Property & Land

2024.05.13 23:23 Hurlebatte Property & Land

(FOR WIKI VERSION CLICK HERE: https://whig.miraheze.org/wiki/Property_%26_Land)
Views on property by whigs varied, but one strain of thought put forth something like the follow. First, we should respect other people's (some might say creatures') autonomy and equal status as ends onto themselves, and we should try to not lessen or hurt each other. Second, if someone adds to themself without lessening another, they probably have not wronged anyone. Third, because of the first and second points, it follows that we can mix our labor with natural resources and have a property claim to the result, so long as we have not lessened, hurt, or restricted another in the process, by, for example, taking more than a fair share of land and thereby depriving others of a home or means to feed themselves.
Contrary to this thinking, there is a common thread running a thousand years through history. It starts with the Norman Invasion which imposed feudalism on the English people in the 11th century, it then runs to 12th century complaints about Normans hogging up land, it then runs to the Peasants' Revolt of the 14th century, then to the enclosure of the commons and depopulation of some villages to make way for wool production in the 16th century, then to English republicans denouncing this theft of the people's land in the 17th century, then to land reform efforts by whigs in the 18th and 19th centuries (including during the Anti-Rent War of New York), then to the housing crisis of the 21st century.
This is the common thread: the general public has suffered an unnecessary and unjust burden ever since a small class of people declared that the earth belonged to them alone, and imposed themselves on the villages, towns, and cities of England (later on the settlements in the colonies), by supposed right of the king, by supposed right of heaven. This insane system has largely survived until today by disguising itself as part of republicanism, but it is a remnant of feudalism. It is presented as the ideology of private land rights, when it is only the feudal theory of private land rights, and is in opposition to the classical republican theory which holds that land is a natural thing like the air, not the creation of humans, and that we all have an equal right to the land, to shelter ourselves in homes, to feed ourselves with produce, and to come together in a republican manner to decide the particulars of this equitable arrangement, like by imposing land value tax on those granted the privilege of holding more or better land than average.
QUOTES
"The same law of nature, that does by this means give us property, does also bound that property too. . . As much as any one can make use of to any advantage of life before it spoils, so much he may by his labour fix a property in: whatever is beyond this, is more than his share, and belongs to others. . . But the chief matter of property being now not the fruits of the earth, and the beasts that subsist on it, but the earth itself; as that which takes in and carries with it all the rest; I think it is plain, that property in that too is acquired as the former. As much land as a man tills, plants, improves, cultivates, and can use the product of, so much is his property. . . Nor was this appropriation of any parcel of land, by improving it, any prejudice to any other man, since there was still enough, and as good left; and more than the yet unprovided could use. So that, in effect, there was never the less left for others because of his enclosure for himself: for he that leaves as much as another can make use of, does as good as take nothing at all. No body could think himself injured by the drinking of another man, though he took a good draught, who had a whole river of the same water left him to quench his thirst: and the case of land and water, where there is enough of both, is perfectly the same."
—John Locke (Two Treatises of Government, book 2 chapter 5)
". . . a right to property is founded in our natural wants, in the means with which we are endowed to satisfy these wants, and the right to what we acquire by those means without violating the similar rights of other sensible beings; that no one has a right to obstruct another, exercising his faculties innocently for the relief of sensibilities made a part of his nature. . ."
—Thomas Jefferson (a letter to Pierre Samuel Du Pont de Nemours, 1816)
"Another means of silently lessening the inequality of property is to exempt all from taxation below a certain point, & to tax the higher portions of property in geometrical progression as they rise. Whenever there is in any country, uncultivated lands and unemployed poor, it is clear that the laws of property have been so far extended as to violate natural right. The earth is given as a common stock for man to labour & live on. If, for the encouragement of industry we allow it to be appropriated, we must take care that other employment be furnished to those excluded from the appropriation. If we do not the fundamental right to labour the earth returns to the unemployed. It is too soon yet in our country to say that every man who can not find employment but who can find uncultivated land, shall be at liberty to cultivate it, paying a moderate rent. But it is not too soon to provide by every possible means that as few as possible shall be without a little portion of land. The small landholders are the most precious part of a state."
—Thomas Jefferson (a letter to James Madison, 1785)
"It has been pretended by some (and in England especially) that inventors have a natural and exclusive right to their inventions; & not merely for their own lives, but inheritable to their heirs. but while it is a moot question whether the origin of any kind of property is derived from nature at all, it would be singular to admit a natural, and even an hereditary right to inventions. it is agreed by those who have seriously considered the subject, that no individual has, of natural right, a separate property in an acre of land, for instance. by an universal law indeed, whatever, whether fixed or moveable, belongs to all men equally and in common, is the property, for the moment, of him who occupies it; but when he relinquishes the occupation the property goes with it. stable ownership is the gift of social law, and is given late in the progress of society. it would be curious then if an idea, the fugitive fermentation of an individual brain, could, of natural right, be claimed in exclusive and stable property. if nature has made any one thing less susceptible, than all others, of exclusive property, it is the action of the thinking power called an Idea; which an individual may exclusively possess as long as he keeps it to himself; but the moment it is divulged, it forces itself into the possession of every one, and the reciever cannot dispossess himself of it. it’s peculiar character too is that no one possesses the less, because every other possesses the whole of it. he who recieves an idea from me, recieves instruction himself, without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, recieves light without darkening me. that ideas should freely spread from one to another over the globe, for the moral and mutual instruction of man, and improvement of his condition, seems to have been peculiarly and benvolently designed by nature, when she made them, like fire, expansible over all space, without lessening their density in any point; and like the air in which we breathe, move, and have our physical being, incapable of confinement, or exclusive appropriation. inventions then cannot in nature be a subject of property. society may give an exclusive right to the profits arising from them as an encouragement to men to pursue ideas which may produce utility. but this may, or may not be done, according to the will and convenience of the society, without claim or complaint from any body."
—Thomas Jefferson (a letter to Isaac McPherson, 1813)
"Establish the principle also in the new law to be passed for protecting copyrights & new inventions, by securing the exclusive right for 19 [years]."
—Thomas Jefferson (a letter to James Madison, 1789)
"Consequently there is as yet no such thing as a street except adjacent to the lots actually sold or divided; the erection of a house in any part of the ground cannot as yet be a nuisance in law. Mr. Carrol is tenant in common of the soil, with the public, and the erection of a house by a tenant in common on the common property is no nuisance. Mr. Carrol has acted imprudently, intemperately, foolishly; but he has not acted illegally. There must be an establishment of the streets before his house can become a nuisance in the eye of the law. Therefore till that establishment neither Majr. Lenfant, nor the Commissioners would have had a right to demolish his house without his consent."
—Thomas Jefferson (Enclosure: Observations on L'Enfant's Letter, 1791)
"It is a position not to be controverted that the earth, in its natural, uncultivated state was, and ever would have continued to be, the common property of the human race. In that state every man would have been born to property. He would have been a joint life proprietor with rest in the property of the soil, and in all its natural productions, vegetable and animal. But the earth in its natural state, as before said, is capable of supporting but a small number of inhabitants compared with what it is capable of doing in a cultivated state. And as it is impossible to separate the improvement made by cultivation from the earth itself, upon which that improvement is made, the idea of landed property arose from that parable connection; but it is nevertheless true, that it is the value of the improvement, only, and not the earth itself, that is individual property. Every proprietor, therefore, of cultivated lands, owes to the community a ground-rent (for I know of no better term to express the idea) for the land which he holds. . . There could be no such thing as landed property originally. Man did not make the earth, and, though he had a natural right to occupy it, he had no right to locate as his property in perpetuity any part of it; neither did the Creator of the earth open a land-office, from whence the first title-deeds should issue. Whence then, arose the idea of landed property? I answer as before, that when cultivation began the idea of landed property began with it, from the impossibility of separating the improvement made by cultivation from the earth itself, upon which that improvement was made. The value of the improvement so far exceeded the value of the natural earth, at that time, as to absorb it; till, in the end, the common right of all became confounded into the cultivated right of the individual. But there are, nevertheless, distinct species of rights, and will continue to be, so long as the earth endures. It is only by tracing things to their origin that we can gain rightful ideas of them, and it is by gaining such ideas that we, discover the boundary that divides right from wrong, and teaches every man to know his own. . . While, therefore, I advocate the right, and interest myself in the hard case of all those who have been thrown out of their natural inheritance by the introduction of the system of landed property, I equally defend the right of the possessor to the part which is his. Cultivation is at least one of the greatest natural improvements ever made by human invention. It has given to created earth a tenfold value. But the landed monopoly that began with it has produced the greatest evil. It has dispossessed more than half the inhabitants of every nation of their natural inheritance, without providing for them, as ought to have been done, an indemnification for that loss, and has thereby created a species of poverty and wretchedness that did not exist before. . . It is not charity but a right, not bounty but justice, that I am pleading for. The present state of civilization is as odious as it is unjust. It is absolutely the opposite of what it should be, and it is necessary that a revolution should be made in it. . . It is the practice of what has unjustly obtained the name of civilization. . . to make some provision for persons becoming poor and wretched only at the time they become so. Would it not, even as a matter of economy, be far better to adopt means to prevent their becoming poor?. . ."
—Thomas Paine (Agrarian Justice)
"I care not how affluent some may be, provided that none be miserable in consequence of it."
—Thomas Paine (Agrarian Justice)
"Separate an individual from society, and give him an island or a continent to possess, and he cannot acquire personal property. He cannot be rich. So inseparably are the means connected with the end, in all cases, that where the former do not exist the latter cannot be obtained. All accumulation, therefore, of personal property, beyond what a man's own hands produce, is derived to him by living in society; and he owes on every principle of justice, of gratitude, and of civilization, a part of that accumulation back again to society from whence the whole came."
—Thomas Paine (Agrarian Justice)
"The law which prohibited people's having two inheritances was extremely well adapted for a democracy. It derived its origin from the equal distribution of lands and portions made to each citizen. The law would not permit a single man to possess more than a single portion. . . It is not sufficient in a well regulated democracy that the divisions of land be equal; they ought also to be small, as was customary among the Romans. 'God forbid, said Curius to his soldiers, that a citizen should look upon that as a small piece of land, which is sufficient to support a man.'"
—Charles Montesquieu (The Spirit of Laws, book 5)
"The first man who, having enclosed a piece of ground, bethought himself of saying This is mine, and found people simple enough to believe him, was the real founder of civil society. From how many crimes, wars, and murders, from how many horrors and misfortunes might not any one have saved mankind, by pulling up the stakes, or filling up the ditch, and crying to his fellows: Beware of listening to this impostor; you are undone if you once forget that the fruits of the earth belong to us all, and the earth itself to nobody."
—Jean-Jacques Rousseau (Discourse on the Origin and Basis of Inequality Among Men, part 2)
"In general, to establish the right of the first occupier over a plot of ground, the following conditions are necessary: first, the land must not yet be inhabited; secondly, a man must occupy only the amount he needs for his subsistence; and, in the third place, possession must be taken, not by an empty ceremony, but by labour and cultivation, the only sign of proprietorship that should be respected by others, in default of a legal title."
—Jean-Jacques Rousseau (The Social Contract, book 1 section 9)
"In granting the right of first occupancy to necessity and labour, are we not really stretching it as far as it can go? Is it possible to leave such a right unlimited? Is it to be enough to set foot on a plot of common ground, in order to be able to call yourself at once the master of it? Is it to be enough that a man has the strength to expel others for a moment, in order to establish his right to prevent them from ever returning? How can a man or a people seize an immense territory and keep it from the rest of the world except by a punishable usurpation, since all others are being robbed, by such an act, of the place of habitation and the means of subsistence which nature gave them in common? When Nunez Balboa, standing on the sea-shore, took possession of the South Seas and the whole of South America in the name of the crown of Castile, was that enough to dispossess all their actual inhabitants, and to shut out from them all the princes of the world? On such a showing, these ceremonies are idly multiplied, and the Catholic King need only take possession all at once, from his apartment, of the whole universe, merely making a subsequent reservation about what was already in the possession of other princes."
—Jean-Jacques Rousseau (The Social Contract, book 1 section 9)
"The like may be said in relation to my house, land, or estate; I may do what I please with them, if I bring no damage upon others. But I must not set fire to my house, by which my neighbour’s house may be burnt. I may not erect forts upon my own lands, or deliver them to a foreign enemy, who may by that means infest my country. I may not cut the banks of the sea, or those of a river, lest my neighbour’s ground be overflown, because the society into which I am incorporated, would by such means receive prejudice. My land is not simply my own, but upon condition that I shall not thereby bring damage upon the publick, by which I am protected in the peaceable enjoyment and innocent use of what I possess."
—Algernon Sidney (Discourses Concerning Government, chapter 3 section 41)
"The like continued amongst Jacob’s sons; no jurisdiction was given to one above the rest: an equal division of land was made amongst them: Their judges and magistrates were of several tribes and families, without any other preference of one before another, than what did arise from the advantages God had given to any particular person. This I take to be a proof of the utmost extent and certainty, that the equality amongst mankind was then perfect. . ."
—Algernon Sidney (Discourses Concerning Government, chapter 1 section 12)
"Men can hardly at once foresee all that may happen in many ages, and the changes that accompany them ought to be provided for. Rome in its foundation was subject to these defects, and the inconveniences arising from them were by degrees discover’d and remedi’d. They did not think of regulating usury, till they saw the mischiefs proceeding from the cruelty of usurers; or setting limits to the proportion of land that one man might enjoy, till the avarice of a few had so far succeeded, that their riches were grown formidable, and many by the poverty to which they were reduced became useless to the city."
—Algernon Sidney (Discourses Concerning Government, chapter 2 section 13)
"That the too long continued shame of this Nation, viz. permission of any to suffer such poverty as to beg their bread, may be forthwith effectually remedied; and to that purpose, that the poor be enabled to chuse their Trustees to discover all Stocks, Houses, Lands, &c. which of right belong to them and their use, that they may speedily receive the benefit thereof, and that some good improvement may be made of waste Grounds for their use. . ."
—John Lilburne (An Impeachment of High Treason against Oliver Cromwel)
"As soon as the land of any country has all become private property, the landlords, like all other men, love to reap where they never sowed, and demand a rent even for its natural produce."
—Adam Smith (The Wealth of Nations, book 1 chapter 6)
"The thirteenth ORDER. . . every man who is at present possest, or shall hereafter be possest of an estate in land exceeding the revenue of two thousand pounds a year, and having more than one son, shall leave his lands either equally divided among them, in case the lands amount to above 2000 l. a year to each; or so near equally in case they com under, that the greater part or portion of the same remaining to the eldest, excede not the value of two thousand pounds revenue. And no man, not in present possession of lands above the value of two thousand pounds by the year, shall receive, enjoy (except by lawful inheritance) acquire, or purchase to himself lands within the said territorys, amounting, with those already in his possession, above the said revenue."
—James Harrington (Oceana)
"All Property indeed, except the Savage’s temporary Cabin, his Bow, his Matchcoat, and other little Acquisitions absolutely necessary for his Subsistence, seems to me to be the Creature of public Convention. Hence the Public has the Right of Regulating Descents & all other Conveyances of Property, and even of limiting the Quantity & the Uses of it. All the Property that is necessary to a Man for the Conservation of the Individual & the Propagation of the Species, is his natural Right which none can justly deprive him of: But all Property superfluous to such purposes is the Property of the Publick, who by their Laws have created it, and who may therefore by other Laws dispose of it, whenever the Welfare of the Publick shall demand such Disposition. He that does not like civil Society on these Terms, let him retire & live among Savages.— He can have no right to the Benefits of Society who will not pay his Club towards the Support of it."
—Benjamin Franklin (a letter to Robert Morris, 1783)
"I think it could never be, that the best of the Proprietaries located uncultivated Lands should be taxed no higher than the worst of those of the People; that being so manifestly unjust. Nor that a Medium Rate should be fix’d on for all that kind of Lands, as this would be too high for some, and too low for others. Nor that the common Rate should be taken from the worst kind; for this would lay the Burthen chiefly on that kind, which is unjust and oppressive to the poorer People."
—Benjamin Franklin (a letter to Richard Jackson, 1764)
"It gives me Pain my Lord! to observe that the prevailing monopoly of Lands in this Colony has become a Grievance to the lower Class of People in it; and confines the Bounty of our gracious Sovereign to mercenary Land-Jobbers, and Gentlemen who have already shared very largely in the royal Munificence."
—John Jay (a letter to the Earl of Dartmouth, 1773)
"That the right of the Poor, in their Commons, may be preserved, and freed from the Usurpations, Enclosures, and Encroachments of all manner of Projectors, Undertakers, &c. and that all servile Tenures of Lands, as by Copy-holds, or the like, be abolished and holden for naught."
—Leveller tract (The Fundamental Lawes and Liberties of England claimed, asserted, and agreed unto, by severall Peaceable Persons of the City of London, Westminster, Southwark, Hamblets, and Places adjacent; commonly called Levellers.)
"The right to property being inviolable and sacred, no one ought to be deprived of it, except in cases of evident public necessity, legally ascertained, and on condition of a previous just indemnity."
—National Assembly of France (Declaration of the Rights of Man and of Citizens)

2024.05.12 23:02 JAWALAWA_ Characters I’ve been working on, not writing any stories, just characters I’ve come up with that I like

  1. Tyler Billum
Physical Description:
A fat white man, shoulder length brown hair, no facial hair. Always wears a black hat similar to a fedora or the hat Dutch van der Linde wears. And he also always wears a jacket, a black, thin, loose jacket.
Personality:
A humorous, and appearing to be trustworthy leader. Sometimes rude, but looks to be all bark no bite. An overall friendly man who people can rely on. Or so they think. Behind closed doors, he is a monster. Horrible actions, mostly murder. But think of what he does secretly like how Shane tried to kill Rick and Otis in The Walking Dead, he does his actions with reasons, but it is still terrible. And he ensures he will never be caught. Deep down he is a good person, he wants to do good. But at the same time, he is a cheat. And he thinks if nobody knows, it didn’t happen.
Sentence I think describes him: “People do bad things when they are trying to survive.”
Don’t know any characters similar to him, if you know any, let me know what they are from and who they are.
  1. Kenny Barghest
Physical Description:
Still deciding on this, but I think I’d want him to look similar to Baldur from God of War, but bigger and his hair is black and head is buzzed, he just has his beard. He commonly wears all black, along with a beanie.
Personality:
A viper. A dangerous man. He is heard and unheard of at the same time, he is a ghost. He’s got an insane lack of empathy. He will do anything to get what he wants, ANYTHING. Theft, murder, whatever you can think of. If it helps reach the end goal, he will do it no hesitation. His drive is greed, what he wants is money. But if anyone crosses him or disrespects him, he will demolish them. He is a beast. He does hitman work from time to time, but not often. In the end, it is him what matters to him. Nothing else.
One scene I think would relate to him is the scene from dead city, where negan is explaining to Maggie that he is not the bad guy, and explains that there are no bad guys, or good guys. People are people. That’s something he believes in, there is no good or bad. What happens is what happens.
Similar to: Micah Bell, Judge Holden, Anton Chigurh
Let me know anything you would change, I’m not professional writer, I’ve just been cooking these up for the past week.

2024.05.12 10:47 KostisPat257 With the first Teaser for "Agatha" speculated to release at next week's Disney Upfront, here's everything we know about the series

Rumours and speculation wants the first teaser trailer for Agatha to be released at Disney Upfront in 3 days where Disney will showcase new promotional footage for the rest of the 2024 theatrical and Disney+ slate.
This is the continuation of a series of posts I'm doing to prepare people for upcoming releases by listing everything that we know about them. Check the previous posts out if you missed them (Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts), Daredevil: Born Again.
As always, all leaks are taken from the Source Accuracy Database, and only reliable sources are chosen to make these compilations.

Official Information

9-Episode (~40-minute each) Series Releasing This Fall

Synopsis

Agatha Harkness finally breaks out of the spell Wanda Maximoff had trapped her in and is ready to go back to her murderous ways, only to realise she is powerless. The only way forward is for her to embark on a journey to get her powers back with the help of an unlikely friend or two.

RETURNING FROM WANDAVISION:
NEW CHARACTERS:

Leaked Information

While the show underwent several subtitle changes from "House of Harkness" to "Coven of Chaos" to "Darkhold Diaries" , Disney revealed a couple of months ago that the show was simply titled "Agatha" all along (wink wink) and all these subtitles (including the subtitle "Agnes of Westview" previously teased by Joe Locke and Aubrey Plaza on Instagram) were actually episode titles all along, and this was just a marketing tactic to keep the series relevant.
According to leaks, this seems to be the final episode order:
The first episode of the series features Agatha still trapped under Wanda's spell and living in Westview as Agnes. We briefly see all the recurring WandaVision cast returning including Debra Jo Rupp as Sharon Davis/Mrs. Hart, Emma Caulfild as Sarah ProctoDottie Jones, David Lengel as Harold ProctoPhil Jones, Ali Asif as Abilash Tandon/Norm, David Payton as John Collins/Herb, Amos Glick as Dennis the mailman and Brian Brightman as Sheriff Miller.
While these are all confirmed to be part of the cast, we also know through leaks that Evan Peters will also return for a short role as Ralph Bohner. And no, his role is not getting retconned.
So, back to the first episode, we follow "Detective Agnes" trying to solve a murder in Westview, with the help of Aubrey Plaza's character who appears as a mysterious FBI Agent. At first, the victim is a Jane Doe, but as we get closer to the end of the episode, we realise the dead body is actually that of Wanda Maximoff. While Elizabeth Olsen doesn't physically appear in the series and the victim's face is always covered with a morgue blanket while on screen, we do see a toe tag on the body reading W. Maximoff.
Of course, none of this is real. There has been no murder in Westview and Agatha is not a detective. It's all just a fake reality/scenario that is playing in Agatha's head, but we learn that the "FBI Agent" is in fact real and throughout the whole episode, she has been trying to nudge Agatha and help her break out of the "Agnes" spell that Wanda put her on.
Once Agatha does break free of the spell and returns to her real self, she wakes up in her home in front of Plaza's character who we learn tis actually Rio Vidal, aka the Green Witch, aka Agatha's ex-wife (Agatha is bi), an original MCU character.
Through flashbacks, we learn that Agatha and Rio were married back in the 1600s, before Agatha had got her hands on the Darkhold, and they even had a son, Nicholas Scratch. But, once Agatha found the book of the damned and became obsessed with it, she slowly started losing herself to it and getting corrupted by its evil power, resulting in her sacrificing young Nicholas, her own son, to Mephisto (Mephisto is referenced by name, but does NOT show up)
Once Rio found out about this, she and Agatha broke up and Rio has been trying to get revenge on Agatha ever since. It was shortly after this, that Agatha's mom and her coven of witches put Agatha on trial for her use of black magic, but Agatha killed them all and travelled the world, stealing other witches' powers.
As we can understand of course, Rio will be a villain in the series, who appears crazy and obsessive at first, but is justifiably very hurt and angry and feels great contempt and hatred for Agatha, so it's unclear why she was helping her break out of Wanda's spell in the beginning.
The Green Witch (a title equivalent to the Scarlet Witch) is supposed to be one of the oldest and most powerful witches in the MCU, even more powerful than the Scarlet Witch. She uses the powers of Earth and nature and we'll actually see more "witches of color" in the series with special abilities, but Rio is not the only villain in the series.
There are 7 other witches seeking revenge from Agatha, and those are the daughters of the 7 witches from Agatha's mom's coven who Agatha sucked the life out of during her trial.
The coven of the daughters is called the "Salem Seven" and they are led by Okwi Okpokwasili's Vertigo. Each member of the Salem Seven can transform into animals. Vertigo can turn into a Cicada, Bethany Curry's character into a Crow, Athena Perample's character into a Fox, Marina Mazepa's character into a Snake, Britta Grant's character into a Rat, Chau Naumova's character into a Coyote and Alicia Vela-Bailey's character into an Owl.
Back to Agatha now, once she is freed from Wanda's spell, she realises that she has no powers anymore, and thus she needs to get them back.
So, her plan is to visit the Witches' Road, a magical pocket dimension, which can only be entered if you're part of a witch coven composed of at least 6 members and only if said coven sings a special song called "The Ballad of the Witches' Road" (which contains the lyrics "Down, down, down the road - down the Witches' Road"). Only the Scarlet Witch and the Green Witch can enter the dimension on their own.
This dimension has immense magical power and can grant travellers their wishes, so Agatha plans to wish to get her powers back. Thus, Agatha decides to go out and recruit her own coven in order to venture into the Witches Road.
Episode 2 is all about the coven recruitment, hence the episode's title, "Coven of Chaos".
Joining Agatha's coven are
Thankfully for Billy, his wondering soul happened to "witness" a fatal car crash were 13-year-old William Kaplan lost his life. William was not from Westview, but from Eastview, and he just happend to be near Westview when the Hex fell. Billy's soul, in an instinctive attempt to survive, and utilizing Billy's magical abilities, managed to enter William's body just as his soul was exiting, and took over his body, bringing it back to life.
Billy suffers from a small amnesia as a result, as his memories and William's memories basically become intertwined and weaved together. Now, 3 years later (Fall 2026 in the MCU timeline, aka around the same time as SI and The Marvels), Billy/William is 16, living happily with his supportive parents, Jeff and Rebecca Kaplan (played by Paul Adelstein and Maria Dizzia) and having a loving and caring relationship with his boyfriend, Eddie, played by Miles Guiterrez-Riley.
All 3 of them only appear in 2 episodes and have limited screen-time, but it's emphasised how supportive and loving they are, because Billy does not care enough about Wanda to leave his new family behind and save his real mom, even after she learns the truth about his lineage.
However, when the coven reaches the Witches' Road, Billy plans to use his wish to bring his brother, Tommy, back to life, since Tommy cannot possess another body due to his lack of magical powers. Tommy doesn't appear in the series, but it is teased at the end that he is out there somewhere and Billy and Agatha set out to find him (the 2 protagonists end up developing a mentomentee relationship), reportedly setting up a Wiccan show which was in development last year at Marvel Studios. It's unclear if the show is still happening or if this plot of Billy and Agatha finding Tommy has been integrated in VisionQuest and/or Young Avengers.
Billy is described as a teenager with a dark sense of a humour and a fanboy at times. He carries a pocket spell-book with him at all times. He is the most important and necessary part of the coven since he is a "compass" that will lead them to the Witches' Road.
However, it's not Agatha who seeks out Billy, but Billy who seeks out her. The official statement the government gave about the Hex incident was that it was an Avengers training exercise, but some Redditors don't buy this cover-up, some of whom are Westview citizens who experienced the Hex and want to get the truth out. When Billy reads these Reddit theories, it nudges his memory about who he really is and he goes after Agatha to find out more about his identity.
He sneaks into her house in the first episode, when Agnes has just broken free of her spell and he witnesses Agatha and Rio fighting, hiding in Agatha's room's closet.
When Billy first meets Agatha and eventually asks her whether his mother is alive, Agatha doesn't give a definite answer, and when Billy confronts her for a straight answer, she says "If you want a straight answer, ask a straight witch".
Later in the series, we learn that Wanda is indeed alive and is trapped at the end of the Witches Road, setting up a Children's Crusade storyline for the upcoming Young Avengers project.
Billy also does get his blue energy crown at the end of the show (similar to Wanda's energy crown), but not his classic blue suit.
For anyone worried about representation, the show will touch both Billy's (or William's to be exact) Jewish heritage and will explore both Agatha's and Billy's sexuality.
"Agatha" has been described as NOT a super-hero show, but a dark, supernatural, horror, adventure comedy.
While the majority of the show will take place in the Witches' Road, we will also revisit Wundagore Mountain.
Finally, talking about the Witches' Road, Marvel filmed a Witches Road Special Presentation concurrently with the show, written by the showrunner Jac Schaeffer and directed by Gandja Monteiro, that would have been released on Halloween, right after Agatha. The special contains a completely different coven of witches and it is a prequel set thousands of years in the past, showing the origins of the Witches Road dimension.
Now, the special has been integrated in the series, as one of the episodes (likely episode 3 considering its title).
What do you guys think about the series? I am personally very excited to dive into the Witchy side of the MCU, revisit Westview, get to know Agatha and Billy better and see the set-ups for Children's Crusade and the return of Wanda. The story also sounds intriguing with Agatha's past coming back to haunt her.

2024.05.11 16:51 cjfreel Way-Way-Too-Early 2025 Watchlist Pt. 3 & 4: Top Pass Catchers in College Football

This is the final installment of the W-W-T-E 2025 Watchlist. Last year I used Conference Previews as an excuse to look over the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, and ACC Conferences and the talent within (RIP Pac), and will likely do something similar this year in a few months. Right now though, this is the last major post I’ll be making about futures for a while.
The audio show below is the same as the last two installments, but if you have not listened to the episode of Fantasy For Real I would encourage you to do so as there are some interesting tidbits and discussions there that don’t make it into these write-ups.
https://cjfreel.substack.com/p/22-2025-way-way-too-early-rookie -- FULL 2025 Show (ALL POSITIONS)
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ruV4xwEqzcb1mFxxdSbQth0y353OunXNVRKpAKc8b4U/edit?usp=sharing -- 2025 Spreadsheet (ALL POSITIONS)
Just like the last two pieces, the spreadsheet above is meant to help anyone who is unfamiliar with the prospects follow along. It includes Age, Height, and Weight listed by the player’s attending university.
//
WRs
The Big 4 (or 2+2?)
Luther Burden, Missouri
Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona
Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State
Evan Stewart, Oregon via Texas A&M
While it was only a quick piece highlighting the biggest names, when I did my first pass of 2025 towards the end of the 2023 CFB Season, Luther Burden was the player I deemed most likely to be a first round pick and the early “King of the Class.” Burden does play primarily from the slot and doesn’t necessarily have ideal size, but he certainly is big enough for the modern game. While there are many who have challenged for the crown in one way or another, I still have Burden as the top dog for 2025 right now. That said, because of his size alone, perhaps the biggest challenger to that throne in Tetairoa McMillan should be seen as a bit safer. McMillan has not played in the SEC like Burden, but he has led all Freshman (2022) and all Sophomores (2023) in Receiving yards the last two years. McMillan is listed at 6’ 5” and profiles as a catch radius monster.
Emeka Egbuka is my highest rated returning WR, and it is hard to know how much the injury played into Egbuka’s decision to return. While Egbuka will not blow you away with physical tools or traits, he does have incredible savvy as a route technician. In fact, he would be my favorite blend of size and route running ability in this 2024 class outside of the Big 3. He’s not very big, but when compared to a player like Ladd McConkey, maybe McConkey is a bit more crisp, but I would prefer the body size and type of Egbuka to pair with those skills. On the opposite side, size is one of the bigger issues with Evan Stewart alongside his inability to stay healthy. Stewart is listed at only 170 lbs and while he does show incredible separation abilities that translate at the next level, you’d like to see him piece it all together for a season first.
Next Best Candidates?
Isaiah Bond, Texas via Alabama
Travis Hunter (WDB), Colorado
Elic Ayomanor, Stanford
Antonio Williams, Clemson
Barion Brown, Kentucky
Over the last two years, only three WRs have received a 5-Star Transfer Grade (24/7): Adonai Mitchell, Evan Stewart, and Isaiah Bond. While Bond may align with Mitchell here, he is much more like Worthy and has potential to slot right into the Worthy role in this offense. Travis Hunter may not play WR. If he does, he has the physical traits that align with separation and ball skills that we covet. Speaking of Hunter though, the next WR in Elic Ayomanor made his name by having a very good game against Travis Hunter. Ayomanor’s ridiculous performance against Colorado (13/294/3) definitely put him on the map, but he had a very strong proportion of his team’s receiving stats even after that game. Antonio Williams is a touch like Emeka Egbuka both stylistically and having suffered injuries throughout 2023. Williams was one of the most highly regarded prospects after his true freshman year, and he will look to reclaim some of that hype in 2024. Similarly, Barion Brown was considered unrefined with a lack of polish after his true freshman year, but Brown showcased some intriguing skills. In 2023, that mostly seemed to go away and Brown did not seem to make as much of an impact for the Kentucky offense. Hopefully, Brown will be able to take a step forward and be more than a Kick Returner at the next level. Finally, Tre Harris is an older prospect and doesn’t quite fit the rest of the names here in some ways, but Harris is a big dynamic player who might have a floor outcome similar to Tez Walker this year. With a good season, perhaps he can go quite a bit higher as well.
Other Names: Tre Harris (Ole Miss), Kyren Lacy (LSU), Deion Burks (Oklahoma via Purdue), Nic Anderson (Oklahoma), Antwane “Juice” Wells Jr. (Ole Miss via South Carolina), Malik Benson (Florida State via Alabama), Matthew Golden (Texas via Houston), Elijah Surratt (Indiana via James Madison), Tory Horton (Colorado St.), Colbie Young (Georgia via Miami(FL)), Dominic Lovett (Georgia)
Feel free to ask any questions about anyone else on this list or not on this list. The Fantasy For Real football show discusses a few different players as well.
TEs
TE is a crapshoot position that has worse hit rates than anywhere else even among the top players, and the number of players that will be truly impactful draft picks can be very limiting. Because of this, I don’t go as deep at the TE position, but I do want to get some names out there.
TE1: Colston Loveland, Michigan
Some early 2025 Mock Drafts have placed Loveland in the first round, and that is all the confirmation I need for the player who has been my TE1 for 2025 since before the 2023 Football Season. Loveland has excellent size, is a very young prospect, and has shown some very good pass catching upside in a limited role that is in part a result of the Michigan offense.
Other Names: Luke Lachey (Iowa), Mitchell Evans (Notre Dame), Amari Niblack (Texas via Alabama), Oscar Delp (Georgia), Holden Staes (Tennessee via Notre Dame), Mason Taylor (LSU), Oronde Gadsden II (Syracuse)
Feel free to ask any questions about anyone else on this list or not on this list. The Fantasy For Real football show discusses a few different players as well.
//
That’s all I have for today and that’s all I have for 2025 for a little while. I’ll be around to answer any redraft/dynasty/futures questions off-and-on, so feel free to leave any comments. Thought I was going to make an NFC RB rooms post potentially for Friday but pushing it likely to Monday.
Thanks,
C.J.

2024.05.11 16:49 cats64sonic The Catcher in the Rye: A Tale of Alienation, Pollution, and the Urgency of Conservation and Restoration

Introduction:
J.D. Salinger's novel "The Catcher in the Rye" is a classic coming-of-age story that follows the experiences of Holden Caulfield, a disillusioned teenager navigating the complexities of adolescence and adulthood in post-World War II America. While the novel is primarily a character study and social commentary on teenage angst and societal hypocrisy, it also offers insights into environmental issues such as pollution, conservation, and restoration. This essay explores the intersections between "The Catcher in the Rye," pollution, and the urgent need for conservation and restoration efforts to protect our planet.
"The Catcher in the Rye": Alienation, Identity, and Environmental Awareness
"The Catcher in the Rye" follows the story of Holden Caulfield, a disaffected teenager who struggles with feelings of alienation, disillusionment, and existential angst. As Holden wanders the streets of New York City, he encounters a world of phoniness, hypocrisy, and moral decay, which he finds deeply unsettling.
Throughout the novel, Holden expresses a deep sense of alienation from society and a longing for authenticity, sincerity, and connection with the natural world. His encounters with pollution, environmental degradation, and urban sprawl serve as a metaphor for the degradation of human values and the loss of innocence in the modern world.
Pollution: A Symbol of Societal Decay and Environmental Destruction
Pollution is a recurring theme in "The Catcher in the Rye," symbolizing the degradation of the natural world and the moral decay of society. Throughout the novel, Holden encounters various forms of pollution, including littered streets, polluted rivers, and smog-filled skies, which serve as reminders of humanity's destructive impact on the environment.
Holden's observations of pollution and environmental degradation reflect his disillusionment with society and his longing for a more authentic and meaningful connection with the natural world. Pollution serves as a visual and symbolic representation of the moral and environmental decay that Holden perceives in the world around him.
Conservation and Restoration: The Urgency of Environmental Stewardship
In "The Catcher in the Rye," Holden's encounters with pollution and environmental degradation underscore the urgent need for conservation and restoration efforts to protect our planet and preserve its natural beauty and biodiversity. As Holden reflects on the beauty and purity of childhood innocence, he longs for a world free from the pollution and environmental destruction that he sees around him.
Conservation and restoration efforts are essential for protecting and restoring the health and integrity of ecosystems around the world. By preserving natural habitats, reducing pollution, and promoting sustainable practices, we can protect biodiversity, mitigate climate change, and ensure a healthy and sustainable future for generations to come.
Conclusion
"The Catcher in the Rye" offers valuable insights into the connections between pollution, environmental degradation, and the urgent need for conservation and restoration efforts to protect our planet. As Holden Caulfield grapples with feelings of alienation and disillusionment, he is confronted by the reality of pollution and environmental destruction, which serve as symbols of societal decay and moral decline.
By examining the intersections between "The Catcher in the Rye," pollution, and conservation and restoration efforts, we can gain a deeper understanding of the urgent need to protect our planet and preserve its natural beauty and biodiversity. As we confront the environmental challenges of the 21st century, it is essential to heed Holden's call for authenticity, sincerity, and connection with the natural world, and to work together to build a more sustainable and resilient future for all. Just as Holden longs to protect the innocence and purity of childhood, so too must we strive to protect and preserve the beauty and biodiversity of our planet for future generations.

2024.05.10 21:48 w1nt3rw0rld Every Salinger character is just Holden Caulfield (and I like it)

I’m reading Franny and Zooey and every character so far is just a near iteration of Holden Caulfield from Catcher in the Rye. Frenetic, self-aware /self-hating to a fault, stuck up, objectively obnoxious. It’s grating as fuck and I love it.

2024.05.07 04:11 brownmagician Opel/Holden Antara/Captiva from 2009 to 2012 are they the same cars physically? Specifically the rear wing/spoiler?

Hi, I'm in Australia and need to replace a rear spoiler for a Holden Captiva 5 (which is just an Antara/Saturn Vue) and the model year is 2012. I found some wrecker yard ones from a 2010, are the exact same? There seemed to have been a "facelift" in 2012 so if the parts are in fact the same I can pick one up.
Just wanting to know if in fact they are the same, or anyone has knowledge of similar part numbers between 2010 and 2012 model years?

Chapter Summaries:
Chapter Sixteen: Miller - Miller watches a broadcast by the Martian government that blames “the Belt”-not the OPA-for the 2,086 Martian lives lost with the destruction of the Donnager. The Martian Navy will establish a military cordon in the Belt and take action to bring the attackers to justice. So far, it has destroyed 18 “illegal warships.” Miller realizes that if the situation escalates further, it will mean the end of everything he has ever known.
Shaddid calls Miller into her office, where Dawes is seated. Shaddid officially removes Miller from the Mao case and orders him to return all data on the case by the end of the day. Shaddid says his letter to Julie’s parents was a breach of policy and it didn’t go out.
Dawes tells Miller it’s not a good idea for Star Helix to be the organization that finds Julie. Earth and Star Helix need to keep their hands clean, but the OPA has the resources to do it right, and Mao was one of theirs. Miller points out that the Scopuli was the bait to kill the Canterbury and the Canterbury was the bait that ended the Donnager. Miller wonders why the suspects should be the only ones handling the investigation. Shaddid asserts that she’s not negotiating this. She dismisses Miller, telling him to go catch some bad guys. Miller agrees and leaves.
Later, Miller is back at the Blue Fog. The bar manager, Hasini, tells him he’s drunk and offers to get him home since it’s late. Miller contemplates “late”-he’s almost 50, so it’s too late to start again. It seems too late for anything. It occurs to him that he’s never seen a sky. He realizes the reason he’s feeling so low is not the job but the fact they took Julie away. He apparently has been talking about her all night, although he doesn’t remember. The bartender asserts that Miller is in love with her.
Chapter Seventeen: Holden - Holden and his crew are enjoying the aroma of coffee and food in the Tachi’s galley. No one is chasing them or knows where they are. They are assumed dead alongside the Donnager crew. They have water, fuel, and food, and they are well-armed. Holden says he’s inclined to take Johnson’s offer of refuge. The others agree. After giving the ship a thorough inspection, Holden finds Naomi on the operations deck. She’s working on the transponder. She’s done everything, including branding the ship as a gas freighter and entering the new name Holden chose: Rocinante. When Naomi asks what the name means, which is an allusion to the protagonist of Miguel de Cervantes’s 17th century novel Don Quixote.
Eventually, the Rocinante arrives at Tycho Station. Tycho was an early pioneer of massive Engineering projects that built the Belt’s habitats, making it now the largest mobile construction platform in the solar system. Despite that, it’s dwarfed by its latest project: the Nauvoo, a ship commissioned by a group of Mormons, who intended to embark on a 100-year trip to Tau Ceti, a star in the Cetus constellation that is similar to the Sol system’s sun. They enter an airlock, and Fred Johnson welcomes them to Tycho Station.
Chapter Eighteen: Miller - On Ceres, the six ships that took down the Donnager are hailed as heroes. The win gives Belters hope. Miller, meanwhile, feels stripped of years of lying to himself about being respected at his job. He’s nothing more than a functional alcoholic who’s been anesthetizing himself. Havelock was the only one who might have any respect for him. At least now he can stop trying to keep up appearances.
Miller thinks again of Dawes’s comment that the OPA has Holden. He questions how a ship could survive the Donnager attack without being all over the news feeds. He does the math to calculate the probabilities, but following up on all of them would take a year. Even when he narrows the options by ship type, the list is still too big.
Just as he starts getting returns on his log query, the government of Ceres collapses. Shaddid says Earth is pulling out of Ceres, but the Star Helix contract is still in place. Miller wonders if the 6 million people on Ceres are expendable. The OPA will step in to fill the power vacuum left by Earth but Mars will either take over the station or turn it to dust. Shaddid and Dawes were right, he thinks: Ceres under Earth contract was the best hope for a negotiated peace. By morning, Star Helix is all that separates Ceres from Anarchy. Shaddid calls Miller back to her office, where Dawes is waiting. She needs a strong team, and she doesn’t trust Miller. She fires him.
Chapter Nineteen: Holden - Holden wants to know why Fred and the OPA are interested in his crew. When Fred gets dodgy with answering his questions, Holden says he can tell the crew what he wants with them now or they will go back to their ship and try piracy. Fred talks about how war between Mars and the belt would be suicide and it’s only a matter of time before the combatants do something desperate, risking millions of lives.
Alex observes that Fred only talked about war and peace as options. There’s a third: a criminal trial, someone to blame for the current situation. As the only witnesses to the destruction of both the Canterbury and the Donnager, Fred calls them the ace in the hole and wants to use them to negotiate peace treaties. Weeks pass aboard Tycho and the crew are enjoying the amenities on the station. While Naomi, Alex and Amos find ways to entertain themselves, Holden feels out of place. He returns to the Rocinante, feeling more at home and considers everyone he lost as well as wanting vengeance. He eventually falls asleep.
Chapter Twenty: Miller - Ceres Station has become unmoored. Star Helix ended its contract, and the OPA has claimed control of the station. Physically it’s the same, but it’s altered political status has changed everything. Miller watches children play and envies their inclination to believe in their own invulnerability. Miller wants to find Holden, believing he may have information to aid in the search for Julie. Miller checks a message from Havelock, who has signed on with another security company, the Earth-based Protogen. He also checks ship logs, looking for leads. He sees the Rocinante and wonders why a gas hauler would be going from one consumer to another. Miller calls and asks Havelock for a favor, as he has no access, no weapon and is running out of money.
More riots follow and a curfew is set. Mars knows the Belt won’t win and the Belt knows it's nothing to lose. Miller works to find Holden and learn what happened to the Scopuli. Miller talks to an imaginary Julie, a construct he’s created to function as a companion. She thinks he’s pathetic for having nothing better to do than search for her. He books passage to Tycho but Havelock informs him that his “package” was headed for Eros, another asteroid station in the Belt. Miller changes his ticket to Eros.
Chapter Twenty One: Holden - On Tycho, Holden, Alex, and Amos are watching the war news. Mars is positioning itself as peacekeeper. Holden is impatient. He doesn’t want to hang around enjoying Fred Johnson’s hospitality—he wants to go after whoever destroyed the Cant. Naomi says they deserve their comfortable beds, food, and a chance to relax. She reminds Holden that he agreed to Johnson’s terms.
Holden says Fred owns them because he controls the purse strings. He thinks they should leave, get work, and make some money. The others are amenable, but they all want more time to unwind. Holden agrees to wait a few more days. Naomi tells Holden she’s been a bad XO because she’s been too pushy about some things, but he’s done a great job keeping them alive. Feeling proud, Holden thanks her. Naomi says he’s not captain just because McDowell died.
Fred tells Holden he wants to borrow the Roci. He needs a quiet ship to pick up something and bring it to Tycho. Holden doesn’t trust him and doesn’t want any part of a secret mission. Fred provides more detail: He needs someone to fly to Eros, pick up an operative named Lionel Polanski, and bring him back to Tycho. According to Fred, “Polanski” exists only on paper; someone used the name to check into a flophouse on Eros. Fred believes it’s a call for help. They negotiate: Holden won’t loan his ship, but Fred can hire the Roci and its crew. To conceal their identities, Holden suggests disguising the Roci to look like the gas freighter it’s supposed to be. Fred agrees to camouflage the ship, and Holden informs the crew they’re going to Eros.
Chapter Twenty Two: Miller - Miller is on a transport to Eros. The bar is open, and the drinks are cheap, but he’s not interested in drinking. He’s focused on Julie. A missionary strikes up a conversation. After a little back-and-forth about what religion the missionary is selling (he turns out to be Mormon), Miller reveals that he used to be a cop on Ceres, where he was born and spent his whole life. The missionary asks if he’ll ever go back, and Miller says no. He wonders why he doesn’t feel any loss.
Eros is filled with cheap casinos, sex clubs, opioid bars, and show-fight arenas. Miller stops at a noodle place and runs into Sematimba, an old friend he worked with on a difficult security case. Miller asks about Julie, but Sematimba doesn’t know anything. Miller says the case started out as an abduction but might be something big connected to the war. A riot breaks out nearby, and Sematimba leaves to police it. Miller heads toward a casino, reasoning that everyone who comes to Eros passes through the casinos.
Chapter Twenty Third: Holden - The Roci has arrived at Eros. After making their way through the casinos, they reach the flophouse. Amos tells Holden someone’s following them, giving a description of a man in a hat. A woman in the flophouse lobby orders Holden and the others to go with her. She points a small plastic gun at Alex’s head. Amos points his much more impressive gun at her. Several people barge in, shooting compact semiautomatics. A guy with a small machine gun advances toward Holden. Their tail—Miller—arrives and shoots the guy with the machine gun. Holden tells his crew not to shoot the guy with the hat. After the attackers leave, Holden introduces himself. The guy says his name is Miller.
Chapter Twenty Four: Miller goes into analytic mode. The flophouse ambush was sloppy; otherwise, Holden and his crew would have been taken or killed. Miller explains his presence: He’s looking for a crew member on the Scopuli. Holden says they’re also looking for someone who was on the Scopuli—someone who was supposed to be at the flophouse. Miller wonders if it’s Julie. They all head for the room Lionel Polanski is supposed to be occupying. Holden knocks on the door, but there’s no answer. Amos kicks in the door, revealing a dark room with an unpleasant smell.
They inspect the room. Holden orders everyone not to touch anything. They follow a trail of dark fluid, not blood, to the bathroom, where the smell is worse. The lights inside are all destroyed. Black tendrils reach toward the broken fixtures. In the shower stall, Julie lies dead, naked except for the tendrils and tubes coming out of her orifices and the bony spurs she’s grown. Miller orders everyone out. Sematimba arrives, and Miller tells him the girl he was looking for is dead in the room. He admits that he’s in over his head. He knows the attack was a set-up. He gestures toward Holden and tells Sematimba who he is

2024.05.05 02:41 Paganini_Caprisun The Catcher in the Rye: Holden's Hunting Hat

It's evident that Holden Caulfield's hat holds a lot of importance. However, I was wondering if the color had any significance. I know that the hat is likely red because he values individuality and wants to isolate himself from his world of "phonies" by standing out. However, I also think Holden's hat is red because both of his siblings, Allie and Phoebe, have red hair. By wearing the hat, he can resemble his siblings and connect with them even when they are away. It adds to the confidence he receives whenever he wears the hat. But I'm not sure if this is a valid "theory." What do you guys think?

2024.05.04 08:05 bookish_nightmare Something sweet and wonderful

Hi Reddit! I've been feeling nostalgic lately about the good old days. I'm about to ship off to college in a few months and well, it's been tough.
If it helps, I'd like something like Matilda by Roald Dahl and The help by Kathryn Stockett. They are both so beautifully written. And throw in a bit of Holden Caulfield angst.
I'm craving a protagonist that is studious, quiet, angsty, sweet and troubled. Someone that's lost in their own head. Someone like who I used to be.
I've outgrown the introversion and the studious me is barely clinging on. I just want to be transported back in time. Maybe something close to my roots as well? Something Indian or within the South Asian subcontinent.
So, d'you think you could help me?

2024.05.01 19:48 cadablog [All] What are your weirdest LiS head-cannon's?

Here's mine:
  1. Ryan Caulfield is actually a realtor and not that physically active. He's just naturally built like a lumberjack.
  2. When Max and Chloe finally tie the knot, Max wears a visible price tag on her veil. Everyone besides Chloe and Ryan are confused by it, and Max eventually has to explain that it was a tribute to William and his bad puns (Max took Chloe's last name).
  3. Chloe's hatred of emoji's is rooted in a subconscious trauma she has from her first cell phone, and her frustrations over never figuring out how to make a proper emoji using the multi press keypad.

2024.05.01 19:42 GiandTew Crit build in 14.10

All crit items give 25% chance again. I copy pasted from franktheboxmonster's post, here's a list of items that give crit with the new pbe patch as well as their changes:

Collector

Essence Reaver

Immortal Shieldbow

Infinity Edge

Lord Dominik's Regards

Mortal Reminder

Navori

Phantom Dancer

Rapid Firecannon

Yun Tal Wildarrows

(Runaan's also got changed but is irrelevant to viego because he can't build it)
Essence Reaver now only refunds mana with no sheen passive so obviously is really bad on viego now. Rapid Firecannon also seems bad on viego, especially with the AD being removed. I also think phantom dancer isn't going to be good because the AD got removed. Navori also got its AD removed and replaced by attack speed, which I also feel won't be good for viego, he doesn't really need the cdr anyways. I assume that LDMR is also going to still be mutually exclusive, since there's nothing saying it isn't.
Based on my take, the only viable crit items for crit viego should be infinity edge, collector, LDMR, shieldbow, and the new item Wildarrows. If the bleed from wildarrows stacks, then viego would probably use it very well as a second or third item in a crit build, although I'm unsure if it would apply on viego's passive autos. If it does, then 35*4=140% tAD bleed over 2 seconds sound pretty good to me even if ideally crit viego wants to kill you before that time is up.
Shieldbow's stats look really bad for a 3000g item and the item also doesn't provide lifesteal anymore, even if the AD got increased by 5, I will have to do more testing but to me seems like shieldbow would be better into squishies that do more damage to you while wildarrows would do better into bruisers and tanks but I don't trust my takes. I still don't know what's bugged and what's not on PBE right now so I wouldn't take current pbe testing too seriously.
And I have no idea what to build for last item but we can talk about that later
Let me know what you think if you are also a crit viego enjoyer
