So, I was homeschooled. Unschooled really. With little involvement from my parents (still managed to get my diploma though). I resent being often left to my own devices, but the worst thing was the isolation. Like, until some months ago I had literally not a single friend that wasn’t my family.
My Dad always feared that the government would come and “force us” to go to a proper school. We had to “pretend” that we went to school. That meant not being outside within the school hours. Only going to the town on the weekends. No clubs, no friends, no contact. No social media, no online games (though that was because of my parents being paranoid about the dangers of the internet) With me and my siblings getting older, that loosened up a bit. But while I now theoretically COULD have gone to do some social activities, I didn’t know where to begin. And I didn’t want to. I was scared. Still am sometimes, xD.
Now I am going to community college. And I am doing a lot better. I will soon begin my first job and become less and less dependent on my dad.
The thing is, I resent my dad but I sometimes wonder if I am overreacting in hating him. After all, on all the sites about abuse the situations that are described are far more extreme. He never physically hurt us. He never locked us into rooms and always bought us everything we wanted. Be it books or games or whatever. We always were well fed, clean and pretty normal, apart the homeschooling and the isolation. And I could have gone outside, at some point after turning 16. I just chose not to. He never said we couldn’t. We were even asked if we wanted to be homeschooled or not (though I was 11 at the time so I feel like that question shouldn’t have been decided by me)
So I sometimes feel like I am at fault. Like everything I feel is an overreaction. I think I just want some insight from “normal people” outside my bubble. What do you think? I am 21 never had friends, a girlfriend or club mates. I do okay in social interactions and am pretty educated. But I still feel like I have missed out on so much and that everything is unnecessarily hard, when it comes to social interaction or even basic things like taking the f**** metro.

Motorists have queued for hours to purchase petrol for 99 cents at two Illawarra service stations, inadvertently blocking a pre-school at pick up time in the process.
The promise of petrol for 99 cents, something not seen on price boards since the early 2000s, in the midst of a cost-of-living crisis was the ultimate drawcard on Tuesday afternoon.
Drivers could refuel at the Metro Petroleum station at Figtree for 99.9 cents for two hours between 3pm and 5pm.
Doordash driver Scott Holland had been in line since 2.15pm.
“It’s crazy,” he said, as he approached the roundabout at Uralba Street.
Mr Holland said he spends more than $220 a week on fuel, so the deal was too good to miss.
“Remember back in the 90s, it was 60 cents [a litre] and when it got to 99 cents we said we’d never pay a dollar.
“Look at it now.”
Not everyone was happy to sit in the traffic lines that at some points stretched to the McDonalds on the Princes Highway.
Nearby resident Ray Lonsdale said he couldn’t pick up his children from the nearby public school, with cars already lined up on Murray Road at 2pm.
“It was a dumb move to do it at school time.”
The deal was part of a promotion for a company called DCT – Dreams Come True which offers members discounts and giveaways.
Dreams did not come true for parents and staff at KU Figtree, some of whom had to walk for up to three kilometres to pick up their children and staff were parked in well after finishing work.
Organisers of the promotion said they would reconsider the timing of the discount petrol in future events.
‘If they can do it we can too’ On the other side of the M1, word had gotten out about the deal, and the new owners of Speedway Petroleum on Crown Street decided to get in on the action.
Sid Saliba purchased the petrol station late last year and saw the occasion as a good way to give back to the community.
“We heard about the other company doing it so we might as well match it,” he said.
“If they can do it, we can do it [too].”
Mr Saliba said he was selling the petrol at a loss – “everybody knows this price is mad” – but in the hyper-competitive world of petrol pricing and with all prices in the area available on the Fuel Check website, you had to stay ahead of the competition.
At Speedway, petrol was 99.0 cents.

Hi everyone. For context, I am Hispanic and I grew up in a white dominated area. Growing up I wanted to be white and erased my culture, but I never experienced racism. For the last 5 years I have experienced micro aggressions and just weird questions about my race. I think it’s inappropriate and also not anyone’s business. I feel like I am ugly to everyone and the white women is still seen as the face of beauty. I have a white boyfriend and I try to talk about this with him and he doesn’t understand. My gym is filled with white peopl, and so is my job. I feel like I need to move where there are communities of Hispanics so I can be more comfortable but it’s sad I’m don’t feel safe in the city I was born in. t’s getting to the point where I’d rather die than experience this. I think therapy would help but I can’t go right now. Does anyone else experience this?

Governor Hochul Announces Pilot Program to Enhance Reach of Metro-North Railroad to Orange and Rockland Counties Governor Kathy Hochul (ny.gov)
With congestion pricing set to begin on June 30, Governor Kathy Hochul today announced a pilot program to enhance the reach of MTA Metro-North Railroad to Orange and Rockland Counties, as an alternative to driving to New York City. Under the pilot, Metro-North will begin weekend service on the Haverstraw-Ossining ferries for the first time ever, create massive monthly UniTicket discounts of 78 percent to 90 percent on the ferries and buses that cross the Hudson River, and slash parking rates by 25 percent for Orange and Rockland residents using Metro-North’s garage in North White Plains.
“Many residents from Orange and Rockland Counties commute to New York City for their jobs and leisure, and we are finding alternative ways for commuters to get to the city without the added costs and traffic,” Governor Hochul said. “This pilot program will give individuals from commuter areas easier and more accessible access to the central business district and beyond.”
Starting Saturday, May 25, the Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry will operate continuously between 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. on weekends. The ferry has traditionally operated only during weekday rush hours. Metro-North also will offer discounts for monthly tickets on the Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry, the Newburgh-Beacon Ferry, the Newburgh-Beacon bus and the Hudson Link. In addition, Rockland and Orange County residents will receive a 25 percent discount on monthly parking at the North White Plains station, which is served by the Harlem Line.
With the new discounts, monthly bus and ferry ticket add-ons purchased in conjunction with a monthly rail pass good for an unlimited number of trips for each calendar month will fall dramatically. The current monthly UniTicket fare on the Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry is $43.75. It will fall by $34.50 or 78.9 percent to just $13.75. The current monthly UniTicket fare on the Newburgh-Beacon Ferry is $14.50. It will fall by $13.50 or 93.1 percent to just $1.00. The Newburgh Beacon Bus monthly UniTicket fare is $10.00. Had a conversation with my family friend today who works in the floral section at Metro in the GTHA, and they had ALOT of foot traffic in their store over the weekend, for customers purchasing Mothers Day flowers! In her area specifically, flowers from the big chain stores tend to be priced cheaper than flowers from the local flower shops, (but the tradeoff is that the flowers are lower quality, and tend to wilt faster). Myself and my personal circle of friends/family have been very committed to the boycott, so you could imagine my surprise and disappointment that the big grocery stores are still finding ways to get sales, such as from miscellaneous items like flowers. Now more than ever, its extremely important to support our local businesses, and cut off ALL revenue towards these big chain stores. This got me thinking, and inspired to support Canadian flower shops, and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in an app where local flower shops (Canada-wide) could post flash deals on their flower inventory/sell surplus flower bouquets at a discount? While I empathize with the appeal of getting flowers from big chain stores, I think its important to be proactive and support the businesses in our communities! I have alot of free time as I am currently a new-grad on the job-hunt grind (lol), and I do have the technical skills to code an app like this! Those able of body and brave of heart are invited to the mansion of Lady Jamandi Aldori, Swordlord & Chief Defender of Restov, to embark on an expedition into the Stolen Lands.
Bandits and monsters have been allowed to infest our southern borders for far too long. Those selected will be divided into groups and given a charter to reopen old trade routes and secure the surrounding territory. The brave-hearted mercenaries and adventurers who choose to take on this quest will face unimaginable danger, but whomever succeeds shall receive honor, glory, and a noble title granting dominion over the lands they've claimed to pass on their children.

For generations, the Stolen Lands have spanned the southern border of Brevoy. Many attempts have been made to settle them, but to date, none have succeeded, making these 35,000 square miles of wilderness the largest swath of unclaimed land in the entire region. As tensions mount in Brevoy, one ambitious swordlord hopes to change that fact.
Lady Jamandi Aldori is issuing charters to several groups of adventurers, sending them south into the Stolen Lands to reopen old trade routes and defeat the bandits and monsters who have made them too dangerous to use. By sending free agents south, this swordlord of Rostland hopes to alter the political balance of power in Brevoy without sacrificing her own position or forces. Yet, as with most complex and brilliant plans, the future holds plenty of opportunities for disaster.

Hello! I'm a longtime DM and a huge fan of A Song of Ice & Fire. I'm looking to run a campaign that's heavily influenced by the series I hold so dear. If you're a casual fan who's only seen Game of Thrones or House or the Dragon, you're more than welcome! The main things I'm looking for here are quality roleplay and enthusiasm. If you've got that, I promise we can have a good game together.

"Winter is coming."

Kingmaker is an Adventure Path originally designed by Paizo for the Pathfinder RPG but has been converted to be compatible with the 5th edition D&D ruleset. I'm taking so serious liberties with it but the bones of the adventure remain the same. Kingmaker is a high fantasy campaign that thrusts the player characters into a unique situation of building their own kingdom and carving out their own niche upon the world. You may be a scion of a lesser branch of the great families with ambitions that can't be hindered by your place in the succession. You could be a commoner whose witnessed your humble community suffer at the hands of the lawless bandits pillaging the countryside and will take on this great challenge so your family can live free. Perhaps you are a bastard child of a powerful figure and now seek to carve out your own kingdom knowing that you stand to inherit nothing you don't build for yourself.

"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives."

I've got a couple of expectations for the characters that will be brought into the adventure. I am looking for characters with reasons to have a desire to venture into hostile territory and work as a team to build a kingdom. Good or evil doesn't matter but chaos doesn't serve to further the group. So, no chaotic alignment will be allowed. This is not the campaign for chaotic evil players looking to betray the other players, loners or free-spirited vagabonds.

"Backstabbing doesn't prepare you for a fight, and that's all the realm is now. Backstabbing and scheming and arse-licking and money-grubbing."

Political intrigue is a pillar of the series inspiring this and a big part of my plans, but in order to keep charisma from being everyone's primary stat I will be using a reputation system to even the playing field when dealing with individuals of consequence. In certain circles, a knight renowned for their honor and bravery is going to be as respected and influential, if not more, as a traditional face will be anywhere else. I think this will do a lot to allow the party to have a proper balance of classes with no one feeling handicapped in the social aspects.

"Let me give you some counsel, bastard. Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armor yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you."

You may have noticed the tag, and the catch is: This is an adult only game, featuring erotic roleplay where characters can engage in sexual activities with no fade-to-black, etc. Lewd events, plans, consequences, and more are all on the table in this campaign. If you've watched either of the shows on HBO, this probably isn't much of a surprise to you. I'd like to be clear that just because it's on the table, this game will not become a raunchy, never ending orgy. There is usually meaning behind how sex is used in the series and that's what I'm looking to emulate.

"Distrusting me was the wisest thing you've done since you climbed off your horse."

GRRM often uses the intimate scenes to peel back layers to a character. Sometimes to paint them in a different light, other times to drive them further into the role he wishes to present them to the reader in. Some examples would be Tyrion's lingering trauma and emotional vulnerability, driving him to purchase the closest thing he believes he can have to real love being a way to earn Tyrion the reader's sympathy. Contrast that with Cersei's narcissism making her seek lovers, she can view as idealized male versions of herself, the only match worthy in her deranged mind. Or how Littlefinger justifies his pitiless ambition, being something forced on him by a cruel and unfair world that's kept him and his one true love apart by no fault of their own.

"Love is the death of duty."

PCs are encouraged to find and nurture romantic relationships with other characters or NPCs. Weddings are considered the truest way of sealing alliances, after all. Beyond the love lives of the characters, there are many other scenarios. A corrupt noble might be willing to trade information to carry on an affair on their spouse. A sex scandal could undermine the legitimacy of a claimant in a contested succession. Barbarian raiders may attack a village under your protection and take the women as slaves. Spies might attempt to seduce you in order to secure a position in your court and feed information to a rival house. A neighboring tyrant might earn your ire when reports of him abusing his authority to take advantage of an unfortunate captive or innocent reaches you.

"The things I do for love."

Because I'm sure it needs to be said. ERP will not be my main focus while running this; it may or may not even happen on my end. I'll already be responsible for the story, so trying to match everyone's taste in smut on top of that might be biting off more than I can chew. That being said, I'm all for your characters sharing a tent during the long weeks of adventuring because I think a good amount of sexual tension adds player investment and fun to the story. While I'm not promising anything, I'm not firmly ruling things out on my end either. You all could charm your way into a few NPC's pants to loosen a secret from their lips or secure a favor down the road. You might decide to blow your coins on prostitutes while visiting the capital. If the scene serves the story (or I'm just feeling horny that day), I may indulge you! Just wanted to make sure you're aware that just because I am open to ERP does not mean I'm making a commitment to provide it to everyone, expecting all players to take part in it, or putting it ahead of the actual campaign in any capacity.

"There are no other men like me. Only me."

If it's not apparent by now, I'm very serious about making this game something great. I love the ASOIAF books; I love the adventure path; I love the cRPG, and I desperately want to do justice by all three influences. Expect a bit of gritty realism and tragedy in this story. Your triumphs will be hard fought. Your holdings will face constant peril. Your enemies will always be lurking with their knives out for the moment you drop your guard. However, the rewards for your success in this campaign are unlike any other. I truly don't think there is another adventure that matches the sense of accomplishment that comes from taking a stretch of hostile wilderness and carving your own thriving kingdom from it.

"Power resides where men believe it resides. No more and no less."

A little bit on my approach to DMing this. I plan on running this very differently from traditional D&D 5e. Combat is obviously what the system does the most of, but if you've ever watched GoT or HotD you'd see the main characters don't draw their swords all that often. In fact, a lot of the main cast never have their own fight scenes. I like this less is more approach a great deal and think it'll bring a lot to the pbp experience. Outside of encounters with a named enemy, I won't be using initiative. This is so the RP isn't held up by any individual's schedule. I'll also be utilizing the minion rule from 4e where all the monsters have 1 HP. Their AC remains the same, so if you have trouble hitting them, the danger remains but low damage rolls won't cause encounters to drag unnecessarily.

"Hard truths cut both ways."

Matching the tone of the books this campaign is inspired by will take collaboration. I want the heroes of this story to have lives that involve more than their swords and spells. If you’re just looking to roleplay a non-stop fantasy porno, this isn't the game for you. But if you are interested in writing a character who is enriched by getting to explore their desires, be influenced by lusts, make compromises out of attraction, and maybe even experience heartbreak if their trust and affection wound up in the wrong hands-- then you're exactly who I'm looking for!

"If I do not press my claim, my claim will be forgotten. I will not become a page in someone else's history book."

If you can't be bothered to respond to the RP for days at a time, I'm going to kick you out! Plain and simple. I won't be reaching out. I won't be constantly giving you reminders. There will be no stoppages for you to get your shit together. It's a big world, and I'm not going to hesitate to find someone else interested in actively participating in the adventure if you go ghost. I understand that IRL always comes first, so if you have the common courtesy to reach out and explain your circumstances that prevent you from putting together a couple paragraphs every day, then I will still be replacing you, but I will move your character out of the story for you to pick up later on when you can. If you can't manage to let me know what's going on, then I'm just going to forget about you and move right along so everyone else can continue the fun!

My plan is to be pretty rules-light with this campaign since while I run a lot of D&D, I haven't run that many text games. I'm still confident I can handle it, but I'm just throwing it out there in case there are bumps along the road. If you're more experienced in the pbp arena than I am, I'd greatly appreciate your advice as things are coming together. We will be using dndbeyond and the standard discord bots. In my experience, these games work a lot better when the story is put above mechanics, so keeping things to PHB races and PHB/XgtE subclasses. If you're looking to do some awesome game-breaker build you've theory crafted for months. This may not be the game for it. I don't plan on meticulously tracking things to make sure you get your sentinel feat trigger each turn.

“Oh, my sweet summer child, what do you know about fear?”

After reading just the title of that post about running a long chronicle in this system (before I read the actual post and realized it was just about moving from D&D and not getting at the inherent limit on how long a personal horror game where “and then it got worse” is the basic theme can go on before becoming unplayably grim or subverting itself into some sort of superhero-esque shape to keep going) I thought about how I would set up as story in broad strokes to go on for a good long game in V5 while preserving the grimness, the personal/political horror, and the actual playability for the maximum duration.
The central goals I set myself for the arc to satisfy were as follows:

1. The game had to be able to run consistently for a long time with the same characters with minimal chance of the circumstances getting bad enough to make it basically impossible for the characters to do anything and not requiring any character deaths without their being wildly unlucky or wilfully stupid.
   
2. The game had to be able to cope with introduction of new characters to allow players to change characters if they really want to or feel they can’t play that character anymore for personal reasons.
   
3. The game had to avoid the player characters escaping the fact of their vampirism and monstrous parasitism.
   
4. The game had to preserve the personal and political aspects of the horror without being excessively browbeating or gentle enough to ignore for long, to avoid being superfriendsy or a caricature.
   

And the problems in usual set ups that I identified for this were:
• starting with the impression of having nothing or very little, on the bottom, makes rebellion feel entirely justified like they have nothing to lose. This allows self justification and ignoring the horror of being an inherently exploitative monster seeking to escape all external regulation.
• if you have a vampire who is trying to do good against the weight of an Evil Institution, that tries to foil them at every turn, then they will be an antihero or they will be crushed by the Institution.
• if things get too bleak and the characters are stuck, the game is unplayable without deus ex machina intervention.
From this, I arrived at the following general outline, a specific story for which I lack the ability and time to create and run, so I put it here for y’all to use (these numbers are not session numbers):

1. For parameters for the player character creation for the story require that the characters A) be involved with the same faction (the Camarilla works, though a strong Anarch Barony that has taken and held a Free City is potentially better), B) have at least one mortal touchstone, C) have some kind of privileged position in the faction (either as a coterie collectively, like a grand purpose, or each individually, such as good status, good connections, etc, or a mix). The starting in a privileged position with things they care about is important.
   
2. The players start in a position of privilege, with rivals and obstacles, but the power is largely more on their side than not.
   
3. They achieve goals that feel righteous, but also are gradually confronted with the horrific side of the system that grants them their privileges and come to the realization that achieving anything within or through that system will involve those horrors. Bonus if they get the impression that some of the people who have been the most helpful and positive for them actively want those horrors to be propagated.
   
4. They are turned against the system that privileged them and supported them, using their privileges and contacts to work to overthrow it (this is why a Barony that has come to strongly resemble the Camarilla is potentially best) and gain liberty and the ability to do good without the system perverting it.
   
5. They succeed, with difficulty, and manage to overthrow the system, destroying the old monsters who supported it and preserved it. This should feel like it was a bit of an uphill battle, with points about “you don’t understand, it was necessary” and “we only did what we had to, and sure, maybe I even enjoyed it, doesn’t mean it didn’t have to be done” and so on having been made to their faces by the perpetrators of the worst atrocities.
   
6. They begin trying to achieve good things and improve the city, and have some success (really emphasize the horrific side of feeding and the vampiric parasites angle here, if you haven’t focussed on it as much).
   
7. Their actions and successes at achieving positive change and failures in covering things up as brutally and thoroughly as the old system draws in some attention from hunters, not quite full second inquisition, but hunters who begin by killing an ally. The hunters are also revealed to be doing some serious political/social good in the community (if the players choose not to kill the hunters, distancing themselves, they will be assassinated for this by some other faction in the WoD like Pentex, the Technocrats, the CIA, etc).
   
8. After the hunters, either recycle 5 and 6 until they begin having to exert control and limit Masquerade breaches and leaks or they make a big enough splash to draw in the Second Inquisition more fully. If they begin controlling, go with option a, if they make a splash go with option b.
   

8a. They realize their actions are beginning to recreate the system they destroyed and are effectively rebuilding, and this allows you to keep the story going as you explore the horror of having become the power and knowing why it exists and eventually ending it with a confrontation with a new batch of neonate idealists, bonus if they were the protégés of the coterie or otherwise are people the coterie helped privilege and support.
8b. The Camarilla step in and offer to help and to manage the problems, offering them positions and support and effectively bringing them into the system. If they started Camarilla, the new Camarilla guys can disparage the previous administration, and if they were Anarchs they can claim the Cam is better at reduced mess and really cares about people’s safety and the health of the community (without a healthy stock of humans, how’s a vampire to feed properly?). If they accept, they become part of the system, see 9a. If they reject the Cam and fight the SI, the Camarilla will keep offering help until they are accepted or badly enough rejected to create a problem or the situation escalates badly. If they are accepted, see 9a, if they are made enemies of in a significant and meaningful way, see 9b. If things go wildly badly for the characters, see 9c.
9a. They become part of the Camarilla and are faced with more atrocities and their complicity in them, and this can be taken quite far as a grinding down of Humanity. It’s a long term endgame.
9b. The Camarilla brings up new support and the institution destroys the PCs because they overplayed their hand.
9c. The Second Inquisition destroys the PCs and the Camarilla moves in about 20 years later after the heat fades.
Thematically this deals with privilege, exploitation, the weight of institutions, the fact that systems exist for a reason and are never cruel without a purpose (even if they can be excessive or have bad purposes and bad reasons, like maintaining the existence of vampiric monsters), and the horrors of revolution that fails to fix the root and so simply grows anew the same atrocities as before (in this case, the root is that vampires A) prey on humans and B) have the Beast constantly pushing them to be Worse).

So apple just intend that Octane 3D rendering software will utilize the Render network, a crypto project that uses peoples GPUs to render.
Checking Render website these are the requirements:

• Having a GPU
• Install software
• Connect cryto wallet

So the plan is to send requests to this network (a bunch of online PCs) we don't know if they are secured and Render team doesn't know who they are because there seems to be no kind of contract or form to at least know basic information.
I fear this is a future problem of security, if anybody can provide GPUs any mallicious party can infiltrate through this method and breach IOS security, plus there's no knowing if the parties rendering are respecting our privacy of what we are trying to render.
I don't understand why apple is going for this route. You guys know anymore about this development?
In my view Render project is basically a company without assets and money, they created a token that they sell and use to pay for marketing strategies like the Vegas Ball and reaching high positions on the Apple corporate ladder.
They pay people with Render tokens. So this company has no assets no money but fake one they created and their GPUs provider are being paid with fake money lol.
Will the sec start shutting down these private companies in disguised as "decentralized community projects"
