Looking for recommendations for a smallish (3.5-4in) folding knife (I think).
The main purpose would be to use in emergency situations where I need to cut my dogs loose from their dual harness walker in the case they are attacked.
If your dog is attacked by another dog, the recommendation is usually to drop the leash so the dog doesn't get tangled up and can more freely extricate itself from the situation. Where my problem comes in is that I have 2 dogs, and walk them using a dual walkeleash. So, in addition to being attached to me by the leash, they're also attached to each other. In an emergency situation I don't necessarily have time to unhook one or both of them, and if a situation is already in progress, I don't want to have to reach my hand in the middle of a fight between dogs to try and unhook them.
Unfortunately, in my neighborhood, there are a number of people who don't regularly leash their dogs, as well as a number of people who have large, aggressive dogs that they can't control. My dogs have been attacked 3 times in the last 2 years (and had a number of other near misses). So I don’t know where I’m going with this, but I’m hoping someone understands so I don’t sound crazy. I am 19 years old and a female. Okay buckle up. This is going to be a long and complicated tale. Context is necessary. Apologies in advance.
I met my now girlfriend 3 years ago while travelling. We started off as friends in an amazing group of friends. My attraction for her was immediate and strong. All of us friends took a few road trips and went to a lot of parties. This is where we started, just dancing together and kissing and often ending the night cuddling and sleeping. There came a point where I wanted to initiate sex. She said to me “no we have such a nice vibe in the group and I don’t want that to change. We can make out and cuddle but I don’t want to have sex with you” this was fine with me, I agreed and we continued like that for months. She said things like “well played, you kept texting me when you were fucking her and when it didn’t work out with her you had me as your second choice” (while laughing), “I don’t want to have sex or be with you like that” “all you want is sex”
I have to say; I don’t only want sex. Sometimes it happens but she wanted to every time. If she says she doesn’t want to, we won’t have sex. I just want to be there for her. I don’t know why she thinks I just want her for sex. Surely she knows I care about her deeply given all of the experiences we have gone through together.
Both of our feeling are valid but she seems to be able to throw this relationship very easily which is hurtful!
Saving the relationship would be ideal but I at least want to continue to be there and support her in whatever way I can. She’s so incredibly important to me and I don’t know how to navigate such a new situation especially when my partner is grieving. What should I do in this situation?

Apollo entered interspace and saw Aquas and Nash at the door. “Are you ready to lose, Aquas?” Helios gloated. “Your arrogance will be your downfall, Helios. I fight for a cause greater than personal glory. You are an obstacle in its way.” Aquas nobly retorted. The two brawlers entered the arena. It was a swampy marsh and fans were screaming wildly. “If you haven’t noticed, my beasts prefer the scenery. Well fight 3v3. Since I challenged, I’ll start us.” He said as he took his blazer off. His chains gleamed in the sunlight. He put an ornate Aquos gauntlet on his wrist. The crowd screamed Nash’s name. Apollo was in a red sleeveless shirt, he wore black jeans with white red and black Jordan 1s and a belt with his clips on. He tapped his glasses and the mask formed around his face. The entire crowd was screaming their names. “Head on, Helios.” Apollo said. “Time to slay this Dragon, Nash.” Aquas said.
“Welcome, Sir. Synchronizing Battle Data. Battle ready, Good Luck.” His AI said to him.
“Bakugan fieeeeeeld Open!” The announcer said
“Gauntlet Power Strike!” The two brawlers each had their Gauntlets glow blue and purple.
“I’ll start!” Nash said “Gate Card Set! Bakugan Brawl! Bakugan Stand! Go Aquos Krakenoid!” Krakenoid rose from the depths and roared. “Bakugan Brawl! Bakugan Stand! Go Pyrus Plitheon!” “Time for a fish fry!” He cackled “Ability Activate! Stash Raider! I now choose seven cards from Krakenoids ability pool to remove from the match. He removed Hydro Tyrant, Abyss Blade, Abyss Rising, Marine Mauler, Tidal Barrier, Screw Serpent, and Tentacular Destroyer Nash laughed as his Gauntlet, a peculiar but extremely ornate take on a Vestal Bakumeter, shined blue. “Ability Activate, Deep Charger! Your Plitheon can’t do stuff like that anymore!” Krakenoids tentacles wrapped around Plitheon and he siphoned his power with blue electricity. “Double Ability Activate! Fly Destroyer plus Fly Blazer!” Plitheon flew at Krakenoid in a flaming tornado and slashed him with his claws, burning him to 500 Gs. “Take that, Squidward!” He cackled. Apollo formed Nukix Gear. “Oh yeah, it’s time. I haven’t worn one of these in forever!” “Ready, Nukix.” His Gauntlet Said “Battle Gear Boost!” Plitheons wingspan doubled in size and four smaller wings formed on top of Nukix main wings as a tower of weapons, each side had missiles and laser guns. “Oh yeah! Sushi time!” He cackled at Krakenoid “Ability Activate! Blitz scoundrel! I can shatter your Gate Card, giving Plitheon a power level with one of my own!” “Give me that, HAH!” Plitheon formed a blazing chain as he threw it into the Gate Card, and slid one of Apollos in. “Re Rigged boss!” “Now Gate Card Open! Pyrus Reactor… My Gate Card!” “So hasty! Consecutive Ability activate! Metal Ripper plus Shark Drake Veiss Plus Wise Deluge Plus Hydro Cannon!” Krakenoid roared with energy and grew double his original size. He let a wave of Aquos light ripple from his body and Plitheon couldn’t respond to abilities. His body became slowly covered in metal as he ripped Nukix from Plitheons body. Then Krakenoid pulsed with energy as he formed a gigantic water ball of energy and fired a torrent of water surrounding a blast of white lance of energy in the similar shape of a stingray at Plitheon, shattering the Gate Card. Neither Brawler had one, and now both players life gauges had 75%. Both Plitheon and Krakenoid were at a power level of two. Plitheon got up, with only 20 Gs remaining. “Boss, I need help.” He pleaded. “Ability Activate! Cunning Inferno!” Plitheon smiled and his eyes turned to flames, he then charged a huge fireball in his chest Diamond and released the energy, Giving Apollo a three turn stall. Krakenoid roared in disapproval and Nash was sarcastically chuckling “You’re stalling, Sayer. You’re actually stalling I must have you on the ropes, heh.” Nash formed Jamsaber on his Gauntlet. “Bakunano Jamsaber! Destroy!” Krakenoids Bakunano appeared and he slashed Plitheon, who now had no Gear, with its shuriken blades. The three turns limit slashed Plitheon each turn to 5 Gs “Now finish him Krakenoid!! Fusion Ability Activate! Shark Drake Leviathan!” Krakenoid quadruples in size and exploded in Aquos power, he was the size of a Skyscraper, as he roared and filled the entire arena with water, electrifying it with powerful energy, and engulfing Plitheon in a gigantic tsunami. His Bakunano and half metal body from metal ripper pulsed with rings of red chaotic Aquos energy as Krakenoid roared in triumph, it was so loud it sounded like a volcano was erupting. Plitheon returned to Ball form, Apollos life gauge went down to 25% and the crowd chanted Nash’s name. Plitheon was steaming. “Boss, im taking a long nap. I got washed..” he said as he returned to ball form “Not so tough, are you now!” He scoffed. Apollo was down, Nash’s lead was extremely large. “We’ll see, fool!” He said “Im done playing! Gate Card set! Bakugan Br…SHIT!” He reached for Pyrus Reptak, but he wasn’t there. Apollo had Twenty Five percent on his life gauge and only Helios left. Nash had all three Bakugan. “Hah! You’re actually missing a Bakugan! I thought this would be challenging!” He sneered. “You have seen nothing yet, Nash. Bakugan BRAWL! Bakugan Stand! End this! Pyrus Infinity Helios!” Helios roared in triumph “You will Burn!” Nash was just as angered “I’ve seen enough, rookie!! Bakugan Brawl Bakugan Stand! Come forth Aquos Krakenoid!” Krakenoid roared, sitting at a power level of two. “Ability Activate! Clamor Quasar!” Helios charged a blast of bolting red energy and shot it at Krakenoid, Burning him for 500 Gs. “There’s the fire! Wise Torrent! I choose to bring in another Aquos Bakugan! Come forth Aquos Frosch!” Krakenoid wriggled his arms and the field turns into water, he dragged The Legendary Aquos soldier Frosch out of the depths and onto the field. Frosch croaked with recognition. “Two on one, what happened to playing fair, hah? Helios! Bolting Breaker plus Battle Warrior!” Apollo pointed at Frosch and Krakenoid. “Time to fry! Aquos foolsl Helios roared and gained 400 gs, then formed a red ball of burning energy and electrocuted each of his opponents. “If you think fighting a legendary soldier will be easy, you’re sorely mistaken! Now Frosch! Consecutive Ability! Swap Frog Plus Neptune Stream plus Elemental Ocean!” Nash was now visibly pressured. The arena then pulsed with water and both players stood on top of a raging ocean. Frosch croaked loudly and Plitheon flew out of Apollos used pile. Froschs G-Power then changed to Plitheons base. “Swap frog allows Frosch to change Gs with a defeated Bakugan:Your Plitheon!” Frosch then opened his mouth and clapped his webbed hands, shooting a gigantic stream of water at Helios. “Reinforce Krakenoid! Dwellers Gaze!” Krakenoid roared in recognition and stared onto the Gate Card, pyrus reactor was forced open and all Bakugan got the same G Bonus. “Now Helios! We can end him!” Helios growled “With Pleasure!”. “You fell into my trap! Strontium Railstar!” Apollo laughed with determination as Helios charged a blast of energy and fired a white hot, straight red laser blast through Krakenoid and into the card. “He just shattered his own Gate Card!” Aquas was confused, but Krakenoid wailed in agony and returned to ball form and Nash’s life gauge went down 25 Percent. “Not only did I just shatter my own Gate Card, but your Krakenoid is now removed from the battle, and we can take Frosch easier! Counter Helios! Darkflare Alloy Plus Deep Fire-Block A!” A purple and red field of energy surrounded Helios as he changed to dual type Pyrus and Darkus, then he spun his back turbine and a constant volley of red and purple energy bullets rained down on the Legendary Soldier. “Deep Fire Block A will also take 300 Gs from Frosch each turn!” Apollo chuckled. “You should be eating your words Neathian! Because we both know that’s what you are!” Helios gloated at Nash. “Well Save proper introductions for later! Double Ability Activate! Dark Growth and Aquos Cyclone!” Frosch croaked and changed to dual type Darkus/Aquos and then the clear watery field turned into a gigantic whirlpool. “Hold on Helios!” Apollo yelled trying to weather the hurricane. “Ability Activate! Ghost Quasar!” Helios formed a spinning white ball of fire that crackled with red lightning and shot it at Frosch. “Choke on this, overrated Frog!” Helios cackled at Frosch as the legendary warrior returned to Ball form, the two brawlers were now at even life gauges. “We’re even now, those words taste any different?” Apollo laughed at Nash. “If you think that’s all I had to offer, you’re stupider than I ever expected.” Nash chuckled as he threw Saint Aquas into the air. “Ready Aquas?” Nash said. “For the ark, partner!” Nash threw his Gate Card “Gate Card Set! Bakugan Brawl!” Saint Aquas rolled onto the card and opened, his wings hadn’t opened yet, signifying some kind of form change. “Bakugan Stand! Come forth, Defender of the Ark! AQUOS SAINT AQUAS!” A dragon with shielded wings and brilliant, shining sapphire scales that reflected sunlight off of them appeared onto the field. “I will defend the Honor of the Kastle Legacy until my last breath!” He roared in triumph, standing at 1000 Gs. “Bakugan Brawl! Bakugan Stand! Finish him Pyrus Infinity Helios!” Helios was standing at a Power Level of 3. “No rain could douse the flames that burn within me!” He roared. “You will find this soon enough, Aquas!” Helios was filled with rage. “Let’s test that, brigand!” Aquas growled. “Aquas!Ability Activate! Deep Beyond!” Nash said as the field turned back into an ocean of blue water. “Only Cowards Stall, Nash!” Helios roared with anger. “You’re on the ropes now, clown! Frenzy Blaster Plus Battle Warrior!” Apollo was also visibly annoyed at the one turn stall. Helios fired a flurry of Pyrus shots from his turbine and then roared as he released a shockwave of flames all over the field. “Counter Aquas! Virtue Stream!” Aquas roared and charged a rainbow energy blast, one eerily similar to the perfect core, and fired a torrent of rainbow energized water at Helios. “Double ability activate! I had a full on melt down today just now. My boyfriend encourages me to keep everything inside and to not cry, so I can’t even be myself or show my true feelings towards him. I’m so stuck on the idea that we have to be together because I’m pregnant with his child. I always fear what people with say about us. I’m 18, American, and Hispanic and he’s 40 and African and barely speaks English to the degree I do. I really want to deny the fact that I’m Hispanic, because I’ve always felt like I had to suppress that side of me. I went to a majority white school and I would just look at the white girls and wish that I was them. I know I’ve been discriminated against because of my race before. I was even targeted by the police in my neighborhood and they knew me by name and for some reason they would try and keep tabs on me. It’s really weird. I can’t pinpoint exactly but I definitely had a target on my back for some strange reason. And even the staff at the school I went to would try and target me and say negative things about me despite the fact that I literally only cared about doing well in school and I would always read for fun and was shy. It’s like I let other people’s opinions and expectations of me get the better of me. I just don’t know what happened to me. My sister is actually a diabolical narcissist who only takes advantage of me for her benefit. She must of got it from my mom. They both used to make fun of me growing up. I never felt seen accepted or comforted with my family. My dad has seen how they treated me and just didn’t do anything which always broke my heart because I knew that he could and instead let that determine my worth because he treats me like shit all the time. My self esteem and worth was literally destroyed by my family. I’ve been dismissed in almost every single way. Just a couple months ago I was destroyed by a guy who I didn’t even like thought was short and ugly. Like literally! He was way shorter and smaller than me. But then he made me feel seen and like someone cared about me and he didn’t talk to me. The whole time I should’ve known what he was doing and what he was after. I’m so heartbroken. And this was during my relationship but I guess I’m just so desperate for attention and love I know I deserve I just try to get it in other places. Meaning we both have much to learn about ourselves and our beliefs and reactions and intentions and what we hold sensitive in our mind (true colors) from this event. My intentions were good but my communication and topic was bad. However big or small this issue and our emotions that occurred, we can debrief and learn more about the traumas that our cellular memory holds and causes us to choose to act a way.
Could there be reason why I let dinner slip by my mind? I told you the day before I don’t know why I don’t feel like cooking. Much resistance. You then were angered by my lack of responsibility and care for you, under the principle of respecting your wishes. Which is fine. Until you said you’re ordering food, which again is crossing over a boundary that we set together about deleting Grubhub and not spending on unnecessary stuff and choosing sensible financial literacy. This felt like you forcing my hand, as in “I don’t care how you feel, what you’re trying to communicate to me now, or what we’ve agreed on before, I’m going to do whatever I want to get what I want”. I understand it was your only choice.
When I asked the question over text I sincerely meant it in your benefit. I presented you with the fact that discipline over your flesh is the starting point for any significant journey of change, and that hunger is the first thing that I suggested you can and should have will over. Although you don’t now, Even in the past after eating your portion and bites of my half you say “I don’t know why I keep eating” and it pains me to see you look in the mirror and cry. It’s been a huge point between us that you needed to eat all you can get as a child cause your sisters would take it all. yet you let the urge control your actions for nearly 1000 meals in the past 2 years hearing my pain, help, advice, and frustration, yet seldom deciding to make lasting committed change.
It’s not about your health or weight or how I view you physically, it’s about your willingness to change and turn from you giving so much importance to your urges and principles. My intention was to present you a chance to choose the virtue of discipline over your urges. I made the broccoli cheddar you wanted, and it was sitting on the table right outside the door ready to eat, and I was going to bring it in no matter what, but the conversation took a huge emotional surge that I maybe should have anticipated. It was a small bid to ignore the urge that's been paining you, that might have been a little unfair to present to you uninformed in a serious manner, but such is life. I have recognized many chances for myself to choose to grow and would like to create them for you too. All I was looking for was an honest “no I can’t go without dinner tonight” or “yes I hear you but it seems unhealthy to me” and either way I was going to bring it in for us. However it seems I went about it wrong. Withholding from you was unfair and an unnecessary surprise to open a discussion about discipline over your urges. It led you to feel the need to fight to be understood which i never want between us.
But you let your focus and your will be taken over by your emotions, and entirely go to “you must understand me and my pain and how this is unfair and wrong and you make me feel terrible and you would let me starve and do you think I’m fat?” rather than respond to my request that which I asked for a response as a return for the favor of cooking at request, and show me your willingness to change. I understand that eating is a basic right and you are my responsibility to take care of and I never would withhold from you as some sort of power dominance show. I love who you are no matter what. I am not motivating you to lose weight
Skipping a meal is not a huge deal, but being able to choose to skip a meal against all urges and trauma is a huge deal because it’s training your will, acting out of virtue than desires of the flesh. After I failed to give you the sense that I understood you and you failed to answer my first question without trying to convince me through your frustration, I kept going and triggered you touching a sensitive nerve. I’m sorry I had to bring it up for you in a way where you felt overwhelmed and frustrated and such. but such is healing. ❤️‍🩹 you think that running from pain will make things okay, but you’ve been running for years, and you haven’t chosen day to day to face down your own process, whatever that looks like for you. it could have been anything for discipline, you are disciplined in your schoolwork, but hunger corroborated with a lot that I’ve experienced and read before about rising above urges or “mind over matter”. Of course life is the best teacher. I test your virtues in this painful point subconsciously because it is something I’ve seen you be chained to for years. It was meant to be playful, and just a one question exchange, and then relief of a shared meal. But the one question had the power for you to take the step you needed to take. I don’t believe it was executed poorly, and I don't believe it's wrong for me to give you opportunity to choose a new path outside of your unintentional habits out of the blue. I just think we both became too defensive in fighting to be understood, we failed to meet values and consequently I slept on the couch.
I ate the dinner beside you immediately after you turned away. I apologized and at the end of my apology I told you that I’m glad you weren’t eating this pasta anyways because it’s heavy and sticking to my gut. And you asked “what do you mean sticking to your gut” and I said “it’s just heavy and I feel it in my stomach”. Or maybe that happened in the morning. And maybe you fell asleep before my apology.
Telling people a limited view without understanding my perspective on the personal conversation and my actions and intentions of giving you a chance to choose discipline before posting, that I articulate myself with complex verbiage and we share bits and pieces of esoteric literature that we’ve read with each other, our dynamic, that I’ve never experienced your eating disorder or that you haven't brought it up before when discussing diet and food, not bringing up the 364 days I have made dinner allowing people just to focus on the bad, and labeling it "told me to not eat dinner" feels like ragebait and seeking for justice akin to wanting to cut your ex’s balls off for wronging you. They don’t know the history of us and the full scope of our dynamic situation.

Hello everyone im a 17 year old boy from Zimbabwe and i recently began getting into poetry this past week with 0 prior (and current) knowledge, so far i have read 3 poems (Ozymandias by Percy Bysshe Shelley, Porphryas lover by Robert Browning and the Rape of Lucrece by Shakespeare) which I thought they were amazingly written and i was wondering if anyone is able to help by telling me how to get good at writing quality poems like these and all of you amazing poets. Idm how long the process is as i've become very interested and intend on becoming great at it though hardwork and dedication which is how i've got good at most things and come to learn its the only way to become great! (Additionally through my research -which didnt help all that much evidently- before coming to reddit to ask these questions i read something about annotating poems, pls can someone explain how i can be able to do this in depth and not have my annotations be completely wrong so I can get good at that aswell, if its not too much trouble ofc).

I (24F) have been dating officialy this guy (25M) since december. For context, these days have been really rough to me due to my mother being really sick in the hospital, she has a very advanced tumor and this week she almost past away, she's still recovering very slowly
I am normally a very emotional person, very expressive with my feeling, i cry a lot, and i feel like i usually have some of an "anger" issue. My boyfriend is an extremely evitative personality due to him basically living alone for years. The few fights we've had have always started with me being upset about an action of his, or pressuring him to tell me what bothered him. he immediatly goes, we're not doing this, we're not fighting, I try to make him understand I'm not fighting.
I want to try to talk things before we actually fight, when things are getting tense, but since the times we actually fought it starts with me nervious, when he sees me in that state he just closes up so i wont get worse, becasue he hates fighting. He doesnt understand that it makes me feel worse, since he kind of ignores me to stop the "fight", and then tells that he's done it beacuse "there's no argue with me in that state" "you dont listen to anything where you're nervous". We've still come to the conclussion before that to avoid this fights, we should talk before things get outta hand.
Last night I came home, extremely tired from being 11 hours in the hospital, and having to wake up early next morning to go again; i came home to my BF starting a 40 minute game with his friend (who he's always playing with, and could've played with before i got home) And I said with a bad tone, i admit: "omg you just started a game for real why do i text u when im i coming home in advanced". I usually dont give a fuck when he plays, i game a lot too, but i really wanted to use the limited time i had that night to spend it with him. he didnt say anything rest of the game
i tried to rub it off by making some coments about my day but he kinda ignored them and finish the game. i told him to kiss me hello when he finished, he gave me the side cheek. he ignored me for five minutes until I tried to call his attention to which he said: Yes im mad why would you yell at me you know i hate it; I'f you're gonne be like this I dont wanna know anything... All in front of our roomate, who is a very close friend and obviously im telling him everything later, but i feel superuncomfortable having a fight right in front of him.
So i tell my BF can we talk about this privately? And he sais there's nothing to talk about. Obviously he was right that i shouldnt have talk to him like that, but I woul've loved an opportunity to tell him. Even more after we discussed to talk things before they get outta hand. I know I'm at avery bad spot right now, but I also know its absolutely no excuse. Anyways since he doesnt come to talk I go to another room to smoke and I hear my roomate leaving, So I go down to talk with my BF. The mountain will go to Mahoma right?
I try to talk with him, I obviously apologize for what i said; he basically says that I already know that he doesnt stand this behaviour, I obviously start crying, im exausted, I only wanted to be with him and I said a nasty coment, so I feel guilty, sad... And suddenly he tells me he's leaving. he was going to call his mother on the phone and there a big time difference so it had to be at night. He had told me 10 minuts ago what are we cooking for dinner? So obviously this scene triggered him enough to leave me alone. We' ve been basically unofficially living together for some months now, so for him to leave all of the sudden with such a bad excuse...
Even more in a bad moment for me like this, He is what I needed the most these days, and I've only seen him half of the nights, wich is weird since we always sleep together... This triggered me so hard, I went nuts... I cried to him to please stay i really needed him, I wanted to talk things out, but he refuses to talk to me when im nervous crying. I hyperventilate a lot, i understand I seem so bad but I can think and talk, it feels like hes overjusging me.
Anyways after he told me he was leaving i pushed him kinda hard. I was feeling all of the rage I've built up this disastrous week. he wasnt even close to falling or crashiong, or anything obviuosly, but its still one of the worst things I've ever done. I started apologyzing, crying extremely heavy, We started fighting, i begged him that we could say goodbye on a good note, which we kinda did, and talked to see each other tomorrow.
I feel awful, but i don't feel like fault is enterily on me? Maybe I'm fooling myself and I made a problem out of thin air? We had barely see each other this last days, he's my boyfriend and I feel in this kind of days I'm going through I just need a bit of understanding on his side...

Perhaps because the two men are practically carbon copies of each other.
But between the two characters, I honestly think Wallach is the more interesting one.
If only because I think he's the worse person and the bigger fool.
To recap Wallach's actions during [IL Siracusano]...

Silent Raindrops (IS-1 After)

His introduction is speaking with Rubio over the phone. He condescends to Rubio (citing "I have to break the bread of fellowship with a guy like you" as a humiliation rather than a pleasure). He speaks highly of his Columbian mafia's tactics of setting matters under the table with government officials rather than always resorting to violence. But he also claims violence is a necessity, implies that he can't threaten violence against the minister of transportation because of Bellone's protection, and insinuates a threat of violence against Rubio should the small man disobey him.

The Honorable (IS-2 After)

Wallach insults Giovanna to her face for spending so much time writing plays instead of leading their famiglia. When Giovanna basically dares him to challenge her authority, he falls back upon flattery.
Wallach informs Giovanna of Minister Carracci's death and of Cellinia Texas' reappearance. He's displeased that Giovanna is far more interested in the former than the later. In his opinion, Carracci's death is an opportunity for the Rossati to make an attempt to seize control of Nuovo Volsinii, whereas Texas's appearance as an agent for the Bellone is nothing but a threat.
Despite his concern that Giovanna doesn't see Texas's reappearance as a trap, Giovanna opines that there's a whole conspiracy surrounding Texas, and makes no effort to approach Texas on her own. Rather, it's Wallach who tries to arrange his earliest possible meeting with Texas.

Crack of Thunder (IS-4 After)

After Texas convinces Judge Lavinia (Penance) to put her on trial for Carracci's death as a ploy, Wallach meets with Leontuzzo to discuss Texas. Wallach doesn't know that Leontuzzo is playing along with the sham trial. Leon convinces Wallach to let the trial play out, and offers him an opportunity to have a peaceful talk with Texas.

Old Rules (IS-5 Before)

Thanks to Lappland, this talk happens after Texas has been dismissed as a suspect and released from custody. Texas apparently meets with Wallach in Rossati territory, or at least not in Bellone territory.
Wallach already sees Texas as a traitor to her name and the Columbian famiglia, for hiding away from them for so long and only returning to act as an agent of the Bellone, who uses her to oppose the Rossati. For him, this meeting is Texas' last chance to give him an explanation that might change his mind about her.
Instead, Texas all but confirms his assumptions. She really did abandon, if not outright betray, the Texas famiglia. She deliberately forsook her family's empire and left it all to fall to pieces. She really will fight against the Rossati if necessary to pay back her debt. And she has absolutely no intention of returning to the Columbian pack even after her debt is paid.
Wallach is openly skeptical that Texas really intends to leave the Rossati family alone after her debt is repaid, but at the same time he makes it clear that he would rather see her leave and never return than spend the effort necessary to kill her.
Though he probably did want to kill her, given how Texas regards the Rossati soldiers in the room as "would-be" assassins who are too intimidated by her to actually try making good on the trap she's standing in.
Wallach not only met Texas on his own initiative rather than at Giovanna's bidding, he acts as if he can speak on behalf of the Rossati famiglia without Giovanna's knowledge, and he declares that he will not allow Giovanna to meet Texas regardless of her wishes.
Curiously, Wallach tells Texas, "You're too much like a Siracusan. No, you are a Siracusan, through and through. So I cannot let you see the Donna. You'll shake her. And you'll shake others too. You'll bring ruin to a great many things."
But we'll come back to that.

Old Conflicts (IS-6 After)

Wallach eagerly take the opportunity to finally fight Siracusan mobsters in mortal combat. "Do you know how long I've been waiting for this?"
Wallach easily defeats Demetri Certaldo, and mocks Siracusans for being weak fighters. "Can you even sniff out the scent of blood under your so-called 'guns and order?'"
Leontuzzo appears just in time to rescue Demetri.
Wallach refers back to the peace that Leontuzzo himself had tried to broker with Wallach, and Leontuzzo makes a nonsensical accusation about Wallach dooming that peace with his actions. As though Wallach isn't merely defending his donna against an assassination attempt that Leontuzzo's own father coordinated.
To this nonsense, Wallach rightly says "You've made a fool of me, and still you tell me I had a chance to make things right."
Ultimately, Leon avoids a fight by making an unspecific bet with Wallach, after which he retreats while carrying Demetri to safety.
Wallach continues guarding the way to Giovanna, with Texas arriving to challenge him next. She defeats him and moves on. Lappland appears and accuses Wallach of not actually giving that last fight his full effort, and Wallach confesses that he wants to see how his unspecified bet with Leontuzzo will turn out. "I hope I lose."

What To Be Forgotten (IS-7 After)

After Texas and Giovanna fail to kill each other, Wallach waits until Giovanna walks away before he throws a short tantrum, breaking something with his sword. He then calls Leon on the phone to tell him, "You've won, Leontuzzo."
Most likely referring to the bet. The bet that Wallach said he wanted to lose, but upon losing it, he lashed out in anger.
Demetri says that Leontuzzo's wager was a way to "win Wallach over", though "over" to what isn't exactly clear.

Walking on Eggshells (IS-8 Before)

Wallach accepts Bernado Bellone's invitation to talk. Presumably, this was Wallach's wager for losing his bet with Leontuzzo.
Bernardo confesses to working with Alberto Saluzzo to stage the assassination attempt on Giovanna, and for assigning Texas to do the deed. But he claims that his true purpose for the attack was to show Wallach that his biggest enemy wasn't the Siracusan famiglie, it was Giovanna herself for holding the Rossati famiglia back. Bernado also tells Wallach that Cellinia Texas no longer owes him anything and subsequently is no longer under Bellone protection.
Bernardo offers Wallach a deal: Depose Giovanna and side with the Bellone in going on the attack against Lady Sicilia, the Grey Hall, and all of the Siracusan famiglie for the sake of taking absolute control of the country.
Wallach pays some lipservice to his self-image. "If you think you can get me to betray my donna, keep dreaming." "The Donna works for the greater good."
But he has no real answer when Bernardo asks him, "Is the greater good she wants the same one you want?"
When Wallach returns from that meeting, he doesn't go talk about it with Giovanna. He once again decides to commit to his own course of action.
Since Bernardo said that he will no longer protect Texas, Wallach mobilizes the Rossati famiglia to capture Texas's foreign friends. Given how willful Texas has proven herself to be, there's no way that such an action would end in any way but the death of the last Texas or every Rossati soldier.
More brazen than even planning this without asking Giovanna's permission, he sends a messenger to tell her exactly what he's doing.
Whether by accident or design, this becomes his test for Giovanna. Either she sides with him against Texas, or she sides with Texas against him.
She decides to stand against him. She asks him how much of the Rossati would still follow him if he killed her, and he estimated around 70% at the start and he could convince the rest.
Which is either as a testament to his ego, or to the very real influence that Giovanna allowed him to cultivate without her, or to how impossible it was for Giovanna to remain a crime lord while maintaining any sense of morality and ethics.
Even after Wallach states how certain he is that he can kill her and take control of the famiglia, he gives her one last chance to side with him, against Texas, and try to conquer all of Siracusa.

After

Wallach hesitates to kill Giovanna. He gives her a last drink, last words... even then he waits for her to surrender, give up, and change her mind.
He doesn't deal the final blow until she herself tells him to do it, and even he uses a small knife instead of his usual sword. Furthermore, even at the very last second he misses her heart by just enough of a hair that she not only fails to die instantly, some emergency aid is able to save her life.
At a certain point, 'mercy' becomes cruelty. Had Giovanna not gotten help in time, that would have been a slower, more painful way to die than he could have granted her.
Because he loved her, as friend and family? Or because he couldn't stand to see her go without admitting he was right?

And then...

Nothing. Wallach talks a big game but fails to accomplish anything from this point on.
He and Demetri team up to fight Alberto Saluzzo, and they bore him so much that he just gives up and leaves and they can't even stop him.
After that humiliation, the two of them coordinate the remains of the Rossati and Bellone families to try to take the secondary city core before it completely separates into the new city. They fail at that, too.
Lady Sicilia reveals her presence in the city and sends her elite soldiers out to quell the warring famiglie, because even Alberto Saluzzo doesn't phase her.
Texas trades her one shot at getting Sicilia to leave her alone forever to win a pardon for Wallach and the Rossati famiglie, and Sicilia claims that she wasn't even bothered enough by Wallach's actions to liquidate them.
Agenir observed as much in his last talk with Bernardo. "In Giovanna's hands, the Rossatis were a deadly but hidden saber. But in Wallach's hands, they are a savage and ostentatious knife."

Empty Flattery

Wallach professes loyalty to Giovanna and the Rossati famiglia, but it's lipservice. He's loyal to Giovanna only so long as he gets what he wants from serving her. He has no problem throwing away the lives of Rossati associates for the sake of advancing the fortunes of the famiglia as a whole, with it being no coincidence that the fortune of the famiglia effectively belongs to him.
That is to say that Wallach is ultimately out for himself alone; he merely pretends to be a team player because he can't get away with acting openly as a tyrant.

Like A Siracusan

Remember when Wallach said this to Texas? "You're too much like a Siracusan. No, you are a Siracusan, through and through. So I cannot let you see the Donna. You'll shake her. And you'll shake others too. You'll bring ruin to a great many things."
If you'd asked Wallach to explain what he meant, I don't think he could articulate a coherent idea for the first half, and I don't think he'd tell the truth about what he meant in the second half.
In my posts about Salvadore Texas and Guiseppe Texas, I talked about the similarities and differences between the Siracusan famiglie and the Columbian famiglie.
Giovanna was the very model of a Columbian donna, save for her scruples. But Wallach? Seems no different to me than the very worst Siracusan.
He uses Columbian methods only because he is a Columbian, but at every opportunity he chooses to resort to threats, violence, and killing instead of making deals too good to refuse. He'll follow Giovanna's lead as long as she uses Columbian methods to take over Siracusa, but on his own he descends into short-sighted, pointless battles of physical might.
Texas hates to talk, and yet she's far less violent than he is. She's certainly less aggressive and demanding.
I think that the truest meaning of the word "Siracusan" in Wallach's heart was simply "someone standing in my way." He called Texas "Siracusan" just because she refused to be his kind of "Columbian".

Shaking and Ruin

It's even harder to imagine what he meant by this. Did he think Texas would inspire Giovanna to take an even harder moral stance on famiglia business? Would this possible fear not have been born out by Giovanna's own decision to betray him to protect Penguin Logistics?
I suppose it's also possible that he merely feared that Texas might serve as an example of surrendering to the Siracusan famiglie. Perhaps he worried that Giovanna would give up the fight and allow the Rossati to fall under the sway of the Siracusans. And from a certain point of view, she did when she sided with Texas against her own famiglia.

Big Talk, Short Sight

Times have changed, Giovanna. A new era calls for new norms. The so-called 'morality and justice' of the old guard should be cast aside.
Even if we don't do it [getting into certain businesses back in Columbia], someone eventually will. And when that time comes, we'll be the ones who get pushed out. Or you think sitting around, watching Columbia's other famiglie get their mitts on these things [Originium weapons, designer drugs, military channels... ] is the right way to do it?
I'll control it all, new and old. Everything will be at my disposal.
We're not taking the world back to the old ways, we're turning away from them.

THIS is the reason I wanted to make this post, about this foolish man.
It is COMICAL to me that he talks about tearing down Lady Sicilia's order and doing everything as he wants as "not taking the world back to the old ways", as "turning away" from the old ways.
These are exactly the old ways that Lady Sicilia tried to put to an end. She failed, but she at least hobbled the beast.
He has barely any capacity to use even the new, Columbian mafia tactics of criminal enterprise.
And when he reaches out to grasp "everything", he ends up with nothing. He jumps at the two birds in the bush, and loses the one already in his hands.
