Link for all the chapters available here: Engines of Arachnea on Royal Road
It had not been a restful night, all things considered.
First there had been that hideous roar which had shaken the whole jungle into frightened silence, the cries of the nocturnal creatures obliterated by what Zildiz had first mistaken for a violent monsoon wind. For the second time in this miserable day she had looked up and beheld a creature which had no place in the natural world. A winged manta moving so swiftly that it had already passed out of sight before she could even begin to process what she had just seen.
The last thing she needed right now was another challenge to her already tenuous understanding of the world as it was. The grey behemoth from earlier had already left her mind groping for some rational explanation, one that continued to elude her despite Zildiz’s best attempts to form useful analogies.
Sleep soon proved impossible. Her agile mind was too busy wrestling with questions. Was the grey behemoth an act of nature or the result of the Vitalus’ direct intervention, a sort of living earthquake or forest fire that he could summon at will? Had the Vitalus created it solely to eradicate an entire biome? If so, then why? The Amits had always been a central part of the cycles of change, altering the atmosphere through their mound respiratory systems and building the wind walls to help regulare the climate. Why had they drawn the All-In-One’s displeasure? Alternatively, if It had not created the grey behemoth, then what had?
Zildiz left her lair and went for a walk to clear her head. It was well and truly night now, black as the pit and with only the stars to guide her steps. Zildiz’s compound eyes were useless in these conditions. Thankfully her other pair were designed specifically for this, their yellow irises widening to double their usual diameter. Gallivants sometimes hunted at night, though it was a bit trickier than in the day. Her simple eyes could only see within a narrow frontal cone and left her blind in the directions in which she was not directly facing.
Her olfactory organs caught the scent of some speckled tree frogs and she hovered up into the lower boughs of the trees, impaling them on her mantid blades and skinning them carefully to avoid the poisonous coatings which they secreted. Her digestive system could weed out all but the deadliest of toxins, but tonight she wanted to relax and conserve her strength.
That is, until she picked up the trail of another animal close by. She found its tracks in the soil, catching the bright sheen where its feet had compacted the mud. Judging by the depth and spacing of the prints, Zildiz concluded that it was heavy and slow-moving. Also, it had no toes—its foot was made up of a single large hoof that left zigzagging patterns of grooves.
Confusing. Then again, she wasn’t all that familiar with the species of this biome. Well, whatever it was she looked forward to finding out what it tasted like. Zildiz was ravenous. Come to think of it, she had heard what sounded like a large animal crashing through the forest shortly after the flying monsters had appeared, no doubt fleeing from them in fear. Sharpening her blades against each other, Zildiz eagerly set off in pursuit.
Such a meal would sustain her for days. Enough to get her back home again without having to constantly stop and hunt for victuals. This animal did not move quickly even when it was clearly in a hurry. It was the sort of prey-form she could run down even in her injured state. A broken branch and a stone overturned from its resting place guided her in for the kill.
She was close now, barely thirteen wingspans away if she had to guess from the richness of its scent. Too close to risk using her wings—the noise of their fluttering would give her away. Still, it would be better to attack it from above, if only to save her the trouble of a long chase through unfamiliar territory. She sheathed her blades in their housings of flesh and stole up a nearby trunk, her light body making barely a rustle as she transferred her weight between the branches. The going was tortuously slow. She didn’t know how the Leapers could put up with this painstaking approach to killing. It just seemed so very inefficient compared to her way of doing things.
Zildiz took a moment to let her eyes adjust to the deepening night. It did not take long to spot the prey-form. An albino! Its exoskeleton was as white as the snow she’d glimpsed on the peaks of far-off mountains beyond the salt plains. Zildiz wondered how it could have survived long enough to grow so large. The complete lack of camouflage, the plodding pace and the lack of any noticeable armaments made it perfect Leaper food. Perhaps it had some sort of hidden defense mechanism? Like spewing noxious musk out of a gland next to its anus, or having poisonous skin like the frogs (perhaps that would explain its bright and noticeable colors)? What if it was tracking her movements even now, just waiting for her to play right into its hands? Oh, but that would be a clever survival strategy. Zildiz hesitated, beginning to suspect a trap.
But the longer she observed the prey-form, the quicker she came to the conclusion that it was not some cunning adversary, but rather a slow-witted member of its species.
It had tried to hide by wedging itself between the roots of a fatwax tree, covering itself with a single broad palm leaf in a pathetic attempt at camouflage. Something in its total defenselessness and the way it was tucked up into a ball with its arms and legs drawn in reminded Zildiz of her own children. She even felt a morsel of guilt at having to kill it before she squashed the unexpected emotion within herself.
Guilt? For ensuring her survival and that of her brood? She was getting soft in her age. Zildiz made the final preparations, adjusting her footing for the pounce that would end it all. A blade stuck between head and thorax would do it, followed by a twisting wrench of her wrist to sever the nerve cord and render the prey-form totally paralyzed, but still alive as she fed upon it. Zildiz preferred them that way—all the flavors really came to the fore when the meat was still fresh and twitching in the mouth.
She was just about to make her move when an odd breeze made the follicles on her neck stand on end. Danger! Zildiz froze in place and scanned the jungle floor, careful not to move single muscle for fear of giving away her position. Four figures detached themselves from the shifting shadows, each standing nine feet tall on their long, hairy and backwards-jointed legs and making not a whisper as they converged onto her tree.
Leapers! Fighting against the mounting horror she felt, Zildiz steeled herself for the fight of her life.

2024.05.14 15:00 RogueWisdom Urvin Finance - A Denouncement

Urvin Finance - A Denouncement
Good Morning Everyone.
I hope many of you are still feeling excited about the current prospects of the stock with the return of Roaring Kitty himself. However, to those new or absent to the sub this last while, it is not the only recent news being digested within the community. Since the launch of Urvin Finance and their subsequently controversial plans to build communities gatekept behind Proof of Ownership, I decided to do some digging. The answers are, as you will soon see, worthy of condemnation.

Reposted from [REDACTED], confirmed by myself
I began my investigation by going through the Terms and Conditions of the usage of Computershare’s services. You can view it yourself here, which I would ask you to do if you wish to follow my research: https://cda.computershare.com/Content/007488c9-6816-4842-93f0-3f3abe87184c
Section 4 of this document details what you cannot do while connected to their service. This entire section contains much that would give Urvin’s actions red flags, but 4.4 and 4.12 in particular explicitly state it is forbidden to pull any kind of data from other users. The only exception for this kind of behaviour is stated within Sections 9.3 and 9.4, regarding Third-Party services that are authorised by Computershare to do so.
As a result, I proceeded to send an email to Computershare Services to confirm if they have any special arrangement with Urvin. This was my email, and their subsequent response:

https://preview.redd.it/k2xi9msazd0d1.png?width=611&format=png&auto=webp&s=1b9d94919d3d48edc87bdb19a35e128305142ad1

For the completely honest record, I am aware that: 1) The reply was not from the email address I had originally sent it to, and 2) It mentions GameStop Corp even though I had not stated it in the prior communication. I have, however, checked and confirmed that the shrrelations address is a legitimate Computershare email account. Also due to the GameStop namedrop, I suspect that I was far from the first person to query Computershare regarding this issue.
So to summarise, Computershare is explicitly stating to NOT put your account details into Urvin Finance, or ANY other third-party website. As for me, I should state that if you have already given them account data, PLEASE change your account passwords immediately, and activate 2FA if you haven’t already.
As for Urvin Finance’s own Terms of Service, it does not get much brighter. To begin with, they are currently unavailable to view unless you have already logged into an account with them. I have made one using a browser and email address that are not tied in to any current account cookies, so as to maintain my own security. If you wish to do the same thing, please make sure to also be mindful of your own account info.
https://preview.redd.it/72xh23jjzd0d1.png?width=678&format=png&auto=webp&s=8450a1dc314179e7baed30c2b9efad0f636dc9bd
There are two things that popped out at me within their Terms of Service. First, the “Sensitive Personal Data” has a section that is out of step with the rest of the document. It is as if it was written very hastily by a person whose first language is not English. For a section so important, the feeling that it has only recently been “crudely paved over” is far from comforting.
https://preview.redd.it/c5yxtc5szd0d1.png?width=1446&format=png&auto=webp&s=26db1a8fb0abbaee5a0c8ba7931c932408e29d40
Secondly, and more critically, this agreement, should you accept it by making your account in the first place, forces you to settle any legal disputes with them solely through Arbitration. Class Actions are forbidden as well, so if a large group of disenfranchised users think to sue, they cannot legally do it through court systems, and have to each commit to a one-on-one dispute. On top of that, Arbitration is a system that has a very strong bias in favour of the defending party, as the defending party can pick and choose who to act as arbitrator, and as such, who is granted the commission. So if you were to sue Urvin for them breaching your trust, you would have to be prepared for a lengthy and lonely procedure, with little likelihood of a beneficial outcome.
https://preview.redd.it/wnhwmybyzd0d1.png?width=1470&format=png&auto=webp&s=abca5ba08c059ee12f50814a4ca0284e6110a4a6
Finally, as I am writing this, I have discovered something that some of you would be no doubt happy about. As of right now, Urvin no longer allows users to plug their Computershare details into their service, as shown here:
(It used to be right there, under C.)
Does that give cause for celebration? NO. If they have done this blatant disrespect of rules with Computershare, and then proceeded to try and conceal it, they likely have done this with many, if not all, other brokers showcased in this section, who may also be in the same boat.
If you have an account of any kind with the following brokers:
Acorns,
Alpaca,
Binance,
Bitbuy,
Bitfinex,
Bitflyer,
Bitstamp,
Bittrex,
Bux,
Celsius,
Cexlo,
Coinbase,
Coinlist,
Crypto.com,
Degiro,
EToro,
ETrade,
Fidelity,
Gatelo,
Gemini,
Huobi,
Kraken,
KuCoin,
MXBank,
OkCoin/Okx,
OpenSea,
Public,
Questrade,
Robinhood,
Schwab,
Stake,
Stash,
Tradier,
Vanguard,
Wealthtrade,
Webull;
I would ask you to email a representative of your broker in question to confirm if they have or have not made third-party dealings with Urvin. If not, they may also be breaking the brokers’ Terms of Service, and thus should be absolutely brought to light.
EDIT: It has come to my attention that Urvin partnered with another company, SnapTrade, as part of their portfolio-binding process [EDIT2: and another, Mesh, although that much is not so certain]. However I have not yet seen a list of which brokers have partnered with SnapTrade. Thus, if you wish to query your broker, ask if they have agreed to collaborate with either [Mesh,] Urvin or SnapTrade. As Computershare have stated on no uncertain terms that no third-party website is authorised, this does not impact their previous statement.
TL;DR: Urvin Finance have a lot to take account for.

2024.05.14 14:27 drambikachestclinic How does cystic fibrosis impact adults?

Impact of Cystic Fibrosis on Adults

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disorder that primarily affects the respiratory and digestive systems, but it can also have implications for other parts of the body. With advancements in treatment and care, more people with CF are living into adulthood. However, managing the condition in adults involves dealing with a range of challenges and complications.

Respiratory System

  1. Chronic Lung Infections: Adults with CF often experience recurrent lung infections due to thick, sticky mucus that traps bacteria. Common pathogens include Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus.
  2. Reduced Lung Function: Over time, repeated infections and inflammation can lead to a decline in lung function, making breathing more difficult.
  3. Bronchiectasis: The airways become permanently widened, leading to persistent cough, mucus production, and further infections.
  4. Respiratory Failure: In severe cases, lung damage can progress to the point where the lungs cannot provide adequate oxygen to the body, requiring advanced interventions like oxygen therapy or lung transplantation.

Digestive System

  1. Pancreatic Insufficiency: Thick mucus can block the ducts of the pancreas, preventing digestive enzymes from reaching the intestines. This leads to malabsorption of nutrients, malnutrition, and vitamin deficiencies.
  2. Diabetes: CF-related diabetes (CFRD) is common in adults due to the damage to the pancreas. It shares characteristics of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
  3. Liver Disease: Blockages in the bile ducts can lead to liver damage, cirrhosis, and portal hypertension.
  4. Intestinal Issues: CF can cause intestinal blockages, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and distal intestinal obstructive syndrome (DIOS).

Reproductive System

  1. Infertility: Most men with CF are infertile due to congenital absence of the vas deferens, which carries sperm from the testes. However, assisted reproductive technologies can help achieve pregnancy.
  2. Reduced Fertility in Women: Thick cervical mucus can make it harder for sperm to reach the egg, but many women with CF can still conceive naturally or with assistance.

Musculoskeletal System

  1. Osteoporosis: Due to malabsorption of calcium and vitamin D, adults with CF are at higher risk for osteoporosis and fractures.
  2. Arthritis: Some adults may develop CF-related arthritis or musculoskeletal pain.

Psychosocial Impact

  1. Mental Health: The chronic nature of CF can lead to anxiety, depression, and stress. The need for continuous treatment and hospitalizations can impact quality of life.
  2. Social and Work Life: Managing CF often requires time-consuming treatments and frequent medical appointments, which can interfere with work and social activities.

Treatment and Management

  1. Medications:
  1. Airway Clearance Techniques: Daily physiotherapy to clear mucus from the lungs.
  2. Nutritional Support: High-calorie diet, vitamin supplements, and enzyme replacements.
  3. Exercise: Regular physical activity to maintain lung function and overall health.
  4. Psychological Support: Counseling or therapy to help manage the emotional aspects of living with CF.
  5. Advanced Therapies: Lung transplantation may be an option for those with severe lung disease.

Conclusion

While cystic fibrosis poses significant challenges for adults, ongoing advancements in medical care and treatment strategies are helping many individuals manage their condition more effectively and lead fuller lives. Comprehensive, multidisciplinary care is essential to address the complex needs of adults with CF, including respiratory, digestive, reproductive, and psychosocial aspects. Regular follow-up with healthcare providers specialized in CF care is crucial for optimizing health outcomes and maintaining quality of life.

2024.05.14 14:10 lightfeatherc I have been getting constantly sick at work. I am miserable.

I (25F) became an instructional assistant for sped preschool this school year. I love my job, my students, my coworkers. I met my partner at work. I have fun, and it pays well. But I am chronically ill, diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at 5 years old. My immune system is nonexistent due to this and my biologic medications. I have gotten sick every month since school started. This ranges from head colds to Covid multiple times to rashes to UTIs and more. I feel like I’m just constantly suffering and miserable. I had a conversation with HR early in the year to have them understand my situation so I’ve gotten leeway with taking off due to illness.
School ends next week, and I am invited to come back next year but I’m not sure what to do anymore. I don’t know if my body can take the constant illnesses for another year. The only problem is that it’s nearly impossible to find another job, especially one that pays as well as this.
What advice can you guys offer?

Overview of Primary School Teacher Salaries in West Bengal.
Understanding the Primary School Teacher Salary in West Bengal offers valuable insight into the education sector's dynamics in this region. West Bengal, with its rich cultural heritage and emphasis on education, presents a unique landscape for educators, especially at the primary level. This overview aims to shed light on the salary structure, comparing it with preschool teacher salaries and discussing the implications of such financial considerations on the education system in India.
https://preview.redd.it/jau92lserd0d1.jpg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=688f80d6498b8d802f45a4861d6649c45e73a43f

The Financial Landscape for Primary School Teachers in West Bengal

In West Bengal, primary school teachers play an important role in shaping the state's youth. Their pay are decided by a variety of variables, including experience, educational credentials, and government policy.

Starting Salaries and Progression

  • Entry-Level Salaries: For new educators, the starting salary can vary, often influenced by the type of institution (government vs. private) and specific qualifications.
  • Incremental Increases: Teachers can expect periodic increments, which are typically governed by state policies and performance evaluations.

Comparisons with Preschool Teacher Salaries

  • Preschool Teacher Salary: Often, preschool teachers in India, including West Bengal, may start with lower salaries compared to primary school teachers due to different qualification requirements and the private nature of many preschools.
  • Impact of Experience and Location: Salaries for both primary and preschool teachers can vary significantly with experience and the location of the school, reflecting the cost of living and demand for qualified teachers.

Factors Influencing Salary

Several key factors play a crucial role in determining the salary of primary school teachers in West Bengal:
  • Government Policies: State government policies are a primary determinant, with pay scales set according to official pay commissions.
  • Qualifications: Higher educational qualifications and specialized training can lead to better pay scales.
Type of School: Government schools often offer higher salaries compared to private institutions, attributed to standardized pay scales.

Challenges and Opportunities

While the salary of a Primary School Teacher in West Bengal provides a stable income, there are challenges and opportunities that impact their financial growth and professional development.

Challenges

  • Cost of Living Adjustments: Salaries may not always keep pace with the rising cost of living, especially in urban areas.
  • Resource Constraints: Limited resources in some schools can affect the quality of education and teacher satisfaction.

Opportunities

  • Professional Development: Opportunities for further education and training can lead to salary increments and promotions.
  • Technology Integration: Tools like the school parent app are revolutionizing educational methodologies, offering teachers new ways to engage with students and parents and potentially opening up avenues for additional income through e-learning platforms.

The Bigger Picture: Preschools in India

The discussion on salaries extends beyond West Bengal, reflecting broader trends in best preschools in India. Preschool teachers, while pivotal to early childhood education, often navigate financial constraints, highlighting the need for a comprehensive approach to educator compensation across the board.

Nationwide Trends

  • Varied Pay Scales: Across India, preschool teacher salaries vary widely, influenced by regional economic conditions and the private or public nature of the institution.
  • Demand for Qualified Educators: With a growing emphasis on early childhood education, there's an increasing demand for well-qualified preschool teachers, potentially influencing salary structures in the future.

Conclusion: Valuing Education Through Fair Compensation

The pay for primary school teachers in West Bengal and their preschool equivalents reflects broader themes of educational value, recognition, and investment. Fair compensation is critical for attracting and maintaining outstanding teachers, which in turn influences the quality of education delivered to future generations. As West Bengal and India as a whole continue to evolve their educational landscapes, there is promise for a future in which educators at all levels are fairly compensated for their vital contributions to society.
Ensuring that teachers are fairly remunerated is not just about financial security; it's about recognizing the pivotal role educators play in shaping the future. As technologies like the school parent app continue to integrate into the educational framework, they offer new platforms and methodologies for teaching, potentially influencing salary structures and the teaching profession's overall landscape.

I am not sure if I want to solve this issue actually, I just want to vent.
iX, what do you think yourself when you print out this error message to a "customer"?
I mean your installation of Kubernetes on a single host is crap and using helm charts that utterly break in an atomic chain reaction that way doesnt make it trustworthy. I am on the way to migrate nextcloud away again from TrueNAS to a docker host and just use TrueNAS as storage.
I dont care about sensible data down there, at the time of posting, this system isnt running anymore. Sorry if I annoy somebody.

2024.05.14 11:35 Sea_Independent_3831 Working with a disability

Hi, I'm 23, I live in the UK, and I have a laundry list of physical and mental health issues that are still largely undiagnosed due to our failing healthcare system, so I'm also being left to completely self manage. Now the government is trying to push disabled people back into work without actually providing the necessary health care and support and I don't know what to do. I'm estranged from my family so I have no support that way and have no choice but to live independently, I have to be able to pay my bills and living costs, and I also have no idea if a job even exists that I'd be suitable for.
I dropped out of secondary school because my health was so poor my school attendance was 34%, I am unqualified to do pretty much anything. I'm considering going back into education hoping that it will open some doors but even that would be a monumental task so here are my limitations:
I would need a minimum of 3 days a month in sick days just to manage my endometriosis flare ups, I would not even be able to work from home on those days as they are mostly spent on the bathroom floor somewhere between consciousness and unconsciousness in unmanageable pain.
I have joint and mobility issues that have a flare/remission pattern and are wildly unpredictable, I wake up with dislocated shoulders frequently and randomly, I could go 6 months with my knees being fine and then have recurring patella dislocations that leave me wheelchair bound as crutches cause my elbows problems. I might be able to work from home on days this is an issue.
I have social and sensory issues that are thought to be undiagnosed autism (my brother and father are autistic, I showed all the same signs as my brother, I was just punished for my traits while he was accommodated.) This affects me in work profoundly because I frequently misunderstand instructions or feedback, take things very literally, am seen as overly pedantic and difficult to instruct, and get very burnt out by any kind of customer facing roles, and things like work uniforms, jobs involving unpleasant sensory tasks, can all cause me to experience periods of verbal shut down, self injuring behaviour, repetitive motion (pacing, rocking) and become intolerant of lights, sounds, and temperature. This is a constant issue that I don't know how to manage.
I have chronic pain that also has flare ups, baseline pain, and somewhat remission, it affects my muscles and joints and is unpredictable, baseline pain I'm somewhat functional but limited, flare ups have me bed bound and unable to concentrate. I may be able to work from home on some of these days but not others.
I have digestive issues that cause nausea, alternating bowel movements between cant go and going too much, episodes of passing blood, mucus, extreme painful bloating, severe nausea and weight loss, but there are brief periods of remission. I probably wouldn't be able to do a full day of work from home during a flare up due to the time constraints of actively being in flare up.
I have been coughing up mucus to a point of bleeding from the back of my throat for about a year, I also have episodes of air hunger with pain and wheezing. Again, thank you NHS for no diagnosis or treatment. I could work from home during a flare up of this issue most of the time.
I have some kind of blood pressure or fainting issue, when I stand, I'm close to fainting, its worse when standing still, sometimes walking just about keeps me going but sometimes it ends with my faceplanting the floor, loosing consciousness and fitting. This is unpredictable and I've done everything I can to manage symptoms (cutting out nicotine, caffeine, sugar, pushing fluids and gentle floor based exercise when possible.) I would not be able to go anywhere during a flare up, I'm dubious about my ability to work from home during a particularly bad episode as post faint/fit I'm usually confused and out of commission for hours.
I also struggle with depression, getting out of bed, showering, making food (when physical issues allow) can be a struggle. I also have CPTSD, anxiety, agoraphobia, PMDD, derealisation and depersonalisation. So on bad mental health days, I don't feel real, the world doesn't seem real, I'm reliving traumatic events, can't leave my home, and have back to back panic attacks while having no energy or inclination to care for myself.
All in all, I don't think anyone would want to employ me, and I'm very uncertain about my ability to work, but seeing as my government has created an environment where I can't get adequate healthcare to manage any of my conditions, doesn't believe that I'm that severely disabled due to lack of formal diagnoses for the physical health problems despite my medical record reflecting me seeking help since age 10 for most of these issues, and therefore is now trying to force me back into work or else stop all my payments leaving me homeless and penniless, I'm not sure what to do. I can't stay with family, and they would not financially support me regardless, I've got no safety net. I don't think any jobs exist with the flexibility I need, AND the certainty I'd need of income.
Any advice would be appreciated, I'm really trying to rack my brain for any workable solutions but it's looking bleak.
TLTR:
Physically disabled, mentally ill, unable to access adequate health care, no family support, and possibly being forced to work despite not being able.

2024.05.14 09:57 perris1922 Cheez-It: Not Ideal for Cats by Mike Adams

Your feline friend might bat its big eyes at you with irresistible charm while you enjoy a Cheez-It. But the question remains: should those cheesy squares become part of your kitty’s diet? Let’s dive into the world of feline snacking and uncover the truth about Cheez-Its and cats.

Technically Tasty, But Trouble Lurks Beneath the Surface

While Cheez-Its don’t contain any ingredients that are inherently poisonous to cats, most adult felines are lactose intolerant. This means that dairy products like cheese can cause stomach upset. Their bodies simply don’t produce enough of the enzyme lactase, which is needed to digest milk sugar (lactose).
Just like us humans who struggle with lactose intolerance, cats who consume dairy can experience a range of reactions, from mild discomfort to full-blown vomiting and diarrhea. While the image of a kitten lapping up milk is undeniably adorable, cats actually don’t require dairy in their diet, and it can even make them sick.

Beyond the Cheese: Sodium and Fat Overload

Cheez-Its are also loaded with sodium and fat, which aren’t exactly kind to your cat’s sensitive digestive system. While the occasional salty or fatty treat might not faze us humans, cats have different digestive systems and nutritional needs. As obligate carnivores, cats thrive on a diet primarily composed of meat-based foods. Most human snacks, including Cheez-Its, are best left off the menu. There are even some foods that are downright toxic to cats, so it’s crucial to be mindful of what you share with your furry friend.

Uh Oh! My Cat Snagged a Cheez-It!

If your cat manages to swipe a Cheez-It from your bowl, or you’ve offered them one in the past, don’t panic! While most cats can’t digest lactose well, a single Cheez-It likely won’t cause any major harm.
However, it’s best to avoid making Cheez-Its a regular part of your cat’s diet, or a substitute for their actual cat treats. An occasional cracker or a small piece shouldn’t cause any issues. Just keep an eye on your cat for signs of vomiting or diarrhea, and make sure they have plenty of fresh water available. If you notice anything concerning, it’s always best to consult your veterinarian.

To Share or Not to Share: The Cheesy Dilemma

The biggest concern when it comes to feeding Cheez-Its to cats is lactose intolerance, but the high sodium and fat content are also red flags. While Cheez-Its do contain a small amount of vitamins B1 and B2, the potential for stomach upset outweighs any minor nutritional benefit.
Offering your cat human snacks too often could also lead them to become disinterested in their regular meals. If your kitty starts snubbing their nose at their food, cut back on the treats and stick to their regular diet until they get back on track.

The Final Feline Verdict: An Occasional Treat, Not a Staple

While an occasional Cheez-It won’t send your cat into a tailspin, it’s best to avoid making it a regular habit. There are plenty of delicious treats formulated specifically for your feline friend’s nutritional needs. And let’s not forget, a small piece of real meat might just be the purrfectly pawsome alternative!

2024.05.14 08:49 Netsol98 Transforming Mathura: The Rise of Sewage Treatment Plant Manufacturing

Mathura, a city steeped in historical and religious significance, is undergoing a modern transformation that promises to enhance its environmental sustainability and public health. Known as the birthplace of Lord Krishna, Mathura is now making headlines for a different reason: its burgeoning sewage treatment plant (STP) manufacturing industry.

A New Chapter for Mathura

Historically, Mathura has been a city of pilgrimage and tourism, drawing millions of visitors annually to its sacred temples and ghats along the Yamuna River. However, this influx of people has also contributed to environmental challenges, particularly in terms of water pollution and waste management. The Yamuna River, which holds religious significance, has suffered from severe pollution due to untreated sewage discharge, industrial effluents, and solid waste.
Recognizing the urgent need to address these environmental concerns, both the government and private sectors have initiated various projects to improve the city’s waste management infrastructure. Central to these efforts is the development of sewage treatment plants, which play a crucial role in treating wastewater before it is released into natural water bodies.

Government Initiatives and Investments

The government has been a pivotal player in promoting the establishment of STPs in Mathura. Under the Namami Gange Programme, which aims to clean and rejuvenate the Ganga and its tributaries, significant investments have been made to install and upgrade sewage treatment facilities in the city. The Mathura-Vrindavan STP project, in particular, has garnered attention as a model for public-private partnership in environmental management.
This initiative, supported by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), has led to the construction of advanced sewage treatment plants that incorporate modern technologies such as anaerobic digestion, activated sludge processes, and membrane bioreactors. These technologies ensure that the treated water meets stringent quality standards, reducing the environmental impact on the Yamuna River.

Rise of the Manufacturing Industry

The increased demand for sewage treatment plants has spurred the growth of a local manufacturing industry dedicated to producing these essential systems. Mathura is now home to several companies specializing in the design, production, and installation of STPs. This industrial growth has not only provided a boost to the local economy but has also positioned Mathura as a key player in India’s environmental technology sector.
Local manufacturers are focusing on innovation and efficiency, developing compact and cost-effective STP solutions that can be deployed in urban and rural areas alike. These companies are leveraging advancements in engineering and technology to create systems that are not only effective in treating wastewater but also energy-efficient and easy to maintain.

Economic and Social Benefits

The rise of STP manufacturing in Mathura has brought multiple benefits to the city. Economically, it has created jobs and business opportunities, contributing to the region’s development. Skilled workers, engineers, and technicians are now in demand, leading to improved livelihoods and economic stability for many families.
Socially, the establishment of effective sewage treatment infrastructure has had a positive impact on public health. By reducing the pollution levels in the Yamuna River, the risk of waterborne diseases has decreased, improving the overall quality of life for residents. Additionally, cleaner water bodies enhance the aesthetic and recreational value of the city, potentially attracting more tourists and boosting the local economy further.

Future Prospects

Looking ahead, Mathura’s transformation into a hub for STP manufacturing is expected to continue. With increasing awareness of environmental issues and government support for sustainable initiatives, the demand for sewage treatment solutions is likely to rise. Mathura’s manufacturers are well-positioned to meet this demand, driving further innovation and growth in the sector.
In conclusion, Mathura’s journey from a historic city grappling with environmental challenges to a modern hub of Sewage Treatment Plant Manufacturer in Mathura is a testament to the power of strategic investment and innovation. As the city continues to embrace sustainable practices, it not only preserves its rich cultural heritage but also paves the way for a cleaner, healthier future.

2024.05.14 04:32 JbRoc63 Stomach pain - what causes it and does anything help? (Flair doesn't match question, but I am forced to choose flair.)

My biggest gastroparesis problem lately has been stomach pain, like my stomach just hurts most of the time. It's not a burning sensation (I get that, too), but just pain.
Does anyone know what exactly causes gastroparesis-related stomach pain? My theory has been that most of my pain stems from excess gas, as my digestive system seems to produce much more gas since the GP started. But, I don't know for sure if that's true and if there are other causes.
And, has anyone experiencing stomach pain found any relief? And, if so, what helped?
The pain has been so constant the last few days, it's really getting depressing.
TIA for any help!

2024.05.14 04:24 throw-away696942 Urinary/Digestive All Screwed Up

I am a 26 year old male.
About 7 years ago, I suddenly noticed that not matter how hard I strained, it felt like I couldn’t fully evacuate stool and would have the “infinite wipe glitch” (especially if it was tacky).
I went to my dr. and he sort of just hand-waved it as "IBS" and checked my prostate.
Fast forward to about 4 years ago, and I started taking metamucil when I was having a bout of digestive issues to get my system aligned, which worked really well.
Then (not sure if related or coincidence) I started getting a crazy bad urge to urinate, especially right before bed. Sometimes having to go 5 times right before bed in a row, minutes apart.
That ebbed and flowed over the past 4 years, but I feel like it has become permanent in the last 2 years. There are still periods where I don’t notice for a week or a few days.
I also notice that when I wake up in the morning I have to pee and it’s like an almost sore/aching pain rather than what it used to feel like years ago when I had to go.
Additional symptom I have noticed is that when this is all flaring up, I need to fully empty my bladder prior to sex or it’ll make me ejaculate quicker than normal and kind of build up in feeling like I have to pee throughout the course of intercourse.
I have hemmroids (bright blood on TP pretty frequently when wiping) also - really fun, right.
I notice my symptoms flare up the most after bowel movements, and sort of exacerbate themselves the more I think about them. Also flare up after masturbation/sex sometimes. Also think my pee stream is weak most of the time. Semen also sometimes has yellowish hue. Negative on UTI tests.
(Note: I did notice the weird peeing/sex thing as early as when I was 16 flare up sometimes)
I got a full body in depth scan some months ago and the only flagged issue was “mucosal thickening of the recto-sigmoid junction”, which can be a number of things or an artifact from scanning. My bilirubin is slightly elevated, but always has been (only slightly out of range). My LDL cholesterol is 110, aside from that labs are and have been all clean.
This has been really impacting my mental state the past few years, and I’m willing to spend any amount of time/money to get back to “normal”.
Doctor has started scheduling a colonoscopy for me because of the mucosal thickening that showed up on the scan. What specific steps should I take here? What type of specialists can I see for this?
I really appreciate you taking the time to read this and will update everyone on any answers I get.

2024.05.14 04:21 Ilefttherightturn I thought I had terrible hemorroides, possibly ulcerative colitis, or some type of pre-cancerous inflammation. Turns out I just have ass eczema 😰

Im posting this because I didn’t know it was a thing. Knowing could have saved me a lot of discomfort. I don’t even have severe eczema or anything. I get a little around my lips and chest, occasionally eyes. It’s mostly triggered by too much dairy consumption. Apparently I also now get it around my anus..
It hurts like hell when improperly treated. Worse then chipotle shits. I’ve gotten a renewed sense of just how connected the digestive system is. I really feel like it was sending signals all the way up to my stomach, ruining my digestion by making everything confused.
Please stay vigilant Reddit. Don’t let it escalate for you too 😓😩🫢

2024.05.14 04:03 GeoffKingOfBiscuits It's being awhile but I haven't been able to put into words how much I miss my cat.

I saw someone's post about their cat having trouble and I ended up drafting this which is a real get off my chest moment about my cat so I figured I would post it somewhere.
I lost my cat of 15-16 years last October. I had him since he was about 4-6 months old. He was my only pet since living on my own. For context my grandparents were all gone before I was five, I lost my father when I was 14, and recently lost my older brother a couple years ago. I only have my Mother left. Despite that my cat has affected me more. I've moved multiple times and it's taken a minute for him to get adjusted but once he was good again he was always there for me. He helped me when my fiancé dumped me. He was there when a lost a good job and had to scrap looking for another one.
We were good for awhile until he was hesitate to eat. I didn't get him checked up often because he hated being in a carrier and in vehicles. I did make him go once that happened because he was always a food monster. I got him to the vet and had him checked out and did blood tests as well. He told me to take him to hospital to get an ultrasound to figure out if there was a digestive system issue. Ultrasound came back and it looked like cancer across his digestive system. They gave me the choice of doing surgery and saving as much good of his intestines that were left or to put him on chemo. Both of which was going to be thousands of dollars. I hate to talk about money in this but I don't have that much. They wouldn't give me an answer on what to expect on any outcome so I asked for him to be put down. I initially asked for him to be put down without me because I could barely say the words out loud but then said I should be there for him like he was always there for me.
I got there in a cold room. They brought him in half dazed from the ultrasound. He was still my cat but barely. The vet gave him the shot to stop his heart and while doing so he took a big breath and sigh. That was his last one. Vet confirmed he was gone after.
I don't know if I made the right call but I didn't want to watch him suffer anymore nor worse than he already was. If it was myself I would ask to go at some point too. He was there for me most of my life and was there for almost all of his. I want another cat for company but I'll never think of them as an replacement for him.

2024.05.14 04:03 stupidlavendar How to get my picky cat to eat more wet food?

Mochi is 1 year old. Until she turned 1, she was getting iams dry kitten food, and royal canin minced wet kitten food.
When she turned 1, I switched her to the grain-free wellness dry food and the grainfree wellness minced wet food. She seems to love the dry food, but she will only take a few bites of the wet food :(
She will only eat minced/sliced wet food, NO pâté, and she only likes poultry flavors.
I’ve noticed going grain free has been more beneficial to her digestive system and trips to the litter box, but should I sacrifice this to get a brand of wet food that’s more palatable? I really want to make sure she’s eating wet food because its better for their long term health. I would rather not do the adult royal canin wet food because it’s very expensive and not grain free.
any suggestions for my picky cat?

2024.05.14 03:49 breakfast_drunk Getting my gallbladder out on Friday

I have postpartum gallstones. I had one undiagnosed attack a few weeks after giving birth, then one 8 hour attack in February, and one 3 hour attack in March. Nothing since but the US confirmed there are still stones and so I’m getting it out on Friday because I never want to feel that way again. I’m terrified and have a 25 lb. active 10 month old so am really sad about what the next 6 weeks are going to look like. I’ve always had diarrhea and tummy issues so I’m not necessarily scared of what it’s going to do to my digestive system since I already run to the bathroom sometimes- I’m more scared for the pain and logistics of it all. I’m looking for some general advice: - any must-buys for recovery? - how will I sleep? I have a recliner, but can’t I sleep in bed? - what should I eat after? - if you’re a parent, when did you hold your baby? Were you able to be present for them at all those first couple of days? - when could you start exercising again? I walk about 60-70 minutes a day to walk my son to and from daycare - what was the worst part? - did you need help going to the bathroom?
I’m still dealing with PPA and I generally have health anxiety (plus hospital trauma because of my less than ideal labor), so appreciate any advice you can give to keep me informed of what I’m getting myself into :)

2024.05.14 03:14 Key_Carrot_6601 Elevated HRV what is this?

Elevated HRV what is this?
I had a spike of overnight HRV, and when I check online what it means, they say it’s a good thing and that my body is adapting to change and stress efficiently. That “A high average heart rate variability suggests your autonomic nervous system is working in a "rest-and-digest" mode more often than a "fight-or-flight" mode. This is good news for your heart and emotional health.”
Another article says abnormally high HRV should be avoided as it have several risks.
Should I be concerned? Now I’m planning to talk to healthcare professional.
