Week 20: showstopper. My friends birthday cake. Lemon cake, blueberry pie filling, and earl gray tea buttercream.
She's getting this cake soon. I don't know why I'm so anxious about it. I won't know if she hates it it's a gift so I won't feel bad for her wasting money in it lol. My only directions were no nuts. For some reason my brain is telling me I should definitely have gone with triple chocolate. šŸ¤· Anyway it'll stop the show if she loves it, it'll also stop the show if she hates it. šŸ˜‚

2024.05.14 23:04 TheAlphaKiller17 Jeni's Brambleberry Crisp--8.5/10

Love this! This flavor tastes exactly like summer. It's that big, warm berry pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream you eat at the end of a Fourth of July picnic and get blue mush all over your face. And I mean it tastes so exactly like that I'm mildly concerned I may pull a Violet Beauregard upon finishing the tub. One thing I marveled at while tasting this was that the cobbler taste was totally separate from the ice cream taste. I mean if I took one bite of the vanilla, it only tastes like vanilla z but if I ate a purple part, it was pie. Incredible flavor experience for this mouth. I basically got to choose my crisp::ice cream ratio with every bite.
I was pleasantly surprised surprised by the jam because I was afraid it would be too much like, well, jam, but it's definitely more of a compote. I almost wish they wouldn't use "jam" on the label. However, Dean and Deluca used to make a blueberry jam that reminds me very much of this flavor, so maybe, just maybe, the experts know what they're doing.
The streusel was not very cinnamony, and that was a good thing because it didn't need to be. Too much cinnamon would have overpowered the delicious fruit taste, and Jeni's kept the blend intact. My one suggestion about the oats would be to add a little bit of cinnamon applesauce to them while they're being prepared, because that'd enhance the moisture and flavor without dramatically altering it. The streusel was good but the texture of the oats was a little gelatinous while simultaneously being dry. Like if beef jerky was left by a hot shower.
Overall, love, and definitely will be buying this again!

2024.05.14 22:53 uninvitedthirteenth Travel Diary: Amsterdam, May 2-May 8

Travel Diary: I make $195,000 and spent $2149.75 (+49k points) while on a trip to Amsterdam
Section One: Bio
Age: 40
Occupation: Lawyer
Hometown: DC
Number of PTO days and how you accrue them: I earn 6 hours of annual leave every two weeks (19 days total a year), and used 36 hours for this trip
Section Two: Assets + Debt
Not super comfortable with a very detailed financial picture, but my NW is ~$750k. No SO.
Section Three: Income
Main Job Monthly Take Home: After all deductions and contributions to savings, my monthly take home is ~$6200
Section Four: Travel Expenses/Diary
Trip planning - My (40F) best friend from college (39F) and I decide to go to Amsterdam on a birthday trip. We both turn 40 in 2024, and we decide to go in May because it's in between our birthdays and because it'll be tulip season in Amsterdam! Neither of us have been. We also haven't travelled together before, despite being friends for 20(!) years, so we are a little apprehensive, although we have spent a lot of time together over the past few years. We decide on a 6 day trip. For purposes of this diary I'm going to list my half of the expenses for things we split. Costs are in US dollars, despite paying using Euros. As a side note, I also am a little over one year post-Gastric Bypass, which has a limited effect on my diet (I try to eat low carb, but you'll see that I mostly fail at this on this trip!).
Pre-trip expenses: $1193.15 total
Flight: $255 + 49k points (from Capital One)
Lodging: $1425.91 (split) - $713
Rijksmuseum: $40.28
Anne Frank House: $24.95
Keukenhof Gardens plus bus ticket: $36.20
Red Light District Tour: $50.52
Day trip to windmills tour: $43.20
Snacks: $30ish
Day 1 (Total $21.17)
Our flight is at 5:30pm, so we planned to be at the airport by 3:30pm, which actually turned out to be 4pm. Uber ($21.17). After checking bags (included in flight price) and getting through security we made it to our gate right as boarding was about to start. No time for food or drinks.
On the plane I eat a snack of roasted chickpeas before dinner, which was chicken cacciatore with mashed potatoes, bread, cheesecake, cheese, and a salad. And two glasses of wine. I save the cheesecake and cheese for later.
My friend and I watch a movie (Poor Things) and then try to sleep. I am reading A Fault In Our Stars, because Amsterdam. I try unsuccessfully to sleep for awhile and then go back to reading. At some point i eat the cheese and cheesecake. Breakfast is a cheese roll, which i eat a couple bites of (OMG does all of Amsterdam have this much cheese?? - spoiler alertā€¦ yes it does!). I wish I had slept more.
Day 2 - Even though it feels like a continuation of day one. (Total $207.02)
7am - We land at 7 and then grab the bags and go through customs. Easy peasy. We are exhausted so we grab coffee at the airport before figuring out public transit ($5.10). I take out 60 euro for cash in case we need it ($65). We buy a train ticket to the central station ($6.33) and when we get there we buy a four day unlimited public transit pass ($28.44) so that we donā€™t have to worry about it later.
We get to the hotel at around 9am. They tell us it will cost $50 to check in early, which we opt not to do. Instead we go get breakfast and coffee at a cafe nearby ($21.20). The hotel tells us that our prepaid amount did not include city taxes, which is another $183 (my half $91.88).
11:30am - Back at the room we decide to rest for 90 minutes. Enough to catch up on sleep but not to waste the day and get more jet-lagged. After a rest we decide to walk around and get a feel for the neighborhood and do some shopping. We find a bookstore, and I buy a copy of my favorite book from high school, Tess of the Dā€™Ubervilles with a beautiful cover and gold edges ($21.46). We also buy fries with truffle, mayo, and Parmesan at a fry shop ($3.32) (thatā€™s all they have and they are delicious!). We also stop a grocery store and pick up a few things including yogurt, cheese, salami, apples, and an energy drink ($13.19). We have some early days planned and nothing seems to open early. Itā€™s very cold and rainy and semi unpleasant.
6pm - We drop stuff off, bundle up, and head off to dinner and a tour of the red light district. We try to find a place that serves Snert, a Dutch pea soup, but strike out. We end up at an Asian place instead. I get chicken satay and a beer and my friend gets Indonesian soup and wine ($16.10). Our red light tour is great, but we are exhausted after and head straight home to bed. 22k steps total
Day 3 (Total $87.24)
7:30am - We have an early day planned, and have to be on a bus near the central station by 8am. I eat a yogurt and energy drink (from grocery store) for breakfast and we take public transit (covered on unlimited card) to the station. We find the right bus and head off!
First stop is the windmills, which are beautiful! I am happy we get there early because we basically have the place to ourselves. My friend gets a coffee and we both use the restroom ($1.08!). Then we head to Edam and do a walking tour there. Next stop is a clog/cheese place, which feels very touristy but they do feed us lots of cheese. I buy a cheese slicer as a souvenir ($10.81). Next stop is another small town where we have lunch at a cafe. We basically pick one at random. My friend gets fried fish and I get a ham and cheese panini and a beer ($17.30). Final stop is an artificial island town called Maarken. We do another walking tour.
2:30pm - we arrive back in Amsterdam and get let off north of the water. I grab a coffee ($3.76). We go up to the Adam lookout and take a ride on the swing off the side of the building ($25.95 for swing plus ticket to lookout). We also grab a drink and sit on a pillow watching the city from very high up, which is lovely ($6.63). On the way out I buy a reusable water bottle at the gift shop ($4.87).
After the lookout we take the tram over to a brewery at a windmill that was recommended to us by several people (including here on Reddit!). Cost was covered by the transit pass. We buy bitterballen and a small bottle of Genever (local whiskey) (paid by my friend) and a flight of beer ($16.84). We are a bit tipsy but enjoying the lovely weather.
6:30 - On the way back toward the hotel the weather turns and it starts raining so we dip into a pub for dinner. I have a burger ($16.12). We are there at 8pm, which is momentous because itā€™s a day of remembrance and the whole bar is silent for two minutes. It was very interesting to be there during this time.
We are exhausted by this point and go home to bed. 19k steps total for the day.
Day 4 (Total $104.33)
7am - Another early day as we have to be on a bus at 7:30 to go to Keukenhof for the tulips! (paid in advance). We wanted to take the first bus out there because we heard the crowds were bad. I eat a yogurt for breakfast and take a 5 hour energy (no cafes open this early!). We try to take public transit to the train station but didnā€™t realize that the trains do not run that early on a Sunday so we grab an Uber instead ($12.20). We tell the Uber driver weā€™re trying to catch a bus so he makes sure we find the right place and we pull up just as the bus is loading. Phew!
8:00am - we spend 5 hours in the gardens and take literally hundreds of pictures. We are glad that we get there early as the first few hours are lovely and empty. We get a coffee ($4.60) and lunch later ($25.36). By 1pm itā€™s getting very crowded so we start heading out. We grab the bus back to the train station.
2:30pm - We decide to go by the Rijksmuseum although not in it because we planning that later. Instead we stop off at the Van Gogh/Rijks gift shop thatā€™s nearby. I get a couple souvenirs, including a foldable bag and a magnet ($20.44). I also get a coffee ($3.64) and my friend gets bubble tea. We sit on the hill on museumplein and people watch. After awhile it starts to get hot (we had dressed for the early morning) so we head back to the hotel to change.
5pm - we decide we are having an evening of drinking. We first grab a drink in the hotel bar because we get free vouchers for each day we choose not to have the room cleaned. Then we have dinner at an udon place, which is delicious. We have tempura, chicken katsu, and dumplings ($15.94). Then because itā€™s cinco de mayo we decide to have margaritas at the Mexican place near the hotel ($15.15)! Not Dutch but itā€™s fun. We head down the street to another bar and have a Genever cocktail called an Amsterdam mule ($9.91). I am happy with our choice of hotel because there are so many places in our neighborhood. On the way home we pass a fresh stroopwaffle place and must get in line for one ($5.92).
By then we are exhausted and head to bed. 21k steps total for the day.
Day 5 (Total $80.44)
8am - We have a slightly less early day but have tickets to the Anne Frank house at 9:15. (paid in advance). I eat some yogurt and cheese in the room before we leave. Itā€™s walkable so we decide to head out early and grab coffee on the way. ($3.19). The house is sombering but Iā€™m glad we did it.
11am - After the Anne Frank house we walk to the nearby cheese museum. We sample lots of cheese. I buy one cheese to take home ($15.18). We want to walk to a used bookstore, but decide to have lunch at a cafe on the way. We pick one at random. We split chicken tenders and a goat cheese and apple sandwich and I have a beer. ($15.14). The sandwich is one of the best things we have eaten. We spend about an hour in the bookstore and my friend buys one book.
3pm - We realize we are by the monkey bar (one of the oldest bars in Amsterdam that they told us about on our red light district tour). We stop in for a drink. Ok two drinks. ($12.50). We take the metro back towards the hotel and stop in at a tile store in our neighborhood so I can buy a magnet. I buy magnets from all my trips, but I like non-touristy handmade ones if I can find them, Van Gogh magnet from yesterday aside. I buy one with a windmill on it. ($14). We also stop at the grocery store for more yogurt ($3.05) and for Dutch apple pie at the cafe across the street from the hotel ($4). We get back to the hotel and have another free drink and then rest before dinner.
8pm - We go out to a Dutch restaurant for dinner. I am not super hungry from pie so I just get the snert (pea soup). My friend gets sauerkraut and potatoes. Sorry, but I thought it was pretty bland food in general. ($13.38).
We head home. Itā€™s a lighter day, only 14k steps today.
Day 6 (Total $194.47)
8am - Today is our last full day in Amsterdam. We have planned to spend the day at the Rijksmuseum. We want to get there right when it opens for crowd reasons. We had bought ā€œfriend of the museumā€ passes ahead of time so that we can skip the line. I have a yogurt for breakfast and we walk to a cafe near the museum for coffee and breakfast for my friend ($3.78). The man at the cafe is very nice and we love sitting outside in the sunshine. Itā€™s going to be a warm day!
We spend about 5 hours at the museum. We rush to see the Van goghs and the main gallery where the Rembrandts are, including The Night Watch, which is probably one of the most famous paintings in there. We had downloaded the app so we shared a pair of earbuds and listened to audio notes about many of the works (they have a number you can enter in). We take a break outside for coffee ($7.29 - i pay) and skip the line again. Totally worth it for the more expensive ticket. Around 2 we are hungry and have seen almost everything. We stop in the gift shop and I buy a ring and earring set. ($64.76). I forget to use my 10% discount for being a friend. :( I wanted a necklace too but didnā€™t like the ones they had there so Iā€™ll try to find a matching piece at home.
2pm - My friend has been trying to get herring for the whole trip so we make it a point to do that. The first place is a bust so we find a little stand that sells it a 15 min walk away. We are determined, so we head there. I donā€™t eat fish so I get a shawarma on the way, which is terrible (cash). I throw half away. After lunch we get ice cream. I get coffee ice cream, and it makes up for the bad shawarma ($6). We also stop at the peanut butter store, which is allegedly the first in the world, and I pick up 3 small jars for my mom for Motherā€™s Day ($8.11). We also stop at a thrift store and i buy a dress ($21.59). At some point this day (I think), we also stop at another bookstore, and I buy a few things including a card, a couple gifts, and a book ($39.71).
6pm - After resting a bit, we get two more free drinks at the hotel and then head out to dinner. We pick another Asian place. I get an aperol spritz at dinner and we share appetizers (satay, spring rolls, and bitterballen). We also get coconut ice cream with mango sauce for dessert. All yum! ($33.03).
We get one final drink at a local bar near the hotel ($10.20) and Iā€™m again grateful for our choice of neighborhood. Today has been all walking because our 4-day metro pass ran out yesterday. Total steps 13k.
Day 7 (Total $36.93)
8am - this our last day. The plane was supposed to leave at 1:30pm, but we get a message that itā€™s delayed an hour. We decide to have a leisurely breakfast. We pick a place thatā€™s at a hotel near our hotel. I get an egg sandwich and my friend gets French toast. We both get coffee. ($15.27)
We decide to leave for the airport around 11. We walk to the central station about 20 min away, and I buy wooden tulips for my mom on the way (cash). We buy train tickets (cash) and get right on a train. We are proud of ourselves for our navigation on this trip.
12pm - we get to the airport and through security. We head to a lounge but thereā€™s a line. We are 40th in line based on our QR code place. We decide not to wait and sit down for lunch at a random bar. I get a sausage and a beer ($20.66). We walk around some and get another message that our flight is delayed more, to 4pm. Itā€™s finally our turn to get into the lounge at 2:30 (2 1/2 hour wait) so we go. I grab some water and a whiskey and coke but we just ate so we are not hungry. Around 3 we head to the gate. Unfortunately when we get there our flight is delayed more and will board at 4. They give us airport vouchers so we buy a book, beer, and some stroopwaffles ($1 after vouchers). We finally board and head off around 5.
On the flight we are served dinner. They have run out of chicken by the time they get to me, but eventually find one and bring it to me later. I have a wine too. I read, watch a movie, and try to sleep a little. We have a whole row of four to ourselves so we can spread out. Dinner is a French bread pizza.
8pm - We land around 7pm (love time zone math!), grab our bags, and get a taxi to my car ($27.09). I drop off my friend and get home at 8:30. I am exhausted but cuddle my cats for about an hour before going to bed. 15k steps today
After trip expenses - $225 cat sitting
Total expenses: $2149.75 (+49k points)
Flight: $255 + 49k points
Lodging: $804.88
Food/drinks: $531.38
Travel: $101.56
Activities: $221.10
Souvenirs/gifts: $ 231.93
Final parting thoughts - I think just over $2k for an almost-week long trip to Europe is a pretty comfortable number for me. I am glad I could use points for most of the flight. We definitely didn't try to cheap out on anything. We spent a lot of money drinking (neither of us drink this much usually). I hope this was helpful to anyone, and I look forward to reactions/comments!

2024.05.14 21:49 nocturna369 Can whole milk really be the cause of my son's chronic constipation?

Can whole milk really be the cause of my son's chronic constipation?
New to this sub....sorry if I do something wrong. It wouldn't let me post without a link.
My 13 month old has been constipated since 6 months old. He started formula at 4 months (1st Bobbie, then Kendamil). He poops every 2-4 days but it's soooooo hard. Has an odd smell. He strains a lot every time before, and sometimes cries. He hasn't had a soft stool since 6 months.
He drinks water. I offer fresh water multiple times a day. I've tried fiber smoothies and it just made him poop more, but was still veryy hard stool. He eats egg, spinach, broccoli, applesauce, chicken, cheese, blueberries...,and we stopped banana & pasta a month ago.
I've heard about dairy causing constipation. We used Kendamil formula, and I feel like that's around when it started....1st ingredient whole milk. And he's now transitioned to reg whole milk, and there's no change in stool. It's the same it's been. Hard lumps. We even dilute it to give more water.
I mentioned if whole milk is possibly the issue to his Pediatrician. But she kinda brushed it off...just says it's probably from solids....and just give more water and prune juice. But I've done this. I can't stand seeing him suffer anymore. I also have prebiotics coming soon, and so that's my next thing to try.
I guess I'm just looking for reassurance that it's worth a try to switch his milk. I'm nervous to make the full switch when you keep seeing "babies need whole milk!" everywhere.
I'm looking at either flax, hemp, or oat to try out. Any thoughts? Thank you!

2024.05.14 21:14 YouExcellent1831 I just walked out on my first ever sous chef position. Contemplating leaving industry.

Context:
I am 25. I grew up in a family who owned and operated pizzerias in NY. I had started working on the register when I was 13 and started summer jobs as a Bussehost when I was 14. The restaurants I worked FOH were 4star high end (worked for 3). I have also always had a serious passion for cooking. When I was 18 I moved out of my home and began working for a dairy farm, then transitioned to a smoothie/salad/vegan gluten free oriented places (19-21). I was a manager making specials like gf desserts, ready to eat salads, and also worked on their equivalent of a ā€œlineā€. It was not refined whatsoever, clean, simple food. Did that for 2 years. Then quit during Covid after having tremendous stress, after helping reorient the entire business to be more grocery focused as we had a store front with organic, superfood tonics, meats, plant based stuff, etc. I had issues with the kitchen manager as she treated me differently than the other staff. I immediately applied for a junior sous position at a restaurant that was upscale dining, and after a trial day they were willing to train me on garde manger. I worked their and trained under two very capable chefs who were willing to teach me everything. One 36m another 29m who was actually head chef. I moved my way up to hotline after a yr and a half and was enjoying the job, environment, coworkers, and we would do about 200 covers a night in the summer. I carried on with the company for another year even after my head chef gave a months notice and took a much better more cdc job for a larger more high end company. I took on more responsibilities and and finally decided I had reached my ceiling of learning from that restaurant and I wanted to move overseas to broaden my skillset and resume but felt like I picked the wrong country/restaurants as the food was not on par even with the smoothie salad place I started at. I moved home a year later (2024) and was offered by my now cdc chef, same one who trained me and really vouched for me. I executed a 7 course tasting for the first time ever, dishes ranging from quiche, to pork chop, sole(which I had never cooked before), chicken pot pie, croquettes, salad, basque cheesecake, I made my own stock even, and I had a day of prep and the following day to plate. I landed the job over 4 other people. It was for a ā€œfamily orientedā€ but upscale bistro as it was on main street in a very affluent town in NY. We have investors, had a full reno as the spot had been a local favorite for 30 years a recently sold. We lost a lot of time we were supposed to be in the kitchen and the prospective opening day was for May 3rd. It got pushed back to the 10th, friends and family 7th and 8th, training of staff was 5th and 6th, while simultaneously doing recipe testing with chefs that had been brought in from other existing locations. Unbeknownst to my cdc, the investor, and restaurant owner, they hired a head chef from nyc that made good food, but could not complete 95% of tasks that were crucial to opening a restaurant, onboarding employees, understanding the kind of volume our town does in summer, actually cooking volume, properly executing recipes, having any recipes of his own that werenā€™t fresh off google, said he spoke Spanish and then couldnā€™t communicate to our staff which were all Hispanic spare 1 line cook I hired and use to work with at my first job, the wastage was off the charts, he couldnā€™t do inventory properly, and spent half of the time speaking constantly and ignoring everyone thinking heā€™s ā€œworking hardā€. I took it upon myself to try and execute recipes I had 3 days to learn, make stocks, train employees and learn how to schedule, organize a kitchen from the top down, clean kitchen after a full Reno, and my cdc and the business owner kept assuring me it was not my fault that things were going sideways and that the head chef was completely incompetent and they were actively looking for a replacement. I couldnā€™t keep up with the prep as hard as I tried, the walk in was a disaster. Felt like every time I organized it my head chef would receive an order and do things like put raw chicken on top of produce. I found cheeses on shelves and raw ground beef in dry storage left out overnight bc of him. He would just constantly talk and talk and talk about everything and nothing, call me in the off hours to talk about a tart mold that he wanted to make in house for 2 hours. Mention things I could do to loose weight, and it was just constant stimulation leading up to the actual opening and during. All the while he would delegate every single one of the the more complex recipe tasks to our untrained employees (sauce work, chopping herbs for garnish, cutting salmon, tuna for line and for Tartares) and I felt obligated to try and pick up as much of his slack. And if Iā€™m being realistic, I as much as the owner and former cdc who hired me believed in me, I still had a lot of refinement to do in my skillset. I have very shakey hands by nature so my knife skills leave a lot to be desired. Also I canā€™t just bang out a beurre blanc or mornay without thinking about it. I still have to watch and follow a recipe a few time to get the hang of it even though I understand the principles well. I anticipated a balance between my head chef and I and direction. And the worst part is, he would agree to certain tasks and I was the only one trying to organize our flow of prep, made a detailed prep list because his made absolutely no sense, and we would split tasks, Iā€™d execute mine, and he would spend 4 hours chopping mushrooms and par cooking them even though the pick up was raw as per the owner and cdc. It was absolutely maddening. I started having break downs everyday after work NEVER on site; even when to a psychiatrist in between one of our friends and family days to get the non narcotic equivalent of Xanax. I ended up walking out yesterday (13th). More like called and said I wasnā€™t coming back after my first day off in a week of straight 14 hour days constantly trying to pick up the pieces my head left behind. I have never walked out a job. But now after all of this, I am questioning whether I will ever be able to have a management position in the kitchen. Asking myself, did I progress too quickly? Am I just not capable? Have I completely exhausted myself in the kitchen? Also, I am sober spare nicotene which I consume like an absolute fiend right now. Any insight is appreciated. Please feel free to ask for more context as this is quite the ramble. Also have photos for reference of the food Iā€™ve cooked over the years .

2024.05.14 19:50 SpicyyySalsaaa Lifesavers

Lifesavers
I'm a slut for sandwiches. I'm not keto but the keto bread is a lifesaver.
Lean ground beef smash burgers guilt free. Grilled chicken sandwiches guilt free. Easily like 1/3 the calories of regular bread. Classic PB&J's for lunch.
I'm new to this, not really at the point where I'm counting calories and macros. But I'm just trying to eat cleaner and buy healthier options at the grocery store.
First pic is a massive smoothie bowl. Greek yogurt, frozen fruit medley, fresh blueberries from my yard topped with some granola and I also chopped up some peanut butter chocolate granola bars. Love some crunch in my smoothie bowl.
Smoothie bowl had to be almost a pound. Maybe 450 calories and at least 40g protein between the chopped up protein bars and Greek yogurt.
PB&j is maybe around 120 calories with the thin sliced low calorie bread.
I'm full as can be and energized ready to take on the rest of the day after this lunch!

2024.05.14 12:40 EquivalentFinance106 [REVIEW] BV Jodie in Black and BV Pouch in pink from Leo, Jing Factory

*DISCLAIMER* I AM A NEWBIE
Imagine me as a newbie astronaut, stepping into the world of reps for the very first time. Iā€™m untrained, like a fresh recruit, and everything is new and exciting, like exploring an alien planet. This is my first reps purchase; my maiden voyage into the galaxy of fashion. Iā€™m over the moon with my purchase! Itā€™s like finding a hidden treasure in the vast cosmos. But hey, Iā€™m still learning to navigate this starry expanse, so please be gentle with me, like the soft glow of the moon in the night sky.

Disclosure - No incentives were offered, but Leo did ask if I could pen down a review if I was satisfied. And guess what? Iā€™m super satisfied!

Seller - Leo. I discovered him after diving deep into the sea of reviews, he was also on a trusted sellers list. I contacted a bunch of sellers, comparing prices, shipping, factories, you name it. I read review after review, like a detective on a mission. But honestly, I am super happy I took the leap of faith
Contact Info - WhatsApp :+86 19120637469 and WeChat: LEO_7868

Price ā€“ 173 usd for the Mini Jodie, 154 usd for the pouch

Shipping - 50 USD (This cost covers the shipping of 2 bags without boxes, but with dustbags, all very carefully packed). The parcel arrived at my location via DHL

Timeline -
April 24th - I reached out to Leo, on Whatsapp. ā€œHello, do you have these two bags?ā€ I asked. He responded with the price, and like Indiana Jones, I took the leap of faith mentioned above and sent the funds for my order through PP Friends & Family.
April 25th - PSP pictures received. I gave the GL to the Jodie, but the color of the pouch was not the right one. Fear not, Leo contacted the factory and returned on April 27th with the right pouch. I gave the GL to the pouch too.
April 27th - Leo,sends me a picture of the box.
May 7th - The tracking number arrived, like a secret code in a spy movie. Leo reassured me he would choose a safe route for my package to avoid any customs shenanigans, like a skilled navigator avoiding stormy seas. The journey of my package began, setting sail from Germany.
May 13th - The items arrived, like long-awaited gifts on Christmas morning. To be honest, I hoped that my package would arrive earlier, but we had holidays where I live due to Orthodox Easter. Everything moves at a snailā€™s pace during holidays over here, like a sloth on a lazy Sunday!

Pictures
Ā· [Factory photos]: I donā€™t have them, I never browsed his album for these; I Was on a mission to buy these two)
Ā· [PSPs]( https://imgur.com/a/QXt82lC )
Ā· [Your Photos]( https://imgur.com/a/r5VFvE4 )

Quality - These bags are hitting a high note with a 9,5/10! Theyā€™re like a symphony in leather, every stitch hitting the right beat, no off-key notes here. The leather is woven to perfection, just like the intricate lattice on the top of a freshly baked apple pie. But please bear in mind; my eye is not trained, as already stated! :-D The zipper on the Jodie? Itā€™s smoother than a jazz solo. Logos are stamped with the precision of a master craftsman, like a sculptor chiseling a masterpiece. The leather on both? Itā€™s as soft and deep as a soulful ballad. Delicious and SOFT! Thereā€™s a tiny hint of fufu, but hey, itā€™s like a catchy chorus that fades out (no points deducted for this, itā€™s itā€™s like a temporary tattoo, itā€™ll go away).
Accuracy ā€“ Since love is the scale, I give them both a solid 5. Theyā€™re like well-trained show horses. These are bags born and bred in captivity and theyā€™re mirror images of the authentics, measurements matching the Bottega website like a well-tailored suit.
Rep Satisfaction Rating - 10/10, Iā€™m so smitten Iā€™d probably get another color in both these bags, like a kid in a candy store.
Seller Satisfaction Rating - 10/10. This was my first rodeo with any seller, and all of you made it feel like a magic carpet ride. Leo was a saint, handling my questions and my customs phobia like a seasoned therapist. The service was as prompt as a waiter in a five-star restaurant, and the prices were a steal. I even got a Bottega keychain as a gift, just because, which was the cherry on top of a perfect sundae.
CPR [Cost Performance Ratio] - Itā€™s looking like a perfect 10/10. I didnā€™t have to rob a bank for two bags that are going to be my go-to party pals.
The Wrap Up -
Iā€™ll be strutting these bags around town without a second thought, like a rockstar on a world tour. šŸŽø

2024.05.14 07:48 hide_it_quickly Transitioning over to Paleo at an okay pace. Eliminated the "Big 6" from my diet, caffeine, and added sugars but not "regular?" 3 Weeks into it now.

So, I eliminated out of the absorption process what I call the "Big 6": Beef, Chicken Meat, Pork, Wheat, Corn, and Soy. I also elimated Coffee, Tea, and other sources of Caffeine. This has allowed me to eliminate Dairy products too.
Meats: Grass-Fed/Finished Lamb/Mutton, Venison, and Rabbit. Duck when I can get it from a friend who is raising his with grain/legume free diet. Eggs: Pasture Raised Chicken when I cannot source Duck. Fish: Wild-Caught Fish like Salmon, Trout, Char, and Sprats/Sardines. Leafy greens out of the garden: Parsley, Chives, Lettuce, etc. FloweLeaf stemmy vegetables: Broccoli and Chard. Roots: Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, and sometimes Onions. Fruit: Pears, sometimes Apples, Nectarines, Raspberries, and Blueberries. Seed: Not Paleo, as far as I am aware, but close for transitioning over is only Wild Rice (Marsh Grass). A bowl of it in the morning with Blueberries and Raspberries instead of oatmeal. Nuts: Walnut and Macadamia are my go-to snacks aside from a whole raw Pear or Nectarine.
I drink a lot of water still so I know the soluable fiber is being "dissolved" but... to no avail. I'm on Week Three now wondering "what the heck?"
Getting outside in the sun and working out regularly for 60-90 minutes a day with Zone 2 cardio with two large dogs, and some lifting of heavy things daily. Any advice would be appreciated if I am going in the wrong direction or need to bolster in another way! TIA.
Edit: Grammar as I type this out rapidly. I cook with rendered fats (Duck and Lamb) and sea salt. I chose fresh herbs as additives from the garden but only Parsley and Chives thus far.

2024.05.14 06:00 Proof_Room_4004 A shaky start: Sucreabeille reviews from the vaults

I've been playing with my sample spreadsheet and was reminded that I literally relegated Sucreabeille to its own tab away from everyone else because I felt so negatively! They were my intro to indies, when I didn't know how to research scents or houses yet. I was hesitant to purchase because their marketing vibe didn't mesh with me, but I was convinced by the fawning reviews on almost every scent (on their website). At the time, I also didn't realize how expensive Suc is compared to many other brands!
I figured I could post these as a counterpoint to the mostly positive reviews that showed up when I searched for Suc scents. I'm sure the house works really well for some, but it REALLY didn't for me. Their pure gourmands worked better, but I haven't worn my top rated scent from this batch since I tried it out. I rested all of these for two weeks before testing, and I haven't revisited them since I got through all of them a few weeks after that.
My tastes: I really like rich resins and non-nag incense, as well as a spectrum of flormands and gourmands. I don't love fruits, green/aquatic scents or many dirt/dead leaf scents. Top houses: Olympic Orchids, Mythpunk Olfactive, Solstice Scents. Mid houses: Nui Cobalt, Cocoa Pink. Low hit rates: Suc, Alkemia, Possets, Haus of Gloi, BPAL GC
With that, I hope you enjoy my record of bewilderment.
BELSNICKEL Hot espresso with juniper berries and brown sugar.
CHAOS WITCH Freshly cut magnolias and moonflowers play with nutmeg cream.
DO NO HARM, TAKE NO SHIT Plums, nectarines, apricots, and blackberries sparkle on a bed of sage and fallen leaves deep in the autumnal forest.
AFTERGLOW Dark chocolate, amber, honey.
CREAM TEA A warm mug of creamy, frothy, caffeine-injected tea. A blend of chai tea, burnt sugar, white musk, warm milk, and hot scones slathered with raspberry jam and honey.
YOUR SKELETON IS ALWAYS WET Pistachio and almond with exotic spices.
COVEN A cauldron of herbs float in black, golden, and white ambers. Fir needles, cedarwood, and autumn leaves against a backdrop of pumpkin spice and sassafras.
AMAZONIA Pear, fig, blueberry, ylang ylang.
SMOKE AND DECAY Warm snickerdoodle cookies dipped in buttercream frosting, campfire wood smoke, crisp red apple, Indian sandalwood, a freshly poured oatmeal stout, orange spiced chai tea.
VENOM Oud wood, smoked patchouli, coal, freshly paved tar, cedarwood.
HOCUS POCUS Wormwood, bitter almond, figs, violets, nicotina, sparkling aldehyde.

2024.05.14 05:12 NobankiesNolosies A good place to buy wide brim straw hats?

I will be coming to vacation in Barbados later this week and I was curious if anyone had recommendations on a place to buy a wide brim straw hat. I have one that I wear when we go to the beach but it wont fit in my suitcase and I don't feel like wearing it on the plane lol I'm relatively certain they will be everywhere but figured I would get the advice of some locals. We will be staying just south of Holetown but will be stopping through Bridgetown on the way to the resort after arriving at the airport so preferably somewhere in those areas. I've already made use of the posts here for things to do and places to see so thank you for that plethora of information, but is there any food/drink I absolutely have to try while I'm there? Of course macaroni pie and I would love to have some fresh pressed cane juice. We will be going to Tim's in Bridgetown for lunch but is there somewhere else we should check out instead? Thanks in advance and I can't wait to experience everything y'all have to offer!

2024.05.14 05:09 Background_Gap1053 Vibe Cannabis Rosin

Today I purchased a 1g jar of Blueberry Pie Rosin by Vibe and for the first time ever the jar was completely empty. I unfortunately didnā€™t take a picture but Thankfully it was soon after I bought it that I realized it was empty and I was able to take it back to greenlight and the good people there got it sorted out for me. I absolutely love vibe rosin and all of their products but itā€™s wild for me to think i paid 60$ for an empty jaršŸ˜‚ I understand that things like this happen from time to time but I find it kind of crazy that there isnā€™t a higher standard of QC on things like rosin jars before they are sent out considering it is one of the more expensive products.

2024.05.14 04:04 GapEnvironmental5073 Grandma Says "Pie Shop!", Dreams Say "World Tour!

Alright Reddit fam, I need some serious help navigating this family drama that's messier than a Thanksgiving casserole fight. Here's the deal:
My grandma, bless her heart, just decided to "retire" from being the head chef at her famous pie shop. Now, the whole family expected me (her only grandchild) to take over the business. The problem? I'm a talented musician, just landed a killer gig touring with a folk band! Don't get me wrong, I love my grandma and the shop (those blueberry pies are legendary!), but music is my dream.
Here's the kicker: my parents, who never supported my music career, are suddenly all gung-ho about me taking over the pie shop. They're guilt-tripping me like a master chef with a pressure cooker, saying things like "This is your legacy!" and "The family business can't crumble on your watch!" Ugh, enough with the pie puns already!
So, Reddit, what do I do? Follow my musical dreams or fulfill this supposed family legacy? Is there a way to have my pie and eat it too (pun fully intended)? Any advice from fellow Redditors who've faced similar family business dilemmas?
