Uan Muhuggiag
Uan Muhuggiag is an archaeological site located in southwestern Libya. Discovered in the mid-20th century, it's particularly notable because of the presence of a well-preserved mummy of a small child, dating back to approximately 5600 BP (3600 BCE). The mummy at Uan Muhuggiag was discovered by an Italian archaeological team led by Professor Fabrizio Mori during the 1950s. The site, Uan Muhuggiag, is located in the Acacus Mountains in the Sahara, in present-day Libya. The well-preserved mummy of a young child found there has provided valuable insights into prehistoric mummification practices and the life of ancient peoples in North Africa.

The mummy of Uan Muhuggiag is one of the oldest known mummies from prehistoric times. It's the mummy of a young boy, estimated to be about 2.5 years old at the time of death. The body was wrapped in animal skin, and its organs were removed, indicating an intentional mummification process. Red ochre was also found on the skin, which is often associated with burial practices in various ancient cultures.
The mummy displayed evidence of tattooing. This makes it one of the earliest known instances of tattooed human skin. The tattoos, simple in design, might have had some cultural or ritual significance, but their exact meaning is unknown.

The mummy of the child on display Germa Museum, Fezzan, Libya.
After making this discovery, the Professor, Fabrizio Mori, sent it back to italy to have it examined by experts where they determined that the child was "Black."

Uan Muhuggiag provides significant evidence about prehistoric Saharan people. The site contains several rock shelters that have yielded a variety of archaeological materials, including pottery, lithic tools, and rock art. The site is also known for its rock art, which depicts various scenes of daily life, animals, and symbolic figures. This offers insights into the life and beliefs of the inhabitants of this region during prehistoric times.
The archaeological and environmental data from the site indicate that, during the time when the site was occupied, the region had a more temperate climate than today. So he would have lived possibly during and towards the end of Green Sahara period.

The Skin and Skull showed the young boy was black after being analyzed by Dr. G
As we have discussed previously, in many of these cultures, the color red, derived from ochre, held a symbolic meaning, often associated with blood, life, regeneration, and protection. The sprinkling or application of red ochre onto the deceased might have been believed to imbue the body with these qualities or to provide protection in the afterlife.
Before the establishment of the first dynasties in ancient Egypt, the pre-dynastic cultures that inhabited the Nile valley had distinct burial customs. The use of red ochre in burials is one of these practices:
  1. Badarian Culture (c. 4400–3800 BCE): This is one of the earliest pre-dynastic cultures in Upper Egypt. Badarian graves often contained the deceased adorned with jewelry and cosmetics, and some burials show evidence of bodies either dusted or smeared with red ochre.
  2. Naqada Cultures (c. 4400–3000 BCE): The Naqada cultures (I, II, and III) were a series of cultures that existed in what is now Upper Egypt. Particularly in the Naqada I (Amratian) period, some burials had bodies covered in red ochre. It's believed that this practice was a symbolic act, possibly to do with rebirth or protection in the afterlife.
Over time, as the dynastic period approached and state formation began, burial practices evolved, leading to the intricate mummification processes and rituals that ancient Egypt is famously known for.
Apart from Uan Muhuggiag in Libya and Predynastic Egypt, other prehistoric African sites show evidence of using red ochre in burials:
  1. South Africa: The Blombos Cave site, dating to around 100,000 years ago, has yielded evidence of the use of red ochre, albeit not exclusively for burials. However, it's one of the earliest known sites where humans processed ochre, presumably for symbolic or ritualistic purposes.
  2. Kenya: At the Panga ya Saidi site in Kenya, burials dating back around 78,000 years have been discovered with traces of red ochre, indicating its use in funeral rituals.
  3. Morocco: The Taforalt site in Morocco, dated to around 12,000 years ago, contained burials where bodies were sprinkled with red ochre. This site provides evidence for one of the earliest and most extensive uses of ochre in Stone Age, North Africa.
  4. Sudan: In prehistoric Sudan, some burials have shown evidence of the use of red ochre, suggesting a shared or parallel cultural practice with ancient Egypt.
Red ochre's significance seems to be tied to symbolic or ritualistic beliefs, often related to life, death, and rebirth. It might have been believed that the red pigment had protective or life-affirming properties, though the exact beliefs likely varied between cultures and regions. Understanding this, we can see the murals from ancient Egypt in a holistic context:
The skin was painted red to symbolize vitality and the women were painted yellow to symbolize fertility
The Tehemu boy shows that knowledge of the mummification process was at least 5,600 years old which pre-dates Ancient Egyptian Civilization and it perfectly aligns with the desertification of the Sahara (5,500 years ago) .

In the deserts of Western Libya, on cliffs and boulders along the edge of a dry riverbed called Wadi Mattendush, are rock carvings cut by a culture making the jump from hunter-gathering to nomadic pastoral farming around 4,000 years ago. Possibly re-cut many times, their carvings show animals in a Libya before the Sahara arrived – giraffes and elephants are accurately depicted. One carving shows two dog-headed men dragging away the body of a rhino, or possibly using magic to control it.
Wadi Mattendush is just one rock-carving site featuring dog-headed men scattered around Libya’s Messak (“plateau”) region. David Coulson of the Trust for African Rock Art says these dog-headed figures are “quite common” at five different sites around Messak and just over the Algerian border at Tassili n Ajjer. One shows a dog-headed human carrying a club, with a dog-headed baby at his feet. Another Messak dog-head is carrying away an aurochs on its shoulders.
Archaeologist Tertia Barnett says of Libya’s dog-headed carvings, “we still don’t know much about the people who created them.” It’s even unclear whether the dog-headed men depicted are just humans wearing masks – Messak also depicts elephant-headed humans, one of whom is revealed as a human removing a mask. (1)
Since this earliest appearance, dog-headed men have been with us ever since, appearing as illustrations on world maps well into the sixteenth century, and in many of the medieval world’s most widely read books.

So we have the Nabta-Playa, Ishango bone, burial mound civilization moving up the Nile and making contact with the mummification culture?

2023.07.05 21:26 Slick_Vik Admiral GB's Backstory and Endgame

Aramaki has been one of the most interesting characters in my opinion, from his silhouetted introduction at the Reverie, to his surprising attack on Wano, he has been a polarizing character shrouded in mystery. With the recent Volume 106 SBS, I believe Oda's answers have given us further insight into who Green Bull really is. Throughout his appearances, a couple key themes have sprouted (pun intended), and his characterization so far has given us conflicting views. I believe by looking at these themes and the backstory hints Oda has given us, we can deduce his role in the endgame, as well as his true origin and what made him believe in "Deadly Justice".
Firstly is the idea of Order, as he says in Wano, "Humanity only got this far by enforcing hierarchies... That order is what keeps things going, prejudice breeds stability". Conversely, being called Green Bull, a color usually associated with life and freedom, as well as being the wielder of the Mori-Mori no Mi or the Woods-Woods fruit, Greenbull's abilities and powers correspond with life and freedom. So how exactly did someone with abilities and a name relating to growth, become someone with such a twister worldview?
Aramaki's Inspirations:
Oda has sprinkled in tidbits of information about Ryokugyu's past through his characterization, design, and real-life inspiration. In the SBS recently leaked, we learned that Aramaki follows "Deadly Justice". Oda also specifically highlighted his tattoo which references Shinagawa Shinju, or double suicide at the river of death. The story follows an old prostitute, who after falling on hard timed decides to commit suicide but doesn't want to do it alone. She convinces a simple man to do it with her, but when he gets cold feet, she forces him. After his fall from the bridge, she finds out that she recently came into some wealth, and discards the idea of suicide as foolish. The man surprisingly lives due to the water being shallow.
The other inspiration we have for Aramaki is by a character of the same name from a movie called Ronin Gai. This movie features the actor Harada Yoshio, Greenbull's inspiration, as well as the actors who inspired Kizaru and Fujitora (the remaining current admirals). In the movie, Yoshio plays a drunk Ronin, who eventually redeems himself by saving a prostitute from execution.
Aramaki's Backstory:
With the information from the potential inspiration for his character, here is what I believe to be Aramaki's backstory. Aramaki was a former noble (or celestial dragon) of a world government country who then fell in love with a woman from a lower class, either from an unaffiliated country, or a lesser race such as a Fishman or Mermaid. As we saw in his silhouette appearance, he seems to have a weakness for beautiful women. Due to his position he could not be with her, but was pressured into following his heart, renouncing his title and position, similar to the Donquixote's. Similar to how in the Shinagawa Shinju story, the character fell from the bridge, Ryokugyu "fell" from his higher status. He was then betrayed by the woman, and heartbroken, grew to believe that the natural order exists for a reason, and those who do not bow before it are scum. Aramaki's response to betrayal was hatred, and is reflected in his form of "Deadly Justice" where evil cannot go unpunished. His loyalty and admiration of Sakazuki could stem from him believing that someone like Sakazuki would not be swayed as easily by someone from a lower class due to his thorough justice.
Aramaki's Endgame:
I believe that the story of Shinagawa Shinju explains Aramaki's backstory and current views, but where will he go from here? I think the evidence points towards Aramaki redeeming himself by the end of the series. A character like Greenbull who is racist, and horrible seems like the exact kind of character who'd be an endgame villain, but I think there are a couple of clues to show that he may end up on the right side after all.
Firstly is his friendship with Fujitora. Back in his silhouetted introduction, Issho and Aramaki spoke as if they were friends. Now knowing Fujitora's justice is "Honorable Justice" and knowing his character, I think we can say that he would not be overly friendly without reason. We've seen that they clashed after Fujitora helped the slaves escape, but considering we haven't heard any other news we can assume it wasn't a serious fight. I think Issho and Aramaki knew each other before they joined the Marines with the special draft, and Issho knows the reason he believes in deadly justice. This would explain his friendly tone with someone who holds nearly opposite beliefs, and represents the schism in the marines.
Secondly is his devil fruit powers. As we saw at the Udon prison mine, after he captured/ killed King, Queen, and the beast pirates, as a byproduct of his devil fruit he returned the barren area back to its once verdant landscape. His abilities are all centered around Growth and life, which become sinister in the hands of someone who only believes in death. I think Oda is foreshadowing his role of growth through his life giving devil fruit. As we saw with his brief appearance at Wano, he didn't actually do anything bad. He captured (but probably killed) the beast pirates, restored Wano's depleted land, and made Shinobu thin. I could see Oda using him as a character who has very deadly intentions, but accidentally causes good.
Lastly, Aramaki's film inspiration by the same name in Ronin Gai. At the end of the mobie, Aramaki decides to save a prostitute, redeeming his character and going against his previous goals. I think that with the themes of growth and his potential shared past with someone of a lesser race/class, Ryokugyu has the chance to redeem himself by the end of the series. My best theory would be that Ryokugyu gave up his post for a Mermaid, either saving her from danger, or after falling in love with her, and was betrayed causing him to lose everything. His act of redemption could happen when the fated event of Luffy destroying Fishman Island comes to pass, Ryokugyu will have to make a choice and will help save the race of the woman who betrayed him, completing his arc. If someone with as much hatred as Greenbull can go back on his prejudice and rescue people "lesser" to him, it will show his character confronting the trauma a betrayal caused him.
Greenbull Vs. Sanji:
I think an encounter with a straw hat will be the catalyst to reversing his prejudice. I think the battle that helps turn Green Bull's life around will be with Sanji. Sanji's current arc is revolving around his genetics and whether or not he has to sacrifice some of his humanity and values to be strong. Greenbull in this theory is an example of someone who embraces hatred and darkness in order to become strong, compared to Sanji who gets his strength from his crew. Sanji may be genetically a prince, or a higher class, as well as Germa where his body is naturally stronger than everyone else's. Under Greenbull's logic, Sanji should believe everyone else to be under him, but Sanji's power comes from love. I think we were foreshadowed a Sanji fight with Greenbull's Fireproof forest and attack style. The Scabbards remarked at how all they could do was try to stop him from growing since he could keep regenerating. Who else could stop an ever growing forest than someone with the speed of Sanji? This is purely headcannon but a final attack for Sanji with the "white flames of love" defeating Greenbull would be poetic.
TLDR: Greenbull got betrayed by a mermaid, went into his Andrew Tate arc (Sakazuki simp), and will redeem himself

2022.06.13 17:05 madnerl I was going to make a satire post about certain goofy character to be the next yonko, the more I think about it the more legit it gets (chapter 1052+ spoilers)

I believe we all have seen the reddit posts on several one piece related reddit about how Buggy will become the next Yonko alongside Luffy. what if there are "evidence" of foreshadowing and logical reasoning for it?
Disclaimer: I didn't make all these connections myself, it's a compilation of what I read on reddit posts + what I found in the wiki + some food for thought that I really want to share with you all
Content Index:
  1. What Buggy (and Luffy) have, similar to previous Yonkos
  2. Buggy's background and how he is a dangerous man in the views of others
  3. Buggy's crew and parallelism compared with Strawhat Pirates
  4. Messages and symbolism

Part 1: What Buggy (and Luffy) have, similar to previous Yonkos
Looking at the similarities among previous Yonkos, Kaido, Big Mom, Whitebeard, Blackbeard (Shanks excluded because we know so little lol), there are some criteria they all have

Part 2: Buggy's background and how he is a dangerous man in the views of others
During Marineford War the world knows more about Buggy's law and he is an absolute menace in the eyes of regular people in the One Piece universe.

Part 3: Buggy's crew and parallelism compared with Strawhat Pirates
This is my favourite part, look at Buggy's crew and you will see a lot of parallelism, so funny yet so legit in the same time.

Part 4: Messages and symbolism
Why Yonko Buggy works? Part 1 and 2 makes him a viable candidate already, but also the symbolism of Luffy shaking up the system and breaking status quo of what a Yonko should be! Luffy's journey had already unintentionally lead to the abolishment of warlord system. Now Joy Boy awakened Luffy going to bring this to the whole level, in the scale of Yonko!
Lastly, for the good ol' "ODA FORESHADOWED THIS MOMENT" Volume 25 Cover might be foreshadowing the Yonkos after the saga - Shanks , Blackbeard, Luffy , Buggy? COINCIDENCE I DON'T THINK SO
For the power scalers, who think "Buggy is still too weak", but hey, if you think about it, Luffy only won Buggy with the help of Nami. In addition, Buggy almost executed Luffy and make Luffy said his last speech . Awakened Buggy vs Gear 5 Luffy ? A man can dream

Afterword
Thank you for reading all of these, I truly appreciate it. This is my first post in this reddit I hope I can put a significant amount of effort on it.

2022.03.21 16:58 Boss_Aesop West Looks the Samurai- Why Joyoboyo (44) is Aokiji, Aokiji is Karoo (56), and this ain’t no joke wa yo! (1044 to 1056) 🥁🥁🥁

WINTER IS COMING!!! 🥁🥁🥁
For months and months and months and months and months and months I’ve sounded the drums for the hype events of the upcoming chapter 1044 and conclusion of Wano. Joy Boy comes in 1044 and Wano ends in 1056. 🥁🥁🥁
Last page of 1043 has Momotaro (Momo), the Dog (Yamato), and the Monkey (Luffy). But where is the Pheasant? The Pheasant can’t be Zunesha. So the Pheasant must be Joy Boy. 🥁🥁🥁
This means Joy Boy is not Monkey D. Luffy but rather the Blue Pheasant or Aokiji. So who is the Blue Pheasant? A hint appears on the cover of volume 102: “The Pivotal Clash” which features Momotaro (Momo), the green dog (Zolo), the red monkey (Luffy), and the blue pheasant (Sanji). In the SBS of Volume 20: “Showdown at Alubarna” which has the duck Karoo on the cover, Oda reveals the animal associated with Sanji is a duck. This means the Blue Pheasant is the duck who belongs to the Pheasant themed Blue Haired Princess Vivi. His name is Karoo. 🥁🥁🥁
Like Poseidon, the sovereign Karoo is 16 or “Hero” years old, hails from an Indo Pacific inspired species that is the fastest of its domain, and lives in a palace based on an Indian mausoleum. Karoo and Poseidon are highlighted by Luffy’s wanted poster on volume 90. 🥁🥁🥁
But Karoo is not just Joy Boy he’s also a Mad Lad who would rather die than allow someone like Kaido to hurt his friends. Karoo is ready to clobber Kaido. Like Nami warned in 1043 Kaido is a snake, a liar, and a fake Joy Boy. This was foretold 900 chapters ago in Chapter 144: ”Snowy Tale”. 🥁🥁🥁
144 was serialized in Alabasta Part 2 or Drum Island arc in which Portgas D. Ace is first mentioned. Ace was born on Baterilla, a Spanish word for Drums. 300 chapters before 1043’s “Drums of Liberation” in Chapter 743: ”Dressrosa Trembles” from Dressrosa, a Spanish themed arc about Ace’s Mera Mera Fruit, Karoo is depicted as the Mahamayuri, the scion of the Phoenix, the Wisdom King of Pheasants. Mahamayuri is the only one of the wrathful Wisdom Kings to have a benevolent nature who symbolizes the resistance to everything Kaido represents like terror and disaster. 🥁🥁🥁
Like Poseidon of Fishman Island on the cover of volume 66 faces right, Karoo of Alabasta appears on the cover of volume 22 facing left like the Bird of the Kozuki Crest and the left arm tattoo of King Neptune. 22 is the reading for Bon Clay’s Mane Mane fruit whose former owner is from Wano. Bon Clay was introduced in Chapter 156: “Oh Come My Way Days” when Karoo was used as bait. The wordplay for Karoo is 56 and the chapter color spread features only boys. 22 also has the reading for Fuji, a major landmark in Wano. 🥁🥁🥁
Like the 8 feathers of the left facing Kozuki Crest bird, Mahamayuri Karoo has 8 wings. Karoo was also born on the 8th day of his birth month just like Otama was born 8 years ago in Wano. Otama means Ball. There are 8 small balls on the Kozuki Crest bird. Together with the center ball, the nine balls or Navagraha form the Hosokawa Samurai Crest which is the emblem of Alabasta where Karoo was born. Karoo’s birth month and Vivi’s name have the wordplay 11 which is a pun for Samurai derived from the vertically written word Bushi and used in a Japanese mnemonic for remembering the months that do not have 31 days. The mneumonic is “West Looks the Samurai.” 🥁🥁🥁
The first mention of Joy Boy is in Chapter 628: “Spring Cleaning” when Nico Robin who was born in West Blue asks the question “Who are you Joy Boy?” In Chapter 1043: “Let’s Face Death Together!!!” the Samurai Kozuki Momonosuke poses the same question “Who is [Joy Boy]?!” The mneumonic “West Looks the Samurai” highlights the parallels between the two chapters and two characters. Robin parallels Momo. The smiling Luffy after Robin parallels the smiling Luffy after Momo. The transitions to the Thousand Sunny Go and Zunesha also parallel each other. This means Zunesha who says “Joy Boy [is here]” is referring to Thousand Sunny Go. 🥁🥁🥁
The last appearance of the Thousand Sunny Go whose likeness appears in Chapter 144: “Snowy Tale” as a lion temple was Chapter 997: “Flames.” Joy Boy is then next mentioned by Momo in the last panel of 1040 in a conversation that ends in Chapter 1041: “Komurasaki”. Komurasaki or Momo’s sister is associated with the Pheasant which appears on her kimono. There are 44 chapters between 997 and 1041. There are also 44 (Joy Boy) volumes between Karoo and Poseidon’s last individual volume cover appearances in 22 (Mane Mane) and 66 (Bon Clay Fights Germa 66 Prince) before their joint appearance on the cover of volume 90 (Okama). On the cover of volume 44 is Nico Robin who remember first mentioned Joy Boy. The official wordplay for Robin’s name is NiRo or 26 evinced by the fridge passcode for the Sunny which is 7326 or NaMiNiRo. If the same rule is applied to Joy Boy his wordplay is JoBo or 44. Moreover 44 is also the wordplay for the ShiShi laugh of the Thousand Sunny’s Captain Straw Hat Luffy and the title of volume 88: “Lion”. 🥁🥁🥁
The Thousand Sunny has the masthead of a lion. Just like the Merry saved her captain at the end of Enies Lobby I believe the Klabautermann of the Thousand Sunny saved Luffy by playing the Drums of Liberation. In German folklore Klabautermann have “irrepressible musical talent” and the etymology of Klabautermann is Klabastern which means “to rumble” or “to make a noise” not unlike like drums… 🥁🥁🥁
This song will lure Karoo and Vivi who will sabotage the Big Mom Pirates a third time (Rule of Threes) on the way to Wano. Karoo and Vivi will scale the waterfall like they scaled the walls of Alubarna except this time Karoo will fly thanks to Vivi who has eaten Golden Lion Shiki’s Fuwa Fuwa fruit at the Reverie. The wordplay for the Fuwa Fuwa fruit is 20. Karoo surprisingly appears front and center of volume 20: “Showdown at Alubarna”. 🥁🥁🥁
In One Piece Rurubu, it’s revealed that the streets of Alubarna are based on Cairo but the city itself is based on Jodhpur, India. In 1040 we learned Zunesha was Joy Boy’s Void Century companion from 800 years ago. The Void Century began 900 years ago. “Elephant Lord” Zunesha is based on the Hindu god Ganesha. In Japanese India used to be known as the “Seal Country”. The lion or Narasimha happens to be the royal seal of the Hindu Javanese ruler of the Kediri Kingdom 900 years ago. This ruler was named Joyoboyo like Joy Boy. 🥁🥁🥁
In the mythology of the Narasimha avatars of Vishnu and Shiva clash. Shiva is associated with winged serpents and the crescent moon. Vishnu is associated with lions and the sun. When an avatar of Shiva, Sharabha, takes into the sky the wrathful avatar of Vishnu, Narasimha, the Narasimha unleashes a winged form called the Berunda. Berunda defeats Sharabha in an 18 day battle to the death. 🥁🥁🥁
The Gandaberunda or Berunda which is Sanskrit for “Terrible” is depicted in Hindu mythology or folklore as a two headed magical bird of immense strength that can crush elephants with its talons. The two heads relate to Bon Clay’s costume whose character design is introduced with Karoo. The connections of Berunda to the royal seal of Joyoboyo and elephants such as Joy Boy’s companion Zunesha cannot be a coincidence. The Berunda is also used as a symbol for the Indian state of Karnataka. The etymology of Karnataka is Karu Nadu where Nadu means “Land” and Karu means “Elevated” in an Indian language. The namesake of the Indian Spot Billed Duck Karu or Karoo means “Elevated”. Karoo therefore has a name befitting of a sovereign and is connected to the mythical beast Berunda. The Blue Pheasant is the Berunda. 🥁🥁🥁
Furthermore, the etymology of the Greek Acropolis is Acro Polis where Polis means “City” and Acro means “Elevated” like Karu or Karoo. In the same way the home of Poseidon, the Ryuugu Kingdom has a palace that is the synthesis of the Greek Temple of Hephaestus and the Indian Mahabat Maqbara, the Ancient Kingdom must also be a synthesis of Ancient Greece and Ancient India. Like Poseidon is the sovereign of the Neptunians and princess of the Ryuugu Kingdom, Joy Boy as a mirror must be the sovereign of Dali Elephants and prince of the Ancient Kingdom. 🥁🥁🥁
The classical architecture on the 144 cover matches classical architecture in depictions of the Ancient Kingdom and Laugh Tale from Clover and Crocus. Karoo appears to be in the ruins of the Acropolis of Athens in the background of Chapter 144: “Snowy Tale” 🥁🥁🥁
TL;DR: Joy Boy is not the Monkey but rather the Pheasant. The Pheasant is Karoo. Joy Boy is Karoo. Lured by the Drums of Liberation playing on the Thousand Sunny, Karoo will dramatically land on the Thousand Sunny Go to face Kaido and death together with his fellow Straw Hats. This will occasion the arrival of the legendary Joy Boy. Hero of One Piece is a 16 or “Hero” year old duck who represents the “Terrible Resistance to Terror” or the Dawn

How, if at all, will Kanjuro's Kazenbo spirit be stopped?
Unfortunately, we have yet to see much progression in this plot point. While the spirit continues to phase downward toward the explosives store in Onigashima's basement, there has not been much progress made toward extinguishing the Kurozumi's hatred. Bet 525 is unresolved!

Bet 526

What will be the outcome of X Drake and Apoo vs the CP-0 agents?
As of 1033, this bet has not been resolved since we didn't get anything on this plot point during this chapter. Bet 526 is unresolved!

Bet 527

What will Hiyori do after reuniting with Orochi?
While Hiyori has briefly been seen playing songs for Orochi, we have yet to have any dedicated time more than a few panels here and there on this plot thread. Bet 527 is unresolved!

What does an Unresolved Bet entail, and what is "Frozen Beli?"

If you're new to Bets and Bravery, the terms "unresolved bet" and "frozen bet" might not mean anything to you. However, this small section will attempt to address your questions on those terms!
Often times, one week's bet will not be immediately addressed in that week's chapter. In these cases, the bet is deemed "unresolved." What this means is that any beli used to bet on any outcome for an unresolved bet is "frozen," and is locked in place on the outcome it was initially used on. Once Beli is frozen, you will no longer have access to that beli to bet with. However, a bet may see a resolution in a later chapter, in which case the previously frozen beli will be reevaluated and will either be lost for good if you missed the bet or will earn you money if you hit!
If all your beli ends up frozen, you may not have any left to use on other bets, so spend wisely! However, that's where the weekly participation bonus of 10,000 beli comes in, so that even if you lost all your money to bad bets or everything is frozen, you can still play along! Hope that answered your questions, but always remember my inbox is always open if you have anything else you'd like to ask!

Newly Resolved Bets

Bet 483 from the Chapter 1017 Edition

Who will win the battle between Sanji and Queen?
Having faced a fearsome onslaught of Germa tech, an existential crisis, and wavering convictions, Sanji's mirrored-brow self managed to set ablaze his spirit even hotter than before, unleashing the new and improved Ifrit Jambe to deal a massive flurry of blows to Queen, launching him completely off the island in a very convincing ring-out. Outcome A for Bet 483 is correct!

Bet 497 from the Chapter 1023 Edition

Who will win the battles between Zoro and Sanji vs King and Queen?
Continuing after Sanji's victory, Zoro, having finally brought Enma under his control, descended into new depths to bring forth techniques that could defeat even a Lunarian. As the new "King of Hell", Zoro finally brought down Kaido's right-hand man, pushing the Strawhats ever closer to their goal. Outcome A for Bet 497 is correct!

Bet 512 from the Chapter 1029 Edition

Who is King under his mask?
While it might have been an interesting reveal to have King be a figure from the past, the reveal that Alber the Lunarian appears very similar to the Shandorans from Skypeia, tattoos and all, is just as intriguing a reveal. Outcome D for Bet 512 is correct!

Bet 526 from the Chapter 1033 Edition

Who will win the battle between X Drake and Apoo vs the CP-0 agents?
Having bailed once the going got tough, Apoo left his comrade Drake for dead, who quickly suffered a defeat in a brutal uphill 2-on-1 scenario. While he appears to still be alive, we'll have to wait and see what happens next. Outcomes B and E for Bet 516 are correct!

Weekly Mini-Game

This week's mini-game, your task was to guess in how many panels the newly reappearing Kozuki Hiyori would appear throughout Chapter 1033.
Dear audience, I counted them up, and we came to a grand total of 0 panels! This week, we had one lucky contestant who guessed correctly the total number of panels: u/Entity_not_found, who earns a whopping 1.5 million Beli all to themselves!

End of Chapter 1033 Payouts

And with that, we've come to the end of the payouts for this week. However, we're not done with the thread just yet, we've still got more in store for you all!

Highlights of the Week

Welcome back to the highlights of the week, where I compile each week's bets and payouts into 7 categories, "Most Spent on Bets," "Most Earned," "Highest Net Profit," "WMG Winner," "Most Frozen Beli," "Most Won from Newly Resolved Bets," and "Biggest Loser." Look for yourself on the highlights this week, and if you ended up as the biggest loser this week, better luck next time!
To see if you made the Highlight Reel this week, make sure you check out the W109-C1033 Highlights!

Host's Corner

I've been hella busy since the last thread. Lots of studying for final exams and more exams after that the grind never stops ✊😔
While I do feel as though the Zoro and Sanji fights were lackluster (does Kaido's crew seriously have 0 Awakened Zoans?) and I don't like seeing Luffy now fight on really even footing with Kaido, I'm hoping they get a little more challenged going forward. While I'm not Mr Morj levels of crazy in thinking the raid will fail (though that would be super crazy), I also don't like how the Strawhats have seemingly steamrolled everyone, including Kaido's top dogs (rip the homie Jack). And I swear to God if Big Mom goes down this arc and not in Elbaf I'm going to continue reading One Piece but I will be disappointed while doing so don't test me, Oda
In other news, Kaido is shaping up to be a more interesting character with the little lore bits we've gotten from the King fight and his ongoing fight with Luffy. Joyboy seems to be a massive influence, which would be great to hear more about. I'm definitely looking forward to that!

Thanks for Participating!

With all that out of the way, we've survived another exciting week of Betting and Bravery! I hope you enjoyed this week's bets, as I enjoyed making B&B for you!
As always, I'm ever so grateful that you decided to stop by and check out this thread, whether you're new to the show or a hardcore veteran, I'm glad to see you all! So, I'm looking forward to seeing each and every one of you back here soon for the next edition! Until next time!

2022.01.20 14:56 Boss_Aesop Karoo = Joy Boy ain’t no joke (1037+ spoilers)

WHAT THE DUCK?
This poll by the resident troll brought to my attention there are many skeptics who refuse to take the Karoo pill. This is a big ducking mistake that is not only scandalous but outright dangerous.
So to save the lost damned souls (and probable Zolo tards) I’m going to preview the main arguments for my original theory that Karoo = Joy Boy which until now has not been compiled in one piece. Eventually I’ll post a polished version on the main sub that also derives Joy Boy’s treasure a.k.a. One Piece (NOT Bink’s Sake), identity of Imu (NOT Imhotep), and the meaning of D (NOT Duck).
THE QUACK THEORY
We know Shirahoshi is the latest incarnation of Poseidon.
We know Joy Boy made a promise to Poseidon, broke his promise, and apologized afterwards.
We know from Neptune that Joy Boy’s promise is related to Noah.
We know from the Neptunians/ Sea Kings that Noah is important to them.
We know from the Neptunians/ Sea Kings they are waiting for the meeting of two “sovereigns”. The sovereign of the Neptunians/ Sea Kings we learn is their queen Poseidon. The other sovereign to be born in a distant sea is also prophesied by the Neptunians/ Sea Kings. Who the duck could this other sovereign be?
Sovereign → Sea Kings → Noah → Joy Boy
The other sovereign born in a distant sea is none other than Joy Boy.
So who the duck is the other sovereign?
Shirahoshi is 16. Karoo is also 16.
Shirahoshi is the most notable member of her species (mermaid) which is the fastest in her country and domain (Fishman Island and sea). Karoo is the most notable member of his species (super spot-billed duck) which is the fastest in his country and domain (Alabasta and land).
Shirahoshi is from Fishman Island. Since the Earth is widest at the Grand Line the most distant location from Fishman Island is close to Reverse Mountain on the other side of the planet. In the seas close to Reverse Mountain is Sandy Island. On Sandy Island is Alabasta where Karoo was born.
So Karoo was born around the same time as Poseidon in a distant sea much like the other sovereign in the prophecy of the Neptunians/ Sea Kings in chapter 968. Karoo also lives in Alubarna’s royal palace, an abode befitting of a sovereign.
On Neptune’s left arm is a tattoo. This tattoo is a stylized rendering of the symbol inside the chrysanthemum circle on the Japanese themed Kozuki Crest as suggested by Kin’emon’s friend Okiku in Wano where Kiku means chrysanthemum.
The counter clockwise swirl represents the head of the left facing bird on the Kozuki Crest. The four feathered strokes on each side represent the wings of the bird on the Kozuki Crest.
According to the right hand rule convention the axis of rotation of a counter clockwise motion is a thumbs up with the right hand. Also when the devil fruit traces of the straw hat crew are drawn counter clockwise direction a SMILE is formed. Also the Buddhist manji which appears twice in Alabasta (first with Ace and then with Robin) is a swastika/sun cross that not only depicts counter clockwise rotation but is also considered left facing. The bird on the Kozuki Crest faces left.
So the counter clockwise swirl on Neptune’s left arm represents the bird on the Kozuki Crest. A thumbs up sign and smile are physical expressions of Joy. So the counterclockwise swirl on Neptune’s tattoo represents Joy Boy. So the bird on the Kozuki Crest represents Joy Boy.
We first learn about Joy Boy and Poseidon in Fishman Island so it makes sense that the prominent tattoos of the ruler of Fishman Island indicate the two sovereigns i.e. Joy Boy and Poseidon.
The tattoo on Neptune’s right arm has a clockwise swirl. We can infer this means the opposite of Joy. The opposite of Joy is Gloom. Shirahoshi is first depicted as someone constantly crying out of self pity. You can say she was Gloom Girl. So the clockwise swirl represents Gloom Girl or Poseidon. This is supported by Sanji’s clockwise curly eyebrows since Sanji’s dream was to see the mermaid princess who happens to be Poseidon.
We know Sanji’s eyebrows are important because Oda teased in an SBS that Sanji may be a devil fruit because of his eyebrows.
Incidentally as of chapter 1037, the new cover series is revealed to be about Germa 66. Sanji’s brothers in Germa 66 have counterclockwise curly eyebrows. We learn in Onigashima that the direction of Sanji’s eyebrows have important implications since Sanji’s eyebrows change to that of his brothers as the raid suit’s lineage factor modifications based on devil fruit research by MADS take effect during Sanji’s fight with Queen who was part of MADS. Since Sanji’s brothers have counterclockwise eyebrows I expect either the cover series to introduce Joy Boy or to run while Joy Boy is introduced in the manga.
The devil fruits have both counter clockwise and clockwise swirls. I expect the mystery of devil fruits to be related to the mystery of Joy Boy’s promise to Poseidon.
In the Fishman Island flashbacks we learn of the many stars that had to align just for Fishman Island to even attend the Levely, a summit of global proportions. The Neptunians/ Sea Kings described the meeting of the two sovereigns as an auspicious event for which the whales were delighted in anticipation. The latest Levely was certainly auspicious given the number of nations in attendance including the delegation from Fishman Island. In Chapter 1037, the Five Elders described the Levely as accursed. So for the protagonists this must mean the Levely was auspicious since the proceedings were not favorable to the Five Elders.
After collecting signatures to fulfill Otohime’s will of moving Fishfolk to the surface world, Neptune and Poseidon travel to Mary Geoise to attend the Levely. It is there on the first day of the Levely that the other sovereign Karoo meets Poseidon.
The volume in which Karoo meets Poseidon is volume 90. On the cover of volume 90 Luffy’s wanted poster highlights two characters specifically. The two characters highlighted are none other than Shirahoshi and Karoo.
The bird on the Japanese themed Kozuki crest is a crane as suggested by Kin’emon’s wife Otsuru in Wano where Tsuru means crane. Interestingly on the belly of the Japanese themed Kozuki Crest’s crane there is a Buddhist nine ball symbol as suggested by Kin’emon’s ally Otama in Wano where Tama means ball. Even more interestingly the Buddhist nine ball symbol is also the crest of Alabasta.
When the Straw Hats are en route to Alabasta, Usopp and Luffy use a certain bait to catch Mr. 2 Bon Clay who is outfitted in a swan themed costume. Swans and cranes have identical morphologies. They are both white graceful birds with similar proportions that are commonly mistaken for one another. The bait used to catch the swan/crane was none other than the sovereign bird and duck Karoo. In Alabasta Mr. 2 Bon Clay fights with Sanji who’s associated with Poseidon. This means Mr. 2 Bon Clay is associated with Joy Boy. This makes sense given Bon Clay’s upbeat personality and positive meaning of Bon which means Good. This means the bait used to introduce Bon Clay is none other than Joy Boy.
So Karoo is not only the other sovereign and the bird on the Kozuki Crest, Karoo is the latest incarnation of Joy Boy
THE PREDUCKTION
Joy Boy will come to Wano as early as Chapter 1044 (Before April Fool’s Day 2022) to commemorate his appearance on the cover of Chapter 144 “Snowy Tale” As of Chapter 1037, references to the lonchanas or royal seals of the real life Joyoboyo’s father and son have appeared in Wano. They are the Onigashima Skull and Zunesha. All that remains is for the Narasimha (Thousand Sunny Go) and Berunda (Joy Boy Karoo) to appear. Joy Boy’s appearance will then necessarily coincide with the reappearance of the Thousand Sunny Go which has been MIA since Onigashima first took flight.
AW, PHOOEY?
The Berunda which is born from Narasimha’s anger in Indian mythology is foreshadowed by Bon Clay’s costume which features a two headed bird. In Wano Narasimha’s enemy Hiranyakashipu would be the corrupt shogun of the country of gold Orochi and Narasimha’s enemy Sharabha would be the serpentine demonic dragon Kaidou. Like the lion cave is the Sunny, the serpent on the cover of chapter 144 is Kaidou. Chapter 1044 may in turn involve a showdown between the wannabe Joy Boy Kaidou and the real Joy Boy Karoo. This battle would then be 900 chapters in the making.

2022.01.03 19:56 Ambitious-Lawyer2849 Roger's original crew from east blue?

Roger's original crew from east blue?
Roger and Luffy resemble each other a lot, Rayleigh and Zoro are the same way, but I believe there used to be more on Roger's crew resembling the first 5 crewmates from east blue and we've already seen two if not 3 of them. I don't know if it's been discussed before but I'll post it here anyway lol
This is just a theory I came up with while watching the drum island arc again but I think Dr Kureha might have been the one resembling Nami in Roger's crew. Dr Kureha loves money as seen when charging the father of the sick child for 49% of all the money he has, she's always seen dressed nicely just like Nami does. Nami said doesn't want to be a pirate who can't dress and Kureha must've been the same way. She also looks very young for someone 139/141 just like Nami probably will as seen in Oda's sketches of the strawhats future look, Nami looks very young by age 60 in those sketches. Dr Kureha's also seen chasing around Luffy and Sanji and hitting them with crazy power just like Nami's been doing, might sound dumb but both Nami and Kureha has similar looking eyes(Just like Zoro and Rayleigh) with only two eye lashes unlike other female characters.
Same eyes?

She's got a tattoo and seems to be able to handle her drinks, might be another connection to Nami?
Kureha also knows about Roger's real name "Gol D. Roger" and believes the will of D still lives on after she's seen Luffy he must've reminded her of Roger.
Next one is Dr Hiriluk who might resemble Usopp, it's less likely then Kureha and Nami but there are some resemblances even though Hiriluk was born in Drum Island he could've met Roger in east blue. While not being very similar in looks (maybe because giving him a long nose would give it away?) I do believe Hiriluk has sailed with Roger, his admiration and understanding of pirates and similar looks to Roger about a person's life. His speech about a man never dying unless he's forgotten and Roger's words to Rayleigh "I will not die, partner". He's also seen a cherry blossom that "cured" him, and that sounds like something that could only been seen in the grand line (Wano?). He never told Chopper about his illness or that the mushroom Chopper got him was poisonous, he kept lying to him about these things, sounds crazy but I do believe he shares that with Usopp. He was never mad at Chopper for getting him a poisonous mushroom not only because of Chopper's efforts but also because he realized Chopper understood the real meaning of a pirate flag.
Cleansed his soul might mean he stopped being a coward? started being a brave warrior of the sea? maybe
Dr Hiriluk's also been seen using a gun in the story, could mean he used to be a sniper in the crew
Using a gun while also lying to Chopper
He didn't mention Roger or the will of D in the story unlike Kureha but he does say this after Chopper asked him about pirates: "A pirate? Pirates are great men of the sea. They have a body hard like stone, the eyes of an eagle, and a voice that tears the sky asunder!" Which I've seen before talked about as foreshadowing of haki, he wouldn't know about forms of haki if he didn't sail the sea in a great crew. Dr Hiriluk dies in the end of the flashback as a brave and proud warrior of the sea.
So why are both of them in Drum Island? I believe they went there in order to find a cure to Roger's incurable disease, after all the island is known for having some of the best doctors in the grand line. Thanks to the two of them for raising Chopper and Hiriluk for making Chopper carry his will and love for pirates, we might have Chopper find the cure and save Luffy from the same illness Roger suffered. Thanks to the two former Roger Pirates, Chopper will be able to change the fate of the future pirate king. Also Blackbeard could've known about Kureha being a former member of the Roger Pirates and she might've been the reason he invaded the island... there aren't really any other reasons he would invade such a place.
As for one resembling Sanji, I'm not very sure, my best guesses are owner Zeff or Shiki. owner Zeff has the same dream as Sanji, the All Blue, and has been to the grand line. We were never showed what Zeff has seen in the grand line or his real power. It's possible he sailed the sea with Roger, seeing how trusting he is of Luffy but who knows. Shiki on the other end could be a bad future version of Sanji? He's shown his admiration of Roger and he has a huge military working under him, just like Germa 66. In Oda's sketches of the Strawhats pirate future looks, the bad future version of Sanji looks exactly like Judge (lol) who is a lot like Shiki in that aspect. Maybe something has gone wrong for the crew that made Shiki leave it/ join Rocks but who knows.
In conclusion, if Luffy and Zoro were fated to meet in almost the same way Roger and Rayleigh met, I refuse to believe Roger wouldn't have a crew full of dreamers with huge ambitions like Luffy does.

2022.01.03 18:17 StrawHatJedi Year Zero - The Fall of [SPOILERS] and Creation of the Grand Line

QUICK SUMMARY
Read below for a more thorough explanation, but in summation:
Introduction
When did the Lunarians rule the earth? This question may have been answered as far back as Alabasta and I’m going to explain why I believe their downfall may be one of the most important events in One Piece world history.
The mystery of King’s race has only deepened in the chapters since the name Lunarian was first mentioned. As the battles on Onigashima between Luffy’s two wings and Kaido’s calamities unfolded, information about King and the Lunarians was slowly revealed and though we have seen his true appearance and Zoro, at least in part, deduced the nature of this fiery powers, we may need to wait considerably longer to learn about their role in One Piece world history.
This post is intended to answer one simple, but important question – when did the Lunarians rule the On Piece world? Resolving this seemingly small detail may actually reveal quite a bit about the history of the One Piece world itself and the overarching conflict which will ultimately reach its climax when Luffy and the Straw Hats at last rediscover One Piece and turn the world upside down in the process.
I believe we already possess several clues which allow us to pinpoint when the downfall of the Lunarians occurred and that their destruction may be one of the most important and monumental events in One Piece world history which marks the start of the current epoch – year zero on the One Piece calendar.
What We Know About Lunarians
King and Queen were first introduced to readers in chapter 925, however it wasn’t obvious at the time that King belonged to a yet to be identified race given his full body suit. There were some immediately identifiable unique, but somewhat familiar aspects to King’s design, such as his large black feathered wings which resemble those belonging to the Birkans. We later learned that unlike the sky peoples, King’s wings are actually functional. The perpetual flame on King’s back was also later revealed by Queen to be an innate power attributed to his Lunarian race.
In chapter 951, Linlin identified King as belonging to one of the three races not yet found in her kingdom and extended an invitation for him to join her. King of course declined, but Big Mom described the Lunarians as ‘lost to the mists of time’.
King, like Zoro, is rather stoic and as such, most of the expository information about the Lunarians has been unwittingly revealed by Queen in his attempt to pry information from Sanji regarding his Germa modifications. However, Marco’s wistful musing about his days aboard Whitbeard’s ship may have yielded the most important piece of information thus far.
Marco said he once heard about a race of people atop the Red Wall who could burst into flames. In the next chapter, after Zoro and Sanji took the stage, Marco sat on the sideline and recalled his fallen captain first telling him the legend of King’s people. Whitebeard told a tale of about a land of gods which once existed on top of the Red Line long before Marijoa, the present home of the Celestial Dragons and the enigmatic Lord Imu.
King’s race as well as his true appearance are seemingly sensitive subjects as he appeared to be quite displeased when Queen casually made mention of Lunarians in his battle with Sanji and he went into a rage when Zoro later cut a hole in the top of his mask. Once unmasked, we learned he has distinctive white hair and a dark brown skin tone. He also features tattoos over his left eye (a recurring motif), which resembles hose of Wyper.
Through his battle with Zoro, we learned King’s speed dramatically increases when his flames are extinguished, but that he resists physical damage while they are lit. In chapter 1033, Zoro landed an attack and King responded ‘bingo’, shortly before igniting a large explosion. This indicates the physical damage King receives in combat somehow fuels his flames, or at least his explosive techniques. We further see that he can further manipulate his flames at will.
The Land of Gods
Queen told Sanji that Zoro stood no chance of defeating King - a remnant of the Lunarian race. He told Sanji the Lunarians were seemingly an incredibly powerful race of beings capable of surviving in all sorts of harsh environments which earned them the reputation of being gods, but that they somehow died out. Sanji wondered how extinction of such a powerful group of beings was possible, but Queen declined to comment further. Notably, he tod Sanji to look up the answer for himself in a history book.
The most interesting detail here is the fact that this so-called land of gods atop the Red Wall predates Marjoa. There is a fairly common theory that the Red Line was constructed during the Void Century which concluded with the ascension of the 20 Kings and their families. I still believe there’s good evidence the Red Line is artificial and has some connection to the ancient continent pullers like Oars. I further believe that the Grand Line may have knowingly been constructed in response through the power of the Sea Kings for a yet to be revealed purpose. However, we can now say with certainty that the Red Line predates the reign of the Celestial Dragons, which seemingly dispels any notion that the 20 Kings were responsible for the construction of the Red Wall.
The Lunarians are said to have been the prior inhabitants of this massive supercontinent which encircles the One Piece world.
But now we must ask, when did this transfer of ownership take place? When did the Lunarians fall from their lofty land of gods? We know it was before the formation of the World Government, but was it during the Void Century or sometime even earlier? I actually believe the answer to at least that last question has already been revealed.
We Know:
Fall of the Lunarians
So, let’s first examine the possibility the Lunarians were struck down by the 20 Kings during the Void Century. Could their society atop the Red Wall be the Forgotten Kingdom which once thrived and wielded the power of the Ancient Weapons? During the Ohara flashback, Professor Clover was allowed the opportunity to speak with the Five Elders before being executed and he used that opportunity to discuss his and the other scholar’s findings through studying the Poneglyphs.
As revealed by Clover, the 20 Kings are said to have banded together for the purpose of defeating a vast and powerful adversarial kingdom. The Elders ordered Clover’s immediate execution before he could speak the name of this Forgotten kingdom aloud, but we importantly learned that this nation and its name have been completely erased from history. Thus far, Clover and the Roger Pirates are the only one to have mentioned the existence of this vast forgotten kingdom.
Additional expository information about the Celestial Dragons and World Government has been supplied by characters like Pappag, and Doflamingo, but they emphasized only the ascension of the 20 Kings and creation of the World Gov. No one, aside from those who have read the Poneglyphs like Clover and the Roger Pirates, has made any mention of this Forgotten Kingdom.
It could make sense for the Lunarians, previously considered too be the reigning so-called gods of the One Piece world to fall in order for the new and current self-proclaimed gods, the Celestial Dragons, to rise and take their throne in the holy city.
But I believe we can say with almost absolute certainty the Lunarians are NOT the ancient forgotten kingdom wiped out during the Void Century that Clover and the scholars of Ohara learned about from the Poneglyphs. Importantly, Queen told Sanji the downfall of the Lunarians is recorded in history and Big Mom seems to be fully aware of the race to which King belongs. Legends of the Lunarians living atop the Red Line also persist as we know from Marco’s memories of Whitebeard. This means the history of the Lunarians may not be common knowledge, but records of their powers and their demise remain accessible, unlike the tale of the forgotten kingdom recorded solely on the Poneglyphs. Thus, we can confidently say, the Lunarians are not the ones wiped out by the 20 Kings during their rise to power. Interestingly, however, I believe the fall of the Lunarians may explain one of my biggest questions regarding the timeline of the One Piece world. What happened in year zero?
The Age of Heaven (Tenreki) & The Age of the Sea Circle (Kaienreki): One Piece World Calendars
Oda has rarely provided the specific calendar date for events in One Piece, which makes the few instances where he has done so particularly noteworthy. Most events in the One Piece world are only given relative dates; Oda tells us through text box how many years before the ongoing narrative a flashback scene takes place which allows us to construct a rough timeline of events.
But the first time an actual calendar year is mentioned is in chapter 203. During the Alabasta story arc, Robin descended with Crocodile into the Royal Crypts in search of the Poneglyph said to reveal the location of the Ancient Weapon Pluton. Though she indeed found a Poneglyph, she told Crocodile it recorded only the history of the Nation of Sand. We later learned in chapter 218 that Robin was lying to Crocodile as Cobra confirmed the Poneglyph revealed everything Crocodile wanted to know about Pluton including its location.
Importantly, as part of her deception, Robin read Crocodile a sample of Alabasta’s history, and indicated the calendar date for particular events which took place in the Age of Heaven or Tenreki.
The next time a specific calendar date was mentioned and the only time a definitive year was stated for events actually depicted on panel came from the log of Noland’s voyage to the kingdom of Shandora. Noland’s flashback was set 400 years before current events in One Piece and Noland dated his arrival on Jaya in the year 1122 in the Age of the Sea Circle or Kaienreki. His voyage began in the year 1120 and ended in 1127. Also worthy of note, the day and month divisions in the Sea Circle calendar seems to match our real-world Gregorian calendar.
From this information we can extrapolate several important details. First, through the dates listed by Robin as well as those recorded by Noland, we know that two distinct calendar systems are used in the One Piece world, much like our own. The current epoch is referred to as the Age of the Sea Circle or Kaienreki, which began roughly 1500 years before the present point in time. The era before this was called ‘The Age of Heaven’ or Tenreki.
From this we can date certain key events:
We can thus assume that the Age of Heaven or Tenreki precedes the current epoch and likely ended about 1500 years before the present story of One Piece. We don’t actually know if the Age of Heaven directly precedes the Age of the Sea Circle, but given there are only two calendar systems referenced thus far, I think it’s a safe assumption. Very little has been revealed about the previous era, but we do know Alabasta was already a thriving Kingdom during the Age of Heaven as the Palace in Alubarna was said to have been constructed 4,000 years before the present (2500 Years before Year Zero).
This means, Luffy’s voyage is taking place around the year 1525 Age of the Sea Circle or Kaienreki. The Void Century began around 900 years ago and ended 800 years ago. Which means the current One Piece world calendar began about 600 years before the Void Century. Yet, we know recorded history in the One Piece world dates at least as far back as 5,000 years when the Tree of Knowledge on Ohara was said to have been planted.
Interestingly, I believe the fall of the Lunarians may fit a theory I have held for a long time – that some monumental event must have occurred to mark the transition from the previous calendar system to the one currently in use.
The Monumental Event(s) in YEAR ZERO
The World Nobles have positioned themselves as false gods and centered the world around the formation of the World Government. They even erased one hundred years of history to mask the means by which the 20 Kings rose to power and as Clover asserted, to hide the existence of the Forgotten Kingdo. So, the fact that they didn’t also re-start the calendars at year zero is tremendously important and potentially revealing. Erasing a century of history would have been much easier and much less conspicuous if the calendar year began at the end of the Void Century.
Beyond the fact that the Celestial Dragon’s own sense of self-importance would be compelling enough reason to re-start the calendar year to mark their ascension to so-called-godhood, the best way to erase the void century would have been to re-start the calendars and declare the end of the hundred-year void to be year zero so as to communicate, 'nothing before this event matters' and to further discourage inquiry into events they want to be forgotten.
Leaving the calendar as-is and voiding a century in the middle of the timeline is far more conspicuous. As far as we know, they have no discernable motive not to re-start the calendars with the formation of the World Government marking year zero… unless they know the world wouldn't recognize that change because something undeniably more important happened in year zero. This further suggests that the Celestial Dragons also recognize this theoretical event as somehow more important than themselves and the formation of the World Government. They maintain the calendar system because they too regard the reason for the epochal shift marked by the transition from the Age of Heaven to the Age of the Sea Circle to be important and worth not only remembering, but memorializing.
So what can we conclude based on this information? Well, this tells us some monumental event must have happened to mark the beginning of the current epoch of history, the age of the Sea Circle, and the end of the previous epoch, the Age of Heaven, 600 years before the Void Century began. I have been wondering what event could be so important, so monumental, to the One Piece world that the entire system of dating would be reset and that the Celestial Dragons would consider more worthy of note than their own rise to power? I believe the names of these two eras, coupled with the information recently revealed about King and the Lunarians may yield the answer to these questions – and more.
The calendar system currently used is Kaienreki or, in the Viz Translation, the Age of Kaien. This roughly translates to the Age of the Sea Circle, which immediately brings to mind the Grand Line – the sea which encircles the globe and leads to One Piece. This perhaps suggests the Grand Line came into being 1500 years before the story began.
The prior epoch is referred to as Tenreki, or the Age of Heaven, which certainly matches the described time period in which a land of gods once occupied the top of the Red Wall. The end of the Age of Heaven would thus fittingly describe the fall of these so-called gods. As was revealed in chapter 1,033, the Lunarians were incredibly powerful but somehow died out. He further indicated that their demise is an event recorded in history.
I think we can thus begin to form a picture of the major events which marked the epochal shift from the Age of Heaven to the Age of the Sea Circle – the fall of the Lunarians and the destruction of the land of gods at the end of the Age of Heaven, and the formation of the Grand Line, the birth of the sea circle which provided the name of the world’s current epoch. But how are these two events related? Who was responsible for the destruction of King’s race? What was the purpose of the Grand Line before the World Government was formed, the Poneglyphs created, and One Piece being left on Laugh Tale?
Mysteries of the Ancient World
What’s becoming clear is that while the True History holds the key to understanding exactly what happened during the Void Century (which took place between the years 600 to 700 in the Age of the Sea Circle), the conflict in the One Piece world likely began much earlier. Zunesha was cursed 1000 years ago, Ryugu Kingdom was already forcibly located at the bottom of the sea during the Void Century, and the fact that Nika was famous for liberating slaves means the world was not in some type of idyllic utopian state before the rise of the 20 Kings and World Government.
Uncovering the True History of the Void Century represents a fulfillment of Robin’s dream, but as we are gradually learning, the dreams of all members of the crew are in some way connected and related to the central narrative arc of One Piece and the approaching New Dawn. Understanding the mystery of the Forgotten Kingdom and the ascension of the Celestial Dragons is vitally important, but there’s an even deeper layer to this mystery which extends farther back into the mists of time than was at first apparent and connects all of the Straw Hat’s dreams including Robin’s. Discovery of the True History is an important piece of an even larger whole.
The epochal shift between the Age of Heaven and the Age of the Sea Circle is likely another key event in the One Piece timeline. The moon is one of the most important and recurrent symbols throughout the series so a lunar race living atop the Red Line in the era which precedes the creation of the Grand Line is interesting to say the last and their reign and fall likely tie into the overarching conflict in a significant way. But at this point, we’re still left with so many unanswered questions.
First and foremost, what actually are the Lunarians and what is their connection to the moon? Though the Lunarians have distinct anatomical and physiological features not found among the other sky races, they are still likely somehow ancestrally related and we know the other sky people also have some deeper connection to the moon. For example, we know King and his people are capable of surviving all sorts of inhospitable environments which could explain Eneru’s ability to go walking on the moon without a spacesuit if the Birkans share ancestry with the Lunarians. So what role, if any, did the Lunarians have in creating the ancient city on the moon’s surface? The Lunarians were once considered gods, so could Eneru’s delusional belief in his own divinity and his deep reverence for the Moon, the Endless Varse, be rooted in the history of the Lunarians?
The next question: If not the 20 Kings, then who was responsible for the downfall of the Lunarians? This is a question Sanji pondered in chapter 1033 and Queen indicated the answer is recorded in the pages of history, so perhaps we will learn the truth of this matter before the True History is ultimately revealed on Laugh Tale.
There are several other important figures potentially linked to the world’s distant past including Joyboy, Lord Imu, and Sun God Nika. If King accurately represents the strength of the Lunarians, then certainly an entire civilization of such beings could be a threat to those who want to hold power, like Imu, and I suspect the dark forces in the One Piece world were working behind the scenes long before they finally emerged and rose to power during the Void Century.
But we also can’t discount the possibility the Lunaians were themselves tyrants. The association between the Lunarians and the Red Line is potentially revealing as the wall which separates the world’s seas in two seems to be a physical representation of the world’s division and oppression. After all, it’s no small coincidence the reigning faux deities, the Celestial Dragnos, have also chosen the ‘Holy Land’ Marijoa to call their home. The 19 families who ascended gathered in a place they called ‘the center of the world.’
King asserted his innate biological superiority to Zoro, indicating his attitude matches the delusional sense of self-importance possessed by the Celestial Dragons who now consider themselves to be gods. This ideological connection indicates the Lunarians were once similarly persuaded of their own divinity – and were perhaps the prior servants of the devil lurking in the shadows, Lord Imu.
Both in terms of nature and geographical orientation, it seems the Grand Line and Red Line are representative of diametrically opposed forces: Freedom and oppression. This is further evidenced by the symbol which appears on both Oars’ clothing and the wall of Imu’s vault inside Pangea Castle which connects the construction of the Red Line to the fabled continent pullers and the Word Government’s mysterious secret ruler.
So could the Lunarians have been villains from the distant past who had a hand in the construction of this massive supercontinent, over which they ruled as gods much like the modern Celestial Dragons? I could imagine this being the case, though I am hesitant because moon symbolism has been consistently used to represent those allied, or at least morally aligned with Joyboy. The moon in One Piece has been consistently used as a symbol of hope and a promise of the approaching New Dawn.
Regardless, this leads me to believe that the downfall of the Lunarians may have been an important step in a master plan to seize power which dates back millennia. For whatever reason, their demise didn’t need to be masked like the destruction of the Forgotten Kingdom. Conversely, if this theory is correct, the decline of the land of gods was forever marked in the pages of history by an epochal shift, ending the Age of Heaven.
But how does the fall of the Lunarians relate to the start of the current epoch, the Age of the Sea Circle? The Grand Line, which I assume to be the sea circle for which the current calendar system is named, is the sea of dreams, hemmed in by the Calm Belts which are home to the Sea Kings, ancient sentient beings who also await the promised future day when One Piece is rediscovered.
The Grand Line seems to be a gauntlet intentionally designed to test adventurer’s strength and ability to form bonds of fellowship with many people across the sea in pursuit of the final island. The purpose of this filtering system seems to be intrinsically linked with the treasure hidden on Laugh Tale. Yet, if this theory about the epochal shift is correct, the Age of the Sea Circle began 600 years before the start of the Void Century.
This is notable because the current oppressive regime which One Piece is seemingly intended to topple, rose to power during the world’s forgotten century. I believe it makes sense that the Grand Line was formed in response to the Red Line – the power of the sea, which carries people toward freedom, running orthogonally to a wall which divides the world and opposes such freedom. And we now know this wall was constructed much earlier than the Void Century - that it existed during the Age of Heaven.
I had previously assumed the 20 Kings and Imu were the ones responsible for the Red Line’s construction and Joyboy and his allies somehow directed the formation of the Grand Line in response as a system to preserve the truth and test the mettle of the one who seeks to inherit the treasure.
The only way to reach the final island is by possessing the strength needed to overcome the trials of the voyage itself and by finding favor with Joyboy’s allies who guard the Road Poneglyphs. The very structure of this circular ocean route thus naturally selects for the virtues requisite of one capable of properly utilizing the treasure and the true history to bring the New Dawn.
In chapter 966, Roger confirmed the legend of the treasure at the end of the Grand Line, which spurred his voyage, already existed from long ago. The legend of the treasure and the Government’s desire to prevent it from being discovered predate Roger’s successful circumnavigation of the globe, his coronation as Pirate King, the name ‘One Piece’, Roger’s execution, and the current Great Era of Piracy.
In chapter 967, Roger confirmed Joyboy was the last person to have visited Laugh Tale 800 years earlier, which suggests One Piece was left behind at the very end of the Void Century. As indicated by the various prophecies of Joyboy’s return and the approaching New Dawn, rediscovery of this ancient treasure will mark another epochal shift in the One Piece world.
But importantly, the nomenclature of the world’s calendar system indicates the Grand Line’s formation and thus its purpose, if its construction was indeed intentional, is rooted in an even earlier event than the Void Century. Notably, though it’s a natural assumption, Roger never directly confirmed Joyboy placed One Piece on Laugh Tale when he last visited 800 years earlier. He simply named the island in honor of Joyboy’s tale full of laughs and remarked that his crew were the first to reach the final island in eight centuries. He said JoyBoy left behind a great treasure, a ‘tale full of laughs’, which very well couold be One piece, but we don’t have direct explicit confirmation. As noted, we know there was already global conflict during this time, and likely even earlier. Could the Lunarians, inhabitants of the Red Wall which divides the seas, be the primordial oppressors or at least, the prior servants of the primordial oppressors, whom the Sea Circle and the treasure it protects were created to oppose? Did the 20 Kings simply pick up where the Lunarians left off 600 years later?
Where are the Lunarians Now?
The last question I want to address is more directly related to King and other potential remnants of the Lunarian race. I presented a case for why I believe their reign may have ended 1500 years earlier, but according to the Vivre Cards, King is only 47 years old, which means at the very least his parents were still alive in the not-so-distant past.
Does this then mean an enclave of the Lunarians remains somewhere in the world? The fact that King may not be the last of his kind seemingly lends more weight to the idea that Sanji is somehow related to the Lunarians either through his ancestry or through Judge’s Germa experimentation. Sanji’s mother was named Sora which means ‘sky’ in Japanese and his father Vinsmoke Judge goes by the epitaph “Garuda”, which is a birdlike creature in Hindu cosmology. The Germa crest even utilizes an eagle-like symbol. Thus, on multiple levels, it seems there is some thematic connection between Sanji and the sky people. Queen indicated Sanji’s flames are unnatural and reminiscent of King’s and the durable endoskeleton featured by Sanji and his siblings seems to be similar in nature to the Lunarian’s imperviousness to damage.
More importantly, if there are surviving Lunarians somewhere in the world, which master do they serve? I have wondered for some time if there exists a deterrent force in Marijoa comprised of warriors who eclipse even the Marine Admirals in terms of strength based solely on the fact that Dragon and the Revolutionary Army captains chose not to invade the Holy Land while the entirety of the Marine Fleet was preoccupied with fighting Whitebeard during the Battle of Marineford. All of the world’s most powerful Marines were assembled on the blue seas, so who was left to guard the Celestial Dragons from an enemy attack? While I do believe the Five Elders are among the world’s most powerful warriors, I wonder if the few surviving Lunarians are also now under the Government’s control.
Notably, King’s subordinates indicated the Government offers a hefty reward for information related to King, but they were incinerated before this could be explained. Is the Government seeking information about Lunarians in general? This would indicate they don’t know where they’re presently located. Or does this mean they’re seeking information about Alber specifically? Was he the only one to escape their grasp? Kaido rescued Alber from Punk Hazard, but we don’t actually know how Alber came to be in the Government’s possession. Was he captured or were he and his family already under government control?
As potential evidence toward this end, King’s clothing is highly reminiscent of the jailers and warden of Impel Down, which suggests he may have been previously associated with the World Government. His black feathered wings give him the appearance of a fallen angel, which along with his epitaph “Hellfire” fittingly contrasts the angelic motif assigned to the Skypieans. Oda has frequently touched on Judeo Christian iconography, particularly in relation to the central underlying narrative conflict. There’s the indestructible Jewel Tree Adam, the Sunlight Tree Eve, the Devil Fruit, the Celestial Dragons who call themselves Gods, and the D.’s who are said to be their natural born enemies. The very fact that the Lunarians were once considered gods, as the Celestial Dragons are now, and occupied the same supposedly sacred location, means their history is intrinsically tied this underlying mystery and conflict.
Perhaps this suggests the Lunarians, much like the Celestial Dragons made a deal with the devil to gain their position atop the Red Wall and reputation as gods? Perhaps their downfall at the end of the Age of Heaven was the inevitable end result of their Faustian bargain and could signal the fate which will befall the Five Elders and world nobles should they fail to uphold their end of the deal by appeasing the capricious Lord Imu. And if so, what does this suggest about Imu? Does this mean his occupancy of the Empty Throne in Marijoa is not the end state of his master plan? Is the World Government simply an apparatus designed to accomplish Imu’s end goal? Are the Celestial Dragons and Five Elders mere pawns, entrapped by a bargain made eight centuries earlier, now forced to do his bidding? And should they fail, will they too be cast aside like the Lunarians?

2021.12.20 00:23 passadakis Just wanted to share this here. Love your videos. Liked & subscribed!!

Hello guy in a room! I think this chapter could be filled with "foreshadowing" info. Just in case Spoiler warning 1) sanji got in touch with his soft side just before collapsing. Could this be linked with his abilities. His emotions state efecting germa power up???? 2) lunarian conformation. The fire the wings the skin the tattoo. All on the table. And WG gives money for info. 3)the flashback. Can this be on of the occasions kaido gets him self caught. Just to retrive king? Looks like punk Hazard. If I am correct tha has to be when and how vegapunk copied his fruit. 4) last... A wide shot but what luffy and Roger said can be: I will change this world we live in. Seems lunarians could be waiting for the one. Otherwise he was fed up with the way thing are. But because of his unique importance and the mystery surrounding him and his people it feels really possible..

2021.08.14 20:00 talabi_ The One Piece is a Giant Den Den Mushi

This is just a theory, take it with a grain of salt (snail joke) but I think there’s a Giant Den Den Mushi out there at the end of the Grand Line and it’s through it’s psionic abilities that the “Voice of All Things” manifests.
Let’s first talk about the inspiration of the Den Den Mushi, the Den Den Mushi was inspired by the Pasilalinic-sympathetic compass a theory that you could communicate using snails.
In the Wikipedia article, something stuck out to me:
“There are stories of people cutting pieces of the flesh of their arms off and trading it with another person, tattooing the alphabet on each arm, and pricking the letters they wished to communicate to the person from whose arm the flesh had been taken, and it was upon this principle that Benoit built his theory.”
I think that when Luffy cut himself, it was symbolic of his tie to this connection or possibly made it easier for him to realize this connection. I think that there are some people like Rogers, Oden, Luffy, Momo, The Awakened Three Eyes, who can more easily hear this Snail and that this Snail can hear everything in turn.
I think the Snail is sleeping in a passive state and that it needs to be awoken. This awakening will be symbolic of the dawn, when this Snail awakens all of humanity will be able to communicate together.
(Imagine every Den Den Mushi in their world turning into a Luffy face while he declares a world wide party)
WHY DO I THINK IT’S A SNAIL?
The Den Den Mushi Shell would look sort of like a Moon, but also the shells can take the shape like a helix (similar to DNA or “The Lineage Factor”) and there’s some ideas around The Tower of Babel, which I’ll touch on later.
Wano tipped me off and I realized a lot of mysteries get solved through this snail theory. Wano Snails, are networked because they’re too weak but there are other snails that can communicate anywhere in the world, it would make sense that they’re networked and I think it’s a hint that a giant snail is the backbone of that network.
Even the image of the Wano Snails made me think of pin pointing a location from several other locations, like the Road Poneglyphs.
THE PONEGLYPHS
I think the Poneglyphs are pieces of the Snail’s shell and that this Snail’s shell comprises of different materials some of which is gold (to which the Ancient Kingdom built their City of Gold from) and some of it is the indestructible material of the Poneglyphs. It’s just like the different layers of a real snail’s shell.
The Snail Shell might also be similar to Wapo Metal which has the ability to change shape (just like the Den Den Mushi can change their face to reflect the person talking)
We learned on Jaya with the Dials the even if the creatures that resides in the Shell is dead, the Shell maintains certain attributes. I think the attribute that these Poneglyph Shell pieces hold is the echos of the psionic ability of the main Snail. It hold voices (like the Tone Dials)
I think people like Luffy, Oden and Rogers can hear the Poneglyphs for this reason and that’s why Dials were an important aspect of the story.
I think the manipulation of the Poneglyphs is a technique like learning how to cut all things with Ryou (the ability to cut steel or cut nothing based on the swordsman). I think the stone mason ancestors who became to Kozuki’s took the technique with them when they left from the Ancient Kingdom on Jaya.
Furthermore, the Poneglyphs are obviously not indestructible because they can be carved, Oden transcribes a message from Rogers into one as recent as 20 years ago.
I think the Road Poneglyphs are pieces of the Snail’s shell that tell us where the Snail is sleeping. Sine the World Government doesn’t know about Ryou because they know little about the Samurai, the World Government doesn’t know how to destroy the Poneglyphs.
I think that’s the reason why Wano closed itself off, to keep the secret.
THE ANCIENT KINGDOM:
I think this snail originally resided next to the ancient kingdom on Jaya and that’s the missing hole on Jaya. The entrance into the cove being where the Snail’s head was.
I think the Snail wasn’t of Earth, it fell to Earth and that connected to the snail was technology from beyond the stars. I think this is hinted at by how easily the snails take to being hooked into technology.
There’s also the idea that the Snails communicate with an ability like electricity. As characters grow stronger in One Piece, we see their Haki start reacting like Lightning.
We also see Nami gain the ability to manipulate Lightning, I think this is all connected somehow.
The Giant Snail might even be a Giant Ship just like the Germa 66 snail ships used to climb the Red Line. If you consider it a ship then it makes the snail head a prowhead, just like a Viking ship.
I think the Ancient Kingdom learned from studying this Snail how to do things like mix organics and technology (the origin of cybernetics), how to manipulate the lineage factor of living beings (the origin of the Devil fruit), Haki and how to imbue Haki into things (creating things like Wapol Metal, The Vivre Cards, the Black Blades and the Poneglyphs)
BELLS
Bells ring and Den Den Mushi’s ring, I think Jaya had the Giant Bell in hopes of awakening the Giant Snail.
You may also notice that Den Den Mushi’s usually look sleepy but there’s a notable instance that I remember when a Den Den Mushi naturally looks awake and happy.
When it’s been freed
THE VIVRE CARD
The Vivre Cards are also an application of these Snail technique, using some secret material along with a fingernail from the person you can create a Vivre card.
The Vivre Card takes advantage of the Lineage Factor and this psionic network, it acts like a compass to find people across the Network.
Like the Lode Star finds the electromagnetic fields of the islands. The Lode Star also makes you think of “The North Star”, which has a space association.
SEASTONE
I don’t think Seastone has the same origin as the Poneglyphs, I think it’s a weapon to use against the Snail.
It might even be the prevalence of this stuff in the water that keeps the Giant Snail lethargic and asleep with the whole world’s water being flooded with the stuff (just like how it affects the Devil Fruit users) … it might have been the original weapon against the Snail of the Ancient Kingdom?
It can be carved using the properties of Ryou and that’s why learning Haki lets you capture the Logia Devil Fruit users, the same as Seastone can.
I think the World Government knows about this Snail or something close to it and that’s why the World Government produces so much Seastone.
It was weird that on Dresrossa there was an entire building made with Seastone, where would this come from? I think Donflamingo got it from the Celestial Dragons.
THE VOICE OF ALL THINGS:
I believe this is the psionic network connecting all living things with the backbone being the psionic abilities of the Giant Snail. Which is why the Poneglyphs have a voice too, along with other people and creatures.
PLUTON:
When Franky sees the plans for Pluton he’s so surprised “How could something like this be built?” I think it’s because Pluton has an organic component.
Franky’s story also revolves around him building a ship that can battle Sea Kings.
Franky during the two year time gap ends up on an island notable for fusing organics with technology. Franky’s cyborg arc and building boats is tied together.
My thought is that Pluton is a Sea King converted into a Battle Ship. This is why Poseidon would help in building Pluton because Poseidon can control the Sea Kings, if the World Government controls Poseidon then they can build a fleet of Sea King Battleships, making Pluton reproducible and incredibly powerful.
THE DEVIL FRUITS
We know they can be artificially created as Vegapunk created a nearly perfect one which Momo ate. The Tontattas were used to grow the artificial Devil Fruit but what do we also know about them?
They have the tendency to automatically free any Den Den Mushi, it’s an interesting quirk of theirs. I think the Tontattas were the descendants of those who first created the Devil Fruit and I think they show the connection between the Den Den Mushi and the Devil Fruits.
We also know people can manipulate the Genetic Lineage to effect the properties of the Devil Fruit. Chopper has the ability to do this through his Rumble Balls, so I think the original Devil Fruit is something like the Rumble Balls and that they’re linked through the psionic network like the Vivre Cards.
I think the fusing of the Devil Fruits with objects, as Vegapunk pioneered is similar to how the Dials on Skypeia get their abilities. They’re pieces of shell that get imbued with abilities like the objects that Vegapunk make eat Devil Fruits.
The Paramecia Devil Fruits are just advanced tech to give objects properties as tools, I think they’re intended to be used on objects and were not intended to be used on people.
SO WHY WAS THE ANCIENT KINGDOM DESTROYED?
I think the story of the Ancient Kingdom shares some commonality with The Tower of Babel
The story of the Tower of Babel was that all of humanity was United as one but in their quest to reach the heavens, they offended god and they were dashed across the world, never to come together.
“God overturns the tower with a great wind. In the Talmud, it said that the top of the tower was burnt, the bottom was swallowed, and the middle was left standing to erode over time (Sanhedrin 109a).”
This is a good reference to wind, as wind is a strong theme in the story. We even have wind save Luffy when we first see Dragon.
If the ‘Tower’ is a giant Den Den Mushi in this story then destroying the Tower will confound humanities ‘speech’. Also if you’ve noticed with the spiral of the Tower it’s similar to that of a Snail Shell.
WHAT DOES BLACKBEARD WANT?
A running gag regarding some of the characters like Luffy, Garp and Zoro is how they’ll fall asleep mid conversation. These characters are also known for their exceptional Haki and strength. I think that they’re sensitive to the Giant Snail and that’s a side effect because it’s sleeping.
I think Blackbeard is also sensitive to the Snail but for him it isn’t helpful, it hurts him and so Blackbeard wants to kill the Snail so that he can finally get a good night’s sleep.
Blackbeard never sleeps and I think that’s the reason why, it’s why he frequently grabs his head when overwhelmed as if the sound in his head is ringing out loudly.
Blackbeard talks about “Dreams never die” but you know what does die? The Dreamer.
I think Blackbeard wanted the Gura Gura no Mi to shatter this Snail and that’s why the use of the Gura Gura no Mi is characterized by slamming ones fist like a hammer. Why it’s characterized like a pane of glass (or a shell) shattering.
Not only does it do this but it can also overturn an Island or a Snail as big as an Island.
I think Blackbeard wants to kill this Snail and create Darkness so he can sleep.
It sounds silly but I think that’s what makes him such a foil to Luffy, as Luffy’s dream for after he sails the whole Grand Line is also seen as silly.
THE GIANTS
I think that if the Snail is a Giant Ship then you’ll need Giants to pilot it, the reason the World Government and the Giants have been so antagonistic for ages is because the World Government (headed by the Celestial Dragons) has seen the Giants as their ancient enemy.
But they need the Giants to pilot the Snail Ship, which is why they specially have their own special Giant squad in the Marines and why they’ve been studying turning humans into Giants on Punk Hazard.
Big Mom might know something about this too and it’s why she said that if it weren’t for Lola she would have already obtained the One Piece through the marriage with the Giants.
The Giant Ship might take all types to pilot it and that’s why Big Mom is having some many children and collecting all the races to help her use the One Piece.
THE CELESTIAL DRAGONS
It’s clear the 5 Elders and Imu know what happened in the past and by keeping this knowledge from the World from people they can stop them from rebelling and seeking out the One Piece.
I don’t think they know where it’s hidden but they’ve been working this whole time to find it. The bridge at Tequila Wolf might be a project to find it by creating a bridge that expands around the whole world.
Speaking of Tequila wolf, the stones they see pulling to construct Tequila Wolf are similar to the stones they’re shipping from Wano.
GOL D ROGERS
I think what he meant by being “too early” is that the Snail couldn’t be awoken yet and he knew this because up close he could hear it’s unconscious voice clearer.
I think Oden knew this too which is why he could tell that in 20 years it would be ready to awaken.
This unconscious communication would be similar to how in Wano, Luffy can still communicate with Momo while being unconscious.
THE ONE PIECE
As I said, I think it’s the Giant Snail or at the very least the technology integrated into the Giant Snail.
Tom the Shipwright put a strong emphasis that a ship can be for war or it could be for peace.
It’s not the ship’s fault.
The One Piece can be a giant weapon to terrorize and control the world through its overwhelming power … or a way to communicate with the whole world.
Maybe even granting the ability to communicate beyond the stars?
I think the series might end with them taking the Giant Ship into space, a perfect ending would be them starting a new adventure across the stars.
THE ANCIENT WEAPONS
I think it’s part of the Giant Ship
Poseidon being the engine, pulled along by the Sea Kings (I think the Sea Kings could be cyborgs too, we’ve seen on Wano that they can make cyborgs as almost perfect looking animals)
Pluto is the body
Uranus being something like a sail (something like the bubble technology that the Fish Men use but strong enough to survive space travel)
There’s hints after Arabasta that it’s important to discover who it was who classified these as Weapons, as I don’t think the Poneglyphs refer to them as Weapons.
LASTLY
I think it’ll be absolutely hilarious for them to get to the end of the world expecting a giant treasure and it’s just a Giant F**king Sleeping Snail!?
With how ubiquitous the Den Den Mushi’s are, this would be an incredible surprise.

2021.04.18 15:55 MisterNetflix 1 Year (sort of) of sailing

Wall of text story incoming
I used to play OPTC in 2015, I picked the game up right before going on a roadtrip with my family and immediately got hooked. I've been a fan of one piece for almost a decade now and loved the game (I even have a one piece tattoo). I even browsed this subreddit and if anyone wants to they can go look at my comments from 5+ years ago lol. Around spring 2016 I quit the game. My account was f2p and had Sengoku and Inthawk as the only legends.
Eventually, I went through some traumatic shit in early 2020 (before covid) and needed to fill a void. I ended up coming across some optc sugo pull videos on youtube and it got me back into the game. My old account was long gone and wasn't really good anyway so I just made a new account.
So uhhhh yeah, I play this game because I love one piece.

2017.08.11 20:09 CAMUNAI Escaping WCI: The arabian nights

Hi guys! Hope you are doing well. In this post I am explaining how the mugiwaras could leave WCI. I want also to say sorry, because I told some people I was doing a theory on Devil fruits for this break but I wasnt expecting it to be this soon. So I am posting a much more "lighter" theory.
The Arabian Nights
So a very particular thing from this arc which has been pretty overlooked is the amount of references to the novel "The arabian nights" A.K.A " The thousand and one nights".
This novel is about a King who has lost faith on finding a woman with good heart so he just spends the night with a different lover, next morning the women would be executed. Until Sherezade appears in his life, this clever, nice and beautiful girl told a story to the king every night but she did not finish it in order to leave the king with a cliffhanger until the next day so he couldnt kill her.
For sure you will know some of the nost famous stories told by Sherezade: "Aladdin's Wonderful Lamp", "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves", and "The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor.
So which references have we already seen?.
Aladdin references
-Pudding has arabic clothing and rides a flying carpet and like the princess of the tale doesnt want her parent to decide her husband.
-Daifuku is a genie in a lamp.
-Jinbe's second mate is named Aladdin.
Ali baba references Brook and Pedro are dressed arabic style and get into a secret chamber to get a treasure being noticed but fulfilling their purpose.
Simbad references
Well, this story is a bit less known. But just for you to know this may be the first tale ever told about piracy, so this took Oda's attention for sure. Simbad was a poor man that decided to travel the seas and had 7 great voyages.
I think Oda took many inspirations from this tale not only for the current arc but for One piece in general. Let's see some of the journeys:
First journey: Simbad arrives to an island which happens to actually be a giant whale. (Laboon)
Second journey: simbad gets casted away to an island full if diamonds but he has no food. (Sanjis flashback)
Fourth journey: Simbad arrives to an island where people have eating disorders. They get crazy periodically after eating a poisonous food. Simbad gets married and they capture him and make him prisoner. Later an animal shows him a escape-path. (This is very similar to WCI in my opinion)
In addition Simbad always tells the Califa about his last journey. Sanji "fights" against Califa (the soap woman).
Also in his last journey Simbad fights bird-people, who are actually demons. I think Sanji will fight Laffite, he is somehow similar to him for me and he has a flying zoan.
Now the most important thing for this theory:
In his second and fifth journey Simbad has troubles with the legendary creatures called "Roc". These are giant birds. In one ocassion Simbads crew is about to eat a giant egg but suddently a giant newborn chick breaks the egg and her mother comes to rescue him. In another time Simbad uses a Roc to escape from an island.
Do you know where i am going??
Big Mom piarates robbedg giant eggs to eat, They are considered "mythical" by perospero and pudding said we still have some espare.
The editor of One Piece said the climax of the arc hasnt arrived yet. This is not a original idea from me, but like other people in my opinion a bustercall will happen because stussy thinks the BM pirates are weakened, she is from CP0 and said "Is this the end of BM pirates...?" Plus this cover page with the tittle "Bustercall" and a "exploded" cake says it all.
(Chapter 420s coverpage) But who is coming in the buster call? These giraffes tell us the answer:
(734 coverpage)
Each giraffe is an admiral:
-First giraffe: Akainu, same tattoos
-Third giraffe: Fujitora, with eyes closed and with a poster saying "next". He would make his first appearance a few chapters ahead.
-Fourth giraffe: Greenbull ( the japanese name doesnt mean "bull", it is a more geneirc word), look at his tattoo pattern. Now look to the tattos of the left arm of this Bisson:
(Chapter 838 colorspread) Perfect match!
Now... So then who is the second giraffe??? Easy, the other admiral left, Kizaru. His Star pattern is a symbol of light and he also has that confident/mocking glare he gave to marco and Beck Beckman.
So what does kizarus giraffe tattos tell us? To me the skull simbolizes Totland. Totland means deathland in german and we already have seen 4 people die before the climax arrived, that is a lot for One piece. Jinbe also has the skull pattern on his kimono. And the G-77 tattoo, well it can be related to a change in Germa double six. What change? I dont know but maybe kizaru arrives in a "bustercall" and kills Judge. Making Reiju taking the command of the new GERMA DOUBLE SEVEN.(Sanjis first bounty is 77 million). A fight between Kizaru and Sanji has been teased already in an anime opening and a lot of people want to see it, if kizaru killed Judge that would be extra hype.
Most of the people would prefer Greenbull to appear but I think he should shine in his first appearance and now its not the moment for that.
With a Reverie in the near future sending an admiral is a big deal, but if Stussy called the headquarters saying " Ive seen the big mom pirates falling from the top of WCI, they are weak now" I can see akainu really going crazy to take down a yonko. He is not like sengoku, he wants absolute justice and doesnt believe in the power balance. And that could be a mistake he does that can take a role in a future.
The bustercall would be perfect to make the Big Mom pirates forget about the strawhats. And at that moment the typical "deux ex machina" will happen.
While Sanji is preparing the cake a giant egg will open on the sunny with an enormous chick crying for his mom. The mother will consider the Sunny looks like a perfect nest. Some pannels later this will happen:
(Color spread of chapter 338) Isnt a birth in death-land very poetic? After so many people dying a newborn could save the protagonists.
A bunch of birds will take the sunny and the strawhats will escape from totland flying, avoiding the bustercall. Since the colorspread says " the winner takes it all". They are probably taking the ingredients with them. The colorspreads shows flour and sake containers. (They may be eating cake for a week haha).
The thousand sunny got his name because it would travel " a thousand days of sunny days" similar to the thousand nights of tales from the book. In the colorspread I posted it looks like the birds are using ropes to take the ship.
This would be the perfect moment for Luffy to use his voice of all things to control the birds. Or it could be that Chopper spent the timeskip with giant birds for this moment, remember Chopper can speak to the animals too.
Flight has been teased to be important to escape.
