I tried replacing all the '.'s with commas in excel, then I replaced the commas with periods. I removed all diacritics. I made a copy of the file. I moved the copy to another folder. I tried to open the excel from the new folder, desktop, downloads. I searched on the net, I didn't find anything submitted by No-Section-1483 to spss [link] [comments] |

I have SNO on t470p laptop. Bare minimum, without any additional operators. Only "openshift hello world" app (httpd) installed.

🤔 Microsoft’s AI ambitions lead to 30% rise in emissions M
icrosoft’s AI ambitions lead to 30% rise in emissions - Microsoft's commitment to being carbon-negative by 2030 is threatened by a 30% increase in its carbon emissions, largely due to its growing focus on AI technologies.
- The company's expansion of AI operations necessitates building more data centers, which rely on energy-intensive materials like steel, concrete, and microchips, further complicating their carbon reduction goals.
- Despite its renewable energy claims, Microsoft is acknowledged for using instruments like renewable energy credits (RECs) that might mask actual carbon emissions, indicating a challenging path ahead to meet its sustainability targets.

Stability AI reportedly runs out of money and in negotiations to sell
- Stability AI, known for its open-source image generator Stable Diffusion, is negotiating a sale due to financial struggles, despite a valuation of $1 billion.
- The company raised over $100 million in 2022 but struggled to turn its free software into revenue while facing stiff competition from rivals like OpenAI and Midjourney.
- Founder and CEO Emad Mostaque resigned amid management issues, and the company faces significant expenses and liabilities, projecting $153 million in costs against only $11 million in revenue for 2023.

Apple unveils AI-enhanced eye tracking, music haptics, voice shortcuts
Apple recently unveiled new accessibility features that will launch later this year. One of these features is Eye Tracking, which enables users with physical disabilities to navigate their iPhones and iPads using only their eyes.
By leveraging the front-facing camera and AI, Eye Tracking allows precise control through a “
Dwell Control” feature, eliminating the need for additional hardware.
Another noteworthy addition is Music Haptics, designed for users who are deaf or hard of hearing. When enabled, the Taptic Engine in iPhones plays taps, textures, and refined vibrations synchronized with music audio.
Additionally, Apple has introduced Voice Shortcut, which allows users to create custom voice commands for specific actions on their devices. With Voice Shortcut, users can perform tasks hands-free by simply speaking their personalized commands
Why does this matter? This would encourage the development and advancement of AI technologies in the accessibility domain, ultimately benefiting individuals with disabilities across different platforms and devices.

Why does this matter? As more sophisticated AI models become accessible, we can expect further improvements in various applications, from digital assistants to natural language understanding and generation.
Source Ilya Sutskever and Jan Leike leave OpenAI
OpenAI co-founder and chief scientist Ilya Sutskever
announced that he is leaving the company — following months of speculation of Sutskever’s role from the November 2023 Sam Altman ousting.
- Sutskever said he is confident that OpenAI will ‘build AGI that is both safe and beneficial’ under the current leadership.
- Also leaving is Sutskever’s superalignment group co-lead Jan Leike, announcing his departure with a cryptic resignation post.
- The news follows months of departures largely coming from OpenAI’s superalignment and safety teams, fueling speculation.
- OpenAI CEO Sam Altman named Jakub Pachocki as the new chief scientist, a key researcher on the creation of GPT-4.
After months of tensions, the speculation around Ilya’s future with Sam is finally put to rest. But questions surrounding the safety team departures still remain. Also important to watch is where Sutskever and Leike land next, with two of AI’s brightest minds now officially on the market.
Android phones enter the AI era
Google
announced a host of new AI integrations coming to Android phones at its I/O Developer Conference, bringing its powerful Gemini model on-device to enable upgraded smartphone experiences.
- Google’s Gemini Nano model will be integrated into the Pixel later this year, allowing for enhanced multimodal capabilities.
- Gemini features will be easily accessible with a new overlay, which improves and understand context to provide dynamic suggestions.
- A Circle to Search feature, allowing users to query anything on screen, gains homework help features via a LearnLM model.
- Google is also bringing a new AI security feature soon, providing real-time alerts on calls that appear to be scams.
While everyone awaits the iPhone AI announcements, Google’s Android AI era is rolling. With Gemini coming directly on-board, the potential is there — but if Apple integrates ChatGPT, it may remain tough sledding against the dominant market leader.

Android phones enter the AI era Google announced a host of new AI integrations coming to Android phones at its I/O Developer Conference, bringing its powerful Gemini model on-device to enable upgraded smartphone experiences.
Google’s Gemini Nano model will be integrated into the Pixel later this year, allowing for enhanced multimodal capabilities.
Gemini features will be easily accessible with a new overlay, which improves and understand context to provide dynamic suggestions.
A Circle to Search feature, allowing users to query anything on screen, gains homework help features via a LearnLM model.
Google is also bringing a new AI security feature soon, providing real-time alerts on calls that appear to be scams.
While everyone awaits the iPhone AI announcements, Google’s Android AI era is rolling. With Gemini coming directly on-board, the potential is there — but if Apple integrates ChatGPT, it may remain tough sledding against the dominant market leader.

2024.05.15 06:04 Business_trendss Object-Based Storage: Revolutionizing Data Management for the Hybrid Cloud Era
Rather than organizing data as traditional blocks or files,
Object-Based Storage (OBS) is a new data storage architecture. Each item in OBS is made up of three components: data, metadata, and a unique identifier. Metadata contains descriptive information about the object. This strategy has drawn a lot of interest recently and provides a number of benefits over conventional storage techniques. OBS fits very nicely with hybrid cloud and cloud computing techniques. It is an essential part of cloud storage services, allowing cloud providers to provide their clients with scalable and reliable storage options.
OBS enables hybrid and multi-cloud deployments by supporting smooth data portability and interoperability across various cloud environments. Scalability, flexibility, dependability, affordability, and interoperability with contemporary cloud computing paradigms are all provided by object-based storage. It tackles the difficulties brought about by the exponential increase in data and the variety of data kinds present in today's digital environment. Organizations wishing to embrace IoT, optimize their storage infrastructure, use big data analytics, distribute content, and guarantee compliance with data governance rules should consider OBS as a strategic option.
"Object-based storage (OBS) is the method of storing unstructured data which are shared in any format such as PDFs, text, emails, videos, audio, graphics, webpages, etc." is how Quadrant Knowledge Solutions defines OBS. Organizations storing huge amounts of non-hierarchical data in the cloud or on-site can manage and control it with OBS. It is possible to keep data that are dispersed over a device's many folders and subfolders as distinct objects in one place.
Object-based storage joins all the data fragments to create a file, appends all pertinent information, and appends a unique identifier to facilitate file searches.
The quick uptake of next-generation technologies like as social media, big data analytics, cloud computing, and mobile applications has increased the amount of data collected and resulted in a significant change in consumer preferences for data access. Due to workplaces using more and more technology, people today expect to have access to data whenever they need it, from anywhere, and on any device.
Because object-based storage provides extensive metadata capabilities, low-cost data growth control, and enormous scalability to meet the rapidly growing need for data storage and access, it can aid in the resolution of these issues. Using Object Storage, data may be safely and securely saved or accessed straight from the cloud platform or the internet. Object storage offers a number of administration interfaces that make it simple to manage storage at scale. You can progressively increase your investment from a small initial commitment thanks to the platforms' elasticity, all without experiencing any drop in performance or service reliability.
Key questions this study will answer: Is the
Object-Based Storage market growing? What is the short-term and long-term growth potential of the Object-Based Storage market?
What are the key market accelerators and market restraints impacting the global Object-Based Storage market?
What are the major end-user industries of Object-Based Storage solutions? Which industries offer maximum growth opportunities during the forecast period?
Which global region offers maximum growth opportunities in the Object-Based Storage market?
Which customer segments have the maximum adoption of Object-Based Storage solution?
What are the various deployment options for Object-Based Storage solutions?
Vendors covered in this study: Cloudian, Cohesity, Datacore, DDN, Dell Technologies, Hitachi Vantara, Huawei, IBM, Inspur, NetApp, Nutanix, OpenIO, Pure Storage, Quantum, Qumulo, Red Hat, Scality, StorageCraft, SUSE, SwiftStack, Weka, and Western Digital.

2024.05.12 23:37 TheFumingatzor Which Java to use for which Minecraft version?
There's
Which one of these do I use for which Minecraft versions?
Edit: Question is more along the lines of performance. Usually I go with zulu..because...reasons? Was wondering if there's a performance reason to switch to Temurin or Correto? Java is java, sure, but surely there's differences in these versions, no?
I remember, distinctly, there were different implementations of the JVM: HotSpot GraalVM, ZulVM, openj9, that had a performance impact on MC,

2024.05.11 21:59 TheCasualBlueMage Using trademarked/copyrighted content as a pop culture reference.
I'm making a minecraft custom map. For those who don't know what that is, it's a free piece of 3rd-party downloadable content that anyone could download and play in the game.
In this, I'm going to be adding an upgrade system where the player finds playing cards. I wont bore you with the details, but I was thinking in addition to the regular playing cards, you could also find some trading cards that are well known as some fun pop culture references.
Things like Pot of Greed from Yugioh, a Charizard Pokemon card, a Black Lotus from Magic the Gathering. Things like that. Minecraft is a very pixelated game, so art for these would either be heavily pixilated too (32x32, super low res) or actually drawn as pixel art myself. I would want to include the name of the card, but no effects. I'm not building a simulator to play these games, they would fulfil entirely different roles within this 'game'.
I'm fairly confident Nintendo, Hasbro and Konami wouldn't actually come after something as niche as this with no revenue, but could they? Is something like this encroaching on trademark/copyrights? From my research I feel like there's no harm in using the names of the cards, but it's the art that makes me question it.
Let me know if I need to elaborate on anything further :) Thanks!
