2024.05.16 04:50 TheForce122 I figured out who created SARS-COV-2

I figured out who created SARS-COV-2
Nathan Wolfe (Rothschild-Epstein-Maxwell asset) of DARPA/EcoHealth/Gates Foundation ran the COVID-19 creation operation with Peter Daszak of EcoHealth via the Global Virome Project (Wuhan Lab). Nathan Wolfe dedicated his book "Viral Storm" to Israeli spy Jeffrey Epstein and Bill Gates and is BFF with Israeli spy Ghislaine Maxwell.

On the 12th Sep 2019, the main database of samples and viral sequences of the Wuhan Institute of Virology went offline. Eventually every single of the 16 virus databases managed by the WIV was taken offline.
https://archive.is/i79eW
Here's former CDC director Robert Redfield under oath before the Congress on Wuhan Lab September 2019 events:
https://www.youtube.com/live/aXXWRaM-sWQ?feature=share
I will say if you go back and look, it's declassified now, and I'm sure you all have your classified briefings, but the declassified information now:
In September of 2019, three things happened in that lab, one is they deleted the sequences, that was highly irregular, researchers don't usually like to do that
Second thing they did was they changed the command and control of the lab from the civilian control to the military control. Highly unusual, and I've been involved in dual use labs when I was in the military.
And the third thing they did which I think is really telling is they let a contractor redo the ventilation system in that laboratory. So I think clearly there was strong evidence that there was a significant event that happened in that laboratory in September. It's now been declassified, you can read it. I'm sure there's more classified information around it.
Scientist Richard Ebright
The relevance of this is that SARS Cov-2, the pandemic virus, is the only virus in its entire genus of SARS-related coronaviruses that contains a fully functional cleavage site at the S1, S2 junction. And here is a proposal from the beginning of 2018 [from Fauci/Gates-funded EcoHealth Alliance] proposing explicitly to engineer that sequence at that position in chimeric lab- generated coronaviruses.
Eminent Virologist David Baltimore of CalTech
When I first saw the furin cleavage site in the viral sequence, with its arginine codons, I said to my wife it was the smoking gun for the origin of the virus. These features make a powerful challenge to the idea of a natural origin for SARS2.
Former CDC Director Robert Redfield:
I was concerned because of the presence of the furin cleavage site that we've talked about and I think it's important to understand what that cleavage site does. That cleavage site totally changes the orientation of the binding domain of COVID, so where before it could not see the ACE2 receptor which is the human receptor, it totally changes the orientation now so it has high affinity for human receptors. So that furin cleavage site bothered me, it didn't seem like it belonged there.
And then if you look at the sequences they use in those 12 nucleotides for arginine, where the arginine sequence nucleotide triplet were coded for humans. So why did it have the arginine coding for humans and not bat? It was very disconcerting to me. It looked like this virus was engineered.
It's not scientifically plausible that this virus went from a bat to humans and became one of the most infectious viruses that we have for humans.
Scientist Valentin Bruttel:
I tried to raise awareness to this for a year now. WIV use BsaI and BsmBI/Esp3I sites before to make synthetic WIV1 variants. And exactly those sites appear in a "silently introduced, perfect for synthetic assembly" pattern in SARS2, but non of its nat. relatives.
seriously, what is the chance that exactly those type IIs restriction appear or disappear through random evolution in a Banal-20-52 like virus? 5-6 precise mutations in 30000bp? about 1 in 1020! SARS2 is clearly synthetic!
Type Ils restriction sites prove a synthetic origin
Synthetic RNA viruses are assembled at the DNA level and later transcribed. 30,000 nucleotides cannot be synthesized in one go. These viruses are therefore assembled from smaller, 2- 8,000 nucleotide long pieces. Specific DNA restriction sites are often added to later reassemble the individual building blocks in the correct order. It is also technically possible to hide these interfaces (No See'em), but this was not done in the WIV.
In a 2017 paper, two very specific, particularly suitable type Ils restriction enzymes were used at the WIV. These have the advantage that they can produce different DNA overhangs (sticky ends), which are crucial for a correct assembly of the complete genome: Bsal and BsmBI.
SARS2 shows a Bsal and BsmBI restriction site pattern which is ideal for assembling synthetic viruses and to later replace the spike protein or furin cleavage site.
Bsal and BsmBI restriction sites also exist in closely related viruses (Banal20-52, RaTG13), but these are distributed in such a way that an artificial virus could never be generated using the methods established at WIV 2018/19.
The probability that the required 5 synonymous mutations, which enable a synthetic assembly of SARS2, arose purely by chance is less than 1 in 1020 or about as likely as winning the lottery jackpot 3 times in a row.

I'm slowly making all my paths the largest even though it doesn't say I need them, just to be sure. In 1945, the United States underwent Operation Paperclip which gave over 1,600 German scientists, engineers and technicians sanctuary and absolution of their crimes in exchange for the continuation of their research.
In 1953 those same individuals came up with and executed MK Ultra, an illegal human experiment that used its citizens (targeting schools, hospitals and prisons) as test subjects.
In 1954 the Plum Island was turned into a research center for diseases.
In 1975 the first documented case of Lyme disease occurred. Rumored to have escaped Plum Island.
In 2005 the DHS announced that all the work done at Plum Island would be continued in Kansas. Not just the center of the continental United States, but also home to crops seen in grocery stores all over the country.
The following is a true story.
Getting into work, one of the first things I do is check my mail. I’ve been a reporter for years and have amassed fans who like to write in and give me leads. Most of the time these leads don't amount to much (Sometimes I wonder if people send me things because of my apophenia and they are trying to get me off their scent), but every once in a while I strike gold.
I had been working at Whisper Alley Echos for a few months by the time I got my first lead. The package I got was small and when I opened it I saw a DVD that had the words “play me” written in black marker on it. Not knowing what was on it, I waited until I got home to put it on. Not just because I didnt know what was on it, but I was also busy working on a different project about how everyone in a nearby town just went missing. The official story is that they all went on vacation or went to visit a relative and decided to stay. I dont know about you, but I found that suspicious.
After getting home and shifting gears to get into the movie mood (popcorn, blinds pulled, etc…) I popped the DVD in and began watching.
There were dozens of different videos to pick from, some ranging from a minute to half an hour. Instead of picking one at random, I just played them in order. After all, all their titles were dates and times and I didnt want to miss anything that might make sense later.
The first video featured a tardigrade, at the time I didnt know what it was, but the scientist doing the voice over described it as being a microscopic animal as well as being extremely resilient. This went on for several minutes and for a moment it felt as though I was watching a nature documentary instead of something given to me by a government whistleblower.
The next few videos featured footage of the tardigrades being given something called “BB-F828” and the changes it caused.
The voiceover talked about how a tardigrade (this time he called them water bears and the two terms were interchangeable from this point on) was showing signs of several thousand generations of evolution in only a few days. Even though I know nothing about science, I could see that the thing on the television was not the same animal that was shown in the first video.
While they were never “cute”, at least they never looked like predators, but after a few videos I saw that the tardigrades were covered in what appeared to be padding. In a later video this padding would change into being chitin-like armor.
The last video was filmed two months after the water bears were given BB-F828 and in it the scientists could see them even without a microscope.
The next morning I went into work and started writing on my computer, copying notes from my small notebook. However by the time I started the second draft, Andrea, the office secretary, dropped a letter off at my desk.
It was the first time I got a letter about an “inside scoop” two days in a row.
The letter said that they were the ones who sent the DVD and if I wanted to know more I would have to go to The Rats Skeleton (a bar that used to be a speakeasy during prohibition. Because of this the place feels as though its a front for a comic book villain. The owners have leaned into this and did everything they could to reinforce this feeling with sparse lighting and everything that isn't red velvet on the walls being painted black) at a specific time.
Usually I wouldn't go meet strangers after getting an anonymous letter that tells me to come alone, but its a small town and I didn't have much going on that particular Thursday.
Parking behind the Merc (short for mercantile, where most of the grocery and general shopping is done in town), I descended the stairs and made my way to the back of the bar. There I found a woman that didnt look like she slept in days. Since no one else was in that back area I figured she must have been the person I was there to see.
“Hey, I’m Daniel West. Am I—”
“Sit” the woman said, motioning across from her. I sat down and asked her for her name but she didn’t want to answer me and when i asked for it a second time she claimed it was Jane, but there is no doubt that was not her real name.
“What made you reach out, Jane?”
“You saw the video?”
I nodded. “Yup.”
“And?”
“I have a lot of questions” I answered.
“Figured you would” Jane said. “Ask.”
“Well, first” I said, my journalistic inexperience showing as I went through my pocket notebook. “Who are you and why do you know all this?”
“Name isnt important” Jane answered. “Let me start from the beginning. We thought we were working on human survivability” Jane answered. “I thought that I was working for some company that had a government contract. That might be true, it might not be. Either way lots of money and resources have been put into this.”
“I saw the video” I answered. “What exactly was it that I was watching?”
Janes eyes were frantic as she looked at the stairs behind me. When I turned around to see what she was looking at I saw a local descending the steps and approach the bar. She only answered my question when she was convinced that the man wasn't eavesdropping, still, she spoke in whispers.
“We were working on human survivability.”
“You said that. What does that mean?”
“Exactly what it sounds like. Consider we civilize mars and the long term effects from the static radiation there. Or another planet that demands thicker bones because of increased gravity? Evolution might give us those things eventually but what if we need it now? In this generation?”
“So you made super humans?”
Jane was annoyed and slapped the table. No one was around to hear or see her but I still looked around anyways.
“We didn’t work on humans. We piggybacked off of some other countries' genetic research and made some breakthroughs of our own. When—-“
“Other countries?” I interrupted instead of letting her talk.
“Yeah” Jane said with a shrug. “Some countries aren’t tied down by the same code of ethics as ours.”
“That’s why you got a hold of me? To tell—-“
“We were working on small parts. At first individual genes, building from that success we went on to more complex organisms. Eventually, hopefully, test on humans.”
“But you never made it that far?”
“No” Jane said, taking a sip from her glass. “We tested BB-F828 on other things, building up towards human testing.”
“Okay, like what?”
Jane inhaled through her nose and looked at me as though she wasnt sure if I could be trusted. Then she sighed when she realized it was too late not to trust me, she had already went too far to turn back. “What do you think has the best chance of not only surviving a planet wide disaster, but also thrive in it?”
“Cockroaches” I answered.
Jane nodded. “Sure. Lots of people would agree with you, however that wouldn't be the best pick.”
“Oh? Then what would be?”
“Rats.”
I laughed.
“They are tough and can thrive anywhere. Even before BB-F828 they are smarter than roaches, plus rats have a complicated social hierarchy, similar to humans. Remember, I didn't just say survive. I said thrive.”
“So you tested all this on rats?”
Jane nodded. “We did.”
I waited for Jane to continue, but thanks to her staring off into space due to lack of sleep, she waited longer.
“What happened?”
Janes eyes drifted back at me, she was running on fumes. “Huh? Oh, yeah. Rats, right?” she asked while pulling a folder out from the seat next to her. She set it on the table and slid it over to me. “Here, take a peek.”
I opened it, expecting redacted pages of ‘evidence’ and while I got some of that, it was the photos that drew my attention the most. At first the photos were individual rats and a designated number they received instead of a name.
“How many rats did you experiment—” I started, but my voice trailed off when I came across a photo of the one rat with unique markings on its back now appearing to be bred for a war on pleasant dreams. Its eyes were pearly gray, teeth became tusks, its whiskers were thick and barbed. According to the scale it was on when the second photo was taken it weighed twenty nine point four kilos.
“A few hundred?” Jane answered, though it was obvious that it was just a guess. “They were paired off and put in different environments to see how they adapt.”
“Why would you pair them off?”
“I think it was to see if some would branch out and become their own species” Jane answered as she checked her watch. Seeing the time she sped up. “See, when something with BB-F828 finds itself in a desert, it might adapt to the point that it grows a hump like a camel. Or grow gills if they are in the ocean. The original purpose was for human survivability on other planets. We thought if we could discover how the adaptations work, and it could be repeated exactly the same over and over again, we could do something for humans. After all you wouldn't want anything unexpected to happen when you're in the middle of growing another set of arms or a dorsal fin, right?”Jane said. “But to do this we needed lots of subjects and all in their own environments. Each one had their own surprises, after all, evolution is random. Favors some things over others. One species can branch out to be dozens or hundreds. Thousands with enough time and environmental factors. When the tardigrades started displaying more predatory behavior we thought it was due to the change in diet and the increase in protein, but now we think its due to the rapid change. It drives them insane. All of this was surprising, but none as surprising as the ‘dirt rats’.”
“Wait. They are all insane? Also, dirt rats?” I asked, flipping the photo over to show the next one. This one revealed what I thought was a bear, but when I was about to flip it over to look at the next one I noticed its teeth. Thats when I noticed that it was a huge, muscular rat.
“Six breeding pairs, all kept in an empty pool full of dirt. They weren't given enough room to get out of the dirt, so they had to adapt to living in it. Anyways, because they are in the dirt its harder to keep track of what they are doing. Because of that, by the time we discovered that they had burrowed their way out of the facility it was too late. They were gone.”
“Gone? What do you mean?”
“Escaped,” Jane whispered. “And they are growing.”
“Growing?”
“Last I heard, they were nearly sixty feet but we honestly don't know. It's not like we can compare them to anything else.”
“Sixty feet?” I laughed. “Someone would have saw them by—”
“Underground” Jane said with a shake of her head. “They are underground. I know it's hard to believe, but how else can you explain those earthquakes in Chicago? New York?”
“Are you saying there are giant rats under those cities?”
“I am saying they aren't rats anymore. They are something else entirely. I am saying six breeding pairs might not sound like a lot, but rats reproduce so quickly it's terrifying. I am saying that they are so big and there are so many of them that they are causing those earthquakes. I am saying that due to their size they burn off lots of calories and some have evolved to hibernating.”
“Why hibernation?”
“No idea, but when they wake up they are going to be very hungry. Ravenous.”
“Any idea when that might be?” I asked.
Jane shrugged. “Some already have. We just covered it up.”
It might have been my apophenia talking, but with that statement I started seeing the bigger picture and asked Jane about the town that went missing (The story I was working on before her DVD reached me). Jane gave me the politician's answer, saying something without actually saying something, and that was enough to confirm that I was indeed on the right track.
Unfortunately Jane and I did not speak for much longer, she got a call that freaked her out and she took off. Before she left she took the folder and the pictures I was still going through. I haven't seen or heard from her since and have dropped the story about the disappearances that have secretly been plaguing our country.

2024.05.16 03:31 Engineering_Geek Boomers OP! Learn how to get job like me now!

About me, Job compensation + benefits, CoL for reference

About me:
Compensation / Benefits:
Cost of Living:

Listen to the goddamn Boomers / Gen X folks here

As much as the older folks are 'behind the times', you need to remember who is still disproportionately in charge of companies and how they are structured, even in the tech sector. Hell, I had my dad (the BOOMIEST BOOMER I know) help me out.
I went to my 7th job fair after graduation about 2-3 months ago (Feb 2024) and my dad came with me as moral support. Just as usual with most job fairs, there isn't anyone there actively recruiting for engineering / IT / software roles because of the current market. BUT, my dad was having a 'fun' chat with the CTO of a random medium sized company and they both hit it off HARD. Both of them were born in the same part of India, went to the same temples there, and they just kept on chatting. Next thing I know, this same CTO came to me and asked if I was competent at engineering and he'd like to interview me on the spot, but sadly his company had no open software roles. I agreed.
I shit you not, this test was this simple and BLEW it:
  1. What is Ohms law? (I got this right)
  2. What is an inverter? (I got this wrong)
  3. What is a diode? What is it's symbol? (I got this right)
  4. Explain what an LED is and what it's symbol is. (I got this half right)
  5. What is the purpose of a rectifier? (I got this wrong)
  6. Questions about embedded C/C++ (I don't even know the language well T.T)
Thing is, the interviewer was really interested NOT in my capabilities or even my previous experiences. He was intrigued at just how many questions I asked and how I even asked some questions he didn't know the answer to, and how quickly I learnt the information. He told me to come to the company's HQ because he wanted me to meet the R&D manager.
1 week later
I met the R&D guy. Something I noticed is that this whole department was filled with dinosaurs. Not a single human within a 1 km radius appeared below the age of 50 outside of the technicians / trades folk. These dinos didn't even know how to post a job online without the help of HR (I'm sure everyone here knows how HR writes posts and filters applications). Just after half an hour of talking and the R&D manager apparently loved me because "this kid knows jack shit but he's a sponge, he'll learn faster than anyone else we got", which is apparently what R&D is actively looking for in fresh recruits.
Then bam-bam-boom, I got my position starting at this pay, with a guaranteed pay boost after onboarding + training is finished in 6 months, while I bombed every interview question / test. My position is as an R&D Engineer specializing in Embedded Design / Programming. Hell, one of my first projects is to tinker around and try to create and integrate a custom trained AI model with Altium to see if the autopathing system and autolayouts can be made better and human centric if possible.
I looked into this company's history and they have an average employee tenure of 10+ years without a single person ever being laid off ever since 1985. People wouldn't actively stay at a company that long without job hopping if the pay wasn't satisfactory or if it was toxic. Plus it was written into my contract that base pay is tied to inflation!
What are the lessons here?
  1. Don't quit. It's a shitty market, but a 0.01% chance is INFINITELY better than 0% if you stop trying.
  2. Have a boomer / gen x person help you network and connect you with other boomer / gen x people. Boomers and Gen X folks hire more based on word of mouth and interactions than younger folk like me who focus on the 'skills' part of the resume.
  3. Become a sponge. The more absorbent you are and the more questions you ask, the more the senior engineers will love you and actively want you on their team.
  4. Target industries that are filled with older folks in white collar positions (assuming you want white collar positions). Here are some examples:
    1. Metallurgy (filled with trades people and old engineers, they are actively looking for fresh blood in white collar areas).
    2. Agriculture (mechanization).
    3. Carpentry (same as metallurgy above).
    4. Welding companies (they have active R&D for building welding machines, just like metallurgy and carpentry sectors).
  5. Learn, learn, and learn. Especially for the first job you get, especially so if you don't have internships / co-op experience, people will look for your ability to learn. How fast can you learn everything we teach you?
  6. HR seldom knows what the company wants / needs when they post job listings. Getting out there and talking to NOT the recruiters but the engineers will give you that edge. Bonus points if you also do bullet point 2.
  7. Be ambitious with your future goals. Not just pretend; you'll run out of steam. If you are ambitious despite your current situation, people will see it and engineers / senior developers will like it. That was also one of the things a senior there liked about me and explicitly said "you're ambitions behind closed doors, I love it, you'll go far and I hope you take the company there with you; more profits for all of us!".
  8. Nepotism isn't the right word for how many here think of the job situation, it's just much MUCH more networking than previously thought. This has it's own issues like for those from disadvantaged / foreign backgrounds, but this world isn't fair, and that won't change reality.
Check my post history to know I was literally in your position just a few months ago. I hope this post helps people.

2024.05.16 03:25 SterlingDex Butterfly and Jester Fakemon

Butterfly and Jester Fakemon
The butterfly is a gen 2 for my setting and the jester is a redesign of my gen 1. Wanted the sleeve design to slowly turn into the actual claw arms instead of having that as the default and went with a slightly cuter design for the first two stages.
The butterfly is slightly based on a game character. It's whole premise is that it can see glimpses of the future and cries over the outcomes it can't stop. In its last Evo it basically has come to terms with the inevitable futures and secludes itself to avoid using its future sight in regards to a companion and possibly seeing a bad future. Possibly will make it have some connection to royalty wanting them for it's beauty and abilities.
The jester evo line are just silly lil guys slowly turning more sinister. Probably will redesign the last evolution again since I'm not super satisfied (plus I was mostly going off memory since I can't remember where I put the og drawing).

2024.05.16 03:21 Last_Limit_Of_Endor [M, 23] Chronic testicular discomfort and numbness, PT progress stalled? look for advice for what’s next.

Continued stuff from this post: https://www.reddit.com/menshealth/s/2ZaNmhUEjO
Hello. I'm a 23 year old male student who’s on the cusp of graduation. However, for almost the entire semester I've had testicular discomfort after having an injury to the groin. This started in February when I went to the urologist and was given an ultrasound and physical examination. Both of those showed no issues. During this time, pain was a 0-3 out of ten, with the constant feeling that things were loose and free roaming inside the sac, like holding egg yolks in your hand. The urologist then said it was probably just pelvic floor issues and to see a Physical Therapist.
I started physical therapy in March. I did see some slow improvement that had me optimistic, but I ended up causing more discomfort and more pain when I tried to lay on my side a couple of times. This, plus some accidental hits when trying to put clothes on in the morning, eventually led to a near constant 7 out of 10, even with medication like Tylenol and Advil. I was also put on Lexapro due to the anxiety it was causing. My follow-up appointments in March and April with the urologist all didn't show anything that concerned the urologist.
The only thing that really made that go away was some neck and back discomfort that led to numbness in the groin. However, that numbness has been slowly increasing over time, especially if there is a crack or pop in my lower back or my neck. I once again had some improvement, but for the past two weeks, things seem to have stalled or even reversed. I have very limited movement when walking because the testicles keep getting pulled to the roof of the pelvic area or to where the legs and pelvis meet and then they keep trying to get pulled further. This has led to occasional spasms down there, as well as getting them squished between the thighs, feeling them getting squished while shrinking, as well as frequent popping feelings on the testis and on the chord. It means that having to go to the restroom may make it worse but I'm not sure. Physical therapy exercises either trigger this reaction or only temporarily relax things for at most a few minutes. Hot baths and showers don’t cause any relaxation down there. They also don't relax all the way down like they used to.
My parents, who I’ll be living with while I try to find my own place, think that this is all or partly psychosomatic at this point. And while I am willing to look into it, I worry that the most recent evolution of the discomfort is causing something serious to the area. I really don't know what to do for my care at this point.

2024.05.16 03:20 Last_Limit_Of_Endor [M, 23] Chronic testicular discomfort and numbness, PT progress stalled? look for advice for what’s next.

Hello. I'm a 23 year old male student who’s on the cusp of graduation. However, for almost the entire semester I've had testicular discomfort after having an injury to the groin. I have posted about this issue before here but it still continues.

2024.05.16 03:02 NoBuy8212 Do you think it could be argued that DNA’s evolutionary potential indicates a designer?

I know there’s often a conflation of evolution and atheism, but do think it’s reasonable to think that DNA’s evolutionarily potential can somewhat point to a designer? I know the twenty aminos within us are just a small group (I’ve read there about 500), but even so once it’s contained within a cell, it’s extraordinary what has been produced from those twenty.
So, do you think the potentiality of evolution within DNA is anything to go by?
Thanks all!
UPDATE: There’s been a resounding NO. Thanks all. Let the post die away now please.

2024.05.16 02:42 BronyRick Random Rant Rensday part 2

I forgot there was this whole other thing I was going to include that I forgot, my Roseanne conspiracy.
I don't know if maybe solving puzzle conspiracies is like the next step in human brain evolution or if i'm just a loser with too much free time. I only have like 3 faint memories of kindergarten, 1 of them is a very short conversation my teacher having with my mom about how i liked puzzles.
Anyways, when Roseanne Barr got cancelled for tweeting that shit about Valerie Jarrett, something just didn't seem right. Celebrities were already getting cancelled left and right, but this one seemed like way overboard. Absolutely nobody was talking about it, I didn't see a single thing where any regular person was talking about it or gave a shit, but the media was trying so hard to shove it down everyone's throats saying that EVERYONE was talking about it and making a HUGE deal about it. At first it just seemed like typical thirsty ass social media brands trying to be e-relevant.
But looking at it years later I noticed a few things. In the rebooted 10th season of Roseanne, her character developed a drug addiction problem throughout the season, and then it ended on a cliff hanger where she could possibly die. Then when they brought the series back under the new name The Conners, they try to play it off like they only killed her character off because of the scandal, not because the seeds were already planted. And then I realized her tweet that got her in trouble was actually posted literally just days after the final episode of Roseanne season 10 aired. The timing was so obvious, this was all just a huge publicity stunt to bring attention and hype to the new spinoff series where they continue on without her.
That's basically all there is to that one. I have a few others I want to eventually delve into more, such as Tupac is alive and most likely living in South America, cause after he faked his death its unlikely he would have gotten on a plane, and since he was in Vegas when he supposedly died, its only about a 7 hour drive to Mexico from there. Another conspiracy I have is that Michael Jackson was totally in on the scandals against him, the whole thing was fabricated just to sell magazines, everyone involved made insane amounts of money off that bullshit. Also the 2 or 3 people who down vote all my posts aren't as cool as they think they are, they always down vote within 15 minutes of me posting anything, its like get a life fool, you ain't foolin nobody, we know this is what you do on friday nights, go play outside.

2024.05.16 01:48 am_the_great My birthday this year was genuinely awesome lol

My birthday was on Sunday, I went to work and then went and got a new tattoo (I love it so much lol.) That was pretty much it for the actual day but on Monday I met up with my friends (M and his girlfriend N) at a restaurant for my birthday. Immediately I saw M reused the bag that I used for his birthday (I thought it was funny and I will definitely be using it for N's birthday now lol.)
Then we go in, sit down and order. Then they start asking me about my gifts and when I'll open them so I grabbed a stuffed dino out the bag. Immediately noticed it was heavy and I thought it was weighted but they told me it was a jar and I could open it. So I did. It was weed lmfao, I opened a jar of weed in the middle of a busy restaurant lol. Panicked and put the lid back on as fast as I could while I was laughing about the no warning lol.
We get our food, we're talking and laughing and shit, no other oopsies so far until it was cake time. They brought in a cheesecake for me cause yummy. M goes to slice it, he's doing great, then he tries to put the slice on a plate and drops it on the table. N and M both get it on the plate and N hands it to me straight face and says happy birthday. M and I died laughing. I thought it was fucking hilarious, I was crying cause I was laughing so hard. Just the straight face happy birthday after dropping it on the table was so funny to me.
But yeah honestly that was pretty much it, simple but I think that's the hardest I've laughed in a while and this has definitely been my best birthday by far lol

2024.05.16 01:33 Trillion5 FOURTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE MYSTERY OF TABBY'S STAR (Update 2024 May 16)

Four years have passed since publishing on Kindle The Mystery of Tabby's Star: The Migrator Model (2020 June 27), which presented the template and proposed symmetries therein. On the first anniversary I updated the book with the new sector boundary datelines (predicated on the 2017 Aug 24 dateline, alongside the previous fulcrum dateline on Aug 21). In 2022, I updated the book for the second anniversary - presenting the Skara-Angkor Signifier. Since then the Migrator Model has come a long way: Tom Johnson's quadratic correlation, the dip signifiers, the fulcrum cross method, the π findings etc.
Because so much fresh content was being generated, I neglected updating the book since and indeed going forward it will remain just the 'second anniversary edition' as the new material will be in my next book: The Siren of Tabby's Star: The Fulcrum Cross. Back in 2020 my work was very simple and I was unclear on what exactly I was finding - The Mystery of Tabby's Star is a bit of relic now and has not sold well - perhaps fortunately given the amateurishness of the work. However, when I put out my last word on the star (hopefully a more professional read), rather than un-publishing The Mystery of Tabby's Star, I'll leave it as a kind of reference to gauge the evolution of the Migrator Model - it does after all present the 'template' and the Skara-Angkor Signifier, both of which have returned to the foreground in my recent work.

2024.05.16 01:18 losingmymyndh when people who are religious, any religion, say god created all this and it is powerful and shows god is powerful, can you please refute how i refute this definition

so i hear from christians that god created all the universe and nature and animals. it is wonderfully built and constructed so therefore henceforth it is the work of god.
my refusal is that that makes no sense, because anything that is more powerful us will impress us. think michael jordan jumping higher than the rest of the general population. if god is so powerful to create the universe, he might not be all that powerful. another being might have done a better job. for instance it's like dogs. dogs can't talk and go to learning schools. they can't read. they can't add or subtract. so dogs might think humans are very smart and magical. a human can light up the room or make a car go to a certain destination. humans are reliable, and me as a dog depend on that human. but humans aren't that smart. there are a lot of humans that forget simple math ideas like pythagorean theorem and soc cah toa sock it to you. they only learn math because they have to and they don't understand it. so if humans are magical to dogs, and michael jordan is magical to humans there really is no limit. what's to say god is so amazing when it can all be better or worse on an order of 10 higher or lower exponentially. what really is to say god is that great. it's just our own interpretation.
my second refusal, is that animal and nature are only beautiful to us because of evolution. in evolution those who like something or hate something give children those same traits. if we all like blueberries because they help us survive, then we eat it because our parents ate it. those who've ate it (eaten it) will give rise to children who also have the same traits. on a side note: if it was all free will, how come our free will has preferences the same as our parents and relatives. that's a little concerning. but back to the point of evolution. if we like water and the sea, it is because it's conducive to continuing the species. humans that like water the sea the nature the mountains end up venturing those areas and pursuing things.
it's not like water or mountains are beautiful. it's just how we interpret it through the course of evolution. if you check up on animals and what they prefer, it may be different from what humans prefer. because of the advantage it brings to humans may not be the same advantage it brings to other animals. take cats for instance, they don't like water. or the sea and ocean isn't interesting to a cat. therefore it's the interpretation of the sea and water - that you have - and not that water or the sea is intrinsically good or bad.
so please refute what i have to say. i'm just thinking a lot of times and i am not always right.

2024.05.16 01:03 TheLadyFlash Spencer Reid fandom

Spencer Reid fandom
First off, I know I'm going to get a lot of push back on this. Listen I adore his character and I think Matthew Gray Gubler is a really fantastic actor. I really enjoy the fandom with the show and met some cool people through it. Waiting for the new season is really fun with social media etc. The official accounts are so funny, engaging lol. But I just find some of the Spencer fans really aggressive. Almost on every posts there are tons yelling for his return and even saying the show isn't right without him (and some hyper sexual content). Which I feel like is a disservice to the remaining cast who are doing such a fantastic job in Evolution. As much as I'd mostly love to see him return it would feel like the Spencer Minds show in a way with the huge reaction it would get. I dunno I'm probably going to get hate. But shrug.

2024.05.16 00:58 Valetudinarian [Requesting Advice] Pivoting toward a career in evolutionary biology

Hello /evolution.
Some context: I am a wet-lab biochemist by training, with only a bachelors degree. I've been working in this field for about five years and decided, after a lot of soul-searching, that my primary interest is evolution and its effects - specifically the formal (or mathematical) representations and philosophical entailments of the subject. Articles and books by the likes of Lewontin, Mayr, Simpson, Price, Gould, Sober and many more to count really gripped my interest, and have led me to consider the possibility of a career change. The question really is how this can be done.
I am sure many professionals here (I would say: rightfully) judge that the average mathematical and even computational skills of a regular lab-oriented undergraduate are not on par with the skills required to perform deep theoretical research. I am not too keen on going back to school to get the requisites (for financial reasons) but I am not averse to it. I was wondering instead if there are opportunities for internships or beginneentry positions where I can acquire these skills during the course of work (even empirical work, perhaps data-collection, where I can get a sense of experimental design), or if there are any other conceivable ways to break into the discipline.
Otherwise, if anyone has any resources they would like to share (books, articles, online materials, or even to suggest a curriculum for self-study), please do. I am currently nearing the end of self-studying multivariable calculus, and after revisiting linear algebra and lopping up analysis I believe I will have to touch on the theory of ODEs/PDEs and branch out from there. I don't have appreciable programming skills either, but I am confident that I can learn. I realize what I've learnt is far from ideal, but I'll take all serious suggestions on future direction seriously.
Any suggestions are welcome, thank you all in advance.

2024.05.16 00:43 Canadian-Sea-Gypsy X-Men: Evolution… 24 years too late.

Thanks to u/pillow-socks, I had the pleasure of watching X-Men: Evolution…24 years too late. Here are some random thoughts. If only to spark some discourse.
Although I prefer X-Men TAS+’97, I can appreciate why this show is loved. It’s a fresh and well engineered take on the X-Men mythos. It felt like they wanted to go in their own direction but where held back in for some reason. Perhaps a bit too insecure to move away from the Fox franchise. Perhaps executive meddling to promote brand synergy, I don’t know.
On that note, Wolverine’s costume change to the ultimate style was weak. Felt unnecessary.
Some of the long plays were surprisingly good. I didn’t think it was a coincidence that the principal was named Kelly but when he started the mayoral campaign and commenced a life in politics, it made sense. Chef’s kiss.
Deciding to show case the X-Men and Brotherhood was a good call. It allowed for some interesting story telling and rival dynamic. It also allowed for characters to develop outside there designated alignments and walk the line. Avalanche and Rogue are excellent examples and added a nice change from some two dimensional characters.
I wasn’t sure about them going to a random high school when they were literally living in the institute (school for gifted youngsters) but it makes a lot of sense in as the show developed. The nuances of learning in high school vice learning to control their powers and why the two locations was lost on me at first. Obviously I was biased by the traditional take on the school. However, it was an excellent way to show case discrimination. It felt more personal than just the typical indiscriminate prejudice. When the community turned on mutants it felt real.
Jean Gray’s character was surprisingly the best written version I’ve seen to date. She wasn’t a ‘perfect trophy’ girl but it was clear you could easily fall for her. She had personality, something I think is absent sometimes in depictions of her. There is a tendency to make her an object of affection, instead of a person. It generally impressed me throughout. I love the part where Scott calls her holier than thou commentary out in one of the early episodes. A great and humerus line.
Spyke was a walking cliché and boring until he joined the morlocks. Even his name was misspelled to be edgy. His entire character felt contrived and forced. Give him a 90s catch phrase and the circle is complete. I’m so glad the character then blossomed when he left the team with purpose. It was the right call. It’s a shame it happens so late. I wanted more.
Kitty… or was it 90s TAS Jubilee? They feel like the same annoying teenage trope. I’m sorry super fans, she was my least favourite character.
Interesting move to make Wolverine and Storm the elders. In my opinion Wolverine was used well and wasn’t over exposed. Although the final episodes felt like he was taking over when assaulting the pyramids. It felt like a missed opportunity for Cyclops to step up and see some fruition to his character arc. Overall, I appreciated the show’s dedication to maintaining an ensemble cast but it dropped off a bit towards the end.
Juggernaut’s origin and deviation from source material was just lazy. Literally an unnecessary throw away line for his limited screen time.
Scott and Jean’s relationship built organically and was well done. The absence of the Logan triangle was refreshing, as was Rouge’s crush on Scott. Although it was tragic, felt grounded, natural and not forced. It’s a shame we didn’t get enough time to see Rogue and Gambit grow. At least they got a moment.
Overall the seasons pace felt strange and off at times. For the most part it moved well and had meaningful growth, rarely maintains a status quo for the sake of it. Sometimes they would just have random filler episodes that distracted from the larger plot. Season 4 comes to mind as Apocalypse was very present and they just kind of ignored it for a few episodes. In later episodes they kind of implied they were at an impasse but if I wasn’t watching the episodes in order and instead on TV, I would have thought I missed some.
Loved that they found a way to put all the original X-Men in, not just an episode but, a mission together. Awesome.
I’m off to start Wolverine and the X-Men. Spoiler alert: watched the first episode and not impressed that they took the worst parts of the Fox movies and used that as a weak premise to make Wolverine the focal point. I know… I’ll give it a chance. On a positive note I like the character designs. Wolverine’s costume is great. I love the cowl.

2024.05.16 00:39 Sufficient-Fanny23 Conflicted about the Maximoffs being/not being Magneto's kids

Despite Quicksilver being a member of X-Factor,of the X-Men in the alternate timeline movies and him and his sister being part of the Brotherhood/Genosha in Evolution and Wolverine and the X-Men, neither Maximoff really appear to have any ties to the X-Men.
I reread House of M which from what I understood with Wanda saying that they're freaks makes it seems like she hates herself for being a mutant and her father but it's seems to come from nowhere? I haven't read or seen anything were Wanda refers to her mutant status in a negative light and suddenly there's all this animosity and oh she forgot she had kids? I can understand her strained relationship to Magneto but for the most part she seems to be the more forgiving towards him compared to Pietro.
Following the Children Crusade where Wiccan and Speed are confirmed to be Wanda's kids it seemed like there was going to be some kind of redemption arc for Wanda and a better relationship between Magneto and Wanda. However after Uncanny Avengers and AXIS, and with all the numerous retcons to her powers over since her debut and her nonexistent tied to mutants I honestly don't know how to feel about Wanda not being Magneto's daughter when there wasn't really a relationship there when it was canon.
And I get that mutants weren't always tied to the X-Men but since Krakoa there seems to be a push to include all mutants in the ORCHIS conflict as well as other super teams.
I just don't see retconning Wanda back to being Magneto daughter as adding anything to either character, they barely had a relationship before the retcon.
With Pietro, if he's not the son of Magneto what is he?
In regards to Wiccan and Speed, there's barely a relationship with their mother after Children's Crusade so I doubt anything would change if suddenly they're mutants and grandsons of Magneto
I wouldn't be against Marvel changing them back to his kidsbut I just don't feel the same hate that everyone else seems to share for the retcon.
NO HATE TO ANYONE THAT WANTS THEM TO BE MAGNETO'S KIDS, I DON'T think changing the retcon will lead take the family in any new or interesting directions
