2024.05.14 21:21 Healthy_Condition524 How do I (M24) get closer with people that are the closest thing to my(M24) friends?

For a large part of my life I’ve felt sort of alone. I could have fun with my classmates, with my group mates, my colleagues, but I feel like there have never been someone that I can call a friend, someone that I talk to in person consistently, someone that I trust, someone that I discuss personal things with, etc. and for who I reciprocate with these things.
My quality of life improved greatly when I graduated and got my first job, but for half a year I barely socialised. Then I found an amazing community with people of my age, we play board games, go to some active events, we even travel sometimes. I have fun with them, but still no friends.
There are some people that I like more than others, and it seems to be mutual, but we don’t hang out outside of the community. But I’ve found some people that I actually spent some time with outside of the community. I know some of them since July, some since December, we started to occasionally hang out in February.
We played board games on our own twice, we traveled once to do some skiing, we went to the club twice, and there were somewhat personal conversations with one guy(let’s call him A) on our way home, but there were also some moments that upset me.
  1. it’s the smallest of these things, but in the context of the other things, I also included this one. We had our own chat for our trip. Then it sort of died. One day, after an event in the original community, one guy(let’s call him B) from that group invited me to play board games. I went with them and had a great fun. Soon I realized that after the trip, they had a group chat that I wasn’t invited to. The best thing I could hope for is that it was created on the day when they decided to go to a club, and I was invited, but I had other plans, so maybe that’s why they didn’t invite me then, which is not a problem since I went to play board games with them on the next day. It annoyed me a bit that when I texted another guy(let him be C), he seemed to reply quickly, but when I asked if he could add me to the chat, he took some time to read and reply.
  2. They planned to go travel abroad, I heard them talking in person how they should schedule their trips to hang for some time, they wanted to mostly go on their own trips but meet for a day or two (in our group there are also couples, B and C have girlfriends, so they wanted to mostly have time to themselves and then A traveled abroad too). When I later asked in the chat, who goes there when, so I could meet you travel and meet you there too, they were at first very vague (« Oh we don’t know, we all depart at different dates »), but then at least B had the honesty to kind of reject me, and tell me that they needed to travel in their group, and then once we’re closer to each other, maybe I could go with them some other time. This really puzzled and annoyed me, because I didn’t want to be a liability and I wanted to travel on my own and then meet them like A did and also, there’s another guy in the group, D, who seemed to join them at the last minute, I was with them when we heard the news, they were surprised because from what we know about him he probably couldn’t afford it. And to be honest, I can’t either without saving some money in advance, although I could’ve used my credit card, but I wouldn’t have gone anyway since I probably couldn’t have gotten the days off at my job, which kind of makes the rejection feel pointless. One day, when they were still abroad, I for the first time did NOT have fun at the board game that I love the most, expecially when I play it with these guys, then when I returned home I saw them having fun abroad in Instagram stories and in my bad mood that really hurt me for a night.
  3. Recently C celebrated his birthday, I kind of heard about planning it a few times that I hang out with them. I wasn’t invited to the party.
We really enjoy our time together, we joke a lot, I joke a lot, I guess I had developed a decent sense of humour out of loneliness and desire for attention in high school. When I play that game with these guys I become the most unhinged in a good way, sometimes my jokes are cringe, actually mostly with them, when I filter less the jokes that come to my mind, sometimes they are hilarious, sometimes they actually analyze them and tell that with a different delivery some of them would be funny. In any case, I never insult anyone, or maybe I just think this way, who knows.
We may be different, A and B work(ed) in sales, C seems to have started his own business, when we don’t joke around, they talk about economy, business, geopolitics, investments a lot, I am a software developer and I don’t know much about these things, I guess I read the Big Short and wasted 200$ in sum over the few times I tried forex trading and I read a lot about it. But then D, who kind of worked in sales but not really to the same scale and knows nothing about those topics either seems to be closer to the group, he was invited to the party and he traveled abroad with them too. So it’s not exactly the difference in interests and level of some success.
I don’t know how to become closer to them, how to finally have somebody I can call friends and actually should I? Maybe if they were my people, it wouldn’t be this complicated, but then who do I have left if they are the closest thing to my friends?
Maybe someday I could get a chance to talk with A about all of that, or maybe even specifically text him to hang out and talk in a bar or something to find out what is wrong. If that’s the right thing to do then how do I do it to not seem weak, or to not make them feel guilty? Or can I just text him about it?

2024.05.14 21:21 PaleoWorldExplorer My Idea for the New Sequel's Plot: GxK: Pandemonium

My idea for the GxK sequel plot would begin with Godzilla waking up from his sleep in the Colosseum and returning to Tiamat's former layer to complete his evolution. Fast forward a few months later, and Godzilla emerges from the lair, completing his evolution and starting to look a little bit more like Tiamat.
Fast forward a few years, and Monarch detects two previously unknown Titans emerge from the Hollow Earth, Titanus Qalupalik, an ugly serpent-like fish or amphibian emerging from the Arctic Circle, and Titanus Dakuwaqa, a shark Titan emerging from a portal in the sea near Kadavu Island. Monarch figures they are here to take over the niches left by Scylla and Tiamat. Godzilla encounters Qalupalik first, who is combative, and they get into a quick one-sided fight which forces Qalupalik to submit. Godzilla gives her a pass and accepts her to take Tiamat's place. Then Godzilla meets up with Dakuwaqa, who begins a ritualistic dance of sorts to gain Godzilla's approval. After Godzilla inspects him and his demeanor, he accepts Dakuwaqa to take his new territory. Then, Godzilla moves to Madagascar to rest.
On the human side of the story, public outrage over the incompetence of both Monarch and world governments to prepare for these Titan attacks is at an all-time high. Governments are now arguing over how to deal with them. Some leaders want to eliminate Godzilla because they believe Godzilla is going to attack them anyway regardless of whether they provoke him or not and that he is too powerful to let alive. Others want to focus more on a Hollow Earth takeover and declare war on the Kongs because they fear that they can plan another attack on the surface world. Monarch tries to assure them that such an event would not happen again because of their change in leadership, but many are still unconvinced. The American government, along with other NATO countries, begin investing in developing a new type of military weapon to deal with Godzilla, the Super X. They also are trying to seal up the holes left in Hong Kong, Cairo, and Rio de Janeiro to ensure nothing from the Hollow Earth can use those portals to invade the surface world again. Monarch gets into heated conflicts over world governments over the portals, as they want to keep a few open for research purposes among other things. The governments relent and allow the portal in Barbados to remain open but require them to invest in extra security in case of an emergency.
Returning to Godzilla, he is suffering from irritating skin parasites (these parasites would be Shockirus, Endoswarmers, or an original kaiju). To deal with them, he begins trying to scrape them off by rubbing himself against the seafloor near the coast of Madagascar. He also tries reaching for some with his jaws and claws. The people on the beach are witnessing this as it is happening, and once Godzilla gets rid of most of the parasites, the beachgoers realize that some of them haven't been killed yet, and as they are aggressive and still larger than humans, they emerge from the shore to attack humans. But this terror is short lived as Godzilla quickly comes in to finish them off. Godzilla then returns back to the water but stays close enough to the island where people can clearly see him. He floats in the water, similarly to a crocodile, with his head and eyes above the water. He is staring at the people and the coasts intensely, which makes the beachgoers feel uncomfortable. Then, it transitions to some flashbacks where we see Madagascar 5 million years ago. These flashbacks would likely be of Godzilla's memories of his youth, from his birth to the other megafauna that used to exist on the island back in the day. Then, it would transition to another flashback where Godzilla encounters some indigenous people on Madagascar as a more mature individual. He curiously stares at the people and the chieftain looks back with great reverence. The people bow and begin to worship him, and Godzilla continues to look at them tenderly. Returning back to the present day, Godzilla lets out a deep low bellow, which gives off the impression of sadness. In reality, Godzilla is upset that he has become more disconnected to the world he protects and now feels like his life has become nothing but fighting to protect it without being able to take pleasure in its wonders.
Switching the attention to Kong, a fight sequence occurs between Kong and another Great Ape wielding a heavy machete. They are fighting in the battle arena as some apes watch the fight while others are busy doing other things. Kong prevails and the Great Ape falls to the ground. After the fight, Kong helps the Great Ape back up. It turns out the fight was nothing more than training; one of the things Kong has begun to do since his rise to power is to teach his people self-defense. As the audience gets a better look of what life is now like in their layer, it is revealed that Kong has recruited a group of Great Apes to assist him in pushing forward his policies. For example, there is a group of Great Apes that are tasked with keeping track of their inventory and rationing their food and water for the tribe. Another group was tasked to build a safe bridge replacing the giant skeleton, which was at this point completed. Others are taking care of the children and so on. Then there are apes that are farming fields of crops, which Mothra periodically visits to pollinate. Shimo, meanwhile, is just chilling with the apes and is not confined to her pit anymore. Kong has no generals or anyone with military roles as he has no interest in conquest and does not see the need for an army at the moment. Kong also does not allow anyone to gather food or water on their own except for him, because he does not want to put anyone else in danger. He meets up with Suko after his duel and is approached by Boots, who is also now a trusted advisor to him, and is alerting him of an approaching Titan. It turns out to be a squadron of Monarch HEAVs and Jet Jaguar, piloted by Trapper. After the fight in Rio, Monarch sent expedition crews to visit the Kong lair, and were horrified by the living conditions that Skar King created. So, they planned an initiative to deliver humanitarian aid to the apes, providing them with food or water, and also trying to make diplomatic measures with them and the Iwi tribe. They have developed a new type of bioengineered crop made from various Hollow Earth flora and Titan cells to feed the apes (which can be a set-up for Biollante in a future installment) and a new type of HEAV that can carry a heavier load to transport these resources. They also created a humanoid mech named Jet Jaguar, piloted by Trapper, which serves as both a diplomat and a vet, fully equipped with veterinary tools that allow it to treat pathologies for Titans, including the Great Apes. In addition, Monarch has rebuilt the Titan Hunter with some improvements as NATO voted to force them to reconstruct it as a self-defense weapon in case of another Titan attack. Since that has not happened yet since the Rio attack, the Titan Hunter has not yet been used. Jet Jaguar and the HEAVs are arriving at the lair with another shipment of resources, including more tools for the apes to plant their own crops. While the Great Apes begin to collect the shipments from the HEAVs, Kong greets Jet Jaguar, who is here to treat a Great Ape with severe physical ailments. This ape has torn tendons and ligaments from slave labor and requires casts for all of his limbs. The challenge with treating the apes is that they are still cautious of foreigners, so Monarch has had to learn patience when working with them. They also have only one mech to perform surgeries with, so they can only treat one ape at a time. Kong and Jet Jaguar meet up with the patient, an as they perform surgery, Kong has to be with the ape to soothe and comfort him as Jet Jaguar begins surgery. After a successful surgery is completed and the Monarch team departs, Kong sits back and looks at his tribe. He begins to have feelings of self-doubt, that he is not up for the task, despite trying his best. He also still feels Skar King's presence, as the pain and damage he has caused still greatly lingers even after death. Kong begins to suffer from insomnia and nightmares from Skar King, showing his presence is still strong and relentless even after death.
Then, the Monarch team visits the Iwi city and delivers the rest of their resources which were designated for them. Here, in this scene, while the audience gets a better glimpse of what life for the Iwi is like, they also get to see Phosphera, another guardian Titan (The best explanation I can come up for why Phosphera did not show up to fight Skar King in the previous movie here would be that she was in a metamorphosing stage during the events of GxK and was too immature to safely break out of her cocoon until after the events of the movie.)
Back on the surface world, in a lab somewhere in the U.S, scientists are experimenting with a genetically modified colony of Shinomura, which would be the main antagonist(s) of the first half. These scientists work closely with the federal government. They believe that it would be more effective to genetically engineer a kaiju superbug that can quickly evolve, spread and annihilate the Hollow Earth ecosystem at much lower costs than constructing mechs which take much longer to do and a lot more money. The cells are dormant and can only be activated by exposure to radiation, which is why Godzilla does not detect them or see them as a threat. The cells are transported by a ship to North Carolina where another portal to the Hollow Earth has been opened. The military plans to release them into the Hollow Earth and then quickly seal it, but it is backfired by a group of mercenaries who attack the ship and want to take the cells for themselves. Unfortunately, the cells are released, and they are not far from a nuclear power plant which also happens to be using the pink super charged radiation gathered from the Hollow Earth, so the cells multiply and grow, turning into a swarm. The cells combine into arthropod like monsters that are too small to be Titans but large enough to attack humans. They begin attacking nuclear plants and surrounding cities while others retreat into the Hollow Earth, which catches Godzilla's attention. Mothra gains wind of it too and emerges onto the surface world to aid Godzilla. By the time Godzilla gets to North Carolina, the swarm has absorbed enough energy to combine into a singular, massive, supercharged form that rivals Godzilla in size. They begin to fight, while the military decides to resort to Plan B and send the Super X against Godzilla. The first battle is fairly even until the Super X begins to attack both Shinomura and Godzilla, blasting chunks of Shinomura away. It becomes a three-way battle until Shinomura escapes and retreats into the ocean while Godzilla is distracted fighting the Super X. Mothra eventually arrives and Godzilla and Mothra destroy the Super X. Then Godzilla pursues the main Shinomura heading for Japan while a few other smaller colonies move to other locations.
Back in the Hollow Earth, the Shinomuras that escaped there quickly grow and begin running amok on the planet. Kong is travelling with Shimo and Suko. They are gathering more food and water to bring back to the tribe, but their trip is quickly interrupted by a squadron of Shinomuras that have combined into their arthropod like forms but now rival Kong in size. Kong leaves Suko with Shimo and takes them on himself. He has no problem ripping the Shinomuras apart with his axe and bare hands. He overpowers them individually, but as the Shinomuras recombine and reshape themselves, they begin to overwhelm him. He notices Shimo and Suko are prompted to do something about it, even though he doesn't want them to, but eventually relents and retreats into a nearby body of water to shake them off of him. Kong quickly jumps out of the water and Shimo freezes and traps the Shinomuras in the water. The trio realize that even more Shinomuras are on the way and transforming into something deadlier. The three immediately turn back and run straight for the lair. As they are running, Kong gets flashbacks of being pursued by Skar King's goons; the Shinomuras remind him of the destruction and chaos that was left behind in Skar King's advance. Kong calls out to the apes farming as he makes it back to the lair and motions them to get inside immediately. He closes up the entrance and warns everyone of the emergency. He has everyone gather all of the resources they have and take refuge in Shimo's former lair, which they now use as an emergency bunker. Boots signs Kong what are they going to do next, and Kong admits he doesn't know, but he intends to be the one to check when it is safe to leave again. Meanwhile, the Iwi are in a similar predicament and Phosphera swoops in to defend the barrier against the invading Shinomuras.
In response to all of this, Monarch sends militaristic HEAVs to neutralize the Shinomuras and has Trapper (or some other character) tasked to pilot Titan Hunter to pursue the main Shinomura on the surface and kill it. Kashiwazaki is evacuated before Shinomura arrives on the scene. Shinomura begins to attack the Kashiwazaki nuclear plant when Godzilla and Mothra arrive to fight it once again. As this is happening, the other colonies arrive to other regions of the world, gaining more strength and attacking other major cities. Godzilla notices this and is conflicted on how to deal with the threats as he is fighting, but Jet Jaguar arrives in Kashiwazaki to fight Shinomura. Godzilla charges up to attack Titan Hunter, thinking he is a threat to him just like the Super X, but Trapper notices this and bows to Godzilla before he can attack. Godzilla accepts this surrender, but quickly shifts his attention back to the Shinomura. Eventually, Titan Hunter, Godzilla, and Mothra defeat the Shinomura, but soon after, several Shinomura supercolonies that supercharged themselves on Hollow Earth energy have reemerged on the surface world to the point where there is at least one attacking each continent of the world. The largest and most powerful colony is in the Yucca Mountain Nuclear West Repository in Nevada. Godzilla is forced to send his alpha call and awaken all of the surface Titans to attack the Shinomuras, so battles begin breaking out across the world. But Godzilla realizes it is not enough and ventures into the Hollow Earth to get more help. Mothra and the Titan Hunter stay behind to hold the line while Godzilla is away and Mothra moves on to Nevada to tackle the Shinomura there, and the Titan Hunter follows her.
Most of the Titans appear to be holding their ground for the most part, but not outright winning either. However, they start to have more problems as some Titans take advantage of the chaos to pursue ulterior motives. Amhuluk wants to fight to claim his desired territory in the Amazon again and travels to the Amazon to fight Behemoth over it and causing a three-way fight between them and the Shinomura colony attacking the region. Meanwhile, in the Hollow Earth, Camazotz reemerges and sends his minions out to devour everything in their path, including the smaller Shinomuras. So Amhuluk and Camazotz become the main antagonists during the second half. Some of the hell swarm attacks the ape lair, and Kong leaves to confront them before they break through. He is able to kill a large number of them, but there are too many for him to handle, forcing him to retreat back into the lair. Several escape into the lair, which Kong is able to kill. When he reunites with his people, he gets more flashbacks of his memories of both Camazotz and Skar King. The attack of the hell swarm reminds him of the invasion Skar King launched against the Hollow Earth and surface world a few years back.
Godzilla travels through oceanic Hollow Earth portals and passes through various ruins of extinct Hollow Earth civilizations along the way. He detects Amhuluk's movements and realizes what he is doing. Godzilla gets really mad, but reluctantly continues on his current path as going back to confront Amhuluk would take up too much time and energy. He makes it into the Hollow Earth and heads over to the ape lair and finishes off the rest of the hell swarm that was still attacking the lair. Afterwards, he charges up his breath and blasts the entrance open again, startling all of the apes. Kong grabs his axe and gets in a defensive position, but after hearing a roar realizes it is Godzilla. He calmly walks into the ape lair, but the other great apes become angry and leave the bunker to mob, surround and harass Godzilla. Godzilla does his best not to escalate tensions, but snaps his jaws, hisses, and sometimes pushes the apes away. Kong roars at the apes and directs them to move away from him. The apes follow his orders and Kong approaches Godzilla. He realizes that he has called on him for help against the Shinomuras. Kong decides to go with Godzilla but does not want to bring Shimo or any of the apes with him. The apes beg for him not to go, and even Shimo seems to cry out for Kong to stay, but he rejects allowing any of his people to put themselves in danger, and he puts Boots in charge while he is away. He says one final goodbye to Suko and leaves with Godzilla.
They have to fight off many smaller Shinomuras while travelling to the surface world while heading for Nevada. Meanwhile, Mothra and the Titan Hunter are already there fighting with the super Shinomura colony. The fight is rather even, but Trapper feels like the fight is going to quicky turn against their favor if they do not get backup soon. Some drones and fighter jets arrive to strike the Shinomura. Eventually, Godzilla and Kong arrive to fight the Shinomura, but Kong notices the Titan Hunter, and has a vision of Skar King, seeing both the Titan Hunter and Skar King as the embodiment of cruelty, destruction, and conquest. Kong attacks the Titan Hunter out of anger, forcing Godzilla to be the one to shove Kong away and break it up. Kong takes a closer look at the Titan Hunter and realizes that it is not the same pilot as the one that hunted Hollow Earth fauna. The Titan Hunter bows to Kong to show he is on the same side and they resume fighting the Shinomura. So, a large portion of the movie would be showing scenes of the Titans fighting the Shinomuras at random intervals, giving a glimpse of what is going on in all of the areas where fights are happening.
Shifting back to Godzilla and Kong's fight, things begin to look grim as more Shinomuras arrive from the Hollow Earth and combine with the supercolony, and Godzilla, Kong, Mothra, and the Titan Hunter begin to struggle against it. Godzilla is still capable of holding some of his ground, while Kong and Mothra are forced to step back as close-range combat is no longer viable. The Titan Hunter gets beaten up really bad and seems to be done for until an ice blast hits the Shinomura. It is Boots, who is riding Shimo, and has gathered the strongest and physically capable apes to help their leader (A fairly large number of fit apes were left behind to care for the elderly and the children). Kong does not know whether to feel happy that his people have his back or mad that they disobeyed his orders but regroups with them regardless and regain their edge against the Shinomura. Then we see more scenes of the other fights going on around the world before Kong's army, Shimo, Godzilla, Mothra, and the Titan Hunter defeat the super Shinomura. While the organic Titans return to the Hollow Earth to finish off the Shinomuras still running around in there, the Titan Hunter lags behind from all of the damage it has sustained, but the pilot persists with helping the Titans.
Back in the Hollow Earth, Godzilla, Mothra, Kong's army, and Shimo run through the Hollow Earth, assisting the local fauna in fighting off the Shinomuras. The Titan Hunter tries its best to follow them and fight off the Shinomuras, but they eventually overwhelm them, forcing the pilot to eject himself. Luckily, a HEAV is nearby and is able to rescue him. Then, a good chunk of the plot would then focus on shifting back between the Hollow Earth fight and the rest of the fights happening on the surface. Kong directs a portion of his army to join Phosphera in defending the Iwi city, which is now under attack by both Shinomuras and Camazotz's minions. Phosphera is close to dying (and eventually does), but the apes are able to kill most of the enemies while the rest retreat. Godzilla and Kong split up, with Kong pursuing Camazotz and Godzilla returning to the surface to confront Amhuluk. Kong leaves Boots in charge of his army and takes a few other trusted friends of his to confront Camazotz, but Shimo follows them, wanting to accompany them. Kong gets more flashbacks of Skar King when he used Shimo to try to execute him, and Kong was unwilling to let Shimo go with them since he did not want to use her for fighting his enemies. Shimo persists and eventually Kong reluctantly lets her join them.
Back on the surface world, Behemoth is not faring well against Amhuluk. The Shinomura colonies in the eastern hemisphere begin to lose the fight and as some of them are killed, the victor Titans travel to regions of the world where they still persist. In South America, however, the Shinomura colonies are still giving the defending Titans a hard time. Behemoth and Amhuluk killed the Shinomura colony, but to Behemoth's dismay, Amhuluk absorbs the remains of the Shinomura colony. It is close to killing Behemoth until Rodan shows up to fight Amhuluk. Rodan quickly gets the upper hand over Amhuluk with his airborne abilities and greater agility. But Amhuluk is not affected that much by Rodan's fiery attacks, as he reinforced his body with fire resistant plants like redwoods. The tables turn on Rodan until Godzilla emerges to fight Amhuluk. So Rodan and Godzilla tag team Amhuluk while Behemoth tries to get the strength to get back up.
Meanwhile, back in the Hollow Earth, Kong, his few trustees, and Shimo are looking for Camazotz and travel through a dark, stormy stretch of rough, mountainous terrain. They find Camazotz in a plateau surrounded by a supercell. They see that Camazotz's minions are feeding him, and he is gaining strength from the radiation that his minions got from hunting Shinomuras. So, Kong, his trustees, and Shimo fight the hell swarm and Camazotz. At this point, the Shinomuras are losing out on the fight with a few large colonies remaining, and Amhuluk and Camazotz become the main threats now. The plot then moves on to showcase some of the final remaining fights between defending Titans and the last Shinomura colonies and see the fights end with the Shinomuras killed. So, the main focus turns to Godzilla's fight, Kong's fight, the fight at the Iwi city barrier, and Boots' crusade to kill the last Shinomuras, which is coming to an end. The fight between Kong and his allies and Camazotz eventually breaks through onto the surface in Canada. Camazotz creates a supercell storm and begins getting an upper hand against Kong and his allies with his new power up. Back in Brazil, Godzilla eventually kills Amhuluk and Rodan and Godzilla both head to Canada. Behemoth gets the strength to get back up.
Back in Canada, Kong and the apes come up with a new strategy to cover their ears with dirt as protection against Camazotz's sonic screams. Kong then tries to do the same with Shimo, but when he does, Shimo does not like the sensation and pushes Kong away. He does not bother trying again and tries to kill all of the minions which are biting him and the apes and causing too much blood loss. Shimo does not fare well against Camazotz despite her size as his cyclone and sonic scream overwhelm her ice breath. Eventually, Mothra emerges to fight him after dealing with the last of the Shinomuras and blasts him with her god rays. Highly stunned and weakened, Kong grabs ahold of Camazotz and notices Rodan approaching to help. He throws him at Rodan's direction, who grabs him with his talons and starts burning him. He holds him in place for Mothra to shoot Camazotz with her webbing. Then Rodan drops Camazotz and Kong finishes him off.
Godzilla arrives onto the scene not long after and shoots his atomic breath to eliminate Camazotz's storm. With all of the hostile Titans dead, Godzilla almost sends the Titans back to sleep, but Mothra approaches him and begins to communicate. The plot then ends with Godzilla returning to Madagascar to take a rest at the coast and watch life as it happens on the island. Kong returns to his people in victory, and they are finally able to leave their lair safely. And Mothra takes over Godzilla's role of balancer, allowing Godzilla to take his well-deserved vacation. This idea of a plotline would mean the movie would be 2 hr 30 min or even 3 hrs so we get the most fighting sequences out of it. I know I glossed over a lot of the human aspects and that I left a lot of the specifics of how a lot of the fights between most of the unseen KOTM Titans would look like, so let me know what your thoughts on this are.

2024.05.14 21:18 throwra-7-23 Girlfriend (24F) angry that I (27M) left a night out early?

I have been with my gf for 2 years. My gf was meeting some of her friends for a night out and she invited me. I agreed to go since it had been a while since I've been out. The plan was to go for food then to a few bars and then to a club to end the night. The night was going well but after a couple of bars I really wasn't feeling it and wasn't having a good time and decided to call it a night. I told my gf that I was gonna head home but hope she has a great night.
She got annoyed and told me that I shouldn't be leaving her and that now she has no one to get home with. I told her I'd be happy to book her a taxi when she's finished if I was still awake but she just repeated that I should be staying with her. I apologised for wanting to go early but just said I wasn't really enjoying it anymore and that I'd rather just go home.
I said she can let me know when she's leaving so I can book her a taxi and make sure she gets back to our apartment if I'm still awake but she just said I shouldn't be leaving her. I just repeated that I hope she has a good night and then left. The next morning she repeated that I shouldn't have left here and that I should've stayed. How would you handle this?
edit: just to clarify, I wasn't driving and we were planning on getting a taxi home.
tl;dr I agreed to go on a night out with my gf and her friends but wasn't feeling it after a coupe of bars so I left early. My gf got annoyed and said I shouldn't have left early and should've stayed. How would you handle this?

2024.05.14 21:17 SatisfactionThese686 Any advice - has anyone dealt with this when it comes to a manipulative person rewriting history?

If you have ever been in a relationship with someone who was manipulative (in the lines of a covert narcissist) have you ever exposed them and felt that you had found your voice and done the right thing to stand up for yourself or did you regret it and found it a waste of energy?
I was in a relationship with someone 30 years older than me for 7+ years,I met this person in my 20s when I was just learning about myself and getting some freedom from family, after being in abusive environment all my life, I was in a difficult position in certain areas and he basically love bombed until I believed it and so I went for the relationship, he ended up destroying every aspect of my life and my spirit with lies and manipulation, then discarding me and then cycles continued, I lost invaluable years of my youth in this, I went through hell and back many times for 7+ years, I wanted to know the truth of what was going on, it was so hard for me to believe he was hurting me on purpose, and I always thought he was more accomplished than me and a better person than me, so every time I found stuff out, I kept confronting him to get to a resolution, only to be lied by him more and believing it and ended up being hurt again, zero remorse from him for what he put me through.
And on top of it, he used me as a scapegoat for his divorce but he was cheating on his wife for 6+ years before meeting me, he basically made it seem to them like he met me and fell in love and that’s why he got a divorce, this couldn’t be further from the truth and I have proof for it, I never met his adult children but basically the way he spoke about me made it seem that he was always loyal and somehow this just happened or that I wanted him to get a divorce and it was my fault but he pursued me for over a year and lied about things that gave me a different impression of his life, anyways because of how he did things, his children and his whole family thought he is just a nice guy and I was the problem, I have proof that that’s not how things went at all.
I never spoke while in it, first of all he kept me compartmentalized even after marriage but even the times I was included, I was so afraid for so long that I was the crazy one that I just focused on therapy and fixing myself. We have been separated for 3+ years but only the last year I have been able to not allow him back in my life and really see things clearly.
And the past few months with my understanding of my adhd brain, a lot has been making more sense and I have tried to write an email to them explaining how things really went and the lies that he said, he created entire narratives that were lies and he believes them meaning, even if I bring them up to him he will be like, it’s the past and that’s not how he meant it and it’s none of their business to know everything that’s why he didn’t tell them, and he literally will argue over what happened when I was there, he will argue to me in private so I can imagine what he says behind my back, actually some of it I don’t need to imagine it, because 4 years ago I found out emails between him and his kids and they were horrible and it was so traumatic for me along with other things I found out.
This last year I have finally fully moved on emotionally, no longer fall for his manipulations and we are getting a divorce.
Now that I am better, I so badly want to have a voice and speak my truth, but every time I try I end up writing over 10 pages, because it’s that many things to try to explain how I even ended up in this situation. I know and own my part, I know I was stupid and my low esteem and having zero support from anyone else made him the most important person in my life, I used to adore him and it gave him all the supply and sex in the world, I know I missed a million red flags when he felt like my life line, but I can’t help feel with now being older that I was targeted and exploited by this man, and he had done it before and gotten away with it and lately I found out he is doing it again with other young girls in secrecy while he goes around happily seeming like the nice guy who just got caught up in a bad situation. It hurts my soul to not have this cleared up but it’s like my brain can’t explain it in a way that’s short and to the point. I know he has already convinced me that I was crazy in the past and I know he is gonna do that again to basically just put it all on me like he has even in private with me, he has never taken accountability, unless he was trying to manipulate for something he wanted to use me for, then I have gotten an insencere apology and then once he got what he wanted switched again to who he really is.
Has anyone ever spoken the truth about a manipulative person that used you as a scapegoat for his actions, without seeming like the crazy ex?

2024.05.14 21:16 lividlisa Rejected after 5 rounds of interviews based on basic info I provided with my application

This happened last year but still makes me annoyed.
Applied for a remote job with a startup via a referral from a friend who worked there and loved it. Seemed like a perfect fit on paper so I sent over my resume and a cover letter.
Scheduled an initial interview that went great. Continued to be invited to two more rounds of interviews, followed by a live test assignment via Zoom that I aced. Started to feel excessive but it really seemed like an amazing opportunity so I stuck it out. Finally was asked to do a fifth and final interview that was made to seem like more of a formality as I'd be meeting with the entire team I would be working with.
A couple days later I was absolutely shocked to get a rejection email. They thought I was perfect for the job and the whole team loved me, but they'd decided to continue their search with other candidates located in time zones closer to their CEO.
To be fair, I do live several time zones away, but I was extremely up front about my location from the beginning (I mean it's literally on my resume) and it was something we'd addressed during the first interview and concluded wouldn't be an issue. The company is also supposed to be a "global" startup that operates on several continents.
It's totally valid to want to hire remote teams with similar schedules, but I still can't believe they let me put that many hours in for a job I wasn't even qualified for in the first place.
I wanted to call them out, but bit my tongue because they'd mentioned potentially hiring me as a freelancer for an upcoming project and I didn't want to burn any bridges. Of course that email never came.
I'm a lot pickier about how many rounds of interviews I'll do and how much time I'll spend doing free trial work now.

I met @rrajeshyadav05 and @shubhamgaur09 in a screening! You might have seen them in MensXP youtube and Shubham is Jaat from Hostel daze!
We were invited to watch premier for a movie in Delhi Delite and Shubham and Rajest were there, I saw them first time and I am like wow! I want to meet them! So after the movie ends I go to them and say hello to Shubham and don't if he was exhaused with the movie he say hello with a tired face and I was excited and asked if can I get a selfie and he just ignored me while shaking his head as no! Ok! cool .. and its just me there who is asking him since everyone is a kind of big person there in their feild so no one is giving any attention to anyone!
So I just move towards @rrajeshyadav05 and say hello, he smiled and say hellow I asked for selfie he say why not! I took a selfie with him and I say I like his reels and just move on! That's it and it feels so good! made my day! If he also behave like what Shubham did, it might became the worst experience for me!
I know that this might be normal for them! but they just watched a movie and no one is there to give them attention still Shubham is in his own attitude! Maybe there is something more but I think this is not a way to treat someone! and if something is going on he might not be present to watch a movie there in the first place!
I might be wrong! what do you think? give me some sense!

2024.05.14 21:14 Head_Marsupial_9192 Feature Fumble: The Perils of Picking a Bare-Bones POS

Hello all, I'm here to deliver a salutary lesson on the ten most egregious errors to avoid when selecting a point of sale system for your restaurant. Because, frankly, the prospect of inadvertently torpedoing your own enterprise with a disastrous choice is too ghastly to contemplate.
  1. Forgetting About Reviews – Always peruse the reviews. If there’s a consensus that it’s dreadful, it's probably not slander. Unless, of course, the complaints are exclusively from rivals, in which case perhaps invest in several.
  2. Ignoring Integration – Selecting a POS that doesn't mesh with your existing tech is akin to inviting a notoriously difficult relative to a family gathering. It’s an unmitigated recipe for disaster.
  3. Skimping on Features – Opting for a stripped-down system? That’s like purchasing a vehicle devoid of a reverse gear. It moves, yes, but to what end?
  4. Overcomplicating Things – If operating it requires a doctoral thesis, avoid it. Your staff are here to cook and serve, not decode the enigma of quantum mechanics.
  5. Forgetting About Support – A POS without robust support is comparable to a dubious parachute. It might open; then again, it might not. Fancy a gamble?
  6. Paying Too Much – Don't be hoodwinked by exorbitant costs. Expensive does not automatically equate to superior. Remember, that overpriced burger is still just a burger.
  7. Ignoring Security – A system that can't safeguard your data is as prudent as leaving your establishment unlocked overnight. It's a burglar's dream.
  8. Forgetting Scalability – Choosing a system that can’t expand with your business is like swapping your child’s bicycle for a unicycle just as they’ve mastered riding.
  9. Bad User Interface – If it baffles your grandmother, it's too complex. Your POS should be easier to use than brewing a pot of tea.
  10. Ignoring Hardware Compatibility – Ensure your shiny new system is compatible with your existing hardware. You wouldn’t replace all your spoons simply because you fancied new forks, would you?
So, let’s not end up with a lemon, shall we?

2024.05.14 21:12 True-Tension-6870 This girl and I are both interested in each other but it's unclear

So, I started talking to this girl who randomly added me on Instagram about 4 years ago. We got along great and she seemed very shy but interested to message me. As time went on we both came to notice a connection, we would both make each other laugh, great conversations, and even flirt a bit. July 4th 2022 she actually called me on Instagram but unfortunately I didn't hear it, until awhile later. Found out she wanted to see me and meet in person. After that we kept messaging but it went down. I believe she ended up being with some other guy. Fast forward to about a week ago. I liked a photo she posted and she instantly messaged me, in spanish. We got to talking and thought I was with someone which I told her I wasn't, then tells me she doesn't want to interfere if I am because she likes me and has feelings for me. Anyways we tell each other our availability, we decide Saturday, she said she might be able to but won't know until Friday evening at the latest. So I messaged her Saturday, no response until around 7pm telling me that she went with her family and was helping clear some space for a remodel she's doing at her grandmother's house. She was very close to her grandmother as well, lived with her when we started talking. She apologized and said she was so sorry but was very busy cleaning and with her family. 2 different guys tried talking to her and both she screenshot and sent them to me, she told them she's taken. She calls me baby, and mi amor, because we pretty much message only in spanish. She shows her mom a picture of me telling me she thinks I'm handsome as well. Anyways, fast forward to yesterday, I go to linkd in images and her picture pops up. But it's not the same name she has on Instagram. I message her about it and she tells me, "I was hoping you wouldn't see that because I don't like explaining it, I dont even use that app anymore". I told her its nothing bad just don't know why you have a different name. I asked her if she was playing with me and if she could explain. Then I thought about it and told her, you know what nvmd, if you don't feel comfortable telling me right now it's ok, whenever your ready to. She just said thank you for understanding and she's kind of stopped messaging me a bit. Like she's a bit distant. We still message but doesn't feel the same. She also asked me if I was sure about her not telling me. Was it a mistake and should I had seen if she would've told me? Or did I do the right thing? I also want to try again about meeting in person but don't know how she feels. She also told me she's a bit afraid of meeting because she doesn't want to get hurt, like by a failed relationship, that she wants to make sure and realize that she feels safe with me and that I won't leave her. Any pointers on this situation would be great 👍

2024.05.14 21:06 Loose_Boat4988 Mercer MBA Question

Hey everyone,
I'm currently enrolled in a small master's program at Middle Georgia State University, which unfortunately doesn't offer a traditional MBA. Instead, they have options like MBPL (Masters of Business in Professional Leadership) and a Masters of Science in Management. I have a BBA and recently started the MBPL program, but I'm aware it might not hold the same weight as a traditional MBA.
I'm considering pursuing an online MBA from Mercer University because of its low tuition and no GMAT requirement. I'm wondering if obtaining an MBA from Mercer would be a better investment compared to my MBPL degree. Additionally, I'm curious about how much better an MBA from a prestigious university like UF or Duke would be in comparison. Though I'm open to these options, I'm doubtful I meet their requirements or would have high enough test scores for acceptance.
I'm not necessarily aiming for the top-tier programs; I simply want to graduate from a university that offers support services like a student success center and can assist me in finding employment upon graduation—something MGSU lacks. Any feedback or insights you could provide on this decision would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

2024.05.14 21:06 TraditionalStory4816 Need help

I just created this account recently mostly for this sub. I wanted the activity separate from my regular interests.
I've been a heavy drinker for a long time, mostly for fun, and I'd quit for some weeks or months (even years, back in the 90s) and seemed to be drinking a reasonable, if not really healthy, amount.
Then, in February of this year, my husband died of suicide. He'd been depressed and anxious, we'd talk about it, but mostly he hid the depth of his situation and went downhill fast. He did not have a long history of mental health issues. I believe his suicidal ideation and plan really kicked into gear just 3-4 weeks before he did it. We have a wonderful kid who is 15.
At first the trauma made me not interested in drinking, like I wanted to be alert and aware, as if I were in danger. I am still not interested in eating. I soon returned to drinking wine every night, not mindfully, not measuring how much, just basically drowning my sorrows. Now it's like the only thing I sort of look forward to. I'm never happy, but at night when I have that first glass of wine it definitely takes the edge off. I know that the big picture is that it's making everything worse. I'm doing all the other things I can - therapy, support groups, staying busy with work and classes, exercise is bare minimum compared to my old workouts but regular. I'm worried about my health and I need to be here for my kid.
I went to AA with a friend and, I'm sorry, I hated it. It seems to be working for my friend though. But I wanted to drink even more after that meeting. The people I talked to were wonderful. It's just the jargon, the rituals, the repeating your name and description as an addict every time you spoke - it was weird and cultish and I don't think it's the only way.
I have Naltrexone I ordered online. I could start there I guess. I am on Wellbutrin and have Propanolol and also Xanax, which I got after having a panic attack but don't use much. I don't want to add an addiction to benzos to my troubles. I don't know what to ask for here. I'm such a wreck.

2024.05.14 21:06 CaptainObvious126 How to Cut Ties with an Exhausting Friend

I (41F) have a friend (38F) who I have known her since 2000. We reconnected in 2012 and we began hanging out regularly (maybe once a month?). In the last few years, I have found being in her presence to be quite exhausting. She constantly complains about trivial matters, all within her control, like minor dramas with her family, friends, work, etc. When telling these stories, she changes her voice to this whiny shrill. Despite my attempts to steer discussions toward other topics, she seems adept at steering them back to her preferred subjects. When this happens, I just nod as she goes on and on. I don't think she notices that I am not engaged.
What really gets to me is her clinginess, she never takes no for an answer. If I decline an invitation, she either interrogates me about why I can't hang/when I can hang out or hints that I should change my schedule to accommodate hers. If I end a hang out earlier than she likes, she either interrogates me again or insists on walking me home/wherever I said I need to go to, all which are out of her way. I've tried to space out our hang out sessions to every few months but she will try to drag those out/suggest hanging out all day. She is married to a great guy and I know she has a lot of friends so I am not sure why she is so determined for us to hang out.
While she is one of the nicest people you will ever meet, I suspect her behavior stems from coddling, which has led her to believe that her needs and wants are paramount. Her behavior outweighs this niceness and as a result, I no longer have the patience or energy to be treated like an on call personal therapist. I've tried the slow fade but she either doesn't notice or chooses to ignore it, persistently trying to pressure me into hanging out. Blocking her seems too harsh (she is mega annoying but I save blocking for people who have done egregious things) and I'm hesitant about being honest because telling someone their mere existence drives you crazy isn't the most diplomatic approach. From what I've gathered, she doesn't handle confrontation well.
Can you please help me find a solution that's respectful but allows me to maintain my sanity? Thank you!

2024.05.14 21:06 Quirky_Case8458 would you date someone who despite knowing that you have an exam tomorrow wouldn’t wish you?

Have been seeing this guy on and off since two years. Nothing really happened between us. Went on dates, ghosted each other. Went again, efforts didn't match up from the dudes side, told me he was keeping busy. I ended things.
He reached out again continuously for a year, I didn't reply.
Started conversing recently. He hinted on meeting, I told him I have a hectic month. Speaking on and off since.
Now I hate to be making a big deal of it, but told I told him that I'll tell him something later because have an exam tomorrow. Didn't receive any text from him after that.
I personally feel it's a little Idgaf moment from the dudes side. Like is it too hard to just say a simple best of luck? Am I over reacting because I don't think I wanna go on a date with someone like that.

2024.05.14 21:06 tinyhousecellist city councillor invites my tiny home for vacation help and then evicts

Hello,
  1. I am a Tiny home dweller who was seeking new parking spot. In August of 2024 I was approached via FB messenger by a couple with land in Port Hope. A visit was made by the couple to the tiny home at its then current location, and the couple loved it and the garden around it. We had coffee and a nice discussion. An invitation was extended by the couple to visit their new property, which was made. Upon visiting, and traveling the perimeter of the property, an offer was made by them to relocate my tiny home to their property. Their property survey was rolled out, and plans were discussed to possibly create a future Tiny Home village, as the wife had been an owner of a well-known resort in the past. At that time the husband produced his business card identifying himself as a City counsellor, on council for tiny homes. He then tells me I would be able to relocate my home with safety as he had much control over tiny homes as part of his work on council.
  2. This couple invited me to move my house to their farm. We met again at the property, and they told me that their main concern was their upcoming cruise holiday in December, and as long as I could guarantee this month of pet/horse care, and that I must install my home at my own expense and cost them nothing for this permanent/long term move, I had only to work the upcoming month at Christmas, future holidays, in attendance during emergencies, and seasonal gardening in exchange. They helped me get my home installation done on time so that they were able to leave for their vacation. I paid for all services installed, including my own hydro meter, for which I continue to pay monthly charges. I worked the holiday, and we exchanged many texts, photos and messages including photos of their new home build to keep them updated. All went well and they seemed happy for the condition of the horses, pets, and barn when they returned.
  3. Approx. two weeks after their return, they began changing their tone and harassing me with nasty messages, including eviction. I discovered the city councillor had left his position and is now a JP. He no longer has an interest in Tiny homes. They have messaged me with eviction for Sept 1. They have reminded me of their power in the community, and are harassing, threatening, and now blocking my road with boulders and stopping visitors to my home. The restricted access means I can no longer load my car for work. The threats and harassment are escalating.
Today I have contacted the police. If there are any experts in contract law or landlord tenant please comment. I have all payments and job exchanges in text + photo.

2024.05.14 21:03 Sir_Girard Gustavo DeLuca: Pinucci's Pizzeria

"Tony, grab that bag from the trunk," Gus instructed firmly. Tony promptly exited the vehicle to retrieve the bag while Gus fumbled for a cigarette in his shirt pocket, then patted his pockets for a lighter. "Vinny, you got a light?"
Vinny reached behind the seat to ignite Gus' cigarette. "Thanks," Gus murmured, taking a few deep puffs. Tony returned to the driver's seat, presenting a black plastic bag secured at the handles. "Open it," Gus commanded.
Tony untied the bag and peered inside, glancing at Gus through the rear-view mirror.
"Give it to him," Gus ordered. Tony handed the bag to Vinny, who immediately inspected its contents.
"Stash those in your pockets. Expect a call from me around one. If I don't call...," Vinny nodded in acknowledgment.
Vinny exited the car, leaving the black bag in his place on the seat. They waited a few minutes to ensure Vinny got inside safely.
"To Pinucci's?" Tony asked as he began driving to the corner.
Gus took a few more drags of his cigarette before replying, "To Pinucci's."
Tony turned right toward Pinucci's Pizzeria.
"I don't know what the hell happened," Gus muttered, his voice barely audible as he gazed out the window.
"Can I tell you what I heard?" Tony asked, prompting Gus to roll down the window to discard his cigarette butt.
"Doesn't matter. What happened wasn't supposed to happen, but it did," Gus said sternly. "I don't know what's going on. All I know is I got sent for..." Gus suddenly sat up. "Stop!"
Tony slammed on the brakes, startled. Gus leaped out of the car, Tony following closely. Rushing toward an alley in the middle of the block, Gus yelled, "Rossi?!"
Tony grabbed Gus' arm, urging him to calm down. "There's nobody there, Gus." But Gus persisted, convinced of Rossi's presence.
"Come on, Gus," Tony said, guiding him back to the car still idling in the middle of the street.
"I swear he was there this time," Gus whispered, embarrassed.
"It's alright, Gus. Let's handle business," Tony reassured him, opening the rear passenger door for Gus to get in. They continued toward Pinucci's in silence.
Tony parked in front of Pinucci's. "You ready?" he asked.
Gus sighed as Tony exited the car to open the door for him.
As Gus stepped out, he looked up at the glowing red "Pinucci's Pizzeria" sign. "You know," Gus began, "this place used to feel like home." He chuckled to himself. "Now, I see it's just a graveyard."
"Not everybody in the graveyard is dead, Gus," Tony offered, trying to comfort him.
"Yeah," Gus said, meeting Tony's gaze. "Thank you, Tony. For everything. You and Vinny: the best things to ever happen to me." Gus's eyes welled up, but he held back tears.
"If I could go in there with you, Gus..."
"I know," Gus interrupted, smiling and patting Tony on the shoulder.
Under the red glow of the sign, they stood, staring into each other's eyes, both fighting back tears. Gus took a deep breath and extended his hand to Tony. Tony wiped his eyes and shook Gus' hand.
Gus smiled, then turned to walk into Pinucci's. At the door, he paused, "Tony?" His reflection clear on the tinted windows. "Go home. I'll call you later..."
With that, Gus pushed open the door and disappeared into the darkness inside.

2024.05.14 21:02 CampingWorld Guide to Joshua Tree National Park RV Camping

If you ask other RVers which national park is their favorite, someone is bound to mention Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California. It's a camper's paradise with wide open space and panoramic views.
Most evenings, the landscape glows at golden hour, and the sky turns from red hot at sunset to dark blue and star-filled at night. You can enjoy the remoteness of the park but also its proximity to Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley.
Take the time during your visit to enjoy the endless roads of the desert landscape, play on the rock formations, and, of course, marvel at the Joshua Trees.

Why Visit Joshua Tree National Park?

The first reason to visit Joshua Tree National Park is to see its famous and fascinating Joshua Trees. Since the Mojave desert is the only place in the world where they grow naturally, Joshua Tree National Park is the best place to see them.
These trees range between 15-40 feet tall and can live an impressive 150 years. They’re members of the Yucca family and appear as though they're from a different planet, with limbs unpredictably jetting out like they have their own minds.
Another great reason to visit Joshua Tree National Park is the warm weather and abundance of sunshine. It’s no secret that RVers love to snowbird and the Californian desert is a wonderful place to be during the spring and fall months. You’ll enjoy sunny days and clear nights, perfect for dry camping with solar panels.

When to Visit Joshua Tree National Park

Joshua Tree National Park is open year-round, but the best times to visit are during the spring and fall months. Park elevations range from 536 feet to 5,814 feet above sea level, so expect conditions to vary depending on where you go in the park.
Here’s more information on the seasonal weather in Joshua Tree.

Spring

Spring is a very popular time in the park because the temperatures range from the mid-60s in February to the mid-70s in April. Depending on the year, wildflower blooms can be seen in the latter part of spring at the lower elevations within the Pinto Basin.

Summer

Due to extreme desert heat (+100℉ days are the norm), the park is pretty quiet during the summer. Late in the summer, monsoon season hits Joshua Tree, which cools down the daytime temperatures but can also lead to flash flooding in valleys and ravines.

Fall

Monsoon season continues into the fall, but it soon gives way to one of the best times to visit. Temperatures from August into October fall from the upper 90s into the low 80s, and evening temperatures range from the low 70s to the low 50s, on average.

Winter

In the heart of winter, the park's average daily temperature is 60 degrees Fahrenheit, which is perfectly comfortable, but the nights get cold and often drop to freezing. Overnight temperatures in December and January average in the mid-30s.
Check the park’s website for the latest weather alerts and condition updates.

Where to Stay

Joshua Tree National Park is pretty remote and expansive. You'll want to stay a few days. Unlike other national parks, there are no lodges or resorts for overnight accommodations. There are eight developed campgrounds, however, and camping out under the stars at Joshua Tree is an unforgettable experience.
Here are a few important things to be aware of ahead of time if you plan to camp in Joshua Tree.

Reservation versus First-Come, First-Served

Four of the developed campsites require reservations. They’re larger than the first-come, first-served campgrounds, and some offer water and flush toilets. These campgrounds fill up very quickly. We recommend planning well in advance.

Reservation Required Campgrounds

Black Rock and Cottonwood are the most developed campgrounds (water, toilets, sanitation dump) and are the only campgrounds you can stay in if you have a larger rig.
Black Rock has six sites that can accommodate rigs with a total length (tow vehicle included) of 38-40 feet and seven sites up to 42 feet. Cottonwood has around twenty-five campsites that can accommodate rigs slightly longer than 35 feet.
Indian Cove and Jumbo Rocks both have a few spots for RVs up to 35 feet in total length. If you have a rig larger than 35 feet, site availability may be considerably limited.

First-come, First-served Campgrounds

These campgrounds are great options if you have a smaller rig and the good fortune of securing a site. During the popular season, these campgrounds fill every weekend and often during the week, as well.
These are primitive campgrounds, so you will need to bring (and carry out) everything you’ll need during your stay.

Staying Outside the Park

If you’re unable to find a site in the park or you’re looking for a campground with more amenities, here are a few nearby campgrounds:

Tips for Your Camping Stay

How To Get Around

Nestled between I-10 and California SR 62, Joshua Tree is located in Southeastern California and is easy to access. Several towns nearby, including Palm Springs, Indio, and Twentynine Palms, make perfect supply stops before entering the park.
Indio is the last best stop on I-10 if you’re entering the park from the south. The park’s south entrance is located off Exit 168, about 30 minutes east of Indio. The park also offers a west entrance on Quail Springs Road, about 10 minutes southeast of the town of Joshua Tree. And the north entrance is just ten minutes south of Twentynine Palms on Utah Trail.
Several paved roads allow you to traverse the park, but going from site to site can require long drive times. The most frequented sites are located near the northern edge of the park, so if you’re coming from the south along I-10, you’ll be driving through the park for an hour or so before you spot your first Joshua Tree.

Places to Go

There are many places to visit in the park that offer a variety beyond the infamous trees. It’s a unique location that features the intersection of two desert ecosystems.

Cholla Cactus Garden

The Cholla Cactus Garden is its own special area and is unlike any other part of the park. Be sure to enjoy the flat, ¼-mile nature trail to get the best look at the cacti. This patch of cacti is incredible because it mostly consists of Teddybear Cholla, which is the star of the cactus world.
The Cholla Cactus Garden is so impressive, and you’ll love snapping photos of these majestic plants. Their beauty changes throughout the day depending on how the sunlight hits them. A small word of advice, look but don’t touch. Ouch!

Arch Rock

Arch Rock is a very popular rock formation located a half-mile from White Tank Campground. The loop trail is easy to follow and a perfect activity for the whole family. Of course, the Arch Rock itself is the thing people most want to see, but there's lots of space to wander around and explore the other rock formations, too.
It’s also a very popular place for night photography and stargazing. If interested, White Tank Campground is a really convenient place to stay because of its proximity to the trailhead.

Keys View

Keys View is a popular lookout that offers incredible panoramic views of the park and the Coachella Valley. If beautiful scenery is your thing, make sure to visit Keys View. It’s about a 20-minute drive from the main road to the lookout via Keys View Rd.

Ryan Mountain

One of the most popular activities in the park is the hike to Ryan Mountain. This 3-mile round trip trail leads to the summit, where you’ll be treated to sweeping 360-degree views. The hike is listed as challenging by the NPS, so be sure to bring plenty of water and expect changing weather conditions.

Things to Do

The combination of the Mojave Desert and the Colorado Desert makes Joshua Tree a wonderful desert wilderness to explore. Here are some of the most popular activities in the park:

Hiking

Hiking is a great way to get off the road and experience more of the desert landscape. The National Park Service offers plenty of safety tips for hiking in Joshua Tree, and here are some of the park’s most popular trails:
The Park Service DOES NOT recommend attempting challenging hikes in the heat due to the elevated risk of sun exposure and dehydration.

Mountain Biking

The majority of the park’s paved roads are not suitable for road cycling. However, several backcountry roads are perfect for mountain bikes. There are even three campsites within Ryan Campground dedicated to cyclists.
Be aware that bikes are only allowed on roads open to vehicle traffic but that the main park roads do not offer bike lanes or wide shoulders. Consult the park’s website for safety tips and road recommendations before biking in Joshua Tree.

Photography

Photographers love Joshua Tree because of the variety it contains. From sunrise to sunset, photographers can find landscapes, animal inhabitants, and even human visitors to place in frame.
Commercial photography does require a permit, and if you’re interested in expanding your knowledge, the Desert Institute offers field courses in partnership with the Joshua Tree National Park Association.

Stargazing

Stars can be hard to come by in urban areas like San Diego and Los Angeles, but Joshua Tree is a different story. Designated as an International Dark Sky Park, it offers some of the best stargazing in all of Southern California.
After the sun goes down, keep your headlamp in red light mode to preserve your night vision. Your eyes will need less time to adjust when you lie down to see how many shooting stars you can count!

Rock Climbing

Rock climbing, in addition to bouldering and slacklining, is another great activity to enjoy in the park. To date, there are more than 8,000 known climbing routes, over 2,000 bouldering problems, and numerous natural rock gaps that make the perfect spot to set up a slackline.
On a busy weekend, the park may have hundreds of climbers enjoying their slice of this monzogranite mecca. So be sure to follow Leave No Trace Principles and familiarize yourself with the park’s climbing management plan before your visit.

What to Bring and How to Prepare

Brief History of Joshua Tree National Park

Despite its harsh desert environment, humans have inhabited the area that is now Joshua Tree for more than 5,000 years. In the modern era, the biggest threats to this natural environment were land developers and cactus poachers.
In the late 1920s, a Pasadena resident named Minerva Hoyt began voicing her concerns about the unregulated removal of cacti and other desert plants to be used in home gardens throughout Los Angeles.
In a relatively short time, her conservation efforts resulted in the formation of the Joshua Tree National Monument in 1936. The original protected area encompassed roughly 825,000 acres but was reduced by about 265,000 acres in 1950 when the Park Service excluded certain mining parcels in the eastern part of the park.
On Halloween in 1994, the Desert Protection Bill passed and Joshua Tree was elevated to national park status. The bill also added back approximately 234,000 acres of what had been lost in the 50s.
Plan your next trip to the national parks in an RV. Rent an RV, trade-In your RV, or buy a new or used RV and start traveling for less than $5 a day.

2024.05.14 21:01 Pandorasbox2021 Busy or uninterested

I (29f) have been talking to this guy for a couple months. We live pretty far apart, work opposite schedules and he is extremely busy between working full time (12+ hour days) and military training. We have met twice in person in the past month. Both dates have gone very well. We have all the same interests and goals in life and both want a long term relationship. The only problem we have is his lack of free time. We talked about it on the 2nd date. I straight up asked if he had time for a relationship in his life right now. He barely has free time to himself. He says he really likes me and wants to try and work things out and build a relationship to see where things go. He has cancelled dates due to work but always has a back up day. Since our first date he seems much more keen to keep meeting up. Part of me thinks he's not interested, but he's always staying in touch, even when he's away for training. After the last date he texted me to make sure I made it home safely after I didn't text him initially. Since our first date he seems much more keen to keep meeting up. He actually has been initiating plans and texts since that date, which surprised me since he never did much of that before. We wanted to try and make free time this week to meet but he has training so I said I can give him a chance to meet next weekend when I'm off work. The goal is to start meeting once a week, except his training weeks. Should I see if he can make that work?

2024.05.14 20:59 EchoOfNovember AITAH for getting my ex's ex arrested?

My(f35) ex (m37) has two daughters ( lets call them Lily and Mia) with two different women (Cara- Liliy's mom and Maya- Mia's mom). Liliy turned 18 this weekend and Mia is 16.
My ex and I are still friends, we split after 6 years, there was no drama, no fighting no abuse, we had another one of "what is next for us" talks, and he added he thought that my "I don't want kids" stance was just a phase I would have got out "by certain age". He wants more kids. I don't want kids. I have/had a good relationship with both of his daughters. Maya and I had a friendly relationship while I was with him. She asked for my number and asked to meet me before she was okay with me meeting her daughter - Mia. I had no issues with this; in fact, I instantly respected her for it. Cara, on the other hand, was always hostile.
I'm financially well off. Earning significantly more than him, we had a joint account that was mostly funded by me (98% of the funds in it came from me). I was okay with him spending that money on his family and daughters. The only rule I had was that I didn't want it to be used for lavish gifts to his ex. He was okay with this. But during one of the family gatherings, Cara asked if she could borrow some cash from him; he said yes and to take what he had in his wallet. She took a card to our joint account and went on a spending spree. I was pissed. But I was furious when he didn't make her pay it back. She is the mother of his child, and what do I expect him to do, blah blah.
Last summer, while we were still together, I promised Lilily we/ I would take her to Taylor Swit's concert in Paris and a proper shopping trip for her 18th, we extended invitation to Mia as well and her mom agreed. So I bought 4 concert tickets ( for the girls, ex and me) and booked a hotel. Fast forward to winter and we had our split.
Last month, I asked him what he wanted to do. I couldn't transfer my ticket to his new girl (or anyone), but I was willing to give it up and told him to go with the girls. I would even pay for plane tickets. He admitted he had forgotten all about it and that he had already booked all his allowance of annual leave, so he couln't take them. He asked if I would find it awkward to go on the trip with girls instead. As mentioned, I have a good relationship with his girls and have said okay if their moms agree. Mia's mom - Maya, said no problem, but Liliy's mom- Cara, insisted that the only way "I was taking her daughter out of the country was if she was going." I offered not to go and have Cara take them. She wouldn't be able to get into a concert venue, but the hotel was paid for, and I would still pay for plane tickets. But Maya said she wasn't letting Mia anywhere with Cara. Here, in order to make a minor over the border, you need a form signed by both parents. Not wanting to punish girls for something that was out of their control, we agreed I would take the girls and Cara would join us. As I also promised a shopping trip to Liliy, her dad set up a spending limit, and I asked Maya to allow me to buy something for Mia as well so she wouldn't feel excluded; reluctantly, she agreed and also set a limit.
Of to Paris we went, we arrived the day before the concert and were due to go back in the evening on the day after the concert. From the moment we landed Cara complained about everything. When we got to the hotel she demanded separate rooms ( I have originally booked a two-bedroom suite), and thought Mia and I could take one room and Liliy and her another ( she knew this before we left). She proceeded to yell and make a scene until the receptionist said they had another smaller suite available. I ended up taking that one for myself and Mia.
Next day after breakfast we went shopping. Lily said she would prefer one or two higher-quality pieces of clothing rather than brands she could get at home. So we went to Galeries Lafayette. About two hours in I got a call from a client that there was an issue that needed immediate attention. I gave Lily my card, reminded her of the limit her father set, and told Mia that we could go somewhere else afterward if she didn't find anything she liked that would honor the limit her mom set. Both girls said they understood; Cara gave me a side-eye. So I sat at a nearby bench dealing with my client's issue while they shopped. Not sure how much time has passed when Lily came crying, saying her mom made her give her my card and was buying things for herself. I went to a till, and indeed, Cara was paying with my card for things that were clearly for her. She didn't even have the decency to look guilty when she saw me marching towards her; she even smirked. So, in a fit of rage, I said to a cashier that she was paying with a stolen card, my card. Cara tried to insist I gave her the card, but I stood my ground, security was called, I continued to insist she stole it. Eventually, they called the police. Since it was my name on the card and the cashier confirmed Cara was one that used the card, and I continued to insist she stole it they arrested her. We had to go with them to give a statement. Few hours later when we left the station, I sat down the girls and explained we would go back in the morning to get Cara, but that right now she needed to learn there were consequences.
Neither of the girls was in the mood to go back to shopping, so we went to the hotel and got ready for the concert. By the time we reached the concert venue, both girls were in good moods again. In case you are wondering, we had a blast.
The next morning, I returned to the police station and retracted my statement, saying it was a misunderstanding. I gave the card to one of the girls, and she gave it to her mom. Two fines ( both myself and Cara got fined) and a few snide remarks from the officer later Cara was free. She refused to speak with me for the rest of the trip. Fine by me. I don't even mind the fine I got, it was worth it.
Girls and I went for one more round of shopping before it was time to catch the plane.
When we got back, chaos erupted. His family is now divided, some saying I was petty and b**ch for what I did, and other side clapping, saying it was well deserved.
My ex stopped by my work this morning and said that what I did to Cara was bullying. And I was an a**hole for dangling my money in front of her, that I should have left it be, and he would have paid me back if I told him.
I don't think I was. Was I petty, maybe, probably, but I don't think I was A**hole, she literally tried to steal.
