2024.05.14 05:33 TheosRW [Hobby] Looking to expand our team and bring our project to the next stage of development

Hi! I’m working on a project with a few buddies of mine that’s more or less your typical fantasy tabletop game.
We’re past the idea stage of the project, and have the base system we want the game to be written down, and a good buddy of mine has begun posting some concept doodles over on his Twitter.
We’re looking to expand our team with people from pretty much all fields interested in developing a tabletop game as we get ready to launch a Kickstarter campaign.

For Programmers & 3D Modelers Interested in the Project:

We’re looking for people who can make some test footage of an app/website we can use in the Kickstarter campaign - particularly, we want to show off these aspects:
-A 3D CharacteMiniature creator adapting the style of our team’s artist, going for a more Anime/Dragon Quest inspired aesthetic, and using some of the character options that will be available in the game
-A customizable battle map you can display your miniatures and tokens on as the Gamemaster runs the encounter, showing off some the actions you can take in combat

For Writers and Game Devs Interested in the Project:

As I said above, we have an outline with all the rules, character options, and features we want to include in a document that’s about 69 pages(give or take) but it’s more of a skeleton as it currently stands, and we’d like to bring more people in to get feedback and expand on some of the base ideas we have.
In particular, we need:
-Writers with a grasp on history & religion to expand on the cultures and pantheons we have and help write lore and history for them
-Tabletop/RPG game devs to give feedback, and give their thoughts on what they like, what they don’t like, and possibly help in some areas that could use more work

For Artist & Animators Interested in the Project:

Our team Artist is going to be working on an animation to use for our Kickstarter Campaign while also making concept art for the game itself. We’re looking for people who can replicate his style, and either do more line work, shade or ‘digitally ink’ his pieces for a more classic RPG manual aesthetic in the concepts, storyboard, or do a sequence of animation for the trailer.
He’s a bit of a newbie when it comes to animation, so even just giving your input on pointers or tips and tricks you like to use would also be very helpful.

For Sound Designers and Voice Actors Interested in the Project:

We’re looking for people who can make some music along with the planned animation, make some sound effects for any potential programmers that join our team to use in the test footage, and VO’s to lend their voices for characters in the project’s animation.
If you want more details or have any questions, feel free to comment below or shoot me a DM. I’ll answer to the best of my ability when I receive your message.

2024.05.14 05:28 Otherwise_Abies_8494 5 Takeaways from the Mallards-Gators opening series.

1. Kolm pitching and confidence.
In a series that had many interesting storylines such as Jorgensen’s and Behen’s first series with their new teams, Evan’s first official series in MLW after being drafted with the first overall pick in the past draft and Cheetam’s first series as manager it was Preston Kolm who caught my eye the most.
I thought that surely Jorgensen would get the ball for game 2. Instead, manager Tommy Coughlin decided to go with Preston, clearly, he impressed him in the offseason, and he certainly impressed me as well. He showed great command, his pitches looked sharp, movement was working, and you could see that as he got deeper into the game his confidence was rising, he even broke out a Kracht-esque sidestep pitch for a strikeout. He ended up with a no hitter and a near perfect game just ruined by a single walk.
Now, with no intention of ruining the Mallards hype party, it is important to note that the Gators are probably not the most competitive team in the league, and their offense might be the weakest of all teams. They only scored one run in 9 innings (granted, the Mallards scored 2) but still, it was an amazing first outing for Kolm.
What was interesting to watch is that the confidence was not only bounded to pitching, but it carried over to everything else. He made some nice defensive plays in the field including a really tough one. At the plate he reached in 4 out of his 6 plate appearances.
I will follow his progress closely as the season goes on, but the Mallards suddenly have really nice depth in their rotation, with 3 very capable arms on the roster.
2. Sawyer Behen can pitch!
Coming into this series many eyes where on Behen, and for good reason. After the very loud and controversial trade that saw Behen land with the Gators, there is a lot of pressure on him to perform this year, especially with the comments he made during the offseason, and if this series is any indication of what we will see from him, ohh boy did the Gators win this trade. After Jorgensen’s departure the Gators will need to fill the franchise player vacancy. And while I don’t think Behen can be enough of a hitter to fill that void, he showed he can be the face of the Gators pitching staff. Behen looked unhittable, and aside from a Robles rocket to left field, no one really made strong contact off him. His final line was 7IP, 1ER, 16K and 9BB. With Behen at this level on the mound, rookie Evans talent and Cheetam as a third arm the Gators quietly have a solid rotation, capable of winning games even against the most dangerous offenses as they nearly did in the 3 games against the Mallards.
3. Gators rookies are here!
Aiden Richard joined the Gators as an undrafted free agent, and while I’m sure it was not the debut he hoped for, as he went 0-2 and had a whoopsie play in right field that resulted in a Robles home run which ended up being the winning run for the Mallards. He looked good. He was responsible for one of the few Gators’ hard-hit balls, unfortunately it went just foul instead of what would have been a monster home run. But his swing looks good, he clearly has power and I think as the season goes on and as he racks up more plate appearances, he will be a good player for the Gators.
As for fist overall pick Jeremy Adams it was mixed bag, he started off great with a well hit ball to open the series for the Gators but wasn’t able to get any hits after that. Still, he managed to reach base 4 times in 10 PA’s. Which was the best mark on his team. The swing looks dangerous and there is definitively a power threat in there. I think it will take some time for him to adjust to MLW pitchers and rules, but I am confident he will figure it out. However, what really impressed me was his pitching. It is normal for first year players to struggle as pitchers, but Evans looked as comfortable as a veteran star pitcher. He only allowed one run in 3 innings of work and that run should have a major asterisk next to it, as Richard pushed the ball over the fence on a batted ball that would have never made it past the fence without some help. Overall, I loved what I saw from him on the mound, and Behen now must be absolutely remarkable if he doesn’t want to lose his spot as the guy in the pitching rotation. I would go as far as to say that Evans might already be the best second arm in the league, (if he will be the second arm for much longer is really in question) to say he has ace potential is an underestimation.
4. What happened to the Mallards offense?
If you would have told me that the Mallards would manage only 2 runs in the whole series against the Gators, I would have called you crazy. Nevertheless, that is exactly what happened, and I have no idea what to think about it. I had previously called the new Mallards offense the best assembled lineup in modern MLW history. The fact that they couldn’t really get anything going against a rookie pitcher and a 2.48 ERA pitcher in Behen is honestly, surprising. There is no point in trying to analyze why this happened. Its too small of a sample size. Let’s just call it an off day for them, but its something that is worth paying attention for their next series.
5. What happened to the cheat code?
I believed Cheetam could return to his usual form as a hitter, after an awful 2023 season, but it was a torrid start. If the Gators want to play playoff baseball this season, they need Cheetam’s bat to wake up. He is now the leader of this incredible young team, and I fear that if they keep getting no production out of him their season will be a short one.

2024.05.14 05:19 chiefsmokedyou I Just Passed A+ 1102!

Hello everybody!
I just wanted to come by and say that I passed on my first attempt with a 705. I passed by a hair with a low score, but I'll take it. What definitely helped me through were Professor Messer's free YouTube video playlist on 2x speed, (I also bought his notes, you don't have to but for me going over it a few times helped), as well as the CompTIA A+ Core 2 (220-1102) Practice tests on Udemy. I also looked at a playlist of PBQs on YouTube and it somewhat helped, but I didn't get any of those questions for my sims. I don't mean to bag on Jason Deon's Practice tests, but I used them as well. However, they weren't anything similar to what I was being tested on during the CompTIA exam which prompted me to look at the reviews and most said the practice exams were a bit outdated and further from the CompTIA 220 1102 Exam Objectives. I don't encourage anybody to cram study, but I had to cram study this last weekend because the time for my first course for WGU is coming to an end in two days. Core 1 is my next course, so I'll have to buckle down and not cram study again. Also, life has thrown me a few curveballs, so it's been hectic and crazy the last few weeks. To those who have doubts, don't doubt yourself, just go over the objectives, make sure you can understand the concepts and it will get you through!

2024.05.14 05:18 wokenthehive Round-up of some recent app changes and issues

Here is a quick compilation of recent Hinge changes and issues.
Top Photo
Hinge is rolling out the Top Photo feature to various locations. Note that if the Top Photo option is available for you, it is toggled on by default. You won't notice the photos shuffling when you view your own profile in the edit section. When you see the same people's profile on discover shuffling their photos constantly, it's because of Top Photo
Hinge however does not state whether or not Top Photo also applies to profiles on your Likes and Match lists. As far as I can tell, Top Photo does not apply to profiles on those lists.
Written Prompts character limit bug
There is a bug where you can't write anymore words in the written prompts without hitting the character limit. The simple work around is to write your prompts in a notes app on your phone, then copy and paste it onto Hinge. If you notice whatever you wrote is cut off by Hinge, it means your written prompt is too long and hit the character limit.
"Nearby" option removed from discover
On the latest UI update, Hinge removed the "Nearby" filter option (as well as the "Compatible" option), with only "Active today" and "New here" available. "Compatible" is now the default option when nothing is chosen. Note, this is only applicable to people with Hinge+ or X.
Hinge Support confirmed that the "Nearby" option was removed on purpose as they are testing this new UI. The important word here is that this is a supposedly a test, so there could be a possibility that Hinge could reverse the change. Hinge wants people to instead have quicker access to preferences in order to filter profiles better. (The three options given are Age, Height, and Dating Intentions.) If you want to see profiles closer to you, Hinge says to manually update the distance preference.
If you liked the "Nearby" option and don't like the fact Hinge removed this option, I suggest filing a support ticket and give them this feedback.
Hidden Words
Hinge added the Hidden Words feature back in April. It seems however, on social media many many people are misinformed as to how this feature actually works.
Hidden Words does not filter out profiles on discover or likes without comments. All it does is filter out specific words if someone sends a comment with their like/rose that contain those words. For example: if you added "pineapple on pizza", it won't filter out any profiles with those words included. Only if someone sent a like that included the comment 'pineapple on pizza" will the Hidden Words filter block that profile from showing up on your Likes list and notifications and instead will move it onto the Hidden Likes list.
So don't bother adding all the cliches you hate seeing on Hinge since it won't do anything to prevent you from seeing them unless they happen to send a comment including those specific phrases. You may instead inadvertently block a well meaning profile who happened to said the wrong words in their comments.
Relationship Type filter
Don't forget that there's a Relationship Type filter now available for most users, and more importantly it is a FREE filter. If you don't want any non-monogamy/poly/ENM people, or only want to seek those types, you can filter them now.

2024.05.14 05:12 TK3600 Scout formation is the true Screen formation

Ever been frustrated that AI screen formation just YOLO into enemy melee range? Turns out under scout formation AI will follow the fleet and maintain proper distance toward enemy.
This is not perfect either. Scouts will still leave the battleships, and actively fight enemy. The difference is this time they dont go into melee range and maintain some distance. You might think this makes no difference, but it does. I did some test to show the difference.
Battle:
Me: 6 BB, 12CL
Enemy: 9CA, 13CL, 8 DD, 5 TB
As you may expect, my BB should dominate the fight at range, as long as DD and TB dont get close. However, if set for a close brawl, there would be lots of casualties.
Condition 1: BB on AI mode, all 12 CL on screen mode.
Result: Victory, but 9 of my CL is dead.
Condition 2: BB on AI mode, all 12 CL on scout mode.
Result: Victory, 1 CL lost.
Condition 3: BB on AI, all but 4 CL on scout mode, 5 on screen, 3 on free AI.
Result: Victory, 8 CL lost, but all 8 of them are ones not on scout mode.
This shows scout formation can screen the BB effectively, and make screen die less often. Ideally, a human player can do better than losing 1 CL, by stick closer to BB's secondaries. Regardless, it was a surprisingly competent result for a battle ran by AI.

2024.05.14 05:05 CuriousMind768 Got my IELTs Results back yesterday!!! - and some advice (because I spent hours looking at reddit advice before my exams, so I wanted to share some of my experiences and tips)

Got my IELTs Results back yesterday!!! - and some advice (because I spent hours looking at reddit advice before my exams, so I wanted to share some of my experiences and tips)

Tips and my personal experience on how to study for IELTs:
  1. Listening - I used https://www.ieltsweb.com/. I think the main tip is to concentrate as much as possible. For this exam, it was a tad bit harder (but only mildly), might help to jot down some notes esp for part 3. When I ran out of exercises using the above link, I also used this one https://practicepteonline.com/ielts-listening-tests/
  2. Reading - Similarly, I also utilized https://www.ieltsweb.com/ to help. Practice definitely helped with this one. The best thing would be to read as you go through the questions. Esp for "Fill in the blank" questions, you can just try to find the word without reading through the entire text. But for other questions, try to only read the designated paragraph, the questions usually follow the order of the text. I also used https://ieltsonlinetests.com/, but I think it's harder than the actual exam. From my experience, the first time I did my IELTS (2 years ago), the reading was relatively easy (I scored 8), like the samples in ieltsweb, but the level of difficulty in the reading passages I got for this exam would be between ieltsweb and ieltsonlinetests.
  3. Writing - This is the part that I was most worried about. I used https://www.ielts-mentor.com/ to help me out a lot. Really try to practice as many questions as possible, write out the whole thing even when practicing. A week prior to the exam, I started getting super lazy but I still forced myself to at least jot down the bullet points of what I would say. Definitely work on the timing - 20 minutes max for the first question, 40 minutes max for the second question. It seems like a lot of time but it really wasn't, for me at least. Make sure you also spare 5-10 minutes rereading through to check for any spelling mistakes. Contrary to others, I didn't really use ieltsliz that much - I only watched her video on how to write the introduction as well - and I realized you had to paragraph the question IELTS gives you on that part. I also watched the "what to do in the last 5 minutes of exam video by Liz, which talks about how you MUST have a conclusion. But that's really it. I also didn't watch ieltsadvantage/E2 youtube channels. Instead, I used the vocab list in ieltsmentor (i.e., the above link) and jotted them down onto a notebook. I would then memorize them and apply them into my writing. I also used copilot to give me band 9 sample answers and I would memorize some of the sentences/words I'd like to use in my exam. E.g., when I did a practice question I wrote something like "By socializing with work colleagues allows our relationship with them to deepen. This can be an invaluable opportunity to not only establish a strong team spirit but also boost communication between colleagues." After using copilot, I'd memorize the key words it wrote and note it down into a google doc "Socializing ⇒ building stronger relationships, which can translate into a more harmonious and productive work environment". During the last few days before the exam, I also used https://www.bestmytest.com/ielts/writing (predominantly) and https://howtodoielts.com/recent-ielts-writing-topics-2022/ and went through all the questions to make sure I had points for it (if not, I'd ask copilot and try to memorize some of their points and sentences). In addition, I used https://www.ieltsweb.com/ and ran through ALL of the writing. If anyone wants to see some of the answers I did for my practice qs, please let me know!
  4. Speaking - I was fairly concerned about this part as well, as I was afraid that I didn't know what to answer for some questions (it wasn't the english that was the issue, it was more of the fact that I didn't have any points for some questions). I used https://www.ielts-mentor.com/ again for my speaking. In terms of part 1 and part 3, there are a list of questions and answers in the above link and I went through ALL of them. Make sure you actually try to answer them and NOT in your mind (answering in your mind will only result in lots of stuttering when you actually try to say things out verbally). If you are alone/don't mind speaking aloud, you should do that when practicing. I get kind of embarrassed speaking in front of my family (even if I'm alone in my room) so I didn't speak aloud, but I would mouth out the words as I practiced and that helps considerably. There are also cue cards for part 2 in the above link, but there were too many, so I didn't run through all of them. But just like writing, I did as many as possible. Even for the really difficult ones, force yourself to try! And I'd use copilot to give me a band 9 sample answer for speaking as well AFTER I'd tried. Since I began to run out of time on the last few days before the exam, I was confident in speaking fluently so I didn't speak through every single question on https://www.bestmytest.com/ielts/speaking, but I would think of points in my mind for EVERY question - just so I had something to say (and use copilot if I was stuck). As for me, a tip for part 2 would be try to find answers that you can use for multiple questions. E.g., if you have an answer prepared for "tell me about your most memorable journey", I'd come up with a short paragraph about my trip to USA. Then I'd use the same answer for things like "tell me about your most exciting experience" or "tell me about a day trip that you went on" etc (you might have to change a few points to cater to the question, but the general idea and most vocab and points should be similar. This really helps you to be more flexible and easily answer more questions.
Really hoped this helped. If there's any further questions, please let me know! I'd be more than happy to try help as much as possible. I think I pretty much put everything I used up there because I think they were the most useful, if there's anything else I missed and suddenly remembered then I'll add it below in the comments. Best of luck to everyone preparing! Don't give up, I had to work exceedingly hard for this test, if I can do it, so can you!

2024.05.14 05:03 notoriousbck Anyone diagnosed with Gastroduodenal or Jejunal Crohn's that did not show up on MRI ?

I posted about this awhile back and did not get much response but I am gaslighting myself and need people who have gone through this or similar to help me be objective.
I will Try to keep this brief but it's a lot.
-long history of stricturing Crohn's of terminal ileum diagnosed in 2006. First resection Sept 2018, Last resection in April 2022. Surgeon told me he found Crohn's high up in small bowel, could not remove safely, hoped new biologic (Stelara) would take care of it.
-6 month delay in starting Stelara due to GI F up (forgot to send preauthorization)
-July 2022 began having severe upper gastric pain (under ribs and belly button) after even the smallest amount of food, followed by severe nausea and often vomiting. Within half hour multiple liquid BM's undigested food and insane amount of fluid. Began to eat less and less, moved to soft diet, and finally to complete liquids in August 2023
-July 2023-Oct 2023- Weight loss of 20 lbs over 3 month period. Many ER visits needed for rehydration and IV anti emetics and pain meds as could not keep down any oral meds. GI did colonoscopy but only found microscopic Crohn's in anastomosis site (he only took 2 biopsies from that area and nowhere else). CT's done in hospital showed thickening of wall of ascending colon, and collapsed bowel, free fluid in peritoneum. GI dismissed as "not reliable". Fecal Cal slightly elevated. Constant low grade anemia. After 4th ER visit in Oct 2023 they did a high res Ultrasound and I was admitted by surgery department. However, as I was urgent but not emergent, there were no beds available. Was given choice of staying in ER and receiving IV steroids, or going home and following up with GI. Chose home and was given Entocort. Entocort slowed down bowel from 30-50 bm's a day to ten. Did not help pain, nausea, vomiting, lack of ability to eat. After several desperate emails where I begged for help, said I wanted to die-GI ordered urgent MRI, would not change meds or give prednisone without "proof".
-November 2023-Began to experience fatigue like never before. Could hardly keep eyes open. This would be followed by severe upper gastric pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea that went on for days, followed by constipation for 1-2 days and severe bloating, only on the left side of belly which would be rock hard and hot to the touch. Then the diarrhea cycle woud begin again. Always pure liquid, sometimes black, always tons of mucous.
-Went to Mexico to visit my parents for the holidays where I usually feel better but still could not eat. Injecting myself with IM Gravol (anti emetic) just to keep fluids down. I lived off of chicken broth with rice. Saw GI in private hospital. Ordered full workup. Blood found in stool. 3 D CT ordered (could not find a vein for IV after 5 nurses, two doctors, and a radiologist with a vein finder so only had oral contrast) showed inflammation in small bowel, thickening of the ascending colon wall 11 mm, and inflammation of ileum. He wanted to send me to special IBD hospital in Mexico City for MRI but it would have cost 2500$ so I decided to wait till I got home to Canada where it would be free. Treated me with antibiotics for IBS (only available in Mexico and Germany) Zero improvement. I lived off of electrolyte drinks.
-Jan 29th 2024 returned to hospital because I could not keep any oral meds in (pills would be in toilet) also pain was 9/10, high fever, vomiting. Admitted again, but no beds. Left AMA with another prescription for Entocort.
-Feb 12 2024- High fever followed by two days of 40 plus liquid BM's, some of them bloody, all of them black. Husband insisted back to ER where I was admitted immediately. Cortisol levels 11 (close to adrenal failure) very low potassium. Doc said if we'd waited I likely would have died from heart event. Spent 8 + weeks in hospital having every kind of test imaginable. NOTHING showed on MRI, inflammation on CT, lower scope clear, upper endoscopy showed inflammation in esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. Negative for H Pylori, negative for celiac. Started on 150 mg of hydrocortisone for low cortisol to rescue my organs. MRI of brain showed small tumour on pituitary. Endocrinologist did ACTH test and was unhappy, kept me on 40 mg of hydrocortisone IV. PICC line insertion went awry when they Discovered I had complete stenosis of veins and needed port catheter surgically implanted. Was on TPN for 5 weeks. Needed pain meds and anti emetics every 4 hours or severe vomiting and diarrhea would ensue. 30-50 liquid bm's continued (they made me write down everything I ingested and every time I had a BM. They tested me for everything. No blood, NO CDiff, no parasites, no infection. High fever 104.5 plus delirium and CRP shot up to 50. Continued Anemia, blood work all over the place, even with TPN I needed potassium and sodium boluses 3 times a day.
-Requested pill endoscopy, GI said no Crohn's, no need for test. Suggested psych evaluation for a fucking eating disorder. Endocrinologist disagreed, said starvation and whatever disease process was causing symptoms was causing my cortisol issue. Psych diagnosed medical PTSD and generalized anxiety disorder (no shit) but NO eating disorder. Fired GI and hired IBD specialist from another city. Re ran all tests, CT showed huge diverticulum on duodenum otherwise clear. Was going to be moved to a ward from a private room. Had a panic attack because I could not share a bathroom and was not about to use a commode. Asked to be discharged after nearly 9 weeks. They were so overcrowded and basically did not know what else to do to help me, so they let me go even though I was still on TPN and NPO. Got a 5 minute instruction on how to insert a butterfly catheter for pain meds, and let go.
-Present-3 weeks later, still on liquid diet, (Boost drinks, blended oatmeal, yoghurt and soup) still on sub q and IM meds. Finally got new IBD doc to order capsule endoscopy and is treating me for SIBO (never been tested) plus set me up with nutritionist and psychologist for support. MRI repeated- totally clear.
I FEEL CRAZY. This is the sickest I have ever felt. It's been almost a year since I chewed food. The pain under my ribs just to the left of my belly button is now constant, whether I eat or not, pain meds barely take the edge off. Sometimes it's so intense I can hardly breathe. I keep passing out on the toilet. I projectile vomit daily, even using Gravol and Pantoprozole, the bile acid is awful. I've been doing tons of research and have learned that GDC and Jejunal Crohn's are extremely hard to diagnose. I have every single symptom and fit the criteria. Does this sound familiar to anyone????

2024.05.14 05:02 idkhow2feelabtit Signed job offer yet still got rejected, feeling hopeless

I have 5 years of experience in IT management. Have a degree. Certifications. And I cannot find a job. I sent in 100s of applications and nothing.
I can't even get a minimum wage job. I've been applying for everything with tailored resumes. I just want to be able to pay my fucking bills and not go into debt.
Things were finally looking up. I got a job on the spot after an interview. I did a drug test, passed, signed offer paperwork and background check paper work.
A day later I get a rejection email. I'm going to call and email tmrw morning cuz I got it at the end of the day. But I feel like even hoping it was a mistake email is too much optimism. I can't do this anymore, if I can't even get a minimum wage job then what do I even do to survive. I can't even cry about it.
I actually do not know what I will do. I got no one to stay with. I have an expensive disability and am about to lose access to my health insurance bc no money to pay it. I'm on the very edge of just hurting myself.
If anyone else is going thru the same thing pls feel free to rant below, i just feel so hopeless and alone rn. If anyone has any tips or anything that is appreciated too :(

2024.05.14 05:01 equinox_games7 20m, asked to do 24 hr urine sample. Already afraid I screwed it up

I have hypertension and my cardiologist is trying to determine why, as such has asked me to do a 24 hr urine test, the one with the acid/preservatives in the bottle.
I waited for the right day to do it. I work and cannot take any more time off. So, as gross at it is, I've had to lug this jug around with me in my bag.
I have an appointment booked for a blood test tomorrow morning (only time they could get me in, had to take the morning off of work... ugh). So I decided to start collecting this morning, aiming to hand the urine in at the same time.
Discarded first pee at 7am. Have been collecting since then.
Just went to the bathroom, added to the jug and it SMELLS AWFUL. I could not stop gagging. Doesnt smell like any pee i've ever smelled. Thank god the smell goes away once I close the bottle.
So I look it up and everywhere is saying I should be refrigerating this. But like. I would have to take the entire day off work to do that, and all the collection centers near me are fing closed on weekends. So thats not really an option.
So what the hell am I supposed to do? Is this smell normal? Is the sample ruined?
How am I going to get this done?!

2024.05.14 04:45 AnonymousseJC Diagnosis made with no testing

I (49m) had my first trip to the urologist a couple of weeks ago, and I'm left with feelings of doubt as to her diagnosis.
I was referred to this Urologist by my GP after I found a lump on my testicle. The GP ordered an ultrasound and referred me to the urologist. Ultrasound found that the lump was a cyst and the pain in my other testicle was from a swollen, likely infected, epididymis.
The urologist visit was about a week later. The nurse took my vitals, asked if I could provide a urine sample, and I couldn't on the spot, so she said we would just get one before I left. The attending Dr asked a few questions and told me that it's common for men my age to have enlarged prostates, so he was going to prescribe flomax. Likely the swollen epididymis was from incomplete voiding due to the enlarged prostate. I asked if he was going to run any tests, and he said no. I asked if we were going to try to find out why it was enlarged, since it's only really been in the last 8 months that I've had the issue. Again, no; men's prostates just enlarge around this age and so, we just treat the symptom. I pressed again about testing and he said that the only really effective test was one that had a catheter in one end and a balloon in the other and it was rather extreme, since we could simply resolve the issue with the flomax. He did indicate that men should start getting PSA tests at 50, and so I will get one of those in 9 months when I turn 50.
He left, then came back with urologist that I booked the appointment with, and she said that she agreed with his diagnosis and felt nothing further was needed. When she directed me to the clerk for checkout I let her know that I wasn't able to provide a urine sample when I arrived, and still needed to do that. She said there was no need, so we would be doing any of that.
Am I wrong in feeling like maybe a root cause should be searched for? It just feels like I've been diagnosed with a case of being old and shitty.

2024.05.14 04:36 ZenithArmageddon Use free stratagem weapons for testing

Remember when we used to have free stratagems like the railgun at launch week and EATs a while ago? It’s been quite a while since we had any free stratagems.
Why not bring them back but for the newer unreleased weapons for the upcoming warbonds? This way players can actually try out the weapons and give feedback for balancing, and also allows it to showcase the new upcoming warbond.
Lore-wise they can claim it as “Super Earth R&D has released a new prototype weapon currently labeled as {insert name here} and needs volunteers to provide data for its development.”

2024.05.14 04:32 CrazyLi825 The Nation of Yuan

The Nation of Yuan
The Far East Empire of Yuan (ancient Yuanese: 優庵) is a nation encompassing the northeastern continent in Seidak.
https://preview.redd.it/8hpt5tuaxa0d1.png?width=1032&format=png&auto=webp&s=f055433cbfa1a330ca9911666bd6c556b4c4252b

History

Following the aftermath of The Great Cataclysm, the people of Yuan were mostly chaotic, scattered tribes. Their resources were drained and many were poor and starving. In 12NC, a nobleman by the name of Xiong Fang gathered up his men on a quest to lead Yuan to prosperity. He was a charismatic leader who quickly gained followers. By 15NC, he had officially claimed the title of Emperor and ruled over the continent, setting up capital in the southwestern city of Qimen.
Yuan gradually began to flourish under Emperor Fang’s rule as he gathered up workers to cultivate the land’s unique crops and focused heavily on fishing to have a wealth of food resources to trade. Fang’s family continued to rule each generation until 200NC with the death of Duan Yang. Emperor Yang did not have any male children and thus the new emperor was largely up for dispute. Later that same year, Chancellor Xian Bo declared himself the new emperor, taking over in Qimen.
In 201, General Liao Yu took over all of northern Yuan, setting up a capital in Rangawa and declaring himself the emperor. In 210, the leader of the southeastern territories of Yuan, Sun An, decided he was best suited as emperor. Southwestern Yuan became known as Imomushi, Southeast Yuan as the Gu territories, and Northern Yuan as Takai. These three areas quickly engaged in a heated power struggle, ruining much of the prosperity that was previously built up.
Sun An’s Gu army eventually forced the others into submission in 220, giving his family a brief rule over Yuan, though there was still resistance in many parts of the continent.
It was rumored that Sun An was backed by the Scion of the time, helping lead him to victory. However, it is also said that this Scion grew tired of the conflicts still present following the war and betrayed the people. This lead to Sun An’s untimely death, throwing the people into a period of chaos even greater than the previous one. It was at this point people of Yuan became mistrusting of the goddess. They began to believe that either the goddess did not exist at all, or if she did, she was no benefactor to them. As a result, all imagery worshipping her was torn down and burned. The people of Yuan began to put their trust in the Spirit Lord of Water, Arethia instead. They attributed the abundant sources of freshwater as the only reason they were able to survive the war-torn times.
In 260, Hiromasa Koide rose to power, taking over the Gu capital of Hao-Lin. He then went to work in properly unifying Yuan. Ever since then, the entire continent has officially been under the rule of a single monarch.

Architecture

Yuanese cities are fully paved except for very rural or poor areas. Stone is used for walkways and buildings alike with bamboo being common for roofs. Architecture is very elaborate and ornate as well as colorful. Bamboo shingles are often red or gold, symbols of power and wealth in Yuan. Indoor plumbing is common in cities with irrigation systems used for farmland.

Travel & Communication

They tend to use animal-drawn carriages for land travel. Mail is delivered through a postal network of nearly 2000 offices amongst the continent with relays every ten kilometers.

Magic & Technology

While the mage population of Yuan is relatively low, they have begun importing magitech devices from Ostley over the past decade to help in conveniences such as heating, cooling, refrigeration, and lighting.

Drinking Culture

Yuan produces a variety of rice wines, mostly used for celebrations and holidays. It's not uncommon for even children to be given small amounts of the weaker ones during certain events. Hard-working citizens will often indulge in alcohol after a day's work is done.

Government

Following its unification, Yuan became an Imperial Monarchy with absolute rule by a monarch. Power is passed by birth to the eldest eligible descent. Females are only eligible if there are no male descendants capable of taking the throne. In its history, only four empresses have ever ruled. The most recently of which is the current ruler, Noriko Tokugawa, whose husband was assassinated before they could have children.

Education

There are many types of schooling available in Yuan. In the capital city, Hao-Lin, there exists five national academies. All except for one are exclusive to aristocrats and nobility, charging high tuitions to be enrolled. In the center of the city, there is an imperial academy that accepts any children who test high enough and does not charge a fee for entry. These academies enroll children aged 12 through 17. Children of both genders are taught music, dance, calligraphy, and mathematics initially and later on, boys are taught archery and chariot driving while girls are taught silk production and weaving.
In other cities, smaller free public schools (as well as some tuition-based schools for nobles) are prevalent, enrolling children beginning age 7. These schools focused on basic skills of reading, writing, and calculation.

2024.05.14 04:31 disco_disaster Family member falsely diagnosed with terminal cancer, and went through chemotherapy.

One of my relatives went through chemotherapy for months on end, only to find out he was falsely diagnosed with terminal cancer.
He did have actual cancer a year prior, but it was surgically removed successfully.
A year later he had a medical emergency in another state, and the hospital biopsied what they expected to be cancerous tissue.
The report read as if it was cancer, but at the end it was concluded to be benign.
This information reached his oncologist back home, and she told him it was cancerous.
Unable to decipher the medical jargon of the report himself, he believed his doctor.
She ignored the conclusion indicating it was benign, and immediately put him through chemotherapy.
He was constantly sick by the chemotherapy, and it was causing him to deteriorate rapidly.
Near the end of the therapy, the doctor was acting extremely off putting, and had terrible bedside manner. This led him to get a second opinion.
After many tests, and a review of the initial findings, he was determined to be cancer free by the new doctors.
It’s all hard to believe.
Do you have any advice?

2024.05.14 04:30 voidllus Tips for Someone Who Wants to Enter LS? Anyone?

Hello! I'm an aspiring Law Student, hoping to start Law School this June! Recently I took a Law School Admission Test in a certain blue school and only got 42.86% of the answers right 😅 But I still got called in for interview so I guess I still have a chance to get in...? (I have heard it's all for formalities anyway, but still, I can't help but worry :<)
I'll be interviewed by the Asst. Dean this coming friday and before that, I was hoping to know if you guys know any possible questions that would arise and how do you think I should answer them?
Aside from that, can you guys recommend any tips, resources for someone who will (hopefully) enter Law School soon? Any study, recit answering methods, or books I should purchase to ready myself maybe? Just recently I bought a Law Dictionary from Rex Bookstore, as well as Legal Writing Plain and Simple by Ortiz, in hopes it would prepare me for the things that'll come!
I know a lot of ppl might tell me to take the time to indulge the free time I have left and relax, but to be frank with you I don't like coming unprepared, especially when I'm not academically excellent (possibly below average tapos nakatsamba lang in my undergrad course) 😞 I am aware Law School is a super tough thing to go through, even tougher than achieving my undergrad course!
Any comments, advice, resources are super appreciated!! Thank you soo much! Love lots po sainyo! 🩷

2024.05.14 04:30 djhazmatt503 Someone Al Pill Me On "Twitch"

Most of us know that With Sympathy was mostly a Ministry Vanilli situation, with the record execs basically writing/producing the album in hopes of making the next Joy Division.
Whenever he's asked about this era, he always bridges it with Land of Rape & Honey, i.e. "then I did Stigmata and the whole band came together" sentiment.
Twitch seems like the lost middle child, and seeing as how it got clumped into the stuff Ministry never performed live before this last show, I get how it fits in the Sympathy era, but a few things about this I don't understand.
For one, it's grimy industrial that aligns much more with Front 242 or early RevCo, especially the drum programming. Some song structures kind of have a Sympathy feel, but it's in no way danceable to the Joy Division crowd. I can't see this being a studio forced pop project.
Secondly, it's got more samples than a Skinny Puppy album, as in offbeat clips and random industrialish stuff. I would have no issue believing this is a Ministry album if I just got into the band today.
That said, it's barely mentioned in interviews and I just feel like there's nothing cringe about it, no goofy hooks or forced lyrics. Kind of like a guitar-free Rape & Honey.
Does anyone have Al's take on it? I get that Sympathy is like a bad ex and Honey is the first marriage, so is Twitch the rebound?

2024.05.14 04:25 Zhaohowmungdao Specsavers help

Am trying to sort a relative from abroad with an eye test & a pair specs am confused on the total cost. They've no PRSI so simply want to pay whatever it is but looking online provides no clear info on how much it costs since everyone & their mother opts for a free eyetest. €20 for a pair of glasses, but the eyetest could be anywhere from €30 for the bog standard test or up to €65 for the extra tests.
Anyone recently gotten an eye test that could comment which branch in Dublin would be ideal & how much a standard eye test is without PRSI? Cheers ❤
