my soulmate
the most loving, intelligent, talkative, easygoing, patient, well-tempered, cuddly, curious, and most BEAUTIFUL cat i’ve ever had the privilege of having in my life. the kind of cat who waits for you by the door everyday when you come home from work. your own little shadow that follows you from room to room. the kind of cat who watches you open doors and then teaches himself how to open them in a house with old, loose doorhandles 15 years ago and still attempts it to this day. i got him when he was 5 weeks old from some random house down the street that had “free kittens” posted on a flyer outside my old apartment. i was 17 and living on my own for the first time. he was and always has been my soulmate. he’s 16 and a half years old now and i’m dreading the day his life will inevitably come to an end. no cat will ever come close to him or the bond that we have. he’s been right there with me through the last few years of my teens, the treacherous decade of my 20s, and midway through my 30s (side note: best years ever so far). here is a picture of my fiancé falling in love with my (now our) cat when we all first moved in together. the first cat he’s ever had. our sweet boy ♥️

2024.05.14 16:11 MilieMimie Respectful punchlines and reply strategies

The goal of this discussion is to find the best ways to respond to people who believe you don’t need dysphoria to be trans. But maybe, it could be useful for those of us who face transphobia in their day to day life.
I had the idea of this thread regarding the fact people have made a video targeting this sub.
STRATEGIES
1st of all, I think it’s very important to stay calm and respond respectfully. This way, we are showing them a mature behavior.
2nd, for me it’s important to point out the incoherence of their speech. They will not answer constructively but with some personal attacks or not at all. So we have to stick to the point and avoid responding to the attacks.
3rd, in my point of view, being factual is also a good way to push their ideology in its own limits.
Last but not least, maybe we should find a more respectful way to designated them (outside of this sub) instead of fetishists, trenders, tucutes and so on. It’s hard because it’s the truth for some but it will obliterate our points as they will focus on such word. So why not calling them “transgenderists” ?
Bonus, if we can have them lose their mind while being respectful, factual and consistent, they will decredibilize themselves.
RESPECTFUL PUNCHLINES
1) Sorry I’ve not understood LGBTQIAA2SP+ is all the same letter ? 2) Xenopronouns are more pertinent than the word transsex ? 3) Your labels are valid but not mine ? 4) Then I can be a cat, right ? 5) I remember I’m 8 yo now. 6) I’m pretty sure I’m black, I feel it. 7) Transgender wanting to be blend with transsexuals is clearly not a minority appropriation, sure ! 8) Why your feelings value more than those of others ? 9) How could you feel so insecure to admit some people have transsexualism but you ? 10) When a minority is not allowed to talk about its living experience, it’s called discrimination. 11) Should we also stop recognizing any other difference ? 12) You know anyone can adopt any gender expression no matter the sex or gender ? 13) Who said some people value more than others ? 14) Why some differences have to be said and other silenced ? 15) How do you explain surgeries have to be paid by insurances if it’s not medically necessary ?
Here above are just some ideas and my point of view. Please feel free to share your opinion, your strategy as well as your punchlines (respectful or not you decide).

2024.05.14 15:59 Longjumping-Night707 AI Utilization in PD Work?

I was curious if any public defenders are incorporating AI into their practice. The reason I ask is because I am an attorney (transactional background -- it sucks, but pays the bills) and I recently had to deal with a somewhat complex New York Family Court motion involving issues that didn't have a vast number of appellate cases, but enough to establish clear legal precedents and demonstrate that I was being railroaded by this fucking Family Court system. Unfortunately, I was unable to afford the retainer fees that other attorneys demanded and was struggling to find representation. I had reached out to numerous law firms and nonprofits, but they were either not accepting new cases, denied my case, or the attorneys were retired or in the process of retiring. This specific area of Family Court law leaves out a large portion of people who can't pay a $20k retainer or make too much to get representation through the nonprofits.
Given the circumstances, I decided to prepare the best possible motion on my own. I had a template for the filing format, but needed additional case law support to strengthen my arguments/facts. That's where Claude came in. I provided Claude with hundreds of cases and instructed it to extract any arguments that were relevant to my case and had similar fact patterns. Since I didn't have access to Family Law on Westlaw or guidance in NYC, I used Judy Records, Google, and Casetext for most of my research. I repeated the feeding of relevant cases for all the other issues I wanted to address in the motion.
Using the summary generated by Claude, I then guided the AI in drafting the motion, directing it to incorporate case law and citations that supported my arguments from point X to point Y in the argument section. The first draft was somewhat shit and veered all over the place, but it had great arguments and support. I went through and rewrote things paragraph by paragraph to get things more concise. Overall, the process took me a few weekends to figure out the law behind the Family Court Act that my case was under since there were a lot of nuances, but most of those nuances were explained in guidance online or appellate cases.
I am well aware of the previous instances where attorneys relied on GPT for court filings, despite the well-known fact that GPT had a propensity to make shit up (hallucinate, as they call it). If you asked GPT for a case about a race car driver who murdered 10 poodles, it would miraculously provide a case with those exact details. The bigger problem, in my opinion, is that we should have been shown the OJ video about Shepardizing or given similar warnings during our FIRST year of law school, which makes me question the overall competence of those attorneys.
However, with the advancements in AI, citation issues are no longer a major concern. Out of the approximately 15 cases cited in my motion, there were only two that I couldn't initially locate. I later discovered one of the citations in a practice guide I had uploaded, even though the case was not easily accessible online. The other citation was inaccurate because I felt it didn't fully support my argument, and the case, in general, was very unfavorable to me as the Respondent.
After years of battling with Family Court, I finally prevailed in my motion -- and AI wrote 80% of my motion, helped with other filings, and scrubbed all the cases for information that was relevant. Also, I was able to take a crash course in this specific area of family law, which is just a weird but not too robust area of law.
I believe AI holds a lot of potential for handling the backend work in public defender offices, freeing up PDs to focus on other critical aspects of their cases and have an assistant that helps them with all aspects of a case, including reminders and updates. (The Microsoft AI sucks, btw. Do not let your offices get it or I think you will be very disappointed in the abilities of AI.) The potential for efficiency for PDs to handle their cases a little more easily seems great, but I wanted to get input on what others think.
Going through this whole process has been a real eye-opener for me, making me realize just how fucking ridiculous the NY state family courts are, just like all those articles have been saying. On the bright side, it felt pretty damn good to legally slap the shit out of the Petitioner after all the crap they've put me through. When the Petitioner responded to my motion, they didn't even bother using a single legal case or precedent to back up their argument. Instead, they resorted to attacking my misuse of a word a couple of times. AI and I whipped up a response in just a couple of hours, calling out how desperate it is to nitpick word usage in a pro se filing when they clearly don't have any legal support for their position. Man, I wish I could dish out these kinds of smackdowns in my day-to-day work.
It's about time I change jobs and do something that lets me legally fight against these bullshit systems instead of helping douchebag companies buy and sell each other. I enjoyed the writing battle and how I knew my shit by the time I appeared for that motion. It feels great to finally have won this bullshit battle, and I wouldn't have been able to write and research so quickly without AI (Claude, specifically, as GPT didn't work well for legal writing or case citations, with a little bit of help from the Gemini AIStudio version).
Ok... that's my long, throwaway account post. I hope others begin taking advantage of AI. Thank you for all the work you do! Hopefully I can transition to something more aligned with PD work or reforming this fucked up NY family court.

Hi! I posted here about a week or 2 ago but deleted the post because I thought I used a different pattern, but now I know I didn't. so I've been crocheting on and off for a few months and i finally made a rose about 2 weeks ago, and it came out really well and i was so happy with it i made about 6-8 more but none of the others came out to the same size/amount of petals even though I've checked the pattern so many times ( and I am using the same hook and yarn ) that I can do it off the top of my head( this is the pattern: https://youtu.be/wjvJ5w9dsrw?si=Mp0WxxMS8TW5ac06 ) yet they never come out the same as the first rose. My first rose had 19 petals and the new ones only have 9, yet I've made the roses so many times so I'm not sure how this is happening, can anyone help? personally I don't want to make those roses with the gaps in each petal so i haven't switched patterns but if anyone has any good patterns ( that are free obviously ) could you please send them to me or help figure out why this keeps happening?

Hi:
Disclaimer: Yes, I know there is a grid pattern maker out there. I don't want that, it's too difficult for my I don't geometry or maths brain. I also hate grids. And no, I don't need any tips on how to overcome that, thanks.
Ok, that out of way, is any place where you can hire a free lance designer to draft a wall hanging from a piece of art work my friend painted?

2024.05.14 15:20 Diribiri Looking for a replacement for my old phone

From a post I made a few days ago elsewhere:
I just want something simple that's up to date. No folding gimmicks, I don't need AI or a 40 bajillion megapixel triple camera. I might do a bit of gaming on it, but only very light stuff like ARGs or idlers. I'd also prefer something with minimal bloatware. Also nothing super slim
So basically something very functional and midrange that I can use to browse stuff, use apps, call people (obviously) and take photos of my cats, and not have to worry about buying a new phone for a long time.
I'm in Australia. I don't know a budget. Under 600 AUD I guess? There's a lot of phones out there, and it's hard to tell which ones just have a lot of fluff to pad out the price or seem 'premium.' I'm slowly going through models but any recommendations will save me time and be much appreciated
My current phone is a 2016 Oppo A57, it still works but barely any apps are supported anymore and I want something new before it dies. The one suggestion I got is the Pixel 8a, which is apparently largely free of bloatware and will be supported for a while, but it is quite expensive, and I'm not sure how much of that is branding.
Are there any other good options? I'm reading stuff about like the Pixel 7A or the Samsung A35/52s having poor battery life and heat problems so I'm not sure. I don't need a lot of out the phone, but I can't afford to demo several models, so I'm hoping there's a hassle-free cheaper option that'll last a while

2024.05.14 15:17 ru_moo Free Feed to Schedule Meals during Intro Stage

I have a 1 1/2 y/o female (spayed) cat and am trying to introduce her to a 4-month-old (intact - waiting to be neutered) male. It's day 2 and we're doing the isolation for a week or 2. From what I'm reading, the best way to help with the intro is to feed the cats at the door. My resident cat has been free-fed (she picks - great weight) so she is not entertaining eating at the door. I do want there to be a schedule as it's healthier but I'd like to have suggestions to help make this work. Any ideas to help with schedule meals and intros?

2024.05.14 15:09 FirebirdWriter Post Surgery Mental Healthcare

I know I keep saying this in comments but I'm having a bad day in the PTSD front. I will be fine. I do have therapy and a lifetime of coping skills but I want to make sure people who are preparing see this.
If possible make sure your after surgery care includes mental health. There's a lot of things that can trip various mental health care needs. While today is being extra rough there's been tons of little ones and if I hadn't prepared it would be harder.
So to prepare?
  1. Make sure your support system knows you're about to be vulnerable, have hormonal changes, and that surgery is trauma. Physically but emotionally. It's scary. If it isn't that is actually not good for the mental health later (it's me my brain did this).
  2. If you have access and aren't seeing someone set up therapy. I guestimated for me a month out and to the day that is when my brain decided to go "Here's the trigger wagon full of things to relive and hyper vigilance is going to be even worse than directly after!" How fast after surgery will vary but in case you're not sure about being able to go? Telehealth options exist because of the pandemic so it's just a different place than other therapy options.
  3. The good days are going to be wonderful. The bad will be emotionally hard. This isn't just because surgery is trauma but s mixture of the medication side effects, hormonal changes, and the changes to our bodies. It's a lot.
  4. How bad it can get is individual. If you're struggling immediately after remember that there's options. For the USA there is the new emergency line for mental health 988. This doesn't mean only life and death stuff and there's a lot of variety in what they can do. So they can be a good option for the gap between surgery and care.
  5. Remember you are not alone. I am bad at sharing my pain or I was. That's changed with good mental health care and a good support system. I still struggle with feeling like I have to hide this stuff. Like mentioning it is a bad thing. It makes it easier to reframe so it's not an insurmountable thing.
Some options I am not sure where to put. I set up a group chat during the pandemic with my closest people (partner, chosen family, best friend). It's the Ventspace. We were all struggling for obvious reasons. I was actually the best off and I am on SSI for my PTSD. The rules for the Ventspace? Only go into it if you have the mental health room to support the person needing it. This way there is a consent aspect vs trauma dumping. It's usually an immediate response but it's still giving everyone a buffer if their own stuff is too big. Sometimes it's just "Don't read this" followed by a scream into the void of pain. Sometimes it's everyone having hard times but supporting each other. This is part of surviving the pandemic while being terrified I wouldn't survive not from Covid (actually never gotten it) but from my uterus and the 7 year hemmoragh. I needed transfusions and it's very much part of the brain weasels going off. We each have found there's stuff we cannot put there. Limits exist and that's why therapy. I refuse to irrevocably scar my chosen family for life and certainly can with my trauma. I just also don't want my partner to see me in that space. There's no shame for that but a genuine concern about the effects on their mental health and mine if I say it. I have barely begun to word those things to my therapist. This is why I have one
The brain weasels are the other hard to categorize thing. I didn't have access to therapy for most of my life. I was diagnosed with PTSD at age 4 during my parents divorce and things got worse from there. I didn't actually feel happiness until I was in my 20s. That's when I got a therapist. The brain weasels come from that time but have been vital for coping and helpful for my chosen family too.
Brain weasels are the personification of the things we tell ourselves or the repetition of things we were told that aren't actually true and are harmful. "I'm worthless." That's a mild example. Sometimes for me the brain weasels are even the exact sound of my parents' voices. The ones that are less obvious are harder to manage but imagining them as the cartoon weasels from Who Framed Rodger Rabbit helps a ton. As does imagining facts as giant cartoon hammers that they get beaten with.
Say my brain goes to tell me that it's my fault my carer got into a car accident because I experimented with not doing an ocd ritual and unluckily they were in the accident. The ritual being supposed to prevent that means my brain is going to lie and terrorize me. So I will first try on my own to call the brain weasel out. If I had that much power over everything nothing bad would exist. That's not reality. Things like that. If that doesn't work I will ask for help with the brain weasels in the vent space and lay everything out. Usually doing this helps working past the moment because I can see how the brain weasel isn't an accurate reflection of reality but part of my OCD issues. From there it's looking at what I need to do to cope, what can I control, what is safe coping.
By the end the brain weasel is thoroughly crushed and while it may come back later I am not just okay/fine but usually feeling empowered because of the reality of what I can control. If not empowered I am at least not trapped in that anxiety cycle. This is a real example. The ritual is small but when I leave or someone leaves my company I have to say as the last thing "Drive safely." Which is half the thought. Drive safely because no one else will. It used to be a lot worse than two words but that's part of the process too.
I know I'll be fine in part because of the process and years of practice but with the PTSD? We already survived that. Our brain dragging us through time is uncomfortable, painful, and horrible but we're not actually in that danger and we survived. The pain is valid and real. We deserve comfort and care. It doesn't stop the pain but we aren't actually there.
Sometimes this reminder has to come after because my brain doesn't always let me know that. This is why I appreciate my cat being a chaos goblin with my PTSD. He didn't exist so why is there purring and cuddling of a giant kitten involved? So if you're new to PTSD or struggling with it and can? Try to keep something you can touch around that didn't exist and it may interrupt the process.
The other thing is our trauma responses exist to keep us alive. PTSD isn't just being terrorized forever. It is pattern recognition at its worst. Something poked the subconscious bear. That something might be a threat. So the brain trying to prepare for surviving again is going to go through the bad shit so we are ready. It's supposed to make it easier to spot the threat. Our brains went overboard like me reciting the entire history of Batman with maximum autism styling.
Those are things I figured out as coping before therapy but refined with. I know I am not alone. I know that someone may need this. If it's you? Don't feel obligated to comment if you're not up for being vulnerable. I do understand that happens and I wouldn't want you pushing yourself to reassure me. If you can? Add your coping suggestions too.

2024.05.14 15:04 Important-Box-8316 My 4 year journey trading Qullamaggie's breakout setup

My 4 year journey trading Qullamaggie's breakout setup
Hello,

I thought I would share the journey I have taken in following Qullamaggie, and the various paths I have explored. The sole purpose is to offer some suggestions which I hope you find useful, and to highlight things which I have discovered along the way that really helped me out.
This is simply a selection of things I have discovered and advise which I would have benefited from when I first started out. I hope you find it helpful.

My background:
Background in finance, started my own trading firm which I sold and now I trade for myself. I wish I had discovered Qullamaggie sooner!

The Start:
My journey into this strategy started 4 years and as instructed by Qullamaggie, I did nothing but look at charts. I spent well over 1,000 hours studying charts and just focusing on the breakout chart pattern. This is the only thing people new to this strategy should be doing. Do not open any broker accounts or place a single trade until you have completed this task first.
Why?
1 – It is hard work, which is what it takes to be successful.
2 – It is boring at times. much like trading. There will be long periods in trading where there is nothing to do.
3 – Through this process you will learn if you are committed and will succeed, or not, without placing a single trade or risking any of your own money. Do not risk your own money until you have done this. It is hard to earn money in this world, look after it and look after yourself in the process.
Please note – the art of being successful is finding a strategy that fits your personality and lifestyle. Some will fail trading breakouts but succeed at day trading, some will fail at day trading but succeed with Fair Value Gaps (ICT), or algos, or scalping etc. You get the idea. There are hundreds of different trading styles to explore.
Success is a combination of finding what style strategy works best for the type of person you are. So do not be disheartened – keep exploring, but do so without risking any money whilst you learn.
I watched all of Qullamaggie’s live Twitch streams, they were great to experience. I have also watched all of his YouTube content too, learning as much as I could along the way.
I use OneNote because it was included in the MS Office bundle. I started with TradingView, and still use it to this day, and slowly started building up my own database. You learn so much from doing this, and because you make each discovery yourself, it stays with you and automatically becomes part of your trading thought process.
When trading, be it paper trading as part of your back test, or live trading, log as much information as you can.
-What % move up did the stock make before consolidating
-How long did it consolidate for
-What % move did the stock make once it broke out
-Did it continue moving up after the position was closed
-Were the EPS and Revenues of the company increasing or decreasing QoQ
-What is the Relative Strength of the stock – it is outperforming the index, the sector
-What is the stock market doing
-What are the different sectors doing
By seeing and capturing this data for each trade your understanding will explode, you will see how Market Awareness is key to taking the signals with the highest probability of success.

Universe of stocks:
The best place to start is the NASDAQ. In addition to what Qullamaggie said about high ADR stocks, the fact is that AI is the new driver for tech stocks. The combined market cap of Google, Amazon and Microsoft is larger than the GDP of Japan. That’s quite significant and won’t change anytime soon.
Only trading quality stocks will also help increase the probability of a successful outcome.
NASDAQ is going to provide some of the best opportunities for some time to come. Only diversify when you are well established. I still only trade NASDAQ. No signals = day off 😊 Less is More.

Scans:
Scans are critical. Your ability to understand the market and reflect this in your scans will create a natural edge and increase the probability of each trade.
The choices that are available are improving all the time. TC2000 is good, I used it for almost 2 years, but there are so many more choices to consider now.
See the Useful Resources section at the end of this post for a list of alternative solutions.
A lot of time is spent trying to find good setups. I have evolved the way I scan for setups. I decided last year to learn how to code in python. This allows me to refine and improve the scans to give the best possible setups. This was based on what I had learnt by capturing as much data as possible when back testing. I started by downloading a universe of several thousand stocks and filtered out those with low liquidity and low price. This is refreshed automatically each month. This leaves me with around 1,500 stocks to run my scans on.
Using python I download the data for free each day from Yahoo Finance. I just use EOD data to identify potential Breakout setups, then add them to TradingView and use real-time alerts to notify me when to consider taking a long position as and when the stocks move. I run 2 breakout scans and one combined scan for the 1, 3 and 6 month gainers.
I add high probability stocks to my watchlist in TradingView and set alerts, and then ‘stalk them’ as Qullamaggie says.
I have tried lots of different ideas. For example, scanning for stocks that met the criteria and were breaking out above an upper Bollinger Band level just to see if this made a difference. Always research different ideas and keep looking for ways to improve.

Python Dashboard:
I must admit, I got a little carried away with my adventures in python and used streamlit to build my own dashboard. Streamlit is a free library to allow you to create a web based dashboard without the need to learn html. I integrated all the scans as well into one place. Here’s what it looks like;

https://preview.redd.it/d9md2f8c1e0d1.png?width=602&format=png&auto=webp&s=6c2bfec06396ec62f30c5a8c7a631821a0032375
https://preview.redd.it/pmrtynsi1e0d1.png?width=602&format=png&auto=webp&s=d23a3cc6e0bc9e4cb99e277dae60af0c6403ac7e

https://preview.redd.it/rrdrc39k1e0d1.png?width=602&format=png&auto=webp&s=b451355d612fed38dc8f03ab500bb5832c56cd75
I was pulling in stock data, news, fundamental data including EPS, Sales and Revenue figures. I also tracked sector performance correlations to identify relative strengths.
However, after 2 months of creating this dashboard I realised that all the charting was better in TradingView, which already has EPS, Revenues and Dividend Dates. Now I just run my 3 scans which automatically create watch list files to upload each day. It was a fun exercise however, there are free or cheap solutions readily available that work just as well.

Market Awareness:
Very important, after scans. Part of what I run to understand the market / situation is simply compiled within Excel. Here is what it looks like;
https://preview.redd.it/xeeyc3ul1e0d1.png?width=561&format=png&auto=webp&s=4bf181cc73f45f1b6a4a3e81f16de5e0c7033410

https://preview.redd.it/qysx6m2n1e0d1.png?width=558&format=png&auto=webp&s=f3656e16ef5ccc8b173634a97d820d7796cefd51
When I get a signal I cross reference to see what is happening to the stocks sector and market, to see if this adds to the probability of it being a profitable trade.
Finviz also provides a free map of which stocks are showing relative strength and outperforming the market, see the Resource section at the end for the link.
https://preview.redd.it/jwis5n385e0d1.png?width=1232&format=png&auto=webp&s=d229f3dcc9956d6823351f5604e1a4f26b6601e6
Progress so far in 2024:
So how is this working out? Am I making money in the current environment (May 2024)?
Here is my Equity Curve since the start of the year, up 43%. There have been 93 trading days year to date.
https://preview.redd.it/i3ykd1pq1e0d1.png?width=392&format=png&auto=webp&s=29df3a4ec2e0fab1bf069da47878620619a81837
This Equity Curve represents over 1,000 hours of studying charts, of testing different ideas, new platforms etc. Always be searching for ways to increase the probability of a trade being profitable. Needless to say, my first year did not look like this! 😊
You absolutely can increase the probability of trades being profitable if you study and understand the market behaviour. Then you start to trade with confidence and without emotion.

3 Lessons I have Learnt:
1 – Study, constantly. Look at charts, make notes and log all this somewhere. I use OneNote and Excel to capture this every day.
2 – Focus on quality scans, searching for the best setups.
3 – Be inquisitive. Try lots of different ideas to improve your edge and increase the probability of profitable trades;
-Filter out illiquid stocks from your universe
-Don’t trade stocks < $5 as these can be prone to pumps
-What difference does increasing volume make?
-Do increasing EPS figures improve the outcome?
-What if I scan for stocks breaking out above an upper Bollinger Band instead?
-What different types of news has the best positive influence on a stock price?

When you have spent time asking and then answering these types of questions, and have studied as much as is required, you will know that you are ready to start to risk your hard earned money. And you will have a positive expectancy of a profitable outcome.

I hope this of use to people.

Useful Resources:
Here are things I have found which I hope you find useful. These are all useful tools to help you as you study, but will not negate the need to study.

TC2000, of course
Finviz is a great place to start if you aren’t using TC2000
TradingView has some basic core features you can use for scans
Deepvue.com is a better option and includes built in Qullamaggie scans
Python – Jupyter Notebook or Spyder, video on how to get started. Lots of content on "python finance" on YouTube:

Finviz sector map:
https://finviz.com/bubbles.ashx?x=sector&y=sma200&size=marketCap&color=sector&idx=any&cap=smallover&sh_avgvol=o100
Listen to others who just post quality setups, not guff about their life, or offer courses. There are plenty of people out there who are very quietly providing great content, for free, to encourage others. Here are just a few:

A detailed breakdown of the strategy for new people, useful video explaining how it all comes together;

Very useful indicator for TradingView:

2024.05.14 15:01 relationshipguy254 When Your Partner Sends Flirty Messages to Others When Angry?

Have you ever felt upset because your partner texts other people in a flirty way when they're mad at you? It's a situation that can leave you feeling confused and hurt. Today, I would like to answer the question of what you need to do when your partner sends dirty texts to others because they’re mad at you. This situation arises when you mostly raise a concern about the relationship, but instead of resolving the matter, they get mad and sext someone else. Of course, you will feel bad about it, and when you’re afraid of the relationship ending, you may end up apologizing for doing nothing.
Actually, the first thing you need to realize when you’re in this situation is that you’re not in a healthy relationship. This is because if someone goes to that extent of not wanting to solve the issues in the relationship, then there are only two options: either you end the relationship or you just stick with it but end up getting hurt.
Also, when your partner flirts with other people, and then you find yourself asking for feedback in forums, it simply means there’s a problem in the relationship and the problem can also solved by you being honest with yourself and the reality of the relationship. It's about going back to the basics—what are your boundaries? What are some of the things you cannot tolerate in a relationship?
When you don’t have a great relationship with yourself, or when you're neglecting yourself consciously or unconsciously, you tend to ignore the significant and clear red flags because you're afraid of what will happen if you acknowledge the truth about the toxicity of the relationship.
When your partner constantly avoids conflict or gets mad when you raise something, that is an avoidance of conflict, and you will end up getting hurt. You may want to keep the relationship and seek solutions, but often, the desire to maintain the relationship stems from fear of abandonment or being alone. When you're emotionally and physically dependent on someone else, you'll do whatever it takes to keep them because you're not accustomed to standing up for yourself. If your partner flirts instead of resolving issues, ask yourself why you're staying in that environment, or even question if they have the energy to flirt, then they should have the energy to address those issues.
Also, when someone avoids concerns and consistently engages in behaviors you dislike, it indicates that you, too, are avoiding the inevitable. You're sidestepping the reality that perhaps you're not standing up for yourself or that you're tolerating your partner's behaviors. This pattern is common in many relationships, especially unhealthy ones. Over time, you may become accustomed to tolerating hurtful behavior until it becomes normalized, and you're unsure how you reached that point. It often begins with seemingly minor issues.
Therefore, it's crucial to address problems in a relationship as soon as they arise. If you find yourself hesitant to raise concerns, recognize that it's about you. You may be grappling with deep-seated insecurities, such as fear of abandonment, rejection, or not pleasing others. Addressing these fears is key. Once you confront them, you'll realize that perhaps the relationship isn't right for you, or you may need to explore other options.
