy social sites - even after I tried notifying the mods on the third Lemmy server site before making the post, so I need your help now!
I felt after Inside Edition uploaded that blurred 9yo girl video… I thought to myself “That’s the last straw!” Someone needs to protest these absurd censorship laws that they apply to the female human!
Why can males show most of their body but females can’t? - In most cases that is? Whatever happened to "Free The Nipple"?
Children should have the same… rights to do things as any adult! It’s about possessing the knowledge capacity and I.Q level to safely execute this action. E.G, on those “Family Day” episodes of The Price is Right and Let’s Make a Deal; those kids made smart choices when picking the correct numbers to items to win a prize.
I’m not joking around here! This type of treatment towards the female human needs to stop - this includes race and age. - It’s like racist people, but in age form.
Does it look like I’m laughing for fun? Of course not! Since no one else is protesting this, and YouTube has a flawed comment moderating system hindering my ability to post on even random videos (I.E, "ghosting"), I have to take more drastic measures to protest by stepping up to the plate and shouting out “Can’t we all be equal in terms of a huge variety of traits?” Yeah, the last thing I need is a vein-bleeding broken-record robot impeding or hindering my ability to seek answers to a question!
We need to learn to appreciate or accept how the female body appears regardless of race and age!
Stop trying to blame it all on me! None of the stuff in the vids posted, is that. If it was, Inside Edition would be the guilty party, and Youtube for not having already deleted them. If it doesn’t violate Youtube’s TOS, it should be fine to post anywhere. If there was even a hint of impropriety to it, at the minimum the vid would have been age restricted.
No one would answer! Not even Inside Edition themselves were willing to offer an answer when I even found their email address, the sites dedicated to helping those in mental, suicidal, or emotional distress (those forum sites even PERMA-banned me for "spam" - that's right, SPAM! (Even though there was absolutely no mention of a permanent ban or rule about "spam" in their forum guidelines!) Is that the definition of "spam" when I make a bad thread only once?! And when I try to appeal the ban, the same message "please contact the administrator if it was done in error" is blocking my ability to click the contact button! Or sometimes it's a blank white page with that message in the top left corner of the window! - Which adds more insult to injury, because I can't click anything as all the buttons have disappeared! That means I can't log out of that site either!), OR the adult video forums that support uncensored nudity images would accept that video link URL let alone the entire topic itself! So I really am at a loss for thoughts and words on what I just experienced! Heck, I even tried the professional therapists of talkingforchange.ca But even they too were too reluctant to talk as they claim my post regarding the censorship of women is not for their platform and they disconnected the chat 2 seconds after their last reply to me. And I highly doubt that ANY site will allow me to illustrate with a picture of the Napalm Girl (Phan Thi Kim Phuc) when she was 9, certain pictures of Pampers diaper boxes (why do you think they (Pampers, Huggies, etc.) even allow a pic of a topless little boy or girl to be plastered on a diaper box we see in grocery stores/supermarkets everyday?), Leela when she was an infant in the episode Leela's Homeworld, or even Belgium's famous kids: Manneken Pis/Jeanneke Pis. That, combined with YouTube having a flawed comment moderating system hindering my ability to post comments on certain-to-random videos (I.E, "ghosting"), I'm forced to take more drastic measures to get my messages across. All this combined, ~I'VE NEVER FELT SO SHUNNED FROM THE INTERNET IN ALL MY LIFE!~
But here's a strange catch: sometimes on some sites, Napalm Girl is censored, other sites she isn't. So I felt that I need to protest this. It seems everyone is too chicken to even start this subject! Don't these numbskulls know not to judge a book by it's cover?! This is where I ask myself "NOW WHAT?!". This can't be one of those "exceptional" cases where they say "suicide never solves anything" doesn't apply to these types of situations. In other words, all hope for resolving these types of situations really is lost. I really do feel left in the dark on both the subject of sound effects and nudity!
Once more, I'm not being a ped, I'm protesting all these absurd censorship rules and regulations that revolve around the female human - regardless of race and age - after what Inside Edition posted. Watch the videos I found again for clarification. In other words, ~the inconsistencies of female human censorship~.
Can you really - you know, hurl insults at Inside Edition or blast them for what they did? It was their idea to publicly publish the footage. Just like how that one photographer made the choice to publicly publish footage of the Napalm Girl when she was 9 and completely nude. Therefore, it should be ok to share this footage anywhere.
But some areas censored Napalm Girl's nipples, but others did not - excluding her groin. Then there's the diaper boxes I found in any supermarket. And finally... Surprise surprise: typical women being scolded by other people for wearing something "inappropriate" or "showing too much of their body". I look around and since no one else is protesting about this, I might as well do it! After all, someone's gotta step up to the plate to hit that ball! I will not sit idling by the sidelines and continue to watch the female human get treated/censored like this! I will stand up, step up, and speak out towards these absurd reactions, rules, and regulations that revolve around the appearance and censorship of the female body! What about the famous Jeanneke Pis in Belgium? Do you think she along with other nude statues are trying to promote pedophilia?

2024.05.19 08:46 EggClare69 My friends fiance left her last night with a two year old, currently staying at my house

My friend (26 f) and her fiance (47-50? Not sure M) have been having a lot of relationship issues. She never really sees her friends and it feels a lot like he doesnt want her to have friends, hes pretty useless, probably changed 3 poopy diapers in the span of 2 years and 3 months. He is quite manipulative and standoffish. But im not saying my friend does not have flaws of her own, they obviously have a lot of resentment towards eachother.
On Thursday I went to her house as I havent seen her or bub in months and we had a glass of wine, i am usually good for two glasses and able to drive but her expensive wine was too much for my body and I realised I couldnt drive home after one drink. So she offered for me to sleep over, I have been meaning to do this anyway so that I can learn her buns night routine so i can babysit for her if needed. I said okay because I had work the next morning and wasnt able to afford the 45 minute uber home and back in the morning to get my car. So in the end we decided to just finish the bottle. We were tipsy/semi drunk, i remember the whole night as I am not a light weight, where as she is very skinny and was on her way to drunk but not quite there.
We mainly played with bub (fiance wasnt home until 7pm) and throughout the night we sat downstairs and caught up and chatted. Her bub woke up screaming at about 11:30 do we went up to calm her and put her back to sleep (albiet badly as we were not sober) my friend ended up bring bub to bed with het and fiance and I was heading to bed when I realised we had accidentally switched phones. (Please know i am aware i should not have entered their room without express permission but in sullied mind i thought this is gonna take legit 10 seconds to switch our phone) mine was on her bedside table so, in order not to just randomly walk into theor room i told fiance im just coming in quickly to switch our phones, i placed hers on her charging pad on the bedside table where mine previously was. And crept back out (because bub was in bed sleeping and friend was downstairs doing something idk) then i went to bed.
Got up at 5:30 the next day and left for home and went to work. She was messaging me saying fiance was really mad and was stating I slammed into the room and threw her phone at him being really loud. I doubted myself for a second but thought no, because I remember the whole night, and even if i was black out drunk the worst i would ever do is stumble and maybe talk a little louder then i thoight i was.
I told her to apologise to fiance for me in the case i was loud by accident and for entering the room withoit explicit permission.
On Saturday i had a mutal friend of ours over to play a ages 5 and up riddle game and drink (no way we are gonna be able to do a normal mystery solving game whilst drinking lmao) and we had invited my friend too. She said she really wanted to come but didnt want to upset fiance. We said that in any relationship, why would wanting to spend a night with your friends ve something that would upset him. Its as if he is feeling like having to take care of their child alone, one time, was a huge burden for him, keep in mind she does everything for bub, usually without help.
She said she wanted to come and he responded by saying "fine if you want to leave then im leaving" got dressed and went out to the pub with his mates, leaving her by herself with the bub. So me and other friend said to just cone iver and bring bubba with her, so she did.
Important to know, she takes her ring off at night because its uncomfortable for her to sleep in, he knows this, and it has never been an issue, she had already taken her ring off to bath bub and put her to bed so when she came over she wasnt wearing it. Was a simple mistake. He became irate with her and advised over text that they were done and that she has to move in with her mum and take baby with her. She was obviously very upset but didnt want to reply whilst angry without thinking it through first and he was spam messaging her saying hes packing her stuff and bubs stuff and she has to get out.
Shes now at my house, because her mum and other friend lives over an hour away from bubs daycare. But I absolutely am so happy she and bub is here and safe with me. I would have always offered anyway regardless of distance.
But I am exhausted and she is exhausted and I dont know what to do to help. I am also not used to having a toddler around at all. I am disabled and so I have limitations for caring for a toddler for an extended period of time. She is doing everything herself but i dont want to just sit on the couch while she does everything (unpacking the random assortment of things she needed and stuffed into bags in a hurry and taking care of bub) so i am extremely run down and its been less then 24 hours.
I am not suggesting nor do I want them to leave in any aspect. I was just wondering if anyone has advise.
Fiance also cut off her card, which obviously she uses to buy things for bub and herself to live. I dont make very much money so cannot contribute unfortunately. He said extremely upsetting things like he is not going to pay for her schooling and will send a miniscule amount per month (he is very wealthy and practically convinced friend to be a stay at home mum with no form of income) I said to her that thisnis finacial abuse and if this is serious and sticks then she has a right to an amount that keeps bub in the same level of living conditions she was in whilst together. I dont really want them to get back together to be honest, everyone wants them to split. But this isnthe opposite of the way to do it. And he has money to get a fancy lawyer in the case this goes to family court, whereas she does not.
I am scared that the situation is traumatic for bub and I dont know what I can do to make things better.
This is barely scraping the surface but any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.

2024.05.18 23:27 JustWatchin_007 Know your place EmPrEsS 🥴

B claims you've been so helpful to the LandO community but I see something very differently. Today the chat asked you to get out of a box because B was losing viewers. Why does that have to be considered rude? I didnt detect any lies actually. B had over 900 viewers before you helped yourself in a box. You then took over the live with your dump cake recipe and annoying voice. This was all during diaper changes which generally brings in over 1k viewers but you did a good job preventing that from happening. If you've been such an asset to the LandO community why isnt that page over 340k followers yet? People dont come to a monkey page to watch you. They come to watch the monkeys. Last I checked, you have your own TT page that isnt doing very well if I might add. Maybe you should focus less on harvesting followers and storefront sales from LandO and put more focus on your own page. Being the manager of a monkey page isnt working out too well for LandO. Also quit being so offended when someone calls you out for being the overbearing friend you are. It's not rude. It's TRUE and none of you can handle the truth.

2024.05.18 11:34 hlebaron94 4mo 4am Wake Up Help

My 4.5 month old has always been an early riser, but typically that was 5:30/6am. The past week or so, he’s decided that 4am is the perfect time for a full wake window.
For the most part, he will lay in his crib just chatting away to himself. Of course, I can’t sleep during this as I just lay there listening to him on the monitor. Occasionally, he gets very upset and I’ll go in for a feeding and/or diaper change. This doesn’t seem to help him fall back asleep though.
His room is fully dark, sound machine on, and we keep him in there until at least 6. Sometimes he gets himself to sleep again around 5:30, sometimes he gets worked up and needs to be held to sleep, sometimes he won’t fall back asleep again until 6:30 after my husband finally gets up and goes downstairs with him.
We try to follow wake windows during the day, and we’ve experimented with pushing his bedtime back to no avail.
Looking for any and all advice to break this habit. Thanks!

2024.05.17 06:27 Sweet-Designer5406 When does it become too late to start + advice?

I often have the “so what do you want to do” chat, with med students, particularly final years who have placements at the practice im at. They’re a mixed bag. Some have seemingly been gunning for something since they were in diapers, some are just finding their groove, some aren’t sure. Two questions for everyone:
1) Some of the students I get only decide to pursue a competitive SET specialty closer to the end of medical school (esp final year) or right after. They often ask if it’s too late to start. Especially when some of their peers have been grinding since day 1. What would you say? Is it too late, when does it become too late? As a GP reg I have no idea what it’s like these days and don’t really know what to say
2) For all of you consultants, reg’s and even junior doctors out there, what’s one piece of advice that you’d give senior med students/upcoming interns? Particularly something you may wish you had been told all those years ago.

2024.05.16 22:55 vousmevouyezz ABYG dahil iniwan ko sila kahit alam kong wala silang pera?

26F single mom to my 7years old son (not proud na nabuntis ng maaga wag gumaya), working since i was 16, and now earning 6digits a month.
now it's been a week. isang linggo na din akong walang socmed activity kasi naka deact na fb and messenger namin both ng anak ko, pati instagram. may feeling of disappointment parin ako hanggang ngayon, feel ko parin hindi nila ako nirerespeto kasi ginawa nila yung gusto nila without my approval and expects na okay sakin ang lahat, diko alam anong nangyari sa kanila and i'm having the urge to open my facebook account and messenger, yung sim ko din na ginagamit ko for friends and family tinanggal ko yung pang work lang yung gamit ko, i'm kinda feeling guilty kasi feel ko masama ako sa ginawa ko.
so AkoBaYungGago dahil iniwan ko sila knowing na wala silang pera?

2024.05.15 19:05 SuccessfulReward5216 Stolen or missing items at son's daycare

Hello I'm a mother of a two old happy boy I have been at this daycare since August but in Oct we left due to the feeling that the child was not getting properly cared for. We Uninfortunately had to go back as we have no vehicle and the other daycare canceled care on us after a month with no warning till the morning of Nov 5th monday at 12:32pm so we didn't show up that morning as the 3rd was his last day. So we brought him back to the other daycare in December had a few problems here and their Constantly coming home in dirty diapers. Dirty clothes with a dirty face and super thirsty. When we picked him up, come to find out that the Teacher did not offer any of the kids milk or Water during meals or throughout the day so the kids were Always thirsty. In February I decided to work their for a while till I got a job tried my best to take care of the kids but everything was so unorganized and Chaotic it was hard to provide the best care due to the teacher in the class and management some days didn't get my hour break or had to shorten it so the other teacher can leave at 2 so I get in by 1:50 to give her ten minutes to pack up and leave she sometimes stays to go in the baby room to chat with her sister and see her niece till 2:20. But then after I left in May to work somewhere else I kept him at that daycare and now their have lost his hat, snowpants, clothes, his sippy cubs, shoes and gloves. And the repeated keep losing his wipes and diapers and I noticed their were using it on another child. I have done the math and it total up to about $300 dollars worth of stolen, loss or missing items, I'm sick and tired of spending so much money constantly on new sippy cups or hats, shoes and clothes when I barely even make enough fir rent some times and I'm getting yelled at because the teacher keeps calling me a lier when in fact I'm telling the truth and I'm just sick of this treatment towards me and my son all because I'm a first time young mom. I'm just wondering if their is something I can do to make this better because I don't want to take him out of daycare but I also don't want to keep getting missed treated.

2024.05.15 17:41 como365 Food Bank Market embodies new trends in battling hunger

Food Bank Market embodies new trends in battling hunger
It takes more than food to end hunger.
That’s the core belief of Katie Martin, founder and CEO of More Than Food Consulting. Martin has dedicated three decades to research, consulting and organizing with food banks, pantries and community organizations to address hunger at its root causes.
“Food insecurity is rooted in poverty and systemic injustices that make it difficult for certain groups of people to be able to thrive,” Martin said.
Martin, who is based in Connecticut and works with food banks nationwide, advocates for food banks and pantries where those in need not only have access to healthier foods but also have the freedom to choose their own items, as well as encouraging organizations to include wraparound services such as health care and nutrition education.
In Columbia, this innovative model exists within The Food Bank Market, part of the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri. Open since November, The Food Bank Market goes beyond distributing food.
The recently built, multi-million dollar location has a grocery store-like structure. Those who use the service, whom The Food Bank Market refers to as “neighbors,” have the freedom to choose any item from a wide selection of food groups based on the size of their household.
Additionally, the market partners with various organizations like Chance for Children, the Spay and Neuter Project and Compass Health to provide health care, nutrition classes and aid in navigating resources.
“Food insecurity doesn’t happen in a bubble, and we know that when people are experiencing need for food, they’re probably experiencing need for other things as well,” said Katie Adkins, director of communications for the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri. “So we’re really lucky in that we have that space that can host some of those additional services.”
Through its newly created resource navigator, the Food Bank Market works to connect neighbors with services not provided on-site.
“If we have a neighbor who comes in and notes that they’re having challenges getting fresh nutritious food for their family, but they’re also having a hard time with transportation or they’re having a hard time getting diapers for their baby, our resource navigator can help them find different resources for each of those challenges that they might be facing,” Adkins said.
Martin said at least one other city has a model similar to the Food Bank Market, and others may be following. In Ohio, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank’s Community Resource Center connects the food bank with 14 non-profit partners, ranging from mobile aid to career counseling to affordable housing, to create a “one-stop shop” that tackles the root causes of food insecurity, according to its website.
The root causes of hunger are perpetuated by inadequate wages, underemployment and disinvestment in certain communities, said Alexandra Ashbrook, director of WIC and Root Causes for the Food Research and Action Center based in Washington, D.C. Particularly, Black, Latino and Native American families face the most disparity as “they may be experiencing multiple root causes at the same time,” Ashbrook said.
An additional step in achieving food security are federal assistance programs such as SNAP, WIC and Summer EBT, a debit card provided to children who qualify for free or reduced lunch to use at SNAP participating retailers during the summer. Advocates are hoping Congress will pass the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act of 2024, which is pending in the Senate. The act would “provide additional tax credits to about 16 million children and it would lift an estimated 400,000 children above the poverty line,” which is important as hunger and poverty go hand-in-hand, Ashbrook said.
Programs like SNAP provide an extra line of defense against hunger alongside food banks. According to Feeding America, a nationwide network of food banks, which includes the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, for every one meal provided by a partner food bank, SNAP provides nine.
“And these programs are the safety net that really helps improve food security and health,” Ashbrook said, “as fabulous as the charitable network is, they can’t solve hunger alone.”
While a variety of resources are available on both local and federal levels to address food insecurity, the stigma of using food service programs may turn people away from taking full advantage of them.
“I think as human beings, it’s hard to ask for help. It’s hard to accept help and there’s a lot of pride,” Martin said, “there’s kind of this old mentality of you pull yourself up by your bootstraps and you’re able to provide for your family.”
To combat the stigma, Martin encourages people who have used food services to share their stories. “I think the more that we can shed light on how much it impacts, I mean, it’s like 1-in-10 Americans are struggling with food insecurity. How can we break down those stereotypes and the ideas,” Martin said.
The Missourian attempted to get first-hand testimony about services at The Food Bank Market, but neighbors contacted at the Market were unwilling to speak. Talking about the challenge can be “really, really hard for people,” Adkins said.
Providing neighbors with a comfortable experience through The Food Bank Market is part of making asking for help easier.
“Any day that, you know, you can walk into the market and have a good shopping experience and then have somebody help you bag your groceries and chat with you a little bit or ask if there are other local resources we might be able to connect you with,” Adkins said, “we think that’s a good outcome.”

2024.05.14 23:13 FamilyRoleplayer [F4A] “Mama/papa what’s that?”

Hello there! My name is Alex and I’d like to do a slice of life urban (or urban fantasy) roleplay, with a toddler character (preferably played by me) and her one or two parents (played by you and/or me!).
For my credentials: I’ve been writing since I was 7 years old, and I’ve written a few proper short stories. I can write paragraphs, even on mobile, and I don’t ghost people. I primarily prefer playing on reddit or discord, but if you have another app I can give it a go!
I can write most genres pretty well, I’d like to think, except for sexual things. I’m terrible at that. I’m also Australian, so my Timezone will be different to you.
I’ve got a few ideas for a starting scenario, but that can always change depending on how we want it. This would primarily focus on world building, realistic child rearing, and the relationship between the main cast. I’d like to make our characters together so they all fit.
I like particularly dealing with anthropological things like how people are treated, how different ages are given different responsibilities and rules, what does wealth look like, etc. I like focusing on the nitty gritty. I like my characters being poor and working their way up, since I find that fun.
I’m fine taking it slow and chatting OOC as well! Just be literate and creative and hopefully we click!
Now, before I sign off. The toddler I would like to be around 18months/2years old, so it would probably have diapers at least mentioned. Like I said, I’m a realism player and I want to be as real as possible.
I’d love to hear your ideas as well!

2024.05.14 19:02 mang0_k1tty 3 questions about screen time

  1. Does video chatting with family count as ‘screen time’? I’d say no if otherwise the child does not have screen time, since it is interactive, but I feel like yes if the child has additional screen time for entertainment.
  2. Screen time with meals is widely known to be a big no-no, but what about music? Is there any reason music during meals could have negative impact on a child’s relationship with food?
  3. What could happen if one used a favourite video every time to get tasks done that cause a huge struggle? (Ex: diaper changing, brushing teeth, screaming in carseat 5 min before arriving home, not difficult mealtimes)

2024.05.14 08:47 Kitchen-Apricot1834 Parents not respecting my boundaries as a soon to be mother

TL;DR: My parents feel entitled to my unborn daughter and make comments/plans despite me or my sister asking them not to. My father is starting to get rather obsessive about his role as a grandfather. I made a list of boundaries, and the response was not promising.
UPDATE: I spoke with my mother over the phone about the boundaries. She did acknowledge that certain rules were probably added because of her (and she was spot on about which ones), and she stated "you and DH are the parents, so you guys get to decide what the rules are and your father and I have no say in the matter, regardless of how we feel." I thought that was very mature of her. She probably realized (because I said so in the boundary list) that if she tries her BS, she will lose visitation rights to her granddaughter. She acknowledged the consequences. We'll see how that goes.
As for my father, he never responded to the group chat where the list was posted. He texted my mother "where is all of this coming from? this is too extreme." *Sigh* 🙄. I just got off the phone with him and he tried to pretend he wasn't talking smack. I confronted him and he backpedaled and said "I'll learn my place and back off until you and your husband tell me to come over." Again, we'll see how that goes.
OP: Ever since I got pregnant, my parents have become obsessive. This is "their" baby, and they are entitled to spending all the time in the world with her. My father declared that he would take my husband's place at the birth (husband is overseas). My mother said she will move in and be her nanny/second mommy (she wants to raise her). I'm honestly super creeped out because it's gone from normally excited grandparents-to-be to obsessive behavior. My requests to change their behavior are constantly ignored.
My amazing sister is backing me up when my parents talk bad about me to her. She tells them that I want personal space and that I will not be having visitors for a while after the birth. In response, my father calls me selfish and says, "we'll see how long she lasts". He and my mother call me selfish and "un-motherly" because I will not rehome my snakes that they think will kill my baby and are vile creatures. They are in locked enclosures and are ball pythons, not anacondas. I have asked them numerous times to stop commenting on my pets. Ignored.
They constantly tell my sister how I don't know what I am doing and that I will listen to them once I realize I am way over my head. I tell them that I will ask for parental advice if I want it. Ignored.
My parents currently live in a different state, but my father is moving here a month before the due date so that he can "be a part of her life". He literally told the rental company that I will be at the house all the time with the baby and that I'll be storing my stuff there (what stuff?) and that he might have me move in with him at some point. I told him that I will be spending time with my husband and our baby, not being at his house all the time. Ignored.
He's already planning on making a nursery at his house and talking about how much time she'll be over at his place. How he's going to stockpile diapers in his garage. Every time he talks to someone, he's mentioning how he expects me to bring my daughter over all the time because I'm unemployed and "have nothing better to do". He wants me to get rid of my dog and move in with him and the baby (and just...forget my husband apparently). He calls my daughter the feminine version of his name. I've asked him to stop calling her that. Ignored. I ask him to stop suggesting I rehome my dog. Ignored. "You'll change your mind when you realize you're a mother".
I told my father not to expect much considering my husband is in the military and we're slated to PCS within a year. He told my sister earlier today that he will follow us wherever we end up to be with "his grandbaby". I am still processing hearing this.
Per my husband's suggestion, I created a long list of boundaries that I posted in the family group chat. This way, it is in writing so they can't claim they didn't know. I made it clear that these rules applied to anyone including family. My father did not reply, and I know he is fuming and will be saying crap behind my back to my mother and sister or maybe even confront me about it in a few days. My mother's reply? "I think this is acceptable." Excuse me? This isn't an option. I'm not asking for your approval.
I don't think they will take these boundaries seriously and will just ignore them like they have thus far throughout my pregnancy. I know my sister will have my back and defend me (she's a saint) and my husband has already said he has no problem confronting them when he gets back state-side. It was so easy to ignore them when they were living in another state, but now my father is moving 11 min away from me. My mother is planning on moving here as well (they're divorced).
I know people might suggest going NC. Not sure I'm mentally prepared for that. If I do that, I know I will lose my entire family except for my sister, as each respective side of the family adores my mom and dad. My husband already doesn't trust my father and is very much pro-NC or LC and thinks the boundary list will help me build a backbone to eventually cut contact in the future.
This whole situation sucks, and I feel so trapped.

2024.05.14 07:23 Plenty_Assist_7117 I finally let my intrusive thoughts win and I don't regret it

Last Sunday, I took my mom out along with some of my titas for a Mother's Day dinner. One of the titas brought her own mom along, which makes it the first time I've met auntie (auntie nalang kesa lola).
Over the course of the dinner, we were just chatting, exchanging updates blah blah when auntie asked how old I am.
"25 po", I answered.
"Ay nasa tamang edad na pala. Mag-asawa ka na", auntie said enthusiastically.
At this age I've already heard this comment a million times kaya sinasabayan ko nalang. "San po yung aasawahin? Nasa labas na po ba?" which made them laugh. I thought that was the end of it. Unfortunately, she really won't let it go. We'll move to another topic but she'll find a way to circle back to my single-ness.
Several exchanges would include:
Auntie: Sa ganyang edad, kasal na ko. Magpakasal ka na para mabigyan mo na ng apo yang mama mo. Maganda na naman trabaho mo, makakabuhay ka na ng bata. (I'm an only child)
Me: Ay nako, hindi ko pa po afford. Mga ganitong dinner pa lang po ang afford ko, hindi ko pa kaya gatas at diaper. (I paid for the dinner, Mother's Day eh)
Auntie: Sayang ganda mo kung di ka magkakaanak. Wag din naman kasi masyadong mataas ang standard.
Me: Ay auntie kayo na po nagsabi na maganda ako, sayang kung hindi ako pipili nang mabuti.
Auntie: Sige ka tatanda kang mag-isa niyan katulad nitong anak ko (referring to my tita, who brought her along)
Me: Okay na pong wala auntie, kesa mali. Hehe
On the drive back home, my mom also said auntie would still talk about how I should start dating na. I'm also grateful my mom has my back because she told auntie na she trusts me enough to know what's good for me and she's not rushing me.
I know auntie didn't mean to offend, it's just that that's how they were back in their day. Unfortunately auntie, iba na po ngayon and I appreciate your concern but I'm fine and I'll be fine :)
LOVE YOU, MUM! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY AND I'M GRATEFUL I DON'T HEAR THOSE KINDS OF COMMENTS FROM YOU!!
Edit: Natatawa ko sa comments na disappointed kasi it's so anti-climactic than what they expected. Sorry na guys, I wasn't out for blood, I just wanted my love life to be left alone hahahaha balitaan ko kayo pag may nabalibag na ko kakatanong kelan ako mag-aasawa. In the meantime, eto na bravest ko.

2024.05.14 01:21 General-Avokito My family forgot to invite me to mother's day on my first mother's day

Sorry for how long this is, I've got that ADHD trait where everything feels important for context. I'm also still trying to process everything.
So I (30F) just had my first baby six months ago. My dad passed away 12 years ago and I lost ties to his side of the family, partially because most my uncles (he has 4 brothers) live in different states and partially because my dad was the person to plan everything. So, most of my family I'm in contact with is my mom's family.
Typically, if my family invites me to family events or holidays they do so through my mom or my uncle (mom's brother) texts me or calls me. My mom, though, has been struggling with her mental health since my dad passed and the only people she really talks to are me, my brother (who lives with her), my grandma, and my great aunt. She occasionally interacts with her brother and sister. My grandma is your typical bitter, white, racist old lady and is kind of toxic toward my mom (she belittles my mom's feelings, usually places blame on my mom, plays clear favorites with her kids, etc.). So my mom has dealt with anxiety any time she's going to visit my grandma for holidays or to stay with her if she is having health issues or to watch my aunts house (she lives next door). My grandma lives about an hour from us. My mom lives 5 minutes away from me.
So the last few big holidays my mom didn't want to go to her house because of the anxiety, and as I had a newborn and was recovering from a c section (had the baby 11/19 so a week before Thanksgiving) we decided to do small holidays. For Thanksgiving I invited my mom to come over and she offered to cook Enchiladas (rather than a whole feast - which I was fine with). She brought the food over, her and my brother ate, but I wasn't hungry, yet, so I just hung out. She held the baby for a few minutes, then they both just left after the baby started getting a bit fussy. Didn't offer to help clean up, left the food on the stove (which was on) and left. I was still recovering from surgery and my partner had taken the opportunity to get some sleep since he didn't think I'd need help as my mom was there. So, I couldn't put the food away and just leave my crying newborn baby alone. Not to mention I wasn't stable enough on my feet because of where I was in my recovery. I don't remember what we did for Christmas, she did come by on her own (without my brother) and gave us gifts and hung out with the baby. She also came over one other time for a few hours to watch the baby so me and my partner could get some rest. She was at the hospital when I was in labor and after having the baby but didn't really do much to help except get me food and maybe help change a diaper. When we were discharged I told her not to worry about coming to the hospital but she was welcome to come to our house, but she said she didn't want to intrude and let us adjust to having the baby at home.
I text with my mom every few weeks and it's been clear for years that her depression has gotten pretty bad. If she talks about herself it is incredibly negative, or she is angry with everyone around her. I'm really the only one who sure hasn't been angry with. I've spent the past few years essentially being her only support system (next to my grandma and my brother - who is also battling his own mental health). I've also spent the last few years trying to get her to see a mental health professional.
She finally admitted she needed to address the anger she was having with my grandma and her incredibly low sense of self-worth. Over the last year or so I have been working with her to get her into a therapists office. I've found therapists that I think would be a good fit for her and contacted them on her behalf (I started by just sending her their contact info, but she kept coming up with excuses of why she hasn't, like she forgot to stop into the office of one she wanted to go to that was next to her masseuse or she was too anxious to call because she'll sound like an idiot). She didn't hear anergy back from them (but she also probably just didn't see any emails since her email inbox is so full with spam.) She finally asked her primary to see a psychologist and made an appointment. I texted her a week before mothers day just to check in with her to see how it went. Found out she got scammed (not from the psychologist) and it made her feel like she was dumb and couldn't do anything right. I did what I could do balance the line between comfort and trying to challenge her negative thoughts of herself. We didn't discuss mother's day.
Fast forward to the day before mother's day, my MIL's boyfriend invited me, my partner, our baby, my SIL and their grandma to breakfast on Saturday. (I also want to add, my MIL and her boyfriend watch the baby every weekend, they cleaned our house when I was in the hospital, then they helped us when we came home so I could shower and get check ups set up.) I still didn't hear back from my mom, so I texted her at 10am on Saturday asking if she wanted to go to breakfast on mother's day. During breakfast my MIL asked what I was doing and I told her I was planning to go have breakfast with my mom, but my partner had to work in the afternoon and didn't have anything else planned. I didn't hear anything back from my mom still, so when my MIL texted me that night (around 11pm) saying she wanted to see me to get pictures of me and my son on my first mother's day, I gave her my schedule and she told me to let her know a time in the morning. That night my son was up every two hours, so I didn't get any sleep until my partner took over around 4am. I woke up around 9:30ish and just ended up ordering breakfast. While we were eating we made a plan that while he was at work I would go see his mom and when he gets off we'd go thrifting then go roller skating (because mom's skate free on mother's day). I texted his mom times and everything was set. Then my mom finally texted me back saying happy mothers day and assuming I'd received an email inviting me to go to my grandma's house for mother's day. I had not, and told her. She said apparently I was left off the email my uncles fiance had sent (which she also was the first time - so I was left off multiple emails) and she said that it was an accident and that I was welcome, then asked if I had plans. I didn't think my uncle's fiance left me off intentionally, but I already had plans and told her this. Didn't hear anything for a few hours then realized I forgot to say happy mothers day and sent her another text doing so and that I love her.
I still haven't received back any response. I haven't heard anything from the rest of my family (except my brother on my dad's side who lives in another state and is completely unrelated to this). I did not go to the mother's day thing, I wasn't going to cancel the plans I already made and I wouldn't have had enough time to squeeze in a visit since it was an hour away and an hour back and would've been an all day thing. I'm incredibly disappointed and crushed, and really, really miss my dad. It was my first mother's day and the only one who put any kind of thought into it was my mother in law and my own family - my mom included - seems to consider me an after thought. They're supposed to be the ones to provide support and love through all of this. The janitor from my work sent me a happy mothers day, redditors I chat with who don't even know my fucking name wished me a happy mother's day, someone I just started talking to like 2 days ago wished me a happy mothers day, but my own family couldn't even send a text??? Ouch.
Sorry again for how long this is, I'm just kinda fucked up from the whole thing.

2024.05.13 21:19 doesitmatter_no The Endo Survival Guide

Several people have approached me that they might have endometriosis. Lifelong warrior so thought I would share my tips and tricks I put together for my friends and family to share with you :) Hope this helps someone!
ENDOMETRIOSIS SURGERY FACTS
ENDOMETRIOSIS LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY (WHAT TO EXPECT)
PRE-SURGERY
POST-OP PREP
SPACE PREP
  1. Make sure your bed or couch is prepped. I stayed on the first level for the first 2ish days before feeling well enough to stay upstairs.
  2. I used a pregnancy pillow on the bed to help me stay on my back while sleeping and help you feel cozy.
  3. Stock the house with foods that will be light for your stomach. Think soups and casseroles! Saltine crackers, broths, rices etc..
  4. If you have a raised bed, get a step stool to assist. It’s best to sit on the side of the bed and slowly lay your upper body down while bringing your knees up and over to your back. You will need to use arm strength the first couple of days to get you up and over since you can’t use the abdomen.
  5. Water and Beverages stocked at all times. I have a reusable water bottle and avoid carbonated beverages for the time being. They fill you with gas for the procedure so it may make those symptoms worse.
  6. Netflix, Kindle, Puzzles, Craft Projects…visits with friends. Whatever makes the time pass, set it up ahead of time so it’s handy.
  7. Items to Keep on Hand: Baby Wipes, heating pads, pads/diapers, candles, essential oils, things that smell good haha
BOWEL PREP
This is dependent on the type of surgery you are having, but its good to have Gatorade, Magnesium Citrate (liquid), laxatives and enemas on hand just in case you need these.
ON SURGERY DAY
It’s important to follow the instructions on what to stop taking and/or eating/drinking prior to the surgery. Wear comfy clothes (wide elastic waistband) and slides with cozy socks. Double check your to go bag and breath.
AT THE HOSPITAL
  1. Do your check-ins and keep your people with you as long as you want.
  2. Make sure to read all the consent forms and ask any questions upfront. Make any advance directives clear.
  3. Just try to remain calm as there’s a lot of down time while they do intake. It is about 2 hours of prep before they bring you in for the surgery itself.
  4. They will ask you the same questions over and over again, that’s normal and trust me, you want to confirm it’s all being done properly.
  5. If you need something for anxiety, they will be sure to give you something if you ask :)
  6. You will be wearing a gown, socks, funky underwear and a cool hair net haha wear the gown backward so you keep warm and keep the butt covered.
  7. Vitals will happen and the anesthesiologist will come and speak with you to make sure they prep the right meds beforehand. Bring up any concerns here with them!
  8. You may be wheeled or walked into surgery. I’ve only ever walked in and laid on the table myself.
  9. They will then put the IV in your arm and sometimes will put on a mask, they will then ask you to count backwards and before you know it, you will be awake again!
RECOVERY
ENDOMETRIOSIS MAINTENANCE
Here’s the tips and tricks I found helpful for maintaining my pain and symptoms (GI and back pain related):
  1. Pelvic Floor Therapy: This is important for keeping the muscles in your pelvis healthy and strong to maintain your structure and also help manage pain. Consult with your doctor on whether this is right for you.
  2. Physical Therapy: I do PT for my back and pelvic floor since it’s all related. We focus on Myofascial Release Therapy to help break up the adhesions and give me more mobility. This helps with temporary pain relief (reduction in number), but that is always welcome :)
  3. Acupuncture: I swear by Acupuncture. I don’t know what it does or why, but it works. It’s not a cure by any means, but it's great for relaxation, fertility, digestion, endometriosis, sleep, etc.. I can go on, but it’s not covered by insurance plans all the time so you will need to check and see what you’re able to take on.
  4. Diet/Exercise:
    1. Eating high protein, lower fat/carbs (not none just low) helps your body, but overall learn your trigger foods! This will go a long way.
    2. Ginger, turmeric and fennel all help with bloating. I like to drink them in tea form when I’m feeling particularly hard stomached as it’s a good natural way to decrease the bloat. Peppermint also works for some, for me it irritates my GERD.
    3. Chamomile for relaxation
    4. Walking and movement are important. I cannot do anything high impact due to my sacroiliitis diagnosis, so I stick with light yoga and walking.
  5. Alcohol/Other Substances: Don’t do it. Don’t touch it. You’ll thank me later on this point.
  6. Sleep: Insomnia is a very real thing. I think I went 2 or 3 days at its worst one time and I cannot say enough how important trying to keep the same sleep schedule will benefit you. Waking and sleeping around the same time each day will still feel exhausting but at least you know your body is getting the most sleep it can get.
  7. Medications/Supplements:
    1. Ibprofuern: This does NOT work for me. I have GERD and ulcers so I cannot take NSAIDs, but with that in mind, NSAIDs are supposedly the best pain medication over the counter to help you manage it.
    2. Pain Killers: These are AS NEEDED. I try to refrain and leave these for the TRULY bad days which I try to spread out. Not even worth it sometimes, because I don’t like how I feel and sometimes vomit after taking them. But they do help the pain!
    3. IUD/Orilissa: An IUD will NOT do anything. If you are diagnosed, ask your doctor about Orilissa or similar medicines instead of birth control methods. This will not stop the growth, just suppress it. There are side effects and it is only a short term solution.
    4. Linzess: This worked well for me for constipation symptoms when they got severe. Definitely recommend bringing this to your doctor if you’re truly suffering and they have not yet mentioned. I also resorted after trying magnesium citrate
    5. CBD Lotions/Salves: For my pelvis, I use Healing Rose CBD Salve in Orange and Lavender (https://www.thehealingroseco.com/product/orange-lavender-with-chamomile-herbal-salve-300mg-cbd/). For my back, I use a medical grade CBD lotion with menthol (https://cbdclinic.co/clinical-strength-series/). I also use a CBD massage oil from Healing Rose of the same scent when doing myofascial release at home. I also use Somedays Cramp Cream (https://somedays.com/products/period-cramp-cream?variant=42062153842853).
  8. Heating Pads and Ice Pack: I have several varieties of heating pads. A cordless travel heating pad (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09FPTJL4G?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details), a plug-in heating pad (lhttps://www.hsn.com/products/pure-enrichment-purerelief-xxl-heating-pad-with-9-cord/22188460) and stick on patches (https://www.thermacare.com/ - I use the back patches but reverse them to the front for better coverage). For hot flashes and night sweats (also if you need to relax while anxious) place an ice pack over your chest to help cool or calm down.
  9. Self-Care: No joke, massages, facials, epsom salt baths, sound baths, reiki….anything that you find relaxing. Do it. Try it! They also make CBD bath bombs Ive been wanting to check out.
  10. TENs Machine: I really want one, don’t have one, but people swear by them (the heating pad linked to MyObi has a TENs version - https://myobistore.com/en-us/collections/my-obi-belts/products/apollo-2-0).
  11. Pregnancy Pillow: This one sounds so lame, but I bought a pregnancy pillow for my first endometriosis surgery since I’m a side sleeper to help keep me on my back during recovery. It changed by life! It helps my anxiety and makes me comfortable while sleeping. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08YYVRXLM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1)..
  12. Heated Blankets/Cozy Blankets: Make yourself feel better with a cozy blanket. Do it, I dare you!
  13. Endo To-Go Bag: Includes heating pads (travel, plug-in and patches), medications, balms/salves, essential oils and pads/protection items, change of clothes, wet wipes.
  14. Sex Life: I’m single, I don’t have a partner to worry about communicating this issue with at this point, but go slow and communicate given eventually this will have to be a conversation. What I have learned is that if you do have sex and feel pain. Immediately stop! If you associate sex with pain mentally in that moment, it may cause fear in doing so down the line so it’s best to stop the moment you feel any pain occur.
  15. Work Life: I work a demanding job so it was not working with the appointments and care I needed to manage pain. Always get FMLA from your doctor for intermittent leave based on your company's policies. This protects you from flare-ups and appointments. Short Term Disability is based on your situation with work so talk with them about any leave of absence for surgery and recovery and ensure the medical providers fill out the paperwork appropriately.
  16. Friends/Family: This one is the worst. I have to cancel and make plans all the time based on how I feel. I like to line up a bunch of plans for three months out and do my best to make them happen at the beginning of the month when I know I’m most likely to feel good. I just say I’ll make things up to them when I get better and those who have stuck around have been truly amazing friends, but don’t be upset that some might be over the day in and out of what you’re going through. It’s hard for you and sometimes others and it’s just a part of the relationships we’re meant to experience in life. Most people (unless they have endometriosis) don’t understand it so it can feel isolating, but there’s others out there who know what you’re going through and are willing to chat. Just gotta find them and reach out on social media, online etc..
  17. Journaling Symptoms: Guilty of not being the best at this always, but it's good to track your symptoms to see how they work and operate. It helps not only you plan for it, but also your doctors in how best to handle your care. Take photos of things that make sense to show your doctors! Discharge, bowels etc..can sometimes help diagnose or judge with the images.
  18. Next to Bed Kit: Make sure your nightstand is stocked with the essentials for your bad days. Makes it easier to access the items you need when you just can’t get up and get it.
  19. Squatty Potty: Another thing that is majorly life changing on constipation days! Get one or you can make your own :) Take a stack of books and stack them at equal heights on each side and put your feet up. The trick is making sure you’re in a squat with your knees high to your ears.
  20. Clothing: Dressing for this is key but you still want to look cute! Joggers with a stretchy waist are my go to pants, but wide leg trousers with a stretchy waist help with ease of removal but also comfort and brings some style to the look.
  21. Pads: I wear Always Discreet vs. pads. I find when you need to wear them full time for incontinence it just makes it more comfortable. They have different cuts and styles so definitely check them out!
