So this is kind of a follow-up from a previous post. I really want to take this seriously and I want to start doing acting classes. I'm looking into free or cheaper group classes to be able to connect and meet with more people.
But as far as my own journey, I want to take one-on-one lessons for myself. I've already looked at some online teachers and they have given me a consult and I'm feeling more confident that I can do this. But I don't know about doing it online. 🤔
I'm still new to this, but I think most people agree that acting in person is very different than acting online? When you're in the room with someone, there's an atmosphere and an energy that you can feel and react to. If I'm doing it online, they can't sense those feelings from me through a screen.
It could be my opinion. I'm sure some people would say that online classes can be wonderful. But I'm ADHD and I feel like I need to be more immersed to be able to learn. So maybe this is just my personal journey.
But for the more seasoned actors out there past and present. Do you agree that acting in person is much different than acting online?

I am beyond thrilled to tell you guys that I am accepting a new job! I work in the United States for a county position and where I work right now is very stressful and a lot of people are already leaving because of it. I’m taking on the duties of two or three people because of one leaving. My supervisor is not the nicest to me except for the last few days when I told her a family member was just diagnosed with a serious illness. Anyway, the new job is another county position but in a much better location and better environment and better work life, etc. The best part of all this is my seniority and vacation and sickleave and insurance transfers over as if I just walked down the hall to get a new job. Pay is just slightly lower but that’s ok because it’s plenty for me and a lot less stress.
I’m just overwhelmed and stressed out over not receiving much training for a lot of stuff I’ve been given to do currently (stuff that was someone else’s job before they left). Anyway, I have a very respectful letter to give my boss tomorrow to give my resignation for two weeks. Please give me any advice on how to handle this without it being too dramatic! Obviously, I’m scared that she is going to be very upset and treat me like dirt for two weeks. Anyone out there tell me how to not let that bother me? I appreciate any personal experiences and encouragement you can give me!

2024.05.13 22:20 Used-Calligrapher975 Afraid to take medication

Was too honest with psychiatrist during evaluation, she thinks I may have bipolar and started me on abilify. I've been on it about a week. The bipolar thing kinda came as a shock to Mr to start with though I could possibly see it being a thing. Thing is I have really really bad anxiety and panic attacks. I quit my PCOS medication due in part to this anxiety. I am nervous about taking medication generally especially psych meds.
It took nearly a week to get myself convinced to take the meds, and now I already want to go off. Though I haven't had any side effects yet I'm afraid of side effects, especially the suicidal ideation and unusual urges one. I find myself analyzing everything I do, spend 40 bucks on Amazon, is this a normal behavior, an unusual urge, or is this a sign I'm bipolar? There are tons more examples but this is just one. Then, last night, a friend of mine told me about how she was misdiagnosed with bipolar, and when she took abilify it made her mental health way way worse and now I'm afraid it's going to happen to me. I woke up after only 3 hours sleep having a panic attack and I can't get back to sleep. I just don't know what to do or how to cope, I think I just need to rant and talk to people who might know what I'm going through. Thank you for reading

I was working in IT, and while I wanted to move up, I tolerated the helpdesk work, and some days even enjoyed it. Then the layoff came. I was desperate and needed money, so I took the first job that accepted me. I thought it was an AT&T store job, either a branded store or target kiosk, but no, it’s a door to door job. And I don’t know. I do agree that fiber is objectively a better option than the old cable plans, I really do. But after just a few days of talking to people I see that many don’t care about the best quality, good enough is fine. They don’t care if they’re paying more than they could be, to them the convenience of being fine with what they have is good. Many seem to know about fiber and are pondering switching, but want to do their research before pulling the trigger. So knocking on doors and trying to convince people to make a hasty choice kinda feels… dirty. Thing is I need money. That also ties into the fact that doing a commission job is trusting that I can make enough to cover expenses, easier said than done. So I really do want the hourly wage, I want to not feel like I’m being a walking YouTube add for AT&T, etc. if I could give the shirt and iPad back today and start a different job tomorrow, I would. And maybe my being stubborn and only targeting IT jobs is slowing me down. Maybe my not considering pay lower than $20 an hour is slowing me down. But I also do need to cover my expenses. I just know I can’t keep knocking on doors and trusting my livelihood in people buying.

Ive moved countries a couple of times and had to start over socially every time. I feel like the same pattern repeats itself.
I manage to meet some people through an event or school or work. I often find it difficult to convert acquaintances into a friendship. And when it does happen… they’re more surface level friends?
But none that feel like real fulfilling friendships? Just the odd coffee or dinner here and there.
For some of these people, I especially like them and would love for us to be closer friends. But I struggle to make that happen. And no one seems to initiate trying to be closer to me?
And on the rare occasion that someone does, my anxiety really holds me back. With girls, I’m constantly questioning whether I’m coming off normal? Whether I’m saying the right thing? That I end up coming across pretty reserved and timid and uninteresting. With guys I manage to be a bit more at ease, but still. My success is quite limited.
I’ve missed out repeatedly on what I thought could have been great friendships that didn’t amount to anything.
Now, I find myself in this position once again. There’s this really cool colleague who I get along with great. We have similar values, we like similar things, and have more in common compared to many others around me. I really enjoy talking to him during our lunch break / whenever we interact socially. I’d love to be closer friends but I’m not sure how to make that happen? He already has his close friends and probably isn’t actively looking to add more? I feel like I’m just going to lose out on yet another potential genuine friend.
Now because of my history of failures, I’m very sensitive to how my interactions with this colleague play out, their smallest details, when he probably doesn’t notice 95% of the things I fret about and read into. The smallest thing he does (like responding to a text late) makes me feel worthless, like I’m uninteresting, unimportant, no one will ever want to be my close friend.
Ofc this is a recipe for disaster. But idk how to go about this (with him and others) the right way? How do people go from being surface level friends to closer friends? Are there (healthy) steps I could take?

It's been a long time since my last update.
Prev updates summary: Have anal abscess on May 2022, that turned into fistula (seen on endoanal ultrasound scan, on March 2023) and later had my first EUA + fistulectomy surgery by end of May 2023. Having episodes of wound reopen, swelling, unresolved pain, persistent discharged (serous, fresh blood and sometimes purulent discharge) on and off in which had been dismissed again and again due to the abnormal discharges were no longer there everytime I went to primary care/ED/post surgery follow-up; until a visit in mid-October where the primary care doctor confirmed there's concerning swelling filled with pus on the op site. Warded for pain management + infection management several times starting October 2023 till January 2024. Scheduled for Pelvis MRI to rule out recurring FIA by mid December 2023, which shown no internal opening. Going thru another EUA + original plan to excise the infected sinus tract as shown in the MRI; but turns out it's indeed a recurring fistula.
Having similar episodes of wound reopen and purulent discharge + pain on and off (but less nuisance than previous one) post 2nd EUA + re-fistulectomy. I asked all the unanswered questions during my first follow up (3 weeks post op), but was told it's normal and the wound is nicely healing. The same comments during my 2nd follow up (6 weeks post op). In the same week, was discharged from dressing clinic (there's tiny little puncture wound left but most of the time either has no discharge or only seeping serous discharge) and was planned to be discharged by surgical clinic on the next follow up (mid April) if there's no sign of recurrent.
Still taking pain meds religiously, but reduced the dosage since it's Ramadan starting mid-March and I need to fast (I'm Muslim). Having more throbbing and swelling pain episodes, thought it's because I lowered my dosage and didn't taken any pain meds in the day time. Up until the last week of March, my loose stool episodes since forever turned into diarrhoea. Each BM would be accompanied with dripping purulent + fresh blood discharge. Still thinking positive since the wound will resealed itself in few hours (before reopened again after ea toilet visits).
Thursday night, was in so much pain, cramp up to my pubic area and lower abdomen. Sweating so bad, feverish, palpitations, and rapid breathing after each BM. The wound either reopened and has not much fresh blood + purulent discharge, or resealed with pimple like swelling (just a size of peanut). Was a hectic week in office so I can't afford to take any sick leave. Hold until the Saturday, 30/03/2024 where I surrendered myself to ED. Of course the swelling is no longer swollen while I waiting for my turn (triage to green zone due to stable vital and not in so much pain after the swelling wound pop earlier). But, due to my history of recurring FIA that had been dismissed as normal wound healing progress before, they readmit me for another EUA.
31/3/2024 My case was post as emergency case although there's no pus seen on pre-op exam. Plan, 1. EUA 2. If has fistula, to insert seton OR if there's no fistula to proceed with I&D + wound debridement. It's the latter, thanks God. The diagnosis was updated to infected gluteal sinus instead. They debride larger area this time for easy dressing - ~4x4x4cm (my op wounds opening used to be 1.5x1.5cm at large, with 4cm depth).
Today The wound is smaller and only has a very small area waiting for the epidermis layer to be generated fully (~1cmx0.5cm) and the original sinus tract is said to be fully closed.
The thing is, I had another diarrhoea episodes last week and the original tract opening that's been sealed up has been swelling like pimple again (this time only a size of mung bean), reopen, seeping fresh blood and serosanguineous discharges. As per before, since the opening is so small - like a size of needle puncture hole - it easily resealed (and reopen again with each BM). To make it worse, during 5 days I'm having constipated diarrhea last week, there's internal throbbing pressure + I can feel a tract bulging up underneath my skin + there's stool like discharge from the small puncture wound (this didn't happen during the end of March infection pain). I tried to convince myself that I was having incontinence due to having frequent loose stool episodes, but the other signs that came together with it are not helping.
Currently having normal BM with 1-2 loose stool episodes per day; No longer stool like discharge nor can feel the bulging tract-like swelling any longer since the constipation is gone. But starting last afternoon (Sunday, 12/5/2024), for each of my BM, there's fresh blood dripping down into the toilet bowl. It's from the tiny puncture wound which seems to be bigger (if compared, previously it's the size of 24g cannula puncture wound if not sealed and now it's 16g every time it's reopened).
Pain is currently minimal. I only taking pcm BD/TDS + celebrex/tramal/voltaren OD/PRN, but usually only pcm. The most painful is during and few hours after BM. Now I am confused are all these signs of recurring of FIA/infected sinus tract or is it only partof healing process. I hope it is the latter.
Oh, and they transferred my case from colorectal case to general surgery case post op - since there's no longer internal opening found during my latest EUA. They planned to discharge me once the tissue are all regenerate and heal, but there's a part of me telling that I still need to be rule out from recurring FIA with all these recurring symptoms.

Ok just for context I’m 19m and don’t go to college but started work outta highschool. So I’ve been to a couple college parties and a couple band shows that the local students will put on. Anywho me and one of my lady friends asked to come to a basement show and I said yes becuase I’m very very social so I can talk to pretty much everyone and so I do what I do when I get to a party and start scoping out the area and start up some small talk. Now cut to around the middle end of the night I’ve made around 10/15 new friends that I’ve had a good and genuine conversation with and they are all very nice people except for the few that I didn’t have good convos with lol but everyone’s entitled to there own opinion so I don’t judge. Anywho when it gets to around the end of the night me and my buddy we start asking some of the people we made friend with if they wanted to hit up a local food spot. With just about every person they gave us strange looks and started treating us like we are creepy. Neither of us have a creepy tone or aura about us and that Ik for sure. We just found it strange since that age group (19-25) is constantly talking about wanting to meet new people and make new friends but when the opportunity presents itself it seems they want the opposite. We’ve also made it very clear that our intentions are purely friendly. I’m not looking for anything just working on me and same for my friend. Anywho what are your thoughts on this? Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
Edit: second base is like a placeholder term here don’t take it serious and just read the paragraph my fault. i just didn’t know what word/phrase would suit this scenario but I meant more or so the next step in a friendship.

So I work at a courthouse, full time and make around $2100 a month. Been here about a year and a half now. The thing is my coworkers are judgmental asf and 2 of them are openly transphobic. I am 1 month on T, no noticeable changes have really happened except a tiny tiny unnoticed voice drop that I’m the only one who can notice. I still have longish hair. They just think I’m a masculine lesbian, which they dont treat me any different for (surprisingly based on how they feel about the lgbt community). I’m not out as trans to them at all. I really want to cut my hair short like a cis guy cut, but every time I’ve gotten a haircut (even just shoulder length) they make a huge deal about it like “omg why did u do that” “what made u cut ur hair it was so beautiful ” and I absolutely hate that shit. It’s a huge haircut and I feel like I would never hear the end of it. I feel like I would never feel comfortable with my transition here at this job, but it makes decent money. I really want to quit and go to a different job that my girlfriend works at. A trans man works there and the general manager is completely trans supportive. It’s a guaranteed job too because she knows the manager personally and she can get me in easily. It would just be a pay cut and I’d make around $1900 monthly (it’s heavily based on tips tho). That would be enough for me to pay my necessary monthly bills, but I’m just worried if that is a good decision or not. It would only be a temporary thing until I pass better. In the future, I plan on getting a certificate of some kind in order to work from home which is ideal for me. Should I do it? I just want advice from someone on the outside looking in. I know I shouldn’t care about what others think, but I do and I would feel so uncomfortable staying here throughout my haircut and transition as a whole. I know working at the other job wouldn’t make me immune to transphobia, I would just feel way more comfortable because they wouldn’t know me as a girl like these people do. Any advice is appreciated.
TLDR: My current job pays more money but the people here are transphobic and would judge me, I would not feel comfortable transitioning here. I want to work at a different job that would be more accepting, but it would be a slight pay cut. What should I do?
