Description: In the infernal depths of Hell, where it is divided by two powerful continents vying for control surrounded by a circling sea of lava and countless fortresses of beings unknown to the realms--the Magma Depths--young Kaiden Torchspire of House Satan of the Wrathlands finds out about the incoming invasion from the never-mentioned divine realm of Heaven. And so Torchspire decides to take action and goes on an expansive, definitely-long-term quest to unite the two continents so they can finally destroy Heaven. His journey begins with an untold fortress of the Magma Depths. Me, the writer, has always been fond of on the concept of turning real life concepts into a powerful fantasy series, and so, with inspiration from A Song of Ice and Fire I decided to turn Christianity into an epic fantasy universe.
Book #1: The Hellfire War
Chapter One: Blood Oath and Unexpected Visitors
"Our infernal realm is what keeps us going." said the dark-winged figure of dark crimson skin and a heavily-singed leather toga carrying multiple forms of weaponry, coldly. The figure's eyes were a dull dead gray, his pupils etched with a faint red-energy. He had snaky-like hair and both the claws on his bare feet and hands were raven-shaded and extremely sharp. This figure was Dreadwing Satan, of House Satan--the ruling governance of the Wrathlands. Dreadwing was apart of the main family within House Satan--that being Satan, obviously. The ruling house of the Wrathlands is divided by three families: the Satan family, the Lucious family, and the Torchspire family. "And so," began Dreadwing, his voice always consisting an icy and menacing quality, also with a hint of gruffness. "It is what binds the Realm of Torture together. And so, today we are enacting one of the Realm of Torture's most oldest traditions that symbolizes our determination to stand firm and fight against the ongoing flames of damnation and..." While the ruling figure of House Satan kept on going, one of the countless members of the audience--Kaiden Torchspire, of the Torchspire branch of House Satan--was feeling extremely anxious about the upcoming tradition. The Blood Oath.
Kaiden had the ordinary dull dead gray eyes, but his pupils was etched with a faint purple-energy. His raven-shaded slick hair was greasy and dirty, and his crimson skin etched with countless aching bruises--all of that probably coming from his training sessions in his house's fortress' central training room. His claws were a dull pale white, and he was wearing classical tattered demon clothes but had dark-steel shoulder pads. Kaiden's relationship with the Torchspire family always seemed like sort of a curse; since he had to go through endless and rigourous training. But he always thought to himself that he was being ungrateful; since his life was more lucky then then what the lower ranks of demons within the Realm of Torture always had the short-end-of-the-stick.
The Blood Oath was a tradition almost as ancient as Hell itself, maybe it was, but the specific timing of its creation is unknown to the infernal society. The Blood Oath was a special ritual; where they would get countless cups of blood through rigiourous fighting and offer it to the ancient Seven Princes of Hell--the original inhabitance of the infernal realm. And only the ruling Houses of Hell had to participate in this demonic cultural event.
"...And so," began Dreadwing Satan once again. "It is of great pleasure to me and the ruling demons of the Lucious branch and the Torchspire branch of House Satan, that we hereby start the Blood Oath ceremonial line of events by the Night of Stars as usual. A message to the demons of both Lucious origin and Torchspire origin; best of luck in the perils ahead."
To any normal person in the Human World those lasts couple of words would deeply frighten them; but to demons like Kaiden it did not--since it happens every year.
Kaiden sat on his bed-made-for-a-king and laid there for a long time; he only had five days until the Night of Stars--the night that begins the Blood Oath tradition. The Night of Stars was chosen because of its legendary happenings within it; that were the nighttime in the infernal depths of Hell became the exact same appearance as the nights of the Human World; raven-shaded, and filled to the brim with hundreds of thousands of small dots of bright light--stars. The Torchspire youngling got up from his bed and walked out the grand dark-wooden doors that were the entrance and exit of the his bedroom, and shutting them close behind them. It was time for his daily training session. He continued walking through the large halls of the Torchspire fortress to the center room; the Damnation, which was the training room of the fortress. When he reached the large stone doors leading to the Damnation, he opened them up with ease and walked in confidently. Inside the massive training room was countless tactical practice exercises; such as dummies, targets with countless arrows in it, and even some cages that had human souls, where demons would practice torturing; since that was the fundamental task of the Realm of Torture and the original intent for the creation of Hell, at least until the formation of the Refuge Lands. On the right side of the Damnation was tall and slightly-muscular demon; his body of dark crimson, his raven-shaded hair greasy and dirty just like Kaiden's, and had the same exact pale white claws on both his barefeet and hands. He also had the same tattered leather clothes of demons, but were less tattered since he hasn't been as much training sessions after those new clothes were made. And he wore hard-steel shoulder pads similar to Kaiden's. This demonic figure was Kaiden's older brother; Domino Torchspire. He was also his partner-in-training. Kaiden walked towards the older Torchspire and when he reached him, Domino turned around and grinned as he saw his younger brother. Kaiden could see his gray eyes that were etched with the same faint purple-energy. "You're late, Kai." Shut up, you big oath. Kaiden thought to himself and then grinned. "Well, at least I wasn't too late that our father had to punish me by "means of unjustness."" Kaiden smirkingly remarked, since he was referencing what happened the day before. Domino frowned at his comment. "Shut up, Kaiden. Father would never punish his heir." "Yeah well, we'll see about that-" Kaiden never got to finish that remark when the grand doors of the Damnation flew upon and Kaiden and Domino's father burst in, his skin the casual dark crimson, had tattered leather robes, raven-shaded greasy hair, his claws on his feet and hands a pale white, and his eyes was an unusual dark-gray color, but still had the faint purple energy in his pitch-black pupils. Behind their father--Blackwood Torchspire--was a few dozen demon guards, that were covered in hard-steel armor. Their father turned to them and then began walking towards them, and then began speaking with his casual gruff but cold voice. "Domino, Kaiden, it would seem we have unexpected visitors. It's the Dull." The young and older Torchspire's eyes widened with surprise; since visits from the Dull. Of course, most demons knew of the Dull; they were the main unit of enforcement in the Realm of Torture. Their elite order was founded at the time right after the disappearance of the Seven Princes, and were known throughout the infernal depths as the most capable enforcement team in the Realm of Torture. The Dull are also known for their unparalleled mercilessness and an alarming will to vanquish any being that retaliates and gets in the way of their tasks. But now, presumably, they have come to the fortress of one of the three families of House Satan, one of the ruling governance forces in the Realm of Torture.

Around the 2010's there was this video made by the US military that made predictions about the future of warfare.
It's started with a quote that I think was by Albert Einstein that went "Giving humanity nuclear weapons is like giving a serial killer an axe."
Then it shows a line graph charting human progress. It's climbing exponentially. On the x axis are various human achievements starting with the Wright Brother's first flight and going all the way into today with the internet.
There was also a scene where the men's restroom symbol guy is holding up a smart phone. The camera zooms out to show millions of men's restroom symbol guys holding up smartphones. Then it zooms out more and all these men blend into a North Korean flag. Then the bottom of the flag catches fire and three men in bio hazard suits are overlaid the flag and fire.
There's also a scene where a hexagon appears and in three corners labels for the classic battlefields of yore (land, air, sea) appear. In the other three corners labels for the three new battlefields of the future fade in slowly (cyber, nano, psycho).
I believe it was the Air Force that produced this and it was from a department called "The Department of Future Predictions" or something like that.
It made a bit of a splash in the alt media when it was released but for the life of me I cannot find a trace of it now.

It's started with a quote that I think was by Albert Einstein that went "Giving humanity nuclear weapons is like giving a serial killer an axe."
Then it shows a line graph charting human progress. It's climbing exponentially. On the x axis are various human achievements starting with the Wright Brother's first flight and going all the way into today with the internet.
There was also a scene where the men's restroom symbol guy is holding up a smart phone. The camera zooms out to show millions of men's restroom symbol guys holding up smartphones. Then it zooms out more and all these men blend into a North Korean flag. Then the bottom of the flag catches fire and three men in bio hazard suits are overlaid the flag and fire.
There's also a scene where a hexagon appears and in three corners labels for the classic battlefields of yore (land, air, sea) appear. In the other three corners labels for the three new battlefields of the future fade in slowly (cyber, nano, psycho).
I believe it was the Air Force that produced this and it was from a department called "The Department of Future Predictions" or something like that.
It made a bit of a splash in the alt media when it was released but for the life of me I cannot find a trace of it now.

Hello and welcome to a very special installment of The Great Spice Off! What is The Great Spice Off?
I love the scent of Old Spice, so much so that it's the only aftershave I use as I don't really feel a need to splash anything else on. But, as we all know, Old Spice no longer makes shaving soap. They do still make a cream but that's hardly a great soap and it doesn't actually smell like Old Spice. As such my plan is to test out all the Old Spice options that are out there on as many bases as possible both to try out a variety of bases from different soapmakers and to report back to you on who really nails the scent.
I'll be shaving three times with each soap, using a variety of brushes and razors, and blades. Yes, I know that means it won't be exactly scientific but this is going to take a while and I want to use all my other shit too. Soaps will be rated on a few factors and given points from 1-5 for each.
Record Scratch. Double Take. Wuuuuuuuh!???
So you're asking yourself what the heck is an Old Spice LE. Well, despite what most think, Old Spice has had many scents over the years and almost none of them are riffs or new twists on their original Old Spice scent. Old Spice, the company/brand, made a plethora of scents throughout the history of producing Old Spice that, while all fell in the kind of old fashioned scenting category, had nothing to do with what we think of as Old Spice. Old Spice LE was one of these scents. From the dating I can find online, it was released sometime in the early 90s and stuck around for a chunk of that decade and possibly into the 2000s. It's also possible it was a scent released every couple of years as I can see a few different bottle versions. I don't actually know that much about it, have never smelled the original myself, and the Internet is not actually full of Old Spice product history let alone a defunct aftershave from the early 90s.
Whatever the history, what appears to be consistent is that it came in a clear bottle and was called Limited Edition. It also featured a base of amber, cedar, and woods with supporting notes of cardamom, lavender, moss, and jasmine, and citrus top notes. As you can see, aside from the citrus, it doesn't have all the much in common with Old Spice but that hasn't stopped a fragrance seller from selling a dupe of the discontinued scent for those who may still be looking for it. And so, there are soapers out there who pick this scent up for whatever reason instead of actual Old Spice. Actually, there are only two and Crowne & Crane are the only ones I can find doing it intentionally (more on that in a future review). They're also naming it The Spice, which is a little misleading considering the only spice scent in it is cardamon and given the lavender, citrus, and moss present its clearly intended to be somewhat of a fougère. The Spice, I think we can all agree, is not the name anyone would give a fougère.
So why then am I even reviewing it? That is like asking why do people climb Everest? Why do athletes push their body to the extremes? Why does the woodchuck chuck wood? If these questions could be answered then perhaps I could answer why I am reviewing this. But they can't be.
Crowne & Crane was founded in 2016 by Karl and Liz, whose last names I can't find so we'll call them Karl Crowne and Liz Crane. Karl was an enthusiast it looks like before going into the ol' soapmaking business and, being founded pre-2020, is officially an ol' timer in the artisan soap industry. Despite that longevity they aren't really all that popular around these parts with u/PhilosphicalZombie and u/loudmusicboy literally being the only two folks who appear to use them regularly if at all. I'd say that's maybe because they're not just a shave soap company but Stirling isn't either so that logic kind of flies out the window. Then again, we're a bunch of grown men and women telling other people how we removed hair from our bodies on a daily basis. Logic means nothing here.
Crowne & Crane have two bases, vegan and tallow. Most of their soaps are in tallow only and that's what The Spice comes in so that's what we're working with here. Of note is a commitment to organic, humanely-raised cows for the beef tallow, which is always a plus in my book (and sustainably sourced palm oil). The soap itself is kind of dry and chalky, not in a bad way and it wasn't hard or falling apart. It's a soft, dry soap, which are not contradictory things. The base is made up of Potassium Tallowate, Sodium Tallowate, Potassium Stearate, Sodium Stearate, Aloe Vera Juice, Potassium Cocoate, Sodium Cocoate, Phthalate-Free Fragrance, Potassium Shea Butterate, Sodium Shea Butterate, Kokum Butter, Sodium Lactate, Glycerin, Lanolin, Tussah Silk. Nothing to much to comment on here except I can't stop saying the word tussah over and over in my head. It's a weird word and now it doesn't feel real I've said it so much. Tu... ssah. Tooo suuuhhh...
The labeling is a nice vintage boat symbol, which, again, is a bit misleading given the LE branding was very much a modern (for the 90s) Old Spice look, not the classic schooner branding of the OG Old Spice. If you weren't paying attention (*cough* me *cough*) you might just order this thinking you got an Old Spice dupe and open the lid to find you most assuredly did not. Well, open the lid is a bad description as I bought their 3 oz puck option instead of the 5 oz jar and it came wrapped in paper. 3 oz, by the way, is a great mid-price option that gives you more than a tiny sample but not a full plastic tub. I'd be perfectly happy to have other shaving companies offer this... please... please... there's so much soap under my sink. So... much... soap.
(Sidenote: if you are looking to get their soaps, do it quick as they're going on hiatus during a move in two days!)
Oldness: 0
As a scent not designed to smell like Old Spice this one knocks it out of the park. In fact, it does such a great job not smelling like Old Spice I'd put it up there with some of the greatest scents that don't smell like Old Spice ever made. Have a scent that doesnt's smell like Old Spice that you love? This one smells as much not like Old Spice as that one does! If you're looking for something that doesn't smell like Old Spice but has the word Spice featured in its name and the words "Old" and "Spice" in the description next to each other than this is the soap for you.
Spiciness: 3
This is actually a pretty solid scent even if its called The Spice but isn't really a spicy scent at all. It's definitely a vintage scent, though, and reminds me a bit of Seaforth! Spiced but not as good. Because of that I'm going to say that it still captures a bit of that classic feel that Old Spice gives you even if its a scent from the 90s, a decade that has yet to fall into the "classic" zone and thus still feels like everything from it was cringe (including teenage me).
Lather: 5
What an absolutely brilliant lather The Spice kicks up. From the moment water hits it turning it into a thick prot-lather to the gloriously shiny conclusion, it's just a pleasure to lather. The soap is super thirsty, which can often lead to some dialing issues but I never had those aside from having to add a lot of water to both my larger scoop shave and my medium scoop. You don't need a lot of soap to get this going big and it's really easy to get there and looks great the entire time. If you were going to make an ad about shave soap -- as we all dream to do -- and needed a pretty lather to build up this would be a great choice.
Shave: 3
The Spice offers an incredible cushion of soap that can tackle even the most aggressive razor, making it feel barely there on your skin. However, it is, at best, mid-tier on its slickness with limited residual slickness too. As I reduced the amount of soap I used on each shave I figured I'd eventually hit a lather that was both full of cushion and slickness, but even on my final shave with the least amount of lather I wasn't too impressed with the glide provided. There's slickness there, it's not like dragging some sort of pillowy sandpaper over your face or anything but despite the copious amounts of water I added it never truly peaked.

The Spice's Old Spice LE scent isn't exactly complimentary with either my Indian Old Spice for the vintage one. It's not an afront to the nostrils or anything (sometimes I picture what nostrils being afronted would look like and it weird me out) but it ain't great. It probably plays a bit better with the more floraly vintage spice if I was forced to choose one by some deranged wet shaving person forcing people to shave with stuff. The soap also left my skin feeling a little sticky for some reason, like there was a layer of it still on there. That dissipated quickly but it was an odd sensation.
Final Verdict: 13
Crowne & Crane might be one of my favorite soaps to lather as it's easy to do, looks fantastic, lathers big, and just drinks up the water. It's just kind of fun working it into a lather and for someone who appreciates the process of wetshaving that's a big deal. The shave doesn't quiet live up to the lather, though, despite some really great cushion. Where it really disappoints is the post shave where it not only still doesn't smell like Old Spice (even if it was never trying to) but also left my face feeling a little icky. No one likes an icky face, just ask.

- Oldness: How much does the soap smell like OG Old Spice. This is the more analytical scent analysis and I'm comparing to an OG Old Spice aftershave I have and the Shulton aftershave from India.
- Spiciness: This is the je ne sais quois of Old Spice. Does the soap make me feel the nostalgia, warmth, and whatever it is about the scent that works. Is there something special about it that makes it stand out? Does it invoke a memory or make a new one? The most subjective of this list.
- Lather: You know, can I make a shave soap out of it.
- Shave: How's it work on the ol' face while shaving.
- Post: How's the scent profile after the event. How does my face feel.

What follows is the story of a Wormholer Eviction, with all its ups and downs and unexpected twists, as told from my perspective as a Director in Vapor Lock.
What is special about this one is that we evicted a group of Swastika-lovers (I can see your eyes rolling).

The Premise
I want to introduce you to a group living out of J141425 who we’ll just call Normans.
At its core were the corporations Horny Police Department, Haven Enjoyers, Interstellar Realm, a few other corporations, and a fair number of individuals from better-known corporations who spent much time here.
This group is immensely fond of putting Swastikas and references to the 1940s Chancellor of Germany on many of their ships, their POSes, every single POS gun, and on their evictions where they make a huge swastika out of mobile depots.

We are not keen on evictions, but after wandering into this system, it is hard to just shrug at this insult to Bob and decency. We soon decided to look into the possibility of removing these people and their assets from J-space, with no option for ransom.
Eavesdropping in their home hole (C4 3/5) for a few days, we got a good feel for their numbers and assets. We called this hole Normandy. We figured we could do this eviction with some planning and solid effort.
The Assault (Day 1)
We infiltrated on Thursday @ 1700 without any resistance and anchored two POSes - one incompetently, and another after a quick refresher on POS mechanics.
Opting for a Nighthawk and Basilisk fleet, we bashed their Astrahus and Athanor together with a flock of Oracles. As smooth as our initial infiltration went, we still managed to be a few minutes late on the bash and created a 3 day timer ending Sunday 1900, instead of a 2 day timer as intended.
As if two days of hole control (HC) isn’t tedious enough, to make matters worse: Sunday was Mother’s Day in most of the West, but not in Russia, where virtually all the residents are from.
Nonetheless, we pressed on, another structure lesson learned.
Starting hole control we immediately roll out one of their main scanners and links pilot. Shockingly, this was achieved by our corp elder who has a track record of rolling out friendlies and consequently receiving internal bounties on being rolled out himself in return. We agreed he would now once again be trusted to roll wormholes at home.
Bashing their POS using the Oracles took from late US TZ to an hour before DT. The pilot of the Oracles having gone to bed many hours before and handed off his oracle flock to a squad leader in a cloaky, ready to warp them off, as a real bashing shepherd does.

On Friday we had a quick skirmish with a third party but other than that it remained uneventful.
To keep spirits high we threw a Discord slumber party complete with a screening of a motivational film - an obvious Tarantino classic.
The Counter-Attack (Day 2)
Saturday morning around 0830 the Normans decided to contest our HC - run by a few sleep-deprived door stoppers - and forced us to crash all of the connections.
After ten minutes of the Normans first showing activity, their batphones and the rest of the Normans start infilling with a wide variety of ships via the new C3 static. With frantic pinging we tried to form to reestablish HC. But by the time we landed their batphones’ tackle wing was already streaming in with more following behind. We lost eight ships in the process before we disengaged and delivered the bad news to everyone as they slowly woke up.

Their total numbers climbed rapidly to 70+ from batphones and their group’s stragglers and rollouts, outnumbering us significantly by the time they start to bash our POSes.
We do the only thing we can do at this point and start batphoning some of our friends in the hopes we’ll be able to reclaim HC during USTZ when all the Russian groups are themselves sleepy.
Unsurprisingly, we become demoralized by the rapidly increasing numbers the Normans and their batphones now have on us. Some small relief was found when the ref timer of our main POS exceeded their structure timers, giving us a window to continue our eviction. Our previous miscalculation in creating a 3 day timer became a surprising blessing.
Still, it was not looking good for us and our reduced force, boxed in and outnumbered significantly.
The Batphone Plot Twist
The first wave of their batphones consisted primarily of Hold My Probes/Scan Stakan, Tricky Situation, and a few smaller groups.
Our FC mistakenly accepts a convo by someone who appeared to be a friend, but turned out to be a representative from Hold My Probes/Scan Stakan. They inquired as to why we’re evicting these people.
We showed him all the details and soon afterwards, diplos from the other batphones contacted us as well. We shared the same information we had gathered during our recon and occupation. After some initial shock, all the major batphones leave in disgust and fully disavow the residents of Normandy.
Real credit to Hold my Probes, Tricky Situation, and others for abandoning a group who condones and LARPs Normandism.
They showed sincere conviction and gave up what would be at least a decent fight, entirely for the sake of their principles, and that’s worth emphasizing and congratulating.
Simultaneously, our own batphones eagerly wished to contribute to their eviction. However, all of this still hinges on whether we can reassert Normandy HC in USTZ against the now-full membership of the Normans+ whatever batphones remain. We wait until it is past midnight in Moscow and make our attempt.
With a heavy show of force we manage to reclaim HC without much resistance or rollout games.
In Friendship We Trust (Day 3)
Soon we managed to create secure connections to High-Sec and Low-Sec to bring both our batphoned friends in and more of our corpies.
Small groups of people from a number of different corporations came to help us out to maintain HC and finish up our operation. Without their timely contributions our operation would likely have failed.
Sugar, Noir, Hole Control(alliance), OnlyHoles, 745, and Lupus, each had their representatives at this point, putting in effort to maintain HC.
Inevitably it was contested again around the same time as the day before. Another round of frantic pinging but with better turnout this time and including some of our friends. We manage to significantly reduce the mass on the connection and only let an Eos multiboxer in.

Despite taking some losses in the first round - and swearing off cap-chain logistics in the future - we manage to regroup and go for round two, forcing one marauder to roll himself out, destroying the Eos multiboxer, and scattering the rest.
After this there were only some wormhole scanning games. The normans moved what assets they could into deep safes, self-destructed some ventures, and did not do much else of note.
The End of Normandy
For the final timer Kitchen Sinkhole and Loose Coalition had each promised a fleet, and once they arrived along with yet more infills for the timer from many other groups, our joint fleet had ballooned to an incredible 100+ ships on grid.
There was no contest.
Some fighters were launched and killed.
Silly docking games were played, T1 Yeets died as they inevitably do.
Comms were whimsy and jolly - not least because they were mistakenly kept on voice-activated and we just winged it - but somehow it all was fun and entertaining for everyone in spite of it being a plain structure bash.
Inevitably both the Astrahus and the Athanor go poof to much cheering.
Conclusion
If there is one thing to conclude from this eviction, it is that people will always band together to fight the threat of hatred. The out-of-place instances of symbolism we saw in J-Space throughout this op served to galvanize our forces and opposition alike. Thank you sincerely to our old friends, new friends and fellow capsuleers for heeding the call.
