Examples of case studies in psychology

As writing this, the more confident i feel about the situation and feel this might be something i shouldnt worry about, but im a person who gets really nervous thinking that i might have to deal with this incident in the days to come as i dont want to or believe i deserve to face a consequence for this incident as well as the effort it probably will take to repeal anything if something were to happen
*a brief summary: Im worried if a classmate will report me and if i will get in trouble for saying that their score (which they chose to disclose, i didnt ask or force them to show) isnt good (according to them, they thought i said that they score is terrible, probably how they viewed it) because i heard them talking about the incident after class with the teacher
So today in Spanish class, I was talking to another classmate about how they are studying for this one big test we have for a different class and how well are they preforming in the practice for the test, and after we had a conversation about it, another classmate talks about how they did poorly, like a 60% on a multiple choice section for a practice exam and I said that their score on the multiple choice isnt good, but the writing part should carry their grade. A few minutes later, the student who got a 60% on the practice was talking about how I said that "their score is terrible and sucked" (which, in fact i only said that it wasnt good, probably how i said it came off as that). So if you're asking, why do i think im going to get in trouble or why i mention this, its because as i was leaving class, i saw the student stay behind and heard them talking about it to the teacher. Im nervous if they will actually try to report me, and if i will actually get in trouble or not, or what to do? (so far my plan is to wait it out and see what happens, but im worried because its a lot easier in my school to report someone than to repeal something, and even if anything gets repealed i heard some stuff will still reamin on your record and could affect your college acceptance if they see)
CONTEXT/RANT HERE: my Spanish teacher doesnt really like me, she somewhat liked me as a student last year, but this year she is mad that i sometimes talk during class (i dont talk when shes giving instructions, i talk while i work sometimes or after i finish the work), like today i got somewhat in trouble how she said that i couldnt get a retake on the next quiz like the other students(not too bad of a punishment) because i talked in class a lot (to be fair, we were playing bingo in class, and i was talking in that period of time where the teacher waits for you to fill up board, and also, its not like i dont pay attention in class, like today for example, my teacher gives points for every time you raise your hand to answer a question she gives, and she gives a grade for how many points u get as long as u have a certain amount, and i was trying to participate to get a good grade as i was raising my hand literally for every question she asked but she like she doesnt call on me, or when im the only one raising their hand she waits like 10 seconds to call someone else.
If you read all of that, tell me how you think the situation will go (i would much apricate this as it would lower my anxiety over this issue)

So, English is not my first language even though I had studied it for years now, so, any grammatical error, please be excused. I also want to point out a few things up, this story is LONG, as it says on the title, we’ve been together for almost a decade, so there’s a lot of things to patch up, also, I’m not trying to paint him as the bad guy nor myself as the good guy, just trying to let it all out because there’s some details I cannot say to everyone I know, so it’s better for me to just talk about it with internet strangers, also, I don’t know if this place has a limit of characters, so if it has, it’s going to be some parts long.
So, to start this, I (27 F), broke things with my bf (26 M) Alan (Not his real name) after we’ve been together for little less than a decade because I was just so fed up with everything we lived together, not having the strength to even try and give this another go as he wanted us to. A year before meeting him on my last school year I was s*xually Ass*ulted by a man that I met on a park where I used to go dancing, not only that, but he made me believe that I was okay with what happened (I was sixteen and he was 21, here the age of consent is not until the 18th mark), he made me believed that I liked it, and made me believe that no one would ever believe me if I ever decided to report it, so I didn’t, but obviously it got me a pretty bad scar.
I met Alan one year later, his friend group was friends with my friend group, so in school we kinda merged together and he was a good guy, a great guy even, he always had something nice to say about me and he never blamed me for being scared of a group of people so anytime I wanted to buy something on the school market, he did it for me until he tried to make me come across my fear and was just behind me as I was approaching the big group gather on the market trying to make me feel confident enough to buy things by myself, after that we became closer and closer until one day I went with my friend group to recess with his friend group, but he wasn’t there, I asked one of his friends and he told me that he wasn’t feeling right and was still on the classroom, so off I went and looked up for him, we talked for a while and then he thank me for listening to him and not bug him with the “guys don’t cry”, that made us even more close to eachother and we started something, not a relationship, but a situationship from mid July to late November, when I graduated from school (He had one more year to go), on my celebration date, he asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes, I made him meet my family shortly after and I met his.
He was a part-time gamer, and the first straw was that he believed that I would made him choose between his games or me, but no, I didn’t, even so, I asked him to teach me how to play so we could play together, I was not good, at all, but I was just glad to be on his hobbies, little did I know that would be one of the reasons I broke things off. We had fights and arguments because he was a competitive type of guy on this online games and, because I was bad at them, we usually lost games because of me, it took us a lot of work to find a solution, he had to put down some bars, because it was not healthy, also the first “or else” that he made me aware of, was when I told him that I needed him to express his emotions to me, but he took it as “Show emotions or I’m leaving you” which wasn’t the case, but worked up just fine.
Some years passed and… You remember what I told you about the year before meeting Alan? Well, we couldn’t get intimate in that way and I had to sit him and explained what happened, he was supportive and we didn’t do it after our four year mark, but again, he wasn’t as supportive as I recall, he usually push over it and only stopped moments before I got a flashback of what happened. But that one time that we did it, I remember it well, I started crying out of emotion because I finally overcame my fear, but after we finished, he stood up, we cleaned ourselves and he made me get ready because he didn’t want to be late to a friend’s birthday. Speaking of intimacy, he had a really big drive and I didn’t, but every time I tried to say “no”, he got all frustrated so I started initiating moments after I saw him like that so I could brush that feeling off of him, our intimacy was like that until just months before our breakup.
Now into another thing, I have always work, even when I was still at school, I’ve always worked to get my things, I’m not good at saving money, but I work my butt off, so when he started to gain interest on a particular expensive game, we usually used his mother credit card and the one paying it was me, he said that when he worked he bought things for us, but… This is the thing about it… He only worked 5-6 months in all of our relationship, sure, he went with his father some times to do some work, but he didn’t even saw that money because it went directly to a gaming console for himself, so in years that we’ve been together, he worked 5-6 months and the rest was payed from myself and he still took his time working as a sort of argument against me.
Now, one time, when I was on the university, a random classmate just suddenly kissed me and I was in shock, so in shock that I didn’t kissed him back, nor could I stop him, but when he went for a second one, I backed out and I went to my boyfriend crying because I thought I was cheating on him because someone kissed me and I explained every detail to him, but the guy dropped off from college, so I never saw him again and then, another day, I was in the subway and encounter my ex boyfriend while he was, actually, coming back home after his own studies, I ignored him for the most part, but he actually asked politely to let him talk to me, so we went to a public park and he actually just wanted to say sorry because he cheated on me with his ex girlfriend while he was with me, we didn’t do anything besides me listening to him and giving him the closure he was searching for, we did not stay in contact, I just said to him that it was not something that I keep on mind to this day, but if it made him feel better, I would accept his apology and then we parted ways, everything I did and said I made my boyfriend aware of and he was such in a panic that one of his friends actually went to his house and they talked shit about me because I dared to let my ex ask for my forgiveness. Those are the only two time that I recall I made him feel insecure, two times and that’s it and he wasn’t letting any of those things go any time we got into an argument.
I remember one time we actually parted ways for some days and I kissed a girl, a girl that I have liked for a very long time and only then I figured that she actually liked me back, but I was stupid enough to not go for her, and wait for this guy for us to get back together and I actually told him everything, I know I shouldn’t do it, because it would only made him feel like on the edge, but by that time I felt like it was better to come clean about everything, he knew everything about me, it was only fair that I keep it like that. But then he got jealous everything I said I was talking to her in a friendly way (he never was banned from looking into my phone) and now I understand that his jealousy was not that unfounded, because I kissed this girl while we were separated.
There was numerous times when I wanted to break things with him, but he always managed to made me come back to him, one time we were walking on the sidewalk and I told him how I felt and that I was thinking about breaking up, he got on the ground, took a piece of glass and tried to h*rm himself, but I stopped him and we never talked about it again. Another time I was home, not at work because I was injured and we had a phone fight, not breaking up, but making it subtle, then a couple hours after that I received another phone call from an Unknown number, telling me that he almost threw himself on the subway and, Injured as I was, I went to get him and Uber us to his home.
I had to make two limits for him, I didn’t want him to call me before checking if it was possible for me to talk on the phone, unless it was an emergency, of course. And that I didn’t want him to go to my home unannounced, because he did it too much and he did not respect those boundaries until there was yet another conversation about breaking up and just then, he stopped doing it. He also lied to me one time when he went to the bus stop at freaking 7 am with the excuse of “I just wanted to get some air” and the proceeded to talk to me all the way about his problems and follow me to my workplace, and then he had the audacity to get mad when I told him I couldn’t stay longer because I had to get to work, just when we finally broke off he came clean that he was, obviously, trying to get a hold of me and not “Trying to get some air” as he tried to make me believe. I even started to go to my destinations by other means because I was afraid I would encounter him in every corner that I usually go to.
One of my college friends started a relationship with one of his friends and now that we broke things off, neither of them talk to me, so I am not sure what sort of fairytale he told them in which, he obviously was not in the wrong at all.
I am not asking if I was the AH here, nor asking if I should talk to him again, I am pretty confident That I shouldn’t, I just wanted to vent, thanks for anyone who would read this loooooong story. Cheers.

When a patient begins analyst, I'd imagine at a certain point the analysand might be desensitized long enough thru therapy or analysis where interpretations don't have linkage or generate much validation for the analyst. Is that a fear for analysts? The dimensions of transference for how the patient reacts, are oft laced with Affects. I was confirmed this in a previous post where a member made their demand/desire known "The patient will feel something when probed." I imagine capturing that feels intentional, meaningful and fun for the analyst.
Is part of the Psychoanalysts compensation affects then? Is part of the analysand's obligation to provide them with it?
It seems like if they're not connected in a very visceral or 'effected' way they're failing their analyst and not 'doing analysis properly.' For example, if an Analyst says to a patient in a case "The reason you pursue this type of woman or career is because of lust for your mother or hatred of your father." or "This action symbolizes incestual instincts you have unresolved as mommy's little helper, thus your alcoholism/racism/neuroticism and symptoms", the patient is obligated to be especially affected and pose a 'Proper' response, no? If they pause and then reply "Oh that's probably true." or "Yeah I guess so. Anyway..", move on quickly and there's nothing more to say on the topic, the analysis considers them resistant or difficult. No intimacy or Affect in the processing of it.
Are they a sociopath? Just trying to foil the analysis? Showing their hatred by not giving the 'Oomph' or compliments (love/hate, tears or relief)? Is it a form of cowardice not to show affects? Perversion perhaps? What's going wrong in the analysis that the patient accepts all interpretation but is not Affected by it.
Any thoughts on the matter?

Please keep in mind that I have the opposite of infinite funds. I also wondering what to ask a solicitor, or what they can do exactly as otherwise I'm going in blind. I've lost all faith in my council to do anything for me.
To give a brief history, In 2019, a family moved in above me and they are very noisy. They make noise until 4-5am in the morning. My flat is a bedsit and the noise proofing in this building is terrible so the noise they make comes through the floor very loudly (IE: it sounds like living inside of a drum). This disturbs my sleep and the situation is frankly making me suicidal at points. I have been fighting with the housing association and the council to try and do something about the problem, but they basically refuse to do anything and have washed their hands of the issue.
The council's Environmental protection team did install a microphone to record the noise. I didn’t receive a proper report back, just an email stating that the only noise observed was from my bedsit, with examples. I asked for a copy of the recorded noises. When I received them I could hear the noises I had recorded and challenged the team on this. To cut a very long story short they said while there was some noise but there wasn't enough noise to count as a statutory nuisance. My housing officer refuses to acknowledge the 2nd statement from the team and continually states that no noises were found.
In the end I’ve been told to take private action against the residents, but I have been unable to do this due to my mental health issues and other disabilities and lack of a lawyer.
I have been through the complaints procedures regarding this, but in both the 1st and 2nd stage complaints they have basically ignored everything. I have taken these results to the ombudsman.
I opened another ASB case with my housing officer and have access to an ASB app. I uploaded many recordings of the noise I experienced, but I was told that it cannot be substantiated that the noise is coming from the family above me, or that there wasn’t sufficient evidence. When I asked for clarification none was given. This lasted 6 months and my housing officer closed my case claiming I admitted to making the noise. Quite frankly I’m at my wit’s end with all of this.
Is there anything I can do to get them to actually take some action to fix the problem? (IE: either moving me, fixing the sound proofing in the building somehow or getting the family to be more quiet at night)

So this is something I have thought for a while, and began building a hypothesis for it roughly three years ago. To summarize for those not interested in the details I believe the reasoning the tree of knowledge, and its counter parts within other religions were off limits to humans other than it is knowledge unwanted/unneeded; is that it was a trinity. The three parts that would make this up are religion,philosophy, and science. To clarify and specify I will give differing examples as to why I came to this conclusion.
The first thing that made me think of this was the interchangeable aspects, as well as the balancing of these three. Religious beliefs are what filled the ancient times, and allowed for the first steps of science to flourish. A good example is Egyptian building techniques they had were given to them by the God thoth. Due to its sacred attachments it was able to survive as a form of study scientist use to this day. Now turning towards the interconnectedness of philosophy with religion an example can be; in one of the earliest religious sites is dedicated to that of skulls and the nature of death. The religion itself doesn't have much knowledge other than the age old testament of why we die, but its still a profound question we ask ourselves to this day. You can take this same method of interconnectedness in reversal with the other two forms of knowledge being compared to the others. Now the contrasting factors are just as interesting. Such as the inability for a comprehensive understanding of miracles through the scientific lense. There are examples of this "mockery," being there as a core part of our being in all three forms of study as well. With that we will start with the examples within science.
We must first discuss the beginning of our existence as science describes, in an instantaneous expansion/expulsion of energy we gained space, time, and matter as a result. Now in order for any researcher to make a proper conclusion and or factual statement they must be able apply these three elements to their work. They must use a means of recording the information aka time. They must provide a place in which this experiment occured aka space finally; they must use the effects of physical objects, actions, and or numerical data to provide evidence. There are also examples of its interconnectedness to the other two despite oppositional standings. One such example is that; rituals such as bloodletting, ripping of hearts out, mummification, and potion making allowed for the transcendence of medicine, anatomy, and many more medical practices. Another example, but for philosophy is; when we used philosophy as a means to question the commonly believed scientific practices of multiple eras including the present. This allows/ed for the progression of ethics within the medical field, as well as create fields such as psychology. In essence science is the raw form of "mind," within our trinity; the physical representation of what can not be deciphered by the other two methods.
The next of the three we will delve into is that of philosophy. Philosophy has its connections within the other two methods of knowledge in a multitude if not the most ways out of the three. The following examples are just a few that I have chosen. One great example not yet discussed is; science, and its impact upon the understanding of the cosmos has made the philosophical question of "are we alone," and "what's my significance within it all." Another example but that of religious connectivity is the rise and fall of religions themselves. The best example is the change of pantheism into monotheism, the idea that; if there is a being of higher status, power, wisdom, intelligence etc. than others of its kind are the others truly within the same class or even the same kind of being. Philosophy in itself has trinities within their study as the other two do. One example is the Greek philosopher Pythagoras believed that the number 3 was the most significant number as it was that of perfection and represented harmony wisdom and understanding. In its representations philosophy can be Interpreted as the embodiment of " heart, " within the trinity; as it is what bridges the two methods with greatest disparity, and makes one think insightful as well as outwardly speak beyond the confines of scientific, and spiritual traditions.
The third representation of this " mocked ," trinity we have carved into the very code of our being is religion. Despite the contradictions religious, and scientific consensus there is over arching connections that can not be denied. One such example of their intertwining relationship is that of cosmic and mathematical studies. As mentioned before the Egyptians believed they gained their ability to use math from the God thoth, bit the belief isn't sufficient evidence for their true connection through math, and astrology. The mapping of celestial bodies were due to their relations with yhe divine such as their place of origin, the heavens, or even the physical embodiment of the gods themselves such of the planetary system and its connection with the Roman pantheon. Religion is also responsible for humanities and consequently sciences grasp of time and the recording of it. A great example is that ancient people would base their rituals around the natural rhythm of differing seasons, spacial phenomeno, and that of recording important cultural events. The impact of religion onto science is deep just as the other way around but their bridging partner philosophy; has very intimate connections as well. Though tons of examples are present for the twos intertwined relations a few examples are; that along of philosophers would use their religious beliefs to help shape, and nurture their philosophical ideals. It was also religion that began our want and urge to began asking ourselves what our origins are, what is our purpose as a species etc. Religion and its position within this " mockery ," could be best described as the soul of our markings. Though it is the most criticized part of knowledge for its lack of " evidence ," just like that of souls themselves. It still holds reverence and importance as without it we as humanity would've never asked ourselves those first important questions of internal insight as well as; did those physical rituals allowing for the progression into the many sciences' we have today.Throughout this I have quoted, and maintained this finding as a " mockery ," and there are many contradictions within the studies of the three themselves; this I will explain the reasoning behind in the following paragraph.
The term mockery as I use it; is the expression not of negative means such as we intend to offend anything such as a creator or ourselves as a species. In this sense the term is applied due to the very contradictions and disparities between the three. The three following tend to have arguments and disagreements within the studies; typically this discrepancy is the action cause by the want for truth. There are also fundamental contradictions as well such as; the process in which one conducts their actions in life, and the way in which one may perceive or be influenced within their daily ongoings. However; at the core without each of these three being accessible to humanity there would've been no virtual, or actual progression within our species. The reasoning it is a mockery rather than a true trinity is through the very definition of opposition the three have. A true trinity would be that of perfect balance however; due to all the differing factors said prior and the elements not seamlessly falling into one another there is an imbalance one that can sway what a humans progression through life may be.
In conclusion it's this authors opinion that we have a trinity one that is a mere mockery of what the truth we all are ferociously debating amongst ourselves is. until we are able to come to that one universal consensus we will be plagued with this mark of knowledge and its endless sea of questions.

A lot of people have been talking about the perfect family harmony (Not anymore. I made this months ago and never posted it. I’m only posting it now.) and here is my take on it. How I see it is that it’s, in the most simplest of forms, vibing. They were all vibing with each other and on the same page at that point. It doesn’t say you’re a perfect family or whatnot but it says you’re in agreement and you’re vibing and in synch at the time. That’s why they were able to hit it. I also think it doesn’t have to be birth family but who you choose as family.
One song isn’t gonna erase years and years of tears and trauma. They were just all feeling the vibe and in synch at the time. It also has to be something you want with everything you have. They wanted to hit the perfect family harmony to save Floyd with everything they had. Also, their magic played the biggest roll in it. To me, trolls are magical.
That magic is their essence and it can be stolen. It also acts as a sort of happy / talent drug to other species hence why the burgens ate them to be happy and V and V used Floyd for his talent. Now, their magic does a lot for the trolls. It’s what allows them to use their hair, to reproduce, and to have tribe specific abilities (I headcanon each tribe has things only members of that tribe can do).
Their magic can also feel the magic of other trolls and sense sincerity before the troll themselves can. That’s why fake relationships can’t work in terms of reproduction. You can’t have a trolling with someone who you don’t love because your magic will not react with theirs to form an egg, or, in this case, hit the perfect family harmony. That’s why they were able to hit it. It was because they were genuine and sincere. They were sincere and their feelings were genuine when it came to their want to be better, be a family, and save Floyd.
Now, all trolls have magic but not all trolls can tap into it. Every troll has a surface level of magic that is in use at all times. Those tribe specific attributes I mentioned and using your hair. That’s surface level magic at work and most trolls should be able to use that magic. Some of those attributes include the ability to speak to animals for Pop trolls or enhanced strength for Country trolls. Now, I say most because some are born with hair defects or an inability to use those tribe specific attributes.
An example of a troll that can tap into their magic and use an ability that isn’t surface level magic is Synth. His water powers are caused by his magic. He accidentally tapped into it and was able to use it in the form of water munipation. It’s completely accidental when a troll does it and it can’t be forced. The trolls that are strong enough to tap into most of, if not all, their magic are the monarchs like Poppy or Trollex or Delta. Being a monarch and your kingdom being a monarchy are two different things. (I can explain how I view monarch in a different post.)
BroZone’s vibes and magic were in synch. Their magic could sense that the brothers wanted to do better and that they genuinely wanted to be a family. It could sense that they wanted to save Floyd as well. The same thing with Viva and Poppy. Thus, their magic came together, creating the perfect family harmony. A lot needs to be put into the actual act of it and that’s why it’s never been done before. The circumstances, feelings, vibes, amount of magic needed, and everything just added up perfectly during the final battle between V and V and the trolls. They all wanted Floyd back to be a family.
Also, Viva and Poppy’s much stronger monarch magic definitely did help. It takes a lot of strong magic to be able to hit the perfect family harmony and most of that magic came from Poppy and Viva. But the bros would have totally hit it without them. Their magic was running wild because of the whole it being sucked out by V and V thus it helped them tap into a lot more magic than they normally could. Their magic calmed down after they healed from the bottle situation.
That’s how I see it.

I have been a vegetarian for 3 years and have removed meat, fish and shellfish from my diet. The reasons are partly linked to the environment and partly to animal abuse.
For "consistency" I also removed bivalves such as mussels, clams and so on. However, I read that mussels, for example, do not have a nervous system and do not perceive pain. Furthermore, being "natural filters" there are advantages in consuming these animals compared to those commonly found in livestock or fishing. And the consumption linked to their production is more similar to that of plant products than animal ones.
So I was wondering why vegetarians don't/should eat molluscs of this type. Or better yet, what could be some reasons for not eating them?
My logic is always that of "it's not up to me to decide when an animal should die or whether it should spend its life just to feed me". However, in the case of animals such as mussels, I don't know whether this logic can continue to apply or not. I would like your honest opinion and please avoid talk related to hypocrisy and everything: there is no black or white and making some sustainable choices and others not is always better than making none

Every year I’m confronted with the decision of whether to talk about the Met Gala. And it can be a tough decision if I’m being totally honest - on one hand, it’s always easy to point and laugh at rich Leftists wearing weird costumes and making fools out of themselves; on the other hand, it’s gotten way too easy to do that, and as far as celebrity freak shows go, the Met Gala is sort of like the Oscars at this point: its supposed “unpredictability” is now cliche, its zaniness is now boring. Unless mayhem breaks out—say, like an actor slaps the presenter live on-stage or something like that—then the truth is that no one really cares about any of these events anymore - in fact, I’m still not even sure what the Met Gala is. All I know is that the celebrities dress strangely and then go into I guess a big museum. What do they do inside the museum? Is there some kind of award ceremony? Is it a dance? Is it like celebrity prom or something? Do they sacrifice a live goat and drink its blood while chanting satanic curses? Is it some combination of these things? Nobody knows for sure. And most of all, nobody cares.
But fortunately, something interesting did happen at the Met Gala last week, or at least outside of it. Mobs of pro-Palestine demonstrators, apparently bored of their tent cities on college campuses, slowly marched through Manhattan towards the Met, and when they arrived, they tore down the police barricades and flooded the street.
Just for fun, here’s Lizzo dressed like something that you might find inside an unflushed toilet at Panda Express, and that’s what she wore to the Met Gala while riots raged outside in a clash of poor commies versus rich commies, as Peachy Keenan put it. These riots should also bring to mind I think some immediate logistical considerations that the Democratic Party now has to think about - for one thing, it’s safe to say that planning for the Democratic National Convention is going through some last-minute revisions right about now. Just imagine being in charge of security for the DNC; you’re gonna need bigger barricades than they had at the Met, and probably a lot more cops.
But more barricades and cops aren’t gonna fix the underlying problem that the Democratic Party has created here. There’s now a full-on uprising on the Left against the elitism that Democrats have long embraced - and the media is getting involved, too. Yahoo, for example, has already turned on the Met Gala; they just published a piece declaring, “The Met Gala’s Opulence Is Always Gross. This Year, It’s Obscene.”
Now, the whole article is a rant that hits a crescendo with this paragraph, which is probably the single-longest run-on sentence I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Here it is, this whole thing is one sentence, just so you know:

Even in an era filled with the horrors of late-stage capitalism run amok—bipartisan support for genocide; rolling back of reproductive, civil, and voting rights; a threadbare social safety net; decades of wage stagnation; tax cuts for the the rich; the crushing of unions and labor rights; expansion of the militarized police surveillance state; creeping techno-authoritarianism; untested, unregulated, and unchecked A.I.; entrenched racial inequality and injustice; right-wing and white supremacist extremist violence; and Boeing jet parts falling from the sky like so many dead whistleblowers—that kind of frivolous urgency promises that this year’s event nonetheless will stand out as a vainglorious display of self-congratulatory decadence and tone-deaf extravagance.

Now, first of all, just as a stylistic matter, if you’re going to make a sentence that long, it needs to be coherent. And “Boeing jet parts are falling from the sky like so many dead whistleblowers?” That doesn’t even make sense; the dead whistleblowers didn’t fall from the sky. I mean, they’re not being pushed out planes. One of them shot himself allegedly and the other died of an illness. Now, even if you subscribe to the theory that Boeing’s hitmen killed these whistleblowers—which, who knows, maybe they did—the fact remains that they didn’t fall from the sky. They died on the ground, so the metaphor just doesn’t work. And this is the problem you get into with 100-word sentences: eventually, you just lose track of what you’re saying.
In any event, that whole massive paragraph could be summed up as saying, “We’re living through late-stage capitalism right now.” That’s what the Left-wing media is saying. That’s the way that they are framing this, and of course, “late-stage capitalism” is one of their favorite phrases to use these days. And they used to celebrate the Met Gala, but not anymore. Now they’re saying the same thing the demonstrators are, which is that the frivolous elite are partying while Rome burns—which they are, of course—and they’re furious about it, or pretending to be.
Now, what the media and these demonstrators don’t want to admit is that the elitists at this gala—all the celebrities who are dressed like slutty Star Wars villains and so on—are on their team. The celebrities are part of the ruling class, the protesters and media critics are its products and in some cases quite literally its offspring. Now, to be sure, the celebrities and college administrators and the politicians are reluctant to acknowledge that their own Frankenstein monster is turning against them, but that’s exactly what’s happening.
Remember that it was two years ago that AOC showed up to the Met Gala with a “Tax the Rich” gown. There were a bunch of sympathetic news stories highlighting her bravery at the time, and here’s how AOC justified showing up to an event that costs $300,000 per table while equipped with a custom dress, handbag, shoes and jewelry costing more than $2,000.

REPORTER: “You know this dress has a message for this Met Gala, tell me about what that is.”
AOC: “You know, I made a message, it says ’Tax the Rich’ right there, uh, it’s really about having a real conversation about fairness and equity in our system, and I think that this conversation is particularly relevant as we debate over budget and reconciliation down. What we’re talking about, providing working families with child care, healthcare, and meeting the climate crisis [unintelligible]* it deserves. … I think that ultimately, you know, we’re at a very critical point. I think there are some folks who are starting to really understand that this is a very critical conversation for us to be having right now. Other folks have invested interest in not having that conversation, but our point is to keep organizing and keep it going.”*

It’s a really important conversation, AOC says, some people aren’t ready to hear it, but we need to punish rich people, we need to make them as uncomfortable as possible, we need to take their money, and that was the message from AOC, who not incidentally, grew up in a very well-off suburb.
Her whole schtick was always hypocritical and disingenuous, of course, but it turns out that Leftist activists were listening to this rhetoric, I guess, they were taking it seriously, we’ve seen this a lot lately. When Chuck Schumer threatened Supreme Court justices, Leftists showed up at the justices’ homes; when the White House claimed that “trans kids” were being abused, a Leftist shot and killed Christians; when Democrats accused Israel of “genocide,” college students occupied university buildings; now two years after AOC attacked the Met, leftist gathered outside of the building.
This is the escalation that Democrats have primed this country for; it’s now in progress, whether Democrats intended it to happen to THEM or not—which, of course, they didn’t—but that’s not to say that ruling elites are going to roll over and let this happen. I mean, as you saw in that footage, the cops showed up in force and started making arrests the very second that protestors trespassed through the barricades in front of the Met. They were on the scene immediately.
Now, that’s kind of a noticeable contrast when compare it to other things like when these people set up encampments on college campuses, they were given in most cases a few days, maybe a week, before the cops moved in; when they looted and burned poor neighborhoods, they were given about three months to inflict carnage before anyone did anything about it; but when they showed up at the Met Gala, they were given three SECONDS before the arrests started. So it really shows you kind of how the hierarchy works.
The Democrats can’t protect the rest of the country from these mobs, nor do they intend to. So last night, in addition to creating a scene at the Met Gala, Leftists also vandalized a World War I memorial in New York and torched an American flag in front of it.
So please note, again, the contrast, the hierarchy, and the fact that this was happening at the exact same time as the Met Gala thing - REALLY shows you where the priorities are when you notice what kinds of illegal demonstrations the police will stop and which demonstrations they’ll allow to continue. The mob can deface World War I memorials all they want because in doing so, they’re communicating their hatred for this country and everything it stands for. So the Democrats who run New York aren’t going to stop them. But the mob isn’t allowed to inconvenience celebrities at the Met under any circumstances.
The point is that this is the hierarchy that Democrats clearly want to enforce. The trouble is getting the mob to RESPECT the hierarchy, and the Democrats are having trouble with that at the moment.
Yet they still seem oblivious, the Democrats are—or acting oblivious, at least—to the fact that they created this monster themselves, and that’s why inside the Met, as chaos unfolded outside, the party continued uninterrupted, and so did all of this associated weirdness, which was as off-putting as it’s ever been - take for example this decoy costume worn by someone using the name “Karol G.” Now, apparently she wanted to keep her real costume a secret, so earlier in the evening, she sported this beige umbrella-looking lampshade thing instead.
Now, imagine being a hardcore, AOC-loving Leftist who sees this - Democrats have spent the last several years telling you to despise rich people and commit crimes in the name of political activism, and then down the street from your hippy commune at the local university, some celebrity is walking around in a lampshade costume which probably costs $50,000 or something, and the entire Democratic Party establishment is pretending that it’s all normal. What do you do? How would you view the Democratic Party establishment after seeing this?
Now, as for the costume itself, of course, it’s clearly a bid for attention, and I guess it worked—I’m talking about it—but it’s not even an original idea - as a lot of people have pointed out, the outfit bears a striking resemblance to a certain shower curtain costume from the film “Karate Kid,” only with different colors, so there’s really no redeeming qualities whatsoever here, it’s a total debacle all around.
But to be fair, there was at least some originality on display last night - for example, this celebrity apparently walked through a wind tunnel full of roses somewhere before arriving at the Met, and for her trouble, Vogue named her as one of the best-dressed women of the evening.
We can assume again that this… woman?… paid many thousands of dollars for that outfit, which is just a trench coat with flower peddles and glitter glued onto it. It really looks like something a four-year-old girl might make. As everybody knows, in the mind of a four-year-old girl, anything and everything can be made prettier with copious amounts of glitter and flowers, which is a fine mentality for a small child; doesn’t translate very well in this case. And as self-congratulatory as it is, again, there’s no self-awareness whatsoever - it’s almost as if the entire purpose of the event is to celebrate the elites’ total inability to detect how preposterous, self-absorbed, and laughable they are.
An this is nothing new, it’s been the case since the Met Gala was established, it’s always been a mini-theater of the absurd. What’s changed is that the voting base of the Democratic Party isn’t laughing along with these clowns as much anymore. They turned against the universities; now they’ve turned against Hollywood. What the protesters of course don’t understand is that they have inherited their own worldview and everything they believe from these very institutions and these very people.
Hollywood and Academia don’t realize that they’re being attacked by their own Frankenstein, but the Frankenstein monster also doesn’t realize that it IS the Frankenstein monster. And if Frankenstein ever wakes up to that fact, well then the ruling class will really be in trouble.

I'm searching around for another rules-medium (or rules heavy) RPG to try, but, I'm a bit lost. Ideally, the RPG should have the following traits.

• Tactical. I like positioning my characters to get the most enemies clogged in an AoE.
  
• Narrative. There should be dedicated subsystems to conflicts that aren't combat.
  
• Simulationist. To a degree. Some problems encountered in an RP come from logistics, so things like carry capacity and transport speed are nice.
  
• Customizable Characters. Multi-classing with easy homebrewing or point buy are nice.
  
• A Compendium of Pre-built Stuff. Useful to see if I've built stuff properly before I get my engineering brain out.
  

Things I've played before are...:

• DnD 5e. Very first game I played when I got introduced to TTRPGs. While it is easy to tell what the designers intended, it's also easy for players to throw balance out the window quickly. Which is kind of sad because I like some of the homebrew out there.
  
• Godbound. I loved the process of picking out Words, Gifts, and Facts, but the way the game plays (especially in combat) felt... off? That's the best way I can put it. Lexicon of the Throne didn't provide as much guidance as hoped for making DIY Words.
  
• Mutands and Masterminds 3e. Fantastic for power building! Enemies can be prepared on the back of a napkin. It's much easier to eyeball how difficult a fight is. It also has support for the narrative stuff as nicely as the simulationist stuff with the Complication system.
  At the same time, I've... encountered problems with players ignoring how important Complications are or self-declaring that their Complications give themselves Victory Points? It didn't feel right, but, the game's balance also depends on deliberately bringing those to the forefront.
  I do like the idea of gating certain powers behind Victory Points expenditure with Flaws, though. Just the refresh rate can be a pain to figure out.
  

Things on my shelf that I've tinkered with, but haven't played are...

• HERO 6e. I've built a character in this, but haven't played it yet. Does someone have play experience w/Hero to compare with the games I've played? I do remember reading that HERO 6e takes a different approach to their Drawbacks (point discounts that largely stay in the background). Does have a big library of prebuilt stuff.
  
• Wild Talents. I've also built powers in this, but haven't played it yet. It's significantly more gritty, but, it is fun to build powers in there. I remember making a body plan where all the brain boxes were in different places. But I'm a bit confused at how to scale things at the cosmic level (which I'm sure needs more than 10d or several Boosters).
  
• Fabula Ultima. Narrative tools seem a lot more focused than with Mutants and Masterminds 3e. I also like the villain system too since that makes it easier to protect conflict stirrers without as much handwavium. Doesn't have as much simulationist components, but, maybe that can be handled by another system's mechanics.
  

Things I haven't tinkered with, but like collecting for reference are...

• PtbA Games. These are a very good case study for how to emulate a specific genre (or a specific kind of story within that genre). It's a bit hard to plug in characters for a more sandboxy environment, though. I think Calypso (a solo PtbA hack) and City of Mist (and sister games) meet the import whatever requirements.
  
• FATE Games. I like how there's setting books to collect. I like Fudge Dice as a tool since it makes it easy to bell curve positive to negative modifiers. But I don't quite grok Fate Compels?
  
• xWN Books. Stars Without Number, Worlds Without Number, etc. I like the free extensive GM tools they provide.
  
• Cypher. I haven't opened the one setting book I got for Cypher in a while. But I noticed I was doing much of the same math Cypher would do when running other d20 games on my own (including some solo friendly games I play currently). Dynamically calculate the DC, then check how many d20's passed the check. Maybe I should give this system a try?

I want to preface this by saying I love my boyfriend so much and we are generally a very healthy couple. We've lived together for a year, dated for 3, are talking about when we're going to get engaged and married, he does sweet things for me constantly, my friends and family love him, etc.
The one thing that we cannot get past is our travel schedules, more specifically MY travel schedule. We both work in different parts of an industry that requires us to travel a lot. The summer is wayyy more travel-heavy than other months, and we know that going into the summer means we'll be spending a good chunk of time apart.
Regardless, he gets upset every time I have to travel for work. He asks me "are you really needed?" and begs me to change my flights so that I am waking up at the crack of dawn or taking red eyes, all so we can have more hours together. He always says he just wants to spend as much time with me as possible during the summer months, which I really do understand and appreciate, but it also appears that he believes I'm choosing my work over him. He puts me in a really awful position with my boss where I have to either face the wrath of my boyfriend if I say yes to another work opportunity OR I have to miss out on something that could further my career if I give in and stay home with my boyfriend. The industry I work in is extremely heavy on networking, so the more face time I get at certain events, the better.
He has struggled with insecurity and it doesn't help that I'm in an extremely male-dominated industry. My boss and everyone I work with are incredibly kind and respectful, they all love my boyfriend and mention him all the time/invite him to any company parties, but my boyfriend still believes that something bad is going to happen while I'm away. I've been around some shitty men in my industry, which I tell him further proves the fact that the people I work with are great because I know firsthand how it feels to work for someone who isn't great. I don't know how else to put his mind at ease.
He works in a different side of the industry where his job is literally to travel, and the more traveling he does the more he gets paid. In my case, my travel is more-so to be present at certain events with my direct supervisor to make sure things are running smoothly, as I am the person who is setting up the events for months prior to them happening. In his mind, this means I'm "not needed" because my supervisor can cover it. This makes me feel like he doesn't respect my career (which, might I just brag on myself for once, I am VERY much a standout in my field) and doesn't respect the fact that I am going to be taking over my supervisor's job at some point soon which is why I am requested at these events. Also, I never have once gotten upset with him when he has to travel more than I was expecting. I tell him I understand it's part of the job, and that's what I signed up for when we started dating years back.
I have told him all of this, and sometimes things change for a week or so but then it all comes back up. He is aware that how he's acting isn't fair, but then sometimes will pin it back on me saying I don't sacrifice enough for the relationship like he does (for example, he came to a work trip abroad with me and paid for his plane tickets since we thought it'd be fun to be abroad together and I could pay for our meals and hotel on the company). I say that I never ever EXPECT a sacrifice like the one he did, and that I do make other small sacrifices like saying no to events during the week when I know I'm going to be out of town that weekend so we can have more time together - I just don't generally tell him when these things happen because I don't want to gloat like "LOOK I MADE A SACRIFICE FOR YOU AGAIN!" so in his brain I don't make as many sacrifices as he does.
All in all, I also reassure him that we have our WHOLE LIVES to spend time with each other, and we live together! It feels like he has this scarcity mentality that if I don't get on the earliest flight home one weekend then we will never see each other ever again!
Like I said, when we talk it through (weekly at this point), it sometimes leads to him being more understanding, but sometimes not. Does anyone have any advice on what else he/I/we can do here? I've suggested couple's counseling but he doesn't think it's worth it. I've been balancing this little dance between him and work travel for a few years now, but it really does weigh on me and makes me feel like I'm being pulled in so many different directions and is just such an extra stressor on me. My job is fast-paced and stressful enough, having him nagging in the background about how upset he is that I'm traveling again just really puts me over the edge. Any advice is appreciated.

I am currently averaging 70.5% on my MSc Clinical psychology course and I am extremely happy about this (as someone who's never averaged over 63!). Anyway, my problem is that I'm confident in the coursework but when it comes to writing dissertations I'm not so good. I got 66 on my undergraduate and I'm really hoping to finish with a distinction this year. My research project is worth half of my overall grade so it matters a lot that I get above 70 in my diss.
Please can you give me any tips you've come across?

Hi. I have thousands of files in a folder that I need to move across multiple subfolders and I can't seem to find a solution for my specific case.
The files are all named randomly with no rhyme or reason. However, there are "breaks" in between every list if arranged by "Date Modified" (This is extremely important to keep the files in order when renaming them in sequence using Bulk Rename Utility). Example:

Catch(2).jpg etc. the end of the list ends without a break. just another randomly named .jpg 

As you can see, the breaks I mentioned are the files that start with the word "Catch". I need to move every file starting with and including the word "Catch" until it reaches the next file containing the word "Catch" then it stops and repeats the process.
The subfolders it'll move the files to will simply be numbered 1,2,3,4..etc. based on the order. Thus, the first file in every subfolder will start with the word "Catch". I'd appreciate any help and if you need any clarification, please let me know.

F2 on Anaesthetics. I like it a lot. Really fascinated by the physiology and pharmacology and the science behind anaesthesia. But I also tend to panic in acute situations where you have only seconds and I am not the best at procedures but can improve with practice. I have seen quite a few nerve blocks and spinals and they look very daunting to perform especially spinals as there was one case where the consultant was really struggling with and I was panicking internally that if I choose anaesthetics I will be panicking like this internally but good at hiding it. Improving on airway skills and cannulas but not perfect. Still haven’t got the hang of it fully as for example recently the surgeon berated me for not taking the initiative to position the patient in the lithotomy position (I was relying on the anaesthetist as I am still so scared of everything and doing something that causes harm although I have been taking initiative in things that I have taken note of such as seeing patients before the lists, drawing up drugs and IV access and asking the anaesthetist if they want to give more ephedrine or metaraminol or increase O2 etc based on what I see on the monitor) so there is a lot more that goes on in anaesthetics which I am expected to absorb and people don’t explicitly tell me because to them these seem very obvious and I may or may not pick up on these little things because I am such a novice. Is this a sign anaesthetics is not for me or is it too early to say as I have only been on anaesthetics for a month and the steep learning curve is making me feel a certain way? Could I be feeling panicky just because I haven’t been exposed to such stuff enough?
Have also done a radiology taster which I really liked and fit with my personality more (I get a lot of satisfaction from puzzle solving and diagnosis which I think I will miss on anaesthetics) although I am more fascinated with physiology and pharmacology than anatomy

Before coming on to anaesthesics I was sure I wanted to do a medical/physicianly specialty but being on anaesthetics is really eye opening as the culture is so nice and everyone loves to teach which is the opposite of medicine (medical consultants all look miserable at my place and always grumpy and hate being called for advice and don’t like to teach) so anaesthetics is definitely above medicine for me but now also confused with radiology (very lovely people too and not as scary as they sound on the phone!) and pathology as they also look like specialties I will be happy in and the consultants and trainees seem really happy too

Weird question, but I have no better way to express it. It's said that Magneto is the lord of magnetism; his mutant power is to manipulate magnetic fields. But the extension and uses of this power go beyond simple abuse. The best and most stupid example is the fact he is kind of "invulnerable" to firearms using his magnetic field to protect himself by deflecting bullets. Only that lead is not magnetic at all, his powers should useless against it!!!
Talk about flying, how can he defy gravity with magnetism? "The iron on his body is subject to magnetism, so he simply manipulates it, kind of repelling it from the ground!" Yeah, only that a person has in total about 4 grams of iron scattered on the whole body. Hard to think so insignificant particles could hold an adult hovering above ground, let alone make him fly freely.
He could manipulate body of metals like cars (maybe forging some kind of shield or armor for protection) , destroy infrastructure like buildings (given the iron on its foundations/walls), create EMPs and cause havoc with electronics/vehicles in a given radius, and even isntakill any enemy by manipulating those 4 grams of iron on the enemy's body into a needle to the heart/brain. But aside from that, all the other uses for his so called magnetic power does not seem magnetic at all.
I get that (almost) every mutant has a unique signature power and sometimes these powers are stretched way beyond logic. But in Magnetos case his feats seem more telekinesis than magnetism per se.
